A Spiritual Gain but a Financial Lose
Meditation has always been seen as a way to keep the mind and soul healthy. Mediation dates back
to 1500 BCE originating in Ancient India. The practice soon started to expand and adapt to other
cultures around the world. Some of the earliest references to meditation are found in the Hindu
scriptures and it was around the 6th to 5th centuries that other forms of meditation developed into
Confucian, Taoist China, and Buddhist India (Taham). This spiritual and religious practice has
been around for thousands of years, benefiting many people. However, in the year 2017 mediation
no longer feels like a spiritual practice but rather like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research suggests that meditation may physically change the brain and body and could potentially
help to improve many health problems and promote healthy behaviors. In a 2012 study,
researchers compared brain images from 50 adults who meditate and 50 adults who don t meditate.
Results suggested that people who practiced meditation for many years have more folds in the
outer layer of the brain. This process (called gyrification) may increase the brain s ability to process
information (Meditation: In Depth).
In many ways, the scientific studies showing how positive mediation has created this craze of
mediation. Mediation can be linked to many exercise practices such as yoga. Meditation and yoga
go hand in hand. Spending a few minutes of meditating then go into a hard body workout of yoga
than ending the class with meditation. Many private yoga studies promote the practice of
meditation and yoga increasing prices of their facility. Famous instructor Holly Rilinger is a perfect
example. Rilinger has created this workout called Calm and Cardio starting with a five minute
guided meditation and then launches into cardio and strength training intervals using bodyweight
and dumbbells. During each song, you alternate between two exercises while moving to the beat of
the booming music (Held). She has combined meditation with exercises and is now using this
technique of meditation to create an empire.
Exercise meditation is not the only thing that is expanding. There are

Plot Summary Of The Play Sure Thing
Sure Thing is a Drama surrounding two character. The two character go through a series of
scenarios in order to obtain the best outcome. The two characters are named Bill and Betty. As the
drama progresses, these characters reveal to be dynamic and round. Bill and Betty are motivated to
accomplish their goal. The characters goals, motivation, and type will describe the characters. Both
characters wish to accomplish something. Betty s wishes to be left alone and resists Bills advances.
Evidence of this is displayed through the characters dialogue and actions. The dialogue that reveals
the most about Betty s wish to be left alone can be found on page 1190. BETTY. Maybe you re

Betty warms up to Bill and Bill continues to persevere. Betty first shows coldness in her
dialogues but later converses with him in a warmer way. For example, in the beginning she will
tell bill the seat was taken or let him sit then just ignore him (Ives, 1187 1188). Bill on the other
had would continue after every ring to start a positive a positive conversation, even though it
may not always turn out positive he always tries different tactics. A negative tactic was when he
tried to hit on her and instead spurred her anger or annoyance (Ives, 1190). A positive tactic was
when he spoke of safe subject such as what kind of book she was reading (Ives, 1188 1189). They

But Im A Cheerleader Movie Analysis
The satirical movie But I m a Cheerleader was directed by Jamie Babbit and based on 1999
writings of Brian Wayne Peterson. The movie covers exciting representations of queer
characters and is centered on conversion therapy which seems an outdated practice in modern
films. Conversion therapy is rehabilitation that converts an individual s homosexual desires to
regain heterosexual desires. Megan is the main character in the movie with many friends and a
dreamy boyfriend who acts like a typical preppy cheerleader. As per the movie, Megan hardly
kisses her boyfriend, and her parents thought of her to be a lesbian (Talburt 17 39). The parents
later sent Megan to a youth camp that goes by the name True Directions which was for an ex gay
run by Mike and Mary Brown. In that camp, Megan came across Cathy who was facing threats
from her own father of being cut off completely. She never took these threats lightly even though
she refuses to contain her attraction to sex. When Mary Brown the owner of the camp, tries to
make Graham and Megan heterosexual they end up being romantic and this makes Megan discover
her earlier inhibited sexuality. Therefore, the paper will argue on queer representation as evident in

therapy as an intervention to Megan s behavior. Though But I m a Cheerleader movie is satirical
and full of ridiculous stereotypes; situations in which Megan avoided kissing her boyfriend

and could not be a lesbian (Talburt 17 39). She gave many reasons claiming she was not a lesbian
but her parents denied and sent her to seek help from Christian Conversion Therapy

Essay On What Led Up To The Civil War Dbq
During the period of 1820 1840, the Industrial Revolution created a transparent divide between the
Northern and Southern regions. Evidently, the Industrial Revolution proposed change in the
Northern way of life to a more opportunistic environment, but the Southern regions remained the
same encompassed by the use of slaveryfor their own benefit. Moral tensions arose from the
complications between the two regions, creating abolitionist groups and extremists to dictate an
impending battle between the North and South. The Civil War was an inevitable feat due to
northern extremism and the differing perspectives of proper leadership of both sides.

Both regions believed their ideals were proper therefore causing this type of leadership as
inconceivable at the time. Northern candidate, Abraham Lincoln was a strong proponent towards
the unification of America whether it appeased the northern abolitionists or the southern
plantation owner (Doc 4). Similarly Stephen Douglas proposed the idea of popular sovereignty as
a means to unify the nation (Doc 5) . His ideals were more similar to the great compromisers Clay,
Webster, and Calhoun who were deceased. All five of these men had one goal, to unify America,
but the conflicting perspectives between Lincoln and Douglas lead to a stalemate, in which no
decision was made to save the country. Thus the American Civil Warbecame not an if but when?
In a time of crisis, Congress did not prove to be a beneficiary towards the rehabilitation of the
American Union. Indicated by the census of the two houses between 1849 1861, many decisions
would become biased towards the Democratic Party due to their representation in government (Doc
3). Rather than coming to a consensus about the issue at hand, congress establishes an invisible line
that indicates the divided North and South as free or slave states, fixating the battle between the

Human Heart Research Paper
The human heart is one of the most important organs that are in the human body. This organ is
necessary for people to be able to live. There are a couple of functions that the heart does that
makes it so important. It is responsible for circulating blood in the body, as well as ensuring that
the blood pressure is kept at a constant rate. Your heartcan be found in the center of your chest. The
human heart is divided into four quarters by a strong muscle. The upper portion of the heart is
known as the atria, and the lower portion is known as the ventricle.
The human heart is kept well protected by a sac and fluid that cushions it. The sac that the heart
is housed in is called the pericardium. Inside the walls of this sac is pericardial fluid, and this fluid
is responsible for cushioning the heart. There are three layers that the walls of the human heart are
made up of. The wall that is closest to the heart is called the endocardium, and this is the portion
that is in contact with the blood. The middle wall is called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

participants viewed 50 photos. Shortly afterwards they were shown the pictures again, with slight
changes. A couple of days later, the subjects were tested in their memory of the photographs. Some
participants recounted information true to the first set of photos, representing true memory, while
some recounted information true to the second set, representing false memory. When shown the
second set of information, some participants unconsciously came to the belief that the particular
information shown was the correct information, an example of memory distortion. These
distortions are showing us that our brain may only store fragmented, compressed bits of
information, Stark says. Of course, once you ve reconstructed it incorrectly once, you re probably

Ofdm Transmission By Stephen Kiambi
OFDM transmission
Author: Stephen Kiambi
Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of Nairobi
OFDM or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a transmission scheme that is widely
used in broadcast and wireless communication technologies. Some of the applications employing
OFDM include Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB), Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB
T2), Wireless LAN, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and 4G Long
Term Evolution (LTE) radio technologies [1, 2]. Two of the main reasons to use OFDM are to
increase date rates and robustness against frequency selective fading. In the rest of this document an
overview of OFDM transmission theory is given.
1 Basic principles of OFDM
OFDM is a multicarrier transmission technique that splits the total available bandwidth into many
narrowband sub channels at equidistant frequencies. The sub channel spectra overlap each other
but the subcarrier signals are still orthogonal. The single high rate data stream is subdivided into
many low rate data streams for the sub channels. Each sub channel is modulated individually and all
the sub channels are transmitted simultaneously in a superimposed and parallel form.
An OFDM transmit signal therefore consists of adjacent orthogonal subcarriers spaced by the
frequency distance on the frequency axis. All subcarrier signals are mutually orthogonal within the
symbol duration, , if the th unmodulated subcarrier signal is described

All The Pretty Horses
Death. If one thing is inevitable in life, it is death. Whether figuratively or literally, the conclusion
to anything always comes, and whether for the better or the worse, something new always
emerges. Cormac McCarthy s All The Pretty Horses starts at that conclusion. The death of
protagonist John Grady Cole s grandfather closes one period of his life and as a result a new
whole period begins. It explores the new period in his journey throughout Mexico, and it is the one
thing that always follows.
In his novel, McCarthy uses death as a moving action for the main protagonist, John Grady Cole.
A person whose beliefs and dreams lie in the past generation and not in the his time of 1950 s Texas/
Mexico, he encounters death frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are no longer in the peaceful hacienda setting anymore and are instead in a deep hole which
they themselves have to dig out of. Following the murder of Blevins is the scene in the prison
where John Grady Cole kills an attacker. That initiates the reveal of John Grady Cole s violent
and wild side. Only when he is on his own near the conclusion of the novel and he suddenly
knows that his father has died, is it that he is finally free of all ties to the modern world.
Therefore it is clear to see the significance that death has in the major plot points of John Grady
Cole s journey throughout All The Pretty Horses. It affects every single thing that he goes through
whether he likes it or not. It is the moving action within his journey. It is what sets him off. If it
was not for death, he would still be in San Angelo, Texas he would have never done numerous
things such as meeting Alejandra and Blevins or being in charge of dozens of horses at a time.
In fact, it can be argued that death is not only the moving action within All The Pretty Horses, but
also the main antagonist. John Grady Cole begins the novel wanting to stay wherever he is but it
always has other plans for him. When talking to Rawlins after the two of them arrive at the
hacienda, he even explicitly states that he would like to stay there about a hundred years (McCarthy
96). Unbeknownst to him, because of how

Officials are not encouraging people to take the law into their own hands. They say that
neighbors can keep their eyes open for suspicious signs. Tall tale signs are: homes where trash
cans are never taken out to the street, where overgrown plants are never trimmed or where the
gardener or pool caretaker never comes. Some pot dealers in Northern California are realizing
that they have to change their way of living so that they won t be discovered by the law. So what
do they do? They hire gardeners to bring out the trash and cut their grass. This makes it look more
authentic. Gang members operating out of San Francisco set up operations in the Stockton,
Modesto and Sacramento suburbs. These pot farms are nationwide and the seizures have soared. A
drug commonly used by youths is Marijuana, and in relation Hashish. Commonly called pot , or

Propionibacterium species are gram positive anaerobic bacilli. These species are part of the
normal flora of human skin and mucosal surfaces such as oral cavity, gastrointestinal and

It can be treated topically or systemically. Other treatment options include the use of natural drugs
(6). Antibiotics are frequently used to treat acne patients. Long course regimens of antibiotics can
be prescribed to treat acne, which can reach 6 9 months. Most antibiotics prescribed for acne
treatment are: clindamycin, macrolides (e.g. erythromycin) and tetracyclines (5). However,
increasing resistance have made acne treatment challenging. The incidence of P. acnes antibiotic
resistance increased from 20% in 1978 to 72.5% in 1995 (8). Widespread resistance has become a
major dermatological issue (9) common prescribing antibiotics in dermatology clinics can be the
major cause of the antibiotic resistance due to significant selection pressure on bacteria (10). Some
studies has showed a relationship between antibiotic use and the development of resistance to P.
acnes in patients treated in general practice. In addition to that , it has showed cross resistance
between macrolides/lincosamides and tetracyclines. Other study has suggested that the rate of
resistance increases as the duration of antibiotic consumption increases (12). So, our study aims to o
identify the cause of the decreased susceptibility of propinobacterium acne to the commonly
prescribed antibiotics and to evaluate the current use of antibiotics in treating

groups: the control group that received no treatment; a stress only group exposed to a deep ice
/water mixture; the sham EA group exposed to cold stress followed by EA at a random site; and
the EA St36 group exposed to cold stress followed by EA at St36. After fourteen days, rats exposed

The authors effectively establish baseline hormone levels by ensuring the stress hormones
measured during experiments are not solely due to the procedural stress of acupuncture needles.
Acclamation ensures that the needles and procedure are no longer novel to the rats and the stress
related hormones primarily reflect exposure to the ice/water treatment.
Although Eshkevari et al. engage in clinically worthy research aided by a beneficial acclamation
protocol, major concerns arise regarding the generalizability of the results due to the utilization of
only male rats. The work of Vieira et al. (1) suggests that sexual dimorphism impacts the stress
response and demonstrates that female rats experience enhanced vulnerability to stress evoked
HPA axis changes. Even if the results of the Eshkevari et al. study propose EA at St36 as a
therapeutic option in male rats, sexual dimorphism may negate any therapeutic effects in female
rats and necessitates future research to determine if EA presents therapeutic benefits in both sexes.
Further concerns arise from the authors conclusion that EA benefits are specific to St36
stimulation. Eshkevari et al. cite elevated ACTH and CORT levels in sham EA rats as evidence
that the suppression of the stress hormones is specific to EA at St36. The results section, however,

Critical Appreciation Of Poetry
Poetry comes up very often in our lives whether we realize it or not. Poetry has managed to leave a
significant impact on my life. Since I ve been a kid, I ve always defined poetry as a bunch of
words on a page. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now, and the two poems, How To
Eat a Poem by Eve Merriam and, A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert combined to expand my
understanding of the analysis of poetry; my ability to judge poetry s meaning; and poetry s actual
definition. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now helped to expand my
understanding of the poem: A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert. It also reinforced my belief
that analysis is needed to gain full enjoyment of poetry. The first time around, it may be hazy, but,
the second time around, the clouds will part and the sun will shine through. Similarly, the first
time you read something and you don t understand it, you go back and reread it. The poem, A
Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert made no sense whatsoever when I read it the first time. I
thought it was supposed to help ameliorate my definition of poetry but it did no such thing. Sorrow
everywhere. Slaughter everywhere... praise the Devil... After reading such things, I found the poem
to be useless in enhancing my definition of poetry. I was so confused with the mention of blood,
slaughter, starvation, poverty, and sickness when I thought the poem was supposed to have an
influence on my understanding of poetry. The

Since the global financial downturn in late 2008, retailing has since delivered negative growth.
Employment within the sector, the second largest single employer within Australia , also fell by
6% in 2009. Fashion retailers are continually at the mercy of consumer spending especially during
economic downturns. In fact, the fashion industry in 2009 delivered a negative sales turnover of
1.9%. Not surprisingly, department store sales also plummeted to 3.5%.
Generally speaking, with the current climate lacking economic stimulus coupled with higher
interest rates and media reports generating signs of an economic recovery, analysts are predicting
that eventually the retail trade sector will gradually resurface into positive territory. Customers will
be more pragmatic and cautious about the future which will yield new patterns of behavior and
relationships.

The Evolution Of Poverty During The Civil War
THE EVOLUTION OF POVERTY IN AMERICA
Missy Worrells
Modern History 1073
November 19, 2014
The Evolution of Poverty in America Poverty is a hardship that has existed in every milestone of
American history. War impacted the economy of the country after the Civil War. The twentieth
century would see wars, natural disasters, and economical depressions that contributed to the
developing culture of poverty. Poverty in any time period is a shattering experience. While being
poor during the Reconstruction, the Great Depression, and the Civil Rights movement were each
devastating, the nature of poverty would evolve as the culture of each decade evolved. The
character of poverty changed most dramatically over the years through Americans perception of
standards of living and the government s response to poverty. War always has a major impact on
the economy of a country. The Civil War threw the South into poverty. America had been divided
by the Civil War and needed to find a way to heal the rift. The way to do this seemed to be for the
South to shift to industry, like the North. During the 1880s, Henry W. Grady promoted the concept
of the New South that would be modeled on the industry of the North. He and his supporters
promoted education and industrialization as the way to rebuild the South. The southern states
would grow tobacco and cotton, and expand their textile industry. Yet the South was still was not
prospering.
Southerners had to adjust to a new

Essay on The Marxist Ideal Cannot Work
The Marxist ideal, a highly appealing, almost Utopian
society, is impossible to achieve due to the fact that it
demands that the human mind be almost without flaws. It
asks of society and its members to be absolutely without
ranks, without greed or leadership. This has been clearly
impossible for society. Each step to achieving a communist
establishment has been, continues to be, and will be, in
actuality, a step towards the totalitarian societies of past
and current so called communist countries. Communism
became popular solely in under developed countries,
contrary to Marx s beliefs as to what should happen, and
its rise in these countries was the beginning of its fall. Marx
believed that the only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the formation of this
Communist government began the downfall of Marx s
Ideal. Lenin had established a so called Marxist
government, but he felt that Russia was not yet ready for
the Marxist idea of Communism. He believed that the
country first had to be industrialized. That had been one of
Marx s stipulations. Secondly, Lenin felt that the new ruling
class, the proletariat, was not yet ready for ruling, so he
took up the position. That is where the chief problem lies,
in the implementation of the Marxist Ideal. From the very
beginning, even prior to the foretold revolution, the ideal is
fitted to the leaders viewpoints, which is completely
opposite to what Marx had envisioned. The problem with
capitalism, as Marx saw it, was that leaders were taking the
lives and futures of others in their hands and using them to
their advantage and this was forever escalating. As Leninist
Russia progressed, Lenin guaranteed that people did not
gain too much freedom and implemented such forces as the
secret police and one party rule. Thus, through initial
adaptations of the system as envisioned by its creator, the
distortion of the ideal is present even in its beginnings.
Following the first step towards communism is the
revolution that Marx predicted would ultimately occur.
However, through a revolution, especially a violent one that
Marx deemed would

million years ago and ended about 10,000 years ago (513). This was the most recent ice agewhere it
helped formed our present day lands. During this time, ice covered about 19 million square miles
which was about 1/3 of earths land surface (515). Many parts of all the continents were covered
with ice and that had a great effect on our topography due to the glaciers it created. The two
primary types of glaciers are continental ice sheets and mountain... Show more content on

The moraines is a general term for glacier deposited landforms composed of till (526). The
features usually are irregular and is normally longer than wider. The three types of moraines in
glacial deposition of ice sheets are terminal, recessional and ground. Terminal moraine is the front
part of a glacier where all the power is. Although glaciers may appear to stop moving forward, the
internal part of the glacier continues to give strength to its movement. Recessional moraine is
right behind the terminal moraine where the ice would spread out putting pressure out to the
edges in bulges. The last type is called ground moraine and that is when large quantities of till are
laid down from underneath the glacier rather than from its edge (527). A feature we see from the
glaciers deposition is an elongated hill (527) called a drumlin. These long, small hills that are
usually in groups, are much smaller than moraines but still made predominantly of

Case Study Of Harley Davidson Inventory Management
Inventory
Inventory is the goods that a business has on its premises or on consignment. The essential role of
inventory is to act as a buffer, allowing for the smooth functioning of the production and order
fulfillment processes.
Inventory Control
Inventory control is the processes employed to maximize a company s use of inventory. The goal of
inventory control is to generate the maximum profit from the least amount of inventory investment
without intruding upon customer satisfaction levels.
Two fundamental decisions that one has to make when controlling inventory:
How large should an inventory replenishment order be? When should an inventory replenishment

Organizational Concepts Of Organizational Vocabulary
Organizational Change Vocabulary Increasing my organizational vocabulary is particularly useful
for me given that my organization is in the process of a long term transition due to environmental
changes in moving from a print based business to a digital based business. The company has also
embarked on transformational change starting in 2013 to reduce costs, and increase market share in
emerging markets where the education aged demographics will be growing in the future. The first
change to radically restructure the company from a series of holding companies to one operating
company with centralization of back office systems with shared products that are to be localized
regionally was implemented by the consulting company Deliotte. The company is learning what
does and does not work, and is not revising the organization in response to lessons learned with the
Hay Consulting Group. I reviewed the main change managementmodels to acquaint myself with the
processes both consulting groups have employed, and chose key terms that I have heard during my
experience, or have been introduced to me as part of the course readings. Unfreezing, moving,
refreezing: Lewin s theory involves leadership unfreezing the organizational environment by
causing discomfort for the individuals within the organization to gain acknowledgement and
support for the need for change (Spector, 2013; Zenab Kazmi Naarananoja, 2013). Once

Analysis Of Of Mice And Men And Death Of A Salesman
Julia Savu
Coursework question:
How does the writer Of Mice And Men and Death Of A Salesman present the theme of
hopelessness and failure of the American Dream? American Dream: Every women and men should
have the opportunity to achieve their goals and their dreams, no matter of their social class or their
ability.
Hopelessness: Having dreams/goals but knowing there s a small chance of them being
accomplished in future.
The writers of the books Of Mice And Men and Death Of A Salesmanhave a certain use of words
/phrases that demonstrate a clear use of the themes hopelessness and failure of the American Dream
.
To begin with, John Steinbeck has used the following quote: I could live so easy have a girl
maybe . This quote presents how one of the main characters George is feeling hopeless about his
dreams as he knows that taking care of Lennie would mean his dreams will be hard to achieve as
it is a big responsibility to be with Lennie due to his mental difficulties. Furthermore, the writer
has used the phrase: I could live so easy if I didn t have you on my tail gives us a clear
suggestion that George is directly telling Lennie how easy his life would be without him. John
Steinbeck is also directly telling us how George and Lennie present the theme of hopelessness in
the book by showing how Lennie has to be taken care of by George and how Lennie is and extra
advantage for George because of his strong physical ability.

The Pack Internship Grant Program
The Pack Internship Grant Program was founded to expand access to high quality internships for
Nevada undergrads in all majors. How will you personally benefit from an opportunity to complete
a paid, local internship?
Currently, I am a sophomore studying Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the University
of Nevada, Reno. As a college student, one of the most important aspect of my education career is
to gain different kind of experiences from opportunities that are offer at the university. Personally, I
believe that completing a paid, local internship can give students, such as myself, the chance to
gain valuable work experience and build networks and connections, while applying knowledge and
skills in real life settings. Every type of experiences that exist, such as internships, offer me the
chance to enhance my strengths, understand the world around me, and to push myself in
continuing to develop as an individual to become successful in life. For example, I was selected as
an art intern for the Summer Business Institute Program in Summer 2014. Throughout the eight
weeks of exploring to arts, I had an opportunity to work with a team of artists to create a mural
and an art piece for two local community centers in Las Vegas as well as organizing a civil
engagement project for a neighborhood that have families who are in need of financial aid. As a
result, we were thanked by the families to sponsor an event for their children to enjoy art for a day.

Social Cultural Context Of Behavior Change Interventions
Much of the current scholarly literature argues that managing workplace culture is an increasingly
vital subject in any organisation. Workplace culture, also known as organizational culture can be
defined as the values, beliefs, norms and assumptions that contribute to the unique social and
psychological environment of any organization (The Business Dictionary, 2015). Research has
recognized that a strong workplace culture is not only important for the successfulness and
sustainability of a company, but for the welfare of the individuals who work in it (Glisson, 2007).
Over the years numerous interventions have been implemented within organisations in order to
improveworkplace culture. This review will aim to report findings on the social cultural context of
behaviour change interventions based on teamwork interventions, mindfulness interventions
leadershiptraining interventions.
Teamwork is a significant element in any workplace, as it offers all employees the sense of unity,
reliability and support, and gives them the ability to work together efficiently. An intervention
conducted by Bleakley et al (2012) aimed to investigate whether an education intervention would
result in a significant development of attitudes towards teamwork across a surgical provision. The
intervention was based on Crew Resource Management (CRM), which uses participatory action
research to familiarize the strategies within the specific team context. A longitudinal quasi

experienced a lot of events in common and change together throughout the book. There are
different types of changes that occurred throughout the book that caused for both Melanie and
Wanda to change. From innocence to knowledge for Wanda and from distrust to friendship for
Melanie. In the beginning of the book Wanda was introduced to a body in an unknown world.
She was surprised to find that she was occupying a resisting host which was rare. Wanda believed
that things would change, that the occupation of the human race on the earth by the souls was
complete like all the other planets, where she had successfully lived for a time. Melanie used

Descriptive Essay About Awe
Awe. Complete and utter awe. That was the only way I could ever describe the feeling the night
sky struck into me with its thousands upon thousands of stars. I had never seen the sky this
beautiful. I had never seen anything like this all my life. Taking a few steps back, I seated myself
on a stone that stood like a miniature plateau above the surrounding grass. I had been told this
would be the best spot to see the skytonight, and I had not been told a lie. I looked straight up so
that the rest of the Earth escaped my view, so that there would be nothing but the endless void
above me. It would have been intimidating, if not for the pure beauty of the stars that pierced
through the dark of night. I slowly looked down upon the town, away from the harsh contrast of
black and white to instead a blur of color. Children dashed in small circles around their parents,
women danced across the square wearing vibrant dresses, men sat to the side as they drank,
made cheerful conversation, and smiled, admiring the festival around them just as I was from the
top of my overlook, hidden by the night. I didn t want to leave. This was my new favorite
location in town. Unfortunately, I didn t want to miss the festival either. The sounds of the
celebration managed to lure me away. Beginning my descent, I could hear the music grow louder
and louder. I slid down the earthen wall I had strolled by most days of my life, but only climbed
for the first time this evening. I considered finding

Motivation And Productivity At Your Company Essay
Intro:
There is less than one third of Americans are engaged in their jobs in any given year.
How engaged are you at your company? Do you feel like your work is valued or even appreciated?
Most of us would like to be part of a company that makes us feel involved.
Being a current Intern I have several things I ve been assigned to do each day. One particular
program that I work with is tied directly to a goal that I have set for myself and I would like to
reach that goal by the end of my internship. By setting a goal I have become a more engaged
employee because I have set a precedent and an expectation for myself, which I plan to accomplish.
I can achieve this goal with the use of motivation and productivity, which will contribute to my
overall performance in the company.
With out the help of the goal I ve set for myself there would be a lack of engagement and drive to
achieve something. This can be said for any employee who doesn t have a set goal. Motivation,

Pearl Harbor Research Paper
The event that brought forth the Idea to attack japan and destroy the cities of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki was Pearl Harbor. Japan had a history of executing surprise attacks before declaring
war; one main example is when japan invaded Port Arthur in the Russo Japanese war which
would prove to be very successful . Many books were written prior to 1941 predicting an invasion
of the Hawaiian Islands to gain access to the United Statesmainland including The conflict of
nations , and The valor of ignorance . The United States saw the military base on Hawaiias a point
of power in the pacific and a last defense of their home land. Japan saw Hawaii as at point of
expansion and an easy way for the United States to launch an attack on them. Attacking Pearl
Harbor was not the original plan for japan. Japan wanted to bring the United States to them, but

of the easiest and most popular ways of obtaining pornographic material is over the Internet. The
only downside is that the Internetis accessible to children; therefore, pornographyis accessible to

Their biggest reason is the endangerment of American children that use the Internet. Children
can be endangered in many ways, one of which is being lured by a pedophile and possibly
sexually assaulted. A pedophile is an adult with a psychosexual disorder where children
stimulate sexual arousal. There is evidence that children who have been sexually victimized are
more likely to be troubled adults. Advocates worry about the safety of the American children and
wish to eliminate this from happening. A recent example is People v. Barrows, 174 Misc. 2d
367, 664 N.Y.S. 2d 410 (1997): an adult, James Barrows, entered an AOL chat room and seduced
what he thought was a thirteen year old girl, who in actuality was an officer of Kings County
District Attorney. Barrows had transmitted pictures of under aged children having sex, engaged in
sexually explicit conversations and attempted to lure the child to engage in sexual acts. Barrows
was one of the few pedophiles to be caught and brought to justice.
One proposal that was struck down from protecting children is the Communications Decency Act
(CDA). Janet Reno, Attorney General of the United States, argued that the CDA was in violation of
the U.S. Constitution and laws that would be enacted were clear and undefined. If made into law,
the CDA could severely censor the Internet in ways that were never attempted before. It would filter

moral; unlike what the perception on the outside, neat people do not care enough and, sloppy
people care too much. Britt says, Their sloppiness is merely their unfortunate consequence of their
extreme moral rectitude (Britt 233). Then, she makes a statement that Neat people are bums and
clods at heart and they have cavalier attitudes towards possession (Britt 234). Britt is conveying the
idea that sloppy people have a stronger moral value than neat people because they set goals that are

Sloppy people like to live a relaxed, calm lifestyle and accept things the way they are. In contrast,
when neat people look for solution to problems and try to fix things that are not right to them.
They also feel that they have to be control of situations and are sometimes afraid to show the fun
personality to others. That s why neat people typically lack creativity because they have a narrow
viewpoint on things and can t think outside the box. On the hand, sloppy individuals are
considered very creative because they take the time to explore new ideas and try new things.
Being messy means being more productivity; for example sloppy have an organized chaos lifestyle
that allows them to be more efficient and productive. Although, on the surface things look messy,
but really a sloppy person knows exactly where everything is

Color Run Psychology
Towards the beginning of the project, I was researching the psychology behind advertising.
Then, slowly my focus turned to different types of advertising, and then on to children s
advertising. But after the research phase of the project was complete, I began becoming slightly
bored with the topic I chose, and I wasn t really sure what to produce from it. During a
conversation with Mr. Moravek, he mentioned to me that he wanted to plan more charity events
for next year, and I had an idea for one. I changed my gifted project into planning a Color Run.
Next year, through Student Council, Conant will host a Color Run/walk in order to raise money
for a charity or cause. I figured that having a run/walk would be a good way to raise money at our...

It was the second color run they had hosted, and it was very successful. Mr. Moravek
recommended that I reach out to the people who ran the event and ask questions about it. I
emailed the teachers who ran student council at Libertyville and she got me in touch with the
students who have been in charge of the event for the last few years. I had a list of questions
prepared, and I set up a time where we could talk on the phone. When on the phone, I learned that
their run had around 250 participants, and they raised about $7,000 for a local foundation. They
set up their event so each runner had a wristband, and they sent the runners in different waves
organized by the color of their wristband. When i had asked about the color powder they had
used, they said that they have used many different powder companies and have found that it is all
the same, so it doesn t really matter where you get the powder from. For the volunteers, that throw
the color on the runners, they had asked their boys and girls track team to help out, since IHSA
rules prohibit them to participate in races during their season. They recommended that we use
condiment squeeze bottles to throw powder on the runners. With the bottles it is a much more
accurate throw, and is much easier to get the runners covered in powder. I figured that we can get

Nacogdoches Case Study
The city of Nacogdoches is currently covered with _% (planning to meet with Dr. Unger) paving

effect, physical stress of residents, and storm water runoff into roads. Currently, there are no
requirements for the commercial districts to uphold the Nacogdoches garden capital of Texas

as described in, Article VI, Section 118 430 of the Nacogdoches Code of Ordinances. Through
utilization of the recently drafted Development Standards Section Ordinance, effects of open
parking lots can begin to be mitigated. The draft DSS Ordinance requires emerging businesses

The Theory Of An Organization
Organizations are groups of people working together to achieve a common goal. The organizations
theories correlate together in order for organizations to sustain functionality. In all organizations
there is a common unit of power that directs the organization toward a common goal. Within the
Department of Health and Human Resources, the source of power is the commissioner, and the
direction of the department is to have zero child fatalities and maintain safety of children.
The classical model focuses on the structure of the organization. The decision making starts at the
top, with the person in power and trickles down to the employees in the organizations. Hence, the
person in power has the authority and decision making capability. This is also known as
bureaucracy, which occurs within a government institution such as; when meetings occur, the
commissioner will make the final decisions about goals and how to implement those goals. All
organizations recognize that decisions have to be made. The decision theory is similar to the
classical model in how decisions are made and who makes the decisions. The person in power
makes the decision, and the ultimate outcome is to achieve a common goal. Decisions are made on
rationale when possible, but achieving a perfect goal is not the ultimate goal. When conflict occurs
it is embraced, and organization work to accommodate or even coerce members to achieve common
goals. Human relations theory is derived from the machine

Holiday by Margaret Atwood Essay examples
Holiday by Margaret Atwood Holiday by Margaret Atwood has a simple and familiar subject but
the real meaning behind the simple story is hard hitting and in many ways it is a warning. She
talks of a holiday and story shows how she is at a barbeque with her family in the countryside.
However she interweaves a bleak image of our future within this straightforward story. It starts of
with Atwood describing her daughter eating sausages. She uses the words barbarism and creates an
image of burst meat dripping down her chin these words create a very primitive and uncivilized
image. She describes them standing beneath a large leafed tree with nature as their only protection.

We humans are too placid. like a breath, a footstep shows that the danger is creeping up slowly
and softly but is without doubt there. She uses a juxtaposition in the next line saying, with its
calm eye of fire calm and fire are 2 opposites as fire is never meant to be calm. She says that fire
or danger is coming but very peacefully. The calm nothing carries with it an explosive danger,
which we are ignorant to. She then comes back to present and describes the scene around her.
She continues to depict her daughter eating and looking for berries. However the line grace
plumps the berries, two or three hot and squashed in her fist seems to be a metaphor. I think that
Atwood is saying simply that her daughter finds a Few dusty berries and then squashes them in
her hand. However its profound meaning seems to be that grace or blessing from god has made
the berries round and juicy, they slowly became dusty and now man destroys it so frivolously. It
is a metaphor showing nature and how man treats it presently, without much care. She also says
the blades of grass are still with us , as she remembers that we still have grass and expresses
gratitude. The last stanza is clearly a warning where she says that so far we have destroyed nature
carelessly and for fun, but we have already

Infective Endocarditis Research
Infective endocarditis has been around for many centuries. A man named Lazaire Riviere, while
performing an autopsy, first discovered infective endocarditis in 1674 (Brusch, 2015). Since the
first findings documented were after death, there was still much research to do in this area of
cardiovascular science. William Olser was the first person to compile an in depth explanation of
infective endocarditisin English in the year of 1885. Furthermore, in 1966, the first modern times
symposium of infective endocarditis was developed as a series of journal articles by authors Lerner
and Weinstein, which was published in the New England Journal of Medicine (Brusch, 2015).

In other words, would it be useful to diagnose infective endocarditis with the help of advanced
imaging tools to closely examine how the tissues and organs appear? Patients that were gram
positive for certain bacteria were included in the study, and there were 72 people that underwent
the F FDG PET/CT. Results were evaluated and determined by nuclear medicine physicians.
Overall, the study yielded that the sensitivity for diagnosing those with infective endocarditis
using F FDG PET/CT was low; it was only 39%. Due to the low sensitivity, the value of using F
FDG PET/CT as diagnostic criteria for those with infective endocarditis was deemed not
satisfactory (Kouijzer et al., 2013). Still, another study took a deeper look into ways of diagnosing
infective endocarditis.
An additional study investigated the usefulness of histopathological findings in the diagnosis of
infective endocarditis. Histopathology is the study of tissues viewed under a microscope to
determine manifestations of disease. In countries outside of the United States, histopathological
findings are the gold standard in confirming infective endocarditis in humans. Researchers intended
to challenge this idea and see if histopathological findings really are the best form of diagnosing
infective endocarditis, and if those findings can stand by

Wormy Vs Wormy
Before starting the observations, the planarians had to be cut into sections using a scalpel, in
this case, they were cut into three. To make them easier to cut, the were chilled on ice to slow
them down. The flatworms were then put into separate labelled petri dishes, where they were
then placed in a cool and dark area. After a few days, the worms grew and were easier to observe.
From this lab, it can be concluded that planarians will regenerate no matter how they were cut.
Wormy and Wormy 2.0, were both trisected transversely and were thought to grow into six new
planarians, three coming from each worm, and one of them possessing two heads. The results
observed for Wormy fully supported the hypothesis, and the three new planarians had a head,...

These flatworms are bi directionally regenerating creatures which means a cut body can form a
brand new tail from the posterior cut and a new head from the anterior cut. Using this skill, they
are able to clone themselves, and reproduce asexually. While taking down observations, there were
tail droppings. Tail droppings occur when a planaria attaches itself to a surface and pulls away,
separating into two pieces. This is one form of reproduction, the other form is called fragmentation.
Fragmentation is just like tail droppings, but instead of separating into two pieces, the tail dropping
divides up into more pieces. Furthermore, planarians have an abundant amount of stem cell like
cells that are capable of converting into the cell needed for regenerating tissue, and are available
when it is required. When they lose a portion of itself, pale white coloured cells filled with stem
cell like cells starts to form, this is blastema. Those cells will transform into the desired cell and
will begin to divide, which will result in a new body part to replace the missing part. This could
be seen during the lab, the worms were distinctly transparent, or a pale colour, in the areas where
they were dissected. These flatworms are organisms, and organisms need to eat, or get nutrients.
Once their head is cut off and they are just a tail, it is really easy for them to obtain food. The cells
in the tail will self destruct to provide energy for the growing planarian until the head and tail are
proportionate to each other, where it will then continue feeding and growing like before it got
transected. Humans too, are capable of regeneration, but just to a certain extent. Everyday the
human body creates more blood, new skin, and much more, which is regeneration. Unfortunately,
limbs regenerating is unthinkable. That is why studying animals like the planarians and

Early American Transportation
Transportation, a system for moving people or goods from one place to another. Throughout the
history there are many ways of transportation, such as road, boat, airplane that only appeared around
last century, etc. People use these tools to transport goods or themselves from one destination to
another. Even though different vehicles provide different speed and volume for transportation, the
most common and beneficial route is the land route. The dominant way of transportation on land is
always the train. The train not only can travel at a high speed it can also carry many things. The
railroad played a huge role in the human history making it one of human s best invention.

Under the influences from the Europeans, American began developing its own railroad system.
With the vast amount of land available, the Americans were able to build railroads with far
larger scale than those built in Europe. The earliest railways in the United States were just like
those earlier railroads in Europe. They were short, wooden railways built by quarries and mines
along which horses pulled loads to nearby water ways. In the 1827, the mine and quarry
operators built the first full size railways. In 18329, the first locomotive for the railroads was
imported from Europe. Although some Americans such as Horatio Allen had been experiencing
with locomotives, their locomotives were proved to be too heavy for the tracks that had been
constructed and was subsequently abolished. ( Railroads. Dictionary of American History) The
railroad era in America truly began in the 1830s when Peter Cooper s locomotive, Tom Thumb,
first steamed along 13 miles (21 km) of Baltimore and Ohio railroad track. (Rail transport, Early
railroads in the US, Wikipedia) Tom Thumb traveled at speeds approaching fifteen miles per
hour while pulling a car filled with thirty people. This led the beginning of train transportation of
human not minerals or ore. However, not until the 1850s, though, did railroads offer long
distance service at reasonable rates. Not only the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad was the first carry
passengers but also the first to evolve from a single line to a network in the United States.
Railroads were connected to each other between some cities. However, in order to get from one city
to another, the passengers had to transfer train multiple times. In addition, only at places like
Bowling Green, Kentucky, were the railroads connected to one another. Soon following the

This was by far the most challenging course that I have encountered while obtaining my Master

course has taken more time to complete the assignments, more of my attention to detail, and
more of my creativity. The last point was the best part about this course. I consider myself to be
fairly creative and this course definitely allowed me to do that while bringing my somewhat odd

As a child, Helen was often became frustrated that no one understood what she wanted. As a result,
she would become extremely violent. Her parents did not know how to control her and they let her
get away with anything.
Fortunately, they learned about Annie Sullivan, a teacher of the blind, who came to teach and live
with seven year old Helen.
Learning to Communicate
Anne Sullivan began by teaching Helen finger spelling, starting with the word doll, to help Keller
understand the gift of a doll she had brought along. Other words would follow. At first, Keller was
curious, then defiant, refusing to cooperate with Sullivan s instruction. When Keller did cooperate,
Sullivan could tell that she wasn t making the connection between the objects and the letters spelled
out in her hand. Sullivan kept working at it, forcing Helen to go through the regimen. As Keller s
frustration grew, the tantrums increased. Finally, Sullivan demanded that she and Keller be isolated
from the rest of the family for a time, so that Keller could concentrate only on Sullivan s instruction.
They moved to a cottage on the plantation.
In a dramatic struggle, Sullivan taught Keller the word water ; she helped her make the
connection between the object and the letters by taking Keller out to the water pump, and placing
Keller s hand under the spout. While Sullivan moved the lever to flush cool water over Keller s
hand, she spelled out the word w a t e r on

Essay A Historical Biography of Alexander the Great
A Historical Biography of Alexander the Great
Alexander the Great lived before Christ, but he was driven by a vision of global unity as modern
as today. Alexander is seen in many roles in our culture. The most famous of these is being a great
general and conqueror of the world. During his short life, Alexander conquered the known world
and helped spread the culture of the Greeks. Much of what he accomplished must be viewed in the
circumstances of his time and his upbringing. Without these we may not have had the spread of
Greek culture or even heard of the man called Alexander. I will discuss how Alexander was able to
accomplish all of this in such a short time and the events and strategies that helped him along the
way. To... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was making of one of the finest military machines ever seen to that day and even later. The
system that Philip used in ruling the Greek states helped unify them, and eliminate the notion of
being a conquered people. He granted freedom and autonomy to all parties in each state; but, at
the same time, established bureaucracies that were stable and loyal to him. This idea of not
destroying the conquered people but placing them in charge, is seen consistently later on in
Alexander s Empire. After this was done, he declared war on Persia with the support of a unified
Greece. After all this, before he could start his march on Persia, he was assassinated. Philip by
conquest and the organization of rule, helped Alexander inherit a united Greece and Macedonia.
This enabled him to be able to conquer other lands and not waste time and effort fighting Greek
states. His father, through reform, also developed the finest army of the age. These inheritances
paved the way for Alexander s success. Alexander s family life was, at the least, dysfunctional.
His father, Philip and his mother, Olympias were not a happy couple. When Philip left Olympias
to marry Cleopatra, the family was split and embittered. Some think that Olympia even had a role
in Philip s murder. Alexander clearly owed some of his characteristics to both his parents. Like his
father, he was a shrewd and practical politician. But, he also was attached to believing in oracles,
cults, and omens, which

Many of these authoritative individuals thoughts still influence us even today. Many of their ideas

their laws influenced many countries. He also pointed out what laws worked and the laws that

his ideas and thoughts. The views of these two influential thinkers were considered very radical
in their time because their views were radical and very different from any form of government
that anyone back then had ever heard of or dreamed possible. They thoughts that a government
run by the people would be chaotic. They had never heard of any more separation of power than
in England, where it was a limited monarchy. Their views on people were also influential
especially Locke s views. He gave people the idea that they are more than just slaves for the
government and that they should have some say in how their government is run. These ideas and
many more inspired revolutions that were sparked by these two eccentric individuals. Locke and

  • 2. Isabella Vigil . Mr.Short . College Composition . 19 March Isabella Vigil Mr.Short College Composition 19 March 2017 A Spiritual Gain but a Financial Lose Meditation has always been seen as a way to keep the mind and soul healthy. Mediation dates back to 1500 BCE originating in Ancient India. The practice soon started to expand and adapt to other cultures around the world. Some of the earliest references to meditation are found in the Hindu scriptures and it was around the 6th to 5th centuries that other forms of meditation developed into Confucian, Taoist China, and Buddhist India (Taham). This spiritual and religious practice has been around for thousands of years, benefiting many people. However, in the year 2017 mediation no longer feels like a spiritual practice but rather like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Research suggests that meditation may physically change the brain and body and could potentially help to improve many health problems and promote healthy behaviors. In a 2012 study, researchers compared brain images from 50 adults who meditate and 50 adults who don t meditate. Results suggested that people who practiced meditation for many years have more folds in the outer layer of the brain. This process (called gyrification) may increase the brain s ability to process information (Meditation: In Depth). In many ways, the scientific studies showing how positive mediation has created this craze of mediation. Mediation can be linked to many exercise practices such as yoga. Meditation and yoga go hand in hand. Spending a few minutes of meditating then go into a hard body workout of yoga than ending the class with meditation. Many private yoga studies promote the practice of meditation and yoga increasing prices of their facility. Famous instructor Holly Rilinger is a perfect example. Rilinger has created this workout called Calm and Cardio starting with a five minute guided meditation and then launches into cardio and strength training intervals using bodyweight and dumbbells. During each song, you alternate between two exercises while moving to the beat of the booming music (Held). She has combined meditation with exercises and is now using this technique of meditation to create an empire. Exercise meditation is not the only thing that is expanding. There are ... • 4. But Im A Cheerleader Movie Analysis The satirical movie But I m a Cheerleader was directed by Jamie Babbit and based on 1999 writings of Brian Wayne Peterson. The movie covers exciting representations of queer characters and is centered on conversion therapy which seems an outdated practice in modern films. Conversion therapy is rehabilitation that converts an individual s homosexual desires to regain heterosexual desires. Megan is the main character in the movie with many friends and a dreamy boyfriend who acts like a typical preppy cheerleader. As per the movie, Megan hardly kisses her boyfriend, and her parents thought of her to be a lesbian (Talburt 17 39). The parents later sent Megan to a youth camp that goes by the name True Directions which was for an ex gay run by Mike and Mary Brown. In that camp, Megan came across Cathy who was facing threats from her own father of being cut off completely. She never took these threats lightly even though she refuses to contain her attraction to sex. When Mary Brown the owner of the camp, tries to make Graham and Megan heterosexual they end up being romantic and this makes Megan discover her earlier inhibited sexuality. Therefore, the paper will argue on queer representation as evident in But I m a Cheerleader movie. The argument about Queer Representation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Essay On What Led Up To The Civil War Dbq During the period of 1820 1840, the Industrial Revolution created a transparent divide between the Northern and Southern regions. Evidently, the Industrial Revolution proposed change in the Northern way of life to a more opportunistic environment, but the Southern regions remained the same encompassed by the use of slaveryfor their own benefit. Moral tensions arose from the complications between the two regions, creating abolitionist groups and extremists to dictate an impending battle between the North and South. The Civil War was an inevitable feat due to northern extremism and the differing perspectives of proper leadership of both sides. Extremism became a significant issue during the time leading up to the Civil War. Northerners established ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both regions believed their ideals were proper therefore causing this type of leadership as inconceivable at the time. Northern candidate, Abraham Lincoln was a strong proponent towards the unification of America whether it appeased the northern abolitionists or the southern plantation owner (Doc 4). Similarly Stephen Douglas proposed the idea of popular sovereignty as a means to unify the nation (Doc 5) . His ideals were more similar to the great compromisers Clay, Webster, and Calhoun who were deceased. All five of these men had one goal, to unify America, but the conflicting perspectives between Lincoln and Douglas lead to a stalemate, in which no decision was made to save the country. Thus the American Civil Warbecame not an if but when? In a time of crisis, Congress did not prove to be a beneficiary towards the rehabilitation of the American Union. Indicated by the census of the two houses between 1849 1861, many decisions would become biased towards the Democratic Party due to their representation in government (Doc 3). Rather than coming to a consensus about the issue at hand, congress establishes an invisible line that indicates the divided North and South as free or slave states, fixating the battle between the North and ... There are a couple of functions that the heart does that makes it so important. It is responsible for circulating blood in the body, as well as ensuring that the blood pressure is kept at a constant rate. Your heartcan be found in the center of your chest. The human heart is divided into four quarters by a strong muscle. The upper portion of the heart is known as the atria, and the lower portion is known as the ventricle. The human heart is kept well protected by a sac and fluid that cushions it. The sac that the heart is housed in is called the pericardium. Inside the walls of this sac is pericardial fluid, and this fluid is responsible for cushioning the heart. There are three layers that the walls of the human heart are made up of. When shown the second set of information, some participants unconsciously came to the belief that the particular information shown was the correct information, an example of memory distortion. • 9. Ofdm Transmission By Stephen Kiambi OFDM transmission Author: Stephen Kiambi Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, University of Nairobi OFDM or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing is a transmission scheme that is widely used in broadcast and wireless communication technologies. Some of the applications employing OFDM include Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB), Digital Video Broadcasting Terrestrial (DVB T2), Wireless LAN, Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) and 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio technologies [1, 2]. Two of the main reasons to use OFDM are to increase date rates and robustness against frequency selective fading. In the rest of this document an overview of OFDM transmission theory is given. 1 Basic principles of OFDM OFDM is a multicarrier transmission technique that splits the total available bandwidth into many narrowband sub channels at equidistant frequencies. The sub channel spectra overlap each other but the subcarrier signals are still orthogonal. The single high rate data stream is subdivided into many low rate data streams for the sub channels. Each sub channel is modulated individually and all the sub channels are transmitted simultaneously in a superimposed and parallel form. An OFDM transmit signal therefore consists of adjacent orthogonal subcarriers spaced by the frequency distance on the frequency axis. All subcarrier signals are mutually orthogonal within the symbol duration, , if the th unmodulated subcarrier signal is described ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. All The Pretty Horses Death. If one thing is inevitable in life, it is death. Whether figuratively or literally, the conclusion to anything always comes, and whether for the better or the worse, something new always emerges. Cormac McCarthy s All The Pretty Horses starts at that conclusion. The death of protagonist John Grady Cole s grandfather closes one period of his life and as a result a new whole period begins. It explores the new period in his journey throughout Mexico, and it is the one thing that always follows. In his novel, McCarthy uses death as a moving action for the main protagonist, John Grady Cole. A person whose beliefs and dreams lie in the past generation and not in the his time of 1950 s Texas/ Mexico, he encounters death frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are no longer in the peaceful hacienda setting anymore and are instead in a deep hole which they themselves have to dig out of. Following the murder of Blevins is the scene in the prison where John Grady Cole kills an attacker. That initiates the reveal of John Grady Cole s violent and wild side. Only when he is on his own near the conclusion of the novel and he suddenly knows that his father has died, is it that he is finally free of all ties to the modern world. Therefore it is clear to see the significance that death has in the major plot points of John Grady Cole s journey throughout All The Pretty Horses. It affects every single thing that he goes through whether he likes it or not. It is the moving action within his journey. It is what sets him off. If it was not for death, he would still be in San Angelo, Texas he would have never done numerous things such as meeting Alejandra and Blevins or being in charge of dozens of horses at a time. In fact, it can be argued that death is not only the moving action within All The Pretty Horses, but also the main antagonist. John Grady Cole begins the novel wanting to stay wherever he is but it always has other plans for him. When talking to Rawlins after the two of them arrive at the hacienda, he even explicitly states that he would like to stay there about a hundred years (McCarthy 96). Some pot dealers in Northern California are realizing that they have to change their way of living so that they won t be discovered by the law. So what do they do? These species are part of the normal flora of human skin and mucosal surfaces such as oral cavity, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts and they usually not pathogenic (1) (2) (3). However, Propionibacterium acnes plays a major role in the development of acne. It could be the most common cause of inflammatory skin conditions acne vulgaris which is most common dermatological disorders seen by dermatologists (4) (5). Other treatment options include the use of natural drugs (6). Antibiotics are frequently used to treat acne patients. Long course regimens of antibiotics can be prescribed to treat acne, which can reach 6 9 months. Most antibiotics prescribed for acne treatment are: clindamycin, macrolides (e.g. erythromycin) and tetracyclines (5). However, increasing resistance have made acne treatment challenging. The incidence of P. acnes antibiotic resistance increased from 20% in 1978 to 72.5% in 1995 (8). Widespread resistance has become a major dermatological issue (9) common prescribing antibiotics in dermatology clinics can be the major cause of the antibiotic resistance due to significant selection pressure on bacteria (10). Some studies has showed a relationship between antibiotic use and the development of resistance to P. acnes in patients treated in general practice. In addition to that , it has showed cross resistance between macrolides/lincosamides and tetracyclines. Other study has suggested that the rate of resistance increases as the duration of antibiotic consumption increases (12). The authors effectively establish baseline hormone levels by ensuring the stress hormones measured during experiments are not solely due to the procedural stress of acupuncture needles. Acclamation ensures that the needles and procedure are no longer novel to the rats and the stress related hormones primarily reflect exposure to the ice/water treatment. Although Eshkevari et al. engage in clinically worthy research aided by a beneficial acclamation protocol, major concerns arise regarding the generalizability of the results due to the utilization of only male rats. The work of Vieira et al. (1) suggests that sexual dimorphism impacts the stress response and demonstrates that female rats experience enhanced vulnerability to stress evoked HPA axis changes. Even if the results of the Eshkevari et al. study propose EA at St36 as a therapeutic option in male rats, sexual dimorphism may negate any therapeutic effects in female rats and necessitates future research to determine if EA presents therapeutic benefits in both sexes. Further concerns arise from the authors conclusion that EA benefits are specific to St36 stimulation. Eshkevari et al. cite elevated ACTH and CORT levels in sham EA rats as evidence that the suppression of the stress hormones is specific to EA at St36. The results section, however, reveals ... • 14. Critical Appreciation Of Poetry Poetry comes up very often in our lives whether we realize it or not. Poetry has managed to leave a significant impact on my life. Since I ve been a kid, I ve always defined poetry as a bunch of words on a page. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now, and the two poems, How To Eat a Poem by Eve Merriam and, A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert combined to expand my understanding of the analysis of poetry; my ability to judge poetry s meaning; and poetry s actual definition. The essay, Tide of Voices: Why Poetry Matters Now helped to expand my understanding of the poem: A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert. It also reinforced my belief that analysis is needed to gain full enjoyment of poetry. The first time around, it may be hazy, but, the second time around, the clouds will part and the sun will shine through. Similarly, the first time you read something and you don t understand it, you go back and reread it. The poem, A Brief For The Defense by Jack Gilbert made no sense whatsoever when I read it the first time. I thought it was supposed to help ameliorate my definition of poetry but it did no such thing. Sorrow everywhere. Slaughter everywhere... praise the Devil... Employment within the sector, the second largest single employer within Australia , also fell by 6% in 2009. Fashion retailers are continually at the mercy of consumer spending especially during economic downturns. In fact, the fashion industry in 2009 delivered a negative sales turnover of 1.9%. Not surprisingly, department store sales also plummeted to 3.5%. Generally speaking, with the current climate lacking economic stimulus coupled with higher interest rates and media reports generating signs of an economic recovery, analysts are predicting that eventually the retail trade sector will gradually resurface into positive territory. The Evolution Of Poverty During The Civil War THE EVOLUTION OF POVERTY IN AMERICA Missy Worrells Modern History 1073 November 19, 2014 The Evolution of Poverty in America Poverty is a hardship that has existed in every milestone of American history. War impacted the economy of the country after the Civil War. The twentieth century would see wars, natural disasters, and economical depressions that contributed to the developing culture of poverty. Poverty in any time period is a shattering experience. While being poor during the Reconstruction, the Great Depression, and the Civil Rights movement were each devastating, the nature of poverty would evolve as the culture of each decade evolved. The character of poverty changed most dramatically over the years through Americans perception of standards of living and the government s response to poverty. War always has a major impact on the economy of a country. The Civil War threw the South into poverty. America had been divided by the Civil War and needed to find a way to heal the rift. The way to do this seemed to be for the South to shift to industry, like the North. During the 1880s, Henry W. Grady promoted the concept of the New South that would be modeled on the industry of the North. He and his supporters promoted education and industrialization as the way to rebuild the South. The southern states would grow tobacco and cotton, and expand their textile industry. Yet the South was still was not prospering. Southerners had to adjust to a new ... Each step to achieving a communist establishment has been, continues to be, and will be, in actuality, a step towards the totalitarian societies of past and current so called communist countries. From the very beginning, even prior to the foretold revolution, the ideal is fitted to the leaders viewpoints, which is completely opposite to what Marx had envisioned. The problem with capitalism, as Marx saw it, was that leaders were taking the lives and futures of others in their hands and using them to their advantage and this was forever escalating. As Leninist Russia progressed, Lenin guaranteed that people did not gain too much freedom and implemented such forces as the secret police and one party rule. Thus, through initial adaptations of the system as envisioned by its creator, the distortion of the ideal is present even in its beginnings. Following the first step towards communism is the revolution that Marx predicted would ultimately occur. However, through a revolution, especially a violent one that Marx deemed would ... American Dream: Every women and men should have the opportunity to achieve their goals and their dreams, no matter of their social class or their ability. Hopelessness: Having dreams/goals but knowing there s a small chance of them being accomplished in future. The writers of the books Of Mice And Men and Death Of A Salesmanhave a certain use of words /phrases that demonstrate a clear use of the themes hopelessness and failure of the American Dream . To begin with, John Steinbeck has used the following quote: I could live so easy have a girl maybe . Furthermore, the writer has used the phrase: I could live so easy if I didn t have you on my tail gives us a clear suggestion that George is directly telling Lennie how easy his life would be without him. If you discount the time needed for this, you can go from loading to drawing in less than a minute. All you have to do is open the magnetic lid and put the herbs in the chamber. You will see groves at the side of the unit; lift the lid up and you will find the botanical chamber inside. Do not pack in too tightly because you are dealing with a convection oven here. Japan had a history of executing surprise attacks before declaring war; one main example is when japan invaded Port Arthur in the Russo Japanese war which would prove to be very successful . The United States saw the military base on Hawaiias a point of power in the pacific and a last defense of their home land. Japan saw Hawaii as at point of expansion and an easy way for the United States to launch an attack on them. Attacking Pearl Harbor was not the original plan for japan. Japan wanted to bring the United States to them, but Japanese commander in Chief Isoroku Yamomoto pushed for an attack on the United States .pearl harbor was the home to the United States naval fleet and many fuel reserves. One of the main objects of japan was to destroy aircraft carriers and sink battle ships to put the United States fleet out of action and to discourage the people of the United States to not join the World War. One of the easiest and most popular ways of obtaining pornographic material is over the Internet. The only downside is that the Internetis accessible to children; therefore, pornographyis accessible to children. Children can be endangered in many ways, one of which is being lured by a pedophile and possibly sexually assaulted. A pedophile is an adult with a psychosexual disorder where children stimulate sexual arousal. There is evidence that children who have been sexually victimized are more likely to be troubled adults. Advocates worry about the safety of the American children and wish to eliminate this from happening. A recent example is People v. Barrows, 174 Misc. 2d 367, 664 N.Y.S. 2d 410 (1997): an adult, James Barrows, entered an AOL chat room and seduced what he thought was a thirteen year old girl, who in actuality was an officer of Kings County District Attorney. Barrows had transmitted pictures of under aged children having sex, engaged in sexually explicit conversations and attempted to lure the child to engage in sexual acts. Barrows was one of the few pedophiles to be caught and brought to justice. One proposal that was struck down from protecting children is the Communications Decency Act (CDA). Janet Reno, Attorney General of the United States, argued that the CDA was in violation of the U.S. Constitution and laws that would be enacted were clear and undefined. If made into law, the CDA could severely censor the Internet in ways that were never attempted before. It would filter out anything that is deemed obscene and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The organizations theories correlate together in order for organizations to sustain functionality. In all organizations there is a common unit of power that directs the organization toward a common goal. Within the Department of Health and Human Resources, the source of power is the commissioner, and the direction of the department is to have zero child fatalities and maintain safety of children. The classical model focuses on the structure of the organization. The decision making starts at the top, with the person in power and trickles down to the employees in the organizations. Hence, the person in power has the authority and decision making capability. This is also known as bureaucracy, which occurs within a government institution such as; when meetings occur, the commissioner will make the final decisions about goals and how to implement those goals. All organizations recognize that decisions have to be made. The decision theory is similar to the classical model in how decisions are made and who makes the decisions. The person in power makes the decision, and the ultimate outcome is to achieve a common goal. Decisions are made on rationale when possible, but achieving a perfect goal is not the ultimate goal. She talks of a holiday and story shows how she is at a barbeque with her family in the countryside. However she interweaves a bleak image of our future within this straightforward story. It starts of with Atwood describing her daughter eating sausages. She uses the words barbarism and creates an image of burst meat dripping down her chin these words create a very primitive and uncivilized image. She says that fire or danger is coming but very peacefully. The calm nothing carries with it an explosive danger, which we are ignorant to. She then comes back to present and describes the scene around her. She continues to depict her daughter eating and looking for berries. However the line grace plumps the berries, two or three hot and squashed in her fist seems to be a metaphor. I think that Atwood is saying simply that her daughter finds a Few dusty berries and then squashes them in her hand. However its profound meaning seems to be that grace or blessing from god has made the berries round and juicy, they slowly became dusty and now man destroys it so frivolously. It is a metaphor showing nature and how man treats it presently, without much care. She also says the blades of grass are still with us , as she remembers that we still have grass and expresses gratitude. The last stanza is clearly a warning where she says that so far we have destroyed nature carelessly and for fun, but we have already ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Overall, the study yielded that the sensitivity for diagnosing those with infective endocarditis using F FDG PET/CT was low; it was only 39%. After a few days, the worms grew and were easier to observe. From this lab, it can be concluded that planarians will regenerate no matter how they were cut. Wormy and Wormy 2.0, were both trisected transversely and were thought to grow into six new planarians, three coming from each worm, and one of them possessing two heads. These flatworms are bi directionally regenerating creatures which means a cut body can form a brand new tail from the posterior cut and a new head from the anterior cut. Using this skill, they are able to clone themselves, and reproduce asexually. While taking down observations, there were tail droppings. Tail droppings occur when a planaria attaches itself to a surface and pulls away, separating into two pieces. This is one form of reproduction, the other form is called fragmentation. Fragmentation is just like tail droppings, but instead of separating into two pieces, the tail dropping divides up into more pieces. Furthermore, planarians have an abundant amount of stem cell like cells that are capable of converting into the cell needed for regenerating tissue, and are available when it is required. When they lose a portion of itself, pale white coloured cells filled with stem cell like cells starts to form, this is blastema. Those cells will transform into the desired cell and will begin to divide, which will result in a new body part to replace the missing part. This could be seen during the lab, the worms were distinctly transparent, or a pale colour, in the areas where they were dissected. These flatworms are organisms, and organisms need to eat, or get nutrients. Once their head is cut off and they are just a tail, it is really easy for them to obtain food. The cells in the tail will self destruct to provide energy for the growing planarian until the head and tail are proportionate to each other, where it will then continue feeding and growing like before it got transected. Humans too, are capable of regeneration, but just to a certain extent. Everyday the human body creates more blood, new skin, and much more, which is regeneration. Unfortunately, limbs regenerating is unthinkable. That is why studying animals like the planarians and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was making of one of the finest military machines ever seen to that day and even later. The system that Philip used in ruling the Greek states helped unify them, and eliminate the notion of being a conquered people. He granted freedom and autonomy to all parties in each state; but, at the same time, established bureaucracies that were stable and loyal to him. This idea of not destroying the conquered people but placing them in charge, is seen consistently later on in Alexander s Empire. After this was done, he declared war on Persia with the support of a unified Greece. After all this, before he could start his march on Persia, he was assassinated. Philip by conquest and the organization of rule, helped Alexander inherit a united Greece and Macedonia. This enabled him to be able to conquer other lands and not waste time and effort fighting Greek states. His father, through reform, also developed the finest army of the age.
