The Meaning Of Figurative Language In Debt By Sara Teasdale
2. The speaker in the poem Debt is the author, Sara Teasdale. By what she is saying, one can infer
that she cannot commit to the person who loves her, and vies for the person who is unattainable.
The rejection of the person who doesn t love her may motivate Teasdale to love harder and become
more obsessed with gaining his attention.
3. Teasdale is trying to almost apologize to the person who loves her deeply because she cannot
feel the same for him, instead loving the person who pays her no attention. If she embraced the love
of the person who gave it to her, there would be no internal conflict, thus the poem wouldn t exist.
4. The title of the poem, Debt, is significant to how Teasdale feels about her admirer, indebted. She
implies that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of sensory imagery used in Debt is never gave my spirit wings. Spirit and wings
could be both aurally and meaning rich because Teasdale uses them to illustrate a scene of how
she is unhappy with how she feels with her suitor. Because she uses wings, the reader can infer
that Teasdale feels trapped because her former suitor wants her to reciprocate his feelings.
Moreover, in the second stanza, the lines I owe the little open gate that led through heaven s
wall appeals to the readers minds, painting a picture of what Teasdale feels as if she owes to the
person she contends for. By saying that she owes the little open gate, she depicts a scene where
Heaven, or in this case, everything she can give, as blocked off and closed off. Teasdale desires
for it to be portrayed this way because it allows the reader to infer that she is willing to sacrifice
almost everything to get the little open gate that led through heaven s wall for the person she

Aristotle s Virtue Ethics And Ethics
Engineers are many times assessed only by their technical knowledge. However, virtues are a
fundamental to engineering. Virtues create a purpose for an engineer to design and invent as
well as push them to excel in their field. Aristotle s virtue ethics gives us a framework of how we
can define and classify these virtues. In this paper I will explain some key concept of Aristotle s
virtueethics, as well as share the virtues I have learned as a student of engineeringand how they will
impact my future career.
Aristotle s virtue ethics attempt to answer the question of how to live a good life. Three key
concepts of Aristotle s virtue ethics are Eudaimonia, arГЄte, and telos. Eudaimonia is described as
happiness or flourishing. Aristotle believed that humans have the unique ability to govern their
action with reason. The ideal practice of reason is exemplified through one s work. People are able
to experience the good life through excelling in fulfilling work. The idea of excelling is described
by Aristotle s concept of arГЄte. ArГЄte is best defined as virtue or being an outstanding example
of its kind. It is the idea of achieving excellence based on your end purpose or telos. Aristotle
believed that virtues become perfected as our potential of reaching our unique telos are actualized.
Along with these key concepts Aristotle presented two types of virtues. The virtues of thought
consist of traits such as wisdom and intelligence, and virtues of character. A young man going to a

Once An Eagle By Anton Myrer
Once an Eagle by Anton Myrer is a very influential novel in the military. In fact, it is required
reading material for all 1st Lieutenants in the Marine Corps as well as in the United States
Military Academy at West Point. Many Army leaders have read the book and often discuss it
among themselves in social situations. Although a fiction read, many leaders extrapolate the use of
mission command as well as the leaderships attributes. In this analysis I will be comparing a single
event in the novel to the Army s leadershipprinciples as well as Mission Command. I will then
provide a personal reflection and conclude.
Synopsis
The book generally describes the rise in the ranks of the main protagonist, Sam Damon, from an
enlistee, to NCO, to Officer where he eventually reaches the rank of a division commander. The
setting and time changes, beginning in World War I, the years between the two wars, World War II
and finally a fictionalized Vietnam where Damon is an advisor. Throughout the book Damon is
able to rise in the ranks thanks to political connections, audacity, and willingness. Through time
Damon himself changes, becoming more self oriented, and looses some of his purity (for lack of a
better description) as he rises in the ranks.
The event I will be focusing on is during Damon s earlier years, in WWI. At the time Damon is a
NCO and is in charge of a platoon. It is during the middle years of WWI and Damon and his unit
are sent in as a show of support. They are paraded in

Applying Leadership Principles Paper
Communication is Key: Strategies to effective leadership
Chontrese Haskins
Applying Leadership Principles: Research Paper: Dr. Amenyah
July 31st 2016
When asked to define a leader, most would define one by naming traits such as self confidence,
ambition, and determination. Although these are great qualities, this does not define a leader. A
leader is someone in a position of authority who has ability to influence a group through effective
communication reaching a common goal. (Robbins, DeCenzo, Coulter, 2015) Effective leaders
work diligently to motive and inspire groups through their actions. This paper is a synopsis of
communication and how effective leadership can drive an organization to success.

2)Democratic Leadership Leadership defined as supervisors including members in the decision
making process.
3)Laissez Faire Leadership Leadership playing little to no role in the decision process. (Coggins, E.

Discovered by Dr. James McGregor Burns, Transformational Leadership relates to engagement and
connectivity. Dr. Bernard Bass expounded Burn s work with transactional leadership in his
publication Work Leadership. Burns and Bass suggest that leaders should raise consciousness to
their followers by sharing the importance of the values and goals of an organization, in turn,
motivating followers to address higher management level needs. In 1985, Bass released Leadership
and Performance beyond expectation breaking down transformational leadership into four parts.
1)Idealized Influence Gaining trust from their follower, the leader/supervisor acts like a role model.
2)Inspirational Motivation Whereas the leader sets high expectations, encouraging his subordinates
to achieve higher goals.

Unraveling the Function of Disease-Related Gene
Creating cellular model has been a challenging task of a genetic engineer. However, cellular model
became a favorite model for biologists due to its inexpensive in generation and maintenance of
culture, avoid risk of losing any precious biological material and expedite the various inherent
intriguing biological mechanisms at first instance before testing for the in vivo application. Cellular
models also provide a great avenue for studying the disease mechanism and drug discovery. To
generate the cellular genetic model, TALENs with the reporters are transfected in human cell line
to induce targeted genome modification. Genetically modified mammals can serve as valuable
models of human genetic disorders, but the majority of disease associated alleles represent single
nucleotide replacement that lead to missense, nonsense, and silent mutations (Sauna and Kimchi
Sarfaty, 2011). Compared with other animal models, mice are preferred because of their small body
size, their fertilization cycle, and genetically close relationship to human genome. To unravel the
function of disease related genes and to understand the mechanism of disease progression, mouse
mutants were generated by pronuclear microinjection of TALEN mRNA targeted to the mouse
homologs of human disease genes into one cell embryos to generate novel Knockout and Knockin
mutants. Frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) is a common cause of presenile dementia

Stereotypes In The Achievement Of Desire By Richard Rodriguez
There is this young girl named Katy. She comes from a family with low income, and little to no
educational background. She does not like sharing her background with others. When she does,
people sigh or seem uninterested and do not want to talk to her. Since she receives negative
feedback when sharing things, she decides not to share anything at all. She wants to do things
but feels obligated to do the opposite of what she wants to do because it is what is expected of
her. She is unhappy doing so, she is not herself. Many people are like Katy. In the sense that they
have expectations of others. The way people perceive us make us do or act a certain way. We
need to not let what others think or expect of us control us. The negative stereotypes we are

Rodriguez wrote about in The Achievement of Desire how he did not wat to be associated with
his parents. They were not bad people or anything but they were Mexican and did not go to
school. They did not completer their education and he felt as if others saw his parents and that
they were not educated, he will be perceived as less than what he is. I would not like to feel or be
treated as less because of my parent s lack of education. Rodriguez is not his parents, I am not my

Medical Marijuana And Medical Therapy
Medical marijuana refers to the use of cannabis as medical therapy in the palliative sense to treat
diseases or alleviate symptoms. This treatment modality has proven to be a highly debatable issue
within the medical field due to the use of this substance as an illicit drug. The National Youth Risk
Behavior Survey monitors priority health risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of
death, disability, and social problems among youth and adults in the United States (Center for
Disease Control and Prevention, 2012). The most recent survey conducted on ninth through twelfth
grade students in public and private schools throughout the United States indicated that in 2011, a
mean of 39.9% of participants reported ever using marijuana one or more times during their lives
(Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012). Although this substance has been most often
used for recreational purposes, recent studies have shown that an increasing number of people are
fighting to have legislation passed in order for the use medicinal marijuana to be made legal. The
populations most affected by such legislation include those positively affected by the use of
medical marijuana, patients suffering from chronic and debilitating illnesses, and those who utilize
the drug for other reasons associated with recreation and personal pleasure. The issue highlights the
beneficial aspect of marijuana use detailing symptom management and improving overall quality of

Aristotle s Life And Political Beliefs Of Aristotle And...
Aristotle:
Aristotle preserves pleasure as a central resolve of human life as a goal. Therefore, he is more
attracted to the subject of happiness than any philosopher prior to the era. Living during the ancient
times same as Mencius, but on the opposing side of the world, he attracts similar conclusions.
Happiness depends on the cultivation of the asset of virtue, however his virtues are rather
distinctive social qualities of the Confucians. Aristotle was influenced to have a genuinely happy
life. the serenity of a broad range of conditions, including but not limited to physical as well as
mental well being. The idea of the science of happiness in the traditional sense, in terms of a new

Essentially, Aristotle argues that virtue is realized by maintaining the Mean, which is the balance
between two extravagances. Aristotle s principle of the Mean is suggestive of Buddha s Middle
Path, but there are fascinating differences. For Aristotle the unkind method of attaining virtue; for
Buddhism, the Middle Path referred to a peaceful way of life which negotiated the extremes of self
discipline and physical pleasure seeking. The Middle Path was a minimal requirement for the
reflective life, and not the source of virtue.

Historical Background Of The American And Vietnamese Stock...
1. Background and introduction to the research
The stock market, which comprises various stock exchanges, plays a leading role in the function of
the financial market (Dziawgo, 2012, p.60). Since there are a great number of issues such as stock
market crashes and the bursting of other financial bubbles, Vietnam still has a number of crucial
challenges to attend to. In this research project, the researcher will outline the historical background
of the American and Vietnamese Stock markets, and investigate the major differences between the
HSX and NYSE, in terms of operations and trading systems. Through gathering this information, the
researcher will be able to recommend what HSX can learn from NYSE to improve the Vietnamese
stock exchange in the foreseeable future.
1.1 Background of American Stock Market
The New York Stock Exchange, the oldest and largest stock market, was founded in 1792. The
major objective of the NYSE is establishing a place where peoples can trade their bonds, stocks
and other investments (Fuentes, 2016). In the beginning, the stock exchange was established as a
group of traders that turned into an unincorporated membership, before becoming a for profit
organization (Waverly, 2016). NYSE is considered not only the largest stock exchange in terms of
how many dollars flow through it every day, but also a haven to various enterprises across the
world (Fuentes, 2016). Currently, its worldwide capitalization is USD 21 trillion (Kiersz, 2014).

Furthermore, at least 15 percent of all ski orders were more than two days late, even though
customers did not miss a trip or vacation as a result. In these situations, an attempt to respond to
these difficulties, Howe instituted a merit performance system for the molders only. Although
productivity seemed to increase for a while, but this was not the permanent solution. Furthermore
the molders felt that their merit ratings were inaccurate, because the store managers could not
observe them much of the time. Further, they argued that their performance would have been much
higher if other employees had not interrupted them with questions about appropriate bindings or
failed to clearly identify the appropriate equipment on the sales tickets. Other employees also
complained because they were not given the opportunity of merit base pay. Sales representative
argued that their work was essential for high sales figures and high quality equipments. Similarly
all others employees started complaints. Howe had to conclude that the employees were correct on
many of these points, so she suspended the merit plan at the end of the ski season and promised to
re evaluate its fairness. Even more convincing were several indications that productivity problems
were not limited to molder employees. Complaint about customer service increased 20 percent

Social Observation Paper
The social observation setting that I chose was a play area in the indoor shopping mall in the
city were I reside. There were approximately 15 children (divided equally among genders) of
various ages, accompanied by several adults most likely parents or family members. Although
many families and children are not originally together, when facilitated in a common play area,
social interaction develops. The children seem to group within similar ages, which developed into
three noticeable groups. Some of the children were brothers and sisters, however as stated before
many of the children had never interacted before. Although my wife granddaughter (who has

My granddaughter is very social, in that she enjoys children and interaction with her peers.
However, once you begin to play, there was a very noticeable affect on the majority of children.
My granddaughter does not self regulate well and can be become extremely hyperactive,
without knowing when to slow down. She does not communicate well (mainly because she is 4
years old), her intensity seemed to alienate her from the other children. Out of the approximate
15 children, there was only two (one girl and one boy) who were not affected by her different
ways. She does not realize how she is alienated from the majority of children, she just interacts
with two children who seemed want to play and interact with her. My granddaughter is very
friendly (always with a smile on her face) however, the children noticed her differences and were
either afraid or alienated her. Although, it tears at your heart to see her alienated (especially
because she enjoys other children so much) it is imperative to expose her to inclusive settings. In
addition to these inclusive interactions, it is imperative for her to be in a progressive educational
setting that allows her the opportunity to grow If an educational program is successful, many
autistic symptoms become less severe (Bogdashina, 2005, p. 168). This was an enlightening
observation that brings light to the possible future alienation of peers, it also brings a positive light
that with successful approaches in inclusive settings all children benefit from play regardless of

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Zinc Oxide
Zinc oxide is a semiconductor material II VI studied since the middle of 20the century. Most of
the physical properties of massive ZnO are therefore well known for several decades. The interest
of the researchers then declined, partly because of a major technological lock for the use of ZnO in
optoelectronics, namely the impossibility of doping the p type ZnO.
The ability to grow thin layers and low dimensional hetero structures (quantum wells, nano columns,
etc.) of good crystalline quality recently revitalized the research effort on ZnO, particularly with the
aim of obtaining effective devices for optoelectronics in the blue and near ultraviolet, in
complement gallium nitride. For this purpose, the main advantage of ZnO GaN is a lower cost,
enabled by the relative abundance of zinc over gallium. Zinc oxide powder is also used as an
additive in numerous products, for example plastics, ceramics, paints, pigments, cosmetics, etc.
In material science, another major benefit of zinc oxide is its strong exciton binding energy which
allows to preserve the exciton properties up to Room temperature. The cohesion energy of the
exciton is indeed twice greater in ZnO ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is the growth of quantum wells along non polar axes. These axes, perpendicular to the
axis c, make it possible to overcome the internal electric field. The main axes used in growth are
axes a and m. The first samples quantum wells of ZnO / (Zn, Mg) O non polar plan A were grown
in 2007 on sapphire substrates [Cha07]. The other axis is to reduce the density of defects
crystalline, responsible for non radiative losses. Most of the centers non radiative are crystal
dislocations, which arise from mesh clash inherent to the heteroepitaxy method. Homoepitaxy, and
therefore the use of massive ZnO substrate, theoretically promises a clear improvement in quality
crystalline. A significant improvement was observed only very recently

Comparison and Contrast
In the name Allah

вќ– Definition: To compare is to show how items are alike. To contrast is to show how items are
different. Thus comparison and contrast involve pointing out the similarities or differences between
two (or more) items.
In deciding what to compare or contrast, you will want to make sure that the items share points in
common. Thus, the items compared are usually the same kind or class of thing, and in comparing
and contrasting them, you essentially establish two or more categories, showing the differences or
similarities between or among them. For example, you can compare two passenger cars a Ford and
a Cadillac ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But your readers will probably want to know what the similarity or difference amounts to. You can
write this for a thesis. However, once you ve noted the difference, the readers will see that you ve
merely stated the obvious. Thus comparison and contrast for its own sake is generally pointless, but
both are extremely useful to develop support for a thesis. To support the thesis statement we should
outline central paragraphs.
вќ– Central paragraph organization:
When you have decided whether to concentrate on comparison or contrast, you still must decide
how to do it. You should organize your comparison or contrast by whichever method suits your
material best. There are three different methods of organization of central paragraph: 1) Point by
point or alternating method 2) Block method 3) Mixed method
1) Point by point or alternating method: In this method you explain one characteristic of item A and
then immediately compare it with that of item B and then you go on to compare the two items
point by point. For example when you want to contrast two brands of automobile e. g. Nissan and
Toyota to decide which to buy, you will consider such subtopics (elements) as price, mile per gallon,
length and width, comfort, and maintenance expense. Thus the organizational type will be:

Similarities Between Ambush And Sniper
Contents of a Dead Man s Pocket , Ambush , and Sniper are three short stories that all seem to be
different but also have similarities. Each story describes a short period of time in the main
characters live that make a significant impact on them. Taking a close look at the literary elements
of setting, theme, conflict, and characters show the similarities and differences between the three
stories.
The three short stories, Contents of a Dead Man s Pocket , Ambush , and Sniper all have
different settings but also similar settings at the same time. The only similarities of the setting
between all three stories are there at night and Ambush and Sniper are in war zones. Contents of
a Dead Man s Pocket main setting is on a ledge 11 stories up. He stood on the ledge outside in the
slight, chill breeze, eleven stories above the street. Ambush setting is shortly after
midnight...dense brush along the trail...the night was foggy and hot. The setting is hot and foggy
unlike Contents of a Dead Man s Pocket which is cool and a clear night. Then Sniper is on a
rooftop compared to Ambush where the setting is in the dense brush. The Sniper setting is
night...dim light of the moon...on a rooftop near O Connell Bridge. Sniper setting is clear and
dark with light coming from the moon, the opposite of Ambush where it s foggy and unclear.

Ocean City Essay
Ocean City is a beautiful vacation place, not just for the summer. Many people go there to relax,
make memories and have a good time. It is a fun filled, family friendly vacation place that
everyone will enjoy and it is worth the drive. Ocean City has a lot of history to go with it, the
first hotel was built by Isaac Coffin in 1869, it was the first beachfront cottage to receive paying
guests, who came to fish, relax, enjoy the beauty of the ocean, and enjoy the sand. Ocean City
extends nearly 10 miles from the southern inlet to the Delawareline. Now there are hotels, motels,
apartments, houses, and condos. Ocean city expanded when the Chesapeake Bay bridgewas
finished, by the 1970 s there were big businesses and more apartments being built. Ocean City is
located near Fenwick Island, near the Delaware line. On the bridge, you get a beautiful view of
the bay and you see boats going all around you and under you. It is a three to four hour drive
depending on traffic. Once you get to Ocean City, depending on where you are, there is a view
of the bay on one side and on the other side, you have a beautiful view of the waves and the sand.
One downfall of this vacation is the cleaning service at Seaside Retreat on 138th street. When we
got there the rooms were not clean, they came and told us that they have until six o clock in the
evening to clean the rooms. Who is going to check into their vacation that late? On the other hand,

The colonists were upset about the import taxes, and many refused to buy British goods. Britain

items such as paper, paint, glass, lead, and tea. The acts angered the colonists. The British soldiers

Do you believe that the officer Daniel Calef saw was Captain Preston? I do not believe that Shop
Owner, Daniel Calef, saw Captain Preston. Why? Because all of the soldiers were wearing that
uniform, they are all matching. If you look at the picture that Paul Revere drew, called the
Bloody Massacre, it shows that all the soldiers were wearing that outfit. Daniel Calef could not
be sure it was the Captain. As for seeing his face plain in the moonlight? That proves nothing. He
could be easily mistaken for another soldier. There is no solid proof that it was the officer, no true
evidence. What he saw could have been merely a simple soldiers along with the rest of them.
5.Why or why not? He s just trying to get Preston in trouble with the court so that way they can

According to Robert Goddard, The Captain fired because an estimated group of 50 boys were all
throwing snowballs and the group, and the Captain warned them to stop, and when they didn t, he
supposedly fired.
7.How were the testimonies of Daniel Calef and William Wyat similar? They are similar because

Instead of peacefully resolving conflicts, Jack s first resort becomes violence. This is in large
part due to Ralph s inability to create the simulation of civilization on their tropical prison. In
high pressure and high stress situations, the human mind, in order to cope with what is
happening, can degenerate to that of an animal s. Humans do not have the idea of morals pre
programmed into their brains upon birth. From preschool and up children are taught to solve
their conflicts with words and not violence. When we are children we oftentimes don t
understand why we are in trouble, and our parents have to explain to us what we did wrong .
This is because we are still learning how to act in a civilized manner, and haven t fully grasped
the concept of right versus wrong. Some would argue: Even children feel bad about bullying or
hurting other students. However, these children are not recognizing that the attacker is in the
wrong, they are empathizing or feeling pity towards the victim. Feeling the emotions of empathy

or bad. Even animals have the ability to feel love and hate, but unlike humans, they have no
concept of morals. Due to society influences, we have been taught there is a large difference
between what is right and what is wrong, but the truth of the matter is, the line between being
morally correct and morally incorrect is much grayer than made out to

Japan Imperialism
Japan Within the History of Empires Japan s history has been mostly accounted as a history of a
homogeneous national entity in the post war historiography. Yet as Andre Schmid and Jordan
Sand contest, this notion is replete with problems. Not only does this interpretation gloss over
the historical fact of Japan as an imperialist and colonialist power, but it also dismisses the
dynamic embedded in history that shaped the trajectory of Japan from an empire to a nation
state as seen today. This paper will briefly discuss the question of Japan s national history and
argues for a reconsideration of Japan s historical position within the history of empires by drawing
this week s readings. There is no doubt that Japan was once an empire and an imperialist as well as
a colonialist power. James Huffman s definition of colonialismand imperialismgives a concise
account: while imperialism refers to tangible or intangible dominance and colonialism caters more
to concrete extra territories, they are not exclusive to each other. Although not until the acquisition
of Taiwan in 1895 was Japan as a formal imperialist/colonial power established, its exertion of
power in Hokkaido and Okinawa could be traced as preceding... Show more content on

As Cooper argues, the emergence of nation states is only a recent phenomenon, a result of the
permeable boundaries between empires and other types of political entities within the dynamic

empire to a state is actually a product of imperial intersections which brought about the collisions

Epistemology and Its Influences
In order to elucidate the way in which the choice of epistemology influences the formulation of a
management research problem, it is necessary to define the term epistemology and clarify some of
the varying epistemological stances. In doing so, the reader will be able to understand the myriad
different variations of epistemological viewpoints, each of which shape the direction of researchand
the sort of problem that research attempts to identify. Managementresearch builds on the long
tradition of research in the social sciences (Somekh and Lewin, 2005). Primarily, epistemology
provides the very lens through which research is conducted. Certain epistemological lenses,
therefore, are best suited for certain types of research and research problems, whereas other research
problems can be determined most efficaciously through other epistemological lenses.
To simplify this assertion, it is best to define epistemology as a series of (occasionally
conflicting) views about the most appropriate (Easterby Smith et al, 2012) method of inquiring
about the source of knowledge in the world. The pivotal element of this definition is the fact that
there are a multitude of epistemological perspectives, and some are more appropriate for certain
management research problems than for others. Thus, epistemology is one of the primary ways in
which researchers can specifically tailor the pursuit of their research question, which is a crucial
part of the research process (Podsakoff and Dalton,

Summary Of Sammy Yatim
Sammy Yatim was an 18 years old boy who got on a streetcar late during the night of July 26,
2013. Mark Rogan from Toronto Life describes what happened that night; four girls boarded and
sat at the back of the car near Yatim. He proceeded to unzip his pants and expose himself, and a
switchblade to the girls, causing them to scream. This caused a panic in all the other passengers,
and they began to exit the streetcar despite Yatim s demands to remain where they were. Once
exiting the streetcar many people began to call 911, and the policearrived on scene shortly after, this
is when the conflicting issue began. When ConstableJames Forcillo arrived Yatim was near the
front exit of the streetcar, he immediately drew his weapon and shouted for Yatim to Drop the
knife , resulting in Yatim insulting Forcillo. Once Forcillo realized that Yatim would now calm
down, he asked for his partner to call for an officer who had a Taser, since not all police officers
in Toronto are allowed to carry them. This is the first issue in this case. If Forcillo had a Taser the
situation could have resulted in a better ending. When Yatim disobeyed orders by stepping towards
the exit of the streetcar, Forcillo shot his gun 3 times causing Yatim to fall to the ground. At this
point other police officers entered the streetcar and Forcillo shot 6 more times. The officer with the
Taser then arrived and noticed that Yatim was still struggling and holding the knife, so he Tasered

Febrile Epilepsy Research Paper
Each year, one in one hundred people in the United State develop epilepsy, but there is a less
common type of epilepsy. It s called febrile infection related epileptic syndrome, more commonly
known as FIRES. I happen to know one of the few people who have this type of epilepsy. Her name
is Kailee, and she goes to my brother s school. She was even in some of his classes. This type of
epilepsyoccurs in school aged children between the ages of six and seventeen ( What is FIRES?

illness is when someone has a fever but they aren t sick with anything else ( Febrile Illness ). When
Kaylee was at this point, her mom thought she had the flu. This is very common, as the flu presents
itself as a fever in many children. Then, the child starts to have seizures. The seizures occur very
quickly, and the child needs to be hospitalized immediately at this point. Seizures the children

Digital Transformation of Business Models Using Exponential Technologies
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Today, businesses are undertaking digital transformation to know what
customers value most and creating new business models depending upon the needs of people. A
business model is the way in which how a company generates revenue and how a company can
make profit. An efficient business model helps to improve the performance and efficiency of the
organisation. To develop a good business model first we have to identify the company s unique
value propositions that company offers to their customers. Customer s expectations and technology
are changing day by day. The people are all addicted to internet and they are using the Internet for
each and every purpose in their life. Due to this change, the organisations have to implement new
business models and values according to the changing needs and expectation of the customers. This
paper discusses about the Digital Transformation of Business Models Using Exponential
Technologies . The business models can be reshaped by giving high priority to the customer needs
and transforming the customer value proposition and organizing operations for delivering that value.
Successful digital transformation comes not from implementing new technologies but from
transforming your organization to take advantage of the possibilities that new technologies provide.

How North Korea became a Cruel Country
How did North Korea become the cruel country that scorches both surrounding and distant nations
with its sternly severe socialist flame? Subjugated by Japan in 1910, North Korea was mercilessly
enslaved for thirty five years. Due to Japan s defeat in World War II in 1945, the United States
occupied the southern region of the Korean Peninsula while Soviet troops seized the north. As a
result communism spread like weeds. Sadly, North Koreas government, military, and economy
were all by shaped by the leftist views suppressed on them. The root of the problem was Kim Il
Sung, the first premier of the Democratic People s Republic of Korea. At the urging of the United
States, the United Nations General Assembly established elections, introduced a constitution, and
formed the Republic of Korea in South Korea. The North Korean government evenly divides the
tasks of leadership among numerous officials as this obligation requires careful attention. In
accordance with their constitution, the head of government is the premier; Choe Yong rim
presently occupies this position. Specifically aiding the premier, three vice premiers and the
cabinet, which is comprised of twenty eight ministers, are next in power. The uppermost

A Comparative Study Of The Status Of Women
The declaring of 1975 85 decade as the International Women s decade also gave impetus to
women s movements for removing the notion of inferiority of women and giving them a sense
of identity. The Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB) established by the Government of India
in 1953, also promotes and strengthens volunteer efforts for the welfare of women. The Ministry
of Welfare, Government of India, too, gives grants to voluntary organizations for activities like
construction/expansion of hostels for working women in cities. The analysis of six types of
movements suggests that movements are generally initiated and spread by charismatic leaders or
by political parties and religious organizations. In the former case, the ideologies are transmitted
downwards while in the latter case, these are transmitted upwards. Once any movement based on
certain ideology changes, it is not necessary that it will spread in the course of time, it can gain
in strength and it can also lose its vitality either because it is considered irrelevant or because it is
suppressed by the government. Comparative Study of the status of Women in the Period of Pre
and post Independence: If we will examine the status of women and distinguish the position of
women in the post independence period with the pre independence period, we must be in a confuse
state of mind that we are moving towards the development or declining the opposition of women. If
we will critically examine the status of women, the impact and

The Theory Of Multiple Intelligences
Introduction In this investigation related to intelligence cognitive and learning as a style of
individual differences, explanation the complex process of learning through of the intelligences.
Howards Gardner developed the theory of multiple intelligences thirty years ago, explain the
intelligence is the profile and each individual has different ways to learn, he affirm has seven
intelligences differ in their thinking, feeling, and behavior. No two people are alike, yet no two
people are unlike Gardner (1983). Gardner s theory has been adopted by many schools, has an
impact in the education system, a lot of teacher s included on their bloom s taxonomy the different
intelligences to understand how the information is absorbed, processed, and retained during
learning process, utilizing the tools to deliver instruction effectively. There are environmental,
cognitive and emotional variables that play an important role in the learning process. Multiple
Intelligences Theory A learning theory is an attempt to describe how people and animals learn;
thereby helping us understands the inherently complex process of learning. Gardner theories of
multiple intelligences should empower learners , not restrict them to one modality of learning. He
studies intelligence where individuals differ is in the strength of these intelligences and in the ways
in which such intelligences are involved and combined to carry out different responsibilities, solve

Bootlegging and Al Capone Essay
BOOTLEGGING In 1919, the Eighteenth Amendment was passed, this amendment made the
consumption and sell of alcohol illegal. A group of people referred to as moral reformers felt that
banning the sell and consumption of alcohol would better protect the lives of people as well as
make them better (Rose). Businesses, such as industrial businesses, believed that it would better
productivity if the workers could remain sober. The Volsted Act was passed shortly after the
Eighteenth Amendment to make sure it was enforced since local authorities did not do such; there
were only fifteen hundred agents to enforce the law and the act was also underfunded. Therefore,
the Prohibition was not enforced well enough and the organized crime rates... Show more content on

saying that he is not the problem with the crime in Chicago but the government is, for enforcing
the law. He also expressed how, When (he) sell(s) liquor, it is bootlegging; when (his) patrons

Al Capone was notorious for his bootlegging and annihilating his competition; in order to do
that, he had to kill them. Before Capone became the big time bootlegger/ murderer/ assassination

History of Ledd Zeppelin and ITs Musical Impact
Tell someone to name a band from the 1960s and 70s and you could probably listen to a dozen
answers before hearing the same one twice. The overwhelming amount of talent squeezed into
these two decades has produced some of the most popular, most powerful, and in some cases, the
most bizarre music ever. Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The
Yardbirds,
Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Queen, Aerosmith, Crosby, Stills, Nash

in the Midlands with only his subway fair in his pocket.
The last link to the chain was John Bonham (b. May 20, 1948, Bromwich) on drums.
The band finished their ten date tour of Scandinavia with some unexpected success. Everywhere
they went people were asking how a band like this could go unnoticed. The unique blend of blues
influenced rock, and guitar riff based songs blew their audience away. On October 15, 1968, Led
Zeppelin, made up of Page, Plant, Jones and
Bonham, made it s official debut at Surrey University. The group began touring the US, backing
up such headliners as Vanilla Fudge, and The MC5 shortly thereafter. Instantaneous recognition
followed. The groups popularity was soaring. On January 31, 69, Led Zeppelin opened for Iron
Butterfly, then one of the world s biggest bands. Led Zeppelin received such a resounding approval
from the audience, that Doug Ingle, lead singer for Iron Butterfly decided to scrap the show.
Reason being are that Iron Butterfly was afraid that they can t produce such an effect on their
crowd... in their own concert...in which they are headlining. Led Zeppelin soon became a headliner

Research Paper On Widdershins
Widdershins is the opposite direction as the path the sun appears to move in when viewed from the
Northern Hemisphere. It can also be spelt withershins, widershins, or widderschynnes. Widdershins
is also known as counterclockwise, anti clockwise, or lefthandwise and is considered the direction
opposite from the usual. Walking around something and always keeping it to your left is walking
in a widdershin motion. The German word widersinin ( against + sense ) shares the same origin as
widdershins. The Lowland Scots used the term commonly.
In Wicca and Paganism, widdershins is the opposite direction that a circle is cast; it is instead the
direction that the circle is closed. For sun worshiping traditions and cultures, widdershins appears to

It is such a strange word that doesn t really share origins or the general feel of its counterpart
deosil. The two are very easy to get switched around in your head; I have to imagine the hands on
a clock going from twelve to seven without passing six to make sure I have it correct. I once won
a round of a game called Balderdash because of the word widdershins. The game has odd and
archaic terms that the players have to write down plausible definitions of the word. One player then
reads out the written and real definitions and the others guess the correct one. I knew the term so I
automatically got points.
In conclusion, widdershins means counterclockwise. It is opposite as the apparent direction the sun
travels in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere. It is considered bad luck in folklore to travel
widdershins, especially around churches and fairy rings. It is sometimes viewed as negative,
wrong, or against the norm. To work with negative energy, to banish something, or to close a circle
are reasons to use widdershins in

Evaluating Paley s Design Argument
Ultimately, Paley s argument uses an inductive argument to suggest that all things with properties
of intelligence and complexity must have an intelligent designer who designs them for a specific
purpose. When evaluating Paley s design argument, it is evident that it has its flaws. From the
inductive argument presented, objections can be made in the first premise by claiming that not all
processes have a clear purpose. For instance, when natural disasters such as earthquakes and
tornadoes occur, what purpose do they serve exactly, and why would God s work include such
disaster? In fact, that leads us to ask why the universe would be designed with such imperfections?
It is these types of questions that David Hume utilizes to undermine the design... Show more content

The dilemma theists are presented with is that if the world has imperfections due to the evil that
exists, which serves no clear purpose, then God, the designer of the world, therefore must be
imperfect. But this is not the image that is to be perceived of God if he were to exist. Instead,
God, in the human mind, would only exist if he was a perfect being. Without the characteristic
of a perfect being, one is able to claim that God does not exist as the designer of the world.
However, the main criticism that Hume proposes is to not claim that it is impossible for God
not to exist as a perfect being but rather our lack of experience in the creation of the world cannot
allow us to claim that God is perfect. Because the design argument is an empirical argument for
the existence of God, our experiences with the world, including those that involve evil, cannot
allow us to possibly ignore the fact that God may not be a perfect being. If this this case, then God
s image

The Ones Who Walk Away From The By Ursula Le Guin
The topic of Ursula Le Guin s short story The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas is of
conscientiousness. The theme revolves around how people are often willing to excuse awful
things if it s for their own gain. The first element that led me to the theme is the tone of the story.
Specifically, the clashing of the tones between the narrator is describing the city of Omelas and
when they are describing the child and the room he/she is kept in. When describing the city, the
tone is very bright and exultant; the narrator tries their best to make this place sound like the
utopia it supposedly is: With a clamor of bells that set the swallows soaring, the Festival of
Summer came to the city Omelas, bright towered by the sea. The rigging of the boats in harbor
sparkled with flags. In the streets between houses with red roofs and painted walls, between old
moss grown gardens and under avenues of trees, past great parks and public buildings,
processions moved, (Guin 1). The picture that is painted here is one of pure bliss, almost fairy
tale like cheerfulness. This is in stark contrast to the dark and dismal way that the child and the
room that they are kept in is described: The floor is dirt, a little damp to the touch, as cellar dirt
usually is. The room is about three paces long and two wide.... The people at the door never say
anything, but the child, who has not always lived in the tool room, and can remember sunlight and
its mother s voice, sometimes speaks. I will be good, it

James Chadwick Research Paper
Just In! James Chadwick Has Discovered The Neutron! It was a great day in May of 1932 and
when we finally received answers to the other particle in the nucleus. After many years of
questions and theories; one man James Chadwick has discovered a new uncharged particle, the
neutron. Chadwick had been studying to find this particle since 1914 in Germany with Hans
Geiger, unfortunately due to World War I he was arrested and his studies were put on halt.
Although he was in prison he was still able to do some scientific studies after creating a science
club with some fellow prisoners; and convincing the guards to allow them to have a lab. Eventually
he was released and return to England where he earned his PhD at Cambridge with Ernest

This information has not always been know to man though. Thankfully scientist such as J.J
Thompson, Ernest Rutherford, and James Chadwick were able to perform experiments to shed
more light on what the atom was made of. The electron was first found in 1897 by J.J Thompson;
shortly after in 1911 the nucleus was discovered by Rutherford, leading to him later discovering the
proton in 1919. Before James Chadwick discovered the neutron many scientists believed that there
were additional protons in the nucleus, along with the equal number of electrons to cancel out the
additional charge. Then in 1920 Rutherford thought that the protons plus the electrons made up a
new particle but it was never confirmed. After a few years of study John Chadwick was able to
discover the neutron through unidentified radiation experiments, one experiment in particular
caught his eye FrГ©dГ©ric and IrГЁne Joliot Curie had studied unidentified radiation from
beryllium as it hit a paraffin wax target. This experiment encouraged Chadwick to do some of his
own experiments in 1932 which made him believe that the radiation ejected from beryllium was in
fact a neutral particle about the mass of a proton. He also tried many other targets besides the
paraffin wax, these included helium, nitrogen, and lithium. These experiments led Chadwick to
find the the mass of the new particle was more than the proton, he also found out that the neutrons

Everybody was dismissed from class and An Arizona prison teacher who was left alone in a
classroom and then raped by a convicted sex offender has reached a settlement in her lawsuit
accusing corrections officials of failing to protect her. This is really important because we need
to be more careful because you would never know who around might be a sex offender. Men
should be the ones who should always protect the women and not disrespect them. We should
never touch a girl because there will be consequences and can go to jail for most of your life. On
the day of the attack, six of the inmates left the classroom, but 21 year old Jacob Harvey
remained. He stabbed the woman repeatedly with a pen, choked her, slammed her head into the
floor, tore off her clothes and raped her. There was no supervision from correctional officers, the
victim said. This is important because this man Jacob had just reaped a girl while she was hurt
and he was hitting her. This is so awful because no one should be doing this to a girl. Especially
if it is guy we would serve more years in prison. Jacob was sent to serve 36.25 consecutive years

  • 2. The Meaning Of Figurative Language In Debt By Sara Teasdale 2. The speaker in the poem Debt is the author, Sara Teasdale. By what she is saying, one can infer that she cannot commit to the person who loves her, and vies for the person who is unattainable. The rejection of the person who doesn t love her may motivate Teasdale to love harder and become more obsessed with gaining his attention. 3. Teasdale is trying to almost apologize to the person who loves her deeply because she cannot feel the same for him, instead loving the person who pays her no attention. If she embraced the love of the person who gave it to her, there would be no internal conflict, thus the poem wouldn t exist. 4. The title of the poem, Debt, is significant to how Teasdale feels about her admirer, indebted. She implies that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One example of sensory imagery used in Debt is never gave my spirit wings. Spirit and wings could be both aurally and meaning rich because Teasdale uses them to illustrate a scene of how she is unhappy with how she feels with her suitor. Because she uses wings, the reader can infer that Teasdale feels trapped because her former suitor wants her to reciprocate his feelings. Moreover, in the second stanza, the lines I owe the little open gate that led through heaven s wall appeals to the readers minds, painting a picture of what Teasdale feels as if she owes to the person she contends for. By saying that she owes the little open gate, she depicts a scene where Heaven, or in this case, everything she can give, as blocked off and closed off. Teasdale desires for it to be portrayed this way because it allows the reader to infer that she is willing to sacrifice almost everything to get the little open gate that led through heaven s wall for the person she ... • 4. Aristotle s Virtue Ethics And Ethics Engineers are many times assessed only by their technical knowledge. However, virtues are a fundamental to engineering. Virtues create a purpose for an engineer to design and invent as well as push them to excel in their field. Aristotle s virtue ethics gives us a framework of how we can define and classify these virtues. In this paper I will explain some key concept of Aristotle s virtueethics, as well as share the virtues I have learned as a student of engineeringand how they will impact my future career. Aristotle s virtue ethics attempt to answer the question of how to live a good life. Three key concepts of Aristotle s virtue ethics are Eudaimonia, arГЄte, and telos. Eudaimonia is described as happiness or flourishing. Aristotle believed that humans have the unique ability to govern their action with reason. The ideal practice of reason is exemplified through one s work. People are able to experience the good life through excelling in fulfilling work. The idea of excelling is described by Aristotle s concept of arГЄte. ArГЄte is best defined as virtue or being an outstanding example of its kind. It is the idea of achieving excellence based on your end purpose or telos. Aristotle believed that virtues become perfected as our potential of reaching our unique telos are actualized. Along with these key concepts Aristotle presented two types of virtues. The virtues of thought consist of traits such as wisdom and intelligence, and virtues of character. A young man going to a ... • 5. Once An Eagle By Anton Myrer Once an Eagle by Anton Myrer is a very influential novel in the military. In fact, it is required reading material for all 1st Lieutenants in the Marine Corps as well as in the United States Military Academy at West Point. Many Army leaders have read the book and often discuss it among themselves in social situations. Although a fiction read, many leaders extrapolate the use of mission command as well as the leaderships attributes. In this analysis I will be comparing a single event in the novel to the Army s leadershipprinciples as well as Mission Command. I will then provide a personal reflection and conclude. Synopsis The book generally describes the rise in the ranks of the main protagonist, Sam Damon, from an enlistee, to NCO, to Officer where he eventually reaches the rank of a division commander. The setting and time changes, beginning in World War I, the years between the two wars, World War II and finally a fictionalized Vietnam where Damon is an advisor. Throughout the book Damon is able to rise in the ranks thanks to political connections, audacity, and willingness. Through time Damon himself changes, becoming more self oriented, and looses some of his purity (for lack of a better description) as he rises in the ranks. The event I will be focusing on is during Damon s earlier years, in WWI. At the time Damon is a NCO and is in charge of a platoon. It is during the middle years of WWI and Damon and his unit are sent in as a show of support. They are paraded in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Applying Leadership Principles Paper Communication is Key: Strategies to effective leadership Chontrese Haskins Applying Leadership Principles: Research Paper: Dr. Amenyah July 31st 2016 When asked to define a leader, most would define one by naming traits such as self confidence, ambition, and determination. Although these are great qualities, this does not define a leader. A leader is someone in a position of authority who has ability to influence a group through effective communication reaching a common goal. (Robbins, DeCenzo, Coulter, 2015) Effective leaders work diligently to motive and inspire groups through their actions. This paper is a synopsis of communication and how effective leadership can drive an organization to success. The study of leadership dates back as far as the late 20th century. ... Dr. Bernard Bass expounded Burn s work with transactional leadership in his publication Work Leadership. Burns and Bass suggest that leaders should raise consciousness to their followers by sharing the importance of the values and goals of an organization, in turn, motivating followers to address higher management level needs. In 1985, Bass released Leadership and Performance beyond expectation breaking down transformational leadership into four parts. 1)Idealized Influence Gaining trust from their follower, the leader/supervisor acts like a role model. 2)Inspirational Motivation Whereas the leader sets high expectations, encouraging his subordinates to achieve higher goals. 3)Intellectual Stimulation Followers are encouraged to become innovative ... • 8. Unraveling the Function of Disease-Related Gene Creating cellular model has been a challenging task of a genetic engineer. However, cellular model became a favorite model for biologists due to its inexpensive in generation and maintenance of culture, avoid risk of losing any precious biological material and expedite the various inherent intriguing biological mechanisms at first instance before testing for the in vivo application. Cellular models also provide a great avenue for studying the disease mechanism and drug discovery. To generate the cellular genetic model, TALENs with the reporters are transfected in human cell line to induce targeted genome modification. Genetically modified mammals can serve as valuable models of human genetic disorders, but the majority of disease associated alleles represent single nucleotide replacement that lead to missense, nonsense, and silent mutations (Sauna and Kimchi Sarfaty, 2011). Compared with other animal models, mice are preferred because of their small body size, their fertilization cycle, and genetically close relationship to human genome. To unravel the function of disease related genes and to understand the mechanism of disease progression, mouse mutants were generated by pronuclear microinjection of TALEN mRNA targeted to the mouse homologs of human disease genes into one cell embryos to generate novel Knockout and Knockin mutants. • 9. Stereotypes In The Achievement Of Desire By Richard Rodriguez There is this young girl named Katy. She comes from a family with low income, and little to no educational background. She does not like sharing her background with others. When she does, people sigh or seem uninterested and do not want to talk to her. Since she receives negative feedback when sharing things, she decides not to share anything at all. She wants to do things but feels obligated to do the opposite of what she wants to do because it is what is expected of her. She is unhappy doing so, she is not herself. Many people are like Katy. In the sense that they have expectations of others. The way people perceive us make us do or act a certain way. We need to not let what others think or expect of us control us. The negative stereotypes we are associated with can make us not be ourselves and be unhappy, causing us to do things because it is expected of us and sometimes we set these expectations on ourselves.... This treatment modality has proven to be a highly debatable issue within the medical field due to the use of this substance as an illicit drug. The National Youth Risk Behavior Survey monitors priority health risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death, disability, and social problems among youth and adults in the United States (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012). The most recent survey conducted on ninth through twelfth grade students in public and private schools throughout the United States indicated that in 2011, a mean of 39.9% of participants reported ever using marijuana one or more times during their lives (Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 2012). Although this substance has been most often used for recreational purposes, recent studies have shown that an increasing number of people are fighting to have legislation passed in order for the use medicinal marijuana to be made legal. The populations most affected by such legislation include those positively affected by the use of medical marijuana, patients suffering from chronic and debilitating illnesses, and those who utilize the drug for other reasons associated with recreation and personal pleasure. Most of the physical properties of massive ZnO are therefore well known for several decades. The interest of the researchers then declined, partly because of a major technological lock for the use of ZnO in optoelectronics, namely the impossibility of doping the p type ZnO. The ability to grow thin layers and low dimensional hetero structures (quantum wells, nano columns, etc.) of good crystalline quality recently revitalized the research effort on ZnO, particularly with the aim of obtaining effective devices for optoelectronics in the blue and near ultraviolet, in complement gallium nitride. For this purpose, the main advantage of ZnO GaN is a lower cost, enabled by the relative abundance of zinc over gallium. Zinc oxide powder is also used as an additive in numerous products, for example plastics, ceramics, paints, pigments, cosmetics, etc. In material science, another major benefit of zinc oxide is its strong exciton binding energy which allows to preserve the exciton properties up to Room temperature. Epistemology and Its Influences In order to elucidate the way in which the choice of epistemology influences the formulation of a management research problem, it is necessary to define the term epistemology and clarify some of the varying epistemological stances. In doing so, the reader will be able to understand the myriad different variations of epistemological viewpoints, each of which shape the direction of researchand the sort of problem that research attempts to identify. Managementresearch builds on the long tradition of research in the social sciences (Somekh and Lewin, 2005). Primarily, epistemology provides the very lens through which research is conducted. Certain epistemological lenses, therefore, are best suited for certain types of research and research problems, whereas other research problems can be determined most efficaciously through other epistemological lenses. To simplify this assertion, it is best to define epistemology as a series of (occasionally conflicting) views about the most appropriate (Easterby Smith et al, 2012) method of inquiring about the source of knowledge in the world. The pivotal element of this definition is the fact that there are a multitude of epistemological perspectives, and some are more appropriate for certain management research problems than for others. Thus, epistemology is one of the primary ways in which researchers can specifically tailor the pursuit of their research question, which is a crucial part of the research process (Podsakoff and Dalton, ... • 32. Summary Of Sammy Yatim Sammy Yatim was an 18 years old boy who got on a streetcar late during the night of July 26, 2013. Mark Rogan from Toronto Life describes what happened that night; four girls boarded and sat at the back of the car near Yatim. He proceeded to unzip his pants and expose himself, and a switchblade to the girls, causing them to scream. This caused a panic in all the other passengers, and they began to exit the streetcar despite Yatim s demands to remain where they were. Once exiting the streetcar many people began to call 911, and the policearrived on scene shortly after, this is when the conflicting issue began. When ConstableJames Forcillo arrived Yatim was near the front exit of the streetcar, he immediately drew his weapon and shouted for Yatim to Drop the knife , resulting in Yatim insulting Forcillo. Once Forcillo realized that Yatim would now calm down, he asked for his partner to call for an officer who had a Taser, since not all police officers in Toronto are allowed to carry them. This is the first issue in this case. If Forcillo had a Taser the situation could have resulted in a better ending. When Yatim disobeyed orders by stepping towards the exit of the streetcar, Forcillo shot his gun 3 times causing Yatim to fall to the ground. At this point other police officers entered the streetcar and Forcillo shot 6 more times. The officer with the Taser then arrived and noticed that Yatim was still struggling and holding the knife, so he Tasered him. The ending to this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s called febrile infection related epileptic syndrome, more commonly known as FIRES. I happen to know one of the few people who have this type of epilepsy. Her name is Kailee, and she goes to my brother s school. She was even in some of his classes. This type of epilepsyoccurs in school aged children between the ages of six and seventeen ( What is FIRES? ). It starts with a mild febrile illness that lasts anywhere from four days to two weeks. Febrile illness is when someone has a fever but they aren t sick with anything else ( Febrile Illness ). When Kaylee was at this point, her mom thought she had the flu. This is very common, as the flu presents itself as a fever in many children. Then, the child starts to have seizures. The seizures occur very quickly, and the child needs to be hospitalized immediately at this point. Seizures the children experience are non focal, meaning they have no consistent starting point or ending point in the brain ( What is FIRES ). The problem with this theory is that no gene has been found that could link to FIRES. Some scientists think the disease is a result of an autoimmune response, while others think the seizures are caused by a malfunction in the metabolic process of some cells. Both of these theories have little evidence to support them. FIRES could be a result of the febrile illness that comes before the seizures. Evaluating Paley s Design Argument Ultimately, Paley s argument uses an inductive argument to suggest that all things with properties of intelligence and complexity must have an intelligent designer who designs them for a specific purpose. When evaluating Paley s design argument, it is evident that it has its flaws. From the inductive argument presented, objections can be made in the first premise by claiming that not all processes have a clear purpose. For instance, when natural disasters such as earthquakes and tornadoes occur, what purpose do they serve exactly, and why would God s work include such disaster? In fact, that leads us to ask why the universe would be designed with such imperfections? It is these types of questions that David Hume utilizes to undermine the design... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The dilemma theists are presented with is that if the world has imperfections due to the evil that exists, which serves no clear purpose, then God, the designer of the world, therefore must be imperfect. But this is not the image that is to be perceived of God if he were to exist. Instead, God, in the human mind, would only exist if he was a perfect being. Without the characteristic of a perfect being, one is able to claim that God does not exist as the designer of the world. However, the main criticism that Hume proposes is to not claim that it is impossible for God not to exist as a perfect being but rather our lack of experience in the creation of the world cannot allow us to claim that God is perfect. Because the design argument is an empirical argument for the existence of God, our experiences with the world, including those that involve evil, cannot allow us to possibly ignore the fact that God may not be a perfect being. The theme revolves around how people are often willing to excuse awful things if it s for their own gain. The first element that led me to the theme is the tone of the story. Specifically, the clashing of the tones between the narrator is describing the city of Omelas and when they are describing the child and the room he/she is kept in. When describing the city, the tone is very bright and exultant; the narrator tries their best to make this place sound like the utopia it supposedly is: With a clamor of bells that set the swallows soaring, the Festival of Summer came to the city Omelas, bright towered by the sea. The rigging of the boats in harbor sparkled with flags. In the streets between houses with red roofs and painted walls, between old moss grown gardens and under avenues of trees, past great parks and public buildings, processions moved, (Guin 1). The picture that is painted here is one of pure bliss, almost fairy tale like cheerfulness. This is in stark contrast to the dark and dismal way that the child and the room that they are kept in is described: The floor is dirt, a little damp to the touch, as cellar dirt usually is. Before James Chadwick discovered the neutron many scientists believed that there were additional protons in the nucleus, along with the equal number of electrons to cancel out the additional charge.
