Joey, And All Other Animals
I would say Joey is the main character of the play. Joey, and all other animals, is a large wooden
puppet, which is played by a group of people. Joey is played by Tom Gilbey, Michael
Humphreys, and Tom Larkin. There is a person for his head, a person for his heart and a person
for his hind. They work very well together making, Joey move and sound like he is a real horse.
The actors operating Joey are dressed in brown clothing and wearing flat caps, this is so that
they could blend in with Joey. They can still be clearly seen but the puppets are so realistic we,
the audience, forget they are not really a horse and the actors soon blend into the background. The
way the actors were standing depended on Joey s actions and his mood. If Joey... Show more

The difference in Joey and Topthorn, could have been used to highlight Joey s innocence, and by
doing this it make the audience feel sympathy towards Joey. I believe that the puppets were used so
that they can re invent the ordinary and make the audience feel sympathy towards an inanimate
object that was doing things that it wasn t meant or designed to do.
Albert Narracott, played by Lee Armstrong, is also a significant character in the play. He is Joey s
owner and a 16 year old boy. He changes throughout the play, starting out as a young, naГЇve boy,
but he turns into someone more obsessive when looking for Joey and joining the army. At the
start of the play, Albert was wearing a turn of the century agricultural labour clothing, with a hat.
This changed when he joined the army, and was wearing a soldier s uniform to show his
transition from a farmhand in rural Britain to a soldier. Albert was a quite mature 16 years old and
this could be because of Ted his father.
Ted Narracott, played by Steven Hillman, is Albert s father. He is also a drunk and he owns the
farm. He has many problems, which include being an alcoholic and a gambler. Ted is an integral
character, because without him, Joey wouldn t have come to the Narracott family, and in turn
wouldn t have been sent off into the war. Ted is a contrast to his

Prairie Vole Observation
In this experimental study, Robinson, Myers, Hofer, Shair, and Welch look at the way in which
Prairie Vole pups may show companion preference for their mothers (the dam) over their fathers
(the sire) primarily through the increase rate of vocal cues (potentiation) they exhibit after being
separated from the dam. Two main experiments were conducted in this study, the main difference
being that in one (Experiment 1) the vole parents were drugged and inactive during reunions with
the pups, whereas in the second (Experiment 2) the parents were not drugged, and were active
during the reunion with the pups. In both of these experiments, the pup was first placed in an
isolation test cage, followed by a reunion with either the dam, sire, two litter... Show more content

Although it is currently hypothetical, I see not accounting for this possibility as a potential
weakness in the study. I know we said in class that psychologists try to stay away from sex
difference studies, but lets say in Experiment 2 everything was the same, except instead of the
actual dam of the pup, we replaced her with a random female vole. If the pups still showed
potentiation in response to be separating form the random female and not the sire there might be
something to be said about females voles naturally adopting the primary caregiver role and/or pups
naturally eliciting a stronger emotional connection to

Job Automation Advantages
One of the biggest controversies with the advancement of artificial intelligence is the debate on
job automation. Many people believe that artificial intelligence will advance to become better
than humans and replace humans in most jobs. The opposite belief is that AI will be used to
improve the standard of living and will be a tool to support humans, not replace them. Job
automation has many benefits such as performing more dangerous jobs and complete tasks that
humans do not desire to do. Even though job automation has benefits, there are many people who
believe robots will take over the job market and the unemployment rate will skyrocket. There are
multiple supporting factors for each side of the job automation debate, but the argument will never
be settled until AI is further advanced and utilized. The main key points of the side that support
the advancement of job automation is that AI will improve the standard of living, lower the prices
of products, and encourage people to get higher education. As job automation progresses, so does
the standard of living. The largest sector of the job industry that will be affected by job automation
is the service sector, manufacturing, and many other jobs that do not require higher education.
Since robots will replace these lower paying jobs that do not require much skill, the quality of life
will increase. One negative effect is that there are numerous people that hold these positions in the
lower paying industry that will lose

Techniques Used by Clarinet Players
Technique is very important for all musicians of all types, especially for Clarinet players. Many of
the techniques are vital for a great musician to understand. Things such as embouchure, vibrato and
tone effects are all things that are required by the musician. I will be investigating the embouchure
and how a correct one will substantially increase your prowess as a woodwind, particularly clarinet,
player. The clarinet is a woodwind instrument that has a single reed mouthpiece. Johann Christoph
Denner invented the clarinet in Germany around the turn of the 18th century by adding a register
key to the earlier Chalumea. Having a correct embouchure is vitally important to playing woodwind
instruments.
Structure
1.Embouchure.
2.Different types of embouchures in different people.
3.Research into different kinds of embouchure and how other people do it.
4.Synthesis of why it is very important to have an good embouchure.
With the woodwinds, the sound is generated by a reed and not with the lips. The embouchure is
therefore based on sealing the area around the reed and the mouthpiece. This makes sure that there
is no air escaping from either side of the mouthpiece when the musician is blowing. A reed
instrument works by having the musician blowing a steady breath of air over the reed and through
the mouthpiece. The vibrations of the reed are what produce the sound that makes up the notes.
The harder or stronger the air is passing over the reed the higher the pitch of the

Effects of Monopolies in the Usa Economy
The effects of monopolies on the U.S. Economy
What is a monopoly?
The concept of a monopoly is largely misunderstood and the mere mention of the term evokes lots
of emotions that make clear judgment almost impossible. The standard economic and social case
for or against monopolistic businesses is no longer straightforward.
According to Mankiw (2009) a monopoly is defined as a market structure characterized by a single
seller of a unique product with no close substitutes[1]. When a business dominates a market, it
becomes a monopoly by virtue of its power. A company (or a group of affiliated companies) is
considered to have a dominant position in a particular market if it exerts a decisive influence over

(Haas, 2006) Citizens of The United States value competition in their market system. Competition
not only keeps prices low and encourages production of new products to the market place but also
fosters innovations that help to bring down the cost of doing business. Contrary to popular belief,
monopolies are not illegal in the United States .Indeed a government created monopoly is
exemplified by the patent and copyright law. This is a law that governs intellectual property. A
pharmaceutical company that develops an original drug can patent it for several years during which
it enjoys exclusive production rights. Such a patent offers the producer monopoly status where the
producer can charge higher prices and earn greater profits. On the other hand, such a law is
beneficial because it encourages innovation and continuous research within pharmaceutical
companies to develop new and more superior products.
Moreover only big monopolies with significant market power have the capacity to carry out
research and development on their products. This leads to innovation since new knowledge is
applied to the production process. The nearly twenty year monopoly enjoyed by Microsoft in
manufacturing of its computer software has not only ensured harmony and uniformity in computer
software but also facilitated accessibility of computers by the greater population. Consequently, this
has lead to the information technology revolution

Why I Want To Be A Vet Essay
In the United States today there are fewer animal lovers today than there used to be. There are a
lot of animals in the world, and there are not enough to take care of them all. Although this career
may not be awesome, easy or even ecstatic. I on the other hand however believe its challenging,
being a vet can be the sweetest job ever chosen. I know that to be a veterinarian I have to go to
schoolfor a long time. Educationfor a veterinarian is very important, the first step in becoming a vet
in the united states is attending undergraduate school. Some undergraduate veterinary college
require applicants to hold only forty five to ninety undergraduate hours? Jose Navarrete states
that you have to have a bachelor degree to be able to go on as a vet. When I realized that you need

vet can be very hard, but also can be fun, you can also get paid very well even if you are in the
least top 10! A veterinarian performs a wide variety of services related to animal health. What job
advancements do veterinarians get? Advancement in the veterinary can bring about many benefits
to an ordinary veterinarian. I did not realize that when you are a vet that you can do private
practices. I believe that when vets need to know their patient better they need to practice on it or
understand it better. Edward Chavez said that according to the bureau of labor statistic, 80% of all
vets work from continuing education to working. Veterinarians need to be able to understand
disorders that are specific to a particular

The Importance Of Group Communication At Cyberbullying
The opportunity to do the group project helped put all of the readings and lectures into
perspective regarding group communication. Cyberbullying can be an intense topic, with people
having different experiences with it. It is also an extremely complex issue with a lot of gray
areas and unknown factors when considering prevention and response. Due to the nature of the
topic of cyberbullying, being able to establish a group process as outlined in class readings and
lectures as quickly as possible would be beneficial. In order to have tough conversations and to
brainstorm efficiently, there must be clear group standards to have the most productive
conversation possible. Through knowledge about groups, awareness of the explicit and implicit
components of them, and the ability to avoid negative group practices allowed our group to
thrive. When group two first met, no one sat at the head of the table, but rather along the sides.
One student explicitly stated, Who wants to take the head chair and be the leader? The lack of
nonverbal leadership led to a few moments of slightly awkward silence as the group questioned
who should initiate the conversation. According to Burgoon s theory of proxemics, the fact that no
one sat at the head of the table completely threw off the traditional dynamics that are usually seen
in groups. In addition, everyone sat in one chair away from one another, keeping the space
personal, but not closer than 18 or so. This highlights what was found with

Impact Of Political And Economic Changes On American...
During the era of 1810 to 1850, many changes took place that shaped our government today. Some
political changes that took place include: the expanding of democracy, voting privileges, eligibility
to hold office requirements, a new constitution, method of choosing presidential electors, the rapid
growth of the electorate, political parties, nullification, the removal of governmental deposits, etc.
An economic change that shaped US government was mainly the industrial revolution. Cultural
changes can be seen in accordance with the political and economic changes, this is because the
people had to adapt to the new changes and it shaped their culture. Their cultural changes were
mainly driven by their wanted virtues of an artistic lifestyle (Brinkley,... Show more content on

The industrial revolution came about because of many variables: progresses in transportation and
communications, the development of manufacturing innovation, the advancement of new
frameworks of business association, and maybe most importantly, increases in population
development. As far as population trends, America became more populous as the years went by.
The population was about 4 million in 1790. By 1820, it had reached 10 million and 17 million by
1840. New developments in public health played an important role in the population growth.
(Brinkley, 222) Railroads were a very efficient way of transportation. They got people and supplies
to places faster than in previous times. The telegraph improved communication. Before the
telegraph, communication over long distances could only happen in person. Without the railroads,
the telegraph would not work because the wires of the telegraph ran along the railroad tracks and
the telegraph offices were usually located in the railroad stations. (Brinkley,

The Jim Crow South As Depicted By Richard Wright And...
In the Jim Crow South as depicted by Richard Wright and Eudora Welty, race is a matter of
visibility. For black southerners, forever under the looming threat of white surveillance, to be
seen is to be to be in danger. While Welty and Wright existed on opposite sides of the white gaze,
the authors make contact as they explore and critique the barrier it created between white and
black southerners, and the violence that resulted from this divide. In Welty s A Curtain of
Green and Wright s Down by the Riverside, the surveyors become the surveyed, and a new
perspective is born that resists the dominance of the white point of view. Welty introduces the
problem of white blindness in A Curtain of Green by placing the white women of Larkin s Hill
in the windows of their houses, fanning and sighing, waiting for the rain (107). These southern
ladies, who occasionally, looked down from their bedroom windows as they studiously brushed
their hair, epitomize the ideals of white southern womanhood that the Jim Crow laws were
supposedly erected to preserve (108). Gazing down from their upstairs windows into Mrs. Larkin
s slanting, tangled garden, these women assume a position of privilege of surveillance (107, 108).
Yet what is significant to the relationship between Mrs. Larkin and her neighbors is not what might
be observed from their elevated vistas, such as her unkempt hair and soil stained overalls, but
rather what her neighbors could not see : the threat of racial

The Influence Of The British African Colonies On The...
With more of an idea of what the inland was like, the powers decided to meet up and split Africa
among themselves. It was at this meeting of nations that Britain (the main English speaking
empire of the time) collected around 20 colonies in Africa. Each of these colonies were operated
under the English language. Additionally, English speaking immigrants flooded these newly
organized colonies. This influx of the English language not only spread the English language, but
it also influenced it. Again the powers that conquered were influenced by the places that they
conquered. The influences that were given by the British African colonies were much more direct
now. Now English had been formed, and they were spoken together with the indigenous
languages. As with Aramaic and Latin, the invading force picked up several words and language
additions. Africa offered a plethora of indigenous languages to influence the English language.
Inland Africa also exposed the English speaking colonists to various things that they had never
witnessed before. For example Zebra was a word with African origins, because to this point the
Europeans had not seen this creature. They took what the locals called it and added it to the
English language. This happened with a lot of words that are now commonly used in the English
language. Banjo, banana, chimpanzee, impala, jazz, jenga, jumbo, safari, tango, tilapia, yam, and
zombie are all examples of African words that were added to the English language.

Analysis Of Half A Day By Naguib Mahfouz
Time was a system created to help us organize our lives, but isn t it just a ticking clock telling us
how much we have left? In order to the get the most out of our lives, we use must use it wisely. In
Half a Day by Naguib Mahfouz, he shows the reader that you must live life because it will quickly
passyou by. He demonstrates this by having the character experience new things, time passing
quickly, and showing evolution. When the young boydoesn t want to go to school, he is forced to
experience something new. As he approaches the new school he is attending his father tells him
Today you truly begin life. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this quote is that the young boy is
trying something new. If he wouldn t push himself to experience this new thing, he wouldn t be
taking advantage and using what all life has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his
father. Because his father is trying to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was
trying to convey that you have to venture out, even if on you own. You have to experience new
things to truly live life before the clock stops ticking and you run out of time. Dry your tears and
face life joyfully. (Mahfouz 86). When one of the woman at the new school make this comment, it
shows the young boy that he has to face life and enjoy it rather than shy away from the new things.
She direct states that you must live joyfully , so that shows me that the author wanted the boy to
realize he must live life

Thus, the analysis should be performed on the basis of religious, political, economic and social
conditions of Pre Islamic Arabia rather than geographical description of the region.
Nevertheless, the desert location of the land played not the last role in the formation of its
radically different social dynamics as compared to Egypt, Iran and other territories. First of all,
Pre Islamic society had no political organization, including the absence of government. The
matter is that Arabs accepted moral authority of their tribe s chief, while any governmental
leaders were not acknowledged. The absence of government meant that Arabs had no order and
law, whereas the behavior of individuals was regulated by victim s decision to bring the
offender to justice, which led to lawlessness and cruelty (Berkey 40; Razwy n.pag.). The
researcher Rodinson in his work states that the free Arabs were bound by no written code of
law, and no state existed to enforce its statutes with the backing of a police force (Rodinson
190.). The factors that interrupted the Arabs from constant violence included the fear of vendetta
and reprisals. Rodinson adds: The only protection for a man s life was the certainty established
by custom, that it would be dearly bought. Blood for blood and a life for a life. The vendetta, tha
r in Arabic, is one of the pillars of Bedouin society (215). Thus, Pre Islamic people s understanding

Transhumanism In The Film Her, By Spike Jonze
While watching the film Her directed by Spike Jonze a common theme that is viewed within this
film is, transhumanism. Transhumanism is the theory that the human race can evidently evolve
beyond its current physical and mental limitations, This can be easily achieved by the
advancements of technology. This is seen when the viewers looked at the relationship between the
protagonist, Theodore Towbly, and his operating system. Transhumanism is also seen when the
director, Spike Jonze, uses simulacra to identify the characters within the film. It is also seen when
the protagonist can not distinguish between the real and simulation.
Firstly within the film Her directed by Spike Jonze transhumanism is seen when Theodore develops

This is seen when humankind has evolved so much that the main character s job is to write
personal letters for other people. Which is very ironic because then this makes these letters
impersonal because the senders are not actually writing these letters themselves but the receiver is
unaware of this. It s also, ironic because the protagonist has a horrible love life, but is writing love
letters for others. Theodores job creates who he is as an individual. He even becomes successful
when Samantha helps him publish a book composed of these letters which he wrote for others.
Another way of using simulacra to express transhumanism is the development of Samantha s
character. After all, the viewer knows she is only an operating system but the ironic part is in which
theodore sees Samantha as a real human being. This is shown when Theodore questions whether
Samantha is faking it during their virtual sexual encounters. Even though Samantha s character is
not real she represent an extremely realistic human companion because she feels emotions, such a
jealousy. Jealousy is seen when Theodore goes and has lunch with Catherine to sign the divorce
paper. Samantha is also receptive to emotions. However, when Theodore asks if she is faking it
theoretically she is faking it because she is not a real human but Theodore believes she is real
because of the world he lives in with all the technological advancements. One thing that the viewer
may see is that Samantha s character does not fully represent simulacra because eventually her a

Skin Grafts
The main reason that skin grafts are conducted is to prevent infection from growing and spreading
throughout the body. In reality, skin grafts increase the patient s possibility of acquiring an
infection. The procedure takes a large area of skin from one side of the body, and creates another
open wound. As a result of this surgery, the patient has two wound sites, which makes him twice as
likely to get an infection. Moreover, the body is put under a tremendous amount of stress because it
is trying to attach new tissue to the surviving tissue at two completely different sites. This causes
the healing process to progress slowly because two wounds require more energy than one.
Traditional skingrafts are also a disadvantage to burn victims with substantial burns covering the
majority of the body. In this situation, there are limited areas of unburned skin that can be
transplanted to the compromised areas.
The most prevalent characteristic associated with skin grafts are gigantic scars that extend over
the length of the wounded area. Scars emerge as a result of the physiologic wound healing process
and may arise following any insult to the deep dermis (Gauglitz, 2014, p. 32). When ... Show more

There are three stages that must ensue for an open area of skin to heal: inflammation, proliferation,
and remodeling. Inflammation occurs at the wound site after the skin s surface is broken. During
this phase, platelet degranulation and activation of the complement and clotting cascades form a
fibrin clot for hemostasis, which acts as a scaffold for wound repair (Gauglitz, 2014, p. 32). Platelet
degranulation is crucial to healing because this process recruits immune cells to attack pathogens
and new epithelial cells to reconstruct the skin

To be able to achieve that goal, hedge funds employ varied strategies. To understand hedge fund,
let s try to understand one of the strategies commonly seen, that is selling short . Let s assume
that we have two securities that are related to each other, that is, their price behaves similarly to
the market conditions. They move in together over time. Let s assume that at some point in
time, they diverge for whatever reason. This divergence is seen as an opportunity to minimize
the risks (or may be greediness!) and make big profits irrespective of how the market is
performing. The hedge fund would buy security that is selling below its normal range, as it is
expected to increase relative to A, and would sell security A short. Short selling (also known as
shorting or going short) is the practice of selling assets, usually securities, that have been borrowed
from a third party (usually a broker) with the intention of buying identical assets back at a later date
to return to the lender.
To understand it even better, let s put some numbers and try to phrase it so that anyone can
understand the concept. Let s consider Beans and Rice, since they are so closely related, we
assume that their price always shows similar trends. Difference between their prices is always a
dollar and beans are always less than rice. For example if rice is 5$ a

Significance Of Silence In Night By Elie Wiesel
Silence!
With nobody to speak out and help those in need, how was Elie Wiesel and his father going to
survive the camps? Elie and his father are apart of a jewish family in the 1940 s. That means
they would be sent to a concentration camp. Hitler is in power and is conducting a genocide
against jews. Throughout the book you notice the theme silence being used. Wiesel wanted his
audience to know that not only were the Jewish people in camps silenced, but the world around
them was silenced as well. He illustrates that nobody spoke out to help the millions of dying
people that were being punished (for no reason) and nobody that was being punished was allowed
to speak out or the punishment worsened. He shows silence in several different ways including
symbolism, foreshadowing, and diction to exemplify the theme in the book Night by Elie Wiesel.
The first time you see silence in Night is when Wiesel foreshadows by saying, Even Moishe the
Beadle had fallen silent. (8). He indicates that silence will be a theme by saying Moishe had fallen
silent after he returned from a camp for immigrant jews. He foreshadows yet again on page 26
when an elderly woman is yelling that she sees a fire. (A fire that later would prove to be the end
of life for some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title Night symbolizes that it was as quiet as night making it dark and gloomy. The title is
the most important part of a book and Elie chose this title very wisely. He was sure that if people
were to read the book they would understand what the title means. Wiesel symbolizes an escape
to a better world when he features Juliek playing his violin on page 95. He plays his violin, not
only breaking the silence but symbolizing a world where people are free to play what they want
and say what they want. A world where everybody is allowed to speak out against what is wrong

an unpleasant moment for Calvin and it goes with the time setting. Throughout every panel of the
comic everything is framed with similar sized rectangles. I think this was framed like this because
Calvin isn t doing any major movement, the main setting throughout the comic is his bed. This

Syntax And Syntax
The task of providing a simple description of a programming language is very difficult but it is
essential to the language s success.
ALGOL 60 and 68 was initially represented using compact formal descriptions; in both scenarios,
however, the description was not clear because they utilized a completely new notation. Hence, both
these languages were not accepted by the developer community. Similarly, few languages have
faced some issues due to different dialects, a result of simple but informal and imprecise description.
The study of programming languages is similar to natural languages. It can be classified into

Semantics is referred to the meaning of words and sentences.
Mostly semantics studies the understanding of each word and creates the sentences in the form of

Semantics offers a framework for easy understanding and analyses the fundamental requirement of
languages.

Syntax refers in different way of symbols that combined to create well formed sentences in the

Christ of the Holy Bible and Dionysus of Euripides Essay
Christ of the Holy Bible and Dionysus of Euripides
Christ resembles Dionysus in many ways. Is it possible that Christ is simply an extension of the
Dionysian myth? Though the concepts of wine and faith unite the two, the idea of revenge
compared to self sacrifice separates the two deities. Dionysus fits the Greek understanding of
vengeful and selfish God that bear more anthropomorphic traits than Godly traits. Christ, however,
transcends human desires for revenge and acts in self sacrifice. This is the key separation between
them.
The similarity between the two Gods is striking. Dionysus is associated with wine and revelry.
Christ forever associated himself with wine and celebration through the act of Communion and the

It is said that before he died he cried out, It is finished. The last words that the chorus speaks echo
the same thought. It is finished. That is not the only surprising thing. The Bible tells of God s
struggle to find a way to salvage the relationship with his children. The last line of the Bacchae
reverberates the concept of the Godly struggle to find the right action.
The motives of Dionysus are extremely perplexing to a modern audience. I will go; for that which
fate forbids, can never befall me. For this thy mockery be sure Dionysus will exact a recompense
of thee even the god whose existence thou deniest; for thou art injuring him by haling me to prison
(Euripides 28).
John 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes
in him shall not perish but have eternal life. The quote from the Bacchae is rooted in Dionysus s
individual desire for revenge upon those who snubbed him by not believing in him. Nowhere in
the text is Dionysus noted for performing any large acts of self sacrifice. The story of Jesus, on
the other hand is based in self sacrifice. According to John 3:16, Christ allowed himself to die on
the cross to take on the pain of every person in the world. The contrast in motivations between the
two divinities is startling whether or not one believes either to be truth.
Jesus is reputed to have

Discretion-Related Validity
Essentially, there are a variation of methods to record the job relatedness and precision of a test as
a decision making device, however, a working comprehension of validation should focus on some
general types of validation. According to Heneman, Judge, and Kammeyer ВMueller (2012, p. 335)
Validity is defined as the degree to which a test measures what it is supposed to measure. All the
more, the differences among face validity, construct validity and criterion related validity are as
follows:
Face Validity:
Face validity pertains to whether the test looks valid to the examinees who take it (Niche

Criterion Related Validity is the extent to which a test or questionnaire predicts some future or
desired outcome, for example work behaviour or on the job performance. This validity has
obvious importance in personnel selection, recruitment and development. Whenever possible, the
statistical evaluation of the relationship between selection measures and valued business
outcomes is desirable. This type of validation is known as criterion related validation and it can
provide concrete evidence of the accuracy of a test for predicting job performance. Criterion
validation involves a statistical study that provides hard evidence of the relationship between
scores on pre employment assessments and valued business outcomes related to job performance.
The statistical evidence resulting from this process provides a clear understanding of the ROI
provided by the testing process and thus helps document the value provided. Criterion related
validation also provides support for the legal defensibility of an assessment because it clarifies the
assessment s accuracy as a decision making tool. While criterion related validation may seem
mysterious, it has much in common with two more well known concepts that are used to help find
value within business processes: six sigma and business intelligence. Both of these methods require
that data be examined in order to help clarify relations between various process components. The
resulting information can be used to help streamline business processes and uncover meaningful
relationships between various streams of data. The creation of a feedback loop using criterion
validation is really no different (Handler, 2009).Criterion related validity is the ability of a test to

Erik Erikson s Theory Of The Psychosocial Development
Ashley is six year old and she is in first grade. Base on Erikson s theory, she is in stage 4 :
Industry vs. Inferiority. Industry versus inferiority is the fourth stage of Erik Erikson s theory
of the psychosocial development. The stage occurs during childhood between the ages of six
and eleven. Children at this stage, are learning to read and write, to do sums, to do things on
their own. Teachers and coaches begin to take an important role in the child s life as they teach
the child specific skills. Ashley told Billy that she loves her first grade class. She explained to
Billy that she learned to count by 5 and 10. Also she is able to read books to herself. She cannot
wait to read the princess book series that Billy bought for her. School and social interaction play
an important role during this time of a child s life. Through social interactions, children begin to
develop a sense of pride in their accomplishments and abilities. During the earlier stages, a child s
interactions centered primarily on caregivers, family members and others in their immediate
household. As the school years begin, the realm of social influence increases dramatically.
Friends and classmates play a role in how children progress through the industry versus inferiority
stage. Billy need to know that, at this stage, the child s peer group will gain greater significance
and will become a major source of the child s self esteem. The child now feels the need to win

Joshua 1:9
The purpose of this paper is to tell you what I think is the meaning of this bible verse/passage.
Most people miss interpret Joshua 1:9 because they think it is a literal thing. That is a legit literal
thing. That even if we walk into a bar he will be there with us. Which I don t personally believe is
the case.
If we check with history, most of the book of Joshua was written by Joshua himself, after the four
hundred years of the Israelites living in Egypt, and after the forty years of the Israelites living in
the desert.
When looking through five specific versions of the bible, you will find that the phrase the Lord
your God (New Living Translation, Josh. 1.9) is said in every one of the versions. When you
research some more you find out that the phrase the Lord your God (New Living Translation, Josh
1.9) is also the opening line of the Ten Commandments. The name for God used in the opening of
the Ten Commandments is YHWH Elohim, which means god.
The introduction of the Ten Commandments sets forward the identity of God. The pattern and

Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (New

can be applicable to Christians today. In one sense, the promise in this passage was specific to
Joshua s role as leader of the Israelites as he took them into the Promised Land. Joshua had a
tremendous task to fulfill after the death of Moses the responsibility of leading an entire nation
into a new land. God s words of boldness and encouragement served as an important message to
strengthen Joshua as the leader of God s people. While the promise that God would be with Joshua

The Cost Of An Education
The cost of an education in America has steadily increased over the last decade making it near
impossible for some to even dream of furthering their education. We have placed such a big
significance on this piece of paper that even with the experience in hand you may not even be
looked at for a job without a degree. On the same note you may receive a glance but miss the
opportunity because of a lack of experience. A person must sit back and think will the rewards of
furthering my education outweigh the cost and future financial burden. During the year 2014
2015 the standard cost of tuition in a two Year Institution, for one year of college with room and
board would cost you $10,837. Want to go to a four Year Institution? Try $23,600, a year for
tuition, room and board. This is over $7,000 more than the cost 10 years ago for a four year
institution and $3,700 more than a two year institution. In the years to come the cost of continuing
education will stay on the path of increase, the project cost of education in 2029 will be $102,900
for a public university (Statistic Brain Research Institute, 2015). What is driving this cost? What are
we paying for? At a public two year institution, the tuition is approximately 19 percent of the total
price; while a public four year institution it is approximately 40 percent. Remember, the cost of fees,
books, housing, supplies, transportation and personal expenses are not included in this 40 percent

How Did Geography Affect Where Colonists Settled Essay
Beginning in 1607, when ambitious English colonists settled in Jamestown, and continuing until
the last of the thirteen colonies was established; geography was a substantial factor in the
development of colonial America. The crops that essentially saved the colonists lives, such as
tobacco, rice, and indigo, wouldn t have grown without a certain type and amount of soil to grow
properly. Also, the Appalachian Mountains and the dense forests provided a barrier for the
colonists, preventing them from going too far west right away, and causing the colonies to form in
the arrangement they did. Finally, the population was the most dense in middle colonies, such as

This, in turn, made it so that the population were more dense, and there was a higher
concentration of people. The dense forests of the eastern seaboard disallowed for large cities to
be created right away. This geological factor forced colonists to spread out within the perimeters
of the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, without being too close together. Both of
these factors could be overlooked easily enough, but did have a reasonable impact of the
development of colonial America. Finally, the geography of the middle colonies, such as New
York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania played a big role on the development and
population of this area. In the sixteen and seventeen hundreds, the above colonies were the most
populated of the thirteen establishments. There was plentiful and fertile soil, in which tobacco
was heavily grown. The Susquehanna River also flowed through this region, opening the
possibility of fur trade. Other minor rivers that were found in the middle colonies were gentle,
which provided for easy transportation and fishing. The land in the middle colonies was broad
and expansive, making it easy for even the middle class residents to create an enjoyable and
profitable lifestyle. In conclusion, there were many factors that contributed to the development of
the colonial America, but geography was clearly a sizable influence. If the geography of America

To me swimming is a team sport. While I was Co Captain of the swim team, I made the focus of
the year on being a supportive and encouraging teammate. I did not want the girls to only think
about themselves, but to think of the team. Swimming is unique because the team is seventh grade

to be someone they could talk to and someone that inspires them.
Another impact swimming had on me was it showed some traits that I did not know I had. During
swimming I learned how determined and hard working I can be. During my senior year I suffered

Economic Performance And Its Impact On Financial Performance
Economic performance is whether the company strategy and its execution have contributed to the

How two factor authentication works
The two step verification process in 2FA, often uses a combination of two of the following three
identification factors: 1. The Knowledge Factor:
This is something that only the user knows. It could be a password, a PIN, or an unlock pattern
that the user must enter, before accessing an account. Using this factor of identification alone is not
very secure. 2. The Possession Factor:
This is something that the user has, such as a device that can receive or generate a unique one

could be a mobile phone that receives an OTP via an SMS or voice call, or it could be a physical
hardware device such as a key fob that generates the code. An authenticator software could also be

The Atkins Diet Essay
The Atkins Diet, a high protein, high fat, low carbohydrate diet was introduced in 1972 by Dr.
Robert C. Atkins, MD. Dr. Atkins believed that a diet high in sugar forced the pancreas to
produce the hormone insulin, causing the body to store calories as fat. He believed that if we
consumed fewer carbohydrates, then our bodies would produce less insulin. By doing so, our
bodies would use stored fat for energy, resulting in weight loss. (1) The Atkins Diet consists of
four phases. The first phase, referred to as the Induction Phase, lasts for a period of two weeks.
During this phase, the dieter has to severely restrict their carbohydrate intake to twenty grams per
day. This restriction is necessary for the body to enter ketosis.... Show more content on

phase once their weight loss goals are met. Dieters are allowed to eat more carbohydrates,
however only enough that will not cause them to gain weight. Breads and other starchy foods
will always be severely restricted. This phase is meant to last a lifetime, and Dr. Atkins claims
that eating like this causes people to become much healthier and reduces their chances of
chronic diseases. (2) Certain types of foods are permitted while on The Atkins Diet . Most
protein rich foods that have little to no carbohydrates are allowed such as meats, seafood, and
eggs. Cheeses are allowed, however the dieter needs to read the food labels to be sure that they
do not contain a large amount of carbohydrates. Fats and oils are recommended but the dieter
needs to make sure that they do not include any which contain Tran s fats. Virgin or extra virgin
olive oils are highly recommended. For frying purposes, the dieter should use canola, peanut or

Pew Charitable Trust Report
According to a Pew Charitable Trust report, more than half of Americans have less than one
month of income saved in case of emergency. This is in direct contradiction to the advice given
by most financial experts to have at least three to six months living expenses on hand for
unexpected situations, such as a job loss. It is interesting to note that all levels of income had the
same lack of savings; therefore, it is not necessarily a problem with the amount of income, but
instead with an inability to save. So, in order to get the nation where it should be in terms of
savings, there should be a great emphasis on educating the average American on how to go about
creating a savings. Make an Effort: There is an old adage that says that if someone

Disruptive Behavior Examples
Disruptive behavior
The Ontario College of Physicians and surgeons defined the disruptive behavior as inappropriate
conduct, whether in words or action, that interferes with, or has the potential to interfere with,
quality health care delivery. Disruptive doctors, nurses and most of healthcare employees are found
in almost all hospitals and clinics. Although most observers noticed that only 6% of physicians fall
into this category, the influence of this small percent far outweighs their percentage. Examples of
disruptive behavior are various and includes, shouting, verbal threat, angry outbursts ,throwing

The factors are either endogenous related to the individual or exogenous related to the work
environment. Certain personalities are associated with disrespectful behavior. Self esteem is
extremely important to doctors as it is very related to doctors` perception of their own reputation
and competence. The reason for this is doctors usually spend a huge amount of time and energy
to achieve a great success and reputation so they become more sensitive to anything that may
endanger their self esteem or success. Doctors might react with aggressive personal behavior, if
anyone directly or indirectly tries to touch their self esteem, as a way to confirm their professional
dominance. They could feel insecurity and anxiety especially if they felt that they are prone to
challenges of practicing medicine. Doctors or any healthcare professionals who do not feel
confident about their skills may reflect this anxiety to the coworkers around him in terms of
blaming others or making hypercritical comments. In fact they might overreact blaming themselves
for real or unreal inadequacy, hypercriticize themselves or others. The huge amount of energy and
time doctors spend to succeed professionally make physicians self involved and become
vulnerable to narcissistic character traits. In fact medical narcissism is term used to reflect feeling
of being superior and perfectionism are usually found in healthcare professionals. They believes
that their ideas are special. Due to the acceptance of the teamwork value , this makes physician

My Personal Reasoning For Choosing Nursing
Becoming a nurse offers a great opportunity to improve the way an individual s thoughts process,
by converting from a creative thinker to a critical thinker. This facilitates the general care levels
of people and gives a positive atmosphere in the environment. In this essay I will explain and
describe my personal reasoning s for choosing nursing as a career; the skills, qualities and
inspirations that I have obtained throughout my life which have influenced me. Also describing the
importance and benefits of reflective practice for nurses, discussing how I will use it in my career
as a nurse. Nursing, for me specifically is the perfect career which suits what I would enjoy and
last in as a lifetime occupation. Influences through family and friends have given me a great idea
of what nursing is like in hospitals and age care facilities, I have been educated to constantly
provide and offer others care and aid towards the people around me. Providing this type of
positive atmosphere delivers a constructive build on my self motivation and self confidence, this
is fulfilling and exciting to me. Another reason that has motivated myself to pursue in the career
of nursing is that it offers a perfect opportunity to make a huge difference in other people s lives.

Feminist Theory
Feminism refers to political, cultural, and economic movements aimed at establishing greater
rights, legal protection for women, and or women s liberation. It includes some of the sociological
theories and philosophies concerned with issues of gender difference. Nancy Cott defines feminism
as the belief in the importance of genderequality, invalidating the idea of gender hierarchy as a
socially constructed concept.
Feminism has earned itself a bad reputation, but it never undermined gender differences that exist
between males and females. A man can never be as good a mother as a female can. Similarly, a
woman can never be as good a father as a male can. While accepting these anatomical and
physiological differences between the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They challenge the assumption that gender oppression is the primary force of patriarchy. They
object to portrayals of women of non Western societies as passive and voiceless victims and the
portrayal of Western women as modern, educated, and empowered.
Today, they struggle to fight gender oppression within their own cultural models of society rather
than through those imposed by the Western colonizers. They, thus, react against both universalizing
tendencies in Western feminist thought and a lack of attention to gender issues in mainstream
postcolonial thought.
Some postcolonial feminists, such as Chandra Talpade Mohanty and Black feminists, such as
Angela Davis and Alice Walker, are critical of Western feminism for being ethnocentric. Chandra
Talpade Mohanty criticizes Western feminism on the ground that it does not take into account the
unique experiences of women from third world countries or the existence of feminisms indigenous
to third world countries. This discourse is strongly related to African feminism and is also
associated with concepts such as black feminism, womanism, Africana womanism, motherism,
Stiwanism, negofeminism, chicana feminism, and femalism.
Pro feminism is the support of feminism without implying that the supporter is a member of the
feminist movement. The term is most often used in reference to men who are actively

culture is described as a company s personality or DNA. (Education Portal) has defined
organisational culture as a system of shared assumptions, values, and beliefs, which governs how
people behave in organizations . There are seven dimensions or characteristics of organisational
culture. The Organisational Culture Profile (OCP) is one of many typologies that businesses use,
to help them not only to describe its culture, but also identify, measure and managing it more

Pagodes, Pour Le Piano, And The Javanese Gamelan
1889 was the year where Claude Debussy became particularly interested in Javanese Gamelan.
Northern European musicians constantly searched for new and exotic sound worlds, different to
the Nineteenth Century German Romanticism from which they were trying to move away. It was
when Debussy visited the 1889 Paris Universal Exposition that he became intrigued with the
exhibit from Java, (an island in the Malay Archipelago). The Java exhibit was a model village
which presented many aspects of the communal village life whereby Gamelanplayed one of the
main roles in the religious and social areas. Javanese Gamelan, consisting of a collection of
instruments, mostly metallic with gong or bell like sounds caused enthusiasm and excitement
among the European musicians, due to its well developed, powerful and beautiful style that had
complete uniqueness and broke all rules of what music could and should be. Robert Godet (a
friend of Debussy) remarked that many fruitful hours were spent in the Javanese Kampong
(Village) . Debussy was said to be captivated with Gamelan, listening to the Percussive rhythmic
complexities and its inexhaustible combinations of celestial, flashing timbres. Amidst Debussy s
works, Pagodes , Pour Le Piano and L isle Joyeuse , incorporate into their pieces numerous aspects
of Javanese Gamelan, whether it be the interlocking patterns between the left and right hand, or
using melodies influenced by the Slendro pentatonic scale. The Pastiche orientalism of

Finding a Neuromuscular Dentist
Neuromuscular dentists are not only concerned with the health of the teeth and gums, but with
entire system that allows us to chew, swallow and speak. The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is
the system of joints and muscles that allows us to open and close our mouths. Misalignment of this
system can lead to many painful symptoms.
Our practice focuses on finding the most harmonious position for the TMJ and the surrounding
tissues. Proper occlusion, or a good bite , is achieved by finding the optimal resting position of the
jaw. This will allow the rest of the body to align properly, and will help relieve painful symptoms.

How Social Networks Can Help You Professionally
In my opinion I feel that information technology can assist me in various ways but mainly in my
social, educational and professional future by helping me looking for other jobs that I was not
aware of that were hiring or resources as in knowing what is going on in the today world. It can
help me out educationally so I would be able to be updated with the new homework assignment in
college or what is for lunch and even events afterschool. Professionally it would be able to help me
when I would not know if the business I work at is going good and escalating proficiently or
about to go bankrupt and have no job or even get paid. The internet is very helpful I feel that if
there was no computer or internet it would be very hard for people to get jobs or get notified
about an opening if they have no telephone to contact the company. So that is why it is always good
to have some type of informational technology.
Generally, the social network is rationally gossip only, but there are some networks where people
put together presentations for jobs and post pictures, let people know about openings, and
sometimes help people out with personal problems. Many articles on the social network are hard
to believe but there are times where you do not want to believe what you read because it is so sad
and astonishing that people would do those particular things to each other and have no remorse.
Social media such as the TV, radio, and volunteers notify many communities to come together when

Savagery In Macbeth And Lord Of The Flies, By William Golding
Humans are still animals and we still have animal instincts. The underlying connection I found
between the four texts I read was the theme we all have savagery in us and when the rules are
removed it takes over . I believe everyone has savagery deep within and that when put in tough or
uncivilized situations it can come out. We almost turn into animals and often resort to our fight or
flight instinct, just like in the texts. I found this connection between these 4 texts: the play
Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the short story The Wasteland by Alan Paton, Gone written by
Michael Grant and Lord of the Flies by William Golding. We can see the symbolism for inner
savagery through the creatures The Darkness and The beastie in the books... Show more content on

The short story The Wasteland by Alan Paton show the theme of we all have savagery in us but
when the rules are removed it takes over because when he becomes surrounded he resorts to his
animal instinct. The short story is about a man who has just left what I perceive to be a civilized
city and has gone through big metal gates into the wasteland. We can see aspects of the theme in
the quote So trapped was he that he was filled suddenly with strength and anger. The quote is an
example of him acting on his animal instincts. We can see a connection between this and The
lord of the flies because in The Lord of the Flies when Simon gives the boys a fright they lash out
and go into attack mode because they feel threatened. Both these example link back to the theme
as they both are showing people inner savagery and animalistic instincts taking over during a
time where there are no rules. We can also see that in The Wasteland they use his stick as a
metaphor for the savagery that lurks within him and is always with him but only when the bus
which symbolising the rules leaves he starts to see it as a option. The quote Something caught him
by the leg, and he brought his stick crashing down on it shows that he finally unleashes all his
anger and heartless inhumanity. This is a lot like The Lord of the Flies in that Jack always has a
knife with him and he becomes that

Examples Of Leadership In Remember The Titans
In the movie Remember the Titans, coaches Yoast and Boone demonstrate leadership through the
three leadership styles; authoritarian, democratic and laissez faire. Authoritarian Authoritarian
leadership style is where a leader has complete control and power over their team. They
demonstrate their power and control by dictating policies and procedures, deciding what goals
need to be achieved, and directs all activities to be done by the team. An authoritarian is usually
most successful when things are going well or when in a crisis and decisions need to be made
quickly. Democratic Democratic leadership style is where the leaders and members work together

The leader is also influential to the team. Leadership factors in Remember the Titans the
leaderships styles of coach Boone and coach Yoast were suited to the team and worked well with

factors in Remember the Titans everyone on the team had the same motivation and desire to
win and succeed. They were brought together by said motivations and desires. To be a cohesive
unit and a great team the Titans would have to learn to trust and respect each other. They would
have to overcome their racial issues and differences. Coach Boone implements strategies in his
attempt to bring the team together as a cohesive unit. These strategies include: Coach Boone
sets up a training camp in which every player is required to go. This camp was set up in order
for the team to get to know each other and become closer. When getting on the buses for the
departure for the camp coach Boone realised that the whites and blacks were split up and on
different buses. Boone came up with a strategy to get the players closer by making them sit next to

The Saq Is A Computer Based Assessment Consisting Of 128...
The SAQ is a computer based assessment consisting of 128 Likert items on a five point scale.
The results of sixteen dimensions are then grouped under four major domains of stress: sources,
symptoms, strategies, and stability. The test taker will then see the scores on a ten point scale
under each of the four main groups. In other words, the test is scored into four different
subscales once it is completed. However, it is important to note that in the test manual there are
five different subscales instead of four. This is because the SAQ that is administered online
omitted the subscale of personality. (Athanasou, Journal of Psychosomatic Research ) The SAQ
is available online and anyone can purchase the test for 14.95 but the test is intended for persons
aged 16 65. The SAQ has a rather large normative sample consisting of 5,000 international women
and 5,000 international men. The individuals had a mean age of 34 and had over 70 different
occupations that were represented in the sample. However, the occupational fields of Education,
Healthcare, and Government were over represented in the sample. (Athanasou, Journal of
Psychosomatic Research ) The reliability of the SAQ may require further evidence. The alpha
coefficients were calculated and ranged from .60 to .94. Due to the low alpha coefficients it is
difficult to determine the reliability of this test. However, alpha coefficients are only used to
measure the internal consistency of a test and does not refer to

Abstract Western Blotting can be used to detect the Myosin actin light chain in different species of
fish and is used to distinguish from different species based on variation, commonality, or
evolutionary divergence. First, proteins are extracted from the tissue and loaded into a gel matrix.
The matrix will separate the proteins according to size using an electric current. Proteins that are

The Garden Of Forking Paths, By Jorge Luis Borges
After reading the lecture and the short stores by Jorge Luis Borges, one can able to conclude that
we are surrounded by criminal activities. In every culture, region or country there are some sort of
criminal activities more over the same type of crimes that occurs. In Latin America the crime rates
were significantly high in the past and still continues in the 21st century. Each of these stories
written by the author Jorge Luis Borges carries some kind of connection in Latin America.

I can also say that this story can connect with most detectives regardless of culture or location. The
scenarios in which was described in the short story can connect to individuals who are investigators
who then eventually becomes the victims of their own work. For example, I ve heard factual
information where a detective has been killed by the perpetrator for investigating a crime. I believe
that this story deals with revenge of an officer. The perpetrator Scharlach wanted to get revenge for
his brother who was arrested by the detective and then later died in prison. From that, I was able to
form another conclusion. In Latin America, gang members usually look out for each other. With
that said, when one is hurt, killed, died, revenge sets into place.
After reading the short story, Borges and I , I was able to interpret a theme of identity. The plot
surprise is that the narrator discusses himself as if he is two separate persons: I and The other
one, the one called Borges. This can possible relates to Latin America violence to those who
commits crime. They can either defined themselves as two different persons for the purpose of self

  • 2. Joey, And All Other Animals I would say Joey is the main character of the play. Joey, and all other animals, is a large wooden puppet, which is played by a group of people. Joey is played by Tom Gilbey, Michael Humphreys, and Tom Larkin. There is a person for his head, a person for his heart and a person for his hind. They work very well together making, Joey move and sound like he is a real horse. The actors operating Joey are dressed in brown clothing and wearing flat caps, this is so that they could blend in with Joey. They can still be clearly seen but the puppets are so realistic we, the audience, forget they are not really a horse and the actors soon blend into the background. The way the actors were standing depended on Joey s actions and his mood. If Joey... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The difference in Joey and Topthorn, could have been used to highlight Joey s innocence, and by doing this it make the audience feel sympathy towards Joey. I believe that the puppets were used so that they can re invent the ordinary and make the audience feel sympathy towards an inanimate object that was doing things that it wasn t meant or designed to do. Albert Narracott, played by Lee Armstrong, is also a significant character in the play. He is Joey s owner and a 16 year old boy. He changes throughout the play, starting out as a young, naГЇve boy, but he turns into someone more obsessive when looking for Joey and joining the army. At the start of the play, Albert was wearing a turn of the century agricultural labour clothing, with a hat. This changed when he joined the army, and was wearing a soldier s uniform to show his transition from a farmhand in rural Britain to a soldier. Albert was a quite mature 16 years old and this could be because of Ted his father. Ted Narracott, played by Steven Hillman, is Albert s father. He is also a drunk and he owns the farm. He has many problems, which include being an alcoholic and a gambler. Ted is an integral character, because without him, Joey wouldn t have come to the Narracott family, and in turn wouldn t have been sent off into the war. Ted is a contrast to his ... • 3. Prairie Vole Observation In this experimental study, Robinson, Myers, Hofer, Shair, and Welch look at the way in which Prairie Vole pups may show companion preference for their mothers (the dam) over their fathers (the sire) primarily through the increase rate of vocal cues (potentiation) they exhibit after being separated from the dam. Two main experiments were conducted in this study, the main difference being that in one (Experiment 1) the vole parents were drugged and inactive during reunions with the pups, whereas in the second (Experiment 2) the parents were not drugged, and were active during the reunion with the pups. In both of these experiments, the pup was first placed in an isolation test cage, followed by a reunion with either the dam, sire, two litter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although it is currently hypothetical, I see not accounting for this possibility as a potential weakness in the study. I know we said in class that psychologists try to stay away from sex difference studies, but lets say in Experiment 2 everything was the same, except instead of the actual dam of the pup, we replaced her with a random female vole. If the pups still showed potentiation in response to be separating form the random female and not the sire there might be something to be said about females voles naturally adopting the primary caregiver role and/or pups naturally eliciting a stronger emotional connection to ... • 4. Job Automation Advantages One of the biggest controversies with the advancement of artificial intelligence is the debate on job automation. Many people believe that artificial intelligence will advance to become better than humans and replace humans in most jobs. The opposite belief is that AI will be used to improve the standard of living and will be a tool to support humans, not replace them. Job automation has many benefits such as performing more dangerous jobs and complete tasks that humans do not desire to do. Even though job automation has benefits, there are many people who believe robots will take over the job market and the unemployment rate will skyrocket. There are multiple supporting factors for each side of the job automation debate, but the argument will never be settled until AI is further advanced and utilized. The main key points of the side that support the advancement of job automation is that AI will improve the standard of living, lower the prices of products, and encourage people to get higher education. As job automation progresses, so does the standard of living. The largest sector of the job industry that will be affected by job automation is the service sector, manufacturing, and many other jobs that do not require higher education. Since robots will replace these lower paying jobs that do not require much skill, the quality of life will increase. One negative effect is that there are numerous people that hold these positions in the lower paying industry that will lose ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Techniques Used by Clarinet Players Technique is very important for all musicians of all types, especially for Clarinet players. Many of the techniques are vital for a great musician to understand. Things such as embouchure, vibrato and tone effects are all things that are required by the musician. I will be investigating the embouchure and how a correct one will substantially increase your prowess as a woodwind, particularly clarinet, player. The clarinet is a woodwind instrument that has a single reed mouthpiece. Johann Christoph Denner invented the clarinet in Germany around the turn of the 18th century by adding a register key to the earlier Chalumea. Having a correct embouchure is vitally important to playing woodwind instruments. Structure 1.Embouchure. 2.Different types of embouchures in different people. 3.Research into different kinds of embouchure and how other people do it. 4.Synthesis of why it is very important to have an good embouchure. With the woodwinds, the sound is generated by a reed and not with the lips. The embouchure is therefore based on sealing the area around the reed and the mouthpiece. This makes sure that there is no air escaping from either side of the mouthpiece when the musician is blowing. A reed instrument works by having the musician blowing a steady breath of air over the reed and through the mouthpiece. The vibrations of the reed are what produce the sound that makes up the notes. The harder or stronger the air is passing over the reed the higher the pitch of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Effects of Monopolies in the Usa Economy The effects of monopolies on the U.S. Economy What is a monopoly? The concept of a monopoly is largely misunderstood and the mere mention of the term evokes lots of emotions that make clear judgment almost impossible. The standard economic and social case for or against monopolistic businesses is no longer straightforward. According to Mankiw (2009) a monopoly is defined as a market structure characterized by a single seller of a unique product with no close substitutes[1]. When a business dominates a market, it becomes a monopoly by virtue of its power. A company (or a group of affiliated companies) is considered to have a dominant position in a particular market if it exerts a decisive influence over the general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Haas, 2006) Citizens of The United States value competition in their market system. Competition not only keeps prices low and encourages production of new products to the market place but also fosters innovations that help to bring down the cost of doing business. Contrary to popular belief, monopolies are not illegal in the United States .Indeed a government created monopoly is exemplified by the patent and copyright law. This is a law that governs intellectual property. A pharmaceutical company that develops an original drug can patent it for several years during which it enjoys exclusive production rights. Such a patent offers the producer monopoly status where the producer can charge higher prices and earn greater profits. On the other hand, such a law is beneficial because it encourages innovation and continuous research within pharmaceutical companies to develop new and more superior products. Moreover only big monopolies with significant market power have the capacity to carry out research and development on their products. This leads to innovation since new knowledge is applied to the production process. The nearly twenty year monopoly enjoyed by Microsoft in manufacturing of its computer software has not only ensured harmony and uniformity in computer software but also facilitated accessibility of computers by the greater population. Consequently, this has lead to the information technology revolution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are a lot of animals in the world, and there are not enough to take care of them all. Although this career may not be awesome, easy or even ecstatic. I on the other hand however believe its challenging, being a vet can be the sweetest job ever chosen. I know that to be a veterinarian I have to go to schoolfor a long time. Educationfor a veterinarian is very important, the first step in becoming a vet in the united states is attending undergraduate school. Some undergraduate veterinary college require applicants to hold only forty five to ninety undergraduate hours? • 10. The Importance Of Group Communication At Cyberbullying The opportunity to do the group project helped put all of the readings and lectures into perspective regarding group communication. Cyberbullying can be an intense topic, with people having different experiences with it. It is also an extremely complex issue with a lot of gray areas and unknown factors when considering prevention and response. Due to the nature of the topic of cyberbullying, being able to establish a group process as outlined in class readings and lectures as quickly as possible would be beneficial. In order to have tough conversations and to brainstorm efficiently, there must be clear group standards to have the most productive conversation possible. Through knowledge about groups, awareness of the explicit and implicit components of them, and the ability to avoid negative group practices allowed our group to thrive. When group two first met, no one sat at the head of the table, but rather along the sides. One student explicitly stated, Who wants to take the head chair and be the leader? The lack of nonverbal leadership led to a few moments of slightly awkward silence as the group questioned who should initiate the conversation. According to Burgoon s theory of proxemics, the fact that no one sat at the head of the table completely threw off the traditional dynamics that are usually seen in groups. In addition, everyone sat in one chair away from one another, keeping the space personal, but not closer than 18 or so. This highlights what was found with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New developments in public health played an important role in the population growth. (Brinkley, 222) Railroads were a very efficient way of transportation. They got people and supplies to places faster than in previous times. The telegraph improved communication. Before the telegraph, communication over long distances could only happen in person. • 12. The Jim Crow South As Depicted By Richard Wright And... In the Jim Crow South as depicted by Richard Wright and Eudora Welty, race is a matter of visibility. For black southerners, forever under the looming threat of white surveillance, to be seen is to be to be in danger. While Welty and Wright existed on opposite sides of the white gaze, the authors make contact as they explore and critique the barrier it created between white and black southerners, and the violence that resulted from this divide. In Welty s A Curtain of Green and Wright s Down by the Riverside, the surveyors become the surveyed, and a new perspective is born that resists the dominance of the white point of view. Welty introduces the problem of white blindness in A Curtain of Green by placing the white women of Larkin s Hill in the windows of their houses, fanning and sighing, waiting for the rain (107). These southern ladies, who occasionally, looked down from their bedroom windows as they studiously brushed their hair, epitomize the ideals of white southern womanhood that the Jim Crow laws were supposedly erected to preserve (108). Gazing down from their upstairs windows into Mrs. Larkin s slanting, tangled garden, these women assume a position of privilege of surveillance (107, 108). Yet what is significant to the relationship between Mrs. Larkin and her neighbors is not what might be observed from their elevated vistas, such as her unkempt hair and soil stained overalls, but rather what her neighbors could not see : the threat of racial ... • 14. The Influence Of The British African Colonies On The... With more of an idea of what the inland was like, the powers decided to meet up and split Africa among themselves. It was at this meeting of nations that Britain (the main English speaking empire of the time) collected around 20 colonies in Africa. Each of these colonies were operated under the English language. Additionally, English speaking immigrants flooded these newly organized colonies. This influx of the English language not only spread the English language, but it also influenced it. Again the powers that conquered were influenced by the places that they conquered. The influences that were given by the British African colonies were much more direct now. Now English had been formed, and they were spoken together with the indigenous languages. As with Aramaic and Latin, the invading force picked up several words and language additions. Africa offered a plethora of indigenous languages to influence the English language. Inland Africa also exposed the English speaking colonists to various things that they had never witnessed before. For example Zebra was a word with African origins, because to this point the Europeans had not seen this creature. They took what the locals called it and added it to the English language. This happened with a lot of words that are now commonly used in the English language. Banjo, banana, chimpanzee, impala, jazz, jenga, jumbo, safari, tango, tilapia, yam, and zombie are all examples of African words that were added to the English language. ... In order to the get the most out of our lives, we use must use it wisely. In Half a Day by Naguib Mahfouz, he shows the reader that you must live life because it will quickly passyou by. He demonstrates this by having the character experience new things, time passing quickly, and showing evolution. When the young boydoesn t want to go to school, he is forced to experience something new. As he approaches the new school he is attending his father tells him Today you truly begin life. (Mahfouz 85). The significance of this quote is that the young boy is trying something new. If he wouldn t push himself to experience this new thing, he wouldn t be taking advantage and using what all life has to offer. Go in by yourself. (Mahfouz 85) says his father. Because his father is trying to push him to do new things, this shows that the author was trying to convey that you have to venture out, even if on you own. You have to experience new things to truly live life before the clock stops ticking and you run out of time. Dry your tears and face life joyfully. (Mahfouz 86). When one of the woman at the new school make this comment, it shows the young boy that he has to face life and enjoy it rather than shy away from the new things. She direct states that you must live joyfully , so that shows me that the author wanted the boy to realize he must live life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus, the analysis should be performed on the basis of religious, political, economic and social conditions of Pre Islamic Arabia rather than geographical description of the region. Nevertheless, the desert location of the land played not the last role in the formation of its radically different social dynamics as compared to Egypt, Iran and other territories. First of all, Pre Islamic society had no political organization, including the absence of government. The matter is that Arabs accepted moral authority of their tribe s chief, while any governmental leaders were not acknowledged. The absence of government meant that Arabs had no order and law, whereas the behavior of individuals was regulated by victim s decision to bring the offender to justice, which led to lawlessness and cruelty (Berkey 40; Razwy n.pag.). The researcher Rodinson in his work states that the free Arabs were bound by no written code of law, and no state existed to enforce its statutes with the backing of a police force (Rodinson 190.). The factors that interrupted the Arabs from constant violence included the fear of vendetta and reprisals. Rodinson adds: The only protection for a man s life was the certainty established by custom, that it would be dearly bought. Blood for blood and a life for a life. • 19. Skin Grafts The main reason that skin grafts are conducted is to prevent infection from growing and spreading throughout the body. In reality, skin grafts increase the patient s possibility of acquiring an infection. The procedure takes a large area of skin from one side of the body, and creates another open wound. As a result of this surgery, the patient has two wound sites, which makes him twice as likely to get an infection. Moreover, the body is put under a tremendous amount of stress because it is trying to attach new tissue to the surviving tissue at two completely different sites. This causes the healing process to progress slowly because two wounds require more energy than one. Traditional skingrafts are also a disadvantage to burn victims with substantial burns covering the majority of the body. In this situation, there are limited areas of unburned skin that can be transplanted to the compromised areas. The most prevalent characteristic associated with skin grafts are gigantic scars that extend over the length of the wounded area. Scars emerge as a result of the physiologic wound healing process and may arise following any insult to the deep dermis (Gauglitz, 2014, p. 32). When ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let s assume that at some point in time, they diverge for whatever reason. This divergence is seen as an opportunity to minimize the risks (or may be greediness!) and make big profits irrespective of how the market is performing. The hedge fund would buy security that is selling below its normal range, as it is expected to increase relative to A, and would sell security A short. Short selling (also known as shorting or going short) is the practice of selling assets, usually securities, that have been borrowed from a third party (usually a broker) with the intention of buying identical assets back at a later date to return to the lender. Elie and his father are apart of a jewish family in the 1940 s. That means they would be sent to a concentration camp. Hitler is in power and is conducting a genocide against jews. Throughout the book you notice the theme silence being used. Wiesel wanted his audience to know that not only were the Jewish people in camps silenced, but the world around them was silenced as well. He illustrates that nobody spoke out to help the millions of dying people that were being punished (for no reason) and nobody that was being punished was allowed to speak out or the punishment worsened. He shows silence in several different ways including symbolism, foreshadowing, and diction to exemplify the theme in the book Night by Elie Wiesel. The first time you see silence in Night is when Wiesel foreshadows by saying, Even Moishe the Beadle had fallen silent. (8). He indicates that silence will be a theme by saying Moishe had fallen silent after he returned from a camp for immigrant jews. Dionysus fits the Greek understanding of vengeful and selfish God that bear more anthropomorphic traits than Godly traits. The motives of Dionysus are extremely perplexing to a modern audience. I will go; for that which fate forbids, can never befall me. This type of validation is known as criterion related validation and it can provide concrete evidence of the accuracy of a test for predicting job performance. Criterion validation involves a statistical study that provides hard evidence of the relationship between scores on pre employment assessments and valued business outcomes related to job performance. • 32. How Did Geography Affect Where Colonists Settled Essay Beginning in 1607, when ambitious English colonists settled in Jamestown, and continuing until the last of the thirteen colonies was established; geography was a substantial factor in the development of colonial America. The crops that essentially saved the colonists lives, such as tobacco, rice, and indigo, wouldn t have grown without a certain type and amount of soil to grow properly. Also, the Appalachian Mountains and the dense forests provided a barrier for the colonists, preventing them from going too far west right away, and causing the colonies to form in the arrangement they did. This, in turn, made it so that the population were more dense, and there was a higher concentration of people. The dense forests of the eastern seaboard disallowed for large cities to be created right away. This geological factor forced colonists to spread out within the perimeters of the Appalachian Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, without being too close together. Both of these factors could be overlooked easily enough, but did have a reasonable impact of the development of colonial America. Finally, the geography of the middle colonies, such as New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania played a big role on the development and population of this area. In the sixteen and seventeen hundreds, the above colonies were the most populated of the thirteen establishments. There was plentiful and fertile soil, in which tobacco was heavily grown. The Susquehanna River also flowed through this region, opening the possibility of fur trade. Other minor rivers that were found in the middle colonies were gentle, which provided for easy transportation and fishing. The land in the middle colonies was broad and expansive, making it easy for even the middle class residents to create an enjoyable and profitable lifestyle. In conclusion, there were many factors that contributed to the development of the colonial America, but geography was clearly a sizable influence. I did not want the girls to only think about themselves, but to think of the team. Swimming is unique because the team is seventh grade through twelfth grade. That means I got to become friends with younger girls, but also be a role model for them. I took being a positive role model for these younger girls very seriously. I wanted to be someone they could talk to and someone that inspires them. Another impact swimming had on me was it showed some traits that I did not know I had. During swimming I learned how determined and hard working I can be. During my senior year I suffered from an injury to my foot. I was devastated, but also determined to not let it ruin my season. • 39. The Atkins Diet Essay The Atkins Diet, a high protein, high fat, low carbohydrate diet was introduced in 1972 by Dr. Robert C. Atkins, MD. Dr. Atkins believed that a diet high in sugar forced the pancreas to produce the hormone insulin, causing the body to store calories as fat. He believed that if we consumed fewer carbohydrates, then our bodies would produce less insulin. By doing so, our bodies would use stored fat for energy, resulting in weight loss. (1) The Atkins Diet consists of four phases. The first phase, referred to as the Induction Phase, lasts for a period of two weeks. This can possible relates to Latin America violence to those who commits crime. They can either defined themselves as two different persons for the purpose of self ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
