Eczema Research Paper
What are the home remedies for eczema, and what is eczema? Eczema (dermatitis) is an
inflammation of the skin that causes itching, redness and discomfort. If the eczema is a chronic
problem, the skin will continue to itch and become thick like leather. Usually dry scales
develop, and the skin s color may change. Eczema is very common and affects one in twelve
people. Eczema usually first appears in early childhood and tends to disappear when the child
grows up. However, it can resurface at a later stage, and can also affect an adult who hasn t
previously suffered. There are kinds types of eczema. The main ones are contact eczema, caused
when an allergen comes in contact with the skin, and atopic eczema which is passed on genetically.

Fruits such as cranberries, blueberries, pears and bananas are recommended. Munk beans,
bamboo shoots and purslane are also beneficial. You should consume essential fatty acids
everyday. Flaxseed and flaxseed oil are great sources of fatty acids. Add some oil and seeds to
your foods and vegetables. Do not bake or expose flaxseeds and their oils to high temperature,
because they change with heat. It is important to increase the intake of cold water fish such as
herring, salmon and mackerel. For children, add a teaspoon of fish oil a day. Fat from the fish
reduces swellings and adds moist to the skin. Eat pumpkin or sun flower seeds daily. They are
excellent source of zinc, a mineral that encourages the proper metabolism of essential fatty
acids. Reduce your caffeine intake as it dehydrates the skin. Drink plenty of water daily for the
skin to be moist. Candidiasis is a possible cause of eczema, so eat cultured or sour products
everyday to stimulate the growth of good bacteria which is needed for good immune system. Diet
home remedies for eczema play a very significant role in treating eczema. Which foods cause

Native American Style Beadwork By Elizabeth Sorensen

Senior Project Research Essay
Native American Style Beadwork The horses jump around screaming, the bulls snorting, and
time for the rodeo to start. Before the bareback rider gets on his horse I notice his belt, fabricated
with beautiful authentic leather and his last name on the back made of beads, this belt caught
my eye because the beads were bright, and vibrant. I have been looking for this perfect beaded
belt for two years. Nevertheless, I did not want to spend the three hundred dollars to have
someone else make one for me, so I decided I would wait until my senior year to make this my
senior project, and here I stand today.
There is many things a person needs to know about Native American bead working; the history of
Native American beading, comparing and contrasting traditional bead colors with modern bead
colors, thread types, tools needed to do modern bead working, and what bead workers can make
using modern beading. Native American beading has been accomplished for an unknown amount
of time; but, beadwork is one of the most notorious art forms practiced by the Native American
people. Native American people fashioned their own beads pending the appearance of Europeans.
Since none of the Native Americans has metal tools, producing beads was a long, tedious,
procedure. The tools the Native Americans did use, were made of stone or wood and adhesives
such as sand. (Kansas

The Blood Rushing Effect On Readers, And Dracula By Bram...
Only few stories and novels have the blood rushing effect on readers, and Dracula by Bram
Stoker is one of those novels. This novel utilizes the method of using letters and other documents
in order to tell the story. The application of the epistolary technique in the story Dracula proves to
be quite effective because it does enable the reader to foresee the happenings in the story on a
closer and more personal scale. In this novel, the man who writes the letters in Transylvania
experiences a vast amount of supernatural experiences. Within the first four chapters of Dracula,
Jonathan Harker witnesses supernatural occurrence s such as seeing flickering blue lights, how
Jonathan Harker s coachman magically made the were wolves disappear, and how he cannot see
the Count Dracula s reflection in the mirror. In the novel Dracula, Jonathan Harker tries to
overlook these supernatural occurrences because of Mr. Hawkins interest. However, this reason
may not be the most realistic justification in why Jonathan is persistent in his stay, but rather he is
also aware that he is a prisoner. The novel Dracula also has many other supernatural aspects such
as the three women in Count Dracula s house, and how Count Dracula proceeds down the walls in
a lizard like manner. In the novel Dracula, it could be argued that Jonathan Harker is not a reliable
narrator because of the fact that he is the only one in the book experiencing these occurrences and
his mental state is questionable at times. The

The Importance Of Inclusion In Special Education
The term inclusion is defined as being included within a group or structure. In education, this refers
to the inclusion of special needs students with non disabled students for the entire, or most of, the
school day. In most schools today, students with special needs are separated from the other students
for the majority of the day. The debate of how special needs students should be incorporated in
schools has been going on for years. There is an argument to both sides of this debate, however,
both have to consider segregation, inclusion, integration and ultimately respect. For many years
school systems have been attempting to perfect special education. They have been developing new
techniques and skills to better suit different disabilities that a student might have. The question at
hand now is if the segregation of students with disabilities from those without disabilities should be
the standard for all schools. Mary and Kenneth Smith, authors of I Believe in Inclusion but...,
conducted a study to describe teacher s perceptions of factors that contributed or hindered success in
inclusion based classrooms. The study suggests that students with special needs need more
attention than other students. Research has indicated that classroom teachers may be very skeptical
of inclusion and that they strongly expect that the practice will present inherent problems. (Smith,
Mary K., and Kenneth E. Smith 80 161). Another reason that Smith and Smith make is that with

Biohazard Island is a not very well known facility. It was an island southeast of New York. The

Diva shoes is an international shoes company that is experiencing rapid growth. Due to this rapid
growth, the company never established a robust hedging strategy to protect itself against
fluctuations of the multiple currencies it engages with.
This situation became more severe in Japan. The company s growth in Japan exceeded all
expectations, and unlike other countries in which the company conducted business (Italy for
example) the company had almost no expenses there, and had to convert all the Yens it generated
from selling its merchandise to dollars.
In the last few years, the Yen appreciated against the dollars, making the company s lack of hedging
strategy have little to no impact on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, I used the SG amp;A expenses as a percent of the revenue for 1994, then used the same
ratio for 1995. I m aware that this is not a great projection, as it ignores economies of scale and
efficiency improvements as the company grows, but for the purposes of this projection, it s the
best I can do. The calculation is shown in the excel spreadsheet. e. I estimated the Yen/Dollar
exchange rate to be 90. It is a bit higher than the current spot rate, but follows the trend according
to exhibit 1. Exhibit 1 shows an appreciation to the Yen, which slows down to a crawl near the
beginning of 1995. Based on the case I believe it is safe to assume a minor depreciation to the Yen
for Sep 1995.
Based on the assumptions above I project revenues for 1995 to be $93,939,025.90
4. Similar to question 3, this question require me to make several assumptions. I ve used the exact
same assumptions as the ones made in question 3.
Using these assumptions, I project net income to be $8,874,315.89. This means that the EPS for
1995 is $0.74 which reflects a 20.71% growth year over year.
The full calculation and income statement for 1995 is shown in the attached spreadsheet. 5. The
statement is accurate. If Diva Shoes hedges with either an option or a forward contract that locks
the exchange rate of the Yen to 92 Yen/Dollar the EPS growth will still be above 15%. Full
calculation can be shown in the attached spreadsheet.

Power Of The Three Witches In Macbeth
The Witches Three Cause Problems for thee
Shakespeare s tragic play, The Tragedy of Macbeth, has many thrills and chills which adds to the
plot. There s scenes that really make you think and ponder what Shakespeare could have meant.
One of the most controversial part of the play is who exactly held the most power in the play. The
answer to that is the three witches. They held this so called power through magic and words, which
held a very potent influence on Macbeth and other people.
To begin, we see the witches three in the middle of the battlefield cackling, All hail Macbeth, hail to
thee, Thane of Gawdor (I,111,45)! Through the power of the witches magic, they managed to
poison his mind, through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the witches three tells a story which begins with her saying A sailor s wife had chestnuts
in her lap and munched and munched and munched. Give me some quoth I. Aroint thee, witch

as hay, and sleep shall fail him night or day (I,111 5 20). The witches three hold power through
words because what they say, goes. Through words they tell the future. Through words, they
curse people who make them mad. Through words, they can easily make something sound
really promising, and make it sound like it will all end well. It s the exact opposite. To get some
answers, Macbeth travels to the witches cave. The witches were expecting him, of course and the
chanted Be bloody, be bold, and resolute to laugh to scorn, the power of man, none shall harm
Macbeth of women born(IV,180). These words obviously make Macbeth feel much better, but that
feeling overlaps the fact that these words are quite misleading. Macbeth, of course, didn t give it a
second thought or try to find everything wrong with that part. He heard what he wanted to and that
s all that mattered. He was ecstatic to hear he would never, ever be overthrown. Remember, he
lived in constant fear of being over

Violence In Dashiell Hammett s The Maltese Falcon
Humans are drawn to acts of a primal nature. Raw, passionate, and vastly entertaining; primal
instincts have always been at the root of human behavior. Archeologists say that the first humans
were found with spearheads embedded in their ribcage. Mankind s curiosity will always be sparked
by the thought of bloodshed. Just look at the entertainment we as a species hold most dear; violent
action films, movies about war, videogames based solely on the concept of killing the opponent, the
list in never ending. The fascination around violent acts is understandable. Since the invention of
society, the act of killing another humanhas been frowned upon by the rest of society. The contrast
of the acts of violenceto the norms of everyday life are hard... Show more content on

This mystery follows the escapades of Sam Spade as he hunts for the missing Maltese Falcon,
and the killer of his partner. Spade is described as a Blond Satan (1). This is not a rather
flattering way of describing your protagonist, and Hammett knew this. He knew that when
solving crimes, one must place himself into the mind of the criminals to truly understand their
reasoning. To do this for a living will take its toll, as Hammett knows all too well from his life as
a private detective in L.A. His private eye is gruff, cynical, and drinks far too much alcohol.
Spade is known for being far too honest at times saying, people lose teeth talking like that (94)
when trying to gain information. These are the coping mechanisms that Hammett gives Spade
to show his readers the human aspects of him. Spade might not be the most enjoyable company
but if you give him a case to solve he will give his all to solving it. This sounds like another
brilliant detective from the past. Sir Doyle would understand why Sam Spade is an effective
detective just by looking at his habits. Sherlock Holmes and Sam Spade are akin to one another
in the fact that they are both fallible humans with a knack for solving mysteries. Hammett is
brilliant in the way he uses the influence of perhaps the first hardboiled detective to add a human
side to the private eye. This type of writing is far above the caliber expected of a pulp fiction
author, and to this day literary scholars site The Maltese Falcon was vastly ahead of any other
work in its weight class. (Smith, 178) Dashiell Hammett proved the worth of an entire subgenre,
and helped the hardboiled detective become a part of American literature. To this day, when people
think of the private eye they jump straight to the clichГ© of a tough man of few words drinking
bourbon and hunting down the bad guys in a dark city street. This is

How Does The Concentration Of Hydrochloric Acid Increase...
Introduction:
The collision theory states that reactions are produced by the collision of particles. Frequent
collisions produce a faster reaction time and release greater energy. This energy is converted into
heat and therefore the temperature can be measured.
There are many factors that can increase the reactivity of an element when mixed with hydrochloric
acid. These include pressure, temperature, surface area and concentration.
The atmospheric pressure of a room affects the reaction rate as it forces the particles closer together
therefore inducing more collisions. The more energy released from the particles raises the
temperature. The higher the concentration of the solutions the more particles there are therefore
making it more likely to collide. The surface area can have an influence on the rate of reaction as
the element had more exposed surfaces, allowing the reactant to collide with the element.
It was known that a reaction had occurred as there was the formation of new substances from the
existing elements such as hydrogen. This was an exothermic reaction as it produced heat which was
another factor contributing to the increased reaction rate.

Understanding customer expectations is required for delivering superior service. The chapter states
that the customers compare perceptions with expectations when judging a firm s services.
However, the nature of customer service expectations and how they are formed has remained
ambiguous. Researchers have defined customer service expectations in a variety of ways but with
no conceptual framework to link different types of expectations. At this point it indicates their
interactions in influencing perceptions of service performance connect expectation with perception.

Why Do Hamlet Kill The King
The reason for Hamlets delay for killing the king has perplexed critics for centuries. Over the
centuries, each critic has developed their own reason towards the delay. Two reoccurring reasons
for Hamlets delay are as follows: Hamlet does not know the identity of the ghost and there is no
opportunity for his for his revenge.
In the middle ages, people did not question the existence of ghosts, rather than where they have
come from (heaven or hell). As John Wilson explains, that apparitions occurred was, indeed, not to
be doubted by reasonable persons (Ghost or Devil). This is where Hamlets uncertainty comes from.
Evidence of Hamlets uncertainty is shown after the ghost prompts him to murder the king. Hamlet
contemplates that, The spirit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Samuel Coleridge believes that Hamlet loses the power of action in the energy of resolve
(Lectures and Notes on Shakespeare and Other English Poets. He believes that Hamlet paralysis

Samuel Coleridge suggests that, Hamlet is brave and careless of death (Lectures and Notes on
Shakespeare and Other English Poets). A.C Bradley believes that Hamlet is neither indecisive, or
afraid, but believes that, Hamlet [is] not far from insanity (Shakespearean Tragedy). A.C Bradley
believes that the shock that Hamlet has received by his fathers death and his mothers remarriage
has made Hamlet insane, thus affecting his ability to act. It would not be incorrect to think this for
there are many times throughout the play where Hamlet is seen showing signs of near insanity. A
common theory to prove this is Hamlets visions of the ghost. Readers believe that the reason as to
why only Hamlet can see the ghost is that the ghost is only a figment of Hamlets imagination. This
would evidently mean that Hamlet has reached the point of insanity. These are some of the
additional beliefs of critiques as to why Hamlet delays his revenge on

The Executive Skills Gap And Operational Needs Of American...
The MBA Fairytale
Does the MBA address the executive skills gap and operational needs of American business
promptly and cost effectively?
Even though MBAs from the top schools earn more than business graduates with undergraduate
degrees, mid career managers are better off learning applied strategic skills than earning an MBA.
The generic classes in most programs, unrelated to current economic conditions, do not close the
executive skills gap or meet the operational needs of American business. Unless it s from a top tier
program, the lifetime value of the MBA is highly inflated.
Mid career managers are better off learning applied strategic skills than earning an MBA. They are
an endangered species! The end has come, not because Capitalism is doomed, but because of two
related phenomena: technology and the millennial generation.
Technology has altered our work habits, relationships, and roles within organizations. The classic
role of the manager was to monitor performance, offer feedback, and generate reports. Technology
now performs these tasks, leaving people with general management skills vulnerable. The
development of Agile services, associated with self managed teams and Gen Y, has further left
middle managers isolated. Rapid turnover is commonplace since the recession. Deep operational
knowledge, once associated with a lengthy tenure has evaporated.
Gen Y and the Millennials are resentful of anyone with no specific skills who acts only as a hall
monitor. These

learn their functions. Three animals specifically can be observed and compared: minks, frogs, and

confirmed the find (Wilson). Again, it s internal anatomy was similar to the other animals observed.
As stated before, dissections can help us discover the truth about our Creator and show us the
fallacies in evolution. The complexity and the uniformity found in all three of the animals observed
could not have happened by chance. The only answer is that there was an Intelligent Designer. The
differences found can be testaments to an Intelligent Designer as well. God designed all of the
internal organs to be sized so that the animal could function properly. If the liver in the mouse and
the liver in the mink were switched, neither would live because they need an organ made for them

the new president leaves office even if he were to win a second term. In fact, it s a safe bet to
say a nearly 2,000 mile long wall on the U.S. border with Mexico is a pipe dream as the workers
to put on this wall to make it happen in less than 8 years it would cost even more to the budget of
1.2 billion dollars to buy materials for this enormous wall (Magnuson). As President Trump

The Apparatus Of Violence In The Jim Crow Machine. Gabrielle
The Apparatus of Violence in the Jim Crow Machine Gabrielle Hatch
The Apparatus of Violence in the Jim Crow Machine
The rise of Jim Crow, a system of sustainable racial inequality, had a significant scope on racial
relations for subsequent years to come. Jim Crow laws and its prescribed etiquette operated and
represented the legitimization of anti blackness primarily but not exclusively in southern states of
the United States. Scholarship has justifiably surveyed these codes of conduct with stressing
African American disenfranchisement. However, violence has been presumed as a byproduct of the
Jim Crow system, rather than a mechanism that was used to undergird Jim Crow s place in
America s society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The extra legal nature of executions in colonial times met the public s desire for an active role in
society and for the conservation of values. As societies modernized, the culture of execution being
a public communal event dissipated (Pfeifer). It wasn t until racial slavery positioned Black people
on the outskirts of normal law and legitimized extra legal violence, that a re emergence of
collective and communal violence occurred. The conditions of slavery allowed the United States,
particularly the southern colonies, to revisit collective violence. Furthermore, it made necessary an
imposed draconian regime of punishment. Colonies adopted a separate penal code and fixed
slavery as permanent (Berg). In the criminal justice arena, the slave codes could not be restricted
by traditional English law. It was a loophole to creating a private violence that Whites could inflict
on Blacks.
Colonial slavery contributed to the later rise of lynching. For one, the nature of slavery positioned
African Americans as objects of hyper violence that was recognized under law. Furthermore, it
designated the responsibility of subordinating slaves as a collective effort from the community. It
rendered Whites as the overseers or the community hegemon above slaves. Lastly, once slavery was
abolished, Whites could not be permitted to use violence against Blacks. This resulted in Whites
swearing to uphold the duty of maintaining White superiority by all means necessary.

Measure By Shakespeare
Mia, I like what you had to say about the relationship between justice and mercy. I agree that
Shakespeare expresses a need for balance between justice and mercy. The only problem with that
is that Measure for Measure displays no real justice, only talks about it. The various characters of
the play solicit for a symbolistic balance, yet live their lives in uneven measures. Justice seems to be
an important theme of Measure for Measure yet its apparent absence found me wanting by the end
of the play. Measure for Measure attempts to examine the difference between justice with and
without mercy and the harmonious balance of both. This topic is of great importance during the
time this play was written because the means of punishment frequently

such as the death of her child and husband, and she changed the way people view vampires in
literature. Anne Rice has written many vampire books, including The Vampire Chronicles and she

Her mother put her in an academy that she hated. She persisted with school, even though she didn t

Anne and her husband, Stan Rice, to become alcoholics. She also developed Obsessive Compulsive
Disorder, thinking that everything she touched became contaminated. Because of that, she started
holding herself responsible for her child s death ( Anne Rice Famous Authors, 2017). She then had
another child in 1978, Christopher Rice, which led to her and her husband to quit drinking. Later,
her husband died from brain cancer when Christopher was 22 ( Anne Rice Famous Authors, 2017).
Anne Rice has changed the way people visualize vampires throughout history. She has impacted the
genre of vampires more than any person. The only person that might have done more is Bram

Ketchup Research Papers
Do you like eating something sweet? You may say yes, or no. But no matter what you answer, it
s sure that you will ingest sugar more or less every day, since the main food like rice, wheat and
potato are mostly made of a kind of sugar called starch. Besides of eating main food, most of us
will eat some snacks, like candy, potato chips, or have some soft drinks. It seems this kind of life is
normal, but WTO (2015) suggests that an adult male should reduce the sugarintake to around 8
teaspoons (about 32 grams) and adult woman should reduce to around 6 teaspoons (about 24
grams). What s the concept about this? We should know a fact that a teaspoon of ketchup
contains about 1 teaspoon of sugar and a bottle of soft drinks contains about 10 teaspoons of
sugar. What we eat are now full of sugar. We re in an age of excessive sugar , which can be

instead they choose the path of contemplation and confession, trying to revisit their past.
His wonderfully written dialogues help to create a calming influence on the film, which reveals the
depressing nature of the characters. For example, when the woman asks the man if he still enjoys
his work he says:
Sometimes you get used to things. After fifteen years it s not a matter of whether you like it or not.
You just forget about the tiny details.
The term tiny details is closely related with the flow of the movie as we see the band members,

Dow Chemical Company

last seven years has built their strategy around and focused on their niche , which is core chemicals

This was achieved by reducing the workforce by 30 percent and eliminating seven layers of
management. The current management structure contains only five people between the most junior

Strategy, which is increasing profitability by reaping the cost reductions that come from experience
curves and location economies and by expanding its market share outside of its home country. This
business savvy type of management approach seeks to penetrate a huge market availability, which
as global markets develop will gradually combine into just one market. In developing their mission
goals and corporate strategy, Dow Chemical has obviously considered both External and Internal
stakeholders and how strategic maneuvers would impact their ultimate goals. Examples of
stakeholder impacts are: External Stakeholders: Customers: Provide the core of revenue, especially
in untapped markets overseas. Suppliers: Provide input w/significant savings through combined
purchasing with Union Carbide Company and 13 other large companies. Governments: Significant
reduced manufacturing restrictions and potential incentives to conduct business in foreign
countries. Unions: Many foreign countries are not unionized, which could be a production cost
incentive. Internal Stakeholders: Stockholders: Maximizing their Return On Investment by
expanding operations and gaining access to difficult markets.

Emotional Intelligence And Professional Success
Emotional Intelligence in Nursing
Introduction
Emotional Intelligence 2.0 brings about the idea that the more someone is aware of their own
emotions and other peoples emotions they will have a significant increase in personal and
professional success by applying strategies from the four core emotional intelligence skills: self
awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship management. The idea of
emotional intelligence was first proposed in 1964 and since then other physiologists have added
their insights and broken it down into four to five different categories. Emotional intelligence (EQ)
was recently defined as one s ability to recognize own emotions and other people s emotions and
applying this understanding to manage your behavior and relationships (Bradberry Greaves, 2009).
With application to the nursing world, having high EQ knowledge will improve roles and functions
of nursing, teach fellow coworkers techniques to lead, and help individuals grow in identifying
emotions and further understanding one s self.
History of EQ Micheal Beldoch first introduced the idea of EQ in 1964, in Sensitivity to
Expression of Emotional Meaning in Three Modes of Communication, a paper that examined three
modes of communication: vocal, musical and graphic, to identify non verbal emotional expressions
(Beldoch, 1964). It was hypothesized that, like intelligence, emotional sensitivity might be
characterized by a general factor which operated in a variety of media,

resulted from an attack on Fannie Taylor and blamed the subsequent deaths on the action of black
residents (Rosewood report, p.28) Many of these newspapers in the south and some in the north
would try to justify the violence of the massacre, some like the Tampa Morning Tribune stating
that it was the abuse of a defenseless white women that stirred up the white men to cause the
violence they did. It was also said in the report that African American newspapers Condemned the

for three wishes from the King of the Forest. He then decides he wants three wishes. He uses his

However, once we become selfless, it is then when we will finally be content with our lives. This
theme first emerges when Mr.Peters asks for three wishes and uses the first one greedily by
asking for a wife in the forest. The theme is then refined when Mr. Peters had to make the
selfless decision of turning his wife back into a swan so she could be exultant. On top of that, he
refuses to use his third wish. He had now started to become unselfish. Nevertheless, the theme is
not fully developed until Mr.Peters dies and finally gets rid of greed and gains selflessness. In
addition, Mr.Peters had ultimately felt fulfilled. Mr.Peter s realizes that being greedy will never
make him feel good on the inside. Although, when he becomes selfless it makes him feel blissful.
Meanwhile, this can also help us in the real world too. When you are greedy, it might make you
happy on the outside, but not on the inside. It will just make you feel depressed, miserable, and
lonely in the inside. Being greedy will hurt others and will also never help us in the long run
either. On the other hand, if you open up your heart to care about others, it can make us feel
marvelous on the inside. You just need to make the small jump from being greedy to being selfless.

Portrayal Of African Americans During The Film The...
There are many times when people say that everyone has some sort of prejudice towards an ethnic
group. A perfect example is that of the portrayal of races through stereotypes in American films that
are being made and sold to the public. Since the beginning of the silent black and white movies
there have been stereotypes that misrepresent ethnic groups, such as the negative portrayal of
African Americans in minstrel shows. Although these extreme negative racist portrayals have
ended, the film industry still insists on adding stereotypes that negatively portrays ethnic minorities,
such as Asian Americans, Hispanics Americans, and African Americans. In the movie industry, no
minority has been exempt from being negatively portrayed in films, such as the Asian Americans.
During the first half of the 1900 s, Asian Americans were victimized through racist cartoons and
movies. Further negative representation of Asian Americans gained momentum during World War
2, particularly towards Japanese Americans. Further, in today s modern society, movies often depict
Asian Americans through stereotypes, such as Asian Americanwomen being portrayed as sexual

The Rate Of Preterm Birth Essay
For when a child is born the mother is also born again, has been rightfully quoted by Gilbert
Parker (Gilbert Parker, n.d.). Childbirth is one of the greatest privileges on the earth anyone could
have and we, as women, should feel proud to be major contributors for it. Thus, a mother has to
play a key role in aiding the healthcare workers to mitigate the health crisis associated with
childbirthby performing her duties faithfully. One such associated health crisis is Premature
(preterm) birth which occurs when the baby is born too early, before 37 weeks of gestational
period (CDC, 2015). The rate of preterm birth ranges from 5% to 18% of babies born across 184
countries (WHO, 2015). Premature birth is an important public health priority in terms of
health of women and infants. Every year an estimated 15 million preterm babies are born and
this number is still rising (WHO, 2015).In 2014, 1 of every 10 babies born in United States were
premature and black infants were 50% more likely to be born premature than white, Hispanic and
Asian/Pacific islander infants (CDC,2015). Almost 1 million children die each year due to
complications of premature birth (WHO, 2015). Major survivors face lifelong disabilities like
learning disabilities, hearing, visual, feeding, digestive, breathing and respiratory problems (CDC,

Conflict Between Xerxes And Herodotus

notion that highly different political structures do exist and may eventually clash is a prominent
one. In accord with Herodotus manner of incidentally placing the essential cores of his arguments
and observations in microcosmic episodes scattered across the body of his narrative, the exchange
between Xerxes and Demaratus in passages 101 105 of Book 7 serves as a gateway into exploring
and discussing the ways in which the Greeksand the Persians differ, both politically and socially.

Firstly, the dialogue is part of a series of implicit and explicit references in the History to the
radically different ways of living and governance that are exhibited by different societies.
Throughout their conversation, Xerxes and Demaratus juxtaposing assertions fuel Herodotus
ongoing discussion of what sets the Greeks and the Persians apart. This contrast, in turn, reveals the
disparity between those governed by the rule of law and those governed by an autocratic emperor.
In the History the Persian monarchy, as the prime example of unity under a centralized authority
figure, is consistently portrayed as resting on principles of fear, subservient conformity, and blind
loyalty. An example of this can be seen when Herodotus notes: All the rest of the Persians held their
tongues and did not venture to declare a judgment opposite to that which was in discussion (7.10).
This oft mentioned inability of the Persians to freely express their opinions and thoughts without
fear of punishment goes into suggesting the foundations of the Persian autocracy. The compulsion
of lash that Xerxes proudly favors during the dialogue becomes a potent symbol of monarchy in

Standard Deduction
Introduction
Standard deduction is a provision of the United States federal income tax system, which serves two
purposes including a least amount amount of untaxed income, thus acting as an ingredient of
progressivity. Second, it provides a simplified alternative to the itemized deductions for tax payers
with comparatively low itemizable expenses, thus relieving them of the record keeping and
computational burden of itemizing deductions. Having one provision is a compromise to other but
it is a compromise that is unnecessary. (Samansky, 1991)
A base sum of income that is not focused to tax and that can be used to decrease a taxpayer s
adjusted gross income (AGI), a standard deduction can only be used if the taxpayer does not
prefer the itemized deduction method of calculating taxable income. The sum of the standard
deduction is based on a taxpayer s filing status, age and whether he or she is disabled or claimed
as a reliant on another person s tax return.
The major reason taxpayers exercise standard instead of itemized deductions is that taxpayers don
t have to keep track of every potential tax deductible expense throughout the year. Plus, a lot of

hair loss skin rashes. This drug reduces the blood cells in the body. A decrease in white blood
cells leads to a risk of developing infections. A decrease in red blood cells can cause anaemia and
decrease in platelets increases the propensity of bleeding. Methotrexate increases the skin s
sensitivity to sunlight and hence you must use a high factor sun cream if you go out in sun.

Essay on Effectiveness of Law Reform
Evaluate the Effectiveness of Law Reform in Australia
Law Reform in Australia is effective in varying degrees. Through Native Title Reform and Law
Reform in Sport, the effectiveness of Law Reform in Australia is further outlined.
The term Native Title refers to the right of Indigenous people to their traditional land. In Australiait
has a legal significance of the right to an area of land, claimed by people whose ancestors were the
original inhabitants of the land before European settlement. Also who can prove that they have had
a continuous connection with the land. Native Title is the term given by the High Court to
Indigenous land rights by the Court in Mabo and others v State of Queensland (No.2) [1992] HCA

Sport is a part of Australian culture, in which Australian athletes have performed well over the past
years. Sport Law ranges over the areas of contract law, tort law, and the criminal law. Tort law is
the body of law that deals with civil wrongs including negligence, defamation, trespass and
nuisance.
Civil litigation is court action brought to remedy a wrong or breach of contract. This is shown
through Canterbury Bulldogs player Sonny Bill Williams breached his contract by walking out on
the club after having signed a contract which was legally binding. Through this law reform has
been further enhanced in Australian sport.
Compensatory damages of more than $68,000 were awarded and the court held that Bugden s
club bore vicarious liability for assault during being employed as a player. Vicarious liability is the
legal liability imposed on one person or agent (e.g. an employer) for the wrongful acts of another,
when those acts were done within the scope of the legal relationship between them, such as
employment.
The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is a statutory authority of the Australian government.
This established the Australian Sports Commission Act 1989 (Cth), the ASC plays a role in the

The Importance of the Act of Reading” by Paulo Freire essay
4
Bredahl
Harlie Cheyenne Bredahl
Professor Peter Epps
Composition II
08 September 2014
I The Importance of the Act of Reading by Paulo Freire, describes the importance of the act of
reading beyond numerous experiences in his life as a child, a teenager, and an adult. Freire
begins his article by taking readers back to where he was born, in his home city Recife, Brazil.
He uses very itemized imagery to describe the trees, the house and the atmosphere of where he
grew up and how the text, words, and letters were incarnated in the series of things, objects, and
signs. He describes the trees, the house and the atmosphere of where he grew up and how the text,

Schools often require reading materials containing unfamiliar subjects to students. Recognizing that
there is significance for critical understanding of the text itself as well as the act of reading, this
explains why many students today struggle with reading material that is not relevant to their
lifestyle. Freire portrays that by the statement, reading the world precedes reading the word, and
reading the word implies continually reading the world (Freire 286). A person should read their
world, and then interpret it. They can then use their existential experience of the world to connect
to what they are reading in print, and better understand it.
Reading a text as pure description of an object, and undertaken to mechanically memorize the
discrimination, it is neither real reading nor does it result in the knowledge of the object to which
the text refers (Freire 284). When a teacher gives a reading assignment, the students that read to
memorize the text likely do not gain the significance of what that literary work contextually
attempted to deliver, nor is it necessarily understood by the reader. If a student was really taught the
significance and meaning of the text instead of mechanically memorizing it, the student should
have better outcomes both with gaining the insight of the assignment and the memorization of key
points. Mechanistically

Epistemology And Belief Of Epistemology Essay
In this paper I will be writing about knowledge and belief referring to epistemology. I will be
answering questions such as, What is knowledge and What is belief . I will also answer other
questions related to the epistemology of knowledge and beliefs. Before we get into knowledge and
beliefs, we must define what epistemologyis and why epistemology is important. What is
epistemology? The word itself derives from two Greek words: Episteme meaning knowledge
and understanding and Logia meaning science of study. In philosophy, epistemology is the
study of knowledge, in general. Examples of epistemological questions would be; what does
knowledge mean, how does a person get to know something, and what is the basis for true
knowledge. Epistemology has to do with how people s minds are connected to reality, whether
invalid or valid. What is the importance of epistemology? Epistemology explains our way of
thinking. Through the correct use of evaluation, epistemology is necessary to be able to separate
what is true and what is false. We couldn t think if not for epistemology. In other words, we
wouldn t have a reason to trust our thinking was valid. We would anything we see or hear to be
true. An inaccurate epistemology would lead us to not know how to separate truthand mistaken
truth. Obviously, there are consequences to inaccurate epistemology. The level that our
epistemology is accurate is the level in which we grasp to concept of reality, and the level in which
we use

Descriptive Essay About Snowboarding
Ever since I can just about remember I have been Snowboarding. Well first I started off skiing,
but I wanted more of a challenge. What got me started was my older brother Daniel when he
tried it for the first time, he didn t stick with it because he hit his head to many times (I think he
is just a pansy). Him and his friends use to call me hobo Joe, which I kind of liked cause it
rhymes with my name Joe and It gave me attention. We would always go to this little ski resort
about 20 minutes away from our house and it was a blast, I loved it. I didn t have any friends to go
with at the time so I just tagged alot with my older brother which was fine enough.
I was 12 years old when we first started planning our trip to go to a resort in Colorado, I
remember sitting up at night talking with my older brother, counting down the days till we finally
got to leave for our skiing adventure. And to top it all off some of daniel s friends were coming
along with our cousin Jodi and oldest brother nick. Even though Daniel and his friends tease me at
times I still find it a lot of fun to hang out with them.
Dad how much longer till we finally get to leave? I would ask my dad with urgency, not
understanding at the time that asking ever couple of hours would not make the departure come
any faster. Rolling his eyes my dad would answer This is the fifth time today you asked that
question, we are leaving tomorrow morning . Dancing down the hall I hurry to my room that I
share with Daniel. When I approached the door I could heard these terrible retching noises
coming from behind the door. I peek inside the door to see Daniel with his face in the waste
basket. My heart starts to sink, knowing that if Daniel is too sick to travel then we weren t going
to be able to leave for this trip. I go tell my parents and then trudgingly flop down on the couch
knowing I wasn t going to get very good sleep tonight.
I wake up messaging my neck trying to get the knot that had developed there overnight due to my
sleeping arrangements. Sleepy, I walk to the bathroom and start to wash my face and start my
morning routine. As I took my clothes off and I walking into the shower and turned on the hottest
the water would go, I liked when it was

Little Miss Sunshine Hoover Family
In the 2006 family film Little Miss Sunshine , directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the
conventional aspects of the family genre are challenged through the characterization and
representation of the Hoover family. This film is atypical of its genre as it explores dark themes
that are not commonly associated with the familygenre, such as drug use, suicide and body issues.
The film also critiques the concept of the ideal family in regards to gender roles, sexuality, and the
relationships between characters. Little Miss Sunshine s portrayal of these concepts fractures and
bends ideological expectations.
At the beginning of the film, we are introduced individually to each member of the Hoover family
and it becomes obvious that the

How Did Muhammad Influence The Spread Of Islam
Islam
570 The prophet Muhammad is born. Muhammad had many tragedies during his childhood.
Before Muhammad s birth, his father died and when he was six years old his mother died. He was
mainly raised by his grandfather and uncle who taught him to be a good business man and a trader.
Muhammad became a very successful merchant and married a woman by the name of Khadijah.
610 Muhammad is believed to have been visited by the angel Gabriel. It is believed that
Muhammad had gone up to a cave in a mountain to meditate and he was visited by an angel and
was told about Allah. Some messages he was told were that Allah is the only god, everyone should
share their goods and that life should be lived in complete submission to Allah. Believing that ...

By the start of the 1000 s Christians were being persecuted by Islamic leaders and this increased
when the owner of the holy land switched from the Egyptians to the Seljuk Turks. Late in the 11th
century the Byzantine Emperor by the name of Alexius Comenus asked for help from Western
Europe. In 1095, since Christians were being persecuted Pope Urban II publicly called for a
crusade to help the Eastern Christians recover the holy land. The first crusade was the only the only
crusade that the Christians beat the Muslims.

614 The Persian conquest in Jerusalem occurs. Persia was a great place for Jews because Cyrus
the Great restored them into Jerusalem in 538. Authorities demanded Monophysites conform to
imperial religious policy and that all Jews become Christians. There were many Jewish riots that
followed and in 614 an army full of Persians and Jews arrived in Jerusalem. It took them 21 days to
get past the wall and after that was a massacre as 60,000 Christians were killed.
627 The Battle of Nineveh occurs. This battle was part of the Byzantine Sassanid war which
lasted from 602 628. At first the Persians had success as they captured Egypt, Syria and the
Levant but that momentum did not last. In the year 610 a new emperor arose for the Byzantine
empire and his name was Heraclius and he created a treaty with the Persians. In 627 he wanted to
end the 25 year war and he and his forces defeated the Persians at the Battle of

Kotkin There s No Place Like Home Summary
In the essay There s No Place Like Home, Joel Kotkin describes the new increasingly popular
trend of localism . Localism is the idea that adults and children become accustomed to where they
are living and are more prompted to stay there. The basis of his premise states the longer people
stay in their homes and communities, the more they identify with those places (490). The comfort
and familiarity people feel in their community leads local businesses and institutions to survive and
prosper. The cause of new localism is primarily based on age, suburbanization, the Internet, and an
increased centralization of family life. According to Kotkin, family and technology are two key
factors working against nomadism (491). With ongoing economic... Show more content on

The majority of Americans still live in small suburban towns instead of metropolitan areas. While
a person can be subject to a specific community, they may not feel a part of a bigger society. On a
local level, people may feel pride in their community, but are less connected to people around them.
This connects back with Lovenhiem s observation that many of his neighbors do not closely
associate with one another. He observed that his neighbors do not willing interact with each other,
even though they all tied to a specific locality. While Lovenhiem found that it is possible to reunite
these neighborhood ties, it is up to the individual to make the decision of whether or not they wish
to be involved in a community

If the eczema is a chronic problem, the skin will continue to itch and become thick like leather. Usually dry scales develop, and the skin s color may change. Eczema is very common and affects one in twelve people. Eczema usually first appears in early childhood and tends to disappear when the child grows up. However, it can resurface at a later stage, and can also affect an adult who hasn t previously suffered. There are kinds types of eczema. • 4. Native American Style Beadwork By Elizabeth Sorensen Elizabeth Sorensen (Be verbs: is, was, were, be, been, being) Mrs. Mohr Luke English 12/12/16 Senior Project Research Essay Native American Style Beadwork The horses jump around screaming, the bulls snorting, and time for the rodeo to start. Before the bareback rider gets on his horse I notice his belt, fabricated with beautiful authentic leather and his last name on the back made of beads, this belt caught my eye because the beads were bright, and vibrant. I have been looking for this perfect beaded belt for two years. Nevertheless, I did not want to spend the three hundred dollars to have someone else make one for me, so I decided I would wait until my senior year to make this my senior project, and here I stand today. There is many things a person needs to know about Native American bead working; the history of Native American beading, comparing and contrasting traditional bead colors with modern bead colors, thread types, tools needed to do modern bead working, and what bead workers can make using modern beading. Native American beading has been accomplished for an unknown amount of time; but, beadwork is one of the most notorious art forms practiced by the Native American people. Native American people fashioned their own beads pending the appearance of Europeans. Since none of the Native Americans has metal tools, producing beads was a long, tedious, procedure. The tools the Native Americans did use, were made of stone or wood and adhesives such as sand. (Kansas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Blood Rushing Effect On Readers, And Dracula By Bram... Only few stories and novels have the blood rushing effect on readers, and Dracula by Bram Stoker is one of those novels. This novel utilizes the method of using letters and other documents in order to tell the story. The application of the epistolary technique in the story Dracula proves to be quite effective because it does enable the reader to foresee the happenings in the story on a closer and more personal scale. In this novel, the man who writes the letters in Transylvania experiences a vast amount of supernatural experiences. Within the first four chapters of Dracula, Jonathan Harker witnesses supernatural occurrence s such as seeing flickering blue lights, how Jonathan Harker s coachman magically made the were wolves disappear, and how he cannot see the Count Dracula s reflection in the mirror. In the novel Dracula, Jonathan Harker tries to overlook these supernatural occurrences because of Mr. Hawkins interest. However, this reason may not be the most realistic justification in why Jonathan is persistent in his stay, but rather he is also aware that he is a prisoner. The novel Dracula also has many other supernatural aspects such as the three women in Count Dracula s house, and how Count Dracula proceeds down the walls in a lizard like manner. In the novel Dracula, it could be argued that Jonathan Harker is not a reliable narrator because of the fact that he is the only one in the book experiencing these occurrences and his mental state is questionable at times. • 6. The Importance Of Inclusion In Special Education The term inclusion is defined as being included within a group or structure. In education, this refers to the inclusion of special needs students with non disabled students for the entire, or most of, the school day. In most schools today, students with special needs are separated from the other students for the majority of the day. The debate of how special needs students should be incorporated in schools has been going on for years. There is an argument to both sides of this debate, however, both have to consider segregation, inclusion, integration and ultimately respect. For many years school systems have been attempting to perfect special education. They have been developing new techniques and skills to better suit different disabilities that a student might have. The question at hand now is if the segregation of students with disabilities from those without disabilities should be the standard for all schools. Mary and Kenneth Smith, authors of I Believe in Inclusion but..., conducted a study to describe teacher s perceptions of factors that contributed or hindered success in inclusion based classrooms. The study suggests that students with special needs need more attention than other students. Research has indicated that classroom teachers may be very skeptical of inclusion and that they strongly expect that the practice will present inherent problems. (Smith, Mary K., and Kenneth E. Due to this rapid growth, the company never established a robust hedging strategy to protect itself against fluctuations of the multiple currencies it engages with. The calculation is shown in the excel spreadsheet. e. I estimated the Yen/Dollar exchange rate to be 90. It is a bit higher than the current spot rate, but follows the trend according to exhibit 1. Exhibit 1 shows an appreciation to the Yen, which slows down to a crawl near the beginning of 1995. Based on the case I believe it is safe to assume a minor depreciation to the Yen for Sep 1995. There s scenes that really make you think and ponder what Shakespeare could have meant. One of the most controversial part of the play is who exactly held the most power in the play. The answer to that is the three witches. They held this so called power through magic and words, which held a very potent influence on Macbeth and other people. This mystery follows the escapades of Sam Spade as he hunts for the missing Maltese Falcon, and the killer of his partner. Spade is described as a Blond Satan (1). This is not a rather flattering way of describing your protagonist, and Hammett knew this. He knew that when solving crimes, one must place himself into the mind of the criminals to truly understand their reasoning. To do this for a living will take its toll, as Hammett knows all too well from his life as a private detective in L.A. His private eye is gruff, cynical, and drinks far too much alcohol. Spade is known for being far too honest at times saying, people lose teeth talking like that (94) when trying to gain information. These are the coping mechanisms that Hammett gives Spade to show his readers the human aspects of him. Spade might not be the most enjoyable company but if you give him a case to solve he will give his all to solving it. This sounds like another brilliant detective from the past. Sir Doyle would understand why Sam Spade is an effective detective just by looking at his habits. Sherlock Holmes and Sam Spade are akin to one another in the fact that they are both fallible humans with a knack for solving mysteries. Hammett is brilliant in the way he uses the influence of perhaps the first hardboiled detective to add a human side to the private eye. This type of writing is far above the caliber expected of a pulp fiction author, and to this day literary scholars site The Maltese Falcon was vastly ahead of any other work in its weight class. (Smith, 178) Dashiell Hammett proved the worth of an entire subgenre, and helped the hardboiled detective become a part of American literature. To this day, when people think of the private eye they jump straight to the clichГ© of a tough man of few words drinking bourbon and hunting down the bad guys in a dark city street. This is ... • 11. How Does The Concentration Of Hydrochloric Acid Increase... Introduction: The collision theory states that reactions are produced by the collision of particles. Frequent collisions produce a faster reaction time and release greater energy. This energy is converted into heat and therefore the temperature can be measured. There are many factors that can increase the reactivity of an element when mixed with hydrochloric acid. These include pressure, temperature, surface area and concentration. The atmospheric pressure of a room affects the reaction rate as it forces the particles closer together therefore inducing more collisions. The more energy released from the particles raises the temperature. The higher the concentration of the solutions the more particles there are therefore making it more likely to collide. The surface area can have an influence on the rate of reaction as the element had more exposed surfaces, allowing the reactant to collide with the element. It was known that a reaction had occurred as there was the formation of new substances from the existing elements such as hydrogen. This was an exothermic reaction as it produced heat which was another factor contributing to the increased reaction rate. Variable identification: The independent variable in this ... • 13. Why Do Hamlet Kill The King The reason for Hamlets delay for killing the king has perplexed critics for centuries. Over the centuries, each critic has developed their own reason towards the delay. Two reoccurring reasons for Hamlets delay are as follows: Hamlet does not know the identity of the ghost and there is no opportunity for his for his revenge. In the middle ages, people did not question the existence of ghosts, rather than where they have come from (heaven or hell). As John Wilson explains, that apparitions occurred was, indeed, not to be doubted by reasonable persons (Ghost or Devil). This is where Hamlets uncertainty comes from. Evidence of Hamlets uncertainty is shown after the ghost prompts him to murder the king. Hamlet contemplates that, The spirit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A.C Bradley believes that Hamlet is neither indecisive, or afraid, but believes that, Hamlet [is] not far from insanity (Shakespearean Tragedy). A.C Bradley believes that the shock that Hamlet has received by his fathers death and his mothers remarriage has made Hamlet insane, thus affecting his ability to act. It would not be incorrect to think this for there are many times throughout the play where Hamlet is seen showing signs of near insanity. A common theory to prove this is Hamlets visions of the ghost. Readers believe that the reason as to why only Hamlet can see the ghost is that the ghost is only a figment of Hamlets imagination. This would evidently mean that Hamlet has reached the point of insanity. These are some of the additional beliefs of critiques as to why Hamlet delays his revenge on ... The MBA Fairytale Does the MBA address the executive skills gap and operational needs of American business promptly and cost effectively? Even though MBAs from the top schools earn more than business graduates with undergraduate degrees, mid career managers are better off learning applied strategic skills than earning an MBA. The generic classes in most programs, unrelated to current economic conditions, do not close the executive skills gap or meet the operational needs of American business. Unless it s from a top tier program, the lifetime value of the MBA is highly inflated. Mid career managers are better off learning applied strategic skills than earning an MBA. They are an endangered species! The end has come, not because Capitalism is doomed, but because of two related phenomena: technology and the millennial generation. Technology has altered our work habits, relationships, and roles within organizations. The classic role of the manager was to monitor performance, offer feedback, and generate reports. Technology now performs these tasks, leaving people with general management skills vulnerable. The development of Agile services, associated with self managed teams and Gen Y, has further left middle managers isolated. Rapid turnover is commonplace since the recession. In fact, Stew Magnuson an author and journalist explains the drastically long period of time that it will take for a hardship like this The Trump Wall will never be completed as envisioned before the new president leaves office even if he were to win a second term. In fact, it s a safe bet to say a nearly 2,000 mile long wall on the U.S. border with Mexico is a pipe dream as the workers to put on this wall to make it happen in less than 8 years it would cost even more to the budget of 1.2 billion dollars to buy materials for this enormous wall (Magnuson). As President Trump claims it will take at least a year to accomplish this wall, it is believed that it will take longer than possible a decade of work (Moller). With the preparation, the workers, and the funding to make this project set into play, will still take over a decades of work; in fact, it took the Chinese 2,000 years to build the great wall (Griffiths). Gabrielle The Apparatus of Violence in the Jim Crow Machine Gabrielle Hatch The Apparatus of Violence in the Jim Crow Machine The rise of Jim Crow, a system of sustainable racial inequality, had a significant scope on racial relations for subsequent years to come. Jim Crow laws and its prescribed etiquette operated and represented the legitimization of anti blackness primarily but not exclusively in southern states of the United States. Scholarship has justifiably surveyed these codes of conduct with stressing African American disenfranchisement. As societies modernized, the culture of execution being a public communal event dissipated (Pfeifer). It wasn t until racial slavery positioned Black people on the outskirts of normal law and legitimized extra legal violence, that a re emergence of collective and communal violence occurred. The conditions of slavery allowed the United States, particularly the southern colonies, to revisit collective violence. Furthermore, it made necessary an imposed draconian regime of punishment. Colonies adopted a separate penal code and fixed slavery as permanent (Berg). In the criminal justice arena, the slave codes could not be restricted by traditional English law. It was a loophole to creating a private violence that Whites could inflict on Blacks. Colonial slavery contributed to the later rise of lynching. For one, the nature of slavery positioned African Americans as objects of hyper violence that was recognized under law. Furthermore, it designated the responsibility of subordinating slaves as a collective effort from the community. It rendered Whites as the overseers or the community hegemon above slaves. Lastly, once slavery was abolished, Whites could not be permitted to use violence against Blacks. This resulted in Whites swearing to uphold the duty of maintaining White superiority by all means necessary. The era of Civil War and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The only problem with that is that Measure for Measure displays no real justice, only talks about it. The various characters of the play solicit for a symbolistic balance, yet live their lives in uneven measures. Justice seems to be an important theme of Measure for Measure yet its apparent absence found me wanting by the end of the play. Measure for Measure attempts to examine the difference between justice with and without mercy and the harmonious balance of both. This topic is of great importance during the time this play was written because the means of punishment frequently ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Emotional Intelligence And Professional Success Emotional Intelligence in Nursing Introduction Emotional Intelligence 2.0 brings about the idea that the more someone is aware of their own emotions and other peoples emotions they will have a significant increase in personal and professional success by applying strategies from the four core emotional intelligence skills: self awareness, self management, social awareness, and relationship management. The idea of emotional intelligence was first proposed in 1964 and since then other physiologists have added their insights and broken it down into four to five different categories. Emotional intelligence (EQ) was recently defined as one s ability to recognize own emotions and other people s emotions and applying this understanding to manage your behavior and relationships (Bradberry Greaves, 2009). With application to the nursing world, having high EQ knowledge will improve roles and functions of nursing, teach fellow coworkers techniques to lead, and help individuals grow in identifying emotions and further understanding one s self. History of EQ Micheal Beldoch first introduced the idea of EQ in 1964, in Sensitivity to Expression of Emotional Meaning in Three Modes of Communication, a paper that examined three modes of communication: vocal, musical and graphic, to identify non verbal emotional expressions (Beldoch, 1964). Firstly, the dialogue is part of a series of implicit and explicit references in the History to the radically different ways of living and governance that are exhibited by different societies. Throughout their conversation, Xerxes and Demaratus juxtaposing assertions fuel Herodotus ongoing discussion of what sets the Greeks and the Persians apart. This contrast, in turn, reveals the disparity between those governed by the rule of law and those governed by an autocratic emperor. In the History the Persian monarchy, as the prime example of unity under a centralized authority figure, is consistently portrayed as resting on principles of fear, subservient conformity, and blind loyalty. An example of this can be seen when Herodotus notes: All the rest of the Persians held their tongues and did not venture to declare a judgment opposite to that which was in discussion (7.10). • 42. The Importance of the Act of Reading” by Paulo Freire essay 4 Bredahl Harlie Cheyenne Bredahl Professor Peter Epps Composition II 08 September 2014 I The Importance of the Act of Reading by Paulo Freire, describes the importance of the act of reading beyond numerous experiences in his life as a child, a teenager, and an adult. Freire begins his article by taking readers back to where he was born, in his home city Recife, Brazil. He uses very itemized imagery to describe the trees, the house and the atmosphere of where he grew up and how the text, words, and letters were incarnated in the series of things, objects, and signs. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schools often require reading materials containing unfamiliar subjects to students. Recognizing that there is significance for critical understanding of the text itself as well as the act of reading, this explains why many students today struggle with reading material that is not relevant to their lifestyle. Freire portrays that by the statement, reading the world precedes reading the word, and reading the word implies continually reading the world (Freire 286). A person should read their world, and then interpret it. They can then use their existential experience of the world to connect to what they are reading in print, and better understand it. Reading a text as pure description of an object, and undertaken to mechanically memorize the discrimination, it is neither real reading nor does it result in the knowledge of the object to which the text refers (Freire 284). When a teacher gives a reading assignment, the students that read to memorize the text likely do not gain the significance of what that literary work contextually attempted to deliver, nor is it necessarily understood by the reader. If a student was really taught the significance and meaning of the text instead of mechanically memorizing it, the student should have better outcomes both with gaining the insight of the assignment and the memorization of key points. • 43. Epistemology And Belief Of Epistemology Essay In this paper I will be writing about knowledge and belief referring to epistemology. I will be answering questions such as, What is knowledge and What is belief . I will also answer other questions related to the epistemology of knowledge and beliefs. Before we get into knowledge and beliefs, we must define what epistemologyis and why epistemology is important. What is epistemology? The word itself derives from two Greek words: Episteme meaning knowledge and understanding and Logia meaning science of study. In philosophy, epistemology is the study of knowledge, in general. Examples of epistemological questions would be; what does knowledge mean, how does a person get to know something, and what is the basis for true knowledge. Epistemology has to do with how people s minds are connected to reality, whether invalid or valid. What is the importance of epistemology? Epistemology explains our way of thinking. Through the correct use of evaluation, epistemology is necessary to be able to separate what is true and what is false. We couldn t think if not for epistemology. In other words, we wouldn t have a reason to trust our thinking was valid. We would anything we see or hear to be true. An inaccurate epistemology would lead us to not know how to separate truthand mistaken truth. Obviously, there are consequences to inaccurate epistemology. The level that our epistemology is accurate is the level in which we grasp to concept of reality, and the level in which we use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Descriptive Essay About Snowboarding Ever since I can just about remember I have been Snowboarding. Well first I started off skiing, but I wanted more of a challenge. What got me started was my older brother Daniel when he tried it for the first time, he didn t stick with it because he hit his head to many times (I think he is just a pansy). Him and his friends use to call me hobo Joe, which I kind of liked cause it rhymes with my name Joe and It gave me attention. We would always go to this little ski resort about 20 minutes away from our house and it was a blast, I loved it. I didn t have any friends to go with at the time so I just tagged alot with my older brother which was fine enough. I was 12 years old when we first started planning our trip to go to a resort in Colorado, I remember sitting up at night talking with my older brother, counting down the days till we finally got to leave for our skiing adventure. And to top it all off some of daniel s friends were coming along with our cousin Jodi and oldest brother nick. Even though Daniel and his friends tease me at times I still find it a lot of fun to hang out with them. Dad how much longer till we finally get to leave? I would ask my dad with urgency, not understanding at the time that asking ever couple of hours would not make the departure come any faster. Rolling his eyes my dad would answer This is the fifth time today you asked that question, we are leaving tomorrow morning . Dancing down the hall I hurry to my room that I share with Daniel. When I approached the door I could heard these terrible retching noises coming from behind the door. I peek inside the door to see Daniel with his face in the waste basket. My heart starts to sink, knowing that if Daniel is too sick to travel then we weren t going to be able to leave for this trip. I go tell my parents and then trudgingly flop down on the couch knowing I wasn t going to get very good sleep tonight. I wake up messaging my neck trying to get the knot that had developed there overnight due to my sleeping arrangements. Sleepy, I walk to the bathroom and start to wash my face and start my morning routine. As I took my clothes off and I walking into the shower and turned on the hottest the water would go, I liked when it was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This film is atypical of its genre as it explores dark themes that are not commonly associated with the familygenre, such as drug use, suicide and body issues. The film also critiques the concept of the ideal family in regards to gender roles, sexuality, and the relationships between characters. • 49. Kotkin There s No Place Like Home Summary In the essay There s No Place Like Home, Joel Kotkin describes the new increasingly popular trend of localism . Localism is the idea that adults and children become accustomed to where they are living and are more prompted to stay there. The basis of his premise states the longer people stay in their homes and communities, the more they identify with those places (490). The comfort and familiarity people feel in their community leads local businesses and institutions to survive and prosper. The cause of new localism is primarily based on age, suburbanization, the Internet, and an increased centralization of family life. According to Kotkin, family and technology are two key factors working against nomadism (491). With ongoing economic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On a local level, people may feel pride in their community, but are less connected to people around them. This connects back with Lovenhiem s observation that many of his neighbors do not closely associate with one another. He observed that his neighbors do not willing interact with each other, even though they all tied to a specific locality. While Lovenhiem found that it is possible to reunite these neighborhood ties, it is up to the individual to make the decision of whether or not they wish to be involved in a community ...
