The Rituals Of The Nacirema People
It s fascinating that as Miner stated in the text, the diversity of ways that different people behave
in similar situations. The Nacirema people are a secluded society that not many people have
heard about it and they are willing to go to the extreme with their bodies. Nacirema are very
conscious about their body, as it is seen as ugly and week. Therefore most of the rituals described
are to cure the body and to make it more atheistic to their people. As well as, going to the extreme
to make their body and mouth approachable to others, they also posses charms and potions to
maintain it. Reading about Nacirema s rituals at first it might sound out of the common sense. They
believe that the body is our social medium, in which it has to appeal

Comparing Slayer And Metal Music
We cannot speak about Heavy Metal and not discuss Slayer and Metallica. The thrash metal scene
has them to thank for defining the sound of that genre. Both bands are also part of a successful
tour known as the Big Four of Thrash. The Big Four, comprising of the bands Anthrax, Megadeth,
Slayer and Metallica are called the Big Four because of the influence that they have had on almost
every metal act that succeeded them. They are also credited with bringing the genre of thrash metal
to the forefront of the metal scene (http://www.urbandictionary.com

When you have had a career as long as Metallica s and Slayer s, maintaining an identity and a
certain style becomes increasingly difficult. Fans and reviewers alike are bound to compare new
albums with the previous albums. This helps to keep both bands on their toes as they try to find a
balance between maintaining their original sound while not releasing an album that sounds similar
to albums of the past. A comparison between album sales and what said album sounds like would
help in determining what their fans like and do not

Loss Of Innocence In The Handmaid s Tale
Coming into college I had an established belief system. I had asked myself extremely tough
questions about life, the purpose of humanity, etc.; and because I am completely aware that I have
blind spots I invited others to ask me tough questions as well. My innate desire to unveil truth was
executed in a manner similar to the technique that John Milton advocates for in his novel
Areopagitica, in regard to purity being a product of trial. I have always established my convictions
on the basis of my beliefs being able to withstand trials, because truthcan be put on trial repeatedly,
but if it is really true there will always be a verdict of innocence. This court metaphor alludes to
truth always being true, because if it is really truth there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Offred s character revealed an interesting part of the human situation, and that is that we possess
a desire for some sense of stability and comfort in our situation regardless of if it is a large
amount or small. In the midst of Offred s unfortunate situation it becomes evident that her
transition from her previous life to her current situation has included a loss of freedom and
power. Her lack of control and her awareness of it is evident, and we see that her response to this
is striving to find control, power, and stability in anything that she can. The reader gets a
glimpse of this when Offred admits to feeling empowered by acquiring the sympathy of the
commander and taunting the guards with her hips; she also finds comfort and a sense of
stability in her relationship with Nick. Offred s behavior reveals an intimate human quality and
that is the desire to have a form of control over our lives and decisions, even when that is not
necessarily the case. For example if a child has to go stay two weeks in Wisconsin with family
members they do not like and they don t have a choice. The child would be upset, but a way to
ease the anger would be to give them the opportunity to choose their form of transportation train,
plane, car, etc. This makes them feel a little better because they are getting to control something,
yet it doesn t change the fact that they are still required to go to Wisconsin and they have no
control in that. Sometimes when we are faced with a situation where we really have no choice, if
we can find a way to trick ourselves into thinking we do have a choice our situation becomes more
bearable. This is a result of us believing that we have some form of control, and this concept is
present in Offred s character throughout the Handmaid s Taleand it also reveals a human quality that

A Study On Seismic Wave
CHAPTER 2
REVIEW OF LITRETURE
2.1 Introduction
Most of today s producing naturally fractured reservoirs were discovered accidentally, they were
found by somebody who are looking for some other type of reservoir. Significant volume of
hydrocarbon resides in these reservoirs. But these are abandoned particularly in fields because
improper testing and evolution or because the wells did not intersect the natural fractures (Aguilera,
1998). Attempts have been made to quantify properties of such reservoir (Chaki et al., 2014). It has
been long recognized that the presence of naturally occurring fracture network can lead to
unpredictable heterogeneity and anisotropy within many reservoirs. In past geophysicists acquired
and processed P wave reflection data at short offset, which automatically implied relatively small
angular ray coverage. So seismic anisotropy, which is defined as directional dependence of elastic
properties of earth remains unnoticed. But with the advance of methodologies, acquiring long
offset and multi component data become feasible and cost effective, anisotropy showed up. Seismic
wave propagation in heterogeneous medium is discussed by Chabak et al., 2012. On a smaller
scale, stresses in the Earth can cause rock to fracture in a consistent manner. If these fractures are
aligned, the rock will be anisotropic with the fast direction parallel to the fractures and the slow
direction perpendicular to them. In ideal cases, these observations can provide

Maagdalena And Mary Magdalene
This reference to Mary Magdalene is implicitly referencing the individual painting however, it
can also be seen as an explicit reference when you see the physical painting of Penitent
Magdalene. He also addresses her as Magdalene which adds to the strength of the reference. This
reference is a strong biblical reference that can have a variety of interpretations although it can be
argued that Caravaggio loved her so much because he wishes that he could repent for his sins. He
had a troubled life when he was younger and there were a lot of mistakes that he made when he was
younger that he is not proud of. He is also a presumed homosexual and although homosexuality was
very prominent in nobility and among patrons who took advantage of Caravaggio, homosexuality
was deemed unnatural and therefore must remain hidden. A significant difference between the
historical Mary Magdaleneand Lena is the difference in their life before repentance and their life
after. Mary Magdalene was a repentant prostitute who was asking for forgiveness for her choice of
lifestyle and her sins. She was claimed to have found a new life in the way of christ and leave
behind a life of luxury and sinin order to cleanse herself in the way of the savior JesusChrist. Lena s
reasoning for repentance is different, she is moving away from her life of sin and prostitution in
order to raise her baby with a wealthy man and live a life of grandeur. This idea is interesting
because it presents the question of why

Cochabamba Essay
Cochabamba is a town in the Andes Mountains (Murdock). In 2000, the town s population was
approximately 800,000 (Murdock). Although the town was small, the people inside created quite
an uproar in the year 2000 (Murdock). What was the cause? Water. Bolivia has the weakest
economic system in South America (Murdock). The country is so poor that they had no other
option than to sell of their railroads, mines, oil and gas fields, electric companies and so much more
(Hennigan). Yet, Bolivias economy had not gotten any better. The government of Bolivia asked the
World Bank what should be done (Shultz). The bank encouraged Bolivia s government to continue
to sell their resources to foreign companies because doing so opens the door to needed investment
into the country (Shultz). Bolivia did just that. They government sold Cochabamba s water in 1999

local corruption and too ill equipped to run public water systems efficiently (Shultz). The
government tried to cover up the issue by saying that the reason the people of Cochabamba started
the riots was because of losing drug money (The Democracy Center). Specifically, the money the
government lost from selling coca, a good they sold to the United States that produced cocaine

Analysis Of The Movie Trainspotting
The movie Trainspotting, released in the July of 1996, depicts a group of heroin addicts and
their peers eking out an existence in 1980 s Edinburgh, Scotland. Based on a 1993 book of the
same name by Irvine Welsh, the movie was a commercial success as well as critical one. It is
ranked as the 10th best British movie of All Time by the British Film Institute in 1999 (Best 100
British Films). When the book was published Welsh was condemned for glamorizing heroinabuse,
to which he responded that he was only depicting what was going on, what he knew, and who he
knew. The book and the movie mirror the reality of the creation of an underclass in Edinburgh in
the late 1970 s and 1980 s. Historically opiates have been a part of Edinburgh since the late 1600
s. After heroin was synthesized and began being used as a painkiller in 1894 Edinburgh became
the capital of opiate production as discussed in an article from The Guardian in 2009. The article
quotes Michael Fry as saying By the end of the 19th century, writes Fry, Edinburgh produced
most of the world s opiate drugs, heroin included. (Edemariam and Scott) In the 1980 s however
the situation changed dramatically. Cheaper heroin from South Asia became readily available
which was met with a growing receptive audience. The same outsourcing that created the US Rust
Belt and condemned Detroit to become a shadow of former self was felt in Scotland as well. So
when that influx of drugs came in the early 80 s it was met with

Smallwood s Middle Passage
Smallwood s, like Taylor s, qualitative analysis is based on white sources as none where written
by the slaves themselves. However, Smallwood is able to get over this hurdle by comparing her
archival findings with the cultural, social, and political features of the societies of the Gold
Coast. Interestingly, Smallwood relates the experience of the Middle Passage with African
cultural notions of cosmology and funeral rights and rituals. Her approach is refreshing as she is
not simply interested in the quantity of slaves brought to market through the middle passage, but
rather, she is interested in the experience of the middle passage and how that experience turned
Africans into slaves. Smallwood s goal is to bring the people aboard slave ships to life as
subjects in American social history. Her goal is one of agency, and is an important and critical
goal of any social history. Smallwood traces the transformation, step by step, of Africans to slaves.
The human being is central to this transformation. As the reader moves through the book the reader
slowly sees captive Africans being molded into slaves. Though Smallwood seeks to show agency...

International Business Barriers
Business is an important aspect of American lives. We always work for a business or we could
be the one running the business. Businesses is one of the reasons a country is wealthy or not.
They meet the basic needs and the luxuries of everyday life. Though there are a lot of sole
proprietor businesses in America, we also have a fairly large sum of international business.
International businesses have barriers and trade agreements in order to make them more
successful. In order to have a good international business, you need some basic strategies. One of
them is to Build a broader customer base ( International Business Strategies ). If you accomplish
this, then you will have more people paying for your product. That s a higher demand for
whatever you are selling, which causes you to have more profits and the ability to expand your
business. If you expand, you will need to hire more workers and that helps out the entire
economy. Another strategy is Lower production costs by using lower priced labor abroad (
International Business Strategies ). This helps lower your overall costs and helps you lower the
market price for your item so more people can buy it. That would increase demand and profits,
having the same effect as the previous strategy. If you don t want to lower the market price, it s
simply a bigger profit for you for every item you sell. If you were to lower the prices, it would give
you an edge against the other international businesses in the particular field.

Troubles in Northern Ireland from the IRA and British...
INTRODUCTION Although much of the blame for the Troubles in Northern Ireland has fallen on
the IRA as a terrorist group, the British government was responsible for numerous acts of state
terrorism in the period. As a result of their frustration towards the situation in the North and their
desperation to stop the IRA from wreaking havoc, the British Armyand police acted in ways that
one would not expect from the representatives of a world power in the late twentieth century. The
British government refused to recognize the legitimacy of the IRA, and instead of combating them
as a military enemy, often resorted to acts of terrorismof their own. These instances of state

Years of British occupation and oppression led to a sustained campaign to regain freedom from
Britain beginning in the early twentieth century. Both the loyalist (supporters of the Union with
Britain) and the republicans (supporters of a united Ireland) were willing to use violence for their
cause. This took form in the 1916 Easter Rising, where Irish rebels declared the independence of
the Irish Republic and fought in Dublin against the British to regain control of their homeland. The
rebels were unsuccessful and were forced to surrender. This lead to the later Irish War of
Independence, and the introduction of the Government of Ireland Act in 1920 and the Anglo Irish
Treaty of 1921, which resulted in the partitioning of Ireland into six counties in the North ruled by
Britain and twenty six counties in the south, newly named the Irish Free State. However, a
significant minority in the North of around forty percent were Irish nationalists who wanted
independence from Britain. Therefore, from its creation in 1920, Northern Ireland was a state whose
citizens differed over their national allegiance. This situation in the North caused a great deal of
tension, as the leaders of the Protestant, unionist majority discriminated against the Catholic,
nationalist minority. So, by the 1960s, Catholic nationalist frustration was manifested in a campaign
for civil rights, to which the state responded with vicious intensity. Those who were

I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud Analysis
Analyzing Figurative Language of: I wandered Lonely as a Cloud by Williams Wordsworth. I
decided to choose this poem, I wandered lonely as a Cloud by Williams Wordsworth because it
pictures a beautiful natural scene in the mind of the readers. I love natural beauty and flowers
and I can easily relate this poem to the marigold flowers I have planted this summer. I like this
poem because it makes one feel good about the world, even if you re lonely. Even though I don t
have a back yard garden, the sight of these flowers gently dancing in the breeze makes me feel
like in a garden with so many plants and trees. This poem also brings out the author s love for

The poet who was idle in the beginning of the poem is now quite excited by the sight of the
daffodils beside the lake. He uses personification to describe the golden daffodils dancing and
fluttering in the breeze. The figurative language used here conveys that the monotonous tone of the
poem suddenly shifted to a quite lively and cheerful tone. In the above mentioned stanza, the poet
used imagery that helped the readers to create a beautiful scenic image in their minds. Here the
figurative language is important because the beauty of the poem lies in the imagery that the poet

Symbolism In The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne
Nathaniel Hawthorne, in his short story The Birthmark (written and published prior to 1843),
contains the element of symbolism to present the theme of personal beauty, regardless of physical
appearance. More specifically, he speaks of the appearance of Georgiana, the wife of Aylmer, who
had a very large birthmark, or blemish that appeared upon birth. God made every individual perfect,
and made it very clear that man not need go tampering with the beauty, inner or external, that God
gave someone at the moment of their birth birth. The style Hawthorne chose describes each symbol
with great detail . For example, when Hawthorne describes the birthmark in detail; ...But if any

For example, Aylmer tries to destroy Georgiana s human nature [her birthmark, in which born
with], thus destroying her life, because she essentially contained no beauty on the outside
(Rosenberg, The Best The Earth Has To Offer). Aylmer wanted to cure his wife from the birthmark
she had that he so dreaded. He looked at his wife as being Shocking (Hawthorne, The Birthmark).
Another example would be when Aminabad looked at Georgiana with the identity given to her, not
the identity her husband wants for her . ...Aminadab, looking intently at the lifeless form of
Georgiana; and then he muttered to himself, If she were my wife, I d never part with that
birthmark. Aminadab shows large levels of content with the appearance and features of Georgiana,
that he would have never tampered with the features given to her at birth, opposed to Aylmer, who
wanted to change the way she looked, that she be more beautiful to him (Rosenberg, The best the
Earth has to Offer). A third example of this theme would be That Georgiana Wants Her husband to
love her the way she is, and in the beginning of the story, gets rather upset at him. Shocks you, my
husband! cried Georgiana, deeply hurt; at first reddening with momentary anger, but then bursting
into tears. Then why did you take me from my mother s side? (Hawthorne, The Birthmark).

Tennessee law on advanced directives is a document that tells your family, friends, and doctors

will in which you state the plan of care when you are no longer able to communicate treatment
choices or decision. Advance directives is not only for the elderly but it can be at any age even if
you are not sick at the time of the document. This document list the details of treatment that you

The Internet may well be the best tool for women entrepreneurs as they seek increased
opportunities, female mentorship, start up capital, and perhaps even a way, if it exists, to let go of
any mom guilt. From entrepreneurial websites designed just for women to crowdfunding and
online based small business financing, the Internet offers business oriented women a wide array of
start up opportunities.

percent, according to 2014 data published by Womenable and American Express OPEN.
And according to a Dell survey, the U.S. topped a list of 30 countries as the best for women
entrepreneurs followed next in line by Australia, Sweden and France. However, these survey results
showed that 75 percent of these countries could do more to support female business leaders.
Challenges that women face include male dominated industries, limited access to capital, and less
than stellar women s rights issues.
In almost half of the surveyed countries, 50 percent of the female population are described as
unbanked, meaning that a significant disparity exists between the number of men and women who
have bank accounts.
According to Business News Daily, other hurdles facing women entrepreneurs include lack of
funding from venture capitalist firms, balancing work and family life, and finding like minded
women in the business world to provide support and mentorship. A recent study from the Kauffman
Foundation shows that the lack of available advisors tops the list of challenges for female
entrepreneurs.
Limitations also arise from gender stereotype. A recent study from the University of California,
Santa Barbara, suggests that people generally regard female entrepreneurs as less competent and
their businesses less worthy of investment. And, because men lead many venture capitalist firms,

Eusebius Pamphilus Life Of The Blessed Emperor
The Life of the Blessed Emperor Constantine Part One is one in a set of four in depth historical
books about the life of Constantine, and is authored by Eusebius Pamphilus (also known as
Eusebius of Caesarea). Eusebius structured this book to follow the history of Constantine from the
time of his birth until the time of Licinius (Maxamin II Daia) decline into ill health. Eusebius of
Caesarea, born in 260 A.D. and died in 340 A.D, is referred to as the father of church history due to
his penchant recording of historical church events. Moreover, Eusebius was an educated man,
which allowed him the skill to record the history of the church as told to him, often times by
witnesses themselves. In addition, Eusebius was a devout Christian. During the year 313, Eusebius
Pamphili was named bishop of Caesarea. It s no surprise why Eusebius writes about Flavius
Valerias Constantinus (Constantine) with not only fervor but veneration in this book. Constantine s
father, Constantius Chlorus, was a devout believer in the Christian God, therefore Eusebius looked
favourably on his governing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

but in this literary environment the excessive praise deflects from the historical and bibliographical
intention. In spite of this, Eusebius is able to communicate his thesis and persuade readers using
historical and sacred accounts. Overall this book achieves its goal in providing readers with
historical information and persuading readers to adopt Eusebius

Medical Uses of Camomile
Camomile is a European flower in the daisy family. Looking very similar to the daisy, it contains
it s white and yellow colors. This extremely useful plant has been used over generations on both
children and adults. Known for its ways to cure symptoms of illness, its healing powers are what
made it most popular. One of it s most popular uses if for relieving stress and anxiety. Containing
relaxants, it calms the person and maybe even sleepy. Chamomilealso helps with stomach pains and
digestive issues. The oils it contains soothes and settles the stomach, preventing any aches or pains.
Topically, it can be used for some skin conditions, such as rashes. Also helping with the healing of
wounds, it stops irritationand itchiness. Mouth ulcers, a result of cancer treatments, can also be
treated with Camomile. Many are still researching the properties of Chamomile and trying to find
out what else it can do.
Chamomile comes in many forms. The most well known is it s tea. Boiled in water, this is a
simple and beneficial way to receive Chamomile s healing properties. If grown in a garden, the
flowers can just be added into the boiled water, but tea bags can be bought at local stores. The
flower heads are the only part used in tea, but the whole flower is useful. Ointment and skin
cream is also made with the flower heads. Mouthwash is made the same way that the tea is, and
also uses the flower heads. There are many other creative uses for situations like irritated eyes or for

Saml vs. Oath
While researching for this assignment, I came across a lot of good points about each access control

the user. The fact that it simplifies log on procedures is a big factor. Security Assertion Markup

They could theoretically go into your Facebook account and change your password, locking you
out of it. That is a downside to OAUTH. It grants the website certain permissions to post
something on Facebook on your behalf. What I mean by this is if you have your Yahoo account
linked to Facebook and you read an article, Yahoo will post something on Facebook saying you
recently read a certain article. Granted Yahoo gives you an option to show friends on Facebook
what you read or not, but websites such as SocialCam do not give you that option. If you watch
a video on SocialCam it will show on Facebook what you watched. The reasons behind these
actions are so friends will drive friends to read potential stories and to drive people to the
websites to gain more viewers. So they essentially use your Facebook to further their website.
Also websites can use recent trends from your Facebook page to try to entice you with
advertisements. The advertisements may proclaim that friend of yours on Facebook uses a
certain product, or is interested in certain things that you may be interested in. Now which one do I
prefer? Personally they both have their downsides, but for ease of access I actually prefer OAUTH.
IT has its flaws, but so does any software or ease of access program. Depending on how it is used, I
would prefer to use it only to access certain websites where I

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Budweiser Commercial
Visual Rhetorical Analysis: Budweiser
The time period of this commercial was set in the mid 1800 s; when Adolphus Busch was a
German immigrant who came to America in the mid 1800 s. Adolphus came to America to sell
his kind of beer. The culture in the Budweiser Commercial was to show how Americans did not
want to give their jobs to the new immigrants. The audience for this commercial was mainly
targeted to blue collar workers or people who were working class in factories. The purpose of the
commercial was to not give up on the American dream. Mr. Busch wants to sell beer in the

The start of the commercial Busch is in a boat heading to America. Busch got his paper work to
be labeled as an American. Busch gets on a steam boat and heads down the Mississippi River to
Saint Louis. Then the steam boat catches on fire so he and the other people on the boat had to
jump off and find land. After tracking through the marshland of the Mississippi; Bush and the
others found a boat that would bring them straight to Saint Louis. When Busch made it to Saint
Louis he was treated nicely by the people of Saint Louis. At the end of the commercial you see
Busch making a deal with a business man to sell his beer. The conclusion of the commercial was
Busch showing his partner what the next kind of beer will be sold in. The audience in that time
would probably respond by saying immigrants are taking our jobs and they should go back to
where they came from. What Adolphus Busch did in his time helped create the Budweiser
Companies wide range of customers around the world. The argument made in the commercial is
that Americans were losing their jobs due to the big increase in immigrants, so Americans were
mad so they threaten to hurt anyone who were immigrants. The kind of argument used in the
beginning of the commercial, was more of an evaluation because they did not

sweltering hot car or sitting outside for long periods of time in direct sunlight is never a good
idea. Both circumstances can lead to a damaged board. Extreme heat and drastic temperature
changes can weaken or crack the outer layer, which may eventually cause delamination, meaning
the outer coating separates from the foam core. Continuing to surf on a dinged up surfboard is
asking for trouble. As time passes, water will enter your surfboard, damaging the foam core.

The Case Of The Australian Legal System
Due to negative aspects that were presented in cases such as the Corey Davis case, the
effectiveness of the Australian Legal System in accomplishing justice began to be viewed to
demonstrate flaws in certain occasions by the Australian public. The Australian legal system
aims to achieve equality and fairness towards the citizens of Australia to avoid anarchy within
the nation. This is accomplished by set rules and laws that are created by the government.
However, if these rules and laws are to be broken by an individual or a group of people living
within the borders of the country, they may face legal consequences that include getting a fine,
imprisonment, a life sentence or in some occurrences, a combination of these forms of
punishment. In the Corey Davis case, an eleven year old boy that is identified as W is sent to
trial for committing an offence towards a six year old boy. An outline of the events in the Corey
Davis case will be further explored as well as the involvement of the police, the conduct of the
court system throughout the investigation of the case and its influence in achieving justice, and a
summary of the trial. Furthermore, the debate about the current age limit for doli incapax and
whether it is appropriate for modern society will be discussed as the Corey Davis case raised
arguments about this topic. The Australian legal system aims to achieve justice, however certain

Rule Changes In Major League Baseball
Major League Baseball is an organization steeped in tradition and custom. Nothing short of an
Executive Order is necessary to alter the rules that govern the sport. While that may be a slight
exaggeration, the foundation of the game has remained largely unchanged on the professional level
for decades. That said, a recent change in the rules has stirred a bit of controversy among
managers, players and fans.
As is often the case with rule alterations, the change seemed to stem from a play in Game 2 of the
National League Division Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets last
season. Dodgers second baseman Chase Utley aggressively slid into second base in an attempt to
break up a double play. In doing so, Utley slid to the outfield side of second base and collided with
Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada. The collision... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Purists argue that a hard slide is simply part of the game, while more progressive baseball minds
point to player safety. A similar rule change occurred in 2014 after San Francisco Giants catcher
Buster Posey was lost for the 2011 season following a collision at home plate with Scott Cousins,
formerly of the Florida Marlins. The rule served to protect catchers from the often violent home
plate collisions. The Posey play, much like the one involving Tejada, was well within the rules at
the time it occurred.
The new Chase Utley rule was put to the test on two separate occasions early in this 2016 season.
On April 5, in the ninth inning of a game against the Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays
outfielder Jose Bautista was called out while trying to break up a double play. On the play,
Bautista was initially ruled safe. However, after replay review, the call was changed to a game
ending double play. Similarly, a game between the Houston Astros and Milwaukee Brewers on
April 8 ended when Astros outfielder Colby Rasmus was called for interference while attempting to

Discretionary Access Control (DAC)
Discretionary Access Control (DAC)
Computer security is important in every organization. It covers several areas such as locking the
computer room and the computer itself, protecting login accounts with passwords, encrypting
network communication lines and use of file protection among others. Whitman (2011) points out
that computer system security ensures that your computer does what it is supposed to, even if the
users do what they should not do. Discretionary Access Control (DAC) is a type of access controls
that provides protection to the files in a computer system. This type of control restricts access to
files based on the identity of users or groups which they belong. It is discretionary and lets you
tell the computer system who can have access to your files and therefore you can specify the
type of access allowed. For example, you can allow anyone to read a particular file in the system,
but allow only you to be able to change it.
According to Whitman (2011), this type of control access is rarely used with high security systems
because someone with permission to access files is able to pass that permission either directly or
indirectly on to any other person. This capability poses a threat to the security of the files and can
be dangerous to a high security system. An organization that requires high security, but the
operating system only supports DAC, can compensate with the use of an Access Control List
(ACL). Haldar (2010) defines ACL as a list which denotes which

A Report On Agriculture And Horticulture Class
Introduction
On the 15/03/16 our year 12 agriculture and horticulture class went on a trip to a local dairy goat
farm. This is a 40 hectare farm on sandy loam soil which houses 1100 goats, all goats are kept in
door and all food is made on site and bought to them along with their water. Only about 700 goats
are being milked. These goats are milked on a rotary milk parlour, which is one of two in the
country. There were 3 full time staff working and the manager. We asked the manager many
questions to assist us with our internal. The answers were occasionally a bit brief due to the owner
only taking over the farm about a month ago, but we received the necessary information. A guided
tour took place with the owner and a full time employee. Which included us looking at the housing
systems, feeding systems, the composting procedure, Milking shed and other relevant information
such as the restrictions they have.
Soil Impacts
Having good soil structure is very important for all types of farming. To constantly provide
quality feed soil with a good tilth and with plenty of nutrients is required. This is achieved by
collecting urine and dung from the milk shed and is collected in ponds. The liquid is drained
away and are processed through 3 screens then drained into a holding tank ready to be spread on
the farm. While this process is taking place the original solids are scraped away and placed into a
bay with a weeping wall to drain the excess water. Once most water has been drained

Music Therapy Approach I Decided Essay
Funnily enough, it wasn t until this class that I even started to consider which music therapy
approach I wanted to take. In fact, it wasn t until this class that I discovered all the approaches
there were in music therapy. I always knew that I was interested in working with a population of
children however this was an entire new depth level. Of all the interesting approaches, several
stood out to me as ones that fit me personally and the career I want to pursue.
Neurological Music Therapy When I first started learning about this approach I shied away from
it as it sounded too technical and scientific. However the more we touched on it, the more
intrigued I became. I am definitely a list person and so one of my skills is that I am very good at
following specific instruction and making specific goals that lead to an outcome which is very
present in NMT. Many of the techniques in NMT are very specifically laid out on how to follow
through with them to get to the next step (ex. Melodic Intonation Therapy). I am very aware and
100% support the notion that process always overrules progress, however, I feel like it would
feel rewarding to work in an approach that is evidence where you could very clearly see what
you are working on and the goals you are reaching. Although I am not entirely uneducated on the
topic and would further my education further if I decided to go into the field, the science side of
this therapy probably would not be a strong suit of mine and so I

Nt1320 Unit 8
This project is about analyzing the voice signals and computing the MFCC i.e (Mel frequency
Cepstral Coefficient) and the VQ (Vector Quantisation) to be carried out.
So, as you can see there are nine steps carried out in here. The first one is about taking our own
voice signal and storing that in the database. So, this step is basically the most vital of all because
we as human beings can distinguish and recognize each other s voice. For ex. If four of us speak
in a group we can easily distinguish who spoke first and who finished at the last. Now, for a
computer to distinguish individual voice signals are not an easy task as everyone has their own
frequency of speech. Therefore this analyzing of the voice signals is only possible by computing ...

So, now collectively organizing all the data points and using them for comparison purposes is
quite hectic. So, what we do we use VQ. You can see the red circles and the speaker 1 and the

for matching is vector quantization. Likewise let me show you vector quantization code word.
Let me show you the user database in which my friend s voice is stored. As you can see the
crosses show the speaker 5 points and the delta shows the centroid values. Now how can we
calculate the centroid values is the main function here. Now what we have done we calculate the
mean and it is splitted in two parts and orthogonal to the two parts a line is drawn and the mean
is calculated for both the areas and the process goes on and on an in the end for comparison
purposes these centroid values their distances are calculated and those found with the minimum
distances their match is found with the user. Likewise here for speaker 4 and 5 are shown where
red crosses and blue crosses represent the signals of the speakers and similarly for these speakers
the centroid values and mean are calculated and minimum distance is found

Web And Content Management Systems
What is WordPress?
It seems that the internet is filled with blogs. That s not an observation, it s a fact. Wherever we
look on the web, we find blogs about everything from AA meetings, to taking the drug Zytiga. For
most people, starting a blog is a daunting process. Without knowledge of HTML and CSS it would
seem impossible, and for the average person, that used to be true. That is until the creation of self
publishing/content management systems(CMS) like WordPress(WP). WP was originally created as
new blogging platform in 2003. It was based on an older, and soon to be defunct, platform called
b2/cafelog. Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little were the founding developers of WP and sought to
take on the platform leader Moveable Type. Now WP powers around 20% of all websites. These
aren t just personal blogs, but corporate news and business sites as well. What makes WP
desirable to is the cost, and ease of use. WP is open source, so the software is free to use with any
hosting providers (as of 2017 only providers that offer an SSL will be able to offer WP with their
hosting). Ease of use comes in the form of using the dashboard to publish content, and style the
website. This is ideal for someone that has no knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. Giving this
kind of usability to everyone, makes it possible for the average user to make a place for themselves
on the web.

Theme Of Supernatural In Things Fall Apart
In Thing s Fall Apart death is represented in one instance as a religous act. When Okwonkwo is

anything to do with the death but it was a sacrifice ordered by the oracle. In Okwonkwo s efforts
to never look weak he particpates in the killing of Ikemefuna even though he was told not to.
Death in the novel also represents betrayal, I say this because Ikemefuna called Okwonkwo his
dad. Through the beginning of the text til when Ikemufuna is sacraficed no one seen that coming.
Okwonkwo is a trader because not only did he love the kid as his own, but Ikemufuna actually

Some that are listed in the text are Ani, Amadiora, Idemeli,Agbala, and Ogwugwu and they are
believed to be the source of the communities stability and peace. The gods aren t the only evidence
of supernatural beliefs in the text, the fact that the people of Umuofia practice/believe in certain
rituals and ceremonies contribute to the role of supernatural.
In Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo was told to kill Ikemefuna, the village boy who has become like
a son to him. The religous allusion refers to the Last Supper when Abraham was ordered to kill
his son Isaac by god. Okwonkwo in Things Fall Apart is playing Abraham and the Oracle is the
god who orders him to do so. Ikemefuna is Isaac in this biblical allusion, the oracle doesnt want
Okwonkwo to have anything to do with the killing of Ikemefuna. This represents the angel that
comes down and stops Abraham from killing Isaac.

Cyberbullying, An Online Harassment Of Children By Others
Rather be Bullied or Cyberbullied
Abstract:
Cyberbullying is an online harassment of children by others. The works of Patchin, Shariff, and
Willard, all prominent researchers in the study of cyberbullying. They found issues related to
cyberbullying that can be understood. Most cyberbullying instances happen at home and is often
brought to the school campus. School systems are left unsure of how to response to the bullying
while balancing legal and ethnic responsibilities. Students across the nation are being bullied online
and are bringing to school the residual effects of these personal attacks The issues include
traditional bullying, teen social media use and cyberbullying. The issue of cyberbullying cannot
truly be addressed unless it is approached reactively. It has become increasingly evident that the
Internet has brought to our campuses another threat to student safety. It has come to the point
where school districts have zero tolerance policies against bullying to case of cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying by federal and state statue definition includes bullying or harassment by use of an
electronic communication device.
Why do people cyberbully? Have you ever been bullied and thought people just do it to get

Hellenistic Miletus Research Paper
The Milesian system was structured originally on six tribes, but when they changed to a more
democratic system under Athenian influence they changed over to 12 tribes. It is highly
probable that they submitted their candidates for offices from these tribes. In order to become a
citizen one had to be enrolled in these tribes. Milesian territory was broken up into 5 or 7 demes
or districts. The earliest officials mentioned in decrees of Hellenistic Miletus are the synedroi,
whose status is not clear. They have been considered as either a standing committee of the city

century there were around 75 members, which was reduced down to 10 in the late second century.
However, it is hard to know how frequent and the dates that the assembly met, but it is probable
that the assembly met at least once a month. It is also probable that they held special sessions that

Miletus started under the influence of Athens, but with time and the influence of Alcibiades and
Sparta, they promoted a revolt against Athens. Miletus came under the siege of Athens, but hid
behind their walls and over time Athens gave up. Sparta and Persia used Miletus as a base
throughout the war. However, there was some confusion of who was in control and attempts to
throw out these powers from Miletus. Sparta in 405 BC helped change Miletus back to an
oligarchy, but they also had some struggles. The Peace of Atalcidas in 386 BC ended the
independence of Asia Minor, but they continued to use their constitution they had previously

The Population Of Japan And Japan
This graph illustrates that the population of Japan has aged at a rate that is not what is generally
seen, even in other countries which have large numbers of the population approaching retirement
age. It is marked by two age group crests ; the first of which can be seen between the ages of 60 to
69, and the second crest can be seen peaking between ages 40 to 44.
The Statistics Bureau of Japan estimates that the population of people over the age of 65 comprises
25.8 per cent of the total population of the country currently, and as the second age crest reaches
retirement age in the next 20 years, the ratio of people over 65 will reach a new high. This will
not only be the result of this second crest being larger in scale relative to younger generations, but
also because life expectancy in Japan is currently at 85 (The World Bank Group) and projected to
rise to 87 in the next decade, meaning that these crests will need to be supported by the working
population simultaneously.
This aging generation is not inherently negative for the economy, of course. The other aspects of
Japanese demographic indicators are what makes this aging alarming and pose a serious danger
to the future of the Japanese economy. While not the focus of this paper, it is worth discussing the
population growth of Japan. While the near future will undoubtedly face a greater burden as the
first age bracket reaches retirement age, the worst hardship will arise in 20 years. The horizon of
20 years is

Nt1310 Central Processing Unit
Central Processing Unit
The CPU or Central Processing Unit, is essentially the brain of any computer since the CPU was
refined to the microprocessor we see today. It works together with every other part of a computer,
who themselves cannot work individually. Although The CPU may look much like an expensive
computer chip at first glance, it is an intricately designed piece of hardware with cache memory of
varying sizes, and cores of varying speeds. This is where calculations from simple arithmetic to
global simulations take place. In conclusion, with how far CPUs have come from their humble
origins, to the never ending stream of tasks of today, this is a vital component that shouldn t be
overlooked or underestimated.
Moore s law states that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The evolution of the processor has come all the way from the Intel 4004 to the processors of
today and one would expect Moore s law to continue to allow exponentially more powerful
processors from here on out. Moore s law will continue, but in a way of overall speed instead of
transistors. Modern processors being so fast they produce too much heat to effectively cool,
leading to CPU developers needing to design new cooling systems or a new way of making
transistors entirely. Another hurdle for CPU developers is that as the transistors become smaller
and smaller, quantum tunneling takes place, and a semiconductor becomes just a conductor,
allowing power all of the time. A possible solution being quantum computing.Quantum computing
involves the bits used in storing data being individual atoms. It s theorized that such computing
techniques could be used to simulate complex chemical processes and increase the accuracy of
atomic clocks. We ve seen where CPUs have come from, we ve seen where they are, now we have
the chance to see where they will go, and the extraordinary heights they will

The Story of Vlad the Impaler s Life
Are you a fan of Vampires or Dracula? I am so I did some research on them, that, and I was told
to. My essay is over the very first vampire Vlad Dracula or more commonly today Vlad the
Impaler. Yes this is going to take a while so hold tight. Vlad was born in Transylvania a very long
time ago. He was a prince of Wallachia for many, many years. He was well known for what he
did to the enemy during the battles he fought in. Vlad was a highly feared person. He was the
over taker of many lands, and villages. Vlad Dracula was a dastardly man who in this seriously
long essay I will explain everything I have the knowledge of. Let s Begin. Vlad Dracula was
born to Vlad Dracul and his mother was a beautiful young Moldavian princess, her name was lost
in history. He was born in the year 1431 in the country of Sighisoara, Transylvania. He was born
a prince for his father was from a family of princes in Wallachia (Goldberg Itzkowitz pg. 18), and
of course his mother being a princess helped. His name Dracula means little dragon, or little
devil . His father was a knight of Emperor Sigismund. Vlad lived near the front line of defense for
this reason alone. When Vlad was about either 12 or 13 he and his brother Radu were traded to
the Turks by their father as hostages as to keep the treaty of peace between the two countries from
ever being broken. While they were hostages the Turks taught them science and mathematics, and
by the end of the four years they were

Apparel Brands And Stereotypes
Over the years, many different sports apparel companies have opened. For example Nike,
Reebok, Adidas, Under Armour, Puma, Oakley, New balance and the list goes on. Most of the
ads created by all these sports clothes brands have to do with overcoming nature or passing your
peak and pushing through to pass your own best by wearing their apparel. Sports clothes ads
have been following a trend of inspiring people to go past their best and go beyond their limits.
Basically to declare how you are making yourself to people everywhere. In these set of ads, I m
analyzing companies portray their apparel as to make you invincible to where nature can t even
stop you. Nike has been one of the top companies for sports clothes for a long time now.... Show

The obstacles being nature in each and every single one of the ads. They show that nature no
longer is an obstacle that will impede or prolong the vision or goal that you have set for yourself.
Ultimately the ads show that you can make yourself invincible whichever way or angle you look
at them from. They are showing that American culture is focusing more on just oneself.
Everything is centered around oneself and their goal. It is leaning towards you only need
yourself to accomplish what you want. You don t need anyone else to help you get to your goal.
I do not believe this idea because you need God to help you achieve things in life. Through him
is the only way to truly achieve the goals that you have but that is not shown in any of these ads
in the slightest. To a degree, I can understand why they would make these ads in this way. I
believe they made these ads like this purely on their own sales. The reason being is because if
they did it hinting at God they would make it one sided to only people who follow God which
would limit their sales. They had to make it neutral to try and maximize sales. I do also believe
that they didn t have to make the ads to the point where it is so focused on oneself that you loose
sight of everything else. Overall these ads were too focused on just oneself and what you

The Characteristics Of Crossword Puzzles And Dementia
Crossword Puzzles and Dementia
It is often said that puzzles do many good things for the brain. They are challenging and force
people to actively think. With the rise of dementia in America, public interest in finding a cure or
prevention method has increased. Scientist and academics are now constantly attempting to solve
the issue. A hypothesis that many of them have, is that doing cognitive stimulating activities will
prevent the onset of dementia. There have been several studies on crossword puzzles and whether or
not they can prevent cognitive decline. Their popularity in society combined with their accessibility
and low cost have made them a point of interest. Despite numerous studies, scientists haven t been

What To Do?
There are two different claims: it helps fight dementia and it doesn t help fight dementia. Each side
has compelling arguments and supporting evidence for their claims, which makes coming to a
conclusion about the issue quite difficult.
You can read and analyze the studies published and attempt to come to a conclusion yourself, but
doing this isn t easy. These studies are very complicated and it s the leading minds in the
researchers respective fields conducting the experiments. It may be difficult to understand and
properly analyze what they ve done to come to the conclusion they have.
Doing crossword puzzles may or may not help fight dementia. If it does help, then it s
recommended that you do them, of course. If they don t, then you don t have to do them in order
to maintain your cognitive abilities. The issue is that there is no clear answer. With that being said,
considering we don t know if cognitive training works, you should do brain training exercises like
crossword puzzles. The reason being is that there is no disadvantage in doing

Legalizing Marijuana Debate
Legalizing marijuana has become a controversial and highly debated topic. More specifically, the
question under investigation is will the taxation of marijuana provide relief for our Connecticut s
budget crisis and shortfalls. Legalizing marijuana has been a topic of conversation more and more
as the year s pass. First, it started off with decriminalizing marijuana to provide relief to the justice
system. Recently there have several states, including Colorado, Washington, and Oregon who have
legalized the use and sale of marijuana to provide revenue for the state. It is anticipated that
Colorado marijuana taxwill yield more than $140 million in 2016 (Ekins and Henchman, 2016).

The Leatherstocking Tales Character Analysis
Oceans ever turning, rivers ever rushing, wind ever blowing, and lakes ever placid. Nature
stands with all of it s raw, unforgiving beauty dunting over mankind, not afraid to show its
untapped strength. There is a sheltering quality to this deception, as can be best described
through the novel series written by James F. Cooper. The Leatherstocking Tales develop an ideal
environment for the emergence of one of the first American heros. Cooper created his character,
Hawkeye, as a hero that was able to personally embody the conflicts that early America was
facing in the 1750 s, even though the series was written nearly a decade later. The seclusion and
peacefulness of nature create an environment able to harbor inner conflicts, parallel to the inner
conflicts experienced within James F. Cooper s character, Hawkeye, as he struggles with the
colliding cultures of the Native Americans and Western civilization. Nature, in all its glory, is
known for being able to disguise the truth. This is included in literature all throughout history,
whether it be the ever rolling ocean that conceals the fate of a infamous whaler, or the mist coverd
trees that seal in the chaos that harbors beneath them. Upon the murder of a Native American,
Hawkeye reflects aopn how lake was an unchristened sheet of water that veiled the darkness that
hid beneath. The whole scene was radiant with beauty, and yet it was the sight of countless ruthless
and barbaric acts ( Deerslayer , Chapter 7). This

Standardized Testing Is A Crucial Part Of Today s Federal...
Standardized testing is a crucial part of today s federal education structure; one that is both highly
supported and criticized at all levels. The main point of this roundtable, and the chosen excerpts
from the authors on the subject, is to discern and debate both the necessity of and the role that
multiple choicetesting plays in teaching history. This subject is relevant to us as history teachers
because it opens up the floor for discussions about the need to either continue, reform, or completely
scrap multiple choice testing from the history standard of secondary educationin today s society.
The discussions for this roundtable are stationed around six excerpts from different history
education scholars. The centerpiece of this discussion, at least from my interpretation, is a piece
from a retired history department head of Princeton University named Theodore K. Rabb. The
excerpt of his writing details a more negative critique of multiple choice testing from the history
aspect of public education. Rabb explains that the teach to the test mentality of multiple choice
examinations is an inherent failure; due to the fact that there are so many different aspects of
history to teach. He states that teachers should be able to teach students on the different historical
aspects that interest them as educators, while still following a core structured timeline, instead of
having to follow a strict package of historical tidbits for a test. Rabb then explains that multiple

The Bank Of England Credit Report
Finical markets are needed to transfer funds from someone who has surplus funds to those who
needs money which has our economy expand and grow. The worlds focus has remained on the
financial position of the economy since the 2007 finical crash, many people and business are
still very cautious despite the improvements within consumer credit as banks are lending more
people money for mortgages but also businesses are starting to receive loans to set up business
as well. It is clear to see from the Bank of England Credit report that there have been
improvements for household and businesses but the economy has to improve a lot more to reach
the pre recession level. However it could be argued that with the improvement, many problems
will arise. For example when people become more confident moral hazard and information
asymmetry will cause problems in all sectors of the economy. Household Credit Conditions The
Bank of England credit conditions review shows that the number of people who are borrowing
against their assets, which is known as secure lending, has increased. The stock of secure
lending has increased to 3.5% on a three month basis since November 2015, but it has annually
increased from 2013 to 2015 by 2.5%. UK households have seen the benefit of this as mortgage
approvals have increased to 70,000 per month from September to November in 2015. The growth
rates on secured lending for UK households have been at their highest since 2008. However the
average remains below

The Structural Failure Of The Rana Plaza Collapse Essay
Introduction:
Bangladesh is one of the world s most densely populated countries, with its people crammed into
a delta of rivers that empties into the Bay of Bengal (BBC, 2015). Poverty is widespread, where
many people suffer from malnutrition, especially in the rural areas. The structural failure of the
Rana Plaza collapse, an eight story commercial building, occurred on 24 April 2013 in the Savar
Upazila of Dhaka, Bangladesh. This resulted in 1,137 confirmed dead at Rana Plaza, and over a
year later 200 are still missing (Institute for Global Labour and Human Rights, 2015). The issue is
an ethical issue which has affected many lives in Bangladesh and resulted in western civilisation
demanding change. The ethical issue involves around a Bangladesh man Sohel Rana, and western
clothing companies, specifically the company it manufactured for, Canadian fashion brand Joe
Fresh (Forbes, 2013). The building, Rana Plaza, was owned by Sohel Rana, whom illegally
extended the six storey building, into a nine storey factory complex.
Ethics:
Ethics are principles of behaviour that distinguish between right and wrong. Resnik (2011)
defines ethics as a method, procedure, or perspective for deciding how to act and for analysing
complex problems and issues (p.1). People face ethical decisions; however, People working in
business frequently face ethical decisions. Business ethics is the evaluation of business activities
and behaviour as right or wrong (Society for Business Ethics, 1991).

Essay on Honor in Henry IV
Honour in Henry IV Honor is one of those concepts that is seldom defined. One s reputation is
based on his or her honor, integrity, honesty, and purity. William Shakespeare s Henry IV is a one
of his many plays that deal with the varying ideas of honor, as well as issues of courage, loyalty,
and ambition, interposing examples of dishonor, weakness, and the deceitful plots among both the
drunkards and noblemen. Shakespeare utilizes suggestive metaphors to create illusions, imagery,
and to reinforce the different views of the major issues people were faced with in his time and in
ours. His plays often focus on the imagery, either on some obvious important symbol, or some
image pattern that recurs throughout the work. Readers are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

King Henry IV must also contend with his son, Prince Hal, who s not the honorable prince he
had hoped him to be. He feels it is an honorable spoil not to have a son who is the theme of honor
s tongue, when he learns of Northumberland s son Hotspur s victories, which, should be a
conquest for a prince to boast of (1.1.74,80, 76). Pangs of jealousy strike Henry s heart caused by
the differences between his son and Northumberland s. So much so, he wishes it could be
proved that someone, or something, had exchanged in cradle clothes, their sons at birth (1.1.85
87). Act one, scene one, stresses the motif of honor in war, in characters, and, most importantly,
in offspring. However, while Henry sees riot and dishonor in his son, Hal sees a father who has
stolen his title by disgracing a king (1.1.84). Shakespeare wouldn t dream of imposing his
personal beliefs of who is honorable or who is dishonorable for the simple fact that it is obvious
honor is perceived differently by each individual, as in each character s perception and the imagery
that surrounds that character. As Hal tries to discover the true meaning of honor, readers take the
journey along with him. Hal realizes that honor is ambiguous when utilized to plead for emotional
retort, yet leaves no margin for error when used as personal description, Yet herein will I imitate the

Asian American Self Regulation
Similarly, Iyengar and Lepper (1999) examined the cultural differences on children s self regulation.
They compared European American and Asian American on their self regulation. The participants
could either make their own choices on the features of the task or assigned by their authority figures
or peers. They found that European American were less motivated when they were doing the task
that was assigned by someone else. In contrast, Asian American preferred to the task that was
chosen by their trusted peoples more. This suggested that the level of self regulation were different
between European American and Asian American.
Different cultures have different practices of teaching children. These differences cause a
discrepancy in the way of self regulation. Hence, cultural factors may predict children s ability to
self regulate.
Human beings are social animals and easily influenced by the surrounding environment. As
mentioned before, newborn infants direct experiences are limited, so their interactive caregivers
and the environment mainly affect their self regulations.

  • 5. Loss Of Innocence In The Handmaid s Tale Coming into college I had an established belief system. I had asked myself extremely tough questions about life, the purpose of humanity, etc.; and because I am completely aware that I have blind spots I invited others to ask me tough questions as well. My innate desire to unveil truth was executed in a manner similar to the technique that John Milton advocates for in his novel Areopagitica, in regard to purity being a product of trial. I have always established my convictions on the basis of my beliefs being able to withstand trials, because truthcan be put on trial repeatedly, but if it is really true there will always be a verdict of innocence. This court metaphor alludes to truth always being true, because if it is really truth there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Offred s character revealed an interesting part of the human situation, and that is that we possess a desire for some sense of stability and comfort in our situation regardless of if it is a large amount or small. In the midst of Offred s unfortunate situation it becomes evident that her transition from her previous life to her current situation has included a loss of freedom and power. Her lack of control and her awareness of it is evident, and we see that her response to this is striving to find control, power, and stability in anything that she can. The reader gets a glimpse of this when Offred admits to feeling empowered by acquiring the sympathy of the commander and taunting the guards with her hips; she also finds comfort and a sense of stability in her relationship with Nick. Offred s behavior reveals an intimate human quality and that is the desire to have a form of control over our lives and decisions, even when that is not necessarily the case. For example if a child has to go stay two weeks in Wisconsin with family members they do not like and they don t have a choice. The child would be upset, but a way to ease the anger would be to give them the opportunity to choose their form of transportation train, plane, car, etc. This makes them feel a little better because they are getting to control something, yet it doesn t change the fact that they are still required to go to Wisconsin and they have no control in that. Sometimes when we are faced with a situation where we really have no choice, if we can find a way to trick ourselves into thinking we do have a choice our situation becomes more bearable. This is a result of us believing that we have some form of control, and this concept is present in Offred s character throughout the Handmaid s Taleand it also reveals a human quality that ... • 6. A Study On Seismic Wave CHAPTER 2 REVIEW OF LITRETURE 2.1 Introduction Most of today s producing naturally fractured reservoirs were discovered accidentally, they were found by somebody who are looking for some other type of reservoir. Significant volume of hydrocarbon resides in these reservoirs. But these are abandoned particularly in fields because improper testing and evolution or because the wells did not intersect the natural fractures (Aguilera, 1998). Attempts have been made to quantify properties of such reservoir (Chaki et al., 2014). It has been long recognized that the presence of naturally occurring fracture network can lead to unpredictable heterogeneity and anisotropy within many reservoirs. In past geophysicists acquired and processed P wave reflection data at short offset, which automatically implied relatively small angular ray coverage. So seismic anisotropy, which is defined as directional dependence of elastic properties of earth remains unnoticed. But with the advance of methodologies, acquiring long offset and multi component data become feasible and cost effective, anisotropy showed up. Seismic wave propagation in heterogeneous medium is discussed by Chabak et al., 2012. On a smaller scale, stresses in the Earth can cause rock to fracture in a consistent manner. If these fractures are aligned, the rock will be anisotropic with the fast direction parallel to the fractures and the slow direction perpendicular to them. In ideal cases, these observations can provide ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Maagdalena And Mary Magdalene This reference to Mary Magdalene is implicitly referencing the individual painting however, it can also be seen as an explicit reference when you see the physical painting of Penitent Magdalene. He also addresses her as Magdalene which adds to the strength of the reference. This reference is a strong biblical reference that can have a variety of interpretations although it can be argued that Caravaggio loved her so much because he wishes that he could repent for his sins. He had a troubled life when he was younger and there were a lot of mistakes that he made when he was younger that he is not proud of. He is also a presumed homosexual and although homosexuality was very prominent in nobility and among patrons who took advantage of Caravaggio, homosexuality was deemed unnatural and therefore must remain hidden. A significant difference between the historical Mary Magdaleneand Lena is the difference in their life before repentance and their life after. Mary Magdalene was a repentant prostitute who was asking for forgiveness for her choice of lifestyle and her sins. She was claimed to have found a new life in the way of christ and leave behind a life of luxury and sinin order to cleanse herself in the way of the savior JesusChrist. Lena s reasoning for repentance is different, she is moving away from her life of sin and prostitution in order to raise her baby with a wealthy man and live a life of grandeur. This idea is interesting because it presents the question of why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The country is so poor that they had no other option than to sell of their railroads, mines, oil and gas fields, electric companies and so much more (Hennigan). Yet, Bolivias economy had not gotten any better. The government of Bolivia asked the World Bank what should be done (Shultz). The bank encouraged Bolivia s government to continue to sell their resources to foreign companies because doing so opens the door to needed investment into the country (Shultz). Bolivia did just that. They government sold Cochabamba s water in 1999 (Murdock). The buyer was a Aguas del Tunari, a division in a company called... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bolivian government was suited for $25 million by Aguas del Tunari for a reimbursement (Murdock). The World Bank claimed Bechtel had done wrong by raises the water rates (Murdock). Then again, the World Bank believed that poor governments are often too plagued by local corruption and too ill equipped to run public water systems efficiently (Shultz). The government tried to cover up the issue by saying that the reason the people of Cochabamba started the riots was because of losing drug money (The Democracy Center). Specifically, the money the government lost from selling coca, a good they sold to the United States that produced cocaine (Murdock). That was not the problem though. Officials also said that any military forced used was to protect the people of Cochabamba (The Democracy Center). This was another complete lie they told the media. • 9. Analysis Of The Movie Trainspotting The movie Trainspotting, released in the July of 1996, depicts a group of heroin addicts and their peers eking out an existence in 1980 s Edinburgh, Scotland. Based on a 1993 book of the same name by Irvine Welsh, the movie was a commercial success as well as critical one. It is ranked as the 10th best British movie of All Time by the British Film Institute in 1999 (Best 100 British Films). When the book was published Welsh was condemned for glamorizing heroinabuse, to which he responded that he was only depicting what was going on, what he knew, and who he knew. The book and the movie mirror the reality of the creation of an underclass in Edinburgh in the late 1970 s and 1980 s. Historically opiates have been a part of Edinburgh since the late 1600 s. After heroin was synthesized and began being used as a painkiller in 1894 Edinburgh became the capital of opiate production as discussed in an article from The Guardian in 2009. The article quotes Michael Fry as saying By the end of the 19th century, writes Fry, Edinburgh produced most of the world s opiate drugs, heroin included. (Edemariam and Scott) In the 1980 s however the situation changed dramatically. Cheaper heroin from South Asia became readily available which was met with a growing receptive audience. The same outsourcing that created the US Rust Belt and condemned Detroit to become a shadow of former self was felt in Scotland as well. So when that influx of drugs came in the early 80 s it was met with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Smallwood s Middle Passage Smallwood s, like Taylor s, qualitative analysis is based on white sources as none where written by the slaves themselves. However, Smallwood is able to get over this hurdle by comparing her archival findings with the cultural, social, and political features of the societies of the Gold Coast. Interestingly, Smallwood relates the experience of the Middle Passage with African cultural notions of cosmology and funeral rights and rituals. Her approach is refreshing as she is not simply interested in the quantity of slaves brought to market through the middle passage, but rather, she is interested in the experience of the middle passage and how that experience turned Africans into slaves. Smallwood s goal is to bring the people aboard slave ships to life as subjects in American social history. Her goal is one of agency, and is an important and critical goal of any social history. Smallwood traces the transformation, step by step, of Africans to slaves. The human being is central to this transformation. Businesses is one of the reasons a country is wealthy or not. They meet the basic needs and the luxuries of everyday life. Though there are a lot of sole proprietor businesses in America, we also have a fairly large sum of international business. International businesses have barriers and trade agreements in order to make them more successful. In order to have a good international business, you need some basic strategies. One of them is to Build a broader customer base ( International Business Strategies ). If you accomplish this, then you will have more people paying for your product. That s a higher demand for whatever you are selling, which causes you to have more profits and the ability to expand your business. If you expand, you will need to hire more workers and that helps out the entire economy. Another strategy is Lower production costs by using lower priced labor abroad ( International Business Strategies ). This helps lower your overall costs and helps you lower the market price for your item so more people can buy it. That would increase demand and profits, having the same effect as the previous strategy. If you don t want to lower the market price, it s simply a bigger profit for you for every item you sell. If you were to lower the prices, it would give you an edge against the other international businesses in the particular field. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION Although much of the blame for the Troubles in Northern Ireland has fallen on the IRA as a terrorist group, the British government was responsible for numerous acts of state terrorism in the period. As a result of their frustration towards the situation in the North and their desperation to stop the IRA from wreaking havoc, the British Armyand police acted in ways that one would not expect from the representatives of a world power in the late twentieth century. The British government refused to recognize the legitimacy of the IRA, and instead of combating them as a military enemy, often resorted to acts of terrorismof their own. Years of British occupation and oppression led to a sustained campaign to regain freedom from Britain beginning in the early twentieth century. Both the loyalist (supporters of the Union with Britain) and the republicans (supporters of a united Ireland) were willing to use violence for their cause. This took form in the 1916 Easter Rising, where Irish rebels declared the independence of the Irish Republic and fought in Dublin against the British to regain control of their homeland. The rebels were unsuccessful and were forced to surrender. This lead to the later Irish War of Independence, and the introduction of the Government of Ireland Act in 1920 and the Anglo Irish Treaty of 1921, which resulted in the partitioning of Ireland into six counties in the North ruled by Britain and twenty six counties in the south, newly named the Irish Free State. However, a significant minority in the North of around forty percent were Irish nationalists who wanted independence from Britain. Therefore, from its creation in 1920, Northern Ireland was a state whose citizens differed over their national allegiance. This situation in the North caused a great deal of tension, as the leaders of the Protestant, unionist majority discriminated against the Catholic, nationalist minority. So, by the 1960s, Catholic nationalist frustration was manifested in a campaign for civil rights, to which the state responded with vicious intensity. Those who were ... Symbolism In The Birthmark By Nathaniel Hawthorne Nathaniel Hawthorne, in his short story The Birthmark (written and published prior to 1843), contains the element of symbolism to present the theme of personal beauty, regardless of physical appearance. God made every individual perfect, and made it very clear that man not need go tampering with the beauty, inner or external, that God gave someone at the moment of their birth birth. Another example would be when Aminabad looked at Georgiana with the identity given to her, not the identity her husband wants for her . ...Aminadab, looking intently at the lifeless form of Georgiana; and then he muttered to himself, If she were my wife, I d never part with that birthmark. On the play, Bautista was initially ruled safe. However, after replay review, the call was changed to a game ending double play. • 32. Dehumanization In The Book Night By Elie Wiesel There are people crowded, shoulder to shoulder, expecting a shower and to feel water raining down their bodies. Sighs of relief turn into screams of terror as innocent people are gasping for their last breaths of air inside of the gas chamber. This was a daily occurrence for Jewish and other people involved in the Holocaust. This was just one horrific event of many that had happened to women, men and children. Some of the survivors have used their voice to speak out about their own background during their time spent in Auschwitz and other concentration camps. • 33. Discretionary Access Control (DAC) Discretionary Access Control (DAC) Computer security is important in every organization. It covers several areas such as locking the computer room and the computer itself, protecting login accounts with passwords, encrypting network communication lines and use of file protection among others. Whitman (2011) points out that computer system security ensures that your computer does what it is supposed to, even if the users do what they should not do. Discretionary Access Control (DAC) is a type of access controls that provides protection to the files in a computer system. This type of control restricts access to files based on the identity of users or groups which they belong. It is discretionary and lets you tell the computer system who can have access to your files and therefore you can specify the type of access allowed. For example, you can allow anyone to read a particular file in the system, but allow only you to be able to change it. According to Whitman (2011), this type of control access is rarely used with high security systems because someone with permission to access files is able to pass that permission either directly or indirectly on to any other person. This capability poses a threat to the security of the files and can be dangerous to a high security system. An organization that requires high security, but the operating system only supports DAC, can compensate with the use of an Access Control List (ACL). Haldar (2010) defines ACL as a list which denotes which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. A Report On Agriculture And Horticulture Class Introduction On the 15/03/16 our year 12 agriculture and horticulture class went on a trip to a local dairy goat farm. This is a 40 hectare farm on sandy loam soil which houses 1100 goats, all goats are kept in door and all food is made on site and bought to them along with their water. Only about 700 goats are being milked. These goats are milked on a rotary milk parlour, which is one of two in the country. There were 3 full time staff working and the manager. We asked the manager many questions to assist us with our internal. The answers were occasionally a bit brief due to the owner only taking over the farm about a month ago, but we received the necessary information. A guided tour took place with the owner and a full time employee. Which included us looking at the housing systems, feeding systems, the composting procedure, Milking shed and other relevant information such as the restrictions they have. Soil Impacts Having good soil structure is very important for all types of farming. To constantly provide quality feed soil with a good tilth and with plenty of nutrients is required. This is achieved by collecting urine and dung from the milk shed and is collected in ponds. The liquid is drained away and are processed through 3 screens then drained into a holding tank ready to be spread on the farm. While this process is taking place the original solids are scraped away and placed into a bay with a weeping wall to drain the excess water. Once most water has been drained ... In fact, it wasn t until this class that I discovered all the approaches there were in music therapy. I always knew that I was interested in working with a population of children however this was an entire new depth level. Of all the interesting approaches, several stood out to me as ones that fit me personally and the career I want to pursue. Neurological Music Therapy When I first started learning about this approach I shied away from it as it sounded too technical and scientific. However the more we touched on it, the more intrigued I became. I am definitely a list person and so one of my skills is that I am very good at following specific instruction and making specific goals that lead to an outcome which is very present in NMT. Many of the techniques in NMT are very specifically laid out on how to follow through with them to get to the next step (ex. Melodic Intonation Therapy). I am very aware and 100% support the notion that process always overrules progress, however, I feel like it would feel rewarding to work in an approach that is evidence where you could very clearly see what you are working on and the goals you are reaching. Although I am not entirely uneducated on the topic and would further my education further if I decided to go into the field, the science side of this therapy probably would not be a strong suit of mine and so I ... • 36. Nt1320 Unit 8 This project is about analyzing the voice signals and computing the MFCC i.e (Mel frequency Cepstral Coefficient) and the VQ (Vector Quantisation) to be carried out. So, as you can see there are nine steps carried out in here. The first one is about taking our own voice signal and storing that in the database. So, this step is basically the most vital of all because we as human beings can distinguish and recognize each other s voice. For ex. If four of us speak in a group we can easily distinguish who spoke first and who finished at the last. Now, for a computer to distinguish individual voice signals are not an easy task as everyone has their own frequency of speech. Therefore this analyzing of the voice signals is only possible by computing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, now collectively organizing all the data points and using them for comparison purposes is quite hectic. So, what we do we use VQ. You can see the red circles and the speaker 1 and the crosses and for the speaker 2 and both of the data points don t coincide. What we are using here for matching is vector quantization. Likewise let me show you vector quantization code word. Let me show you the user database in which my friend s voice is stored. As you can see the crosses show the speaker 5 points and the delta shows the centroid values. Now how can we calculate the centroid values is the main function here. Now what we have done we calculate the mean and it is splitted in two parts and orthogonal to the two parts a line is drawn and the mean is calculated for both the areas and the process goes on and on an in the end for comparison purposes these centroid values their distances are calculated and those found with the minimum distances their match is found with the user. Likewise here for speaker 4 and 5 are shown where red crosses and blue crosses represent the signals of the speakers and similarly for these speakers the centroid values and mean are calculated and minimum distance is found ... Without knowledge of HTML and CSS it would seem impossible, and for the average person, that used to be true. That is until the creation of self publishing/content management systems(CMS) like WordPress(WP). WP was originally created as new blogging platform in 2003. It was based on an older, and soon to be defunct, platform called b2/cafelog. Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little were the founding developers of WP and sought to take on the platform leader Moveable Type. Now WP powers around 20% of all websites. These aren t just personal blogs, but corporate news and business sites as well. What makes WP desirable to is the cost, and ease of use. WP is open source, so the software is free to use with any hosting providers (as of 2017 only providers that offer an SSL will be able to offer WP with their hosting). Ease of use comes in the form of using the dashboard to publish content, and style the website. This is ideal for someone that has no knowledge of HTML, CSS, or JavaScript. In Things Fall Apart Okwonkwo was told to kill Ikemefuna, the village boy who has become like a son to him. The religous allusion refers to the Last Supper when Abraham was ordered to kill his son Isaac by god. Okwonkwo in Things Fall Apart is playing Abraham and the Oracle is the god who orders him to do so. It is marked by two age group crests ; the first of which can be seen between the ages of 60 to 69, and the second crest can be seen peaking between ages 40 to 44. The Statistics Bureau of Japan estimates that the population of people over the age of 65 comprises 25.8 per cent of the total population of the country currently, and as the second age crest reaches retirement age in the next 20 years, the ratio of people over 65 will reach a new high. This will not only be the result of this second crest being larger in scale relative to younger generations, but also because life expectancy in Japan is currently at 85 (The World Bank Group) and projected to rise to 87 in the next decade, meaning that these crests will need to be supported by the working population simultaneously. This aging generation is not inherently negative for the economy, of course. The other aspects of Japanese demographic indicators are what makes this aging alarming and pose a serious danger to the future of the Japanese economy. While not the focus of this paper, it is worth discussing the population growth of Japan. Nature stands with all of it s raw, unforgiving beauty dunting over mankind, not afraid to show its untapped strength. There is a sheltering quality to this deception, as can be best described through the novel series written by James F. Cooper. The Leatherstocking Tales develop an ideal environment for the emergence of one of the first American heros. Cooper created his character, Hawkeye, as a hero that was able to personally embody the conflicts that early America was facing in the 1750 s, even though the series was written nearly a decade later. The seclusion and peacefulness of nature create an environment able to harbor inner conflicts, parallel to the inner conflicts experienced within James F. This subject is relevant to us as history teachers because it opens up the floor for discussions about the need to either continue, reform, or completely scrap multiple choice testing from the history standard of secondary educationin today s society. The discussions for this roundtable are stationed around six excerpts from different history education scholars. The centerpiece of this discussion, at least from my interpretation, is a piece from a retired history department head of Princeton University named Theodore K. Rabb. The excerpt of his writing details a more negative critique of multiple choice testing from the history aspect of public education. Rabb explains that the teach to the test mentality of multiple choice examinations is an inherent failure; due to the fact that there are so many different aspects of history to teach. He states that teachers should be able to teach students on the different historical aspects that interest them as educators, while still following a core structured timeline, instead of having to follow a strict package of historical tidbits for a test.
