How Does Shakespeare Create Tension In Romeo And Juliet
A pair of star cross d lovers in the classic tale Romeo and Juliet, is written by the famous
playwright William Shakespeare. In the midst of the Capulet and Montague s ancient grudge and
hatred for one another, Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague are confronted with a forbidden lust
separated by their family s feud. The story explores love, hatred, death and forgiveness, depicted
through the stylistic features that Shakespeare employs to portray tension between the Montague
and Capulet families. The tale of Romeo and Juliet sees their love trial among an endless brawl of
hatred with many consequences. The opening scene introduces conflict between the two families
through their slave s dialogue, I will bite my thumb at them, which is a disgrace. Shakespeare
already establishes within the first scene the hatred that both families have for each other that even
their help and staff cannot stand one another. Furthermore Shakespeare uses setting to convey the
particular hatred Tybalt has for Romeo when he crashes the Capulet s party. Such a villain is a
guest, I will not endure him. As well as further demonstrates the bad terms both families are on....

Shakespeare ironically sets the setting of their blossom of love at the Capulet s party, a place
where if Romeo is seen, they will murder thee , in order to show his sacrifice for their love.
Contrary in Juliet s soliloquy she begs Romeo to deny thy father and refuse thy name.
Shakespeare explains that if it was not for Juliet being a Capulet and similarly, Romeo a
Montague, there love would be free to flourish. On the flip side it also shows the tension between
families for their love must be kept secret. A plague o both your houses foreshadows bad things to
come of Romeos love with Juliet in the future that will see both fighting families suffer great loss.
With love and hate battling through the story the only resolution can be

Digging
Seamus Heaney was born on April 13, 1939, on a farm in Castledawson,
County Derry, Northern Ireland, the eldest of eight children. In 1963, he began teaching at St.
Joseph s College in Belfast.
The first poem I ll be looking at is digging it was written in
1966.
The poem consists of 9 stanzas that vary between two lines and five lines in length. There is no
pattern to the stanzas, perhaps to reflect the idea that there is no pattern or predictability to our
memories. In the poem there is quite a variation in the language e.g. the title is blunt. It is only
when we have read the poem carefully that we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was also proud of his grandfather, who was so keen to work that he hardly stopped when
Heaney brought him some milk. To drink it, and then fell to right away this show how hard he
worked. His work was precise nicking and slicing neatly and he was strong heaving sods over his
shoulder.
Heaney does not explain exactly why he has no spade to follow men like them . Does he think he
is not physically strong enough for the work? Or does he think his father and grandfather may not
approve of him cultivating the land.
There is quite a lot of alliteration in digging e.g. curd cuts digging down and down and the
squelch and slap of soggy peat this gives the poem life it makes it more interesting to read. The
opening simile is striking Heaney s pen is snug as a gun . It shows how perfectly the pen fits his
hand, this shows how well suited Heaney is to write. (In the fourth stanza, Heaney describes how
perfectly his father s body is in tune with the spade, showing how well suited he is to dig.) The
gun image also suggests the strength of the pen, it is a weapon for writing.
There is a writing technique called enjambment which means lines in a poem that run on from on to
another without a punctuation or pause.
There is an example of this between the second and third stanza. My father, digging.
I look down Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds Bends low, comes up twenty years away,

Introduction to Optical Coherence Tomography
Introduction to Optical Coherence Tomography
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a method of imaging which uses near infrared or optical
light scattering to produce three dimensional images of a medium. Medical applications are of
particular interest, since OCT allows retinal and other tissues to be imaged with high resolution.
I. Introduction
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a method of imaging which uses near infrared or optical
light scattering to produce three dimensional images of a medium. In particular, this paper will
focus on the application of OCT to medical imaging. Like most radar imaging, an OCT device
emits EM radiation and constructs an image based on the light reflected back from an object.
However, OCT differs from traditional radar in several important ways. First, because OCT uses a
much shorter wavelength of light than radio frequency radar, OCT emissions only propagate
about 1 mm into biological tissues. This limits the possible images from OCT as compared to
MRI or CT scans, so OCT is only appropriate for some specific types of medical imaging, such as
retinal scans. The benefit of using a shorter wavelength is an increase in imaging resolution. A
typical OCT image has a resolution of 10 20 Вµm. At this resolution very small biological
structures are easily resolved and can be analyzed.
Second, OCT requires that returning radiation be collected from many different angles. Traditional
radar imaging is collected from one, or at most

Race Issues from 1877 to Present

Race issues from 1877 to present There are five themes that persist throughout American history.
The five themes are mission, manifest destiny, industrialization, imperialism, and race. Racism has
been an issue throughout American history. Only in recent years has the problem been resolved,
but even now there is still some issues. Some private groups are still against some races. Even
though slavery was abolished in 1865 by the thirteenth amendment, it declared that Neither slavery

convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. [1] ... Show

He delivered the famous I Have a Dream speech in which he expanded American values to
include the vision of a color blind society, and established his reputation as one of the greatest
orators in American history. He was then assassinated on April 4, 1968 in which is now a
holiday to where he will always be remembered for his great deeds in solving equality between
the blacks and whites. The Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 prohibited segregation and
discrimination in employment and other areas. The racism issues during this period of time,
caused lots of hate and crime. Fortunately during this period of time, slavery had already been
abolished but it took many years to completely have equal rights for all races. Organizations
have formed for anti racist and civil rights activism such as the NAACP, National Association of
the Advancement of Colored People, and other groups as well. Since America has the right of
freedom of speech, groups that are racist are allowed but if they involve any violence they will be
prosecuted for their actions. Throughout the years we have had more African Americans running
for governor, congress, and even President. In 1989 L. Douglas Wilder became the first black
elected governor. Our President now, Barack Obama, is our 44th president and our first African
American to hold the office. This shows that times have definitely changed throughout the years. To
this day we still have groups such as the Ku Klux

Advantages And Differences Of Online Shopping Vs. Shopping
Nowadays, internet is so popular, worldwide and updated. Many things changed by time and some
people seems to be very on time but it is undying, there is also some people who stay on the same

the best option is by shopping online as we do save money by saving the fuel. This is because we
can just search any product from any branded company by clicking the search key. It is also
operational for 24 hours everyday. So we do not need to wait for a long time just to buy goods. That
is a very time saving . Next, shopping online is also saving the energy as we do not have to walk
from one shop to another shop to buy a suitable good as we can just choose any popular shopping
website. Pricing is the most important factors in this business. Some business may sell the same
goods with the same quality by different prices, so we as the costumer get to easily compare the
prices. All we to do is to open the website and compare the price from one online shopping to
another website to find the cheapest

Reproductive Rights Legislation
In life, there will be difficult decisions that a woman must make, sometimes this includes issues
such as pregnancy and abortion. Originally thought to be a place for a woman and her doctor,
politics has found a way to intervene. This is reproductive rights legislation, in which there are rules
concerning abortionand often barriers such as a wait time and mandatory delays. I will be
discussing the history of reproductive rights legislation. The aspect of reproductive rights
legislation in particular I will be exploring is abortion. I will highlight why abortion is important
to society and discuss my personal opinion of why I am passionate about this issue. I will delve

There is pro choice and pro life. Pro life considers abortion unethical while pro choice considers it
to be ethical. Some reasons why it would be labeled unethical is because one may tie their
religion to their ethical standpoint and examine the potential life that a woman is carrying to be
pure and destined for greatness. They may argue that by having an abortion, one is taking away
from the world a potential Ghandi or scientist that may be able to someday create the cure for
cancer. They may reason that by having sex, a woman is already obliged to have a child if she
becomes pregnant and having an abortion is considered to be running away from responsibility.
They may also believe that by having an abortion, one is committing murder. On the other hand,
there are people who consider abortion to be ethical because they reason that regardless of the
potential life, it is a woman s body, future, and ultimately, her choice. They may also reason that a
woman should not have the weight of feeling the obligation to have a child because it is her
decision to mold out her own future and not have roles imposed on her by society. They may also
argue that a fetus is not in fact a full human yet; therefore, does not have a conscious and is

Analysis Of The Book Kamo No Chomei
Kamo No Chomei as opposed to Genji went out into seclusion on his own account, Genji was
exiled from the capital and went into seclusion to Suma, although he had a few servants he
imagines himself in solitude. In An Account of a Ten Foot Square Hut, the writer is basically
revealing that peace can be found in beauty, and beauty is found within the soul. Sometimes the
way of civilization(worry about reputation, ranking of social status, politics, love affairs, etc.)
interferes in finding spiritual peace. However, Genji was a man in love with beauty and the arts,
but he was never at peace with himself. He needed the company of other, specially the company
of beautiful women. He might have appeared self centered, selfish, and arrogant at first, but after
reading Chomei s story, one can see the good side of Genji s persona. Kamo No Chomei, An
Account of a Ten Foot Square Hut , recounts his life experience as a Buddhist in seclusion in the
depths of Mount Ohara, moreover in his late years move deeper in the depths of Mount Hino.
Kamo No Chomei went in seclusion escaping the horrors of the city capital. Chomei view the world
as beautiful yet perilous, hence he perceived life itself as difficult, especially city life. In his life,
he witnessed the worst the world can throw at you when nature rebels against it. He witnessed
hunger and deaths by the thousands as consequence from fires, storm winds, earthquakes, sickness,
and epidemics. People, wealthy and poor, ran out

Raising The Minimum Wage Of The United States
Raise the minimum wage: In the United States, studies show that women tend to make up a
disproportionate share of low wage workers. In the field of education, men tends to go more to
STEM than women and that also leads to high paying jobs for men. If we raise the minimum wage,
this will help hardworking women to support their families. Approximately, women made up two
thirds of all minimum wageworkers in 2012. With the current federal minimum wagei.e. $7.25 per
hour, someone working full time, only earn $15,080 a year round. People working full time with
minimum wage is still below the povertythreshold for any family with children and single person
is also not far above the poverty line. So, increasing the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour
would help increase the wages for about 15 million women, which will help close the gender wage
gap.
Raise the tipped minimum wage: The gender wage gap is vividly observed in tipped workers.
The federal tipped minimum wage, which hasn t been changed since 1991, only pays workers
$2.13 per hour. According to the Economic Policy Institute, women make up two thirds of tipped
workers and are 70 percent of food servers and bartenders, occupations that comprise more than
half of the tipped workforce. Tipped workers have a higher poverty rate than non tipped workers,
and 46 percent rely on government assistance to make ends meet.
As women account for two thirds of tipped workers, raising tipped minimum wage will help
decreasing the

The Paradigm Shift in Consumption
The Paradigm Shift in Consumption: The New Food Equation Consumer behaviors are
constantly changing, as can be seen with the recent trends of obesity in the global north and
hunger and malnutrition in the global south. Understanding global food systems is very
important as it helps explain opportunities and well as problems that exist in the current global
food system. In 1950 s and 60 s an industrial food formula, was created in order to take strides
towards delivering ample, affordable, healthy and safe food in the global North (Roberts, 2013).
This Industrial formula has not lived up to its standards however and has caused some
disappointment. As new generations emerge, so do aspirations that food should taste real,
provide fulfilling careers, support health, contribute to local communities, honor the
environment and enhance global sustainability (Roberts, 2013: 11). This new trend has been
termed the New Food Equation by Kevin Morgan and is a way to present the food problem as a
challenge and urge people to solve the problem by making good food choices (Rogers, 2013).
They are multiple pillars to implementing this new food movement, but food sovereignty and
organic foods are the area of focus today. Members of La Via Campania coined the term food
sovereignty. This was an organization formed in 1992 that represents some 200 million peasants,
small farmers, agricultural workers and indigenous people from seventy different countries (Rogers,
2013: 88). They

Sonny s Blues By James Baldwin Essay
Sonny s Blues is a narration about two siblings brothers who choose very different routes in life
in order to accomplish the zenith of individualism, expressionism and recognition. In doing so,
they take a glimpse into one another s spheres and learn to assent and appreciate each other for
who they are. In 1951, Baldwin wrote Sonny s Blues, a story of the ills that Harlem provided its
youth. In Baldwin s telling of the narration, it forms a nous of liberation, an atmosphere of
therapeutic acceptance for the author, in which Baldwin develops to express his own state through
his virtuoso of storytelling. To put it inanely, Baldwin has such a fine grasp of the linguistic and
such great urge to interpret that he can move even his stoutest detractors to emotion and response.
Walter Dean Myers (2014), a famous New York Times journalist wrote that ...I read a story by
James Baldwin: Sonny s Blues. I didn t love the story, but I was lifted by it, for it took place in
Harlem, and it was a story concerned with black people like those I knew. By humanizing the
people who were like me, Baldwin s story also humanized me. The story gave me a permission
that I didn t know I needed, the permission to write about my own landscape, my own map. It

Analysis Of The Book American Psycho By Bret Easton Ellis
American Psycho is a novel written by Bret Easton Ellis in 1991. The book details the life and
subsequent descent into madness of yuppie investment banker Patrick Bateman. Bateman appears
to everyone as charming young man but is also possibly one of the most vicious serial killers in
American history (whether Bateman committed the murders is left ambiguous). It takes place at
the height of the Reagan era in Manhattan and is primarily a critique of the vapid and capitalist
society that Bateman resides in. Ellis criticizes various aspects of American culture through both the
actions and thoughts of Patrick Batemanand those around him. Bateman acts as symbol of the
death of ones humanity that occurs in a superficial and nihilistic post modern society. The things
that are critiqued the most in this novel are materialism, conformity, superficiality, and the
depravity of man.One of the most prevalent aspects of society criticized by this novel is the
depravity of man. Ellis portrays American society as a place rife with violence and horror yet is
also desensitized to it. For example this is summarized perfectly on page 4 when Timothy Price
(a friend of Bateman) looks through a newspaper and says the following: In one issue in One

subway, a Communist rally, Mafia boss wiped out, Nazis he flips through the pages excitedly

Mmr Vaccine To Autism
There have been several studies linking the MMR vaccine to Autism. From what I have read, it
seems that the MMR vaccine has not had anything to do with Autism. The major study that we are
writing about is what Andrew Wakefield and his twelve colleagues published in the journal, Lancet.
During this study, Andrew Wakefield and the 12 co authors suggest that the MMR vaccine
may
predispose to behavioral regression and pervasive developmental disorder in children (NCBI, 2011).
Because of Doctor Wakefield and his colleagues, the MMR vaccine numbers began to plummet.
They started to plummet because parents were concerned about their children and did not want this
vaccination to cause their children to develop Autism. Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder
of children, characterized by impaired communication, excessive rigidity, and emotional
detachment: now considered one of the autism spectrum disorders (Dictionary.com). And MMR
Vaccine is the immunization vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella or also known as a
German measles. Many people thought that the MMR vaccine leads to autism because, the MMR
vaccine is given to children early on in their childhood, and so is the diagnosis of Autism. This
made people think that the two were related somehow.
After the study by Andrew Wakefield, epidemiological studies were conducted and published,
stating the opposite of what Doctor Wakefield and his colleagues stated. During the time this
paper was written, about 90 percent of children in England received MMR vaccine (Children s
Hospital of Philadelphia, 2014). Children are given the MMR vaccine around the same time that
they are diagnosed with Autism, and Doctor Wakefield used that to his advantage. It was also
stated, it would be expected that most children with autism would have received an MMR vaccine
(Children s Hospital of Philadelphia, 2014). Doctor Wakefield and his twelve colleagues picked
what information they chose to use. They also chose information that would also falsify facts to
their benefit as well (NCBI, 2011). Their study was one sided, which made their paper seem correct
and influenced parents to withhold their children from getting vaccinated. The study that Doctor
Wakefield and his

Iep Meeting Impacts Student Learning Essay
Performance Activity 25: Attending an IEP meeting impacts student learning by how the IEP team
evaluates and determine a student s goals, accommodations, modifications, and which RTI tier the
student will be in. Discussing a student s IEP goals are designed to help the student improve on
areas of improvement and to become successful. The impact on studentlearning when designing
goals is to allow the student to be able to meet their goal and is centered around their needs.
Discussing accommodations and modifications impacts student learning by the type and how
many services the student receives. The type of service/s a student receives impacts how the
student will meet or not meet their IEP goals and impact if student learning is evident. If the IEP
team did not set accommodations and modification services, a student could fall behind, struggle

Comparing The Contributions Of Andrew Jackson And John Ross
In this situation I do not believe that there is a hero. As the first article states, there are two sides
to every story, and as it also states there are few saints in this tale. Despite Andrew Jackson s
positive contributions, such as insuring that Cherokees were given equal pay, he still
massacred thousands of Native Americans. He signed the Indian Removal Act, which prompted
the Trail of Tears, one of the darkest events in American History in which 13,000 Cherokees were
forced to walk miles from their homeland. It also resulted in the Florida Seminoles, a war lasting
nearly as long as the Iraq war. John Ross was not perfect as well. Though he actively fought for
the right of his people, he was a slave owner. It seems rather hypocritical for one to be fighting for
the rights of one group of people while treating another like nothing more than objects. Despite
this, John Ross did try and create change by working with allies that were white and by taking his

The Theme Of Citizen Kane
Identity is an essential part of all our lives. Our actions determine our identity, and in turn, our

By starting with which type of customer to target, the organization can be more focused on its

Alternatives
1. Do nothing. There is not much of a pro to this solution, because by doing no sort of action will
either result in the business failing and closing down, or that could cost the marketing senior
vice president her position. 2. Reward Program for businesses. By instituting a reward program
with businesses, it will allow business travelers to stay at the hotel for a discounted price for
Sunday through Thursday lodging through his or her place of employment. Instead of
attempting to find the best rate. The company knows that when an employee goes to this city, he
or she will stay at the Amber Inn and the company books it for the employee. This will increase
the business traveler base, which is already predominant. However, this will decrease the overall
revenues for the organization. 3. Increase weekend prices. By increasing lodging prices on the
weekends, it will not harm the business traveler base, and increase profits for the personal and
vacation/pleasure areas. This could adversely affect the number of guests staying at the hotel on
the weekends and drive the weekend revenue stream down. 4. Increase average daily room rate to
be more toward industry average. Since the survey says that only 36.6% stayed at the hotel based
on price and the fact that majority of business travelers had the rooms paid for by the

Peter Weirs Dead Poet Society
In Peter Weirs Dead Poet Society he effectively uses the key filmic, design and dramatic elements
to enhance the relationship between the character and the landscape. These include
cinematography, the lighting, sound and costume I will specifically talk about how he utilised
these with in the Free thinkers scene. Transitioning from the landscape of Welton Boys Boarding
school to the forest, Peter Weir was able to translate the drastic change from the uniformed proper
school to the forest on the outskirts through his capturing of the boys relationship to this new
found landscape. He was able to do this through his choices of various camera shots, angles and
movement. At the start of the scene where one of the boys feeds the dog to distract it whilst they
fled, the camera was positioned low on the ground in mid shot within the shadows. Capturing only
the silhouettes of their feet. This choice of angle is often to transit the sense of vulnerability to the
audience, but Peter Weir slowly heightened the camera so this feeling wouldn t provoke him from
portraying the vibe of secretiveness. Doing this it lifted some... Show more content on

the landscape they were in, the forest and captured how curiously they interacted with it but also
the spooky aspects of it. This shot enabled a two way glimpse into the relationship between the

Central Venous Catheters Case Studies
Central venous catheters (CVC) have become the most efficient means to administer long term,
vital medical treatments in hospitalized patients. These catheters are used in almost all types of
medical settings for purposes related to, hemodynamics monitoring, parenteral nutrition,
chemotherapy, hemodialysis etc. (Gorji, Rezaei, Jafari, Cherati, 2015, p.1). Its clinical relevance
has become extremely significant in relation to treating patients with all sorts of medical diseases
who necessitate the administration of extravasation drugs that can solely be administrated by a
CVC. Therefore, CVC have led to reduction in duration of hospitalization, increment of safety and
reduction of hospitalcharges (Gorji et al., 2015, p.1). Its benefits... Show more content on

The study randomized 341 patients into two groups, one received 10 mL NS flushes while the

sample population was limited to one hospital setting without comparisons to other hospitals as a
means to heighten its justifications on how these inconsistencies between the two flushing
mechanisms exist. This being said, it neglected to show the reality that one hospital may use a
protocol indicating nurses to use 10ml saline flushes yet the hospital down the road may have a
protocol implicating 5ml of heparin flushes. In effect, to give a better representation of the issue
being examined, it d be more valid to conduct a provincial study with various other hospitals

My Fear Of Thunders And Thunder
My fear of thunders and lightning
It is truly fascinating how children experience and overcome many fears as they are growing up
and learning whether or not something is scary. Astraphobia, otherwise known as the Phobia
(fear) of anything related to lightning and thunder, is one of them. It undoubtedly is one of the
most complicated things I have ever had to defeat. I obviously was afraid of lightning, but I
realized how ridiculous and even pathetic it could be for me. Being among my friends, leaving
them and start looking for a place where I could feel more comfortable and safer (a sort of
shelter). Sometimes hiding underneath a bed, covering my ears and even crying because acting
like that is not logical to those who have no phobia, I felt like abandoned. All of that because of
something that occurs within the clouds, far away. Overcoming a phobia of something can
magically increase your self confidence. Sometimes, it is what others think about us that makes us
to think about changing. Do not fear, my father always said. Before your teenage years, it will be
gone. And he was right. According to fearof.net , most cases of excessive fear of thunder, lightning
gradually diminish over the years ; but my case seemed to be particular. One of my most effective

Symptoms And Symptoms Of The Memory Loss
Introduction Amnesia is a mental illness that refers to memory loss. The cause for the memory
loss can be due to several factors. The memory loss could be due to emotionally disturbing events;
memory loss can also be cause of physical harm usually to the cephalic region. The disease also
interrupts the normal everyday functioning of a person suffering amnesia. An individual may still be
able to carry out certain activities despite the amnesia. Fortunately, there are diverse ways to treat
amnesia.
Pathophysiology
Amnesia is a large scale loss of information that normally should have not been forgotten, such as
key facts, important people in an individual s life, and memorable events. Amnesia also refers to
the inability to memorize information (MediLexicon, 2015). Amnesia consists of two features.
Anterograde amnesia is when new data is unable to be retained. The incapability to recollect
previously known information and past occurrences is called retrograde amnesia (Mayo Clinic,
2014). There are two different types of amnesia and different causes for the two types. The first
type of amnesia is called organic or neurological amnesia. This amnesia is a result of brain
damage or injury. Amnesia can be caused by oxygen deprivation, like from a heart attack, certain
medications like ambien, the sleep aid, and also a stroke. Encephaloma in the memory region
could also be cause. Amnesia may also result from head injuries and encephalitis. The second type
of amnesia is called

Dumbest Generation Analysis Essay
AP Language Summer Assignment
Chapter 1:
1.In chapter one of The Dumbest Generation, Mike Bauerlein makes several statements about our
generation and comes to a conclusion that helps set the groundwork for the entire book. His
analysis of today s youth states that the current generation is lacking when it comes to intellectual
knowledge. He provides evidence that states that today s under thirty population in the United
States does not have adequate knowledge, and their lack of knowledge with affect them greatly in
their adulthood years.
2. As with most of this book, the main supports that Bauerlein uses for his conclusion come in the
form of statistics. As chapter 1 progresses, he cites more and more surveys, polls, and studies ...

Many of the statistics shocked me and made me wonder about the future for our generation. As I
continued reading, I realized how much of the surveys and statistics that he used were deceptive
and manipulated my way of thinking. Bauerlein uses and abuses statistics to sway his readers
thoughts to what he believes is correct. Statistics are not as reliable as they may seem but the
author did use valid and trustworthy resources and organizations such as The National Board of
Science. The argument was very convincing and did make me wonder about the future for our
generation and made me even more worried about the next generation after mine. Overall, the
argument was strong and well planned.
Chapter 2:
1. In chapter two of The Dumbest Generation, Mark Bauerlein expands upon his stated conclusion
from the first chapter. He proclaims that one of the main reasons for the knowledge deficits of the
under thirty generation is a nationwide bibliophobia , which is a fear of books or rather the lack of
willingness to read.
2. The main evidence that Bauerlein gives us to support his theory is statistics that are found in a
survey that show the falling reading rates for people of all ages in the last 30 years. The most
popular survey was held by the National Endowment of the Arts Association entitled Survey of
Public Participation in the Arts.

How To Write A Narrative Essay About Moving To Chicago
When we lived in Chicago, we settled in with my dad s side of the family. His older sister, Ana

War II. He used many tactics to persuade public opinion to favor his anti Semitic ideas. The tough
conditions placed on the German people caused by the loss of World War II left many bitter. The
German people became desperate for a solution to solve the economic depression. Hitler used this

Envisioning a Sustainable City
I grew up in two different places. From the day I was born until age 6, I lived in a small village
in Ukraine. My family then moved to California, where I continued growing up in Sacramento.
These two places have completely different lifestyles. I will begin with my life in Ukraine. As
previously mentioned, I grew up in a small village, where everyone had land that they farmed.
Farming was our main source for food, because back then not everyone was able to afford to buy
food at stores. Everyone also had animals, mostly chickens, pigs, and cows. Most families had
one cow; the lucky ones had two or three. Every day, there was always work to be done, we
couldn t just sit in and relax the whole day. The farmland had to be plowed, watered, and farmed,
the animals had to be fed and cleaned after. This was our daily routine. Our family had an old car
that literally had to be fixed after every single time it drove. Our life in Ukraine was very
sustainable. We rarely used our car, so there was very little carbon emissions. We didn t have
electricity, so we used candles and oil lamps as our light sources. Overall, our lifestyle was very
green in Ukraine, until we moved to Sacramento, CA. In Sacramento, we did not have the same
interaction with our environment, because we lived in the city. My relatives gave us a car to drive
on. And back then, in 2000, the cars were not very green, so that increased our ecological footprint.
We started using electricity and using our car more, and

Black Friday Is Flipping The Bird
Layla Powell
Argumentation Paper
English 101
2 December, 2015
Black Friday is flipping the Bird
The biggest shopping day of the year is known as Black Friday . This is when loads of people all
around the country gather around to shop store sales everywhere before Christmas time settles in.
Stores began to use the term in the 1970s because the day after Thanksgiving marked the start of
the profitable holiday shopping season... (Zillman). According to Amanda Nicholson this term may
go back even earlier into the 1960s. Black Friday was how police officers described the day after
Thanksgiving because residents from the city and near suburbs marched the stores of
Philadelphia in search of gifts for the holidays (Zillman). The sale has since then tragically
morphed from the early first development, changing ever so drastically. Every year stores open
earlier practically flipping the bird to Thanksgiving in a way that is detrimental to history. Black
Friday should be held only on its original specified date of the Friday after Thanksgiving so that it
does not interfere in any way with the holiday gatherings because it takes employees away from
their families and friends diminishing the value of Thanksgiving as a whole.
This year most stores decided they would open on Thanksgiving. For most, Black Friday makes or
breaks annual earnings (Zillman). Do these high end retailers know that they are actually taking
employees away from their families? The answer is yes, but do they care?

IV. OPTIMIZING AVAILABILITY PROVISIONING IN NFV
Even though the efficiency is greatly improved, our framework is still impractical in the sense
that the process can be further prolonged with 1) a even higher availability requirement, which is
normal in a carrier class network [18] (usually requires an availability of 99.999% or 99.9999%
(5 9s or 6 9s)); 2) more requests; and 3) longer contract period duration. The root cause the
process takes such a long time is it depends on the strategy we use to provision backups and how
many backups are needed. In other words, if we can accurately estimate the least possible number
of backups needed without running the trial and error process, a great amount of running time can
be saved. The process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Red Light Rating
The University of Oklahoma is rated as a yellow light university, and Oklahoma State University
is rated as a red light university. According to FIRE, a yellow light university is one with policies
that could somewhat easily be able to restrict a limited amount of protected expression. This type of
speech code has a clear approach to what content is prohibited, like content regarding alcohol or
drugs. A red light, what OSU was rated, means that the institution has at least one policy that clearly
and substantially restricts freedom of speech. The universityrestricts access to their speech codes
by requiring a login and password, which impedes prospective students from seeing what is
prohibited. FIRE believes that this action alone is deceptive and serious enough to give the
university a red light rating. In one case at OSU, a pro life club called Cowboys for Life was

university had was that the group was showing pictures related to abortion. Personally, I do see

Thesis Statement Of Career Motivation

Because of the nature of the construction industry, it was not surprising that most respondents were

factor of programme choice selection is attributable by five constructs. Two of the five sub
hypotheses were substantiated in hypothesis 1. A positive relationship is found between career
motivation factor and satisfaction with choice is not unexpected. This is because serious shortfall
may exist if there is a mismatch between the learning satisfactions with career motivation. The
consequence is truancy, poor grade and dropout, in turn, the lower satisfaction with the decision
made. Career motivation is very critical for most people or graduate. For a prospective student,

A.African Colonization Colonialism is defined in the dictionary as a policy by which a nation

Africa was oppressed by the European imperial powers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries

whether the Cup should continue. In this case, the irrelevant, unavoidable costs include Rivaldo s

First of all, the influx of people that come to the tournament are advantageous for the nearby

Also, the experience and opportunities that the Cup provides to high school soccer players are too
crucial to ignore. By giving players a chance to gain recognition from college scouts and potentially

Another factor that must be discussed is the firing of the Renee Jansten. We do not know her

potential for future profits as the tournament gains more recognition and prestige should be enough
to make CYSL keep running the Craddock Cup annually.

to a reported net income of $2,126. However, if we remove the irrelevant, unavoidable costs
($10,200), we get a relevant profit of $8,074. This is $1,572 more than the $6,502 relevant profit
expected from a 32 team tournament. It would therefore be in the greater interest of the CYSL to
host a 64 team Craddock Cup next year.

team tournament.

Mississippi Vs Secession
In my initial post, I also discussed the economic factor for the Southern States seceding from the
Union; however, the Mississippi Declaration of Secession says two main factors for the state
decision of seceding from the Union than the economic factor. Historians do not use a small piece
of evidence to decide what happened, they gather facts to reconstruct the events that have to
transpire, and the same should be done when analyzing a primary document. On the Mississippi
Declaration of Secession also states, It has given indubitable evidence of its design to ruin our
agriculture, to prostrate our industrial pursuits and to destroy our social system. It knows no
relenting or hesitation in its purposes; it stops not in its march of aggression

Proclamation For Children Research Paper
This paper about Emancipation is no Proclamation. Do you agree with children being able to get
emancipated? Some agree with this action. Others, however, do not. We should be able to.
Children that want to get emancipated have their reasons for wanting to do so. Such as, they could
ve been involved in abusive actions at their house, some might want to get married young, or
maybe they are not getting supported by their loved ones or just not getting cared for at all. You
never know some people go through when they go home. Abusive situations happen all the time.
These actions could cause children to seek wanting to get emancipated. It does not have to be
beating a child to abuse them, it can be constantly hating on them, which is verbally.... Show more

You want what is best for your child, correct? Well, I hope you agreed. So, you push them to
strive for their freams, not push them to strive for them to get emancipated. Children may feel
as if they do not belong somewhere which leads them to wanting to get emancipated./Most
people would also disagree with this as well because, after all a judge did state that your parents
are not qualified to help you financially according to the website (http://hotair.com). Although,
this is still your child, could you just help them out? Does not have to be major. Help them out
the absolute best that you are able to, instead of them wanting to be emancipated because, they
will just be on their own anyways. In conclusion, you should always want to be there for your
child, love them, and care for them. Not abuse them (physically or emotionally), just try to
support their decisions no matter what they are, and try to always be there to try and help them.
Children should be able to get emancipated if they assume that it is extremely necessary to do so.
Children should never feel not loved or that their parents do not care about them. However, my
point is if you can not act like a parent do not be

Britain s Debate Over Britain
Britain is one of only a few countries in the world without a codified constitution and has long been
a topic of conversation within parliament itself and the media. There are many published articles
which argue the need for Britain to adopt a written constitution, whilst others argue that Britain is
best left with what many believe as a successful, partially codified constitution. This essay seeks to
investigate as to whether Britain would benefit from a fully codified singular document, similar to
those found in other countries or whether Britain is at an advantage by keeping it s existing
documents, some of which are in statuteform and some not, to allow for flexibility in the future.
Although Britain lacks a single codified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within Britain any law can be changed by the Governing party and this highlights the instability of
our current, partially codified constitution which is not entrenched in law. It has long been debated
as to whether Britain actually has an elected dictatorship as there is no ultimate document of overall
authority which defines the powers between executive, legislature and
judiciary(www.parliament.uk, 2014). Once a political party have been elected we as citizens have
to trust that they will abide by their promises given in manifestos and continue to listen to the
general public s wants and needs.
In 2014, Lord Neuberger, the president of the Supreme Court of the UK, caused controversy by
declaring that there are powerful arguments for Britain to adopt a written constitution. Stating that
although Britain has managed without one so far, contemporary society is such that one must
surely be adopted to secure not only the citizens rights but those within parliament. Neuberger
referred to our position within the European Union and claimed that adopting a written constitution
would help the UK overturn rulings from the European Court of Human Rights, believing that such
a constitution would have supremacy over decisions made within the Human Rights Court in
Strasbourg (Owen 2014). Britain is the only country within Europe without a legally binding
document on Human Rights and

An Anti Climax
I have been practicing this skill during the summer and continue to do it in the future. If time
permits, I will work with a staff in the Global Communication Center several times to address
this problem before the submission of the revised paper. The paper limps to an end. Pages 40 44
are an anti climax mired in too much detail. I recommend that you eliminate most of the
discussion there. As I noted in the margins, these last pages should be devoted to summing up
your argument, discussing the significance of your findings, and pointing to the next stage in
your research. I admit that this part is redundant, but there may be other options than deleting all
of them. In order to keep the story intact, I need to emphasize that the progress of technology in
the 2000s is essential to meet the accelerated flow of remains from North Korea since the mid
1990s and the new sources of remains from the Punchbowl cemetery. I will still present the number
of soldiers identified in each year as well as the interpretation of the increasing efficiency in
identification after 2005 from the angles of improved technology and funding. Thus, much
information on Page 40 and 41 will still exist in the revised version though some minutia, like
irrelevant numbers or technical details, will be expunged. The information on Page 42 to 44 needs
significant revision. I will shorten the story of the reorganization of the military personnel
accounting agencies to a great degree, just leaving the main

Us Involvement In Vietnam War
April 1955 was the birth of a critical turning point made in history. The first ever Afro Asian
conference in Bandung was established by the newly independent Asian and African countries.
President Ahmed Sukarno advocated human rights, the elimination of colonialism, nuclear
weapons as well as making peace among Afro Asian countries. (T) The Bandung conference stood
as an advocate for world peace and unity but instead caused more division and destruction among
U.S and European Nations. This paper analyzes (a) the reaction of US Cold Ward policies of
containment against Ahmed Sukarno s motivation to continue the spread on communism, (b) the
cuban revolution which involved military and nuclear forces and (c) Nato, the formation of allies

My Online Shopping Experience On Why Individuals Are Not...
An essay based on my online shopping experience on why individuals are not rational
Introduction
The essay will from my example show that individual including myself are not rational when
making decisions. I will be using a diverse range of theories from the standard economic model to
explain how the decision made during these experiences showed a rational behaviour and how it
violates the standard economic model. Behavioural Economics according to is the combination of
psychology and economics that investigates what happens in markets in which some of the agents
display human limitations and complications. The major theories that I will be discussing for the
standard economic model will be (Smith, 1976. Schiffman, 2007. Lowenstein et al, 1991) to
understand the economic model and its assumptions on individual rationality. Behavioural
economics theory helped explains my observation from my online shopping experience and
irrationality of individuals when it involves decision making.
Main body
Standard economic theory assumes that people are rational, act based on full information have
stable preferences and always maximize utility. The main accomplishment of Smith was to put
forward as the central theme of economics the logical analysis of the behaviour of individual agents
pursuing their self interest under conditions of competition (Smith. 1976). The standard economic
model assumes that people are perfectly rational, maximising decision makers when faced with a
problem

Crime And Punishment Religion
Religion has held a tremendous impact on history, from wars to crusades to revolutions, and the
faith stemmed from religion has helped humanity throughout the years. Fyodor Dostoyevsky, author
of Crime and Punishment, was a conservative Russian Orthodox Christian whose faith helped him
in his most trying times, such as during his imprisonment in Siberia. His beliefs on religion and
faith can be seen in his novelCrime and Punishment, a story where the main character, Raskolnikov,
commits a murder but eventually confesses and finds redemption through religion. In this
redemption Raskolnikov is, in a sense, resurrected, finding again the Lord and the hope for life. In

Informative Essay On Ice Hockey
There are many fun and exciting games in the winter Olympic. There is snowboarding, figure
skating, bobsledding, and many more sports. But one of the most exciting and intense ones is ice
hockey. Ice hockey is played by many countries and is a very popular international sport. Every
year there is a men s and women s tournament. 12 teams compete in the men s tournament and 6 in
the women s. People from all over the globe gather to watch these teams compete. So what is ice
hockey? Basically, Ice hockey is a contact sport played between two teams on an ice court. The
goal of the game is to hit a round puck into a guarded goal. Each team has six players and one
goalie on the court at one time. Each player has protective gear like helmets and pads. They also
have a hockey stick that they use to hit the puck into the goal. The goalie s gear is a little different
than the players. The goalie has very thick pads that cover his entire body, a large helmet, and a
hockey stick.
Now that you know what the objective of the game is, you should also know the rules of the game.

There are two main rules. First, players are not allowed to hit or assault each other with their
equipment. And second, they are only permitted to touch each other to a certain extent. In
addition, hockey games could contain many face offs. A face off is when the referee drops the
puck between two players that are separate teams. The two player both try to gain control of the
puck by hitting it to a teammate. In ice hockey there are also many penalties for not following the
rules such. One of the main penalties is having to play shorthanded. This happens when a player is
placed in a penalty box for a certain amount of time ranging from 2 to 10 minutes. This results in
one team only having five players on the

In the book, The Catcher in the Rye, is is clearly shown that certain tragic events can affects the
growth of one s maturity. Essentially leading to mental breakdowns and in holden s case, put him

world around him and shows that he is terrified about growing up. He becomes disappointed with
the interactions that he has with other people and his lack of social interest shows he does not
know how to empathize with for others. His cynical views make him inferior even though he
wants to be superior. This would essentially be summed up into what is known as an existential

a mental not that you cannot do as you please in this world. In a conversation between Holden
and Spencer, Holden is lectured about the importance of playing by the rules. Spencer, his
former history teacher at Pencey, explains that life should be played by the rules. and calls life a
game. To himself, Holden goes on to say, Game, my ass. Some game. If you get on the side
where all the hot shots are, then it s a game, all right I ll admit that. But if you get on the other
side, where there aren t any hot shots, then what s a game about it? Nothing. No game (Salinger
8). Clearly, Holden identifies himself with the people on the other side. He shows that he is sort
of isolated from the rest of the world and created this cynical view of everyone and everything.
He shows that he has no hope in becoming on of the hot shots and already expresses that he is a
lost cause and does not know what to do with his life. It seems as though Holden s oversized
inferiority feelings are in contrast to his exВtremely high goals of superiority. Thus he is sure to

Panera Bread Strengths
Panera Bread Company has a variety of strengths that make it stand out from its competitors in the
market. One of these strengths that make Panera Bread Company stand out from its competitors
is that it has strong brand image across the whole entire country. This strength is the foundation
for many successes Panera Bread Company has achieved such as having very good financials in
all regions of the country. The reason this strength is so important for Panera is that it allows for
its potential customer no mater where he or she is in the country to know exactly what a great

Although Panera has strong customer loyalty it is struggling to add additional customers to it
clientele. This weakness has dramatic impact on the revenue that Panera Bread Company is able
to earn. It is one of the reasons that the company cannot take the next step in the growth process.
The struggle for Panera to acquire new customer is problem the greatest weakness of the company
because if they start losing customers they will be in a large amount of financial trouble more so
than a company who is able to acquire new customers.
Opportunities:
The Biggest opportunity for Panera Bread Company is to open it doors in foreign market such
as Asia and Europe. If Panera can successful go global it will be able to fix many of its weakness.
This is because most of them deal with not getting new customers, stagnate growth of the business
model and Panera Bread Company hitting some sort of a ceiling that is stopping its growth. By
going global this fixes many of these problems.
Another opportunity Panera Bread Company can take advantage of is the culture of the people to
wanting to eat more healthy items. Panera Bread Company can take advantage of this by creating
an advertising campaign around its already healthy food items and low calorie section of its menu.
If this opportunity is taken advantage of it could provide Panera Bread Company with a method of

Behavioral Enrichment And Monitoring For Animal Welfare
Behavioral Enrichment and Monitoring as Means to Improve Animal Welfare
Although keepers have provided forms of enrichment to zoo animals for years, interest in
scientifically raising captive animals standard of living has grown (Ben Ari, 2001). Behavioral
engineering, also known as behavioral, animal, or environmental enrichment, is a type of husbandry
technique used to better the physiological and psychological states of animals, conserve species by
raising the rate of reproduction, diversify suitable behaviors, reduce stress and predatory and
aggressive acts, increase learning ability, and/or provide animals with exercise, entertainment, or
some sense of control in their environment (Ben Ari, 2001). Enrichment can take many forms, such
as the addition of novelty objects to an animal s environment, renovating exhibits, and training (Ben
Ari, 2001). However, Ben Ari (2001) details the emergence of a standardized scientific methodof
enrichment, in which enrichment strategies are planned, executed, observed, documented, assessed,
and then modified. Nevertheless, intensive studies are not feasible for all zoos (Ben Ari, 2001).
For example, only 2 percent of enrichment at Disney s Animal Kingdom is evaluated through 12
weeklong projects (Ben Ari, 2001). Although not widespread yet, these types of strategies take
animals mental states and behaviors exhibited in the wild into account (Ben Ari, 2001). Because
biologists have not documented every species wild behavior,

Occurence of Crime Essay
Within each society wealth, power and status is distributed unfairly and unequally. This inequality
creates social class divisions, people at different levels, where some have more while others less
(Haralambos, 2008). All societies form through the same process where behaviour is learnt from
others within the community. The learning process, known as socialization, varies and it is culture
that determines how to think by teaching appropriate behaviour relevant to that society. Informal
rules using the same norms and values specifies behaviour for certain situations and suggests how
to behave overall. However, some people do not follow these informal rules and act as they wish.
In this instance the term deviance is used for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the small minority within the law, capitalists, determines value consensus rules for the
majority, workers. It could be argued this is unfair, workers are unable to contribute to laws.
Functionalism is based on meritocracy, suggesting inequality of wealth and power is normal, the
most deserving should be rewarded as individuals have equal opportunities of progression
providing they work hard. However, it fails to take into account that some are more likely to
accomplish success than others. It could be suggested people who have access to economic
resources have greater chances (Taylor, 1997). Functionalism consider behaviour to be
deterministic, it does not look at what motivates behaviour rather it is the effect of something that
causes it, which if controlled stops bad behaviour Durkheim believes society growth breaks
solidarity as weakened authority and morals arise when people become independent and stop
relying on each other. This causes anomie, a feeling of normlessness which can develop into
deviance (Taylor, 1997). However, Durkheim considers crime a valuable commodity as punishment
demonstrates authority. This controls behaviour whilst also strengthening societys power, although
excess crime reflects society breakdowns (Haralambos, 2008). However, Livesey (2005) argues that
a perfect functionalist society would not need to change. Merton thought society was

Don t Bother Me By James Taggart And Hank Rearden
Don t bother me, don t bother me, don t bother me. James Taggart, President of Taggart
Transcontinental Railroad and one of the last descendants of the distinguished Nat Taggart,
exists in a constant state of irritation. He snaps at any interruption; he whines at any setback; he
dissolves into hysterics when faced with a problem of any size. More often than not, he foists
accountability and responsibility for action upon his capable sister and Vice President, Dagny.
Bother and its avoidance are a central part of Taggart s existence. His bother comes to him in
many forms, simultaneously referring with different shadings to different circumstances;
however, they are all symptoms of his deepest, greatest bother. If his bother is felt as annoyance
and perplexity, he is bothered by the idea of business and its embodiment in the competent
industrialists Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden. Taggart is first introduced as he swats at these
bothers; Eddie Willers, that honorable feudal serf of the Taggarts and their railroad, had
approached him with concerns about a wreck on his Rio Norte Line and its consequences (15).
Naturally, he ducks that responsibility, pleading don t bother me and instead taking the opportunity
to argue with Eddie over the ethics of his railroad. He has no use for the particulars of business
when, it seems to him, there are more important things in the world than making money (17). This
vaguely moral realm is one where the primary virtues are the

  • 2. How Does Shakespeare Create Tension In Romeo And Juliet A pair of star cross d lovers in the classic tale Romeo and Juliet, is written by the famous playwright William Shakespeare. In the midst of the Capulet and Montague s ancient grudge and hatred for one another, Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague are confronted with a forbidden lust separated by their family s feud. The story explores love, hatred, death and forgiveness, depicted through the stylistic features that Shakespeare employs to portray tension between the Montague and Capulet families. The tale of Romeo and Juliet sees their love trial among an endless brawl of hatred with many consequences. The opening scene introduces conflict between the two families through their slave s dialogue, I will bite my thumb at them, which is a disgrace. Shakespeare already establishes within the first scene the hatred that both families have for each other that even their help and staff cannot stand one another. Furthermore Shakespeare uses setting to convey the particular hatred Tybalt has for Romeo when he crashes the Capulet s party. Such a villain is a guest, I will not endure him. As well as further demonstrates the bad terms both families are on.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shakespeare ironically sets the setting of their blossom of love at the Capulet s party, a place where if Romeo is seen, they will murder thee , in order to show his sacrifice for their love. Contrary in Juliet s soliloquy she begs Romeo to deny thy father and refuse thy name. Shakespeare explains that if it was not for Juliet being a Capulet and similarly, Romeo a Montague, there love would be free to flourish. On the flip side it also shows the tension between families for their love must be kept secret. A plague o both your houses foreshadows bad things to come of Romeos love with Juliet in the future that will see both fighting families suffer great loss. With love and hate battling through the story the only resolution can be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Digging Seamus Heaney was born on April 13, 1939, on a farm in Castledawson, County Derry, Northern Digging Seamus Heaney was born on April 13, 1939, on a farm in Castledawson, County Derry, Northern Ireland, the eldest of eight children. In 1963, he began teaching at St. Joseph s College in Belfast. The first poem I ll be looking at is digging it was written in 1966. The poem consists of 9 stanzas that vary between two lines and five lines in length. There is no pattern to the stanzas, perhaps to reflect the idea that there is no pattern or predictability to our memories. In the poem there is quite a variation in the language e.g. the title is blunt. It is only when we have read the poem carefully that we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He was also proud of his grandfather, who was so keen to work that he hardly stopped when Heaney brought him some milk. To drink it, and then fell to right away this show how hard he worked. His work was precise nicking and slicing neatly and he was strong heaving sods over his shoulder. Heaney does not explain exactly why he has no spade to follow men like them . Does he think he is not physically strong enough for the work? Or does he think his father and grandfather may not approve of him cultivating the land. There is quite a lot of alliteration in digging e.g. curd cuts digging down and down and the squelch and slap of soggy peat this gives the poem life it makes it more interesting to read. The opening simile is striking Heaney s pen is snug as a gun . It shows how perfectly the pen fits his hand, this shows how well suited Heaney is to write. (In the fourth stanza, Heaney describes how perfectly his father s body is in tune with the spade, showing how well suited he is to dig.) The gun image also suggests the strength of the pen, it is a weapon for writing. There is a writing technique called enjambment which means lines in a poem that run on from on to another without a punctuation or pause. There is an example of this between the second and third stanza. My father, digging. I look down Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds Bends low, comes up twenty years away, ... • 4. Introduction to Optical Coherence Tomography Introduction to Optical Coherence Tomography Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a method of imaging which uses near infrared or optical light scattering to produce three dimensional images of a medium. Medical applications are of particular interest, since OCT allows retinal and other tissues to be imaged with high resolution. I. Introduction Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a method of imaging which uses near infrared or optical light scattering to produce three dimensional images of a medium. In particular, this paper will focus on the application of OCT to medical imaging. Like most radar imaging, an OCT device emits EM radiation and constructs an image based on the light reflected back from an object. However, OCT differs from traditional radar in several important ways. First, because OCT uses a much shorter wavelength of light than radio frequency radar, OCT emissions only propagate about 1 mm into biological tissues. This limits the possible images from OCT as compared to MRI or CT scans, so OCT is only appropriate for some specific types of medical imaging, such as retinal scans. The benefit of using a shorter wavelength is an increase in imaging resolution. A typical OCT image has a resolution of 10 20 Вµm. At this resolution very small biological structures are easily resolved and can be analyzed. Second, OCT requires that returning radiation be collected from many different angles. Traditional radar imaging is collected from one, or at most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The five themes are mission, manifest destiny, industrialization, imperialism, and race. Racism has been an issue throughout American history. Only in recent years has the problem been resolved, but even now there is still some issues. Some private groups are still against some races. He delivered the famous I Have a Dream speech in which he expanded American values to include the vision of a color blind society, and established his reputation as one of the greatest orators in American history. He was then assassinated on April 4, 1968 in which is now a holiday to where he will always be remembered for his great deeds in solving equality between the blacks and whites. The Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987 prohibited segregation and discrimination in employment and other areas. The racism issues during this period of time, caused lots of hate and crime. Fortunately during this period of time, slavery had already been abolished but it took many years to completely have equal rights for all races. Organizations have formed for anti racist and civil rights activism such as the NAACP, National Association of the Advancement of Colored People, and other groups as well. Since America has the right of freedom of speech, groups that are racist are allowed but if they involve any violence they will be prosecuted for their actions. Throughout the years we have had more African Americans running for governor, congress, and even President. In 1989 L. Douglas Wilder became the first black elected governor. Our President now, Barack Obama, is our 44th president and our first African American to hold the office. This shows that times have definitely changed throughout the years. Pro life considers abortion unethical while pro choice considers it to be ethical. Some reasons why it would be labeled unethical is because one may tie their religion to their ethical standpoint and examine the potential life that a woman is carrying to be pure and destined for greatness. They may argue that by having an abortion, one is taking away from the world a potential Ghandi or scientist that may be able to someday create the cure for cancer. They may reason that by having sex, a woman is already obliged to have a child if she becomes pregnant and having an abortion is considered to be running away from responsibility. They may also believe that by having an abortion, one is committing murder. On the other hand, there are people who consider abortion to be ethical because they reason that regardless of the potential life, it is a woman s body, future, and ultimately, her choice. They may also reason that a woman should not have the weight of feeling the obligation to have a child because it is her decision to mold out her own future and not have roles imposed on her by society. In An Account of a Ten Foot Square Hut, the writer is basically revealing that peace can be found in beauty, and beauty is found within the soul. Sometimes the way of civilization(worry about reputation, ranking of social status, politics, love affairs, etc.) interferes in finding spiritual peace. However, Genji was a man in love with beauty and the arts, but he was never at peace with himself. He needed the company of other, specially the company of beautiful women. • 9. Raising The Minimum Wage Of The United States Raise the minimum wage: In the United States, studies show that women tend to make up a disproportionate share of low wage workers. In the field of education, men tends to go more to STEM than women and that also leads to high paying jobs for men. If we raise the minimum wage, this will help hardworking women to support their families. Approximately, women made up two thirds of all minimum wageworkers in 2012. With the current federal minimum wagei.e. $7.25 per hour, someone working full time, only earn $15,080 a year round. People working full time with minimum wage is still below the povertythreshold for any family with children and single person is also not far above the poverty line. So, increasing the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour would help increase the wages for about 15 million women, which will help close the gender wage gap. Raise the tipped minimum wage: The gender wage gap is vividly observed in tipped workers. The federal tipped minimum wage, which hasn t been changed since 1991, only pays workers $2.13 per hour. According to the Economic Policy Institute, women make up two thirds of tipped workers and are 70 percent of food servers and bartenders, occupations that comprise more than half of the tipped workforce. Tipped workers have a higher poverty rate than non tipped workers, and 46 percent rely on government assistance to make ends meet. In 1950 s and 60 s an industrial food formula, was created in order to take strides towards delivering ample, affordable, healthy and safe food in the global North (Roberts, 2013). This Industrial formula has not lived up to its standards however and has caused some disappointment. As new generations emerge, so do aspirations that food should taste real, provide fulfilling careers, support health, contribute to local communities, honor the environment and enhance global sustainability (Roberts, 2013: 11). This new trend has been termed the New Food Equation by Kevin Morgan and is a way to present the food problem as a challenge and urge people to solve the problem by making good food choices (Rogers, 2013). They are multiple pillars to implementing this new food movement, but food sovereignty and organic foods are the area of focus today. Members of La Via Campania coined the term food sovereignty. This was an organization formed in 1992 that represents some 200 million peasants, small farmers, agricultural workers and indigenous people from seventy different countries (Rogers, 2013: 88). Sonny s Blues By James Baldwin Essay Sonny s Blues is a narration about two siblings brothers who choose very different routes in life in order to accomplish the zenith of individualism, expressionism and recognition. In doing so, they take a glimpse into one another s spheres and learn to assent and appreciate each other for who they are. In 1951, Baldwin wrote Sonny s Blues, a story of the ills that Harlem provided its youth. In Baldwin s telling of the narration, it forms a nous of liberation, an atmosphere of therapeutic acceptance for the author, in which Baldwin develops to express his own state through his virtuoso of storytelling. To put it inanely, Baldwin has such a fine grasp of the linguistic and such great urge to interpret that he can move even his stoutest detractors to emotion and response. Walter Dean Myers (2014), a famous New York Times journalist wrote that ...I read a story by James Baldwin: Sonny s Blues. • 14. Analysis Of The Book American Psycho By Bret Easton Ellis American Psycho is a novel written by Bret Easton Ellis in 1991. The book details the life and subsequent descent into madness of yuppie investment banker Patrick Bateman. Bateman appears to everyone as charming young man but is also possibly one of the most vicious serial killers in American history (whether Bateman committed the murders is left ambiguous). It takes place at the height of the Reagan era in Manhattan and is primarily a critique of the vapid and capitalist society that Bateman resides in. Ellis criticizes various aspects of American culture through both the actions and thoughts of Patrick Batemanand those around him. Bateman acts as symbol of the death of ones humanity that occurs in a superficial and nihilistic post modern society. The things that are critiqued the most in this novel are materialism, conformity, superficiality, and the depravity of man.One of the most prevalent aspects of society criticized by this novel is the depravity of man. Ellis portrays American society as a place rife with violence and horror yet is also desensitized to it. For example this is summarized perfectly on page 4 when Timothy Price (a friend of Bateman) looks through a newspaper and says the following: In one issue in One issue let s see here... strangled models, babies thrown from tenement rooftops, kids killed in the subway, a Communist rally, Mafia boss wiped out, Nazis he flips through the pages excitedly baseball players with AIDS, more Mafia shit, gridlock, ... • 15. Mmr Vaccine To Autism There have been several studies linking the MMR vaccine to Autism. From what I have read, it seems that the MMR vaccine has not had anything to do with Autism. The major study that we are writing about is what Andrew Wakefield and his twelve colleagues published in the journal, Lancet. During this study, Andrew Wakefield and the 12 co authors suggest that the MMR vaccine may predispose to behavioral regression and pervasive developmental disorder in children (NCBI, 2011). Because of Doctor Wakefield and his colleagues, the MMR vaccine numbers began to plummet. They started to plummet because parents were concerned about their children and did not want this vaccination to cause their children to develop Autism. Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder of children, characterized by impaired communication, excessive rigidity, and emotional detachment: now considered one of the autism spectrum disorders (Dictionary.com). And MMR Vaccine is the immunization vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella or also known as a German measles. Many people thought that the MMR vaccine leads to autism because, the MMR vaccine is given to children early on in their childhood, and so is the diagnosis of Autism. This made people think that the two were related somehow. After the study by Andrew Wakefield, epidemiological studies were conducted and published, stating the opposite of what Doctor Wakefield and his colleagues stated. During the time this paper was written, about 90 percent of children in England received MMR vaccine (Children s Hospital of Philadelphia, 2014). Children are given the MMR vaccine around the same time that they are diagnosed with Autism, and Doctor Wakefield used that to his advantage. It was also stated, it would be expected that most children with autism would have received an MMR vaccine (Children s Hospital of Philadelphia, 2014). Doctor Wakefield and his twelve colleagues picked what information they chose to use. They also chose information that would also falsify facts to their benefit as well (NCBI, 2011). Their study was one sided, which made their paper seem correct and influenced parents to withhold their children from getting vaccinated. The study that Doctor Wakefield and his ... As the first article states, there are two sides to every story, and as it also states there are few saints in this tale. Despite Andrew Jackson s positive contributions, such as insuring that Cherokees were given equal pay, he still massacred thousands of Native Americans. He signed the Indian Removal Act, which prompted the Trail of Tears, one of the darkest events in American History in which 13,000 Cherokees were forced to walk miles from their homeland. It also resulted in the Florida Seminoles, a war lasting nearly as long as the Iraq war. John Ross was not perfect as well. Though he actively fought for the right of his people, he was a slave owner. • 33. Envisioning a Sustainable City I grew up in two different places. From the day I was born until age 6, I lived in a small village in Ukraine. My family then moved to California, where I continued growing up in Sacramento. These two places have completely different lifestyles. I will begin with my life in Ukraine. As previously mentioned, I grew up in a small village, where everyone had land that they farmed. Farming was our main source for food, because back then not everyone was able to afford to buy food at stores. Everyone also had animals, mostly chickens, pigs, and cows. Most families had one cow; the lucky ones had two or three. Every day, there was always work to be done, we couldn t just sit in and relax the whole day. The farmland had to be plowed, watered, and farmed, the animals had to be fed and cleaned after. This was our daily routine. Our family had an old car that literally had to be fixed after every single time it drove. Our life in Ukraine was very sustainable. We rarely used our car, so there was very little carbon emissions. We didn t have electricity, so we used candles and oil lamps as our light sources. Overall, our lifestyle was very green in Ukraine, until we moved to Sacramento, CA. In Sacramento, we did not have the same interaction with our environment, because we lived in the city. My relatives gave us a car to drive on. And back then, in 2000, the cars were not very green, so that increased our ecological footprint. We started using electricity and using our car more, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Black Friday Is Flipping The Bird Layla Powell Argumentation Paper English 101 2 December, 2015 Black Friday is flipping the Bird The biggest shopping day of the year is known as Black Friday . This is when loads of people all around the country gather around to shop store sales everywhere before Christmas time settles in. Stores began to use the term in the 1970s because the day after Thanksgiving marked the start of the profitable holiday shopping season... (Zillman). According to Amanda Nicholson this term may go back even earlier into the 1960s. Black Friday was how police officers described the day after Thanksgiving because residents from the city and near suburbs marched the stores of Philadelphia in search of gifts for the holidays (Zillman). The sale has since then tragically morphed from the early first development, changing ever so drastically. Every year stores open earlier practically flipping the bird to Thanksgiving in a way that is detrimental to history. Black Friday should be held only on its original specified date of the Friday after Thanksgiving so that it does not interfere in any way with the holiday gatherings because it takes employees away from their families and friends diminishing the value of Thanksgiving as a whole. This year most stores decided they would open on Thanksgiving. For most, Black Friday makes or breaks annual earnings (Zillman). Do these high end retailers know that they are actually taking employees away from their families? The answer is yes, but do they care? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

OPTIMIZING AVAILABILITY PROVISIONING IN NFV Even though the efficiency is greatly improved, our framework is still impractical in the sense that the process can be further prolonged with 1) a even higher availability requirement, which is normal in a carrier class network [18] (usually requires an availability of 99.999% or 99.9999% (5 9s or 6 9s)); 2) more requests; and 3) longer contract period duration. The root cause the process takes such a long time is it depends on the strategy we use to provision backups and how many backups are needed. In other words, if we can accurately estimate the least possible number of backups needed without running the trial and error process, a great amount of running time can be saved. The process ... According to FIRE, a yellow light university is one with policies that could somewhat easily be able to restrict a limited amount of protected expression. This type of speech code has a clear approach to what content is prohibited, like content regarding alcohol or drugs. A red light, what OSU was rated, means that the institution has at least one policy that clearly and substantially restricts freedom of speech. The universityrestricts access to their speech codes by requiring a login and password, which impedes prospective students from seeing what is prohibited. Although total expenses are $53,538, we need to eliminate the irrelevant, or unavoidable, costs when deciding whether the Cup should continue. In this case, the irrelevant, unavoidable costs include Rivaldo s salary allocated to the tournament ($6,300), the field rental cost for the week ($1,200), and the rent /utilities expense for the Cup ($2,700). Another factor that must be discussed is the firing of the Renee Jansten. We do not know her current financial situation and would like to avoid firing anyone if at all avoidable. Lastly, the potential for future profits as the tournament gains more recognition and prestige should be enough to make CYSL keep running the Craddock Cup annually. 4.Exhibit A shows the expected financial impact of adding 32 more teams to the schedule. Once a political party have been elected we as citizens have to trust that they will abide by their promises given in manifestos and continue to listen to the general public s wants and needs. In 2014, Lord Neuberger, the president of the Supreme Court of the UK, caused controversy by declaring that there are powerful arguments for Britain to adopt a written constitution. Stating that although Britain has managed without one so far, contemporary society is such that one must surely be adopted to secure not only the citizens rights but those within parliament. Neuberger referred to our position within the European Union and claimed that adopting a written constitution would help the UK overturn rulings from the European Court of Human Rights, believing that such a constitution would have supremacy over decisions made within the Human Rights Court in Strasbourg (Owen 2014). Behavioural Economics according to is the combination of psychology and economics that investigates what happens in markets in which some of the agents display human limitations and complications. The major theories that I will be discussing for the standard economic model will be (Smith, 1976. Schiffman, 2007. Behavioural economics theory helped explains my observation from my online shopping experience and irrationality of individuals when it involves decision making. Main body Standard economic theory assumes that people are rational, act based on full information have stable preferences and always maximize utility. The main accomplishment of Smith was to put forward as the central theme of economics the logical analysis of the behaviour of individual agents pursuing their self interest under conditions of competition (Smith. 1976). • 53. Behavioral Enrichment And Monitoring For Animal Welfare Behavioral Enrichment and Monitoring as Means to Improve Animal Welfare Although keepers have provided forms of enrichment to zoo animals for years, interest in scientifically raising captive animals standard of living has grown (Ben Ari, 2001). Behavioral engineering, also known as behavioral, animal, or environmental enrichment, is a type of husbandry technique used to better the physiological and psychological states of animals, conserve species by raising the rate of reproduction, diversify suitable behaviors, reduce stress and predatory and aggressive acts, increase learning ability, and/or provide animals with exercise, entertainment, or some sense of control in their environment (Ben Ari, 2001). Enrichment can take many forms, such as the addition of novelty objects to an animal s environment, renovating exhibits, and training (Ben Ari, 2001). However, Ben Ari (2001) details the emergence of a standardized scientific methodof enrichment, in which enrichment strategies are planned, executed, observed, documented, assessed, and then modified. Nevertheless, intensive studies are not feasible for all zoos (Ben Ari, 2001). For example, only 2 percent of enrichment at Disney s Animal Kingdom is evaluated through 12 weeklong projects (Ben Ari, 2001). Although not widespread yet, these types of strategies take animals mental states and behaviors exhibited in the wild into account (Ben Ari, 2001). Because biologists have not documented every species wild behavior, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Occurence of Crime Essay Within each society wealth, power and status is distributed unfairly and unequally. This inequality creates social class divisions, people at different levels, where some have more while others less (Haralambos, 2008). All societies form through the same process where behaviour is learnt from others within the community. The learning process, known as socialization, varies and it is culture that determines how to think by teaching appropriate behaviour relevant to that society. Informal rules using the same norms and values specifies behaviour for certain situations and suggests how to behave overall. However, some people do not follow these informal rules and act as they wish. In this instance the term deviance is used for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the small minority within the law, capitalists, determines value consensus rules for the majority, workers. It could be argued this is unfair, workers are unable to contribute to laws. Functionalism is based on meritocracy, suggesting inequality of wealth and power is normal, the most deserving should be rewarded as individuals have equal opportunities of progression providing they work hard. However, it fails to take into account that some are more likely to accomplish success than others. It could be suggested people who have access to economic resources have greater chances (Taylor, 1997). Functionalism consider behaviour to be deterministic, it does not look at what motivates behaviour rather it is the effect of something that causes it, which if controlled stops bad behaviour Durkheim believes society growth breaks solidarity as weakened authority and morals arise when people become independent and stop relying on each other. This causes anomie, a feeling of normlessness which can develop into deviance (Taylor, 1997). However, Durkheim considers crime a valuable commodity as punishment demonstrates authority. This controls behaviour whilst also strengthening societys power, although excess crime reflects society breakdowns (Haralambos, 2008). However, Livesey (2005) argues that a perfect functionalist society would not need to change. Merton thought society was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Don t Bother Me By James Taggart And Hank Rearden Don t bother me, don t bother me, don t bother me. James Taggart, President of Taggart Transcontinental Railroad and one of the last descendants of the distinguished Nat Taggart, exists in a constant state of irritation. He snaps at any interruption; he whines at any setback; he dissolves into hysterics when faced with a problem of any size. More often than not, he foists accountability and responsibility for action upon his capable sister and Vice President, Dagny. Bother and its avoidance are a central part of Taggart s existence. His bother comes to him in many forms, simultaneously referring with different shadings to different circumstances; however, they are all symptoms of his deepest, greatest bother. If his bother is felt as annoyance and perplexity, he is bothered by the idea of business and its embodiment in the competent industrialists Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden. Taggart is first introduced as he swats at these bothers; Eddie Willers, that honorable feudal serf of the Taggarts and their railroad, had approached him with concerns about a wreck on his Rio Norte Line and its consequences (15). Naturally, he ducks that responsibility, pleading don t bother me and instead taking the opportunity to argue with Eddie over the ethics of his railroad. He has no use for the particulars of business when, it seems to him, there are more important things in the world than making money (17). This vaguely moral realm is one where the primary virtues are the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
