Aims and objectives
During the First and the Second World Wars Europe had to witness nationalist rivalries, which led the
continent to the catastrophe. For many, those wars meant the beginning of the end of the European
civilization. Others, a minority, drew from that the conclusion that the European capability to
overcome aggressive nationalism which caused those tragedies, is achievable by adopting the idea of
the united and peaceful continent as a common project.[6] That inspiration was to be insured by a
share of common, European distinctiveness. However, this process implies the necessity to consider
the impact of nationalism and the role of national states in a growing trend for a united Europe. As
Anthony D. Smith predicts:
The Europe of the future, if it should ever emerge, will be one of the mass identification and loyalty to
the European ideal, alongside or even in place of national allegiances and identities, such that large
numbers of the inhabitants of the European continent will not only consider themselves to be first and
foremost Europeans but will be prepared to make sacrifices for that ideal. [7]
We can assume that a common European identity should construct a parallel between the Union s
institutions and the citizens, making them feel that the economic and administrative regulations of the
Union are something that have to do with their rights and duties, with their identity. As the

Essay about The Life of Bob Marley
The Life of Bob Marley
While reading Catch a Fire I discovered many things about Bob Marley and his spiritual influence on
the world. Not only just making records, Marley spoke to his people through his songs and took
advantage of the opportunities given to him as a musician.
Born on February 6, 1945, Robert Nesta Marley grew up in a small village in Jamaica called Nine
Miles, where he would shape his personality and early beliefs. His father Norval Marley, a white
Jamaican and a Captain in the Army, would also become inspirational to young Bob. When Bob was
only 16 he produced his first record in Kingston, and in 1963 the original Wailers were formed, a
group consisting of Bob Marley, Bunny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He found Aston an accomplished bass player, Carlton to play the drums and he brought in a trio of
female back up vocalists called the I Threes, one of whom would eventually become his wife Rita.
In Jamaica at the time Bob was viewed as a mystic and prophet, and was becoming the symbol for a
nation. Seeking re election the Prime Minister asked Bob Marley to stage a free concert on the same
day as the National election, trying to lock up the support of the Marley followers and in turn the
election. This move however resulted in an attempt to end Marley s life.
On the evening of December 3, a number of gunmen arrived at Bob s house on 56 Hope Road and
shot Bob, his wife Rita, and his manager. The gunmen were thought to be the henchmen of the
opposition leader Edward Seaga. Luckily nobody was killed and Bob went ahead with the planned
concert rebelliously appearing with his arm in a sling. The following year during a massive European
concert Bob Marley was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in his big toe, the result of a neglected
football injury.
Later in Jamaica, Bob once again received a request from the political leaders to perform a peace
concert in his native land. Not phased by earlier tragedy he agreed and assembled one of the greatest
concerts ever, the One Love peace concert. Here was where he made history when leaders from the
two opposition parties were persuaded to

Cathedral Of Chartres Essay
The presence made by the Windows has not gone unnoticed and thanks to Abbot Suger for his love of
stained glass we can continue to rejoice in his vision. Suger noted in his own words, Thus, when out
of my delight in the beauty of the house of God the loveliness of the many colored gems has called me
away from external cares, and worthy meditation has induced me to reflect, transferring that which is
material to that which is immaterial, on the diversity of the sacred virtues: then it seems to me that I
see myself dwelling, as it were, in some strange region of the universe which neither exists entirely in
the slime of the earth nor entirely in the purity of Heaven; and that, by the grace of God, I can be
transported from this inferior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Cathedral of Chartres is located Southwest of Paris in Chartres, France. The Cathedral of Chartres
is considered one of the most exquisite representations of the French Gothic architectural style. This
Cathedral was constructed during 1194 through 1250, yet still contains many of its original artifacts
such as the stained glass art. The North facing Rose Window displays the Old Testament and is
dedicated to the Virgin. These images within the Rose represent Judah and the twelve Kings and the
12 Prophets. The Cathedrale Norte Dame de Chartres claims, Thus the Old Testament is portrayed as
the support of the New; the four Evangelists ride on the shoulders of the four Major Prophets:
Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel. The North Rose Windows patrons were members of the royal
house of Louis IX. The South Rose Window consists of the New Testament and is dedicated to Christ.
The Windows depict the Apocalypse, Evangelists and Prophets, while the Mary holds the Christ Child
in lancets below. By this point in Medieval Architecture stained glass has soured to new heights and
has taken over the nearly the entire inside of places of worship. The stained glass in many holy places
does not stop with a Rose Window, but simply begins

The Age Of Enlightenment By Voltaire
1. Do some research on Voltaire and his beliefs as well as the era in which he wrote, which was the
Age of Enlightenment. Be sure to cite your sources of information.
The Age of Enlightenment occurred from the 1620s until the 1780s. This movement began in England,
and steadily spread almost worldwide before long. The term Enlightenment was used to contrast the
Dark Ages, a time in which innovation and free thinking was at an all time low. Voltaire s French
philosophy included free thinking and the struggle for defense of civil liberties, in which he uses
almost every known literary form, including novels, poetry, and performance art such as plays. His
intellectual skepticism of traditional beliefs and dogmas denotes an illumined contrast to the supposed
dark and superstitious character of the Middle Ages.

2. Satire is a literary genre in which human vices, folly, and flaws are ridiculed or mocked, often with
the intention bringing about change. How do Voltaire use techniques such as irony, sarcasm, and
understatement for his satirical purposes? Give some examples from throughout the book.
Voltaire uses irony and satire in many different situations during the story. A prime example of these
literary forms can be found in the form of religion, for example when the Catholic Inquisitor speaks
against his own ideals and keeps a mistress, and a Franciscan friar who operates as a jewel thief, even

Biological Magnification
As seen in graph 1.1, group members observed that the number of toxins that were accumulated each
week were all in even numbers. Also, during weeks 0 4, the accumulation of toxins in each week seem
to be decreasing bit by bit, but then at week five the accumulation increased a bit (12, 10, 9, 7, 8).
Discussion
Looking back at the data and results collected, in five weeks the great blue heron will die. The group
has successfully modeled a simulation of what will happen to the great blue heron when biological
magnification occurs. Based on graph 1.1, at week five there are 46 toxins in the bird. This means that
at that time the great blue heron has accumulated more than 44 toxins, passing the lethal threshold of

The salt marsh is an ecosystem that has many different organisms and species dwelling upon the
surface. Of these organisms, they include sea lettuce, the Sheepshead Minnow, Fluke and the Great
Blue Heron. These organisms interact with each other in the ecosystem. The sea lettuce is a producer,
which gets eaten by the consumer, the minnows. Then, minnow is eaten by a secondary consumer, a
fluke. Lastly, the Great blue Heron, as a top predator and tertiary consumer, eats the fluke. Through
this process, toxins are transferred from trophic level to trophic level. An example of this is the BP oil
spill, which released a large amount of toxins to the ocean, and animals can take in the toxins, causing
large amounts of deaths. Each organism has a lethal threshold, or the amount of toxins an organism
can have before death. The Great Blue Heron in this case has a lethal threshold of 44 toxins
(EduChange, 2004). A lab has been done to model the biological magnification of toxins in an
ecosystem with the Great Blue Heron. If a Great Blue Heron eats for five weeks, then the animal will
die because the lethal threshold of 44 toxins has been passed and the toxins cannot be

Advertising Effects Of The Counter And Prescription Drug...
Advertising Effects of Over the Counter and Prescription drug on Consumer Purchasing Habits
By Celise Blackman
Mass Communications Research
Professor Roman
Introduction
This study looks at how prescription drugs (Rx) and over the counter drugs (OTC) are advertised and
how that potentially effects buying habits of consumers. There have been studies on this in the past but
researchers failed to consider important factors such as age, exposure to advertising, health conditions
of their audience. Results of this study could allow advertisers to consider our findings when
producing advertisements. Consumers who see this study may also choose to do their own research on
the Rx or OTC they consider purchasing. Also, medical professionals that have the authority to write
Rx for their patients would be better informed of how the advertisements are perceived, causing them
to present these drugs more or less. Now, this could negatively affect the pharmaceutical drug industry
financially if doctors stop using their advertisements. However, that is not our goal in this study, just
mearly a side effect.
Literary Review
Studies have shown that advertisements for prescription drugs (Rx) and over the counter drugs (OTC)
can be perceived differently depending on the audience. Furthermore, according to Alperstein (2014),
in relation to Rx drugs,
Pharmaceutical marketers historically avoided advertising directly to young adults, and by agreement
to teens, perhaps

Non Zoonotic Disease
In addition to performing duties as a veterinarian, I also reviewed biosecurity and cleaning procedures
performed by the staff. It was in these activities I witnessed how calicivirus (non zoonotic) and
ringworm (zoonotic) were being spread among the animals due to staff s lack of biosecurity measures.
While calicivirus is not a zoonotic disease, it is a highly transmissible disease among cats, especially
when proper protocols to prevent spread are not observed. Animals identified with calicivirus have
cage cards and signs on their cages alerting the staff to their condition. These cage cards indicate the
order in which these cages should be cleaned and animals medicated based on severity of symptoms.

I identified rabies and ringoworm as the most common zoonotic issues at APL. Other considerations
for zoonotic disease in shelter medicine are: toxoplasmosis, toxocariosis, pasteurellosis, and
bartonellosis. In response to educating the public on these diseases and how they were transmitted, I
developed a flyer to display at the shelter as well as provide as a handout to all adopters. I developed
separate flyers for each disease determined with zoonotic potential that was most common in this
shelter (ringworm) and most well known (rabies). Copies of the products developed are attached to the
end of this report (Appendix 2 3). In the future, if received well, then additional flyers could be
created for other zoonotic diseases. While doing research at the shelter, it became evident staff
members did not know what a zoonotic disease meant. I informally discussed zoonotic disease with
three staff members that represent the areas of the shelter with the most public interactions (cat nook,
kennels, and front office) and asked them the same three questions: 1. What does a zoonotic disease
mean? 2. Does the shelter have any zoonotic diseases currently? 3. Can you name one zoonotic
disease? The answers were as follows:
1. A disease that is fatal A disease people can get from animals A disease that animals spread to each

Millions Danny Hales Essay
In the film, Millions, directed by Danny Boyle, a compelling character who intrigues me is the
antagonistic Anthony Cunningham. I find his complex character interesting as he is still grieving for
his mother s tragic death whilst managing to use her death to his advantage. Also, his way of thinking
and dealing with the money is very different to from many other kids his age would do. His way of
thinking has a powerful awareness of right from wrong but throughout the movie he gets it jumbled up
a bit...
The film is set during the changing of all European currencies to a single currency the Euro. Due to
this, we can see that money is going to take a significant role in the film. Anthony (along with his
family) are dealing with the repercussion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anthony is still struggling within the stages of grief and is trying hard to mask it. The director shows
this in the opening scene, the two boys delightedly lay down next to each other after riding their bikes.
As the two brothers lay down next to each other, we can see that Damian is wearing a blue shirt which
can often be interpreted as sorrow or calmness. While Anthony is wearing a red jacket which is
normally deciphered as hatred or anger. However under Anthony s red jacket, we can see that he is
also wearing a blue shirt. The director s purpose of doing this is to foreshadow that Anthony is using
ignorance to mask his misery and woe. The director shows us that Anthony disguises his sadness with
annoyance towards the end of the movie when Damian brings Dorothy into their house. This is shown
because we can see Anthony thinking that she is there to replace their mother. Due to this, we see him
whispering a angry hushed tone Is that what you want? Her in there with him, instead of Mum? .
Personally, this is quite understandable because I know that it is extremely difficult to be going
through the stages of grief after someone who is close to you s death. This could link back to my first
paragraph Anthony wants to keep a close relationship with Damian by trying to set a good example by
moving on. Anthony struggling through the hardships may also be why he is pulled in by tempting

The book After, written by Amy Efaw, is an addictive, action packed book. The fiction story is about a
girl named Devon Sky Davenport who was pregnant, but in denial. She wakes up one morning, sick,
and stays home from school that day. That night, she gives birth at home by herself, and throws the
baby in the trash after putting it in a garbage bag. Devon goes to jail where she makes friends and has
to cooperate with her lawyer. Devon can t remember anything from the night when she gave birth but

thoughts. Devon must tell her lawyer the details, although it is hard, so she can be tried in a juvenile
court and only get 5 years, but if she doesn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author uses a great deal of detail when describing characters. For example, the author wrote,
Yellow...yellow. The color of Devon s mom s hair. The color of a sun breaking through the flat gray
clouds. Of a lemon drop. Devon allows her eyes to droop closed for a moment. I can distinctly
imagine the appearance of the characters because the author uses the detail that he does. The plot of
this book moves quickly because she starts to remember things from That Night from flashbacks that
happen often. The text reads, She steps slightly closer to him, lets her shoulder brush his arm as they
walk hand in hand. Lets her hip bump into his. Once. Then. Twice.... The author uses plenty of
imagery when describing places and people. For example, the author wrote, Devon s eyes skim over
the room s three rectangular tables and finds that vacant seat indicated. It s beside the pale girl with
the breads. The girl scoots her chair back to make room for Devon, presenting the seat with an open
hand, her crooked smile creeping back over her face. The author s tone in this book is stressful, and
outraged. An example from the story includes, No! Get out of here! Devon s mom lunges at the man,
grabbing his shoulders from behind, her long nails digging into his jacket. Get the hell out of here! Are
you hearing me? The other man, the one in the uniform, appears suddenly, pulling Devon s mom off
of the first man. The theme of this story is displacement. Devon is a girl who gets good grades, is
involved in sports, and gets her work done on time. She is not someone you would expect to be in jail,
and she is so much different from her peers in jail. I can apply this lesson in my life because if I am
ever in a place where I feel uncomfortable and out of place, I know that it will end soon. This lesson
will make a change in my future

Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory
People of the court, here we have Mr. Roy Billy Dawson Jr., formally known as R.J. He is here today
because of an unexpected murder that occurred the morning of May 23rd between the hours of three
and four. Let me remind you that R.J. was not the only one found at the crime scene when the police
arrived. His older sister, Kayla Dawson, and his mother, Ruth Turner, were also present, standing over
a lifeless body and a pool of blood belonging to Mr. Gerald Lee Turner. We could quickly put an end
to this case by sentencing my client, R.J., life in prison, but as a victim also, R.J. does not deserve
such punishment. For 17 years, Mr. R.J. did a lot of observing. Every observation and experience
helped with his choices of actions. Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory will explain how R.J. s
behavior was caused by his past.
Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory explains that people develops a skill or habit based on what
they observed during social interactions, experiences, and outside media influences (Santrock, 2011).
Bandura uses a model to explain the factors and how they connect between the environment, person,
and behavior. When discussing the person using this model, I also use his sister, Kayla, as an example
of the person being influenced. The first two reciprocal factors are how the environment influences the
person and how the person influences the environment. R.J. grew up in a whole household, but it was
not the typical American family. Roy Dawson Sr. and,

Tennyson s Themes In The Story Of The Lady Of Shalott
How does Tennyson use the story of the Lady of Shalott to reflect on the situation of the artist in
modern times? Lord Tennyson perfectly describes the situation of the artist, in the sense that an artist
should find himself in solitude, perfect silence and isolation. This seems to be the perfect environment
for a poet, as if the whole world disappears and he is alone with his thoughts. But we can also admit
that it is not the poet s volition to be isolated in order to create and to be imaginative. The poet tries to
gather all of his thoughts, sentiments and passions and the result is a piece of art. It is widely known
that artists prefer to live all by themselves and their imagination is augmented because they prefer to

easy to be achieved. In the final stanza, Lancelot admires her only for her beauty, without knowing

African American Identity
Iman Zahra
What, according to these writers of the Harlem Renaissance, are the sources of African American
identity?
The Discovery of African American Identity
In the 1900s African American have slowly started to gain their rights after the end of slavery. It was a
difficult and tedious process; however, they never gave up on what they believed in, which is racial
equality . African American stood together in organizations, marches, and unions because they had
something that united them which wasn t just skin color; it was inequality and slavery. African
Americans came together to celebrate the New Negro . They created an identity for themselves
through history and culture, and it spread nationwide with the creation of the Harlem Renaissance .
Harlem became the center of African American culture and the grassroots of African American history,
or as Alain Locke has called it: Harlem: Mecca of the New Negro.
According to Afro Americans in New York Life and History, The development of the Harlem
Renaissance was a result of two factors: First of all, the immigration that started during the war which
gave African Americans the motivation to become more confident of who they are, and more
responsible for their race and rights. They became defiant, bitter, and impatient. They would not take
silence and inequality as an answer. They expressed themselves through the Harlem Renaissance. The
second reason is the riots that followed World War I . African Americans fighted

Competitiveness In America
Over the period of study, the relative strength in the Peripheral South diminished as the Republican
Party became more competitive in the Deep South. Over time, one should see both the national and
state indexes increase with the state party index lagging behind the national party index. While this is
far from definitive, it supports the findings of some scholars who say that the increase in Republican
Party competitiveness started at the national level and went to affect the competitiveness of elections
to lower level political offices. A major reason that the state score index lags behind the national index
is that the state index includes state legislative offices (and not votes as we have for the other offices
included in the MPI) which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is why I included the percentage of congressional turnout in the model. One should know from
previous research, that increases in voter turnout in the South was not confined to African Americans.
Several scholars saw an increase in white voter turnout from the early 1950s to the 1970s of about 70
percent. Voting was no longer for the populations better people, but instead became more universal.
Looking at figures 3.3 and 3.4, it is evident that there is an upward trend in the data, but that the
increase is much larger in the Deep South than in the Peripheral South. The midterm effects is present
in the data with the reduced turnout in the midterm

Anorexia Not just a Womens Disease Essay
Anorexia Not just a womens disease Anorexia: Not Just A Women s Disease Oh I m so fat . This is not
something we normally think of hearing out of a man s mouth. Women are thought to be the only ones
that obsess over their appearance. Therefore, anorexia is commonly thought to be a woman s disease.
But in reality, there are many men fighting it. Out of the estimated eight million people in the United
States with anorexia, about ten percent of the cases are men (Something Fishy, par.1). These are only
reported cases. It is assumed that there is more, but the men haven t come forward, since it is very
hard for a man to admit to having this disease. Nevertheless, there are a growing number of men in

In fact, one third of high school wrestlers starve themselves to make weight (WebMd Health par. 14).
High school wrestling coaches encourage less eating, and low water intake, so that the wrestlers can
get into a lower weight class. And unlike with most sports, where the athletes stop their behavior after
the sports season is over, wrestlers tend to continue there behavior all year round. An average wrestler
s body fat is three percent lower than a normal high school student s(WebMD Health par. 14). For
example, my brother has been in wrestling for nine years now. Although he s not anorexic, he has
done some crazy, and very unhealthy things for wrestling. His coach makes the wrestlers spit all the
time. I ve witnessed this at school. I could always tell who the wrestlers were, because they would be
walking down the hall and all of a sudden spit into the garbage can. This was one of their many ways
to dehydrate themselves to loose weight. The wrestlers rarely ate anything at lunch when I was in
school, and if they did, it was hardly anything. I often noticed my brother wouldn t eat dinner with us
at home, and I got really worried. When I would nag him about eating, his response was always the
same, I have to make weight . This making weight as they called it, involves losing enough weight so
they can wrestle in a lower weight class, and

The Brandon Teena Story Sociology
The film The Brandon Teena Story followed the story of Teena Brandon s, who went by the name
Brandon, death in Nebraska. Brandon lived in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a male, despite him being born as
a female, at the start of the film. The audience was informed that Brandon had been behaving, acting,
and living as a male for years. Brandon s mother, Joann Brandon, had previously sent Brandon to
counseling to treat his attempts and ideas about suicide, and presumably his gender dysphoria.
However, after returning from counseling, Brandon s want of being of man was only solidified. In the
middle of November 1993, Brandon moved to Falls City Nebraska. It was in Falls City, Nebraska
where Brandon met and befriended ex convicts Tom Nissen and ... Show more content on

A gender ideology is a set of ideas widely shared by members of a society that guides identities,
behaviors, and institutions (Wade, et. al. 2015). Until Brandon s sex was discovered, almost everyone
that he interacted with daily believed that he was a male from birth. Nobody really questioned
Brandon s gender or sex because they believed that he exemplified the typical idea of a man. In the
film, Brandon s friends and ex girlfriends all described him as a male based mostly on Brandon s
gender expression, looks, and hobbies. The people in the film all described how Brandon would wear
clothes for men, sit with his legs open, and talk about girls and cars. Even Nissen s sister described
how one time her, Brandon, and others, were in a van and Brandon had to go to the bathroom and tried
to pee out of a window. All of these factors made up the people who Brandon interacted with schemas
about gender. Nobody ever thought about Brandon maybe being a female because their cultural lens, a
male does everything Brandon does, so he is a male. This concept also shows up later in the film when
Brandon was questioned by a woman about whether he was truly a male. The deciding factor for this
woman on whether Brandon was a man or not, was determined by if he had a penis. This woman s
idea of a traditional man involved a penis; so if Brandon did not have one Brandon could not have
been a man. However, the woman, because of her pre existing conceptions, she did not think that
maybe one does not need a penis to be a male. For example, disregarding transsexuals and
transgendered people, a male could have been castrated, effectively removing his penis. However, just
because his penis is gone, he is usually still seen as a male. Castration of males was done throughout
history whether it was Chinese or Roman Slaves (Tougher 2013), or as a dedication to one s religion

Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka Change Essay
Change is something that can t be avoided. It is a basic quality of life and in the book The
Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka change is essential. This theme is a crucial part of this story. It is one
that influences the plot and the behavior of the characters in the story.
The first change we see, the one that I think is obviously the most important because it is the reason all
the other events in the story happen, is when Gregor goes from being a human to being a gigantic bug.
After this all of his thoughts and feelings began to change too. The awareness he has over becoming
this bug evokes him. Everything that was once familiar to him, all of the objects that are on his room
when he wakes up, become altered and unfamiliar in his bug like state. After waking up, the ... Show

All of Gregor s family has different experiences when he chances into a bug. Because of the change he
is unable to work. This puts a burden on his family, they all end up having to find jobs. His mother
finds a job sewing lingerie for a clothing store. His sister finds a job as a salesperson, she also begins
to learn French in order to be able to move into a higher position. And his father finds a job as a
messenger. The family also had to decide on renting out rooms of their house to add to the income. He
overhears a family discussion revolving around a financial issue they had I countered which leaves
him feeling guilty. Because Gregor has now turned into a bug, the family loses the harmony that most
families have. The family members now stay away from him. They stop interacting with each him, not
even looking at him in some cases. They also don t want to be alone with him, making sure that at
least two other people are with him. Any maid that they had or hired begged for them to be dismissed

Swot Analysis Of Lenovo
Task C Trademarks
Trademarks protect the distinctive symbols, words, logos, and phrases used by a firm to distinguish
their products and services from other firms . It is connected to marketing rather than the functionality
of products.
One trademark used by Lenovo is the LenovoTM. This is used as the official name for the corporation
and acts as a way to join together all of the company s projects. The origin of the name is a
portmanteau between the corporation s holding company, Legend and novo , which means new in
Latin. This works in the firm s favour, as new is something that is coveted by consumers. The logo is
without a capitalised L . This could be problematic for the firm, as first time experiencers of the brand

This trademark is owned by Lenovo s subsidiary Motorola. Motorola s personal technology
department was sold to Lenovo in 2014 as described by (news.lenovo.com,2017)15, having become
far less profitable than it previously was in the early 2000s as set out by (MarketRealist.com,2017)14.
This trademark is for the flagship phone that Lenovo will release in 2017. Its name is considered
important because the Moto phones range was owned by Motorola and was one of the most popular
phones on the market in the early 2000s. Motorola was subsequently shunned by consumers, in favour
of brands such as Apple and Samsung. So Lenovo will try to rekindle the goodwill that the Motorola
brand had from the 00s. The word moto itself was used in both the advertising by Motorola in its early
advertising and in their naming of phones. To ensure that people will recognise the connection
between Motorola and Lenovo, there has been a decision to initially call the new product the Motorola
Moto ZTM, and in time change the branding to the Lenovo Moto ZTM.
The final trademark is the main slogan that Lenovo use. The slogan is For Those Who DoTM . This
firmly tries to target creators and professionals to engage with Lenovo s products. The slogan is quite
inclusive too, as it describes a quality which others will aspire to be. For those people, the slogan
represents a call to them that if they buy Lenovo products, they could be someone

Ambition and the Downfall of Macbeth, Idi Amin, and,...
Ambition is a force that helps drive societies forward. When the power of a nation falls in the hands of
a single person ambition takes many spectacular and ugly forms. It can be both the making and
destruction of that person but regardless of the net effect, ambition will have deep socio economic,
political, and cultural roots. Three dictators were taken by ambition and it pushed them into a costly,
long, battle to obtain and maintain power. Those leaders are Macbeth, Idi Amin, and, Napoleon
Bonaparte. Macbeth is the main character in Shakespeare s Macbeth. Macbeth was born into low
ranking nobility and rose to fame as a general. He did so well in the military that he became the Thane

Atp Lab Report

#1 MAKE OBSERVATIONS
Even in middle school biology I learned that the body produced ATP and used it for energy, and I
never thought about what the abbreviation meant. When I learned that ATP was adenosine
triphosphate, which is composed of a modified form of adenine and phosphates, it made me wonder
why there is not chemical energy using the other bases.
#2 ASK QUESTIONS
Why is ATP the most common form of chemical energy rather than CTP, TTP, or GTP?
#3 HYPOTHESIS
Because adenine is a purine and utilizes 2 hydrogen bonds when it is in DNA, it fits better with the
ribose and phosphates.
The body produces an excess of adenine so it is the best choice for a nitrogenous base.
When mRNA is travelling to the ribosome to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
dATP has no purpose other than in DNA replication.
ATP is the most popular source because adenosine has many uses.
ATP is used in kinases, as a source of energy, and can combine with niacin to form NAD.
Guanosine is similar to adenosine, but is rarely used to give up phosphates. The only exception is in
tubulin, which helps with construction of cytoskeletons.
Guanosine is mainly used in G proteins, which help relay hormonal and chemical signals.
Other guanosine molecules mainly help control intercellular traffic and relay signals.
Uridine is mainly used in glycogen synthesis. UTP will bind to a glucose and form a UDP glucose and
a free phosphate, making the glucose more reactive.
UDP is used to help break down the other monosaccharides as well.
CTP is similar to UTP except that instead of helping break down sugar CTP helps to break down fats.
CDP diacylglycerol and CDP choline are all found in plasma membranes.
ATP is ideal because it is a purine and purine rings give them a wider range of uses.

Nt1310 Unit 1 Network Analysis
Written Assignment Unit 1
In general, on the internet, every packet follows 5 layers of structures (Application, Transport,
Network, Data Link, and Physical). Since I have to talk about Connection Oriented and
Connectionless as a service, I will focus on the Transport layer because they are part of this layer. It
allows multiple applications to use one network connection simultaneously, the layer will create ports
on your computer allowing them to be reserved and used by the Application layer. Let s say that port
3600 will be used to send a message to port 80 of some other computer, whenever the port is ready to
send a message, it passed on to Transport layer. In this layer, it wraps the message inside the Segment

Also, UDP is connectionless which means that there is no need for creating a connection first before
sending out data and have more control over when data is sent out. Because data corruption is a
common occurrence on the internet, UDP has a primitive form of error detection but it is not that
reliable because it doesn t recover the error it just will be discarded. Even if the network is busy, UDP
will try to cram packets in the network and this is a bad strategy because it will cause more collisions.
Here where TCP comes, for having certain features that make the connection more reliable. However,
it also has a bigger communication over than UDP. TCP s connection is based on negotiating first
before doing anything, this known as the three way handshake. If any error is detected, TCP offers
retransmission when a receiver doesn t get a delivery a package. So, it will send it again guaranteeing
your data to reach its destination in time and without duplication. Since all the work is done by the
operating system, It automatically breaks up data into packets for you. So you just need to sit back and
watch the show. Even the debugging is taken care of by your OS and if there are bugs in your OS, then
you will face many problems like problems in surfing and downloading contents from the net. I do
prefer the TCP service because it does all the work for you

Female Circumcision Essay
Female Genital Circumcision Female genital circumcision (FGC) is a cultural ritual that is performed
to the vast majority of women within the countries of Sudan, Kenya, Mali, Benin, Togo, and parts of
the Middle East. Female genital circumcision also termed as female genital mutilation is used based
upon a person s beliefs. This ritual has been highly controversial for many years especially in the
western society, due to the health risks that women may have to go through. Doctor Gruenbaum, and
anthropologist who studied FGC in Sudan, has researched this topic and believes that outsiders need
to have an open mind about diverse cultures. I believe that this procedure should not be illegal;
however, education about the risks of the procedure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The practice of female genital circumcision is also shown in other cultures in different parts of the
world. It is highly concentrated in North of Africa; however, it has existed also in Middle Eastern
countries and some parts of Asia. Some of the Middle Eastern countries that practice FGC are Yemen,
Oman, Iraqi Kurdistan, amongst some Bedouin women in Israel, and was also practiced by the
Ethiopian Jews. It is unclear whether they continue with the practice now that they are settled in Israel.
FGC is also practiced among Bohra Muslim populations in parts of India and Pakistan, and amongst
Muslim populations in Malaysia and Indonesia (FORWARD). There are different types are Female
Genital Circumcision; mostly it is put in one category by an outsider. Dr. Greunbaum in her book, The
Female Circumcision Controversy: An Anthropological Perspective, states that FGC cannot be
generalized but it can be differentiated and grouped. Every cultural group performs this sacred ritual in
a different way. Historically, FGC is believed to have originated from Ethiopia or Egypt, FGC was
practiced by Ethiopians, Phoenicians, Hittites (Taba, 1979) and may have spread to other parts of
Africa. WHO has categorized FGC in four different categories: Type one is known as clitoridectomy,

The 3d Seismic Survey Of East Godavari Mangrove Area
The 3D seismic survey in East Godavari mangrove area has short term effects on the environment.
The surveyed area includes the main six reserved mangrove patches in East coast of India and the
process of lying of geophones cables and shoot hole drilling for 3D seismic exploration may lead to
the destruction of habitat through clearing the vegetation. Primary sources of disturbances associated
with exploration include equipment transportation inside the mangrove, vehicle traffic, shot hole
drilling activities, and underground blasting. Seismic exploration survey has the potential to affect
wildlife either by increasing noise and human activity around them, or seismic shooting process. The
seismic activities can even lead to long term habitat alteration. Though the exploration activities is
often a short term process, extending over a few months, the footprint of exploration activities
especially in the high wildlife sensitive area can be quite large (Jorgenson et al. 2010). Seismic
exploration can alter plant community structure, directly affecting fauna of that area on a long term
basis (Jorgenson et al. 2010). There is evidence to suggest wildlife may react to seismic activity with
elevated metabolic rates (Bradshaw et al. 1998), and the cumulative effects of repeated disturbance of
individuals may affect population reproductive rates if exploration is widespread (Bradshaw et al.
1998).
Extensive studies are conduced to estimate the impact of seismic activities on marine

Disadvantages Of Securitization
As securitization seems to be a lucrative way for banks to not only enhance liquidity and diversify risk
but also improves their performance considerable incentive problems occurred during the turmoil and
among the different parties. Those incentive problems led to information asymmetries and moral
hazard among the involved stakeholders .As the Bank/Originator creates reference pool sells them to
the bankruptcy remote trust (such as Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac) Bankruptcy remote trust buys
reference pool and securitizes it sells them to the capital market where potential investors exists to
purchase securities purchase of securities by investors 6 gap between mortgage originators and
investors increases, it reduces the incentives for lenders to screen mortgage applicants thoroughly.
During the turmoil banks had more and better information about the Mortgage Backed Securities and
their performance value in contrast to third parties as they knew more about the mortgage applicant
and the underlying mortgage loan .As bank incentives are to issue more mortgage loans and then sell
them to bankruptcy remote trusts to securitize them, they did not bear the risk of the mortgage default

Therefore, the process of transfer of the receivables from the originator to the SPV involves an outlay
on account of stamp duty, which can make securitization commercially unviable in several states. If
the securitized instrument were issued as evidencing indebtedness, it would be in the form of a
debenture or bond subject to stamp duty. On the other hand, if the instrument is structured as a Pass

would not attract stamp duty, as it is not an instrument provided for specifically in the charging

Dogs Rule, Cats Drool
Dogs are happy to see you no matter what kind of mood you re in. Everyday when I come home from
school my dog, Nemo, is there to greet me at the door by jumping on me and licking my face. I could
ve had an amazing, miserable, tired, or content day and the jumping still continues. Canines are loyal
friends and the relationship between dogs and humans goes way back. Dogs are better than cats
because they assist humans and show more affection.
Dogs have been domesticated for as long as 135,000 years which makes cats seem fairly new to the
household. Both dogs and cats were originally used for reasons that benefited human work. Now a
days, dogs are far more useful with job skills. When I was little, I used to live outside. Not literally,
but just in the sense that I was an outdoors kind of child. I enjoyed helping my dad with household
projects and was ecstatic when I found out he would build a tree house for me. While he built the
major part of it with dangerous equipment, I put myself in charge of collecting sticks to try and help
my father put it together. Sooner or later, Nemo, my dog, was running back and forth with sticks in his
mouth helping me collect what I needed.
Canines have the ability to serve as seeing eye dogs, firedogs, service dogs or just a playful, loyal
companion. The closer the dog and human s relationship is, the stronger the feelings between them
are. Canines have a talent of recognizing dangerous situation and being there for humans in their time

Muscular Dystrophy Challenges
All people have come across challenges, some challenges can be conquered and some of them cannot.
My challenge was given to me when I was born and that challenge is a disability called muscular
dystrophy. Muscular dystrophy is a group of genetic diseases that cause continuous weakness of the
muscles, so in other words I lose strength as time flies by. I started to notice weakness in my early
childhood, when I was ten years old. An example of me noticing my disability starting to kick in was
when I was running for physical education, and I felt like I was connected to a parachute. As the years
went by things that took physical strength started to get harder. For example, running, walking, lifting
objects, and getting up off of chairs. I was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy when I was about
thirteen years old. This disability is a challenge for me because it gets in the way of me doing many
things that other people with the strength can do. This challenge has prevented me from doing many
types of movements. Since I do not have the average strength I need help doing a lot of doing certain
types of movements. An ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aims and objectives During the First and the Second World Wars Europe had to witness nationalist rivalries, which led the continent to the catastrophe. For many, those wars meant the beginning of the end of the European civilization. Others, a minority, drew from that the conclusion that the European capability to overcome aggressive nationalism which caused those tragedies, is achievable by adopting the idea of the united and peaceful continent as a common project.[6] That inspiration was to be insured by a share of common, European distinctiveness. However, this process implies the necessity to consider the impact of nationalism and the role of national states in a growing trend for a united Europe. As Anthony D. Smith predicts: The Europe of the future, if it should ever emerge, will be one of the mass identification and loyalty to the European ideal, alongside or even in place of national allegiances and identities, such that large numbers of the inhabitants of the European continent will not only consider themselves to be first and foremost Europeans but will be prepared to make sacrifices for that ideal. [7] We can assume that a common European identity should construct a parallel between the Union s institutions and the citizens, making them feel that the economic and administrative regulations of the Union are something that have to do with their rights and duties, with their identity. • 3. Essay about The Life of Bob Marley The Life of Bob Marley While reading Catch a Fire I discovered many things about Bob Marley and his spiritual influence on the world. Not only just making records, Marley spoke to his people through his songs and took advantage of the opportunities given to him as a musician. Born on February 6, 1945, Robert Nesta Marley grew up in a small village in Jamaica called Nine Miles, where he would shape his personality and early beliefs. His father Norval Marley, a white Jamaican and a Captain in the Army, would also become inspirational to young Bob. When Bob was only 16 he produced his first record in Kingston, and in 1963 the original Wailers were formed, a group consisting of Bob Marley, Bunny ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He found Aston an accomplished bass player, Carlton to play the drums and he brought in a trio of female back up vocalists called the I Threes, one of whom would eventually become his wife Rita. In Jamaica at the time Bob was viewed as a mystic and prophet, and was becoming the symbol for a nation. Seeking re election the Prime Minister asked Bob Marley to stage a free concert on the same day as the National election, trying to lock up the support of the Marley followers and in turn the election. This move however resulted in an attempt to end Marley s life. On the evening of December 3, a number of gunmen arrived at Bob s house on 56 Hope Road and shot Bob, his wife Rita, and his manager. The gunmen were thought to be the henchmen of the opposition leader Edward Seaga. Luckily nobody was killed and Bob went ahead with the planned concert rebelliously appearing with his arm in a sling. The following year during a massive European concert Bob Marley was diagnosed with melanoma cancer in his big toe, the result of a neglected football injury. Later in Jamaica, Bob once again received a request from the political leaders to perform a peace concert in his native land. Not phased by earlier tragedy he agreed and assembled one of the greatest concerts ever, the One Love peace concert. Here was where he made history when leaders from the two opposition parties were persuaded to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cathedral Of Chartres Essay The presence made by the Windows has not gone unnoticed and thanks to Abbot Suger for his love of stained glass we can continue to rejoice in his vision. Suger noted in his own words, Thus, when out of my delight in the beauty of the house of God the loveliness of the many colored gems has called me away from external cares, and worthy meditation has induced me to reflect, transferring that which is material to that which is immaterial, on the diversity of the sacred virtues: then it seems to me that I see myself dwelling, as it were, in some strange region of the universe which neither exists entirely in the slime of the earth nor entirely in the purity of Heaven; and that, by the grace of God, I can be transported from this inferior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Cathedral of Chartres is located Southwest of Paris in Chartres, France. The Cathedral of Chartres is considered one of the most exquisite representations of the French Gothic architectural style. This Cathedral was constructed during 1194 through 1250, yet still contains many of its original artifacts such as the stained glass art. The North facing Rose Window displays the Old Testament and is dedicated to the Virgin. These images within the Rose represent Judah and the twelve Kings and the 12 Prophets. The Cathedrale Norte Dame de Chartres claims, Thus the Old Testament is portrayed as the support of the New; the four Evangelists ride on the shoulders of the four Major Prophets: Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel. The North Rose Windows patrons were members of the royal house of Louis IX. The South Rose Window consists of the New Testament and is dedicated to Christ. The Windows depict the Apocalypse, Evangelists and Prophets, while the Mary holds the Christ Child in lancets below. By this point in Medieval Architecture stained glass has soured to new heights and has taken over the nearly the entire inside of places of worship. • 5. The Age Of Enlightenment By Voltaire 1. Do some research on Voltaire and his beliefs as well as the era in which he wrote, which was the Age of Enlightenment. Be sure to cite your sources of information. The Age of Enlightenment occurred from the 1620s until the 1780s. This movement began in England, and steadily spread almost worldwide before long. The term Enlightenment was used to contrast the Dark Ages, a time in which innovation and free thinking was at an all time low. Voltaire s French philosophy included free thinking and the struggle for defense of civil liberties, in which he uses almost every known literary form, including novels, poetry, and performance art such as plays. His intellectual skepticism of traditional beliefs and dogmas denotes an illumined contrast to the supposed dark and superstitious character of the Middle Ages. http://www.pbs.org/faithandreason/gengloss/enlight body.html 2. Satire is a literary genre in which human vices, folly, and flaws are ridiculed or mocked, often with the intention bringing about change. How do Voltaire use techniques such as irony, sarcasm, and understatement for his satirical purposes? Give some examples from throughout the book. Voltaire uses irony and satire in many different situations during the story. A prime example of these literary forms can be found in the form of religion, for example when the Catholic Inquisitor speaks against his own ideals and keeps a mistress, and a Franciscan friar who operates as a jewel thief, even though ... Also, during weeks 0 4, the accumulation of toxins in each week seem to be decreasing bit by bit, but then at week five the accumulation increased a bit (12, 10, 9, 7, 8). Discussion Looking back at the data and results collected, in five weeks the great blue heron will die. The group has successfully modeled a simulation of what will happen to the great blue heron when biological magnification occurs. Based on graph 1.1, at week five there are 46 toxins in the bird. The salt marsh is an ecosystem that has many different organisms and species dwelling upon the surface. Of these organisms, they include sea lettuce, the Sheepshead Minnow, Fluke and the Great Blue Heron. These organisms interact with each other in the ecosystem. The sea lettuce is a producer, which gets eaten by the consumer, the minnows. Then, minnow is eaten by a secondary consumer, a fluke. Lastly, the Great blue Heron, as a top predator and tertiary consumer, eats the fluke. Through this process, toxins are transferred from trophic level to trophic level. An example of this is the BP oil spill, which released a large amount of toxins to the ocean, and animals can take in the toxins, causing large amounts of deaths. Each organism has a lethal threshold, or the amount of toxins an organism can have before death. The Great Blue Heron in this case has a lethal threshold of 44 toxins (EduChange, 2004). • 9. Advertising Effects Of The Counter And Prescription Drug... Advertising Effects of Over the Counter and Prescription drug on Consumer Purchasing Habits By Celise Blackman Mass Communications Research Professor Roman Introduction This study looks at how prescription drugs (Rx) and over the counter drugs (OTC) are advertised and how that potentially effects buying habits of consumers. There have been studies on this in the past but researchers failed to consider important factors such as age, exposure to advertising, health conditions of their audience. Results of this study could allow advertisers to consider our findings when producing advertisements. Consumers who see this study may also choose to do their own research on the Rx or OTC they consider purchasing. Also, medical professionals that have the authority to write Rx for their patients would be better informed of how the advertisements are perceived, causing them to present these drugs more or less. Now, this could negatively affect the pharmaceutical drug industry financially if doctors stop using their advertisements. However, that is not our goal in this study, just mearly a side effect. Literary Review Studies have shown that advertisements for prescription drugs (Rx) and over the counter drugs (OTC) can be perceived differently depending on the audience. Furthermore, according to Alperstein (2014), in relation to Rx drugs, Pharmaceutical marketers historically avoided advertising directly to young adults, and by agreement to teens, perhaps ... It was in these activities I witnessed how calicivirus (non zoonotic) and ringworm (zoonotic) were being spread among the animals due to staff s lack of biosecurity measures. While calicivirus is not a zoonotic disease, it is a highly transmissible disease among cats, especially when proper protocols to prevent spread are not observed. Animals identified with calicivirus have cage cards and signs on their cages alerting the staff to their condition. These cage cards indicate the order in which these cages should be cleaned and animals medicated based on severity of symptoms. The animals most clinical for the disease ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I identified rabies and ringoworm as the most common zoonotic issues at APL. Other considerations for zoonotic disease in shelter medicine are: toxoplasmosis, toxocariosis, pasteurellosis, and bartonellosis. In response to educating the public on these diseases and how they were transmitted, I developed a flyer to display at the shelter as well as provide as a handout to all adopters. I developed separate flyers for each disease determined with zoonotic potential that was most common in this shelter (ringworm) and most well known (rabies). • 13. Millions Danny Hales Essay In the film, Millions, directed by Danny Boyle, a compelling character who intrigues me is the antagonistic Anthony Cunningham. I find his complex character interesting as he is still grieving for his mother s tragic death whilst managing to use her death to his advantage. Also, his way of thinking and dealing with the money is very different to from many other kids his age would do. His way of thinking has a powerful awareness of right from wrong but throughout the movie he gets it jumbled up a bit... The film is set during the changing of all European currencies to a single currency the Euro. Due to this, we can see that money is going to take a significant role in the film. The director shows this in the opening scene, the two boys delightedly lay down next to each other after riding their bikes. As the two brothers lay down next to each other, we can see that Damian is wearing a blue shirt which can often be interpreted as sorrow or calmness. While Anthony is wearing a red jacket which is normally deciphered as hatred or anger. However under Anthony s red jacket, we can see that he is also wearing a blue shirt. The director s purpose of doing this is to foreshadow that Anthony is using ignorance to mask his misery and woe. The director shows us that Anthony disguises his sadness with annoyance towards the end of the movie when Damian brings Dorothy into their house. This is shown because we can see Anthony thinking that she is there to replace their mother. Due to this, we see him whispering a angry hushed tone Is that what you want? Her in there with him, instead of Mum? . Personally, this is quite understandable because I know that it is extremely difficult to be going through the stages of grief after someone who is close to you s death. This could link back to my first paragraph Anthony wants to keep a close relationship with Damian by trying to set a good example by moving on. She wakes up one morning, sick, and stays home from school that day. That night, she gives birth at home by herself, and throws the baby in the trash after putting it in a garbage bag. Devon goes to jail where she makes friends and has to cooperate with her lawyer. Devon can t remember anything from the night when she gave birth but as things start clicking into place, Devon realizes what she has done, and starts having suicidal thoughts. The author uses a great deal of detail when describing characters. For example, the author wrote, Yellow...yellow. The color of Devon s mom s hair. The color of a sun breaking through the flat gray clouds. Of a lemon drop. Devon allows her eyes to droop closed for a moment. I can distinctly imagine the appearance of the characters because the author uses the detail that he does. The plot of this book moves quickly because she starts to remember things from That Night from flashbacks that happen often. The text reads, She steps slightly closer to him, lets her shoulder brush his arm as they walk hand in hand. Lets her hip bump into his. Once. Then. Twice.... The author uses plenty of imagery when describing places and people. For example, the author wrote, Devon s eyes skim over the room s three rectangular tables and finds that vacant seat indicated. It s beside the pale girl with the breads. The girl scoots her chair back to make room for Devon, presenting the seat with an open hand, her crooked smile creeping back over her face. The author s tone in this book is stressful, and outraged. An example from the story includes, No! Get out of here! Devon s mom lunges at the man, grabbing his shoulders from behind, her long nails digging into his jacket. Get the hell out of here! Are you hearing me? The other man, the one in the uniform, appears suddenly, pulling Devon s mom off of the first man. The theme of this story is displacement. Devon is a girl who gets good grades, is involved in sports, and gets her work done on time. She is not someone you would expect to be in jail, and she is so much different from her peers in jail. I can apply this lesson in my life because if I am ever in a place where I feel uncomfortable and out of place, I know that it will end soon. This lesson will make a change in my future ... His older sister, Kayla Dawson, and his mother, Ruth Turner, were also present, standing over a lifeless body and a pool of blood belonging to Mr. Gerald Lee Turner. We could quickly put an end to this case by sentencing my client, R.J., life in prison, but as a victim also, R.J. does not deserve such punishment. For 17 years, Mr. R.J. did a lot of observing. Every observation and experience helped with his choices of actions. Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory will explain how R.J. s behavior was caused by his past. Albert Bandura s Social Cognitive Theory explains that people develops a skill or habit based on what they observed during social interactions, experiences, and outside media influences (Santrock, 2011). Bandura uses a model to explain the factors and how they connect between the environment, person, and behavior. When discussing the person using this model, I also use his sister, Kayla, as an example of the person being influenced. Lord Tennyson perfectly describes the situation of the artist, in the sense that an artist should find himself in solitude, perfect silence and isolation. This seems to be the perfect environment for a poet, as if the whole world disappears and he is alone with his thoughts. But we can also admit that it is not the poet s volition to be isolated in order to create and to be imaginative. The Discovery of African American Identity In the 1900s African American have slowly started to gain their rights after the end of slavery. It was a difficult and tedious process; however, they never gave up on what they believed in, which is racial equality . African American stood together in organizations, marches, and unions because they had something that united them which wasn t just skin color; it was inequality and slavery. African Americans came together to celebrate the New Negro . They created an identity for themselves through history and culture, and it spread nationwide with the creation of the Harlem Renaissance . Harlem became the center of African American culture and the grassroots of African American history, or as Alain Locke has called it: Harlem: Mecca of the New Negro. According to Afro Americans in New York Life and History, The development of the Harlem Renaissance was a result of two factors: First of all, the immigration that started during the war which gave African Americans the motivation to become more confident of who they are, and more responsible for their race and rights. They became defiant, bitter, and impatient. They would not take silence and inequality as an answer. They expressed themselves through the Harlem Renaissance. Until Brandon s sex was discovered, almost everyone that he interacted with daily believed that he was a male from birth. Nobody really questioned Brandon s gender or sex because they believed that he exemplified the typical idea of a man. In the film, Brandon s friends and ex girlfriends all described him as a male based mostly on Brandon s gender expression, looks, and hobbies. The people in the film all described how Brandon would wear clothes for men, sit with his legs open, and talk about girls and cars. Even Nissen s sister described how one time her, Brandon, and others, were in a van and Brandon had to go to the bathroom and tried to pee out of a window. All of these factors made up the people who Brandon interacted with schemas about gender. Nobody ever thought about Brandon maybe being a female because their cultural lens, a male does everything Brandon does, so he is a male. This concept also shows up later in the film when Brandon was questioned by a woman about whether he was truly a male. The deciding factor for this woman on whether Brandon was a man or not, was determined by if he had a penis. This woman s idea of a traditional man involved a penis; so if Brandon did not have one Brandon could not have been a man. However, the woman, because of her pre existing conceptions, she did not think that maybe one does not need a penis to be a male. For example, disregarding transsexuals and transgendered people, a male could have been castrated, effectively removing his penis. • 29. The 3d Seismic Survey Of East Godavari Mangrove Area The 3D seismic survey in East Godavari mangrove area has short term effects on the environment. The surveyed area includes the main six reserved mangrove patches in East coast of India and the process of lying of geophones cables and shoot hole drilling for 3D seismic exploration may lead to the destruction of habitat through clearing the vegetation. Primary sources of disturbances associated with exploration include equipment transportation inside the mangrove, vehicle traffic, shot hole drilling activities, and underground blasting. Seismic exploration survey has the potential to affect wildlife either by increasing noise and human activity around them, or seismic shooting process. The seismic activities can even lead to long term habitat alteration. Though the exploration activities is often a short term process, extending over a few months, the footprint of exploration activities especially in the high wildlife sensitive area can be quite large (Jorgenson et al. 2010). Seismic exploration can alter plant community structure, directly affecting fauna of that area on a long term basis (Jorgenson et al. 2010). There is evidence to suggest wildlife may react to seismic activity with elevated metabolic rates (Bradshaw et al. 1998), and the cumulative effects of repeated disturbance of individuals may affect population reproductive rates if exploration is widespread (Bradshaw et al. 1998). Extensive studies are conduced to estimate the impact of seismic activities on marine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Disadvantages Of Securitization As securitization seems to be a lucrative way for banks to not only enhance liquidity and diversify risk but also improves their performance considerable incentive problems occurred during the turmoil and among the different parties. Those incentive problems led to information asymmetries and moral hazard among the involved stakeholders .As the Bank/Originator creates reference pool sells them to the bankruptcy remote trust (such as Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac) Bankruptcy remote trust buys reference pool and securitizes it sells them to the capital market where potential investors exists to purchase securities purchase of securities by investors 6 gap between mortgage originators and investors increases, it reduces the incentives for lenders to screen mortgage applicants thoroughly. During the turmoil banks had more and better information about the Mortgage Backed Securities and their performance value in contrast to third parties as they knew more about the mortgage applicant and the underlying mortgage loan .As bank incentives are to issue more mortgage loans and then sell them to bankruptcy remote trusts to securitize them, they did not bear the risk of the mortgage default and this leads to ... Therefore, the process of transfer of the receivables from the originator to the SPV involves an outlay on account of stamp duty, which can make securitization commercially unviable in several states. If the securitized instrument were issued as evidencing indebtedness, it would be in the form of a debenture or bond subject to stamp duty. On the other hand, if the instrument is structured as a Pass Through Certificate (PTC) that merely evidences title to the receivables, then such an instrument would not attract stamp duty, as it is not an instrument provided for specifically in the charging ... • 31. Dogs Rule, Cats Drool Dogs are happy to see you no matter what kind of mood you re in. Everyday when I come home from school my dog, Nemo, is there to greet me at the door by jumping on me and licking my face. I could ve had an amazing, miserable, tired, or content day and the jumping still continues. Canines are loyal friends and the relationship between dogs and humans goes way back. Dogs are better than cats because they assist humans and show more affection. Dogs have been domesticated for as long as 135,000 years which makes cats seem fairly new to the household. Both dogs and cats were originally used for reasons that benefited human work. Now a days, dogs are far more useful with job skills. When I was little, I used to live outside. Not literally, but just in the sense that I was an outdoors kind of child. I enjoyed helping my dad with household projects and was ecstatic when I found out he would build a tree house for me. While he built the major part of it with dangerous equipment, I put myself in charge of collecting sticks to try and help my father put it together. Sooner or later, Nemo, my dog, was running back and forth with sticks in his mouth helping me collect what I needed. Canines have the ability to serve as seeing eye dogs, firedogs, service dogs or just a playful, loyal companion. The closer the dog and human s relationship is, the stronger the feelings between them are. Canines have a talent of recognizing dangerous situation and being there for humans in their time of ... • 32. Muscular Dystrophy Challenges All people have come across challenges, some challenges can be conquered and some of them cannot. My challenge was given to me when I was born and that challenge is a disability called muscular dystrophy. Muscular dystrophy is a group of genetic diseases that cause continuous weakness of the muscles, so in other words I lose strength as time flies by. I started to notice weakness in my early childhood, when I was ten years old. An example of me noticing my disability starting to kick in was when I was running for physical education, and I felt like I was connected to a parachute. As the years went by things that took physical strength started to get harder. For example, running, walking, lifting objects, and getting up off of chairs. I was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy when I was about thirteen years old. This disability is a challenge for me because it gets in the way of me doing many things that other people with the strength can do. This challenge has prevented me from doing many types of movements. Since I do not have the average strength I need help doing a lot of doing certain types of movements. An ... The objective of the project was to create a replica of a building with a certain type of architecture. My group and I came down to a decision and we choose Egyptian architecture and we based the replica on the Temple of Horus. Since I was the leader for this project that meant I had to create the measurements and assign the group members and I on what to do. Not only that I was the quick thinker so if anything went wrong I came up with a solution quickly. An example is when the measurements of a side of the building did not matchup, so what I said is to just place a side that does met the measurement requirements and outline it and cut it out again. This is by far the best opportunity to show my leadership ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
