Synthesis of the Research
A solid school vision statement and its accompanying goals should reflect the culture of a school
and provide for improvement in the school s instructional program, and professional development
to improve student learning (ELCC 2). The meta analysis work of Marzano, Waters and McNulty
(2005) discovered the importance of each of these dimensions in relationship to school principals
and the successful school environment. Furthermore, principals skill in each of these dimensions
has demonstrated a positive correlation to student achievement (Marzano et al.).
With regard to culture, the role of the principal has been found to have a direct impact on the
culture of the school (Marzano et al., 2005). The principal is ... Show more content on

Symptoms And Treatment Of Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever
Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever is caused by a virus found in the family of filoviridae, in genus known as
ebolavirus. There are currently four known Ebola virus strands that are deadly to humans. The virus
is transmitted through bodily fluids so it can be transferred via mucosal surfaces or abrasions on the
skin when being in direct contact to an infected person. It is highly pathogenic and causes death in
approx. 50 90% of all known cases. This laboratory and numerous experiments has shown that
antigen X1 should be used with adjuvant x2 as together they stimulate the appropriate immune
response against Ebola and could be a viable cure for the company. Introduction: When a viral
infection happens within an organism, there are two main types of immune responses. The first, is
the innate immune response which involves different resistance mechanisms to determine and
respond to an unspecified pathogen. Innate immunity in relation to viruses requires cytokines and
NK cells to destroy the pathogen. Viral infection in cells promote the production of a specific type
of cytokines known as interferon and they interfere with viral replication in the host cells. Interferon
can be split down into three main molecules: interferon пЃЎ, interferon пЃў and interferon пЃ§.
Interferon пЃЎ пЃў are the main molecules in viral infection. Interferon also activate natural killer
cells in order for them to destroy virus infected cells and allow the release of cytokines. The
adaptive immune response also

O meally suggests that Ellison also incorporates the Blues within his character developments for a
very different purpose, other than those of mood and rhythmic sequences. He suggests that
Ellison intentionally focuses on the music of Armstrong so as to introduce a concept of
materialistic fascination within the narrator. Just as the catchy tunes of the Blues, the narrator
too is fascinated by the concepts of equality and justice and is haunted by racial imbalances
however, he is simply intrigued by such ideologies but never really tries to divulge his entire
aspirations into the cause. He waits for a magical idea, which for him will be the ticket to
success and consequently allow him to become visible. He is in many aspects selfish to his own
dilemma of invisibility and strives only to be recognized much as the various artists from the
Blues era. The narrator s obsession with recognition can be recognized early on in the prologue
where he strings 1369 light bulbs in the underground hole just to feel visible. Such a comparable
lunacy can be observed in the Blues where many musicians often transcend into another state of
consciousness where the singular focus of their cognizance is the beat similar to the narrator s
unrealistic obsession with

Does The Otl Mathematics Instruction For Conceptual...
Does the OTL Mathematics Instruction for Conceptual Understanding Matter?
Some studies have shown that preservice teachers and in service elementary teachers have
knowledge gaps in their mathematics content and pedagogical content knowledge (e.g., Ball, 1990;
Ma, 1999). The knowledge that teachers have for teaching influence their instruction and the lack of
such can limit how they teach mathematics for understanding (Borko Putnam, 1996). For this
reason, teacher preparation programs and professional development forums should emphasize and
provide the opportunities for learning to teach mathematics for conceptual understanding. Not only
do such opportunities build on preservice teachers mathematics content knowledge, but they also
introduce them to the new ways of teaching mathematics that they may not have experienced in
their earlier mathematics learning.
The findings from this study suggest that frequent experiences in learning mathematics for
conceptual understanding through particular strategies is related to an increase in PSTs knowledge
about teaching mathematics. In particular, more opportunities that allow PSTs to learn to show
why a procedure works was significantly related to the average PSTs increase in content knowledge
between the teacher preparation programs in the United States. Similarly, within the Polish
generalist, United States specialist, and Russian teacher preparation programs the relationships
between the OTL to show why procedures work and

Friendship In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Friendship
Before we begin we need to understand what friendship is. If you define friendship it says: the
emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends but what really is friendship? It is a bond
between 2 people most of the time who have common interests or who have had something
important happen together but sometimes it s just two people who meet and don t have anything in
common but you still meet and hang out. A true friend puts your happiness and safety in front of
your friendship, doesn t ask you to put him/her before your principals and a true friend is a good
influence. You need to be able to trust a good friend and they need to trust you. How does this
apply to the Chronicles of Narnia though?
When we first begin in the Chronicles of Narnia they are exploring the Professors house when
Lucy steps into a wardrobe which leads to Narnia and she meets someone who she thinks is a new
friend Mr. Tumnus and they talk until she finds out that Mr.Tumnus was planning on betraying her
to the evil white witch. After that Lucy forgives him and they do become good friends! When

are both willing to die to save Narnia and to save their King and queen. Everyone in Narnia went

Hemingway s Love Life Rough Draft Essay
Throughout his years, various women had walked into the famous writer Ernest Hemingway s
life. Yet these same women never remained with Hemingway for long and soon enough walked
out on him, with the exception of his last and final wife. Thus the love life of Ernest Hemingway
proved to be a complex one. However the time each woman had spent with Hemingway did not
simply end with their break ups; instead the women s brief relationship with Hemingway served
to be a great source of inspiration for the famous writer. As a result, Hemingway s depiction of
women in his literary works was influenced and inspired by these various women in his life.

The two having met at a party of a mutual friend, Hemingway married the 29 year old only a year
after meeting one another. The new couple moved to different locations such as Paris, France so
Hemingway could continue with this ambitious writing career; afterwards the couple moved
back to the Western hemisphere with the birth of their first son, John Bumby Hadley Nicanor,
in 1923. Hadley had continued to keep up with her husband s strenuous and active lifestyle;
Hadley eventually inspired Hemingway to write The Sun Also Rises. As explained by Miriam
B. Mandel s Journal of Modern Literature, Hemingway recounted such events with Hadley and
their time together in the book: Hadley accompanied Ernest to the bullfights in the summers...
The boy with the wine, the drunk Civil Guards, the lost tickets, and the detail of Hadley and the
bull s ear are all biographically accurate. Unlike Brett Ashley, Hadley kept the bull s ear given to
her. Hemingway soon had an affair with fashion owner Pauline Pfeiffer in 1924, which led to
the divorce with Hadley two years later. However before leaving Hemingway s life forever,
Hadley became an inspiration again for Hemingway for Death in the Afternoon which was written
after the he had married Pfeiffer. His description of Hadley is affectionate and admiring , as noted
again by Mandel. (Journal of Modern Literature, JSTOR) Having divorced

Nat King Cole s Vocal Style
Today, 66 years after the peak of his career, Nat King Cole remains to be a household name. Most
anyone you ask will recognize his iconic baritone vocals. Although he is best known for his
vocal style, Cole was also an extremely talented piano player. Along with his elegant presence,
Cole was able to break the strong barriers of racism in the 1960s, leaving a legacy for artists
behind him. Cole was raised in an extremely religious household outside of Chicago. His mother
was the choir director of the church, and his father a Pastor. Cole began learning pianoaround age
four, which would lead to him dropping out of school at 15 to pursue a career in music. Cole s
first band was called the Royal Dukes. In 1936, he left home at age 17 to perform with the
national tour of Shuffle Along. Cole s piano technique was greatly influenced by Earl Hines. Cole
himself once said that he owed everything to that man ( Nat King ColeJazzPianist ).
Over the years Cole developed his own piano style, he became known for its syncopated left
hand, and his ability to quickly move from octave to octave. Cole also had an ability to play with
a more freedom, as he often played without a drummer. This allowed him to create his own
personal style, known for its modern rhythms ( Nat King Cole: The Pianist ). Cole s stage
presence was said to be extremely strong, facing the audience as he played. In 1937, Cole formed
the King Cole Trio, consisting of himself on the piano, Oscar Moore on the

1920s Car Industry
Contrary to Wilson s decrepit car garage, the auto repair industry changed rapidly in growth as
well as in jobs during the early twentieth century, while further straddling a wedge within the
social hierarchy as automobiles became more widespread in usage. The automobile industry
became an oligopoly with the formation of the Big Three: Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler
(controlling 70% of the industry), as the rest produced luxury vehicles for the upper class
(Batchelor). Companies such as Ford evolved their vehicles, such as introducing interchangeable
parts, enabling the expansion of tools used by mechanics ( The Auto Mechanic s Trade ).

Auto mechanics often had a negative perception of all their customers from different social
classes, believing they were all ignorant due to their lack of technological knowledge, and thus
could be exploited for financial gain (Borg, Auto Mechanics: Technology and Expertise ). On the
contrary side vehicle owners often perceived the mechanics to be of low social class and thus
intelligence. For example, Hudson Motor Company had car manuals telling their wealthy
customers to be patient with car mechanics when they were repairing the car, since many are from
lower socioeconomic backgrounds and thus were not as smart as the wealthy car owner (Borg, The
Chauffeur Problem 824). The car owner s perceptions largely drew from the nature of an auto
mechanics work, as Auto mechanics often used their 5 senses to find visual issues with cars,
making the profession heavily reliant on experience (Borg, Auto Mechanics: Technology and
Expertise ). This aspect of their work made them special from other professions, but also made them
seem naturally unintellectual in their work. In fact, the auto electrical repair mechanics, who relied

The most thorough account of judicial practice would then have to go on to study the education
and training of judges, and their embedding within a particular culture or cultures of legal
behaviour. What are the consequences of this argument? If practices are essentially ways of
acting in given circumstances, any general theory may be too distant from the practice to capture
how judges actually interpret cases. Judicial interpretation is always a matter of a specific case
and a singular set of facts. To understand why a judge in a particular case comes to a particular
conclusion necessitates a study of a precise legal context. In other words, a general account of
precedent perhaps tells us more about the practice of academic writing than it does about the work
of judges. It may be that the best way to understand the practice of judicial interpretation is to
abandon any general account, and to see how it proceeds in different doctrinal areas of law. This
would indicate that the best way to understand the practice of precedent is to study cases within
their specific contexts†.
вЂ
Precedence and judicial creativity
However, given that we need a general account of precedent, we can suggest some overarching
concerns that structure judicial practice. The historical beginnings of the present doctrine of
precedent obscure the extent to which judicial practice is creative. Judges make law, as Lord
Browne Wilkinson said in Kleinwort Benson v Lincoln City

Write An Essay About Dancing En Pointe
The Point Behind the Pointe
Nothing compares to that moment when a dance teacher gives permission for a dancer to
purchase their first pair of pointe shoes. The excitement builds, through the first fitting, up until
the first pointe class. There is an unseen evil lurking behind this happiness. Dancing en pointe is a
dangerous business, at all times there is a risk of injury, even at the professional level, one
misplaced pose, or one careless jump and their career is over.
In regards to the beginner student, should they be placed en pointe too young or before they have
sufficient strength, and technique, their career may be over before it begins. The majority of
dancers are ready to begin dancing en pointe between the ages of ten and twelve, but occasionally,

correct fashion . The dancer must have a good work ethic and attitude towards their dance training,

Mayer s I have the results of your test back the MRT and hearing test. The MRT showed a small
benign tumor in your left ear along your 8th cranial nerve. This nerve is also called your acoustic
nerve this nerve sends signals for hearing. This tumor is what is known as acoustic neuroma. This
tumor is benign or not cancer, so it cannot spread to other parts of your body. It can however get
larger and press on other nerves, and cause you more issues, like facial numbness, changes in taste,
difficulty swallowing and other issues. It is the cause of the hearing loss in your left ear along with
the dizziness and tinnitus or ringing in your ears. Because the tumor is around 2.5 cm you will
need to have the tumor removed. Unfortunately, your hearing loss and tinnitus may be
permanent, but you can get a hearing aid to help amplify sounds, and there are some
medications that can help with the tinnitus. Although, your tinnitus and hearing loss may
improve it could take weeks or even years to see results after the tumor is removed. I have
spoken with the neurosurgeon that can do your surgery, we agreed that the best approach is
stereotactic radiosurgery or gamma knife, it is a non surgical approach. It would use precise,
targeted radiation beams to kill the tumor. This treatment would avoid or minimize the chances
of damaging important nerves that are responsible for balance, hearing, and facial responses.
The other option we spoke about is surgical removal or Retro sigmoid/sub occipital in which a
small part of your back skull is removed near the back of your head, and this procedure also
offers the possibility of preserving your hearing. I know that this is not easy information to hear

The Importance Of Professionalism In Pharmacy, At The...
Having professional etiquette is one of the most important factors that contribute to a successful
healthcare career. Professionalism within health care includes values to promote the good of every
patient in a compassionate, caring and respectful manner. In the article, At the Pharmacy, Chekhov
instructs pharmacists as to what they should not do in regards to lack of empathy, attention, and
interaction towards the patient, which ultimately leads to the deterioration of the patient s health.
In fact, the pharmacist should be concerned about the patient s worries, and create an
environment where care, trust, and effective communication is used to address the patient s
concerns, as well as ensure the efficient delivery of prescriptions. The pharmaceutical practice
has gone beyond the role of medicine dispensary and has acquired a significant role in the field
of healthcare itself. Pharmacists are not only experts in medicine but unique among other
professionals because of their accessibility as healthcare providers. They are more involved in
educating patients on the proper use and consistency of medications, solving different problems
and seeking new challenges day to day. I enjoy helping people and want to become an advocate
for improving the quality of life of my future patients as a whole, which leads me to continue
pursuing a career as a Pharmacist. It is also worthwhile remembering Chekhov s assertion that,

The Influence of Advertising
What is the Influence of Advertising on our children today? The influence of advertising on our
lives, for both our children and us, for many years the influence of advertising has changed. Some
people may remember when the advertisements of toy companies were directed at the adults
instead of the kids, hoping that the adults might buy the products. Today s advertisements have
changed. Advertisements are more pervasive, sophisticated, and are now aimed directly at
getting kids addicted to products at a very young age (Marconi, JM.). This goes to show that
advertisers have realized that it is better to go right for the person who the product is for and not
for the person that will be buying it for someone else. So how has advertising... Show more content

Whether it s the Porsche ad that shows the grade school boy recognizing the car as the King of
cool and success, or the Chevy that wins the NASCAR championship; these brands are sealed
into a child s mind at a young age. The dolls that little girls play with may promote brand name
make up, board games may make use of a specific credit card, and a hot wheels racetrack often
includes a specific brand of car (Hall and Kohrs 2006). All of these promotions are paid for by
manufacturers and serve a very specific purpose. This message often has the effect of making kids
consumers of such products at an increasingly early age and assures that they develop their brand
loyalty earlier.
Is Advertising Really That Influential? There are a number of studies that support the idea that
advertising is particularly effective with children due to the fact they don t have the same critical
thinking/judgment as an adult. The brief from the APA highlights this thought and discusses how
such advertising can lead children to unhealthy food and lifestyle choices (American psychological

sexual development. This young media site covers many of the related issues. Children today often

Advantages Of All Inclusive Resort
What causes this strategy for country s economy?
Cultural economic socД±al environmental problems
For travelers, the easiest and noticeable criticism of all inclusive resorts is that spending almost

However, the all inclusive resorts do no really support the economy of the local suppliers so and if
we consider why we have tourism business, it conflicts with the terms because, tourism is meant to

Grade Inflation And High Grades
It is no question that students in recent years have been receiving higher grades than in previous
years. The most frequently awarded letter grade in the nation is currently an A, given 43% of the
time. However, people are questioning whether today s students have actually gotten smarter. These
higher grades could be due to gradeinflation. Grade inflation is defined as the tendency to award
progressively higher academic grades for work that would have received lower grades in the past.
Although it is known that grades have been rising, it is questionable what the true reason is.
Professors and students around the nation believe that grade inflation is a detrimental problem that
needs to be solved. Angelina Massoia, a student at Wesleyan University, reports that besides the ego
boost that receiving a high grade gives students, it will not have a virtuous outcome in the long run.
Massoia believes that students will not apply themselves nearly as much they know they are
guaranteed a good grade. In her article, The New Normal: The Problem of Grade Inflation in
American Schools , Massoia introduces the dilemma that could come about when future employers
are selecting the most qualified candidates. If everyone in school comes out with straight A s, she
argues that it will put a higher emphasis on standardized tests in the workplace. With the stress that
comes with standardized testing and the hate students have for it, Massoia strongly believes that
grade inflation needs to

How Culture And Perception Are Directly Influenced By...
The idea behind language as culture is explained succinctly by dividing the description into a
framework of separate ideas. By breaking down how perception is developed through environment
and the presence of norms, culture is demonstrated as the provider that perpetuates this social
environment. The cohesion required of large populations begins with cooperation and
communication. From the expression of traditions, the reinforcements of norms through stories and
the passing of knowledge, language is the cohesive glue of people to environment. This can be
exemplified further by a pursuit that transcends individual populations to create a separate culture
and therefore maintains its own environment. In this paper I hope to analyze and illustrate how
culture and perceptionare directly influenced by language.
Beginning with the knowledge that perception drives the creation of anything from human minds
or hands, it can easily be suggested that interactions with the surrounding world are subject to this
same perception. The very experience of living is sensory and and dependant on what is presented
to stimulate those senses. Following this logic what has been created through the influence of
environment is, according to the author and Material Culturalist Richard Grassby, subject to both
etic and emic analysis (592). The reality of social interactions within a given environment, and the
people who inhabit this space, must also be structured to be perceived and understood

Aboriginal Women are Oppressed in Society Essay
Throughout history, women have been the victims of oppression in society. In specific, Aboriginal
women have suffered through racism, sexism, domestic violence, and over representation. Through
the implementation of the Indian Act, Aboriginal women have been forced to abandon their culture
in order to assimilate into Canadian society. The effects of colonization has changed the way
Aboriginal women are treated; emotionally and physically, and therefore are the source of
oppression today.
The Indian Act was created under the provisions section 91 of the Constitution Act of 1867 (Moss,
1990). The act was implemented to define who an Indian is and the rights that come with the title.
These rights pertain to status, bands and reserves for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Treaty benefits, health, rights to living on the reserve and property are forfeited as a result of
losing Indian status. This also happens when an Indian women gets married to another Indian man.
She loses her rights to her own band, and has to become a member of her husband s band.
Ultimately, if the women becomes widowed or abandoned then she loses all status of being an
Indian all together. On the other hand, men can marry a non status woman and all of his rights
would be kept. With strides of equality throughout history, it takes a step back when Aboriginal
women are entirely dependent of their husband. Several cases were took to court in the 1970 s, but
not until 1980 is when there was a connection found between the United Nations Human Rights
Committee and the Canadian Human Rights Act. With this section in direct violation of the
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the removal of a woman s Indian status
while marrying a non Indian man was done and Bill C 31 was passed so victims of the Indian
Act can be reimbursed. However, Bill C 31 is still under scrutiny because those who have their
status reinstated to them can only pass it on for one generation. This is a violation under Section
15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms (Payne, 1992). The Indian Act is a controversial piece of
legislation that was passed in 1876. It has been amended throughout the times, but the core concept
of the Indian Act still

War At The Best, Is Horrible, And This War Of Ours
David Leathers Professor Blanc US History 13 November 2014 Civil Warfare War at the best, is
terrible, and this war of ours, in its magnitude and in its duration, is one of the most terrible
(Lincoln). This war of ours is the American Civil War 1861 1865. It is one of the most
significant wars ever fought in American History. Many Americans lost their lives, some
defending freedom, and others defending the Union. The warfare was a major contributor to the
casualties suffered during this bloodbath. To fully understand this warfare, one must understand
the individual factors involved and how they affected the warfare. The five factors are: military
strategy, worldview paradigm, weapons and supplies, terrain, and climate. Military Strategy is
important to understand because it is the way that warfare is carried out. A historian named
Kelly Snell writes, Old world tactics and training were inefficient due to modern weaponry
(Snell). There was pressure for a transition to new military strategy because of the new weapons.
The tactics used before the civil war are often referred to as antebellum. Antebellum means
existing before a war (Antebellum). Advances in weaponry caused for a change of thought on how
to approach warfare. All of the military thinking of the day was influenced by Napoleon (Snell).
This war therefore was set up for groundbreaking improvements in strategy. Heidler explains how

Descriptive Essay About Kahului Airport
As I leave for Oregon I enter the Kahului airport, a fairly familiar site as I ve been here a number
of times for various reasons. Once inside I head to my destination, which isn t too hard to find.
The airport is sparsely populated with people awaiting their flights. On the way to my gate I come
across a hot dogstand selling overpriced hot dogs. With nothing else to eat I bought one for
myself and one for each of my brothers. Aside from each bite being a mouthful of onions, it was
decent enough. Maybe he d make more of a profit if he halved the amount of onions he used on
each hotdog. I sit at one of the seats that linethe aisles to eat my overpriced food. Beside me my
brothers sit and eat their own hotdogs, the seats across the aisle remain empty much like most of
the airport. The time comes to board the plane, the small space is filled and we take off shortly
after. Looking out the window all you can see is the dark of night and the lights coming from the
island. With a long flight ahead, I do my best to rest while I can. Following a six hour flight from
Maui I arrive in San Francisco. I step off the plane and am greeted by a sea of people and an
airport much larger than the one in Kahului. The much more calm feeling of the island is replaced
by the hustle and bustle of the much larger city, quite honestly it s a tad strange. There was not a
moment s rest for these people as they hurried along from one gate to the next. There s no order in

The Pros And Cons Of The Homeland Security System
The homeland security system of the United States has a seemingly impossible task of preventing
all attacks on each and every aspect of our country. It is an extremely dangerous world we live in
with countless number of people that want to destroy our way of life. There have been several
improvements made to our securitysystem. To fully critique the capabilities of the homeland
security system of the United States, I m going to evaluate the performance, identify the
shortcomings, and then lastly suggest some improvements to prevent future challenges.
One of the best way to critique the capabilities of something is to look at the facts, and the patterns
that have occurred. Since the creation of the Department of Homeland Security as we know ... Show

We need to be much more selective on who enters this country. Especially when there are other
countries are in the middle of a civil war, leaving the world with millions of refugees to deal
with. Our borders lack the security needed to ensure no one enters the country illegally. After
these two have been accomplished we have stopped the bleeding , and only then we will be able
to limit the amount of lone wolf attackers in our country. Neither of these two strategies effect
our civil liberties that are protected by the constitution. After we have done as much as we
possibly can to eliminate an outside threat, we need to try and stand united. We need strong
leaders in every level of government to keep us focused on who the real enemy is. Lastly, we
need to figure out a strategy of identifying who U.S. citizens are mentally ill and need medical
attention. The last thing we need is a medically ill person driving when they shouldn t be, or
purchasing firearms when they should be. A friend or a loved one should be able to recognize an
issue and alert the proper authorities before something tragic happens.
If we are going to improve the future of the homeland security system, we have to stay one step
ahead. We have to do our best at predicting where the enemy is going to be. We have to realize
where our greatest vulnerabilities are. We have to constantly evaluate our system, and try to

The story line seemed melodramatic throughout the play. The author (August Wilson) has laid the
ground work of many themes throughout the play. The play deals with Race, Men and their
masculinity, Morality, Dreams and hopes of everyone involved, Family, Duty, Betrayal and
Dissatisfaction. The play begins with Troy and his best friend Bono entering the yard chatting as
they usually do coming home from work as garage collectors for their company. Every Friday is

Troy also deals (and is responsible for) with his brother Gabriel, who received a serious head
injury during the war and hasn t been the same since. Troy s son Cory tells his father that he has
a chance to be scouted for a recruiter from the University of North Carolina for its football team.
But since Troy feels that Cory should be concentrating on working at the local A amp;P
supermarket and his studies and leave football alone. One can understand as to maybe why Troy
feels that his son should work and focus on school instead of football. Since Troy was
disappointed because of his lack of a professional baseball career (because of his color), he did
not want to see his son receive the same kind of heartbreak he had suffered. Troy, by doing this,
he is holding his son back (whether he realizes it or not) from possibly having a better life than
what he had or currently has. Troy seems somewhat jealous of his son Cory and really bitter
when it comes to sports. One of the main themes of the play seems to come when Troy has to
tell his wife Rose (coming clean) that he is going to be a father again. Rose becomes upset and
wants to know why Troy couldn t stay in her bed instead of going elsewhere. Troy attempt to
rationalize what he has done, says that he is only trying to feel good about himself and that he

Business Environments And The Workplace Before Entering...
I learned a lot of things this half year, although the most of them were negative. I found myself
too vulnerable to suit the business environments and the workplace before entering this class. I
was not brave to be the first one to express my opinions in front of others; I was weak at facing
challenges, and I always felt nervous and difficult to handle them; I could not focus on one thing
too long because I got distracted from a lot of temptation. The worst thing was: I hold my
transcripts from undergraduate school and felt like I was ready to go to workplace and I was
very sure about my believing; I did not recognized what my weakness were, and I always
considered myself a good worker. In realty I was not that good enough to be a moderate worker. It
is necessary for an accountant in today s public accounting companies to obtain different soft skills
rather than only calculate numbers, and also important for him or her to update their knowledge in
time to accommodate the clients needs and fulfill their objectives. I would say that the most
important thing, rather than those negative sides of myself, is gaining a chance to get rid of my
weakness in both hard and soft skills and grow to be stronger in mentality. Before stepping into the
business world, I am studying on becoming a real businesswoman here in this class, and now I
have changed and grow.

Global Warming And Its Effects On The Environment Essay
There s no argument about it now, global warming exists and is a problem. More and more people
are becoming concerned with greenhouse gases effects on the environment as well as humans
effects on the environment through our carbon footprint. Many activities humans participate in
help add to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and increase the size and the effect of the
carbon footprint humanity is leaving behind. The carbon footprint is the amount of carbon the
humans create as waste through many processes such as the burning of fossil fuels and more.
Recyclingis one of the first ideas used to combat pollution and greenhouse gasemissions. However,
many people still argue recycling s effectiveness and whether the processes are helping and if the
processes are worth the money. Recycling helps reduce the carbon footprint by reusing multiple
types of materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as creating alternative sources
of energy. Recycling s main idea is to reuse materials from past products that were already
created and are no longer used or just the simple reuse of a product the way it is. The recycling
of old materials reduces the need to create or harvest raw materials in which both of those
processes release large amounts of greenhouse gases. Most people know of recycling paper and
plastic, but many more types of materials can be reused like metals and textiles. B. Zamani, M.
Svanström, G. Peters, and T. Rydberg (2015) state that the reuse of

Analysis Of The Short Story Where Did You Get That Name
What defines the cause that ultimately depicts our take on life? On the surface, people typically
see gender as a definable matter, but fail to consider the variations that exist. Stories provide
examples of infectious reasons one views the world as they do. One s identity influences the
authenticity of a situation presented, maturity affects how one contributes to foul behavior, and
those reflecting a wide variety of experiences are more adaptable to foreign circumstances. The
background of an individual determines their approach and consideration of situations. The short
storyWhere Did You Get That Name? , by Baratunde Thurston, demonstrates this precisely, when
Baratunde, a young Nigerian boy, finds himself explaining the origin of his name to who he refers
to as Father Nigeria, saying I got it from my parents (Thurston3), only for the interrogation to
continue and the man to dismiss his explanation and ruthlessly assume that Baratunde [had] no
history, no culture, no roots...[and] decided to indict, judge and reject all of African America.
(Thurston3). Father Nigeria , being marinated in the Nigerian Culture all his life, immediately
questioned Baratunde s authenticity. Because Baratunde was only partially Nigerian, this man
reverted to his culturally defensive mentality, and undermined Baratunde s identity. Father Nigeria
had come from purely Nigerian roots, and when a Nigerian exposed to American culture attempted
to explain his name, he automatically reacted

Outline Of Jackson Pollock

He later attended a college of arts. I get the feeling from reading about Pollock he wanted to be
different. He did not want to be constrained by others ideas or conformed to what Americans of
the art world wanted from artists. I believe he struggled and was tormented by his own feelings
and unable to cope. Using alcohol, I believe the bottle took all his inhibitions away and allowed
him to do as he pleased without judging himself. I think there are moments of soberness when
he stopped painting and took a step back and looked at his creations. I believe in these moments
he would sit pondering or rethinking why he did what he did. He would start to feel whatever
emotion and he would then pick up another color and try to make an amends with his own
creations. It seems maddening for this behavior but it shows this in his art. It seems this
madness went on and on until there was no more resolution for him, he would then abruptly
stop. After more drinking I think he would start a new painting. This could be the reasoning as
to why we see some of his last paintings, looking so dreary in color and lack of rhythm. The
paintings which have vibrant colors are when he was at peace with who he was as a person. I do
not care for all of his paintings. Some of the paintings do look like someone just dropped paint on a

In the future, Eileen Fisher needs to make sure they deliver a consistent message, even if they are

consistent.
My recommendation for the future of the Eileen Fisher brand is that they need to focus on keeping
the Established segment engaged with the brand and grow their customer base by positioning the
brand to attract women from the emerging segment. They can accomplish this by positioning the

segments. The general message will be based on this idea of the successful woman with focus on
the traditional clothing line and slight emphasis on the accessories. More specific campaigns

Social Relations Between Economic Organizations And The...
1.1Introduction.
From what process(es) does the code, the simulacrum, the object as a sign, emerge?
According to Baudrillard, Symbolic Exchange is a form of exchange which both maintains and
organizes divergent social relations and hierarchies [1]. The difference between Symbolic
Exchange and other types of exchange, is that the value of an exchanged object does not value the
act of exchanging it [1].
Fascination surrounding the dynamics of production, distribution, and consumption have been
focal points in the dialogue of politics since Plato s archetypal philosophies [2]. New life was
delivered into these issues in the modern world, through stringent analysis and critique by Karl
Marx, within his exploration regarding the relationship between economic organizations and the
distribution between power in society. Although, in spite of Marx s prediction regarding capitalisms
looming collapse [3], capitalism continues to expand [4]. Jean Baudrillard s concept of Symbolic
Exchange portrays a formidable role in comprehending why Karl Marx s prediction in regards to the
disintegration of Capitalism has not come to fruition. Baudrillard adds to the preexisting Marxian
notion of use value and exchange value proposing that, in contemporary consumer orientated
society, various commodities inhibit a symbolic value which comprises their status , and thus, their
power [1].

The building that the Franks hid in was a good hiding spot because it is a tall building with many

be paid to play. Many argue that they do not have time to get real jobs because the requirements for
the sport that they participate in are far too demanding. Others cite that these athletes are provided
full scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. However regardless of

Therefore leaving them limited time to find jobs that allow them to work around their tedious
scheduals.
One rule that the NCAA maintains, is that while its athletes are playing a school sport, they are
not allowed to use their talents playing for paying teams. To many this seems unfair as students
who participate in things such as the band or a singing group can use their talents in jobs such as
lessons or paid gigs that are available. However, student athletes are often offered jobs by the
school to participate as trainers or instructors in summer camps. The fact that they are already
talented in the sport that they are asked to instruct gives them an edge on others who may be
looking to get the same job, and therefore offers these students summer jobs without the hassle that
others face finding work.
Also student athletes are given a monthly stipend to spend while they are on road trips, to pay
for their food, laundry, and other things. On average students are given 200 250 dollars a month,
that they can choose to do whatever like with. If the students wishes to keep the money and put it
into a savings account this does not violate any rules. (Fleck, buzzle.com) The NCAA also offers
a special assistance fund that was created in 1991. This fund allows for student athletes to be
given up to 500 dollars a year to

There are currently four known Ebola virus strands that are deadly to humans. The virus is transmitted through bodily fluids so it can be transferred via mucosal surfaces or abrasions on the skin when being in direct contact to an infected person. It is highly pathogenic and causes death in approx. 50 90% of all known cases. This laboratory and numerous experiments has shown that antigen X1 should be used with adjuvant x2 as together they stimulate the appropriate immune response against Ebola and could be a viable cure for the company. Introduction: When a viral infection happens within an organism, there are two main types of immune responses. The first, is the innate immune response which involves different resistance mechanisms to determine and respond to an unspecified pathogen. Innate immunity in relation to viruses requires cytokines and NK cells to destroy the pathogen. Viral infection in cells promote the production of a specific type of cytokines known as interferon and they interfere with viral replication in the host cells. Interferon can be split down into three main molecules: interferon пЃЎ, interferon пЃў and interferon пЃ§. Interferon пЃЎ пЃў are the main molecules in viral infection. Interferon also activate natural killer cells in order for them to destroy virus infected cells and allow the release of cytokines. The adaptive immune response also ... O meally suggests that Ellison also incorporates the Blues within his character developments for a very different purpose, other than those of mood and rhythmic sequences. He suggests that Ellison intentionally focuses on the music of Armstrong so as to introduce a concept of materialistic fascination within the narrator. Just as the catchy tunes of the Blues, the narrator too is fascinated by the concepts of equality and justice and is haunted by racial imbalances however, he is simply intrigued by such ideologies but never really tries to divulge his entire aspirations into the cause. He waits for a magical idea, which for him will be the ticket to success and consequently allow him to become visible. He is in many aspects selfish to his own dilemma of invisibility and strives only to be recognized much as the various artists from the Blues era. The narrator s obsession with recognition can be recognized early on in the prologue where he strings 1369 light bulbs in the underground hole just to feel visible. Such a comparable lunacy can be observed in the Blues where many musicians often transcend into another state of consciousness where the singular focus of their cognizance is the beat similar to the narrator s unrealistic obsession with ... • 6. Does The Otl Mathematics Instruction For Conceptual... Does the OTL Mathematics Instruction for Conceptual Understanding Matter? Some studies have shown that preservice teachers and in service elementary teachers have knowledge gaps in their mathematics content and pedagogical content knowledge (e.g., Ball, 1990; Ma, 1999). The knowledge that teachers have for teaching influence their instruction and the lack of such can limit how they teach mathematics for understanding (Borko Putnam, 1996). For this reason, teacher preparation programs and professional development forums should emphasize and provide the opportunities for learning to teach mathematics for conceptual understanding. Not only do such opportunities build on preservice teachers mathematics content knowledge, but they also introduce them to the new ways of teaching mathematics that they may not have experienced in their earlier mathematics learning. The findings from this study suggest that frequent experiences in learning mathematics for conceptual understanding through particular strategies is related to an increase in PSTs knowledge about teaching mathematics. In particular, more opportunities that allow PSTs to learn to show why a procedure works was significantly related to the average PSTs increase in content knowledge between the teacher preparation programs in the United States. Similarly, within the Polish generalist, United States specialist, and Russian teacher preparation programs the relationships between the OTL to show why procedures work and ... If you define friendship it says: the emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends but what really is friendship? It is a bond between 2 people most of the time who have common interests or who have had something important happen together but sometimes it s just two people who meet and don t have anything in common but you still meet and hang out. A true friend puts your happiness and safety in front of your friendship, doesn t ask you to put him/her before your principals and a true friend is a good influence. You need to be able to trust a good friend and they need to trust you. How does this apply to the Chronicles of Narnia though? The most thorough account of judicial practice would then have to go on to study the education and training of judges, and their embedding within a particular culture or cultures of legal behaviour. What are the consequences of this argument? If practices are essentially ways of acting in given circumstances, any general theory may be too distant from the practice to capture how judges actually interpret cases. Judicial interpretation is always a matter of a specific case and a singular set of facts. To understand why a judge in a particular case comes to a particular conclusion necessitates a study of a precise legal context. In other words, a general account of precedent perhaps tells us more about the practice of academic writing than it does about the work of judges. It may be that the best way to understand the practice of judicial interpretation is to abandon any general account, and to see how it proceeds in different doctrinal areas of law. This would indicate that the best way to understand the practice of precedent is to study cases within their specific contexts†. †Precedence and judicial creativity However, given that we need a general account of precedent, we can suggest some overarching concerns that structure judicial practice. This tumor is benign or not cancer, so it cannot spread to other parts of your body. The most frequently awarded letter grade in the nation is currently an A, given 43% of the time. However, people are questioning whether today s students have actually gotten smarter. These higher grades could be due to gradeinflation. Grade inflation is defined as the tendency to award progressively higher academic grades for work that would have received lower grades in the past. Although it is known that grades have been rising, it is questionable what the true reason is. Professors and students around the nation believe that grade inflation is a detrimental problem that needs to be solved. • 22. How Culture And Perception Are Directly Influenced By... The idea behind language as culture is explained succinctly by dividing the description into a framework of separate ideas. By breaking down how perception is developed through environment and the presence of norms, culture is demonstrated as the provider that perpetuates this social environment. The cohesion required of large populations begins with cooperation and communication. From the expression of traditions, the reinforcements of norms through stories and the passing of knowledge, language is the cohesive glue of people to environment. This can be exemplified further by a pursuit that transcends individual populations to create a separate culture and therefore maintains its own environment. In this paper I hope to analyze and illustrate how culture and perceptionare directly influenced by language. Beginning with the knowledge that perception drives the creation of anything from human minds or hands, it can easily be suggested that interactions with the surrounding world are subject to this same perception. The very experience of living is sensory and and dependant on what is presented to stimulate those senses. Following this logic what has been created through the influence of environment is, according to the author and Material Culturalist Richard Grassby, subject to both etic and emic analysis (592). The reality of social interactions within a given environment, and the people who inhabit this space, must also be structured to be perceived and understood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This war of ours is the American Civil War 1861 1865. It is one of the most significant wars ever fought in American History. Many Americans lost their lives, some defending freedom, and others defending the Union. The warfare was a major contributor to the casualties suffered during this bloodbath. The five factors are: military strategy, worldview paradigm, weapons and supplies, terrain, and climate. Military Strategy is important to understand because it is the way that warfare is carried out. Troy also deals (and is responsible for) with his brother Gabriel, who received a serious head injury during the war and hasn t been the same since. Troy s son Cory tells his father that he has a chance to be scouted for a recruiter from the University of North Carolina for its football team. But since Troy feels that Cory should be concentrating on working at the local A amp;P supermarket and his studies and leave football alone. One can understand as to maybe why Troy feels that his son should work and focus on school instead of football. Since Troy was disappointed because of his lack of a professional baseball career (because of his color), he did not want to see his son receive the same kind of heartbreak he had suffered. Troy, by doing this, he is holding his son back (whether he realizes it or not) from possibly having a better life than what he had or currently has. Troy seems somewhat jealous of his son Cory and really bitter when it comes to sports. One of the main themes of the play seems to come when Troy has to tell his wife Rose (coming clean) that he is going to be a father again. • 29. Business Environments And The Workplace Before Entering... I learned a lot of things this half year, although the most of them were negative. I found myself too vulnerable to suit the business environments and the workplace before entering this class. I was not brave to be the first one to express my opinions in front of others; I was weak at facing challenges, and I always felt nervous and difficult to handle them; I could not focus on one thing too long because I got distracted from a lot of temptation. The worst thing was: I hold my transcripts from undergraduate school and felt like I was ready to go to workplace and I was very sure about my believing; I did not recognized what my weakness were, and I always considered myself a good worker. In realty I was not that good enough to be a moderate worker. It is necessary for an accountant in today s public accounting companies to obtain different soft skills rather than only calculate numbers, and also important for him or her to update their knowledge in time to accommodate the clients needs and fulfill their objectives. I would say that the most important thing, rather than those negative sides of myself, is gaining a chance to get rid of my weakness in both hard and soft skills and grow to be stronger in mentality. Before stepping into the business world, I am studying on becoming a real businesswoman here in this class, and now I have changed and grow. • 30. Global Warming And Its Effects On The Environment Essay There s no argument about it now, global warming exists and is a problem. More and more people are becoming concerned with greenhouse gases effects on the environment as well as humans effects on the environment through our carbon footprint. Many activities humans participate in help add to the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and increase the size and the effect of the carbon footprint humanity is leaving behind. The carbon footprint is the amount of carbon the humans create as waste through many processes such as the burning of fossil fuels and more. Recyclingis one of the first ideas used to combat pollution and greenhouse gasemissions. However, many people still argue recycling s effectiveness and whether the processes are helping and if the processes are worth the money. Recycling helps reduce the carbon footprint by reusing multiple types of materials, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as creating alternative sources of energy. Recycling s main idea is to reuse materials from past products that were already created and are no longer used or just the simple reuse of a product the way it is. The recycling of old materials reduces the need to create or harvest raw materials in which both of those processes release large amounts of greenhouse gases. Most people know of recycling paper and plastic, but many more types of materials can be reused like metals and textiles. B. Zamani, M. SvanstrГ¶m, G. Peters, and T. Rydberg (2015) state that the reuse of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Analysis Of The Short Story Where Did You Get That Name What defines the cause that ultimately depicts our take on life? On the surface, people typically see gender as a definable matter, but fail to consider the variations that exist. Stories provide examples of infectious reasons one views the world as they do. One s identity influences the authenticity of a situation presented, maturity affects how one contributes to foul behavior, and those reflecting a wide variety of experiences are more adaptable to foreign circumstances. The background of an individual determines their approach and consideration of situations. The short storyWhere Did You Get That Name? , by Baratunde Thurston, demonstrates this precisely, when Baratunde, a young Nigerian boy, finds himself explaining the origin of his name to who he refers to as Father Nigeria, saying I got it from my parents (Thurston3), only for the interrogation to continue and the man to dismiss his explanation and ruthlessly assume that Baratunde [had] no history, no culture, no roots...[and] decided to indict, judge and reject all of African America. (Thurston3). Father Nigeria , being marinated in the Nigerian Culture all his life, immediately questioned Baratunde s authenticity. Because Baratunde was only partially Nigerian, this man reverted to his culturally defensive mentality, and undermined Baratunde s identity. Father Nigeria had come from purely Nigerian roots, and when a Nigerian exposed to American culture attempted to explain his name, he automatically reacted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Outline Of Jackson Pollock Outline / Background of Artist Jackson Pollock Mr. Jackson Pollock, deemed the most famous modern artist of the 20th Century is well known in the history of American art as an Abstract Expressionist of drip paintings. Jackson Pollock (1912 1956) Jackson was attributed claim to be a liberating artist with no real discipline of one s self expressions. In 1929 Jackson Pollock began his art studies at the Students League in New York, here is where he was introduced to using his expressions from the subconscious and creating art. He did not want to be constrained by others ideas or conformed to what Americans of the art world wanted from artists. I believe he struggled and was tormented by his own feelings and unable to cope. Using alcohol, I believe the bottle took all his inhibitions away and allowed him to do as he pleased without judging himself. I think there are moments of soberness when he stopped painting and took a step back and looked at his creations. I believe in these moments he would sit pondering or rethinking why he did what he did. He would start to feel whatever emotion and he would then pick up another color and try to make an amends with his own creations. It seems maddening for this behavior but it shows this in his art. It seems this madness went on and on until there was no more resolution for him, he would then abruptly stop. After more drinking I think he would start a new painting. This could be the reasoning as to why we see some of his last paintings, looking so dreary in color and lack of rhythm. The paintings which have vibrant colors are when he was at peace with who he was as a person. I do not care for all of his paintings. Some of the paintings do look like someone just dropped paint on a canvas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eileen Fisher In the future, Eileen Fisher needs to make sure they deliver a consistent message, even if they are attracting customers from other segments the focus needs to be on keeping the Eileen brand consistent. My recommendation for the future of the Eileen Fisher brand is that they need to focus on keeping the Established segment engaged with the brand and grow their customer base by positioning the brand to attract women from the emerging segment. • 35. Social Relations Between Economic Organizations And The... 1.1Introduction. From what process(es) does the code, the simulacrum, the object as a sign, emerge? According to Baudrillard, Symbolic Exchange is a form of exchange which both maintains and organizes divergent social relations and hierarchies [1]. The difference between Symbolic Exchange and other types of exchange, is that the value of an exchanged object does not value the act of exchanging it [1]. Fascination surrounding the dynamics of production, distribution, and consumption have been focal points in the dialogue of politics since Plato s archetypal philosophies [2]. New life was delivered into these issues in the modern world, through stringent analysis and critique by Karl Marx, within his exploration regarding the relationship between economic organizations and the distribution between power in society. Although, in spite of Marx s prediction regarding capitalisms looming collapse [3], capitalism continues to expand [4]. Jean Baudrillard s concept of Symbolic Exchange portrays a formidable role in comprehending why Karl Marx s prediction in regards to the disintegration of Capitalism has not come to fruition. Baudrillard adds to the preexisting Marxian notion of use value and exchange value proposing that, in contemporary consumer orientated society, various commodities inhibit a symbolic value which comprises their status , and thus, their power [1]. 1.2Simulacrum, Simulation, and Sign. Others cite that these athletes are provided full scholarships to attend the schools at which they are playing the sport. Therefore leaving them limited time to find jobs that allow them to work around their tedious scheduals. One rule that the NCAA maintains, is that while its athletes are playing a school sport, they are not allowed to use their talents playing for paying teams. To many this seems unfair as students who participate in things such as the band or a singing group can use their talents in jobs such as lessons or paid gigs that are available. However, student athletes are often offered jobs by the school to participate as trainers or instructors in summer camps. The fact that they are already talented in the sport that they are asked to instruct gives them an edge on others who may be looking to get the same job, and therefore offers these students summer jobs without the hassle that others face finding work.
