Essay On Food
Writing an essay on the topic of food may seem deceptively simple at first glance, given the
ubiquity of the subject in our daily lives. After all, we all eat, and food is an integral part of our
cultures, traditions, and personal experiences. However, delving into the complexities of this
seemingly straightforward topic reveals a myriad of challenges.
To begin with, the vastness of the subject requires careful consideration. Food encompasses a
broad spectrum, from the nutritional aspects to cultural significance, culinary traditions, historical
evolution, and even the social and economic dimensions. Deciding on a specific angle or focus
can be a daunting task, as each subtopic opens up a new realm of information and research.
Moreover, striking a balance between personal reflections and objective analysis can be
challenging. While personal anecdotes and experiences bring authenticity to the essay, it's crucial
to back them up with well-researched facts and expert opinions. Finding this equilibrium requires
skillful navigation to ensure the essay remains informative and engaging without becoming
overly subjective or detached.
The challenge intensifies when considering the diverse audience. Food preferences, cultural
backgrounds, and dietary restrictions vary widely, making it essential to craft an essay that
resonates with a broad readership. Ensuring inclusivity and avoiding stereotypes while
celebrating the diversity of food experiences requires finesse in language and cultural sensitivity.
Researching the historical aspects of food presents its own set of difficulties. Tracing the
evolution of culinary practices and the cultural significance of various cuisines demands thorough
investigation, often involving sifting through volumes of historical records, cookbooks, and
scholarly articles.
In the end, the difficulty lies not in the topic itself, but in the depth and breadth of exploration it
invites. Crafting a compelling essay on food requires a delicate balance between personal
reflections, objective analysis, cultural sensitivity, and extensive research. It is a task that
demands both creativity and scholarly rigor, making it a rewarding but challenging endeavor.

Deprivation Of Lethal Discourse
Deprivation of accepted resources is perhaps one of the lethal lapses mankind has
ever prepared in its voyage of progress and civilization. All the natural resources are
contaminated with lethal lapses. Among them the land and water resources are worst
affected and under continuous stress with both biotic and abiotic, due to
anthropogenic interventions. If we talk about the soul of infinite life i.e., SOIL then
it seems to appear the primary recipient by design or accident of a myriad of waste
products and chemicals used in modern society. Soil contamination can be defined as
the, addition of any substance to soil that may exert adverse effects on its
functioning and capacity to yield a crop. Contamination of heavy metal is of special

Why Do You Think Trophies Aren T For Everyone Essay

Trophies aren t for Everyone
(An analysis of, if trophies should be given to everyone )
Society has shifted in the way competition has worked, and will continue to change its
beliefs in how we should treat competition in young people. Is it really necessary that
every participant should receive a trophy? Or should only those that accomplished the
goal, earn one? In today s youth activities, it has become an American tradition, to
award all those that participate in the activity, whether they win or not. This is
perhaps a decision that many have faced, but in reality it will teach the children
about life. Because life isn t always fair, and there s nothing more atrocious than
giving a child a trophy for everything they do.
So now the question, Should kids get a trophy for participation? All in all, I oppose
to the fact that kids should earn a trophy for participating. For example, take the
coach of a soccer team, he should honor his team with treats after a well played
season, but not trophies. Trophies are a sign of accomplishment, and if a child gave
the coach a terrible attitude, then they shouldn t deserve one. It is as well as a little
excessive. If you continue to give your child trophies for ... Show more content on

The main focus should be to learn how to play sports, how to listen to a coach and
be part of a team. That in fact is very true. Sports are important, but one will not
always have them in life. Being a loser isn t always necessary a bad thing. If you
are given a trophy for everything you do, you will not learn how it feels to lose.
Losing makes people want to improve in what they aren t successful in. This
therefore is a motivator in what they want to be fortunate in and continue to strive in
Comparing Women In Macbeth And The Woman In Black
Women are presented in similar ways in The Woman in Black and Macbeth, both
writers use their female characters to create contrasts and raise questions about
women. Susan Hill s use of typical women of the time helps to contrast with the main
female character, sets the scene for this novel and also helps to bring some normality
to it. Susan Hill being able to create that image near the beginning of the novel of
what a good mother looks like using the archetypal mothers makes the personality of
Jennet Humfrye even more outrageously different. Furthermore, the Womanin Black s
powerful, commanding and dangerous character juxtaposed with the subservient
typical women such as Isobel, Esme and Stella and the emotional and affectionate

Both writers explore the struggle for power and the limitations of being a woman.
The writers nevertheless, have some differences in the messages they are trying to
convey, as Shakespeare experiments with the inclusion of masculinity in his female
protagonist as Lady Macbeth is the dominant one in her relationship with Macbeth.
Susan Hill also touches upon this as the Woman in Black could be interpreted as
showing the effects of having unique characteristics for a woman of her time.
Moreover, Susan Hill explores the family structure and whether the whole notion is
obsolete. The roles of women in both texts are clear and relevant for their contexts,
although some experimental individuality is
Essay On Intimate Enemies
Intimate Enemies, (L Ennemi intime), a French war film based on the Algerian war,
presents a convincing portrayal of the psychological trauma of French soldiers
fighting against Algerian insurgents. This movie reminded me of the barbarity of war
and its detrimental effects on the people involved.
The movie takes place in the remote and mountainous regions of Algeria in 1959
where the French army is fighting with the Fellagha (Algerian insurgents). The
soldiers there are joined by Lieutenant Terrien who is a new, naГЇve and idealistic
officer. Terrien quickly faces events that challenge his moral beliefs such as village
massacres, prisoner tortures and shooting of civilians. Initially he resists the savagery
of the other soldiers and officers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Terrien states that if an order is morally unacceptable, then you should refuse it sir.
The captain counters that the FLN uses vile methods too, similar to how people were
treated in Vietnam. He contends that the warfare in Vietnam and Algeria was less
military but more psychological. Interestingly, Terrien responds by questioning the
nature of Algeria with regards to France. If Algeria is France, then why are
Algerians not treated equally as French citizens? The captain replies, You ll come
around, just like we all did. The nature and system of the conflict was the issue, not
the actual atrocities committed by both sides. Those wrongful attacks or methods
were results of the main political differences of the French and Algerians. For me, I
wonder if France truly tried to assimilate Algeria and give Algerians the same
citizenship and rights as Frenchmen, would the FLN be this violent and adamant
about independence? It was clear in this movie (and in Battle of Algiers) that the
FLN initially was a minority in Algeria but due to French counterinsurgency, the
majority decided to pick the lesser of two
Globalization Of Mcdonaldization
McDonalds is a fast food company that was founded in the 1940 s. In McDonalds
short existence it has revolutionized not only the fast food industry, but the way in
which business is conducted world wide. What the McDonald brothers and then
Ray Kroc set out to accomplish was a business model that standardized all aspects
of operation, in order to make expansion effortless. So great their power of growth
that McDonalds now has over 31 thousand stores in over 118 countries. So iconic
that the average US school child can recognize Ronald McDonald. Ritzer describes
McDonaldization as ...the process by which the principles of the fast foodrestaurant
are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as of
the rest of the world (Ritzer, 1993:1). This penetration by the ideal of
McDonaldization can be seen in our school system. School systems are moving
towards producing graduates, as apposed to imparting knowledge. Currently in the
US we have over 13,000 McDonalds, and according to Ritzer the US only contains
half of the worlds McDonalds (Ritzer, 2013:287). These figures show that globally
we are moving towards producing for consumers, standardized products. McDonald s
has become a company that incorporated economics, psychology and sociology in its
business plan to dominate the world of fast food. One in which many other
enterprises try to emulate. American culture has gained from the advent of
McDonaldization . We have gained access to a larger supply of goods at competitive
cost. We have gained safety from increased standardization. However, the American
culture has suffered negatives from McDonaldization . The process of
Mcdonaldization extracts all that is unique about the different cultures of the world,
and creates a homogenized world with the sole goal of creating a consumer society.
In this paper what the world has lost through Mcdonaldization in contrast to what it
has gained will be discussed. Also the dangers of creating a consumer society.
Negatives to McDonaldization While eating at McDonalds it may feel as if we are
surrounded with countless choices, but in fact through the process of
McDonaldization many of these choices are made for us. McDonalds in effort to
Tyranny Dbq
How the Constitution Prevents Tyranny Tyranny, a threat against America, is
prevented through the concepts of the United States Constitution. The Constitution
was written in Philadelphia, the year 1787. Before that there was the Articles of
Confederation, the first document used for the United States government that gave
too much power to the states; allowing tyranny to occur. It was also very weak due
to having no chief executive and no court system. James Madison had the job of
framing the Constitution in order to get rid of tyranny in the government. Framing,
in this situation; is the job of creating the new constitution. Tyranny, explained by
James Madison; is the accumulation of all powers... in the same hands, whether of
one, a few, or many. It comes in different forms, such as tyranny by a few. Tyranny
by a few is when several generals or religious leaders seize control. Tyranny through

Lombroso s Biological Theory Of Crime
Introduction:
Italy is a country in Europe, well known and distinctly identified on maps by its
shape of a boot that is flanked by the neighbouring countries of France, Switzerland,
Austria and Slovenia. As of May, 2016, the current population of Italy is
approximately 60 million people. On the one hand, Italy is a country of grand culture,
scenic landscapes, rugged mountains, and rich history and art. On the other hand,
Italy is an important gateway and client of Latin American cocaine and Asian heroin
entering the European market, money laundering by organized crime, and various
smuggling operations. Italian mafia activity accounts for fourteen percent (14%) of
Italy s GDP (gross domestic product), which is one of the primary indicators ... Show

The Italian School of Criminology was interested in why some persons engaged in
criminal behaviour and other persons did not. The school s thinking was that some
people had a biological inclination and tendency for crime. Lombroso believed that
certain individuals with this biological trait could be identified by specific
physical deformations and disfigurements: extended jaws, drooping eyes, large
ears, flattened noses, longer arms and fingers, sloping shoulders, and a lower back
that jutted outward. Lombroso had conducted his research for this theory in the
Italian prison system, collecting detailed and specific physical measurements of
prisoners and comparing the measurements with those of regular Italian citizens.
Lombroso aimed to prove that criminals were atavists biological throwbacks from
early human evolution, who engaged in criminal activity and violence because it
was an instinctive trait. During a post mortem autopsy on a man named Giuseppe
Villella, a notorious Calabrian thief and arsonist, Lombroso wrote, At the sight of
that skull, I seemed to see all of a sudden, lighted up as a vast plain under a flaming
sky, the problem of the nature of the criminal an atavistic being who reproduces in
his person the ferocious instincts of primitive humanity and the inferior animals.
Thus were explained anatomically the enormous jaws, high cheek bones, prominent
superciliary arches, solitary lines in the palms, extreme size of the orbits, handle
shaped or sessile ears found in criminals, savages and apes, insensibility to pain,
extremely acute sight, tattooing, excessive idleness, love of orgies and the
irresistible craving for evil for its own sake, the desire not only to extinguish life in
the victim, but to mutilate the corpse, tear its flesh, and drink
Thomas J. Stanley s The Millionaire Next Door
Do you judge people based on looks, and appearance or on their actual lives? Most
people like me, come to a conclusion right away, when you see a person, and judge
them based on first appearance, and then you automatically have expectation from
that person. But looks can be deceiving. One example that fits in this category is
distinguishing between the rich and the actual people who have wealth. Thomas J.
Stanley in his book called The Millionaire Next Door discusses in length how rich
people act versus the show offs . The key to becoming rich starts with you how you
are disciplined in your behavior towards spending, and knowing the difference
between what you need and what you want , as well as making other smart
financial decisions. Stanley really engages the reader to continue on reading, and
finding out more about how to become successful, and detect false advertisement of
rich people , which is why his book was and still so successful, and helped out a lot
of people, including me. One way that Stanley helps the reader to continue... Show

This relates to different matters. First of all, the kids of wealthy parents, should not
depend on their parent s money, and they should learn how to become independent
on their own. This applies to common people like me as well, in that we should not
rely on someone to bail us out, like our parents, and that way we can control where
our money comes and goes. Being rich is one thing, staying rich is a totally
different category from what I learned in this book. Knowing what is more important
to you is also part being disciplined, because that way you will not spend money on
worthless items like so many people with high incomes do, and they end up not

John Steinbeck s East of Eden
Biblical Symbolism in East of Eden
Throughout the novel East of Eden, Steinbeck uses many biblical references to
illustrate clearly the conflict between the opposing forces of good and evil. Much
of the plot of East of Eden is centered upon the two sets of brothers representing
Cain and Abel. Both pairs are similar to Cain and Abel in the way they go about
winning their fathers favors. All four give gifts to their fathers, and the fathers
dismiss the gifts of Charles and Caleb, the Cain representations (Marks, Jay Lester.
p.121). Caleb and Charles Trask are obviously the more malignant brothers. They are
also the more loving towards their father. Steinbeck s purpose in this is to illustrate
the need of the Cain character in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cathy Kate combines many biblical figures as well. She is not only Eve, but she is
Cain s wife and the serpent of Eden as well (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). Thus she is
the representation of evil too. Cathy is evil to the point where she is not human.
Her presence in the novel is meant to represent evil and all of its cruel intentions.
All of her deeds are intended to show how far from the real world Cathy actually is
(Howard, Levant. p. 245). Steinbeck compares Cathy to other prostitutes in Salinas
Valley, the setting of Eastof Eden. She is described as the only whore who is
incapable of being a good person. She is an inhuman being whose life revolves
around cruelty and wrongdoing. She is solely satanic and destroys the innocence of
man (Marks, Jay Lester. p. 126 127).
John Steinbeck includes more of the tale of Genesis: 4 than is actually told in the
bible. The basis of this is a Jewish story involving twin sisters of both Cain and
Abel. The two disputed over Abel s twin whom Abel was to marry. Cain murdered
Abel and wed the twin sister of his brother (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). The story
differs also in that it is Abel who leaves his home instead of Cain. Abel found his
Eden, represented by Salinas Valley, but lost it after fathering a second generation
very similar to the first, Caleb representing Cain and Aron representing Abel
(Fonterose, Joseph. p.3379). The story is changed by Steinbeck to illustrate

The Fault in Our Stars Essay
The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves, that we are underlings.
(Act 1. Scene 2. Julius Caesar.) This pensive line was the inspiration behind the title
of John Green s work of fiction, The Fault in Our Stars. The novel follows young
Hazel Grace Lancaster, a stage 4 thyroid cancer patient, who makes the acquaintance
of Augustus Waters one fateful day at Support Group. Throughout the novel, Hazel
Grace takes not only a physical journey but an emotional one. The ups and downs of

Also, Isaac from Support Group is a strong supporting character. He is Augustus
best friend and the reason Gus and Hazel even met in the first place. Isaac also
became a way for the reader to glimpse the story from a different perspective. One in
which love conquers all, despite anything and everything. Next is Mr. Peter Van
Houten. Mr. Van Houten, author of Hazel s favorite book, An Imperial Affliction, is
a complex character who also played a fundamental part. Hazel initially felt that Mr.
Van Houten was the only person who understood how she felt. After meeting him, she
witnesses his true colours. Van Houten is nothing more than an angry drunk who
became consumed by grief. Hazel realizes she doesn t want to turn into him so she
makes the conscious decision that she ll be better than him. Finally, Mr. and Mrs.
Lancaster were always supportive of their daughter through her trials and managed to
be completely honest with her about the reality of things.
John Green is truly a gifted writer. There are various images that can be read
symbolically and metaphorically. Most of them are water metaphors. Augustus
Waters, Hazel having water in her lungs, a drowning city, and the color blue. These
are noteworthy metaphors which I believe are stemmed from the fact that water is
both a destructive force and one which we thrive on for life. Furthermore, various
other non water related metaphors are scribed in the novel along with more

In The Omnivores Dilemma Michael Pollen s objective is address, educate and
convince the reader by analyzing our diets. He mentions we have become oblivious
to what we are eating. Sometimes we wonder where our food comes from, and what
ingredients are in it. Pollan states, we would rather eat in ignorance (11). The
underlying message here is if people know what they are eating, they might not be
able to eat comfortably again. Pollan uses this message to gain the reader s attention.
Pollan creates an illustration to help the audience visualize his experience. He also
implements personal anecdotes and compare contrast techniques to effectively
persuade the reader, that what they are eating is unhealthy.
Today omnivores have a wide selection of food to choose from. It is difficult for
omnivores to decide what to eat. Pollan uses the example The koala doesn t worry
about what to eat: If it looks and smells and tastes like a eucalyptus leaf, it must be
dinner (3). Pollan is using figurative language which requires the reader to use their
imagination. In addition he is referring to our alienation with food. We can no longer
pick up something without questioning what it is comprised of. Omnivores have a
wide selection of food and a koala only has one. Another comparison Pollan makes is
The hunter gatherer picking a novel mushroom off the forest floor and consulting his

Idiomatic expressions are a type of informal English that have a meaning different
from the meaning of the words in the expression.
Here s an example of an idiomatic expression: Hold your tongue.
This idiom does not actually mean that you should stick your fingers in your mouth
and grab a hold of your tongue. It means that you should not talk. People hold their
tongues when they are in situations where they want to talk, but it would be better if
they didn t. So, while their tongue is ready to do some talking, they hold it and don t
say anything.
Every language has idioms, and they can be difficult to learn if you are not a native
speaker of that language. The best thing to do ... Show more content on

Analysis Of Donald Trump s President Of The Kentucky...
On Tuesday, February 1, 2016: GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump held a
campaign rally in Louisville, KY at the Kentucky International Convention Center. As
political science minors, my friend and I seized upon the perfect opportunity to
experience the upcoming 2016 presidential election firsthand and to also understand
Donald Trump s appeal and gain insight from those choosing to support him. The
following paper will be an unbiased evaluation of Donald Trump as a speaker and his
attempts to convey why he should become the republican presidential nominee and
the next president of the United States.
As mentioned the purpose of Donald Trump s rally is showcase why he should
become the republican presidential nominee and what he will seek to achieve if
president of the United States. Throughout the rally, Trump utilized pathos, logos,
and ethos to convey his central idea. To begin, pathos, the quality to arouse an
emotion, Trump s achieved this by mentioning his family. Traditional family values
are important to most republican voters and by bringing his son up on stage to
briefly addressed the crowd. Logos, a statement, sentence or argument used to
convince or persuade the targeted audience by employing reason or logic. As always,
Trump mentioned multiple times his resume as a real estate mogul and his ability to
create jobs signifying that he is the candidate that can truly rebound the United States
economy from the 2008 recession. He also used statistics of the current
Jeffrey s Underlying Themes In The Film Blue Velvet
In many motion pictures, underlying themes and values are often hidden amongst
more superficial demonstrations and ideas. In the film, Blue Velvet, Jeffrey the
protagonist is trying to solve a crime while at the same time he is really exploring
this other world of explicit sexuality that is opened by his new found desire
towards Dorothy Vallen, a mysterious and interesting woman that has ties to the
crime. This new desire that Jeffrey has towards Dorothy is noted throughout the
film as he slowly loses a grip on who he is. The idea of Jeffrey losing his grip of
who he really is, is illustrated when he lies to Dorothy to get into her apartment, steals
her keys, and then later sneaks into her apartment and watches her undress. In the

He then got on top of her while Jeffrey hid in the closet. Jeffrey hiding in the closet
illustrates the idea of Frank being the monster in this situation. Frank took the role
of the monster because Jeffrey fear towards Frank shifted to a desire to be in Frank
s position. As Jeffrey watched Frank take advantage of Dorothy his body language
showed signs of both fear and arousal. His eyes never left sight of Frank, his
breathing was sporadic and he remained silent he entire time. Jeffrey saw Frank s
actions as a temporary break from reality. Leading up to this Jeffrey never saw
someone like Frank before, Frank s sexual actions towards Dorothy symbolize the
linking of monstrosity with the forbidden, thus leading to temporary escape from
reality in the eyes of Jeffrey. In turn, the film Blue Velvet demonstrates the idea of
there being a grey lie between sex and violence, illustrating thatsex and violence are
interwoven. This idea is explored through the actions of Jeffrey, Dorothy, and Frank
throughout the movie. Their actions in the film demonstrate the idea that fear from
a monster acts as a temporary escape from reality in the form of a fantasy. This
fantasy in turn shifts the idea of fear towards a monster into the idea of desire

Violent Video Games And Prosocial Behavior
Introduction Section The study was conducted because there were very few
studies in the past about violent video games affecting prosocial behavior Also
because since there s a positive correlation between aggressive behavior, they want
to know if there s a negative correlation between violent video games and prosocial
behavior. They did research on previous studies that linked violent video games
with aggressive behavior and mindset. They also looked at previous studies testing
if violent video games affect helpful behavior. These experiments either had
unreported results or showed no difference in behavior. The researchers thought
they could do a better experiment and prove that violent video games have a
negative effect on positive behavior. The hypothesis was the participants who
played the extra violent video games will be less charitable and assigned more
difficult puzzles to other, while the ones who played the non violent video games
will be the opposite. Method Sections There were 120 participants. They were first
year students from an intro psychology. They were mostly males, about 88%. They
were also about 68% Caucasian, 25% Asian, and the rest were other . All
participants were regular gamers and played a least one day a week. There were
three categories: non violent games, violent games, and ultra violent games. The
violent games had an age restriction of 15+ and the ultra violent games were 18+.
There were two different games per category. The participants
A Box Of Puppies Frank Dunham Summary
How to Move the Reader: Connections
When someone reads a piece of writing, what moves them? What choices does the
author deliberately make that hooks the reader and makes them want to read more?
This essay explores common themes and structural choices that three authors made
while writing their essays. Lena Dunham, the author of A Box of Puppies writes an
entertaining piece of creative non fiction which is written in the metaphorical sense.
Dunham writes about finding a box of puppies and what her family s reaction would
be if she came home with the puppies. Another creative writing piece, Unprotected, is
written from the first person perspective of the object, which is a condom. The
condom starts its story from when it was made and ... Show more content on

Towards the end of the essay, there is an ambulance that comes by Dunham s
apartment. Her dog starts to panic and bark very loudly. She then says, At 5:07

I m here. I ve been waiting for you for so long. Before I even knew about you, I
was waiting for you. When you were born, I was only twenty five years old
(Dunham 4). Though Dunham vowed to never buy a dog ever again, she ends up
getting a dog because she is so desperate to be loved. Dunham doesn t feel truly
loved by anyone else in her life and feels that if she gets a dog, she can love and be
loved unconditionally. In Rich s Unprotected , the condom explains how he was
almost thrown away one night but is put in a shoebox. He says, I spend long, long
time in shoebox. There is receipt La Cucina, on which is now written, First Date.
When I arrive, I am new guy. But as time passes I become veteran. I welcome many

of the objects that signifies their love for each other and the good memories that the
two share. Not only do Jordi and Rachel have objects that show their love and their
memories, but the objects also associate love with Jordi and Rachel. They too love
Jordi and Rachel because they have spent so much time with him. Other themes that
are discussed in these two pieces are relationships and their importance to the

Negotiation Strategies Addressing Potential Conflicts at...
Negotiation Strategies
Negotiation strategies addressing potential conflicts in the workplace
Negotiation is a traditional concept which refers to the process of reaching particular
decisions through organised and participatory dialogue between two or more parties.
The essence is that the parties must come together and agree to address a particular
issue or situation. Negotiation only becomes successful if particular and important
issues are first put into place in order to enhance the process. Indeed, in most cases,
the negotiation process is a preserve of particular people considering its intricate
nature. So important amongst the strategies in the negotiation process is the aspect of
emotional understanding. It is normally imperative that each of the negotiating
parties understands the feelings and emotions of the other parties so that such issues

Normally, most negotiations fail because the participants are never acquainted with
the relevant aspects regarding the issues or are never in a position effectively relay
their thoughts. As a negotiator, one must learn how

The Untold Story Of Silk Road Analysis
In the article The Untold Story of Silk Road, by Joshuah Bearman, he writes about
Ross Ulbricht, describing the history and the founder of this underground black
market named the Silk Road. In 2011, Ross Ulbricht, a materials scientist, started a
new way to sell and buy drugs. An ideology of a libertarian utopia, free from
governments prying eyes would be the basis of this site. Dreaming of a website
that would be a black market to buy and sell drugs, Ulbricht created and fostered
what he would call The Silk Road. The site saw major success with millions of

He was raised in a tight family who parents built houses in Costa Rica. Ulbricht was
an intelligent individual who excelled in school despite using various drugs, such
as marijuana and different psychedelics. By all accounts, Ulbricht was an Eagle
Scout as described by his friends and family. Later in life he would graduate with a
masters in material science and engineering. He would move on to start several
businesses, most failed. One of the few businesses that would succeed would be
his bookstore, Good Wagon Books that he founded with his roommate at the time.
Ulbricht would give back to the community by hiring college students to work for
him. This all collapsed on him when he had made an oversight in the construction
of the book selves. Once he began the Silk Road, Ulbricht attempted to keep it
secret from his family and close friends. He would tell lies and lead a double life in
order to remain under the radar. One example of this was when he was dating a girl
named Jessica. Ulbricht agonized over the fact that he could not be more intimate
with her and had to resort to deceit to keep his secrets hidden. Over time Ulbricht
would become more corrupt. Having a false sense of security from law enforcement
through the dark web caused him to become arrogant and ignorant of the things that
were happening around him. He would write in his journal It was time to bring in

Discourse Communities
A discourse community is a group of communicators with common goals or purposes
that use communication to achieve these goals. A disclosure community goals
influence specific genres it uses, and the expectations for communication. Some
students here in college have yet to know what they want to major in. Being in the
disclosure community has many different options to chose from. The varieties go
from radio broadcasting to audio mixing. There is also sports analysis and Video
production. The specific major that I chose was video production. As I said before
many collegestudents are undecided in what they want to major in, and for me I
believe that majoring in a communications class like this is highly recommended.
Radio broadcasting is a part of the disclosure community and a major you can study
specifically. Radio broadcasting is a wireless transmission over radio waves
intended to reach an audience, and communicate to people around the world.
Broadcasting around the world gives students the chance to explore in things they
have never explored in such as; learning how to work the computer on air systems,
broadcast consoles, and digital recorders. Majoring in radio broadcasting you also
have to learn how to speak through the microphone and use varieties of tones while
communicating to the outside world. Learning how to work... Show more content on

74). In the example of Airbnb and other share economy companies the transparency
of the costs of goods is straight forward due to no hidden costs and the transaction
taking place directly between the buyer and seller and no intermediaries. The impact
of this visibility also has an effect on companies that are not part of the share
economy. The visibility of prices makes for a more competitive market. Non share
economy companies face the possibility of having to lower their prices to match
share economy companies.
The share economy concept is creating new value for consumers and also replacing
existing businesses. The ability for consumers to rent tools, bicycles, homes or other
physical assets versus buying these items at higher prices, then renting creates a
better value for the consumer. This ability also creates the fallback for existing
businesses because they may not be able to compete with the pricing that the share
economy concept can offer. Existing businesses use different pricing strategies due to
the nature of their business and overhead costs, whereas companies that do not have
to consider these elements in their pricing strategy and can offer lower prices.
The new concept of share economy has both positive and negative impacts for the
overall marketplace. There is potential for consumers to get a great deal and for
individuals to

Extreme Sports Not About Risk Taking Study
A wise person once said, The proper function of man is to live, not exist. I shall not
waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time. This quote explains that
we should not waste our time and actually do something worth living for. That we
should use the time we have to do or become something, instead of wasting it. We
should use this in our life just like how extreme sports athletes did. The only
difference is that their path is riskier than ours because they do many dangerous
activities such as Base Jumping, Cave Diving, and BMX. Extreme sports are a good
idea because you get to be in the moment and feel the rush, but you should take some
precautions because it can be very dangerous.

Hedge Funds And Hedge Fund
Hedge Funds are actively managed instruments with flexible mandates that allow
fund managers to invest opportunistically in long and short positions across all asset
classes.
This type of investment vehicle has existed for over half a century. The first hedge
fund was created by Alfred Winslow Jones in 1949.
His strategy, while simple, had never been used in the asset management world. His
idea was to buy stocks which seemed undervalued and short those which presented
the worst outlook. This strategy allowed him to protect himself against a fall in the
equity markets. He later started using leverage in order to improve his returns by
taking additional risk.
Even though his hedge fund outperformed long only asset managers for many years,

ii) Equity Hedge Funds:
a) What are the different subcategories?
We are mostly interested by the classic equity hedge funds, also known as long short
funds, and more specifically we would like to know how they differ from long only
funds in terms of performance and risk.
As we have mentioned above, this is the oldest hedge fund investment style but it
comes in many different forms: quantitative or fundamental, broadly diversified or
highly concentrated, market neutral or directional. Furthermore, some strategies use
more leverage and focus on individual market sectors or factors.
In their paper, Hedge Funds with style , Brown and Goetzmann (2001) have
described the most popular strategies used by hedge funds and furthermore they have
tried explaining the impact of the different styles on performance. They looked at the
performance of each strategy, from 1989 to 2000, and learned that the choice of style
impacts returns circa 20 percent of the time. This would in turn have an effect on the
risk return trade off, stressing how crucial the fund s style and management are.
They have used statistical models (regressions and ANOVA tables) to analyze the
variability between the performances of seventeen fund strategies. The results
revealed that eight of those styles had high RВІ and adjusted RВІ, meaning that

Cruelty In Kingsolver s The Poisonwood Bible
The Theme of Cruelty in The Poisonwood Bible In Kingsolvers novel,The
Poisonwood Bible, the characters are subjected to physical and physiological
cruelty due to the actions and imperiousness of the perpetrator and antagonist
Nathan Price. The Poisonwood Bible is told in a series of chronological accounts
from the women of Price family in which the reader sees the cruelty and misfortune
they endure in their everyday life in the Congo. In the end, cruelty pushes the Price
family to the breaking point and the whole family decides to leave Nathan in the
village as he loses what is little left of his sanity. Although Nathan s motives for

Throughout the novel, Nathan exhibits cruelty towards his family and the
villagers. Cruelty is a direct antonym of Love. Looking back to the Bible, Paul
states in a letter to the: And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the
greatest of these is love ( New International Version, 1 Corinthians 13:13). While
Nathan may be spreading faith and hope, because of his cruelty, he is certainly not
showing love, which according to scripture is the most important. Instead of
loving his wife Orleanna, Nathan rebukes her many times for no reason and even
acts out in physical cruelty by roughly batting Orleanna away as she tried to nurse
his wounds. Nathan s actions are again hypocritical and go directly against the
Bible says. Paul, in another letter, writes Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ
loved the church and gave himself up for her. (Ephesians 5:25). Ultimately Nathan
is not able to convince any of the villagers to be baptized because he has not
showed love and therefore not God to them. John, another apostle, states to a church
that is struggling with false prophets: Whoever does not love does not know God,
because God is love (1 John 4:8). One may conclude from these verses that even
though Nathan Price may have some knowledge of the Bible, he truly does not know

motivated they would be to obtain GB certification. According to Sheehi (2011) the
green belt candidate is said to differ from the Black Belt Candidate only by nature of
being part time. Consequently they should possess the same level of knowledge and
statistical skills as the Black Belt.
Question: What evidence was presented to support the research and achieve the
research goal?
Answer:
The literature review explains the challenges faced and the approach that was taken
to mitigate the problem of a shortage of research in the required areas. Their
literature suggested that as long as there was enough information in the high quality
peer reviewed journals, a study could be performed. Additionally the study was
broadened by using lesser known journals that were still of a high quality. IS
process studies were used to validate the findings and also to define key terms such
as efficiency and process and how they tie together.
Question: What research methodology used and who claims this methodology is valid
?
Answer:
The methodology used was a two phased approach based on the research of Straub
(1989) and Levy (2006). The first phase consisted of a web based open ended
questionnaire that was used to develop a theoretical framework for determining the
GB candidates
Fall Of Disco
The Rise and Fall of Disco
The birth of Disco had a huge influence on the American culture in the 1970s. It
reached far beyond music and into fashion, club culture, and film. Disco was
created in Philadelphia and New York City in the late 1960s and early 1970s,
formed by people in reaction to the popularity of rock music and the lack of
progress of dance music in the late 60s. First heard in nightclubs for many minority
groups including Italians, Latinos, blacks, gays, and hippies, it was embraced by
women, as well as men, and many female entertainers came into fame because of
disco music.
The enthusiastic dance moves and vivacious sound of Disco gave young people a
reprieve from what movie critic Roger Ebert called the general depression ... Show

The disco style was steadily swapped out with Punk Rock anti fashion. The disco
look was considered too dramatic and out of touch with the day s politics. Anti
disco bitterness grew among rock fans who started displaying anti disco slogans on
their t shirts. Rock supporters were rebelling against disco and called rockers like
Rod Stewart and David Bowie sell outs for producing disco music. Rockers thought
disco music was shallow and useless, while their music was often political and
radical. A publicity stunt on July 12, 1979 by the Chicago White Sox association had
fans bring disco albums to destroy between games. It eventually culminated in a riot

Summary Of A Short Story
On a dark and stormy night, Meg Murry tosses and turns in her attic bedroom. She
is unable to fall asleep because she is preoccupied with all that seems wrong in her
life: she doesn t fit in at school; her high school teachers have just threatened to
drop her down a grade on account of her poor academic performance; and worst of
all, her father has been missing for many years and no one has heard from him.
Meg hears her family s big black dog Fortinbras barking downstairs, and she begins
to worry that a stranger may be skulking around the house; she suspects the tramp
who, according to local gossip, recently stole twelve bed sheets from the constable
s wife, Mrs. Buncombe. Dismissing her fears as silly and attempting to calm her
nerves, Meg decides to make herself some cocoa in the kitchen. She is surprised to
find her five year old brother Charles Wallace waiting for her at the kitchen table,
though she notes that Charles always seems capable of reading her mind. Mrs.
Murry soon joins her children, and tells Meg that she has received a call from Mrs.
Henderson, the mother of the boy Meg had beaten up at school that day. Meg
complains to her mother that she hates being an oddball at school. She wishes she
were more ordinary like her twin younger brothers, Sandy and Dennys. Mrs. Murry
tells Meg that she needs to learn the meaning of moderation, the importance of
finding a happy medium. Charles then comments that he has spoken about Meg s
problems with his friend Mrs. Whatsit, though he refuses to explain who this woman
is. As Charles Wallace is preparing sandwiches for his mother and sister, Fortinbras
begins to bark loudly again. Mrs. Murry goes outside to find the cause of the
commotion. She returns with Charles s mysterious friend Mrs. Whatsit, an eccentric
tramp completely bundled up in wet clothes. Mrs. Whatsit explains that she glories in
nights of such wild weather, but that tonight she has been blown off course in the
storm. Charles asks her why she stole bed sheets from Mrs. Buncombe, confirming
Meg s suspicion that Mrs. Whatsit is the neighborhood tramp. After removing her
boots and drying her feet, Mrs. Whatsit suddenly remarks that there is such a thing as
a tesseract and then hurries out
World War I Was The First Major War
World War I was the first major war where technology was relied on more than the
troops themselves. After what was called the Second Industrial Revolution most
major countries started to create new technologies that in the end would pave the
way for World War I. These technologies ranged from the most used everyday
things all the way up to specific types of weaponry to be used in specific scenarios
along the trenches. Most of these technologies of war, developed from common
civilian or household items, these could only result in better use in war. These
machines of war are so vast and expansive in type, but they are all technologies that
would have needed to have been used to bring the war to a close. Not only were
machines a large part but so was Scientific technologies, and innovations that saved
or took the lives of many. In many European countries two major types of
transportation reigned over the newer types, these being ships and trains. Both were
used extensively and the usage of them would carry into World War I
, changing
tactics armies took and the speed of their movement as well as their survival. Ships
were used mainly for larger distances ( ie: America to Europe ) where Trains were
only able to carry smaller things along the front or from certain Capitals to the front
itself. The usage of the trains allowed for the movement of shells that were
continually made in factories on the home front, the shells could be run along from
the Factories to the shelling
Straw Man Fallacy Essay
Every day people want to convince others that their ideas are the right ones. People
will engage in arguments to try to prove their claims with reasoning. However,
many times, the individuals reasoning behind their claims are faulty and
erroneously tries to prove their claims. Such type of reasoning is called a fallacy.
One particular type of fallacy is called the Straw Man fallacy. In a Straw Man
fallacy, a proponent intentionally misrepresents the opponent s argument to facilitate
the process of discrediting it. Analogously, it is much easier to defeat an individual
made of straw than it is to defeat one made of flesh and blood (Copi, 113). In similar
fashion, in a Straw Man, the proponent will use morally questionable and unfair...

He distorted Clinton s stance on immigration to discredit her. Clinton later
confirmed that she was in fact referring to commerce of goods and energy, not to
letting people freely into the country. Although Clinton has differing views on the
issue of immigration from Trump, she has not claimed she favors the entrance
illegal immigrants into the country, instead, she favors an immigration reform for
those illegal immigrants already in the country, especially if they have been in the
country since they were a child (Immigration Reform). According to the detailed
immigration reform page on her website, Clinton is actually in favor of enforcing
immigration laws, as long as they reasonable and humane (Immigration Reform).
The use of the Straw Man fallacy may only do more harm to the proponent. In
Trump s case, there is a risk that his listeners will recognize the unfair distortion of
Clinton s claim (Copi, 113). They could also recognize his argument as fallacious.
And by recognizing the fallacy, people could question his fitness as a presidential
candidate, given that there is a high level of seriousness attached to a president s
behavior.
By committing the Straw Man fallacy, Trump is less likely to win an
argument against his opponent. In order to
The Challenger Tragedy
The Challenger has had a total of 10 space missions. Including the Challenger
Tragedy. The first ship was the STS 6 spaceship. It was launched on April 4, 1983.
The mission was to deploy the first Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) into
orbit. There were 4 people on that spaceship. Their names were Paul J. Weitz,
Karol J. Bobko, F. Story Musgrane, and Donald H. Peterson. They landed on April
9, 1983. The second spaceship was the STS 7. It was launched in June 18, 1983.
The STS 7 was the first spaceship that took an American woman into space. Her
name was Sally K. Ride. The crew deployed several spaceships on their mission. The
crew was Robert L. Crippen, Frederick H. Hauck, John M. Fabian, Sally K. Ride, and

Investigations started after the explosion. People and NASA workers were trying
to figure out what had caused the explosion. After the Challenger exploded it fell
in to the water below. They were able to recover some of the spacecraft and gear.
All 7 people on the Challenger were instantly killed. Luckily there were pictures
and videos for the investigation. On one picture right before the launch you could
see a little smoke coming out of the right Solid Rocket Booster. People also found
plume coming out of the SRB (Solid Rocket Booster) at T+ 58.788 seconds. Plume
is a column of one fluid moving through another. Basically, plume is the stuff that
comes out of the bottom of the rocket is in the air. At T+ 64.238 seconds the plume
started to change shape. That indicated that there was a leak in the liquid hydrogen
tank. Investigators found that an O ring failure had caused the leak. Since it was
so cold the O ring had broken. If they wouldn t have launched it under 53* F maybe
this wouldn t have happened. This was the last challenger to ever take off. This
was history and is still remembered today. All of the crew members that died in the
explosion were returned to their families. They were buried and had funeral
ceremonies. It was a sad and tragic day for everybody in the United States of
How Did Sears Transformed America
Sears Transformed America. It Deserves to Die With dignity
Sears which was the largest retailer in U.S more than 50 years ago, lost $748
million in the last quarter of 2016 from falling sales. The article explains that the
reason behind the severe financial loss came back to bad decision that sears made
after world war II.
Sears began in 1886 as a watch company, founded by Richard W. Sears. The article
explains that Sears was a successful retailor the same as Wal Mart during 1890 till
1930s. The Sears catalog could be found in every home in America. In early 1900s,
Sears was famous for its mail order delivery. In 1925, Sears had no physical stores in
the United States. The country was changing and many people were now moving to
city centers. Accordingly, new chain retailors began to start popularity. Sears joined
the market by opening their own retail locations. Sears experienced great success. At
the end of 1929, it had 300 stores in U.S. This strategy puts sears as one of the most

Sears actively started its expansion plan, and building new massive stores. In 1973,
Sears built a new headquarters located in Chicago called Sears Tower. At that time,
it was the tallest building in the world. By the 1980s, Sears was not only expanding
but also diversifying into different businesses like Allstate car insurance, Dean
Witter financial services, and discover credit cards. Although the expanding decision
helped the company for a while, it has a huge cost for the company. The problem
was that these new business lines had very few synergies with Sears core
Plastic Bags And Its Effects On The Universe
Nowadays, the use of plastic bags has increased. It can be seemed that plastic bags
are really needed by everyone especially for their daily life. Comparing to the past
in the early 1950s when people still used the paper bags instead of plastic bags.
Literally, plastic bags are very useful for human, but at the same time it is also
bring disadvantages. Plastic is made from fossil fuel sources, such as natural gas
and petroleum. It is not biodegradable and it will always exist. This is why the
excessive use of plastic bags poses an adverse effect on the universe. Besides, it
remains toxic even after they break down. Even for each country, approximately
about 6 billion plastic bags were consumed.(William T. Fujioka,2008) According to
China Trade News, over 1 trillion plastic bags are used every year worldwide.
Production of plastic bags required the usage of petroleum and natural gas. Both of
them are non renewable resources that effect the reliance on foreign supplier
becomes increased. Thus, it can cause the destruction of fragile habitats and
ecosystem due to exploration and drilling activities. It consumed more resources
for the energy to produce and carry away the disposable bags. Other than that, it is
also creates global warming discharge. It has about 46,000 pieces of floating plastic
in every square of the ocean. (UN,2006) Besides, it will destroy waterways and soil
from entering the food chain when animals accidentally ingest because as a waste,
plastic bags
In The Trojan War
Our Trojan War is a unique theatrical production that uses scenes from ancient texts
written by Sophocles, Homer, Plato and Euripides, to discuss modern political
questions on democracy. The opening scene, In the First Version of the Story,
introduces the audience to a procession of U.S. soldiers who are dressed in
camouflage. Each soldier presents a different view of Odysseusat war. In their
differing points of view, Odysseus is sometimes seen as a hero while at other
times he is seen as a disgrace. The group of U.S. soldiers is sent on a mission to
search a home in the Middle East. The soldiers break into the house of a teacher and
find a collection of hidden books of the most renounced ancient texts. After the
teacher is criticized for
The Protestant Ethic by Max Weber
The connection between economic life, rational self organisation and salvation are
bought to life by Max Weber in the Protestant Ethic. This paper will showcase the
way in which these terms are related to one another and it will explore this
connection by drawing on what Weber refers to as the spirit of capitalism. Let us
begin by understanding the starting point of Weber s concerns for economic life.
It appears that Weber s interest is concerned with the development of modern life,
more particularly with the spirit of capitalism and the self organisation system (
Giddens, 1992:x). Weber is interested in certain conduct and behaviour that is
associated capitalism and economic lifestyles, this interest is what allows Weber to
explore the connection between economic life and Protestantism (Giddens, 1992:xi).
In order to fully understand the terms self organisation and salvation let us also
understand what Weber understood by the term the spirit of capitalism . Weber
describes this term as a peculiar ethic in which the aim is to seek an accumulation of
capital, not necessarily for material purposes but also for the sake of wealth itself
(Giddens, 1992:xi). It is considered as a calculated pursuit of continuous wealth
accumulation and profit, it is this pursuit that is considered the essence of the spirit
of capitalism. It should be noted that this accumulation not be confused with greed
but rather a rational pursuit of profit (Giddens, 1992:xxxi). What we must also note
Report Ld 50 of Cockroaches
Pharmacology Report 1: Determination of an insecticide in cockroaches
Introduction
Pesticides are toxic and go through many different testings and procedures before
they are put on the shelf in various industries. One general method that is used to
asses toxicity of pesticides before released for sale is the LD50 (Lethal Dose 50)
method. This method is conducted by calculating the most accurate dose of toxin
that will kill animals 50% of the time. Before determining an accurate LD50 of a
chemical however, a range finding analysis of the chemical will be performed in
order to calculate the most accurate LD50. Undergoing this procedure includes using
a wide spread range of concentrations which are mostly preformed at log dose
intervals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Table 1.2 shows one of the greatest errors possibly in this experiment. The average
weight lies at a range of 0.106g which speaking on the insect level is quite a
significant number here. The method of weighing out the cockroaches was
extremely inaccurate and in order to achieve an accurate LD50 an accurate weight
is required as stated earlier. Also not all cockroaches were exactly 2cm in length as
suggested by the method hence some cockroaches had a higher resistance to
propoxur due to greater weight and size which meant consistency was not at all
achieved.
Another reason why results may have varied from group to group could be due to
miscalculations and human error while performing dilutions. Dilutions is a very
important part of the experiment and if there was an error in one simple dilution then
it could have carried on from tube to tube having detrimental effects on the
concentrations of the solution being created.
Also application of the solution to the cockroaches was not an easy task, the
cockroaches were able to move around and escape from containment prosing an
extremely large problem because if the cockroach were to escape and become lost,
the entire average weight would have to be changed. Preventing this setback
happened to cause another dilemma, to slow down the cockroaches and comatose
them freezing was applied. However if the
A New Dimension Of M Government
E PURJEE IN RURAL AREAS: A NEW DIMENSION OF M GOVERNMENT
ABSTRACT
M government services are becoming crucial substitutes. It is a part of modern
ICT. But the thing is, ICT is not fenced only in the town areas. People of rural areas
are also using ICT even if having fewer ideas about the systems. The notable thing
is they can use it. The overview of my report isn t describing all the aspects of ICT.
In this report, my objective is to magnify the concepts and effects of digital
procurement (e purjee) system by sugarcane growers in rural Bangladesh. It is a SMS
based purchase order system replacing than that of a paper based. Analysis showed
that m governance (mobile governance) system in Agricultural Sector seemed more
complex than Educational Sector. The analysis identified that Agricultural Sector did
not fulfilled the nature of sustainability in m governance service in communication,
but showed elasticity. Identifying these situations, now the government and policy
makers are suggested to have proper plan, increase clearness, and inspire public
participation in every m governance service project. Based on these findings, I tried
to indicate some practical and theoretical recommendations about the framework for
rural technology based development projects.

Jesus Is The Teacher
Jesus Is The Teacher What Is He Teaching You Today? When we open the New
Testament, we find four books called gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. All
four present compelling accounts of the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus
of Nazareth, the long awaited Jewish Messiah (the Christ) and Son of God.
Mark is the shortest of the gospels, with 16 chapters. Matthew has 28 chapters; Luke
has 24 and John 21. The main reason Mark s gospel is shorter than the others is
because he devotes the least amount of space to the teachings of Jesus.
Because he spends less time recording the teachings of Christ, the book of Mark is a
fast moving, action packed description of Jesus 3 year ministry. But when you read
Mark, you would do well to take note of this while not focusing as much on the
content of Jesus teachings, he does emphasize the importance and frequency of Jesus
teachings.
To demonstrate Mark s emphasis on Jesus teaching ministry, let s take a tour through
the book of Mark.
Please take note: Jesus taught everywhere.
He taught in the synagogue. As a faithful Jew, Jesus would go the synagogue to
observe the Sabbath. And he would often be the speaker, or what we would call the
guest preacher . We see this in Capernaum, his ministry headquarters in Galilee when
the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach (Mark 1:21).
Likewise when he traveled to other cities, such as his hometown of Nazareth, When
the Sabbath came, he
Increasing Number of Female Athletes
Sport participation is a significant aspect of life for many female athletes beginning
at a young age. With increasing female sport participation, specifically in swimming,
understanding the possible implications of their chosen form of training is critical.
Over years of training, an athlete generally becomes more elite and focused in one
specific sporthowever the timing of when they choose to do so determines their
chosen training pattern. The two most common forms of training are high intensity
single sport participationand that of multiple sports with less time dedicated in one
particular activity. With the current research showing female swimmers to start
training at the age of 10 (Malina, 2010), well before typical maturity, evaluating the
long term impacts is necessary. While data sport participation prior to menarche is
not convincingly seen to impact growth and maturation (Malina, 2010), the impacts it
may have on injuries is yet to be seen. Injury patterns have also been previously
studied with female collegiate swimmers and the most common areas of injury are in
the shoulder/upper arm and the back/neck (Wolf, 2009). However, in this study,
intensity of training either currently or in the past was not also examined.
Combining all of these facets: sport specialization, age at menarche, and their
possible relationship to injuries has yet to be done. In this paper, first the current
research in these areas individually be discussed in order to provide a solid

Essay On Food. Best Food Essay Thatsnotus

  • 1. Essay On Food Writing an essay on the topic of food may seem deceptively simple at first glance, given the ubiquity of the subject in our daily lives. After all, we all eat, and food is an integral part of our cultures, traditions, and personal experiences. However, delving into the complexities of this seemingly straightforward topic reveals a myriad of challenges. To begin with, the vastness of the subject requires careful consideration. Food encompasses a broad spectrum, from the nutritional aspects to cultural significance, culinary traditions, historical evolution, and even the social and economic dimensions. Deciding on a specific angle or focus can be a daunting task, as each subtopic opens up a new realm of information and research. Moreover, striking a balance between personal reflections and objective analysis can be challenging. While personal anecdotes and experiences bring authenticity to the essay, it's crucial to back them up with well-researched facts and expert opinions. Finding this equilibrium requires skillful navigation to ensure the essay remains informative and engaging without becoming overly subjective or detached. The challenge intensifies when considering the diverse audience. Food preferences, cultural backgrounds, and dietary restrictions vary widely, making it essential to craft an essay that resonates with a broad readership. Ensuring inclusivity and avoiding stereotypes while celebrating the diversity of food experiences requires finesse in language and cultural sensitivity. Researching the historical aspects of food presents its own set of difficulties. Tracing the evolution of culinary practices and the cultural significance of various cuisines demands thorough investigation, often involving sifting through volumes of historical records, cookbooks, and scholarly articles. In the end, the difficulty lies not in the topic itself, but in the depth and breadth of exploration it invites. Crafting a compelling essay on food requires a delicate balance between personal reflections, objective analysis, cultural sensitivity, and extensive research. It is a task that demands both creativity and scholarly rigor, making it a rewarding but challenging endeavor. For those seeking assistance with essays or other academic writing tasks, various resources are available, such as HelpWriting.net, where similar essays and much more can be ordered to aid in the process of tackling complex topics. • 2. Deprivation Of Lethal Discourse Deprivation of accepted resources is perhaps one of the lethal lapses mankind has ever prepared in its voyage of progress and civilization. All the natural resources are contaminated with lethal lapses. Among them the land and water resources are worst affected and under continuous stress with both biotic and abiotic, due to anthropogenic interventions. If we talk about the soul of infinite life i.e., SOIL then it seems to appear the primary recipient by design or accident of a myriad of waste products and chemicals used in modern society. Soil contamination can be defined as the, addition of any substance to soil that may exert adverse effects on its functioning and capacity to yield a crop. Contamination of heavy metal is of special worry
  • 3. Why Do You Think Trophies Aren T For Everyone Essay Naibeth Ayungua Revision Assistant #1 Trophies aren t for Everyone (An analysis of, if trophies should be given to everyone ) Society has shifted in the way competition has worked, and will continue to change its beliefs in how we should treat competition in young people. Is it really necessary that every participant should receive a trophy? Or should only those that accomplished the goal, earn one? In today s youth activities, it has become an American tradition, to award all those that participate in the activity, whether they win or not. This is perhaps a decision that many have faced, but in reality it will teach the children about life. Because life isn t always fair, and there s nothing more atrocious than giving a child a trophy for everything they do. So now the question, Should kids get a trophy for participation? All in all, I oppose to the fact that kids should earn a trophy for participating. For example, take the coach of a soccer team, he should honor his team with treats after a well played season, but not trophies. Trophies are a sign of accomplishment, and if a child gave the coach a terrible attitude, then they shouldn t deserve one. It is as well as a little excessive. If you continue to give your child trophies for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main focus should be to learn how to play sports, how to listen to a coach and be part of a team. That in fact is very true. Sports are important, but one will not always have them in life. Being a loser isn t always necessary a bad thing. If you are given a trophy for everything you do, you will not learn how it feels to lose. Losing makes people want to improve in what they aren t successful in. This therefore is a motivator in what they want to be fortunate in and continue to strive in
  • 4. Comparing Women In Macbeth And The Woman In Black Women are presented in similar ways in The Woman in Black and Macbeth, both writers use their female characters to create contrasts and raise questions about women. Susan Hill s use of typical women of the time helps to contrast with the main female character, sets the scene for this novel and also helps to bring some normality to it. Susan Hill being able to create that image near the beginning of the novel of what a good mother looks like using the archetypal mothers makes the personality of Jennet Humfrye even more outrageously different. Furthermore, the Womanin Black s powerful, commanding and dangerous character juxtaposed with the subservient typical women such as Isobel, Esme and Stella and the emotional and affectionate Jennet Humfrye establishes the variances between the types of women Susan Hill explores.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both writers explore the struggle for power and the limitations of being a woman. The writers nevertheless, have some differences in the messages they are trying to convey, as Shakespeare experiments with the inclusion of masculinity in his female protagonist as Lady Macbeth is the dominant one in her relationship with Macbeth. Susan Hill also touches upon this as the Woman in Black could be interpreted as showing the effects of having unique characteristics for a woman of her time. Moreover, Susan Hill explores the family structure and whether the whole notion is obsolete. The roles of women in both texts are clear and relevant for their contexts, although some experimental individuality is
  • 5. Essay On Intimate Enemies Intimate Enemies, (L Ennemi intime), a French war film based on the Algerian war, presents a convincing portrayal of the psychological trauma of French soldiers fighting against Algerian insurgents. This movie reminded me of the barbarity of war and its detrimental effects on the people involved. The movie takes place in the remote and mountainous regions of Algeria in 1959 where the French army is fighting with the Fellagha (Algerian insurgents). The soldiers there are joined by Lieutenant Terrien who is a new, naГЇve and idealistic officer. Terrien quickly faces events that challenge his moral beliefs such as village massacres, prisoner tortures and shooting of civilians. Initially he resists the savagery of the other soldiers and officers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Terrien states that if an order is morally unacceptable, then you should refuse it sir. The captain counters that the FLN uses vile methods too, similar to how people were treated in Vietnam. He contends that the warfare in Vietnam and Algeria was less military but more psychological. Interestingly, Terrien responds by questioning the nature of Algeria with regards to France. If Algeria is France, then why are Algerians not treated equally as French citizens? The captain replies, You ll come around, just like we all did. The nature and system of the conflict was the issue, not the actual atrocities committed by both sides. Those wrongful attacks or methods were results of the main political differences of the French and Algerians. For me, I wonder if France truly tried to assimilate Algeria and give Algerians the same citizenship and rights as Frenchmen, would the FLN be this violent and adamant about independence? It was clear in this movie (and in Battle of Algiers) that the FLN initially was a minority in Algeria but due to French counterinsurgency, the majority decided to pick the lesser of two
  • 6. Globalization Of Mcdonaldization McDonalds is a fast food company that was founded in the 1940 s. In McDonalds short existence it has revolutionized not only the fast food industry, but the way in which business is conducted world wide. What the McDonald brothers and then Ray Kroc set out to accomplish was a business model that standardized all aspects of operation, in order to make expansion effortless. So great their power of growth that McDonalds now has over 31 thousand stores in over 118 countries. So iconic that the average US school child can recognize Ronald McDonald. Ritzer describes McDonaldization as ...the process by which the principles of the fast foodrestaurant are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as of the rest of the world (Ritzer, 1993:1). This penetration by the ideal of McDonaldization can be seen in our school system. School systems are moving towards producing graduates, as apposed to imparting knowledge. Currently in the US we have over 13,000 McDonalds, and according to Ritzer the US only contains half of the worlds McDonalds (Ritzer, 2013:287). These figures show that globally we are moving towards producing for consumers, standardized products. McDonald s has become a company that incorporated economics, psychology and sociology in its business plan to dominate the world of fast food. One in which many other enterprises try to emulate. American culture has gained from the advent of McDonaldization . We have gained access to a larger supply of goods at competitive cost. We have gained safety from increased standardization. However, the American culture has suffered negatives from McDonaldization . The process of Mcdonaldization extracts all that is unique about the different cultures of the world, and creates a homogenized world with the sole goal of creating a consumer society. In this paper what the world has lost through Mcdonaldization in contrast to what it has gained will be discussed. Also the dangers of creating a consumer society. Negatives to McDonaldization While eating at McDonalds it may feel as if we are surrounded with countless choices, but in fact through the process of McDonaldization many of these choices are made for us. • 7. Tyranny Dbq How the Constitution Prevents Tyranny Tyranny, a threat against America, is prevented through the concepts of the United States Constitution. The Constitution was written in Philadelphia, the year 1787. Before that there was the Articles of Confederation, the first document used for the United States government that gave too much power to the states; allowing tyranny to occur. It was also very weak due to having no chief executive and no court system. James Madison had the job of framing the Constitution in order to get rid of tyranny in the government. Framing, in this situation; is the job of creating the new constitution. Tyranny, explained by James Madison; is the accumulation of all powers... in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many. It comes in different forms, such as tyranny by a few. Tyranny by a few is when several generals or religious leaders seize control. Tyranny through Federalism, separation of powers, check and balances, and large states versus small states.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From James Madison, Federalist Paper #51, It states that Federalism is the division of power between central and state governments is known as Federalism. In document A there is a venn diagram that shows the powers that are only given to the states, like being able to establish schools. It also shows the powers that are unique to the central government, like the powers to print and coin money, plus being able to provide an army and navy. Lastly, they have shared powers like the power to tax. Federalism prevents tyranny by splitting central and state government s power keeping one or the other from getting more
  • 8. Lombroso s Biological Theory Of Crime Introduction: Italy is a country in Europe, well known and distinctly identified on maps by its shape of a boot that is flanked by the neighbouring countries of France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. As of May, 2016, the current population of Italy is approximately 60 million people. On the one hand, Italy is a country of grand culture, scenic landscapes, rugged mountains, and rich history and art. On the other hand, Italy is an important gateway and client of Latin American cocaine and Asian heroin entering the European market, money laundering by organized crime, and various smuggling operations. Italian mafia activity accounts for fourteen percent (14%) of Italy s GDP (gross domestic product), which is one of the primary indicators ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Italian School of Criminology was interested in why some persons engaged in criminal behaviour and other persons did not. The school s thinking was that some people had a biological inclination and tendency for crime. Lombroso believed that certain individuals with this biological trait could be identified by specific physical deformations and disfigurements: extended jaws, drooping eyes, large ears, flattened noses, longer arms and fingers, sloping shoulders, and a lower back that jutted outward. Lombroso had conducted his research for this theory in the Italian prison system, collecting detailed and specific physical measurements of prisoners and comparing the measurements with those of regular Italian citizens. Lombroso aimed to prove that criminals were atavists biological throwbacks from early human evolution, who engaged in criminal activity and violence because it was an instinctive trait. During a post mortem autopsy on a man named Giuseppe Villella, a notorious Calabrian thief and arsonist, Lombroso wrote, At the sight of that skull, I seemed to see all of a sudden, lighted up as a vast plain under a flaming sky, the problem of the nature of the criminal an atavistic being who reproduces in his person the ferocious instincts of primitive humanity and the inferior animals. Thus were explained anatomically the enormous jaws, high cheek bones, prominent superciliary arches, solitary lines in the palms, extreme size of the orbits, handle shaped or sessile ears found in criminals, savages and apes, insensibility to pain, extremely acute sight, tattooing, excessive idleness, love of orgies and the irresistible craving for evil for its own sake, the desire not only to extinguish life in the victim, but to mutilate the corpse, tear its flesh, and drink
  • 9. Thomas J. Stanley s The Millionaire Next Door Do you judge people based on looks, and appearance or on their actual lives? Most people like me, come to a conclusion right away, when you see a person, and judge them based on first appearance, and then you automatically have expectation from that person. But looks can be deceiving. One example that fits in this category is distinguishing between the rich and the actual people who have wealth. Thomas J. Stanley in his book called The Millionaire Next Door discusses in length how rich people act versus the show offs . The key to becoming rich starts with you how you are disciplined in your behavior towards spending, and knowing the difference between what you need and what you want , as well as making other smart financial decisions. Stanley really engages the reader to continue on reading, and finding out more about how to become successful, and detect false advertisement of rich people , which is why his book was and still so successful, and helped out a lot of people, including me. • 11. John Steinbeck s East of Eden Biblical Symbolism in East of Eden Throughout the novel East of Eden, Steinbeck uses many biblical references to illustrate clearly the conflict between the opposing forces of good and evil. Much of the plot of East of Eden is centered upon the two sets of brothers representing Cain and Abel. Both pairs are similar to Cain and Abel in the way they go about winning their fathers favors. All four give gifts to their fathers, and the fathers dismiss the gifts of Charles and Caleb, the Cain representations (Marks, Jay Lester. p.121). Caleb and Charles Trask are obviously the more malignant brothers. They are also the more loving towards their father. She is not only Eve, but she is Cain s wife and the serpent of Eden as well (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). Thus she is the representation of evil too. Cathy is evil to the point where she is not human. Her presence in the novel is meant to represent evil and all of its cruel intentions. All of her deeds are intended to show how far from the real world Cathy actually is (Howard, Levant. p. 245). Steinbeck compares Cathy to other prostitutes in Salinas Valley, the setting of Eastof Eden. She is described as the only whore who is incapable of being a good person. She is an inhuman being whose life revolves around cruelty and wrongdoing. She is solely satanic and destroys the innocence of man (Marks, Jay Lester. p. 126 127). John Steinbeck includes more of the tale of Genesis: 4 than is actually told in the bible. The basis of this is a Jewish story involving twin sisters of both Cain and Abel. The two disputed over Abel s twin whom Abel was to marry. Cain murdered Abel and wed the twin sister of his brother (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). The story differs also in that it is Abel who leaves his home instead of Cain. Abel found his Eden, represented by Salinas Valley, but lost it after fathering a second generation very similar to the first, Caleb representing Cain and Aron representing Abel (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3379). The story is changed by Steinbeck to illustrate

Over time Ulbricht would become more corrupt. Hedge Funds And Hedge Fund Hedge Funds are actively managed instruments with flexible mandates that allow fund managers to invest opportunistically in long and short positions across all asset classes. This type of investment vehicle has existed for over half a century. The first hedge fund was created by Alfred Winslow Jones in 1949. His strategy, while simple, had never been used in the asset management world. His idea was to buy stocks which seemed undervalued and short those which presented the worst outlook. In their paper, Hedge Funds with style , Brown and Goetzmann (2001) have described the most popular strategies used by hedge funds and furthermore they have tried explaining the impact of the different styles on performance. They looked at the performance of each strategy, from 1989 to 2000, and learned that the choice of style impacts returns circa 20 percent of the time. This would in turn have an effect on the risk return trade off, stressing how crucial the fund s style and management are. They have used statistical models (regressions and ANOVA tables) to analyze the variability between the performances of seventeen fund strategies. The results revealed that eight of those styles had high RВІ and adjusted RВІ, meaning that changes in the style explained most of

Throughout the novel, Nathan exhibits cruelty towards his family and the villagers. Cruelty is a direct antonym of Love. Looking back to the Bible, Paul states in a letter to the: And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love ( New International Version, 1 Corinthians 13:13). While Nathan may be spreading faith and hope, because of his cruelty, he is certainly not showing love, which according to scripture is the most important. Instead of loving his wife Orleanna, Nathan rebukes her many times for no reason and even acts out in physical cruelty by roughly batting Orleanna away as she tried to nurse his wounds. Nathan s actions are again hypocritical and go directly against the Bible says. Paul, in another letter, writes Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. (Ephesians 5:25). Ultimately Nathan is not able to convince any of the villagers to be baptized because he has not showed love and therefore not God to them. John, another apostle, states to a church that is struggling with false prophets: Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love (1 John 4:8). One may conclude from these verses that even though Nathan Price may have some knowledge of the Bible, he truly does not know God,

In their differing points of view, Odysseus is sometimes seen as a hero while at other times he is seen as a disgrace. The group of U.S. soldiers is sent on a mission to search a home in the Middle East. The soldiers break into the house of a teacher and find a collection of hidden books of the most renounced ancient texts. After the teacher is criticized for
  • 51. The Protestant Ethic by Max Weber The connection between economic life, rational self organisation and salvation are bought to life by Max Weber in the Protestant Ethic. This paper will showcase the way in which these terms are related to one another and it will explore this connection by drawing on what Weber refers to as the spirit of capitalism. Let us begin by understanding the starting point of Weber s concerns for economic life. It appears that Weber s interest is concerned with the development of modern life, more particularly with the spirit of capitalism and the self organisation system ( Giddens, 1992:x). Weber is interested in certain conduct and behaviour that is associated capitalism and economic lifestyles, this interest is what allows Weber to explore the connection between economic life and Protestantism (Giddens, 1992:xi). In order to fully understand the terms self organisation and salvation let us also understand what Weber understood by the term the spirit of capitalism . Weber describes this term as a peculiar ethic in which the aim is to seek an accumulation of capital, not necessarily for material purposes but also for the sake of wealth itself (Giddens, 1992:xi). It is considered as a calculated pursuit of continuous wealth accumulation and profit, it is this pursuit that is considered the essence of the spirit of capitalism. It should be noted that this accumulation not be confused with greed but rather a rational pursuit of profit (Giddens, 1992:xxxi). What we must also note

Report Ld 50 of Cockroaches Pharmacology Report 1: Determination of an insecticide in cockroaches Introduction Pesticides are toxic and go through many different testings and procedures before they are put on the shelf in various industries. One general method that is used to asses toxicity of pesticides before released for sale is the LD50 (Lethal Dose 50) method. This method is conducted by calculating the most accurate dose of toxin that will kill animals 50% of the time. Before determining an accurate LD50 of a chemical however, a range finding analysis of the chemical will be performed in order to calculate the most accurate LD50. Undergoing this procedure includes using a wide spread range of concentrations which are mostly preformed at log dose intervals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Table 1.2 shows one of the greatest errors possibly in this experiment. The average weight lies at a range of 0.106g which speaking on the insect level is quite a significant number here. The method of weighing out the cockroaches was extremely inaccurate and in order to achieve an accurate LD50 an accurate weight is required as stated earlier. Also not all cockroaches were exactly 2cm in length as suggested by the method hence some cockroaches had a higher resistance to propoxur due to greater weight and size which meant consistency was not at all achieved. Another reason why results may have varied from group to group could be due to miscalculations and human error while performing dilutions. Dilutions is a very important part of the experiment and if there was an error in one simple dilution then it could have carried on from tube to tube having detrimental effects on the concentrations of the solution being created. Also application of the solution to the cockroaches was not an easy task, the cockroaches were able to move around and escape from containment prosing an extremely large problem because if the cockroach were to escape and become lost, the entire average weight would have to be changed. Preventing this setback happened to cause another dilemma, to slow down the cockroaches and comatose them freezing was applied. However if the
  • 53. A New Dimension Of M Government E PURJEE IN RURAL AREAS: A NEW DIMENSION OF M GOVERNMENT ABSTRACT M government services are becoming crucial substitutes. It is a part of modern ICT. But the thing is, ICT is not fenced only in the town areas. People of rural areas are also using ICT even if having fewer ideas about the systems. The notable thing is they can use it. The overview of my report isn t describing all the aspects of ICT. In this report, my objective is to magnify the concepts and effects of digital procurement (e purjee) system by sugarcane growers in rural Bangladesh. It is a SMS based purchase order system replacing than that of a paper based. Analysis showed that m governance (mobile governance) system in Agricultural Sector seemed more complex than Educational Sector. The analysis identified that Agricultural Sector did not fulfilled the nature of sustainability in m governance service in communication, but showed elasticity. Identifying these situations, now the government and policy makers are suggested to have proper plan, increase clearness, and inspire public participation in every m governance service project. Based on these findings, I tried to indicate some practical and theoretical recommendations about the framework for rural technology based development projects. INTRODUCTION M government extends the reach of e government in public service delivery and includes the strategy and implementation of various types of wireless and mobile technology, applications, and

The Last Night Dialectical Journal Chapter One Unexpected Guests S tepping out of a long narrow and hand hewn log bunkhouse; part of a small campsite located deep within the forests of Northern Knox scurries a handsome young man. The young man frantically struggles as he pulls, tugs and buttons his camouflage shirt and khakis into some semblance of order and then begin to at first jog and then to swiftly run towards the camp s mess hall. He reaches inside himself searches for more speed and finds it as he flies past the blacksmith shed where a sorrel gray mare stands impatiently twitching as it gets new shoes. He picks up the pace even further and waves as he passes the blacksmith s hut and then he is gone kicking up dust as he dashes past the barn almost to the kitchen when... Out of the barn booms an authoritative voice, which demands! Stop right now! I need to speak with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The gypsy s...the gypsy s! They come... His announcement confirmed minutes later by a clatter and rattle as eight gaudily painted rolling cabins on wheels drawn by a large white draft horse, roll along forming a rough circle as come to a stop in a large clearing on the outskirts of camp. Seven of the wagons are identically painted in a brilliant red lacquer and with the edges and spoke wheels painted glossy black. The wagons built as small rounded cabins complete with front and back doors and each side of the wagon equipped with a small square window complete with a flower box filled with cooking spices. An eighth and much larger wagon leads the caravan. This wagon pulled by four solid white draft horses. This wagon, unlike the others, is ornately painted, the sides filled with hand drawn purple, blue, and pink gilded roses which are outlined in the finest gilded
  • 55. Jesus Is The Teacher Jesus Is The Teacher What Is He Teaching You Today? When we open the New Testament, we find four books called gospels Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. All four present compelling accounts of the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, the long awaited Jewish Messiah (the Christ) and Son of God. Mark is the shortest of the gospels, with 16 chapters. Matthew has 28 chapters; Luke has 24 and John 21. The main reason Mark s gospel is shorter than the others is because he devotes the least amount of space to the teachings of Jesus. Because he spends less time recording the teachings of Christ, the book of Mark is a fast moving, action packed description of Jesus 3 year ministry. But when you read Mark, you would do well to take note of this while not focusing as much on the content of Jesus teachings, he does emphasize the importance and frequency of Jesus teachings. To demonstrate Mark s emphasis on Jesus teaching ministry, let s take a tour through the book of Mark. Please take note: Jesus taught everywhere. He taught in the synagogue. As a faithful Jew, Jesus would go the synagogue to observe the Sabbath. And he would often be the speaker, or what we would call the guest preacher . We see this in Capernaum, his ministry headquarters in Galilee when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach (Mark 1:21). Likewise when he traveled to other cities, such as his hometown of Nazareth, When the Sabbath came, he

With increasing female sport participation, specifically in swimming, understanding the possible implications of their chosen form of training is critical. Over years of training, an athlete generally becomes more elite and focused in one specific sporthowever the timing of when they choose to do so determines their chosen training pattern. The two most common forms of training are high intensity single sport participationand that of multiple sports with less time dedicated in one particular activity. With the current research showing female swimmers to start training at the age of 10 (Malina, 2010), well before typical maturity, evaluating the long term impacts is necessary. While data sport participation prior to menarche is not convincingly seen to impact growth and maturation (Malina, 2010), the impacts it may have on injuries is yet to be seen. Injury patterns have also been previously studied with female collegiate swimmers and the most common areas of injury are in the shoulder/upper arm and the back/neck (Wolf, 2009). However, in this study, intensity of training either currently or in the past was not also examined. Combining all of these facets: sport specialization, age at menarche, and their possible relationship to injuries has yet to be done. In this paper, first the current research in these areas individually be discussed in order to provide a solid
