Essay On Good School
Writing an essay on the topic "Essay On Good School" can be quite challenging, primarily
because the concept of a "good school" is subjective and multifaceted. The difficulty arises from
the need to define what constitutes a good school and then provide comprehensive arguments
and evidence to support that definition.
Firstly, one must consider various perspectives on what makes a school "good." Is it academic
excellence, a nurturing environment, extracurricular opportunities, teacher quality, facilities, or a
combination of these factors? Each perspective requires in-depth analysis and evaluation.
Secondly, researching and gathering relevant information to support the chosen perspective can
be time-consuming. It involves exploring educational theories, examining case studies of
successful schools, and possibly conducting surveys or interviews to gather firsthand experiences.
Moreover, crafting a coherent and persuasive argument requires critical thinking and effective
communication skills. It's essential to organize thoughts logically, present evidence convincingly,
and address potential counterarguments to strengthen the essay's credibility.
Additionally, writing an engaging introduction to capture the reader's attention and a compelling
conclusion to leave a lasting impression requires creativity and precision in language use.
Overall, writing an essay on the topic of a "good school" demands thorough research, critical
analysis, effective communication, and creativity, making it a challenging task.

The Need for Groundwater Extraction Regulation
Groundwater is used primarily for irrigating farmland; and secondarily, for
consumption and industrial use. Aquifers, unconsolidated subterranean layers
which hold water, are rapidly dwindling, and groundwater depletion is quickly
growing to become a major problem for farmers and the public at large. Reserves
close to ground level are rapidly drying up and due to technological roadblocks,
extracting water from deeper reserves is not yet financially feasible. The problem is
especially severe in California, which represents around 20% of all groundwater
withdrawal in the United States (Famiglietti, LA Times). A lack of water for
agriculture would directly lead to diminished food production and indirectly lead to
requiring food imports from outside the state. Groundwater resources are an
unregulated public resource and despite any innovative breakthrough in extraction
techniques, the only sustainable, long term solution is to enforce limits on extraction.
Regulation of how much groundwater can be extracted from an aquiferin a set period
of time; along with incentives to obtain water from alternative sources is the ideal
solution to address the perennially growing challenge of groundwater depletion in
California.
This regulatory effort must begin in politics but it needs to spread to society as well
only when people realize the consequences of over extraction will they even consider
ceasing doing so. This solution is not based primarily in science and technology, and
is
Gender Roles In Remember The Titans
Most people don t realize that the media play up the stereotypes and gender roles
that are out there. We don t realize that the movies and television shows we watch
feed into the stereotypes and gender roles that we believe in. Remember the Titans,
directed by Boaz Yakin, tells the story about a high school football coach, Herman
Boone, attempting to integrate T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria in 1971.
Boone coming to T.C. Williams High School really upset many parents and
students. When the parents of the football players found out he was going to be
helping the head coach, Bill Yoast, many were fuming with anger. Why? Because
he is African American. Parents did not want their children playing African
American children in sports or sitting next to them in classrooms. This movie is
based on a true story and the film challenges everything we claim we know about
discrimination and racism in school. Boone and his family face horrible
experiences when moving to Alexandria. When moving to the neighborhood, many
neighbors were so upset but many were also happy that he didn t back down. He
was offered the head coach position but turned it down because he felt it would be
incredibly disrespectful to Coach Yoast. Boone Yoast agreed to make the
relationship work. The African American students meet with Coach Boone in the
gym, the meeting turns into a disaster when Coach Yoast and the white students
arrive and disturb the meeting. Gerry Bertier was one of the students among the
crowd of white students to interrupt. I m Gerry Bertier. I m the only All America
you got on this team. If you want us to play for you, you reserve over half the
positions ...we don t need any of your people on defense we re already set. said by
Gary Bertier to Coach Boone. Boone makes it clear that all players will be on the
team regardless of the color of their skin. Many stereotypes come into play at this
point in the movie. The coaches gather up all the players so they can go to training
camp at Gettysburg College, while gathering the students on a bus, Boone makes the
players sit next to each other. Neither one of the ethnic groups like this very much.
Once they get to the camp, they get paired to room together. One of the
A Historical Overview Of Julius Caesar Essay
A Historical Overview of Julius Caesar (Shakespeare style)
The fate of a nation determined by one man. With classic alliances and betrayals, the
tale of Julius Caesar is still regarded as one of the greatest betrayals in human
history. The fate of Rome was heading toward a dictatorship. Only the Roman
Republic could stop Julius Caesar from ruling Rome. Little did the Roman Republic
know that this assassination would later cause Octavian Caesar to become the first
Emperor of the Roman Empire in 27 B.C.E. There is much to know about Julius
Caesar. He was raised as a military man at a young age from his father who would
eventually pass away on Caesar s sixteenth birthday. He also created the first
governing triumvirate (Roman Republic) in 60 B.C.E.
Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare credits his historical accuracy to Plutarch.
Shakespeare is known to focus on the underlying character strengths and weaknesses,
as well as the motives that Plutarch noted in many of the great ancient leaders
(Hacht). Shakespeare created in depth characters through inspiration from Chaucer s
writing. Shakespeare is able to use historical content from Plutarch and character
analysis from studying Chaucer to give his characters three dimensional human
qualities that audience members can relate to. Shakespeare also uses this story to put
political views inside his play. Historically, England s literature and culture were
thriving during Shakespeare s lifetime. He took classic historical stories
Essay on Roberto Baggio
Roberto Baggio was born on February 18, 1967 to his mother Matilde and his
father Fiorindo, in the small Italian town of Caldogno which is located north of the
city of Vicenza. His brothers and sisters are Gianna, Walter, Carla, Giorgio, Anna
Maria, Nadia, and Eddy. Roberto had much freedom as a child. His father often
took him to a soccer field where he stayed until late evening. Roberto s passion for
soccer was evident. Roberto started his soccer career in his home town of Caldogno,
at the age of nine. His first coach, Gian Pero Zenere, saw for the first time the
greatness in Roberto. He had become a star. A scout named Antonio Mora
persuaded Roberto to play for Vicenza, then a club in the serie C1 league. The fee
was $500. The first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before Roberto made his first appearance for Juve, he was called to play for the

Juventus where he played in 33 matches in the 1990 91 serie. In that same year his
wife gave birth to their first child, Valentina, on December 2 1990. 1992 93 was
Roberto s best year. He also lead Juventus to the UEFA Cup in that year. It was
Roberto s first major trophy. He continued his great play the next season, 1993 94,
when he got his one hundredth serie A goal vs Genoa in October. Roberto was
awarded the Golden Ball trophy as Europe s best player, and the sports writers
voted Roberto Best Player in the World. His wife Andreina gave birth to their
second child Mattia, in June 1994. Then it was off to USA 94, and Roberto lead
the team that was built around him, the Azzurri , right to the finals of the World
Cup, with goal after important goal for Italy. On July sixth 1995 Roberto left
Juventus for an even bigger club, Milan. Roberto was on his second consecutive
serie A championship winning team. On July 18 1997, Roberto signed with
Bologna F.C. of the serie A. With the ponytail gone and new hope after a great
international goal vs Poland. in April of 97 Roberto and his fans were expecting a
great 1997 98 season culminating with a World Cup victory in France 98.

Early Childhood Surveys
Relatives and the parents are the environment and first set of people that newborn
and children have contact and interact with. They learn first few things from
siblings and caregiver. Most times, due to the economic situation of the family,
children spend less time with parents due to education or employment. Most times,
children are raised by relative or caregiver because parents have to work. Child
development starts from when their cognitive skills are developed. Time spent by
caregivers and Parents and their literacy level are important in early child
development. Belsky et al.(2007) research on effect of early child care on children s
showed that parenting was a stronger and more consistent predictor of children s
development than early childcare experience while higher quality care predicted
higher vocabulary scores. According to Susanna et al. (2004), Children display
stronger social development when providers have educationbeyond high school.
Children with high literate guardian are more likely to participate in children s
home literacy activities. Magnuson and Waldfogel , (2005) stated that Children who

Advocating For The Legalization Of Marijuana Is Not A
Novel
Advocating for the legalization of marijuana is not a novel cause. However,
recently the public has grown increasingly aware on the benefits of marijuana. The
drug is no longer for hippies who live in a van, at least not exclusively. It can be
used by patients suffering from a variety of illnesses, including cancer, anxiety,
depression, autism and more; however, studies are still being conducted on the
effectiveness of these treatments. Many people advocate for the legalization of the
drug solely based on the tax revenue it will provide. Although it is a notable benefit
to the potential policy change, taxes do not affect equality nor efficiency of the
economy. It is merely a transfer of money. Equality and efficiency are the two most...

Although the African American jail population today is nowhere near as large as it
was in the 1800 s, it is still disproportionately disadvantaging African Americans along
with other racial minorities. Not only are the incarceration rates unjust, but they are
the largest in the world, despite a decline in violent crime for the past few decades
(Lofstrom and Raphael, 2016). According to the Uniform Crime Reports, which
categorize both property crimes and violent crimes, each month per 100,000
people. Property crimes include incidents involving the burglary and theft of
property. Conversely, murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults are
categorized as violent crimes (Lofstrom and Raphael, 2016). The data associated
with both crimes shows a consistent decrease in reported crime since the 1990 s.
Violent crime reports decreased from 750 in 1990 per 100,000 people to below 400
in 2010, while property crime reports went from a little over 5,000 to just under
3,000. It is important to note that only reports of crime went down, not crime itself;
however, the numbers are significant enough to imply a decline in criminal activity.

National Influenza Immunization Program
In 1976, due to an outbreak of influenza at Fort Dix, New Jersey, the United States
set a precedent in immunology by attempting to vaccinate the entire population of
the country against the possibility of a swine type Influenza A epidemic. While a
great many people were successfully immunized in a very short period of time, the
National Influenza Immunization Program (NIIP) quickly became recognized as a
failure, one reason being that the feared epidemic never surfaced at all. But this
massive undertaking deserves more analysis than just a simple repudiation. For
example, all evidence linked to the pathology, microbiology, and historical cycle of
influenza and the outbreak at FortDix suggests that the reactions of the scientists and

(Silverstein: 13) There are three types of influenza, depending on their activity: type
A, which is usually the cause of outbreaks; type B, which is linked to sporadic
cases, and type C, which rarely causes disease reactions. (Silverstein: 54) The virus
which causes influenza enters the host through the respiratory tract, and binds
itself to epithelial cells. The virus causes the cell to engulf it by endocytosis, and
then fuses to the wall of the endocytic vesicle, injecting the contents of the virus
into the cytosol of the cell. The RNA of the virus enter the nucleus of the cell, and
spur the creation of new copies of the genes. These genes, as well as new viral
proteins that are created in the cell, leave the cell as fresh viruses, budding off the
plasma membrane of the cell.
While Scientists still do not know a great deal about the communicability of
influenza, they do know that it can be spread by human to human contact, and has
some airborne stability. (Silverstein: 59) Specifically, the characteristics of the
influenza at Fort Dix was extremely discouraging. First of all, it was very similar to
the 1918 swine influenza A pandemic, which turned out to be one of the most lethal
outbreaks of disease in recorded history, and one victim had already died. Also,
while usually this disease is caused by exposure to pigs, it was obvious that this was

Marni Grossman The Beauty Myth
In today s society beauty is a very important component to everyone. In order to be
liked you must be thin, pretty, and smart, and if you don t possess one of these
qualities then you must buy products that will help you achieve them. Women
especially have to face these standards every day for the rest of their lives. The
beauty myth is a way for the patriarchy to control women through power, control, and
consumerism. It was created by the patriarchy to keep women in line and to have
them focus on their looks rather than the power that they possess for advancement.
Naomi Wolf describes the beauty myth as, a way to keep male dominance
intact...women must unnaturally compete for resources that men have appropriated
for themselves (Wolf 120).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
African American women can be affected in various ways such as their hair and
their skin color. The beauty standard is to have straight and smooth hair and African
American women spend hundreds of dollars to have their hair straightened and
softened and can even spend up to thousands of dollars on weaves and wigs.
Overweight women experience this discrimination from the norm as well because of
their weight. They are underpaid because of their weight and society often thinks that
they are lazy and that they have no self control. These two groups of women face
many challenges in society because they do not fit into beauty standards that men

Bryan Williams Research Paper
Bryan Williams is a veteran musician/songwriter best known as one of the most
prolific and widely sought after session keyboardists in Philadelphia, performing an
estimated 100? world tours in a 30 year career.
As a writer, Williams is credited for songs such as: Rose Royce s Lonely Road (ft
Grover Washington Jr.), and Teddy Pendergrass Spend the Night. From his days as
a session musician with Jean Carne, Rose Royce, Grover Washington, Teddy
Pendergrass, Regina Belle, and Phyllis Hyman, Bryan is considered one of the
pioneers of what is called the Philly Sound .
Williams was born and raised in Philadelphia PA, in the North Philly section of the
city. It was there where he realized his love for music, and his gift for playing the
keyboard. He credits much of his early influence to the late Bill Doggett, a
Philadelphia born jazz and rhythm and blues pianist and organist who was best
known for his compositions Honky Tonk and Hippy Dippy ; and playing with the
Ink Spots, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Jordan. Doggett, whose mother lived two
doors down from the Williams family, would drop by and visit Bryan while in the

Social Injustice In Kettle Bottom
Social Injustice Explored in Kettle Bottom
At the beginning of the twentieth century, the United States moved from an
agricultural economy to an industrial economy based on textile factories, steel mills,
and new inventions. The mechanization of America required an energy source, and
that energy source was coal. Diane Gilliam Fisher, a sixty one year old American
poet, uses her poems in Kettle Bottom to tell the world about the mining community.
Kettle Bottom by Diane Fisher explores the history of West Virginia coal miners
struggle against mine owners as the miners fight for better working conditions and
pay, the emotional strain on the miners and their families, and the dangerous working
conditions faced by the miners; in order to inform ... Show more content on

According to information from the Mine Safety and Health Administration in the
early 1900s mine explosions and other accidents claimed thousands of victims. The
deadliest year in United States coal mining history was 1907, when an estimated
3,242 deaths occurred (Injury Trends in Mining). While many miners died in mine
accidents, For each laborer killed directly, several were maimed, and several more
found their lives shortened by coal dust, lead, and other poisons (Andrews). When
a miner was unable to perform his job even if this was due to work related issues,
he got replaced. The disabled miner was given no compensation, no resources to
provide for his family, and no medical care; he was simply tossed aside by
company officials. The chance of an explosion or the collapse of a tunnel roof due
to unsafe working conditions and machinery was so great that mothers, wives, and
daughters had to memorize physical attributes or tangible aspects of clothing in
case they needed to identify the body of a loved one. Fisher acknowledges this
haunting reality in Explosion at Winco No. 9 when she writes that it is Us that
learns by heart birthmarks, scars, bends of fingers, how the teeth set crooked or

Corazon Aquino s Presidential Election
Thomas M. Magstadt defines the term justice as The extent to which individual rights
(that is, natural, human, or civil rights) are respected by government. It can be
accurately inferred that if something is justified, it holds a reasoning that respects the
individual rights of the people. Various methods of justification are expressed through
Corazon Aquinos rise to presidency. This can be explored with the following
question: to what extent was Corazon Aquino s presidential election in the
Philippines justified by former president Ferdinand Marcosactions as leader?

Marcos used this so he could arrest quickly without the need to trial. However, for
the public, the abolishment of their individual rights is a violation of justice. People
even started to suspect Ferdinand Marcos as being the culprit of the Plaza Miranda
bombing. The suspension of Habeas Corpus threw the public into a frenzy. Multiple
cases were filed, including a petition to return the writ of Habeas Corpus by Benigno
Aquino Jr., Corazon Aquino s husband. The case was called Aquino V. Enrile;
Enrile was the name of the national defense secretary. The petitioners were arrested
and the case favored Enrile due to a clause in the constitution stating, he [the
president] may suspend the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus, or place the
Philippines or any part thereof under martial law. This case may have changed the
public s reactions to the suspension of Habeas Corpus, but not their opinions about it.
They may not declare petitions to restore their writ of Habeas Corpus, but they will
certainly keep their ambiguous feelings about it.
Once Corazon Aquino was elected president in 1986, she sought to restore democracy
in the Philippines. One of Aquino s first actions as president was changing the
Philippines constitution. Her reconstructed constitution contained more democratic
concepts as well solidifying the writ of Habeas Corpus. The sudden, yet glorious,
change Aquino brought upon the Filipino people after Marcos dictatorship only

Martin Luther And John Calvin Views On Sinful People
Martin Luther and John Calvin В Views on Sinful People
Justification by faith (Sola Fide), the core value of the Reformation, is the belief that
righteousness from God is a recompense for sinner s accounts through faith alone.
The sixteenth century movement for the reform of abuses in the Roman Catholic
Church resulted in the
establishment of the Reformed and Protestant Churches. Reformers like Martin
Luther and John
Calvin were two of the most significant figures in the history of The Reformation.
They both
proclaimed Justification as the main subject of the gospel of God s grace. They were
well acknowledged for their common doctrines of salvation as the deliverance from
sin and its
consequences. They believed that to be brought ... Show more content on

To compare Martin Luther s and John Calvin s view on the subject of a sinful person, I
thoroughly looked into their common doctrines and considered how they differ in
implementing
the rules that manage their ideology. I was able to conclude that even though Luther
and Calvin
shared similar doctrines, their conceptualization and interpretation of those doctrines
is very
different. Based on their opinions of sinners, I further realized that not only do they
have divergent
interpretations of similar doctrines, but they also have different ambitions and their
personalities
are extreme opposites.
Luther often blamed the flesh, which Protestants refer to as our sinful nature (they
believed is the cause of human impurities), for the sins of every human and he gave
credit to the
Spirit for every good things that man does. The Reformers and the Protestants believe
that there
are two types of spirits: the Holy Spirit, which they proclaim to be the spirit of God,
and the human
spirit, which is the part of humans that opens up to the spirit of God. The spirit that is
often
refereed to when talking about the flesh is the human spirit (what does the Bible
mean by the
flesh by Msgr. Charles Pope). We might argue that Luther is trying not to be
judgmental, that he
acknowledged the fact that efforts to live a sinВfree life is a mere dream, and the

Prison Gangs Research Paper
Groups of criminals usually based on the same racial or ethnic lines that function
together in correctional facilities throughout America are called gangs. Prison gangs
consists of many offenders in prisons that work together to defend and protect each
other while also committing crimes and producing a profit for the greater good of the
specific gang. These gangs, since they are most often based on race or ethnicity have
many enemies and some allies which contribute to prisonviolence. Although these
prison gangs originated within the disciplinary system, they often continue their
criminal maneuvers outside of those restrictions once they are free. These prison
gangs tend to organize a system of hierarchy and establish a code of conduct or...

than likely, commit crimes out of prison or still look towards violence as the

forth by Texas Syndicate are there to ensure loyalty and participation in the
criminal activities. Once a member is released from prison they are required to
contact the highest ranking member in the same area as he plans to reside in to

with a higher member once he is released, he will be penalized harshly, to the extent

Canterbury Tales Essay
Sexuality in The Wife of Bath and the Pardoner
In Geoffrey Chaucer s The Canterbury Tales, an eclectic mix of people gathers
together at Tabard Inn to begin a pilgrimage to Canterbury. In the General Prologue,
the readers are introduced to each of these characters. Among the pilgrims are the
provocative Wife of Bath and the meek Pardoner. These two characters both
demonstrate sexuality, in very different ways. Chaucer uses the Wife and the
Pardoner to examine sexuality in the medieval period.
The Middle Ages were a time of expanding and experimenting sexually for the
people. Religious figures who had taken vows of celibacy had children, sometimes
with more than one woman. Even some popes of the time had illicit affairs. However,

The nominalists knew that no matter how much abstinence and damnation for sin
was preached, there was a certain amount of gray area, and they very much took into
account the biblical quote Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone.
Chaucer observed the disputes these opposing views created, and shaped the
controversy into colorful characters.
In the very first lines of The General Prologue, Chaucer is already demonstrating how
his work can be read in two ways: nominalistically and realistically. The nominalist,
Chaucer s pilgrim narrator, sees the lines meant to interpret one way, while the realist,
Chaucer the poet, interprets the lines another way.

What makes a large organization like Wal Mart financially successful? One could say
it is the result of outstanding personnel or perhaps a strong determination to succeed.
These factors certainly contribute. However the key to financial success in

Modern organizations that utilize technology must now use their resources to protect
themselves from malicious cybercrime activities. A hacker could illegally intrude into
an organizations information network and use accounting software to mine
information and steal assets at a relatively low risk of being caught. With new threats
introduced in the accounting environment, modern organizations now must work
hard to safeguard information that was not at such a risk prior to new technology.
Outside threats are a real danger to accounting functions in modern organizations, but
other dangers to success lie from within.
Accounting is the information system that measures business activity, processes the
data into reports, and communicates the results to decision makers. (Horngren amp;

accounting information to manage organizational activities and turn these efforts into
success. Internal accounting accuracy plays just as important of a role outside of

What is different about attitude measurement compared to other phenomena we

survey method that makes this problem easier to overcome?
Attitude measurement is when a research is studying the reaction of participants to a
certain phenomena; while when studying a phenomena you are attempting to explore
and describe it. When measuring a phenomena the variables are clear and known
while with attitude measurement they are not. In order to overcome the lack of
control over the variable within attitude measurements you can create a clear

In the movie Donald in Mathmagic Land, Donald Duck ventures into a mystical
world of math. A spirit joins Donald in his adventure and shows him that there is

The Indian Copyright Act has its scales inclined in favour of access to knowledge

Essay about Two Levels of Meaning in Carver’s
Cathedral

Two Levels of Meaning in Cathedral
The short story Cathedral by Raymond Carver develops characters with a dualistic
depth. On the surface they have believable human attitudes and attributes, but there is
also a level functioning that offers another interpretation. Carver is not only creating
a realistic human picture, he uses the old story of the deliverer and reworks it into
something unique, fresh. He takes the characters and binds them in the mind of his
readers in a way that leads one to feel as though there is a deeper level to his message.
The narrator is quite obviously the character that Carver wants us to see as
figuratively blind. There is a stark contrast in the blind man and the ... Show more

The wife serves as a catalyst to bring about change in this perception by welcoming
her friend into their household. Carver foreshadows that this blind man, Robert,
has the power of insight through the detail in which the tape recorded episodes are
described. Before Robert is even introduced into the dialogue the reader s view of
him is the opposite that of the narrator this is emphasized by their separate relation
to the woman in the story. She becomes the object from which the two men
illustrate their approaches to life. The blind man opens himself up to her words,
thoughts, feelings and substance. The husband relies on the surface like visual clues
from her and taking things at face value. The poem that she writes about her
experience with Robert is dismissed by her husband, I can remember I didn t think
much of the poem (210). When she shares the poem with its subject communication
is opens up between them. However, her role is minor in the underlying conflict of
the story, which is the juxtaposition of the values embodied by Richard and by the
narrator. Carver molds the husband into a disciple, one who is unwilling at first but
gradually shifts his ideology.
The blind man is the classic unwelcome visitor. The twist in that title is that he is
also the prophet or savior in the story as well. His qualities can be associated

The Discovery of Radioactivity and its Effects Essay
During the 1800 s, the late 1800 s, scientist discovered radioactivity. The study of
radio activity became a phenomenon amongst scientist during this time period. With
the discovery of new elements polonium and radium by Marie and Pierre Curie, the
use of radioactivity to probe the center of an atom, provided the instructions of a
nuclear weaponthat will kill innocent Japanese, leaving there face disfigured, and
permanently changed. The majority of people know of the effect of radioactivitybut
not how it was discovered and its close relation to physics.
The discovery of radioactivity can also be referred to the dawn of the nuclear age.

Just like the other scientist before him, he performed experiments to satisfy his
curiosity about radioactivity. Rutherford first, bombarded gold foil in particles
from a radioactive source. Rutherford saw that some of the particles seeming

space, but there was also a small dense portion of matter that deflected the particles.
He defined this dense area as being a nucleus. Through this finding, we were able to
find discoveries that lead to the discovery of radioactivity. Some people argue that
radioactivity should not be used at all mainly because it harms people and fatal,
while others say that it should be used for weapons in a war. From the two atomic
bombs dropped on Japan in 1945 the effect of radioactivity waves are clear. The
effects of radioactivity are not always through a nuclear bomb. Radioactive waves
are transmitted through the sun and cosmic radiation. This simply means that
people at higher elevations such as the Rocky Mountains and the Colorado

or at sea level. Radioactive waves are also transmitted through some fabricated
technology, soil, and rocks. The majority of people pose the question why do

radioactive waves. Nurses give countless numbers of x rays a day. While you
Utilitarianism In Little Women By Louisa May Alcott
Little Women
By:
Louisa May Alcott
A Victorian literature characteristic shown in Little Women is utilitarianism. This
is shown throughout the book as the four girls, Meg, Beth, Jo, and Amy were so
kind and often tried to do things that make others happy and don t expect anything
in return. This characteristic is evident when Beth said I ll tell you what we ll do,
let s each get her (their dear mother) something for Christmas, and not get anything
for ourselves (6). In this scene, the four sisters, who get along beautifully, were
sitting by the fire and when they notice how worn out their mother s slippers were.
Initially, they didn t get any gifts or presents for Christmas since their father was
away at war and they had to save money so they decided to use a little of their hard
earned money to each buy something for themselves. But after seeing the condition
of Marmee s slippers, they decide to use their own money to buy something nice for
their mother. This quote shows utilitarianism because the Beth, Meg, Jo, and Amy all
give up their own hard earned money to do something nice and considerate for
someone else. Essentially, the four loving sisters thought of doing something to make
someone happy and put themselves aside for a while.
Another Victorian literature characteristic shown in this book is social classstructure.
This is evident throughout the entire novel because Meg, Beth, Jo, Amy, and Marmee
are all quite poor and face many different issues

When I talk about learning life lessons that is what I mean. I want lessons that are
taught in the classroom but that I can use outside of class. A hands on classroom is
ideal. In this classroom we do have some hands on lessons. We do not have nearly
enough though. There is usually not enough funding for what we want to do.
Rather than doing hands on things we take notes on the hands on things. We
usually cannot do things hands on and just end up doing work on the computer. I
wish that we could have more situations where we get do the lessons with the
animal instead of with a picture of the animal. Another article I read stated that It
also encourages young pupils to do things for themselves, which will help them
with learning independently later on in life. This is why I wish we could have more
hands on learning. Hands on learning can be very good for this reason. Students will
then learn stuff for themselves rather than someone to do it for them. Of course
teachers are still directing the class but they now get to do things for themselves.
This article also stated that Often demonstrations will give students the main idea of
how something works, but place less emphasis on detail. Which is also very true.
Learning certain subjects by doing them is not necessarily easy, but
Islamic Terrorism And Islamic Finance Essay
With its assets estimated to total nearly $1 trillion globally, Islamic finance
remains tiny compared to conventional finance with its tens of trillions of dollars.
The market in Islamic bonds, or sukuk, is believed to total about $50 billion,
roughly 1 percent of global bond issuance. In view of the financial crises which
have been affecting the whole world, a solution in the name of Islamic finance could
be introduced. As the global economic slowdown becomes more severe and
protracted, many countries will be seeking alternatives, and Islamic finance can seize
these new opportunities by offering standardized Islamic finance products with
prudent regulations and supervisory arrangements. The beauty of the Islamic finance
lies in its balanced and integrated approach towards a development policy that is
urgently called for in the current crisis, caused by the awesome importance attached
to the promotion of the financial sector alone. Islamic Finance is a viable alternative

between risk and profit and the social responsibilities of financial institutions. A
distinctive feature of Islamic finance is that it does not allow the creation of debt
through the direct lending and borrowing of money or other financial assets. The debts
International Marketing Tactics Has Long Time
Introduction
1. Literature Review
The literature on international marketing tactics debates two significant points of
view. Some researchers support the international standardization approach argue same
marketing strategy, and international markets should use a standardisation marketing
mix for reduce total costs and promote a global enterprise image. The companies
should use a single entity selling the same items everywhere in the same way
(Levitt,1983). On the other hand, some researchers support the marketing adaptation

Until today, international marketers have been challenging whether to standardise or
adapt their marketing strategies (Rosenbloom, B., T, Larsen S. Metha , 1997).
Evidently, the debate on adaptation and standardisation is a huge one. Prahald et al
(1986) and Douglas et al (1987) argue that the international marketers should have to
find the balance point between standardisation and adaptation. They believe that the
decision on standardisation or adaptation is not a dichotomous one between complete
standardisation and adaptation. Recently years,Quelch Hoff (1986), Akaah (1991)
Wang (1996) and Vrontis ( 1999) have a certain consensus has emerged which
acknowledge that Standardisation and Adaptation is co existing.

Mastery In Renaissance Art
The artist from the renaissance period are thought to be the high Kings, and even
associated to Gods, for the modern art era. The mixture of human compassion and
deep religious piety created many greats works by artists like Michelangelo and
Leonardo Di Vinci. However, with great skills, the artists taught themselves to be
the best of the best, and compared themselves with the greats from Ancient Greece.
Artists like Michelangelo and Rubens critiqued the artists in their age in order to see
who among them can create perfection, or reach true mastery in art. While there

perfection. In De Imitatione Statuorum , Rubens explains and criticizes the artists of

who have imitated works from the past in order to gain skill and mastery in art by
recreating what have been created by the greats from the past. However, Rubens both
is for and against the argument of imitation and copying of antique statues and works
because artists who have mastered the skill can truly understand and learn from the

disrespectful to the art. Rubens explain his reasoning from the passage in the article

even when an artist understands the element of shades, and giving the statue the flesh

Elizabeth s Soft Nature Of The Perfect Woman
Elizabeth s soft nature conveys the epitome of the perfect woman during the early to
mid nineteenth century. The readers are introduced to Elizabeth primarily through
her looks. In Frankenstein, others are compared to Elizabeth s beauty as her fairness
attracts attention from the hardy little vagrants surrounding her (Shelley 32). The
other children are described as vagrants, homeless wanderers, while Elizabeth
embodies an angelic nature. The juxtaposition of her light, fair appearance among the
dark, poor other children attracted the attention of Caroline Frankenstein, leading to
her safety from poverty and entrance into a higher social status. Elizabeth, the perfect
woman, lacked the hardy and tough nature of the other children, and belonged in a
higher social class. As Elizabeth expands her education she partakes in the
traditional education of a woman during the Romanticist era as she busied herself
with following the aerial creations of the poets; and in the majestic and wondrous
scenes (Shelley 35). While Victor discovers natural laws and science, Elizabeth
educates herself in her beautiful surroundings of nature. Her knowledge is grounded
in the whimsical flights of poets during Shelley s contemporary and immensely more
carefree and naГЇve than that of her male counterpart. Furthermore she symbolizes
the most naГЇve force love to balance Victor s determination and curiosity as she was
the living spirit of love to soften and attract (Shelley 37).

there is no excuse as to why I was not in my barracks room as I had been ordered to

With communication, punctuality and being at your prescribed place of duty all
being essential facets of military life and having a direct correlation to the
soldierly appearance and combat readiness of a unit, these kinds of faults and
mistakes cannot be allowed to permeate our disciplined ranks and taint the
effectiveness of our unit . Without punctuality, and therefore discipline there can be
no effectiveness or efficiency in our mission of protecting our own and destroying
our enemies. If we cannot efficiently destroy the enemy we are no longer an
effective or worthwhile unit in the Army. Scheduling the work day and being
accountable for each one of your soldiers is one of the most important duties any
leader in the Army has from a sergeant major all the way down to squad or team
leader positions. With that being said, I cannot express enough that being at the right
place at the right time is extremely essential to the defense of the entire United States
of America and extremely essential to mission readiness and being able to complete

Convergence of the Twain illustrates how humans are the cause of the sinking of
the ship. The section also describes how the ship is free from human vanity and
how it finally gets to be at peace. Instead of viewing this event as a tragedy, it is
viewed in a positive way with a more peaceful and tranquil ending. In lines 2 and 3,
Deep from human vanity, And the Pride of Life that planned her, stilly couches she ,
it explains how as a result of the ship being at the ocean floor, she is away from
human corruption. Due to humans believing that they could create such a ship that
could defy the laws of nature, becoming unsinkable, they didn t take any precautions
into consideration causing her to be at peace on the ocean floor. In lines 3 through 5,
Steel chambers, late the pyres Of her salamandrine fires, Cold currents thrid, and turn
to rhythmic tidal lyres , explains that the ship goes through a transition in which the
engines of the ship being as bright as a salamandrine fires to cold currents turning
into rhythmic tidal lyres. The idea of salamandrine

Corporate Ethics And Ethical And Business Ethics In Nestle
In the latest years the issues of unethical and ethical business practices have become
the limelight of the media. Business ethics (also known as corporate ethics) is a
form of applied ethics or professional ethics that examines ethical principles and
moral or ethical problems that arise in a business environment. It applies to all
aspects of business conduct and is relevant to the conduct of individuals and entire
organizations. In business, ethicsapplies to any interaction of the business, whether
that be from one on one with specific customers, or multimillion dollar business deals
with other companies. If is quite obvious that the goal of the majority of businesses is
to make money, and thus ethics do not concern these businesses, whilst on the other
hand there are many businesses that are not for profit or rather, are doing the right
thing and having commitment and responsibility towards society having a far greater
importance.
In past years there have been numerous reports from global businesses, including
most of the major brands that the public use for their poor business ethics, which have
received a huge attention by people around the world. One of the most shocking
reports came from a well known company NestlГ©. The main ethical issues
concerning NestlГ© company was endorsing infant formula with ambiguous and
unsafe strategies, using suppliers that violate human rights and promoting harmful
food.
NestlГ© S.A is the world largest fast moving customer goods company in

Scenario: To open a Lemonade Stand in your local neighborhood.
Its summer time and the most important thing in hot weather is the need to quench
your thirst. What is a better drink then a refreshing Lemonade. Since long I was very
much interested in opening a lemonade stand, which I finally decided to have it
implemented before the summer season starts. After a lot of research and hard work I
have come up with a business model that would work efficiently in generating
revenue and also help local community.
Brand:
The brand name that I came up with is a catchy and trendy word which I think
represents the product and justifies the product s need in hot season. The brand name
would be GO COOL Real Lemonade. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pricing Strategy:
Since the Lemonade business depends on lemon and sugar, our company will have
to keep an eye on the stock needed and the availability of the two item locally and
internationally. Even though the business will be at the peak in summer and will
slow down in winter, a close monitoring on the international prices is a must. The
future plan of the company is to expand in other continents by giving out franchise.
So if it winter in US we generate business revenue from countries like Australia and
New Zealand where they would have summer. To keep standard pricing and profit
margin for the franchises, a detailed costing would be required. The things that are
needed to be considered would be Cost of Lemon, Cost of Sugar, Cost of water, Cost
of container, 10% overheads (labor, rent, utilities, etc), 5% franchisingfee and 7%
profit margin. In addition to this pricing 2% price fluctuation will be added to the
cost. With this calculation the company and the franchises should make enough
money to survive in the competitive market.
Global Market:
Even though the product can be packed in a container and can be sold globally, I
would prefer to have local franchises so that we can provide pure and authentic
lemonade without preservatives as we promised. Also, opening a franchise will give
local people employment, which is also a way to give back to the community.
If we stick to the plans and ethics, I think our company has a bright future
Kinnell And Heaney
The poems Blackberry picking by Seamus Heaney, and Blackberry Eating by
Galway Kinnell are both excellent depictions of the essence of the blackberries.
Something beautiful can be said of poems that were written about blackberries. The
descriptive words poets use, can make a simple fruit into something truly amazing.
These poems all compare blackberries, making them seem like more than they are.
These two poems are dedicated to different seasons of blackberry picking, describe
the fruititself to be something different, and are written with different writing styles.
The first lines of both poems begin with a time. Blackberry picking takes place in
late August. Heaney described the weather needed for that time of year to find the
perfect blackberries. He told the reader, given heavy rain and sun for a full week,
the blackberries would ripen. This is very similar to what Kinnell is saying with the
first lines of his poem, Blackberry Eating . His poem begins, in late September
among the fat, overripe, icy, black blackberries. The timing in both poems is
extremely similar in that the blackberries are just becoming ripe in late August, and
over the next month, grow to the perfect, overripe state. ... Show more content on

Are they newly ripe, or too overripe and soft? These poems explain how differently
blackberries can be at different times throughout the season. Blackberry Eating
compares the berries falling into the person s mouth to works words falling from their
mouths, certain peculiar words like strengths and squinched. On the other hand,
Blackberry picking compares blackberries to a thickened wine that stains

a bracket appears on the spirogram to indicate where that measurement originates on
the spirogram and (2) the value in milliliters appears in the data table. Also note that
when the FEV1 measure button is selected, the final column labeled FEV1/FVC

Emphysema Breathing
In a person with emphysema, there is a significant loss of intrinsic elastic recoil in
the lung tissue. This loss of elastic recoil occurs as the disease destroys the walls of
the alveoli. Airway resistance is also increased as the lung tissue in general becomes
more flimsy and exerts less mechanical tethering on the surrounding airways. Thus
the lung becomes overly compliant and expands easily. Conversely, a great effort is
required to exhale as the lungs can no longer passively recoil and deflate. Anoticeable
and exhausting muscular effort is required for each exhalation. Thus a person with
emphysema exhales slowly.
1. Using this information, predict what lung values will change in the spirogram

First research question interview. The interview for the first research question occurs
after the pre screening call, at a time set by the researcher and the participant. It will
start with an overview explaining the purpose of the research, affirming the time
commitment, answering questions the participants have, assuring the participants
that their input will be kept confidential and confirming to them that they can leave at
any point without repercussions.
The researcher and the participant will review and discuss the list, with the researcher
recording and taking notes. The approach will be collaborative and fluid. The
intention is to have the participant suggest changes to the list that they think could
aid in the research, while the interviewer affirms that all suggestions will be given
due consideration but ultimately may or may not be included, at the discretion of the
research team. At the end of the interview, the researcher will summarize the
suggested changes, gain confirmation, affirm confidentiality, thank the participants
for their time and ask if they wish to continue with the next phase of the research.
The recording will not be transcribed. It will be kept as a reference to be listened to
should clarification be needed during data analysis. The notes from the interview will
be summarized, typed and grouped by the item on the list that they refer to.

Explosive Black Powder
Most people do not know that we have tunnels underground, or that tunnels inside
of rocks for us to travel through. We use explosives to blast holes into solid areas
we need to go through. Explosives explode because they are made of materials that
burn or break down very quickly, producing a lot of heat and gas. (Wood, 2014).
Usually explosives are made with a material called a detonator, with another layer
over it. A detonator is simply used for exploding a device. The detonator makes a
quick chemical reaction in the material that explodes. A chemical reaction is an
action that changes the energy and structure in the content of chemicals. Without a
chemical reaction, the explosives would not explode. There are many chemical
reactions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the package there would be a certain distance to where you should stand from
the explosive. There is a safety zone, fall out zone, fireworks zone, and spectator
zone. These zones would help you out of harm s way. The safety zone is between
the area where people watch the action that is going on and the action. The fallout
zone is behind the fireworks, to which you should not stand by them because it is
very dangerous. The firework zone is between the safety and fallout zone, it is
where all the fireworks would be set up. The spectator zone is where all the people
who want to enjoy sit or stand, it is safe and would not be reached by any
explosives. There is a lot of information about explosives that is still out there to
discover. Explosions are often very dangerous. People often get killed or lose a
limb just because they would not be careful or they would do something wrong.
Nevertheless, explosions helped throughout our lifetime by simply proving
roadways to drive on, safety at wars, and fun while watching fireworks. Also, by
reading books and articles about how to use explosives or how to use fun equipment
that have explosives in them, it would help you out with knowing how to use
Prescription Drug Abuse And The Treatment Of Attention...
Prescription drug abuse has been around since doctors started prescribing medication,
but widespread prescription drug abuse and addiction has only surfaced in the last 20
years or so. Unfortunately because these drugs are continued to be abuse widely, there
are concerns for physicians who are legitimately prescribing these medications to
patients who truly need them. However there are doctors who recklessly prescribe
these drugs to unknowing patients who form addictions to them. Prescription
medications commonly abused include opioids often prescribed to treat pain, central
nervous system depressants used to treat anxiety, and stimulants used for the
treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit
Disorder (ADD) as well as some sleeping disorders.
OxyContin, a widely abused prescription opioid was synthesized from thebaine, an
organic chemical found in opium. Oxycodone was synthesized in 1916 in Frankfurt,
Germany in Bayer Pharmaceutical labs shortly after the company stopped the mass
production of heroin. Oxycodone was hoped to contain the strong analgesic affects of
morphine and heroin with less dependence. Oxycodone clinical trials began in 1917
and the drug was introduced on the market in May of 1939. In 1969 the United
Nations Office on Drugs and Crime classified oxycodone as a dangerous drug as part
of The Dangerous Drug (Amendment) Ordinance. Oxycodone is classified as a

  • 1. Essay On Good School Writing an essay on the topic "Essay On Good School" can be quite challenging, primarily because the concept of a "good school" is subjective and multifaceted. The difficulty arises from the need to define what constitutes a good school and then provide comprehensive arguments and evidence to support that definition. Firstly, one must consider various perspectives on what makes a school "good." Is it academic excellence, a nurturing environment, extracurricular opportunities, teacher quality, facilities, or a combination of these factors? Each perspective requires in-depth analysis and evaluation. Secondly, researching and gathering relevant information to support the chosen perspective can be time-consuming. It involves exploring educational theories, examining case studies of successful schools, and possibly conducting surveys or interviews to gather firsthand experiences. Moreover, crafting a coherent and persuasive argument requires critical thinking and effective communication skills. It's essential to organize thoughts logically, present evidence convincingly, and address potential counterarguments to strengthen the essay's credibility. Additionally, writing an engaging introduction to capture the reader's attention and a compelling conclusion to leave a lasting impression requires creativity and precision in language use. Overall, writing an essay on the topic of a "good school" demands thorough research, critical analysis, effective communication, and creativity, making it a challenging task. • 2. The Need for Groundwater Extraction Regulation Groundwater is used primarily for irrigating farmland; and secondarily, for consumption and industrial use. Aquifers, unconsolidated subterranean layers which hold water, are rapidly dwindling, and groundwater depletion is quickly growing to become a major problem for farmers and the public at large. Reserves close to ground level are rapidly drying up and due to technological roadblocks, extracting water from deeper reserves is not yet financially feasible. The problem is especially severe in California, which represents around 20% of all groundwater withdrawal in the United States (Famiglietti, LA Times). A lack of water for agriculture would directly lead to diminished food production and indirectly lead to requiring food imports from outside the state. Groundwater resources are an unregulated public resource and despite any innovative breakthrough in extraction techniques, the only sustainable, long term solution is to enforce limits on extraction. Regulation of how much groundwater can be extracted from an aquiferin a set period of time; along with incentives to obtain water from alternative sources is the ideal solution to address the perennially growing challenge of groundwater depletion in California. This regulatory effort must begin in politics but it needs to spread to society as well only when people realize the consequences of over extraction will they even consider ceasing doing so. This solution is not based primarily in science and technology, and is
  • 3. Gender Roles In Remember The Titans Most people don t realize that the media play up the stereotypes and gender roles that are out there. We don t realize that the movies and television shows we watch feed into the stereotypes and gender roles that we believe in. Remember the Titans, directed by Boaz Yakin, tells the story about a high school football coach, Herman Boone, attempting to integrate T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria in 1971. Boone coming to T.C. Williams High School really upset many parents and students. When the parents of the football players found out he was going to be helping the head coach, Bill Yoast, many were fuming with anger. Why? Because he is African American. Parents did not want their children playing African American children in sports or sitting next to them in classrooms. This movie is based on a true story and the film challenges everything we claim we know about discrimination and racism in school. Boone and his family face horrible experiences when moving to Alexandria. When moving to the neighborhood, many neighbors were so upset but many were also happy that he didn t back down. He was offered the head coach position but turned it down because he felt it would be incredibly disrespectful to Coach Yoast. Boone Yoast agreed to make the relationship work. The African American students meet with Coach Boone in the gym, the meeting turns into a disaster when Coach Yoast and the white students arrive and disturb the meeting. Gerry Bertier was one of the students among the crowd of white students to interrupt. I m Gerry Bertier. I m the only All America you got on this team. If you want us to play for you, you reserve over half the positions ...we don t need any of your people on defense we re already set. said by Gary Bertier to Coach Boone. Boone makes it clear that all players will be on the team regardless of the color of their skin. Many stereotypes come into play at this point in the movie. The coaches gather up all the players so they can go to training camp at Gettysburg College, while gathering the students on a bus, Boone makes the players sit next to each other. Neither one of the ethnic groups like this very much. Once they get to the camp, they get paired to room together. One of the
  • 4. A Historical Overview Of Julius Caesar Essay A Historical Overview of Julius Caesar (Shakespeare style) The fate of a nation determined by one man. With classic alliances and betrayals, the tale of Julius Caesar is still regarded as one of the greatest betrayals in human history. The fate of Rome was heading toward a dictatorship. Only the Roman Republic could stop Julius Caesar from ruling Rome. Little did the Roman Republic know that this assassination would later cause Octavian Caesar to become the first Emperor of the Roman Empire in 27 B.C.E. There is much to know about Julius Caesar. He was raised as a military man at a young age from his father who would eventually pass away on Caesar s sixteenth birthday. He also created the first governing triumvirate (Roman Republic) in 60 B.C.E. Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare credits his historical accuracy to Plutarch. Shakespeare is known to focus on the underlying character strengths and weaknesses, as well as the motives that Plutarch noted in many of the great ancient leaders (Hacht). Shakespeare created in depth characters through inspiration from Chaucer s writing. Shakespeare is able to use historical content from Plutarch and character analysis from studying Chaucer to give his characters three dimensional human qualities that audience members can relate to. Shakespeare also uses this story to put political views inside his play. Historically, England s literature and culture were thriving during Shakespeare s lifetime. He took classic historical stories

They learn first few things from siblings and caregiver. Most times, due to the economic situation of the family, children spend less time with parents due to education or employment. Most times, children are raised by relative or caregiver because parents have to work. Child development starts from when their cognitive skills are developed. Time spent by caregivers and Parents and their literacy level are important in early child development. Belsky et al.(2007) research on effect of early child care on children s showed that parenting was a stronger and more consistent predictor of children s development than early childcare experience while higher quality care predicted higher vocabulary scores. According to Susanna et al. (2004), Children display stronger social development when providers have educationbeyond high school. Children with high literate guardian are more likely to participate in children s home literacy activities. However, recently the public has grown increasingly aware on the benefits of marijuana. The drug is no longer for hippies who live in a van, at least not exclusively. It can be used by patients suffering from a variety of illnesses, including cancer, anxiety, depression, autism and more; however, studies are still being conducted on the effectiveness of these treatments. Many people advocate for the legalization of the drug solely based on the tax revenue it will provide. Although it is a notable benefit to the potential policy change, taxes do not affect equality nor efficiency of the economy. It is merely a transfer of money. Although the African American jail population today is nowhere near as large as it was in the 1800 s, it is still disproportionately disadvantaging African Americans along with other racial minorities. Not only are the incarceration rates unjust, but they are the largest in the world, despite a decline in violent crime for the past few decades (Lofstrom and Raphael, 2016). According to the Uniform Crime Reports, which categorize both property crimes and violent crimes, each month per 100,000 people. Property crimes include incidents involving the burglary and theft of property. Conversely, murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults are categorized as violent crimes (Lofstrom and Raphael, 2016). The data associated with both crimes shows a consistent decrease in reported crime since the 1990 s. Violent crime reports decreased from 750 in 1990 per 100,000 people to below 400 in 2010, while property crime reports went from a little over 5,000 to just under 3,000. It is important to note that only reports of crime went down, not crime itself; however, the numbers are significant enough to imply a decline in criminal activity. • 8. National Influenza Immunization Program In 1976, due to an outbreak of influenza at Fort Dix, New Jersey, the United States set a precedent in immunology by attempting to vaccinate the entire population of the country against the possibility of a swine type Influenza A epidemic. While a great many people were successfully immunized in a very short period of time, the National Influenza Immunization Program (NIIP) quickly became recognized as a failure, one reason being that the feared epidemic never surfaced at all. But this massive undertaking deserves more analysis than just a simple repudiation. For example, all evidence linked to the pathology, microbiology, and historical cycle of influenza and the outbreak at FortDix suggests that the reactions of the scientists and other... (Silverstein: 13) There are three types of influenza, depending on their activity: type A, which is usually the cause of outbreaks; type B, which is linked to sporadic cases, and type C, which rarely causes disease reactions. (Silverstein: 54) The virus which causes influenza enters the host through the respiratory tract, and binds itself to epithelial cells. The virus causes the cell to engulf it by endocytosis, and then fuses to the wall of the endocytic vesicle, injecting the contents of the virus into the cytosol of the cell. The RNA of the virus enter the nucleus of the cell, and spur the creation of new copies of the genes. These genes, as well as new viral proteins that are created in the cell, leave the cell as fresh viruses, budding off the plasma membrane of the cell. While Scientists still do not know a great deal about the communicability of influenza, they do know that it can be spread by human to human contact, and has some airborne stability. (Silverstein: 59) Specifically, the characteristics of the influenza at Fort Dix was extremely discouraging. First of all, it was very similar to the 1918 swine influenza A pandemic, which turned out to be one of the most lethal outbreaks of disease in recorded history, and one victim had already died. Also, while usually this disease is caused by exposure to pigs, it was obvious that this was the

  • 10. Marni Grossman The Beauty Myth In today s society beauty is a very important component to everyone. In order to be liked you must be thin, pretty, and smart, and if you don t possess one of these qualities then you must buy products that will help you achieve them. Women especially have to face these standards every day for the rest of their lives. The beauty myth is a way for the patriarchy to control women through power, control, and consumerism. It was created by the patriarchy to keep women in line and to have them focus on their looks rather than the power that they possess for advancement. Naomi Wolf describes the beauty myth as, a way to keep male dominance intact...women must unnaturally compete for resources that men have appropriated for themselves (Wolf 120).... Overweight women experience this discrimination from the norm as well because of their weight. They are underpaid because of their weight and society often thinks that they are lazy and that they have no self control. These two groups of women face many challenges in society because they do not fit into beauty standards that men have set for

Bryan Williams Research Paper Bryan Williams is a veteran musician/songwriter best known as one of the most prolific and widely sought after session keyboardists in Philadelphia, performing an estimated 100? world tours in a 30 year career. As a writer, Williams is credited for songs such as: Rose Royce s Lonely Road (ft Grover Washington Jr.), and Teddy Pendergrass Spend the Night. From his days as a session musician with Jean Carne, Rose Royce, Grover Washington, Teddy Pendergrass, Regina Belle, and Phyllis Hyman, Bryan is considered one of the pioneers of what is called the Philly Sound . Williams was born and raised in Philadelphia PA, in the North Philly section of the city. It was there where he realized his love for music, and his gift for playing the keyboard. He credits much of his early influence to the late Bill Doggett, a Philadelphia born jazz and rhythm and blues pianist and organist who was best known for his compositions Honky Tonk and Hippy Dippy ; and playing with the Ink Spots, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Jordan. • 12. Social Injustice In Kettle Bottom Social Injustice Explored in Kettle Bottom At the beginning of the twentieth century, the United States moved from an agricultural economy to an industrial economy based on textile factories, steel mills, and new inventions. The mechanization of America required an energy source, and that energy source was coal. Diane Gilliam Fisher, a sixty one year old American poet, uses her poems in Kettle Bottom to tell the world about the mining community. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to information from the Mine Safety and Health Administration in the early 1900s mine explosions and other accidents claimed thousands of victims. The deadliest year in United States coal mining history was 1907, when an estimated 3,242 deaths occurred (Injury Trends in Mining). While many miners died in mine accidents, For each laborer killed directly, several were maimed, and several more found their lives shortened by coal dust, lead, and other poisons (Andrews). When a miner was unable to perform his job even if this was due to work related issues, he got replaced. The disabled miner was given no compensation, no resources to provide for his family, and no medical care; he was simply tossed aside by company officials. The chance of an explosion or the collapse of a tunnel roof due to unsafe working conditions and machinery was so great that mothers, wives, and daughters had to memorize physical attributes or tangible aspects of clothing in case they needed to identify the body of a loved one. Fisher acknowledges this haunting reality in Explosion at Winco No. 9 when she writes that it is Us that learns by heart birthmarks, scars, bends of fingers, how the teeth set crooked or straight (L10 12). Magstadt defines the term justice as The extent to which individual rights (that is, natural, human, or civil rights) are respected by government. It can be accurately inferred that if something is justified, it holds a reasoning that respects the individual rights of the people. Various methods of justification are expressed through Corazon Aquinos rise to presidency. This can be explored with the following question: to what extent was Corazon Aquino s presidential election in the Philippines justified by former president Ferdinand Marcosactions as leader? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marcos used this so he could arrest quickly without the need to trial. However, for the public, the abolishment of their individual rights is a violation of justice. People even started to suspect Ferdinand Marcos as being the culprit of the Plaza Miranda bombing. The suspension of Habeas Corpus threw the public into a frenzy. Multiple cases were filed, including a petition to return the writ of Habeas Corpus by Benigno Aquino Jr., Corazon Aquino s husband. The case was called Aquino V. Enrile; Enrile was the name of the national defense secretary. The petitioners were arrested and the case favored Enrile due to a clause in the constitution stating, he [the president] may suspend the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus, or place the Philippines or any part thereof under martial law. This case may have changed the public s reactions to the suspension of Habeas Corpus, but not their opinions about it. They may not declare petitions to restore their writ of Habeas Corpus, but they will certainly keep their ambiguous feelings about it. Once Corazon Aquino was elected president in 1986, she sought to restore democracy in the Philippines. One of Aquino s first actions as president was changing the Philippines constitution. Her reconstructed constitution contained more democratic concepts as well solidifying the writ of Habeas Corpus. The sudden, yet glorious, change Aquino brought upon the Filipino people after Marcos dictatorship only justified

Martin Luther And John Calvin Views On Sinful People Martin Luther and John Calvin В Views on Sinful People Justification by faith (Sola Fide), the core value of the Reformation, is the belief that righteousness from God is a recompense for sinner s accounts through faith alone. The sixteenth century movement for the reform of abuses in the Roman Catholic Church resulted in the establishment of the Reformed and Protestant Churches. Reformers like Martin Luther and John Calvin were two of the most significant figures in the history of The Reformation. To compare Martin Luther s and John Calvin s view on the subject of a sinful person, I thoroughly looked into their common doctrines and considered how they differ in implementing the rules that manage their ideology. I was able to conclude that even though Luther and Calvin shared similar doctrines, their conceptualization and interpretation of those doctrines is very different. Based on their opinions of sinners, I further realized that not only do they have divergent interpretations of similar doctrines, but they also have different ambitions and their personalities are extreme opposites. Luther often blamed the flesh, which Protestants refer to as our sinful nature (they believed is the cause of human impurities), for the sins of every human and he gave credit to the

In the very first lines of The General Prologue, Chaucer is already demonstrating how his work can be read in two ways: nominalistically and realistically. The nominalist, Chaucer s pilgrim narrator, sees the lines meant to interpret one way, while the realist, Chaucer the poet, interprets the lines another way. This characteristic is evident when Beth said I ll tell you what we ll do, let s each get her (their dear mother) something for Christmas, and not get anything for ourselves (6). • 40. Elizabeth s Soft Nature Of The Perfect Woman Elizabeth s soft nature conveys the epitome of the perfect woman during the early to mid nineteenth century. The readers are introduced to Elizabeth primarily through her looks. In Frankenstein, others are compared to Elizabeth s beauty as her fairness attracts attention from the hardy little vagrants surrounding her (Shelley 32). The other children are described as vagrants, homeless wanderers, while Elizabeth embodies an angelic nature. The juxtaposition of her light, fair appearance among the dark, poor other children attracted the attention of Caroline Frankenstein, leading to her safety from poverty and entrance into a higher social status. Elizabeth, the perfect woman, lacked the hardy and tough nature of the other children, and belonged in a higher social class. As Elizabeth expands her education she partakes in the traditional education of a woman during the Romanticist era as she busied herself with following the aerial creations of the poets; and in the majestic and wondrous scenes (Shelley 35). While Victor discovers natural laws and science, Elizabeth educates herself in her beautiful surroundings of nature. Her knowledge is grounded in the whimsical flights of poets during Shelley s contemporary and immensely more carefree and naГЇve than that of her male counterpart. Furthermore she symbolizes the most naГЇve force love to balance Victor s determination and curiosity as she was the living spirit of love to soften and attract (Shelley 37).

Being in the Right Place at the Right Time; Army The main reason for this essay is because I did not follow standard operating procedure and was not at the correct place of duty for accountability of my person while on quarters as prescribed by my doctor. Regardless of my reasons for absence, there is no excuse as to why I was not in my barracks room as I had been ordered to be or at a minimum give a courtesy call to my chain of command if I needed to go anywhere for any reason. I want to be an excellent soldier and I want to excel in the military, but in order to be such a soldier I need to be more responsible for my actions. For example, if I had not been in my room when I was on quarters, and a fire had erupted in the barracks, I would now be putting my battle buddies or superiors trying to locate me at an extreme and unnecessary risk, especially if they were unable to contact me by phone or if I had not contacted the chain of command. With communication, punctuality and being at your prescribed place of duty all being essential facets of military life and having a direct correlation to the soldierly appearance and combat readiness of a unit, these kinds of faults and mistakes cannot be allowed to permeate our disciplined ranks and taint the effectiveness of our unit . Without punctuality, and therefore discipline there can be no effectiveness or efficiency in our mission of protecting our own and destroying our enemies. If we cannot efficiently destroy the enemy we are no longer an effective or worthwhile unit in the Army. Scheduling the work day and being accountable for each one of your soldiers is one of the most important duties any leader in the Army has from a sergeant major all the way down to squad or team leader positions. With that being said, I cannot express enough that being at the right place at the right time is extremely essential to the defense of the entire United States of America and extremely essential to mission readiness and being able to complete the mission promptly. It s because of this that being where I am instructed to be is so remarkably important. Without

Examples Of Irony In The Convergence Of The Twain In Thomas Hardy s poem, The Convergence of the Twain , the speaker displays a peaceful and nonviolent interpretation towards the tragedy of the sinking of the grand ship known as the Titanic. By using immense amounts of irony, personification, and irony, Hardy is able to strengthen his claim that sinking of the Titanic was destined to occur due to both vanityof humans and mother nature. The first section of The Convergence of the Twain illustrates how humans are the cause of the sinking of the ship. The section also describes how the ship is free from human vanity and how it finally gets to be at peace. Instead of viewing this event as a tragedy, it is viewed in a positive way with a more peaceful and tranquil ending. In lines 2 and 3, Deep from human vanity, And the Pride of Life that planned her, stilly couches she , it explains how as a result of the ship being at the ocean floor, she is away from human corruption. Its summer time and the most important thing in hot weather is the need to quench your thirst. What is a better drink then a refreshing Lemonade. Since long I was very much interested in opening a lemonade stand, which I finally decided to have it implemented before the summer season starts. After a lot of research and hard work I have come up with a business model that would work efficiently in generating revenue and also help local community. Brand: The brand name that I came up with is a catchy and trendy word which I think represents the product and justifies the product s need in hot season. The brand name would be GO COOL Real Lemonade. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pricing Strategy: Since the Lemonade business depends on lemon and sugar, our company will have to keep an eye on the stock needed and the availability of the two item locally and internationally. Even though the business will be at the peak in summer and will slow down in winter, a close monitoring on the international prices is a must. The future plan of the company is to expand in other continents by giving out franchise. So if it winter in US we generate business revenue from countries like Australia and New Zealand where they would have summer. To keep standard pricing and profit margin for the franchises, a detailed costing would be required. The things that are needed to be considered would be Cost of Lemon, Cost of Sugar, Cost of water, Cost of container, 10% overheads (labor, rent, utilities, etc), 5% franchisingfee and 7% profit margin. In addition to this pricing 2% price fluctuation will be added to the cost. With this calculation the company and the franchises should make enough money to survive in the competitive market. Global Market: Even though the product can be packed in a container and can be sold globally, I would prefer to have local franchises so that we can provide pure and authentic lemonade without preservatives as we promised. Also, opening a franchise will give local people employment, which is also a way to give back to the community. If we stick to the plans and ethics, I think our company has a bright future

Something beautiful can be said of poems that were written about blackberries. The descriptive words poets use, can make a simple fruit into something truly amazing. These poems all compare blackberries, making them seem like more than they are. These two poems are dedicated to different seasons of blackberry picking, describe the fruititself to be something different, and are written with different writing styles. The first lines of both poems begin with a time. Blackberry picking takes place in late August. Heaney described the weather needed for that time of year to find the perfect blackberries. He told the reader, given heavy rain and sun for a full week, the blackberries would ripen. This is very similar to what Kinnell is saying with the first lines of his poem, Blackberry Eating . His poem begins, in late September among the fat, overripe, icy, black blackberries. This loss of elastic recoil occurs as the disease destroys the walls of the alveoli. Airway resistance is also increased as the lung tissue in general becomes more flimsy and exerts less mechanical tethering on the surrounding airways. Thus the lung becomes overly compliant and expands easily. Conversely, a great effort is required to exhale as the lungs can no longer passively recoil and deflate. Anoticeable and exhausting muscular effort is required for each exhalation. Thus a person with emphysema exhales slowly. 1. Using this information, predict what lung values will change in the spirogram when the patient with
