Comparing Cloning, Cryonics, And Calorie Restriction
Since ancient times there has always been a debate in the field of philosophy of whether
individuals continue to live after death. Although many religions believe in the concept of
immortality . I believe that immortality could exist, because of cloning, cryonics, and Calorie
Restriction. For hundreds of years people have been attempting to preserve and prolong life, and
essentially become immortal. There are many new technologies in this time of scientific exploration
and advancement that claim to do these things. There are many methods that are currently being
studied as ways to either prolong life or to become immortal. All of these aspects take a different
approach to man s constant search for immortality. Immortality has primarily been... Show more

If death is an eternal oblivion then cryonics can offer an alternative and the probability, no
matter how unlikely, cryonics can offer a future. Cryonics is particularly popular among people
who want to be immortal . Cryonics is nothing more than an attempt of raising the dead making
them alive again. Actually the word cryonics is the practice of chilling a dead body at subzero
levels in the hopes of someday reviving it. Cryonics is the practice of cooling a person
immediately after death to the point where the molecular physical decay completely stops, and
the presumption is that scientific and medical procedures currently being created will be able to
revive them and restore them to good health later. A patient held in such a state is said to be in
cryonic suspension . There is reasons to believe that current cryonics procedures will preserve the
anatomical basis of the mind. Cryonics became more efficient with the implementation of
nanotechnology in it . The first mention of nanotech occurred in a speech given by Richard
Feynman in 1959. Historically cryonic experiments started in 1962 with the publication of the
prospect of immortality . The main idea of cryonics is that personality, identity, and memory are
going to be stored in cellular structures in the brain. There are many paths to immortality and it
seems that cryonics could be a path to do

Love and Morality in the The Lady with the Lapdog by Anton Chekhov
Introduction
The Lady with the Lapdog, is a story by a Russian author Anton Chekhov. It is a story that raises
eyebrows and entices the mind as one reads through to understand the actions of the two main
characters, Anna and Gurov. Their actions are looked down and unspeakable according to the
Russian society. Chekhov has successfully managed to show how self pleasure rise above
everything in his short story. The short story revolves around love and morality as the two
characters fall for one another because of their unhappy married lives.

Chekhov has succeeded in bringing out love and morality as two main themes in his story.
Bringing two people who are already married together and giving them the atmosphere and
opportunity to love each other shows some ambiguity in his literary work. Dmitri having
married his wife at a young age while still in the university didn t give him the opportunity to
experience life. He loathes his wife and as a result he has many love affairs ... he considered her
narrow and unintelligent. After meeting Anna and falling in love with her, he does many things
out of the ordinary just to be with her. He lies to his wife that he was taking his daughter to
school just to get chance to be with Anna in a hotel room. ...Gurov went to the Slaviansky Bazaar
after dropping her daughter in school. He lies a second time to his wife on Christmas day that he
is scheduled to attend a business trip at Saint Petersburg (Chekhov 15). He goes to see Anna and
confesses his love to her. Chekhov has thus portrayed Dmitri to lack morals just because they are
in love; he does things against the ways society just because of love. Anna also plays an important
role in developing the themes of love and morality. She truly loves Dmitri and enjoys the quality
time they spend together. Her unhappy marriage with the lackey prompts her to fall in love with
Dmitri who is also unhappy in his marriage.

Key Factors That Impact Change
Key Factors That Impact Change
The need to undergo organizational change is something that can completely intimidate any
organization. According to Maurer (2005) Sound change management theory and practice seem to
cross cultural boundaries. Although the practice of change management initially developed in the
United States and Western Europe, it seems to have broad applicability around the globe today. (p.
19). There are a lot of key factors that must be in place to help guide the organization through a
change process and ensure that there is proper change management. This paper will discuss each
unit s specific strengths and opportunities for improvement as change was implemented at Texas
Children s Hospital, identify three factors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The team was able to engage in events to help them be better prepared for the official change
before it launched. Process change can sometimes be accompanied by a certain level of difficulty;
Unit 1 was able to combat that with support resources available for the end users. The end users
were provided with resources to help them through any issues during and after the implementation
process.
One of the most important strengths of Unit 1 is communication. Effective communication in this
unit allowed for the give and take of information and feedback among the members of the unit.
The open lines of communication allowed the end users to know if, and how, they would be
affected by the change. The end users were also able to give feedback during the process, which
allowed the leaders to assess progress. Although there were many strengths in Unit 1, there was
some opportunity for improvement as well. Although the scores for Unit 1 were significantly
higher than those of Unit 2, there they still represented gaps that Unit 1 could utilize as
opportunities for growth. Based on the graphs provided, Unit 1 could improve employee
participation and provide more information and training to increase confidence.
Business Unit 2 had some strengths as well, such as the adequate resources to properly implement
the change initiative. The leadership for this team was also very involved in the beginning,
unfortunately that changed

Our Lady of Lourdes St.Bernadette was born at Lourdes,France. Her parents where very poor
and she herself was in poor health. She suffered severe asthma and also contracted Cholera.
Bernadette was sent to collect firewood with her sister and a friend near the grotto of
Massabielle where she experienced her first vision. The beautiful Lady was wearing a white veil,
a blue girdle and a yellow rose on each foot. She made the sign of the cross with her rosary made
of ivory and gold. Bernadette knelt down and took out her own rosary and started praying. After

International Strategy.
What is international strategy? An international strategy is a strategy through which the firm sells
its goods or services outside its domestic market (Hill 378). One of the primary reasons for
implementing an international strategy (as opposed to a strategy focused on the domestic market)
is that international markets yield potential new opportunities. Raymond Vernon captured the
classic rationale for international diversification (Vernon 191). He suggested that, typically, a firm
discovers an innovation in its home country market, especially in an advanced economy such as
that of the United States. Some demand for the product may then develop in other countries, and
exports are provided by domestic operations. Increased demand in... Show more content on

Expected returns from the investments represent a primary predictor of firms moving into
international markets. Still, firms from different countries have different expectations and use
different criteria to decide whether to invest in international markets. Economies of scale, scope,
and learning By expanding their markets, firms may be able to enjoy economies of scale,
particularly in their manufacturing operations. To the extent that a firm can standardize its products
across country borders and use the same or similar production facilities, thereby coordinating
critical resource functions, it is more likely to achieve optimal economies of scale (Mauri Phatak
234). Firms may be able to exploit core competencies in international markets through resource and
knowledge sharing between units across country borders (Hill 384). This sharing generates synergy,
which helps the firm produce higher quality goods or services at lower cost. In addition, working
across international markets provides the firm with new learning opportunities. Multinational firms
have substantial occasions to learn from the different practices they encounter in separate
international markets. Even firms based in developed markets can learn from operations in
emerging markets. Location Advantages Firms may locate facilities in other countries to lower the
basic costs of the goods or services they

Pros And Cons Of National Service Essay
In Singapore, relations with countries like Malaysia and Indonesia are very important due to
geographical reasons. Singapore must never take its right to exist and security for granted due to
the fact that we are one of the safest counties in the world. Being a small nation of the international
community, Singapore must be able to rely on access to other countrymarkets to have fair trade
practices. Ever since Singapore attained its independence, being a good neighbor and having
economic and social relations has been its goal with all counties.
One of Singapore s key principle is to maintain a stable environment in Southeast Asia. Threats of
terrorism is taken very seriously. By having economic, political and cultural ties, Singapore is able

and ready men for any emergency and also widens a person s horizons making themselves a better
person as it instills self confidence and leadership qualities attained during the time and can be put
to good use during civilian life. Throughout the training, we will learn to be more independent and
disciplined and through constant training, it makes us not only physically but mentally strong as
well. It helps with our independent life and affects our mental maturity. National service also helps
by promoting racial integration, people from various ethnic groups and different backgrounds will
be gathered in the same place and go through everything together, this helps them bond by working

Appalachian Spring Concert Report
Exposition IV: An Appalachian Spring, is a performance of various musicians within Virginia Tech
s School of Performing Arts. The event took place at Moss Arts Center in the Anne and Ellen Fife
theater, with musicians stationed on stage and on the side balconies. A different instrument section
played each segment of the performance, including: horn ensemble, string ensemble, bassoonists,
percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, the Linux Laptop Orchestra, Kinect sensor and computer, and
male and female choirs. This exposition was held in order to benefit the performing arts scholarship
program at Virginia Tech, but it seemed that the performance had the goal of showing off the
individual ensemble s talents, and, in the end, combining those talents.
Growing up in the Appalachians, I have had plenty of experience with bluegrass and folk, and the
wide range of the culture that has had influences on the music. Due to my background, I ve heard
two of the three songs which were being adapted. I attended the exposition curious to see how

Similarities And Differences Between China And India
1. Introduction
Some of the most frequent economic discussions nowadays concern the power and unique growth
trajectories of emerging markets. Especially the two biggest countries population wise, China and
India, are subject to many recent academic works. Most of them analyze country specific
advantages as for example the vast pool of labor. However, there is an emerging trend towards
researches about the new paths of capability accumulation these two countries have followed. This
paper aims to illustrate the similarities and differences in the catch up process of an Indian and a
Chinese firm.
Firstly, the paper describes the different macroeconomic environments in both countries. Secondly,

SAIC
SAIC was founded as state owned enterprise (SOE) under the direct control of the Shanghai
municipality. The company produced its first passenger vehicle in 1959, a reversed engineered
imitation based on the Mercedes 220s of 1956 targeting elite public officials (Nam, 2015).
Between 1970 and the 1980s SAIC achieved an annual production volume of 3000 5000 units,
which was sufficient to reach the market leadership in China due to the general repression of sedans.
Yet, the car manufacturer was unable to strengthen its extremely weak technological capabilities. In
order to do so, a joint venture between Volkswagen (VW) and SAIC, SVW, was founded in 1985
providing market access to VW and learning opportunities for SAIC. According to Thun, the
Chinese manufacturer was operating with decrepit assembly plants, outdated equipment based on
highly labor intensive procedures. Furthermore, it was embedded in an unfavorable environment
lacking competitiveness and supplier (Thun, 2006). The government of Shanghai initiated a
localization drive through tax methods, subsidized credits and monitoring (Nam, 2015).
Nevertheless, it supported SVW through relaxed foreign exchange constraints and put effort into
solving the problem of lacking suppliers (Nam,

Dead Man s Pockets
Stephen Covey, an educator, author, and businessman, once said most of us spend too much time
on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important . A lot of people are so focused on
work that has to be done, even though it s not what they should be prioritizing, for instance, family
and friends. They are not appreciating living in the moment and instead are rushing around, not
making timefor the things they should be. If people are determined to get work done, they will
soon take actions they wish hadn t occurred. In the short story, Contents of the Dead Man s

Essay on Hubble Telescope
The Hubble Space Telescope is one of the most amazing machines in orbit right now. In 1946, an
astrophysicist named Dr. Lyman Spitzer proposed that a telescope in space would reveal better
and clearer images that are even far from earth than any ground telescope. This idea was very
extravagant because no one had yet launched a rocket into outer space. As the US space program
excelled quickly over the early years, Spitzer lobbied NASA and Congress to develop a space
telescope. In 1975, the European Space Agency and NASA began to develop the telescope that
would change astronomy for ever. In 1977, Congress approved funding for the development of the
space telescope and NASA named Lockheed Martin Aerospace Company as the prime contractor...

Scientists came up with a solution to correct the defect in which they came up with a replacement
contact lens called COSTAR. The Corrective Optics Space Telescope Axial Replacement consisted
of several minute mirrors that would intercept the beam of the flawed mirror and relay the
corrected beam to the scientific instruments at the focus of the mirror. The Hubble telescope is a
compound telescope design where light enters the telescope through the opening and bounces off
the primary mirror to a secondary mirror. Then the secondary mirror reflects the light through a
hole in the center of the primary mirror to a focal point behind the primary mirror. At the focal
point, half transparent mirrors distribute the light to the various scientific instruments. The Hubble

Orca Whales
The phylum of Orca Whales are Chordata. The subphylum is vertebrata. Animals of the Chordata
family have four key features: notochord, dorsal hollow nerve cord, pharyngeal slits, and post anal
tail. Notochords are a flexible rod shaped structure that is found in the embryonic stage of
development along in the adult stage of some chordatespecies. This feature is located within the
digestive tube and the nerve cord; it provides skeletal support through the length of the body. The
dorsal hollow nerve cord comes from the ectoderm that rolls into a hollow tube during the
development stage. The ectoderm is an outer layer of three tissues within the embryo that produces

Jawless fish are similar to other fish expect that did not evolve with any jaw; they instead use a
circular sucker like mouth to attach and suck the blood of their prey. An example would be the
sea lamprey or eels. Cartilaginous fish have jaws but their skeleton is made of flexible cartilage,
they don t have bones. Examples of these animals are sharks, skates, and rays; these organisms are
often the predator hunting for their food. Bony fish are the largest class of vertebrate with about
29,000 species living in various environments like freshwater, coral reefs, and salt water. Bony fish
have a skeleton made entirely of bone; they tend to have good eyesight too. These organisms have
operculum which is a special flap that allows the fish to breathe without swimming by covering and
protecting the gills. Salmon, cod, and sturgeon are examples of bony fish. Reptiles are a four legged
class of vertebrate who have adapted to living on land better than amphibians. These adaptions
include some features like amniotic eggs, tough skin that is coated by keratin, and a respiratory
system that has branching bronchial tubes within the lungs. Amniotic eggs are eggs that have
amniotic fluid nourishing and protecting the embryo within the egg. Another feature that reptiles
have are the capability to molt, which means they shed their outer skin, replacing it with new.
Creatures that fall under reptiles are snakes, turtles, crocodiles and lizards. Amphibians are four
legged creatures that do not lay eggs with amniotic fluid; instead these eggs tend to dry out fast
forcing the amphibian to lay their eggs in water. These creatures use their lungs to capture oxygen
rather than using gills like fish. Amphibians interchange their environment between on land or in
the water. Salamanders, toads, and frogs are examples of amphibians. Birds are

The Absence Of Effective Birth Control Essay
INTRODUCTON
The absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940. Up
until the arrival of the contraceptive pill in the early 1960 s, New Zealand, predominantly women,
but also men struggled to acquire effective and reliable birth control. There were many reasons why
birth control was limited and frowned upon in New Zealand for over half of the twentieth century,
including, religion, the social expectation of women, and the desire for a large population in New
Zealand. Many women advocated for the introduction of an effective form of birth control in New
Zealand for a number of years before becoming successful in 1961. The women s main argument
during their fight for contraception availability in New Zealand, was that abortion would be rare if
the introduction of a reliable contraceptive method were to happen. In this essay, I will argue that
the absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940 by
first analysing the attitudes of society during this era, particularly towards women and
contraception, I will then examine the methods women were resorting to in order to prevent
pregnancy, finally, I will discuss the regular occurrence of abortions during the first half of the
twentieth century and how birth control lays a factor in this. Concluding with, the absence of
effective birth control did in fact lead women to resort to abortion from 1900 to 1940.

My background and the environment in which I was raised has shaped me into an openminded
person. I was born in Turkey and moved to America when I was four years old. I grew up being
influenced by my father s British culture and my mother s Turkish one, but I was also exposed to
many different cultures at my school. I go to an International School in Houston and I have
constantly been surrounded by members of different countries and exposed to the celebration of
multiple cultures in performances and festivals throughout the school year. The city of Houston is

Women involved in street prostitution are subjected to routine violence and in the last 7 years, there
have been unresolved murders and suspicious deaths, (Women s Support Project 2001).
Historically, policing practices have been heavy handed and local government has sought to limit
the spread of indoor prostitution. This is in contrast to the population of indoor prostitution in
Edinburgh, which is approximately (90%) with only around 50 women involved in street
prostitution, the proportion of intravenous drug users is also reportedly lower (Mackay, F Schaap,
A 2000).
In England and Wales between 1989 and 1995 there were 1,700 convictions of young people
under 18 for offences relating to prostitution with a further 2,300 cautions issued. It was within this
same period that there was a 40% increase in the number of recorded cases, which involved
children aged 16 or under, (Mackay, F Schaap, A 2000). This has lead to the publication of national
guidelines on the safeguarding of children involved in street prostitution in England and Wales
(Department of Health, 2000).

Beyond this research there have been more recent outcomes that continue to support the benefits
of men s sheds. Colla, P. Kirwana, L. and Lambea,B. (2014) in their paper Engaging hard to

The Importance Of Evidence Based Practice In Nursing
Evidence based practice in nursing includes blending clinical judgment and expertise with the
best available research and patient characteristics and preference. (Treas Wilkinson,2014, p. 104)
It requires a transition from nursing care that is base on opinions, past practices, and tradition to
practice that is base on scientific research and proven evidence. (Catalano, 2015, p. 589) The
goal of evidence based practice is to improve the quality of care by identifying the most cost
efficient treatments for a particular disease. The process of evidence based includes formulating
answerable questions example would be interventions, conducting a systematic review of research,
evaluating the quality of evidence obtained, compiling and analyzing the data to prepare a

guidelines and evidence with clinical expertise and the patient s preference and characteristics.

When it comes to releasing someone, whether it is a termination or a layoff, it was discussed if
training for those types of situations would be suitable, or if one could even prepare to carry out
something of that delicate nature. You can train someone how to do anything, but that does not
necessarily mean it will be conducted in the manner it was taught. I think it all highly depends on
the situation and the individual who is delivering the news to the employee. The author s best point
is one of the best solutions; transparency. Managers should allow people the autonomy of reacting,
working through, and coping with a layoff in their own way. Transparency is the most respectful
approach that management can take as it shows them the truth of the situation and explains the
steps being taken and why. I would add rather than trying to find another position within

Chile And The Us Banking Industry
The present working paper is referred to the analysis of some financial benefits that banking
institutions would be receiving as Too Big to Fail (TBTF) banks. The request is whether those
institutions are constantly subsided from governments or it is merely a hypothetical idea. For those
purposes, it is analyzed the Chilean banking industry to disclose the implicit subsidy in the South
American country. In order to answer the posited questions, first it is cited some similarities
between Chile and the US banking industry, and then how it evolved to this point after several
financial crises. Secondly, it is examined potential implicit guaranties of Chile s TBTF banks. In
that sense, it is analyzed the concentration and interconnection in Chile. Then, it is analyzed those
expected financial benefits that flow to the TBTF banks. Specifically, two of the likely financial
benefits. Primarily, the over the counter (OTC) derivatives, and then repurchases agreements in the
banking industry, especially in events of default, insolvency, and bankruptcy. Thirdly and lastly, it
is stated some remedies that I can propose to solve these issues, including the Subsidy Reserve Act,
as adapted for the Chilean banking industry, among others. As a result, policymakers, congressmen,
local and international organizations, and governments would be able to use this work for the
financial and banking reform. At the end, the purpose is bringing some balance between TBTF

Mental and Emotional Development
Write an essay of approx 1,000 words about your understanding of the older child.
Include detail of mental and emotional Development.
Going to school marks a new horizon of a child s life at a time when he/she thinks they are ready
for the greater challenges. Children are curious about the use of letters and words to convey
meaning, and have the manual dexterity to hold a pen or pencil and begin to write.
Together reading and writing broadens the child s experience enabling him/her to learn more about
the world he/she lives in. Their mental ability allows him/her to understand the symbols of letters
and numbers and by manipulating these new experiences develop.

It is important for those caring for children that they are aware of the attitudes of others and offer
opportunities to the child to talk about this.
Praise means a lot to a child of this age as it would to a lot of other people. Efforts should be made
to recognise each child s special attributes.
Summary of Major Developments:
For 5 to 11 year olds: 1. Decreasing dependence on family and developing relationships with other
adults and children. 2. Becoming an active, contributing member of the family. 3. Learning how to
deal with strong feelings appropriately. 4. Learning how to reason and solve problems logically. 5.
Developing understandings of concepts such as number, time and money. 6. Adjusting to changing
body image and coming to terms with sex role identity.
Adolescence Mental and Emotional Development:
Adolescence has been charactised as a time of storm and stress, but many adolescents make the
transition from child to adult with relative ease and with little trauma either to themselves or to
their parents. It is not surprising that, while their bodies are so rapidly changing, youngsters
become quite preoccupied with them and wonder what they will become.
Girls see their first period as a positive achievement towards adulthood or a dreadful event which
signifies the end of childhood.
Boys fear to speak as their voice breaks or they are delighted as their facial hair becomes obviously
present. The attitudes displayed will

Developing Private Label Between China And Uk Essay
In recent years, due to the change of own profit model, high inflation, increasing operating costs and
competition from online commerce, traditional retail businesses have grown slowly in China.
Chinese retail business, especially supermarkets need to be transformed and updated. Developing
private label brands is one of the most efficient ways to realise supermarkets transition and
updating, it could reduce costs and improve supply chain system. However, the development of
supermarket private labelin China is only in start up stage now which leaves plenty of scope to
learn from mistakes and successes from other businesses. The British retail market is the second
largest in Europe, and has the highest profit margins in the world. Its supermarket private label has
developed into a mature stage (Zhen, 2007). Since there are limited studies in the area of analysing
the gap between British and Chinese supermarket in developing private label, this study will help
to stop the gap in literature study of comparing the development of private label between China and
UK. In addition, it may predict the future developing trend of Chinese private label and benefit
Chinese supermarket managers on how to introduce more successful strategies of private label
products in further development on the basis of British experience.
The author chose this topic due to a personal interest on the development of supermarket, growing
up in a family where most members work in the retail industry.

The Importance Of Multilingualism As An Official Language
Every nation should set multilingualism as their main objective. There are many benefits both at
an individual level as well as at state level for people to be multilingual. Firstly, knowing multiple
languages helps us to adapt into and interact in this globalised world we live in. Secondly, being
able to express ourselves in a languagewe identify ourselves most with, and have the strongest
knowledge of, is a human right.
It is important to make a distinction between a national language and an official language before
discussing any further. National language is a language associated with a particular country where
it is recognised as a symbol of national identity (Joan Swann, 2004) whereas an official language
can be defined as a language which is used for political, legal and administrative communications
within a given political territory. (Joan Swann, 2004) This essay will focus on national languages
and their importance across the globe from small communities to national level without overruling
the importance of having official language(s) helping to run governments.
Due to globalisation, the world nowadays is significantly interconnected economically,
technologically and culturally. Even though globalisation is not a new phenomenon, and can be
argued to have started already in the 1500s when the transatlantic exploration and consolidation of
European hegemony began, the pace and the scope of it is greater than everВІ (Ruth Wodak, 2011).

Influence Of Greek Folk Song
Greece sits at the crossroad between the Eastern and Western cultures of Asia and Europe. Being at
this critical junction, Greece has experienced the ebb and flow of two cultural currents which
subjected and allowed her to assimilate creatively diverse influences. Once Constantinople fell in
1453, completing the collapse of the Byzantine empire, there followed four hundred years of slavery
which greatly hindered the natural development of Hellenism and restricted its spiritual evolution.
This period was particularly harsh and had an inhibitive influence on Greek music. From the twelfth
or thirteenth century forward, an economically exhausted Byzantium was slowly collapsing due to
years of factional rebellion, religious disputes, western crusades and eastern invasions. While the

As early as the first century A.D., ancient Greek tragedy, which at its peak of harmonious unity,
incorporated poetry, music and dance, had disintegrated into its component elements.
Actor tragedians continued to perform only certain parts of the dialogue of the tragedies, while
others with good voices sang the vocal parts. There also arose a gesticulator whose purpose was to
illustrate, with pantomimic gestures, what the actor tragedian was singing. This gradually
transformed the old Attic style of tragedy and comedy into the tragic pantomime style of the
imperial Byzantine years that included dance, mime, recitation and song. The reactions of the
Church Fathers and the stream of condemnatory decisions and excommunications issued by
ecumenical synods indicate the popularity of these spectacle concerts in multi ethnic Byzantium
and the influence of the mime performances on the austere moral code of the Christians for many

Examples Of Conflict In Rules Of The Game By Amy Tan
Within the text Rules of the Game written by Amy Tan, the clash of Chinese beliefs and values with
those of American beliefs and values can be seen. This clash of values and beliefs between two
culture causes many mother daughter conflicts throughout the story. Waverly grew up in San
Francisco in a Chinese American neighborhood while her motherwas a first generation immigrant.
This difference in their surroundings has caused their beliefs and values to differ from each other.
Due to the clashing of Chinese and American cultures, there are multiple incidents of conflict
between MeiMei and her mother. A key example of such an incident is when MeiMei is forced to
accompany her mother to the Saturday market. According to the text, MeiMei s mother would
proudly walk with MeiMei and tell everyone who looked towards them that MeiMei was her
daughter. MeiMei then told her mom if she could stop telling everyone who looked their way that
MeiMei was her daughter. Her mother misunderstood what MeiMei said, thinking that MeiMei was
ashamed of walking with her. This then caused MeiMei to tell her mother, If you wantto show me
off, then why don t you learn to play chess. When MeiMei had realized that what she said was
wrong, she ran away from her mother. To MeiMei, her mother going around and telling everyone
that MeiMei was her daughter was embarrassing because she didn t want her mom to use her as
a source to gain popularity. In MeiMei s beliefs, her chess victories were her own
accomplishments, one she should be the only one to use since she feels as though she gained them
on her own. Her mother on the other hand, sees MeiMei s achievements as a victory for the whole
familyand is proud of her daughter. MeiMei misunderstands this, thinking her mother was just
crediting herself for MeiMei s work and so runs off. This clash in values caused this incident.
MeiMei s escape from her mother leads to a new conflict of MeiMei running away from her mom.
It is stated in the text that MeiMei ran through the alleyways until she realized that she was running
from nothing. After two hours, MeiMei returned home and her mother said, We not concerning this
girl. This girl not have concerning for us. From this it can be

Petroglyphs Writing History
The idea of communicating ideas between people and generations is not a new one, for millennia
stories, advice, knowledge, has been passed from generation to generation; first orally, then through
petroglyphs, and finally handwriting. Although true handwriting has existed for five thousand
years; first invented by the Sumerians as a means of long distance communication which was
necessitated by trade (Mark, Joshua J. Writing. Ancient History Encyclopedia. Ancient History
Encyclopedia, 28 Apr. 2011), it may not be the first form of writing ever invented. Some scholars
argue that the petroglyphs found on cave walls in France and Spain were the first form of writing,
these paintings were pictograms, depicting not only a hunt, but, some theorize, the location of
hunts, who participated, and sometimes even contained, or may have contained, a lesson. Don t
hunt buffalo here unless you have a hunting party , Dangerous Mammoth, kill many hunters , Good

Mesh Editing with Poisson-Based Gradient Field Manipulation
Introduction
Three dimensional geometric models are the base data for applications in computer graphics,
computer aided design, visualization, multimedia, and other related fields. This report will focus on
computerized modeling editing of discrete (digital) geometry, in particular polygonal meshes. In
this report, I will survey the state of the art techniques for creating, manipulating, editing and
analyzing digital geometry models.
The mesh editing techniques we discussed here are : Poisson Shape Interpolation[1], Mesh Editing
with Poisson Based Gradient Field Manipulation[2], Mesh Editing based on Discrete Laplace and
Poisson Models[3], Mesh Editing with Curvature Flow Laplacian[4] and Mean Value coordinates
for Closed triangular meshes[5]. All the five techniques will be discussed in detail in section 2 6.
In section 7, we ll do a comprehensive comparison of these five techniques and conclude in section
8. Poisson Shape Interpolation
Shape interpolation which is also known as shape blending or morphing is used in many aspects
of computer graphics industry widely. Provided two input models, the shape interpolation will
produce a set of shapes in sequence to demonstrate how the source model is changed to the target
model smoothly. It can also be applied to forecast new product from known products.
It s well known that in B rep(boundary representation) shape interpolation[6], there are two major
issues which are correspondence problem and trajectory problem. The

During the period of both wars, the U.S. committed to preventing further growth of communism.
During the Korean War, the South gained backing and assistance of the U.S., reasoning that the
government of North Korea were wanting to pursue the expansion of their communism towards the
south of Korea. With the increasing growth of American troops, air and naval forces, and strategic
combat, the intervention of the U.S. slowed the North Koreans from advancing south. American
involvement in Vietnam was an implementation of the Containment Policy, which was a the
obligation of U.S. foreign approach makers to terminate the expansion of communism (Vietnam
War). With the participation of the U.S., the South was provided financial assistance and military
hardware. This permitted North Vietnamese troops to retain their militia in the south.
A difference between the wars were that the United Nations took a vital part in the Korean War.
This made the Korean War in which an international organization played a major role. After the
North Korean Invasion, the United Nations adjured member countries to come to the assistance of
South Korea. Sixteen countries responded by sending troops, while forty one countries sent food,
equipment, and other supplies (Korean War). With the assistance of the U.N., South Korea was

people develop successfully and positively, but this is not always the case. For instance, societies

The Man Who Was Almost a Man the main character, Dave Saunders, also faces a problem which

In Kompang, rhythm is mainly characterized by the interlocking of different parts divided within
the Kompang ensemble. Interlocking is basically done with two or more Kompangs playing
simultaneously, with one part playing the Basic beat which is usually the downbeats; another part
playing the Rhythm beat which is usually the off beats; and an additional part(s) playing the
Leading beat which is usually characterized by triplets or a syncopated rhythm that creates a unique
interlocking texture specific to the Malay Kompang musical genre (Hahril, 2010). In addition,
instrumentation is a musical element that is relatively fixed in Kompang; there is usually a group
of Kompangs playing together, and occasionally, accompanying voice.

Euripides Portrayal Of Women
Euripides was one of the most well known playwrights of ancient Greece. He was known as a
modern playwright because he wrote with realism, and had a doubtful way of portraying the
gods in his plays. Euripides s plays had women as the main character because he had a
sympathetic way of portraying women. The women were mainly strong and are passionate in
their motives for their actions. Although Euripides is well known now, during ancient Greece
Euripides wasn t an appreciated playwright. When there were play performances men would be
the audience since women weren t allowed to take part in or watch the plays. So with the focus of
women in his plays, he gave them a voice, which would throw men off, mainly because they would
be terrified if their wives did and said the same things. Euripides supplied a philosophical thought to
the women he has written about.
Euripides was not one for female stereotypes. He gave his female characters realistic reasons for
their behavior and while it the female characters actions, such as killing her offspring and killing
their husbands, is frowned upon in a patriarchal society, it was as if Euripides made a point to have
men stop viewing women under a passive light and give more thought on how women s thoughts.
Because Euripides partial understanding of women, he redefines beauty in his female character

airborne continuously flying routes over the arctic from 1961 through the entirety of Rolling
Thunder. Because of the simmering Cold War, Johnson and McNamara favored restraint over a
more aggressive approach prosecuting the war in Vietnam and specifically to combat the SAM
threat. A visceral hatred of Johnson and McNamara grew as Rolling Thunder progressed. When a
New York Times article titled How Johnson Makes Foreign Policy was published, pilots mocked
the breakfast meetings over which targets were selected and policy decisions were made. As Billy
Sparks lamented, The major problem with Rolling Thunder from day one was that the targets we
were assigned made zero sense ... I think my mother could have done better. Indeed, the command

because he felt guilty about the situation. NASCARis a definitely a dangerous sport, there is no

Reinventing Nissan Essay

Business
Case: Nissan
Reinventing Nissan
1) What benefits will Nissan gain if its procurement of parts is combined with Renault s parts
procurement on a global basis? Are there any costs to this change? What problems does Nissan
create if it abandons the keiretsu system for purchasing parts? In what ways might the Internet
facilitate this change? Ghosn s plan to combine, centralize, and globalize Nissan and Renault s parts
procurement would cut costs by 20 percent! Before this change, Ghosn estimated Nissan s parts
procurement costs were around 10 percent higher than Renault s. To accomplish his goal, Ghosn
had to prove that the precious keiretsu system of Japan was promoting ... Show more content on

He is at great risk for violating Japan s cultural norm, but things like this need to be done at one
point or another within a company in order to succeed and be profitable. If he abandoned his plan
to cut jobs, he would sacrifice his goal of reducing Nissan s total costs by approximately $10
billion. If people like Carlos Ghosn do not stand up to the cultural norms of other countries,
companies like Nissan would never improve. We are moving into a world where global business is
big and there are plenty of countries now working together for one, single business, and all
participating countries must learn to cooperate for the best of the business.
3) Given Japan s culture, will the introduction of performance based compensation schemes
create any problems for Nissan in Japan? If so, what is the nature of these problems? Do you
have any suggestions for overcoming these problems? Ghosn plans to incorporate American style
compensation plans for Nissan in Japan such as stock options and bonuses based on profitability
and performance for all managerial and nonmanagerial employees. The tradition of Japan has long
been to pay strictly based on seniority, so this will bring out a lot of changes! This would bring
about some problems for Nissan in Japan because their tradition is being changed and they are
leaving their cultural norm. To help

What Is The Secret Of Prosperity
The Secret Of Prosperity The Secret of Prosperity is a very simple one. It is so simple that the
people do not realize it. Many people do a lot of work throughout the day and do not find
blessings in their work. Some people find that whatever they touch prospers. The secret is given
by the psalmist in Psalm 1: 1 3. Blessed is the man whose delight is in the Law of the Lord and in
His law he meditates day and night. It is not possible to read the Bibleday and night all the time.
But meditating in the Law of the Lord means that he should compare his thoughts, words and
deeds with the Law and commandments of the Lord always. He shall be like a tree planted by
the rivers of water which brings forth its fruit in its season. His leaf also shall not wither. People
expect the fruit of the blessings of Godthe moment they decide for the Lord. But there is a season
for bringing forth the fruit. And above all it is said, Whatsoever he doeth shall prosper (Psalm 1: 3).

He was hated by his brethren and was sold for a servant. He always feared the Lord. The Word of
God tried him all the way. The Lord was with him and he was a prosperous man. Wherever he
went he prospered in whatever he did and he became the chief responsible person whether it was
Potiphar s house or the prison or the kingdom. When the time came for him to bear fruit, he was
released from prison and was made the ruler over all of the land of Egypt overnight. The
Egyptians were ruled according to the Word of Joseph and he sustained them. The archers had
sorely grieved him, shot at him and hated him. But his bow abode in strength. He became the
shepherd and stone of Israel. All what he did prospered. Benefits Of Types And

Comparing Allah and God Essay
Pakistan, 1986. Zahid was a Muslim priest who had been brought up to hate and kill those with
conflicting beliefs, especially Christians. He often persecuted Christians in town, feeling that by
doing so, he would please Allah (the Muslim god). One day when Zahid was persecuting
Christians, someone dropped a Bible. Rather than disposing of it, as he normally would have,
Zahid hung onto it because he felt compelled to read it and expose its errors. In short, Zahid
converted to Christianity and sharedthe Bible s teachings with everyone. As a result, he was
considered a traitor. Zahid began to experience much of the persecution he had carried out against
many Christians. For two years he was imprisoned, beaten, tortured, and eventually... Show more

Take, for example, the common trait of a monotheistic god who is creator, sustainer, and ruler of
the world. Allah, like the Christian God, is seen as the most powerful being in the world; no one
even comes close to comparing to him. Similarly, no one can share power with him. Both beings
also play a role in creation they not only created the world and everything in it, but also
constantly hold it together. Many people look at these similarities and, as a result, think the two
beings are same. By looking at each in greater detail, though, the differences quickly become
obvious. (al Araby 44; Haneef 13 14, 15).
Although both Allah and the Christian God are seen as monotheistic by their followers, Muslims
see the definition of a monotheistic deity a little bit differently. Or, looking at it another way,
Muslims do not understand the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. In Christianity, God is seen as
one, but at the same time as having three distinct persons the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 28:19 says, Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. A singular name is applied to the three
persons. Because this concept is impossible to grasp in its entirety, Muslims tend to see Christians
as pluralistic (worshipers of three gods) when, in fact, they are worshiping one. To Muslims, the
concept of a triune God does not fit in

Margaret Chase Smith s Campaign Analysis
A week after Wisconsin in Illinois, Goldwater squared off against Margaret Chase Smith.
Rockefeller dared not challenge Goldwater in the conservative state, neither did anyone else of
much consequence for that matter with Lodge and Nixon still undeclared. Goldwater needed to
prove to Republicans that he could win, and Illinois, with 26 electoral votes, was a coveted prize.
Feminist groups put Smith s name on the ballot, hoping that she could elicit the kind of challenge
that made her famous when she spoke out against Senator McCarthy. For the Arizonian, her
campaign would bring a level of prestige to the race without risking a defeat, and, more
importantly, a write in victory like the one in New Hampshire would not be possible as the... Show

According to a survey conducted by the Associated Press beginning in April, Republican county
chairmen, town leaders, and other party leaders believed that Nixon would prevail to become the
party nominee at the convention. This was the third such poll taken by the AP with Goldwater
winning the first poll in October and the second in December after Kennedy s assassination caused
a sharp decline in his position. For his part, Rockefeller remained as the preferred candidate by
county leaders, but they no longer held an optimistic view of his chances. Most interesting of all,
while most respondents believed Nixon would likely win the nomination, Goldwater was the
overall preferred choice; yet, 223 of the 1,006 respondents replied no opinion to the question of
who is most likely to win the nomination. For both sides, the conservatives and the liberals, New
Hampshire did not mean much to them or so they said, though confidence in Goldwater s
campaign abilities varied based on ideology. Their concern lay in the mega primary state of
California, a winner take all contest. Till then, they would have to wait while the other primaries
captured the spotlight. As the candidates hopped from one primary to the next, the lens on the
outcome of the nomination flared in and out of focus. Lodge won New Jersey on April 21 then
Massachusetts a week later in which

The Secret of Starbucks’ Success in China
Article Review and Analysis
The Secret of Starbucks Success in China
The current event article I found tells about the successful marketing strategies that the Starbucks
Corporation takes to enter into the market of China, and simultaneously the problems and
difficulties it has in the process of market expanding. The Starbucks Corporation is the global leader
in specialty coffee consumption. Arising almost overnight from a market in Seattle, Washington,
the company today provides quality premium coffees with a superior level of customer service and
at a premium price, around the globe. Starbucks is an excellent example of a company that has
successfully embraced a differentiation focus strategy tailored to providing a high quality,... Show

In addition, due to the higher price, it completely cut off the low consumer groups, which improve
its environment level. Moreover, owing to the brand personality of the third life space , Starbucks
focus more on its service instead of the product. And the article says that the Starbucks require its
operators to identify with the idea and the brand of the corporation, and also emphasizes the
consistency of the operation, discipline and quality (Guang, 2011). Lastly, Starbucks has a unique
promotion idea according to the article, which says that it thinks in service industry, the most
important marketing channel is the branch store itself, not the advertisement (Guang, 2011).
Therefore, Starbucks does not spend lots of money on advertising, instead, it persist in training its
employees to be knowledgeable and enthusiastic, which has become a unique feature of Starbucks
promotion.
However, because Starbucks expands rapidly in the global market in order to pursue the financial
numbers, it causes a reduction of the brand value, which is one of the major problems that
Starbucks Corporation encounters in the process of expanding Chinese market. Furthermore, in
China, there is a large gap between economic strength of the large cities and small cities. Because
the price of Starbucks coffee is too high, therefore it is hard for Starbucks s market development in
the medium and small cities in China. The last major

Summary Of Long Term Memory In Mrs. Dalloway
Humans possess the feature of long term memory, which enables their past experiences to
continuously affect their contemporary lives. Though long term memory is a significant
component in the development of an individual s identity, many times this factor prevents one
from discovering opportunities to modify one s present and future lives. One s long term
memory can cause a person to revisit and enhance false emotions about one s past to ultimately
lose sense of reality. In Mrs. Dalloway, Peter Walsh and Clarissa Dalloway reflect upon their
younger selves; however, they both result in different outlets to combat these thoughts. Peter
keeps a pocket knife with him in case his past with Clarissa confronts him though he chooses to
see Clarissa. As Peter physically comes back into Clarissa s life, she is determined to change her
feelings that her long term memory provokes in her especially concerning Peter. However, Rezia
and Septimus take a different approach to dealing with their long term memories, as Rezia wants to
rekindle her pre war relationship with Septimus, which is unsuccessful. Virginia Woolfuses the
motifs of cutting and sewing simultaneously to illustrate that to find contentment in one s current
life, one must cut off one s past to be able to progress forward into a new life.
Peter plays with his pocket knife whenever he is with Clarissa to symbolize the unexplainable
emotions Peter experiences with Clarissa and his desire to remove these tensions by

Blanche Dubois Victim
In the play A Streetcar Named Desire the character of Blanche DuBois is very complex and has
many different aspects of it. Blanche DuBois a serious alcoholic has had a very simple life as
she has never had to work or have any struggles of life thrown at her till she grows up and loses
her family estate and also has her husband kill himself. In the story, she starts off with snarky
comments to her sister and her feeling like she is all that. Throughout the story her life turns
sideways as she meets a man she actually likes and not one who she just wants to sleep with.
Blanche can be looked at as a victim of the story from many sides but can also be seen as a
victimizer in some aspects. In the story Blanche is easily a victim to all the cruel acts society
has done to her. In the story she faces hardships of her life early on when her husband kills
himself after she calls him disgusting . She was never able to get over it and she said herself she
always depended on the kindness of strangers for the rest of her life onwards. She even has a
relationship with one of her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Comparing Cloning, Cryonics, And Calorie Restriction Since ancient times there has always been a debate in the field of philosophy of whether individuals continue to live after death. Although many religions believe in the concept of immortality . I believe that immortality could exist, because of cloning, cryonics, and Calorie Restriction. For hundreds of years people have been attempting to preserve and prolong life, and essentially become immortal. There are many new technologies in this time of scientific exploration and advancement that claim to do these things. There are many methods that are currently being studied as ways to either prolong life or to become immortal. All of these aspects take a different approach to man s constant search for immortality. Immortality has primarily been... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If death is an eternal oblivion then cryonics can offer an alternative and the probability, no matter how unlikely, cryonics can offer a future. Cryonics is particularly popular among people who want to be immortal . Cryonics is nothing more than an attempt of raising the dead making them alive again. Actually the word cryonics is the practice of chilling a dead body at subzero levels in the hopes of someday reviving it. Cryonics is the practice of cooling a person immediately after death to the point where the molecular physical decay completely stops, and the presumption is that scientific and medical procedures currently being created will be able to revive them and restore them to good health later. A patient held in such a state is said to be in cryonic suspension . There is reasons to believe that current cryonics procedures will preserve the anatomical basis of the mind. Cryonics became more efficient with the implementation of nanotechnology in it . The first mention of nanotech occurred in a speech given by Richard Feynman in 1959. Historically cryonic experiments started in 1962 with the publication of the prospect of immortality . The main idea of cryonics is that personality, identity, and memory are going to be stored in cellular structures in the brain. There are many paths to immortality and it seems that cryonics could be a path to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Name: Course: Tutor: Date: Love and Morality in the The Lady with the Lapdog by Anton Chekhov Introduction The Lady with the Lapdog, is a story by a Russian author Anton Chekhov. It is a story that raises eyebrows and entices the mind as one reads through to understand the actions of the two main characters, Anna and Gurov. Their actions are looked down and unspeakable according to the Russian society. Chekhov has successfully managed to show how self pleasure rise above everything in his short story. The short story revolves around love and morality as the two characters fall for one another because of their unhappy married lives. Chekhov has succeeded in bringing out love and morality as two main themes in his story. Bringing two people who are already married together and giving them the atmosphere and opportunity to love each other shows some ambiguity in his literary work. Dmitri having married his wife at a young age while still in the university didn t give him the opportunity to experience life. He loathes his wife and as a result he has many love affairs ... he considered her narrow and unintelligent. After meeting Anna and falling in love with her, he does many things out of the ordinary just to be with her. He lies to his wife that he was taking his daughter to school just to get chance to be with Anna in a hotel room. ...Gurov went to the Slaviansky Bazaar after dropping her daughter in school. He lies a second time to his wife on Christmas day that he is scheduled to attend a business trip at Saint Petersburg (Chekhov 15). He goes to see Anna and confesses his love to her. Chekhov has thus portrayed Dmitri to lack morals just because they are in love; he does things against the ways society just because of love. Anna also plays an important role in developing the themes of love and morality. She truly loves Dmitri and enjoys the quality time they spend together. Her unhappy marriage with the lackey prompts her to fall in love with Dmitri who is also unhappy in his marriage. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Maurer (2005) Sound change management theory and practice seem to cross cultural boundaries. Although the practice of change management initially developed in the United States and Western Europe, it seems to have broad applicability around the globe today. (p. 19). There are a lot of key factors that must be in place to help guide the organization through a change process and ensure that there is proper change management. Process change can sometimes be accompanied by a certain level of difficulty; Unit 1 was able to combat that with support resources available for the end users. The end users were provided with resources to help them through any issues during and after the implementation process. One of the most important strengths of Unit 1 is communication. Effective communication in this unit allowed for the give and take of information and feedback among the members of the unit. The open lines of communication allowed the end users to know if, and how, they would be affected by the change. The end users were also able to give feedback during the process, which allowed the leaders to assess progress. Although there were many strengths in Unit 1, there was some opportunity for improvement as well. Although the scores for Unit 1 were significantly higher than those of Unit 2, there they still represented gaps that Unit 1 could utilize as opportunities for growth. Based on the graphs provided, Unit 1 could improve employee participation and provide more information and training to increase confidence. Business Unit 2 had some strengths as well, such as the adequate resources to properly implement the change initiative. The leadership for this team was also very involved in the beginning, unfortunately that changed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. International Strategy. What is international strategy? An international strategy is a strategy through which the firm sells its goods or services outside its domestic market (Hill 378). One of the primary reasons for implementing an international strategy (as opposed to a strategy focused on the domestic market) is that international markets yield potential new opportunities. Raymond Vernon captured the classic rationale for international diversification (Vernon 191). He suggested that, typically, a firm discovers an innovation in its home country market, especially in an advanced economy such as that of the United States. Some demand for the product may then develop in other countries, and exports are provided by domestic operations. Increased demand in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Expected returns from the investments represent a primary predictor of firms moving into international markets. Still, firms from different countries have different expectations and use different criteria to decide whether to invest in international markets. Economies of scale, scope, and learning By expanding their markets, firms may be able to enjoy economies of scale, particularly in their manufacturing operations. To the extent that a firm can standardize its products across country borders and use the same or similar production facilities, thereby coordinating critical resource functions, it is more likely to achieve optimal economies of scale (Mauri Phatak 234). Firms may be able to exploit core competencies in international markets through resource and knowledge sharing between units across country borders (Hill 384). This sharing generates synergy, which helps the firm produce higher quality goods or services at lower cost. In addition, working across international markets provides the firm with new learning opportunities. Multinational firms have substantial occasions to learn from the different practices they encounter in separate international markets. Even firms based in developed markets can learn from operations in emerging markets. A different instrument section played each segment of the performance, including: horn ensemble, string ensemble, bassoonists, percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, the Linux Laptop Orchestra, Kinect sensor and computer, and male and female choirs. This exposition was held in order to benefit the performing arts scholarship program at Virginia Tech, but it seemed that the performance had the goal of showing off the individual ensemble s talents, and, in the end, combining those talents. Growing up in the Appalachians, I have had plenty of experience with bluegrass and folk, and the wide range of the culture that has had influences on the music. However, there is an emerging trend towards researches about the new paths of capability accumulation these two countries have followed. SAIC SAIC was founded as state owned enterprise (SOE) under the direct control of the Shanghai municipality. The company produced its first passenger vehicle in 1959, a reversed engineered imitation based on the Mercedes 220s of 1956 targeting elite public officials (Nam, 2015). Between 1970 and the 1980s SAIC achieved an annual production volume of 3000 5000 units, which was sufficient to reach the market leadership in China due to the general repression of sedans. Yet, the car manufacturer was unable to strengthen its extremely weak technological capabilities. In order to do so, a joint venture between Volkswagen (VW) and SAIC, SVW, was founded in 1985 providing market access to VW and learning opportunities for SAIC. According to Thun, the Chinese manufacturer was operating with decrepit assembly plants, outdated equipment based on highly labor intensive procedures. Furthermore, it was embedded in an unfavorable environment lacking competitiveness and supplier (Thun, 2006). The government of Shanghai initiated a localization drive through tax methods, subsidized credits and monitoring (Nam, 2015). Nevertheless, it supported SVW through relaxed foreign exchange constraints and put effort into solving the problem of lacking suppliers (Nam, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are not appreciating living in the moment and instead are rushing around, not making timefor the things they should be. If people are determined to get work done, they will soon take actions they wish hadn t occurred. In 1946, an astrophysicist named Dr. Lyman Spitzer proposed that a telescope in space would reveal better and clearer images that are even far from earth than any ground telescope. This idea was very extravagant because no one had yet launched a rocket into outer space. As the US space program excelled quickly over the early years, Spitzer lobbied NASA and Congress to develop a space telescope. Emmett was a young boy from Chicago, who in August 1955 hopped onto a train with his uncle and cousin to visit their family in Money, Mississippi. On his third day in Mississippi, Till visited a local grocery store with a group of teenagers. Inside the store he bought bubblegum and was accused of either whistling at, flirting with, or touching the hand of the store s clerk, Carolyn Bryant. • 14. The Absence Of Effective Birth Control Essay INTRODUCTON The absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940. Up until the arrival of the contraceptive pill in the early 1960 s, New Zealand, predominantly women, but also men struggled to acquire effective and reliable birth control. There were many reasons why birth control was limited and frowned upon in New Zealand for over half of the twentieth century, including, religion, the social expectation of women, and the desire for a large population in New Zealand. Many women advocated for the introduction of an effective form of birth control in New Zealand for a number of years before becoming successful in 1961. The women s main argument during their fight for contraception availability in New Zealand, was that abortion would be rare if the introduction of a reliable contraceptive method were to happen. In this essay, I will argue that the absence of effective birth control led women to resort to abortion between 1900 and 1940 by first analysing the attitudes of society during this era, particularly towards women and contraception, I will then examine the methods women were resorting to in order to prevent pregnancy, finally, I will discuss the regular occurrence of abortions during the first half of the twentieth century and how birth control lays a factor in this. Concluding with, the absence of effective birth control did in fact lead women to resort to abortion from 1900 to 1940. NEW ZEALAND SOCIETY BETWEEN 1900 AND 1940 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Women involved in street prostitution are subjected to routine violence and in the last 7 years, there have been unresolved murders and suspicious deaths, (Women s Support Project 2001). Historically, policing practices have been heavy handed and local government has sought to limit the spread of indoor prostitution. This is in contrast to the population of indoor prostitution in Edinburgh, which is approximately (90%) with only around 50 women involved in street prostitution, the proportion of intravenous drug users is also reportedly lower (Mackay, F Schaap, A 2000). In England and Wales between 1989 and 1995 there were 1,700 convictions of young people under 18 for offences relating to prostitution with a further 2,300 cautions issued. It was within this same period that there was a 40% increase in the number of recorded cases, which involved children aged 16 or under, (Mackay, F Schaap, A 2000). This has lead to the publication of national guidelines on the safeguarding of children involved in street prostitution in England and Wales (Department of Health, 2000). Managers should allow people the autonomy of reacting, working through, and coping with a layoff in their own way. There are many benefits both at an individual level as well as at state level for people to be multilingual. Firstly, knowing multiple languages helps us to adapt into and interact in this globalised world we live in. Secondly, being able to express ourselves in a languagewe identify ourselves most with, and have the strongest knowledge of, is a human right. It is important to make a distinction between a national language and an official language before discussing any further. National language is a language associated with a particular country where it is recognised as a symbol of national identity (Joan Swann, 2004) whereas an official language can be defined as a language which is used for political, legal and administrative communications within a given political territory. There also arose a gesticulator whose purpose was to illustrate, with pantomimic gestures, what the actor tragedian was singing. Due to the clashing of Chinese and American cultures, there are multiple incidents of conflict between MeiMei and her mother. A key example of such an incident is when MeiMei is forced to accompany her mother to the Saturday market. According to the text, MeiMei s mother would proudly walk with MeiMei and tell everyone who looked towards them that MeiMei was her daughter. MeiMei then told her mom if she could stop telling everyone who looked their way that MeiMei was her daughter. Her mother misunderstood what MeiMei said, thinking that MeiMei was ashamed of walking with her. This then caused MeiMei to tell her mother, If you wantto show me off, then why don t you learn to play chess. When MeiMei had realized that what she said was wrong, she ran away from her mother. To MeiMei, her mother going around and telling everyone that MeiMei was her daughter was embarrassing because she didn t want her mom to use her as a source to gain popularity. In MeiMei s beliefs, her chess victories were her own accomplishments, one she should be the only one to use since she feels as though she gained them on her own. Her mother on the other hand, sees MeiMei s achievements as a victory for the whole familyand is proud of her daughter. MeiMei misunderstands this, thinking her mother was just crediting herself for MeiMei s work and so runs off. This clash in values caused this incident. MeiMei s escape from her mother leads to a new conflict of MeiMei running away from her mom. Many people do a lot of work throughout the day and do not find blessings in their work. Some people find that whatever they touch prospers. The secret is given by the psalmist in Psalm 1: 1 3. Blessed is the man whose delight is in the Law of the Lord and in His law he meditates day and night. It is not possible to read the Bibleday and night all the time. But meditating in the Law of the Lord means that he should compare his thoughts, words and deeds with the Law and commandments of the Lord always. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water which brings forth its fruit in its season. His leaf also shall not wither. Allah, like the Christian God, is seen as the most powerful being in the world; no one even comes close to comparing to him. Similarly, no one can share power with him. Both beings also play a role in creation they not only created the world and everything in it, but also constantly hold it together. Many people look at these similarities and, as a result, think the two beings are same. By looking at each in greater detail, though, the differences quickly become obvious. (al Araby 44; Haneef 13 14, 15). Although both Allah and the Christian God are seen as monotheistic by their followers, Muslims see the definition of a monotheistic deity a little bit differently. Or, looking at it another way, Muslims do not understand the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. In Christianity, God is seen as one, but at the same time as having three distinct persons the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:19 says, Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. A singular name is applied to the three persons. For his part, Rockefeller remained as the preferred candidate by county leaders, but they no longer held an optimistic view of his chances.
