Creon Is The Tragic Hero Of Antigone
One might think Antigone is the tragic hero of her own story, but as the audience read in The
Burial at Thebes: A Version of Sophocles Antigone translated by Seamus Heaney, readers know that
she is not the tragic hero and learn the King is. The story starts after Polyneices and Eteocles
battled to the death. This Creonas next in line to take the crown. Creon buries Eteocles but leaves
Polyneices body to rot. Antigone wants to bury Polyneices, as a result, he goes the Underworld.
Based on Aristotle s definition, Creon is the tragic heroof Antigone because although he starts
from a position of greatness, his tragic flaws lead to a catastrophe; he realizes the error of his
ways, but it is too late to prevent the catastrophe; his downfall and suffering leave him humbled
and enlightened. First, based on Aristotle s definition, Creon is the tragic hero of Antigone
because although he starts from a position of greatness, his tragic flaw leads to Catastrophe.
Creon says And I, as next of kin to those dead and doomed,/ I m next in line./ The throne has
come to me (Heaney 15). This is the point where Creon says that he is king once again. That s
how guilt/ Affects some people./ They Simply break/ and everything comes out./ But the barefaced
ones./ The ones who defy you more when they re found out,/ They re worse again (Heaney 31). He
means that guilt results in truth and that people who defy him talk more when they are caught.
Creon knows that Antigone is the one who went

The Role Of Music In Ancient Civilizations
Regardless of where they are located, almost all ancient civilizations share basic features. For
example, most civilizations develop things such as a class system, a common religion, or a system
of writing. Another mark of a successful civilization is the evolution of music. Since music is not
essential to survival, its development is usually within a large established society. The purpose of
musicvaries from civilization to civilization, era to era. In some cultures, music accompanied
religious rituals, as one sees in Ancient Egyptand Mesopotamia. In others, such as Ancient Greece,
music was a part of education and entertainment. Music also played a very important role in
keeping legends and records of history alive through oral tradition. The way it was produced ranged
from monophonic vocalizations in its earliest history to complex instruments and systems later in
time. Any way it was produced, the role music played was one of the most important in ancient
societies.
The earliest sign of music was discovered in architectural sites of Mesopotamia. Some of the main
evidence that music was an important part of Ancient Mesopotamian society was writing about it
found on ancient stone tablets. So far, ten tablets with writings concerning musical scales have been
found in sites around Ur and other ancient cities such as Nippur. They contain information about the
musical scales used in Ancient Mesopotamian music, revealing that there were seven different and
interrelated scales

The La Brea Tar Pits
When most of us think of asphalt or tar, our minds wonder to the roads that our cars drive on.
Asphalt may appear to be an ordinary everyday thing we see and pay little to no attention to but,
in reality, it may hold a treasure of information on Earth s past history. In Hancock Park, Los
Angeles, CA it does just that. The La Brea Tar Pitswere formed during the Pleistocene era over
40,000 years ago and have supplied most of the fossils found during that era in the world (Polly,
1994). Many well known extinct mammal species are found in these tar pits, such as the Mammoth
and the Sabre tooth cat. Even trees have been found in the tar pits, the largest fossil being a

Prevention of Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections In the Healthcare Setting
A Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a serious problem in the clinical setting. UTIs are mostly
associated with catheterization (Hooton, 2010, p. 629). The infection can be described as bacteria
invading the urinary tract. More so, the bacteria accounts for nosocomial bacteremia since the
patient obtains the infection in the hospital (Hooton et al., 2010). A CatheterAssociated Urinary
Tract Infection (CAUTI) is common because nurses do not find this problem at the top of their to
do list during their shift. It can be easy for the nurse to become accustomed to a slight deviation
from the correct method. Any break in the chain of infection has opened the opportunity for
microorganisms to reproduce in a susceptible host. Research has proven that when hospitals, long
term care facilities, and other healthcare settings intervene with making positives changes, less of
the patients developed a UTI with catheterization. Infection control with catheterized patients can
be implemented and resolved with collaboration and education among healthcare staff.
There has been a reoccurring incidence of staff members using urinary indwelling catheters for
unnecessary reasons and convenience. More so, the nurses did not think of the issue as the most

Lu Xun’s Medicine Essay examples
In Lu Xun s Medicine it is implied that in the early 1900 s the Chinese (at least in the village)
believe that blood directly relates to the soul. And if the blood of a person with a good soul in
ingested by a sick person then the sick person will be cured. In the story Medicine a little boy
named Little Bolt has tuberculosis. In the story you can tell that his family tries everything to cure
him, they event tried the guarantied cure which is a mantou (roll) that is covered with the blood

Though this is a common punishment in their government for a person doing something like this, I
believe that it is extremely unjust. Thought what I think about this kind of punishment for an act
like this may be due to where I am from, I still believe that every has a right to an opinion and the
right to voice that opinion. In the end of the story Lu Xun talks about Little Bolts mother sitting
outside at what we would call a grave yard, with her offering to her son (Little Bolt) who is now
deceased. As she is sitting there she notices another woman (the mother of the boy who was
executed) who is visiting a loved one as well. Both women have a hard time leaving and decide
to leave together. As the women begin to leave they look back at the graves. As they look back
the woman notice flowers that seem to be growing over her sons grave. When she takes a closer
look at these flowers she notices that they do not have any roots, no one visits the grave except
her and that children don t play around the grave yard. She then begins to believe that this is her
deceased sons way of letting her know that he is still around in spirit, she asks her son to prove this
to her by having a crow land on his grave, she waits for a few minutes, gives up and begins to walk
away as see does she heard the crow caw. Thus implying that the crow did land on the grave

Anger Is A Universal Emotion
Anger is a universal emotion. It might make you act out and throw something, or it might boil up
inside you until you blow up on some innocent person simply asking a question. How every person
reacts to anger is different, some people may deal with anger more efficiently than others: like
counseling, therapy or by taking medication that mainly focuses on depression or anxiety which
fuels anger. People often wonder if they have anger problems and if it s genetic. Not many know
what part of the brain anger comes from, or what triggers it. Red often symbolizes anger,
because blood is red and so is fire, both associated with anger. Anger is hard to control, and it may
not be your fault for controlling it due to genetics of anger. Thanks to science, studies have given
us bits and pieces to the puzzle we have before us concerning anger.
Being Raised in an Angry Environment
The part of the brain that controls emotions including anger, occur in the amygdala. Science has
shown that adolescences use their amygdala s for decision making more than adults, who use
their frontal lobes. The reason people have anger can be from stress, abuse, finances, social or
family issues. Factors like substance abuse and being raised by or with people with anger issues
can affect ones way of dealing with and levels of anger.
The Brain and Anger
Anger naturally triggers the fight/flight response, which mentally and physically prepares the body
for survival. During the flight/flight response, the

Basketball Story Short Story
Basketball Story It was the biggest basketball game in East Davidson High School history, and it
was coming down to the wire. The starting point guard Corey Shriller, a junior had already
scored 33 points and was looking forward to his first state title, but Saint Thomas High School
was standing in his way and leading by 2 with 24 seconds left on the clock. Saint Thomas had the
ball and Corey was forced to foul. Corey darted towards a Saint Thomas Guard named Noah
Simmons and took him out. The game was already intense but with their tempers flaring the two
guards got into it and the ref was forced to throw them out of the game. Both benches cleared and
the crowd went wild. Both benches had been cleared so the refs signaled for the time to run off,
they would not finish the game and East Davidson had lost. As Corey walked through the narrow
hall towards the locker room he said ВЁNext year will be even better.ВЁ School had been over now
for a few weeks and Corey was visiting his dad in Mexico. When Corey was 10 his parents split up
and his dad moved to Mexico, so every year he would spend the summer with is dad on the beaches
of Mexico. Corey hadnВґt played much basketballsince that loss to Saint Thomas back in April but
he wasn t worried about that now, he was on vacation. East Davidson had a summer basketball
league and Corey could never participate, but he knew that he would still be the best player when

How Does Measure Effectiveness Used A Conversion Rate...
Like many large multinationals, the sports and outdoors equipment store Decathlon entered China
in an attempt to tap into the market. Between 2003 and 2011, Decathlon established multiple retail
stores in large cities across the country all the while competing with local brands and other large
firms such as Nike and Adidas. During this time Decathlon was preparing to launch their Chinese
version of their site allowing for online sales. Aaron Zhou, the ecommerce department head, had
been experimenting with social media advertisingin an attempt to increase brand awareness with
the online shoppers of China. He approached brand awareness through two main social media
platforms. First was 8264.com, an outdoor activity website. Instead of fighting for add space on
the front page, they placed there ad on bbs.8264.com, the bulletin board and discussion area of the
site. To measure effectiveness they used a conversion rate based on purchase order per visit from
8246. While they were targeting a fantastic demo graphic, they discovered that they could generate
brand awareness, but unfortunate they had a low conversion rate. The individuals on the site
seemed to be focused on social aspects, not sales. Second with through micro blogs on Sina Weibo.
Decathlon created an official account in January of 2011 and had 1098 followers in 3 months. They
announced news and discounts on the blog and aimed to engage the community with contests. The

How many spaces from the center of violet line to center of green line? 2 spaces. How many spaces
from the center of violet line to center of yellow line? 3 spaces.
4.Finding the nm/space for your spectroscope:
= difference in wavelength /# of spaces between two lines
Using the violet and green lines: =(538nm 436nm)/( 2 ) = 50 nm/space (value#1)
Using the violet and yellow lines: =(580nm 436nm)/( 3 ) = 48 nm/space (value#2)
Average nm/space: = (Value #1 +Value #2)/2 = (50+48)/2 = 49 nm/space
Agreement of the two values: % difference = 100 x |value 1 value 2|/(average value) = 100 x | 50
48 |/( 49 ) =4.1%
is this value 10%__Yes_.( go through calibration process until you can say yes. )
Your spectroscope is now calibrated. Do not move the lightrod tape in place with clear tape if you
have not yet done so. In event that light rod moves, place reference mark in center of violet line,
and re secure light rod.
Questions and Conclusions:

is clouded by the ideals of many. We are introduced to a world where men/women coexist in a
natural and spiritual state of mind, whereas community/traditions reappear several times to

Self Driving Thesis
Thesis Statement
The increasing use of computer technology in transportation will provide us with much greater
levels of safety and reliability saving potentially millions of lives, and make personal travel and
organizational shipping more cost effective. The fear of placing our faith in the hands of automated
transportation is unfounded. It demonstrates an irrational fear of losing control to technology.
Automated systems are statistically more stable and can be regulated to higher safety standards
than can manual human operations. Given time and further development, autonomous
transportation will become increasingly more common and prevent accidents caused by human
error. This paper will show that self driving vehicles are inevitably our future.

Fear of Technology
One major barrier in the implementation of intelligent transportation is that there is a common
fear of technology. In one study, only 37% of women and 50% of men say that they would feel
safe in a self driving car. On top of this 46% of those surveyed believe that a driverless car is
unsafe (LeBeau). It seems that the technology is advancing more quickly than consumer comfort
levels. This is common with many new technologies and yet, with time can be overcome.
The ultimate solution to the concern about autonomous transport technologies will be education.
Instead of viewing the AI as an ambiguous, malicious, unknowable entity (A. Walker), one must
become familiar with the tech in question. Taking a simple computer class may help. Certainly,
talking to a self driving car dealer or user will alleviate some of the stress involved in the change.

Percy Shelley an ancient poet of the 16th century. He falls under the category of one of the

Percy who was sent to boarding school at the age of ten. The odd boy who was usually very
quiet was often being taunted by schoolmates in a relentless manner exposing out certain aspects
about him. For instance anger that had once even driven him to stab another student of the

Most poets looked up to his works. In this list, it would involve Pre Raphaelite poets who are
very well known and also Victorian poets. Some of the poets include Oscar wilde and Thomas

slightly the same to the way Oscar wilde did it. He talks about Dorian s beauty and how he

Traditional Marital Customs Still Play Essay
Introduction
Family has long been treated as the basic unit in Chinese society. Traditional marital customs still
play a pivotal role in people s common life, especially in their own marriage practices. The
majority of Chinese people follow the basic ancient marital principle: a man or woman should get
married upon coming of age. In contemporary Chinese society, when young people coming to the
age of marriage, parents, realities and other significant others usually push them to take their
heterosexual boyfriend or girlfriend back home (Lee, 2013). Their pressure has been exacerbated
becasue most of the family have only one kid due to the Chinese one child policy. Parents almost
focus all their attention on the success of career and marriage of their only child. British
Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) news had reported that in order to release the pressure from
families, some single young people are resorting to renting fake boyfriends or girlfriends and come
back to their home to appease their parents and significant others on some important holidays
(Hatton, 2013). Obviously, the homosexual individuals suffered more pressures from family and
society. Traditional cultural values exert much influence upon young people s mentality and make
them struggle between their sexual identities and expectations from the outside environment. In
particular, parental attitudes toward marriage and participants endorsements of filial piety values
(Hu Wang, 2013). In order to survive

One of the most definitive problems with Charlotte Beers brand stewardship was her
communicative process with upper level management. While it may be true that Beers was able to
develop a clear vision of Brand Stewardship and explain what that meant to her collaborative team
thirsty for change, the idea was only a concept at the end of their meeting summit.
It is essential to the success of any plan that a strategy must first be developed, and to that point,
Charlotte Beers was initially on track. She brought together a team to devise a vision and plan for

Clients would be one of the top priorities for Ogilvy Mather because the need to understand the
concept of Brand Stewardship to invest in it, without their support of the idea the concept would be

to fully grasp the idea of Brand Stewardship and how it can work for their company. This is integral
because it is not only about understanding, but it s also about knowing the benefits of this service
and what it can do for their company. With the know, I would also want them to understand how
Ogilvy Mather will go about acting out these benefits through strategy and thoughtful planning.
The Core Disciplines play an extremely important role in the Brand Stewardship plan, as they
are the individuals who will be executing the idea. This group would be a priority because if they
do not understand the concept then neither will the client because they are the communicators,
they provide the examples and final product of what Brand Stewardship really is. The main
communicative object for the Core Disciplines would be for them to be able to clearly and
concisely define what Brand Stewardship is. If they are able to explain exactly what the message
and concept is, then they will have completed the first step to proper execution. I would also like

There are several places to travel to, it depends on the traveler where he wishes to go and what is
his main objective. The general classification of places is by hill stations, beaches, desert, busy
cities, etc. Each of these places has their own charm and beauty. Not to forget these places also
have a certain time period to be visited in for the best experience. But that is applicable only
when u have to visit the place for a holiday time and not for a business trip. Travelling to take a
gap from our busy schedule is very good for health. It relaxes our mind and makes it all fresh for
the work. It is advisable to take a trip between busy schedules to calm our mind. Besides, if a
person is stationary for a longer period of time, he becomes monotonous. Travelling to various
places broadens our mindset and refreshes our brain. A visit to a place imparts practical

In 1995, Cohen read an article pointing out that the acceptance rates of blacks at many major

Cohen had to use the Freedom of Information Act to get the documents he wanted. The documents

My first memory is when I got to fly down to Atlanta, Georgia for the National 4 H Congress

Lucid Dreams Essay
The purpose of this study was to see if political views or your personal background has anything
to do with the types of dreams that you have. There were women and men that participated, by
personal or internet surveys. The questions were asking general questions like age and race and
the types and the frequency of your dreams. There were 700 people to do the interviews and the
researchers chose the liberal and conservative men and women. There were 234 participants in
total, conservative and liberal men and women, more liberalism. One of the reasons for this
research was how your dreams were based off things that were important to you in real life. There

The tests were based on emotions and different activities, like sleep paralysis, snakes, and
terrorism. The results were very similar, but Liberal women had a higher percentage on most of
the dreams. Liberals remembered sexual experiences better and are more open to talk about
them, conservatives remembered the nightmares. Conservative men had more lucid dreams
which is when you are dreaming and you know you are dreaming. Researchers interpreted that
because most men will tell themselves that their nightmare was just a dream. The next set was
the percentage of Nightmares and Bizarre Dreams that each group had. Liberals had more bizarre
dream that they could recall all of the details, it was something that was not ordinary.
Conservatives had more nightmares dealing with negative emotions. Conservatives have more
mundane dreams which are dreams that are dull or lack interest. The last set was the Analysis of
Political Dreams. Liberals had more political dreams and they were bizarre nightmares and mean.
The dreams would seem real and it had already happened, but seemed as if the participant was
living in that moment again in a different way. Conservatives dreams about politics were good and
happy dreams. For example, being friends with the president instead of thinking of the

Swot Analysis on Retail Strategies of Iocl
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 INDIAN PETROLEUM SECTOR
Management of retail business is the key determining factor in the success of any business. To gain
a sustainable competitive advantage, a retailer needs to understand and satisfy the customer s needs.
This principle holds true in petroleum retailing too. All efforts at exploration and production,
refining, distribution and marketing finally conclude at the retail point after moving through long
complicated supply chain. The downstream business is extremely complicated and of substantial
strategic importance to the national economy. Oil products, especially transportation fuels, play a
key role in the national economic growth. This is what makes the retail business exiting and ...

The government also proposes to hold the oil companies accountable for the quality of product
dispensed through their network. Retail sales of diesel account for 80% of total sales and in petrol
this percentage is 98%.
Price of petrol and diesel so far, has not been a differentiating factor in the retail business. Even
after the dismantling of the administered pricing mechanism, the price of the product remains the
same throughout the length and breadth of the country. It is a well known fact that the cost of the
product is a very important factor in consumer choice. With the entry of a few private players,
though in a small magnitude, a price war has already started at a few regions. This price war is
going to become a reality in times to come when new entrants go for an aggressive expansion of
their retail network. They have already sped up their efforts, commissioning new retail outlets in the
past few years. At this stage, for the government oil companies, it is crucial to undertake a concerted
effort at cutting down their costs and improving efficiency to effectively counter this challenge.
Using information technology for supply chain management, and monitoring the quality and
quantity of product can go a long way to improve efficiency and cut down costs.
One of the more visible transformations in the retail business of auto fuels is the realization by oil
companies that most non fuel activities can also be an important source of revenue

Gladiatorial Protection and Battles
Posters hung of these gladiators upcoming battles and tallies were posted of these individual
gladiators records. Gladiatorial battles truly morphed into a game to the audience, as fans
placed bets on who would win each battle. These gladiators were no longer looked at as human
beings, but rather as bodies in a blood battle. These battles were so gruesome in order to
entertain and appease the large audiences. The gladiators went to all costs when it came to the
arena battles, and even created their own fighting styles in order to make the battles more
interesting. I had no idea that gladiatorial battles were such an art, and that there were so many
gladiatorial fighting styles implemented. Gladiators were armed with various weapons and had
different fighting techniques. Some gladiators rode into the arena on horseback, known as
equites , as a scare tactic before he fought his opponent. Others carried large shields that covered
their entire bodies for protection, known as murmillo s , while some gladiators carried small
shields that covered only their torso so they were better able to move around. 1 The picture below
shows some of the other types of gladiators and the armor they wore for battle. (Figure 2)3 There
is much debate over which type of gladiatorial protection was better suited to help win the battles.
Many argued that gladiators with more armor and weapons were better equipped to win because
they had more protection from fatal blows. Others argued that the

Analysis Of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest By Ken Kesey
Sigmund Freud was someone who turned clinical psychology on its head; therefore, it only makes
sense that he would be an inspiration for someone who completely redefined literature. In the novel
One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest author Ken Kesey weaves an intricate, while subtextual, theme
that mirrors concepts of Freudian psychology. About a decade after publication, in her article
Kesey and Freud, former Northeastern University professor Ruth Sullivan analyzes the
progression and impact of Kesey s use of Freudian psychology, most specifically, Kesey s use of
Freud s Oedipus Complex as it pertains to the characters Nurse Ratched, R.P. McMurphy, and Chief
Bromden. While it is true that McMurphy and Bromden represent the typical Freudian father son...

According to an article titled The Oedipal Crisis, the main stages of the Oedipal Complex that
deals with a mother are that, the first love object for [the son] is the mother, the young boy is
threatened by the father s relationship with his mother, and the father is perceived as an enemy.
(http://www.changingstates.co.uk/freud.html). Nurse Ratched never fulfills any of those roles;
in fact, she is seen as the clear enemy the whole entire book. The enemy is never McMurphy;
instead, Nurse Ratched is described as the root of all the trouble here (Kesey, 185). Ratched and
McMurphy s relationship is not sexual and the men on the ward are never envious of
McMurphy for his relationship with Nurse Ratched. Instead, Nurse Ratched is seen as a woman
who McMurphy describes as a ball cutter (Kesey, 60) Nurse Ratched is not someone who is
seen as appealing or attractive or warm like a Freudian mother, rather, she is a woman that makes
a man powerless and asexual. Freud s Oedipal triangle is clearly missing one point because the
Big Nurse does not fulfill the concept of a Freudian mother. That is where Sullivan s analysis falls

Essay about Health Care Reform
Background Universal Health Care System
One of the most long standing health care systems was originated in Germany in 1889 by Otto
von Bismarck s social legislation. Its included bills were the Health Insurance Bill 1883, Old Age
and Disability Insurance Bill of 1889, and Accident Insurance Bill of 1883. The National Insurance
Act of 1911 in Britain covered most people employed. It also financed dependents if families had
contributed for at least five years. This coverage lasted whether families worked or not. This Act

Health care systems in Germany faced problems including a growing population, visitation of

deficits in rich and poor disparity, over testing patients, and preventable deaths of adults and infants.
German government established its system to distribute fairness to all by engulfing itself in the
socioeconomic system. This idea differs from American policy which uses the government to

The Fault In Our Stars Movie And Movie Analysis
Novels are always better than films because they have more details than a film. While reading a
novel the readers can imagine the scenes with details it gives. Meanwhile, in films, the reader
doesn t get the whole effect on how a character feels. The Fault in Our Stars novel is better than
the film itself. The Fault in Our Stars is a story of a young sixteen year old named Hazel Grace
who is a survivor of cancer. Grace meets a young boy named Augustus Waters at the cancer support
group. They fall in love. Grace feels like this boy understands her and have so much in common.
Augustus Waters and Hazel Grace go to Amsterdam to meet Peter Van Houten. He is a famous
author who wrote a novelcalled An Imperial Affliction, While Grace and Waters are at Amsterdam,
they fall in love. They continue on going to dates and being with each other the most they could.
Augustus knew he was going to die soon. He planned his funeral and dies days later. The Fault in
Our Stars novel is different from the film. For example, in the novel, the author talks about how
Hazel visits Isaac at the hospital often because his eye surgery, Hazel notices Augustus staring at her
during the support group meeting, and Hazel drives to Augustus house to pick him up before their
trip because she overhears him arguing with his mother

Summary of Defending Against the Indefensible Essay
In Neil Postman s Defending Against the Indefensible , he suggests that our society has been
culturally brainwashed. Therefore, Postman has given us seven key elements of critical thinking to
help us understand the English language and avoid the manipulation of language: definition,
questions, simplicity of words, metaphors, reification, style and tone, and the non neutrality of
media. Postman s first principle is that a definition is only a means of helping us achieve our
goals. Definitions do not have the power to stop us from achieving our purposes. Definitions will
always have a bias. It is our job to spot that bias and questionwho wrote the definition, why, and for
what purpose. The word organic is seen quiet frequently... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What was considered right to Hitler was very contrary to what was right to Churchill during World
War Two. Students who can understand the meanings of these small words will be able to
understand how the media, politicians, and preachers may try to mislead or cover up. Fourth,
students must realize how much metaphors are used in the english language. Not only are
metaphors used so commonly, they also greatly influence the way we think about things. All
subjects are based on metaphors. Education is currently seen as a business with the students as the
clients. Language is a tree with deep roots. Metaphors are a cornerstone to how we grasp concepts
and understand the knowledge we have. We really only know things in relation to other things,
often by a metaphor Postman s fifth concept is reification. This is the confusing of words with
things. It is with reification, that we can manipulate words to help us conceal ideas. Words like
ethnic cleansing or final solution make a concept sound like it is a good thing, yet it really
involves the massacre of millions of people. Reification displays to us that a person s word choice
is profoundly influential to how we perceive a concept. Style and tone is the sixth concept used by
Postman. All subjects of knowledge are like genres. They share certain qualities that are distinctive
to the subject matter. A man of science could not write about history

Tetralogy Of Fallot Essay
Having a diagnosis of Tetralogy of Fallot should mean having a death sentence. With an occurrence
rate of 3 in every 10,000, it is the most common cause of cyanotic cardiac disease. [Wynbrandt,
366] There are four defects that commonly occur together; ventricular septal defect, hypertrophied
right ventricle, malposition of the aorta, and pulmonary stenosis. For one to be diagnosed as a
Tetralogy of Fallot baby, the patient must present with at least two of the four defects. Any one of
these defects can cause serious catastrophe to the cardiac system. Combining these defects together
makes it that much more complicated for the cardiologist to correct. Without the advancements
made in cardiology, this diagnosis would mean certain death to the postnatal child. The congenital
defects of tetralogy of Fallot was named after a French physician, Louis Arthur Etienne Fallot in
1888. Fallot referred to the congenital condition as La Maladie Bleu because of the cyanotic
appearance of the patients. [Bailliard, OJRD] Fallot made significant advances in understanding the
defects and how this disrupted the correct bloodflow throughout the body. Fallot is responsible...

Malpositioned simply means that the aorta opens inside the heart in the wrong place. In a normal,
healthy heart, the aorta is connected to the left ventricle, allowing oxygen rich blood to be pumped
throughout the body. In patients suffering from tetralogy of Fallot, the aorta is slightly shifted to
the right. This slight shift places the artery directly over the ventricular septum defect, which is
typically located at the tip of the ventricles. As previously stated, the VSD allows oxygen rich and
oxygen poor blood to mix together. With the aorta being directly over the VSD, this allows the
mixture of blood to be pumped through the rest of the body, again contributing to the cyanotic

Moon Landing Never Happened
Many people believe the moon landing never happened. The number one belief is that the
photographic evidence is fake. The astronauts took thousands of pictures, each one perfectly
exposed and sharply focused. Not one was badly composed or even blurred. In particular, there is
one photo that is often mentioned, the photo of Neil Armstrongputting the American flag into the

obvious problem here is that there s no air in the moon s atmosphere, and therefore no wind to
cause the flag to blow. (Josh Fox, 2012). Theorists state that since the moon has no atmosphere, so
if it was really on the moon there is no way the flag couldn t be waving

Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof Essay
Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof
Doris Lessing s A Woman on a Roof allows us to understand how some men view woman: as
mere objects for display and possession. Lessing shows how each of the male characters reacts and
deals with rejection from a woman sunbathing on a nearby rooftop. We discover how three men s
preoccupation with sex keeps them unaware of how their advances may be unwanted and ignorant
of their action s possible consequences.
All three men share the desire to get this woman s attention. Working on a rooftop of a block of
flats in the hot, hot, sun, these men seek a diversion from the relentless heat. They whistle, yell,
and wave at a near naked woman on a rooftop nearby, but the woman pays no mind ... Show more

They report her movements to one another. Stanley likens her presence on her roof to a crime
gotten away with. He states that he would never let his wife do what she is doing (Lessing 857).
Acting as judge and jury, all three men seem to deny her the right to be on her roof doing as she
pleases.
The woman acts as if she has managed to escape the mindless need to entertain men (Allen 200).
The woman on the roof has not offered one invitation for comment or attention, yet the men feel she
has. By being caught by their eyes was invitation enough, yet the woman ignores the men no matter
what (Lessing 858). She remains the symbol of a new age woman who disdains harassment from
men.
Tom believes he is this woman s hero. Throughout the story he sees himself protecting her from
Stanley s domination (Lessing 858). He feels he is not her harasser and that she must be aware of
his love for her. His dreams of her have convinced him that meeting this woman is in his destiny. He
doesn t interpret her indifference as rejection as Stanley does and has no idea how he will suffer

Analysis Of Maus s Maus

Animalization and Identity in Maus
Art Spiegelman utilizes animals as characters in Maus to great effect. His decision to use animals
instead of people is an important one; by representing racial and national groups in a non normative
fashion, he focuses the reader s attention on the concept of identity, a concept that is often times
entirely taken for granted. Identity, and the process by which one s identity may be formed, is
multi faceted. On occasion, this can be simple. For instance, Vladek is Jewish, and identifies as
such, even admittedly conforming to a good deal of the stereotypes, such as miserliness, and is
descended from a long line of Jews However, even for someone like Vladek, who never for a
moment questions his identity in point of fact, the matter of identity can become complicated;
there are times when he has to disguise himself as a gentile Pole to avoid racist persecution and for
reasons of survival, making the transformation from mouse to pig in the context of the graphic
memoir. During this time of disguise, the transformation is visually rendered by Spiegelman by
having Vladek put on a pig mask; Spiegelman, as an artist, takes full advantage of his character s
animalization: species are easily identified, and subsequently categorized by the human mind
quickly. For others, however, their identities are not so fixed, not so firmly established. The author
s wife, Francois, is French, but

So the match was the latest match to be rated 5 stars by the observer. Villano III entered with

structure, no rules being enforced, two referees stood around, Los Villanos taking it in turns to
deliver sloppy, slow offense. You can see the clowns waiting around outside to have their turn.
The best spot of the match was the double suicide dive by the clowns. The clowns, despite them
looking like heels, didn t want to play the heels. The most cringing parts is one of the clowns
using a yellow rag of some kind (even if anyone was to be DQ d, it did zero damage), deciding to

Villano III as the clown didn t want to pin him specificially. So after asking for one of the other

The other Villano delivered a low blow, and the second referee (who stood around doing nothing),

Phytonutrients (Lycopene)
Abstract
Phytonutrients are manufactured in pants where they are in turn utilized by humans to avoid
various health issues. The production of these chemicals is often prevalent among plants such as
vegetables and fruits. Phytonutrients may be classified into Terpenoids, Alkaloids and Phenolic
depending on the chemical structure, phytonutrients are categories into different classes which
include; Resveratrol, Epicatechin, Lycopene, and Lutein. Lycopene may be referred to as a bright
red, fat soluble phytonutrient that is often found in tomatoes and other fruits with red pigmentation.
Lycopene is also fundamental to the growth and development of plants as it plays an essential role
in the biosynthesis of various types of carotenoids. The chemical compound does this by
interrupting any signals that are likely to prolong or promote the generation of cancerous tumors.
Lycopene can limit or slow down the growth of prostate and breast cancer. This paper is aimed at
highlighting the benefits of Lycopene to both plants as well as humans in general.
Introduction
Also referred to as phytochemicals, phytonutrients include a range of chemicals, usually produced
by plants that are believed to have health benefits for both plant and animal species. Plants often
utilize these phytonutrients to promote their health in their growth and development. Some of the
benefits that plants are likely to derive from such chemicals include

Teaching Phonics Is An Essential Part Of A Child s Education
Understanding phonics is an essential part of a child s education, as the knowledge they develop
will assist them to read and write. Educators must have an understanding of phonics to teach it
effectively. Teachers need to support students to learn what sounds, letters make, which is a
phoneme. Educators also need to assist students to make the connection with the letters and their
names, which is called graphemes (Tompkins, Campbell, Green, Smith, 2015, p. 142).
Understanding that each letter makes a different sound and connecting this to the letter is known as
phonics, which is required for readingand writing. According to Miskin (2016, p. 9) the English
language has more than 150 ways to represent the 44 phonemes, which are represented using the
26 letters of the alphabet or graphemes. Australian educators need to implement a successful
phonics program, which is engaging by involving different strategies that are suitable to student s
level. According to New South Wales (2009, p. 16) phonics must be taught in kindergarten and
begins with songs, rhymes, and books. Synthetic and analytic are two different teaching strategies,
which are used to teach students phonics. These strategies are very different to one another and
are a similar method of the top down bottom up approach. Top down allows students to use prior
knowledge by using the phonemes to make a word while the bottom up approach allows students
to use what they already know or have seen in prior learning

  • 2. Creon Is The Tragic Hero Of Antigone One might think Antigone is the tragic hero of her own story, but as the audience read in The Burial at Thebes: A Version of Sophocles Antigone translated by Seamus Heaney, readers know that she is not the tragic hero and learn the King is. The story starts after Polyneices and Eteocles battled to the death. This Creonas next in line to take the crown. Creon buries Eteocles but leaves Polyneices body to rot. Antigone wants to bury Polyneices, as a result, he goes the Underworld. Based on Aristotle s definition, Creon is the tragic heroof Antigone because although he starts from a position of greatness, his tragic flaws lead to a catastrophe; he realizes the error of his ways, but it is too late to prevent the catastrophe; his downfall and suffering leave him humbled and enlightened. First, based on Aristotle s definition, Creon is the tragic hero of Antigone because although he starts from a position of greatness, his tragic flaw leads to Catastrophe. Creon says And I, as next of kin to those dead and doomed,/ I m next in line./ The throne has come to me (Heaney 15). This is the point where Creon says that he is king once again. That s how guilt/ Affects some people./ They Simply break/ and everything comes out./ But the barefaced ones./ The ones who defy you more when they re found out,/ They re worse again (Heaney 31). He means that guilt results in truth and that people who defy him talk more when they are caught. Creon knows that Antigone is the one who went ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Role Of Music In Ancient Civilizations Regardless of where they are located, almost all ancient civilizations share basic features. For example, most civilizations develop things such as a class system, a common religion, or a system of writing. Another mark of a successful civilization is the evolution of music. Since music is not essential to survival, its development is usually within a large established society. The purpose of musicvaries from civilization to civilization, era to era. In some cultures, music accompanied religious rituals, as one sees in Ancient Egyptand Mesopotamia. In others, such as Ancient Greece, music was a part of education and entertainment. Music also played a very important role in keeping legends and records of history alive through oral tradition. The way it was produced ranged from monophonic vocalizations in its earliest history to complex instruments and systems later in time. Any way it was produced, the role music played was one of the most important in ancient societies. The earliest sign of music was discovered in architectural sites of Mesopotamia. Some of the main evidence that music was an important part of Ancient Mesopotamian society was writing about it found on ancient stone tablets. So far, ten tablets with writings concerning musical scales have been found in sites around Ur and other ancient cities such as Nippur. They contain information about the musical scales used in Ancient Mesopotamian music, revealing that there were seven different and interrelated scales ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Asphalt may appear to be an ordinary everyday thing we see and pay little to no attention to but, in reality, it may hold a treasure of information on Earth s past history. In Hancock Park, Los Angeles, CA it does just that. The La Brea Tar Pitswere formed during the Pleistocene era over 40,000 years ago and have supplied most of the fossils found during that era in the world (Polly, 1994). Many well known extinct mammal species are found in these tar pits, such as the Mammoth and the Sabre tooth cat. Prevention of Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections In the Healthcare Setting Dayna Menard Mount Vernon Nazarene University Prevention of Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infections In the Healthcare Setting A Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a serious problem in the clinical setting. UTIs are mostly associated with catheterization (Hooton, 2010, p. 629). The infection can be described as bacteria invading the urinary tract. Analysis Of One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest By Ken Kesey Sigmund Freud was someone who turned clinical psychology on its head; therefore, it only makes sense that he would be an inspiration for someone who completely redefined literature. In the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest author Ken Kesey weaves an intricate, while subtextual, theme that mirrors concepts of Freudian psychology. About a decade after publication, in her article Kesey and Freud, former Northeastern University professor Ruth Sullivan analyzes the progression and impact of Kesey s use of Freudian psychology, most specifically, Kesey s use of Freud s Oedipus Complex as it pertains to the characters Nurse Ratched, R.P. McMurphy, and Chief Bromden. While it is true that McMurphy and Bromden represent the typical Freudian father son... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to an article titled The Oedipal Crisis, the main stages of the Oedipal Complex that deals with a mother are that, the first love object for [the son] is the mother, the young boy is threatened by the father s relationship with his mother, and the father is perceived as an enemy. (http://www.changingstates.co.uk/freud.html). Nurse Ratched never fulfills any of those roles; in fact, she is seen as the clear enemy the whole entire book. The enemy is never McMurphy; instead, Nurse Ratched is described as the root of all the trouble here (Kesey, 185). Ratched and McMurphy s relationship is not sexual and the men on the ward are never envious of McMurphy for his relationship with Nurse Ratched. Instead, Nurse Ratched is seen as a woman who McMurphy describes as a ball cutter (Kesey, 60) Nurse Ratched is not someone who is seen as appealing or attractive or warm like a Freudian mother, rather, she is a woman that makes a man powerless and asexual. Freud s Oedipal triangle is clearly missing one point because the Big Nurse does not fulfill the concept of a Freudian mother. That is where Sullivan s analysis falls ... Its included bills were the Health Insurance Bill 1883, Old Age and Disability Insurance Bill of 1889, and Accident Insurance Bill of 1883. The National Insurance Act of 1911 in Britain covered most people employed. It also financed dependents if families had contributed for at least five years. This coverage lasted whether families worked or not. This Act was amended in 1948 with the National Health Service revised the act to secure only legal residents to benefit from this plan. Health care systems in Germany faced problems including a growing population, visitation of patients and tourists who needed assistance, and an increase in the costs of providing medical care to the entire population. Both Germany and the US systems have its setbacks. The US suffers from deficits in rich and poor disparity, over testing patients, and preventable deaths of adults and infants. German government established its system to distribute fairness to all by engulfing itself in the socioeconomic system. This idea differs from American policy which uses the government to develop systems of mass assistance (welfare, Medicare, etc) then state that the government shouldn t control it. • 31. Summary of Defending Against the Indefensible Essay In Neil Postman s Defending Against the Indefensible , he suggests that our society has been culturally brainwashed. Therefore, Postman has given us seven key elements of critical thinking to help us understand the English language and avoid the manipulation of language: definition, questions, simplicity of words, metaphors, reification, style and tone, and the non neutrality of media. Postman s first principle is that a definition is only a means of helping us achieve our goals. Definitions do not have the power to stop us from achieving our purposes. Definitions will always have a bias. It is our job to spot that bias and questionwho wrote the definition, why, and for what purpose. The word organic is seen quiet frequently... Students who can understand the meanings of these small words will be able to understand how the media, politicians, and preachers may try to mislead or cover up. Fourth, students must realize how much metaphors are used in the english language. Not only are metaphors used so commonly, they also greatly influence the way we think about things. All subjects are based on metaphors. Education is currently seen as a business with the students as the clients. Language is a tree with deep roots. Metaphors are a cornerstone to how we grasp concepts and understand the knowledge we have. We really only know things in relation to other things, often by a metaphor Postman s fifth concept is reification. This is the confusing of words with things. It is with reification, that we can manipulate words to help us conceal ideas. Words like ethnic cleansing or final solution make a concept sound like it is a good thing, yet it really involves the massacre of millions of people. Reification displays to us that a person s word choice is profoundly influential to how we perceive a concept. Style and tone is the sixth concept used by Postman. With an occurrence rate of 3 in every 10,000, it is the most common cause of cyanotic cardiac disease. [Wynbrandt, 366] There are four defects that commonly occur together; ventricular septal defect, hypertrophied right ventricle, malposition of the aorta, and pulmonary stenosis. For one to be diagnosed as a Tetralogy of Fallot baby, the patient must present with at least two of the four defects. Any one of these defects can cause serious catastrophe to the cardiac system. Combining these defects together makes it that much more complicated for the cardiologist to correct. Without the advancements made in cardiology, this diagnosis would mean certain death to the postnatal child. The congenital defects of tetralogy of Fallot was named after a French physician, Louis Arthur Etienne Fallot in 1888. This slight shift places the artery directly over the ventricular septum defect, which is typically located at the tip of the ventricles. Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof Essay Women as Objects in A Woman on a Roof Doris Lessing s A Woman on a Roof allows us to understand how some men view woman: as mere objects for display and possession. Lessing shows how each of the male characters reacts and deals with rejection from a woman sunbathing on a nearby rooftop. We discover how three men s preoccupation with sex keeps them unaware of how their advances may be unwanted and ignorant of their action s possible consequences. All three men share the desire to get this woman s attention. Working on a rooftop of a block of flats in the hot, hot, sun, these men seek a diversion from the relentless heat. The woman acts as if she has managed to escape the mindless need to entertain men (Allen 200). The woman on the roof has not offered one invitation for comment or attention, yet the men feel she has. By being caught by their eyes was invitation enough, yet the woman ignores the men no matter what (Lessing 858). She remains the symbol of a new age woman who disdains harassment from men. His decision to use animals instead of people is an important one; by representing racial and national groups in a non normative fashion, he focuses the reader s attention on the concept of identity, a concept that is often times entirely taken for granted. Identity, and the process by which one s identity may be formed, is multi faceted. On occasion, this can be simple. For instance, Vladek is Jewish, and identifies as such, even admittedly conforming to a good deal of the stereotypes, such as miserliness, and is descended from a long line of Jews However, even for someone like Vladek, who never for a moment questions his identity in point of fact, the matter of identity can become complicated; there are times when he has to disguise himself as a gentile Pole to avoid racist persecution and for reasons of survival, making the transformation from mouse to pig in the context of the graphic memoir. During this time of disguise, the transformation is visually rendered by Spiegelman by having Vladek put on a pig mask; Spiegelman, as an artist, takes full advantage of his character s animalization: species are easily identified, and subsequently categorized by the human mind quickly. Teaching Phonics Is An Essential Part Of A Child s Education Understanding phonics is an essential part of a child s education, as the knowledge they develop will assist them to read and write. Educators must have an understanding of phonics to teach it effectively. Teachers need to support students to learn what sounds, letters make, which is a phoneme. Educators also need to assist students to make the connection with the letters and their names, which is called graphemes (Tompkins, Campbell, Green, Smith, 2015, p. 142). Understanding that each letter makes a different sound and connecting this to the letter is known as phonics, which is required for readingand writing. According to Miskin (2016, p. 9) the English language has more than 150 ways to represent the 44 phonemes, which are represented using the 26 letters of the alphabet or graphemes. Australian educators need to implement a successful phonics program, which is engaging by involving different strategies that are suitable to student s level. According to New South Wales (2009, p. 16) phonics must be taught in kindergarten and begins with songs, rhymes, and books. Synthetic and analytic are two different teaching strategies, which are used to teach students phonics.
