unique, unscripted and talented performer Brendan O Hara
Brendan O Hara born in Boston but was raised in Washington and New Jersey. He is a singer

another while he was singing, jumping between piano and guitar. His voice came directly from his

Welfare To Work Reform Essay
Societies for years have preached the theory of individual responsibility as the righteous route for
it citizens to pursuit. The worth of a society is often based on the monetary network of individuals.
Moreover, in the United States this is the norm to focus on individual responsibility. However,
every society is faced with the conflict of poverty that requires some type of social welfarepolicy.
Poverty is not a stranger to the United States and therefore it created program such as welfare to
assist the poor. The welfare system has evolved over the years sometime for the good and others
for the bad. In 1996, President Bill Clintonsigned the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity
Reconciliation Act. This law changes the way... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the states were allowed to design their own program. Some states felt that education
was a better use of fund while other concentrated on job training. The federal government set the
basic policy for the organization (welfare to work) program however, states incorporated their
own structure. Welfare to work reform tends to operate on a developmental concept. In the
program parent are provided services such as child care, food nutrition programs (Dolgoff, R.,
Feldstein, 2009, p.141). When viewing the assistance offer by welfare to work program seem to
be selective in natural. Recipients included in selective program normally receive services based
on their needs such as food and housing (Dolgoff, R., Feldstein, 2009, p.142).
Services such as daycare services. When examining the source of benefits for welfare to work
recipients, it tends to be a mixture of monetary, services and utilities. Recipients often qualify to
receive housing such as section eight in Alabama. They are given welfare check and receive
assistance on power bills and water. In other words, they are assisted in the basic need for living.
The service is generally provided by public sector such as the federal government, which in turn is
dispersed to state government. In some state services are contracted out to private for profit
organizations. The service are administered at

Oprah Winfrey s Influence On Law Enforcement And Schools...
Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody s going to know whether you did it or
not. Oprah Winfrey. Being born into an abusive family to a teen mother may hold some people
from becoming successful, but not Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey uses her rocky past to motivate her to
help others, and provide victims of sexual abuse with a safe haven. Winfrey has made an impact on
America. The former pageant queen and talk showhost helped establish the National Sex Offender
Registry which made an impact on law enforcement and schools across the country. Winfrey also
changed the face of talk shows by giving back to the community and focusing on bigger problems,
not just celebrities and gossip. To better understand how Oprah Winfreyis heroic one must explore
her past, her accomplishments, and how her kind heart has helped raise money for many charities.
Oprah Winfrey s past helped shape her into the influential person she is presently. According to
achievement.org, the official website of a museum of living history in Washington D.C., Winfrey
was born on January 29, 1954 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to mother, Vernita Lee and father Vernon
Winfrey. Vernita was just a teenager when Oprah Winfrey was born. Winfrey was sexually abused
by several of her mother s friends and relatives while her mother was away working. The abuse
lasted from ages nine to thirteen. When Winfrey tried to run away, she was sent to a juvenile
detention home, but was denied admittance because all

Ipv4 Vs. Ipv4 Ipv6
IPv4 vs. IPv6
IPv4 and IPv6 are communication protocols (rules) which allow remote computers, servers, and
other IT related devices to communicate. Both owe their existence to the massive growth of the
internet. There was no need for IP versions in 1969 when the internet began as ARPANET, a
network set up by the United States Defense Advance Research Project. With only a few dozen
computers on the net, each identified by a host name, they were able identify, contact and
communicate with each other using host name only. When ARPANET went public and became
what we know as the internet today, using host names only to identify devices became untenable.
What is IPv4 and IPv6? The IP stands for Internet Protocol. Internet Protocol is the ... Show more

That ignorance was short lived as the internet, and the number of devices connected to it grew
exponentially. Every device which connects to the internet requires an IP address. Computers,
printers, tablets, and phones must each have a unique address or they will not be able to
communicate via the net. The magnitude of internet growth revealed there was a need for more
addresses by the late 1980s. Pv4 addresses are separated into 5 classes which are identified by the
first Octet value as follows (Odom, p.391):
Class A1 126 Unicast addresses(0 127 reserved)
Class B128 191Unicast addresses
Class C192 223Unicast addresses
Class D224 239Multicast addresses not used for unicast
Class E240 255Experimental not used for unicast The classes were divided into network groups
which determined how many actual IPv4 addresses were in each group. The chart below best
illustrates the network/IPv4 address breakdown (Odom, p. 394):
RANGECLASSNETWORKSADDRESSES
0Reserved
1 126A12616,000,000 each
127Reserved
128 191B16,00065,000 each
192 223C2,000,000254 each
224 239DMulticastMulticast
240 255EExperimentalExperimental
With a limited numbers of IP addresses available, the original practice of assigning a whole
network from a class, for example a Class B network from the 129 range with 65,000 addresses, to
a company which needed only 500 IP addresses, wasted IP addresses.

The Organization Of Symmetry Financial Essay
This analysis is on the organization of Symmetry Financial. This essay will discuss the attitudes,
leadership, managerial policies, and practices used by them. By using this data, I will provide a list
of recommendations on how to improve the company. This analysis will describe the culture, nature
of the company, motivational techniques, and modes of communication used. I will provide
information about the company to ensure that the readers understand all of the different categories
used to analyze the company. I will provide information on how individuals, and groups of people
behave within the organization. I will also be evaluating their leadership techniques and how the
owners assist in the day to day running of the business.
One of the most important things a business needs to be successful is happy employees. It is
important for employees and managers have an established plan to deal with critical matters.
Managers must study the behavior of their employees to decide how they will achieve their desired
goals. Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the
interface between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. (Griffin, 2012)
We can divide organizational behavior in 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals
within the organization. The second is the work group which is made by placing workers into
specific groups. The last one is how the organization itself behaves.

Obesity And Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder ( Adhd )
In the twenty first century everyone is looking for a way to be healthy, whether that is by eating
lean meats, staying away from carbohydrates or even avoiding gluten. While some people believe
going on these diets makes them healthier, they do not understand why or the consequences they
may face in the future. Glutenis becoming a well know ingredient; many stores have added gluten
free sections and restaurants have added gluten free items to the menu. However, some people
fail to recognize what gluten truly is, where it can be found and how it actually effects one s
body. The majority of people who are gluten free do not have celiac disease or even gluten
sensitivity. They just go gluten free to reap the benefits of a healthier lifestyle, little do these
people know there are few benefits to be reaped. With that stated, it is also important to note that
people with other disorders such as autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), also
go gluten free to improve symptoms and traits. Despite the fact that removing gluten alone from a
diet does not prove to help the symptoms as claimed. Nevertheless, going gluten free is only
beneficial for those who have celiac disease, gluten sensitivity or a wheatallergy. Countless
members of society do not understand where gluten comes from, they just believe that it is not
good for them. Gluten originated when people began to grow wheat and other grains as
civilizations were created. Our ancient

competitive strategies by which they can make and sell their products and services. One of the
companies that are leveraging technology to sell their services is ActivisionBlizzard, which makes

of which are in the entertainment industry. The success of the company has seen it establish itself
as one of the largest company in the United States and Europe in terms of its market capitalization
and revenue. In an industry that has seen many other companies emerging, Activision Blizzard has
the responsibility of making and adjusting its operational strategies to remain ahead of the
competition. One of the approaches that it can use in the achievement of this important goal is
using a SWOT analysis tool. By doing the SWOT, Activision Blizzard can identify weaknesses and
threats in its operations and device strategies for working on them to remain relevant and
competitive in the market.

What Is Harriet Tubman A Heroic Figure
The soft, quite call of the Whippoorwill, signaling to the slaves that it was safe to come out and
seek freedom with Moses, also known as Harriet Tubman. She was well known for taking slaves
on the Underground Railroad as it was called. Ironically, the railroad was not underground, nor
was it a railroad. Harriet Tubman is seen as a heroic figure by many people for her selflessness
and her courage to go back to the plantations that she once lived on, just to help free other slaves.
Harriet Tubman is a heroic figure because when she became free, she did not run and leave all the
other slaves, she kept on going back to help them. Initially, when Harriet became free, she could
have run to Canada to get away from pursuit and to seek freedom.

Fallacy Of Jonah
It is difficult to pinpoint the dating for the composition of Jonah. Even attempts to locate the book
within the pre exilic, exilic or postexilic period by various scholars have proven to be futile. With
the exception of placing the writing between the eight century and third century BCE, none of the
commentaries under review answers the question of when the book was written. Therefore, neither
will we speculate on this topic. There seem to be no known method that has conclusively proven
when Jonah was written.

It is impossible to determine the intended audience of the book of Jonah without knowing when the
book was written. This is evident by the fact that none of the commentaries directly discusses the

We Real Cool And Gwendolyn Brooks Mother
Gwendolyn Brooks s poems We Real Cool and Mother show that Gwendolyn Brooks writes
about the world she lives in and what she experiences not in her own life, but in the lives of the
people she sees around her. Moving around from school to school as a kid, Brooks was given a
rounded perspective on the racial dynamics of the real world, which she shows in some of her
work.Gwendolyn Brooks captures the life experiences and events of black lives. Brooks
consistently focuses on the struggle of black people, usually associated with the family or in the
events of a hostile environment. In her poems, the people typically experience a great pain.

A Research On Parenting Aspects Of Military Connected...
Methodology We used the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta analyses
Approach (PRISMA) for generating and systematically reviewing and analyzing original published
studies on military families, their children s behaviors, and parenting interventions. Key definitions
and MeSH terms used were military personnel, parent, parenting, child rearing, veteran, and parent
child intervention. Inclusion criteria for this review consisted the study needed to be original
research addressing parenting aspects of military connected families and their children with
preschool children as the part or central focus of the sample, or testing an intervention study that
addressed these concepts. Exclusion criteria consisted of omitting studies of military connected
families without preschool children, and non English language and non US military samples.
After determining the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the terms were entered into PubMed,
CINAHL, Scopus, PsychInfo, Web of Science, and EMbase for the years 2001 2014, yielding
over 11,800 records. Further search within the reference lists and bibliographies of the analyzed
studies and previous review articles on similar subjects revealed two additional studies that were

Ketogenic Diet Side Effects
Ketogenic Diet Side Effects During the first few weeks of adopting a ketogenic diet, you may
experience some side effects as your body transitions from burning glucose for energy (as it s
been doing for decades) to burning fat for energy. This is a transition period where your body
undergoes certain biological adaptions, including an increase in fat breakdown and a reduction in
insulin. When this occurs, your liver will produce large amounts of ketones to supply energy for
your brain. Side effects of the ketogenic diet are usually mild and short lived, and all part of the
healing process. Let s take a look at what you may experience during your transition, so you know

Jacksonian Democrats Dbq Analysis
The Constitution has had many people who were guardians and people who were not throughout
the history of the United States. Reforms and major events under the administration of Jackson
were huge turning points in history. Women were starting to have a voice, property qualifications
died off, and the nullification crisis are examples. Although these reforms make it seem Jacksonian
democrats were guardians, Jacksonian democrats were not guardians of the United States
Constitution, political democracy, individual liberty, and the equality of economic opportunity.
With the dissipating property qualifications, Jackson did little to help others who needed rights
for which the Constitution was created. We hold these truths self evident that all men are created
equal (Doc. A). Yes, it does say all men, but Jackson did nothing to help men who needed it the
most. He did not help men such as blacks and native americans and did nothing about women s
rights. During his presidency, women were petitioning for rights and jobs besides factory workers,
stay at home mothers, and school teachers and yet he did nothing about it. Also, he did not help
workers who wanted labor unions. Instead, he stated that the employer has full control over them
and that it was illegal to form labor unions. Then there is the slaveryissue which no president had yet

Theme Of The Wife Of His Youth
The Wife of His Youth is an 1898 historical fiction short story by author Charles W. Chesnutt.
Charles Chestnutt is the first African American writer to use folklore in series literature. He was
born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 20, 1858, but spent most of his childhood in Fayetteville, North
Carolina. Growing up in the south had a lasting impact on him, in that it furnished rich material for
his fiction. Therefore, it is not surprising that Chestnutt s characters, settings, scenes and institutions
reflect North Carolina s culture. As a creative writer blossoming in the 1880s, Chesnutt believed
that he could use folklore to stem the tide of racist thinking depicted by the plantation school
writers, such as Thomas Nelson Page and others, who wrote of slavery as a benevolent system.
However, by 1905, Chestnutt realized that fiction was not the route to bring America around to
treating African Americans with the same respect as whites. Consequently, with this realization
Chestnutt became a fighter against discrimination with his voice. He made speeches and wrote
essays against all kinds of discrimination (Young). In his short story The Wife of His Youth ,
Chesnutt combines the themes of racial identity and colorism to create the conflict at the center of
the story. The prose introduces the readers to a man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

often interpreted as a sweltering appraisal of strict governments. A dystopian setting often depicts
characters that think technology and/or big government are trustworthy and will always protect
them or save them. A dystopian society is also one that has lost ascetics of a culture, including art,
music, drama, athletics, and/or creative expression. The settings in dystopian novels or stories are
always bleak, oppressive and offer no hope or individual freedoms for the masses. Individuals and

There were about twenty five ELL students in my classroom this past semester, however, I only

Although I didn t work with these students more than once a week, I gained a good enough sense

student during their English time during the day to help the develop their English. One way I
addressed the needs of my students by making flash cards for the vocabulary words that I would
be teaching my students each week. I also adjusted my speech when talking to the students for
when the students were not understanding me, using simpler words. Also at times when my
students were not understanding English, or felt like they were not able to write in English I let
them speak in Spanish between each other to help clarify what was happening and I would let the
students write in Spanish, then tell me what they were saying in English. All lesson I did with

Treatment For Non Compressible Hemorrhages
Current Problems
Hemorrhages, or internal bleeding, account for a large portion of deaths in the world. Hemorrhages
are an extremely life threatening injury that require immediate medical attention. These injuries are
extremely sensitive to the time of injury and the time it takes for surgery to begin. Hemorrhages fall
into two main categories: non compressible and compressible. Compressible hemorrhages can be
treated with external compression, tourniquets, and dressings. Non compressible hemorrhages can
not be treated with these techniques, because the injury is usually deep inside the abdominal part of
the body and either not visible, or not within reach. This makes non compressible hemorrhages
much more challenging to treat.
Current Treatments
Treatment for non compressible hemorrhages depends on the location of the hemorrhage; if the
wound is relatively shallow in the abdominal area and it is possible to reach the site of bleeding,
then gauze and fluid resuscitation may be used. Unfortunately, these techniques are not very
effective over time. If the injury is internal, like an injury to the spleen, liver or retroperitoneal
vasculature, then the only current treatment is emergency surgery. However, most non compressible
hemorrhage injuries occur when medical treatment is not immediately available; transport time to
reach a hospital could take hours, compromising the survival rate of the injured patient.
An ideal treatment for a non compressible hemorrhage would be to

Benefits Of Using Sap For Business
Introduction Systems Applications Products (SAP) is a database propelled business incorporation
software that integrates all prospects of operating enterprise and that is why SAP software is also
known as business integration and predictive software (Bennett, 2013). Business integration
simplifies collaboration from one area or industry level to another, improving data stream within
an enterprise and makes sure that its stream has a straight, progressive influence on business s
productivity (Beyleveld, Schurink, 2005). It also makes better consumer amenity and product
excellence, reduces product time to marketplace and generate more effective supply levels. SAP
improves usual application products for concurrent processing, and the use of this package builds
it likely to trace and direct real time practices, deals, human resources, manufacture, and finance
accounting in a business. SAP has been generally comprised in helping consumers improve the
back office processes by incorporating business developments (Bennett, 2013). Benefits of Using
SAP There are several benefits of using SAP for business, and it delivers techniques that are
contemporary and greatly resourceful. Their backing framework is incomparable in the software
manufacturing (Bennett, 2013). SAP is an assimilated software technique which can integrate all
the modules of a company into one mode by resolving data distributing drawback between units in

Traditional Belief Of Interracial Marriage
Traditionally, people have believed that when a person marries outside of their race, they do so
as a way to escape from their race, culture, or traditional beliefs. In contrast, popular culture
theorizes that interracial marriages are motivated not by a desire to leave behind one s heritage,
but by love between two people who happen to be of different races. In this paper, I seek to
analyze and compare these two perspectives, proposing a theory that combines the two by
accounting for a person s upbringing and beliefs when deciding what their motivation may be. I
first analyze the traditional belief of interracial marriagein comparison to the popular culture belief
and present my theory combining the two. I then analyze the effect of dominant versus
nondominant culture on motivations, and use examples from popular culture to look at the effect a
person s culture and upbringing can have their motivations for marriage. Lastly, I explain how my
perspective will affect the way I live my life.
Interracial marriage has traditionally been viewed as a means of expressing a hatred of oneself,
of escaping something in one s culture or self that one no longer wants to identify with. Jacki
Thompson Rand describes the outcome of this phenomenon in an essay on her experience as the
child of an interracial marriage. She explains how her mother married a white man in an effort to
make herself more white, and therefore more legitimate: My mother s marriage to my father was a

Stories of People before Us
It was many years ago, long before your beloved parents or even their own. It was far past the
time when skyscrapers first began their grazing of the heavens, past even the taking advantage
of devote teachers. Further still, our story takes us. Much like many tales of this sort there is
perhaps little truth weaved in all that serve not as references for literal information but
references for wisdom and understanding. I do not profess that readers who study these tomes
will come out any the wiser, nor is it this tome s sole purpose. Some things in life do not require
purpose nor plan, but moving forward. Before our world, there was perhaps another. In it lived a
single person, a woman perhaps, who ruled over all the animals and plants. She, like most
others, did not enjoy her solitude and decided to design a people to accompany her. So thus,
people came to be. Despite the people, she had no joy. Those she had created were savage,
greedy, and sinful. It displeased her. However, she was merciful and could not bring herself to
destroy them, so instead felt it necessary to guide them. To assist her she created a new type of
people, one who would embody all that she valued. These people would be rulers and would rule
over the other citizens. To form her new rulers she took four traits, agГЎpД“ (unconditional love),
compassion, generosity, trustworthiness, and composed one whom she would entrust with her
people. Carefully she layered a combination of agГЎpД“ trustworthiness

Born on the Fourth of July was a very captivating and powerful film that will have a lasting effect
on me. Oliver Stone, who won the 1989 Best Director Oscar for the film, also wrote, and produced
it. He tells the true story of Ron Kovic, an American kid from Massapequa, Long Island that fought
in the Vietnam War, who is played by Tom Cruise. It also stars Kyra Segwick, Raymond J. Barry,
William Dafoe, and Frank Whaley. This film accurately illustrates not only what went on for the
soldiers fighting in the Vietnam War and the effects that the war had at home, but also the social
attitudes throughout the country during the 1950s and other major movements during the time of

He fully believed everything that was told to him about Communism spreading and how easy it
would be for the Americans to win the war. These beliefs were widespread largely because the
government said that they were true, and people believed almost all of what the government said at
this time. We had emerged as a bipolar superpower after World War II. The other major power in the
world was the Soviet Union, which had a completely different form of government and type of
economy from us: Communism. One of the main ideas behind Communism was that everyone
should be the same, and no one should be ahead of anyone else in life. This was very attractive to
many working class people throughout the planet that were tired of poverty and cruel governments.
Therefore, Communism began to spread which scared Americans and especially the American
government very much. A theory called the domino theory began to spread throughout American
society that claimed that Communism would continue to spread across borders in an outward
direction from the Russian center until it covered the entire planet; that is, unless it was stopped by
an outside force (like the American military). This fear led to the McCarthy Era where something
similar to a witch hunt for communists in America takes place. The few Americans that did not

Religious Literacy Prothero Chapter Summaries
Rebecca McKenney
Introduction to Comparative Religion
Mr. Hyrcza
10 November 2016
Analysis of Religious Literacy In Stephen Prothero s Religious Literacy: What Every American
Needs to Know and Doesn t (New York: Harper Collins Publishers, 2008) 1 372, Prothero
discusses how the American society was once a religiously literate nation, how we became
religiously illiterate, and how (if willing) we can become religiously literate again. Prothero states
that this book argues for both the constitutionality and the necessity of teaching about religion in
public schools and higher education. He further explains that the main goal of this piece is to help
citizens participate fully in social, political, and economic life in a nation and world ... Show more

But his passion is also his downfall. By allowing his piece to be mainly background information,
Prothero can make his audience feel as if he is beating in information into their heads while
losing sight of the original argument. Stylistically, he also provides too many subsections with
rough transitions that can leave the audience to be temporarily confused on where he is going
with his argument. Stephen Prothero s Religious Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know
and Doesn t, can be a difficult read, as there are several passages which require numerous rereads
in order to understand. However, there is an occasional sentence or two that provides an
interesting insight. Stephen Prothero s Religious Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know
and Doesn t, is not suggested for audiences who are easily offended by different viewpoints of
religion. This is also not recommended as a light quick read due the complexity and confusion of
the author s argument.

True Love In Anne Bradstreet s To My Dear And Loving Husband
Anne Bradstreet s poem To My Dear and Loving Husband, the magnificent writer strongly uses
vocabulary, tone, figurative language and imagery to show that the only way true love can be
repaid is by that in heaven. In order to better understand the reasoning behind such writing, it would
benefit to know delicate information on the writer. Anne Bradstreet was born Anne Dudley in 1612
in Northampton shire, England to a nonconformist former soldier of Queen Elizabeth, Thomas
Dudley, who managed the affairs of the Earl of Lincoln. Anne had been well tutored in literature
and history in Greek, Latin, French, Hebrew, as well as English. She married Simon Bradstreet, a
graduate of Cambridge University, at the age of 16. Two years later, Bradstreet, along with her
husband and parents, immigrated to America with the John Winthrop Puritan group, and the
family settled in Ipswich, Massachusetts. There Bradstreet and her husband raised eight children,
and she became one of the first poets to write English verse in the American colonies. It was
during this time that Bradstreet penned many of the poems that would be taken to England by
her brother in law. (Stanford 397) The mother of 8 children and a dynamic speaker, Hutchinson
held prayer meetings where women debated religious and ethical ideas. Her belief that the Holy
Spirit dwells within a justified person and so is not based on the good works necessary for
admission to the church was considered heretical. Bradstreet was concerned with the issues of sin
and redemption, physical and emotional frailty, death and immortality. (Svendsen 64) Much of her
work indicates that she had a difficult time resolving the conflict she experienced between the
pleasures of sensory and familial experience and the promises of heaven. As a Puritan, she
struggled to subdue her attachment to the world, but as a woman she sometimes felt more strongly
connected to her husband, children, and community than to God. (Reid 544) Simon Bradstreet s
(Anne s husband) responsibilities as a magistrate of the colony frequently took him away from
home, and he was very much missed by his wife. Bradstreet s love poems make it clear that she
was deeply attached to her husband. Marriagewas important

about what goes on in this layer. As they entered the third layer of Hell a horrible stinking slush

they must roll giant weights towards one another. The Wasters shout Why do you hoard and the
Hoarders yell Why do you waste . After the weights collide each side gathers their weight and
begin the process again, while they are screaming in pain. Right after Dante and Virgil went
through the battle of hoarder and wasters, Virgil informs Dante that too much time has passed
and they must continue in their journey (Rod Dreher September 21, 2014, 6:40 PM). Dante
agrees with Virgil so they continue their way. As they cross the bank the find a strange fountain
that has dark water flowing out of it down into a crack in the rocks. This water leads into a marsh
called Styx. Dante and Virgil decide to travel through the Styx, because it would make their trip to
the next circle shorter. While they are traveling through Styx Dante realizes that there are souls
trapped inside the mud. As he gets a closer look he notice that the souls are fighting viciously, they
are striking each other with their hands, feet and heads, and are also biting one another. Virgil tells
Dante that the souls where destroyed by anger, and more souls lie beneath the water, creating
bubbles why they cry. Virgil repeats the word that the souls say, but Dante could not understand
what he was saying. The souls said, They should have been happy in the light of the sun, and that

Developing Personal Skills
Developing personal skills
Sexual and reproductive health is promoted in schools and the community in order to develop
personal skills. Various programs have been introduced in schools to provide accurate health
information to young people and enhance their skills in communication and decision making. This
empowers individuals to make their own safe choices and decreases health risks. Information on
sexual health has also been incorporated into the school syllabus, so it is being taught in schools to
the students by teachers. Raising awareness of STIs through media, for the general public, is a
strategy being used to spread information.
The Sexual Health and Relationship Education (Share) program was created by SHine SA, South
Australian Department of Health and the Department of Education and Children s Service in 2006,
involving 15 schools across South Australia. Their aim was to improve the sexual health, safety and
well being of young people in South Australia through an educational program. Although the
program did not result in substantial development of health knowledge, it created stronger family
and community bonds and students felt more confident discussing issues with their parents. The
Share program has now become the Focus Schools Program, which is being delivered in 102
schools across South Australia. There has also an adaptation called the Aboriginal Schools Focus
program which has been specifically implemented for Aboriginal schools.

Science And Technology Of Designing
Nanotechnology, which is one of the new technologies, is the science and technology of
designing, constructing and creating of novel nano scale structure, 1nm to 100 nm in size, with
huger quality, novel performance properties, along with fewer defects compared with those of
the bulk material (Siqueira et al., 2010). An increasing interest from the scientific community to
work with materials in nano metric scale has been observed since the introduction of the concept
of nanotechnology by Richard Feynman in 1959. The last decade has seen advancement in every
side of nanotechnology such as nano particles and powders, nano layers and coats, electrical,
optic and mechanical nano devices, and nano structured biological materials (Bhattacharyya et al.,
2009). Nanoscale structures permit the control of fundamental properties of materials without
changing the materials chemical status (Murphy et al., 2011). There are two general ways
available to produce nano materials, as shown in the following figure 18. The first way is to start
with a bulk material and then break it into smaller pieces using mechanical, chemical or other
form of energy (top down). An opposite approach is to synthesis the material from atomic or
molecular species via chemical reactions, allowing for the precursor particles to grow in size
(bottom up). Both approaches can be done in either gas, liquid, supercritical fluids, solid states, or
in vacuum (Dastjerdi and Montazer, 2010). Figure 18: Illustration of

The Experience Machine By Nozick
Have you ever wished you could have anything you wanted in life? I know I have. I ve always
wanted a world where everything would be to my liking and nothing would be to my
dissatisfaction. Nozick sets up a scenario where we can get a maximum amount of pleasure by
plugging into an experience machine that allows us to undergo anything we wanted while we are
in a tank with electrodes attached to our heads. One will be plugged in for two years at a time but
while one is attached, the experiences are going to seem like they are actually happening. He takes
this machine to disprove the hedonism view that says consciously experiencepleasure is the most
important thing to living a good life. In his opinion he would not plug in because while one is in
the machine, one cannot do certain things, be a certain person or come in contact with reality. I had
never really thought about the option of experiencing anything I wanted versus living a normal life
before, but after reading The Experience Machineby Nozick, I would pick living in a normal life
because even though experiencing anything I wanted would cause as much pleasure as possible, it
limits one to things that are important to humanlife such as being able to physically perform or
experience things and having an impact in society
The experience machine makes one feel like you are actually performing or experiencing the
things one is doing while plugged in but in reality, as Nozick described, you are floating in a tank

15 minutes into it she starts coughing, her face turns red, her lips become swollen and it s
happening again. And once again one nurse after another after another comes in and they give
her oxygen and while this is happening I feel myself ready to faint. I m feeling really
lightheaded and queasy and I think anytime I m just going to drop. (Just what was needed). I get
myself to breathe and maintain and stay upright. Luckily they caught it early so it wasn t like the

Analysis Of The Movie Pearl Harbor
Pearl Harbor Film Review A romantic classic, From Here to Eternity was released in 1953. The
film was directed by Fred Zinnemann and produced by Columbia Pictures. From Here to
Eternity is based on the days prior to Pearl Harbor and the day of in Hawaii. One of the main
characters, Prewitt played by Montgomery Clift, was a private who was abused by the army for
not joining the units boxing team, but choosing to play the bugle instead. Cold hearted Capt.
Holmes was played by Philip Ober. He orders Prewitt to a many unnecessary tasks while his wife,
Deborah Kerr, cheats on him with another Sargent, Burt Lancaster. From Here to Eternity is
historically accurate since it coincides with the material from Richard Overy s Why the Allies
Won and John Jefferies Wartime America. First, the film is historically accurate of the date in
which the Japanese attacked U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. The entire film took place in
Hawaii, USA and it portrayed the attack that occurred on December 7 Japanese aircraft attacked
the American naval base at Pearl Harbor (Overy p.15) The films date was the same as the date
reported in the Overy novel, making a direct factual connection of the event. Secondly Jefferies
book and Fred Zinnemann s film both brought out the significance of marriage in America in
1941. The essential theme in the film is romance and finding someone to marry. Not only was the
consistent idea of new marriages displayed in the movie, but Jefferies book said marriage

Photo Observation
I think this photo is a good representation of space because the small hill in the bottom middle
leads your eye back and everything gets smaller towards the back. I dropped the horizon because
I liked how the skies take up almost half of the top because it shows movement and distance from
one side of the photo to the next. Originally, the photo was very dark so I increased the brightness
and contrast at different levels for the skyand the trees/houses respectively. I added a sepia photo
filter to give a warm effect, and dodged and burned the parts that were hit by the lightand shadowed
by it.
This photo is a very good representation of texture because you can see the different pieces of the
wood and it feels as though you can touch it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I wanted to make the blue gradient in the sky more noticeable so I fixed the hue and saturation of
the sky. I also dodged and burned the skies to make them stand out more. I added an orange photo
filter near where the sunlight diffused around the tree.
This picture best represents rule of thirds because the leaves are not in the middle of the picture,
but rather in the bottom right corner. I like how the leaves frame the sky on the bottom without
covering too much of it. I made the blue in the sky more contrasted and brighter. I also made the
leaves redder and with a paintbrush went over some parts with red to make them a bit brighter.
For this photograph, I had my mom stand under the tree because I really liked how the leaves
contrasted against her and the trees and house in the background. I made her skin softer and
added a layer mask to the leaves and her eyes so they stood out more clearly. I really liked how
the couple leaves in the front were so clear and I liked how the light hit them so I did not change
anything about them. Her pose in this photo gave off a very relaxed vibe. You can tell that she is
thinking of something but her neutral expression makes the photo even more

Employee Remuneration
Chapter I
INTRODUCTION
1. MEANING OF WAGE/ COMPENSATION PAYMENT: Wage is a monetary payment made by
the employer to his employee for the work done or services rendered. It is a monetary
compensation for the services rendered [1]. A worker may be paid Rs. 100 per day or Rs. 4500 per
month. This is wage payment. The worker gives his services and takes payment called wage
payment. Industrial workers are paid remuneration for their services in terms of money called
wage payment. Wages are usually paid in cash at the end of one day, one month or one week.
Money wage is the monetary compensation or price paid by the employer to his employee for the
services rendered. Such compensation is also called wage or salary or reward ... Show more content

This is due to poverty, rising prices, mass unemployment and rising population. Wage payment
indeed a vexatious problem and needs to be tackled from economic, social and humanistic angles.
1.2 CONCEPT OF FAIR WAGES:
Fair wages is the wage which is above the minimum wage but below the living wage. Obviously
the lower limit of the fair wage is the minimum wage and the upper limit is set by the ability of
the industry to pay. Between these two limits, fair wages should depend on the factors like 1.
Prevailing rates of wages in the same occupation 2. Prevailing rates of wages in the same region or
neighbouring areas 3. Employers ability to pay 4. Level of national income and its distribution 5.
Productivity of labour 6. Status enjoyed by the industry in the economy
Hence it can be said that fair wages are determined on industry cum region basis. When fair wages
are paid employees enjoy higher standard of living. It is accepted fact that wages must be fair and
reasonable. Wages is fair when the employee is able to meet its essential needs and enjoy
reasonable standard of living. Equal pay for equal work serves as base of fair wage [4].
1.3 FACTORS INFLUENCING WAGE AND SALARY STRUCTURE [5] The organization s
ability to pay:
Wage increases should be given by those organizations which can afford them. Companies that have
good sales and therefore high profits tend to pay higher wages than those which are

Age Of The Fetus Essay
Introduction The first and foremost thing here in this case study is that the age of the fetus is not
clear at all as it is told that Jessica finds herself pregnant six months before moving to their private
quarters. Later it is told that four months later that they went to the clinic. So there is a natural
doubt when did Jessica and Marco go to hospital for the tests? I proceed in this paper with an
assumption that it is after four months/seventeen weeks of her pregnancythat Jessica went to
hospital.
The Theory / Theories The case is that of fetus abnormality where the fetus is seen in the scan as
deformed or specifically without arms and also a possibility of having Down syndrome. It is true
that the parents don t want such a child in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rarely were the rights of the prospective mother, much less the prospective child, taken into
consideration. Although generally legal, the morality of abortion, birth control and child
abandonment (as a form of infanticide) was sometimes discussed. Then, as now, these
discussions often concerned the nature of man, the existence of a soul, the beginning of life,
and the beginning of human personhood. If a fetus is a person, it is a person in very special
circumstances it exists entirely within the body of another much larger person and usually
cannot be the object of direct action by another person. The position Marco and her wife is not
that clear from the available case study. But the position of Aunt Maria is very clear. She holds
the view or the theory that of the pro life movement. Here the emphasize is on the right of the
embryo or fetus to gestate to term and be born. She is very clear about the status of the fetus as it
is human life and that is to be protected by all means. The fetus has the right to be germinated and
to be born and grow in to its maturity. Nobody has the right to terminate a life that God has created.

Generic And Name Brand Drugs
While recent advancements in modern medicine have turned it into a field of competition
between generic and name brand drugs, these drugs show very slight differences in ability while
they have a large difference in price. The FDA is in charge of overseeing the creation of these
generic and name brand drugs. Too much diversity in their results is unacceptable to FDA so they
keep a close watch on the makeup and effectiveness of the drugs and how they impact the human
body. Along with the differences in their chemical makeups shown by the results of each drug there
are the social issues that accompany the name brand and marketed drugs vs. the generic drugs
which are never advertised and only sold. The idea that and almost identical product... Show more

Both of those companies were under another company called boots who, up until 1986, held the
patent rights to ibuprofen. After 1986 many generic brand labels began to produce ibuprofen. The
rise in generic ibuprofen completely shut out all but one of the name brand producers of ibuprofen
as shown by the disappearance of Nuprin. Generic drugs have destroyed the market for name brand
drugs by being cheaper and just as efficient When a generic drug product is approved, it has met
rigorous standards established by the FDA with respect to identity, strength, quality, purity, and
potency. However, some variability can and does occur during manufacturing, for both brand
name and generic drugs. When a drug, generic or brand name, is mass produced, very small
variations in purity, size, strength, and other parameters are permitted. FDA limits how much
variability is acceptable (FDA). This lack in difference of quality has allowed generic drugs to
out sell many name brand drugs since people understand that what they are buying are practically
the same thing so why would they buy anything more expensive. Generic manufacturers are able
to sell their products for lower prices because they are not required to repeat the costly clinical
trials of new drugs and generally do not pay for costly advertising, marketing, and promotion. In
addition, multiple generic companies are often approved to market a single product; this creates
competition in the market place,

The Effects Of Child Labor On The Chocolate Industry
The Effects of Child Labor in the Chocolate Industry: December 6, 2015, was an important day for
many Americans, as it marked the 150th year since the abolishment of slavery when the U.S.
authorized the 13th Amendment to the Constitution to end what can be described as the darkest
chapter of American history. Many in Western Society seem to be unaware of the contemporary
slavery still plaguing many developing countries, particularly involving children. The 2010
documentary film called The Dark Side of Chocolate explored the modern day slavery that is
occurring within many West African countries, where children are being exploited and trafficked in
order to harvest chocolate. In fact, the United States Department of State estimates that
approximately 109,000 children in the Ivory Coast s cocoa industry work under the worst forms of
child labor (Mustapha, 2010, p.3).
By exploring the use of child labor in the chocolate industry in West Africa, this paper will present
the argument where I will argue that the unethical use of child labor has led to impoverished
families, negative health impacts among children, and has affected economies in West Africa. In
order to overcome this situation, there is a need for enforced policies, government action, and
corporations taking accountability in order to put an end to child labor. The first part of the paper
will discuss how the cocoa industry affects families, the health of child laborers, and the economy,
followed by various

Analysis Of The Millionaire Next Door
The book The Millionaire Next Door was written by Thomas J. Stanley, Ph. D and William D.
Danko this book goes into explaining different stories of how millionaires made their millions and
how they could keep it, the book goes into explaining the difference between a UAW s and PAW s
millionaires and the habits they have in common and don t. The book shows interesting fact on
how simple lifestyle habits can make anyone a millionaire, and how they might live right next door
to you and me.
In The Millionaire Next Door the book goes into looking at different forms of millionaires, not all
millionaire s wear very expensive jewelry, jet set around the world and buy luxury foreign
vehicles this is quite the opposite. In fact, most millionaires spend less than $5,000 on their
watches and most of their occupations include welding contractors, auctioneers, farmers, owners
of mobile homes parks, pest controllers, coin dealers and private contractors. Most millionaires are
blue collar workers, we do have a few that are doctors, lawyers, etc. in the mix. But, blue collar
workers spend about 7% per average per year this includes, they buy cheaper homes, wear
inexpensive suits and drive American made cars, and only a few leases their vehicles, their wife s

45 50 per week and here are seven factors they all live by

Gender Labeling Research Paper
Throughout history, some babies have always been born with ambiguous genitalia, partially
formed sex organs, micro organs, or organs of both sexes. This was either due to deviations in
the anatomical development of the fetus and because of exposure during fetal gestation to
hormones and chemicals. To describe such people, sexologists have gradually begun to use the
more neutral term intersex children or children with developmental sex disorders. However,
various ethical issues come in light as these children grow into adults or when physicians assign a
gender to babies following the traditional view of gender labeling means a happy adjustment in
school, in the family, and in society. Intersex and transsexual labeling especially create problems in
sports where athletes must compete with as female or male. Transgender differs from intersex such
that transgender people feel they live in a body of the wrong gender hence seeking hormone
therapy while intersex have abnormal sex organs. Both kinds of people want the right to choose
their gender and may seek hormones and surgery to do so. One such example is an ophthalmologist
Richard Raskind who underwent surgery to become Rene Richards and competed on the
professional women s tennis circuit creating a huge controversy. Another example is of South
African runner Caster Semenya,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another researcher, Milton Diamond, believed that biology and hormones made gender identity,
not childhood socialization, and hence, became a life long skeptic of John Money s views on the
social construction of gender. Diamond, with other researchers, explained that a fetus s over
exposure to androgens from a mother s unknown tumor will give the child a masculine or
androgynous experience. so he says that although biology may be destiny, it a biology that s part
genes and part what happens to the fetus in

Piaget vs. Vygotsky
The theory of cognitive development is defined as the development of the ability to think and
reason. There are many theorists who have studied cognitive theories and the most famous is Jean
Piaget. Cognitive development covers the physical and emotional stages of a child. The basic
premise for cognitive development is to show the different stages of the development of a child so
you can understand where the child might be in their development. Understanding cognitive
development will better prepare the teacher when it comes to dealing with children and how to
handle situations. The way children learn and mentally grow plays a central role in their learning
process and abilities. When the teacher knows about the development of... Show more content on

The second aspect of his cognitive development is the Zone of Proximal Development. Vygotsky
s idea of a zone of proximal development is the second aspect of his cognitive theory. A zone of
proximal development describes tasks that children have not learned but are capable of learning.
The zone of proximal development contains things that children may not be able to do alone at
the time, but are on the verge of achieving with some assistance. He believes that learning takes
place during the Zone of Proximal Development. Vygotsky felt it was important to work within
the zone proximal development to achieve maximum learning. Another aspect is Scaffolding,
which means providing a child with a great deal of support during the early stages of
development. Scaffolding involves the final piece of Vygotsky s cognitive development theory.
Teachers will be applying both Piaget s and Vugptsky s theories on cognitive development. When
it comes to Piaget s theory a kindergarten teacher would focus more on how the children are
developing and not how the final outcome will be. If the children are given a finger painting
assignment you will want to see how they handle paints and what they are doing. Teachers will also
need to provide learning opportunities that will help them development in each stage. When you are

Old World Wine and New World Wine
Wines in the Old and New World
Xuanyu Liu
San Francisco State University Abstract
The wines are divided into two categories, the old world wine and the new world wine. When
Hugh Johnson came up with his concept of these two worlds, people have started to find out the
differences. Wines are beverages of gods, and people enjoy them and have their own
understanding of wines. The old world wines are traditional while the new world wines are
modern. In this research paper, I will tell the difference(s) between these two worlds wines in
aspects of their natures, cultures, histories, as well as their developments today. Keyword: new

For example, French people respect the spirit of Terroir. They believe the original land, soil,
climate, and varieties of grapes are best represents of the wine and its culture, and the nature
factors are the best to decide and embody the essence of wines. AOC system is the protection and
interpretation of the traditional French winemaking philosophy. If people mix grapes from different
geographical locations, it would be considered as the violation to the wine spirit and culture. If a
wine used non statutory variety of grapes, no matter how beautiful and tasty it was, it could not
become the AOC level. The new world wines have more innovation and reformation in wine styles.
People improve wines in the experiment. They use different varieties of grape and planting
techniques, have the modern brewing philosophy and production organizations. The new world
wines have really new faces, tastes, and qualities. For the New World, there is no heavy history and
heritage; there are less experience bondage and concepts constraints. The legal philosophy
restrictions are almost non existent. Therefore, in the new world wine development, people are
more creative and accept the spirit of the new things. Mechanical picking machines, peeling

Personal Narrative-Immature Team
My sophomore year of highschool I was not very good at baseball. Honestly, the team as a whole
was not very good. We were a young and immature team; we did not have very much success
throughout the year. We actually had a losing record that year at sixteen and twenty four, and that
is embarrassing if you ask me. The entire season was honestly a disappointment because we knew
that we were much better than that, and the next year we would prove that theory true. The next
year the team made a complete 180 degree turn. Although, at the beginning of the season we started
with three straight losses; The season turned for the better quickly.Throughout the year we went on
a ten gamewinning streak. Then we lost one game, and ended the season on a 21 game winning
streak. Including ten straight wins throughout the playoffs. That is a pretty big improvement
compared to only winning 16 games the year before. Our team matured greatly from the year
before; we became less selfish and became a team as a whole. People were willing to do whatever it
took to win; even if... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We went from having a losing record, and not even making the playoffs. To going thirty five and
six, and sweeping the playoffs. Our team chemistry was amazing; the team spent time together
everyday after practice. Whether it was hitting, going to somebody s house and playing games, or
even going out to eat. The team was literally together constantly. Another thing that helped our
team change drastically was that many of us started to work out on our own. We became stronger
and faster; which ultimately lead to us winning more games. We would step off the bus and
intimidate our opponents. We were so much bigger than everybody else. We also bought into what
our coach was preaching to us. We believed that we were better than anybody we played.
Therefore, we went into the game with huge confidence, and in baseball confidence is

The Comparison of Hinduism and Abrahamic Religions
Running Head: The Comparison of Hinduism and Abrahamic Religions
The Comparison of
Hinduism and Abrahamic Religions
By Christa Dunwoody
Abstract
The differences between Hinduism and Abrahamic Religions are many. The primary difference of
beliefs is that Abrahamic Religion believes that there is one God. Hinduism beliefs vary being
Pantheistic, monotheistic and polytheistic it is one of the most complex religions of the world. In
the comparison of Hinduism and Abrahamic Religion differ on their concept of God. Along with
their differences on the concept of God the Hindu s and Abrahamic Religions also differ on their
concept of man s destiny. Finally Hindu s and Abrahamic Religions also differ on their concept of
Salvation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hindus believe that ones circumstances in life are completely determined by his previous
conduct, either in this life or in previous lives. This is called karma. By doing good deeds in this
life, therefore, one can improve his circumstances in the future, especially in future
reincarnations. (BG, p. 9,10) The final goal is to escape or be released from the cycle of
reincarnation. Hindus will seek in life to be set free from birth, death, and rebirth, so that we
exist in a state of pure impersonal being without a physical body. Jews, Christians and Muslims
believe that man has only one life to live. In contradiction to the doctrine of karma, the
Abrahamic religion believe that on earth, men often do not receive fair or just rewards for their
lives they get their reward on judgment day. God will judge all men and declare our eternal
rewards on the basis of our lives, whether we have lived it good or bad. After judgment, men
receive their eternal destinies. The righteous receive eternal life, a state of bliss, in the presence
of God. The wicked receive eternal punishment, suffering and sorrow, separated from God. In the
Abrahamic religion the gift of life is received after we leave the earth, not on the earth. Finally
Hindu s and Abrahamic religions also differ on their concept of Salvation. Hindu s goal is not
salvation but to escape the reincarnation cycle. There are several ways in which this can be done:
perform good deeds, withdraw from the pleasures

Test Anxiety Analysis
The first lecture exam wasn t hard, but my score did not reflect this. I received a 72 percent
because of the issues that I had. Answer changing, not studying enough, and test anxiety are what
caused this test to go bad. But now I know some strategies to help with these problems.
I have severe test anxiety. Whenever I hear the word test I start freaking out. I go into the exam
thinking that I m prepared and going to pass, but during the test, my mind goes completely
blank. And once the test is over I pray that I at least got a C. The West Virginia University
Student Center of Health gave me strategies to help with this. The article that I read told me that
I should study before the day of the test and that on the day of the test I shouldn t. I should only
review my material, just read over it once, because when I try to cram on the day of the exam that
fuels my anxiety and makes me worry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I didn t study as much as I should have. Mostly because studying is boring and I am not motivated
to do. The Oxford Royal Academy says that to make studying more enjoyable and efficient is to
make it creative. Like making mnemonics, flashcards, and turning your notes into lyrics for a song.
Another strategy they recommended was listening to music while you study because it will
stimulate your brain cells. Mozart is one of the artist that the Oxford Royal Academy believed
would help.
In conclusion, although answer changing, not studying enough, and test anxiety are problems
that I will continue to face for the rest of my test taking career, I now know strategies that will
aid me in not being so affected by them. The strategies I learned were to study hard, find creative
ways to study, listen to music while you study, do not cram, skip questions you don t know, and
do not go back and change the answer to questions that you ve already answered. I believe that if I
use these strategies consistently I can get a higher score on the rest of my

What Is Harriet Tubman A Heroic Figure The soft, quite call of the Whippoorwill, signaling to the slaves that it was safe to come out and seek freedom with Moses, also known as Harriet Tubman. She was well known for taking slaves on the Underground Railroad as it was called. Ironically, the railroad was not underground, nor was it a railroad. Charles Chestnutt is the first African American writer to use folklore in series literature. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 20, 1858, but spent most of his childhood in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Growing up in the south had a lasting impact on him, in that it furnished rich material for his fiction. Therefore, it is not surprising that Chestnutt s characters, settings, scenes and institutions reflect North Carolina s culture. As a creative writer blossoming in the 1880s, Chesnutt believed that he could use folklore to stem the tide of racist thinking depicted by the plantation school writers, such as Thomas Nelson Page and others, who wrote of slavery as a benevolent system. However, by 1905, Chestnutt realized that fiction was not the route to bring America around to treating African Americans with the same respect as whites. Consequently, with this realization Chestnutt became a fighter against discrimination with his voice. He made speeches and wrote essays against all kinds of discrimination (Young). • 23. Treatment For Non Compressible Hemorrhages Current Problems Hemorrhages, or internal bleeding, account for a large portion of deaths in the world. Hemorrhages are an extremely life threatening injury that require immediate medical attention. These injuries are extremely sensitive to the time of injury and the time it takes for surgery to begin. Hemorrhages fall into two main categories: non compressible and compressible. Compressible hemorrhages can be treated with external compression, tourniquets, and dressings. Non compressible hemorrhages can not be treated with these techniques, because the injury is usually deep inside the abdominal part of the body and either not visible, or not within reach. This makes non compressible hemorrhages much more challenging to treat. Current Treatments Treatment for non compressible hemorrhages depends on the location of the hemorrhage; if the wound is relatively shallow in the abdominal area and it is possible to reach the site of bleeding, then gauze and fluid resuscitation may be used. Unfortunately, these techniques are not very effective over time. If the injury is internal, like an injury to the spleen, liver or retroperitoneal vasculature, then the only current treatment is emergency surgery. However, most non compressible hemorrhage injuries occur when medical treatment is not immediately available; transport time to reach a hospital could take hours, compromising the survival rate of the injured patient. An ideal treatment for a non compressible hemorrhage would be to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Traditional Belief Of Interracial Marriage Traditionally, people have believed that when a person marries outside of their race, they do so as a way to escape from their race, culture, or traditional beliefs. In contrast, popular culture theorizes that interracial marriages are motivated not by a desire to leave behind one s heritage, but by love between two people who happen to be of different races. In this paper, I seek to analyze and compare these two perspectives, proposing a theory that combines the two by accounting for a person s upbringing and beliefs when deciding what their motivation may be. I first analyze the traditional belief of interracial marriagein comparison to the popular culture belief and present my theory combining the two. I then analyze the effect of dominant versus nondominant culture on motivations, and use examples from popular culture to look at the effect a person s culture and upbringing can have their motivations for marriage. Lastly, I explain how my perspective will affect the way I live my life. Interracial marriage has traditionally been viewed as a means of expressing a hatred of oneself, of escaping something in one s culture or self that one no longer wants to identify with. Jacki Thompson Rand describes the outcome of this phenomenon in an essay on her experience as the child of an interracial marriage. She, like most others, did not enjoy her solitude and decided to design a people to accompany her. So thus, people came to be. Despite the people, she had no joy. Those she had created were savage, greedy, and sinful. It displeased her. However, she was merciful and could not bring herself to destroy them, so instead felt it necessary to guide them. To assist her she created a new type of people, one who would embody all that she valued. These people would be rulers and would rule over the other citizens. True Love In Anne Bradstreet s To My Dear And Loving Husband Anne Bradstreet s poem To My Dear and Loving Husband, the magnificent writer strongly uses vocabulary, tone, figurative language and imagery to show that the only way true love can be repaid is by that in heaven. In order to better understand the reasoning behind such writing, it would benefit to know delicate information on the writer. Anne Bradstreet was born Anne Dudley in 1612 in Northampton shire, England to a nonconformist former soldier of Queen Elizabeth, Thomas Dudley, who managed the affairs of the Earl of Lincoln. Anne had been well tutored in literature and history in Greek, Latin, French, Hebrew, as well as English. She married Simon Bradstreet, a graduate of Cambridge University, at the age of 16. Two years later, Bradstreet, along with her husband and parents, immigrated to America with the John Winthrop Puritan group, and the family settled in Ipswich, Massachusetts. There Bradstreet and her husband raised eight children, and she became one of the first poets to write English verse in the American colonies. It was during this time that Bradstreet penned many of the poems that would be taken to England by her brother in law. (Stanford 397) The mother of 8 children and a dynamic speaker, Hutchinson held prayer meetings where women debated religious and ethical ideas. Her belief that the Holy Spirit dwells within a justified person and so is not based on the good works necessary for admission to the church was considered heretical. Bradstreet was concerned with the issues of sin and redemption, physical and emotional frailty, death and immortality. (Svendsen 64) Much of her work indicates that she had a difficult time resolving the conflict she experienced between the pleasures of sensory and familial experience and the promises of heaven. As a Puritan, she struggled to subdue her attachment to the world, but as a woman she sometimes felt more strongly connected to her husband, children, and community than to God. (Reid 544) Simon Bradstreet s (Anne s husband) responsibilities as a magistrate of the colony frequently took him away from home, and he was very much missed by his wife. • 34. Gluttony In Dante s Inferno In the sixth cantos Dante explains how he travels through the third layer of Hell. After Dante faints in the second layer because of his heavy crying, he wakes up in the third layer of Hell confused on how he got there. Dante learned that this layer of Hell contains all the souls that practiced the sin of gluttony. The word gluttony is defined as being selfish. Whenever they decided to move along on their path through hellDante decided to forget about how he got there and worry about what goes on in this layer. As they entered the third layer of Hell a horrible stinking slush fell from the sky and began to build up on to the ground. Plutus is the mythological god of wealth and riches, and he guard the souls that have been sent to the fourth circle of Hell. Whenever Plutus speaks he could not be understood, and many people believed that he was speaking language known by Satan. After Dante and Virgilrun into Plutus they defeat him like the other beasts in the circles before, and get their first glimpse on the fourth circle. The inhabitants of this circle are Wasters and Hoarders. Their punishment is that they must roll giant weights towards one another. The Wasters shout Why do you hoard and the Hoarders yell Why do you waste . After the weights collide each side gathers their weight and begin the process again, while they are screaming in pain. Right after Dante and Virgil went through the battle of hoarder and wasters, Virgil informs Dante that too much time has passed and they must continue in their journey (Rod Dreher September 21, 2014, 6:40 PM). Dante agrees with Virgil so they continue their way. As they cross the bank the find a strange fountain that has dark water flowing out of it down into a crack in the rocks. This water leads into a marsh called Styx. Dante and Virgil decide to travel through the Styx, because it would make their trip to the next circle shorter. While they are traveling through Styx Dante realizes that there are souls trapped inside the mud. As he gets a closer look he notice that the souls are fighting viciously, they are striking each other with their hands, feet and heads, and are also biting one another. Virgil tells Dante that the souls where destroyed by anger, and more souls lie beneath the water, creating bubbles why they cry. Virgil repeats the word that the souls say, but Dante could not understand what he was saying. The souls said, They should have been happy in the light of the sun, and that they now live sullen forever. Dante and Virgil are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Developing Personal Skills Developing personal skills Sexual and reproductive health is promoted in schools and the community in order to develop personal skills. Various programs have been introduced in schools to provide accurate health information to young people and enhance their skills in communication and decision making. This empowers individuals to make their own safe choices and decreases health risks. Information on sexual health has also been incorporated into the school syllabus, so it is being taught in schools to the students by teachers. Raising awareness of STIs through media, for the general public, is a strategy being used to spread information. The Sexual Health and Relationship Education (Share) program was created by SHine SA, South Australian Department of Health and the Department of Education and Children s Service in 2006, involving 15 schools across South Australia. Their aim was to improve the sexual health, safety and well being of young people in South Australia through an educational program. Although the program did not result in substantial development of health knowledge, it created stronger family and community bonds and students felt more confident discussing issues with their parents. The Share program has now become the Focus Schools Program, which is being delivered in 102 schools across South Australia. There has also an adaptation called the Aboriginal Schools Focus program which has been specifically implemented for Aboriginal schools. Creating supportive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Science And Technology Of Designing Nanotechnology, which is one of the new technologies, is the science and technology of designing, constructing and creating of novel nano scale structure, 1nm to 100 nm in size, with huger quality, novel performance properties, along with fewer defects compared with those of the bulk material (Siqueira et al., 2010). An increasing interest from the scientific community to work with materials in nano metric scale has been observed since the introduction of the concept of nanotechnology by Richard Feynman in 1959. The last decade has seen advancement in every side of nanotechnology such as nano particles and powders, nano layers and coats, electrical, optic and mechanical nano devices, and nano structured biological materials (Bhattacharyya et al., 2009). Nanoscale structures permit the control of fundamental properties of materials without changing the materials chemical status (Murphy et al., 2011). There are two general ways available to produce nano materials, as shown in the following figure 18. The first way is to start with a bulk material and then break it into smaller pieces using mechanical, chemical or other form of energy (top down). An opposite approach is to synthesis the material from atomic or molecular species via chemical reactions, allowing for the precursor particles to grow in size (bottom up). Both approaches can be done in either gas, liquid, supercritical fluids, solid states, or in vacuum (Dastjerdi and Montazer, 2010). Figure 18: Illustration of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Experience Machine By Nozick Have you ever wished you could have anything you wanted in life? I know I have. I ve always wanted a world where everything would be to my liking and nothing would be to my dissatisfaction. Nozick sets up a scenario where we can get a maximum amount of pleasure by plugging into an experience machine that allows us to undergo anything we wanted while we are in a tank with electrodes attached to our heads. One will be plugged in for two years at a time but while one is attached, the experiences are going to seem like they are actually happening. He takes this machine to disprove the hedonism view that says consciously experiencepleasure is the most important thing to living a good life. In his opinion he would not plug in because while one is in the machine, one cannot do certain things, be a certain person or come in contact with reality. I had never really thought about the option of experiencing anything I wanted versus living a normal life before, but after reading The Experience Machineby Nozick, I would pick living in a normal life because even though experiencing anything I wanted would cause as much pleasure as possible, it limits one to things that are important to humanlife such as being able to physically perform or experience things and having an impact in society The experience machine makes one feel like you are actually performing or experiencing the things one is doing while plugged in but in reality, as Nozick described, you are floating in a tank with ... The film was directed by Fred Zinnemann and produced by Columbia Pictures. From Here to Eternity is based on the days prior to Pearl Harbor and the day of in Hawaii. One of the main characters, Prewitt played by Montgomery Clift, was a private who was abused by the army for not joining the units boxing team, but choosing to play the bugle instead. Cold hearted Capt. Holmes was played by Philip Ober. He orders Prewitt to a many unnecessary tasks while his wife, Deborah Kerr, cheats on him with another Sargent, Burt Lancaster. First, the film is historically accurate of the date in which the Japanese attacked U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor. The entire film took place in Hawaii, USA and it portrayed the attack that occurred on December 7 Japanese aircraft attacked the American naval base at Pearl Harbor (Overy p.15) The films date was the same as the date reported in the Overy novel, making a direct factual connection of the event. Obviously the lower limit of the fair wage is the minimum wage and the upper limit is set by the ability of the industry to pay. Between these two limits, fair wages should depend on the factors like 1. Prevailing rates of wages in the same occupation 2. Prevailing rates of wages in the same region or neighbouring areas 3. Employers ability to pay 4. Level of national income and its distribution 5. Productivity of labour 6. Status enjoyed by the industry in the economy Hence it can be said that fair wages are determined on industry cum region basis. When fair wages are paid employees enjoy higher standard of living. It is accepted fact that wages must be fair and reasonable. Wages is fair when the employee is able to meet its essential needs and enjoy reasonable standard of living. Equal pay for equal work serves as base of fair wage [4]. 1.3 FACTORS INFLUENCING WAGE AND SALARY STRUCTURE [5] The organization s ability to pay: Wage increases should be given by those organizations which can afford them. The Effects Of Child Labor On The Chocolate Industry The Effects of Child Labor in the Chocolate Industry: December 6, 2015, was an important day for many Americans, as it marked the 150th year since the abolishment of slavery when the U.S. authorized the 13th Amendment to the Constitution to end what can be described as the darkest chapter of American history. Many in Western Society seem to be unaware of the contemporary slavery still plaguing many developing countries, particularly involving children. The 2010 documentary film called The Dark Side of Chocolate explored the modern day slavery that is occurring within many West African countries, where children are being exploited and trafficked in order to harvest chocolate. In fact, the United States Department of State estimates that approximately 109,000 children in the Ivory Coast s cocoa industry work under the worst forms of child labor (Mustapha, 2010, p.3). By exploring the use of child labor in the chocolate industry in West Africa, this paper will present the argument where I will argue that the unethical use of child labor has led to impoverished families, negative health impacts among children, and has affected economies in West Africa. This was either due to deviations in the anatomical development of the fetus and because of exposure during fetal gestation to hormones and chemicals. To describe such people, sexologists have gradually begun to use the more neutral term intersex children or children with developmental sex disorders. However, various ethical issues come in light as these children grow into adults or when physicians assign a gender to babies following the traditional view of gender labeling means a happy adjustment in school, in the family, and in society. Intersex and transsexual labeling especially create problems in sports where athletes must compete with as female or male. Transgender differs from intersex such that transgender people feel they live in a body of the wrong gender hence seeking hormone therapy while intersex have abnormal sex organs. Both kinds of people want the right to choose their gender and may seek hormones and surgery to do so.
