Essay On Growing Up
Writing an essay on the topic of "Growing Up" can be a challenging endeavor. The subject is
inherently broad and multifaceted, encompassing a range of experiences, emotions, and
perspectives. It requires a delicate balance between personal reflection and universal themes to
resonate with a diverse audience.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the fine line between introspection and relatability.
While delving into personal experiences is crucial for authenticity, it's essential to connect those
experiences to broader aspects of the human condition. This demands a level of self-awareness
and the ability to articulate complex emotions and lessons learned throughout the process of
maturation.
Furthermore, the challenge intensifies when attempting to strike the right tone. The narrative
should be engaging yet reflective, capturing the essence of the growth journey without veering
into sentimentality or clichГ©. It's a delicate dance between expressing vulnerability and
maintaining a sense of literary finesse.
Crafting a well-structured essay on growing up involves organizing thoughts coherently and
presenting them in a logical sequence. This requires careful consideration of the narrative arc,
ensuring a smooth flow that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish. Juggling the
chronological aspects of personal development with thematic exploration adds an extra layer of
complexity.
Moreover, addressing the topic's universality necessitates a nuanced approach. What may
resonate with one reader may not with another. Finding common threads that bind various
growing-up experiences while respecting individual differences demands a keen understanding
of human nature and empathy.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of growing up is no easy feat. It demands a blend of
introspection, universal insight, and literary skill to create a piece that is both personal and
universally relatable. However, for those seeking assistance with such endeavors, there are
resources available. Similar essays and more can be explored and ordered on platforms like

Synoptic Gospels Purpose
The purpose of this gospel, as stated by John himself, is to show that Jesus of
Nazareth was Christ, the Son of God, and that believers in him might have eternal
life. This purpose was one that John had in common with the men who wrote the
Synoptic Gospels, but his method for achieving it distinguishes his gospelfrom the
earlier ones. The central theme in the Synoptic Gospels is the coming of the
kingdom of God, and it was in relation to this event that the accounts were given of
the life and teachings of Jesus. The messianic character of Jesus mission was
described in terms of the miracles that he performed, his kindly attitude toward the
poor and the oppressed, his power to cast out demons and to heal the sick, and his
instructions concerning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lazarus was dead for four days, and at the call of Jesus he came back to life. For
John, an event of this kind is a most appropriate symbol of what happens to
spiritually dead people when they are receptive to the power of God made
manifest in the person of Jesus. That this story is found only in the Gospel of John
raises some questions concerning the historicity of the event, for it does not seem
at all probable that the authors of the Synoptic Gospels would have failed to relate
an event as important as this one if they had known about it. Whether John was
recording a popular tradition or writing a sequel to the story of the rich man and
Lazarus, recorded in the Gospel of Luke, we do not know. At any rate, the story in
Luke closes with the statement that those who do not believe Moses and the
prophets will not be convinced, even if a person raised from the dead should speak
to them. In John s story, someone does come from the dead, and even then the
Jews are not persuaded by what he says and does. As John interprets the story, its
deeper meaning is disclosed in a statement that Jesus makes: I am the resurrection
and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever
lives and believes in me will never die. Lazarus is typical of all human beings.
Without the indwelling presence of the Spirit of God, all human life is meaningless.
When the Spirit of God enters into our lives, we are no longer dead in a spiritual
sense but are partakers of the life that is
The Reggio Emilia Approach Essay
The Reggio Emilia Approach
Hailed by Newsweek (1991) magazine as the international role model for
preschools, the Reggio Emilia approach has caught the attention of early childhood
educators. In 1999, current Secretary of Education, Richard W. Riley visited the
schools in Reggio Emilia to better understand its benefits (Dunne, 2000). It s
principals are understood by only a few, however, and has limited following with
approximately 1200 Reggio inspired preschools in operation, most of them private
(Sipprelle, 2009), making the innovative ideas offered by this approach available to
only a few. Why have so few schools emulated those so successful in Reggio Emilia,
Italy? Is Reggio Emilia applicable in the American classroom? A look... Show more

The land was donated and so was the labor. Many of the materials were recycled from
the ruins created by the war (Source, 0000).
While there is no fixed curriculum or one specific model to emulate, the Reggio
Emilia approach does have some essential components, some fundamental ideas about
how children learn most effectively. The utmost is the idea that the young child is
inherently competent not only as a learner but as an initiator. The child has
preferences and opinions that have value and should be listened to with respect and
care, knowing that they have much to offer their classroom community and
community at large. This pedagogy plays a large role in shaping the Reggio
classroom. It allows the children to pursue projects which are interesting and
meaningful and then allowing adequate time to follow those projects with passion.
The Reggio Emilia approach is an emergent curriculum because it is developed and
shaped by the interests of the child, through negotiations between the child, parents
and teachers. This is done in a Reggio classroom by in large and small group projects
in which the children engage. The projects involve planning, hands on activities,
research, and representation through a variety of visual media. The observant teacher
collects documentation which is a vital component of the Reggio philosophy in the
form of written anecdotes, samples of children s work, photographs and videos. This
information is used to reflect on the

NINTENDO S DISRUPTIVE STRATEGY:
IMPLICATIONS FOR THE VIDEO GAME

For some time we have believed the game industry is ready for disruption.
Not just from Nintendo, but from all game developers. It is what we all need to
expand our audience. It is what we all need to expand our imaginations.
Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo Co. Ltd1
In the 2008 BusinessWeek Boston Consulting Group ranking of the world s most
innovative companies, Nintendo Co. Ltd ( Nintendo ) was ranked seventh, up from

During the period 1970 to 1985, Nintendo began focusing on the manufacture of
electronic toys and entered the budding field of video games [see Exhibit 1].
Interestingly, 1991, the year when Nintendo launched the highly popular Super NES
in the
US, was also the year that saw Nintendo s vision become Sony s opportunity and
the creation of what could be described as Nintendo s greatest challenge for over a
decade the Sony PlayStation ( PS ). Nintendo had wanted to incorporate CD ROM
into their Super
NES, and Sony had agreed to create the PS for this purpose. However, over the next
two years, conflicts of vision between Nintendo and Sony continued, and the two
finally parted ways.
Nintendo went ahead with Philips technology, 4 and Sony was left with the PS,
which the company decided to continue developing. Given Sony s clout and
resources, when the PS and its wide range of games were finally released in Japan in

For many years, Nintendo had been a dominant player in the video game industry.
It had sold more than two billion games since 1985. Its top selling series included
non violent and easyto play games such as Super Mario Bros and The Legend of

The Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Riots: The Beginning of a Movement
Throughout history, homosexuals have been persecuted for being themselves. From
the suicide of the ancient writer Sappho to Leonardo Da Vinci s arrest for sodomy ,
we can see that people have loved others of the same sex since the beginning. Only
now, in modern times, have we allowed the LGBT+ (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgender, and plus.) to be seen as equals in the eyes of the law. Yet, these strides
towards equality have not been without its sacrifices. It is believed by many that the
modern day LGBT+ movement was sparked by the Stonewall Riots. As a result, the
Stonewall riots proved to homosexuals that they were persecuted and maltreated. It
pushed those who were still reluctant, and someone whom I was quite close to, to
finally start believing that it was time to speak up for their rights.
For eons, homosexuals have lived in fear: a fear of coming out and showing the
world their true, raw selves. They have been tormented and looked down on for
living lifestyles different than the traditional way. There are numerous reasons why
homosexuals choose to keep their true selves hidden behind a forced facade.
Unfortunately, this is because of the fact that many people in the past, and present,
think lesbians and gay men have psychological problems. Thus, they are seen as a
danger to the public. Harassment of gay and lesbian people was one method used to
fight them off.
The harassment of LGBT members today is still

to release audio recordings the night of the murder to help with the investigation.
However, even with the search warrant Amazon declined and said it objected to

the government have access to our electronic devices whenever wanted? No,

Adult Development Papers
Throughout the span of this course, a big section of time was allotted for learning
about adult development. For this reason, I have decided to interview my 40 year
old father, Rick Spence, to see if he follows the basic pattern of development. The
interview is focused on four major categories of adult development, the categories are
as follows: Physical Development, Relationships and Social Development,
Educational History and Career Development, Cognitive Performance, and Views and
Attitudes Towards Aging. By going through these categories I will attempt to
determine whether my father is a developing at healthy rate, or if he is simply going
crazy.
The first category discussed was Physical Development. When asked about how his
body is physically changing, Rick stated that, I feel like I am gaining so much
weight, and I cannot get rid of it no matter how much I try to maintain it. Although
this is very concerning for Rick, it is normal part of adult ... Show more content on

When asked about how his cognitive abilities have changed, Rick reported that he
his speed on processing has declined and while he can remember everything it
often takes him longer to recall everything. This means that Rick follows the
typical pattern of being able to maintain his crystallized intelligence, or facts, but
his fluid intelligence, the ability to process problems, has declined (No author

through crossword puzzles or brain exercises. Rick stated that he has not
experienced any issues with his memory, and that the does not see a difference in
his ability in recall ad recognition. This is odd because typically adults find that will
their recognition ability is the same, their recall ability declines (Notes May 2,2017).
Finally, Rick stated that he does in fact have a family history of Alzheimer s in his

Protagonist Analysis Of Bridget Jones
Protagonist Analysis: Bridget Jones is a lonely, single, mid aged woman who sees
many things wrong with her life. She believes she is a fat, alcoholic, workaholic,
and loner. Majority of her story is her trying to get her life into some kind of order.
Her diary begins on New Year s Eve, with Bridget s resolutions. Miss. Jones faces
many challenges that steer her away from her goals. Her life revolves around
work, her sex life, and her parents. She lives the cosmopolitan life in London,
England where she works in publishing. She doesn t have hobbies, other than the
intoxicated dinners with her friends. Bridget hopes to find a new job with
potential. She lives alone and is a heavy drinker and smoker. One of her
resolutions is to stop smoking and to drink no more than fourteen alcohol units a
week (Fielding 3). Bridget s way of keeping track of her goals is her diary. Before
every entry she logs her weight, alcohol units, cigarette count, and her calorie
count. The single Bridget wishes for a sex life and this brings plenty of drama into
her life. Her parents like to encourage her to find someone so she can be happy. As
one would expect, Bridget doesn t appreciate her parents butting into her love life.

The Effects Of Cultural Backgrounds On Interpersonal...
Different cultural backgrounds can have certain effects on the interpersonal
communication between students; and how cultural diversity benefits them socially
and academically. Students expand their knowledge about other cultures by
interacting with other students of different backgrounds. In doing so, they are
growing socially and academically. According to Sarwari (2014), students that
cooperate or interact with students from other cultures gain interpersonal
communication skills, which are necessary in the workplace. Through interaction
they acquire new perspectives and a better academic life (Sarwai 2014, Ibrahim 2014,
Aziz 2014). Along the same lines as mentioned by Ramburuth, Welch (2005),
classroom diversity is an ideal source that teachers can target to assist students in
building their cross cultural competence (Ramburuth 2005, Welch 2005). Both,
Sarwari and Ramburuth, portray how students can benefit from having different
cultures within a classroom because it can give them the upper hand in a workplace
environment or a social event due to the experience they get when interacting with
individuals from other nationalities. Furthermore, stated by Taras, Rowney (2007),
students bring with them a variety of backgrounds and types of knowledge which
helps them come up with different solutions on how to approach a problem (Taras
2007, Rowney 2007). On the other hand, Ramburuth, Welch (2005) established that
through multicultural group work students are
Essay on Amy Tan’s A Mother’s Tongue
Amy Tan s A Mother s Tongue
The purpose of Amy Tan s essay, Mother Tongue, is to show how challenging it can
be if an individual is raised by a parent who speaks limited English (36) as Tan s
mother does, partially because it can result in people being judged poorly by others.
As Tan s primary care giver, her mother was a significant part of her childhood, and
she has a strong influence over Tan s writing style. Being raised by her mother taught
her that one s perception of the world is heavily based upon the language spoken at
home. Alternately, people s perceptions of one another are based largely on the
language used.
Tan was born to a pair of Chinese immigrants. Her mother understood English
extremely well, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was because her mother s version of English and its modified rules caused Tan
to be confused on some of the questions.
Tan employs cause and effect when she is talking about her experiences with IQ
tests and the SATs. The fact that her mother spoke English the way she did made it
very difficult for Tan to envision what the test was asking, as with the questions
where she could not identify one singular correct answer. In her experience with
language, maybe she had heard her mother would say something a certain way, even
though, technically, it was not grammatically correct. Her perceptions of things,
specifically the rules of language, were different because of the language used at her
home.
She also incorporates problem and solution when she is describing how she had to
talk for her mother. Her belief is that people will not take you seriously if you do
not speak proper English, and to prove this, she shows how her mother encountered
that kind of attitude often. Tan describes how she had to call the stockbroker because
her mother was concerned about not getting a check, and how the hospital would not
look for a lost CAT scan until Tan was called to mediate. Even though the mother
speaks English, Tan still needs to act as a translator.
Compare and contrast comes in to play at the very beginning of the essay when Tan
is describing her mother listening to her giving a lecture.
What Does Corinthian Mean In Chapter 13
I don t imagine that anyone would doubt that First Corinthians chapter 13 is one of
the most magnificent pieces of literature in the history of the world, not only this but
it is a key part of the Bible. The passage sets into context and defines Biblical love,
very different than what the secular would call love. This love also show s what Jesus
embodies in many, many ways. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all
things, endures all things (1 COR 13:7). It is clear that, out of love, and for the joy
set before Him Jesus died on the cross, bearing every man s sin, enduring the worst
possible death. The passage also has a specific context, which will be laid out in this
paper.

He transitions form chapter 12 and spiritual gifts in a very clear way. If I speak in
the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a
clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1). The subject of tongues is the first verse
used in chapter 13 in order to transition from chapter 12 in which the spiritual gift
of tongues was being abused and used pridefully. Paul is emphasizing that even the
best spiritual gift is not effective or useful without love. Verse two continues this
trend with Paul mentioning several other spiritual gifts such as prophecy,
knowledge, wisdom, and faith. He also uses the example of being able to move a
mountain classic example of an immovable impassable object and says that even if
it could be moved that the person who moved it would be nothing without love. He
is also possible referencing Mark 11:23, in which the Jesus said that if there is no
doubt that a mountain can be taken up and thrown into the sea. In verse three Paul
states that if he gave away all that he had, and gave up his body to be burned,
(referencing Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego), that nothing would be gained
without love. Dr. Constable notes, Paul s personal sufferings for the salvation of
others were also worthless without love . This is a tricky idea but to God, even
saving souls with the wrong motivation is still wrong and done out of the wrong
spirit. Of course, it s always great if people are saved but God sees the heart behind
the people influencing that and can still work past their immaturity. These three
verses describe with a cutting truth that without love, nothing one does is worth
anything. Paul is attacking the motives of the church of Corinth, just as Jesus
attacked the motives and hypocrisy of the

databases. Results yelled peer reviewed articles that pertain to research surrounding
diabetes education programs in reducing the A1C in patients with type 2 diabetes

The search began with the CINAHL Plus database displaying a number of 575
articles. To enhance the search process, certain limiters served as a refining tool
for selecting the most appropriate articles. The search methodology included
criteria focusing on full text that was applied to access the entire articles. Abstract
available was used as a brief relevance guideline, and if potentially relevant to the
purpose study, the full text was then in depth evaluated. Published date was
considered for evaluating the most up to dated evidences of the literature. All the
articles included in this paper were less than eight years old and published between
January 2009 and April 2016. In addition, English language was a decisive criterion
for the guided search articles. Another limiter used in the search proceeding implied

Elements Of Crime Fiction Genre
Crime fiction has set the stage for popular action and thriller movies derived from
this genre. It has not only thrilled audiences in the mid 1800s but has thrilled
generations of film enthusiasts and book worms alike. The crime fiction genre, is
exactly as it sounds. It is fictional stories based on the solving of a crime or anything
to do with crime. But in order for a story to be classed as crime fictionit must follow
key elements. The best crime fiction stories show two or more of these elements.
Agatha Christie s Murder on The Orient Express (2017), follows these key elements
well; combined with a thrilling storyline, the film makes an excellent example of
crime fiction. The story is classed as cosy crime a sub genre of crime fiction
popular in England. The film is based off of Christie s short story published in
1934. The film tells the story of a group of diverse individuals all aboard the luxury
train, the Orient Express. While aboard the train a billionaire is murdered under
mysterious circumstances. Unfortunately for the victim, amateur detective Hercule
Poirot happens to be a passenger aboard the train and is there to solve the case.
On the other end of the crime fiction genre is the hard boiled or golden age sub
genre. Hard boiled crime is more typically puzzle driven as opposed to cosy crime.
Dashiell Hammett s The Creeping Siamese is a perfect example of crime fiction once
again including most of the key elements of crime fiction. Originally

Case One: Stone v. Graham Supreme Court of the United States 449 U.S. 39
In this case, petitioner private citizens filed a suit against the superintendent of public

challenged the Kentucky state law requiring the posting of the Ten Commandments
in every public school classroom. Each plaque would be purchased with private
contributions and would have that statement, The secular application of the Ten

Western Civilization and the Common Law of the United States. The private citizens
claimed that the statue violated the First Amendment and sought an injunction

secular and it would neither advance nor inhibit any religion or religious group nor
involve the state excessively in religious matters. On appeal, the United States
Supreme Court held that the statue had no secular legislative purpose and was,
therefore, unconstitutional. The purpose for posting the Ten Commandments was
clearly religious due to the fact that they are sacred in the Jewish and Christian faiths,
therefore violating the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. This particular
case will support my argument by confirming that hanging up items on school walls

Accounting Theory Fair Value Measurement Overview After the International
Accounting Standards Board (IASB) released the IFRS 13 Fair Value
Measurement in May 2011 for the purpose of completing its joint project with the
US Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) on fair value, the Australian
Accounting Standard Board (AASB) released the Australian equivalent AASB 13
Fair Value Measurement in the September of the same year. This standard
permitted early adoption but generally started to take effect for the financial

fair value as the price that would be received to sell an asset or paid to transfer a
liability in an orderly transaction between market participants at the measurement date

How far do you agree with the opinion that courtship and marriage are undermined
and ridiculed in The Taming of the Shrew ?
Shakespeare s drama The Taming of the Shrew is set in the Elizabethan era, and
marriage and courtship was very different than how it is in the present. Back then it
was the parents who picked suitors for their daughters. This choice would be final for
the daughters but often women rebelled against the decision as they wanted to
choose their own suitors. Romeo and Juliet is an example of this. In our Taming of
the Shrew this is no different as Baptista Minola chooses the suitors in which marry
his daughters.
We first see this undermining of courtshipand marriage when Petruchio speaks of his
view on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Petruchio takes away the whole aspect of falling in love from Katherina as he
forces her to marry him and her father happily abides, will you, nill you, I will
marry you . This again makes a charade of marriage. I agree when CoppГ©lia Kahn
says The overt force Petruchio wields over Kate by marrying her against her will in
the first place, and then by denying her every wish and comfort, stamping, shouting,
reducing her to exhaustion, etc., is but a farcical representation of the psychological
realities of marriage... as the audience would definitely find it funny and is a perfect
example of Shakespeare s attempts to ridicule the sanctity of marriage.
As Robert Heilman demonstrates, the taming is best viewed as farce which carries
out our desire to simplify life by a selective anesthetizing of the whole person; man
retains all his energy yet never really gets hurt and this is shown as the drama is a
comedy of mocking the institution of marriage.
Another negative outlook against marriage and courtship is when we find of
Hortensio s plans to disguise himself as a schoolmaster well seen in music to
instruct Bianca . Lucentio also disguises himself by swapping clothes and identities
with Tranio so that he may woo Bianca secretly. This shows courtship to be a
mockery as when you court someone, you are opening up and showing the person
who you are and that you ve nothing to hide. Hortensio is doing the complete
opposite as

Dissimilar to men, it was regularly not the lady s decision regardless of whether she
needed to have youngsters. This was particularly valid for dark ladies bodies amid
a period when men could assault dark ladies and the legal framework would not
characterize it as assault. Through subjection dark female bodies were lessened to
expendable specialists alongside their regenerative capacities that were used

Being legitimately his property, she had no power over his lewd gestures. Out of
these connections, multiracial kids would be conceived with no security from the
state. Rather dark ladies and their youngsters were rebuffed for interracial coupling.
To legitimize this type of fierceness, dark ladies bodies were portrayed as being

misrepresented sexual craving of the Jezebel is clear in the generalization of the
grievous mulatto, consequently propagating the avocation of rape on blended race

Descriptive Essay About The Airport
There I was in the airport of a country that I had only ever dreamed about going to
with my heart pounding so loud I thought the person down the corridor would be
able to hear it. The first step outside of the terminal made my eyes brighten as I
gazed out at the country that I would be calling home for 4 weeks. We said
goodbye to our school group and hello to our new families. This was the first time
that I had been out of my comfort zone, to this extend anyway, so it was extremely
daunting and all I could remember thinking was I hope that they like me! My best
friend and I had been allocated to the same host family so it was a bit of relief
knowing I had someone there with me. Piling into the car it finally hit me that the
next few weeks were going to test my abilities and comfort zone but also I was
going to experience one of the oldest cultures. It was a new adventure that I was
going to be able to experience with not only myself but my closest friend. Looking
out of the car window on our journey back to their home, my eyes darted around off
the buildings, to the people and the traffic. It was like something I had never seen
before; there were cars zooming in every direction and the buildings were breath
taking. This city was nothing like I imagined, in fact it was better than I could have
dreamed. My grin stretched from ear to ear and I struggled to take in everything
that this city had to offer. If there was one reason why I took this trip, it was to get a

Emetophobia In Everyday Life
Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will. Anonymous. In the small town of
Jordan, Minnesota, a women named Krista lives there. She has emetophobia.
When she was younger, in fifth grade she had gotten sick with the torturous
stomach bug. At this time, she did not care that she vomited it was just an oh well
sort of thing. A year passed and the summer of her sixth grade year began. Krista
went with her friend Susan, to pick up her siblings from camp. While they were all
eating lunch outside at their camp, one of Susan s siblings began to vomit. Krista
began to sweat all over, she had racing thoughts about her becoming sick, or getting
puked on by one of Susan s siblings. Her thoughts were racing and she was
panicking big time. When they all started walking back to the car to head home,
Susan s other sibling began to vomit. Now Krista is beyond the panic stage and onto
the part where she starts to cry and cry because of how scared she is about getting
sick. At that moment she realized she had a fear of throwing up. Emetophobiais a
common fear which affects people s daily life. Emetophobia is the fear of vomiting. It
can occur in all ages. While some people are scared they will vomit, others are
afraid of seeing someone else vomit. In Kristas case, she had a mixture of both. She
dreaded vomiting herself, and she freaked out when she saw the traumatic event
happen. Most have trouble describing what they fear will happen if they vomit, or see
others vomit, but
Agriculture And The Agricultural Sector
The world of agriculture relies on businesses, banks and people in order to keep
farmers in business. Farmers can receive loan money for anything including cars,
restaurants, and homes, as long as they are strong enough financially to handle it in
the long run. There are loan officers who lend money to farmers in order to help the
farmers buy the things that they will need for that season and things they want for
their personal life. Agricultural loans can be put toward anything from the seeds of
the plant that the farmers will grow, to the harvesters they will use to collect the crop
yield at the end of the season. Agricultureand business are two separate careers, but
putting them together is necessary for both and allows farmers to... Show more

President Wilson recommended a system of agricultural banks to provide credit to
meet the needs of farmers. Congress responded with the Federal Farm Loan Act of
1916. During the Great Depression, farmers were unable to pay the expenses they
were faced with and many of them left their farms in defeat. Congress stepped in by
passing the Emergency Farm Mortgage Act of 1933 and the Farm Credit Act of
1933. The Farm Credit Act completely established the Farm Credit System. The FCS
was under the administration of the Farm Credit Administration. All Government
capital to the FCS was repaid by 1968, making FCS institutions wholly owned by
their farmer borrowers. FCA determined that its authorities and those of the FCS
needed to be expanded to meet the changing credit needs of farmers and rural
communities ( History of FCA and FCS , 1). Institutions of the FCS grew rapidly
in the 1970s and early 1980s and the amount of loans out equalled $80 billion.
Farmers during this boom began to borrow heavily to expand their operations in
order to meet the demand for United States agricultural exports. Inflation raised
prices on farm products and raised the value of farmland. The boom ended in 1979
due to the Federal Reserve Board trying to limit the amount of money out in order to
stop inflation. Demand for the crops quickly decreased,
The Rising Costs Of Higher Education
There is no doubt that pricing of higher education has increased, changing the
number and groups of people that are able to receive it, often being those with a
high socioeconomic status. The rising costs of many colleges cause many people to
wonder whether or not a pricier education really results in a better life (including
better/more job opportunities in the area studied). As a result, many prospective
American students are examining alternatives in hopes of reducing their debt load.
One of the ways in which they are attempting to do so is by pursuing a degree from
an institution in another country. The trends within education has changed a lot,
increasing prices, and increasing demand. There is much controversy over whether or
not students seeking further education should increase their debt load from a tens of
thousands of dollars, to hundreds, for a well known collegename and degree. Post
World War II, schools in America during the 1950s were suffering with teacher and
building shortages due to increased enrollment. With increasing demand, that also
meant that there were more things that could be influenced, especially by the
government. In the 1960s, the shortage continued, including a lot of desegregation
with both K 12 schools, and colleges. The call for more schools resulted in the
opening of community colleges; institutions that are primarily focused on students
from a particular area, often associated with a lower price tag than Ivy Leagues or

focuses of this report are the operating systems UNIX and LINUX, two very
interesting and powerful systems. The first is often labeled as too confusing and
unfriendly, the later is relatively unknown to the novice user, but surprisingly they
are very similar in design. A short history of the two operating systems may explain
why they are so similar.
UNIX is a creation out of Bell Labs in the 1960 s, in a project headed by Stephen
Bourne. The idea was to create an operating system whose kernel (core part) was as
tiny as possible. The main driving force, the small UNIX kernel, was that the
developers were doing their work on what were considered in that day to be tiny
computers. The severe limitation on RAM resulted in a small kernel with all the
utilities implemented as separate, stand alone programs. Each was itself tiny, and
designed to accept input from the preceding program as well as provide output to
succeeding programs. This process of using output from one program as input into
another is referred to as piping and is central to UNIX operating systems today

Sympathy And The Boston Massacre
Points of views are majorly impacted by different words, actions and even locations.
This is important in order to understand all the sides of a story. Meaning, that on
March 5th, 1770, when colonists and soldiers gathered on King s street, America and
Britain went to the media to present their perspectives of the tragic event. The
statements, that were similar, are as follows: the colonists used snowballs as
weapons, there was profanity from both soldiers and colonists, and lastly, around 11
soldiers were involved and two more were assaulted. Deciding what the truth was,
was difficult. Therefore, the BostonMassacre had two sides, the colonial stance and

Empathy In The Workplace
One important aspect to maintain and uphold from behalf the team is to empathize
and conveying similar sentiments when dealing with the current client. It is
imperative that we use phrases that convey the clients opinions and beliefs, although
do no admit liability, these may include phrases such as I m sorry to hear that or How
may I help? . Due to the client feeling dissatisfied and resentful about the omission in
the design the team must portray understanding and show to the client that we care,
and that our empathyis evident in order to understand what it is that the client is
requesting, this can include understanding the clients irritations or fears before

raising our voice, responding disrespectfully will only fuel and escalate the situation
rather than solve it , preferably use a monotone and try not to speak over the client

this conflict. Progression with effectively resolving this will cease until the views

Drunk And Drowsy Driving
Drunk and Drowsy Driving Happen to know anyone that has crashed or passed
away due to drunk or drowsy driving? Drunk and Drowsy driving is unsafe ways to
get on the road and begin to drive. People need to better understand the effects of
not enough sleep, drunk driving, and the DUI consequences towards that. Most
frequent times for the drowsy driving to take effect is either early in the morning
or late at night when that drowsiness is overtaking; The body s natural sleeping
period is around these times as well. Sleepiness also can peak in the middle of the
afternoon. Older adults are more likely to have a drowsy driving accident in the
mid afternoon (Drowsy Driving, page 1). There are several cases as to where the
drivers that are drowsy don t often avoid accidents and also veer off the side of the
road. These kinds of crashes though are more frequent in younger people with
children. Though it is more frequent to do this with children, it is also two times
more likely for a man to partake in this action instead of a woman. The age group
that this typically happens around can vary between 18 and 29. Not only is it
irresponsible to drive drowsy, it can be pricey too. Millions of dollars have been
awarded to families due to them being a victim of a crash in drowsy driving. The
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conservatively estimated that
100,000 police reported crashes that are the direct result of driver fatigue each year
(Page 2). There is almost no police training so they can noticeably spot out signs of
drowsy driving. More than в…“ of people have fallen asleep at the wheel and
much more than that have gotten into the car drowsy. Drowsy driving has resulted
in 1,550 deaths, 71,000 injuries, and 12.5 billion in monetary losses (page 5). Now
that the discussion of drowsy driving has passed on, we can now discuss drunk
driving and all of its terrible flaws. There are at least 28 people every day that pass
away from drunk driving whether they be the driver of the victim; this means there
is at least one person dying from this every 51 minutes. Drunk driving has fallen by
a third in the last three decades, yet we still lose over 10,000 people a year to this.

Villa Grimaldi, Santiago de Chile is the memory place where brings trauma to the
survivors and tourists. As Diana Taylor said memory, we know, is linked to

Essay on How Humanism Transformed Individuals Role
Throughout time an individual s role in which he fits into society has changed. One
of the most noticeable changes in an individual s role in society occurred during the
Italian Renaissance during the 14th and 15th centuries with the introduction of
Humanism. Humanism gave birth to the concept of individuality a notion which is
still alive today. It said that humans mattered and that now mattered, that one should
not be part of a whole but rather someone that is unique. Before Humanism people
only thought of the after life, of whether they were going to heaven or hell, but with
the introduction of Humanism people became more involved in the present, rather
then just thinking of what happened after you died. Humanism transformed... Show

They were also encouraged to study ancient societies such as the Greeks and the
Romans, believing this was the remedy for the present society. Humanism also
encouraged people to help their society by combining the talents. An example of that
can be found in Florence where three humanists served as chancellors of the city.
Coluccio Salutati, Leonardo Bruni, and Poggio Bracciolini used rhetorical skills to
encourage Florentines to revolt against the aggression of Naples and Milan. Both
Bruni and Poggio wrote flattering histories of the city. Leon Battista Alberti, another
accomplished humanist scholar, was a noted Florentine architect and builder. They
were encouraged to combine their skills in history, art, and literature in their every
day lives. This made them see the world with a different perspective, which made
them into the individuals they aspired to be. Another change that occurred during the
Italian Renaissance was the artistic perspective of this world. People were no longer
painting two dimensional art, and non logical portraits. A new technique,
chiaroscuros a technique that involved light and shadows, gave their paintings more
depth and a realistic imagery. They also made their paintings more realistic by
making the objects relative to one another. They emphasised emotions and belief in a
universe full of harmony. By encouraging

Watershed Event Research Paper
The Merriam Webster online dictionary defines watershed as a time when an
important change happens. A watershed event can be described as an event marking
an important change of course, often times one on which important changes and
developments depend. It is often referred to as a turning point. The watershed event
that I have researched is the end of apartheid. Apartheid is an Afrikaans word,
meaning the state of being apart. Apartheid was a system of racial segregation in
South Africa. This system was enforced by the NP (National Party,) the party that
governed the nation from 1948 1994. When this system was in effect, the residents
of South Africa were divided by their race, and forced to live apart from each other.
Under apartheid,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, while the segregation laws were no longer in effect, racism was still
quite prominent in the nation. While the laws changed, many people s ways of
thinking unfortunately did not. Even though people of different races were no
longer living apart from each other and using separate public facilities, that did not
change people s views. But although progress was slow, it was still happening.
South Africa has come along way since the days of apartheid, and although there is
still a long way to go, it is clear that significant change has occurred due to this

Total annual inventory management cost = annual inventory holding costs + annual
ordering/setup costs.
The formula for the economic order quantity (EOQ) is derived by developing an
expression for total annual inventory management cost, then taking its derivative with
respect to quantity Q to find its minimum point.
Total annual inventory management cost = S (D / Q*) + H (Q* / 2) where: Q* =
optimal order quantity D = demand per time period S = cost of placing an order H =
cost of holding one unit in inventory for one time period
Optimal order quantity Q* = square root of (2 D S/ H )
Number of orders placed per year = D / Q*
Average cycle inventory = Q* / 2
Time between orders = Q*/ D (expressed in years)
The optimal order quantity Q* occurs at the point where total fixed costs (eg.,
ordering costs) equal total variable costs (eg., inventory holding costs).
Example 1.
Assumption no lead time and constant demand Annual demand = 20,000 units per
year Cost/unit = $30 Order cost = $100/order Holding cost = 12% of unit cost/per
year H = .12(30) = $3.60/unit/year holding costs and demand must be in the same

Utah Lake Speech
I am writing to you today to talk about the state of Utah Lake and how to clean it
up. Utah Lake is the only lake that is easy to access without going on an hour or
longer car trip from Utah Valley. Because of that we should try and make Utah Lake
more tourist friendly and better looking. This would bring more people there and
make it a better experience to be there. In its current state Utah Lakeisn t a very
attractive destination. Utah Lake got 134,000 visits in 2017 which is pretty high
compared to other parks in Utah but it isn t that much compared the more visited
state parks. When most people think of Utah they probably think of Southern Utah.
You could have more tourists come to more places in Utah other than Southern
Utah by giving more natural options in Central and Northern Utah. Utah lake is
already a pretty nice place to go and fish but other than that there is not much else
to do. You could make it a nice place to go swimming which would bring a lot more
people than just fishers. The three main causes for Utah Lake not being an attractive
place are its high phosphorus levels, the lake being shallow, and the non native carp
living there. All of these factors work together to make Utah Lake... Show more

The solution to the carp problem is easy. You can either reward people for turning
in carp to incentivise people to not put the carp back and or you could send boats
onto the lake that fish specifically carp. The phosphorus is also pretty easy. What
you will need to do is stop all dumping into the lake to stop the phosphorus from
going up, and then adding or breeding more fish into the lake to naturally get rid of
the phosphorus. But with adding fish you will have to make sure that it doesn t upset
the balance. In conclusion the solutions are pretty easy to pull off so it you shouldn t
need to put too much energy into
The Church Of Hot Addiction
Chapter Twelve: The Church Of Hot Addiction
Patrick felt anxious right now. He was teaching his AP Chemistry class on the Smart
board about Atomic Theory. He d been on edge all day because he had ran out of
suppressants just yesterday.
It was all Pete s fault. Patrick was supposed to go on his weekend shopping last
Saturday, but Pete had decided that he wanted to drag Patrick to the mall and buy
some random ass tupperware that Pete needed for some damn reason.
Now, Patrick was situated in front of his entirely alpha class with a warm feeling
pooled in his groin area. He didn t like the eyes staring at him, wide eyed. At this
point, Patrick knew better of his students. It wasn t their fault.
Patrick glanced at the clock more than usual. He really wanted to go home and get
rid of his heat over the weekend. But he was stuck for another period to teach science
to his students that weren t giving him the most comforting look.
Patrick let out a huge sigh as the last student from fifth period exited the room. His

Essay on Dracula s Death in Bran Stroker s Novel Dracula
Dracula s Death in Bram Stroker s Novel Dracula
In Bram Stroker s infamous novel, Dracula, he tries to explain the life of the
undead, then continues to explain how to kill these creatures of the night. We find
out that you must stab a vampire in the heart with a wooden stake, and then slash
off their head. This is the only way that we are led to believe that you may be able to
kill these undead. We learn this through Stoker s vampireexpert Van Helsing, he
seems to be the most educated on the subject of the undead and creatures of the
night, otherwise known as vampires. He explains to the rest of the posse, which
consists of; Harker, Quincy, Dr. Seaward, and the Van Helsing, on how this feat must
be done. But later, in one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They went to her catacomb, when they found her they drove a wooden stake into her
heart and soon followed it up with cutting her head off and filling their mouths with
garlic. According to Van Helsing, this was the only known way to free Lucy s soul
into heaven. Dracula was not stabbed with a wooden stake, nor was he decapitated.
These were all the ways that we were led to believe that was the way you were to kill
a vampire.
Dracula s death left many questions unanswered. He turned into a pile of dust,
which he could have merely shape shifted into. Mina s marks had disappeared,
Dracula was the head vampire he is sure to have special powers like; being able to
turn into mist, fog, etc., and Mina seemed to return to normal, just another power.
As we went through the novel, Lucy needed to be decapitated and stabbed, and
three female vampires at Dracula s castle needed to be decapitated, to be killed. If
all of these vampires, who were far less powerful than Dracula, had to be killed in
this way, then why would it only take a simple Bowie knife to kill the lead
vampire? This is the true mystery of the novel. I believe he Dracula has all these
powers, why would it take much less to kill him? We have seen him turn into fog
and what not, so how he could not turn into dust to escape is not unreasonable. He
used his shape shifting powers to get out of another life threatening situation, and
therefore is still alive when the novel ends. The novel is informative parts on
Professionalism
Professionalism What does Professionalism mean to me? Professionalism in my
term means it is someone who is very dedicated to their profession. It is an
important and great decision to follow by the rules and ethics of professionalism.
If we did not have anyone that cared about their profession it would cause a lot of
problems in our society today. It could cause a lot of disruption in your workplace.
In order to abide by professionalism you must take pride in your job, percieve
realistic goals and values, and know what your expectations are. When being a
professional you must conduct yourself in a professional manner. You must learn
how to treat others with respect and be loyal to yourself and your team.

Maintaining your military bearing is the similar as being professional, But also
has another definition to it, it means you are a soldier and should act like one at all
times (being professional). Also it states that if you act unprofessional you are
displaying to the world that the military is unprofessional. This is why you must
maintain professional at all times cause you are the face of the military.
Perception is reality in a lot of peoples eyes, that is a big deal in the military. In
search of being professional you must, and I quote cross all your T s and dot all
your I s . Believe it or not a lot of individuals do not know how to become and
maintain being professional. This is a perfect to quote lead by example , be an
example for others to learn from you and you could always learn from others. If
you are not learning something every day you are wasting your own time. Its
always a perfect time to learn and today I learned about professionalism. From a bit
of research through internet and a few friends, and also from what I know and have
experienced from day to day. A lot of issues I have been through could of been
solved by just using some professionalism, for example, thinking before I reacted to
certain situations and conversations. Always carry yourself professional and people
will think much more highly about you and the way they percieve you. Even the little
things count, like making sure that you laces are
Sun Observation Grid Report
Purpose
This study recorded the position of the Sun over the course of a day, on three
different occasions each one month apart. Then compare how the daily motion of
the Sun changes throughout the course of a year. To measure the course of the
Sun a roofing nail is placed on a paper and the end of the shadow is recoded over
the length of the day. Starting the recording at approximately 10am and ending
around 6pm. Methodology The site choosing was a lot near my apartment. It was
chosen because it had a lot of open area, flat land, and there were not a lot of trees or
people around to obstruct the view of the sky. The open area made it easier to find a
flat area to lay my paper on. The flat land helped so that there would be fewer

This is represents the shortening of the daylight and the early setting of the Sun as it
gets closer to winter.
1.How do the tracks observed for the three different days compare?
a.They all have a similar pattern, but the length of the observations between hours
gets shorter through the months.
2.From what you know about the path of the Sun across the sky, can you explain the
differences between the paths of the Sun on the horizontal sundial for the three
observations?
a.When the Sun is directly above the nail it makes a smaller shadow. When the Sun
is low in the sky shadows become longer. Since winter is coming the shadows
recorded become farther away from the nail and shorter in length from hour to hour
because of the loss of daylight and the time its recorded.
3.How would changing of the location where the observations are made (for example
Caracas, Venezuela) affect the path of the Sun on the horizontal plane Sundial?
a.Caracas, Venezuela is near the equator. The daylight time does not change near the
equator. All year round the amount of daylight, and night time are the same. This
would make every observation nearly the same instead of mine which are different

Southern Guilt Essay
Guilt is an inevitable effect of slavery. For no matter how much rhetoric and racism
is poured into such a system, the simple fact remains that men are enslaving men.
Regardless of how much inferior a slaveholder may perceive his slaves, it is
obvious that his property looks similar, has similar needs, and has similar feelings.
There is thus the necessary comparison of situations; the slaveholder is free, the
slaves in bondage certainly a position that the slaveholder would find most
disagreeable. So there is no doubt that any slaveholder with any measure of humanity
within himself would feel guilt. And in fact, as the evidence is considered including
the proslavery propaganda the reality of southern guilt is overwhelmingly... Show

The only answer for this can be because Leubal was motivated by some internal
need to help her because of her humanity. He felt it was somehow his duty to keep
her because she was a human being and he identified with her suffering. She
suffered because she was a slave, and because he was a crucial element of the
system that hurt her so, Leubal felt obliged to make amends. At his personal
economic expense, he decided to ease his conscience and do something that would
be out of the ordinary for any slaveholder of the time. To alleviate his guilt, he offered
humanity. Leubal was a slaveholder whose conscience would not let him treat
humans as property.2
It is possible to argue that Leubal was simply a kind man, an aberration to the
society of slaveholding men. However, if we examine him closely, we will see that
his kindness toward Jeanette could not be applied universally, because it would
cause an economic disaster. So his action is most realistically viewed as a special
circumstance. Leubal kept slaves to make money, but he certainly deplored certain
aspects of slavery, and because he contributed to the system, those aspects were partly
his responsibility. To accept the peculiar institution, he had to redeem it by easing the
weight of its pain upon him the pain of guilt.
Likewise, a letter from a slave, Eavans McCrery, to his mistress shows that he is
being treated more as an equal than as property. 3 He has been taught to read by a
Naturalistic Observation Report
Naturalistic Observation What did you observe in the first time period? (give
brief description of the topic and what you observed) I chose to observe how
people conduct their body, eyes and hands when talking to others. With teenagers
being one of the most technological obsessed age groups they have been known to
be lacking in basic people skills. I wanted to observe for myself to find out how
true this statement really is. How did you decide you observe it? I choose the
same location as part B, The quad. Because it is a frequent area for students to hang
out in, therefore I was easily able to find people engaging in conversations. What
conclusions can you make from these observations? When people are really engaged
in a conversation most show it by using hand gestures and by making eye contact
with the other person. I did notice this with a few of... Show more content on

What was the topic of your observations? Why did you select this topic? My second
topic is slightly related to my first one that I chose in that I chose to observe how
people conducted themselves. I decided to calculate the percentage of people who
were engaged in a conversation, and who were on their own who were distracted
by their phones. How did you operationalize your observed behaviour? The easiest
way to conduct and operationalize the topic was to be in a crowded area, so I
decided to sit in the quad between classes since it s the most popular area for
people to be walking by or just hanging out. This is because the more people you
see, the bigger the variety of people you get and therefore the more accurate your
information will be. To get a number out of my observation I decided to take a tally
of the people that I saw on their own and in groups who were on their phones. What

Citizen Kane, Directed By Orson Welles
Often regarded as one of the best films of all time by AFI, IMDb and film critic
Roger Ebert, Citizen Kane, is a movie directed, co authored, produced and starred
by Orson Welles and released in 1941. The film follows a series of flashbacks to
solve a mystery, and is based upon newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. The
movies subtle comparison between the fictional protagonist, Charles Foster Kane
(played by Orson Welles) and William Randolph Hearstleads Hearst to ban any
mention of the movie in his newspapers. Citizen Kaneshows the harsh realities of the
lack of ethics in journalism as well as yellow journalism s effect on public
perception and politics that is ever present to this day. Citizen Kane begins with a
shot of Charles Foster Kane on his deathbed where he utters his last word Rosebud
. Kane s death is sensational world wide news and a newsreel producer tasks a man
by the name of Jerry Thompson to find out the meaning of the word Rosebud .
Thompson begins his quest by interviewing friends of Kane, who tell the life of
Kane through flashbacks. Thompson first meets Kane s second ex wife Susan
Alexander Kane, who is now an alcoholic at her own club. Susan refuses to tell
anything to Thompson. As a result, Thompson goes to the private archive of Walter
Parks Thatcher, the late caretaker of Kane during Kane s early years. Through
Thatcher s memoirs Thompson learns of Kane s childhood. Kane was born on a
farm where a recently discovered gold mine lay. Kane s
Touch Football Essay
Part One
Touch Football is a team sport consisting of two teams of 6 players on the field at a
given time. It is a high intensity game, involving bursts of maximal speed and power.
During a game of Touch Football, all three energy systems work towards energy
production required for muscular contractions, however one energy system will
always be dominant and will be determined by the intensity and duration of the effort
performed.
The ATP CP system, fuelled by Creatine Phosphate (CP), is dominant at intensities
above 95% of maximum heart rate (MHR) for durations up to 10 seconds. This
system would have been dominant during the 11 entries into speed zone 4 where the
player sprinted above 18km/hr (Appendix 2). These quick bursts of speed may ...

This can be measured by the 20m shuttle run, where the scores achieved by an elite
male and female player were 12.8 and 10.8 respectively (Appendix 2). This higher
relative VO2 maximum of males is due to cardiac hypertrophy (larger and stronger
heart), which increases stroke volume per beat, consequently increasing oxygen
circulation. Therefore, male players have a greater aerobic capacity, delaying
fatigue and enabling faster recovery between repeated maximal efforts. This is
important in Touch Football, which requires many quick bursts of sprinting, with
minimal recovery time. The male players spent an average of 20:41 minutes on
field in comparison to 18:17 minutes spent by female players (Appendix 2), yet
men subbed more frequently (12 average subs in males versus 11 in females)
(Appendix 2). Therefore, they spent less time off field recovering per sub (1:56
minutes) compared to women (2:15 minutes) (Appendix 2). By having a higher VO2
maximum, more oxygen is available to replenish CP stores and clear blood lactate,
proving that males with a higher VO2 maximum recovered at a faster rate, therefore
spent less time recovering per sub. Hence, they can perform a greater number of high
intensity efforts in the game such as repetitively sprinting to ruck, thus improving
Case Study Kyle s Vo2 Max
Discussion Questions:
1.Kyle performed a VO2 max test in which each stage lasted 2.5 minutes. He
achieved his highest VO2 during the 4th stage at time 8:10min. His highest VO2
(L/min) recorded was 2.627. Peak heart rate (162bpm) was during the time in
which he achieved his highest VO2 along with his highest VCO2 (3.457L/min) at
8:10min. The data collected showing 2.627L/min is Kyle s VO2 peak. VO2 max
is described as a maintenance or slight decline of VO2 with an increase in exercise
intensity. Since Kyle did not have an opportunity to increase intensity, in the form of
Watts, we could not determine if his peak VO2 was a true VO2 max. His
termination of the test was mostly likely due to peripheral fatigue by a cause of
blood lactate buildup, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends the use of 40%,
60%, 80%, and 85% of maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) as target values in
developing exercise prescriptions. Further, the ACSM states that 55%, 70%, 85%, and
90% of maximal heart rate (HRmax) may be used as indices of these respective
levels of % VO2max for the general population. The current study evaluated this
relationship between %HRmax and %VO2max in apparently healthy, young
adults. Eighty one men and 81 women between the ages of 18 and 34 engaged in
an incremental exercise test to exhaustion. Linear regressions of %HRmax and
%VO2max were performed on each subject. From these regressions, target values
of %HRmax were computed for each individual. Mean percentages of HRmax
were 63%, 76%, 89%, and 92% at 40%, 60%, 80%, and 85% of VO2max,
respectively. At all of these values of %VO2max, the values obtained for %HRmax
were significantly greater (P 0.001) than those used by the ACSM. Fitness affected
these results, particularly among men. High fit men averaged 2% higher in
%HRmax than low fit men at any given value of %VO2max (Swain et al., 1994).
Swain et al., (1994) relates to this laboratory because it shows the relationship
between heart rate and VO2 max. It allowed me to further my knowledge about
how we use VO2 max to predict heart rate. We then can set a target rate based on the
data received from a VO2 max test. (Swain et al.,
Apple Inc. in 2010
Key Success Factors There are several key success factors for Apple, Inc. that have
made it successful in the markets that it competes in. First, the company is constantly
coming up with new and creative innovations. In the personal computer industry, it
created MacBooks in 2009. In the personal media player industry Apple created the
iPod. This followed with the creation of the itunes store, which catapulted iPod sales.
This was due to the fact that consumers could download and store music, movies, and
applications and use iTunes in conjunction with the iPod. In 2007, Apple entered the
smartphone industry by launching the iPhone. Finally, in 2010, Apple introduced the

KSFs in the future Many of the traits that will be required of companies to be
successful in the future of these industries point will remain the same. Technology is
all relative. It is constantly evolving and improving, but the principles remain the
same. Innovation is very important. Apple may run into problems given that it has
begun to simply churn out updated versions of previous products. Companies will
still have to make sure that products are still very consumer friendly. Apple is
positioned well in this element of cause of people s greater familiarity with Apple
products. Apple seems to be well aware of this familiarity and continues to keep its
user programs similar in newer products, while still meeting consumer demand for
more options in products. Likewise, style will always be a very important driver in
the industries that Apple is competitive in. To stay atop these various industries,
Apple must continue to launch products that are stylish and fashionable. Industry
Changes The first industry change is that Samsung has begun to dominate the smart
phone industry, gaining a 46 percent share in the last quarter if 2012 (Brandon, 2013).
Apple will have to make some changes or Samsung s dominance will continue.

comparison of the Met and Guggenheim Essay
New York City has been called the greatest city in the world numerous times by its
own people and visitors to the city. New York is civilization s greatest world within
a city. It gives the overpowering impression of being a magnet and mirror for all of
humanity and all that humanity does. For a city so young, New York is home to
number of architectural classics. Two of these masterpieces of architecture are the
Metropolitan Museumof Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Both continue the
metaphor of New York being a world within a world and possess the latent fusion of
form and function, one dependent on the other. The Metropolitan Museum is the
epitome of neo Classical style while the Guggenheim is a modernist powerhouse.

The Met and the Guggenheim possess two of the most famous museum façade s
in the world. Upon first glance at the Guggenheim Museum, one is both impressed
and intrigued by its design (pictures 1 4). It is an organic form that derives its
source from Central Park located just opposite. The best impression of the structure
is obtained from just across the street (picture 1). The attention to detail is evident
everywhere the circular pattern of the sidewalk outside the museum, the porthole like
windows on its south side (picture 4), and the smoothness of the hand plastered
concrete. The main component on the west façade (facing Fifth Ave) is represented
by an upward spiraling helix (pictures 1 3). Horizontal lines are stressed throughout
the exterior, with the museum being longer than it is tall. There are very few corners,
with smoothness and blending of form the focus. The museum gives an impression of
stacked shapes with its long horizontal base, the viewing room capped by a steel
structure on the north façade, the spiraling helix
Causes of French Revolution Essay
Introduction
There are plenty of speculations concerning why there was a French Revolution and
plenty of articles and books written on the subject of why did France revolutionize?
Was it because France was following in the footsteps of the Americans and rebelling
against a negligent monarch or was it because it was time for a reformation in
France? Perhaps it was none of those reasons but because of a language sweeping that
nation of France that calls the bourgeoisie, the foundation of the nation that was
France, into action. Maybe the French Revolution began simply because the city
dwelling bourgeoisie overthrew the empowered nobility and monarchy, which is what
most speculations, ultimately leads to. However, all of these assumptions ... Show

King Louis XVI had gotten into and involved in wars that he could not financially
back, one of which was the American War for Independence fought against Britain.
France, who was already in the thick of a financial deficit, getting involved only
caused the country to go deeper into debt. Frances financial situation in the late
1700s was inevitable, what with the bad decisions made by the old regime,
especially the parlement. Frances economic situation was the foundation and the
beginning of a series of events that had led France to the brink of revolution and the
end of the Old Regime.
The Old Regime in France is a major reason behind the start of the French
Revolution, because it caused stirrings in the lower classes and rebellions as they
were burdened with the brunt of the debt as well and starvation across Frances
borders while the upper classes were cushioned. In this portion of the essay, the old
regime, the economic crisis France found itself in, and the effects of both on the
bourgeoisie, and the failed attempts at reformation will be examined in reference to
the cause of the French Revolution.
King Louis XVI and Debt
The monarch, King Louis XVI, came into power in 1774 in the midst of an already
substantial financial debt. He made promises to the people concerning the financial
crisis and until he called the estates general in 1789, had appointed several men in
charge of finding solutions to the financial crisis
Family Structures Are Changing The Face of America
As time had progressed the definition of a family has changed drastically. What one
would have considered a family in early centuries has truthfully changed from what
one would consider a family in today s society. During earlier centuries a family
consisted of a father, mother and their children; however that is no longer the case for
most families in American society today. In American society families are defined in
many different facets such as the traditional family, blended families, single parent
homes and homosexual families. Regardless of the components of the family, one
must understand that a family is a unit in which there is an adult providing the basic
needs and wants of the children in which they have been entrusted. As time
progresses America will continue to define and enhance the definition of the term
family. Although society may continue to change and enhance the definition of
society the traditional family structure that America was known for is slowly fading
away as the concept of blended, single parent and homosexual families become the
new norm for lives of many Americans.
Years ago in American society family structure were referred to as a traditional
family which was composed of a mother, father, and their children. Many older and
religious families in America believe that the traditional family structure is the ideal
way to live, however, the concept of the traditional family has greatly diminished
over the years. The idea of religion playing

Collateral Damage with the Frontier Resource Group
Have you considered what would happen if we acted on our own conscience and did
what we thought was right? Think about the impact that would occur on others
around us. The US has several groups of privatized military men that engage in
military tactics around the world. Where collateral fallout and world conflict arise,
the privatized military group known as Frontier Resource Group conducts military
missions. Mercenary, Erik Prince, founder of the privatized military organization
known as Frontier Resource Group, used his navy seal background and
information obtained from the CIA to carry out his own reconnaissance missions.
War torn countries like Somalia, South Sudan, and central Africa are just a few
countries that Frontier Resource group left devastated with the clear objective that
Prince was a war profiteer. Erik Prince integrates his own military evaluations, war
tactic, and analysis, to inflict harm and sell firearms to enemies in devastated war
torn countries. Building roads and investing in airstrips for some of the poorest
regions in Africa seems like a legitimate business turn around for a war profiteer
like Erik Prince. Recently, Prince made a 105 million dollar deal with Citic, an
advertising firm based in Hong Kong, for transporting equipment and provided
security in and around some of Africa s most dangerous regions. (Feith) His
privatized military group, planned operations in specific geographical locations to

Essay On Growing Up. Girls growing up without a father essay

  • 1. Essay On Growing Up Writing an essay on the topic of "Growing Up" can be a challenging endeavor. The subject is inherently broad and multifaceted, encompassing a range of experiences, emotions, and perspectives. It requires a delicate balance between personal reflection and universal themes to resonate with a diverse audience. One of the difficulties lies in navigating the fine line between introspection and relatability. While delving into personal experiences is crucial for authenticity, it's essential to connect those experiences to broader aspects of the human condition. This demands a level of self-awareness and the ability to articulate complex emotions and lessons learned throughout the process of maturation. Furthermore, the challenge intensifies when attempting to strike the right tone. The narrative should be engaging yet reflective, capturing the essence of the growth journey without veering into sentimentality or clichГ©. It's a delicate dance between expressing vulnerability and maintaining a sense of literary finesse. Crafting a well-structured essay on growing up involves organizing thoughts coherently and presenting them in a logical sequence. This requires careful consideration of the narrative arc, ensuring a smooth flow that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish. Juggling the chronological aspects of personal development with thematic exploration adds an extra layer of complexity. Moreover, addressing the topic's universality necessitates a nuanced approach. What may resonate with one reader may not with another. Finding common threads that bind various growing-up experiences while respecting individual differences demands a keen understanding of human nature and empathy. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of growing up is no easy feat. It demands a blend of introspection, universal insight, and literary skill to create a piece that is both personal and universally relatable. However, for those seeking assistance with such endeavors, there are resources available. Similar essays and more can be explored and ordered on platforms like HelpWriting.net. • 2. Synoptic Gospels Purpose The purpose of this gospel, as stated by John himself, is to show that Jesus of Nazareth was Christ, the Son of God, and that believers in him might have eternal life. This purpose was one that John had in common with the men who wrote the Synoptic Gospels, but his method for achieving it distinguishes his gospelfrom the earlier ones. The central theme in the Synoptic Gospels is the coming of the kingdom of God, and it was in relation to this event that the accounts were given of the life and teachings of Jesus. The messianic character of Jesus mission was described in terms of the miracles that he performed, his kindly attitude toward the poor and the oppressed, his power to cast out demons and to heal the sick, and his instructions concerning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lazarus was dead for four days, and at the call of Jesus he came back to life. For John, an event of this kind is a most appropriate symbol of what happens to spiritually dead people when they are receptive to the power of God made manifest in the person of Jesus. That this story is found only in the Gospel of John raises some questions concerning the historicity of the event, for it does not seem at all probable that the authors of the Synoptic Gospels would have failed to relate an event as important as this one if they had known about it. Whether John was recording a popular tradition or writing a sequel to the story of the rich man and Lazarus, recorded in the Gospel of Luke, we do not know. At any rate, the story in Luke closes with the statement that those who do not believe Moses and the prophets will not be convinced, even if a person raised from the dead should speak to them. In John s story, someone does come from the dead, and even then the Jews are not persuaded by what he says and does. As John interprets the story, its deeper meaning is disclosed in a statement that Jesus makes: I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Lazarus is typical of all human beings. Without the indwelling presence of the Spirit of God, all human life is meaningless. When the Spirit of God enters into our lives, we are no longer dead in a spiritual sense but are partakers of the life that is
  • 3. The Reggio Emilia Approach Essay The Reggio Emilia Approach Hailed by Newsweek (1991) magazine as the international role model for preschools, the Reggio Emilia approach has caught the attention of early childhood educators. In 1999, current Secretary of Education, Richard W. Riley visited the schools in Reggio Emilia to better understand its benefits (Dunne, 2000). It s principals are understood by only a few, however, and has limited following with approximately 1200 Reggio inspired preschools in operation, most of them private (Sipprelle, 2009), making the innovative ideas offered by this approach available to only a few. Why have so few schools emulated those so successful in Reggio Emilia, Italy? Is Reggio Emilia applicable in the American classroom? A look... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The land was donated and so was the labor. Many of the materials were recycled from the ruins created by the war (Source, 0000). While there is no fixed curriculum or one specific model to emulate, the Reggio Emilia approach does have some essential components, some fundamental ideas about how children learn most effectively. The utmost is the idea that the young child is inherently competent not only as a learner but as an initiator. The child has preferences and opinions that have value and should be listened to with respect and care, knowing that they have much to offer their classroom community and community at large. This pedagogy plays a large role in shaping the Reggio classroom. It allows the children to pursue projects which are interesting and meaningful and then allowing adequate time to follow those projects with passion. The Reggio Emilia approach is an emergent curriculum because it is developed and shaped by the interests of the child, through negotiations between the child, parents and teachers. This is done in a Reggio classroom by in large and small group projects in which the children engage. The projects involve planning, hands on activities, research, and representation through a variety of visual media. The observant teacher collects documentation which is a vital component of the Reggio philosophy in the form of written anecdotes, samples of children s work, photographs and videos. This information is used to reflect on the
  • 4. Nintendo ALI FARHOOMAND NINTENDO S DISRUPTIVE STRATEGY: IMPLICATIONS FOR THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY For some time we have believed the game industry is ready for disruption. Not just from Nintendo, but from all game developers. It is what we all need to expand our audience. It is what we all need to expand our imaginations. Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo Co. Ltd1 In the 2008 BusinessWeek Boston Consulting Group ranking of the world s most innovative companies, Nintendo Co. Ltd ( Nintendo ) was ranked seventh, up from 39th the previous year. 2 This recognised Nintendo s significant transformation into an innovative design powerhouse that had challenged the prevailing business model of the video game industry. In 2000, when Sony, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the period 1970 to 1985, Nintendo began focusing on the manufacture of electronic toys and entered the budding field of video games [see Exhibit 1]. Interestingly, 1991, the year when Nintendo launched the highly popular Super NES in the US, was also the year that saw Nintendo s vision become Sony s opportunity and the creation of what could be described as Nintendo s greatest challenge for over a decade the Sony PlayStation ( PS ). Nintendo had wanted to incorporate CD ROM into their Super NES, and Sony had agreed to create the PS for this purpose. However, over the next two years, conflicts of vision between Nintendo and Sony continued, and the two finally parted ways. Nintendo went ahead with Philips technology, 4 and Sony was left with the PS, which the company decided to continue developing. Given Sony s clout and resources, when the PS and its wide range of games were finally released in Japan in 1994, the console was an instant resounding success. In 1995, Sony released the PS in the US, totally uprooting Nintendo s established name in the industry. For many years, Nintendo had been a dominant player in the video game industry. It had sold more than two billion games since 1985. Its top selling series included non violent and easyto play games such as Super Mario Bros and The Legend of Zelda. The huge success of its games portfolio could be attributed to its appeal to all age groups across different
  • 5. The Stonewall Riots The Stonewall Riots: The Beginning of a Movement Throughout history, homosexuals have been persecuted for being themselves. From the suicide of the ancient writer Sappho to Leonardo Da Vinci s arrest for sodomy , we can see that people have loved others of the same sex since the beginning. Only now, in modern times, have we allowed the LGBT+ (Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, and plus.) to be seen as equals in the eyes of the law. Yet, these strides towards equality have not been without its sacrifices. It is believed by many that the modern day LGBT+ movement was sparked by the Stonewall Riots. As a result, the Stonewall riots proved to homosexuals that they were persecuted and maltreated. It pushed those who were still reluctant, and someone whom I was quite close to, to finally start believing that it was time to speak up for their rights. For eons, homosexuals have lived in fear: a fear of coming out and showing the world their true, raw selves. They have been tormented and looked down on for living lifestyles different than the traditional way. There are numerous reasons why homosexuals choose to keep their true selves hidden behind a forced facade. Unfortunately, this is because of the fact that many people in the past, and present, think lesbians and gay men have psychological problems. Thus, they are seen as a danger to the public. Harassment of gay and lesbian people was one method used to fight them off. The harassment of LGBT members today is still
  • 6. Persuasive Essay On The Relationship Between Bates And Jones In this day in age technology is all around us and is constantly evolving. However, as technology advances, so does its uses and not always for the better. On November 22, 2015, James Bates is accused of murdering his friend Victor Collins when police discover Collins body in Bates home. After searching his home, police find out that Bates had Amazon s Alexa and used a search warrant to ask Amazon to release audio recordings the night of the murder to help with the investigation. However, even with the search warrant Amazon declined and said it objected to overbroad or otherwise inappropriate demands as a matter of course . Is it fair to let the government have access to our electronic devices whenever wanted? When people are in a fight for their life they will do anything to survive. In many cases the culprit has markings on their body left from the victim s struggle. If not on the body of the culprit there are usually marks or signs on the victim s body showing cause of death and many other signs such as how long ago they were killed. In bates case Collins body showed signs of being strangled and held underwater, it including cuts on an eyelid, a bloodied nose, and swollen lips (Sean Gallagher). • 7. Adult Development Papers Throughout the span of this course, a big section of time was allotted for learning about adult development. For this reason, I have decided to interview my 40 year old father, Rick Spence, to see if he follows the basic pattern of development. The interview is focused on four major categories of adult development, the categories are as follows: Physical Development, Relationships and Social Development, Educational History and Career Development, Cognitive Performance, and Views and Attitudes Towards Aging. By going through these categories I will attempt to determine whether my father is a developing at healthy rate, or if he is simply going crazy. The first category discussed was Physical Development. When asked about how his body is physically changing, Rick stated that, I feel like I am gaining so much weight, and I cannot get rid of it no matter how much I try to maintain it. This is very common for people in their forties, and it is possible to reverse through crossword puzzles or brain exercises. Rick stated that he has not experienced any issues with his memory, and that the does not see a difference in his ability in recall ad recognition. This is odd because typically adults find that will their recognition ability is the same, their recall ability declines (Notes May 2,2017). Different cultural backgrounds can have certain effects on the interpersonal communication between students; and how cultural diversity benefits them socially and academically. Students expand their knowledge about other cultures by interacting with other students of different backgrounds. In doing so, they are growing socially and academically. According to Sarwari (2014), students that cooperate or interact with students from other cultures gain interpersonal communication skills, which are necessary in the workplace. Through interaction they acquire new perspectives and a better academic life (Sarwai 2014, Ibrahim 2014, Aziz 2014). Along the same lines as mentioned by Ramburuth, Welch (2005), classroom diversity is an ideal source that teachers can target to assist students in building their cross cultural competence (Ramburuth 2005, Welch 2005). Both, Sarwari and Ramburuth, portray how students can benefit from having different cultures within a classroom because it can give them the upper hand in a workplace environment or a social event due to the experience they get when interacting with individuals from other nationalities. Furthermore, stated by Taras, Rowney (2007), students bring with them a variety of backgrounds and types of knowledge which helps them come up with different solutions on how to approach a problem (Taras 2007, Rowney 2007). On the other hand, Ramburuth, Welch (2005) established that through multicultural group work students are
  • 10. Essay on Amy Tan’s A Mother’s Tongue Amy Tan s A Mother s Tongue The purpose of Amy Tan s essay, Mother Tongue, is to show how challenging it can be if an individual is raised by a parent who speaks limited English (36) as Tan s mother does, partially because it can result in people being judged poorly by others. As Tan s primary care giver, her mother was a significant part of her childhood, and she has a strong influence over Tan s writing style. Being raised by her mother taught her that one s perception of the world is heavily based upon the language spoken at home. Alternately, people s perceptions of one another are based largely on the language used. Tan was born to a pair of Chinese immigrants. Her mother understood English extremely well, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was because her mother s version of English and its modified rules caused Tan to be confused on some of the questions. Tan employs cause and effect when she is talking about her experiences with IQ tests and the SATs. The fact that her mother spoke English the way she did made it very difficult for Tan to envision what the test was asking, as with the questions where she could not identify one singular correct answer. In her experience with language, maybe she had heard her mother would say something a certain way, even though, technically, it was not grammatically correct. Her perceptions of things, specifically the rules of language, were different because of the language used at her home. She also incorporates problem and solution when she is describing how she had to talk for her mother. Her belief is that people will not take you seriously if you do not speak proper English, and to prove this, she shows how her mother encountered that kind of attitude often. Tan describes how she had to call the stockbroker because her mother was concerned about not getting a check, and how the hospital would not look for a lost CAT scan until Tan was called to mediate. Even though the mother speaks English, Tan still needs to act as a translator. Compare and contrast comes in to play at the very beginning of the essay when Tan is describing her mother listening to her giving a lecture.

What Does Corinthian Mean In Chapter 13 I don t imagine that anyone would doubt that First Corinthians chapter 13 is one of the most magnificent pieces of literature in the history of the world, not only this but it is a key part of the Bible. The passage sets into context and defines Biblical love, very different than what the secular would call love. This love also show s what Jesus embodies in many, many ways. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things (1 COR 13:7). It is clear that, out of love, and for the joy set before Him Jesus died on the cross, bearing every man s sin, enduring the worst possible death. The passage also has a specific context, which will be laid out in this paper. Context Paul was writing to the Corinthian s in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He transitions form chapter 12 and spiritual gifts in a very clear way. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1). The subject of tongues is the first verse used in chapter 13 in order to transition from chapter 12 in which the spiritual gift of tongues was being abused and used pridefully. Paul is emphasizing that even the best spiritual gift is not effective or useful without love. Verse two continues this trend with Paul mentioning several other spiritual gifts such as prophecy, knowledge, wisdom, and faith. He also uses the example of being able to move a mountain classic example of an immovable impassable object and says that even if it could be moved that the person who moved it would be nothing without love. He is also possible referencing Mark 11:23, in which the Jesus said that if there is no doubt that a mountain can be taken up and thrown into the sea. In verse three Paul states that if he gave away all that he had, and gave up his body to be burned, (referencing Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego), that nothing would be gained without love. Dr. Constable notes, Paul s personal sufferings for the salvation of others were also worthless without love . This is a tricky idea but to God, even saving souls with the wrong motivation is still wrong and done out of the wrong spirit. Of course, it s always great if people are saved but God sees the heart behind the people influencing that and can still work past their immaturity. These three verses describe with a cutting truth that without love, nothing one does is worth anything. Paul is attacking the motives of the church of Corinth, just as Jesus attacked the motives and hypocrisy of the

  • 13. Elements Of Crime Fiction Genre Crime fiction has set the stage for popular action and thriller movies derived from this genre. It has not only thrilled audiences in the mid 1800s but has thrilled generations of film enthusiasts and book worms alike. The crime fiction genre, is exactly as it sounds. It is fictional stories based on the solving of a crime or anything to do with crime. But in order for a story to be classed as crime fictionit must follow key elements. The best crime fiction stories show two or more of these elements. Agatha Christie s Murder on The Orient Express (2017), follows these key elements well; combined with a thrilling storyline, the film makes an excellent example of crime fiction. The story is classed as cosy crime a sub genre of crime fiction popular in England. The film is based off of Christie s short story published in 1934. The film tells the story of a group of diverse individuals all aboard the luxury train, the Orient Express. While aboard the train a billionaire is murdered under mysterious circumstances. Unfortunately for the victim, amateur detective Hercule Poirot happens to be a passenger aboard the train and is there to solve the case. On the other end of the crime fiction genre is the hard boiled or golden age sub genre. Hard boiled crime is more typically puzzle driven as opposed to cosy crime. Dashiell Hammett s The Creeping Siamese is a perfect example of crime fiction once again including most of the key elements of crime fiction. Originally

Shakespeare s drama The Taming of the Shrew is set in the Elizabethan era, and marriage and courtship was very different than how it is in the present. Back then it was the parents who picked suitors for their daughters. This choice would be final for the daughters but often women rebelled against the decision as they wanted to choose their own suitors. Romeo and Juliet is an example of this. In our Taming of the Shrew this is no different as Baptista Minola chooses the suitors in which marry his daughters. Petruchio takes away the whole aspect of falling in love from Katherina as he forces her to marry him and her father happily abides, will you, nill you, I will marry you . This again makes a charade of marriage. I agree when CoppГ©lia Kahn says The overt force Petruchio wields over Kate by marrying her against her will in the first place, and then by denying her every wish and comfort, stamping, shouting, reducing her to exhaustion, etc., is but a farcical representation of the psychological realities of marriage... as the audience would definitely find it funny and is a perfect example of Shakespeare s attempts to ridicule the sanctity of marriage. As Robert Heilman demonstrates, the taming is best viewed as farce which carries out our desire to simplify life by a selective anesthetizing of the whole person; man retains all his energy yet never really gets hurt and this is shown as the drama is a comedy of mocking the institution of marriage. Another negative outlook against marriage and courtship is when we find of Hortensio s plans to disguise himself as a schoolmaster well seen in music to instruct Bianca . Lucentio also disguises himself by swapping clothes and identities with Tranio so that he may woo Bianca secretly. This shows courtship to be a mockery as when you court someone, you are opening up and showing the person who you are and that you ve nothing to hide. Hortensio is doing the complete opposite as

Congress stepped in by passing the Emergency Farm Mortgage Act of 1933 and the Farm Credit Act of 1933. The Farm Credit Act completely established the Farm Credit System. The FCS was under the administration of the Farm Credit Administration. All Government capital to the FCS was repaid by 1968, making FCS institutions wholly owned by their farmer borrowers. One of the ways in which they are attempting to do so is by pursuing a degree from an institution in another country. The focuses of this report are the operating systems UNIX and LINUX, two very interesting and powerful systems. The first is often labeled as too confusing and unfriendly, the later is relatively unknown to the novice user, but surprisingly they are very similar in design. A short history of the two operating systems may explain why they are so similar. UNIX is a creation out of Bell Labs in the 1960 s, in a project headed by Stephen Bourne. The idea was to create an operating system whose kernel (core part) was as tiny as possible. The main driving force, the small UNIX kernel, was that the developers were doing their work on what were considered in that day to be tiny computers. The severe limitation on RAM resulted in a small kernel with all the utilities implemented as separate, stand alone programs. Each was itself tiny, and designed to accept input from the preceding program as well as provide output to succeeding programs. This process of using output from one program as input into another is referred to as piping and is central to UNIX operating systems today (UNIX amp; LINUX Answers! Certified Tech Support 1998). LINUX is a creation of Linus

Meaning, that on March 5th, 1770, when colonists and soldiers gathered on King s street, America and Britain went to the media to present their perspectives of the tragic event. The statements, that were similar, are as follows: the colonists used snowballs as weapons, there was profanity from both soldiers and colonists, and lastly, around 11 soldiers were involved and two more were assaulted. Along with these statements, the British constantly attempted to prove themselves as innocent. To do this, they went to the arts. Alonzo Chappel painted the British perspective of the Boston Massacre in the 1800 s. The art depicted the colonists attacking the British soldiers with clubs, looking far more menacing than the soldiers. Along with the focal points of this painting, one can also see colonists looking out their windows viewing the event, rather than calling for help. Making it seem as though the colonists didn t feel the need to put a stop to this dispute. Overall, The London Chronicle influenced many of the British, appealing to people s anxiousness and anxiety of a colonial

  • 31. Drunk And Drowsy Driving Drunk and Drowsy Driving Happen to know anyone that has crashed or passed away due to drunk or drowsy driving? Drunk and Drowsy driving is unsafe ways to get on the road and begin to drive. People need to better understand the effects of not enough sleep, drunk driving, and the DUI consequences towards that. Most frequent times for the drowsy driving to take effect is either early in the morning or late at night when that drowsiness is overtaking; The body s natural sleeping period is around these times as well. Sleepiness also can peak in the middle of the afternoon. Older adults are more likely to have a drowsy driving accident in the mid afternoon (Drowsy Driving, page 1). There are several cases as to where the drivers that are drowsy don t often avoid accidents and also veer off the side of the road. These kinds of crashes though are more frequent in younger people with children. Though it is more frequent to do this with children, it is also two times more likely for a man to partake in this action instead of a woman. The age group that this typically happens around can vary between 18 and 29. Not only is it irresponsible to drive drowsy, it can be pricey too. Millions of dollars have been awarded to families due to them being a victim of a crash in drowsy driving. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conservatively estimated that 100,000 police reported crashes that are the direct result of driver fatigue each year (Page 2). There is almost no police training so they can noticeably spot out signs of drowsy driving. More than в…“ of people have fallen asleep at the wheel and much more than that have gotten into the car drowsy. Drowsy driving has resulted in 1,550 deaths, 71,000 injuries, and 12.5 billion in monetary losses (page 5). Now that the discussion of drowsy driving has passed on, we can now discuss drunk driving and all of its terrible flaws. There are at least 28 people every day that pass away from drunk driving whether they be the driver of the victim; this means there is at least one person dying from this every 51 minutes. Drunk driving has fallen by a third in the last three decades, yet we still lose over 10,000 people a year to this. Drunk driving crashes cost up

  • 33. Essay on How Humanism Transformed Individuals Role Throughout time an individual s role in which he fits into society has changed. One of the most noticeable changes in an individual s role in society occurred during the Italian Renaissance during the 14th and 15th centuries with the introduction of Humanism. Humanism gave birth to the concept of individuality a notion which is still alive today. It said that humans mattered and that now mattered, that one should not be part of a whole but rather someone that is unique. Before Humanism people only thought of the after life, of whether they were going to heaven or hell, but with the introduction of Humanism people became more involved in the present, rather then just thinking of what happened after you died. They were also encouraged to study ancient societies such as the Greeks and the Romans, believing this was the remedy for the present society. Humanism also encouraged people to help their society by combining the talents. An example of that can be found in Florence where three humanists served as chancellors of the city. Coluccio Salutati, Leonardo Bruni, and Poggio Bracciolini used rhetorical skills to encourage Florentines to revolt against the aggression of Naples and Milan. Both Bruni and Poggio wrote flattering histories of the city. Leon Battista Alberti, another accomplished humanist scholar, was a noted Florentine architect and builder. They were encouraged to combine their skills in history, art, and literature in their every day lives. This made them see the world with a different perspective, which made them into the individuals they aspired to be. Another change that occurred during the Italian Renaissance was the artistic perspective of this world. People were no longer painting two dimensional art, and non logical portraits. A new technique, chiaroscuros a technique that involved light and shadows, gave their paintings more depth and a realistic imagery. They also made their paintings more realistic by making the objects relative to one another. They emphasised emotions and belief in a universe full of harmony. By encouraging

Total annual inventory management cost = S (D / Q*) + H (Q* / 2) where: Q* = optimal order quantity D = demand per time period S = cost of placing an order H = cost of holding one unit in inventory for one time period Optimal order quantity Q* = square root of (2 D S/ H ) Number of orders placed per year = D / Q* Average cycle inventory = Q* / 2 Time between orders = Q*/ D (expressed in years) The optimal order quantity Q* occurs at the point where total fixed costs (eg., ordering costs) equal total variable costs (eg., inventory holding costs). Utah Lake is the only lake that is easy to access without going on an hour or longer car trip from Utah Valley. Because of that we should try and make Utah Lake more tourist friendly and better looking. This would bring more people there and make it a better experience to be there. In its current state Utah Lakeisn t a very attractive destination. Utah Lake got 134,000 visits in 2017 which is pretty high compared to other parks in Utah but it isn t that much compared the more visited state parks. When most people think of Utah they probably think of Southern Utah. You could have more tourists come to more places in Utah other than Southern Utah by giving more natural options in Central and Northern Utah. Utah lake is already a pretty nice place to go and fish but other than that there is not much else to do. You could make it a nice place to go swimming which would bring a lot more people than just fishers. But with adding fish you will have to make sure that it doesn t upset the balance. In conclusion the solutions are pretty easy to pull off so it you shouldn t need to put too much energy into

It is a high intensity game, involving bursts of maximal speed and power. During a game of Touch Football, all three energy systems work towards energy production required for muscular contractions, however one energy system will always be dominant and will be determined by the intensity and duration of the effort performed. The ATP CP system, fuelled by Creatine Phosphate (CP), is dominant at intensities above 95% of maximum heart rate (MHR) for durations up to 10 seconds. This system would have been dominant during the 11 entries into speed zone 4 where the player sprinted above 18km/hr (Appendix 2). These quick bursts of speed may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be measured by the 20m shuttle run, where the scores achieved by an elite male and female player were 12.8 and 10.8 respectively (Appendix 2). This higher relative VO2 maximum of males is due to cardiac hypertrophy (larger and stronger heart), which increases stroke volume per beat, consequently increasing oxygen circulation. Therefore, male players have a greater aerobic capacity, delaying fatigue and enabling faster recovery between repeated maximal efforts. This is important in Touch Football, which requires many quick bursts of sprinting, with minimal recovery time. The male players spent an average of 20:41 minutes on field in comparison to 18:17 minutes spent by female players (Appendix 2), yet men subbed more frequently (12 average subs in males versus 11 in females) (Appendix 2). Therefore, they spent less time off field recovering per sub (1:56 minutes) compared to women (2:15 minutes) (Appendix 2). By having a higher VO2 maximum, more oxygen is available to replenish CP stores and clear blood lactate, proving that males with a higher VO2 maximum recovered at a faster rate, therefore spent less time recovering per sub. Hence, they can perform a greater number of high intensity efforts in the game such as repetitively sprinting to ruck, thus improving

The data collected showing 2.627L/min is Kyle s VO2 peak. VO2 max is described as a maintenance or slight decline of VO2 with an increase in exercise intensity. Since Kyle did not have an opportunity to increase intensity, in the form of Watts, we could not determine if his peak VO2 was a true VO2 max. His termination of the test was mostly likely due to peripheral fatigue by a cause of blood lactate buildup, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends the use of 40%, 60%, 80%, and 85% of maximal oxygen consumption (VO2max) as target values in developing exercise prescriptions. Further, the ACSM states that 55%, 70%, 85%, and 90% of maximal heart rate (HRmax) may be used as indices of these respective levels of % VO2max for the general population. The current study evaluated this relationship between %HRmax and %VO2max in apparently healthy, young adults. Eighty one men and 81 women between the ages of 18 and 34 engaged in an incremental exercise test to exhaustion. Linear regressions of %HRmax and %VO2max were performed on each subject. From these regressions, target values of %HRmax were computed for each individual. Mean percentages of HRmax were 63%, 76%, 89%, and 92% at 40%, 60%, 80%, and 85% of VO2max, respectively. At all of these values of %VO2max, the values obtained for %HRmax were significantly greater (P 0.001) than those used by the ACSM. Fitness affected these results, particularly among men. High fit men averaged 2% higher in %HRmax than low fit men at any given value of %VO2max (Swain et al., 1994). Swain et al., (1994) relates to this laboratory because it shows the relationship between heart rate and VO2 max. It allowed me to further my knowledge about how we use VO2 max to predict heart rate. We then can set a target rate based on the data received from a VO2 max test. (Swain et al.,

Apple seems to be well aware of this familiarity and continues to keep its user programs similar in newer products, while still meeting consumer demand for more options in products. Likewise, style will always be a very important driver in the industries that Apple is competitive in. To stay atop these various industries, Apple must continue to launch products that are stylish and fashionable. Industry Changes The first industry change is that Samsung has begun to dominate the smart phone industry, gaining a 46 percent share in the last quarter if 2012 (Brandon, 2013). • 49. comparison of the Met and Guggenheim Essay New York City has been called the greatest city in the world numerous times by its own people and visitors to the city. New York is civilization s greatest world within a city. It gives the overpowering impression of being a magnet and mirror for all of humanity and all that humanity does. For a city so young, New York is home to number of architectural classics. Two of these masterpieces of architecture are the Metropolitan Museumof Art and the Guggenheim Museum. Both continue the metaphor of New York being a world within a world and possess the latent fusion of form and function, one dependent on the other. The Metropolitan Museum is the epitome of neo Classical style while the Guggenheim is a modernist powerhouse. Each museum serves... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Located on Fifth Avenueand 83rd street (just inside Central Park), it is a living encyclopedia of world art (picture 12). Every culture from every part of the world, from past to present is represented and is in fact the largest collection of art work in the entire Western Hemisphere. Let us now take a look at the impression each building gives the viewer. The Met and the Guggenheim possess two of the most famous museum faГ§ade s in the world. Upon first glance at the Guggenheim Museum, one is both impressed and intrigued by its design (pictures 1 4). It is an organic form that derives its source from Central Park located just opposite. The best impression of the structure is obtained from just across the street (picture 1). The attention to detail is evident everywhere the circular pattern of the sidewalk outside the museum, the porthole like windows on its south side (picture 4), and the smoothness of the hand plastered concrete. The main component on the west faГ§ade (facing Fifth Ave) is represented by an upward spiraling helix (pictures 1 3). Horizontal lines are stressed throughout the exterior, with the museum being longer than it is tall. There are very few corners, with smoothness and blending of form the focus. The museum gives an impression of stacked shapes with its long horizontal base, the viewing room capped by a steel structure on the north faГ§ade, the spiraling helix
  • 50. Causes of French Revolution Essay Introduction There are plenty of speculations concerning why there was a French Revolution and plenty of articles and books written on the subject of why did France revolutionize? Was it because France was following in the footsteps of the Americans and rebelling against a negligent monarch or was it because it was time for a reformation in France? Perhaps it was none of those reasons but because of a language sweeping that nation of France that calls the bourgeoisie, the foundation of the nation that was France, into action. Maybe the French Revolution began simply because the city dwelling bourgeoisie overthrew the empowered nobility and monarchy, which is what most speculations, ultimately leads to. However, all of these assumptions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... King Louis XVI had gotten into and involved in wars that he could not financially back, one of which was the American War for Independence fought against Britain. France, who was already in the thick of a financial deficit, getting involved only caused the country to go deeper into debt. Frances financial situation in the late 1700s was inevitable, what with the bad decisions made by the old regime, especially the parlement. Frances economic situation was the foundation and the beginning of a series of events that had led France to the brink of revolution and the end of the Old Regime. The Old Regime in France is a major reason behind the start of the French Revolution, because it caused stirrings in the lower classes and rebellions as they were burdened with the brunt of the debt as well and starvation across Frances borders while the upper classes were cushioned. In this portion of the essay, the old regime, the economic crisis France found itself in, and the effects of both on the bourgeoisie, and the failed attempts at reformation will be examined in reference to the cause of the French Revolution. King Louis XVI and Debt The monarch, King Louis XVI, came into power in 1774 in the midst of an already substantial financial debt. He made promises to the people concerning the financial crisis and until he called the estates general in 1789, had appointed several men in charge of finding solutions to the financial crisis
  • 51. Family Structures Are Changing The Face of America As time had progressed the definition of a family has changed drastically. What one would have considered a family in early centuries has truthfully changed from what one would consider a family in today s society. During earlier centuries a family consisted of a father, mother and their children; however that is no longer the case for most families in American society today. In American society families are defined in many different facets such as the traditional family, blended families, single parent homes and homosexual families. Regardless of the components of the family, one must understand that a family is a unit in which there is an adult providing the basic needs and wants of the children in which they have been entrusted. As time progresses America will continue to define and enhance the definition of the term family. Although society may continue to change and enhance the definition of society the traditional family structure that America was known for is slowly fading away as the concept of blended, single parent and homosexual families become the new norm for lives of many Americans. Years ago in American society family structure were referred to as a traditional family which was composed of a mother, father, and their children. • 53. Collateral Damage with the Frontier Resource Group Have you considered what would happen if we acted on our own conscience and did what we thought was right? Think about the impact that would occur on others around us. The US has several groups of privatized military men that engage in military tactics around the world. Where collateral fallout and world conflict arise, the privatized military group known as Frontier Resource Group conducts military missions. Mercenary, Erik Prince, founder of the privatized military organization known as Frontier Resource Group, used his navy seal background and information obtained from the CIA to carry out his own reconnaissance missions. War torn countries like Somalia, South Sudan, and central Africa are just a few countries that Frontier Resource group left devastated with the clear objective that Prince was a war profiteer. Erik Prince integrates his own military evaluations, war tactic, and analysis, to inflict harm and sell firearms to enemies in devastated war torn countries. Building roads and investing in airstrips for some of the poorest regions in Africa seems like a legitimate business turn around for a war profiteer like Erik Prince. Recently, Prince made a 105 million dollar deal with Citic, an advertising firm based in Hong Kong, for transporting equipment and provided security in and around some of Africa s most dangerous regions. (Feith) His privatized military group, planned operations in specific geographical locations to restrict opposition and create a buffer zone
