Migraine Headaches
Treatment and Cause of Migraines
Jochon D. Dobbins
The Academy of Health Care Professions
Abstract The word migraine is a Greek word which means half of head . It is thought that people
who suffer from Migraines usually experience pain on one side of their head. There are several
signs or symptoms that are usually associated with migraines. Here are some examples. *
Tiredness * Sensitivity to light * Nausea or vomiting * Sensitivity to certain smells * Reaction to
eating certain types of foods
There is no cure for a migraine. However, there are several different types of methods used to treat
and diagnosis a migraine. The following pages will discuss these methods as well as go in to more
detail about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, migraine is also very common in children. It has been reported in children as
young as 18 months old. About 10% of school age children suffer from migraine. Half of all
migraine sufferers have their first attack before the age of 12. Before puberty, boys suffer from
migraine more often than girls. As adolescence approaches, the incidence increases more rapidly in
girls than in boys.
Migraine often goes undiagnosed in children and adolescents. In childhood migraine, head pain is
often less dramatic or severe than other symptoms, such as unexplained nausea or vomiting,
abdominal pain, or dizziness. Moreover, it is not uncommon for attacks to occur with only minor
or even no head pain, making it hard to diagnose. Motion sickness is an early warning of the
predisposition to childhood migraine. In childhood, the non headache symptoms are often referred
to as migraine equivalents.
While symptoms of childhood and adolescent migraine may be different from those typically
found in adults, children are just as disabled. Children who suffer from migraine are absent an
average of 7.8 days from school each year, compared to 3.7 days of absence for children without
migraine. Treatment for childhood and adolescent migraine depends on the age of the child and the
frequency and severity of the attacks. Although there are well over 100 drugs used to prevent or
treat migraine symptoms, none have been approved for use in

Reflection And Educational Differences In The Educational...
When we started this eight week course about differentiation I already had a lot of background
information on this subject. I did learn a few things about how to help my colleagues jump on the
bandwagon of differentiation. By helping my fellow teachers change their mindset towards
planning with differentiation in mind I am making a positive difference in my students educational
experience. When differentiation is used properly students are taught lessons in ways that are both
meaningful and specific to the students educational needs. Differentiation is a great tool that
teachers can use to help decrease the educational gap between students skills and the grade level
standards that they should be meeting. For this class we had to create a lessonwith differentiation in
mind. For me this assignment was easy because I already plan my lessons with differentiation in
mind. What came naturally with differentiation was differentiating for content, process, and
product. Each station that I planned had some sort of differentiation to help students understand
the concept that was being taught. Including these extra strategies was easy and did not add any
extra time for me to plan. What I found to be more challenging was differentiating with readiness
in mind. With 50 plus students in my gymnasium I have a wide range of skill levels. This means
that I have to use my pre assessment data in order to figure who might need more help and who
can be pushed a little further to extend

Theme Of The Book Thief And The Things They Carried
Do you like war? Do you despise war? Have you ever attempted to help someone during a war,
probably not though? In The Book Thief, there is a girl named Liesel who were adopted by
Hans and Rosa Hubermann and they helped harbor a Jew during WWII. In The Things They
Carried, is about a soldier named Jimmy Cross who adores an English major named Martha and
then one of the soldiers gets shot and assassinated which makes Jimmy forget about Martha and
become a better leader. In The Book Thief and The Things They Carried have some similarities
and differences and some of them I ll explain with literary devices. The theme for The Book Thief
is death/war/brutality and the theme for The Things They Carried is to focus on what s more
important than yourself. For my opening body paragraph, one important literary device that both
authors used is symbolism. In The Book Thief, Markus Zusak starts of the symbolaround the end of
the book. Even though The Book Thief is a morbid and a demonic book which has a lot of war
and death in it, the dominoes represents how they, were falling like dead bodies in the living room.
(410). Well, in The Things They Carried, it also has the same symbol which relates back to
dominoes and how Tim protested against the war, but not enough to be considered a pacifist. Also,
how he thought about, Ho Chi Minh a Communist stooge, or a nationalist savoir, or both, or
neither?... What about SEATO and the Cold War? What about dominoes? (38). That showed how the

The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
In 1973, the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) was created and their mission is to
establish and improve standards of financial accounting and reporting for the guidance and
education of the public, including issuers, auditors, and users of financial information. (FASB.org,

Maupassant s The Necklace
In Guy de Maupassant s The Necklace Mathilde Loisel, a middle class housewife, fantasizes
about leading a life of wealth. Mme. Loisel is a proud woman. She feels herself born for all the
delicacies and all the luxuries . Since she was born into a middle class family, she lacks access to
the comforts of an upper class life. Thinking that her beauty should earn her a higher place in
society, she is discontent. She stopped seeing her wealthy former schoolmate because she
suffered ceaselessly when she came back. Seeing Mme. Forestier, whom Loisel had once viewed
as a peer, in a higher social status than herself disgusts Loisel. She attempts to make a good
outward appearance to others in order to make up for her contempt for her social... Show more

Loisel s pride causes her to make her first mistake shortly before the ball. Committed to the belief
that there s nothing more humiliating than to look poor around other women who are rich, she
decides that to merely have a dress is not good enough. She tells her husband that she wants
jewelry. So she asks her old school friend (whom she otherwise avoids) if she can borrow a
necklace, which as far as she knows may be worth thirty six thousand francs. She uses this
necklace at the ball, dancing with other men than her husband, while he sleeps in the back room.
Between the hours in a crowded ballroom and the long walk to find a cab in the night, it was not at
all improbable that the seemingly valuable necklace would have been stolen. Whether the necklace
is stolen or just misplaced, it is indeed lost. Had she stopped to think, Mme. Loisel may have
realized that there was some risk in borrowing a necklace that she thought was so expensive.
Also, the impression she makes at the ball would not likely have much bearing on her life later
on. Her refusal to wear natural roses shows us that one of her worst fears is to appear poor. Thus
to prevent injury to her pride she makes a gamble in which winning will bring little, and losing,
although the chance of such is overlooked, has drastic

Pinocchio Essay
Introduction:
Pinocchio is one of the most celebrated works in Italian literature. It was written by Carlo Lorenzi
in 1883. Like many other writers in Italy at that time he wrote it under a pseudonym Carlo Collodi.
Collodi himself was a firm believer in education and one of his main goals was to educate young
people, at one point declaring. Open a school, and you will close a prison (Collodi in Person, p 141).
His novel about Pinocchio continually portrays the virtues of education and the evils of sloth.
When Pinocchio tries to avoid school and disobeys his father by running away, he suffers many
misfortunes as being abducted, jailed or transformed in to a donkey. But when he obeys what

Pinocchio so wanted to become a real boy and therefore did not fully understand how complicated
and confusing it can be. It showed that Pinocchio must first learn to overcome temptations control
his desires through a self discipline and educate before he can achieve his goal.
The story: Promote educational process:
From the begging of the story we see Pinocchio being very naughty he plays pranks upon the
kindly wood carver Geppetto he noticed that these eyes moved and then stared fixedly at him.
Geppetto, seeing this, felt insulted and said in a grieved tone: Ugly wooden eyes, why do you
stare so? Next he made the mouth. No sooner was it finished than it began to laugh and poke fun at
him. Stop laughing! said Geppetto angrily (Adventures of Pinocchio. Chapter 3)
In Chapter 4 of the book, cricket been introduced to readers. As Lawson Lucas writes The
Talking Cricket enters the story to give overt expression to the moral frame, as well as to the
practical disadvantage of being bad () Woe to boys who refuse to obey their parents and run
away from home! They will never be happy in this world, and when they are older they will be
very sorry for it (Adventures of Pinocchio. Chapter 4) Furthermore, Cricket makes it clear that
naughty boys cannot bear to be corrected, as Pinocchio does not pay no attention at all to anything
he been advised.
Pinocchio s disobedience upon everything serves two purposes to humanize him, and

Fossil Fuels Are A Non Renewable Source Of Energy
86% of the energy the USA uses comes from fossil fuels like petroleum and coal that provide
electricity and gas to power our growing energy needs. Fossil fuels are a non renewable source
of energy, meaning that we will eventually run out one day in the near future. When we drive our
cars to work, taking long showers, and leaving the lights on, we usually don t realize how much
of our resources we are using. Fossil Fuels, Power Plants and Fracking cause many of our
environmental problems that the world faces today due to our growing dependence on energy.
These environmental problems include global warming, air quality deterioration, oil spills, and acid
rain. Saving and producing energy from a renewable resource such as sunlight not only helps to
conserve our limited resources but also translates into happiness, safety for our environment,
boundless energy, and a personal benefit, such as financial savings. During the 18th century,
massive quantities of fossil fuels were used to power the economy let alone the world. MHI states
that During the Industrial Revolution, fossil fuels seemed to be the ideal energy source because of
its seemingly endless supply. Many machines during the Industrial Revolution such as the Steam
locomotives, used coalas a form of energy which would fuel the machine early on to balance the
lack of firewood and charcoal. In this article about fossil fuels, it states that we continued to use
coal because there was a seemingly endless supply of coal

In order to understand, we will start looking at Chinese modern architecture from China s
construction boom period when China started to introduce international architects and internal
migrant workers, their influence and affect on Chinese modern architecture.
Background of Contemporary Architecture and construction/ The Globalisation influence
( Chinese modern architecture: more influenced by the west)
In retrospect, this boom is solely responsible for modern China s architectural movement, and this
only truly began in the last 15 years. Just 20 years ago, there were no private architectural firms in
China, only state run institutes. Due to the huge demands of the rapid urbanisation of Mainland
China starting from 2008 olympics, there was a sudden need for architects and planners to facilitate
construction, and this itself forced a transition in architectural production to take place, as the local
workforce both architects and labourers did not possess the necessary capacity alone. This led to an
influx of international architects and migrant workers into China.
One might say that the construction boom is a golden opportunity for millions of people to earn a
decent salary and improve their living standards, moving on from poverty. In fact, the Olympics
attracted millions of migrant workers from the rural villages. From an economics point of view, this
is an opportunity to stimulate the economy

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Conan
In the history of British literature, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ranks highly amongst the most famous
authors of all time. Mention his name, and most people will immediately think of one thing; Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle equates to Sherlock Holmes.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was certainly much more than his most famous creation, and away from his
most famous creation, his life was full of interesting and strange facts and events.
NAME
It is common to see Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s name shortened to just Conan Doyle, Conan though,
was not part of his surname, and was in fact just one of his two middle names. Conan Doyle s full
name was Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle. It was only when he started his professional career that

Specifically, Conan Doyle was an eye specialist, having been an undergraduate at Edinburgh
University from 1876 to 1881.
After completing his time at Edinburgh University, Conan Doyle undertook work as a ship s
doctor, ran doctor s practices in Birmingham, Plymouth, Portsmouth and London, and he even went
to Vienna briefly to continue his studying.
The south coast of England would often prove to be home to Conan Doyle, and for a long period
he lived in Hindhead; and when he died of heart attack, aged 71, in 1930, Conan Doyle was buried
in Minstead.
SPORT
The practices run by Conan Doyle were not particularly successful, and so Conan Doyle would
often find that he had plenty of spare time to indulge in other interests, including writing and
playing sport.
It is often said that Conan Doyle is one of the world s most famous goalkeepers; Conan Doyle
though played for the amateur side Portsmouth Association Football Club, and not the more famous
Portsmouth FC as is often said as fact. Portsmouth FC was founded in 1898, whilst Portsmouth
AFC operated from 1884 to 1896.
In 1893, Conan Doyle would briefly move to Switzerland, staying in Davos. Here he started taking
part in the brand new winter sport of skiing, being one of the very first from Britain to try it. Conan
Doyle would write enthusiastically about it, and is

A Film Market That Is Not Reach The Same Level Of...
In a film market that is saturated with mindless multi million dollar blockbusters, a seemingly
thematically ambitious one like Elysium can stand out amongst the clutter. Blomkamp has
tackled allegory before with his acclaimed debut District 9. Though it by all means isn t a perfect
film, District 9 stood out for its approach at sci fi allegory, mixing documentary like filmmaking
with spectacular action set pieces while thoughtfully tackling themes of racism and xenophobia.
However, Elysium does not reach the same level of sophistication as Blomkamp s previous
work. Elysium is a film with great potential for social commentary through science fiction
storytelling, that is unfortunately marred by shallow Hollywood spectacle, clichГ©s, and plot
contrivances that discredit the film s themes. Set in 2154, Elysium portrays Earth as a society
plagued by overpopulation and excess pollution, where the privileged elite live in a ring shaped
satellite that orbits the earth known as Elysium. The gated community of Elysium are able to
enjoy all kinds of luxuries, including healthcare technology that involve pods that cure every
illness and even prevents aging. The film follows Max DaCosta, played by Matt Damon, a hard
edged ex convict who is now a working class factory worker living in the run down, crime ridden,
poverty stricken slums of Los Angeles. Through flashbacks, we see that he had always dreamed of
escaping his circumstance, promising himself and his childhood friend that

Twelve Angry Men Juror 8 Analysis
Justice or Freedom In the drama Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose, juror 8 does a good job
in persuading the other jurors to listen and reconsider the evidence. He uses his rhetorical appeals
to captivate the other jurors attention. He gains an authority towards the other jurors which makes
them trust him more. Juror 8 deconstructs the testimony and evidence with his rhetorical appeal
to make the other jurors consider the innocence of the defendant. First, Juror 8 establishes his
credibility to support his arguments. He becomes the authority to the other jurors. I want to call

That s a very sad thing. A man like this needs to be recognized. To be questioned, and listened to,

Resolving Control Cost Conflict within The St. Clair Hospital

MHA 601: Principles of Health Care Administration
Dr. Prince Ordu
June 16, 2015
Introduction Conflict is a natural part of any work environment. What considers it healthy conflict
is how the individuals involved respond? Handling and resolving conflicts that arise in the
workplace is one of the biggest challenges managers and employees face. The consequences of
health care workers conflict are many. Patton goes on stating, At best, conflicts result in beneficial
changes in the workplace; at worst, it can impact patients lives. (Patton, 2013) By learning to
constructively resolve conflict, we can turn a potentially destructive situation into an opportunity
for creativity and enhancement for performance. Janice Frates stated, ...,having work teams at all
organizational levels openly and vigorously debate their ideas is a form of healthy conflict that
produces both stronger team relationships and better work outcomes. In regards to the St. Clair
Hospital plan for cost control, a healthy conflict did not arise.
Types of Conflict Identified Types of conflict identified throughout this particular case study would
include intrapersonal conflict and inter organizational conflict. Frates explained that intrapersonal
conflict is when the interdependence of departments within an organization can lead to conflict
which is often grounded in differing professional training and different measures

The 5 Elements Of Effective Thinking
Shocked standing in confusion you find out your friend intentionally failed at something you
needed help with. Trying to grasp the reason they failed you you are dumbfounded. Some people
believe that failure is essential for success. In the book, The 5 Elements of Effective Thinking, the
authors, Edward Burger and Michael Starbird, state that a person should intentionally fail in order
to succeed. However, this stance is inaccurate because it goes against biblical evidence, causes
psychological problems, and make successimpossible in the professional world.
Failing by intention is not a biblically sound concept; it undermines many biblical truths. In Acts
17:30 we are commanded to repent from sin. You can not repent from sin if you are intentionally
failing. Repentance is to completely turn away from something. It was explained to me as a child
that repentance is running away from something as fast as you can. If we apply the principle of
intentional failure in our lives it undermines what the bible commands concerning sin. Paul in
Romans 6:1 2 states What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may
multiply? Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Paul is pointing out that we
should not fail in our moral integrity simply because we can but rather strive to succeed. Through
Christ we have forgiveness from sin. Regardless, that does not allow allow us to sin as we please.
Failing should come about when we have put our

I Naturally And Instantly Chose `` Bohemian Rhapsody `` By...
For my song analysis assignment, I naturally and instantly chose Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen.
This song was the anthem of the 70 s and still, our anthem today. Nothing compares to the
harmonies and musicianship put into this song.
Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody on October 31, 1975.
This song was greeted like a gift from heaven in the largely desolated musical ground of the mid 70s
Freddie Mercury is the writer of the song also pianist and a lead vocalist in Queen. He wrote the
song in his apartment whilst he was trying to develop a complex song using a structure that leans
towards a more classical approach.
In the studio, the band embraced the psychedelic and progressive elements (which were initiating
throughout this era) and took them to another level.
Bohemian Rhapsody was nothing more than their simple their simple instrumental line up of
Guitar, Bass, Piano and Drums. However, they played them like they were something completely
new and in doing so; Queen delivered a new revolution of rock music.
Thrown into the period of glam, it was no surprise when Queen s elegance earned them a glam
rocker tag.
The title of the song has a powerful ideology. The word Bohemian could be traced to the practice
of an untraditional lifestyle. I believe the song has something to do with Freddie coming out as a
homosexual. In that era, it was not a normal thing and therefore majority of people were against it.
Interestingly enough the song has not got a chorus, but just

Themes like loyalty, disguise, and hubris are still relevant in modern literature and society.
However, one aspect of Homer s epic may have been more of an aspiration than a true reflection of
the world around him. Women in ancient Greece were relegated to the margins, while women in
The Odyssey were featured as important, multifaceted characters. The Odyssey would not be truly
feminist by today s standards; yet, modern feminist movements may have also found their earliest
feminist ideologies in Homer, as he reduced the inequality women faced in his writing. Homer has

its asbestos litigation liability, including the costs of settlement payments and defense costs
relating to currently pending claims and future claims projected to be filed against the Company
through 2017 for losses incurred to date. Before 2008, the Company s previous estimate was for

Creating competitive advantage through cultural dexterity
Highlights Cultural dexterity is a business skill that enables effective collaboration and
communication among people across multiple dimensions of diversity. Collaboration within a
group of diverse people, who approach problems from different perspectives, improves corporate
performance. The environment a company creates can enable or impede the success of its
employees. Leaders are personally accountable for creating a culture in which all employees clearly

Asbestos Industry Research Paper
For many years the asbestos industry manufacturers, suppliers, product developers, insurance
companies, etc claimed that they had no knowledge that asbestos could endanger the health and
well being of asbestos workers. Rather than protecting their employees and seeing a lower
bottom line these firms instead chose to hide the facts and deny any allegations that asbestos
was causing their employees to get sick and die. However, the dangers related to the inhalation
of asbestos fibers had been known for close to two thousand years. In ancient Rome, Pilny the
Elder observed that slaves who were forced to work in the quarries exhibited a high degree of
lung sickness. In 1918 a report published by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics noted that
people who worked in the asbestos industry were dying at an unusually young age. By the mid

Paul Cezanne On The Banks Of A River Analysis
The mesmerizing painting created by the 20th Century French artist Paul Cezanne portrays how
even incomplete works are capable of depicting its own form of art and overall experience. His
painting On the Banks of a River is constructed using oil on canvas and is an unfinished lifelike
rendering of a natural scenery; well preserved today at the RISD Museum. Cezanne s process of
paintingand his techniques are clearly discernible in this early stage of art. Likely using a wide
brush, his paint strokes are both purposeful and confident where his objective is to present only
the most vital parts of the piece and each object s location, creating an artwork made up of
blocky, thick, and layered strokes similar to that of impasto paintings (a technique that layers
large amounts of paint in order to form a larger picture). From close up it is challenging to
distinguish the subject of the painting besides multicolored blotches of paint, but at a distance
one can grasp the different shapes and colors merge to form a complete landscape. There are
also three layers to this work, each diverse and together offers a sense of depth in the form of
overlapping grounds and value contrasts. The foreground is the warmest, composed mainly of a
sandy yellow color dotted with gray streaks possibly representative of stones or pavement, with
some blue highlights to contrast the dirty yellow. The middle ground is the most detailed and
consists of many dark colors and bright red and yellow geometric

Importance Of Measuring Meridian Arcs Essay
The completion of the survey of a great chain of first order triangulation s along the arc of the 30th
meridian of east longitude, from South Africa to Egypt, is considered one of the most exceptional
surveying feats to ever be executed in Africa and thus its history has interested geodetic surveyors
throughout the world. This paper aims to expatiate on the importance of measuring meridian arcs,
the need to establish a geodetic survey in a country or continent and subsequently will recount the
sequence of events that led to the 75 year length completion of the African arc.
The size and shape of the Earth have been of interest to man since the earliest of times, dating as
far back to Eratosthenes in the third century. Throughout the years during the 18th and 19th
century, geodesists were pre occupied with the task of devising a more accurate determination of
the size and shape of the Earth. This led to the observing of necessary triangulations along arcs to
determine the radius of the Earth and its degree of flattening (MacDonald, 2000). The African arc,
conceived by Sir David Gill, Her Majesty s Astronomer at Cape Town, was created with the
understanding that it would contribute immensely to the better knowledge of the form and
dimensions on the Earth (Smith, 2006) therefore adding value to the advancement of geodesy.
However, besides the need to determine more accurate dimensions for the Earth (Hendriks, 1955),
there was a pressing need to establish a reliable and

Native American Modern Art
Modern is a term that can hold many different meanings. In order for something to be modern it
must be created or inspired by the experiences of living in modernity. A period of social, political,

broad it allows for lots of controversy about whether or not something is necessarily modern. When
it comes to modern artthis especially is an issue. In most of the worlds eyes modern art is a

Howe s painting style was very modern, stemming from both the style he was taught at the Studio

very abstract with bright colors and sharp geometric shapes. The styles used in the painting are very
similar to that of many other European modern artists. Regardless of this neither the modernist
movement nor the traditional indian painters accepted Howe s work. When Howe attempted to

working out can be great for those that train fasted in the morning. Research has shown that
taking BCAA supplementation can have a fatigue reducing effect allowing you to perform just

Robespierre, The French Revolution And The Symbol Of Evil...
Those people of the past that are studied as historical figures major and minor make up a virtually
insignificant portion of the people that have inhabited the earth since the beginning of civilization.
And yet to die without a memorable legacy is much more desirable a fate than to be remembered
with enduring hatred for what one accomplished and stood for during life. Certainly, there are
many who deserve to be remembered with spite people whose beliefs and actions were
unacceptable whether evaluated in a modern context or that of their own period. And yet still some
are hated for centuries, mainly due to having made powerful enemies while alive. Maximilien
Robespierre, who is often regarded as the leading figure of the French Revolutionand the symbol of
violent excess during that period, was one such person. Although the view of Robespierre within
the historical community has softened (to a certain degree), he remains a personification of evil
in the public mind. For example, the first result of a quick Google search for most evil people

Eichmann, Heinrich Himmler, and Osama bin Laden. While this website is by no means a

a grossly inaccurate fashion. The legacy that was created for Robespierre by political opponents

But, over the years, the reverse has more often than not be the case in Nigeria. Before and after
independence, the state of Nigeria has always been riddled with the problem of ethnicity, and the
civil service as an institution that is suppose to be transparent and impartial has been affected by
this trend, so much so that the citizenry are beginning to lose faith in the civil service institution
due to poor and ineffective service delivery. Given the above view, this paper intends to ascertain
the claim that, ethnicity has impacted negatively on civil service delivery in Nigeria. In the
circumstance effort will be made to answer the following questions:

A relationship like this may or may not include full disclosure. In some cases, the faithful partner
accepts that there will be outside relationships but doesn t want to discuss it at all.
Swinging
One of the more controversial types of open relationships is the swinger lifestyle. In an open
relationship that includes couples dating others, there is often a focus on togetherness in the affairs.
In some cases, the couple dates other couples; however, there are many cases where the couple
adds a single third party to the relationship. The primary relationship comes first, but both partners
are open to fully disclosed outside relationships. When this is strictly sexual, a third (or fourth or
fifth or whatever) person may simply be included on occasion.
Swinging exists in a variety of other forms as well. In some cases, there may be a multitude of
people committed to openly sharing each other while forsaking all outside parties.

The House On Mango Street Rhetorical Analysis
As Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for females, once said, I raise up my voice not so I can
shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard...we cannot succeed when half of us are held
back. Malala is advocating for young females, giving them a voice that they may not have. She is
demonstrating how being a femaleshould be liberating, and women should not feel held back by
their gender. In The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros speaks of a similar idea. As Malala
indicates, Cisneros also indicates how being a womancan be empowering; however, Cisneros also
establishes how being a woman raised in a marginalized community can have adverse mental
and physical repercussions. Through countless stories and the motif of women sitting by
windows, Cisneros ratifies how draining it is to be an average woman in Esperanza s
community. In The House on Mango Street, women by windows depict women trapped by their
families, specifically their husbands, maturing into a disturbing image that portrays the failure
to be an individual that makes her own decisions. In the vignette Rafaela Who Drinks Coconut
and Papaya Juice on Tuesdays, the author tells of a woman who is too beautiful to look at,
saying, Rafaela who ... wishes there were sweeter drinks, not bitter like an empty room, but
sweet sweet like the island, like the dance hall down the street where women much older than
her throw green eyes easily like dice and open homes with keys (Cisneros 80). Rafaela is
yearning to be able to leave her home like the women she envies. She compares the bitterness of
her fruit drinks to the desolation and seclusion of the house, and wishes the drinks were sweeter,
expressing her looking out the window and longing for something more in life, like the fortunate
few women in her community have. A character Esperanza knows named Sally has received
abuse from her father, and when she gets married, Esperanza says, She says she is in love, but I

Appeasement In The 1930s
The British and French policy of appeasement in the 1930s towards Adolf Hitler and Germany is
historically viewed as a feeble attempt to avoid war. In their essay, Wishful Thinking or Buying
Time? The Logic of British Appeasement in the 1930s, Norrin M. Rispsman and Jack S. Levy
analyze appeasement purely as a tool of statecraft, and not under what circumstances appeasement
can be a successful policy. They argue that appeasement is not only used to reduce the possibility
of war with an adversary, but it can be used to conserve resources against a more immediate threat,
isolate an adversary, or to buy off time to build up a deterrence against that adversary (151).
Delving beyond the typology of appeasement, they analyze historical British documents... Show

Prime Minister Neville Chamberlin and his cabinet realized that Germany s military could severely
damage Britain s economic position, and that Britain did not have the financial reserves for an
immediate rearmament program that was not implemented over time (168). Also, Chamberlin s
government recognized the threats posed by Japan and Italy as well, and realized that they needed
to potentially safeguard British interests from simultaneous attacks (168). While Chamberlin later
would prioritize rearmament over other factors as the German threat grew, it furthers the authors
point of appeasement not being a naГЇve strategy, but one based on a logical understanding of
Britian towards its circumstances, and trying to make those circumstances favorable. Of course,
this chain of historical events all led to the famous Munich conference. There, Ripsman and Levy
argue that Chamberlin advocated for concessions with the hopes of speeding up Britain s
rearmament program and securing a common front with Italy to balance against Germany (174). In
addition, they also argue that Chamberlin recognized that his policy of appeasement was bound to
fail, but it was the best option for stopping a destructive war in a foolish attempt to save
Czechoslovakia when Britian was unprepared

Petroleum And Natural Gas Exploration Essay
Executive Summary
April 20, 2010 was the beginning of the end for British Petroleum. BP was started in 1901 by
William Knox D Arcy. Their mission is to operate oil and natural gas exploration, while
marketing and distributing all over the globe. The primary issues the company faces are
rebuilding their business after the tragic oil spill, their low oil prices and internal leadership
promotions. Following the 2010 oil spill, all of BP s top executives were fired, and the company
has continued to promote internally, as recent as February of 2016. The company has been trying to
rebrand itself and fix its disastrous public image that resulted from the poorly handled oil spill. Due
to these internal promotions, no new ideas have been introduced into the company and their efforts
in recreating themselves have since stalled, leading to unmotivated employees and decreased
profits. Although British Petroleum has solid production sites in Gulf of Mexico, Alaska, and
various areas of the U.S, the brand s name remains so tainted from past violations. The declining
price of oil, along with that environmental factors that affect the company, both nationally and
globally, have exacerbated this stall and caused the company a major issue in recovering their
public image, reputation, brand name, stock prices, and overall prosperity. These factors have
certainly not been beneficial to the company in recovering from the sixty one billion dollars BP
has had to pay as result of

William Shakespeare s Presentation of Domitius Enobarbus in Antony and Cleopatra
Traditionally Shakespeare s use of the role of a chorus is seen to have been used as an insight for
the audience into the prophesy of future events and what to expect throughout the play, usually by a
secondary character. In Antony and Cleopatra, Shakespeare expands the role of the chorus within
his presentation of Enobarbus. Enobarbus does not merely illustrate what consequences Antony s
and Cleopatra s actions will have but plays a significant and vital character whose actions earn the
admiration of the audience.

The Effect of Volcanic Eruptions on Climate
The Effect of Volcanic Eruptions on Climate
Introduction
Recently there has been a lot of research in the field of climate change, and much of it is focused
on anthropogenic affects on climate. However, there has also been a great deal of research focused
on natural Earth processes and how they affect the climate (Robock 2000). One natural process
which significantly impacts climate is volcanic eruptions. Volcanic eruptions affect the climate of
the earth in many ways (Zielinski et al 1997). Volcanic ash ejected during eruptions effect climate
by reflecting solar rays back into space, and thus cooling the surface of the Earth. Another way
volcanoes affect the Earth s climate, is the emission of many different types of volcanic gasses. ...

Compared to the total anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gasses, the effect CO2 and H2O
vapour have on global warming is relatively low, but spikes in greenhouse gas levels can be seen
when major eruptions occur (Cassadevall et al 1983). During the Mt St Helens eruption in
1980, Cassadevall et al (1983) used a gas chromatograph to measure the average daily emissions
of CO2 gas which he combined to form the average monthly emissions. He recorded that for six
months following the eruption over 5000 metric tons of CO2 were released per day then after six
months the emission rates slowly declined. The CO2 and H2O vapour released during eruptions
does have a marginal effect on the climate, but by far the most influential gases on Earth s climate
are the sulfuric gasses released.
Effects of Volcanic SO2 on Climate
The most common sulfuric gas released from volcanic eruptions is SO2. The effect that SO2
has on climate is much more complicated than other volcanic gasses such as CO2 and H2O
vapour. SO2 also affects Earth s climate much more severely than volcanic ash, CO2 and H2O
gasses (Zeilinski et al 1997). The kind of effect SO2 has on the climate is directly related to its
concentrations in the atmosphere and thus the amount of volcanic activity during a given time
frame (Robock 2000). When SO2 is released from volcanoes, it readily reacts with H2O and OH
compounds to form sulfuric acid H2SO4. Sulfuric acid acts like a typical aerosol reflecting solar
rays back

Victoria s Secret Comparison Essay
Though Victoria s Secret and Frederick s of Hollywood are somewhat similar, they do have some
differences. Beginning with Victoria s Secret, their products include bras, underwear, pajamas,
workout clothing and beauty products including perfume, makeup and body care. Their sizes for
bras do not go beyond a 40DDD, and their panty, sleepwear and workout clothingrange from sizes
XS to XL. They also have a section called PINK that has all of the same things for a younger age

Their bra sizes go from a 32A cup size all the way to a 42F and their panties and other lingerie
range in size from a small to a XXXL, so a difference from Victoria s Secret is that they are plus
size friendly. The color scheme on this website is black, gold and hot pink, very similar to
Victoria s secret. I noticed that that models have even larger breasts than the ones on the Victoria s
Secret website, and all are quite thin. Frederick s of Hollywood is definitely only supposed to be
marketing towards adult women. I don t view these two stores the same way because Frederick s
seems like they are marketed more towards adult women looking for sexy lingerie, whereas
Victoria s Secret is geared towards all age groups because they have a special section for teens.
They do sell some of the same products, but Victoria s Secret includes sleepwear, workout gear,
beauty products and apparel, and Frederick s sells strictly lingerie. I will say that they do convey
the same messages about sexuality, which is how women should always look sexy and want to be

grasped my attention: the evolution of technology and the unfathomable thoughts of inventors.

Summary Of The Political Allegory In Macbeth
William Shakespeare s Macbeth is widely thought to be written in 1606. Three years after the
ascension of James VI of Scotland to the English Throne as James I and some months after the
discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, although the exact date remains impossible to establish. The
turmoil of the era can be attributed to the civil unrest. The narrative acts almost as a instrument to
subjugate an unruly citizenship by purging negative emotions such as anger, fear or anxiety. The
Jacobean era was defined by its conflict not only between two warring ideologies but by opposing
political stances. Unionist and nationalist stood against each other in opposition to the change of
power dynamics, religious upheaval caused Englandto be further divided. Shakespeare s use of
catharsis acts as a balm providing the proper purgation of negative emotion and therefore supressing
real rebellion in James rule.
Lauded as the most instructive tragedy in the world Macbeth follows the typical five act structure
of the era, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and dГ©nouement. The familiarity of
this structure would have clearly reinforced for a contemporary audience that Macbeth would
face his inevitable downfall in the final fifth act. His fall from the seat of power echoes the
traditional belief in the great chain of being and the divine right of kings. As a political allegory,
Macbeth in part serves as a warning to potential despots. As critic Stephen Greenblatt has
observed, There is always someone who escapes the murderer s net, someone who poses a threat
seeks to redress an injury or simply remembers what it felt like to be free and unafraid. Macbeth is
more interested in power than in loyalty. In each subsequent act, we find that Lord Acton s
observation: Absolute power corrupts absolutely is true. Macbeth eventually will stop at nothing
not even his own beheading, to hold on to power:
I will not yield
To kiss the ground before young Malcolm s feet,
And to be baited with the rabble s curse...
I will try the last.
The Scottish play is without doubt an allegorical tool, but it can be viewed from many differing
perspectives for example while the narrative can be viewed as a political statement it could

Relationship Between Henson And Peary
Matthew Henson and Robert Peary had a strong relationship. They both had a need for
exploration, fame, and danger, and Henson s need is one of the reasons he started traveling with
Peary. The two men met when Henson was working at a clothing and hat store, when Peary
walked in and offered him a job. This job was to be his personal servant while he was on an
expedition in Nicaragua. Peary was going to head an engineering team to see about the possibility
of digging a canal across Nicaragua. Henson later wrote that he saw qualities in Peary that made
him want to participate in his services. After that expedition, Peary approached Henson with an
idea. He wanted to raise money to go to the arctic and wanted Henson to go with him. On their

Transitioning from Legacy Systems to an Enterprise...
Transitioning from Legacy Systems to an Enterprise Resource Planning System:
Benefits and Challenges
William Ward Lewis
CIS 537
Prof. R. Shi
June 16, 2008
Abstract:
As a result of technological advancements, modern businesses seek new and improved methods of
conducting their business processes. Systems have been designed to augment and manage core
business functions such as production, accounting, procurement, and human resources. However,
even with these systems in place, information is unreliable and inconsistent if they are on disparate
platforms. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software tackles this problem by integrating
business processes into a centralized system. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the information that was used to compose this paper was taken from prior ERP articles,
online reference tools, and ERP books.
What is an ERP System?
An ERP system integrates an organization s data and services in a single system. ERP systems
combine computer hardware and software during the process of integration. One thing most ERP
systems have in common is the use of a single database that is used to store information for
different system components. To obtain an ERP status, a given software package must successfully
function as at least two systems. For example, a software package can hypothetically be considered
an ERP system if it can execute human resources and financial functions.
Even though this will accomplish the function of an ERP system, ERP applications typically
support much larger business platforms (Wikipedia, 2007).
ERP, in its entirety, provides a single database that stores all the data for its individual modules.
Some of the modules an ERP system supports include, but is not limited to:
Manufacturing
Supply Chain Management
Financials
Projects
Human Resources
Customer Relationship Management
Data Warehouse
Table 1.1 summarizes the various modules that an ERP application supports and the business
functions that are carried out within each module.

The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian War
Ancient Greece during 4th Century BC was home to the city states of Sparta and Athens, who
during this time were the superpowers of the region. The Peloponnesian war between these city
states and their respective allies lasted from 431 404 BC, although conflicts between the two had
dated back further. Major fighting in the war occurred from 431 421 and ended in Athenian victory.
However, renewed conflict raged between 413 and 404 which resulted in Spartan victory.
The Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta evolved from a string of events which I am
going to look at to see if there was a single cause for this war.
In 435 BC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Potidaea was a member of the Delian League, Athens and her allies, it had maintained the
right to receive magistrates from its mother city every year. Tired of paying tribute to Athens and
resentful of Athenian rule the citizens of Potidaea supported a revolt to expel Athenian power.
Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to
aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any
appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the
Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war.
Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta)
made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the
Peloponnesian war.
After the Persian wars, there was a development of Athenian control when the Delian league was
formed which was an alliance of cities based around Athens. Each city contributed funds to help

The Oversexualization Of Women In Japanese Anime And Manga
WMST/PHIL 346
The Oversexualizing of
Women in Japanese Anime and Manga The Japanese are a very creative culture which have
produced several fantastic science fiction movies such as Gojira, which was an allegory for the use
of atomic bombs in war to the animated cartoons, known as anime in America, like Space Battleship
Yamato which portrayed the story of all the nations of the planet Earth joining forces to defeat an
alien invasion. Yamato and other animelike Mach A Go Go had female characters in the shows that
were both allies and sometimes love interest to the main characters, but still were depicted as
strong female role models and were drawn with normal features and body types. However, as
time has passed, women in anime have been more and more sexualized and this has had an
effect on how young people look at Japanese culture and women in particular. In this paper, the
effects of this practice will be observed. With the anime boom of the last few years, the way
women have been portrayed in these animated cartoons has been more and more sexualized.
Shows such as Fairy Tale depict the female leads as scantily clad fighters with rather large breast.
Even the youngest girl on the show that is around the age of 11 to 12 is depicted with larger than
normal breast. One of the main reasons for this is the rather strong patriarchal view of women in
Japan that is still there to this day. The article titled A Look at Japanese Feminism and Japanese
Misogyny from the website

The type of data itself is nominal not numerical. The income of both males and females is not as
accurate as we would like, because it has been collected within large income ranges, for example
$0 to $25,000. Therefore to use the data, midpoints must be found, doing this has caused the data
to become very general and does not show specifics on income levels per person. The incomes
are shown on the graph as midpoints which have a large range within them. This further shows
that the information is too general for many business applications and decision making. The graph
has narrowed down the five income midpoints of interest to three. These three income midpoints
were $12,500 $37,500 $62,500. However exactly what income levels within these ranges have not
been determined. This means that the information is vague. The information would be more
useful if specific income levels and have tried frequencies per income were investigated. The
graph would be more useful if it showed actual income levels and numbers of people within that
income level who had tried the product. It only tells us the midpoint which has a large range and
therefore, the information is quite general. This information would be fine if we wanted to target
general income groups but it would be insufficient if we wanted to determine specific income
levels who have tried the product, as we do not know what that income level

Essay On Whole Foods Market
Target Customers:
Whole foods Market targets people who are more interested in consuming high quality organic
foods and living a healthy lifestyle. They want natural and organic foods and are willing to pay
higher prices for that. They live in urban areas and are comparatively wealthy. Whole foods
Market provides a lot of options for them and a memorable consumer experience when they shop
for food. It makes sure to attract these people. In addition to this, to target average consumers it has
introduced 365 everyday value offering products at reduced prices.
Fairway targets all the urban class people. Though it does offer organic foods, it doesn t specialize
in that niche. It doesn t employ knowledgeable employees who can increase the sales of the
organic foods it offers.

AOL joined hands with Time Warner to create synergy between its online businesses and Warner s
media business.
Two significant factors affected the post merger company. One, the dot com burst meant adverse
effect on AOL s advertising revenues. And two, dial up subscribers decreased thereby affecting
revenues and overall profitability of AOL. A key element in the turnaround strategy should be to
offer free content on its portal. This strategy will benefit AOL in attracting more online users and
advertising revenues.
When AOL began operations it soon became the leading company for pay online subscriber
service, bringing easy to use Internet service to more than 30 million users. AOL was mainly
based on around its dial up business. With customers shifting to broadband, AOL was losing
subscribers rapidly. The dial up segment though profitable, was declining in revenues having lost
2.6 million subscribers in a period of one year. The share price of AOL Time Warner fell by 60%
after the merger. The merger was heavily criticized from all quarters.
Growth in advertising business came with AOL establishing itself as a support service rather than
an internet access provider. Seeing AOL s success Google entered into a global advertising
partnership with the AOL. Google acquired a 5% equity stake in AOL for US$ 1 billion. In
broadband, to be able to beat the competition they should be the first organization to

  • 2. Migraine Headaches Treatment and Cause of Migraines Jochon D. Dobbins The Academy of Health Care Professions Abstract The word migraine is a Greek word which means half of head . It is thought that people who suffer from Migraines usually experience pain on one side of their head. There are several signs or symptoms that are usually associated with migraines. Here are some examples. * Tiredness * Sensitivity to light * Nausea or vomiting * Sensitivity to certain smells * Reaction to eating certain types of foods There is no cure for a migraine. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, migraine is also very common in children. It has been reported in children as young as 18 months old. About 10% of school age children suffer from migraine. Half of all migraine sufferers have their first attack before the age of 12. Before puberty, boys suffer from migraine more often than girls. As adolescence approaches, the incidence increases more rapidly in girls than in boys. Migraine often goes undiagnosed in children and adolescents. In childhood migraine, head pain is often less dramatic or severe than other symptoms, such as unexplained nausea or vomiting, abdominal pain, or dizziness. Moreover, it is not uncommon for attacks to occur with only minor or even no head pain, making it hard to diagnose. Motion sickness is an early warning of the predisposition to childhood migraine. In childhood, the non headache symptoms are often referred to as migraine equivalents. While symptoms of childhood and adolescent migraine may be different from those typically found in adults, children are just as disabled. Children who suffer from migraine are absent an average of 7.8 days from school each year, compared to 3.7 days of absence for children without migraine. Treatment for childhood and adolescent migraine depends on the age of the child and the frequency and severity of the attacks. Although there are well over 100 drugs used to prevent or treat migraine symptoms, none have been approved for use in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reflection And Educational Differences In The Educational... When we started this eight week course about differentiation I already had a lot of background information on this subject. I did learn a few things about how to help my colleagues jump on the bandwagon of differentiation. By helping my fellow teachers change their mindset towards planning with differentiation in mind I am making a positive difference in my students educational experience. When differentiation is used properly students are taught lessons in ways that are both meaningful and specific to the students educational needs. Differentiation is a great tool that teachers can use to help decrease the educational gap between students skills and the grade level standards that they should be meeting. For this class we had to create a lessonwith differentiation in mind. For me this assignment was easy because I already plan my lessons with differentiation in mind. What came naturally with differentiation was differentiating for content, process, and product. Each station that I planned had some sort of differentiation to help students understand the concept that was being taught. Including these extra strategies was easy and did not add any extra time for me to plan. What I found to be more challenging was differentiating with readiness in mind. With 50 plus students in my gymnasium I have a wide range of skill levels. This means that I have to use my pre assessment data in order to figure who might need more help and who can be pushed a little further to extend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Theme Of The Book Thief And The Things They Carried Do you like war? Do you despise war? Have you ever attempted to help someone during a war, probably not though? In The Book Thief, there is a girl named Liesel who were adopted by Hans and Rosa Hubermann and they helped harbor a Jew during WWII. In The Things They Carried, is about a soldier named Jimmy Cross who adores an English major named Martha and then one of the soldiers gets shot and assassinated which makes Jimmy forget about Martha and become a better leader. In The Book Thief and The Things They Carried have some similarities and differences and some of them I ll explain with literary devices. The theme for The Book Thief is death/war/brutality and the theme for The Things They Carried is to focus on what s more important than yourself. For my opening body paragraph, one important literary device that both authors used is symbolism. In The Book Thief, Markus Zusak starts of the symbolaround the end of the book. Even though The Book Thief is a morbid and a demonic book which has a lot of war and death in it, the dominoes represents how they, were falling like dead bodies in the living room. (410). Well, in The Things They Carried, it also has the same symbol which relates back to dominoes and how Tim protested against the war, but not enough to be considered a pacifist. Also, how he thought about, Ho Chi Minh a Communist stooge, or a nationalist savoir, or both, or neither?... What about SEATO and the Cold War? What about dominoes? (38). That showed how the ... • 6. Maupassant s The Necklace In Guy de Maupassant s The Necklace Mathilde Loisel, a middle class housewife, fantasizes about leading a life of wealth. Mme. Loisel is a proud woman. She feels herself born for all the delicacies and all the luxuries . Since she was born into a middle class family, she lacks access to the comforts of an upper class life. Thinking that her beauty should earn her a higher place in society, she is discontent. She stopped seeing her wealthy former schoolmate because she suffered ceaselessly when she came back. Seeing Mme. Forestier, whom Loisel had once viewed as a peer, in a higher social status than herself disgusts Loisel. She attempts to make a good outward appearance to others in order to make up for her contempt for her social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Loisel s pride causes her to make her first mistake shortly before the ball. Committed to the belief that there s nothing more humiliating than to look poor around other women who are rich, she decides that to merely have a dress is not good enough. She tells her husband that she wants jewelry. So she asks her old school friend (whom she otherwise avoids) if she can borrow a necklace, which as far as she knows may be worth thirty six thousand francs. She uses this necklace at the ball, dancing with other men than her husband, while he sleeps in the back room. Between the hours in a crowded ballroom and the long walk to find a cab in the night, it was not at all improbable that the seemingly valuable necklace would have been stolen. Whether the necklace is stolen or just misplaced, it is indeed lost. Had she stopped to think, Mme. Loisel may have realized that there was some risk in borrowing a necklace that she thought was so expensive. Also, the impression she makes at the ball would not likely have much bearing on her life later on. Her refusal to wear natural roses shows us that one of her worst fears is to appear poor. Thus to prevent injury to her pride she makes a gamble in which winning will bring little, and losing, although the chance of such is overlooked, has drastic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Like many other writers in Italy at that time he wrote it under a pseudonym Carlo Collodi. Collodi himself was a firm believer in education and one of his main goals was to educate young people, at one point declaring. Open a school, and you will close a prison (Collodi in Person, p 141). His novel about Pinocchio continually portrays the virtues of education and the evils of sloth. • 8. Fossil Fuels Are A Non Renewable Source Of Energy 86% of the energy the USA uses comes from fossil fuels like petroleum and coal that provide electricity and gas to power our growing energy needs. Fossil fuels are a non renewable source of energy, meaning that we will eventually run out one day in the near future. When we drive our cars to work, taking long showers, and leaving the lights on, we usually don t realize how much of our resources we are using. Fossil Fuels, Power Plants and Fracking cause many of our environmental problems that the world faces today due to our growing dependence on energy. These environmental problems include global warming, air quality deterioration, oil spills, and acid rain. Saving and producing energy from a renewable resource such as sunlight not only helps to conserve our limited resources but also translates into happiness, safety for our environment, boundless energy, and a personal benefit, such as financial savings. During the 18th century, massive quantities of fossil fuels were used to power the economy let alone the world. MHI states that During the Industrial Revolution, fossil fuels seemed to be the ideal energy source because of its seemingly endless supply. Many machines during the Industrial Revolution such as the Steam locomotives, used coalas a form of energy which would fuel the machine early on to balance the lack of firewood and charcoal. In order to understand, we will start looking at Chinese modern architecture from China s construction boom period when China started to introduce international architects and internal migrant workers, their influence and affect on Chinese modern architecture. Background of Contemporary Architecture and construction/ The Globalisation influence ( Chinese modern architecture: more influenced by the west) In retrospect, this boom is solely responsible for modern China s architectural movement, and this only truly began in the last 15 years. Just 20 years ago, there were no private architectural firms in China, only state run institutes. Due to the huge demands of the rapid urbanisation of Mainland China starting from 2008 olympics, there was a sudden need for architects and planners to facilitate construction, and this itself forced a transition in architectural production to take place, as the local workforce both architects and labourers did not possess the necessary capacity alone. This led to an influx of international architects and migrant workers into China. One might say that the construction boom is a golden opportunity for millions of people to earn a decent salary and improve their living standards, moving on from poverty. In fact, the Olympics attracted millions of migrant workers from the rural villages. From an economics point of view, this is an opportunity to stimulate the economy ... SPORT The practices run by Conan Doyle were not particularly successful, and so Conan Doyle would often find that he had plenty of spare time to indulge in other interests, including writing and playing sport. • 12. A Film Market That Is Not Reach The Same Level Of... In a film market that is saturated with mindless multi million dollar blockbusters, a seemingly thematically ambitious one like Elysium can stand out amongst the clutter. Blomkamp has tackled allegory before with his acclaimed debut District 9. Though it by all means isn t a perfect film, District 9 stood out for its approach at sci fi allegory, mixing documentary like filmmaking with spectacular action set pieces while thoughtfully tackling themes of racism and xenophobia. However, Elysium does not reach the same level of sophistication as Blomkamp s previous work. Elysium is a film with great potential for social commentary through science fiction storytelling, that is unfortunately marred by shallow Hollywood spectacle, clichГ©s, and plot contrivances that discredit the film s themes. Set in 2154, Elysium portrays Earth as a society plagued by overpopulation and excess pollution, where the privileged elite live in a ring shaped satellite that orbits the earth known as Elysium. The gated community of Elysium are able to enjoy all kinds of luxuries, including healthcare technology that involve pods that cure every illness and even prevents aging. The film follows Max DaCosta, played by Matt Damon, a hard edged ex convict who is now a working class factory worker living in the run down, crime ridden, poverty stricken slums of Los Angeles. Trying to grasp the reason they failed you you are dumbfounded. Some people believe that failure is essential for success. In the book, The 5 Elements of Effective Thinking, the authors, Edward Burger and Michael Starbird, state that a person should intentionally fail in order to succeed. However, this stance is inaccurate because it goes against biblical evidence, causes psychological problems, and make successimpossible in the professional world. Failing by intention is not a biblically sound concept; it undermines many biblical truths. In Acts 17:30 we are commanded to repent from sin. You can not repent from sin if you are intentionally failing. Repentance is to completely turn away from something. It was explained to me as a child that repentance is running away from something as fast as you can. If we apply the principle of intentional failure in our lives it undermines what the bible commands concerning sin. Paul in Romans 6:1 2 states What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply? Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it? This song was the anthem of the 70 s and still, our anthem today. Nothing compares to the harmonies and musicianship put into this song. Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody on October 31, 1975. This song was greeted like a gift from heaven in the largely desolated musical ground of the mid 70s Freddie Mercury is the writer of the song also pianist and a lead vocalist in Queen. He wrote the song in his apartment whilst he was trying to develop a complex song using a structure that leans towards a more classical approach. In the studio, the band embraced the psychedelic and progressive elements (which were initiating throughout this era) and took them to another level. Bohemian Rhapsody was nothing more than their simple their simple instrumental line up of Guitar, Bass, Piano and Drums. However, they played them like they were something completely new and in doing so; Queen delivered a new revolution of rock music. Thrown into the period of glam, it was no surprise when Queen s elegance earned them a glam rocker tag. The title of the song has a powerful ideology. The word Bohemian could be traced to the practice of an untraditional lifestyle. I believe the song has something to do with Freddie coming out as a homosexual. In that era, it was not a normal thing and therefore majority of people were against it. Interestingly enough the song has not got a chorus, but just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper aims to expatiate on the importance of measuring meridian arcs, the need to establish a geodetic survey in a country or continent and subsequently will recount the sequence of events that led to the 75 year length completion of the African arc. The size and shape of the Earth have been of interest to man since the earliest of times, dating as far back to Eratosthenes in the third century. Throughout the years during the 18th and 19th century, geodesists were pre occupied with the task of devising a more accurate determination of the size and shape of the Earth. This led to the observing of necessary triangulations along arcs to determine the radius of the Earth and its degree of flattening (MacDonald, 2000). The African arc, conceived by Sir David Gill, Her Majesty s Astronomer at Cape Town, was created with the understanding that it would contribute immensely to the better knowledge of the form and dimensions on the Earth (Smith, 2006) therefore adding value to the advancement of geodesy. Those people of the past that are studied as historical figures major and minor make up a virtually insignificant portion of the people that have inhabited the earth since the beginning of civilization. And yet to die without a memorable legacy is much more desirable a fate than to be remembered with enduring hatred for what one accomplished and stood for during life. Certainly, there are many who deserve to be remembered with spite people whose beliefs and actions were unacceptable whether evaluated in a modern context or that of their own period. And yet still some are hated for centuries, mainly due to having made powerful enemies while alive. Maximilien Robespierre, who is often regarded as the leading figure of the French Revolutionand the symbol of violent excess during that period, was one such person. Although the view of Robespierre within the historical community has softened (to a certain degree), he remains a personification of evil in the public mind. For example, the first result of a quick Google search for most evil people includes a list of 25 historical figures, with Robespierre at no. 17, ahead of others such as Adolf Eichmann, Heinrich Himmler, and Osama bin Laden. The House On Mango Street Rhetorical Analysis As Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for females, once said, I raise up my voice not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard...we cannot succeed when half of us are held back. Malala is advocating for young females, giving them a voice that they may not have. She is demonstrating how being a femaleshould be liberating, and women should not feel held back by their gender. In The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros speaks of a similar idea. As Malala indicates, Cisneros also indicates how being a womancan be empowering; however, Cisneros also establishes how being a woman raised in a marginalized community can have adverse mental and physical repercussions. Through countless stories and the motif of women sitting by windows, Cisneros ratifies how draining it is to be an average woman in Esperanza s community. In The House on Mango Street, women by windows depict women trapped by their families, specifically their husbands, maturing into a disturbing image that portrays the failure to be an individual that makes her own decisions. In the vignette Rafaela Who Drinks Coconut and Papaya Juice on Tuesdays, the author tells of a woman who is too beautiful to look at, saying, Rafaela who ... wishes there were sweeter drinks, not bitter like an empty room, but sweet sweet like the island, like the dance hall down the street where women much older than her throw green eyes easily like dice and open homes with keys (Cisneros 80). She compares the bitterness of her fruit drinks to the desolation and seclusion of the house, and wishes the drinks were sweeter, expressing her looking out the window and longing for something more in life, like the fortunate few women in her community have. A character Esperanza knows named Sally has received abuse from her father, and when she gets married, Esperanza says, She says she is in love, but I think she did it to escape (Cisneros 101) and, She sits at home because she is afraid to go outside without his permission (Cisneros 102). They argue that appeasement is not only used to reduce the possibility of war with an adversary, but it can be used to conserve resources against a more immediate threat, isolate an adversary, or to buy off time to build up a deterrence against that adversary (151). While Chamberlin later would prioritize rearmament over other factors as the German threat grew, it furthers the authors point of appeasement not being a naГЇve strategy, but one based on a logical understanding of Britian towards its circumstances, and trying to make those circumstances favorable. Of course, this chain of historical events all led to the famous Munich conference. Their mission is to operate oil and natural gas exploration, while marketing and distributing all over the globe. The primary issues the company faces are rebuilding their business after the tragic oil spill, their low oil prices and internal leadership promotions. Following the 2010 oil spill, all of BP s top executives were fired, and the company has continued to promote internally, as recent as February of 2016. The company has been trying to rebrand itself and fix its disastrous public image that resulted from the poorly handled oil spill. Due to these internal promotions, no new ideas have been introduced into the company and their efforts in recreating themselves have since stalled, leading to unmotivated employees and decreased profits. Although British Petroleum has solid production sites in Gulf of Mexico, Alaska, and various areas of the U.S, the brand s name remains so tainted from past violations. The declining price of oil, along with that environmental factors that affect the company, both nationally and globally, have exacerbated this stall and caused the company a major issue in recovering their public image, reputation, brand name, stock prices, and overall prosperity. The Effect of Volcanic Eruptions on Climate The Effect of Volcanic Eruptions on Climate Introduction Recently there has been a lot of research in the field of climate change, and much of it is focused on anthropogenic affects on climate. However, there has also been a great deal of research focused on natural Earth processes and how they affect the climate (Robock 2000). One natural process which significantly impacts climate is volcanic eruptions. Volcanic eruptions affect the climate of the earth in many ways (Zielinski et al 1997). Volcanic ash ejected during eruptions effect climate by reflecting solar rays back into space, and thus cooling the surface of the Earth. Another way volcanoes affect the Earth s climate, is the emission of many different types of volcanic gasses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Compared to the total anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gasses, the effect CO2 and H2O vapour have on global warming is relatively low, but spikes in greenhouse gas levels can be seen when major eruptions occur (Cassadevall et al 1983). During the Mt St Helens eruption in 1980, Cassadevall et al (1983) used a gas chromatograph to measure the average daily emissions of CO2 gas which he combined to form the average monthly emissions. He recorded that for six months following the eruption over 5000 metric tons of CO2 were released per day then after six months the emission rates slowly declined. The CO2 and H2O vapour released during eruptions does have a marginal effect on the climate, but by far the most influential gases on Earth s climate are the sulfuric gasses released. Effects of Volcanic SO2 on Climate The most common sulfuric gas released from volcanic eruptions is SO2. The effect that SO2 has on climate is much more complicated than other volcanic gasses such as CO2 and H2O vapour. SO2 also affects Earth s climate much more severely than volcanic ash, CO2 and H2O gasses (Zeilinski et al 1997). The kind of effect SO2 has on the climate is directly related to its concentrations in the atmosphere and thus the amount of volcanic activity during a given time frame (Robock 2000). When SO2 is released from volcanoes, it readily reacts with H2O and OH compounds to form sulfuric acid H2SO4. Sulfuric acid acts like a typical aerosol reflecting solar rays back ... • 47. Summary Of The Political Allegory In Macbeth William Shakespeare s Macbeth is widely thought to be written in 1606. Three years after the ascension of James VI of Scotland to the English Throne as James I and some months after the discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, although the exact date remains impossible to establish. The turmoil of the era can be attributed to the civil unrest. The narrative acts almost as a instrument to subjugate an unruly citizenship by purging negative emotions such as anger, fear or anxiety. The Jacobean era was defined by its conflict not only between two warring ideologies but by opposing political stances. Unionist and nationalist stood against each other in opposition to the change of power dynamics, religious upheaval caused Englandto be further divided. Shakespeare s use of catharsis acts as a balm providing the proper purgation of negative emotion and therefore supressing real rebellion in James rule. Lauded as the most instructive tragedy in the world Macbeth follows the typical five act structure of the era, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and dГ©nouement. The familiarity of this structure would have clearly reinforced for a contemporary audience that Macbeth would face his inevitable downfall in the final fifth act. His fall from the seat of power echoes the traditional belief in the great chain of being and the divine right of kings. As a political allegory, Macbeth in part serves as a warning to potential despots. As critic Stephen Greenblatt has observed, There is always someone who escapes the murderer s net, someone who poses a threat seeks to redress an injury or simply remembers what it felt like to be free and unafraid. Macbeth is more interested in power than in loyalty. In each subsequent act, we find that Lord Acton s observation: Absolute power corrupts absolutely is true. Macbeth eventually will stop at nothing not even his own beheading, to hold on to power: I will not yield To kiss the ground before young Malcolm s feet, And to be baited with the rabble s curse... Systems have been designed to augment and manage core business functions such as production, accounting, procurement, and human resources. An ERP system integrates an organization s data and services in a single system. ERP systems combine computer hardware and software during the process of integration. One thing most ERP systems have in common is the use of a single database that is used to store information for different system components. To obtain an ERP status, a given software package must successfully function as at least two systems. For example, a software package can hypothetically be considered an ERP system if it can execute human resources and financial functions. Even though this will accomplish the function of an ERP system, ERP applications typically support much larger business platforms (Wikipedia, 2007). ERP, in its entirety, provides a single database that stores all the data for its individual modules. The information would be more useful if specific income levels and have tried frequencies per income were investigated. The graph would be more useful if it showed actual income levels and numbers of people within that income level who had tried the product. It only tells us the midpoint which has a large range and therefore, the information is quite general. This information would be fine if we wanted to target general income groups but it would be insufficient if we wanted to determine specific income levels who have tried the product, as we do not know what that income level ...
