On my farm the farmer bred British Friesian Cattle. Friesian cattle are a breed of cattle known
today as the world s highest production dairy animal. Originating in Europe Friesian s were bred

he finds they are a more dual purpose cow. This means the cow produces good milk and also has a
good conformation.

There are many advantages to them for example high yield and good eating quality. The farmer
rotates the crop every year as it prevents the build up of potato cyst nematode.
Cultivation practises:
Potatoes need deep and well cultivated soil. Ground left without vegetation on it over the winter
months is susceptible to nitrogen leaching. As a result, ploughing to a depth of 22cm, rotovation
and bed formation occur in spring to produce a fine seedbed. Potatoes are then sown 10 cm below
the ridge by hand. I learned from talking to the farmer that the seeds should be spaced 20 25cm
apart to help with individual growth of the plant.
Establishment:
On my farm the farmer does a soil test before he sows the potato crop. This is to find out the
nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK) content of the soil. The farmer then applies a
compound fertilizer such as 10 10 20 to their potato crop before planting the seed. This is done by
broadcasting the fertilizer and then incorporating it into the soil in one of the final cultivations.
Weed control:
Once 15 to 20 per cent of the potato plants have emerged after sowing the potato crop is sprayed
with an herbicide. The contact herbicide kills all plants including the potatoes however the potato
crops will quickly recover. I was told the residual herbicide prevents any weed seeds germinating.
Weeds were also controlled on my farm by a process called earthing up. This covers the growing

Essay On Dual Eligible
Dual eligible is a term that refers to about 7.5 million low income older people and younger persons
who have disabilities who happen to be enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid. Nearly two thirds of
the people who are dual eligible are ages 65 years and over. The remaining one third of the dual
eligible are younger people who are disabled. People who are dual eligible qualify for full benefits
through Medicaid. Even though the people who are dual eligible are a small share of Medicaid
enrollment, they account for numerous health care services and expenditures (Wilhide, 2005).
There are more than half a million Floridians in the coverage gap. Floridahas a huge Medicaid
population which accounts for about 3.3 million people. Most adults in Florida who don t have
any children are not Medicaid eligible. When people in this state have low income below the
poverty level, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) won t provide subsidies, because the law
recommends that they have Medicaid instead (Norris, 2015).
Basic Case Facts
Dual eligible people can face extreme health concerns such as heart disease, dementia, diabetes, or
severe mental illnesses. One in four of these people live in nursing facilities. These people account

look like. Several months later, the state was told that LIP funding is heavily linked to the
expansion of Medicaid. Since Florida chose not to expand, it doesn t get LIP

Development of Control and Confidentiality for Database...
Early research efforts in the area of access control and confidentiality for DBMSs focused on the
development of two different classes of models, based on the unrestricted access control policy and
on the mandatory access control policy. This early research was transmitting in the framework of
relational databasesystems. The relational data model, being a declarative and high level model for
specifying the logical structure of data, made the development of simple declarative languages for
specifying access controlpolicies. These earlier models and the unrestricted models in particular,
introduced some important principles that set apart access control models for database systems

Also, the initial format of familiar commands for grant and revoke of authorizations that are today
part of the SQL standard. Next research proposals have extended this basic model with a variety of
features, such as negative authorization, role based and task based authorization temporal
authorization, and context aware authorization. This weakness makes unrestricted access controls
vulnerable to malicious attacks, such as Trojan horses embedded in application programs. A Trojan
horse is a program with an apparent or actually very useful function, which contains some hidden
functions exploiting the genuine authorizations of the invoking process. Sophisticated Trojan
horses may leak information by means of covert channels, enabling unauthorized access to data. A
covert channel is a component or feature of the system that is misused to encode or represent
information for illegal transmission, without breaching the stated access control policy. A large
variety of components or features can be misused to create covert channels, including the system
clock, operating system inter process communication primitives, error messages, the existence of
specific file names, the concurrency control mechanism, and so on. The area of compulsory access
control and multilevel database systems tried to address such problems through the development of
access control models based on information classification, some of which were also incorporated in
commercial products. Early compulsory

Queen Liuokalani Research Paper
The first and only reigning Hawaiian queen and the last Hawaiian sovereign to govern the
islands, her name is Queen Liliuokalani. In the childhood of Queen Liliuokalani, there were lot
s interesting facts about her childhood to her adult life. I thought she was just a great Queen of
Hawai i and had a great life. But, after I read this, this was not true. She had lots of a hard time to
defend the Hawai i as the last Hawaiian queen. As a queen of Hawai i, she needs to go to jail
because of what she believes is not right to take over Hawai i. She didn t become a hero for
Hawaiian people, but, she was inspired by many Hawaiians.
The fact that I was surprised was after she got born, she immediately moved to the house of
another chief and adopted. But in Hawai ian culture, being adopted by royal family is to secure a
higher rank for that child. If I were her, I wouldn t like to be adopted, and if I get adopted, I will
hate my parents that adopt me to another family. Because I will think why will they let me live
with them and grumble to them. But, Queen Liliuokalani didn t grumble, she just lived out how
her life was. I wouldn t like to leave my parents that gave birth to me because I think it s not right

The critically acclaimed and commercially successful film,...
The critically acclaimed and commercially successful film, Spiderman 2, was hailed as a landmark
film that illustrated the unfamiliar concept of a hero with an underlying humanity. Throughout the
film, Peter Parker demonstrates a remarkable, organic character that makes him and his alter ego,
Spiderman, accessible to a wide audience, allowing various age groups to easily identify and
connect with him. This action packed clip is no exception to the fundamental theme of the sequel
to the 2002 film, Spiderman. Despite a tight story space, the clip has been one of the enduring
hallmarks of the film. Through enrapturing cinematographic techniques, dynamic secondary
characters, and a reflective artistic context, Spiderman Stops the Train has... Show more content on

Distinctively, an intriguing aspect of the clip lies in the fact that the protagonist does not undergo
much personal transformation, thus indicating the static and rather flat nature of the character.
Throughout the clip, Spiderman is simply portrayed as a hero attempting to perform his duty; he
will either save the train or fail to do so. In contrast, throughout the entire length of the clip, the
secondary characters the passengers undergo a rather radical transformation from being fearful,
skeptical, and mocking to a fiercely loyal and trusting group. These facets may be inferred from
the only person Spiderman directly communicates with during the entire ordeal: the train operator.
Quite possibly, his initial fear in the statement, Oh my God, this is it! reflects all of the passengers
perspectives of their present situation. When Spiderman initially fails to reduce the train s speed,
this fear turns into mocking skepticism as stated by the old man and is indicative of the group s
thoughts: Any more bright ideas? However, one can observe that the unbelieving operator is one
of the first people to prevent Peter Parker from falling into the city street below, an indication of a
character change. The gratefulness and trust that the passengers expressed can by observed by their
symbolic gesture of bearing the comatose hero on their arms in solemn jubilation and respectful
silence. Perhaps their trust and loyalty may be most evident when,

How did Edward Jenner s discovery and the promotion of the smallpox vaccination enable the
eradication of smallpox and how did it spark rise of preventative medicine globally?
Preliminary Thesis: Edward Jenner s discovery of the smallpox vaccination demonstrated that the

Symptoms And Symptoms Of A Mental Disorder
A mental disorder is a diagnosis of a behavioral or mental pattern that can cause suffering or a
poor ability to function in ordinary life. Such features may be persistent, relapsing and remitting,
or occur as a single episode. Many disorders have been described, with signs and symptoms that
vary widely between specific disorders.
The causes of mental disorders are often unclear. Theories may incorporate findings from a range
of fields. Mental disorders are usually defined by a combination of how a person behaves, feels,
perceives or thinks.
Services are based in psychiatric hospitals or in the community, and assessments are carried out by
psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and clinical social workers, using various methods but often ...

DSM IV precedes the definition with caveats, stating that, as in the case with many medical terms,
mental disorder lacks a consistent operational definition that covers all situations , noting that
different levels of abstraction can be used for medical definitions, including pathology,
symptomology, deviance from a normal range, or etiology, and that the same is true for mental
disorders, so that sometimes one type of definition is appropriate, and sometimes another,
depending on the situation. Edward Theodore Gein was an American murderer and body snatcher.

MANIC DEPRESSION
Estimates say that about 2 and a half million Americans suffer from manic depressive illness. Also
called bipolar disorder, this mental illness involves episodes in which a persons mood alternates
between extreme mania and depression. A person may experience pressure and racing thoughts and
speech, and often uncontrolled reckless behavior. Two thirds of those who suffer from bipolar
illness have numerous episodes of recurrences of alternating phases. Most people suffering from
manic depressive illness experience extreme cases of up and Dow emotion. Studies say manic

Certain things may happen thats out of their normal character like taking plane trips all over the
country or making large investments. Excessive gambling , buying very expensive items, abusing
alcohol or drugs, and making unwanted sexual advances.
Causes of manic depression seem to be rooted in the genes. Studies used on identical twin show
that if one twin has bipolar disorder its a 70% chance the other will have it too.
With fraternal twins its only a 15% chance that the other will have bipolar disorder.
Bipolar disorder seems to run in families. Personal or work related stress can trigger a manic
episode. Other factors such as prenatal development, childhood experiences, and social conditions
can play a huge role.
Some people enjoy the sensations and energies that accompany manic episodes. It is proven that
very mild cases of manic depression can actually attribute to success in business and arts. A
person may experience episodes of over confidence which may result in unfortunate
consequences because of a bad business venture. The milder, chronic form of bipolar illness is
called cyclothymic disorder. This form alternates between mild depression and mild mania. When
someone is in the in the stage of a euphoric episode, their behavior may seem a bit odd, or in
some cases completely bizarre. They may become involved in such goal oriented activities such as
sex,work, school, or social

When it comes to the constitutionality of the individual mandate many of the bills supports will
look to the commerce clause and seek justification for its passage. This portion of the debate is not
just about health care, but instead about the scope and power of the federal government; if the
courts decide that the individual mandate is constitutional and therefore grant the federal
government the power to force citizens to buy a product from a private company in order to protect
them , then the existence of the constitution will become negligible. Before the adoption of the
constitution the states were reluctant to ratify it on the basis that they felt that it might grant too
much power to the federal government to which James Madison, the writer of the constitution,
wrote The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and
defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite

government not to grant it the complete control over the lives of all citizens. Supporters will make

Color Psychology
Color is defined as the quality of an object or substance with respect to light reflected by the
object, usually determined visually by measurement of hue, saturation, and brightness of the
reflected light; saturation or chroma; hue (Webster s Dictionary). Color is an extremely powerful
psychological tool used across the globe. Our world would be bland and boring without the use of
colorin our everyday lives. Using color psychology can encourage sales, calm a crowd, and even
help a person send a positive (or negative) message. Many companies use color psychology in their
marketing schemes. June Campbell, writer for Nightcates Multimedia Productions, states, Colors

Finally, even schools are getting in on a bit of color psychology. Some schools are known to
paint the locker room of the opposing team in pink. Yes, pink. Pink drains energy out of a person
and causes fatigue a very strategic move. Prisons are also known to use pink in their jail cells
because it drains all the negative energy from the inmates. Culture has a large influence on the
meanings of color as well. First, China looks at colors differently than we do here in America.
Let us take a look at the color red once again. In China red is the color worn by brides. If a
Chinese woman were to wear white for her wedding, her parents would not allow her to marry.
Secondly, in India red is also a symbol of purity and good luck, which is why it is the traditional
wedding gown color. Also, yellow is said to be a sacred and imperial color for their culture.
Now, in America, we have different meanings for certain colors than other countries, and our flag
colors and symbols best represent us as a whole. The white represents purity and innocence, red
signifies valor and hardiness, and blue stands for justice, perseverance, and vigilance. The stars
show the heavens and all the good that people strive for, while the strips emulate the sun s rays.
Breaking down each country s flag by symbol and color only shows, in more detail, the background

Preventing Hispanic Teenage Mothers From Being Able For...
There are many barriers which prevent Hispanic teenage mothers from being able to graduate high
school. However, there are many ways they can overcome those obstacles, such as receiving their
education and having educational, family, health, and economical support.
School/Education
Staying in school and receiving their education is important so teenage mothers can remain resilient
and graduate high school. In a study conducted, 69.7% of adolescents in the study were either
enrolled, or graduated from high school. 78.7% of those adolescents received passing grades, and
76.7% of them saw finishing high school as essential (SIaDAPA). Most of the adolescents in this
study saw the importance of staying in school and education, and they graduated. They know that
eventually their hard work will pay off. This shows that graduating high school is related to the
students value of how important high school is (SIaDAPA). Along with their cultural and social
norms, a teen s personal values may be reflected by their educational decisions in life (School
Importance and Dropout Among Pregnant Adolescents). If they desire positive educational desires,
they ll have positive personal values such as being courageous, staying motivated, and being
committed. If teenage mothers do not have high expectations for themselves academically, we can
assume that they may not have positive personal values in order to persevere and graduate high
school. Therefore, they are less likely to graduate high

Female Athletes As Role Models For The Sports Industry
Female athletes do not get paid as much as they deserve for the work they execute for the sports
industry. Female athletes do so much for the sports industry that is not appreciated. They are good
role models for adolescent girls to be confident in themselves and to get involved in sports and
activities outside or at school. Femaleathletes also produce profit for the industry as well as earn
money from endorsements just as maleathletes do. Although people may state that female
athletes lack in many different factors, female athletes are good role models for their young
viewers, they are the driving force that generates most of the revenue for the teams federation,
and they portray the equal amount of work that the male athletes do and therefore, should
receive the same payment. Peer pressure and self esteem are two things girls are struggling with
in today s day and age, but female athletes encourage girls to get involved in sports in order to
clear up some stresses they might be having. Female athletes promote confidence and strength
which helps adolescent girls understand that these things are key to being a successful person in
life. Experts state that by the age of 12, girls are 6 times more likely to drop out of playing sports
than boys because girls do not receive as many positive reinforcements about their sports
participation as boys. Female athletes can improve and change the behavior of the girls so that
they will have confidence and feel like they want to

Essay on The Secrets to Be Innovative
Innovation is the process of changing something to make it better. To innovate a product is to
modernise it so as to suit the people living in the current generation. Lots of ideas need to be
generated in order to innovate. Innovation has no age restrictions. As long as you still have a pair
of hand and feet with a good working brain, innovationcan take place anywhere and at any time.
IDEO was founded by David Kelley in Palo Alto, California, in 1991. He and his team works
tirelessly everyday innovating and creating new ideas. IDEO designs about 90 new products every
year. Apart from creating new products, IDEO can take any existing random product from the
market and redesign it to make it better.

There are many factors which contributed to the success and innovative design of the shopping
trolley. Sticking firm to their mottos only have one conversation at a time, stay focus throughout
the project, encourage wild ideas, and fail often in order to succeed sooner allows them to create
new products and generate wild ideas easily in a short span of time. One important thing which
they never do is to criticise on one another s idea. They believe that any idea is important as it
would help them to take off from scratch.
Although the people in IDEO are not chefs, they do have their own special recipe recipe for
innovation. They work for long hours every day making full use of every single second of every
single minute, of every single hour. Maximising their time is the key to being able to do more
than the rest who don t. The people in IDEO are all open minded. From the bosses to the
eclectics, every single one of them are impartial towards new ideas. Being able to accept new
ideas would make a person much wiser and knowledgeable and hence lead to greater productivity.
Working with a boss who demands for fresh ideas would constantly train the staffs to be able to
come up with ideas quickly. For example, if a lecturer constantly makes the students practise using
a certain formula (eg. e=mc2) repeatedly, they probably would have mastered on the application

Miss Peregrine s Home For Peculiar Children
Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children is a horror young adult literature written by
Ransom Riggs. It tells Jacob Portman s story who followed clues that lead him to a house for
refugees on the Cairnholm Island off the coast of Wales, where his grandfather used to stay
during the Second World War back in the 1940s. The Cairnholm Island itself only had one phone
and was powered with generators that shut off at 10 pm everyday, foreshadowing the fact that
Jacob would go back in time later on. The peculiar children all lived with Miss Peregrine in a
time loop , created by Miss Peregrine herself. Because of this, the children didn t age; everyday
they repeated September 3rd, 1940 over and over again. For seventy years they had stayed on that
day, although their experience of it is continuous, thus they were able to remember what they did

Sierra Leno Civil War
30 short years after declaring independence from Britain, The Sierra Leone Civil War began in
1991 and concluded in 2002. The war left the country in disarray, with little government authority
and resources to rebuild. Foreign aid quickly rushed into the country, including the WASH sector
that lacked coordination and focus. This made the country highly dependent on foreign aid to
continue building efforts of sanitation materials. In 2006, an estimated 30 percent of people in

The Gentleman s Game
The gentleman s game What comes to your mind when I say the world s hardest sport? I m sure
many of you start picturing football, baseball, maybe even hockey, but how many of you would
ever consider golf to be the hardest sport? Unlike the three sports mentioned above in golf you
don t have any teammates to help you out if you re have a bad game. In golfyou have to be good at
all aspects of the game in order to be successful unlike in football, baseball, and hockey where you
can still be successful by only mastering one position. In football every football field measures
the same size, in baseball the pitcher is always the same distance away from the batter, and hockey
rinks are all the same size every time, however in golf ever course is different and you don t get a
home field advantage like you do in other sports you have to be prepared for everything. This is
why I consider golf to be the world s hardest sport because there are no teammates it s just up to
you and your caddy, you have to be great at every aspect of the game if you want to be successful
on the PGA tour, and finally ever course is different and you have to be able to make adjustments
from course to course in order to succeed. I believe I am able to make this claim because I have an
abundance of experience from playing nearly every sport in my childhood. I earned three varsity
letters in high school and competed at a varsity level for four years in golf, lacrosse, and cross

Helen Keller once said, Although the world is full of suffering, it is also about overcoming it.
Helen Keller faced a lot of adversity and obstacles in her life. But she got through it. Everyone

homes everytime the harvest ends. This leads him to not having many friendships, missing school
very often, and not always having the greatest sleeping quarters. The shed they were given at the
new place wasn t great, but it was something, and they were grateful for it. When Panchitos
parents finally agreed that he could go to school again, he was very happy. At this new school he

people to do the work. Following that, not only did panchito show remarkable characteristics, his
family did as well. Once Panchitos mom found a landowner willing to take them in, she was so
grateful. The shelter they were given was a garage with termite ridden walls and a dirt floor, but

Racism In Friday Night Lights
Racism was a consistent theme throughout the entirety of Friday Night Lights (2015) and was
intertwined with many of the issues and concepts discussed here. Odessa held onto its racial
ideologies for much longer than it should have, even with Federal lawsuits against them
(Bissinger, 2015; pg. 107 Coakley, 2015; pg. 227). These beliefs were deeply held and acted
upon that they still were intact even after the desegregation of the schools. The Southside of
Odessa had been and continued to be classified as the low income and minority side of town
where the blacks and Hispanics lived, while the East side was for the wealthy and white citizens.
The railroad tracks that ran through the heart of town served as the divider for this segregation,
or as Lanita Akins called it: The American version of the Berlin Wall (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 99).
The physical separation wasn t the only racial issue that Odessa had. Blacks and Hispanics were
both quite underrepresented in Permian High, only making up about 31% of the student body
(Bissinger, 2015; pg. 175). The black population of Odessa seemed to get the blunt end of the
racial stigma though, which is especially seen at the beginning of chapter 5 with the use and
explanation of why some Odessans used the word... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was also common for Texas high school football as a whole. These behaviors were seen both off
and on the field and included extreme play against the opposing team, drinking, drug use, fighting,
hubris, and institutional corruption (Bissinger, 2015 Coakley, 2015). Off field behavior included
mainly drinking and getting into fights, though the citizens of Odessa even went as far as shooting
a gun inside a bar at one point. The player s drinking had become bad enough that an anonymous
letter frowning upon that behavior found its way into their lockers while they were in the playoffs

Analysis Of John Perry s Hayek Argument

Perry Burnett
Hayek Philosophical Argument In Hayek s argument, he explains how socialism s centralized
planning is an exponentially inferior economic policy compared to the competitive nature of
democracy due to the restrictions government planning imposes on a population s ability to choose.
He also expresses concern over similarities between the attitude of United States population and
socialist Germany regarding our growing desire to organize and plan everything, noting that we are
headed in the same general direction as pre fascist Germany. His argument has the intention of
convincing people to stray from this path of organizing the economy and instead to simply let the

Whenever they realize that having leaders with total power is convenient, it s a slippery slope to
totalitarianism. Totalitarianism with a group of leaders under the chief of command who, by the
nature of society, are unavoidably the worst pick of the lot. This is due to needing a hive mind,
which is most easily found among the lower intellectuals, as well as people who have no strong
ideals and who are easily persuaded. This similar mindset, for this system to work, has to be
accepted by the public as well. The individuals of the public are also apt to be treated without
common decency, the leaders justifying their actions by claiming it is for the good of society.
Without Rule of Law, there s nothing keeping this governmentin check either. Those who are
desperate to avoid fascism, and want to do so by organizing an economy and socializing it, will see
that the fruits of their labor have produced the exact effect they wanted to evade. He goes on to
explain that the economy of a nation is extremely too complicated to be controlled and directed by
a government. There are too many minute details that make up the economy as a whole to be
effectively and consciously planned. This is how competition is the better alternative. Individuals of
a society, left to their own designs, can each be a small director of the economy. Never having
enough power to take over another citizen s life, but each playing a small part in making such a
sophisticated system work. He

This power helped white families considerably in gaining ownership of houses, but severely
crippled home ownership ability for African Americanfamilies. The role of the HOLC was to
provide low interest loans and refinance homes to prevent foreclosure; the role of the FHA was
to guarantee mortgages from default. Both of these organizations worked to minimize the risk
of home loans for banks, making it easier for families to obtain loans and mortgages to buy
homes. This resulted in an explosion of home ownership from the 1930 s to the 1960 s, In 1930,
only 30 percent of Americans owned their homes; by 1960, more than 60 percent were home
owners. The effect of these policies may have afforded an array of opportunities to white
Americans, but they had a very different effect on the African American population. The
establishment of these policies contributed to a state of unequal and segregated housing among
African Americans and whites referred to as the dual housing market. In a dual housing market,
the price of any given home was assigned two separate prices depending on the race of the buyer.
White families were being given substantially lower prices and more options by realtors for homes
than African American families were. Realtors were at the root of this problem, Chicago s realtors
were thus instrumental in the creation of a dual housing market both locally and nationally that is,
a white market of low

Structure and Narrative Technique in Wurthering Heights ...
Thomas Hardy employs an `omniscient narrator in his rural novel `Return of the Native , as he
attempts to mimic classical tragedy by uniting the essential elements of time, place and action. The
fact that the novel was originally intended to be of a five book structure, with monthly instalments,
ending with a final, devastating climax, coupled with the numerous classical references to Hades.
Hercules and Prometheus , shows even further Hardy s desire to create an immensely tragic novel,
void of a desire to please societies middle class novel reading public. Although it was to be this

One insistent feature of his language in the initial chapters, is the frequent use of guesswork; I
suppose , perhaps and I conjectured. The effect of this style is to focus our attention on the
narration itself, as Lockwood struggles to translate his impressions for us. Bront #235;s use of
repeated guesswork and hesitancy allows us to remember that the novel is being relayed to us by a
struggling, foreign observer. Due to this uncertainty, only a small portion of the story filters through
to the reader, and we may expect that the effect of the narrative is rather economical. `Nicolas Marsh
however argues differently in his essay `Analysing Wuthering Heights , as he claims that this lack
of information paradoxically has the opposite effect, and that it creates an unlimited, obscured
environment for the story itself to be encompassed within.
Nelly s language, on the other hand, can be vividly descriptive, as when she describes Cathy on
the moors musing over a bit of moss, or a tuft of branched grass, or a fungus spreading its bright
orange among the heaps of brown foliage. Sometimes her language is not unlike Lockwood s, as
she claims Heathcliff s naturally reserved disposition was exaggerated into an almost idiotic excess
of unsociable moroseness. However, once again the narrator s character interferes

Christian Symbolism and Chivalric Ideals in Sir Gawain and...
Upon first Reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I noticed that it comes off as a romantic
normative poem about chivalric ideals and traditions of the ruling class with covertly Christian
Images. The protagonist character Sir Gawain stands out as the role model of the chivalric ideals of
the 14th century while displaying Christian images on his armor. The combination of Gawain s
armor and actions throughout the poem exemplify his characteristics of Christian perfection and
chivalric ideals. The very first scene with Bertilak of Hautdesert known as the Green Knight begins
to mold your perception of how chivalrous Sir Gawain is by portraying him as valiant, humble, and
virtuous knight to Arthur. I felt that the interruption of Arthur... Show more content on

Even the armor without the pentangle had a religious importance in medieval literature because
to be adorned in armor was to be strengthened in the lord, in the might of his power ... [and with]
the armor of God that you may be able to stand against the deceits of the devil (Green 126),
which comes into play when Bertilak s wife tries to seduce Gawain. In this instance Bertilak is
representative of the devil and he is using his wife to test Gawain to see if he would commit
sodomy and break his religious and knightly code. This scene is extremely important since he has
been divested of his armor, relived of his helmet, horse and his coat (Ashton 60), basically
everything physical that reminds him of his faith. However, even without his armor being a
constant reminder of his faith and honor he proves he is truly faithful and chivalrous by turning
down Bertilak s wife. To get a better understanding of the meaning and importance of the pentangle
we must analyze the author s description of the meaning of it or lack thereof. The author does give
examples of the meanings of the symbol being explained as Gawain being faithful in five ways
which he describes. However, the author doesn t tell us what he means when he talks about the

Stoics And Aquinas
Throughout the many arguments regarding the relationship between the virtuous man and passions
discussed by St. Thomas Aquinas, one argument, in particular, stands out for its agreement with the
philosophical view of the Stoics. While Aquinas is a prominent Catholic philosopher and theologian
known for his argumentative style of defending and teaching Catholic doctrine as well as providing
insightful and compelling outlooks regarding ethical matters, the Stoics are known for their staunch
and what can be perceived as restrictive views on emotions, passions, and matters of the same
nature. Despite their different views, the Stoics and Aquinas are in agreement that the virtuous man

Aquinas identifies the virtuous man as the one who really lives out his function and acts in accord
with reason, but even desires in accord with reason. Both the Stoics and Aquinas would agree that
the virtuous man has the virtues; temperance, fortitude, courage, and justice which are all properly
ordered with his reason. When reason is removed or blurred the virtuosity of the person is called
into question. Virtue cannot be fulfilled without reason, and vice versa, however the one factor that
can alter or affect reason, is passion. The Stoics characterized passion as any emotions in disaccord
with or exceed reason and Aquinas defined passions as any movement from the sense appetite.
Aquinas believes that if all passions belong to the sense appetite, then passions can be moderated
and perfected by reason. These two varying definitions of passion show the rigidity of the Stoic
view by portraying the virtuous man as the passionless man, which by default means the virtuous
man lacks antecedent passions. Aquinas would disagree that the virtuous lacks passion but, he
would state that passions can perhaps negatively affect the judgement of reason. Nonetheless both
he and the Stoics agreed that the virtuous man lacks what are called antecedent passions.
Antecedent passions according to Aquinas, obscure the judgement of reason, on which the
goodness of the moral act depends, they diminish the goodness of the act. In other words antecedent
passions

Why We Should Have Sports In College
Sports play a huge role in our lives. Everyone enjoys a sport in their own different ways: some do
sports and others are just happy to watch it. Giving students opportunity to be part of sports in
college will definitely have positive sides on college as well as on students. As an example, we
can see how top colleges like Harvard or Stanford recruit young athletes. At the end, those athletes
are making names for the schools. However, in our collegesituation is totally different. Even if we
have established sports, they are not aimed to improve our college. However, we can reconstruct
athletics of our school, and it will positively affect students, college, and it s budget. It is not rare
that people become very successful thanks to sports.

The Importance Of Ethical Business Is Not New
The importance of ethical business is not new. Every long term successful business has clearly
understood the need for ethical business practices. There are lessons to be learned, both positive
and negative, from businesses around the world. CEOs must work hard to find a balance between
profits and public image by learning from history, understanding the evolution of business ethics,
and understanding the social responsibility of businesses.
CEOs in the business world today are in a precarious position. They are accountable to
shareholders to keep profits high while avoiding any scandal or implication of shady dealings.
CEOs are also accountable to stakeholders to ensure business practices are acceptable for all
parties. Stakeholders are those that are required to keep an organization functioning, such as
employees and customers. It is the responsibility of top leadership to ensure the success or failure
of the organization is not solely judged by profit margins. Leadership must provide stakeholders
with a road map for the organization. Individual and organizational character is strengthened if the
mission of an organization is clear, if workers have maximum opportunity for growth, and if the
larger social conditions allow corporations to thrive without resorting to underhanded tactics (Terris,
2005). If an organization puts employees and customers ahead of shareholders, the organization can
be more successful in the long run. Employees that feel wanted and

The GPS technology is used widely in climate studies such as earthquake research and accurate
daily weather forecasts.
Corporate companies are using the GPS technology as a useful tool to monitor employee
productivity by keeping record of their clocking times , frequency and duration of lunch breaks.
Commercial airplanes and cargo ships have more accurate readings that help them avoid disasters
and ensures that they can be traced should they get lost at sea.
The commercialisation of the GPS technology has led to the development of hand held GPS
navigation devices that are used for recreational activities such as hiking and outdoor treasure
hunting.
4.2 Disadvantages
One of the greatest disadvantage of the GPS technology is that it relies completely on receiving
satellite signals, so it s prone to radio interference and nuclear weapons.
Another issue is accuracy in terms of updating the navigation system, for example, drivers using the

The Importance Of Athletic Training

Bad Effects Of Dehorning Rhinos
Imagine you re an animal, careless and free, your only worries being survival. Now imagine a
foreign creature ripping off a part of you, leaving you to die. Thats whats happening to rhinos.
Rhinos are getting poached for their horns, and conservationists are starting to remove their horns,
so they don t get poached in the first place. Rhinos being dehorned is not good thing because
poachers still attempt to get the remaining horn, it affects the rhinos long term wellbeing, and rhino
owners who then receive the horns for safekeeping may get robbed. All of these limit a rhino s
survival and social status with other rhinos and such. Dehorning rhinos is not a great idea because
poachers attempt to get the growth plate, it affects their long term wellbeing, and rhino owners can
get robbed.
First of all, dehorning rhinos is not a good idea because poachers will still attempt to get the
growth plate. In order to not harm the rhino when cutting of the horn, you must leave the growth
plate so the horn can grow back later. It is because of this chunk that is still left inside the rhinos
head that poachers will still attempt to kill and take whatever they can get of the rhinos horn. says
Youth 4 African Wildlife (a conservation group). Rhinos will still end up dying... Show more

When considering the choice of dehorning rhinos, the choice should definitely be to not dehorn
them. Dehorning rhinos can get people robbed, can damage rhinos physically, may ruin
relations with other rhinos and make it more difficult for rhinos to survive and get used to living
without a horn. Our world is suffering enough, let us rest a little easier by letting these precious
animals live the way they should live, in their rightful bodies. There s a reason they were born
with horns. If we were in their places, out in the wild, we wouldn t want our body to be torn into
pieces just for a piece of

Real Estate Market Analysis
Ch.1. Real estate space and asset markets.
Space market ( the market for the usage of (or right to use) real property (land and built space);
also referred to as the real estate usage market or rental market. Demand side: individuals,
households and firms that want to use space for either consumption of production purposes. Supply
side: real estate owners who rent space to tenants. 1. Segmentation of space markets.
Both the demand and supply side are location and type specific. Therefore, real estate markets are
highly segmented ( Space markets are local rather than national, and specialized around building

The southeast quadrant links the rate of construction to the total stock of built space available in the
usage market. The line relates the average rate of space construction per year to the total stock of
space that can be indefinitely maintained in the market.
On average over the long run, a certain amount of new construction per year is necessary just to
maintain a given stock of space available in the market.
The 4Q picture depicts a long run steady state equilibrium.
Property prices in the real estate asset markets, along with liquidity and volume of sales
transactions in that market, often appear to go through extended periods of rise and fall, related to
the ups and downs in the space market.
Chapter 6: Real Estate Market Analysis.
Objective:
The goal of market analysis is to characterize (both qualitative and quantitative) the supply and
demand of a specific space market.
6.1General Features.
Practical market analysis needs to be simple and based upon realistic data so that it can be used
quickly and inexpensively. Also, this way it can be easily communicated and understood in
business. Thus, most analysis stems from direct and common sense procedures. There are
different kinds of analysis; whereas some market analysis focuses on specific micro level
decisions, others focus on a broader and more general characterization of a broader market. The
first type focuses mainly on

Community based Corrections
Another tool used to help with the overcrowding issue facing prisons and jails is the court s
utilization of community based corrections. This type of sentencing is utilized for lesser
offenses when a judge feels that an offender may not warrant prison or jail time. One popular
tool within community based corrections is electronic incarceration, also referred to as house
arrest (Schmallager, 2011). The offender is fitted with an electronic device, usually around the
ankle. The device sends a signal to officials monitoring the offender if they violate the electronic
radius that the device is programmed to (Schmallager, 2011). This is a good way to incarcerate an
offender while not adding to the overcrowding of the jails and prisons. Two other community based
corrections programs are probation and parole.
Probation and Parole
Some offenders are sentenced to parole instead of being sentenced to jail or prison. The goal of
probation is maintain some type of control and supervision over criminal offenders while
rehabilitating them through community programs (Schmallager, 2011). As was stated before,
some offenders are sentenced to parole instead of being sentenced to jail or prison. However, in the
majority of cases, offenders are in fact sentenced to a jail or prison sentence only to have that
sentence suspended and then placed on probation (Schmallager, 2011). There are certain conditions
that

Ground left without vegetation on it over the winter months is susceptible to nitrogen leaching. As a result, ploughing to a depth of 22cm, rotovation and bed formation occur in spring to produce a fine seedbed. Potatoes are then sown 10 cm below the ridge by hand. I learned from talking to the farmer that the seeds should be spaced 20 25cm apart to help with individual growth of the plant. The farmer then applies a compound fertilizer such as 10 10 20 to their potato crop before planting the seed. This is done by broadcasting the fertilizer and then incorporating it into the soil in one of the final cultivations. Weed control: Once 15 to 20 per cent of the potato plants have emerged after sowing the potato crop is sprayed with an herbicide. The Cairnholm Island itself only had one phone and was powered with generators that shut off at 10 pm everyday, foreshadowing the fact that Jacob would go back in time later on. The peculiar children all lived with Miss Peregrine in a time loop , created by Miss Peregrine herself. Because of this, the children didn t age; everyday they repeated September 3rd, 1940 over and over again. For seventy years they had stayed on that day, although their experience of it is continuous, thus they were able to remember what they did yesterday, although other things remained the same. I m sure many of you start picturing football, baseball, maybe even hockey, but how many of you would ever consider golf to be the hardest sport? Unlike the three sports mentioned above in golf you don t have any teammates to help you out if you re have a bad game. In golfyou have to be good at all aspects of the game in order to be successful unlike in football, baseball, and hockey where you can still be successful by only mastering one position. In football every football field measures the same size, in baseball the pitcher is always the same distance away from the batter, and hockey rinks are all the same size every time, however in golf ever course is different and you don t get a home field advantage like you do in other sports you have to be prepared for everything. This is why I consider golf to be the world s hardest sport because there are no teammates it s just up to you and your caddy, you have to be great at every aspect of the game if you want to be successful on the PGA tour, and finally ever course is different and you have to be able to make adjustments from course to course in order to succeed. Odessa held onto its racial ideologies for much longer than it should have, even with Federal lawsuits against them (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 107 Coakley, 2015; pg. 227). These beliefs were deeply held and acted upon that they still were intact even after the desegregation of the schools. The Southside of Odessa had been and continued to be classified as the low income and minority side of town where the blacks and Hispanics lived, while the East side was for the wealthy and white citizens. The railroad tracks that ran through the heart of town served as the divider for this segregation, or as Lanita Akins called it: The American version of the Berlin Wall (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 99). The physical separation wasn t the only racial issue that Odessa had. Blacks and Hispanics were both quite underrepresented in Permian High, only making up about 31% of the student body (Bissinger, 2015; pg. 175). He also expresses concern over similarities between the attitude of United States population and socialist Germany regarding our growing desire to organize and plan everything, noting that we are headed in the same general direction as pre fascist Germany. Whenever they realize that having leaders with total power is convenient, it s a slippery slope to totalitarianism. Totalitarianism with a group of leaders under the chief of command who, by the nature of society, are unavoidably the worst pick of the lot. This is due to needing a hive mind, which is most easily found among the lower intellectuals, as well as people who have no strong ideals and who are easily persuaded. This similar mindset, for this system to work, has to be accepted by the public as well. The individuals of the public are also apt to be treated without common decency, the leaders justifying their actions by claiming it is for the good of society. Without Rule of Law, there s nothing keeping this governmentin check either. Those who are desperate to avoid fascism, and want to do so by organizing an economy and socializing it, will see that the fruits of their labor have produced the exact effect they wanted to evade. He goes on to explain that the economy of a nation is extremely too complicated to be controlled and directed by a government. There are too many minute details that make up the economy as a whole to be effectively and consciously planned. This is how competition is the better alternative. This power helped white families considerably in gaining ownership of houses, but severely crippled home ownership ability for African Americanfamilies. The role of the HOLC was to provide low interest loans and refinance homes to prevent foreclosure; the role of the FHA was to guarantee mortgages from default. Both of these organizations worked to minimize the risk of home loans for banks, making it easier for families to obtain loans and mortgages to buy homes. This resulted in an explosion of home ownership from the 1930 s to the 1960 s, In 1930, only 30 percent of Americans owned their homes; by 1960, more than 60 percent were home owners. The effect of these policies may have afforded an array of opportunities to white Americans, but they had a very different effect on the African American population. The establishment of these policies contributed to a state of unequal and segregated housing among African Americans and whites referred to as the dual housing market. In a dual housing market, the price of any given home was assigned two separate prices depending on the race of the buyer. White families were being given substantially lower prices and more options by realtors for homes than African American families were. Realtors were at the root of this problem, Chicago s realtors were thus instrumental in the creation of a dual housing market both locally and nationally that is, a white market of low ... Thomas Hardy employs an `omniscient narrator in his rural novel `Return of the Native , as he attempts to mimic classical tragedy by uniting the essential elements of time, place and action. The effect of this style is to focus our attention on the narration itself, as Lockwood struggles to translate his impressions for us. Bront #235;s use of repeated guesswork and hesitancy allows us to remember that the novel is being relayed to us by a struggling, foreign observer. Due to this uncertainty, only a small portion of the story filters through to the reader, and we may expect that the effect of the narrative is rather economical. `Nicolas Marsh however argues differently in his essay `Analysing Wuthering Heights , as he claims that this lack of information paradoxically has the opposite effect, and that it creates an unlimited, obscured environment for the story itself to be encompassed within. Nelly s language, on the other hand, can be vividly descriptive, as when she describes Cathy on the moors musing over a bit of moss, or a tuft of branched grass, or a fungus spreading its bright orange among the heaps of brown foliage. The combination of Gawain s armor and actions throughout the poem exemplify his characteristics of Christian perfection and chivalric ideals. Aquinas identifies the virtuous man as the one who really lives out his function and acts in accord with reason, but even desires in accord with reason. Both the Stoics and Aquinas would agree that the virtuous man has the virtues; temperance, fortitude, courage, and justice which are all properly ordered with his reason. When reason is removed or blurred the virtuosity of the person is called into question. Virtue cannot be fulfilled without reason, and vice versa, however the one factor that can alter or affect reason, is passion. The Stoics characterized passion as any emotions in disaccord with or exceed reason and Aquinas defined passions as any movement from the sense appetite. Aquinas believes that if all passions belong to the sense appetite, then passions can be moderated and perfected by reason. These two varying definitions of passion show the rigidity of the Stoic view by portraying the virtuous man as the passionless man, which by default means the virtuous man lacks antecedent passions. Aquinas would disagree that the virtuous lacks passion but, he would state that passions can perhaps negatively affect the judgement of reason. It is the responsibility of top leadership to ensure the success or failure of the organization is not solely judged by profit margins.
