Case Study – Cunard Line, Ltd.
Case Study Cunard Line, Ltd.
Problem
Cunard is facing a problem as to whether their marketing efforts should go towards tactical
promotions or if they should be applied to marketing the overall brand while facing the effects of a
recession.
Analysis
Overview
Cunard Line Ltd. is a cruise line that represents luxury and class providing four to five star cruise
ship options. Their overall target market is mature adults with mid to very high income levels. A lot
of the marketing efforts put forth by Cunard were going towards tactical efforts and the promotion
of individual ships as opposed to the promotion of the entire brand. Although most of the ads
portrayed the same look and had an individually tailored paragraph and/or photo. Set ... Show more

This method can be used for customers of the four or five star ships. This loyalty program would
provide occasional direct offers to customers who already have experience with Cunard and
therefore will not view the deals as a lowering of standards. An example of a deal that can be
provided is a selling package that is good for a year or two. This package would outline a
discounted price for a set amount of people to travel on a certain cruise ship. That way, there is
enough time for a customer to realistically plan out a trip while providing an incentive for them
and encourage more action as opposed to a regular priced ad.
Lastly, an alternative that can be taken is to build relationships with various large companies with
employees who make an income in the target range and make offers to company executives. This
method would not downplay the company image because Cunard would be communicating directly
with high income executives and furthermore will not be making any public sales or
advertisements. This method would create new potential customers who are directly in the target
market of choice using the method of relationship building. This may also result in additional
customer retention. This method can be used for both the four and five star ships. In order to
attract the target market of the five star ships, Cunard can make an arrangement with a company to
offer a deal with their luxury ships as part of a retirement plan.

Analysis Of Through A Window By Jane Goodall
Connections within Jane Goodall s Through a Window
Throughout the term, reading the book, Through a Window by Jane Goodall has been quite
intriguing for me, in that it has inspired me with new ideas and perceptions about how our own
species has evolved over time. I have really enjoyed seeing the many similarities that hominids share
with other primate species, especially chimpanzees. Goodall s research only further proves that we
are not only extremely biologically similar to chimpanzees in our DNA, but have many behavioral
similarities as well. The film, Monkey in the Mirror also shows support for our likeness in
intellectuality. These documented findings on chimpanzeeand human resemblances provides the
strong evidence needed to conclude the fact that humans do indeed share a common ancestor with
great apes.
I found Goodall s chapter Mothers and Daughters very fascinating, and caught my interest the most
because I immediately found myself making connections within my own life and experiences.
Goodall compared the parenting styles of the two mothers, Flo, and Passion. These two chimps
have completely opposite ways of raising their young, with Flo being very loving, nurturing, and
caring of her daughter Fifi, while Passion was a very cold, harsh, and intolerant mother to her
daughter, Pom. You can easily see the dramatic difference in how their childhood shaped the two
chimpanzees in their adulthood, just how we commonly see this in humans as well. Fifi had a

Essay On Casino Royale
When I first began reading this book, I assumed that it would be like the 2 previous books in the
series: fast paced with good action and good characters, but more a fun read than anything else.
It was going to be enjoyable in an Ocean s Eleven or Casino Royale way like its predecessors.
And so going into this, my initial reaction was surprise. In the first chapter I was already delving
into the past of Kat and Hale s powerful bond and the history of their relationship, something I
thought would never be explained. Already, the book was surprising me with its depth of character
development and hidden deeper meanings. Throughout the book the theme of the characters taking
on much bigger and influential roles continued. I learned to lovethe characters not just as
characters but real people; I learned to look at Kat s world not just as all bright, cheerful hues,
but this book revealed the shadowy, dark shades of Kat s world as well: corruption, hurt, and lots
of angst. But, powering through it all and saving the day was the infinite loyalty and love of her
family.
While reading the book, I don t think my reactions and responses varied greatly. However, they
differed greatly from my reactions and responses while reading the previous books, when I was
caught up more in the adventure and plot of the book. While those aspects of this book were
equally enthralling as the other books, I reacted and responded more to the characters in this book.

Scarcity Of Water Essay
Leonardo da Vinci said, Water is the driving force of all nature. Most people will acknowledge
this statement because water is necessary for both life and good health. Water is an essential
ingredient of life not only for humans but also for the animals with which we share the world
and the environment that sustains our presence. This is the most pressing global issue because
when water is no longer safe to use, or is polluted, this causes problems in many other areas, such
as with general health and hygiene, child mortality, and the environmental stability for the
farming and ranching industries. According to the United Nations, forty percent of the world s
population is a victim of water scarcity, and the number is rising, which is why more recently
this issue has become prominent with the media internationally. In the end, water is how our
world survives, and when its purity is in jeopardy, so is the stability of our world. While it is
easier for someone who lives in America to see the localized water related problems in this
country, such as the droughts in California and the Flint, Michigan water quality crisis, clean
water is a worldwide issue and a preventable one. Many impoverished people must live with
unclean water due to neglect of this problem by their governing political bodies. The United
Nations reports 1,000 children dying every day from diseases caused by unclean water and
sanitation issues that are avoidable with reasonable improvements. When the

Behavioral Addictions And Substance Abuse Addictions
In 2013, the release of the updated Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth
Edition (DSM 5) added gambling disorder to the category titled Substance Related and
Addictive Disorders. (The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 2013) In the
previous edition of the DSM, gambling, along with other behavioral addictions were in the
Impulse Control Disorders category of the DSM III and DSM IV (Clark, 2014). Behavioral
Addictions are said to be around for hundreds of years. For example, gambling was part of daily
life in ancient Greece. (Hekster, 2002). In the first edition of American Psychiatric Association in
1812, there was detailed mention of excessive sexual desire (Rush, 1812). Yet, behavioral... Show

The American Psychiatric Association defines addictionas: the failure to resist an impulse, drive, or
temptation to perform an act that is harmful to the person or to others (American Psychiatric
Association. Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. 4. Washington, DC: American

Addiction is defined by Aviel Goodman as; Addiction is a condition in which a behavior that can
function both to produce pleasure and to reduce painful affects is employed in a pattern that is
characterized by two key features: (1) recurrent failure to control the behavior, and (2) continuation
of the behavior despite significant harmful consequences. (Neurobiology of addiction: An
integrative review 2007 pg. 270)
Marc Potenza, who did a phenomenal amount of research on behavioral addictions, believes that
components of addictions are found to have the following affects: continued involvement in the
behavior despite adverse consequences. No or limited self control over the behavior which leads to
compulsive involvement to this behavior. And lastly, an appetite or urge to continue practicing the
substance of choice. (Potenza 2006, pg 120, the neurobiology of addiction).

Wound characteristics Location of the wound A wound assessment was performed on perineal
area of the patient. It was considered as a chronic wound due to delayed in the healing. Level of
Exudate An extensive amount of seropurulent discharge was present when a dressing was
removed. Peri wound skin The skin around the wound was slightly moist. A slight maceration on
the edge of the wound was also noted with a lightly sloping border. Erythema was also present
around the wound. According to Carville (2012, p 31) erythema occurs with vasolidation of
capillaries in the skin as a result of blushing, temperature changes, thermal injury, an inflammatory
response to healing or the presence of infection . Depth/Wound measurements The wound was
measured, where the length was approximately 8 cm with a width that varies from proximal to
distal, 0.5 cm and 0.45 cm, respectively. Moreover, a depth of the incision was between 4 and 5 cm
from the time it was measured without undermining. Wound odour Skin was not well approximated

The wound was initially cleansed with water or normal saline. The principle of aseptic
technique was applied. The soaked gauges was used to clean the surrounding skin. Moreover,
when cleaning the depth of the wound, a circular motion was observed, to allow the removal of
suspected biofilms. According to Carville (2012, p 78), a gentle cleansing technique is used to
remove excessive exudates, whilst a more vigorous approach may be required to remove foreign
bodies or suspected biofilms which retard healing . The wound was lightly dressed with large

The Feminist Critique Of The Dominant Social Scientific...
3) What are the contributions of Smith and Collins to the feminist critique of the dominant social
scientific approaches?
Sociology, its thoughts it methods, conceptual schemes and theories have been based on and built
up within the male social universe, even when women have participated in its doing. There is thus
a disjunction between how women experience the world and the concepts and theoretical schemes
by which society s self consciousness is inscribed. The worlds of men have had and still have an

Trouble In The Truss Construction Shop Essay
Introduction Employers spend thousands of dollars to ensure workplace safety. However when
an accident occurs, and company s production and sales are at stake, many overlook operational
best practices in business ethics. Today, companies are greatly impacted by society s evolvultion
toward a good place for everyone which is diverse in culture, religion, and socioeconomic
background. This trajectory drives social changes, activists, and theorists who believe attaining
the good is worth pursuing and has no boundaries. As Aristotle noted, the end goals of political
and individual well being are justice and happiness (Collins, 2015). In examining the Trouble in
the Truss Construction Shop case study, a utilitarian approach was used to ethically formulate
possible remedies to the Truss Construction Shop issue with employee safety. Explanation of the
Issue or Problem One week ago, John Craftsman, a company employee severely injured his hand
while pushing a piece of wood through a table saw during his shift at the Truss Construction Shop.
Mr. Craftsman s accident is the third accident to occur in the current quarter that has workers in the
shop upset and claiming unsafe working conditions. The workers have reported to OSHA and the
local newspaper that the company has failed to accept responsibility for employee safety. The

A Route Through A Maze
Solution 1,
The solution for Problem Set 1, required a route through a maze. Elkner et al. (2010) suggested that,
A program is a sequence of instructions that specifies how to perform a computation. Given this
information, it was concluded that rules and disciplines were required in order for the knight to
understand and process any instructions given to it. Having prior knowledge that the knight would
foremost, need a full understanding of movement as a program platform, it was evaluated, that
rotational 360o axis was attached as a second layer to the maze, this accommodated to calculate
how many degrees the knight would need to turn as it progressed through the maze; leaving an
understanding of full movement understanding (see Appendix C).
A solution to this was to complete and record all of the movements in a Microsoft Excel chart.
The chart would record how many movements the knight would have to take, how many steps
were required, whether to turn left 90o or turn right 90o and movements up or down. The decision
was also made to declare that each square the knight had completed, would be recorded as 1 step
and whether the knight turned or moved multiple steps, each procedure would be recorded as 1
movement (see Appendix A).
Using this method, I created a cognitive solution or pathway to a complex maze. Its simplicity
produced a visual instruction on which directional momentum or pivot the knight would need to
move in order to reach the Princess in the centre of

Devil In The White City During The Gilded Age
The Gilded Age was known as a time that increased the growth of America s economy. Both, the
rich and poor accumulated wealth during this period, which started in the 1870 s and ended in the
early 1900 s. Eric Larson s book, Devil in the White City, portrayed that the United States began to
experience manifest destiny, a rise in economic power, and modernity due to individualism during
the Gilded Age.
Manifest destiny expressed a utopian vision of the United States (Heinkin, 323). In the book,
Daniel Burnham s creation of the World s Fair represents manifest destiny. This fair attracted
people from all over the world. Railroads became expanded leading more people to Burnham s
fair. The more people that came into America, the more need for expansion was supported.

An Analysis of Benjamin Franklin s Autobiography
Introduction Benjamin Franklin is revered by Americans as one of its most revered and adored
founding fathers. For foreigners, Benjamin Franklin became the very icon of America, not only
because he was accomplished, but because he was a new man, a man that could only have been
made in America. Franklin came to be seen as the embodiment of American values. The image and
the values promoted in Franklin s autobiography would later come to be regarded as essential
American virtues: determination, industriousness, and self sufficiency. It was purportedly these
virtues which led to his great practical accomplishments in publishing, politics, and science. In a
sense, Franklin s autobiography was the first exposition of the now famous American Dream.
Thesis: In his autobiography, Franklin is undoubtedly concerned with developing virtue and self
improvement, but relies on others as the primary frame of reference for his own progress, always
measuring himself with others. This habit of comparison results in the development of vices as
well as virtues. Background Aims At the start of the First Chapter, Franklin claims to write only so
that his own life may be an example for his son of how one can live well and how one can get
through hardships. He meant to show ...the conducing means...which...so well succeeded, my
posterity...may find some of them suitable to their own situations. Franklin, B. (1909). The

Analysis Of The Book Alice s Adventures Essay
Alice s Adventures
AnnaMarie Bethune
Northeast Alabama Community College
Enraged from the recent conversation with her aunt and uncle, Alice storms out the door. Headed
to her usual spot beneath the old Willow near the edge of the forest, she runs full speed down the
hill, hopefully relieving some of her anger. As she stops at the edge of the forest, book in hand,
now sitting, she can t help but notice her veins flooding with adrenaline. She s so mad she can t sit
still.
Alice jumps up and begins walking through the woods, at a rather fast pace, she suddenly stops at
the sound of an odd noise. Frozen, she slowly turns to see that there s a rather small cat staring up at
her. As she bends down to pet it, she sees another one, and another, until there are more than
thirty cats surrounding her. Unnerved, Alice sets off at a sprint, hurdling over the rotten log
fallen across her path. Finally, she s outrun them. Alice stops as she comes to a clearing almost
tripping over something. Searching for what she has stumbled into, she sees a glimpse of royal
blue covered in thick layers of weeds and vines. Hastily pulling the vines from their tangled
chaos, Alice finally reveals an old pot . Appeared to be worn and rusting, blue paint chipping, the
once gold flowers now brown, Alice notices a large ceramic plate fitted to the top of the pot.
Afraid but curious, she slowly lifts the side. Not moved for so long, the plate was stuck to the top
of the pot. Not only

Materials Engineering Of Photovoltaic Cells
Materials Engineering in Photovoltaic cells
In today s world when we think about energy sources, there are 2 classifications they can be split
into: renewable and non renewable sources of energy. Fossil fuels are the backbone for most of
the energy we use today. We need this fuel for almost all of our daily routine, from lighting a fire
to running heavy machinery, but with increase in population there has been an increasing
demand of such energy. Fuels like these tend to give massive amount of energy but also affect
the environment by producing harmful gases and residue. With the depletion of the fossil fuels
such as coal and petroleum we needed to switch to alternate form of energy which and there has
been an ever greater need for a cleaner and renewable form of energy. Humans have tried to find
many alternative (and renewable) forms of energy such as wind and water but not at a very large
scale. With an abundance of solar energy available to harvest, it is one of the most widely
cultivated renewable forms of energy.
Solar cells or photovoltaic are the primary devices that are able to harvest the sun s energy in a
form that can be used every day. Semiconductors are one of the more widely used materials in the
solar cells industry; however other materials such as organic photovoltaic, solution processed
solar cells and dye sensitized solar cells are also used in the market. To understand the basic
principle behind the working of a solar cell, we have to look down into the

The Structural Domains And Mechanism Of Action Of Ribozymes
1)Describe the structural domains and mechanism of action of ribozymes. How can ribozymes be
useful as therapeutic agents? (10 points)
RNA molecules that act as enzymes are called ribozymes. They are capable of catalyzing the
cleavage of their own RNA or other RNA substrates (Missailidis, 2008). Ribozymes are involved in
viroid replication, RNA splicing and protein synthesis. (Clark Russel, 2005) The structure of
ribozymes consist of a catalytic domain and a substrate binding domain. (Ebrahimian, 2015)
The substrate binding domain has a specific sequence antisense to the target mRNA. This
sequence recognizes and hybridizes specifically to its substrate. (Missailidis, 2008). Alteration of
the substrate binding domain can be done so that the substrate specifically cleaves any mRNA
sequence. The RNA catalytic domain cleaves the substrate at a target site recognized by the
ribozyme (Glick Pasternak, 2003). The resultant products are then degraded by ribonucleases and
the ribozyme dissociates itself from the RNA products and binds to another mRNA to be cleaved.
(Missailidis, 2008)
Therapeutic ribozymes can be designed to target almost any RNA sequence and decrease the
amount of a particular protein that is synthesized (Glick Pasternak, 2003). This can be done by
incorporating the catalytic domain of ribozyme into short oligonucleotides antisense to the target
mRNA (Missailidis, 2008). Ribozymes can be used to identify specific sites and introduced into the
system to

The Impact Of Fast Fashion On Business Environment
Introduction
The continually increasing globalization in the world has linked many countries together and the
borders have become inconspicuous. Many firms cooperate in a global market, which leads to an
increased amount of transnational corporations acting in a global surrounding (Douglas Wind,
1987). In the fashion industry, the business environment is especially competitive and firms have
to adjust their business practices rapidly such as products and launching time of each collection on
the basis of the demand of current market (Lowson, King Hunter, 1999). Companies in the fashion
industry like ZARA, Topshop and H M have emerged a new trend fast fashion that combines two
main characteristics: short lead times and trendy design products (Passariello,2008 ; Rohwedder
Johnson, 2008). However, fast fashion leaves behind some issues, which are not beneficial to
environmental protection and human costs. In fast fashion industries, it requires companies to
complete missions in a short time, some fast fashion companies use unethical acts in order to
complete producing on time which may result in environmental issue and appears unfair labour
practices. In addition, Luz (2007) pointed out that globalization provided fast fashion industries a
chance to produce clothes at lower prices so that they can sell clothes with a cheaper price. This
result in many customers considers fast fashion clothes to be disposable. Therefore, this essay will
first explain what is fast

Early Childhood Development In The United States
The first part in the life cycle of a butterfly is the egg. The small egg is placed on a leaf by the

heritage can affect our culture. In the article What Is Cultural Heritage? it states, Today, we find
that heritage is not only manifested through tangible forms such as artefacts, buildings or
landscapes but also through intangible forms. We get more than antiques from our ancestors we get

Like caterpillars, as kids we absorb everything our parents tell us. The values, beliefs, and morals
our parents teach us molds and sculpts our culture. in the article The Impact of Culture on Early
Childhood Development in the United States by Damon Verial it states, The United States is a
blending of many cultures that feature many stable and different subcultures. Where a child
grows up and who her parents are will influence the cultural wisdom, or emphasis of certain
values and skills, that are passed to her. A lot of what my parents have taught me culturally is
through food. My father spent two years of his life in Switzer land and the South of France. My
father has introduced a lot of French culture into our home. On Christmas Eve, we eat shrimp
scampy rather than chicken or turkey, which is most common in the United States. On Sunday
morning when we were little, our dad would make us omelets. For dinner, we have learned to
like crepes, raklet, and fondue. My mom grew up in Idaho. Every meal has some form of potato
and a side of salad; almost without fail. My parents raised us in the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter day Saints. In our church, we have a set of guidelines called the Word of Wisdom, which
teaches us our bodies are sacred and we should watch what we put in them. For example, we do
not drink alcohol or addictive beverages. My parents and their cultures have had momentous
effects on my own culture. This however is not restricted just by foods. In positions on
contradicting beliefs, I often find my views to mirror the ones of my parents. As I grow older I do
not personally know to what extent my parents influence my culture and if my views will change

Nurturing Yields a Productive Citizen Essay
Does nurturing in an early childhood stage help to create a productive citizen? Yes, nurturing
children, building a loving and caring relationship in an early childhood stage allows young
children to obtain a positive self concept, reach social emotional development, understand others,
achieve physical growth0 and learn intellectually and morally (Love Our Children USA). First, a
positive self concept (the image one has of oneself and ones strengths) sets the basis as to how a
child will conduct his or herself in the future. Children with good self concepts are more likely to
grow into happy and productive members of society (Arkin et al.). Parents should encourage
positive self concepts in children. To help a child reach this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Children may think that they are incompetent or at fault if the teacher gives off a negative attitude.
So, for instance, a bad day should not be shown through the teacher s attitude. The attitude shown
on a bad day should mask the day they are having. This is to insure a nurturing environment for a
young child. Second, along with guidance, children need nurture to help social and emotional skills
develop. Many psychologists point out that there is a very strong relationship between parenting
styles and the social development of children (Kasschau 80). Children from nurturing homes will, in
fact, be stronger socially than children from homes without nurturing caregivers. One of the first
and most important steps in promoting social development is teaching children prosocial behaviors.
Prosocial behaviors are acts of kindness that benefit others such as sharing, helping others, and
showing concern. Many people argue that prosocial behaviors should be learned naturally; however
teaching a child prosocial behaviors is the most accurate way to ensure the quality of kindness in
young children. Emotional development is another important factor in a growing child. Humans
use different emotions to express their feelings to others everyday. In studying young children, one
will see that no two children are exactly alike. Although they may look alike, identical twins differ
in personality. This is why psychologists have emphasized the importance of the

Holes, by Louis Sachar, innocent Stanley Yelnats is sent to a juvenile delinquent camp as a
punishment for stealing shoes . The theme of Holes is perseverance because in the story, Stanley
escapes from the camp, takes a lot of risks, and rebels against Mr. Sir, the Warden, and Mr.
Pendanski.
In Holes, Stanley is sent to a camp for bad boys for stealing a pair of shoes from Clyde
Livingston, a famous baseball player, when they actually fell out of the sky on top of him. Now
he has to dig giant holes everyday and he hates it because it is hard and he is actually innocent.
At one point in the story, Stanley gets really angry and runs away from camp. He escapes
because he doesn t like it there, people are mean to him, and he is going to look for his friend
Zero who ran away before him. As far as he could tell, nobody was chasing him... He d have to
return to camp. He knew that. But he was in no hurry. (Sachar, 149) This quote shows that Stanley
runs away from the awful camp. He hates the camp so much that he does NOT want to go back.
He wants to get far away from there and find his friend Zero. ... Show more content on

He also gets in trouble for risks that some of the other boys take. One of the biggest risks that
Stanley takes is stealing Mr. Sir s truck and driving it across the barren lake right into a hole.
Think about this, he told himself, but there wasn t time to think. He flung open the door to the
truck and climbed quickly inside. (Sachar, 147) This quote really shows how Stanley is a risk
taker. It tells how he thinks of doing things he shouldn t do. He acts quickly and often times there
isn t time to think about consequences. It shows that he does bad, risky things for good reasons, but
doesn t always fully think through

World War I And America
1939 is when World War 2 started, and everything In the United States started to change. The
American government started to recognize the new immigrants, and the government saw their
children as loyal Americans. On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked the American naval base at
Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. One day after the attack President Franklin D. Rooseveltto declare war on
Japan. This has opened a lot of up doors of opportunity for change for American minorities, as
American Indians who were exposed for the first time to urban life, African Americans reserved
more freedom, women who started to have the ability to work, and Asian Americans who were the
most glaring example of the failure to be adequately pluralistic. At the beginning of World War 2,
American Indians played a big role during the war. 25,000 of them served in the army Including the
famous Navajo Code Talkers (691), while the United Statesfighting against Axis power, they used
Indians to write messages in their complex native language, so the Japanese couldn t not translate
it. A lot of Indians left the reservations for jobs in war manufacture, but after the war many of
them chose not to come back to the reservation. Because they took the advantage of GI Bill;
however, it was an opportunity that had been available to very few Indians to take the bill which is
to attend colleges and have a normal life.
Meanwhile, the group that experienced the greatest changes during World War 2 was African
Americans.

Rugby Uniforms Research Paper
In sports history, clothing can easily help teammates, supportive fans, and coaches identify who
the team players are and what country, school, or club they are a part of, but rugby and football
clothing are slightly different. Throughout time, rugby uniforms have been modified, but they are
still the same in some areas. In the past, jerseys were somewhat similar to polo shirts. On the
back, they had a specific assigned number and their team colors were striped horizontally. Also on
a few shirts they have a rose on them or a nice plant that represents their club team. They still have
these old fashioned uniforms in some club leagues. New and improved uniforms have their solid
leading team color with their first initial and last names and number

How Perseverance Has Changed People s Life
Perseverance has changed many people s lives and people have even made livings from
persevering. Perseverance is doing something despite difficulty, or delay in achieving success.
Anne Frank , Steve Jobs and Derek Redmond are all examples of people who persevered to
succeed in what their goals were. Anne Frank is probably one of the most known person for
perservening. She spent almost 2 years in an attic with 7 other people, to hide from the Nazis
who were taking over many countries. Anne, despite everything happening, she still found ways
to do her school work and all of her lessons. She also did all of her chores while also overcoming all

Banana Peel as a Potential Methane Gas
Introduction To recycle is the new trend in our society now a days. Even foods are being

The Importance Of Love And Happiness
As a singer songwriter, Lana Del Rey, once said, When someone else s happiness is your happiness,
that is love. Love and happiness are two qualities that people seek in life; they are correlating
factors in people s lives, like mine, for example. These two qualities are part of the circle of life and
many believe that having the two factors in their life will lead to a good life.
Like many others, I seek for love and happiness as well, but at the same time, I am already
experiencing them. Generally speaking, I can experience these two factors at the same time and
by the same people, but I can also just experience one and not the other or I can experience none.
In my life, particularly, I can say that I often experience love and happiness from my family and
friends. There are also times where I feel love and happiness from others, such as strangers,
classmates, or different forms of entertainment such as: movies, shows, and social media. But of
course, life also has ups and downs, so there may be moments where I experience sadness or hate
from the people I love and vice versa. Which is why it is important to realize that correlation does
not equal causation.
The first theory that was mentioned in class was the Union Theory, which is the construction of
our desire to create, maintain, and be engaged in a specific kind of union. I agree with this theory
because I believe that it applies to different types of relationships, such as: friendship, romance, or
family. Between those, there is a bond that is formed between you and the other person(s), love.
Like the definition, I do believe that love is based on one s willingness to show such affection
towards another. As contradicting as this seems, I also agree with the statement, love exists
when the distinction between x s interests and y s interests are not marked anymore because one
can love another but that person doesn t have to show love back. Although x may not love y the
same, love still exists because y may still have some sort of affectionate feeling towards x. I
believe that one sided love exists, but I also believe that love is not pure if two do not love each
other the same. In other words, in order to have true love in a relationship, both parties

Benefits Of A Wireless Technology
Choosing a wireless technology to transmit very small amounts of data from A to B should be
very simple in todays world, but in reality making sense of the wireless connectivity technology
landscape for the Internet of Things is the opposite of simple and obvious it is a complex
landscape and its getting more complex as time goes by.
In the short range corner we have some familiar LAN and PAN technologies such as Bluetooth, Ble,
Wi Fi and even Zigbee. Local area network technology will find IoT applications in the home and

So far we have enjoyed LTE M, LTE MTC, Cat 1, Cat 0, Cat M, Release 12, Release 13, CIoT,
Extended Coverage IoT and NB IoT and the milestone date in our diary has slipped March 2016.
So what can we expect then?
NB IoT could be the long term goal, but we don t know for sure. What we have until that arrives is
Cat 1. In between, Cat 0 will be skipped outright, and we will also have Cat M as a stepping stone.
The difference between Cat M / NB IoT and Cat 1 is in the power consumption and cost.
Nevertheless Cat 1 is not where it needs to be. It is the interim solution until we get to Cat M
/ NB IoT. When will these actually arrive? Cat M is scheduled to be commercially available in
2017, while NB IoT is announced for 2018.
Ultimately it won t be a single race of course, and there won t be a single winner. NB IoT or
whatever it is called when it finally arrives will undoubtedly play a very significant part of the
IoT landscape but not yet and then only for use cases where there is a good fit.Applications where
the value of the individual data streams are relatively high and where energy consumption is not
so critical are a natural fit. The reality of required backward compatibility with a complex legacy
(LTE) technology is that no amount of optimisation will be competitive with a true clean slate .

Hunger Artist Essay
Considering the ways in which the movie, Brazil, reflects and deviates from A Hunger Artist and
Panopticism exposes the ways in which the Ministry s systems of surveillance and authority
manipulate and damage the human mind in order to maintain order and control of the public.
Through the pressure of surveillance, the Ministry severely limits the public s freedom and
privacy in order to maintain control of their behavior. The hunger artist allows readers to realize
how a desire to escape such pressures of surveillance can inflict damage to the human mind.
Examining the hunger artist s self destruction that results from his delusions of the importance of

This is reinforced by Sam as his dreams slowly intensify from occurring only when he is asleep
to fusing with a reality to such a point that even the audience is unsure of the difference between
reality and his fantasies. At one point, Jill even remarks that Sam has no sense of reality
(Gilliam, Brazil). This comes with the consequence of Sam s self destruction, which we are able
to realize is such through the similarities it bears to the hunger artist s own self destruction. At
the end of the movie, Sam is seen in a state of blissful insanity sitting in the torture chair. It may
not be clear whether this is a result of the torture that has been inflicted upon him or of his loss
of touch with reality. Either way, it is safe to say that the reason Sam goes insane is ultimately
due to his own error, whether the error is in committing crimes or in his naivety in allowing
himself to get tangled in a confusing web of reality and fantasy. This is just as it is not the public
s fault that the hunger artist grows obsessed with his fantasy of fame and does not have it satisfied,
it is not directly the Ministry s fault that Sam grows obsessed with his own fantasies that are not
satisfied in reality. The public in A Hunger Artist and the Ministry in Brazil are the sources of their
problems but ultimately the hunger artist and Sam Lowry themselves are the only ones who have

Autism has become one of the top disabilities in California s developmental system. Today, the
rise of autism is increasing by 10 17 percent each year. (Madeleine 3) The disease was first

range of skill development, such as: language, behavioral issues, academics, self help skills,
social skills, and leisure skills. (Pericak 5) Many treatment approaches have developed different
ways of dealing with the challenges of autism. First, there is the theory of Applied Behavior

and his/her parents to dedicate so much time, yet it is worth it. However, it has been proven that
ABA methods have shown consistent results in teaching new skills and behaviors to children with
autism. (West 68) Second, there is a program called, Treatment and Education of Autistic and
Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH) that uses a teaching approach to instill
the idea that the environment should be adapted to the child; not the other way around. The child s
learning abilities are assessed through the Psycho Educational Profile (PEP), and teaching strategies

boxes and just moving. There are so many other things to consider when moving like how you
will transport your big and heavy items from your old place, to your new place this requires big
vehicles in order for you to move your items or belongings. You might have a car big enough to
fit things like your clothes or your television but you need a much bigger vehicle to move your
beds, your shofars or even your refrigerator. A removal company will not only take the weight of
your shoulders of you having to carry heavy things, but they will provide you with a vehicle that
is big enough to transport your belongings from point A to point B. If there is any reason that

there was a little river with a rope bridge to cross it. The rope bridge was 100 feet from the

Related Literature Of Blindness
Chapter 2: Review of Related Literature
Blindness may be perceived differently among individuals. It can be a blessing or a curse. It
may be physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate
to the loss or gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much
passion or excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016).
Blindness in a figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment.
Literarily, it can be seen in the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind
stupor (lacking awareness), blind prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste
test (tasting without looking), blind presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson,
2014). Blindness not only means the lack of vision but also the lack of intellectual perception. In

Why Adults Are Better Learners
Why adults are better learners than kids (So NO, you re not too old)
Kids are great! I was an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher for several years in several

language.
Of course, who of us doesn t want to go back to our childhood, when things were simpler and the

t you realise everything you get to merrily skip over?
No need to learn how to distinguish m from n. Hell, no need to learn the vast majority of sounds
that are the same between those languages. No need to develop the muscles in your voice box and
tongue so you can simply attempt to make noises with them. No need to train your ear to be able to
distinguish voices as male/female or even recognisable friends/family, and different to other noises
from the environment. No need to be exposed to years of context of universal human interaction to

The Pursuit of a Theory of Everything
A belief in the unifying principles that underlie all natural phenomena was first articulated by
Aristotle, who proposed all matter stems from the four elements of nature: earth, air, fire, and
water (Duft). The search for such principles has since evolved considerably, yet the firmly rooted
interest in a fundamental unification persists. Unification is defined as attempts to explain several
principles according to one definition or equation. This process occurs in all areas of science, from
biology to cosmology, and often reduces the complexity of calculations and leads to new
predictions regarding related phenomena. In physics, the unification of seemingly unrelated
concepts has led to a number of pivotal discoveries. Several physicists even posit that one ultimate
Theory of Everything exists to explain the nature and behavior of all matter and energy in existence
(Hawking and Mlodinow). This notion has intrigued scientists and philosophers for decades, though
the final theory, should one exist, has yet to be determined. Unification begins by connecting
complementary ideas into more general frameworks and serves an important role in explaining
observations. More rigorously, the concept of unification can be defined as the reduction many
related concepts to form a simple, integrated theory (Salmon). The purpose of unification is to
foster a cohesive understanding of the universe. Bartelborth explains that, we seek order and
structure in our world and make sense of

time where rappers or hip hop artist carried the stigma of criminality or some other nefarious act,
these gentlemen remained intelligent and social aware while producing the music that they love,

The Role Of Judas In The Holy Bible
The biblical narrative derived for this composition origins from the gospel writings according to
St. Luke in The Holy Bible. Within his writings, Luke recounts the Passover, Christ s warning of
the betrayal, and the night of the betrayal. On the night of the betrayal, he recounts Christ waking
the sleeping disciples, Judas amongst them, explaining him rising to bestow a kiss onto Christ. St.
Luke states: And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the
twelve, went before them, and drew near to Jesusto kiss him (Luke 21:47). Giotto s fresco directly
becomes influenced from this scene, and becomes the point of action he creates within his
biblical narrative fresco. His composition marks the beginning of the chaos that clouds Christ s
arrest; illustrating the powerful confrontation Christ and Judas are compelled into. While Christ
is depicted unwavering in his pose and expression, Judas is rendered in a furious facial
expression and stance. His face is inflated more so than Christ s, illustrating the swelling of
corruption beneath his physical features. He appears almost to gaze hatefully towards Christ, as
his eyebrows become fused tightly together and appear to create a tension within his form. He
pose is similar to an animalistic stance; he has one hand on Christ s shoulder to draw him in
nearer, while enclosing his long yellow cloak around his figure to envelop him within this grasp.
By Judas expression and stance, Giotto depicts

Diversified companies, straddling multiple industries, or even just different parts of one large

Donald Trump Persuasive Essay
When Donald Trump announced that he intended to run for president, no one took him
seriously; however, President Trump became the center of attention after a few short weeks.
While there are many people who believe Donald Trump will better our nation, there are just as
many who think he will destroy it because Hillary Clinton has more political experience.
However, experience is not always good experience. In March of 2015, the media came across
an email scandal. While Hillary Clinton served under President Obama as Secretary of State, she
used her family s private email server for official communications that violated major rules, and at
the same time allowed the Benghazi crisis to occur right under her nose. President Trump is also
bashed by individuals who believe he will corrupt our government because he is not a good
politician, but due to his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For starters, Donald Trump wants us to move away from our traditional allies such as Saudi
Arabia. He also wants the United States to look towards new allies such as Russia and help
Syria to squash their civil war. The civil war in Syria has helped the Islamic State, or ISIS, grow
into that region due to the instability and lack of governmental control. The way he would do
this would be by increasing the budget on the military, a budget that was slashed by the previous
administration. Many other countries continue to strengthen their own military while ours has
been weakened for the past 8 years. This policy would help reduce the amount of global
terrorism. Along with this policy in the Middle East, Trump wants to redo the Iran Nuclear deal,
a deal which is very dangerous to the United States. Another part of Trump s foreign policy is to
renegotiate and even back out of old and new trade deals to better benefit the country. Trump s
knowledge in business would help make him an expert on different types of trade deals and would

Core Competencies For Healthcare Professionals
My Leadership SMART Goal
The Institute of Medicine has defined five core competencies for healthcare professionals. These
competencies are to provide patient centered care, work in inter professional teams, employ
evidence based practice, apply quality improvement, and utilize informatics. (Finkelman, 2012, p.
214). Nurse leaders recognize that the need to put the patient first is at the heart of patient centered
care and is significant in all aspects of nursing care. Patient centered care incorporates collaboration
with the patient and family and takes into consideration cultural diversity or issues that will affect
the patient s ability to manage and maintain their health. Keeping the lines of communication open
with our patients involves assuring that they are kept abreast of their health management and
provided with up to date education to help them utilize measures to maintain their health. As nurses
we are accountable to our patients and need to stay current with our own education and commit to
lifelong learning (Fights, 2012) to be sure we are passing on up to date and relevant information.
Acquiring certification is an important way of validating our practice and proving our commitment
to providing quality patient centered care. Fights challenges us to ask ourselves if we are
committed to lifelong learning or furthering our education. Signing up at Chamberlain to obtain my
BSN was an important step for me but I will not let this be the end of learning.

Piracy From The Corporate And Public Side
However, let s go past the obvious and look at the underlying aversion to digital piracy that people
have. We will look at arguments against piracy from the corporate and public side. The average
laymen and the CEO both hate digital piracy, but they do for different reasons.
The main argument against piracy from companies is: pirating makes them lose money.
Companies think that if someone finds a movie online for free, they won t turn around and buy it
later. It really comes down to the dollar bills. Arthur De Vany, of the University of California and
David Walls, of the University of Calgary conducted a study on the effects that piracy has on
revenue. They concluded that for the one movie they studied, piracy directly destroyed $40 million
in box office revenue. (14). Imagine that amount of money, and even more depending on the
movie, coming about of the big hole in company pockets called piracy. It s no wonder these
companies are alarmed.
According to a study by Columbia University s American Assembly called Copy Culture, 45
percent of Americans pirate media; and younger demographics pirate more (Mick 2). In response,
some companies have gotten creative and put their media through alternatives such as Spotify for
music, Netflix for movies and Steam for games. This makes media cheaper and more accessible,
while still giving the companies something to stuff their pockets with. However, others refuse to go
through the system and they still pirate entertainment. One

The movie Blackfish is a documentary of the story of Tilikum, a captive killer whale that has taken
several lives, exploits the issues amongst the sea park industry, and illustrates how little is known

commonalities with that of Blacks in America. The film touches on commonalities that can be
generalized in comparison with slavery: family, captivity, sound and language, natural and captured
behavior, separation. Through genes, captivity and the psychological and physical abuse of the

The whale is still in captivity and some of today s African Americans are still enslaved. We, as a
people, are in a position today where we control very little and are slaves to white people for
goods and services. Our educational system, which we do not control, does not prepare children
for a future and it lacks very little education of our history as a people. We are segregated from
white people and we are killing each other at an alarming rate. Our dollars do not go back into
the community but to the Jordon s and Polo s of the world and neither company does anything

slavery and what was forced upon our ancestors 150 years of free labor with no education and no

Unwind Themes
Unwind written by Neal Shusterman is scoped with ideas that are very relevant in our society
today. The novel is based in the future where a child is both terminated and yet kept alive,
however in a divided state. The main themes in the novel are the right to life and the right to do
what we want with our own bodies, these ideas are in all three of the main characters lives. The
idea of the right to life is very important in today s society the reason for this is that taking away
someone s life is murder, except in our society it comes in all different forms. We have a right to
our lives! We have a right to choose what happens to our bodies Connor.
Firstly, Shusterman uses the main characters to portray the theme of the right to life. Connor
gets his life taken away from him at the age of sixteen when his parents sign his life away to be

found the unwind card that would take him to his death, the worst of all was that his family was
going on vacation the day after he was going to be unwind. So Connor went looking a little deeper
when his parents went out, and he found it the unwind order. this shows us that Connor s parents
didn t even have the decency to tell him and the worst thing was it was the holiday they were
planning to go on The date on the order was the day before the Bahamas trip. Shusterman used these
quotes to express that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why Democratic Parties Are Better Than Other Political...
America has always had a distinct political system, at times it could be calm and peaceful, but in
others it can be the complete opposite; such as the events that occurred in this past election.
Similar to controversial events, in politics there is always going to be an opposing viewpoint;
therefore there is always going to be an opposing group of people. For that reason, that is how the
party system began between the Democrats and the opposing party known as the Whigs. Both
parties had opposing views and ideas, but some were stronger than others. Both parties had their
flaws and advantages which helped them hold the the upper hand in certain time periods. In this
essay I will name and explain the points each party supported, the reasons why both parties opposed
each other s points, and the reasons why the Democratic partyhad the upper hand from the year

the opposition of both parties was that they had different ideas; but the main reason was that the
creation of the Whig party was started by a group of people which initially started with intentions
to oppose Andrew Jackson s view in the Democratic party. The Whigs disapproved of Jackson s
views even more after after the attack on the national bank, and the assumption that he vetoed
something for his own personal choice rather than it being unconstitutional .(Lecture 10 + GVL pg

Frostbit is a really big concern when climbing Mount Everest and some are really severe. Here

airlifted off the mountain and had frostbite to his hands and feet. Makalu Gaus injuries were a lot
more serious than Beck weathers injuries.
Having mental anguish is something you don t wanna have when climbing Mount Everest. Mental
anguish is when you have certain types of suffering that may include distress, anxiety, and
depression. Jon Krakauer had mental anguish after reaching the summit of Mount Everest. He
had not slept for fifty seven hours and was reeling from brain altering effects of oxygen

Essay Analysis of Pinocchio and Toy Story
Analysis of Pinocchio and Toy Story
Recently I have been watching two Disney films on completely different sides of the Disney
timeline. Pinocchio was made in 1940 using cell animation with the story taken from an existing
folk tale. Toy Story was made in 1995 and it was the first computer generated feature film. This
created a whole new genre of computer animated films such as Finding Nemo and the recent
Incredibles . Both of these films use a toy as the main character and as always they both fit into the
conventions of any Disney film.
The narrative structure of both films is in some way similar as both of the main characters are
separated from home and the films involve them trying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The good characters in Pinocchio are very stereotypical such as Gepetto. He is a typical homely
grandfather figure. Jiminy Cricket adds guidance and humour to the film and finally the Blue
Fairy is added for beauty with bright ora. On the other hand Sid s toys in Toy Story are very
unattractive, and at first we are led to believe they are evil, but in fact they save Woody and
Buzz. This shows that you should never judge on appearance. As we have good characters there
are also evil characters. They are usually portrayed in very stereotypical ways such as an evil
laugh or an ugly exterior. Some examples of this is Stromboli the circus owner in Pinocchio
who is large and intimidating. His eyes are frightening and he is most definitely greedy. Honest
John is also evil; he is a sly and cunning fox with a pun on his name. In Toy Story the only bad
character is Sid. He is horrible, ugly (a brace and an evil laugh) and even he destroys toys. But as in
every Disney film the good will eventually overcome the evil.
Another Disney convention is that there are always some Disney Values in each picture. In
Pinocchio , Toy Story and even Finding Nemo one of the morals is that there is no place like
home. The Toy Story morals are Not to be jealous and Be happy with what

  • 2. Case Study – Cunard Line, Ltd. Case Study Cunard Line, Ltd. Problem Cunard is facing a problem as to whether their marketing efforts should go towards tactical promotions or if they should be applied to marketing the overall brand while facing the effects of a recession. Analysis Overview Cunard Line Ltd. is a cruise line that represents luxury and class providing four to five star cruise ship options. Their overall target market is mature adults with mid to very high income levels. A lot of the marketing efforts put forth by Cunard were going towards tactical efforts and the promotion of individual ships as opposed to the promotion of the entire brand. Although most of the ads portrayed the same look and had an individually tailored paragraph and/or photo. Set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This method can be used for customers of the four or five star ships. This loyalty program would provide occasional direct offers to customers who already have experience with Cunard and therefore will not view the deals as a lowering of standards. An example of a deal that can be provided is a selling package that is good for a year or two. This package would outline a discounted price for a set amount of people to travel on a certain cruise ship. That way, there is enough time for a customer to realistically plan out a trip while providing an incentive for them and encourage more action as opposed to a regular priced ad. Lastly, an alternative that can be taken is to build relationships with various large companies with employees who make an income in the target range and make offers to company executives. This method would not downplay the company image because Cunard would be communicating directly with high income executives and furthermore will not be making any public sales or advertisements. This method would create new potential customers who are directly in the target market of choice using the method of relationship building. This may also result in additional customer retention. This method can be used for both the four and five star ships. In order to attract the target market of the five star ships, Cunard can make an arrangement with a company to offer a deal with their luxury ships as part of a retirement plan. ... • 3. Analysis Of Through A Window By Jane Goodall Connections within Jane Goodall s Through a Window Throughout the term, reading the book, Through a Window by Jane Goodall has been quite intriguing for me, in that it has inspired me with new ideas and perceptions about how our own species has evolved over time. I have really enjoyed seeing the many similarities that hominids share with other primate species, especially chimpanzees. Goodall s research only further proves that we are not only extremely biologically similar to chimpanzees in our DNA, but have many behavioral similarities as well. The film, Monkey in the Mirror also shows support for our likeness in intellectuality. These documented findings on chimpanzeeand human resemblances provides the strong evidence needed to conclude the fact that humans do indeed share a common ancestor with great apes. I found Goodall s chapter Mothers and Daughters very fascinating, and caught my interest the most because I immediately found myself making connections within my own life and experiences. Goodall compared the parenting styles of the two mothers, Flo, and Passion. These two chimps have completely opposite ways of raising their young, with Flo being very loving, nurturing, and caring of her daughter Fifi, while Passion was a very cold, harsh, and intolerant mother to her daughter, Pom. You can easily see the dramatic difference in how their childhood shaped the two chimpanzees in their adulthood, just how we commonly see this in humans as well. Fifi had a ... • 4. Essay On Casino Royale When I first began reading this book, I assumed that it would be like the 2 previous books in the series: fast paced with good action and good characters, but more a fun read than anything else. It was going to be enjoyable in an Ocean s Eleven or Casino Royale way like its predecessors. And so going into this, my initial reaction was surprise. In the first chapter I was already delving into the past of Kat and Hale s powerful bond and the history of their relationship, something I thought would never be explained. Already, the book was surprising me with its depth of character development and hidden deeper meanings. Throughout the book the theme of the characters taking on much bigger and influential roles continued. I learned to lovethe characters not just as characters but real people; I learned to look at Kat s world not just as all bright, cheerful hues, but this book revealed the shadowy, dark shades of Kat s world as well: corruption, hurt, and lots of angst. But, powering through it all and saving the day was the infinite loyalty and love of her family. While reading the book, I don t think my reactions and responses varied greatly. However, they differed greatly from my reactions and responses while reading the previous books, when I was caught up more in the adventure and plot of the book. While those aspects of this book were equally enthralling as the other books, I reacted and responded more to the characters in this book. My reactions and responses to the ... • 5. Scarcity Of Water Essay Leonardo da Vinci said, Water is the driving force of all nature. Most people will acknowledge this statement because water is necessary for both life and good health. Water is an essential ingredient of life not only for humans but also for the animals with which we share the world and the environment that sustains our presence. This is the most pressing global issue because when water is no longer safe to use, or is polluted, this causes problems in many other areas, such as with general health and hygiene, child mortality, and the environmental stability for the farming and ranching industries. According to the United Nations, forty percent of the world s population is a victim of water scarcity, and the number is rising, which is why more recently this issue has become prominent with the media internationally. In the end, water is how our world survives, and when its purity is in jeopardy, so is the stability of our world. While it is easier for someone who lives in America to see the localized water related problems in this country, such as the droughts in California and the Flint, Michigan water quality crisis, clean water is a worldwide issue and a preventable one. Many impoverished people must live with unclean water due to neglect of this problem by their governing political bodies. The United Nations reports 1,000 children dying every day from diseases caused by unclean water and sanitation issues that are avoidable with reasonable improvements. When the ... Sociology, its thoughts it methods, conceptual schemes and theories have been based on and built up within the male social universe, even when women have participated in its doing. There is thus a disjunction between how women experience the world and the concepts and theoretical schemes by which society s self consciousness is inscribed. However when an accident occurs, and company s production and sales are at stake, many overlook operational best practices in business ethics. Today, companies are greatly impacted by society s evolvultion toward a good place for everyone which is diverse in culture, religion, and socioeconomic background. This trajectory drives social changes, activists, and theorists who believe attaining the good is worth pursuing and has no boundaries. As Aristotle noted, the end goals of political and individual well being are justice and happiness (Collins, 2015). (2010) suggested that, A program is a sequence of instructions that specifies how to perform a computation. Given this information, it was concluded that rules and disciplines were required in order for the knight to understand and process any instructions given to it. Having prior knowledge that the knight would foremost, need a full understanding of movement as a program platform, it was evaluated, that rotational 360o axis was attached as a second layer to the maze, this accommodated to calculate how many degrees the knight would need to turn as it progressed through the maze; leaving an understanding of full movement understanding (see Appendix C). A solution to this was to complete and record all of the movements in a Microsoft Excel chart. The chart would record how many movements the knight would have to take, how many steps were required, whether to turn left 90o or turn right 90o and movements up or down. The decision was also made to declare that each square the knight had completed, would be recorded as 1 step and whether the knight turned or moved multiple steps, each procedure would be recorded as 1 movement (see Appendix A). Using this method, I created a cognitive solution or pathway to a complex maze. Its simplicity produced a visual instruction on which directional momentum or pivot the knight would need to move in order to reach the Princess in the centre of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both, the rich and poor accumulated wealth during this period, which started in the 1870 s and ended in the early 1900 s. Eric Larson s book, Devil in the White City, portrayed that the United States began to experience manifest destiny, a rise in economic power, and modernity due to individualism during the Gilded Age. Manifest destiny expressed a utopian vision of the United States (Heinkin, 323). In the book, Daniel Burnham s creation of the World s Fair represents manifest destiny. This fair attracted people from all over the world. Railroads became expanded leading more people to Burnham s fair. The more people that came into America, the more need for expansion was supported. • 14. An Analysis of Benjamin Franklin s Autobiography Introduction Benjamin Franklin is revered by Americans as one of its most revered and adored founding fathers. For foreigners, Benjamin Franklin became the very icon of America, not only because he was accomplished, but because he was a new man, a man that could only have been made in America. Franklin came to be seen as the embodiment of American values. The image and the values promoted in Franklin s autobiography would later come to be regarded as essential American virtues: determination, industriousness, and self sufficiency. It was purportedly these virtues which led to his great practical accomplishments in publishing, politics, and science. In a sense, Franklin s autobiography was the first exposition of the now famous American Dream. Thesis: In his autobiography, Franklin is undoubtedly concerned with developing virtue and self improvement, but relies on others as the primary frame of reference for his own progress, always measuring himself with others. This habit of comparison results in the development of vices as well as virtues. Background Aims At the start of the First Chapter, Franklin claims to write only so that his own life may be an example for his son of how one can live well and how one can get through hardships. Headed to her usual spot beneath the old Willow near the edge of the forest, she runs full speed down the hill, hopefully relieving some of her anger. As she stops at the edge of the forest, book in hand, now sitting, she can t help but notice her veins flooding with adrenaline. She s so mad she can t sit still. Alice jumps up and begins walking through the woods, at a rather fast pace, she suddenly stops at the sound of an odd noise. Frozen, she slowly turns to see that there s a rather small cat staring up at her. As she bends down to pet it, she sees another one, and another, until there are more than thirty cats surrounding her. Unnerved, Alice sets off at a sprint, hurdling over the rotten log fallen across her path. Finally, she s outrun them. Alice stops as she comes to a clearing almost tripping over something. Searching for what she has stumbled into, she sees a glimpse of royal blue covered in thick layers of weeds and vines. Hastily pulling the vines from their tangled chaos, Alice finally reveals an old pot . Appeared to be worn and rusting, blue paint chipping, the once gold flowers now brown, Alice notices a large ceramic plate fitted to the top of the pot. Afraid but curious, she slowly lifts the side. • 16. Materials Engineering Of Photovoltaic Cells Materials Engineering in Photovoltaic cells In today s world when we think about energy sources, there are 2 classifications they can be split into: renewable and non renewable sources of energy. Fossil fuels are the backbone for most of the energy we use today. We need this fuel for almost all of our daily routine, from lighting a fire to running heavy machinery, but with increase in population there has been an increasing demand of such energy. Fuels like these tend to give massive amount of energy but also affect the environment by producing harmful gases and residue. With the depletion of the fossil fuels such as coal and petroleum we needed to switch to alternate form of energy which and there has been an ever greater need for a cleaner and renewable form of energy. Humans have tried to find many alternative (and renewable) forms of energy such as wind and water but not at a very large scale. With an abundance of solar energy available to harvest, it is one of the most widely cultivated renewable forms of energy. Solar cells or photovoltaic are the primary devices that are able to harvest the sun s energy in a form that can be used every day. Semiconductors are one of the more widely used materials in the solar cells industry; however other materials such as organic photovoltaic, solution processed solar cells and dye sensitized solar cells are also used in the market. • 17. The Structural Domains And Mechanism Of Action Of Ribozymes 1)Describe the structural domains and mechanism of action of ribozymes. How can ribozymes be useful as therapeutic agents? (10 points) RNA molecules that act as enzymes are called ribozymes. They are capable of catalyzing the cleavage of their own RNA or other RNA substrates (Missailidis, 2008). Ribozymes are involved in viroid replication, RNA splicing and protein synthesis. (Clark Russel, 2005) The structure of ribozymes consist of a catalytic domain and a substrate binding domain. (Ebrahimian, 2015) The substrate binding domain has a specific sequence antisense to the target mRNA. This sequence recognizes and hybridizes specifically to its substrate. (Missailidis, 2008). Alteration of the substrate binding domain can be done so that the substrate specifically cleaves any mRNA sequence. The RNA catalytic domain cleaves the substrate at a target site recognized by the ribozyme (Glick Pasternak, 2003). The resultant products are then degraded by ribonucleases and the ribozyme dissociates itself from the RNA products and binds to another mRNA to be cleaved. (Missailidis, 2008) Therapeutic ribozymes can be designed to target almost any RNA sequence and decrease the amount of a particular protein that is synthesized (Glick Pasternak, 2003). This can be done by incorporating the catalytic domain of ribozyme into short oligonucleotides antisense to the target mRNA (Missailidis, 2008). Ribozymes can be used to identify specific sites and introduced into the system to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, fast fashion leaves behind some issues, which are not beneficial to environmental protection and human costs. In fast fashion industries, it requires companies to complete missions in a short time, some fast fashion companies use unethical acts in order to complete producing on time which may result in environmental issue and appears unfair labour practices. Yes, nurturing children, building a loving and caring relationship in an early childhood stage allows young children to obtain a positive self concept, reach social emotional development, understand others, achieve physical growth0 and learn intellectually and morally (Love Our Children USA). First, a positive self concept (the image one has of oneself and ones strengths) sets the basis as to how a child will conduct his or herself in the future. So, for instance, a bad day should not be shown through the teacher s attitude. The attitude shown on a bad day should mask the day they are having. This is to insure a nurturing environment for a young child. Second, along with guidance, children need nurture to help social and emotional skills develop. Many psychologists point out that there is a very strong relationship between parenting styles and the social development of children (Kasschau 80). Children from nurturing homes will, in fact, be stronger socially than children from homes without nurturing caregivers. One of the first and most important steps in promoting social development is teaching children prosocial behaviors. Prosocial behaviors are acts of kindness that benefit others such as sharing, helping others, and showing concern. Many people argue that prosocial behaviors should be learned naturally; however teaching a child prosocial behaviors is the most accurate way to ensure the quality of kindness in young children. Emotional development is another important factor in a growing child. Humans use different emotions to express their feelings to others everyday. Love and happiness are two qualities that people seek in life; they are correlating factors in people s lives, like mine, for example. These two qualities are part of the circle of life and many believe that having the two factors in their life will lead to a good life. Like many others, I seek for love and happiness as well, but at the same time, I am already experiencing them. Generally speaking, I can experience these two factors at the same time and by the same people, but I can also just experience one and not the other or I can experience none. In my life, particularly, I can say that I often experience love and happiness from my family and friends. There are also times where I feel love and happiness from others, such as strangers, classmates, or different forms of entertainment such as: movies, shows, and social media. But of course, life also has ups and downs, so there may be moments where I experience sadness or hate from the people I love and vice versa. Which is why it is important to realize that correlation does not equal causation. The first theory that was mentioned in class was the Union Theory, which is the construction of our desire to create, maintain, and be engaged in a specific kind of union. I agree with this theory because I believe that it applies to different types of relationships, such as: friendship, romance, or family. Between those, there is a bond that is formed between you and the other person(s), love. Like the definition, I do believe that love is based on one s willingness to show such affection towards another. As contradicting as this seems, I also agree with the statement, love exists when the distinction between x s interests and y s interests are not marked anymore because one can love another but that person doesn t have to show love back. Although x may not love y the same, love still exists because y may still have some sort of affectionate feeling towards x. I believe that one sided love exists, but I also believe that love is not pure if two do not love each other the same. In other words, in order to have true love in a relationship, both parties ... Looking to my right and I saw large number of large mountains that were densely covered with jungle vegetation. I looked down and noticed the clouds below me. Our altitude was very high because I noticed the air getting colder. We finally reached the top of the mountain. Our guide showed us around the ruins. Walking around, I saw the unique arch architecture of the doorways. There was a carving of an eagle on a circular stone on the ground. I wondered how the Incas could have carved the stones perfectly to sit on top of each other without cement. Some were stacked up to 10 feet high. There were some Incan... Our tour continued as our guide showed us to a large, flat field where the Incas did their celebrations and rituals. There were llamas grazing on the field. One llama walked up to me and sniffed me. The llama was brown with black legs. I looked into the llama s face and it looked like it was smiling! From there, I walked to the edge of the mountain and looked down. There was a steep cliff with only jungle vegetation at the bottom. At the bottom there was a little river with a rope bridge to cross it. The rope bridge was 100 feet from the ground and didn t look very sturdy. I wouldn t cross that, I mumbled. I walked down the Inca Temple and out the Incan houses glancing up one last time at the remains of the mighty city. I thought of what used to be up there and how glorious it was. It may be physical or psychological. It can be a metaphor to show the passion that is proportionate to the loss or gain, happiness or misery, peace or war. When our judgment is clouded by too much passion or excessive love, there is a tendency to be blinded to the limitless pitfalls (Bady, 2016). Blindness in a figurative sense can be seen as a split between ignorance and concealment. Literarily, it can be seen in the following phrases Blind ignorance (lacking knowledge), blind stupor (lacking awareness), blind prejudice (lacking a critical or questioning attitude), blind taste test (tasting without looking), blind presentation (lacking preparation or information) (Paterson, 2014). • 41. The Pursuit of a Theory of Everything A belief in the unifying principles that underlie all natural phenomena was first articulated by Aristotle, who proposed all matter stems from the four elements of nature: earth, air, fire, and water (Duft). The search for such principles has since evolved considerably, yet the firmly rooted interest in a fundamental unification persists. Unification is defined as attempts to explain several principles according to one definition or equation. This process occurs in all areas of science, from biology to cosmology, and often reduces the complexity of calculations and leads to new predictions regarding related phenomena. In physics, the unification of seemingly unrelated concepts has led to a number of pivotal discoveries. Several physicists even posit that one ultimate Theory of Everything exists to explain the nature and behavior of all matter and energy in existence (Hawking and Mlodinow). This notion has intrigued scientists and philosophers for decades, though the final theory, should one exist, has yet to be determined. Unification begins by connecting complementary ideas into more general frameworks and serves an important role in explaining observations. More rigorously, the concept of unification can be defined as the reduction many related concepts to form a simple, integrated theory (Salmon). The purpose of unification is to foster a cohesive understanding of the universe. Bartelborth explains that, we seek order and structure in our world and make sense of ... Within his writings, Luke recounts the Passover, Christ s warning of the betrayal, and the night of the betrayal. On the night of the betrayal, he recounts Christ waking the sleeping disciples, Judas amongst them, explaining him rising to bestow a kiss onto Christ. St. Luke states: And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near to Jesusto kiss him (Luke 21:47). Giotto s fresco directly becomes influenced from this scene, and becomes the point of action he creates within his biblical narrative fresco. His composition marks the beginning of the chaos that clouds Christ s arrest; illustrating the powerful confrontation Christ and Judas are compelled into. While Christ is depicted unwavering in his pose and expression, Judas is rendered in a furious facial expression and stance. His face is inflated more so than Christ s, illustrating the swelling of corruption beneath his physical features. He appears almost to gaze hatefully towards Christ, as his eyebrows become fused tightly together and appear to create a tension within his form. He pose is similar to an animalistic stance; he has one hand on Christ s shoulder to draw him in nearer, while enclosing his long yellow cloak around his figure to envelop him within this grasp. We will look at arguments against piracy from the corporate and public side. The average laymen and the CEO both hate digital piracy, but they do for different reasons. The main argument against piracy from companies is: pirating makes them lose money. Companies think that if someone finds a movie online for free, they won t turn around and buy it later. It really comes down to the dollar bills. Arthur De Vany, of the University of California and David Walls, of the University of Calgary conducted a study on the effects that piracy has on revenue. They concluded that for the one movie they studied, piracy directly destroyed $40 million in box office revenue. (14). Imagine that amount of money, and even more depending on the movie, coming about of the big hole in company pockets called piracy. It s no wonder these companies are alarmed. According to a study by Columbia University s American Assembly called Copy Culture, 45 percent of Americans pirate media; and younger demographics pirate more (Mick 2). In response, some companies have gotten creative and put their media through alternatives such as Spotify for music, Netflix for movies and Steam for games. This makes media cheaper and more accessible, while still giving the companies something to stuff their pockets with. For that reason, that is how the party system began between the Democrats and the opposing party known as the Whigs. Both parties had opposing views and ideas, but some were stronger than others. Both parties had their flaws and advantages which helped them hold the the upper hand in certain time periods. • 54. Essay Analysis of Pinocchio and Toy Story Analysis of Pinocchio and Toy Story Recently I have been watching two Disney films on completely different sides of the Disney timeline. Pinocchio was made in 1940 using cell animation with the story taken from an existing folk tale. Toy Story was made in 1995 and it was the first computer generated feature film. This created a whole new genre of computer animated films such as Finding Nemo and the recent Incredibles . The good characters in Pinocchio are very stereotypical such as Gepetto. He is a typical homely grandfather figure. Jiminy Cricket adds guidance and humour to the film and finally the Blue Fairy is added for beauty with bright ora. Another Disney convention is that there are always some Disney Values in each picture. In Pinocchio , Toy Story and even Finding Nemo one of the morals is that there is no place like home. The Toy Story morals are Not to be jealous and Be happy with what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
