Marijuana, in addition to not being a dangerous drug, has been documented to have practical
medical purposes and environmental purposes. The legalization of marijuana, a drug that the
criminalization of is so impossible to enforce, would not only not harm society, but could actually
benefit it. The question then becomes, how should legalization be approached? In addition to
legalization, the government must also educate people of the affects.
Legalizing drugs would allow them to be available to those who would benefit from their

The art gallery I visited was the El Paso Museum of Arts on April 8, 2017. After observing a
number of paintings and sculptures, I decided to write an analysis on a rather simple and calm
painting. The composition is by American born Susan Ricker Knox and is entitled Afternoon Tea.
The artwork has no specific date but states it was painted in the 1920s. The medium used is simply
oil on canvas. The overall compositional subject matter is two women, sitting back to back,
enjoying their hour with tea. Afternoon Tea by Susan Knox represents a tranquil scene about
leisure time that corresponds with the artwork s line, color, and pose. When I first glanced at this
painting, one cannot help but notice the overall fuzziness of the composition. The... Show more
All of the hues in the piece either lack are tints or shadows, lacking in saturation. Therefore, when
one views this work instead of feeling engulfed or perhaps even overwhelm by the canvas, like
when strong chroma of colors are used, the viewer is relaxed. With the color and brushstrokes, the
composition has a soft and fluffy quality which only adds to the tranquility of the scene. In addition
to the lack of intensity of the hues used in the work, Knox s use of analogous colors supplements
the composition s peaceful nature. The umbrella in the background of the composition has a teal hue
and the plant life in the background as well is a shadowed green. The shadowed green appearing
first to the left of the umbrella, and to the right of the umbrella. The analogous pair aiding in a
relaxing the viewer but also establishing unity through the rhythm of the repeated shadowed green.
