Pollution is one of the biggest global killers, affecting over 100 million people. The air pollution in
Beijing, China, is so severe that it s equivalent to smoking 21 cigarettes a day. People are always
trying to find new ways to improve the increasing build up of pollution, and most recently this is being
done through fashion.
The idea of saving the planet is not new to the fashion industry, and many designers and
merchandisers have been vigorously looking for ways to make sure their garments have less of a
negative environmental effect. Catalytic Clothing shows that just by simply wearing a garment we can
stop the increase of deadly pollution, which I will be looking into further in this report to show the
outcomes which could be made if commercially produced.

This idea is collective by the two founders of Catalytic Clothing: Professor Tony Ryan, a scientist
from the University of Sheffield, and Professor Helen Storey, a designer and artist from the London

fashion industry, but also improving the environment.

In the novel, Jane Eyre, by Charlotte Brontë there were many incidents that had affected the overall
plot of the book. Sometimes an author adds certain events or ideas to help accentuate the plot. In this
novel there is a recurring theme of betrayal. The one that seems to be affected by the curse of betrayal
the most is the main character, Jane Eyre, herself. Her first encounter with betrayal came about when
she was still just a child. And as she grew older and experienced the world new ways unlike before,
she could never escape the curse of betrayal. Jane s first encounter with betrayal was when she was
still a child and her Uncle Reed brought her along to live with him and his family in Gateshead, after
Jane s parents had passed away. Jane s Uncle Reed had promised to raise her as if she were one of his

Jane s aunt and her three children had mistreated her and in some cases physically abused. On one

On April 8, 1931, she set the altitude record by flying 18,415 feet. On January 11, 1935, she became
the first person to fly across the Pacific from Honolulu to Oakland (Earhart 89 93). All this was done
during a time and place where people lossed their jobs, and the economy was bad. Unemployment rate
almost tripled between 1930 and 1933 as it jumped from 8.9 percent to 24.9 percent. Americans relied

In 1974 Jack began his work on his idea drawing inspiration from a book called Tom Swift and his
Electric Rifle. He first created a device that look like a flashlight. The device used gunpowder to fire
two prongs attached to wire up to 15 feet. Once the prongs made contact the device pulsed 50,000
volts into the target causing uncontrollable muscle spasms and effectively immobilizing the target

In 2015, roughly 2.3 million tonnes of garbage were thrown away in British Columbia alone, an
average of 497 kilograms per capita. Imagine Canada s waste combined about 25 million tonnes.
Often, household garbage ends up in landfills, but landfills are piling up and reaching maximum
capacity. Unfortunately, it is becoming a struggle to find new areas to dispose of the tonnes of waste.
Additionally, the problem of over capacitated landfills contributes to the environment s health and as a
consequence, make approximately 25% of Canada s greenhouse gas emissions. Improperly discarding
