Nike the Sweatshop Debate Essay
Running head: Nike and the Sweatshop Debate Nike the Sweatshop Debate Shelia D. Marshall
Global Strategies MGT 448 Shabbir Karim October 12, 2009 Nike the Sweatshop Debate
Beneath all the hoopla and controversy about Nike being a successful company in the United
States in which its earnings in 2009 according to Hoovers Inc., 2009, Nike s revenue for 2009
was $19, 176.1 million and their gross profit was $8,604.4 million, made possible by the hands of

However, suppliers were not so eager to make these changes because the suppliers wanted to see
their direct benefits. Nike had to become first partaker in the changes by first leading by example
and secondly through education. Nike developed a supplier code of conduct and assembled an
internal team to enforce the codes of conduct, also working with external processes to monitor the
policies set into place and having consistent contact with their stakeholders. Other challenges for
Nike were eliminating excessive overtime for factory workers; putting into practice human resource
management systems, and educational training would be tailored to their subcontracted facilities,
put in place a freedom of association educational program in 100% of focused factories, and lead
the charge in multi brand collaboration on compliance issues in 30% of their supply chain. Nike has
realized that even though they have made an attempt to make changes within their subcontracting
Companies this has not been enough and Nike realizes they have an ongoing obligation to the
workers, as well to the different cultures that are involved. Nike has a process called the

Government Control In Harrison Bergeron
Does our government have too much control on us? Do we have too many rules to follow? Kurt
Vonnegut, the author of Harrison Bergeron, writes about how the government tries to take control
of everyone. In this story Vonnegut writes how the Handicapper General makes the smarter, prettier
and stronger people wear handicaps. Some readers may think Vonnegut is writing about civil
rights. However, throughout this paper I am going to prove them wrong. In Vonnegut s story
Harrison Bergeron went against governmentcontrol by taking off his handicaps. In the story Harrison
showed his rebellion when Harrison tore straps of his handicaps harness like wet tissue paper, tore
straps guaranteed to support five thousands pounds (Vonnegut). This quote represents the refusing of
government control by not obeying the government.Bradshaw made it clear that nobody willl...

Consequences will happen if you don t follow government control.Kurt Vonnegut is going against
government control in the story he is not fighting for civil rights. There is no such thing as a

Comparing Cain And Grendel s Jealousy
Have you ever wanted to kill your brother due to jealousy? Or kill people just for pleasure? Cain
and Grendel have . Cain is the son of Adam and Eve. He is known for killing his brother Abel. He
originated from the Bible from the book of Genesis. Grendel is a bloodthirsty monster who eats
humans just for pleasure. He is also a descendent of Cain. He originated from the story of Beowulf,
a Pagan Anglo Saxons tale that was later re written by Christian monks. Cain and Grendel are both
very similar traits and personalities. One of the things that they have in common is jealousy. They
are both very envious of their surroundings which has caused them to kill others. Cain was very
envious of his brother because he had the love of God, which drove him to kill his brother and lied
to God that he did not kill him. While Grendel hated to see other people in the hall being happy
and partying. In the darkness, growled in pain, impatient, As day after day the music rang
(Beowulf pg. 4l line#2,3). He grew impatient of hearing everyone having a good time, which
caused him to kill them. Also, they both don t have the protection of God. Cain was put under
God s curse (Genesis 4:11 pg 4), he lied to God so this caused him to get the ultimate punishment
from God of pain, despair and later death. Grendel never touches anything that is protected by God,

due to their envy they desire to kill and due to that they both don t have the will of God. They are
also both stories that are used to educate people through christian believes to have good faith so
that you do not end like Grendel and Cain. This is to show that murder can lead to live your life

Progressive Movement
During the early 1800s to the late 1900s, environmental protection and sustainable economic
development was the primary concern of most American citizen. Their concern over national
environmental and economic policy and its implementation gives birth to the progressive
movement after the American Civil War. The movement gained political roots in national and local
politics and strongly advocated for environmental and economic reform. Progressive movement
activism increased focus on awareness of environmental policy and took environmental
management to a new direction to considered public input in policy decision making, thereby
changing public perceptions of environmental degradation, land ownership, pollution and loss of
biodiversity. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, enactment of environmental laws and policy implementation developed into a political
debate between both Republican and democratic politician in the 1960s. By the end of the 1960s
numerous environmental bills aimed at protecting the environmental from pollution, degradation,
erosion, deforestation, land ownership were introduced on the floor of the U.S senate. These policy
actions action give birth to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), a comprehensive
environmental policy conceived in the late 1960s by Henry M. Jackson a democratic senator from
Washington State and signed into law by President Richard M. Nixon. The National Environmental

Achromatopsia Research Paper
I decided to choose Achromatopsia as my topic which deals with color perception. Many people
have different forms of color perception. Some people are completely color blind and others are
just lacking a few rods or cones which prevent them from seeing a few colors. Achromatopsia is
among the worst because people who have this may only see in grey or washed out colors.
Whereas, others can see some color and still seem to function normally. This disease can prevent
you from seeing all color, which makes it much more difficult to function in everyday life because
of the lack of color perception one may have.
Achromatopsia is a non progressive and hereditary visual disorder which is characterized by
decreased vision, light sensitivity, and the absence of color vision. In the U.S., it affects about 1 in
every 33,000 people. Achromatopsia is sometimes called Day Blindness , as these people see
better in subdued light. People with complete Achromatopsia will have reduced vision (20/200 or
less) due to an abnormality of the retina. They also have no color vision, sensitivity to light
(photophobia) and the presence of nystagmus (shaking of the eyes). People with incomplete or
partial Achromatopsia may have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the retina, there are three types of cells called cones that are responsible for normal color
vision. These are the red cones, the green cones, and the blue cones which can also be referred to
M, S, and L cones. A balanced distribution of these cells is necessary for the function of normal
color vision. A child born with non functioning cones will have Achromatopsia. Sometimes children
have a reduced complement of the cones, in which case they will have partial or incomplete
Achromatopsia. Achromatopsia is an inherited condition and so far, four genes (genetic markers
found on chromosomes) are known to be associated with this

The Immortality Of Hela Cells

The Immortality of HeLa Cells God created everything good and men s efforts towards creativity by
using technology makes it better. Tissue culture is the technique that involves removal of cells,
tissues or organs from the animal or plant and their subsequent placement in to an artificial
environment suitable for their growth, which mimic the in vivo environment from which it derived.
In culture, cancer cells can grow indefinitely, if they have continuous supply of nutrients and
environmental conditions and thus it called immortal , and cells from this tissue called cell line
(Skloot,5). One of the important things that revolutionize the medical field was HeLa cell line
derived from cervical cancer cells of Henrietta Lacks a black African American woman died at
12:15 a.m. on October 4, 1951(Skloot,86). Dr. Wharton had shaved a dime sized tissue from her
cervical tumor and that tissue was given to the Dr. George Gey who was the head of tissue
culture research at Johns Hopkins Hospital (Skloot,33). George was a first person who developed
the technique to grow HeLa cells form cervical tissue of Henrietta Lacks in his lab and given the
name HeLa after the first two initials of Henrietta s first and last names (Skloot,37).
In order to determine function of cells and to evaluate certain theory concerning the cause and
treatments of disease, cell line needed for that must have immortal property means able to grow
indefinitely. However, the normal

Section 1: Job Description/Duties
The role of a financial planner is to help groups or individuals with the use of their investments,
income, taxes, or savings. This includes helping people with their immediate or long term financial
goals such as a small investment or retirement. This job comes with immense responsibility because
a financial planner is entrusted with another person s money, and just one wrong investment could
lead to the loss of a client. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Working in an office setting is not very appealing to me, which is okay because financial planners
have the option to work independently at home. However, this requires a great deal of time and
effort because this would mean having to start marketing your services and would have to build a
strong customer base.
Section 5: Wages and benefits The average salary for a financial planner is 50,000 a year which is
great because it will allow me to live the life I want to live. The amount of money a person in this
career can make is zero to over a seven figures. This depends on the level of experience you have
and if you are willing to go above and beyond what the bare minimum. If you work for a firm in
this profession they will provide insurance, sick leave, and a paid vacation depending on the firm,
but an independent financial advisor is not provided with these luxuries services.
Section 6: Employment outlook The employment outlook for a financial planner is supposed to
have a thirty two percent increase in the role over the next ten years. The good thing about this is
that when I get out of college I will be able to find a job for this career fairly easy,

How Does Photography Shape Society
Photography has shaped society in many ways. It doesn t just serve the purpose of entertainment
and enlightenment; it also makes society aware of issues and events the world faces on a daily
basis. In this case documentary photography has not just made people all over the globe aware of
these issues; it also enforces the power of persuasion upon some to make a difference in society.
Photographs create a sense of realism and truth. Words can explain and create a mental picture in
the minds of readers or listeners, but images and documentary photographs connect us better with
individuals, nationally and even internationally. These photographs have the power to show people
the similarities of the human conditions around the world.
The year 1968 in America was a year full of turmoil and political uprising. Thus it was the pivotal
year of the sixties, when all of the nation s actions and impulses towards violence, idealism,
diversity and inequality peaked to produce the greatest possible hope and at the same time the
worst despair. The rest of the world also watched USA and South Africa struggle in the war for
peace and freedom. It was a time of social and race inequality. ... Show more content on

The Voyager
Voyager
The Voyager mission (later changed to Voyager Interstellar Mission) is one of the
greatest missions planned on Earth due to a lot of reasons. For example, this will extend NASA
and the people of Earths view beyond the outer planets and out of the Sun s sphere of influence
(SOI). You can see by this that these space probes can be very beneficial to future missions that
require this kind of information. This is because space travel
is basically rocket science which means it is very hard. In
addition, there are two of these space probes not just one.
This is because they both were going to different parts of
the solar system. Therefore, this mission has a lot of power
left to do more. This is what started one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

space probe is going pretty fast. On the other hand, Voyager II is 15,370,241,926 KM away from
the Sun. This one is going 35,970 mph (57,888 km/h) instead of Voyager s speed. You can see
by this that Voyager II is probably newer than the older Voyager. This data is pretty surprising
compared to our normal standards of speed and travel.
In conclusion, this mission is said to be one of the best missions ever because of a lot of
reasons. For example, the unexpectedness of this mission s potential. You can see by this that
even fully planned space missions can be turned into things that are even more productive than
the things it was aimed for. This is because of the fact that space is gigantic and has a lot of
possibilities. In addition, the fact that these space probes are traveling farther than man as ever
went. This is important because if we ever have a deadly object coming towards us; we can
easily prepare to destroy or deflect it/get ready for the impact. You can see this that it can help
out our survival on earth. All in all, this mission is hopefully going to inspire more

Snake Similes In Amy
Amy Rose s article, Vergil s Ship Snake Simile, explores the importance of the snake similes
presented throughout book two and book five of the Aeneid. Specifically, there are important
differences with how these snake similes are depicted in these two books, which Rose focuses on
and examines their significance to the story. This article suggests that stark differences between
these two books shines a light on Aeneas change of fortune since the fall of Troy. Rose further
extends the argument to encompass that these snakes also symbolize Aeneas newfound
responsibility to his followers. Therefore, the snakesimiles suggest Aeneas change of fortune and
his newfound responsibility.

The first reference to a snake in book five appears when Aeneas offers anniversary offerings to
Anchises grave. Upon seeing the snake slither back into the gravesite Aeneas claims, is the
serpent the genius of the place? Or [my] father s familiar spirit (5.114 15). Amy Rose claims that
the snake which appeared is the genius of the place and not Anchises spirit. The word genius
does not mean intelligent, rather it means the loci or famulus parentis. Amy Rose extends the
claim of famulus parentis by stating that the snake s appearance is depicted in a very ritualistic
manner. Therefore, the snake can be seen as a protector of the family and as a manifestation of
certain gods (Rose). Importantly, the snake described in this simile is different from the snake
described in book two. In book five Virgil employs the snakes differently, rather than the snakes
being depicted as hostile and ready to attack, as they are in book two, they are depicted as
passive, welcoming, and protecting creatures. Amy Rose claims that these stark differences depict
Aeneas change of fortune because in book two Aeneas and the Trojans were facing a hostile snake
which destroyed their homes and conquered Troy. However, now Aeneas and the Trojans are met
with a passive snake which symbolizes

The Era Of The Baroque Era
According to Greenberg (2009), the Baroque era is estimated to be the time period spanning from
1600 until 1750. The year of Sebastian Bach s death, 1750 which is notably and associatively used
as a timeline reference that ends this overly extravagant period of creativity. This timespan became
an era of expressive exuberance of primal human emotions as secularization, the study of scientific
reasoning and intellectual rationale characterized the societal environment. Religion no longer
dominated and controlled the subject matter and stylization of artistic expression, yet it did not
disappear, it merely stepped into the background. The Classical era is estimated to be the time
period spanning from 1750 until 1827. Similarly 1827, the year of Beethoven s death is used to
mark the ending of another era. Within this timespan, society transitioned from overly ornate to a
more defined sophisticated culture with the introduction of the Enlightenment 1730 1780. The
Enlightenment s ideals for the betterment of mankind gave rise to Cosmopolitanism and an
international blurring of musical lines. European mercantilism gave rise to a growing middle class
whose social importance became equal to that of the aristocracy and the high clergy. The middle
class s increased finances allowed them the purchase of real estate and the knowledge of leisure
time with the desire to be entertained. Classical musicbecame more accessible to the middle class as
a source of entertainment and a

Civil Aspects Of The Indigenous Communities
The Indigenous people throughout Mexico have had a tumultuous history filled with violence and
repression. Their rich cultures have repeatedly been infringed upon by outside cultures, and their
place in the world remains uncertain to this day. This battle to retain their culture began centuries
ago, and envelopes all different types of Indigenous groups, from the old Aztecs to the Zapotecs.
Their society was and remains to be very different from popular culturein Mexico and Spain during
the times of the Conquistadores, and they have therefore been subjected to different
persecutions and maltreatments throughout history. The Indigenous people have had their own
customs and social laws since their inception. These customs are very different than popular
Mexican society, and therefore are the targets of criticism and persecution at the hands of the
Mexican government. One of the most defining civil aspects of the Indigenous communities is
the concept of communal land. The land was owned by the community as a whole, known as
Ejido land, and households were given land to work and live on in exchange for their agreement to
follow the social aspects of the society. The system was a complex and effective web of public held
positions for every aspect of civil society from police to mayordomos, or the people who tended to
the saints for a year. It was a kind of social obligation, and composed of both a civil and religious
hierarchy. This system was an effective way to maintain

Mr. Simpson s Case On Fraudulent Misrepresentation, And...
Mr. and Mrs. Noll will not likely have a cause of action for fraudulent inducement against The Sands
based on their lack of due diligence to protect their interests upon entering an agreement with The
Sands. The Sixth District Court of Appeals has never before heard a case on fraudulent inducement
and therefore this memorandum has used both binding as well as persuasive court decisions to
come to a cohesive prediction of the Noll s situation. According to the state of Florida, fraudulent
inducement has four elements: (1) a false statement of material fact; (2) the maker of the statement
knew or should have known of the falsity of the statement; (3) the maker intended that the false
statement induce another s reliance; and (4) the other party justifiably relied on the false statement

Who Is Dr. Gachet
Vincent Van Gogh is a widely known painter throughout the world for multiple reasons. His
paintings weren t just paintings, they were life experiences. Van Gogh s life was an emotional
and mental rollercoaster. Every single one of his paintings contained a story behind them. The
visual aspect seemed as if they were full of motion. His painting techniques seemed to be
impeccable. During the time period in which he was working on art, there was a big movement
called the Impressionism Movement. This movement inspired artist to draw more landscapes and

When looking at the painting, dark blues consume most of the image. The portrait of Dr.Gachet is
painted with a sad, gloomy expression on his face. The painting, by Van Gogh, has a strong
connection to Vincent s personal life and relationships. This allows Vincent to apply his feelings
and experiences through the art. Dr.Gachet was a close friend of Vincent s brother Theo.
Dr.Gachet was an actual doctor that focused on homeopathic cures. He brought Vincent into his
own home to try and assist with his severe condition of depression as much as he possibly could.
With living in a house together Vincent and Dr.Gachet became close friends. Dr.Gachet even began
painting as a side hobby. Vincent would often show Dr.Gachet some small techniques when it came
to painting. Dr.Gachet became a man the Van Gogh became slightly attached to. The look on
Dr.Gachet s face in the portrait is supposed to resemble the sadness that Van Gogh had felt. Vincent
felt as if his depression may have worn off on the doctor. In the article Portrait of Dr.Gachet(July

similar bouts with depression and their dependency on their vocation for emotional and intellectual

indicating the common place. The narrator comments on his childhood stating that ...I was noted

experiencing a feeling of the uncanny concerning his alcohol fueled change of character. Freud
theorizes that ...if psychoanalytic theory is correct in maintaining that every emotional affect,
whatever its quality, is transformed by repression into morbid anxiety, then among such cases of
anxiety there must be a class in which the anxiety can be shown to come from something
repressed which recurs (Freud 13). The very fact he began to drink excessively suggests some
deep seated repression the cause of witch one could argue involves the narrator s seemingly
unnatural love toward animals that day by day torments him into a bottle. The desire to subside
the feeling of morbid anxiety in his daily life brings one to understand why he would seek the
numbing effects of alcohol, but in so doing he is unwittingly bringing a side of him to light that
should have never seen the light of day.
Although the narrator has shown a tendency toward violence up to this point he had refrained from
demonstrating it to his cat due to the love they had once shared. In the following months the
narrator upon reflection grieves about his deeds, but then that grief gives way to something much
darker, I had so much of my old heart

Things Fall Apart Tragic Hero Essay
Chinua Achebe s novel, Things Fall Apart , is a classic postcolonial novel about a man named
Okonkwo who was a well known man in his village in Nigeria. He is a man that has a very thin
temper and is portrayed as a tragic hero, Okonkwo fits Aristotle s definition of a tragic hero
pretty well. Okonkwo s demise was ultimately caused by his fatal flaw. A cultural identity crisis
had little to no minimal impact on his demise; rather, his fatal flaw of a bad temper and fear of
being thought of as weak had the biggest impact on his demise. Aristotle s conception of a tragic
hero includes that he is a character of a noble or high status, Okonkwo fits this because, Okonkwo

Importance Of Bill Of Rights In Australia
The Australian Government, unlike many liberal democracy countries, has no Bill of Rights,
instead we have a constitution. This is a document stating the laws of Australia and the way our
government must run. A Bill of Rights would positively enforce new, and re instated laws to protect
the rights of Australian people.
The Australian Constitution, passed by the British Parliament as part of the Commonwealth of
Australia Constitution Act 1900. It was written in the 1890 s after a series of conventions with
government officials. The Constitution is the legal framework for how Australia is governed and it
can only be changed by referendum. Australians voted for the national constitution in a series of
referendums. The Australian Constitution establishes the composition of the Australian Parliament,
and describes how Parliament works, what powers it has, how federal and state Parliaments share
power, and the roles of the Executive Government and the High Court. It took effect on 1 January
1901. In addition to the national Constitution, each Australian state has its own constitution. The
Australian Capital Territoryand Northern Territory have self government Acts which were passed
by the Australian Parliament. The Constitution states that federal elections must be called at least ...

Bruce WeiglВґs Poems on Vietnam War
To this day the Vietnam War is still considered to be one of the most devastating wars in history
and has been a topic of resentment to the American culture thirty three years after its end. For the
American public it s marked as being the point in history where distrust in our government was at
an all time high, mainly because most of the war s carnage was witnessed on television for the first
time. For all the bloodshed American and Vietnamese soldiers suffered through, the war has left a
perpetual mark not only on the United Statesbut ultimately has left a permanent scar on the soldiers
who fought and managed to survive the war. Renowned war poet, Bruce Weigl, like most young

Weigl has dug deep into his recollection of the war to produce work that can be thought of as
artistically beautiful. It s his aim to find the means, despite everything he s endured, to transcend
misery in his poetry. This is done on purpose and allows Weigl to employ a style in his poetry
that s dependent on the sound of words, to express an image so openly that the verses depict a
genuine emotion that doesn t pose as an insult to readers. Underneath the rubble of his misfortune
there is a level of integrity on display that readers can appreciate. Weigl likes to view the world
objectively and so does his poetry in a very responsible and accountable manner. A portion of the
poetry created by Weigl illustrates a gap between generations. The general belief is that the United
States sees what happened in Vietnam from a distance, but for those living in Vietnam it
completely altered their lives. Another excerpt from Weigl s memoir expresses this as he
reveals the story of a woman he d met in Vietnam. Titled, Her Life Runs like a Red Silk Flag
illustrates exactly just how twisted and merciless war can be. The poem introduces Weigl
receiving water from a woman who said she had seen her childhood village bombed by planes.
She didn t blame him and in her mind she viewed that uneventful day as a horror that will
perpetually haunt her for life but Weigl responds clarifying that the real horror is digging inside of
him as he writes, there aren t any words that can

Themes Of Love And Death In Poetry
When looking at poetry we see it comes in many different formats. Haiku, limerick, ode, ballad,
epic, lyric, and free verse are all examples of the types of poetry in the literary world. These small
works of literature can hold so much meaning and emotion. According to Merriam Webster
dictionary, poetry is the writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience
in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound
and rhythm (Poetry n.p.). Like poetry, songs are similar because they have meaning, sound and
rhythm. Without these elements you would not get the catchy songs that are played on the radio

Assessment Of An Best Assessment For Diane Essay
Assessment Plan
Assessment Question In order to provide the best assessment for Diane, we as a team need to
focus on our assessment question as follows: Who is Diane as a person, and what are her unmet
needs in her daily life, especially in regards to her current mode of communication and her
interactions with family/partners; additionally, are there any barriers currently halting progress? It
is vital that Diane s best interests are always on the foreground; her own priorities and her own
desires will lead our assessment into future interventions. We are able to take apart the above
question in four steps in order ascertain why this is a valid goal to attain for Diane.
First, it is important to assess Diane s overall unmet needs. In understanding one s unmet needs, we
are able to assist Diane in engaging in her own interactions and activities in her daily life
(Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 8). Research has shown that children and young adults with cerebral
palsy are at risk for having a high amount of unmet needs, especially in relation to health care
(Jackson, Krishnaswami, McPheeters, 2011; Nieuwenhuijse et al., 2007). As health care
professionals, we need to be aware of Diane s unmet needs in order to identify her own personal
goals and skills in order to plan an accurate model of intervention.
Second, it is necessary to understand Diane s current mode of communication. Beukelman and

A point mutation is one where only one nucleotide is changed and a missense mutation is when
the amino acid changes due to the base(s) mutated. FGFR3 consists of 19 exons, with the mutation
occuring in exon 10 (1, 16). Furthermore, the mutated base is 1138, where the base can undergo
two possible mutations. G(guanine)в†’A(adenine) transition accounts for 98% of all cases of
ACH while the G→C(cytosine) transversion mutation occurs in 1% of cases (6). Both of these
mutations result in the amino acid arginine being substituted for glycine at codon 380 which is in
the transmembrane of FGFR3 (1, 4, 17) (See Figure 1). The FGFR3 mutation is a gain of function
mutation due to the resulting activation of receptors, which is opposite the normal inhibitory effect
the FGFR3 has on the receptors, which upon activation, negatively regulate bone growth (4, 6).
Thus, FGFR3 has been found to become hyperactivated when mutated and undergo ligand
independent dimerization (1, 11, 18). De novo mutations account for 80 90% of all cases of ACH
(1, 4, 7, 8, 11). Recent research has determined that increased paternal age correlates to this specific
mutation occuring (4, 7, 11, 19). The maternal age seems to have no effect, meaning that the de
novo mutation occurs during spermatogenesis (20). This has also been studied and each affected
individual was found to have received the mutated chromosome paternally (21). There has only

My Own Device ( Byod ) And Risks Associated With It
Abstract
This paper is about Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and risks associated with it. The conditions
for risks to occur, the managerial and technical solutions to such risks are discussed.
Introduction
BYOD or Bring Your Own Device refers to the policy of permitting employees to bring personally
owned mobile devices (laptops, tablets, and smart phones) to their workplace, and to use those
devices to access privileged company information and applications (Bradley December 20, 2011).
This concept is a growing trend for the information technology and many more business sectors.
Businesses that appreciate Bringing Your Own Devices have some advantages over the others. For

However there are an equal amount of risks involved with this. Security has been the primary
concern. A superior authority monitoring the employees all the time is impossible. The manager
has no right to access the devices of the workers as they are private. Also this might reduce
productivity if the employees lose focus on work and use their devices for entertainment or
personal benefits. Using and misusing data, network or resources in the workplace for personal
gain. In some cases, data can be stolen from the organization using such devices causing loss or
theft of data. Hence there is lack if control and potential malware threats (Pillay, Diaki et al. 2013).
Trend Drivers for BYOD BYOD is gaining high popularity and growth which is evident from the
Ovum s research paper published in 2012. Respondents in the emerging, high growth markets
(including Brazil, Russia, India, UAE, and Malaysia) demonstrate a much higher propensity to
use their own device at work. Almost 75% of users in these countries did so, compared to 44% in
the more mature developed markets. The research revealed that 79% of employees in high growth
markets believe that constant connectivity with work applications enables them to their job better,
versus 53.5% in mature markets. There is a distinct lack of BYOD management everywhere. On
average only 20.1% of employees who use personal devices have also signed a policy governing
that behaviour. USA and India are nearer to 50%. The

Abstract: Wheels are clearly safety related components and hence fatigue performance and the state
of stress in the rim under various loading conditions are prime concerns. Further, wheels continue to
receive a considerable amount of attention as part of industry efforts to reduce weight through
material substitution and down gauging.Possible loading conditions on the metal rim are: (a)
pressure due to inflation, (b) radial loading on the bead seat resulting from the weight of the
automobile, and (c) local bending moments induced on the rim due to an offset. These are
directly influenced by the width of the rim. In order to evaluate the effect of rim width on stress
the rim is analyzes experimentally with constant inflation pressure and variation in rim width.
Location of high stresses in the weld area is of major concern for welded rims. Typically, the disc
is welded to the rim at the well area. Residual stress causes addition stress or possible micro
structural cracks to the rim.[1]
Key Words: Fatigue Performance,Tyre pressure,Radial load.
Introduction
The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of tire air pressure in conjunction with the
radial load on the stress and displacement in tire rims, through experimental stress analysis and

journalists are stepping in to fill the gap in covering the news. Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube are
only some of the free websites where users are connected with others and can share in an instant

Snopes In Barn Burning
Family is the core of society. It is within this nurturing environment that hopes and dreams are
constructed and allowed to grow. Children learn the basic moral values and the socially acceptable
codes of conduct necessary for later life, but they can also absorb unacceptable behaviors by
observing those around them. In Barn Burning, William Faulknerchronicles the life of Abner
Snopes, and the less than perfect relationship he has with his relatives and son, Sartoris. Snopes is
a very bitter and discontented man, one who is envious of his rich land owning neighbors. As a
rather violent man, he has an insatiable desire to control people, and instill fear in their hearts.
Despite his shortcomings, the theme of family loyalty is brought into perspective by Snopes. He
values his familial bonds above all else, even the law. Snopes believes that every family should
stand up for each other, no matter the situation or differences they may have. Unfortunately for his
family (especially his son), Snopes often fails to live up to this ideal. After the court proceedings,
Sartoris is stuck by individuals within the crowd, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

shown in the sentence: The wagon went on, the store with its quiet crowd of grimly watching men
dropped behind; a curve in the road hid it. (333) Faulkner begins describing how the Snopes family
was leaving the store, but he does not end the sentence expectedly, as he instead states how the
corner hid their wagon from the view of the men watching

When patient care can no longer be managed by the family in the home, the nurse advocates for the
best placement options available. Some patients do not have family members to assist in the plan of
care and the nurse takes on the responsibility of trying to meet the patients specific needs. These
needs are determined by different assessments including spiritual beliefs. The patients beliefs play a
pertinent role in EOLC in narrowing placement options. During the final stages in the dying

Questions On The Coat Of Arms Essay
Coat of Arms Christella So Centennial College Coat of Arms The Coat of Arms our group

value toward nursing what nursing means to us and what nurses should possess. Above the
shield, we have a nursing cap which is a common symbol of nursing. In the shield, we have a

How Is Hagar Shipley An Unlikeable Character
Pride of Living
It is difficult for the reader to take an objective view of the characters in this novel, particularly
Hagar Shipley, because of the first person nature of the story. Furthermore, it is also impossible not
to dislike Hagar at times because of her detachment from the things that could bring her happiness.
Hagar suffers from dysthymia, she is a victim of relational and social distance. Her past was not in
her favor when contributing to her emotionally distant future.
Hagar is portrayed as an unlikeable character being blinded by pride, and just overly bitter. While
she may not be the hero or the villain (due to this type of story not having a demand of good vs
evil) it does make the story more believable. In real life, there is no black and white when I come to
personalities. Her personality may well be reflected as unpleasant at times but it does not
necessarily make her a bad person. She cannot be described as the antagonist nor protagonist. In
many instances, she displays actions of disapproval towards almost everyone in her life this is
frustrating to readers at times because what is leading her to her unhappiness can easily be solved
by a slight change in character. Hagar is in constant denial of her actions and the consequences that
come with it.
Hagar is blind to her own faults. Stubborn and resentful of everyone around her and won t let
herself be happy and yet Hagar is the kind of character you root for, she strives for independence

Math Observation
In the beginning of my observations the students in the classroom had been practicing their
addition and subtraction in a one digit numbers. However, as the year went on my cooperating
teacher started to get her students to be solving two digit addition and subtractions problems.
Before she started with two digit she wanted to be certain that her students felt confident along
with concrete knowledge and examples in their one digit equations because if not, they would fall
apart for two digit equations. My teacher had opened with two digit addition, by developing
knowledge on base ten blocks for approximately two weeks, then progressed her students to the
standard algorithm. My classroom is set up for their numeracy portion of the class that... Show more

My student at the beginning of two digit addition struggled with being organized in his base ten
block drawings and would get the answer wrong because he would circle 11 ones instead of 10.
When he got the opportunity to work with the actual base ten blocks he had a strong concept of
regrouping. Before the lesson my cooperating teacher taught them how to do the standard
algorithm, which my case study student took to excellent. During the process of the standard
algorithm I asked him to walk me through what he was doing and the process. He explained that
he carried the one over because it was making a new ten and then counted twenty plus thirty plus
ten instead of 1 plus two plus three, which I felt like the was understanding the place value. I
thought during the lesson if my student was advancing ways to challenge him on this assignment
would be to have him add three two digit numbers or have him add one two digit and one three
digit number. Then if I felt like my student was starting to struggle I could have his partner help
him solve the process, bring out the base ten blocks, or have him just add one two digit and one
digit numbers until he got the concept

Is The Us Healthcare System Truly Reflective Of A Free...
In the cold winter season, more people are going to come down with the flu or pneumonia
causing an increase in demand for certain antibiotics and medical care (supply) necessary to treat
these ailments. If physicians and/or hospitals do not increase their supply, this will cause a
shortage in medical care available meaning the price for care will increase. This is, at its very basic,
an example of supply and demand.
Introduction
Is the US Healthcare system truly reflective of a free market economy driven by supply and
demand? Initially, one would be inclined to think yes. In an ideal world, a free market is one
which is driven by individual innovation and the concept that hard work and ingenuity will be
bestowed with success. Indeed, the biggest advantage of a free market is that it places the power
of choice into the hands of the people. There is freedom to choose how you want to spend your
money, what you want to spend it on, and whom you want to spend it on. Do you want to see a
physician regarding a yearly physical? Open the yellow pages. You will more than likely find
over 100 general practitioners in your immediate area to choose from. Do you want to spend your
money on preventative care, early screenings, vaccinations, etc? Or do you want to spend your
money on medications after you are diagnosed with an ailment? The main idea behind a free
market is that prices will regulate themselves. In regards to the US Healthcare system, it is

What Is Tutankhamun s Role In Ancient Egypt
The discovery of Tutankhamun s Tomb by Howard Carter in 1922 revealed an astonishing quantity
of contents that had not been touched in over 3000 years. The contents of which Tutankhamun s
tomb concealed, such as wall paintings, golden statues, Royal Regalia, Pharaonic sculptures, and
numerous other archaeological evidence, provides information that depicts Ancient Egyptand
specifically, the role of a New Kingdom Pharaoh, and thus, is imperative for archeologists and
Egyptologists working to explain Ancient Egypt. Throughout Ancient Egypt, the role of a New
Kingdom Pharaoh was extensive, as the Pharaoh was charged with providing and protecting his
people. The Pharaonic duties evident throughout the New Kingdom dynasty (18th dynasty of Egypt)

The role of administrator saw the Pharaoh responsible for the productivity and prosperity of the
land, while also ensuring the Nile would flood each year, and responsible for foreign and public
policies. The role of Lawmaker and judge conveyed the absolute power the Pharaoh had, as his
word was law, because their was no written laws within ancient Egypt. The pharaoh was also the
only individual who could bestow the death penalty, and pardon a condemned criminal, and was
expected to maintain Ma at, which is justice and truth. The royal regalia of Tutankhamun within
Source D depicts the role of lawmaker and judge by conveying the power and control the Pharaoh
had. The crook (discovered within the antechamber) and flail (discovered within the treasury)
discovered within Tutankhamun s tomb convey the Pharaohs authority, as the flail depicted the
harsh punishments to those condemned, and the crook depicted the protection to those found
innocent. These symbols were employed to emphasise on the Pharaohs enforcement of Ma at, and
the disregard for the lives of those who create chaos. The role of administrator is conveyed through
the Pharaonic crook, and the crowns (discovered on statues in Tutankhamun s tomb) of the Pharaoh.
Not only does the crook display the protection of the Pharaoh, but also the fertility of the land and at
the Pharaonic authority. The Pharaonic crowns represent the power of United Egypt, and conveyed
power to foreign diplomats who entered Egypt to conduct trade. Tutankhamun s tomb and contents
are vital in the revelling of the roles of administrator, lawmaker and

Ankle Braces Research Paper
Ankle sprains are the most common injury in indoor volleyball, and very few things spark
intenses debate in the volleyball community more than the question about using ankle braces to
prevent these type of injuries. The majority of ankle sprains are when the ankle inverts or rolls in,
this occurs most often while playing at the net where players make contact with each others feet
when landing from a jump during a spike or a block. The theory behind bracing is that the brace
reduces abnormal ankle movement. I think that ankle braces should be allowed because they help
reduce ankle injuriesand increase your vertical; however many people also believe that ankle
braces can potentially slow you down and worsen your performance.

Compare And Contrast Augustus And Shi Huangdi
Caesar Augustus and Qin Shi Huangdi During the classical civilizations there were many types of
rulers and governments, two of these include Augustus from the Roman Empire and Qin Shi
Huangdi from the Qin Dynasty in China. Both of these emperors were from classical civilizations
but their own different civilization, on in Rome and the other in China. My goal in this paper is to
compare and contrast these two rulers from different civilizations by looking at their characteristics,
such as how they came to power, how they ruled, their successes and failures as well as their legacy.
First and foremost, both Augustus, whose original name was Octavian, and Qin Shi Huangdi came
to power through military power. While they both used military power... Show more content on

Both emperors kept their empire in control with rules and laws for their people, which is
undoubtedly a great success. Augustus mercilessly crushed anybody who opposed him as Qin Shi
Huangdi did but Augustus had punishments equivalent to those of the crime committed to where
Qin Shi Huangdi outright exaggerated on punishments for all his people. Due to Augustus doing
what was best for his people, he maintained Rome together and stable creating a period known as
Pax Romana due to unprecedented peace and economic prosperity throughout the Empire (Ancient
Rome, ushistory.org). After his death his dynasty began with the Five Good Emperors who ruled
after him with prosperity. On the contrary, after [Qin Shi Huangdi] died in 210 B.C.E., the dynasty
descended into factional rivalry, and four years later it was overthrown (Duiker and Spielvogel 98;

Literature Review On Glass Ceiling
Literature Review: A lot of previous studies show that the women are intentionally stopped from
achieving higher level positions in the organizations. This is called glass ceiling. In my study the
Glass Ceiling is my independent variable and I am trying to see its affect on the two dependent
variables of my study which are Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment . There comes a
mediating variable between glass ceilingand job satisfaction which is Job performance . Because
when employees job performance gets affected by the practices of glass ceiling in the organization
badly then ultimately their satisfaction level decreases. Glass ceiling also includes the gender
discrimination but my main focus would be gender... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
8, No. 6; 2013) The article is based on the findings of a structured questionnaire which was
developed according to previous studies relating this topic of glass ceiling (Bergman Bodil 2003,
Dimovski Skerlavaj and Man 2010, Smith and Crimes 2007). This study includes Organizational
Practices , Male Culture Family and Social Commitments as the independent variables and their
affect was shown on Women Career Progress which is the primary dependent variable of the study.
The study was conducted on the mid aged Jordanian female managers employed in different
sections of the different organizations. Researchers received 117 useable responses of those
structured questionnaires. This research was an exploratory and analytical study. Reason for calling
it an analytical study is that its interest is finding the factors that influence women career progress.
A simple regression test s results showed that the first, second and third hypotheses were confirmed
as expected earlier but when the researcher applied a multiple regression test the results supported
the fourth hypothesis of the study. The study further shows the strong and significant relation of
male culture and organizational practices with the women career progress. Women family
commitments had the weakest positive relation with the women career progress. In this study
ANOVA results confirmed the impact of glass ceiling barrier on the women

He is known for killing his brother Abel. He originated from the Bible from the book of Genesis. Grendel is a bloodthirsty monster who eats humans just for pleasure. He is also a descendent of Cain. He originated from the story of Beowulf, a Pagan Anglo Saxons tale that was later re written by Christian monks. Cain and Grendel are both very similar traits and personalities. One of the things that they have in common is jealousy. They are both very envious of their surroundings which has caused them to kill others. Cain was very envious of his brother because he had the love of God, which drove him to kill his brother and lied to God that he did not kill him. While Grendel hated to see other people in the hall being happy and partying. In the darkness, growled in pain, impatient, As day after day the music rang (Beowulf pg. 4l line#2,3). He grew impatient of hearing everyone having a good time, which caused him to kill them. Also, they both don t have the protection of God. • 8. Achromatopsia Research Paper I decided to choose Achromatopsia as my topic which deals with color perception. Many people have different forms of color perception. Some people are completely color blind and others are just lacking a few rods or cones which prevent them from seeing a few colors. Achromatopsia is among the worst because people who have this may only see in grey or washed out colors. Whereas, others can see some color and still seem to function normally. This disease can prevent you from seeing all color, which makes it much more difficult to function in everyday life because of the lack of color perception one may have. Achromatopsia is a non progressive and hereditary visual disorder which is characterized by decreased vision, light sensitivity, and the absence of color vision. In the U.S., it affects about 1 in every 33,000 people. Achromatopsia is sometimes called Day Blindness , as these people see better in subdued light. People with complete Achromatopsia will have reduced vision (20/200 or less) due to an abnormality of the retina. They also have no color vision, sensitivity to light (photophobia) and the presence of nystagmus (shaking of the eyes). People with incomplete or partial Achromatopsia may have ... Tissue culture is the technique that involves removal of cells, tissues or organs from the animal or plant and their subsequent placement in to an artificial environment suitable for their growth, which mimic the in vivo environment from which it derived. In culture, cancer cells can grow indefinitely, if they have continuous supply of nutrients and environmental conditions and thus it called immortal , and cells from this tissue called cell line (Skloot,5). One of the important things that revolutionize the medical field was HeLa cell line derived from cervical cancer cells of Henrietta Lacks a black African American woman died at 12:15 a.m. on October 4, 1951(Skloot,86). Dr. Wharton had shaved a dime sized tissue from her cervical tumor and that tissue was given to the Dr. George Gey who was the head of tissue culture research at Johns Hopkins Hospital (Skloot,33). It doesn t just serve the purpose of entertainment and enlightenment; it also makes society aware of issues and events the world faces on a daily basis. In this case documentary photography has not just made people all over the globe aware of these issues; it also enforces the power of persuasion upon some to make a difference in society. Photographs create a sense of realism and truth. Words can explain and create a mental picture in the minds of readers or listeners, but images and documentary photographs connect us better with individuals, nationally and even internationally. These photographs have the power to show people the similarities of the human conditions around the world. The year 1968 in America was a year full of turmoil and political uprising. Thus it was the pivotal year of the sixties, when all of the nation s actions and impulses towards violence, idealism, diversity and inequality peaked to produce the greatest possible hope and at the same time the worst despair. Specifically, there are important differences with how these snake similes are depicted in these two books, which Rose focuses on and examines their significance to the story. This article suggests that stark differences between these two books shines a light on Aeneas change of fortune since the fall of Troy. Rose further extends the argument to encompass that these snakes also symbolize Aeneas newfound responsibility to his followers. Upon seeing the snake slither back into the gravesite Aeneas claims, is the serpent the genius of the place? Or [my] father s familiar spirit (5.114 15). Amy Rose claims that the snake which appeared is the genius of the place and not Anchises spirit. The word genius does not mean intelligent, rather it means the loci or famulus parentis. Amy Rose extends the claim of famulus parentis by stating that the snake s appearance is depicted in a very ritualistic manner. Therefore, the snake can be seen as a protector of the family and as a manifestation of certain gods (Rose). Importantly, the snake described in this simile is different from the snake described in book two. In book five Virgil employs the snakes differently, rather than the snakes being depicted as hostile and ready to attack, as they are in book two, they are depicted as passive, welcoming, and protecting creatures. The year of Sebastian Bach s death, 1750 which is notably and associatively used as a timeline reference that ends this overly extravagant period of creativity. This timespan became an era of expressive exuberance of primal human emotions as secularization, the study of scientific reasoning and intellectual rationale characterized the societal environment. Religion no longer dominated and controlled the subject matter and stylization of artistic expression, yet it did not disappear, it merely stepped into the background. The Classical era is estimated to be the time period spanning from 1750 until 1827. Similarly 1827, the year of Beethoven s death is used to mark the ending of another era. Within this timespan, society transitioned from overly ornate to a more defined sophisticated culture with the introduction of the Enlightenment 1730 1780. The Enlightenment s ideals for the betterment of mankind gave rise to Cosmopolitanism and an international blurring of musical lines. European mercantilism gave rise to a growing middle class whose social importance became equal to that of the aristocracy and the high clergy. Their rich cultures have repeatedly been infringed upon by outside cultures, and their place in the world remains uncertain to this day. This battle to retain their culture began centuries ago, and envelopes all different types of Indigenous groups, from the old Aztecs to the Zapotecs. Their society was and remains to be very different from popular culturein Mexico and Spain during the times of the Conquistadores, and they have therefore been subjected to different persecutions and maltreatments throughout history. The Indigenous people have had their own customs and social laws since their inception. These customs are very different than popular Mexican society, and therefore are the targets of criticism and persecution at the hands of the Mexican government. One of the most defining civil aspects of the Indigenous communities is the concept of communal land. The land was owned by the community as a whole, known as Ejido land, and households were given land to work and live on in exchange for their agreement to follow the social aspects of the society. The system was a complex and effective web of public held positions for every aspect of civil society from police to mayordomos, or the people who tended to the saints for a year. According to the state of Florida, fraudulent inducement has four elements: (1) a false statement of material fact; (2) the maker of the statement knew or should have known of the falsity of the statement; (3) the maker intended that the false statement induce another s reliance; and (4) the other party justifiably relied on the false statement to its detriment. It is vital that Diane s best interests are always on the foreground; her own priorities and her own desires will lead our assessment into future interventions. We are able to take apart the above question in four steps in order ascertain why this is a valid goal to attain for Diane. First, it is important to assess Diane s overall unmet needs. In understanding one s unmet needs, we are able to assist Diane in engaging in her own interactions and activities in her daily life (Beukelman Mirenda, 2013, p. 8). G(guanine)в†’A(adenine) transition accounts for 98% of all cases of ACH while the Gв†’C(cytosine) transversion mutation occurs in 1% of cases (6). Both of these mutations result in the amino acid arginine being substituted for glycine at codon 380 which is in the transmembrane of FGFR3 (1, 4, 17) (See Figure 1). The FGFR3 mutation is a gain of function mutation due to the resulting activation of receptors, which is opposite the normal inhibitory effect the FGFR3 has on the receptors, which upon activation, negatively regulate bone growth (4, 6). Abstract: Wheels are clearly safety related components and hence fatigue performance and the state of stress in the rim under various loading conditions are prime concerns. Further, wheels continue to receive a considerable amount of attention as part of industry efforts to reduce weight through material substitution and down gauging.Possible loading conditions on the metal rim are: (a) pressure due to inflation, (b) radial loading on the bead seat resulting from the weight of the automobile, and (c) local bending moments induced on the rim due to an offset. These are directly influenced by the width of the rim. In order to evaluate the effect of rim width on stress the rim is analyzes experimentally with constant inflation pressure and variation in rim width. Location of high stresses in the weld area is of major concern for welded rims. Typically, the disc is welded to the rim at the well area. A stethoscope is rounded into a circle to represent the earth while buildings represent all countries in the world we are living in. • 39. How Is Hagar Shipley An Unlikeable Character Pride of Living It is difficult for the reader to take an objective view of the characters in this novel, particularly Hagar Shipley, because of the first person nature of the story. Furthermore, it is also impossible not to dislike Hagar at times because of her detachment from the things that could bring her happiness. Hagar suffers from dysthymia, she is a victim of relational and social distance. Her past was not in her favor when contributing to her emotionally distant future. Hagar is portrayed as an unlikeable character being blinded by pride, and just overly bitter. While she may not be the hero or the villain (due to this type of story not having a demand of good vs evil) it does make the story more believable. In real life, there is no black and white when I come to personalities. Her personality may well be reflected as unpleasant at times but it does not necessarily make her a bad person. She cannot be described as the antagonist nor protagonist. In many instances, she displays actions of disapproval towards almost everyone in her life this is frustrating to readers at times because what is leading her to her unhappiness can easily be solved by a slight change in character. Hagar is in constant denial of her actions and the consequences that come with it. Hagar is blind to her own faults. Stubborn and resentful of everyone around her and won t let herself be happy and yet Hagar is the kind of character you root for, she strives for independence which no ... Why is Makita outselling Black and Decker 8 to 1 in an account that gives them equal shelf space? a. Makita provided a good baseline option in all major categories compared to other suppliers who had strengths in particular product(s) e.g. Skil provided good circular saws. b. Home Depot strategy of stocking 30K items at prices 30% less compare to traditional hardware stores with superior customer service helped Makita to gain marketplace dominance. Makita offered lower prices i.e. ~5% lower on average compared to B amp;D products. This also helped Makita to gain good perception from Tradesmen segment buyers as their product quality was reasonably good. 2. What should Joe Galli do? Why? c. I suggest to go with option 4 and use market products under DeWalt s brand in addition to existing B amp;D products. This would not hurt existing market share by much and there is great potential of taking away market share from Makita and other suppliers by launching products under a well reputable brand DeWalt in a different color. 3. However, as the year went on my cooperating teacher started to get her students to be solving two digit addition and subtractions problems. Before she started with two digit she wanted to be certain that her students felt confident along with concrete knowledge and examples in their one digit equations because if not, they would fall apart for two digit equations. My student at the beginning of two digit addition struggled with being organized in his base ten block drawings and would get the answer wrong because he would circle 11 ones instead of 10. When he got the opportunity to work with the actual base ten blocks he had a strong concept of regrouping. Before the lesson my cooperating teacher taught them how to do the standard algorithm, which my case study student took to excellent. During the process of the standard algorithm I asked him to walk me through what he was doing and the process. He explained that he carried the one over because it was making a new ten and then counted twenty plus thirty plus ten instead of 1 plus two plus three, which I felt like the was understanding the place value. I thought during the lesson if my student was advancing ways to challenge him on this assignment would be to have him add three two digit numbers or have him add one two digit and one three digit number. Then if I felt like my student was starting to struggle I could have his partner help him solve the process, bring out the base ten blocks, or have him just add one two digit and one digit numbers until he got the concept ... This study includes Organizational Practices , Male Culture Family and Social Commitments as the independent variables and their affect was shown on Women Career Progress which is the primary dependent variable of the study. The study was conducted on the mid aged Jordanian female managers employed in different sections of the different organizations. Researchers received 117 useable responses of those structured questionnaires. This research was an exploratory and analytical study. Reason for calling it an analytical study is that its interest is finding the factors that influence women career progress. A simple regression test s results showed that the first, second and third hypotheses were confirmed as expected earlier but when the researcher applied a multiple regression test the results supported the fourth hypothesis of the study. The study further shows the strong and significant relation of male culture and organizational practices with the women career progress. Women family commitments had the weakest positive relation with the women career progress. In this study ANOVA results confirmed the impact of glass ceiling barrier on the women ...
