2. Entertainment In The 1920 s
America has always been searching for new types of entertainment. In the early
twenty first century, cutting edge technology and pastimes were introduced. Nightlife
was increased due to flappers and jazz music, and the invention of the radio provided
amusement and paved the way for more technology. Entertainmentprovided a way to
relieve stress in the Roaring Twenties. Even sports offered a time of leisure for the
busiest individuals. The rise of different types of entertainment in the 1920smade a
long lasting impact on Americans. Sports became a popular type of past time for
America in the 1920s due to the attention from the media. The decade was often
called the Golden age of Sports because they became popular so quickly (Baughman).
3. Stereotypes In The Wasp Factory
The novels Lady Audely s secret , Rebecca , and The wasp Factory possess
analogous elements of the gothic. They present diverging concepts of femininity
rebelling against imposed gender stereotypes, and focalise on the usually
marginalised abjected figures of society. (Kristeva, 1982:3) This essay aims to argue
how the gendered the monster are embodiments of social anxieties and ideologies and
how challenge these projections. Mutual notions within the texts such as: the use of
gothic tropes, uncanny gendersubverting society s ideals, and monsters as metaphors
will be explored. Feminist and Gothic critics, predominantly Cohen and Butler, will
be engaged in order to consider distinctive vantage points.

Frances essentially acts as both male and female rebelling against all stereotypes
associated with gender. The dual gendered state of this character ridicules the myths
associated with performing gender. Frances who believed she is a castrated man
eventually discovers she was a woman all along. The blurring between the two sexes
and myth associated with her identity create a sense of uncanny duality, adding to the
gothic element of the text. The correlation of gender and identity is raised to the
surface and the reader is left questing all they assume about identity and
4. Identity And Colonialism In Tombos
When discussing identity and colonialism between the Egyptians and Nubians in
Tombos, it is critical to consider how the two cultures influenced one another and how
identity is emphasized and displayed through culture (primarily memorialization) and
the physical landscape. Additionally, we must also consider what archaeology reveals
and how it allows us to potentially answer about Egyptian society, identity, and
interactions between ethnic groups. Specifically, the author uses archaeological
evidence to demonstrate the intersection and balance of power between Egypt and
Nubiaculturally through burials and memorialization, but also the political interaction
and how it relates to history. Subsequently, understanding the archaeological record
requires us to understand how identity is formed through memorialization in burials,
which Tombos gives insight into. Finally, the archaeological record reveals an
abundance of information about Egyptian identity, cultural and ethnic mixing with
Nubians, and how this interaction (with respect to the idea of exclusion vs inclusion)
relates to the structure and function of each society and, ultimately, how this relates
to the greater history, religion, and cultureof the region. The first and most critical
element to analyze is the interaction between Egypt, Nubia, and how the two cultures
ultimately influenced each other. Despite Egyptologists of the past characterizing
Egypt as a sophisticated core with the inferior Nubian periphery (Smith and Buzon
188), the archaeological record and what the author gleans from it is superior as a
hypothesis. What is evident is that Egypt was obviously dominant initially during the
New Kingdom period due to having military and colonial control over Nubia and
through this military dominance, conformation to Egyptian culture was rewarded by
less violence. This is demonstrated by the author through a study of head and
defensive wounds, with the results demonstrating lower rates of violence at the more
Egyptianized Tombos compared to surrounding, earlier Nubian cities (197 199). The
existence of violence is indicative of a degree of resistance to Egyptian colonialism,
nulling the argument that a sophisticated Egyptian culture was

In 1968, two black American male athletes made history at the Mexico Olympics by
making a silent protest against racial discrimination during the American National
Anthem in the victory ceremony. Tommie Smith and John Carlos, gold and bronze
medalists in the 200m run stood with their heads bowed and a black gloved hand
raised as the American National Anthem played. Both men wore black socks and no
shoes and Smith wore a black scarf around his neck. They were demonstrating against
the continuing racial discrimination of black people in the United States. When they
left the stand at the end of the ceremony they were booed by the crowd. At the
press conference after the event Tommie Smith said: If I win I am an American,
not a black American. But if I did something bad then they would say a Negro . We
are black and we are proud of being black (BBC On this Day 1968: Black athletes
make silent protest). Smith raised his right fist to represent black power in
America, and Carlos raised his left fist to represent black unity. Together they form
an arch of unity and power. The black scarf represented black pride and the black

IOC said it was a deliberate and violent breach of the fundamental principles of the
Olympic spirit (BBC On this Day 1968: Black athletes make silent protest). This was

6. Chordates Research Paper
Chordates
From the beginning of time the simplest of life forms can be linked to those
characteristics that human possess. Amphioxus is a small sea dwelling creator that
has no eye, ears, or jaw but can be linked to humans by its nerve cord, segmented
muscles that aid in movement, notochord that acts like a backbone, and the gill slits
just like the ones human embryos possess.
Humans belong to a specialized Chordate category known as vertebrates. We are
categorized as such because our backbones are compiled of many vertebra that act
as our central scaffolding for our skeleton just like the notochord in the Amphioxus.
The reason human were capable of becoming so successful on land is because we

Reptiles on the other hand were the first to crawl, walk, and run near the water s

reproduce by laying eggs underground. King cobra were another animal that were no

it an unfair advantage over prey. Dinosaurs shares the reptiles characteristic of
being ferocious predators with ravenous appetited. This in turn aided in their
evolution to becoming the world largest creators until an asteroid hit at

all animal species and nearly all large animals. However this did not mean the end

Although we have so much in common we are still slightly different because of our
larger brains and our ability to communicate and ask questions like how we got
7. Freedom Vs. Enslavement
The topic I chose to examine in this novel in freedom vs enslavement. I chose this
topic because in the first two chapters it becomes evident that the people have no
say in what they do, they are born with a specific purpose. The Hatcheries and the
idea of scientifically creating a baby in a factory and conditioning them to act a
certain way were introduced. The ten controllers have total freedom and rule the
world, but people in the Gamma, Beta, Delta, and Epsilon castes are slaves of the
controllers, conditioned into whatever person the controllers want or would
benefit the economy. The Alphas have a bit of freedom because they were
conditioned to have a higher intellect which makes it hard for them to accept all of
the rules of society, but they were still made that way because the controllers
wanted them to be. My tentative thesis is: Enslavement from the beginning of your
existence creates an illusion of freedom. There are several supports for this thesis
in the beginning of the novel when the Hatcheries are explained. Some embryos are
conditioned by going through hot tunnels followed by cold tunnels paired with the
discomfort of hard X rays to ensure that they grow up hating the cold. These
embryos are predestined to move to the tropics and work as miners or acetate silk
spinners or steel workers. The Delta babies are conditioned with loud noises and...

Everyone in the novel so far seems pretty content with the way things work and they
are conditioned to not rebel or question authority. I predict that there will be a person
from the Alpha caste that will stand up though and question the controllers processes.
Another challenge I may face is trying to follow and understand the society that they
are living in where babies and embryos are produced in a factory and can be
conditioned into whatever the controller

According to the definition, humans have four limbs and are bipedal, but there are
exceptions to that generalization. People who lack one or more limbs experienced
a physical disadvantage in all recorded history, but modern technological advances
are helping them to narrow the gap between themselves and someone who was
born with all their extremities. New technologies for prosthetics have changed
from a nonfunctional replica of a body part into a functioning part of the body. One
field of prostheses is externally powered myoelectric prosthetics. Myoelectric
prostheses can sense electric signals from muscle contractions at the point they are
connected to and are able to carry out simple functions of an actual arm, while
providing more strength and ranges of motion than other current prosthetics. If the
residual limb, where the prosthetic attaches to, can still demonstrate nervous
function, a myoelectric prosthetic is a viable option for people who have lost, or
were born without, forearms (Behrend). In the future, it has become a viable
possibility that people who lack one or more limbs will be able to perform the same
functions as people who have natural limbs due to powerful prosthetics that can read
brain waves and translate them into a code read by a prosthesis which can, in turn,
mimic the function of a normal
10. The Causes And Consequences Of Cosmopolitanism By
Martha...
The first definition or the basic concept of cosmopolitanism was given by the Greek
philosopher Diogenes. His reply to the question of where did he come from was that
he is the citizen of the world. The concept of the entire world as a single community
and the shared existence of all its inhabitants were established around 300 B.C.. This
is where all other forms and the varied definitions of cosmopolitanism take their
source of inspiration from. Cosmopolitanism is a state of mutual existence and
citizenship in a single community regardless of the political allegiance. This
community can be formed on different basis and this particular difference is what
gives cosmopolitanism its various connotations and meanings; the community can be

On the grounds of human rights too nationalism had almost always censored certain
forms of expression that might have not pleased the hard core nationalists. This is
something that we still witness in the currently globalized and interactive world per
se. Even though Tagore was critical of the nationalist stand, professing this by forcing
the readers to condemn actions taken by the nationalist heroes in his novels, Tagore s
alternative is not cosmopolitanism in place of nationalism. In The Home and the
World, tgore does not let the cosmopolitan Nikhil have the last word; Nikhil and in
some sense Cosmopolitanism is also wounded when you wholly reject the idea of
nation with respect to its culture and traditions. Any kind of exclusivist or elitist
cosmopolitanism is not Tagore s intentions. He, in fact advocates harmony. If
acceptance and respect for all is even a slightest element of the cosmopolitan
philosophy, then Tagore s focus on cultural harmony as well as transnational
interaction is nothing but practicing rooted cosmopolitanism. This is the reason why
he was extremely committed to the idea of the revival and encouragement of the
Bengali language among the Hindu elites. Only if a nation is culturally rich can it
have a healthy transnational interaction of cultures. The appreciation of the multitude
of cultures, according to Tagore could also
11. The Sinus Node
The Sinus node is a small bundle of specialised cells located in the right atrium of the
which generates an impulse in the heart. The electrical activity spreads through the
walls of the atria and causes them to contract. This forces blood into the ventricles,
which sets the rate and rhythm of the heartbeat. A pacemaker is needed to maintain
an adequate heart rate, either because the heart s natural pacemaker sinus node is not
fast enough or there is a block in the heart s conduction system.
As knowledge of the human body expanded a range of electrotherapeutic
experimentations were conducted by pioneering scientists and physicians. Methods
utilized both direct current and static electricity. It became clear that the heart was an
organ especially sensitive to electricity as well and as early as 1788, attempts were
made to treat irregular heartbeats with an electric shock. By 1932, a primitive
form of today s pacemaker was invented as a hand cranked device by Albert Hyman
(Engineering and Technology History Wiki, 2015). Hyman s pacemaker was
powered by a hand wound spring driven generator that provided six minutes of pace
making without rewinding (Haddad, Houben and Serdijin, 2006). Today s pacemaker
weighs about 28 grams and is approximately the size of an Australian 50 cent piece
(Medtronic n.d.).
The objective of electrical stimulation is to replace natural biological impulses by
external artificial electrical impulses. Electrostimulation is needed when the heart

desires for acceptance can overrides their innate feelings of self worth. I think it is
important to try to understand what motivates meanness and how we can stop it. In
the movie there are four teenage girls who is popular among their peers, but they
also have a nasty personalities. Each one of the girls have some type of form of
aggression toward other students. They like to start rumors and created problems for

14. Solar System Formation
Ideas concerning the origin and fate of the world date from the earliest known
writings. However, for all that time, there was no attempt to link such theories to the
existence of a Solar System , simply because no one knew or believed that the Solar
System, in the sense we now understand it, existed. The first step towards a theory of
Solar Systemformation was the general acceptance of heliocentrism, the model which
placed the Sunat the center of the system and the Earthin orbit around it. This
conception had been gestating for thousands of years but was only widely accepted
by the end of the 17th century. The first recorded use of the term Solar System dates
from 1704.
The formation and evolution of the Solar System began 4.6 billion years ago with
the gravitational collapse of a small part of a giant molecular cloud. Most of the
collapsing mass collected in the center, forming the Sun, while the rest flattened into
a protoplanetary disk out of which the planets, moons, asteroids, and other small Solar
System bodies formed.
This model, known as the nebular hypothesis, was first developed in the 18th century
by Emanuel Swedenborg, Immanuel Kant, and Pierre Simon Laplace. Its next
development has interwoven a variety of scientific disciplines including astronomy,

present day and have been central to the evolution of the Solar System. The positions
of the planets often shifted due to gravitational interactions. This planetary migration
is now thought to have been responsible for much of the Solar System s early

19. The Importance Of Framing And Agenda Setting
The phenomenon of media covers a vast amount of space in terms of its definition
as well as whether it has a physical or contextual meaning. It is fundamental to
understand the supremacy media upholds, however; vital to recognize the ways in
which it shapes our lives. Elegantly put, media may not tell us what to think, but
rather what to think about. What this means is that, we are not necessarily
conditioned to believe what the media wants us to think, but instead the ideas of
what is important are instilled to us. This now brings me to the point of media
framing and agenda setting. I will investigate the relevance of framing and agenda
setting in the media by explaining the approach the world s media outlets take when
reporting information. I will also be breaking down and criticizing examples of
framing in news media. These concepts will be analyzed more in depth as I
rationalize the relevance of media framing and agenda setting.
To understand the relevance of agenda setting, one must first be aware of the power
that news organizations uphold. News outlets such as, CNN, The Huffington Post,
The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times are only some of the worlds most
giant media outlets which all share the same objective; that being to deliver stories
and up to date issues that correlate with the public agenda. The public agenda is
defined as, the areas of interest and general concern/views of citizens in respective
demographics. Although these media outlets intend

21. Anti Curfew Law
You can t tame a wild mustang, so why try and control teenager who wants as many
freedoms as possible. Curfews set by the Government may seem like a good idea, but
it s not. The idea of laws enforcing a curfew for teenagers is not a good one, it
unfairly takes away a teenagers freedom. If there is a law about a curfewand a teen
does not like it, there is a high chance that they will just stay out past curfew.
Curfew in a household is specified by the parents. If the parents and child both
state their case on a time, and agree on it, the child will keep their word. If there is
a law enforcing a curfew, there will not always be a way for teens to try and
negotiate a fair time, like they could if their parents decided the time they had to be...

Also, with that law, parents will probably follow the time of that law. This means
that teens cannot try and negotiate a time that is fair. If a teen believes that the
curfew time is not fair and wants hangout with friends or go to a party, they will
most likely sneak out. The point of the curfew is to keep people safe and make
sure they do not get in trouble, but if a teenager is going to sneak out anyway, what
s the point. A curfew law is a good idea on paper for parents who worry about there
children, but there is no true way to make sure they are safe without taking away
there freedoms, and that is what a Government forced curfew would do. Not all
teenagers are bad and stay out past curfew just to party and hangout with friends,
sometimes teens need to stay out late. High school students have extra curricular
activities they do after school. I know from personal experiences that sometimes you
can get home from a sporting event after a scheduled curfew. That is one of the first

22. Essay about The True Tragic Hero of Creon in Sophocles ...
The True Tragic Hero of Creon in Sophocles Antigone
There has always been a great debate over who is the true tragic hero in Sophocles
Antigone. Many scholars would stake claim to Antigone possessing all the necessary
characteristics of a true tragic hero, but many others would argue that Creon holds
many qualities as well. It is hard to discount Antigone as a tragic hero, because in
fact, the play bears her name, but from careful reading, Creon meets Aristotle s
criteria exactly and fits perfectly into the role. In order to determine whether or not
Creon is the true tragic hero, one must answer the question: What is a Tragic Hero?
In Aristotle s Poetics, he discusses the basic criteria regarding a tragic hero. Aristotle

Creon said, ?...And whoever places a friend above the good of his own county, he
is nothing: I have no use for him.? (203 205). Again, his high standards and honor
for his country are shown in great detail: ?I could never stand by silent, watching
destruction march against our city, putting safety to rout? (207 208). Creon shows
a high sense of morality when he properly buried Eteocles, and then is showing his
noble character by not burying Polyneices, who attacked Creon?s country; again
his value of his country is shown. Creon is a good ruler because he like any king
would punish evil and reward good. Creon is seen by the chorus to have
?goodness? and leadership. (Lines 691). The chorus praises Creon for his loyalty
to the country after the great war, they look forward to his kingly rule and nobility
in the future by saying, ?. . . Creon, the new man for the great new day?(Lines 173).
Love of his country and his punishment of Polyneices show this great nobility and
loyalty talked about by the chorus. Clearly Creon qualifies under the first criterion of
being a tragic hero.
The second criterion for being a tragic hero is that one is neither purely evil nor
pre eminently great. Although Creon possesses many good kingly qualities, as far
a honor and nobility, his imperfection lies in his excessive pride and hubris, as well
as his self indulgence as King of Thebes. Creon shows his power and pride
23. Business Needs Improve Performance Management
Activities
2.3A case for change Therefore, this business needs to improve their performance
management activities because, in dealing with the consequences of resistance to
change, the business lost its competitive advantage. There was high employee
turnover in the production team, resulting in reduced time to train staff, so product
measurements for the factory to manufacture goods often went out incorrect. This
contributed to higher levels of stress for the workers, in turn creating more errors.
There were delays in delivery, a reputation of bad workmanship was beginning to
form and there were reduced margins from doing a job more than once. The issues
felt in the production team were not only limited to that department, they affected
the rest of the other departments. This also created hostility between older
employees and the newer ones, because the older employees felt threaten by the
newcomers as they were viewed as more willing to do as asked. The business could
not survive this way and had to find ways of moving away from this battles of the
wills for change. Some of the business s competitors benefited from the business s
poor reputation. They gained more sales. The employees that left for the opposition
reported better working conditions at their new place of employment. They
mentioned that they had an operating system that assisted in their work process,
which if implemented to the business would change how they did things for the
better. The problem of not performance

Historically, most of the Northern Hemisphere holds the attention of many when it
comes to paranormal activity, UFO s, Cryptozoology and strange phenomena.

What I hope to bring forth in these articles is the often not heard of Phenomena that is
just as prevalent in the Southern Hemisphere.
As an Independent UFO Investigator myself I will however ask the readers
forgiveness if I often indulge myself in that field.
Being a New Zealander, it is often not recognized that New Zealand has many
unheard of mysteries and its fair share of UFO activity. We also have our own
version of Bigfoot known as the Moehau, also a mystery otter like creature, alien big
cats, and more. Our nearest neighbor, Australia also has its fair share of UFO
sightings, Criptids (animals that are not known or presumed extinct), and strange
phenomena.
As a UFO Investigator, I like to make quite clear how easy it is to be fooled. Often,
what we think we see is not what it appears to be. In the case of UFO s, weather
balloons, the planet Venus, satellites and other man made phenomena are often
mistaken for UFOs. My belief is that once you have eliminated all the obvious and,
sometimes the not so obvious, whatever you are left with must be the answer.
New Zealand has a long history of UFO activity beginning in the late 19th century
with the airship flap of the period, when there was a rash of sightings of

This purpose of this research is to improve understanding of physical activity and
nutrition of people who were previously diagnosed with prostate or breast cancer.
This study was created because Many people who are diagnosed with either breast or
prostate cancer are interested in optimizing their health via lifestyle behaviors.
(Steinnagel, Morris, Laasko) It is said that healthy diets and frequently exercising
may reduce the risk of developing prostate or breast cancer. The authors stated, There

In the present study, potential predictors of health behaviors from Commonsense Self
Regulating Model and Trastheoretical Model were tested for connections between
nutrition and physical activity and behaviors after being diagnosed with breast cancer
and prostate cancer. Hypothesis One, predicted that better guidelines for physical
activity and nutrition would be associated with Commonsense Self Regulation
Model, this includes higher personal control, higher treatment control, and lower
emotional representations. Hypothesis Two, predicted that more physical activity and
better nutritional adherence would be associated with Transtheoretical Model. People
who participated in this study, were previously diagnosed with breast or prostate
cancer. They were either receiving treatment or just finished. This was because the
research had to be measured within the last seven days via the International Physical
Activity Questionnaire, and this was in concordance with national dietary guidelines.
After being approved by the university, the Human Research Ethics Committee of
breast cancer and prostate cancer supported groups in South East Queensland,
Northern New South Wales, and Australia. The people were then contacted via email
and phone to follow up on participation. Survivors could then either choose an in
person visit, surveys, online participation, or a combination of these methods.

The Marketing Concept The marketing concept is the philosophy that firms should

but this has not always been the case.
Apple Company has applied marketing concept into their business. As we know, the

The Product Concept: The product concept prevailed from the time of the industrial
revolution until the early 1920 s. The production concepts was the idea that a firm
should focus on those products that it could produce most efficiently and that the
creation of a supply of low cost products would in and of itself create the demand for
the products.
Toyota is an example of a company, which uses the Product Concept. The cars
manufactured by Toyota are of supreme quality, which also yield an overall good
performance. They do not compromise on the seating comfort and luxury in the
car. At the same time, they manage to give a good mileage, which is a necessity in
the Indian market. Although their prices are slightly higher compared to other
competitors such as Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki and Honda, Toyota is still a primary

Toyota in India include Innova, Altis and Fortuner. The highest selling Toyota car

30. Shawshank Redemption Film Analysis
(Part I) Nicole Rafter identifies several stock characteristics that dominate the
traditional film. First, there is the convict buddy. In The Shawshank Redemption our
innocent protagonist Andy is quickly befriended by prison veteran, Red. Red s voice
can be heard narrating his thoughts about his friend Andy. As the story goes on, their
relationship is further explored to the point that the last shot is them reuniting.
Common to traditional prisonfilms is a paternalistic warden, but this is not the case in
Shawshank Prison. The warden here is very greedy and immoral which is a general
a characteristic of more recent prison films. Another stock character is a brutish
guard which we see exemplified in Captain Byron Hadley. He beats a man to death
in the first act of the film. Finally, we have Andy, who is the young hero, or at least
he is fairly young when he goes into prison. He is innocent and thus exemplifies
Rafter s stock character of having an unjustly accused protagonist. Rafter also notes
stock plots that often play out. In The Shawshank Redemption, the innocent hero
Andy escapes while simultaneously bringing condemnation on the unjust members of
the prison. This plot corresponds to one of Rafter s traditional prison plots (2006,
166). Lastly, there is the idea of stock themes in traditional prison films. Again, The
Shawshank Redemption falls in line with Rafter s theme of the unjustly jailed hero
fighting against the unfair system. Rafter writes, To restore justice,
31. One of the Leading Concerns of Today s Businesses
Security continues to be one of the leading concerns of businesses today. With
increasing interconnection of networks, extending work outside of the traditional
office, and electronic commerce with customers the vectors for attacks are growing.
A carefully crafted security policy is the first step to securing your enterprise. Upon
review of your current business practices we have several recommendations to help
increase your securityposture.

And greatly simplifies administration. Enterprise traffic can be isolated within the
LAN, customer traffic restricted to the DMZ while authorized remote users can be
given access to any segment behind the firewall.
Review and Assessment
Security improvement is an ongoing process not a goal. New avenues for attack are
being found rapidly, and the United States Computer Emergency Response Team (US
CERT) is one organization that tracks an announces them. The magnitude of security
vulnerabilities can be staggering. US CERT announced 36 high, 56 medium
severity, and 18 low severity attacks discovered in the week of March 3rd alone
(2014).
Maintaining a continual security posture is critical to staying ahead of the
vulnerabilities. With the number of new attacks constantly on the rise even the
most seasoned IT security staff can overlook a vulnerability. To assist your staff in
reviewing the security of your infrastructure a vulnerability assessment is a valuable
tool. There are many free and licenses software packages such as Nessus and
Metasploit which can be loaded onto a workstation and left to run. These packages
run through a library of known vectors of attack against your network equipment and
servers. You are then presented a report showing a list of attack successes and
suggested mitigation steps. Such software should be run on a monthly, or even
weekly, basis by your internal staff against your critical infrastructure.

Conspiracy Theories have always played a deceptive role in history. Conspiracy
theorists have skewed proper historical inquiry in order to back up their political
agenda. One famous conspiracy theorist, David Irving, known for his holocaust
denial conspiracy theorist is no stranger to this phenomenon. Irving s famous works
such as, The Destruction of Dresden and the infamous case that surrounded it show
how Irving s thinking in terms of using facts and material from the past are used in
order to fit his agenda of denying the holocaustand promoting his neo Nazism. Due to
his methods of historical inquiry through his works over the years, Irving does not
contribute to the established scholarly works in the field of holocaust research.
In order to understand what drives a denier to engage in this sort of activity, we
must look to their past. Irving grew up in Essex County, England. His father was a

Guttenplan had met all the prominent players, but most importantly focused on the

33. Character Analysis Of Nora Helmer In A Doll s House
The main character I will be focusing on in A Doll s House, is Nora Helmer. When
I think of Nora Helmer s character in The Doll House, I often refer to a quote that
says Woman was taken out of man; not out of his head to top him, nor out of his
feet to be trampled underfoot; but out of his side to be equal to him, under his arm
to be protected, and near his heart to be loved. (Matthew Henry) It is a normal thing
for a woman especially Nora to be taken care of and sincerely given love and
affection in a marriage. As most readers go in depth in the play, it seems like Nora
has the perfect life and couldn t ask for anything more than to be able to keep her
family secured despite the serious debt they are facing and to have the love of her
kids and her significant other Torvald. But, that all changes in the end when she
realizes that her world had been a doll s house all along and that she hasn t
discovered her true purpose of life. She never had the opportunity as a woman in
her time to see the value of life and never had the ability for making decisions for
herself. She grew up being her father s doll child and continued to still be a doll for
the husband she had found. Her role as a woman, wife, and mother shelter her from
the boundless outside world. Because of her restricted environment, later her
relationship with her husband changes, would also negativity affect her
relationship with her children because she left her kids with her husband Torvald.
She never had the opportunity as a woman in her time to see the value of life and
never had the ability for making decisions for herself. Throughout the course of
history, women s roles in society have been ever changing. At one time, women
were expected to fulfill certain roles and not others. There has been a constant
struggle expanding roles of success for women and has been a controversial issue
for as long as there has been reported history. The problem is that the unspoken
assumption is that women are different (Chisholm). Women s roles in society were
not even close to what they are today. In the past, women were viewed as property.
During her time women were living in a reserved and submissive type of
environment where women weren t granted the

findings, and strengths and weaknesses.
The review employed four randomized, controlled clinical trials of deep brain

Using four trials sanctioned for a pooled estimate on the effect of deep brain
stimulation, which assisted in the reduction of false negative results. It sanctioned
for a more objective appraisal of the evidence, by discerning the results of multiple
studies. A factor that may have influenced the result stands that three of the studies
made comparisons with medical therapy, and one compared deep brain stimulation
with a no stimulation group (Okun, 2012). A weakness of this review stands that the
selection of the studies and data could have been biased. The researcher selected
studies to construct a review from, but did not state how the reviews were validated
or why they were selected for this
35. The Blessed Lodovica Albertoni ( Fig )
The definition of artworks and the labelling of them as objects of a distinguished
style of their time can be helpful to maintain an organised view of the history of art.
However, defining a piece, or an artist, as belonging uniquely to a certain style
reduce the possibilities of a different reading of them. To illustrate this point, I will
comment the Blessed Lodovica Albertoni (fig.1), a sculpture of the 17th Century by
Gian Lorenzo Bernini, focusing on the approach of Rudolf Wittkower (1901 71) in
his book Gian Lorenzo Bernini: the sculptor of the Roman baroque. Although the
addition of the subtitle clearly defines the sculpture as part of the Italian baroque, it is
interesting how at the same time Wittkower includes a view on Bernini s... Show

As he comments the importance of the diagonal in his previous works, this
sculpture is described as angular in contrast with the modelling of the figure. The
spirituality of the Blessed is emphasised by the violent movement of the fold of the
mantles. Wittkower adds to the picture an inclination towards the classical linearity,
as Bernini s work did from the 1660s. He compares it with other artists from the
same period, who tended to serene their designs towards the end of their lives.
However, he emphasises on his interpretation of the sculpture as it portraits the
emotional and dramatic effect that is considered typical of the baroque .
Accompanying the short mention of the sculpture, Wittkower includes a comment in
the catalogue of images. First, the catalogue gives context to the figure and relates
it to others of Bernini s works at the time. Supposedly commissioned by Cardinal
Paluzzo degli Albertoni, sketches proves the beginning of the work in 1671 . Bernini
sculpted the figure by himself. His other commissions made him finish the sculpture
in 1674. Although it is surprising the artist did not receive remuneration for the
piece, it is known he worked for free for the Altieri family in order to avoid publicity
on behalf of his brother s past criminal offence . Secondly, Wittkower comments the
relationship of the sculpture and the painting, Gaulli s Virgin and Child

39. The Stereotypes Of Judging Other People
Many people judge other people based on what they look like. They think if they
look a certain way they act a certain way. Basically every judgment that is like this
is a stereotype. Sometimes we think people who wear the same clothes over and

could be their favorite outfit and they wash it every day to wear it again the next
or they just can t afford new clothes but live in a house and support themselves.
Martin Luther King himself said Nothing in the world is more dangerous than a
sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity . If we keep judging people on how
they look or act, we might as well be stupid not to think of how the other person s life
is. I believe

healed , and satisfied. Overall, the scene is relieving and peaceful, at least for
Amir. At the time, Amir s pain makes him feel happy by suffering. Though Assef
brings a mood of obscurity, Amir s recent catharsis brings about one of relief.
Throughout the whole fight, Amir knows that he really isn t going to win; but,
winning was not the goal. When Amir decides not to rin from Assef, he welcomed
the pain rather than running away from it as he did early on in the novel. Amir feels
as though this is the punishment that he deserved because of his unfaithfulness to
Hassan. This is the motive behind Amir s laughter during the fight. Upon going to
the hospital after the fight, the doctor tells Amir that he has a scar splitting his
upper lip, which ends up being similar to Hassan s. When Amir s scar surfaces, it
shows the equality between Amir and Hassan. His whole life, Hassan was seen of a
lower status because his family couldn t afford to get it
41. Preparation Buffers
Abstract
Buffer solutions were prepared and their pH measured to determine their buffering
capacity. Three buffer solutions were utilized; an undiluted buffer, a diluted buffer
solution with 10ml water and a diluted buffer solution with 18ml water. In the
undiluted buffer solution there was minimal pH change with a high of 6.78 and a low
of 6.47. In the buffer solution in which 10ml of water was added there was minimal
pH change with a high of 6.78 and a low of 6.23. In the buffer solution in which 18ml
water was added there was significant change in pH with a high of 6.1 and a low of
2.27.

Discussion and Conclusion
Table 1
There is minimal change in the pH of the buffer with a high of 6.78 and a low of
6.47. The equivalence point is approximately 6.64. This shows that as the quantity
of the buffering agent s acid (HA) and conjugate base (A ) changes, the buffering
capacity of the solution decreases. As a consequence, a buffer agent can only be
utilized up to a given point in which case it does not resist pH changes and seizes to
be a buffer solution.
Table 2
There is minimal change in the pH of the buffer with a high of 6.78 and a low of
6.23. The equivalence point is approximately 6.6. The addition of water dissociates
the buffer agent further as shown in the equation below:
HA(aq) + H2O(l) H2O+(aq) + A (aq)
HCl (aq) + H2O(l) H+(aq) + Cl (aq)
The concentration of the conjugate base and acid thus changes. The buffering
capacity of the solution decreases. As a consequence, a buffer agent can only be
utilized up to a given point in which case it does not resist pH changes and seizes to
be a buffer solution.
42. Table 3
There is significant change in the pH of the buffer with a high of 6.10 and a low of
2.27. The equivalence point is approximately 6.1. The addition of water
43. Definitions Of Family In Kurdistan
Family in Kurdistan In this essay, I will be exploring an essential word that can be
understood or elucidated in various ways based on three perceptions, which is
Family. The word family is defined as a group consisting of one or two parents,
their children and close relations according to Oxford dictionary. However, the word
family is described differently bases on the people s educational level in Kurdistan.
Firstly, among the educated or modernized members of the community family is
defined as the source in which they gain their respect and pride. Moreover, this
class of the community is either less or not patriarchal, and all of the family
members have the same rights without exceptions. On the other hand, while the
majority of Kurdistan s population has a low educational background, therefore
the uneducated portion of our society defines family as several relatives in a house
that is mostly led by a male, and moral values are considered to be related to
females. In contrast to all, I believe that family does not relate only to blood
relatives or living things. Instead, family can relate to the people and things that get
along and are based on each other, therefore, one loses its value in the absence of the
other. Hence, in this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a person, who grows within this complex culture, but studies with foreign
people and interested in social relations; I think family is not merely about blood
relatives or living things. Instead, family can represent the people and things that
get along and are based on each other as one loses its value in the absence of the
other either it would be mentally or realistically. To illustrate, within the human
societies two people can be called a family when one of them could not do anything
without the other s help or performance. However, same thing applies to the non
living things, such as pen and paper. The value of pen would be lost if there was no

46. Essay on A Feminist Perspective of Othello
A Feminist Perspective of Othello
Throughout the length of Shakespeare s tragedy Othello there is a steady
undercurrent of sexism. It is originating from not one, but rather various male
characters in the play, who manifest prejudicial, discriminatory attitudes toward
women.
In the opening scene, while Iago is expressing his hatred for the general Othello for
his having chosen Michael Cassio for the lieutenancy, he contrives a plan to partially
avenge himself ( I follow him to serve my turn upon him ), with Roderigo s assistance,
by alerting Desdemona s father, Brabantio, to the fact of his daughter s elopement
with Othello: Call up her father, / Rouse him: make after him, poison his delight [. . .]

How got she out? O treason of the blood!
Fathers, from hence trust not your daughters minds
By what you see them act. (1.1)
Othello, the general and protagonist, seems initially to be totally lacking in sexism.
He loves Desdemona as an equal and accepts her with no preconditions:
As this that I have reach d: for know, Iago,
But that I love the gentle Desdemona,
I would not my unhoused free condition
Put into circumscription and confine
For the sea s worth. (1.2)
When Brabantio has finally located Othello, with torches on another street in the
middle of the night, the senator exclaims loudly his right of ownership: O thou foul
thief, where hast thou stow d my daughter? With the Turkish campaign against
Cyprus in motion, the Duke of Venice scarcely has time for Brabantio s protestations.
Furthermore, the duke recognizes Desdemona s right to marry whomever she prefers.
In exasperation the senator disowns his Desdemona, not permitting her to stay at
home while Othello is away at Cyprus. So she goes with the ancient and Emilia.
The First Senator encourages the newly married general: Adieu, brave Moor, use
Desdemona well. The word use conveys the sexist belief of the husband s
ownership of the wife. Later, when Roderigo confesses to Iago his depression and
suicidal feelings over the loss of Desdemona, the ancient seeks to keep him alive by
47. Lab Exercise At Room Temperature Equal
Introduction:
Many of molecular biology and chemistry involves working with very small
volumes. A micropipette is standard laboratory equipment used to measure and
dispense a specific volume of liquid (#5 buffalostate.edu). This is a very helpful
tool that we need to master and able to use in a biochemistry lab. The purpose of
this lab exercise is learning how to use a micropipette to find the density of different
liquids, and be able to identify an unknown liquid using density. Also, learn how to
evaluate the experimental accuracy, precise, and error of small volumes used in
biochemistry based on the theory that 1gram of water at room temperature equal

Based on the theoretical density, the density of water, methanol, and glycerol that
obtained in the experiment should be the same or close to these values above. If the
experiment performs correctly with high precise and accuracy, then density of the
unknown can be used to identify the present chemical substance. The expect
outcome for this experiment is the value you obtained will be close or exact the
theoretical values. In this exercise, all of the micropipettes measured in the form of a
microliter. There are different models of micropipettes have different minimum and
maximum limits. The two micropipettes we were used for this experiment are P1000
and P100. The correct micropipettes were chose based on the volume of the liquid
that needs to be measure. Micropipettes should never go past the set limits, either
lower or higher. It will cause the micropipettes to not function correctly or will
measure incorrect volumes. The maximum sizes are showed on top of the plunger
(thumb knob) button. P100 ranges from 10 100 microliter, P1000 ranges from 100

1950 s to the present day.
50 s
The 1950 s represent the beginning of the development of the music industry, as it
is known today. It is from here on that the genre of popular music existed and began
to dominate the charts. Of course, there were acts that existed before the 50 s, and
made a good name for them selves, acts like Bing Crosby, but it was in the 50 s that
certain artists became household names, and idols to the masses.
The first, and most iconic of these artistes, is of course, Elvis Presley. After making a
name for him self in the states, Elvis music then began to cross the border into other
countries, and continents. Elvis was the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Playing the guitar in ways never seen before, Clapton was hailed as a god, and the
genre of blues was re instated into the music industry. Clapton then went on to form
the first super group . In 1966, Cream were formed, and by combining Clapton s
bluesy styles with the more rocky style of Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, Cream
created a new genre of blues rock. Zepplin could also be credited for pioneering this
genre. It was this genre that got Cream and Zeppelin noticed in the US.
In 1964, Top of the Pops was born. Like previous music shows, it was a showcase
of musical talent. The show went down brilliantly in the UK, with mass numbers
watching the show each week to catch a glimpse of their idols. All the current acts
at the time were called to play on the show, and it was great publicity for each act.
Top of the Pops continued for many decades. Also in 64, new musical technologies
were developed and brought to the mainstream market, such things as organs. This
allowed acts to create new sounds push the boundaries of popular music even further.
Into the 2nd half of the decade came the arrival of The Rolling Stones and The Who.
These continued along the Blues Rock path pioneered by Cream and Zeppelin, and
both had great success. It was these acts that led to the nickname, the swinging 60 s .
1966 saw the beginning of psychedelic music. It was The Beatles who first began to
experiment like this. Adding new

Abstract
The goal of this essay is to focus on theory and implementation of the Balanced
Scorecard system. Because of the structured generic approach of the methodology, the
Balanced Scorecard has gained its popularity as means of evaluating performance and
reporting quantitative performance results. The balanced scorecard is a strategic
planning and management system that is used extensively in business and industry,
government, and nonprofit organizations worldwide to align business activities to the
vision and strategy of the organization, improve internal and external
communications, and monitor organization performance against strategic goals (The
Balanced Scorecard Institute, 2014). The Balanced Scorecard is the most prevalent
and adopted of the several strategic performance tools since the early 1990s. In
addition, the derivatives of the Balanced Scorecard such as Performance Prism and
Results Based Management have also gained prominence in the field of strategic
performance management and improvement. The Balanced Scorecard commenced as
a performance management tool that incorporated strategic non financial
performance measures to the conventional financial indicators in order to provide
managers and company executives with a somewhat balanced view of the aspect of
organizational performance.

50. Street Crime And White Collar Crimes
As society grow more and more the economic crimes goes up as well. Either it s
the street crimes or the white collar crimes/corporate crimes but which of is a wide
spread crime. Street crime and white collar crimes affect the people negatively. You
would be hurting yourself and others. Even though, street crimes are more violent
then the white collar. White collar effect you devastating you finacially and
emotionally. Street crimes are more generally physical effect. White collar crimes
have financial issue and street crime have safety issues. Widespread danger of citizen
are more in white collar crimes than street crimes.
Widespread danger to civil society both in human death and cost tax dollars is white
collar crime/corporate crime. Even thought white collar crimes and street crime are
the same punishment. Usually, the common crimes that offenses include: investment
fraud, computer and internet fraud, credit card fraud, bankruptcy fraud, embezzle
fraud, phone or telemarketing fraud, insurance fraud, tax evasion, healthcare fraud,
money laundering, and there is so much more. The penalties for some of these crimes
are fines and imprisonments. When you are committing these crimes the judge
separate the victim and the defendant, A defendant is likely to be found to have
committed an aggravated white collar crime where he or she is convicted of
committing two or more related felonies, against either different victims or on
separate occasions against the same victim, which

Roughly a year later, the newlyweds had their first daughter, named Paula. Three
years later, in 1966, their son Nicolas was born. While taking care of two young
children, Allende s cousin president Salvador Allendewas killed on September 11,
1973 in a duel against another government official. Realizing that her family was in
danger, Allende made the decision for her and her family to move to Caracas,
Venezuela in 1975. As if this was not enough, Allende s grandfather became sick in
1981 and passed away after some time. While her grandfather was sick, Allende
sent him letters that later became her first novel, House of the Spirits (Rodriguez).
Six years later, Allende and her husband divorced after 25 years of marriage (

53. Communication Is A Complex Aspect Of Human Life
Communication is a complex aspect of human life that upon closer investigation
gives one a deeper understanding of what messages individuals are truly attempting to
convey. There are four different channels through which signals and cues send
messages from sender to receiver and vice versa. Those channels are the following;
auditory, visual, tactile, and scent channels. Three of the four channels are non
linguistic channels that demonstrate that a large portion of communicationoccurs
through non linguistic means. Individuals are consistently using these four channels
in everyday interactions with one another. Humans minds and bodies have been
shaped by natural selection to send a variety of verbal and non verbal signals. A signal
is intentional and has been evolved to produce a certain reaction. Signals are
honest because they are linked to one s genes. Due to the wide reach signals have
in one s everyday life a broad analysis of signals would be ineffective for this
analysis. Therefore, this analysis will focus on the role signals play in courtship.
One will explore a total of five different sources of empirical evidence in order to
gain a deeper understanding of why individuals may have evolved to produce and
react to courtship signals. One will attempt to demonstrate that individuals have
evolved to produce and react to courtship signals in order to be able to determine a
potential mates interest. Though courtship signals may not guarantee that one will
achieve a
