Limited Liability Corporation and Partnership Paper
Limited Liability Corporation and limited liability partnership are two of several types of structures
that individuals can give thought to forming when starting a business. To form a corporation each
member has limited liability, but the corporation has full liability. Forming a partnership requires
at least two people, which are called partners, and each partner has limited liability. This paper will
describe the roles of Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) and Limited Liability Partnership (LLP).
In addition, the paper will describe under what circumstance one would ... Show more content on

To form a corporation with limited liability, there are no restrictions on the number of members
who can be involved. One member can start the business and investors can become members after
the business has been established. With the guarantee that members potential loss is no more than
what was originally invested. In addition, if an individual decides to dissolve the affiliation, the
transfer of ownership is not difficult because the member only needs to sell his or her stock.
However, the disadvantages are not too severe that one would shy away from the thought of
forming a small business. The circumstance that one should use to form a limited liability
partnership is the individual must be a licensed professional, such as dentist, doctor, accountant, or
lawyer. In addition the formation must be between two or more individuals. Other factors to
consider when making a choice on which structure is better than the other, are financial protection
as well as taxes. The number of potential members or partners is another deciding factor on which
structure is the best choice. Conclusion LLCs and LLPs are business structures which are most
often formed business entities. Each structure has its advantages as well as disadvantages and
potential business owners should weigh the pros and cons of each before making a final decision.

Jack Kerouac s On The Road Essay
Jack Kerouac s On The Road
Jack Kerouac is considered a legend in history as one of America s best and foremost Beat
Generation authors. The term Beat or Beatnic refers to the spontaneous and wandering way of life
for some people during the period of postwar America, that seemed to be induced by jazz and drug
induced visions. On the Road was one such experience of Beatnic lifestyle through the eyes and
heart of Jack Kerouac. It was a time when America was rebuilding after WW I. Describing the
complexity and prosperity of the postwar society was not Karouac s original intent. However, this
book described it a way everyone could visualize. It contained examples and experiences of
common people looking for new and exciting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cassady is the cowboy crashing , is a most accurate example of American society s fascination
with the cowboy lifestyle and how it eventually dwindled. Karouac describes these places and
their short adventures, in a very different but detailed manner according to his perspective. Some
lavish and fun, some corrupt and dangerous, but all very interesting. It describes the environment
of several locations throughout the nation during this period of postwar America with great
accuracy. This is a fantastic, documentary type novel that will leave the reader considerably
more informed about what was happening in society during that era along with a better
understanding of why so many people were drawn to the search of a new frontier.Although they
referred to their journeys as spiritual , Karouac had a difficult time convincing his critics of such
a description. Though they rushed back and forth across the country on the slightest whim,
getting their kicks along the way, their real journey was toward self realization and inner
understanding. They seemed to cross most boundaries, legal and moral, but it was only in hopes
of finding a belief on the other side. On the Road could be considered an American classic along
with such books as Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn , and Scott Fitzgeralds s The Great Gatsby .

Analysis Of Electrospinning Nannofibers
The main technique that will be used during this project is electrospinning nanofibers. The goal of
electrospinning is to produce polymer fibers so that their diameters are much smaller, on a nano
scale size. Electrospinning fibers is a relatively cost effective and simple set up (Pham, 2006) as
shown in Figure 1.
Figure 1: Shows an example set up that contains a syringe, a collector and designates the controlled
variables of applied voltage (V), distance between the tip and the collector, and the flow rate/charge
density, Q (Pham, 2006).
As the name and figure implies, the polymers are exposed to conditions in which charge and
voltage are applied that propel the fiber from the tip and Taylor cone to the collector in a circular
motion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This input is relevant as it is the driver for the jet propulsion system that creates the fibers.
Voltage and the presence of beads has been found to have a proportional relationship in the sense
that if the voltage applied to the system is increased, there is an increase in the presence of beads
(Pham, 2006). The mechanics that cause this relationship is when the voltage is altered, the jet
generated from the tip has a change in volume that causes a change in the of the Taylor cone
(Pham, 2006). Recall that the Taylor cone is the result of the difference of charges between the
applied electric field charge and the surface charges that causes the shape of the fluid to become
a cone as seen in Fig. 2 (Garg, 2011). Furthermore, the flow of the jet is important so that the jet
has the proper amount of time to travel from the tip to the collector. Studies have found that a
slower flow generates thinner diameter fiber as well as less beading (Pham, 2006). Other
parameters such as design of the different components of the system play a role in the quality of
fibers created. These include the characteristics and location of the needle tip and jet collector. Our
goal is to optimize all of the different parameters that are inputted into the system so that the the
presence of the beads will be minimized, so that the integrity of the scaffolds are maintained.
Specific Aims 1: Assessing scaffold sufficiency for nerve

An Article On Lightning Strikes
While reading an article in the National Geographic magazine, I then learned about lightning
strikes. When lightning strikes it produces hundreds of millions of volts this is more electricity
that could be produced by all U.S. generators combined during that instant. However, since the
flash of the lightning is so brief that the electric energy that it strikes would only power a light
bulb for about a month. As a thundercloud fills with air, rising ice crystals collide with falling
hailstones. The ice is then strjpped by the hail strips. The top of the cloud becomes predominantly
positive and the bottom mostly negative, with scattered positive areas at its base. The negative
charges in the lower cloud induce a positive region. Static... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are many physical traits that differ from humans to squids. First of being, one of the
cockeyed squid s eyes is bulging, big, and yellow. However, the other is flat and beady. A
question that is constantly brought up, why is there a difference between the two eyes? In order
for people to be able to truly see what these squids look like, an institution MBARI have been
dropping robotic submarines down to see this cockeyed squid in action. Katie Thomas found in one
of the footages that the squid swims with its left eye angle upward and their tiny right eye angled
downwards. There was another physical difference the left eye was big and bulging, as well as,
yellow. Although the younger squids did not have the yellow color in their eye. Humans eyes
carry pigment in the iris. The squid eye differs in that their yellow pigment is right in the lens.
These squids do not have corneas, so instead the lens stick directly out of the eye. The lens of the
smaller eye is perfectly clear. An interesting fact that I learned was the yellow lenses may help the
squid see prey swimming overhead. Some animals have some sort of camouflage, but the yellow
lenses can help predators help see through that camouflage. Also, an upward allows the squid to
scan for prey that light up to camouflage themselves against the sunlight. The beady, downward
facing eye allows for the squid to see creatures lighting up in the darkness. If

The Public Disclosure Of Information Essay
As per Lindblom, and Dowling, and Pfeffer, the public disclosure of information in spaces like the
annual reports can be made use of by a business to apply legitimation strategies i.e. to elevate the
legitimacy and reduce legitimacy gap. This principle has been adopted by several researchers across
the globe. Through Annual reports a firm can disclose information to offset any previous negative
news or provide information to relevant parties regarding positive features of the organization that
was not known beforehand, awards and recognitions received, initiatives executed etc. Even though
such disclosures might not necessarily mean there has been any real change brought about by the
organization, according to Ashforth and Gibbs (1990), the use of substantive management
techniques might require real, objective change in organizational goals, structures, and procedures
and practices. Consistent with the conclusions of Lindblom and Dowling, and Pfeffer, Hurt (1970)
has deduced that one of the primary functions of accounting as well as accounting reports, is to
legitimate the existence and operation of the business. Such views focus on the strategic nature of
financial statementsand relevant disclosures.
Importance of Internal and External Accountability Effective accountability requires a statement of
goals, transparent decision making and relationships, and honest reporting of resource use and
achievements, which can emphasize the honesty and efficiency with which

Effects Of The First World War On Society
The effects of the first world war on humanity are indisputable in the context of historical
documents. However, what can be easily disputed more than anything are the direct causes of the
war. It has been debated among scholars as to whether the reasons for the war were institutional or
by a select few powerful individuals. There are historians who write about the shared blame among
Western European countries such as Christopher Clark in The Sleepwalkers. On the contrary, there
are many historians who would place the blame for the war on Germanyfor varying reasons. In The
Kaiser and His Court, John Rohl argues that monarchy and religion in Germany helped to spawn
the first world war. His reasoning shows that Germany had a right to expand their power by
handing Austria Hungary a blank check to go to war against Russia and that the ultimatum was
hastily offered to Serbia to protect Germany s political interests. This paper argues that Germany
had the largest role in initiating World War I
because it took a separate path from the rest of Europe
during the twentieth century. The points to be discussed include why Germany introduced the
blank check document, the motives behind the Serbian ultimatum, and the overall religious and
political ideologies which led to the outbreak of the war.
The reasoning behind Germany handing Austria Hungary the blank check can be debated, but it is
most likely because of the political views of Wilhelm II. The assassination of Archduke Franz

Documentaries Have Been Around For Ages. The Genre Is Often
Documentaries have been around for ages. The genre is often based on true events or facts. When
a viewer watches a documentary, they often feel empowered. They feel empowered to either take
action because they support the views of the film, or take action against the film if they do not
agree with the views of the film. While some people turn to the news to find out about social
issues, people also turn to documentaries. In an article talking about documentaries and their
impact, it stated with ever increasing frequency, these films are considered part of a larger effort to
spark debate, mold public opinion, shape policy, and build activist networks (Nisbet 450). Subjects

An article talking about Food Inc. talks about the organization of the film saying, The film is
divided into chapters that focus on different problems relevant to the current food system: diabetes
and obesity, food borne illness, factory farming, genetic engineering, farm worker protection,
pesticides, cloning, environmental impact, and the global food crisis (381 2 Lindenfeld). By
dividing the storyline into different chapters like this, the filmmakers can ensure that they present a
multitude of issues that appeal to a wide number of viewers without getting bogged down on
details that could make people uninterested. Food Inc. is able to give the broad brushstrokes on all
of these topics. If a viewer is interested in learning more about a certain issue, they can do it on their
own time. Another untraditional practice that Food Inc. performed that may go against the norm in
filmmaking is the way it decided to go about the storyline of the documentary. The film practiced
moving back and forth between personal stories and institutional practices ensuring that the film
can deliver important facts while creating a compelling narrative that emotionally engages its
spectators (382). This is a very unique way to present a story line and educate the viewers without
them getting bored. Just hearing the facts about the food industry and what it has done to the
consumers may not get the same response by the viewers than by showing personal stories and

Dissociation Theory Of Hypnosis
What is hypnosis? Hypnosis is when a person is in a highly susceptible state of consciousness
where they are open to suggestion. Typically, it is used to help relax/calm a person, control
/alleviate pain, and recover from whatever they re experiencing. Being susceptible to suggestion
makes it easy to be affected mentally and physically. The hypnotist uses this to guide you or
influence you into a certain situation. When being hypnotized, the subject is in charge and can t be
forced against their will. Which means people can only be hypnotized if they re willing to be.
The Social cognitive theory of hypnosis is a form of role playing where people who are hypnotized
aren t in a different state of consciousness, but are simply acting the way others expect them to in
that situation (Sarbin Coe, 1972). The Dissociation theory of hypnosis is a dissociation of
consciousness where the mind is split in two parts (1991; Hilgard Hilgard, 1994). One part of the
mind is conscious and the other part of the mind is the hidden observer . ... Show more content on

A Treatise On Courtly Love Analysis
The ideas found in Andreas Capellanus A Treatise on Courtly Love have made their mark on the
human psyche since its inception. The treatise defines love as: an inborn suffering proceeding from
the sight and immoderate thought upon the beauty of the other sex, for which cause above all other
things one wishes to embrace the other and, by common assent, in this embrace to fulfill the
commandments of love... (pg. 1). By framing love as an obsessional and insufferable experience,
Capellanus renders those in the midst of worshiping a paramour from afar helpless until their
lovesickness is consummated. Because men and women are programmed to enjoy the act of
making love, the text attempts to contain and formalize love through a systematic explanation of
the private and passionate pursuit of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Francesca strategically utilizes the concept of love, as described by Capellanus, as her alibi. In
her eyes, she is absolved of blame; it was the literature which swept her into a world of love and
passion (this would be equivalent to blaming alcohol for one s actions the other night at the bar).
Francesca s subsequent telling of her placement in hell nonetheless evokes an interesting and
varied interpretation. Despite her sin, perhaps she is hinting at the fact that her brief love affair
will in reality last a lifetime since Paolo will always remain by her side in the second circle of The
Inferno. Conversely, she may be suggesting that her moment of fulfilled passion and desire was
well worth the eternal consequence of displacement and pain. At any rate, what remains true for
Dante, and it is well represented in Inferno, is that the greater one s will is to sin, the deeper into
the hellish abyss they fall. While anoesis is the least willful of sins, it is nevertheless a choice that
caused the lustful to be damned for all

The Book Thief By Marcus Zusak Essay
In the novel The Book Thief written by Marcus Zusak, Max found himself in a situation where the
propaganda that Hitler has set affected his life in many ways. With the help of Liesel s words and
reading and the care that the Hubermanns gave, Max grew stronger and he had the courage to stand

When a Jew shows up at your place of residence in the early hours of the morning, in the very

Disbelief and Paranoia. , The propaganda of Hitler was the most important aspect in the The

cringing while reading the Novel. Before the war, The Nazi s passed laws to effectively get rid of
the Jews Human Rights and basically stripping and restricting them from being human . Max, The
Jewish Fist Fighter , was a victim of the Propaganda and his presence served and reminded me the
vast superiority that the German s had against the Jews during the Holocaust. This made me think
so negatively on the Propaganda that was set against the Jews and completely disagreeing with the
way Hitler was seeing things because of the fact that for Max to be, lucky , lucky meant that his

The Rationality of Probabilities for Actions in Decision...
The Rationality of Probabilities for Actions in Decision Theory
ABSTRACT: Spohn s decision model, an advancement of Fishburn s theory, is valuable for making
explicit the principle used also by other thinkers that any adequate quantitative decision model must
not explicitly or implicitly contain any subjective probabilities for acts. This principle is not used in
the decision theories of Jeffrey or of Luce and Krantz. According to Spohn, this principle is
important because it has effects on the term of action, on Newcomb s problem, and on the theory of
causality and the freedom of the will. On the one hand, I will argue against Spohn with Jeffrey that
the principle has to be given up. On the other, I will try to argue against ... Show more content on

In 1969 Robert Nozick introduced Newcomb s problem to the philosophic community as a
conflict between the principle of expected utility maximization and the principle of dominance.
Nozick s introduction led to a Newcombmania (Levi 1982), because philosophers have decisively
different opinions about the correct solution to this problem. The Newcombmania showed itself
in the development of causal and evidential decision theories and other proposals. Because the
evidential theories (for example Jeffrey 1965, 1983) do not use the principle, they cannot give a
solution to Newcomb s problem in case you accept the principle. The causal theories which use
subjunctive conditionals (for example Lewis 1981) are problematical, because they still have to
provide a logic of subjunctive conditionals, a probability theory for subjunctive conditionals and a
corresponding decision theory. Because Skyrms (1980) causal theory and Kyburg s (1980)
proposal of epistemic vs. stochastic independence also don t use the principle, only Spohn s
solution (1978) to Newcomb s problem is left. This solution which recommends taking both boxes
is valuable for its simplicity in contrast to the theories with subjunctive conditionals. According to
Spohn it is a mistake to use probabilities conditionalized on actions for the results of the prediction,
if the prediction is earlier than the choice. According to Spohn it is right that the

The Gold Of The Bronze Style
In China, bronze was often employed with ritual vessels, and this can be best seen with a
comparison between an eleventh century B.C.E. you vessel and a fourth century hu vessel that
were standard in this time period. These pieces were in high demand during this period from
feudal dignitaries starting during the Shang period. They served the purpose of holding wine for
ritual ceremonies. The hu especially acted as a vessel for diluting wine with water. While the hu
vessel was popular in the Eastern Zhou territory, the you vessel was most frequently used during
the early Western Zhou territory. The you ritual wine vessel was common for its time period as it,

This was common during this period, as they represented as zoomorphic masks, where humans
are made to look like animals. Around the birds, the artist designed geometric images to fill in
the space. In order to separate the images in the background of the you, the artist incorporates
bands. This creates a symmetrical layout of the different images around the vessel, as they
repeat. The animal motifs outside of the background also repeat symmetrically, as you circle the
you. While the hu vessel was made around seven centuries later, it features similar decorations as
the you vessel. The pictorial representations also follow a band structure. Although the majority of
the bands are filled with geometric designs, one band repeats second from the top and second
from the bottom and it features birds. These birds are less naturalistic than ones featured in the
you vessel, but they serve a stylistic purpose. At this time, the hunt is also a characteristic subject
of some bronze vessels of the late Zhou period. Often it is less pictorially handled, as on vessels
with panels of rather geometric, static hunting scenes in low relief silhouette. Here the hunt is
represented with the birds depicted in the bands. This could have acted as a significant reference

when the athlete is familiar with the process well before actually needing to do so. This way
frantic last minute diuretic use can be avoided, as the user should be fully prepared. When

Cell Adhesion Molecules
Introduction
Cells are independent units of life. However, when a cell becomes part of an organism, it becomes
part of a tissue and organ system. Cells in a tissue are joined to each other and to the extracellular
matrix (ECM) by cell junctions. There are three kinds of cell junctions: Occluding junctions,
anchoring junctions and communication junctions. Occluding junctions occur in the epithelium
where the adjacent cells are so tightly sealed together that even small molecules cannot pass.
Communicating junctions allow the exchange of chemical and electrical signals between cells.
Anchoring junctions are the ones which attach a cell either to its neighbor or to the extracellular
matrix. Formation of an anchoring junction requires the cells to stick to each other. Various
molecules mediate adhesion between cells following which the cytoskeleton forms a structure
around them. The anchoring junctions thus formed can be of four types desmosomes,
hemidesmosomes, focal adhesions and adherens junctions. In order for a proper tissue to form, it
is important for the cells of the tissue to bind together. It is equally important to prevent the
invasion and binding of other cells. Thus, cell adhesion has to be specific. This is where the cell
adhesion molecules come into play (Alberts et al. 2002).

Flag Football Research Paper
Many rules are taken into account during flag football games, however, there are certain rules
that serve more significance than others, or are regarded more than others. Usually, depending
on the variation of the game, there are five to 10 players to a side. The game lasts around forty
minutes to one hour, depending on the length of the four quarters the game consists of (quarters
can be different intervals such as ten minutes to fifteen minutes). If there is a tie game, it goes
into overtime, and the first team to score a touch down wins. In terms of legally stopping the
opposing player by pulling off the flag attached to their belt, there are certain rules. Holding up
the player or diving for the flag (leaving their feet) is not permitted. As soon as the flag hits the
ground, or the defender shows the flag to a referee, the play ends. Once a ball gets snapped by the
centre to the quarterback, the first down begins, and the ball is live until it goes out of bounds,

Poaching of Endangered Species
Poaching of Endangered Species
The main reason for animals endangered is the uncontrolled human activity. This quote was stated
on a website called Animal Port. There are many reasons why this statement is true, one of them
are poaching. Poaching occurs out of greed to make money. Although there are several laws to
protect certain animals, this is a horrible act to any animal. Especially for the animals that are
already endangered. Poachers minimizing these animal s numbers for their own pleasure is not
good. People who are against poaching should do what they can to stop this act from escalating, or
there will not be any balance on this world.

Not only people kill animals for money, but for cures as well, superstition stuff. People will crush
down tiger bones and use it to strengthened muscles. Another superstition is that they use the tiger s
penis to make males manlier.
There are laws to protect these animals and try to stop poaching, some laws are more stricter than
others and we should enforce all laws against poaching to be equal in punishment and protection on
every endangered specie. The Endangered Species Act is one of them. The purpose of this act is to
protect and recover imperiled species and the ecosystems upon which they depend. The reason
why the act came into place is because certain animal populations were being lowered every year
and the government were concerned that theses animals were becoming extinct, the main reason
is poaching. Once an animal is on the endangered list, they have special protection from the
government for them. From the website, Defenders of Wildlife, they stated this The Endangered
Species Act provides added benefits to people by maintaining healthy natural systems that
provide us with clean air and water, food, medicines and other products that we all need to live
healthy lives. We owe it to our children and grandchildren to be good stewards of the environment
and leave behind a legacy of protecting endangered species and the special places they call home.

The Role of Binary Linguistic Oppositions in the Context of War
Most novels on war usually perceive only one side in the realm. An author like Timothy Findley
can make a novel less about war but more about the physiological impact on ones mind because of
war. The Wars is a very powerful and disturbing book with plenty of linguistic contexts. Timothy
Findley s Governor General s Award winning novel of the First World War tells the story of
Robert Ross, a young Canadian who enlists himself in the army after the death of his sister,
Rowena. Robert has to cope with challenges of war, and make the transition into manhood and

It grants the reader with the ability to choose which characters should be crowned as mentally
strong or weak according to their actions; it runs in a close relation to the distinction of friend and
enemy, which is another psychological battle that many soldiers encounter during the war.
In the novel, The Wars, Findley frames the distinction of friend and enemy in a manner that is
unavoidable. Similar to sanity and insanity, the deconstruction of friend and enemy becomes
apparent after the physical war comes into play. One of the predominant events containing the
friend and enemy opposition is illustrated when Robert encounters the young German soldier.
The young German soldier was wearing [...] a pair of woollen mittens that had no fingers
(Findley 128). It becomes evident to the readers that the description of the German soldier is in
close relation to one of Robert s friends: Harris. In fact, earlier in the novel, the archivist states,
[...]the men who took your fire(and returned it) wore blue scarves or had grey mittens like your
own (Findley 82). Findley uses these events as critical points in order to get the readers to disrupt
their thought patterns, and question their beliefs of friend and enemy. Although the German soldier

The Between Religion And Music Essay
Music and religion are often intertwined, whether it be religious chanting or hymns used to
worship. However, in the case of Islam, the relationship between religion and music is more
strained, as Islamic law strictly forbids listening to music. However, there is a very strong religious
debate on what constitutes musicas diversion and what is acceptable to use in worship and religious
purposes. There are two concepts in Islamwhich are relevant to this conversation: sama and ghina.
The ghina is the simpler of the two, referring to music and performance associated with secular
art music; this is normally banished. Ghina is the only genre which is referred to as music . The
sama, on the other hand, is more complex. Sama, which literally means listening and thus, includes
the music being listened to (as well as dance as performed by mystic societies) is more complex.
The abundance of writings about the sama is chiefly due to the debate surrounding the legality of
music and dance from a legal, mystical, and religious perspective. Some elements of music have
been categorized as acceptable sama by religious authorities, including Koran cantillation, singing of
unaccompanied hymns, old Bedouin songs, and simple functional folk songs used to mark events
in a community or individual s life, thus considering them to be non music .
Since the beginning of Islam, there has been disagreement on what is to be considered sama, with
religious leaders stances ranging from

Frankenstein Commentary
In order to make the found poem as close to the original as possible, I intended to add in very
few words that were not in chapter five, the chapter I chose to use as the source for my poem. I
also intended to include Gothic elements which were included in the first few lines when I
wrote: It was a dreary night, Dismal and wet, The rain poured from a black and comfortless sky.
I had worked hard. A dark stormy night is a Gothic element as it exhibits the metonymy of
gloom and horror that was present throughout the chapter. The inclusion of this Gothic element
is insightful because it sets the stage for a dark gloomy event soon to occur. The poem was
intended to side with Victor Frankenstein and paint a scary picture of the monster. While I was
compiling the words for the poem from the chapter, I noticed that Victor Frankenstein used so
many words to negatively describe the creature. The words used to for the monster were perfect
so I decided to side against the monster. I had the preconception that in order to advocate for
Victor, I had to use the harshest words to attack the monster. I wrote It became a thing such as
even Dante could not have conceived, the demoniacal corpse to which I had created. Using harsh
words impressed upon the reader a negative view on the monster. Towards the end of the poem I
decided to integrate some drama, suspense, and fear. For example, I wrote:... Show more content on

Dutch And Nigerian Weddings Essay

people that used to live in Nigeria. I have come the conclusion that Dutch and Nigerian weddings
are very different although there might be some similarities. In the paragraphs below I will
elaborate on the similarities and differences.
To start off with, engagement is crucial for a weddingto happen and the first step you take toward
getting married. Traditionally in the Netherlands you propose which means to get down on one

In Dutch weddings it is traditional that both parties share the price evenly. While in Nigeria it is
normal for the wedding to be paid by both families together except for the introduction. The
introduction is an informal meeting of both families. This is different because in the
Netherlands the families would already be very familiar with each other. This is because in the
Netherlands the soon to be married would already be with each other for a long time in which the
families meet. In Nigeria the bride pays for the introduction and the groom can help out with the
cost if he wants to. In the Netherlands the cost is usually pretty much always shared equally. In
Nigeria there is also a tradition of showering the bride in money for good luck. This only happens
in Nigeria and not in the Netherlands in any way. In Nigeria people tend to give money as a gift but
in the Netherlands they usually give presents. (The movie: The Mother of George, the article:

The Little Rock Crisis Essay
The Little Rock Crisis

decision that affects the whole country. Imagine that the decision you made is not very popular
and that you get criticized and scoffed at for it. During the term of each president, there are
many difficult decisions that must be made. Making these types of decisions may be difficult,
but they are necessary to the benefit of the country. President Eisenhower was faced with a very
difficult decision. While facing his decision he wanted to uphold the Constitution and the laws,
but also avoid a difficult confrontation with people who had very high emotions. Eisenhower did
not want to be criticized by those who felt he did not ensure civil rights, as well as those who
believed he had gone too far in asserting federal power over the states. The difficult decision that
Eisenhower faced to send in Federal Troops to Little Rock, Arkansas showed his support for the
Constitution, and for the protection of the people, even though it was not popular and went against
his own personal beliefs.

1953, President Eisenhower had appointed former California Governor Earl Warrento Chief Justice

The Ability Of Overcome Degenerative Policy Making Is...
The ability to overcome degenerative policy making is through policy analysis which deconstructs
policy designs in order to expose degenerative characteristics and deceptions (Schneider Ingram
1997). Public policy needs to be inclusive and should provide a clear vision of possibilities,
explanations of how and why antidemocratic elements are embedded in policydesigns, and
interpretations of how designs impact democratic life (Schneider Ingram 1997, 207). According to
Stone (2011), knowledge tools reduce the need for coercive action or force because in the rational
model, information will resolve conflict between actual behavior and desired behavior.
Providing knowledge or educating make it unnecessary to incentivize or sanction the target in
order to elicit the desired behavior. Instead, lack of information or capacity is the primary barrier,
and once the appropriate information is relayed to the target, the desired behavior will follow
(Schneider Ingram, 1997; Stone, 2011). However, people use a variety of strategies to help their
interests and political goals. Critics of rational choice theory contend that people act largely
according to prior attitudes and beliefs rather than new information (Stone, 2011, p. 314). One must
be aware of human and social behavior if they are to try and analyze policy.
Schneider Ingram (1997) identify some general principles (203 206) to look for during policy
analysis. Target groups should be constructed across the lines of

Hip Hop Culture By Fernando Orejuela Summary
This paper seeks to examine the different dimensions of hip hop, and what the hip hop culture
means to different people. After reading Fernando Orejuela s Rap and Hip Hop Culture, one would
get a better understanding of the various dimensions of the hip hop culture. For instance, there is a
cultural dimensionthat has played a tremendous role in the hip hop culture. Many of the modern
styles of dancing and music have come from traditions that were passed down. According to
Orejuela, this is in part because of slavery (Orejuela, 5). Hip hop culture has its roots in the
spread of African and Latino peoples from their original homes to the Americas , states Orejuela
(Orejuela, 5). Orejuela goes on to later discuss exactly how their customs have influenced this hip
hop culture. An example of this is when Orejuela states, Many influences, from Africa and Europe,
have been combined to form a number of popular dance forms that themselves can be seen as
ancestors of b boying and breakdancing (Orejuela, 26). From this, it is clear that culture is of
importance in hip hop. Although this is true, there are also other dimensions that have influenced
this culture as well.
Another dimension of the hip hop culture discussed in Orejuela s book, is the recreational
dimension. According to Orejuela, this dimension of hip hop was influenced by many street gangs.
Orejuela goes into extensive detail on the subject of gangs throughout the early years of hip hop.
Much of his discussion focused

A Study On Seismic Wave
CHAPTER 2
REVIEW OF LITRETURE
2.1 Introduction
Most of today s producing naturally fractured reservoirs were discovered accidentally, they were
found by somebody who are looking for some other type of reservoir. Significant volume of
hydrocarbon resides in these reservoirs. But these are abandoned particularly in fields because
improper testing and evolution or because the wells did not intersect the natural fractures (Aguilera,
1998). Attempts have been made to quantify properties of such reservoir (Chaki et al., 2014). It has
been long recognized that the presence of naturally occurring fracture network can lead to
unpredictable heterogeneity and anisotropy within many reservoirs. In past geophysicists acquired
and processed P wave reflection data at short offset, which automatically implied relatively small
angular ray coverage. So seismic anisotropy, which is defined as directional dependence of elastic
properties of earth remains unnoticed. But with the advance of methodologies, acquiring long
offset and multi component data become feasible and cost effective, anisotropy showed up. Seismic
wave propagation in heterogeneous medium is discussed by Chabak et al., 2012. On a smaller
scale, stresses in the Earth can cause rock to fracture in a consistent manner. If these fractures are
aligned, the rock will be anisotropic with the fast direction parallel to the fractures and the slow
direction perpendicular to them. In ideal cases, these observations can provide

What is the first thing that pops into your head when you think of the story of Jonah? Most

The Importance Of Formative Assessment
A formative assessment is a planned process in which assessment elicited evidence of students
status is used by teachers to adjust their ongoing instructional procedures or by students to adjust
their current learning tactics. (Popham, 2017) A teacher focuses on their students by evaluating
their learning to be able to give the students a framework for a grade on a specific subject. This
evaluation, or assessment, helps a teacher come to a result on if the student has mastered a specific
skill or subject concept. There are two types of assessments, the summative assessments are
conducted after a unit or certain time period to determine how much learning has taken place and
what progress the students have achieved. Formative assessmentis intended to modify teaching and
learning in order to find the best strategy or alternative strategies to help students become better
learners and to help teachers improve their instruction for sure student success. Though it is
important to use the assessments for grades and deciding where that student is at educationally,
teachers really need to remind themselves and focus on using the formative assessment for learning.
Teachers who use formative assessment is able to deliver a learning target instruction that addresses
the appropriate unit requirements, with this, teachers do not wait until a test or essay to decide on
whether their students have succeeded in mastering the subject or if a plan of review will be
needed; teachers

these were in no short supply either. At this time, no event may have been worse than the

Yes, actually a happy ending is portrayed in both the original myth and movie, but are very
different. In the original myth Hercules died as a result of a poison, and after having burned in the
funeral pyre, he obtained immortality (Greek Mythology). He may have died, but if he did not die
he would not have become an immortal. After becoming an immortal Hercules married a
women named Hebe. Hebe was actually the daughter of Hera, the women who tried to kill
Hercules. Along with getting married he had a child in Olympus where he started to live the life
of an immortal. Though he did end with becoming immortal and getting married this is probably
not the ideal ending for Disney, because instead Disney only used half of the original myth and
even changed some of that. When I say they used half of the myth I am referring to how
Hercules ended up falling in love with Meg and lived happily, but it was with actually with
Hebe. The other half of the ending is when Hercules chose to be with Meg instead of staying
immortal, because due to his decision he became a mortal. When Hercules decided to be a mortal
he also chose love. I think that with including that Hercules chose love over eternal life he gives a
good message for everyone. My guess is that Disney decided that having the message that when

Additionally, Willy is trapped in his own dream world of thinking that everyone must worship him,
which all cause a terrible father son relationship. Throughout the play, he continously fails to meet
the fragile needs of his sons, providing no strong connection. If a child does not have a basic
connection with anyone, especially their parents, in the beginning of their lives, they struggle later
on in life, harshly impacting their ability to function around other people. A parent guides their
child, showing them right from wrong and preps them for adulthood, or at least that is what they
are supposed to do. Without this the child is lost and must teach themselve and learn through
experience, which no person of such a young age should have to go through. With professional help,
the Loman family could be helped. Thankfully, in the present day, there are organizations that help

Dance Team Philosophies
Since I have been in this class I have gotten the opportunity to hear about many different directing
styles and team philosophies. This semester I got a chance to listen to Abby Payne, Tracey
Anderson, and Kellie Jackson Jandt. From listening to their experiences and drawing back on my
own experiences I have learned a lot about how I would want to lead my team. Abby Payne at Lake
Travis High Schoolclaims her team is all about the show. They do football, contest, and spring show
but spring show is the team s favorite. One thing that seemed unique about her team is that they
devote an entire group or the Elite team to preparing the dancers who want to dancecollegiately.
This is a great idea when you are in an area like Lake Travis because those dancers work hard in
both academics and dance so they are more likely to attend prestigious schools that have excellent
dance teams. It is a wonderful that Abby is taking steps to set them up for success in their future.
Another thing that is interesting to me is that Abby encourages them to be in other organizations
and to involve themselves in other things besides dance team so they can build their resumes. From
my experience a lot of directors prefer their dancers keep the dance team as the number one priority
and to not make too many other time commitments that take away from their devotion to the team.
It s very generous of Abby to allow the kids to take these opportunities to further prepare them for
their future. The thing

Analysis Of The Great Wave Off Kanagawa
The Great Wave off Kanagawa; the Wave that Swept the Western World
Almost instantaneously recognizable, The Great Wave off Kanagawa (woodblock, 10 1/8 x 14
15/16 in, c. 1830 32), created by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai in 1830, beautifully captures
the graceful, swelling movement of a crashing tsunami. Because of the way in which line and
proportion are utilized, this woodblock print gracefully portrays the sheer power of the ocean.
Derived from the Edo period in nineteenth century Japan, this classic was the first of a series of
works from Hokusai titled Thirty six views of Mount Fuji, all of which effortlessly depict the
mountain in a wide array of angles and scenery. Arguably, The Great Wave off Kanagawa is the
most iconic and cherished piece of Japanese artwork in the world. Even more importantly,
Hokusai is considered a prominent father figure for both Japanese art, as well as Western
modernization as a whole. The Great Wave truly displays how tiny and weak man is compared to
the force of nature. Not only is The Great Wave a quintessential piece of art, but it established a
piece in the comprehensive networks of art, trade, and politics, that has instilled a tremendous
positive impact in the Western world. Created solely from the vivid imagination of Hokusai, the
primary compositional focus of this simple, but deceptively dynamic print, is the massive deep
blue and white wave located in the left foreground of the work. Its detailed, curling white caps

In the Presidential Election of 1824, Andrew Jackson the people s choice lost the ballot by way of
a corrupt bargain in the House of Representatives. Four years later and with the backing of a larger
political following, Jackson became president, campaigning to the middle class and offering the
opportunities of a benevolent democracy. Jackson s supporters, the Jacksonians, were as diverse as
they were numerous; northern farmers, southern and western yeomen, and even urban immigrants
all joined the ranks of the Champion of the Common Man (OI). During Andrew Jackson s two
terms, the state of Jacksonian Democracy that took form upheld the principles of equality and
majority rule that bound the United States together politically, economically and socially. During
the 1820s and 1830s, Jacksonians served as guardians of the Constitution and equality of economic
opportunity, and functioned as a catalyst for popular sovereignty, but sacrificed some individual
liberties to advance the political democracy in the union. As President, Andrew Jackson strictly
adhered to the guidelines set in the Constitution to uphold the union. In 1830, Andrew Jackson
vetoed the bill, passed in Congress, which pushed for a federally funded road system to be
developed in Kentucky (OI). To defend this denial, Jackson abided by the Constitution s declaration
that intra state internal improvements are to be funded by the states, not the federal government.

Analysis Of The Return Of Martin Guerre
Natalie Zemon Davis The Return of Martin Guerre depicts the peculiar historical life behind the
trial of Martin Guerre and his wife Bertrande de Rols, whose lives were infiltrated by the imposter,
Arnaud du Tilh. Taken place in Languedoc, France, the life of Martin Guerre a young peasant man,
in which his abandonment of his flourishing farm and lifestyle in the village of Artigat, created the
historical trial of impersonating lies, held to justify the innocence of one s word against another. In
the visual effects of the filmographic film The Return of Martin Guerredirected by Daniel Vigne;
visualizes the historical story of Davis work into the world of cinema. In the time span of two hours
and three minutes, the viewer is presented with the mysterious revelation of the identity of Bertrand
s husbandMartin. While both the film and the book uncover the identity of Martin and his imposter,
Arnaud, the representations of the uprising allegations against Arnaud in the film are in fact not
equivalent to that of the book. Throughout the film, it showcased Bertrande as of a victim of
Arnaud s duplicity, viewing her as a pure wife who was caught in the lies. Rather than playing the
victim, in the book she consorts a dishonest marriagewithin a period in which women were
consigned to subordinate positions, holding the most important voice in the rising of allegations
against Martin Guerre.
In the film, we meet a young Bertrande de Rols who with the abandonment of her husband

William Henry Harrison Is Not The Most Well Known President
William Henry Harrison is not the most well known President because of his extremely short
term in office before his untimely death. Before he was elected President of the United States
however, Harrison was not only the Governor of the Indiana Territory, he was also a Major
General in the Continental Army. One of the largest reasons for his successful campaign for
President was his prowess as a military tactician and his expert use of the mission command system.
During the famous Battle of Tippecanoe, Governor Harrison demonstrated excellent mission
command through his use of the six doctrinal tenants and decisively won the battle for American
colonials, thus creating the ability to continue expansion westward and weakening British... Show

Commanders continuously develop, test, and update their understanding throughout the conduct of
operations. They actively collaborate with other commanders, the staff, and unified action partners,
to create a shared understanding. Understanding the mission is a crucial step to start the military
decision making process because not understanding the task at hand will create blurred vision of
the commander s intent for any given mission. As Governor of the Indiana Territory, Harrison
understood that the treaties with the Native Confederacy were extremely fragile. As Tecumseh
and his brother s efforts to demean the treaties value continued, Governor Harrison realized that a
conflict was inevitable inside his territory. Harrison suggested, as a means to prevent war, that the
calamity might be avoided by marching a considerable force up the Wabash and dispersing the
banditti the Prophet had collected. With the idea of preemptive attack firmly planted in his head,
he sowed the seeds for the eventual battle that later ensued. Harrison also had received intelligence
that the great Native leader Tecumseh was recruiting more warriors to his cause, which furthered
the fear that the Natives would grow stronger and eventually raid the settlers to take back some of
the lands ceded from them. This intelligence furthered the idea to Harrison that he needed to field
an army and quell the Native rebellion before it got too out of hand. The

The price has been rising, not simply due to the price of coffee itself, but because of the supply
chain and the current economic situation around the world. Last year Starbucks had to raise
prices globally, but especially in the United States and China, due to rising prices for coffee and
other ingredients, but this year they are taking the hit from the rising coffee prices for the
consumers (Baertlein, 2011). Although the prices of coffee had to be raised globally due to the
high demand of the product and the cost of producing it, there is still a strong outlook for the
coffee industry because of the large consumer base of the industry. The coffee industry is
expected to continue growing through at least the year 2015 and even longer in other emerging
markets around the world (Lingle, 2007). Even if the market in the United States begins to
decline, there are other emerging markets for the specialty coffee industry. Due to Brazil s rising
economy, it is set to be the biggest coffee drinking country in the world with recent coffee
consumer growth of 39% from 2000 to 2009 (Murphy, 2011). With Brazil s upper and middle
classes expanding, it has more money to spend on specialty coffee and other superfluous items.

The Day Of The Big Game
All it Took was Seconds It was just me and him, we did everything together. After my mom left
us, it was just me and him. He took care of me. He brought me to my friends house. He signed
the papers of the tests I failed. It was just me and him. And I was happy with it like this. Dad!
Hurry up we re gonna be late! I yelled with a frustrated look. Okay, Okay my dad responded
rushing down the stairs while pulling over his shirt, Don t worry, we will make it there just on
time, like we always do. He grabbed the keys and we ran to the car. It was the one day of the
week that me and my dad, Mike, loved the most... game day. Are you ready for the big game
today? I know you and the team have been waiting a while to win the championship... Show more

Let s hope we don t get stuck at the gym. When we look at each other, for that split second, we
both have our heads turned to each other. We only focused on each others wide smiles that
crossed our faces. But all it took was seconds. Just seconds to see a big Honda coming full speed
at us and slipping on a large piece of ice. In just those seconds, everything went black. I woke
quickly after, to the snow hitting my face and freezing it. I was not where I last remembered,
smiling with my dad, but on the ground, about five feet from the car that I was once in. As I
attempt to move my body, all I see is the white small Toyota vehicle I was once in, flipped over
on the side of the road, with flames bursting out of its sides. And the big Honda pilot in the
middle of the road on its side. However, my dad was nowhere to be seen. Out of nowhere, I see
flashing red and blue lights coming at me. The light burned my eyes, I had to just lay there and
wait. I then looked down at my body, covered in burns, rashes, bruises, and aches. I couldn t bare
to look. As paramedics flooded the area, worry struck over me. I noticed that my dad and the
other driver were nowhere in sight. What if something bad happened, what if he s... he s, dead.
With this in mind, I felt nauseous, the thoughts in my head were banging from side to side. Loud
noised were filling my brain. People crowded me.

Willy Loman In Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
Roman fabulist, Phaedrus, once wrote, Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance
deceives many... Truthfully, one cannot properly understand a person. Generally, people have
preconceived ideas and will make erroneous assumptions about others. It is difficult for some to see
through a fictitious exterior that one might fabricate. For example, in Death of a Salesman, the
characters view of Willy Loman drastically changes over the course of the play. In the Death of a
Salesman, Arthur Miller exploits the audiences view of Willy s character throughout the play via his
interactions with others.
To start, Willy is first characterized as a successful, esteemed salesman. Willy would frequently
tell Biff and Happy of the admiration others had for him; for example, Willy informed his boys
of how he met the Mayor of Providence for coffee. When the boys were young Willy would
often mention his success any chance he got. Therefore, as children, Biff and Happy adopted
their father as a notable role model. Because of Willy s remarks, the boys viewed their father as
a very successful, well respected businessman. For instance, Willy told them, I never have to
wait to see a buyer....I go right through (Miller 21). Willy s incessant speeches of his success only
reinforced the flawless persona he had created. Willy had a tendency to exaggerate his mediocre
sales and success. The boys sole perspective of their father were the fictitious stories he told. In the

Close Memory
Take your Memory out of the Closet As some important exams approach, most of us will be
looking forward to have better memory. If we can read all assignments in one time and then we
can memory all of them, we should get a good grade easily. However, scanning like a machine is
impossible so we consider how to improve our process, which memorize something in a short time.
In this passage, it gives us much information of memoryin order to let us find some useful learning
ways. At first, we need to know what is memory. When we study at school, most of the teachers
will demonstrate memory as computer. They always ask us not to memorize all of the things
instead of understanding the knowledge because memory is kind of space. If we put much focus...

It is important to get prepare for more tests in a short time. More importantly, we need to know
what is the best learning way for ourselves. People will have different senses, while they look at
different things. There are four ways to study, which are visual, aural, read and write and
kinesthetic. For me, I always prefer read and write. In lecture, I write down some important
points and organize them after class. It will help me review the knowledge and make a clear
form to view all the concepts. Also, notebook is convenient to carry everywhere so I can review it
in my free time. Before we consider the suitable learning way, we should test it through our

Fidel Castro Influence On Cuban Car Culture
Imagine a world without spare parts, without updated manuals, and without new cars. Instead of
your parents handing down cloths, dishes, and silverware to you they give you a car that s been
in the family for generations. Here in the United States of America, we take out automobiles for
granted. If something makes a funny sound, starts smelling, or breaks; people generally take the
car to a mechanic or order the parts and put them on themselves. The people of Cuba don t have
such luxury. The automotive culture between Cuba and the US has grown vastly different over
time; two races of people separated for years. Cuban car culture was initially influenced by the US
but evolved into a very different culture as time went on and governments changed.... Show more

A check engine light comes on, you slide off and hit a snow bank, the car doesn t want to start, or

job is too difficult I ll take it to a service center and have them fix it. People in the United States
spend a lot of money keeping cars on the road. If a car is beyond repair, a person can usually
quickly find a suitable replacement. In the case of people who enjoy modifying their cars, like
me, we spend lots of money on ways of making our car faster, lighter, louder, or nicer looking. The

Fin 419 Limited Liability Corporation Limited Liability Corporation and Partnership FIN419 Finance for Decision Making Date Instructor s name Limited Liability Corporation and Partnership Paper Limited Liability Corporation and limited liability partnership are two of several types of structures that individuals can give thought to forming when starting a business. To form a corporation each member has limited liability, but the corporation has full liability. Forming a partnership requires at least two people, which are called partners, and each partner has limited liability. This paper will describe the roles of Limited Liability Corporation (LLC) and Limited Liability Partnership (LLP). In addition, the paper will describe under what circumstance one would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To form a corporation with limited liability, there are no restrictions on the number of members who can be involved. One member can start the business and investors can become members after the business has been established. With the guarantee that members potential loss is no more than what was originally invested. In addition, if an individual decides to dissolve the affiliation, the transfer of ownership is not difficult because the member only needs to sell his or her stock. However, the disadvantages are not too severe that one would shy away from the thought of forming a small business. The circumstance that one should use to form a limited liability partnership is the individual must be a licensed professional, such as dentist, doctor, accountant, or lawyer. In addition the formation must be between two or more individuals. Other factors to consider when making a choice on which structure is better than the other, are financial protection as well as taxes. The number of potential members or partners is another deciding factor on which structure is the best choice. Conclusion LLCs and LLPs are business structures which are most often formed business entities. Each structure has its advantages as well as disadvantages and potential business owners should weigh the pros and cons of each before making a final decision. • 3. Jack Kerouac s On The Road Essay Jack Kerouac s On The Road Jack Kerouac is considered a legend in history as one of America s best and foremost Beat Generation authors. The term Beat or Beatnic refers to the spontaneous and wandering way of life for some people during the period of postwar America, that seemed to be induced by jazz and drug induced visions. On the Road was one such experience of Beatnic lifestyle through the eyes and heart of Jack Kerouac. It was a time when America was rebuilding after WW I. Describing the complexity and prosperity of the postwar society was not Karouac s original intent. However, this book described it a way everyone could visualize. It contained examples and experiences of common people looking for new and exciting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cassady is the cowboy crashing , is a most accurate example of American society s fascination with the cowboy lifestyle and how it eventually dwindled. Karouac describes these places and their short adventures, in a very different but detailed manner according to his perspective. Some lavish and fun, some corrupt and dangerous, but all very interesting. It describes the environment of several locations throughout the nation during this period of postwar America with great accuracy. This is a fantastic, documentary type novel that will leave the reader considerably more informed about what was happening in society during that era along with a better understanding of why so many people were drawn to the search of a new frontier.Although they referred to their journeys as spiritual , Karouac had a difficult time convincing his critics of such a description. Though they rushed back and forth across the country on the slightest whim, getting their kicks along the way, their real journey was toward self realization and inner understanding. They seemed to cross most boundaries, legal and moral, but it was only in hopes of finding a belief on the other side. On the Road could be considered an American classic along with such books as Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn , and Scott Fitzgeralds s The Great Gatsby . These are great novels ... • 4. Analysis Of Electrospinning Nannofibers The main technique that will be used during this project is electrospinning nanofibers. The goal of electrospinning is to produce polymer fibers so that their diameters are much smaller, on a nano scale size. Electrospinning fibers is a relatively cost effective and simple set up (Pham, 2006) as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1: Shows an example set up that contains a syringe, a collector and designates the controlled variables of applied voltage (V), distance between the tip and the collector, and the flow rate/charge density, Q (Pham, 2006). As the name and figure implies, the polymers are exposed to conditions in which charge and voltage are applied that propel the fiber from the tip and Taylor cone to the collector in a circular motion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This input is relevant as it is the driver for the jet propulsion system that creates the fibers. Voltage and the presence of beads has been found to have a proportional relationship in the sense that if the voltage applied to the system is increased, there is an increase in the presence of beads (Pham, 2006). The mechanics that cause this relationship is when the voltage is altered, the jet generated from the tip has a change in volume that causes a change in the of the Taylor cone (Pham, 2006). Recall that the Taylor cone is the result of the difference of charges between the applied electric field charge and the surface charges that causes the shape of the fluid to become a cone as seen in Fig. 2 (Garg, 2011). Furthermore, the flow of the jet is important so that the jet has the proper amount of time to travel from the tip to the collector. Studies have found that a slower flow generates thinner diameter fiber as well as less beading (Pham, 2006). Other parameters such as design of the different components of the system play a role in the quality of fibers created. These include the characteristics and location of the needle tip and jet collector. Our goal is to optimize all of the different parameters that are inputted into the system so that the the presence of the beads will be minimized, so that the integrity of the scaffolds are maintained. Specific Aims 1: Assessing scaffold sufficiency for nerve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. An Article On Lightning Strikes While reading an article in the National Geographic magazine, I then learned about lightning strikes. When lightning strikes it produces hundreds of millions of volts this is more electricity that could be produced by all U.S. generators combined during that instant. However, since the flash of the lightning is so brief that the electric energy that it strikes would only power a light bulb for about a month. As a thundercloud fills with air, rising ice crystals collide with falling hailstones. The ice is then strjpped by the hail strips. The top of the cloud becomes predominantly positive and the bottom mostly negative, with scattered positive areas at its base. The negative charges in the lower cloud induce a positive region. Static... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many physical traits that differ from humans to squids. First of being, one of the cockeyed squid s eyes is bulging, big, and yellow. However, the other is flat and beady. A question that is constantly brought up, why is there a difference between the two eyes? In order for people to be able to truly see what these squids look like, an institution MBARI have been dropping robotic submarines down to see this cockeyed squid in action. Katie Thomas found in one of the footages that the squid swims with its left eye angle upward and their tiny right eye angled downwards. There was another physical difference the left eye was big and bulging, as well as, yellow. Although the younger squids did not have the yellow color in their eye. Humans eyes carry pigment in the iris. The squid eye differs in that their yellow pigment is right in the lens. These squids do not have corneas, so instead the lens stick directly out of the eye. The lens of the smaller eye is perfectly clear. An interesting fact that I learned was the yellow lenses may help the squid see prey swimming overhead. Some animals have some sort of camouflage, but the yellow lenses can help predators help see through that camouflage. Also, an upward allows the squid to scan for prey that light up to camouflage themselves against the sunlight. The beady, downward facing eye allows for the squid to see creatures lighting up in the darkness. If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Public Disclosure Of Information Essay As per Lindblom, and Dowling, and Pfeffer, the public disclosure of information in spaces like the annual reports can be made use of by a business to apply legitimation strategies i.e. to elevate the legitimacy and reduce legitimacy gap. This principle has been adopted by several researchers across the globe. Through Annual reports a firm can disclose information to offset any previous negative news or provide information to relevant parties regarding positive features of the organization that was not known beforehand, awards and recognitions received, initiatives executed etc. Even though such disclosures might not necessarily mean there has been any real change brought about by the organization, according to Ashforth and Gibbs (1990), the use of substantive management techniques might require real, objective change in organizational goals, structures, and procedures and practices. Consistent with the conclusions of Lindblom and Dowling, and Pfeffer, Hurt (1970) has deduced that one of the primary functions of accounting as well as accounting reports, is to legitimate the existence and operation of the business. Such views focus on the strategic nature of financial statementsand relevant disclosures. Importance of Internal and External Accountability Effective accountability requires a statement of goals, transparent decision making and relationships, and honest reporting of resource use and achievements, which can emphasize the honesty and efficiency with which ... • 7. Effects Of The First World War On Society The effects of the first world war on humanity are indisputable in the context of historical documents. However, what can be easily disputed more than anything are the direct causes of the war. It has been debated among scholars as to whether the reasons for the war were institutional or by a select few powerful individuals. There are historians who write about the shared blame among Western European countries such as Christopher Clark in The Sleepwalkers. On the contrary, there are many historians who would place the blame for the war on Germanyfor varying reasons. In The Kaiser and His Court, John Rohl argues that monarchy and religion in Germany helped to spawn the first world war. His reasoning shows that Germany had a right to expand their power by handing Austria Hungary a blank check to go to war against Russia and that the ultimatum was hastily offered to Serbia to protect Germany s political interests. This paper argues that Germany had the largest role in initiating World War I because it took a separate path from the rest of Europe during the twentieth century. The points to be discussed include why Germany introduced the blank check document, the motives behind the Serbian ultimatum, and the overall religious and political ideologies which led to the outbreak of the war. The reasoning behind Germany handing Austria Hungary the blank check can be debated, but it is most likely because of the political views of Wilhelm II. The assassination of Archduke Franz ... When a viewer watches a documentary, they often feel empowered. They feel empowered to either take action because they support the views of the film, or take action against the film if they do not agree with the views of the film. While some people turn to the news to find out about social issues, people also turn to documentaries. In an article talking about documentaries and their impact, it stated with ever increasing frequency, these films are considered part of a larger effort to spark debate, mold public opinion, shape policy, and build activist networks (Nisbet 450). By dividing the storyline into different chapters like this, the filmmakers can ensure that they present a multitude of issues that appeal to a wide number of viewers without getting bogged down on details that could make people uninterested. Food Inc. is able to give the broad brushstrokes on all of these topics. If a viewer is interested in learning more about a certain issue, they can do it on their own time. Another untraditional practice that Food Inc. performed that may go against the norm in filmmaking is the way it decided to go about the storyline of the documentary. The film practiced moving back and forth between personal stories and institutional practices ensuring that the film can deliver important facts while creating a compelling narrative that emotionally engages its spectators (382). This is a very unique way to present a story line and educate the viewers without them getting bored. • 10. Dissociation Theory Of Hypnosis What is hypnosis? Hypnosis is when a person is in a highly susceptible state of consciousness where they are open to suggestion. Typically, it is used to help relax/calm a person, control /alleviate pain, and recover from whatever they re experiencing. Being susceptible to suggestion makes it easy to be affected mentally and physically. The hypnotist uses this to guide you or influence you into a certain situation. When being hypnotized, the subject is in charge and can t be forced against their will. Which means people can only be hypnotized if they re willing to be. The Social cognitive theory of hypnosis is a form of role playing where people who are hypnotized aren t in a different state of consciousness, but are simply acting the way others expect them to in that situation (Sarbin Coe, 1972). The Dissociation theory of hypnosis is a dissociation of consciousness where the mind is split in two parts (1991; Hilgard Hilgard, 1994). One part of the mind is conscious and the other part of the mind is the hidden observer . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 11. A Treatise On Courtly Love Analysis The ideas found in Andreas Capellanus A Treatise on Courtly Love have made their mark on the human psyche since its inception. The treatise defines love as: an inborn suffering proceeding from the sight and immoderate thought upon the beauty of the other sex, for which cause above all other things one wishes to embrace the other and, by common assent, in this embrace to fulfill the commandments of love... (pg. 1). By framing love as an obsessional and insufferable experience, Capellanus renders those in the midst of worshiping a paramour from afar helpless until their lovesickness is consummated. Because men and women are programmed to enjoy the act of making love, the text attempts to contain and formalize love through a systematic explanation of the private and passionate pursuit of a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Francesca strategically utilizes the concept of love, as described by Capellanus, as her alibi. In her eyes, she is absolved of blame; it was the literature which swept her into a world of love and passion (this would be equivalent to blaming alcohol for one s actions the other night at the bar). Francesca s subsequent telling of her placement in hell nonetheless evokes an interesting and varied interpretation. Despite her sin, perhaps she is hinting at the fact that her brief love affair will in reality last a lifetime since Paolo will always remain by her side in the second circle of The Inferno. Conversely, she may be suggesting that her moment of fulfilled passion and desire was well worth the eternal consequence of displacement and pain. At any rate, what remains true for Dante, and it is well represented in Inferno, is that the greater one s will is to sin, the deeper into the hellish abyss they fall. While anoesis is the least willful of sins, it is nevertheless a choice that caused the lustful to be damned for all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Rationality of Probabilities for Actions in Decision... The Rationality of Probabilities for Actions in Decision Theory ABSTRACT: Spohn s decision model, an advancement of Fishburn s theory, is valuable for making explicit the principle used also by other thinkers that any adequate quantitative decision model must not explicitly or implicitly contain any subjective probabilities for acts. This principle is not used in the decision theories of Jeffrey or of Luce and Krantz. According to Spohn, this principle is important because it has effects on the term of action, on Newcomb s problem, and on the theory of causality and the freedom of the will. On the one hand, I will argue against Spohn with Jeffrey that the principle has to be given up. On the other, I will try to argue against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1969 Robert Nozick introduced Newcomb s problem to the philosophic community as a conflict between the principle of expected utility maximization and the principle of dominance. Nozick s introduction led to a Newcombmania (Levi 1982), because philosophers have decisively different opinions about the correct solution to this problem. The Newcombmania showed itself in the development of causal and evidential decision theories and other proposals. Because the evidential theories (for example Jeffrey 1965, 1983) do not use the principle, they cannot give a solution to Newcomb s problem in case you accept the principle. The causal theories which use subjunctive conditionals (for example Lewis 1981) are problematical, because they still have to provide a logic of subjunctive conditionals, a probability theory for subjunctive conditionals and a corresponding decision theory. Because Skyrms (1980) causal theory and Kyburg s (1980) proposal of epistemic vs. stochastic independence also don t use the principle, only Spohn s solution (1978) to Newcomb s problem is left. This solution which recommends taking both boxes is valuable for its simplicity in contrast to the theories with subjunctive conditionals. According to Spohn it is a mistake to use probabilities conditionalized on actions for the results of the prediction, if the prediction is earlier than the choice. The Gold Of The Bronze Style In China, bronze was often employed with ritual vessels, and this can be best seen with a comparison between an eleventh century B.C.E. you vessel and a fourth century hu vessel that were standard in this time period. These pieces were in high demand during this period from feudal dignitaries starting during the Shang period. They served the purpose of holding wine for ritual ceremonies. The hu especially acted as a vessel for diluting wine with water. The animal motifs outside of the background also repeat symmetrically, as you circle the you. Although the majority of the bands are filled with geometric designs, one band repeats second from the top and second from the bottom and it features birds. These birds are less naturalistic than ones featured in the you vessel, but they serve a stylistic purpose. At this time, the hunt is also a characteristic subject of some bronze vessels of the late Zhou period. • 20. A Study On Cell Adhesion Molecules Name: Instructor s Name: Course: Date: Cell Adhesion Molecules Introduction Cells are independent units of life. However, when a cell becomes part of an organism, it becomes part of a tissue and organ system. Cells in a tissue are joined to each other and to the extracellular matrix (ECM) by cell junctions. There are three kinds of cell junctions: Occluding junctions, anchoring junctions and communication junctions. Occluding junctions occur in the epithelium where the adjacent cells are so tightly sealed together that even small molecules cannot pass. Communicating junctions allow the exchange of chemical and electrical signals between cells. Anchoring junctions are the ones which attach a cell either to its neighbor or to the extracellular matrix. Formation of an anchoring junction requires the cells to stick to each other. Various molecules mediate adhesion between cells following which the cytoskeleton forms a structure around them. The anchoring junctions thus formed can be of four types desmosomes, hemidesmosomes, focal adhesions and adherens junctions. In order for a proper tissue to form, it is important for the cells of the tissue to bind together. It is equally important to prevent the invasion and binding of other cells. Thus, cell adhesion has to be specific. This is where the cell adhesion molecules come into play (Alberts et al. 2002). However, in the case of Islam, the relationship between religion and music is more strained, as Islamic law strictly forbids listening to music. However, there is a very strong religious debate on what constitutes musicas diversion and what is acceptable to use in worship and religious purposes. There are two concepts in Islamwhich are relevant to this conversation: sama and ghina. The ghina is the simpler of the two, referring to music and performance associated with secular art music; this is normally banished. Ghina is the only genre which is referred to as music . The sama, on the other hand, is more complex. Sama, which literally means listening and thus, includes the music being listened to (as well as dance as performed by mystic societies) is more complex. The abundance of writings about the sama is chiefly due to the debate surrounding the legality of music and dance from a legal, mystical, and religious perspective. Some elements of music have been categorized as acceptable sama by religious authorities, including Koran cantillation, singing of unaccompanied hymns, old Bedouin songs, and simple functional folk songs used to mark events in a community or individual s life, thus considering them to be non music . Frankenstein Commentary In order to make the found poem as close to the original as possible, I intended to add in very few words that were not in chapter five, the chapter I chose to use as the source for my poem. I also intended to include Gothic elements which were included in the first few lines when I wrote: It was a dreary night, Dismal and wet, The rain poured from a black and comfortless sky. I had worked hard. A dark stormy night is a Gothic element as it exhibits the metonymy of gloom and horror that was present throughout the chapter. The inclusion of this Gothic element is insightful because it sets the stage for a dark gloomy event soon to occur. The poem was intended to side with Victor Frankenstein and paint a scary picture of the monster. While I was compiling the words for the poem from the chapter, I noticed that Victor Frankenstein used so many words to negatively describe the creature. The words used to for the monster were perfect so I decided to side against the monster. I had the preconception that in order to advocate for Victor, I had to use the harshest words to attack the monster. I wrote It became a thing such as even Dante could not have conceived, the demoniacal corpse to which I had created. Using harsh words impressed upon the reader a negative view on the monster. Imagine that the decision you made is not very popular and that you get criticized and scoffed at for it. During the term of each president, there are many difficult decisions that must be made. Making these types of decisions may be difficult, but they are necessary to the benefit of the country. President Eisenhower was faced with a very difficult decision. While facing his decision he wanted to uphold the Constitution and the laws, but also avoid a difficult confrontation with people who had very high emotions. Eisenhower did not want to be criticized by those who felt he did not ensure civil rights, as well as those who believed he had gone too far in asserting federal power over the states. The ability to overcome degenerative policy making is through policy analysis which deconstructs policy designs in order to expose degenerative characteristics and deceptions (Schneider Ingram 1997). Public policy needs to be inclusive and should provide a clear vision of possibilities, explanations of how and why antidemocratic elements are embedded in policydesigns, and interpretations of how designs impact democratic life (Schneider Ingram 1997, 207). According to Stone (2011), knowledge tools reduce the need for coercive action or force because in the rational model, information will resolve conflict between actual behavior and desired behavior. Providing knowledge or educating make it unnecessary to incentivize or sanction the target in order to elicit the desired behavior. Instead, lack of information or capacity is the primary barrier, and once the appropriate information is relayed to the target, the desired behavior will follow (Schneider Ingram, 1997; Stone, 2011). However, people use a variety of strategies to help their interests and political goals. Critics of rational choice theory contend that people act largely according to prior attitudes and beliefs rather than new information (Stone, 2011, p. 314). After reading Fernando Orejuela s Rap and Hip Hop Culture, one would get a better understanding of the various dimensions of the hip hop culture. For instance, there is a cultural dimensionthat has played a tremendous role in the hip hop culture. Many of the modern styles of dancing and music have come from traditions that were passed down. According to Orejuela, this is in part because of slavery (Orejuela, 5). Hip hop culture has its roots in the spread of African and Latino peoples from their original homes to the Americas , states Orejuela (Orejuela, 5). Orejuela goes on to later discuss exactly how their customs have influenced this hip hop culture. An example of this is when Orejuela states, Many influences, from Africa and Europe, have been combined to form a number of popular dance forms that themselves can be seen as ancestors of b boying and breakdancing (Orejuela, 26). From this, it is clear that culture is of importance in hip hop. Although this is true, there are also other dimensions that have influenced this culture as well. Another dimension of the hip hop culture discussed in Orejuela s book, is the recreational dimension. According to Orejuela, this dimension of hip hop was influenced by many street gangs. A Study On Seismic Wave CHAPTER 2 REVIEW OF LITRETURE 2.1 Introduction Most of today s producing naturally fractured reservoirs were discovered accidentally, they were found by somebody who are looking for some other type of reservoir. Significant volume of hydrocarbon resides in these reservoirs. But these are abandoned particularly in fields because improper testing and evolution or because the wells did not intersect the natural fractures (Aguilera, 1998). Attempts have been made to quantify properties of such reservoir (Chaki et al., 2014). It has been long recognized that the presence of naturally occurring fracture network can lead to unpredictable heterogeneity and anisotropy within many reservoirs. In past geophysicists acquired and processed P wave reflection data at short offset, which automatically implied relatively small angular ray coverage. So seismic anisotropy, which is defined as directional dependence of elastic properties of earth remains unnoticed. But with the advance of methodologies, acquiring long offset and multi component data become feasible and cost effective, anisotropy showed up. Seismic wave propagation in heterogeneous medium is discussed by Chabak et al., 2012. On a smaller scale, stresses in the Earth can cause rock to fracture in a consistent manner. If these fractures are aligned, the rock will be anisotropic with the fast direction parallel to the fractures and the slow direction perpendicular to them. Millions lost their lives in World wars one and two, diseases spread like wild fire in foreign countries, and poverty was striking the world. Isolated events bearing striking similarities to these were in no short supply either. At this time, no event may have been worse than the sinking of the Titanic. The European designed and manufactured luxury ship boasted a length of 883 feet and was described, billed and sold as The unsinkable ship . This behemoth, massive ship weighed well over fifty thousand tons and dominated the Atlantic for her maiden voyage. The Titanic, like many other entities of the time, was not immune to calamity. Off the coast of the United States of America, the Titanic struck an iceberg and sank to the bottom of the ocean. Claiming over one thousand lives, the wreckage of the Titanic left few survivors. But, results of a new study indicate the Titanic may have a hidden secret, one that was not intended for the world to find out; a secret flaw that may have decided the fate of thousands in a minute. In the words of John F. Kennedy in the 1960 s regarding yet another calamity of the era, a day that will live in infamy. In the original myth Hercules died as a result of a poison, and after having burned in the funeral pyre, he obtained immortality (Greek Mythology). He may have died, but if he did not die he would not have become an immortal. After becoming an immortal Hercules married a women named Hebe. Hebe was actually the daughter of Hera, the women who tried to kill Hercules. Along with getting married he had a child in Olympus where he started to live the life of an immortal. Though he did end with becoming immortal and getting married this is probably not the ideal ending for Disney, because instead Disney only used half of the original myth and even changed some of that. When I say they used half of the myth I am referring to how Hercules ended up falling in love with Meg and lived happily, but it was with actually with Hebe. The other half of the ending is when Hercules chose to be with Meg instead of staying immortal, because due to his decision he became a mortal. When Hercules decided to be a mortal he also chose love. I think that with including that Hercules chose love over eternal life he gives a good message for everyone. My guess is that Disney decided that having the message that when you lose one thing something another thing good will happen, for instance how Hercules was a mortal, but he also got love which was his main ... Abby Payne at Lake Travis High Schoolclaims her team is all about the show. They do football, contest, and spring show but spring show is the team s favorite. One thing that seemed unique about her team is that they devote an entire group or the Elite team to preparing the dancers who want to dancecollegiately. Because of the way in which line and proportion are utilized, this woodblock print gracefully portrays the sheer power of the ocean. Derived from the Edo period in nineteenth century Japan, this classic was the first of a series of works from Hokusai titled Thirty six views of Mount Fuji, all of which effortlessly depict the mountain in a wide array of angles and scenery. Arguably, The Great Wave off Kanagawa is the most iconic and cherished piece of Japanese artwork in the world. Even more importantly, Hokusai is considered a prominent father figure for both Japanese art, as well as Western modernization as a whole. The Great Wave truly displays how tiny and weak man is compared to the force of nature. Not only is The Great Wave a quintessential piece of art, but it established a piece in the comprehensive networks of art, trade, and politics, that has instilled a tremendous positive impact in the Western world. With the idea of preemptive attack firmly planted in his head, he sowed the seeds for the eventual battle that later ensued. Harrison also had received intelligence that the great Native leader Tecumseh was recruiting more warriors to his cause, which furthered the fear that the Natives would grow stronger and eventually raid the settlers to take back some of the lands ceded from them.
