What Are The Arguments Against Texting And Driving
In the age of advanced technology, it is no wonder why many municipalities allow texting and
driving. If you take a look around you at any given point, it would be almost impossible to not
find someone texting on their phone. Texting has become an integral part of communication for
all. Whether it s a teenager or a C.E.O of a company, we all use texting as a critical means of
getting information to one another in an instant. Therefore, it is clear to see why texting and
driving are allowed in certain location throughout the country. However, I believe that it should be
against the law. One reason is because texting requires someone to use his or her hands to text
instead of steer. The second reason is that texting requires the use of one s eyes causing driver
distraction that may lead to accidents. There have been arguments that as long as... Show more

They also claim that the distraction is not any worse than changing a radio station or talking to
someone. Neither one of these things are illegal to do while operating a motor vehicle. Therefore,
texting should not be illegal. There is also the argument that if the phone is held up to the
windshield level, a driver may still have some attention on the roadway and any impending dangers
that it presents. While all these points are true and valid, my argument against them is that it adding
more distraction than what is already considered normal. As I stated previously, most of us drive
with one hand, which already creates an issue. When you add all these other things we do that are
not illegal such as changing the radio station, looking for things, and even applying make up, it
creates an atmosphere of nearly total inattention to the most important part of operating a motor
vehicle. That is simply keeping both your hands on the steering wheel and your eyes on the

Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay
Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society,
a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to
further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke
of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many
Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination
of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the
changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit
the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed
programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern
liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination
of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he
also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society.
Johnson wished to create the glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C.
Aiken and John M. Redding (1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while
addressing the country after that fatal day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. A
politician that Johnson looked up to was Franklin D.

Executive Summary
Mobile marketing is more than a trendy new media channel; it is a powerful communication tool
with considerable audience reach and awareness. Over 85% of the population in the UK use a
mobile phone and 80% across Western Europe. With such high penetration, mobile marketing
campaigns can reach all audience demographics (over 70% penetration in all the age ranges up to
64 years of age).

The term mobile marketing covers a broad range of formats in which the target audience interacts
with a campaign using their mobile phone. We have defined 4 broad groups of format within this
primer:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Messaging based Marketing using SMS and MMS;
Browser based
Marketing using the mobile internet in WAP format via banner ads and interstitials; Voice based
Marketing using voice lines; and
Emerging
Current cutting edge campaign formats which are being used by just a few specialist agencies.
Examples include use of Java games, voice mail marketing and Location Based Services (LBS).
Many of the formats defined above can also be targeted at fixed line/land line customers. For the
purposes of this primer we focus purely on the opportunities to target the mobile customer base with
the mobile phone.
It was only a few years ago that the mobile channel was used experimentally for the first time as a
marketing tool. At the time the complexities of the technology, the specialist knowledge required
and the contractual difficulties of working with the mobile networks made delivering mobile
marketing campaigns an area only for the determined.
Today, these hurdles have been largely removed. The value chain supporting mobile marketing has

Discipline As A Teacher
Children must be taught and guided in the right direction. Whenever discipline is implemented, the
child is learning the proper behavior and is acquiring new knowledge. With the teacher s clear
explanation which will give the child understanding, the child should gain wisdom. Wisdom comes
through experience. Wisdom has been defined as having the knowledgeof what is proper and
appropriate and having the ability to apply that knowledge with just judgment ccording to
knowledge, experience, and understanding (Merriam Webster s online dictionary, n.d). In order for
our children to grow in knowledge and understanding, they must learn and show discipline.
As teachers, we are challenged to guide our students in a way that encourages independence. This
means that what we are teaching them, they will learn to do for themselves. Discipline helps to
instill the proper behavior. Practicing the proper behavior produces routine. Routine then in turn
displays discipline. Discipline is taught. Where there is discipline, there comes knowledge and
wisdom, which exemplifies the purpose of teaching and learning.
When it comes to raising a child, which we as teachers also take on, we may all have different
methods, but each method should evolve from the guide that was given in the Good Book, The
Holy Bible. Ephesians 6:4 states, Fathers do not provoke your children to anger by the way you
treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. We

Pearl Jam Vs. Ticketmaster
BACKGROUND: The case revolved around Pearl Jam, a famous Seattle based rock band, and
Ticket master Corporation, nation s premier ticket distribution company. The case described the
conflict between the two parties that led to an antitrust violation case against Ticketmaster. The
band advocated low priced tickets for its concerts and insisted Ticketmaster to lower their service
charges, thereby bringing down the ticket cost for its fans. ISSUE: As indicated from the case, Pearl
Jam filed a complaint alleging that Ticket Master was intending to monopolize the ticket service
industry, using its market dominance and power to charge exorbitant service charges. According to
the complaint, the service charges that Ticketmaster added to the tickets... Show more content on

In 1995, when the band decided to go for their independent tour, they were not able to attract big,
established promoters and to secure popular venues for their shows. Due to the issues such as
weather and security, Pearl Jam had to cancel several concerts. Similarly, Ticket master also lost a
huge business and was not able to secure summer Olympics contract due to the ongoing antitrust
investigation related to the case. Hence, the continued dysfunctional conflict created problems and
affected the performance of both the parties. The complaints launched by rock band were baseless
and not very accurate. According to the antitrust ruling, no significant evidence was found against
Ticketmaster. Ticket master did not form any monopoly as other competitors could avail the
opportunities to succeed with better organization. Similarly, the company did not either practice
anti competitive tactics as claimed by the band rather used the economies of scale to run their
business efficiently. Ticketmaster s kickbacks to promoters to ensure that shows take place was
legal and ensured that the job gets done with a fewer number of show

Through The Tunnel Symbolism
In Through the Tunnel, the author, Doris Lessing, writes about a vacation of a widow and her son
named Jerry. Lessing turns Jerry s and his mother s relaxing vacation into a serious one with the
tools of symbolism to unveil the hidden message of the rocky bay and the tunnel, vivid imagery of
the tunnel, as well as similes and personification regarding Jerry s attitude towards the adventure;
moreover, the author creates an overall tone of determination and wonder to help construct the well
known theme of never giving up.
It is safe to assume the rocky bay and the tunnel both symbolize very important aspects in this short
story. The rocky bay could be said to symbolize a turning point in Jerry s life. In the first paragraph,
Jerry looked down at a wild and rocky bay, and then over the crowded beach he knew ... Show more

After Jerry had watched the older boys go through the tunnel and leave the bay, he was left alone
again. He then dived back in among the fanged and angry boulders, (3). This personification
emphasizes a negative connotation that shows how frustrated Jerry is at this point in his
adventure. He felt like he boys were leaving to get away from him, (3), which only further
supports the notion that he feels alone and has no clue what to do. However, after he decides to
get goggles, he ran right back and dived into the bay once more. While he was negative towards
the whole ordeal before, the following simile reveals a different tone: Now, he could see. It was
as if he had eyes of a different kind, fish eyes that showed everything clear and delicate and
wavering in the bright water, (3). The fact that he is now describing things as clear and delicate
shows a more positive connotation which can suggest that Jerry was not as frustrated after that. He
felt as if he got some of his composure and control back and is ready to continue on his

Credited as the creator of the amateur sleuth mystery genre, Edgar Allan Poe is arguably the
finest mystery author in the history of literary writers. Born on January 19, 1809, Poe endured a
troubling childhood. Before the age of three years old, both of Poe s parents tragically died. Mr.
Poe was unofficially adopted by John and Frances Allan following the death of his parents. From a
young age, Mr. Poe was incredibly skilled at writing. He referred to himself as a poet long before

Vineland is set in California in 1984, the year of Ronald Reagan s reelection. The story details the
free spirit of rebellion of that decade through flashbacks by its characters. The novel describes the
traits of the fascistic Nixonian repression and its War on Drugs that occurred in U.S. society from
the 1960s to the 1980s. The central quest is that of a daughter for her absent mother, and while the
process by which the two are united involves an impressive accumulation of information about
international corporate practices and structures, the history of the Left in California, the effects of
Reaganomics and the War on Drugs, and the popular culture of the 1980s, there are no
epistemological impasses or withheld revelations (Hite 719).... Show more content on

The tension between satisfying our credulity and satisfying our skepticism, as David Lodge puts
it differently energises each of Fowles s first three novels. Realism can also be seen as an
ancestrally impure and precautious synthesis of history, romance and allegory; and from this
point of view character is the problematising of the relations between its consistent parts that
characterize much contemporary British fiction including Fowles s. The formal agony and
hesitation co exist; with immense formal energy and inventiveness in problematic fictions such
as Doris Lessing s The Golden Notebook, Augus Wilson s No Laughing Matters and differently
in Iris Murdock s The Black Prince as well as Fowles s The French Lieutenant s Woman. These
novels carry the currently inescapable and romance theories of insubordination. They leave the
reader as Lodge has suggested with a paradox about the relations between art and life. The reality
principle is never allowed to lapse entirely indeed, it is often involved to expose the artificiality of
conventional realistic illusion....This kind of novelistic, I am talking about referring a loyalty to
both (reality and fiction) but later the orthodox novelists and confidence on the possibility of
reconciling them. He makes the difficulty of the task, in a sense, his subjects (Bradbury 105).

Many of the views and actions of society and politics today are centered around the media, which
keeps the public well informed on current events so that the public can make educated decisions
based on the information they have accrued to make change in the functions of our society,
whether small or large. However, misinterpreted bias in mass media causes the creation and
spread of misinformation to the public, which causes members of society to have a skewed vision
of what is fact and what isn t. This can cause members of society to make decisions based on
incorrect information, which affects the running of our society as a whole. WikiLeaks, a media

article, as the author uses loaded and persuasive language to appeal to American sentiment. The
very first sentence in the article states, You sure have to hand it to the Russians. This sentence
introduces the informal and sarcastic tone that is used throughout the article, as well as informs the
reader that this is not an informational piece. The reader knows all of this when they read the first

will be biased and might not even be correct. As the article continues, the author follows a slippery

MOM Up Review
MOM UP is a delightful broad comedy. The concept for MOM UP is a lot of fun and delivers a
strong, eccentric, and very colorful protagonist in Roxy Holliday. Even her name is fun.
The goal is clear and the stakes are personal. The script is driven by themes about growing up,
learning to move forward, and appreciating who you are.
There s no doubt that the highlight of this script is Roxy. She s amusing to watch. She s clearly
flawed, controlling and reckless, but there s something very charming about her. She really has a
good heart, but she makes the wrong decisions for the right reasons.
As much as one really adores Roxy, the script would benefit from more development. It s the
structure and pace that are worthy of discussion.
Basically, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One has to understand a bit better what her life was like growing up with Roxy. She needs to
learn to appreciate Roxy s eccentric, free spirit behavior. Amanda works well as the uptight
woman and at the end make sure she learns to be a bit more reckless, as Roxy becomes more
mature. As mentioned, however, the relationship between her and Bo isn t well understood.
Right now, none of the supporting characters standout, with the exception of Kiley. She s likable
and she has the opportunity to even verbalize some wisdom to Roxy. However, there s really no
need for both Kiley and Alex. They have similar type roles, so consider combining.
Richard doesn t feel essential or understood. Ernesto never really engages. Rusty has strong
potential, but feels underused.
The dialogue is sharp and reveals information about the characters. Roxy s voice is very consistent
with her personality. Amanda s voice sounds uptight, which is also congruent with her personality.
There s nice subtext we all eventually become our mother. Make sure to pay this off.
The script is professionally presented. However, be careful in the narrative of asking too many
questions, as this can be distracting and the audience can t see these questions or comments.
There s no need to repeat BFF. On page 33 there s a small typo Oxy vs. Roxy and on page 45 about
getting the man a suit: How about we can get

thing Gatsby did was take the blame for running over Tom s mistress, Myrtle when it was Daisy

better that the shock should all come at once. She stood it pretty well. Was Daisy driving? . Yes,

Australia s Asylum-Seeker Policy Analysis
What is the true cost of Australia s asylum seeker policies?
Australia s policies in regard to asylum seekers and refugee processing, are viewed as very
controversial, and often inhumane by the international community (Lock, Quenault Tomlinson
2002, p.37). To discuss this policy, I will apply an external analysis. In order to decide whether
this policy is seen as good or bad, through a social, economic and human rights perspective.
The policy originated in 1992 where asylum seekers who arrive by boat to Australia, are permitted
to mandatory detention (Manne 2016). This policy expanded in 2001 to the Pacific Solution ,
where those deemed unlawful citizens are to be kept in offshore mandatory detention in countries
such as Papua New Guinea, Manus Island and Nauru. However, the costs of this would be
covered by the Australian government (Henderson 2014, p.1163 1165). Because of this, numbers
of asylum seekers accepted into Australia significantly decreased (Lohana, Khaskhely, Khan,
Razzaq 2016, p.175). Post 9 11 this idea was well supported as the perception arose that asylum
seekers are queue jumpers , and others even associating them as terrorists (Lock, Quenault
Tomlinson 2002, p.39). People also believed that boat arrivals were unworthy of resettlement, and
would freeload off Australia welfare and resources (Lohana, Khaskhely, Khan, Razzaq 2016 p.177).

How Did Jeremiah s Corrupt Kings
Jeremiah
Judah s corrupt kings
Jeremiah is commonly known as the weeping prophet because of his deep commitment to and
empathy and compassion for the people of Judah; to whom he was chosen to chastise. He was a
prophet during the reign of five kings including: Josiah, Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoiachin, and
Zedekiah. King Josiah had brought about reform throughout Judah and Jerusalem, restoring the
people to proper worship of God. However, when the king died, subsequent kings returned to the
corrupt religious practices of: idolatry, child sacrifice, and worship of Baal and other false gods,
which had been established by previous kings. Although God had withheld his wrath during King
Josiahs reign; it would eventually fall upon Judah because of the sins and evil that the other kings
had promoted.
Jeremiah s calling
When God first called Jeremiah, Jeremiah argued that he was too young to speak for God.
However, God reminded him of who had been in control of his life and future all along, Before
you were born I set you apart (Jeremiah 1:5). God charged Jeremiah with the purpose to deliver the

feel all alone in this world, to feel that God had forsaken him. Despite his attempts to change the
trajectory of their lives, he helplessly witnessed the people of Judah refuse to heed his warnings and
continue in a life of sin and moral corruption which led to their ultimate collapse and destruction.
Yet, throughout his ministry God offered Jeremiah nuggets of hope for the

During our first experiment we used blue, yellow and a mixture of blue and yellow to find their

430 nm and the mixture (green) peaked at 630 nm. Results on Tables 1 3 and Graph 1. We had to
find the peak wavelength of each dye to identify the color of the solution. By using the Spec 20
machine the color or the dye that is seen depends on the wavelengths of light to see the color that is
reflected and the other colors that are absorbed [1]. By using a vision region colour wheel I can
see that because the blue peaked at 630 nm the color absorbs red light. The yellow absorbed violet
light and the mixture absorbed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the intensity of color is related to the absorbance of light when using the Spec 20. The
intensity of the color of the compound is proportional to the absorbance of the compound. The
greater the intensity the greater the absorbance. By using the Spec 20 we could uncover an
unknown sample color by knowing a colors transmission/absorption range. We also learned that
absorbance and concentration of solutions are proportional to one another. The more concentrated
the solution the greater the light absorbed, which is proven by Diet Coke. By using a Beer s Law
Plot we can determine an unknown samples concentration by observing the absorption of the
sample [2]. The evidence of the experiment proved that the color of a compound is related to
absorption and absorption is related to the concentration of a

The Effects Of Mass Media On Society
Where do we get our information in society? How do we know what is true information from
false information? Mass media, including T.V, Radio stations, newspaper has taken over the
minds of people in society. According to Glen Smith and Kathleen Searles, Most assumption are
being based off of what they see and hear on the television, social networks and on the radio
because its mainly one side stories or one bashing of individuals. People do not take the time to go
in depth about the situation being inaccurately displayed at times. Sociologist is beginning to
realize the effect of mass mediahas on society especially the younger generation.

giving us an unremitting stream of disconnected and episodic event. This goes to show that media
definitely has control of our minds. They showcase what they want the people to see and have
judgment on. Even fashion or the way they portray women and men, has become a money making

Analysis Of Speak By Laurie Anderson
The book Speak by Laurie Anderson is a book about how Melinda Sordino overcomes the troubles
in her life, and how she learned to speak up for herself. The author uses a lot of archetypes and
allusions throughout the book to add a fuller description to the events Melinda had gone through,
which will help the readers to better understand what Anderson is trying to tell.
When Melinda started her first day of high school, she suffered from peer pressure with her best
friend who had just left her, and everyone had hated her because she ruined a party during summer
break by calling the police. Melinda knew that no one knew the truth, but she was afraid to speak
out about it. Laurie Anderson used the allusion of Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer ... Show more

Moreover, this drawing of the tree is representative of the mind growth of Melinda. For instance,
the drawing was poorly drawn at the beginning of the book, Melinda s pressure and her life were
weighing her down. As the drawing got better throughout the school year, Melinda s strength
and mindset also began to get better as well. If the tree meant to shelter , then Melinda sure
developed a very nice shelter for herself in the end. Laurie Anderson also used allusions while
describing Melinda s trauma. IT sees me. IT smiles and winks. Good thing my lips are stitched
together or I d throw up. (Anderson 96). The book Maya Angelou is written by a girl who was
once raped. The experience is similar between Melinda and Angelou. The audience may not fully
understand what Melinda was thinking during that time, but the book, Maya Angelou, fully
describes the life of a raped girl which gave us a fuller understanding of the situation that Melinda
was dealing with. She also used the archetype of darkness, when Melinda was raped, it was night
time. Darkness represents Chaos, emblem of bad judgment and destruction, for instance, Melinda
was raped in the darkness. This word should give the readers a clear foreshadowing of what will
happen next. The author also used the archetype of coldness throughout the story. For instance, at

Analysis of Frost s Poem, Mending Wall Essay
People keep an emotional distance between one another to prevent others from getting too close
to them. Robert Frost in the poem Mending Wall shows the reader an example of two different
kinds of people. One kind of person is open to the idea of friendship and is willing to make an
effort to try to dissolve any conflict, and try to get along with someone else anyway possible.
Then there is the other side which is against the idea of change, someone who is closed to the idea
of something new and against breaking down social barriers. Yet both sides seem to find their
common ground meeting at the wall.
Mending Wall by Robert Frostdisplays the seasonal routine of two neighbors who are constantly
mending a wall which separates their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their dedication and commitment to the wall shines through when reading how persistent these
men are about keeping it well intact. However, even though both men take great care of the wall,
the welcome necessity for keeping the wall there and intact is not shared by both neighbors, but the
neighbor opposing the idea of the wall uses this time to socialize with his neighbor and tries to
convince him that this time spent repairing the wall is as foolish and unnecessary as having the
wall left there in the first place. You take notice that during this spring mending time the two
neighbors are not only completing a joint task, but they are also building some form of a
relationship. If this relationship was not willingly made between the two neighbors they would not
repeat their routine, time and time again.
As the poem goes on, it clearly shows that even though the two men are conversing and working
together, there is always some distance between them at all times. The poem even states that on a
day we meet to walk the line and set the wall between us once again. (14 15) It shows that even
though between both men there is a small link of friendship, that the one neighbor still wishes the
wall to be intact to be left alone so he can have his own personal space.
As the poem continues it begins

Perfect Pita Bread Situation Analysis Paper
One of my responsibilities as the Chief Operating Officer of Perfect Pita restaurants is to

Child Labor In The British Industrial Revolution
In the late Eighteenth century, Great Britain s shift from an agricultural based economy to one
based on industry began the period known as The British Industrial Revolution. With the increase in
the population exceeding four million, the small, rural industries were not able to meet the market s
growing demands for the production of textiles and manufactured goods. In an attempt to create
more efficient means of production, technologically advanced machines and new energy sources,
such as James Hargreaves Spinning Jenny and James Watt s steam engine, were created and placed
in urban factories. As these machines required no skill level to operate, countless members of the

Public Support For The Supermax Prisons Essay
I decided upon reading more about the Supermax prisons, as I had heard of them but never really
focused much attention to them. I wanted to gain more knowledge on what they were used for
and the controversy which surrounded the use of these Supermax prisons. I decided to read
Housing for the worst of the worst inmates: Public Support for the Supermax Prisons and What we
know, what we do not know, and where we are going journals. From my first perceptions of a
Supermax prison, I only really knew that they could house thousands of criminals at one time and
that those criminals were the ones you would not want to be involved with, being as they were in
confinement for the majority of the day. And they are rarely allowed to communicate with each
other or with the prison guards.
After reading housing for the worst of the worst inmates... I was able to find out that the criminals
were in confinement of a single call for twenty three hours a day, with very little services or
privileges, to which this has been argued against as being cruel and inhumane (Miller, 1995.) It has
also been said that keeping the inmates locked up for twenty three hours a day with little to no
contact is an extreme form of punishment. ... inmates claim that specific policies and practices in
the Supermax context violate their right to be protected against cruel and unusual punishments.

Helicopter Parenting Analysis
Helicopter parenting is when a parent or guardian is overly concerned, and involved in their child s
performance in various activities and their physical well being. As discussed in lecture, this concept
largely stems from the idea that the world has become increasingly dangerous since the parents of
the millennial generation were children and in turn they over compensate by becoming involved in
their children s action and life decisions, both big and small. During this observation I noticed many
insistences of helicopter parenting, the most prominent were the parents in the stands who were
shouting very loudly the entire game. Though they allowed their child to play a contact sport many
of them spent the entire game literally on the edge... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How does JB Priestley Use the Inspector to Comment on Social Injustice An Inspector calls
Coursework
Introduction
The play an inspector calls is set in the year 1912, the same year that the great ship Titanic sunk.
The author of this play John Boynton Priestley has used this time to show how social classes
worked and how bad it actually was.
The play itself is set in a large house owned by a rich factory owner, Mr. Birling. Mr. Birling has a
wife and two children, Sheila and Eric. The family are having a small party because they are
celebrating the engagement of Sheila, Birlings daughter, to Gerald Croft. Gerald is the son of a
great man who also owns a factory and Mr. Birling sees this as a chance to get into the big ... Show

If you really think about it though you would see that it made the standards of Britain high and it s
position in the world greater than others.
How does J.B. Priestley use the inspector to comment on social injustice ?
The play An inspector calls has a great story in it. Yet if you take out the story the play comments
very strongly on social injustice in the early nineteen hundreds. There are many points of
snobbery in the play whilst the inspector is there and also when he isn t. For example the following
quote is a solid piece of evidence from the play of the social life.
Birling: ......I have an idea that your mother Lady Croft while she doesn t object to my girl feels
you might have done better for yourself socially.
The above quote most definitely shows the snobbish side of Mr. Birling and how he wants to be a
part of the Crofts and he will then be well known and maybe get onto the honors list.
The inspector is used in this play as really a base and also to bring out the upper class snobbery
of the family. He is shown as a poor, arrogant man and he doesn t care about the classing system.
This makes him very strong and he can then bring out his thoughts without any hesitation to the
family. The inspector is also for some reason a very good detective in a very unusual way. He
doesn t really ask many questions but literally persuades the family to come out with the

Serve Of Fail Analysis
Serve of Fail by Eggers brings up many interesting points as to why volunteering should be a
requirement for college students. Colleges should create in their students a lifelong commitment to
volunteering, he said while pointing out that college students are uniquely suited to volunteering.
He stated that America would gain millions of volunteer hours and it would help colleges bridge
the gap between the academic world and the world beyond it. I agree that colleges should make
volunteering a requirements for students and I support Eggers argument, but have a different
opinion on some of his points.
Eggers brings up a point that colleges should instill in their students a lifelong commitment to

The amount of college students in America make that number plausible. Those 10 hours a year
could be put to good use by volunteering and doing something good for the community.
Volunteering would give the students a better look at the real world .
Volunteering could help colleges bridge the gap between the academic world and the world
beyond it says Eggers. Volunteering could be done at many venues and by volunteering at work
places or in a field they prefer to, students can get to know that field better. Acquiring that
perspective will connect the students to that field of work allowing them to gain experience.
Although I don t agree with Eggers that colleges should be responsible for instilling in their
students a love for volunteering and that college students are suited to volunteering, he brings up
some good points. Requiring college students to volunteer would give America millions of
volunteer hours and will connect students to the workplace. I agree that required volunteering will
be a benefit to American college students, and the country as a whole, therefore I support Eggers

How My Major and Minor Will Help in My Endeavors
Explaining the importance of my major and minor is very simple. My major will be general
business; the reasoning behind this choice is I have always been fascinated by business. I loved
my economics classes which fueled my interest for investing and looking at companies and
gauging their worth and risk. In this regard i feel like having a general business degree will help
me find a job in anything business as I will have a wide spread knowledge on the topic, while I do
love business that is not my main goal. To understand that you have to look at my minor, this will
be communications.
I have always been a people person, I loved talking with everyone about anything and
understanding their interests and expressing my own. In the past semester I took a speech class
and found I really enjoyed it which got me thinking about what i wanted to do when I graduate.
This is when it all comes together. My major is business which will give me the background into
business that I need. My minor is communications which will give me the skills I need to go into
either public relations or a salesman for a large company. I feel the importance of these degrees
should be easily identifiable. Everyone needs someone to talk for and be the face for a large
company. That is where I see myself in ten years, working for a company as a public relations
representative. My degree in business will give me credibility and know how into the subject while
my communications minor will give me the skill to

The Effects Of Post Olympic Games On The Olympics
Bubble economy is the third reason of the valley effect of post Olympic Games. Before the
Olympics, many tourists and company go into the Olympic host country to consume. They will
largely promote this country s development of the construction industry, tourism, services, retail
and other industries. Especially in tourism, the Olympic Gameswill bring numerous tourists for host
city, and these tourists will consume in the city, and these tourists need pay for food,
accommodation, transport, purchase goods and souvenirs and, some companies and people also
will consider purchasing real estate in the Olympic Village. However, after the end of the Olympics,
these tourists will leave the Olympic host country gradually, causing tourists and consumers reduce
in the Olympic host city and the economic markets shrink.
Because of the above reasons when the Olympics begin, the host country have a considerable
economic development, the construction industry, tourism, services, retail and other industries go
into a few peak. But after the Olympics, consumers leave the city, which lead to a rapid decline of
the economy development. Thus the lacking of consumer lead to a number of economic and social
problems, such as unemployment, poor sales of goods, tourism slump, the real estate bubble.
Especially in tourism, the influence of Olympic economy bubble is the most serious for tourism. A
report from The European Tour Operators Association (ETOA) shows some information. After the

Developing And Marketing Computer Hardware Systems
Introduction
Reading through the requirement of this paper there were several options to choose from. There
are several companies that offer integration to their customers such as SAP which is the leader in
ERP solutions, Oracle which came to the industry after acquiring PeopleSoft back in 2005,
Microsoft, and IBM. Reading the materials throughout this semester was interesting as it gave me
an inside view of system integration and it made me think of the architecture of how companies
integrate their system or the high level thought of how things are done when big companies acquire
other companies. Researching all these four big companies, I found that Oracle had a lot of
products that integrate systems and it seems they have a solution for a lot of major industry with
pre defined modules that help jump start the integration process. Everyone knows oracle as it s a
global computer technology company. The company primary specializes in developing and
marketing computer hardware systems. The company also builds and develops databases and
database products. , middle tier software, resource planning (ERP), customer relationship
management and supply chain management software.

suite of integrated, global business applications that enables the company to make better decisions,

John Adams Pursuit Of The American Dream

History 101

The American Dream
When people come to America, they come because the want to live the American dream. But
what actually is the American dream? Does it truly exist? When one thinks of the American
dream they instantly think of the Declaration of Independence because they too also believe that
all men are created equal but also believe in the beauty of life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness. United States citizens as well as immigrants, believed in what the declaration had said
and that it would push them closer to an experience of the American dream. Though people are
excited to move towards a better life, they become a bit hesitant because they do not know exactly
what the American dream is, nor do they know if all people are granted the same chance towards
the American dream due to their age, race, their social status, traditions and any other factors.
John Adams once stated that this American dream we speak of should give a better life to
everyone but only according to their ability. To me this means that everyone deserves a better life
but we cannot just give you everything, you have to show what you can do, and how far your
American dream goes depends on you, your ability, and how hard you are willing to work. Though
your American dream is based upon your ability being African Americanholds you back, though
you have the ability to do great things you will not get the same opportunity due to race. Even today

Mildred Pierce
Mildred Pierce is a woman that s tied down by the social norms of the 30s where women have to
be attached to a man in order to be anything or have anything. Women at the time don t really have
a chance in the workplace. They were expected to be housewives and attended their husbands wants
and needs and take care of the familywhile the men did all the work and provided for the family. It
was a rare occurrence to see a womanworking because that meant she was either single, divorced,

when she started to look in the mirror and laugh different ways and she automatically got a
response on how people would rate her based on how her laugh and how she looked was. Another
part was when her son was on the couch playing a video game with the virtual reality headset
which made the rest of the world invisible. When his mother walked in and asked him a question
he had no clue that she asked him a question, this also relates to when they were getting tea and
how everyone was on there phone and not talking to other people they were living their world
through their phone. This is probably the most realistic term that relates the episodes to the real
life today. With the invention of the virtual reality headsets this is one thing I could see and

Reflection Paper On Court Hearing
This reflection paper is over my fifth week at my practicum site. This week I was in the office on
Monday and Tuesday. This week I was able to attend a court hearing and I wrote up my visitation
log from the visit that happened last week.
There are a lot of things that has to happen when the Department of Children and Family Services

they have to have court within 2 days. The court date is considered the first court hearing. The

The first court hearing consists of many different things. The first thing that happen is the
investigator is called to the stand and asked questions about what happened during the investigation
that were significant enough to take PC. This is a precaution step to make sure the kids were
removed for a legitimate reason. At this point the judge can sign off on the order of PC or return the
kids home to the perpetrator. The investigator explained this process to me prior to going into the
courtroom and she said the judge never sends the kids back home. The perpetrator can be called to
the stand but most of the time they are not. The next thing that is put in place is a permanency

According to Davison et al., (2013), disorders are the result of unconscious conflicts in the
individual . The psychoanalytic paradigm concentrates on childhood and defines what the
individual has been through during childhood is reflected in his/her adulthood. Davison et al.,
(2013) stated that anorexia nervosa disorder usually starts to develop in adolescence due to past
unstable relationships between parents and the child. Indeed, being overprotective and
overinvolved in the child s life by taking all the decisions for him without giving him a voice, as it
is seen in the case of Karen Carpenter, lead the child to feel powerless, insecure, and have a low
self esteem. A lack of control is felt by the child and is then transformed into high self control
later on. Approaching adolescence, the child becomes more conscious about the society
demands on appearance and as a result respect those requirements to be accepted by
transforming him/herself into a thinner silhouette. This self control over a strict diet creates an
identity to the individual. According to Mushatt (1983), problems in the family increase the
probability to develop an eating disorder as anorexia nervosa. The roles played by the parents of
Carpenter family were well defined: her mother has control over everything and her father was
following her mother s commands in order to satisfy her. Concerning Karen s father, his passive
behavior did not help to lower the anxiety level felt at home and to bring back stability within the
family. Indeed, being a perfectionist mother does not help the child to grow up normally. The fact
that Karen s mother was over controlling could also have participate in her development of the
anorexia Nervosa disorder. Karen was not taking her own decision which is defines as it as an
infantilizing decision making by Msuhatt (1983). As explained in her biography, Karen Carpenter

fluctuations in resting heart rate over time. Discuss a couple of extrinsic factors that influence the
autonomic nervous regulation of resting heart rate.
The resting heart rate fluctuates over time because it is under control of the autonomic nervous
system and the fluctuations are a result of the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems trying to
balance each other out.
There are many reasons on why the resting heart rate can fluctuate over time. Factors can include
things like the temperature of the room we were in, or what we ate/ drank for breakfast. Also
volume of liquid or chemicals in the cell can impact the heart rate.

Homeostatic is all about balance so when you begin to exercise, you need more oxygen. The harder

In the first experiment I was subject 2. For the most part my heart rate did not oscillate too much.
My heart rate was a little slower than the other subjects as well. Compared to Activity 2, his
oscillations while exercising were a little more dramatic. The reason for this could be that your
heart is trying to adjust to the new physically taxing activity that you are enduring. Your body is
trying to balance, but if it is thrown into a demanding activity it will take a little bit more adjusting

  • 3. What Are The Arguments Against Texting And Driving In the age of advanced technology, it is no wonder why many municipalities allow texting and driving. If you take a look around you at any given point, it would be almost impossible to not find someone texting on their phone. Texting has become an integral part of communication for all. Whether it s a teenager or a C.E.O of a company, we all use texting as a critical means of getting information to one another in an instant. Therefore, it is clear to see why texting and driving are allowed in certain location throughout the country. However, I believe that it should be against the law. One reason is because texting requires someone to use his or her hands to text instead of steer. The second reason is that texting requires the use of one s eyes causing driver distraction that may lead to accidents. There have been arguments that as long as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also claim that the distraction is not any worse than changing a radio station or talking to someone. Neither one of these things are illegal to do while operating a motor vehicle. Therefore, texting should not be illegal. There is also the argument that if the phone is held up to the windshield level, a driver may still have some attention on the roadway and any impending dangers that it presents. While all these points are true and valid, my argument against them is that it adding more distraction than what is already considered normal. As I stated previously, most of us drive with one hand, which already creates an issue. When you add all these other things we do that are not illegal such as changing the radio station, looking for things, and even applying make up, it creates an atmosphere of nearly total inattention to the most important part of operating a motor vehicle. That is simply keeping both your hands on the steering wheel and your eyes on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M. Redding (1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while addressing the country after that fatal day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. With the teacher s clear explanation which will give the child understanding, the child should gain wisdom. Wisdom comes through experience. Wisdom has been defined as having the knowledgeof what is proper and appropriate and having the ability to apply that knowledge with just judgment ccording to knowledge, experience, and understanding (Merriam Webster s online dictionary, n.d). In order for our children to grow in knowledge and understanding, they must learn and show discipline. As teachers, we are challenged to guide our students in a way that encourages independence. This means that what we are teaching them, they will learn to do for themselves. Discipline helps to instill the proper behavior. Practicing the proper behavior produces routine. Routine then in turn displays discipline. Discipline is taught. Where there is discipline, there comes knowledge and wisdom, which exemplifies the purpose of teaching and learning. When it comes to raising a child, which we as teachers also take on, we may all have different methods, but each method should evolve from the guide that was given in the Good Book, The Holy Bible. Ephesians 6:4 states, Fathers do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord. We must ... Similarly, Ticket master also lost a huge business and was not able to secure summer Olympics contract due to the ongoing antitrust investigation related to the case. Hence, the continued dysfunctional conflict created problems and affected the performance of both the parties. The complaints launched by rock band were baseless and not very accurate. According to the antitrust ruling, no significant evidence was found against Ticketmaster. Ticket master did not form any monopoly as other competitors could avail the opportunities to succeed with better organization. • 9. Through The Tunnel Symbolism In Through the Tunnel, the author, Doris Lessing, writes about a vacation of a widow and her son named Jerry. Lessing turns Jerry s and his mother s relaxing vacation into a serious one with the tools of symbolism to unveil the hidden message of the rocky bay and the tunnel, vivid imagery of the tunnel, as well as similes and personification regarding Jerry s attitude towards the adventure; moreover, the author creates an overall tone of determination and wonder to help construct the well known theme of never giving up. It is safe to assume the rocky bay and the tunnel both symbolize very important aspects in this short story. The rocky bay could be said to symbolize a turning point in Jerry s life. The story details the free spirit of rebellion of that decade through flashbacks by its characters. The novel describes the traits of the fascistic Nixonian repression and its War on Drugs that occurred in U.S. society from the 1960s to the 1980s. The central quest is that of a daughter for her absent mother, and while the process by which the two are united involves an impressive accumulation of information about international corporate practices and structures, the history of the Left in California, the effects of Reaganomics and the War on Drugs, and the popular culture of the 1980s, there are no epistemological impasses or withheld revelations (Hite 719).... Even her name is fun. The goal is clear and the stakes are personal. The script is driven by themes about growing up, learning to move forward, and appreciating who you are. Australia s policies in regard to asylum seekers and refugee processing, are viewed as very controversial, and often inhumane by the international community (Lock, Quenault Tomlinson 2002, p.37). To discuss this policy, I will apply an external analysis. In order to decide whether this policy is seen as good or bad, through a social, economic and human rights perspective. The policy originated in 1992 where asylum seekers who arrive by boat to Australia, are permitted to mandatory detention (Manne 2016). This policy expanded in 2001 to the Pacific Solution , where those deemed unlawful citizens are to be kept in offshore mandatory detention in countries such as Papua New Guinea, Manus Island and Nauru. However, the costs of this would be covered by the Australian government (Henderson 2014, p.1163 1165). Because of this, numbers of asylum seekers accepted into Australia significantly decreased (Lohana, Khaskhely, Khan, Razzaq 2016, p.175). Post 9 11 this idea was well supported as the perception arose that asylum seekers are queue jumpers , and others even associating them as terrorists (Lock, Quenault Tomlinson 2002, p.39). King Josiah had brought about reform throughout Judah and Jerusalem, restoring the people to proper worship of God. There are several companies that offer integration to their customers such as SAP which is the leader in ERP solutions, Oracle which came to the industry after acquiring PeopleSoft back in 2005, Microsoft, and IBM. Reading the materials throughout this semester was interesting as it gave me an inside view of system integration and it made me think of the architecture of how companies integrate their system or the high level thought of how things are done when big companies acquire other companies. John Adams Pursuit Of The American Dream Daija Daniels Professor Metz History 101 21 March 2016 The American Dream When people come to America, they come because the want to live the American dream. But what actually is the American dream? Does it truly exist? When one thinks of the American dream they instantly think of the Declaration of Independence because they too also believe that all men are created equal but also believe in the beauty of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. United States citizens as well as immigrants, believed in what the declaration had said and that it would push them closer to an experience of the American dream. Though people are excited to move towards a better life, they become a bit hesitant because they do not know exactly what the American dream is, nor do they know if all people are granted the same chance towards the American dream due to their age, race, their social status, traditions and any other factors. John Adams once stated that this American dream we speak of should give a better life to everyone but only according to their ability. To me this means that everyone deserves a better life but we cannot just give you everything, you have to show what you can do, and how far your American dream goes depends on you, your ability, and how hard you are willing to work. Though your American dream is based upon your ability being African Americanholds you back, though you have the ability to do great things you will not get the same opportunity due to race. This week I was able to attend a court hearing and I wrote up my visitation log from the visit that happened last week. There are a lot of things that has to happen when the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) take protective custody (PC) of a child. After DCFS has taken PC over a child or children they have to have court within 2 days. The court date is considered the first court hearing. The perpetrator is encouraged to come and they have been appointed and attorney. The attorney will be there to represent their client at this first initial court hearing. The first court hearing consists of many different things. The first thing that happen is the investigator is called to the stand and asked questions about what happened during the investigation that were significant enough to take PC. This is a precaution step to make sure the kids were removed for a legitimate reason. At this point the judge can sign off on the order of PC or return the kids home to the perpetrator. The investigator explained this process to me prior to going into the courtroom and she said the judge never sends the kids back home. The perpetrator can be called to the stand but most of the time they are not. The next thing that is put in place is a permanency order for the child. The permanency order is put in place for temporary housing. The last thing that is filed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even if most anorexic patients deny their disorder, hospitalization is always the best way to keep the person alive by imposing weight restoration (Davison et al., 2013). Then, the cognitive behavioural therapy can come into play by reinforcing eating with a reward. According to Davison et al., (2013), disorders are the result of unconscious conflicts in the individual . The psychoanalytic paradigm concentrates on childhood and defines what the individual has been through during childhood is reflected in his/her adulthood. Davison et al., (2013) stated that anorexia nervosa disorder usually starts to develop in adolescence due to past unstable relationships between parents and the child. Indeed, being overprotective and overinvolved in the child s life by taking all the decisions for him without giving him a voice, as it is seen in the case of Karen Carpenter, lead the child to feel powerless, insecure, and have a low self esteem. A lack of control is felt by the child and is then transformed into high self control later on. Approaching adolescence, the child becomes more conscious about the society demands on appearance and as a result respect those requirements to be accepted by transforming him/herself into a thinner silhouette. This self control over a strict diet creates an identity to the individual. According to Mushatt (1983), problems in the family increase the probability to develop an eating disorder as anorexia nervosa. The roles played by the parents of Carpenter family were well defined: her mother has control over everything and her father was following her mother s commands in order to satisfy her. Concerning Karen s father, his passive behavior did not help to lower the anxiety level felt at home and to bring back stability within the family. Indeed, being a perfectionist mother does not help the child to grow up normally. The fact that Karen s mother was over controlling could also have participate in her development of the anorexia Nervosa disorder. Karen was not taking her own decision which is defines as it as an infantilizing decision making by Msuhatt (1983). As explained in her biography, Karen Carpenter did not even ...
