OFDM or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a transmission scheme that is widely
used in broadcast and wireless communication technologies. Some of the applications employing
OFDM include Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB), Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB
T2), Wireless LAN, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and 4G Long
Term Evolution (LTE) radio technologies [1, 2]. Two of the main reasons to use OFDM are to
increase date rates and robustness against frequency selective fading. In the rest of this document an
overview of OFDM transmission theory is given.
1 Basic principles of OFDM
OFDM is a multicarrier transmission technique that splits the total available bandwidth into many
narrowband sub channels at equidistant frequencies. The sub channel spectra overlap each other
but the subcarrier signals are still orthogonal. The single high rate data stream is subdivided into
many low rate data streams for the sub channels. Each sub channel is modulated individually and all
the sub channels are transmitted simultaneously in a superimposed and parallel form.
An OFDM transmit signal therefore consists of adjacent orthogonal subcarriers spaced by the

The Evolution of Poverty in America Poverty is a hardship that has existed in every milestone of
American history. War impacted the economy of the country after the Civil War. The twentieth
century would see wars, natural disasters, and economical depressions that contributed to the
developing culture of poverty. Poverty in any time period is a shattering experience. While being
poor during the Reconstruction, the Great Depression, and the Civil Rights movement were each
devastating, the nature of poverty would evolve as the culture of each decade evolved. The
character of poverty changed most dramatically over the years through Americans perception of
standards of living and the government s response to poverty. War always has a major impact on
the economy of a country. The Civil War threw the South into poverty. America had been divided
by the Civil War and needed to find a way to heal the rift. The way to do this seemed to be for the
South to shift to industry, like the North. During the 1880s, Henry W. Grady promoted the concept
of the New South that would be modeled on the industry of the North. He and his supporters
promoted education and industrialization as the way to rebuild the South. The southern states

The moraines is a general term for glacier deposited landforms composed of till (526). The
features usually are irregular and is normally longer than wider. The three types of moraines in
glacial deposition of ice sheets are terminal, recessional and ground. Terminal moraine is the front

Currently, I am a sophomore studying Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the University
of Nevada, Reno. As a college student, one of the most important aspect of my education career is
to gain different kind of experiences from opportunities that are offer at the university. Personally, I
believe that completing a paid, local internship can give students, such as myself, the chance to
gain valuable work experience and build networks and connections, while applying knowledge and
skills in real life settings. Every type of experiences that exist, such as internships, offer me the

influential thinkers that inspired new invention and also inspired revolutions. All of these thinkers
had different views on people and government and different views of people and how they act.
Many of these authoritative individuals thoughts still influence us even today. Many of their ideas
are used in governmentand also as guidelines for people to live their lives by. John Locke and
Baron de Montesquieu both helped to build our constitutionand we borrowed some of their ideas

In 1748 he published On the Spirit of Laws which was a book describing his views on
government. It goes into detail about how his idea of three branches of government and the
separation of powers in the government would work. He also cites example of governments
similar to his idea of separated powers. He also wrote about empires before his time and how
their laws influenced many countries. He also pointed out what laws worked and the laws that
were fair and just to the people. He also alluded to parts of earlier governments that demonstrated
his ideas and thoughts. The views of these two influential thinkers were considered very radical
in their time because their views were radical and very different from any form of government
that anyone back then had ever heard of or dreamed possible. They thoughts that a government
run by the people would be chaotic. They had never heard of any more separation of power than
in England, where it was a limited monarchy. Their views on people were also influential
especially Locke s views. He gave people the idea that they are more than just slaves for the
government and that they should have some say in how their government is run. These ideas and
