Today, its vital role in commercial banking activities lie in the direct effect it has on total economic
growth and business development. Every year the (CBN) central bank of Nigeria being the
monetary authority that is solely responsible for the insurance of guidelines policies and the
interpretation of such, comes up with economic measure roles and regulation under which the bank
in the country operate. Such policies direct the use of funds from depositors, stockholders, and
creditors in order to control the size of loan portfolio thereby determining the general
circumstances under which it is appropriate to make an advance. The monetary policies also aim at
aiding the banks to maintain a sound financial and banking system promote confidence in
sustenance of reasonable banking services for public as well as ensuring a high standard of
conduct and professionalism in banking industry. These rules and regulations are contained in
monetary policy circular being issued by the central bank at the beginning of every year.
The techniques of monetary policies could be broadly divided into two namely:
Direct and Indirect.

A Comparison Of The Conflict Between Israel And Palestine
Conflict between Israel and Palestine has led to wars, injuries, and massacres. These two countries
have argued and fought for decades, ever since 1917. Both countries have been through many tough
moments and bombings. The major disagreement is the fact that both countries fight over land.
Each side of argument has a right and wrong effect. In recent events, the number of stabbings have
been increased by the month, and has been seen, as an organized terror attack.
The most ancient conflict in the Middle East is between the state of Israel, and the Palestinian
authority. This conflict is actually easy to explain, but hard to solve. If you really want to dive in,
and better understand the core of the problem, we need to go back in time, to about 1917, when the
British government ruled the area, and decided to support the establishment in Palestine of a
national home for the Jewish people. As result, Jews from Europe immediately began to immigrate
to Israel. As a reaction, Arabs demanded to stop the Jewish immigration, and later started to attack
Israeli towns. Arabs wanted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of Palestine s leaders, Mahmoud Abbas does not have a lot of supporters that favor him. He
s seen as a useless and ineffective with having a poor influence on Israel. He wants the intensity of
the conflict to abate, but other Palestinian leaders don t seem willing to follow his lead. A
politician from Palestine told them, stop stuttering and start acting. , meaning that no one should
let the violence continue but to put an end to it. Even though there have been a recent attack of
stabbings, that is only a select few but the majority of Palestinians are good and try to solve the
problems between the Israelis and Palestinians. The Palestinians have had many issues with the
Israelites but are now working to solve the problems so they both do not have any more wars or

determining if you are now eligible for a green card. The immigration visa USA green card is
sought after by many people. Having permanent resident status or receiving a green card, is the first
step to establishing citizenship in the United States.
The Green Card Lottery
This is the opportunity for anyone from an eligible country to receive a green card. The purpose
of the diversity lottery, (green card lottery) is to allow citizens from countries not well
represented in the U.S., the opportunity to receive a green card. However, only a small percentage
of all applicants in the green card lottery win and receive a green card.

Often the easiest way to obtain a green card, is through a direct family member. An applicant may
petition to be allowed to live in the United States, if the applicant can prove they are directly
related to a United States citizen. Some examples are:

Pros And Cons Of Conversion Therapy
Terror doesn t change people from gay to straight. It just hurts innocent people, DaShanne Stokes, a
recognized thought leader, sociologist, author, and speaker, on conversion therapy. Conversion
therapy is a pseudoscientific practice that encompasses psychological or spiritual interventions to
try and change an individual s, usually a minor s, sexual orientation. It has been highly discredited
and criticized by all major American medical and psychological organizations and even, in 2001,
the United States Surgeon General David Satcher, stated that there was no valid scientific
evidence that sexual orientation can be changed . However, conversion therapy still occurs in the
United States. This paper looks to examine Ferguson v. JONAH, a case credited as the first of its
kind , it s ruling, and the effect it could have on future cases.
To begin with, Jews Offering New Alternatives for Homosexuality, also known as JONAH, was
established in New Jersey by Elaine and Theodore Berk and Jane and Arthur Goldberg in 1999.
They created the organization when the families learned their sons were homosexual. In 2010,
surround by controversy, the organization changed its name to Jews Offering New Alternatives for
Healing. Despite the name change, JONAH s main goal stayed the same, to help in educating the
world wide Jewish community about the social, cultural and emotional factors which lead to same

Thw Cold War Essay
The Cold War as it is called was a war that started because of tensions between the United States
and its allies and the Soviet Union and its allies. The tensions that developed were primarily over
military, political, cultural and social ideas that varied greatly between the two nations. Each Nation
and its allies developed a distrust that would last for many years and introduce new military and
political methods that would shape our future.
The Cold Warwas not a war as we would think with destruction and loss of life. What the Cold War
became was distrust between Nations that caused conflict and tension between these nations. The
two major countries involved in the conflict were the United States and the Soviet Union. Both of

Stalin thought the USA and Britain had not helped the USSR enough in World War II. They
charged the United States with practicing imperialism and attempting to stop revolutionary
activity in other countries. Both nations were somewhat correct in their fears. The United States
was trying to encourage Capitalism, and the Soviet Union was trying to spread communism, but
they both believed it was the politically, socially and militarily correct thing to do. Because of
these strong beliefs the tensions between the two nations grew stronger, and negotiations grew
further apart. The tensions between what was often referred to as the West (United States) and
the East (Soviet Union) grew stronger. Espionage, spying and the development of nuclear
weapons was on the rise. Each nation was counter acting each others moves to be stronger and
stay ahead of the other in the field of military operations. Propaganda was on the rise to raise
awareness of the others actions and build encouragement for their respective views. The distrust
that was developing was growing stronger as the war carried on. However, each nation knew that
a real war involving the loss of men and destruction of property was not a solution. Both the United
States and the Soviet Union were equally strong, some with large armies and others with weapons
of mass destruction. Each nation was trying to match or overtake the other in both these areas

Primark specialise in low prices. Please note that when I say low, what I really mean is
INCREDIBLY LOW. A ladies fashion belt for В

getting the idea. In order for Primark to make a decent enough profit after paying its work force
and all its other expenses at these sorts of prices, it needs to sell sheer volume. Bulk sales, in
more confined terms. In their method of bulk selling lie several advantages and several
disadvantages but be well aware from the start that Primark is not about high price and top
notch quality. It is about slightly low but still reasonable quality for a very very low price. V IS
FOR VALUE So what is Primark like as a store then? (I hear you ask). Well as aforementioned,
Primark sell at low prices and therefore sell in bulk (do remember this point because it will be
returned to later). The quality of their stock is by no means anywhere near the best on the high
street. You will find better in Marks and Spencer, BHS or Debenhams for example, no question.
However, it s not always all about quality it s also about value

Compare And Contrast Casey At The Bat
In the poem ВЁCasey at the BatВЁ and Bible story ВЁDavid and GoliathВЁ the characters
David and Casey have many similarities and differences. The first way that they are similar is
they were both faced with big problems. David s big problem was that he had to face a giant, in
the Bible it says, 4 The Philistine army had a hero named Goliathwho was from the town of Gath
and was over nine feet tall. 5 He wore a bronze helmet and had bronze armor to protect his chest
and legs. The chest armor alone weighed about one hundred twenty five pounds. He carried a
bronze sword strapped on his back, 7 and his spear was so big that the iron spearhead alone
weighed more than fifteen pounds. A soldier always walked in front of Goliath to carry his shield.

In the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon, Christopher, the
main character, went on a quest to reveal the killer of Wellington, his neighbors dog. He soon
becomes consumed with curiosity towards who killed Wellington and what the killer s motives
were. Against his father s will, he begins to compose a murder mystery novel. Throughout the book,
he had many interactions and those interactions change the character of Christopher by making him
more independent. Characters such as his father, Mrs. Alexander and numerous police officers
helped him become more independent, and more comfortable interacting with other people. An
example proving that his interactions with other characters improved, would be Mrs. Alexander. In
the beginning of the novel, Christopher was very shy towards her making their conversations very
brief and business oriented. A conversation on page 39 went, We haven t talked before, have we.

Cultural Artifacts In The Wizard Of Oz
Cultural Artifacts
My first work is the American film, The Wizard of Oz, directed by Viktor Fleming. The film was
released in 1939 and is also a musical. The screenplay was written by Noel Langley, Florence
Ryerson, and Edgar Allan Woolf. The music was written and composed by Herbert Rosson. The
film is based on the book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum. It is set at the
turn of the 20th century in Kansas and then in the Land of Oz. My second work is the book, The
Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, written by the English writer, C.S. Lewis and published in
1950. It is the Scholastic edition from 1995. The book is set during World War Two in the English
country side and then then magical world of Narnia where time is different and therefore cannot be
compared to any time period of the real world.
Common Theme
The common theme I will be exploring is Good vs. Evil . The theme is expressed in The Wizard of
Oz throughout the movie through the use of the antagonist, the Wicked Witch of the West
pursuing the main character, Dorothy, for the shoes she wears (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). The
Wicked Witch wants the shoes for herself because they hold great power, but also because they
belonged to her sister, The Wicked Witch of the East (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). However, Glinda
The Good Witch of the North, gifts them to Dorothy after she traveled to Oz, in her house and
through a cyclone (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). The house landed on the Wicked Witch of the East and

experience that Riley wanted to share with people, in the way of his general appreciation that
New York city has given to him. For six weekends at the Brooklyn Navy Yard more than 2,000
pigeons were put on an avian powered light show and hundreds of tiny lights shot up (Newman,

Regulating Drugs Market
Regulated Market for Illegal Drugs
Drugs are a medicine or substance that has physiological effect. They can be used as a
medication, or for recreational, and even spiritual and religious use. Some drugs can be a great
thing, like the ones used to treat simple pains like headaches to things like deadly diseases to
ease a person s pain or even cure the disease. Drugs that can have a detrimental effect on a person
s health or welfare are considered a controlled substance. This means that these drugs are regulated
by the state and federal governments. Meaning if a person caught with a controlled substance they
can be fined or and even put in jail. Not all controlled substances are illegal, some are prescribed to
the general public from pharmacies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing this the governments created the prohibition laws. Based on wikipedia the prohibition of
drugs through sumptuary legislation (laws that attempted to regulate consumption) and religious
laws (ethical and moral codes taught by religious traditions) is a common means of attempting to
prevent the recreational use of certain recreational drugs and other intoxicating substances.
Activities that governments looked at as undesirable were put into prohibition. Theses included
smoking, drinking, gambling, drugs, and prostitution. These prohibitions led to criminal
underworlds battling against police states, in which the public never benefited from. During the
prohibition of alcohol in the years of 1920 1933 even though the consumption and the sale of
alcohol was illegal it was still being made, but the quality of the liquor was not that good and
people ended up with methanol poisoning which led to blindness and even death. There was
also a story of how the U.S. government poisoned alcohols intended for industrial use killing an
estimate of 10,000 people. The global war on drugs endorsed by the United Nations is 55 years
old. Early anti narcotic laws emerged in the 19th century to control the trade in opium and later
more drugs that people used and abused as a medicine or for recreational use. Count the Cost is a

Why Has the Industrialization in the Nineteenth Century...
Napoleon Bonaparte s main aim is to keep himself in power by using social, economic, and
political means. Napoleon attempts to maintain his power through social policies. The Concordat
of 1801 is an agreement between the Pope and Napoleon which allows for the Catholic Churches
to return to France. This is significant because it allows for Napoleon to not only win over the
people of France by returning their religion to them, but the agreement also gives Napoleon easy
access to spreading propaganda. With the help of the church, Napoleon can also promote
conscription and increase the size of his army in order to maintain his control over a majority of

Symbolism In Keats s Ode To A Nightingale
Torn between two worlds, Keats battled his own personal life between his engagement to Fanny
Browne and the death of his brother. Also the poem was written approximately two years before
he died. These life changing events resulted in Keats writing one of his most famous poems, Ode
to a Nightingale. This poem is an escape from reality in trying to find a happy place such as the
singing of the Nightingale(Fiero 9). The poem is a parallel to Keats thoughts and desires, which are
directly connected to his reasoning for writing the poem, its connections to understanding nature as
well as its reflection of the human consciousnessand natural environment.
Ironically the bird in the poem is used as a symbol, whereas the bird that inspired the poem was a
real living creature. According to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the themes in Keats poem Ode to a Nightingale is reality verses imaginary (Melani). In
the beginning of the poem, the bird is tangible, allowing Keats to hear its pleasant song. As the
poem develops the bird becomes a symbol. The bird can represent joy, self expressions and nature
s music. One concern in the poem is Keats analysis on the divided nature of humans. This includes
mixed feelings of pain verses happiness, feeling verses dullness, real verses ideal and mortal verses
immortal. As the poem continues to build on emotion based on human nature, the reader is able to
draw conclusions and different abstractions (Melani). In this poem there is an overpowering theme
directly related to romanticism, the bird representing nature and immortality while on the flip side
Keats representing a worldly state of mind trying to capture the essence of the nightingale by
listening to the song. Art is more than a response to the human experience of love and nature; it is
the transmuted product of the imagination, a higher form of nature that triumphantly outreaches the
mortal lifespan (Fiero

Sidewinder Snakes
Dr. Joseph Mendelson from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Atlanta Zoo presented his
research on the mechanism used by sidewinder snakes for locomotion on sand with the
implementation of a robot snake as a model system. The research study involved the collaboration
of the physics, engineering and biology departments to further understand the nature of snake
movements. Sidewinders are snakes that are able to move on sand at different inclinations because
they do not slither but rather employ a different mechanism of movement. Dr. Mendelson was able
to determine that the robot snake which mimics a snake that slithers is unable to move on sand
with an inclination greater than zero degrees. The research involved the use of a sandbox which...

From the observations of snakes in nature, the results showed that their locomotion is truly
optimized based on their repeated operations being maintained in an effective zone. The robot
snake was manipulated with different durations and amounts of lifts and contacts that would vary,
but be maintained in the ineffective zone due to the failed movement on sand. Another research
study involved the examination of the mechanisms employed by sidewinders for turning in a
different direction of movement. The results suggested that sidewinders change directions
horizontally or vertically by changing the angle of their head. An analysis of the robot snake
demonstrated an unobservable locomotion that it is possible to move in both a horizontal and
vertical wave movement on the sand in order to change directions via a differential or reversal
turning locomotion. Through the investigation of these research studies, Dr. Mendelson and his
co researchers were able to discover that in effect sidewinders suffer a cost of being able to
implement a different locomotion on inclinations of sand. Sidewinders are not able to avoid
obstacles as easily as snakes that slither which can just turn their heads in a slight angle away
from the obstacle in order to avoid it. The results showed that the reason for this cost is due to the
mechanism that sidewinders use for which the head does not reach the obstacle first to avoid the
obstacle beforehand instead of being tangled by it with their body. A study that is currently being
conducted involves the investigation of the interface between a floor substrate and the skin of a

Will The Yeast Fermentation Of Yeast Fermentation Of Glucose
Will the rate of yeast fermentation of glucose increase as pH levels increase? To test this, 4 trials of
two pH level solutions were prepared in order to obtain an average amount of CO2 produced.
Twelve mL of yeast, 12 mL of glucose, and 4 mL of either a pH 2 solution or pH 10 solution were
prepared in eight beakers, 4 per pH, and then poured into a flask, where the rate of fermentation was
then measured in millimeters every 2 minutes for a total of 20 minutes. It was hypothesized that the
rate of yeastfermentation of glucose would increase as pH increased. Our data results from the 8
flasks showed no statistical significance between yeast fermentation of glucose in a pH of 2 or pH
of 10 solution. Using the final CO2 production level measured after 20 minutes, a t Test assuming
equal variances was performed which supported our observations of no significant difference in the
rate of yeast fermentation, which led us to accept our null hypothesis stating that a change in pH
would have no effect on the rate of yeast fermentation of glucose.

A strategic alliance is defined as where two or more independent organisations set up a co operative

involve JT Toys aligning itself with a pre existing Chinese manufacturing company, and using each
other s strengths for a mutual advantage. The Chinese company could produce toys with their
cheaper labour and production costs, while using the established brand of JT Toys, as well as their
vision and successful standing in the Australian market.

Why The Rich Are Getting Richer And Poor By Robert Reich...
Robert Reich was Secretary of Labor under the Clinton administration, and, currently, he is

editor of the American Prospect magazine. In one of his most prominent articles Why the Rich

and the disappearance of restrictions have widened the gap between social classes. In the opening
of his article, Robert Reich discusses how a person s economic status within a nation is
determined by the function that person performs, but he then goes off to say that in earlier times
economic status fluctuated and could be influenced by the workers. According to Reich, the

Gender Roles Of A Young Girl Saving China From The Huns
Within Disney s Mulan, gender roles, linguistic differences, and racial concepts play a substantial
role in telling the story of a young girl saving China from the Huns. At first glance, while the film
may utilize an innocent plotline typically geared for young children, stereotypes and racist themes
abound, prompting the question of how much of the movie is authentic, and how much of the film
is the American perspective on Chinese culture. After an anthropological analysis of the film, it is
seen that the genderstereotypes, use of accents, and racial differences not only assist the
characterization of what is Chinese , but also provide the audience identification and relatability
to the protagonist. Primarily, the protagonist Fa Mulan s struggle against idealizations on females
in Chinese society bring attention to the crucial unit of gender roles in anthropology. The story of
Mulan centers around her fighting attempts to bring honor to her family a problem that is faced
by both males and females. For men, they have a chance to honor their family name by going to
war and fighting for the country. On the other hand, women are expected to prove their worth
through marriage. This is seen in the Fa family s importance on the Matchmaker day in the
beginning of the movie, and Mulan s tedious preparations for pleasing the matchmaker in order to
find a good spouse. However, women have to fit certain standards in order to please society and

Hamlet What Is the Appeal to the 21 Century Audience
As people in the twenty first century generally don t believe in ghosts and don t consider revenge
a duty, why is a play like Hamlet still of interest to film and theatre audiences?
As William Shakespeare began writing Hamlet in 1598 at the end of the 16th century the play
which would go on to become one of his most famous pieces of work was geared towards an
audience of churls , groundlings and the less educated members of theatre going society, just as
equally as the more educated and affluent audience members. Theatre being a relatively affordable
and popular form of entertainment for the less wealthy individuals, Shakespeare would cater as
much to their tastes as he would to the higher society who would attend his plays. A ... Show more

When you consider that he was following the instructions of his father s ghost it becomes even
more blurred. It was the ghost which created the fire inside Hamlet, the desire for revenge but also
the need for revenge as a duty, to his murdered father. The ghost, however, has been the subject of
much debate amongst critics and readers of Hamlet, with the controversy surrounding whether the
ghost is real as a physical element of the play, or whether it exists simply in the mind of Hamlet.
The play opens with Horatio and various watchmen alarmed that they have seen a ghostly presence,
although we don t know for sure that they have actually seen the purported ghost of the former
King. This could indicate that what they saw wasn t actually a ghost, and further evidence to
suggest this could be found in the scene in which Hamlet sees the ghost but Gertrude cannot see
him (Act III, Scene IV).
Some critics, such as Jan Pick, argue that the appearance of the ghost as an actual element of the
play is simply to encourage the audience to accept Hamlet as a rational human being rather than an
insane character; the inclusion of the ghost as somebody the audience (if not the other characters)
can see lends an air of authenticity to the ghost scenes, authenticity which can only exist to a
modern audience in the assumption that Hamlet actually is insane, and imagining the ghost. Still,
this scenario leads the viewer down a different but

Teachers spend time on the memorization of specific words that will be on the state test, not

Many high school students do not even take these tests seriously because many of them are at the
same intellectual level as adults and realize that the tests are flawed. Still, they might not consider
that these flawed tests might lessen their chances of getting into college. Certainly, one could
envision a system of standardized tests where learning is at the center.
These tests are biased and prefer certain groups over others, making them unfair and denying equal
opportunity for education. Minority and low income students are affected far more than middle
class, majority students. In fact, if the government persists in making a student s graduation rest
on a single test, the result over the next few years could be a scenario that might be described as
an educational ethnic cleansing (Kohn, 2000). It is unfair to base a school s funding on these tests
when clearly any underperforming schools would benefit greater from an increase of resources as
opposed to schools that perform at a higher level. Every year 1.2 million students fail to graduate
from high school based on their test scores and therefore, cost the Nation more than $3.1 million in
lost wages, taxes, and productivity over their lifetimes (Congress, 2011). It has taken some time for
educators and parents to realize that the idiom of standards is turning schools into test prep centers,
effectively undermining enthusiasm for learning and teaching.

The issue of this is that the inmates are not in the right state of mind to survive in a jail and
therefore look for ways to get out of it by killing themselves or others. When things like fights

are full of people with mental illnesses we are not helping them get better, we are letting them
basically kill themselves and not care for their well being. It is easy to see that the problem is
the lack of unberstany of mental illness because we live in a society that does not help other

The land was donated and so was the labor. Many of the materials were recycled from the ruins
created by the war (Source, 0000).
While there is no fixed curriculum or one specific model to emulate, the Reggio Emilia approach
does have some essential components, some fundamental ideas about how children learn most
effectively. The utmost is the idea that the young child is inherently competent not only as a learner
but as an initiator. The child has preferences and opinions that have value and should be listened to
with respect and care, knowing that they have much to offer their classroom community and
community at large. This pedagogy plays a large role in shaping the Reggio classroom. It allows the
children to pursue projects which are interesting and meaningful and then allowing adequate time to
follow those projects with passion.
The Reggio Emilia approach is an emergent curriculum because it is developed and shaped by the
interests of the child, through negotiations between the child, parents and teachers. This is done in
a Reggio classroom by in large and small group projects in which the children engage. The projects
involve planning, hands on activities, research, and representation through a variety of visual
media. The observant teacher collects documentation which is a vital component of the Reggio
philosophy in the form of written anecdotes, samples of children s work, photographs and videos.

Lanzarote Research Paper
Located just miles 78 miles off the coast of Africa, the Canary Islands have for the past ten years
been slowly moving away from the beachside hotel apartment blocks. No more Magaluf madness
or Ibiza house music as the chic new hotels turn away from the full English breakfast crowd.
Today the Canaries are interested in promoting themselves as a chic winter escape with a healthy
eco friendly image where tourists come to hike, cycle and surf, rather than to party into the night
and recover the next day while lying on the beach. Leading the way in this new way of thinking is
the easternmost Island of Lanzarote, a volcanic playground created just over 300 years ago when

Surfing has taken off in a big way recently, and thanks to the uninterrupted Atlantic swells and
constant trade winds that produce big waves; the east coast of Lanzarote is now being called the
Hawaii of Europe. Cross Country Mountain biking on Lanzarote is something you cannot
experience anywhere else in Europe as you weave you way between lava rocks and craters that
have been left over from the islands fiery past. Diving is popular in Lanzarote particularly along
the south east coast where it is possible to access some of the main sites directly from the beach.
This ease of access and the fact you do not need a boat makes Lanzarote one of the best places
you can go to obtain your PADI certificate. Sports fishing in the Canaries has long been a popular
activity in Lanzarote as you do not have to go far from port to have the chance of landing a large
Marlin or migrating Tuna. The best time of year to land a top game fish is June through September
as the fish pass by the island on their way to their winter feeding grounds in the

Meerkats
Meerkats: Standing Tall
Steven Fetherolf
Strayer University
Introduction
Standing tall, the small animal scans the sky for predators, his neck extended and head swiveling
side to side, ever diligent in the search for anything that may prove a threat to his group of fellow
meerkats. At his fullest height, he barely reaches 12 , the average of an adult male in his species.
What is this strange animal, looking similar to a mongoose or an elongated squirrel and sporting
black bandit markings around its eyes that are vaguely reminiscent of a raccoon? What does anyone
know of this incongruous, oft overlooked creature, whose comparable significance to more exotic
animals is virtually unknown? If you have watched the television channel ... Show more content on

This tolerance to venom ensures that the meerkat has little competition for its diet and further
allows them to maintain a steady, plentiful supply. Due to the harsh, water scarce deserts in which
meerkats live, finding adequate water supplies is nearly impossible and when present, water is
dominated by larger animals that consider meerkats to be a meal. Therefore, the meerkat must make
use of available moisture and obtains its requirements primarily through its diet.
It has been observed that a gang of meerkats will inhabit underground burrows consisting of
numerous entrance and exit holes, multiple sleeping and birthing chambers, and having
hundreds of feet of tunnels branching off in several directions, which give them the ability to
escape predators who invade their homes. An average gang s burrow may have well over fifteen
separate dens and it should be noted that the number of areas provide them the opportunity to
rotate their use every three to four weeks. This rotation is a result of parasite (ticks, ants, fleas)
overload, making living conditions both unsafe and unsanitary. Once the parasitic levels have
reached a reasonable level, meerkats will re inhabit the dens. At least one chamber within the
burrow is reserved as a bathroom, or litter box, serving as a safe place for relief of bodily functions.
It is extremely unsafe for a meerkat to exit the burrow at night to relieve themselves, so having a

The definition of cooperative cooking varies but the general idea is to organize a group of
people who each cook a large meal big enough to feed all the families in the group. The meal is
divided into shares, one going into your refrigerator and the rest given to the other members of
the group. For a group of three, for just cooking one meal, the family gets to eat three meals,
which could stretch to last even longer. Participants often set guidelines with regard to price and
ingredients, and include instructions on how to cook or reheat the already assembled meals.
Cooking in bulk can lead to buying in bulk when it is on sale, which saves money and cuts down
on wasteful packaging and trips to the store. If there is food ready in your fridge you will be less
likely to be tempted by expensive fast food that has many negative impacts on our body and
planetary health. Other food sharing systems such as a potluck, where each member brings in a
dish to eat together on a specific day, are already familiar to many of us as a special event, and are
being utilized at less formal dinner tables everywhere. Groups may also take turns hosting a meal
for everyone to enjoy. If you don t have a group to cook with, consider the lost art of

The Prevalence Of Autonomic Dysfunction And Fac Tors...
DISCUSSION
This study was performed to assess the prevalence of autonomic dysfunction, and fac tors affecting
CAN. The study included 56 eligible participants with T2DM. Our study reveals that a significant
proportion of patients with T2DM have CAN. Study found that overall 85% of persons with
T2DM have CAN (combined early and definite CAN). Mean fasting blood glucose and BMI were
significantly associated with CAN in type 2 DM. Parasympathetic involvement was more than
sympathetic involvement. Out of all tests performed, heart rate response to standing (EI ratio) and
deep breathing (30:15 ratio) were the most common test affected in our study population.
S. Aggarwal et al [41] in their study on 50 patients with non cardiac Diabetes Mellitus had
demonstrated 70% of patients were tested positive for autonomic dysfunction, however our
study reports 85% patient to have autonomic dysfunction. In our study , 8(14%)had no CAN, 24
(42%) had early CAN, and 24 (42%) had definite CAN. A study by Angadi sumaswi et al [42], 32%
(16) patients had no CAN. Early CAN was seen in 14% (7), severe CAN in 14% (7), definite CAN
in 8% (4) patients. Atypical CAN with other combination of abnormalities was seen in 32% (16)
patients. Various studies shows different prevalence of CAN ranging from 58% to 70 % [43 45].
The most common abnormality observed was heart rate response to standing(68%), followed by

Essay on Stem-Cell Research and the Media
Stem Cell Research and the Media
Biomedical technology is getting much press due to the stem cell debate. A controversial topic in
itself, with the President of the United States taking a stand on the issue for funding purposes, the
topic has received even more press over the consequences resulting from President Bush s decision.
With the President s approval rating well over 80 percent since the September 11th attack, those
who contest any of his decisions have been receiving feelings of anger from those who support
him. I, however, would like to take a stand and contest Bush s decision to limit the stem cell
research funding. This paper presents two articles that examine Bush s decision in different ways;
one looks at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Readers of this article probably differ in their familiarity with Bush s decision; some already know
about President Bush s decision to limit the funding of the research, and thus Begley found no
reason to bring up the President s decision because many people have very strong opinions about
the decision. Other readers, however, may not have previously known the actual funding limits
created by Bush. Begley does not try to convey Bush s decision in this article, only to discuss the
future research effects of this decision and announcement.
In a way, Begley is trying to sell to the audience on the idea that 64 lines is not enough, thus taking
a stand against Bush s decision to limit the federal funding of stem cell research to the number of
colonies currently in existence. While Begley s words do not imply any direct disagreement with
Bush s limit, she would have taken a different approach and used different quotations if the
purpose of this article were to commend the president s decision that 64 lines are enough. In such a
case, Begley would not have ended her article with 64 might not be 64 after all, but rather a
quotation that suggests the potential power of the 64 lines.
Begley s article attempts to immerse the reader in the stem cell debate. A strong part of this

The Current Banking Industry Environment Essay
Our analysis explores the current banking industry environment. This industry contains banks that
provide loans and other financial services to their clients that include commercial and business
clients and individual consumers. We looked at strengths and weaknesses to assess the strongest
US banks and what makes them successful. We focused on opportunities in the banking industry,
the rise in mobile banking technology, better customer service, and capitalizing on the rising need
for home loans to underserved consumers. Additionally, the banking industry faces threats
including regulatory issues, cyber risks, and future devaluation of the dollar. Expansion to new
markets and innovations were also analyzed. We included strengths and weaknesses of the top four
banks, though we ignored the internal analysis on the US banking industry as it is not possible to
adequately analyze an aggregated industry of banks and this is a firm level analysis.
We used databases such as Mergent Online, Business Source Complete, IBISWorld, Mintel
Academic and others to guide us to the necessary research.
Strengths and Weaknesses According to IBISworld, the top four public banks by market share, as
shown in the chart above, are Wells Fargo Company, JP Morgan Chase Co., Bankof America, and
Citigroup. (Hoffman, 2016)Since this is an industry report and an external analysis, it would not be
possible to analyze a whole category of business internally as every business is different.

Grigori Rasputin s Influence On Russia
Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin, Russia s greatest man in the Early 1900 s. He accomplished many
things in his lifetime, including a good relation with the king of Russia. For this research paper,
we will be going over these topics: his early life, his relations with the Czar of Russia and his
death and afterlife. He was, in short, an astounding man to all. His beginning was like no other.
Grigori Rasputinwas born on January 10th, 1869 in Pokrovskoye, Russiawith his father, Efim
Rasputin. His village, being in the middle of almost nowhere and around 1650 miles to the
capital of Russia at the time of his birth, had little education. What was there was poor and untrue
to certain standards, so he never learned to properly read and write on his own. His brother, who
is only known by Grigori s journals, had died in a cold river around 1877. After these events,
Rasputin became very withdrawn. Some say that this time is when he started to develop his

new years party, Rasputin gladly attended it. However, he and Felix would be the only ones
there; the others would be waiting upstairs for the good news. Rasputin was given pastries that
had traces of cyanide, a chemical strong enough to kill a man five times over. However, the
poison never kicked in. Surprised by this, Felix brought out his gun and started to fire upon
Rasputin. He escaped with five shots in his back but was later captured by Felix and his gang
and thrown into a river, bound in layers of carpet. A few days later, after the new year to be exact,
his breathless body was found washed up on shore. (History.com Rasputin is

Junk Food Vs Fast Food
For decades in the United States, big meat companies, fast food chains, and all types of media has
brainwashed Americans to believe that meat heavy diets are the healthy options for humans. Not
only have thousands studies proved this idea false, but they affect so many other factors such as
the environment, undocumented workers, and most importantly our health. In the last few years,
more and more people have shifted to a vegan or a plant based diet, and those who tell their stories
talk about how much of a positive impact it makes on their day to day life, and their overall health.
Trying to convince the majority of the United States to switch to not eating meatis not capable at

Humans have been eating animals their entire life without considering they don t need it, or that it

which is most, is a group 1 carcinogen. A carcinogen is a substance that promotes the formation of
any type of cancer. Animal products, including dairy and eggs, contain cholesterol and saturated
fats which contribute to heart disease, diabetes, cancers and many more life taking diseases. 45

Hair Blonde Stereotypes
Better Than a Blonde?
Do you think brunettes and redheads are superior? Well, think again. For years, blondes have been
associated with words such as dumb , needy , promiscuous and other unflattering adjectives. Even
with these unfortunate stereotypes, research proves that blondes may be the exact opposite. Those
with blonde hair are smarter, wealthier, and are genetically predispositioned to have attractive
qualities.
Blondes have been proven to be the most intelligent when compared to other hair shades. In a
study conducted by the Ohio State University where 10,878 females were surveyed, blonde
women enjoyed an average IQ of 103.2. Those with brown hair mustered a mere 102.7. Redheads
managed 101.2. And what s with black haired women? Theirs was an average IQ of 100.5
(Matyszezyk 2016). Blondes typically have a stigmatism associated with them, such as being dumb
and having little common sense. This stereotype often appears in the media, with numerous movies
focused around blonde women with little intelligence. While this doesn t automatically equate
directly to genetics, it can mean that blonde women are better set up for success. Research by the
National Longitudinal Survey of Youth shows that people with naturally blondhair were found to
have typically grown up in environments with more reading materials available to them, allowing
for more intellectual stimulation during their early growth period than people with other hair colors
had (Ricevuto 2016).

Essay on Red Lobster s Ethical Dilemma
Red Lobster s Ethical Dilemma Term Paper
Gerry Mullen, CEO of Red Lobster restaurants, has been faced with a dilemma. He recently
received an email from Terry Modotti, Vice President for Public Relations concerning the lobster
retrieval in La Mosquitia, also known as the Mosquito Coast. The article states that many of the
young working men are being killed and maimed to make lobsters available at cheap process to
consumers in the United States. The men, known as buzos, must dive up to 130 feet for lobster, and
face dangerous decompression sickness which begins with paralysis and ends in a slow death.
This is due to the fact that there are no medical or decompression facilities on the boats, and there
is also no equipment to aid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another disadvantage of implementing this option would be that net earnings would decrease
due to a decrease in consumers, and shareholders will be angered by the decreasing figures of the
company. With all of the negativity being placed upon the company as a result of this option, a
bad light would be shown on the CEO and the company, especially since Gerry is relatively new.
Since there are clearly more disadvantages than advantages for Gerry and Red Lobster by
exercising this option, I would advise Gerry to further pursue other options. Another option with
which Gerry could investigate would be for Red Lobster to offer to pay a higher price for
lobster to boat companies in the Mosquito Coast in order for the divers to receive a higher salary
cut. A possible advantage to this is that it would provide a better living environment for the
divers. It is stated in the article that after the sacabuzos (middlemen), boat captains, and fish
processors take their share of the money, what remains for the buzos is a mere $2 per pound of
lobster fetched. Within a two week time period, this rate will amount to about $300. If the divers
are trying to support families, $300 for two weeks is quite meager. By increasing the price that
Red Lobster is willing to pay for wholesale lobster, the divers will benefit considerably due to a
higher salary. Another advantage to a higher salary would mean that more individuals would be
inclined to become divers,

The theme is expressed in The Wizard of Oz throughout the movie through the use of the antagonist, the Wicked Witch of the West pursuing the main character, Dorothy, for the shoes she wears (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). The Wicked Witch wants the shoes for herself because they hold great power, but also because they belonged to her sister, The Wicked Witch of the East (Fleming LeRoy, 1939). • 22. Why Has the Industrialization in the Nineteenth Century... Napoleon Bonaparte s main aim is to keep himself in power by using social, economic, and political means. Napoleon attempts to maintain his power through social policies. The Concordat of 1801 is an agreement between the Pope and Napoleon which allows for the Catholic Churches to return to France. This is significant because it allows for Napoleon to not only win over the people of France by returning their religion to them, but the agreement also gives Napoleon easy access to spreading propaganda. With the help of the church, Napoleon can also promote conscription and increase the size of his army in order to maintain his control over a majority of Europe. Napoleon uses censorship to hide or give false information to the people of France. With the help of the prefects in each department, Napoleon essentially has total control of the information the people of France can or cannot know, allowing him to maintain a positive persona in France. Napoleon recognizes that in order to avoid another revolution and to maintain power, he must manipulate the society. Napoleon attempts to use economic means to keep himself in power. First, Napoleon institutes the Continental System in 1806 as an attempt to weaken Great Britain s economy. • 24. Symbolism In Keats s Ode To A Nightingale Torn between two worlds, Keats battled his own personal life between his engagement to Fanny Browne and the death of his brother. Also the poem was written approximately two years before he died. These life changing events resulted in Keats writing one of his most famous poems, Ode to a Nightingale. This poem is an escape from reality in trying to find a happy place such as the singing of the Nightingale(Fiero 9). The poem is a parallel to Keats thoughts and desires, which are directly connected to his reasoning for writing the poem, its connections to understanding nature as well as its reflection of the human consciousnessand natural environment. Ironically the bird in the poem is used as a symbol, whereas the bird that inspired the poem was a real living creature. According to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the themes in Keats poem Ode to a Nightingale is reality verses imaginary (Melani). In the beginning of the poem, the bird is tangible, allowing Keats to hear its pleasant song. As the poem develops the bird becomes a symbol. The bird can represent joy, self expressions and nature s music. One concern in the poem is Keats analysis on the divided nature of humans. This includes mixed feelings of pain verses happiness, feeling verses dullness, real verses ideal and mortal verses immortal. As the poem continues to build on emotion based on human nature, the reader is able to draw conclusions and different abstractions (Melani). In this poem there is an overpowering theme directly related to romanticism, the bird representing nature and immortality while on the flip side Keats representing a worldly state of mind trying to capture the essence of the nightingale by listening to the song. Art is more than a response to the human experience of love and nature; it is the transmuted product of the imagination, a higher form of nature that triumphantly outreaches the mortal lifespan (Fiero ... • 25. Sidewinder Snakes Dr. Joseph Mendelson from the Georgia Institute of Technology and Atlanta Zoo presented his research on the mechanism used by sidewinder snakes for locomotion on sand with the implementation of a robot snake as a model system. The research study involved the collaboration of the physics, engineering and biology departments to further understand the nature of snake movements. Sidewinders are snakes that are able to move on sand at different inclinations because they do not slither but rather employ a different mechanism of movement. Dr. Mendelson was able to determine that the robot snake which mimics a snake that slithers is unable to move on sand with an inclination greater than zero degrees. From the observations of snakes in nature, the results showed that their locomotion is truly optimized based on their repeated operations being maintained in an effective zone. The robot snake was manipulated with different durations and amounts of lifts and contacts that would vary, but be maintained in the ineffective zone due to the failed movement on sand. Another research study involved the examination of the mechanisms employed by sidewinders for turning in a different direction of movement. The results suggested that sidewinders change directions horizontally or vertically by changing the angle of their head. An analysis of the robot snake demonstrated an unobservable locomotion that it is possible to move in both a horizontal and vertical wave movement on the sand in order to change directions via a differential or reversal turning locomotion. Through the investigation of these research studies, Dr. Mendelson and his co researchers were able to discover that in effect sidewinders suffer a cost of being able to implement a different locomotion on inclinations of sand. Sidewinders are not able to avoid obstacles as easily as snakes that slither which can just turn their heads in a slight angle away from the obstacle in order to avoid it. The results showed that the reason for this cost is due to the mechanism that sidewinders use for which the head does not reach the obstacle first to avoid the obstacle beforehand instead of being tangled by it with their body. • 26. Will The Yeast Fermentation Of Yeast Fermentation Of Glucose Will the rate of yeast fermentation of glucose increase as pH levels increase? To test this, 4 trials of two pH level solutions were prepared in order to obtain an average amount of CO2 produced. Twelve mL of yeast, 12 mL of glucose, and 4 mL of either a pH 2 solution or pH 10 solution were prepared in eight beakers, 4 per pH, and then poured into a flask, where the rate of fermentation was then measured in millimeters every 2 minutes for a total of 20 minutes. It was hypothesized that the rate of yeastfermentation of glucose would increase as pH increased. Our data results from the 8 flasks showed no statistical significance between yeast fermentation of glucose in a pH of 2 or pH of 10 solution. Using the final CO2 production level measured after 20 minutes, a t Test assuming equal variances was performed which supported our observations of no significant difference in the rate of yeast fermentation, which led us to accept our null hypothesis stating that a change in pH would have no effect on the rate of yeast fermentation of glucose. At first glance, while the film may utilize an innocent plotline typically geared for young children, stereotypes and racist themes abound, prompting the question of how much of the movie is authentic, and how much of the film is the American perspective on Chinese culture. After an anthropological analysis of the film, it is seen that the genderstereotypes, use of accents, and racial differences not only assist the characterization of what is Chinese , but also provide the audience identification and relatability to the protagonist. Primarily, the protagonist Fa Mulan s struggle against idealizations on females in Chinese society bring attention to the crucial unit of gender roles in anthropology. The story of Mulan centers around her fighting attempts to bring honor to her family a problem that is faced by both males and females. For men, they have a chance to honor their family name by going to war and fighting for the country. On the other hand, women are expected to prove their worth through marriage. This is seen in the Fa family s importance on the Matchmaker day in the beginning of the movie, and Mulan s tedious preparations for pleasing the matchmaker in order to find a good spouse. However, women have to fit certain standards in order to please society and their husband which are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Hamlet What Is the Appeal to the 21 Century Audience As people in the twenty first century generally don t believe in ghosts and don t consider revenge a duty, why is a play like Hamlet still of interest to film and theatre audiences? As William Shakespeare began writing Hamlet in 1598 at the end of the 16th century the play which would go on to become one of his most famous pieces of work was geared towards an audience of churls , groundlings and the less educated members of theatre going society, just as equally as the more educated and affluent audience members. Theatre being a relatively affordable and popular form of entertainment for the less wealthy individuals, Shakespeare would cater as much to their tastes as he would to the higher society who would attend his plays. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When you consider that he was following the instructions of his father s ghost it becomes even more blurred. It was the ghost which created the fire inside Hamlet, the desire for revenge but also the need for revenge as a duty, to his murdered father. The ghost, however, has been the subject of much debate amongst critics and readers of Hamlet, with the controversy surrounding whether the ghost is real as a physical element of the play, or whether it exists simply in the mind of Hamlet. The play opens with Horatio and various watchmen alarmed that they have seen a ghostly presence, although we don t know for sure that they have actually seen the purported ghost of the former King. This could indicate that what they saw wasn t actually a ghost, and further evidence to suggest this could be found in the scene in which Hamlet sees the ghost but Gertrude cannot see him (Act III, Scene IV). Some critics, such as Jan Pick, argue that the appearance of the ghost as an actual element of the play is simply to encourage the audience to accept Hamlet as a rational human being rather than an insane character; the inclusion of the ghost as somebody the audience (if not the other characters) can see lends an air of authenticity to the ghost scenes, authenticity which can only exist to a modern audience in the assumption that Hamlet actually is insane, and imagining the ghost. Excess teacher and administration time is spent figuring out game plans, but not for teaching students, rather for figuring out how to increase test scores. Many high school students do not even take these tests seriously because many of them are at the same intellectual level as adults and realize that the tests are flawed. Still, they might not consider that these flawed tests might lessen their chances of getting into college. Certainly, one could envision a system of standardized tests where learning is at the center. These tests are biased and prefer certain groups over others, making them unfair and denying equal opportunity for education. Minority and low income students are affected far more than middle class, majority students. In fact, if the government persists in making a student s graduation rest on a single test, the result over the next few years could be a scenario that might be described as an educational ethnic cleansing (Kohn, 2000). It is unfair to base a school s funding on these tests when clearly any underperforming schools would benefit greater from an increase of resources as opposed to schools that perform at a higher level. Every year 1.2 million students fail to graduate from high school based on their test scores and therefore, cost the Nation more than $3.1 million in lost wages, taxes, and productivity over their lifetimes (Congress, 2011). It has taken some time for educators and parents to realize that the idiom of standards is turning schools into test prep centers, effectively undermining enthusiasm for learning and teaching. ... While there is no fixed curriculum or one specific model to emulate, the Reggio Emilia approach does have some essential components, some fundamental ideas about how children learn most effectively. The utmost is the idea that the young child is inherently competent not only as a learner but as an initiator. The child has preferences and opinions that have value and should be listened to with respect and care, knowing that they have much to offer their classroom community and community at large. This pedagogy plays a large role in shaping the Reggio classroom. Due to the harsh, water scarce deserts in which meerkats live, finding adequate water supplies is nearly impossible and when present, water is dominated by larger animals that consider meerkats to be a meal. Therefore, the meerkat must make use of available moisture and obtains its requirements primarily through its diet. It has been observed that a gang of meerkats will inhabit underground burrows consisting of numerous entrance and exit holes, multiple sleeping and birthing chambers, and having hundreds of feet of tunnels branching off in several directions, which give them the ability to escape predators who invade their homes. An average gang s burrow may have well over fifteen separate dens and it should be noted that the number of areas provide them the opportunity to rotate their use every three to four weeks. This rotation is a result of parasite (ticks, ants, fleas) overload, making living conditions both unsafe and unsanitary. Once the parasitic levels have reached a reasonable level, meerkats will re inhabit the dens. At least one chamber within the burrow is reserved as a bathroom, or litter box, serving as a safe place for relief of bodily functions. It is extremely unsafe for a meerkat to exit the burrow at night to relieve themselves, so having a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Those with blonde hair are smarter, wealthier, and are genetically predispositioned to have attractive qualities. Blondes have been proven to be the most intelligent when compared to other hair shades. In a study conducted by the Ohio State University where 10,878 females were surveyed, blonde women enjoyed an average IQ of 103.2. Those with brown hair mustered a mere 102.7. Redheads managed 101.2.
