The Important Aspects Of Effective Nursing
Communication is one of the most important aspects in effective nursing. For a nurse to be
successful, communicating with patients, families, physicians, peers and ancillary departments is
necessary. Communication is not only verbal with language, words and sound, but also non verbal.
Non verbal behaviors such as touch, facial expressions, eye contactand movement, posture and
silence make up more than half of the art of communication(Giger, 2013). The population in the
United States is comprised of various cultures with different views of the meaning of non verbal
communication. Understanding the views of various cultures can create a positive and healing
environment for the patient, as well as increase patient and employee satisfaction (Starr Wallace,
2011).
Many patients feel comforted by touch; a hand on the shoulder can help to alleviate fear in the
hospital setting. Many cultures from Latin America, Spain and France are extremely affectionate
and communicate through touch (Giger, 2013). These cultures often share kisses on the cheek,
hugs and handshakes when greeting one another. As a nurse, I have experienced the embrace of a
family from Mexico showing appreciation for taking care of their loved one. It is important to
understand that other patients with different cultural backgrounds such as those from Germany and
England, might find this type of physical contact invasive and inappropriate (Giger, 2013).
Therefore, it is important for the nurse to understand the

What Is Saul s Impact On Residential School Life
In my opinion, I do believe Saul s experience at the residential school will have a significant
impact on his future. A survivor of past family struggles, will he turn out the same way? A
survivor who was abused in schools, will he be able to live the expectations of a parent? Or a
survivor who was traumatized with the Catholic church and the white race, won t he/she hate them?
It is Saul s future that will be affected.
Firstly, Saul s parents experienced the residential schools and went crazy. There is a chance of this
occurring to Saul also. After his parents had left the school, they went into depression and resorted
to drinking. This is an example of what can happen after Saul leaves the school. During the years of
residential schools, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, some of them were controlled by the Catholic religion. Before the school, he was
frightened of white men but didn t know much about Catholics. The only true time he saw what
it was like was his parents. His parents had no hate for the church but were most traumatized by
it. Saul now is seeing all the abuse and how wrong they teach the aboriginals about the Catholic
religion can cause a hate against Catholics and the white race. To this day, Aboriginals have had
problems with white people and their politics. Because of past history with white men, for
example, The Oka Crisis the aboriginals had a conflict with white people. The schools have also
brought the Aboriginals to have a hate for the white men. It is possible that Saul will have a hate
for them too. A quote from the book says, In what seemed like an instant, the world I had known
was replaced by an ominous black cloud. (47) This quote represented how Saul felt in the school
after the first day. He had already thought he was in a different world, that isn t like the one he
had. Him saying this can cause a hate for white men for taking him from the world he loved. The
school took away his friends, his family, and most importantly it will try to take his culture and
replace it, so in the future, he is no longer an Indian. Once he truly realizes he could have a

The Culture of the Pueblo Long before what is known as today s civilization and even longer
before technology had shown its face, the now United States of America was majority, if not
entirely, populated by the Native Americans. Amongst the various well known Native American
tribes, the Pueblo may very well be the most diverse. From their philosophical views on how our
world came to be to their days on end labor in the fields to provide for their people, Puebloans
were, or rather are, a very unique breed. Over the course of time, many stories (or tall tales) were
told from generation to generation. May they be relating to the creation of mankind or how the
earth itself came to be, all of which plays a key role in the Pueblo tribe s culture,

OBTAINING and RECORDING PHYSICAL EVIDENCE
When it comes to identifying people that have committed a criminal act, the most positive means is
through fingerprints. When we are born, our fingerprints stay with us until we die and our bodies
start decomposing. To the human eye our fingerprints look the same, however, further investigation
will show that each of us have a unique set of friction ridges that comprise our fingerprints and sets
our identity apart from each other. At a crime scene, there are two different types of fingerprints that
may be found. Patent prints are visible to the human eye. Latent prints are unintentional prints
found on items of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the bi chromatic powder is used on dark surfaces it will look light and it will show up
dark on light surfaces. The best rule for processing latent prints using powder is to use less
lifting powder than you think you are going to need. Many latent prints can be ruined by over
processing with powder. David suggests give the print powder jar a quick shake before opening
the lid then goes on to say remove the lid and place the fingerprint brush inside the lid (Spraggs,
2007). The lid will retain enough powder to start processing the latent print. A precise amount of
pressure applied while spinning the brush will produce a good print with good ridge detail. He
mentions that too much powder will fill the ridges and over process the print and too little will
not produce enough, keeping in mind that too much contact between the brush and the print will
damage the print. Once the print has been developed it is time to begin lifting the print. Lifting
tape comes in a variety of widths and compositions. General lifting tape is used on flat surfaces
and polyethylene tape is great for curved surfaces like door knobs. An important key in applying
the tape is to keep it evenly and as smooth as possible. David suggests using a credit card to

What Is Miss Maudie s Role In To Kill A Mockingbird
The Chameleon Lady The great American classic To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
features the inner workings of a young girl s mind as she recounts a story from her youth. Adult
presence in the novel is confined to her impressions of adults and their actions, giving Miss
Maudie Atkinson a key role in providing adult perspectives on certain events. However, to
properly understand Miss Maudie s role in Scout s story, one must first become familiar with her
character. One of the most prevalent remarks Scout makes about Miss Maudie is her ability to
blend into any given situation, be it the garden or the front porch. This chameleon lady behaviour
was accomplished both by her attire and by her demeanor. When Miss Maudie is busily tending
to her garden, she works in a straw hat and overalls but, once done with her flowerbeds, she would
re emerge from the house, sit or stand on the porch and reign over the street in magisterial beauty .

Whereas other neighbours may be annoyed that rambunctious kids are constantly using their
front yard as a playground or occasionally eating their scuppernongs, Miss Maudie allows this
behaviour (if they stay away from her azaleas). Not only does she know when and how to deal
with children, Miss Maudie seems to have a better understanding of why children act the way
they do. However, although Miss Maudie is featured as a proud Southern woman, she is not as
completely entrenched in the culture of the South as other women are. This Is shown by her
actions after the fire. Rather than sending for a Negro slave to clean up her yard, she herself does
the work, much to the confusion of Jem and

The Problem Of Organized Crime Essay
Organized crime is a major problem around the world and only grows larger as time goes on.
They increase in size and influence daily and become more of a threat to anyone who has the
displeasure of interacting with them. These gangs, as they re often called, deal in weapons,
drugs, and human trafficking, selling means to kill people, ruin their lives, or just plainly sell
people. Unfortunately actions such as these are commonplace nowadays among gangs as they
become more and more ruthless. We need to rid ourselves of gangs, that much is clear.
However, nowadays we re not in a position to do so. Everyone in the country needs to understand
the dangers of gangs and how they can grow anywhere despite law enforcement. Because it s not
the police that can do away with gangs for good, it s the citizen s responsibility to ensure these
gangs never grow and prosper. A problem facing the common citizen regarding this problem is
their perception of gangs, how they view gangs and how they think gangs operate. To the average
person when they think of a gang, they think of some teenagers smoking on a street corner
brandishing knives. And while that s partially true, it s very far from the whole truth. When it
comes to organized crime, there is no one type of gang, there different types of gangs varying in
their size, influence, and how dangerous they are. At the bottom of the food chain is the street
gangs consisting of a few dozen members at most and, like the name implies, they

Section One: Chain Model
1.
I would like to make an oversized throw quilt for my daughter as a birthday gift.
2.
a) choose a quilt pattern, b) decide on a color palette and fabric, c) cut out fabric pieces, d) sew
pieces together, add batting and quilt back, e) send to quilter, and f) bind quilt to finish.
3.
In order to accomplish this project for my daughter I will need $205 to cover the costs of supplies
and quilter s fee. It will take approximately 18 hours for my labor and one hour for the quilters to
finish the quilt. The space in my schedule is limited and my daughter s birthday is four weeks
away, so the 18 hours will be divided into 6 hours per weekend for a total of three weekends.

We have been approved for a vehicle loan of $15,000 with a two percent interest rate through the
local credit union, which would make our payments $232 per month. It is very important we find
a dealership in our community that has a great reputation. This dealership also needs a service
department to assist us with any future mechanical needs. The vehicles will need a CARFAX
report available to give a detailed list of possible accidents, service record, number of owners, and
the states where the vehicle has been registered. This is the most important information needed to
make a good decision. 4.
This model allows us to choose based on what works best for our budget and our needs. There are
simple things such as paint color that are not as important as price and mileage. Over all we were
able to make the best choice since it was one we would be stuck with for a while.

Albatross Research Paper
Albatross secrets for energy efficient long distance flying An albatross crosses thousands of
kilometres of ocean during a single foraging trip. Once airborne the albatross does not flap its
wings and expends almost no energy through muscle use. For many years scientists have
wondered how the energy requirement for this foraging strategy is sustained. New work has now
uncovered the albatrosses secrets of flying for free. Figure 1 A recent study by Sachs et al used
Global Positioning System (GPS) data to go beyond merely observing the remarkable long distance
voyages to also describe the underlying flight dynamics. These are the first experimental results to

In the study the wind speed was estimated by interpolation between widely spaced measuring
points. Even better results might be achieved if GPS data was more tightly coupled to actual wind
speed. Another way to improve the study would be more detailed description of the very fine
adjustments of orientation to the wind that are used to optimise the flight. Could this be done by
flying a drone alongside an albatross to record precise wind speed and capture high definition visual
data? This would augment the understanding of dynamic soaring to survival value with insight to

The first is external: the challenge posed by its nuclear weapons program and the threat of
proliferation off the Korean Peninsula. The second is essentially but not wholly internal: the
challenge posed by the pending transfer of power in Pyongyang and potential for instability as
the process plays out. This complex reality underscores the need for balance and strategic
patience if the twin dangers of proliferation and instability on the peninsula are to be successfully
managed. In order to produce these changes in the policy, there must be a determination of the
ends/ goals, ways for achieving the goals, and means as the instruments and activities for
implementing ways. The history of the relationship between the United States and North Korea led
up to today s policy of dealing with North Korea through diplomatic channels. The U.S. helped to
divide the Korean peninsula at the end of World War II, and then waged war against North Korea
in the 1950s. Although the U.S. signed a peace agreement rather than a peace treaty with North
Korea after the war, its policy toward the country changed. Instead of trying to overthrow the North
Korea government, the U.S. government adopted a policy of containing communism. During the
1980 s, associations between North Korea and the U.S. start to take on a new diplomatic form.

Nurse empowerment Job Related Satisfaction, and Organizational Commitment
Rebecca Jordan
Georgetown University
TITLE
Nurse Empowerment Job Related Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment by Liisa
Kuokkanen, MNSc, RN; Helena Leino Kilip, PhD, RN; and Joukp Katajisto, MSSc is a well
written title that addresses the key variables such as: job satisfaction, nurse empowerment, and
organizational commitment; however, it could be more specific on what population of nurses the
study is addressing.
ABSTRACT
In the abstract, the researcher summarizes the main features such as the concept of empowerment
and the significant factors that influence it. The results of this quantitative study are also described
to be consistent with many other studies, finding that key elements to nurse empowerment are job
satisfaction and organization commitment.
INTRODUCTION
Statement of the problem The problem statement is clearly stated, to find what factors through a
quantitative study establish nurse empowerment. The problem statement does not establish a
pervasive reason for a new study. The researcher states that there is existing researchaddressing this
question and the existing evidence is consistent with this study s findings. The reasons for needing
this study to be done when there is already significant evidence is not explained. Nurse
empowerment has an impact on every area of nursing. It influences job

The Gas And Natural Gas
With reserves in 31 states, the US has a supply of natural gas large enough to provide the country
with energy for decades ( Gas Drilling: The Story So Far ). Access to these vast deposits is helping
to significantly decrease the United States reliance on foreign energy, as we have recently become
the largest natural gasproducer worldwide ( Hydraulic Fracturing Natural Gas and Oil
Development ). In addition to abundance, natural gas has several other benefits as well. Natural
gas emits only half as much carbon dioxide when burned than coal does, and currently the cost
per unit is only one third that of oil, giving it some clear advantages over other widely used fossil
fuels (Harvey, Hal). As stated by chairman of BP Capital T. Boone

Many of the additives on this list are known toxins, carcinogens, and volatile organic compounds
that are recognized for their ability to cause harm in the human body (Lustgarten, Abraham).
Colborn and her co authors went a step further to evaluate every chemical on the list in terms of
health effects, and the results were alarming. Although the effects were detrimental across the
board, Colborn found 71 chemicals that were associated with causing harm in 10 or more areas,
including the central nervous system, cardiovascular system, and reproductive systems. What is
even more concerning is that companies find a way to justify their use of harmful substances by
claiming that they make up only a small fraction of the injected fluid; less than one percent.
However, experts like Colborn believe that even a seemingly small percentage translates to tens of
thousands of gallons of these chemicals being pumped underground, and their research shows that
even very low doses of the compounds can cause significant damage (Lustgarten, Abraham). One of
the most prominent concerns regarding the toxicity of chemical additives lies in the threat of
groundwater contamination. Although a 2004 EPA study concluded that fracking poses no threat to
drinking water, the rising

Lake Colac Is Part Of The Corangamite Basin
Lake Colac is part of the Corangamite basin that was formed in the early Pleistocene and Tertiary
during the volcanic movement. Due to the volcanic commotion it had blocked the natural
outflow of Lake Colac s two tributaries, Dean s Creek and Barongarook Creek causing the rivers
to flow into the basin leaving muddy deposits (Williams 1992). Wind has also caused crescent
shaped dunes to form creating many shallow lakes and wetlands. The surface area of Lake Colac
is about 3,000 hectares and has the circumference of about 33km, which is relatively shallow
with an average depth of no more than 2.5 metres (Colac Otway Shire Council, 2002a). It has
very different areas of vegetation including the Otway hinterland forests, volcanic plains,
farmland and a number of urban settlements (Management of Environmental Quality 2005). It
has also been used by the Aboriginal people that goes back to at least 7000 calBP where they
could cross the lake in times of drought and the use of eel traps and remains of twenty two

Christianity in Shakespear s Hamlet
Faith plays a large role in how one lives their life. Christianity plays a strong role throughout Hamlet
by William Shakespeare. When reading the play one must think of the controversies of the time
when Shakespeare writes the play. Reformation and Renaissance opinions are reflected throughout.
Shakespeare deals with very controversial attitudes and religious questions dealing with death, the
existence of purgatory, morality, murder, suicide and marriage
in his play Hamlet. It is obvious
throughout the play that Hamlet s life is guided by his faith and his religious beliefs. At first,

To be, or not to be? That is the question whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and
arrows of outrageous fortune, Or to take arms against a sea of troubles, And, by opposing, end
them? To die, to sleep No more and by a sleep to say we end the heartache and the thousand
natural shocks that flesh is heir to tis a consummation Devoutly to be wished! (Shakespeare 53).
At this point Hamlet is questioning whether he should live or die and whether it would be better
to live his life in agony or end it and in turn end the pain. He is troubled that if he were to take his
own life he would end up not in purgatory but in hell because taking one s life was considered to
be an unforgiveable sin. It is unfortunate that Hamlet is in a place in his life where he thinks killing
himself would perhaps be more of an option than living under the circumstances, which surround
him. Hamlet decides that he does not want to risk eternal peace in heaven for peace he may find
while on earth in a difficult situation. Hamlet also uses his Christian ideals when struggling with
the idea of killing his step father. He has several opportunities to do so the primary one is when he
walks in on Claudius praying. Hamlet can t commit murder when the person is praying because
then that would send the person straight to heaven. Hamlet does not want Claudius to end up living
in heaven but rather he wants to make sure that Claudius is sent to Hell. Hamlet

To Kill A Mockingbird Reproductive Behaviour
A recent trend in ornithology research has been to better understand how birds chose their mates
through behavioral displays. This topic has been of interests among the birding community due to
the fact that it reveals the social structure of bird groups and demonstrates the role of choice in
selecting partners. One way for females to select their copulation partners is through eavesdropping
on malemale vocal interactions as a way for females to compare different males singing behavior
and make direct comparisons between males on the basis of their performance. In order to better

Effect of shopping experience
On cross cultural receptiveness in Chinese
School of Business, Sun Yat Sen University, Guangzhou
Introduction
Nowadays under the trend of globalization, like every other aspect in marketing changed in our
life, more and more products are added some cross culture mixing elements. For example, more
Chinese movie have western actors and more Hollywood film conclude traditional Chinese like
Panda or feature spots (C. Samuel Craig William H. Greene Susan P. Douglas, 2005). To promote
customer satisfaction, we need to find out how do customers accept and appreciate these cultural
mixing goods or service? And what factors impact on the receptiveness towards them?

Participants that just have (vs. do not have) their shopping experiences in various shops(luxury vs.
non luxury; Chinese vs. European) are asked to evaluating on global products including coin shape
pizza and rice made burger.
Our hypotheses are: Chinese consumers that have the luxury or non luxury store shopping
experiences will influence their receptiveness towards the cultural mixing goods coin shape pizza
and rice made burger.
Method
In this experimental research, we selected four stores to represent four types of shopping
environment. Then we randomly ask quantity of customers of exiters and enters them to fill in our
questionnaire then we use the data collected to analyze through computer.
Participants.
Three hundred and sixty eight (368) Chinese customers completed the questionnaire. The reported
sample sizes in this study and all subsequent studies reflect the number of participants who satisfied
these preconditions. Since there were no gender differences in this or the subsequent studies, we do
not discuss gender further.
Materials, design, and procedure.
Participants completed a four page product receptiveness questionnaire. We randomly choose an

Color Symbolism In The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby is one of the greatest novels ever written. It is best
remembered and spoken about for it s color symbolism. The main reason to why color
symbolism is a studied topic in this novel is because the writer was also a painter. F.Scott
Fitzgerald uses the colors gray, blue and yellow to symbolize hopelessness, loneliness, and new
money throughout the novel. Fitzgerald uses the color gray to give the reader a darkened
negative visual of what was occurring in the novel. Occasionally a line of gray cars crawls along
an invisible track, gives out a ghastly creak, and comes to rest... . In this passage, the color gray in
the novel leaves the reader with a dark and empty vibe and visual throughout the novel. Nick is

Research Paper On Sour Burps
Sour Burps
Are you one of those people who experience sour burps once in a while during the day? This is a
symptom of acid reflux, which is a common gastrointestinal condition among people over 40 years
old.
Sour burping and sour belch are often uncomfortable and embarrassing. Although most people
associate these symptoms with gastroesophageal reflux disease, there are many other possible
factors that can cause these. Part 1: What Causes Sour Burps?
1.Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease
The most common cause associated with sour burps is GERD or gastroesophageal reflux disease,
which is also sometimes called acid reflux. This is often a chronic condition that affects your life in
many ways. Sour burping and belching are common symptoms, but ... Show more content on

Overweight
Obesity is also associated with sour burps because it increases abdominal pressure and contributes
to reflux. Other obesity associated factors that lead to sour burps include overeating, a sedentary
lifestyle, and diabetes, which may delay stomach emptying and result in reflux.
4.Pregnancy
Pregnancy is another factor associated with acid reflux and sour burps. An enlarging uterus
increases intra abdominal pressure while pregnancy hormones act on the LES, making acid reflux
common in many pregnant women. Other pregnancy related factors that may contribute to sour
burps include shortness of breath, anemia, easy fatigue, air swallowing, and overeating.
5.Smoking
Tobacco smoking and tobacco chewing can cause sour burps in various ways, including air
swallowing, weakening of the LES, and increased stomach acid production due to the stimulant
effect of nicotine and other chemicals found in tobacco.
6.Digestive Disorders
Digestive disorders may weaken the LES, delay emptying of your stomach, or produce excessive
stomach acids, contributing to sour burps. This is common with disorders like:
Gastroparesis
Gastrinoma
Hiatal hernia
Pyloric stenosis
Intestinal motility disorders

Panama Canal Expansion
Texas and other Gulf states may not be ready when their ship comes in.
A massive expansion of the Panama Canal is on track to be completed in about two years,
making it possible for huge ships often carrying goods from Asia to bypass their usual stops in
the Los Angeles/Long Beach area and instead sail directly to Texas and other states along the Gulf
of Mexico, as well as the East Coast. From there, the freight could be put on trains and trucks and
shipped across the country potentially generating billions of dollars and creating thousands of jobs
not only on the coasts but also in major inland hubs such as Dallas Fort Worth.
But Texas and other Gulf states are woefully unprepared to handle the goods brought to the area on
enormous ships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The canal, which the U.S. handed over to Panama in 1999, can handle ships up to 106 feet wide,
965 feet long and 39 feet deep but after expansion will be able to handle ships up to 161 feet wide,
1,200 feet long and 49 feet deep. Some of those larger ships can carry nearly triple the cargo of the
ships going through the canal today.
But will any of those boats stop in the Gulf, or will they simply go to the East Coast or elsewhere
in the Atlantic Ocean? The U.S. lacks deep water ports on its southern shores, with limited options
between Los Angeles and Norfolk, Va., officials said.
In many instances, those ports can use federal funds or raise their own dollars through debt to make
the necessary improvements.
As for highways and rail lines, there are scant resources for new projects. But existing dollars,
including funding from state and federal motor fuels taxes, could be steered toward projects that
benefit freight movement.
Texas response

to give input in the state s planning for roads, rail and other parts of the grid. The working group
includes BNSF, the Texas Farm Bureau, Texas Motor Transportation Association and Texas

2. People should carefully weigh the price that they must pay and Camus is debating the idea of
whether through world war, conflicts will actually be resolved once and for all; that if even
after several generations of sacrifice, they will not come closer to a world society. In The
Stranger, Meursault shows utter indifference to the man he had murdered. He did not consider
the possible consequences before he shot the man, and simply instinctively kills the Arab
without much consideration for what he himself would end up as. Camus explores the idea of
existentialism; the role that man plays, and that he is responsible for his own actions, in the
midst of a meaningless and empty world. From the ideologies expressed in Neither Victim nor
Executioner, it seems as though Camus purposely made Meursault blind towards weighing the
price he would have to pay upon murdering the Arab, and thus places focus on the process of his

Essay on Being a Professional Working Collaboratively
Throughout this essay I will reflect on and analyse my four week placement experience, which was
in a charitable organisation that promotes healthy living within its local community and the
surrounding areas. I intend to highlight how developing three aspects of their service provision
could help improve inter professional working. The three aspects are the clarification of roles
within the organisation, failures in communication with their partners, and how becoming a
community development trust could benefit them and the community they serve. I will look at the
changes they should consider and the staff that would be involved in these and whether one of the
aspects would still meet their quality requirements. As my placement is a... Show more content on

The manager allowed for the staff to discuss their responsibilities by clarifying each of their roles
and any training they had recently attended. She discussed their individual roles and reminded
them that they are also part of a team so they should work together to gain the best possible
outcome for the community. She then asked each of them to discuss with the team what they were
currently working on and what projects they may need support with. This was an effective task as
some of the staff admitted to being unsure of what the others were working on and they then
offered their expertise in certain areas. Having regular staff meetings would be beneficial for this
team as having a lot of short term funding means the staff are unsure of what the other staff are
working on. Belbin (2010) states that teams need to spend time together if they are to continue to
be successful, regular team meetings would allow for the team to come together more regularly and
share ideas. I also feel that the manager should put more of an emphasis on staff training as this
would benefit their individual work roles. Although they are not individually registered with a
registering body, they still have to maintain their own continuing professional development (CPD).

Apollonian And Dionysian
The Birth of Tragedy written by Nietzsche, brings up the idea of the two gods, Apollonian and
Dionysian. This greek essence of the gods are discussed in terms of their nature and what they
represent in terms of art and culture. He talks about the rebirth of tragedy and links music to it. In
greek mythology, Apollonian and Dionysian are sons of Zeus who has different views and
characteristics. Apollonian is calm and collective while Dionysian is chaotic and disorganized.
Dionysian is considered a sensual god who is more associated with contradictions, fire, frenzy, etc.
Whereas, Apollonian is about light, eloquence and morality. This clearly shows that their views
were very distinct when it came to worldly matters. An example of

The Trinity is an area of the Christian faith where Christians and non Christians alike
struggle to explain the Godhead in a way that is biblical and understandable. In this paper I will

Following the Nicene Council, the debate continued, including
discussions about the Holy Spirit. Eventually, Theodosius (the new Roman emperor), called a
second council, which was held in Constantinople. The council affirmed the view of the earlier
Nicene Council that Jesus is fully divine, eternal, not created. Moreover, the council accepted the
full divinity of the Holy Spirit, teaching that the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy
Spirit is God, yet there is only one God. The Nicene Creed (as translated by the International
Consultation on English Texts, 1975) reads as follows:
We believe in our God the Father, the Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and of all that is, seen
and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God
from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made of one being with the
Father. Through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down
from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he become incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was
made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is

Catherine Booth and the Salvation Army
Christmas is only a few weeks away and more than any other time of the year, thousands of people
in need are looking forward for the help of the Salvation Army. The members of the Salvation Army
are impatient to worship and listen to the Holy Spirit and once again follow the steps of their
mother of the Army, Catherine Booth. There are more than 1.5 million Salvationists across the
Europe and the United States, helping people in need for physical and spiritual salvation. In
1865, William Booth, a British Methodist preacher, found the Salvation Army with the help of his
wife Catherine Booth, who later was known as the mother of the Salvation Army. Their mission,
with the values of hope and justice, was to transform the lives of people, especially those in need
for spirituality. Do you also follow Christ? was Catherine s Constant question to her listeners. The
causes of Catherine Booth s success in her life can be summarized in three stages of: her
upbringing, her religion and desire to follow JesusChrist, and her marital life that gave her the
opportunity to serve in the Salvation Army.
The best gift that anyone can ask for in life is, to have a good and spiritual mother, and Catherine
was blessed with this gift. From childhood, Catherine was very spiritual and followed the Bible and
set Jesus Christ s teachings for her guidance in life. Catherine had an exceptional relationship with
her mother in every stage of her life and she had a major contribution to Catherine s

How do you connect downsizing, which is one of a number of actions being taken, with
corporate culture, which is only one of a number of crises being solved in a manner and to a
level that establishes a positive relationship? Another reason that it is difficult to draw a specific
link between downsizing and organizational culture is that there are many different variations
and approaches to downsizing. A distinction has been made between proactive downsizing,
which is planned in advance and usually integrated with a larger set of objectives, and reactive
downsizing, which would be typified by cost cutting as a last resort after a prolonged period of
inattention to looming problems by management5. Work force reductions can range from forceful
in nature, i.e., involuntary reductions, to the milder approaches, such as resignation incentives
and job sharing 6. There are different ways of deciding who stays, who goes from the outwardly
arbitrary to criterion based 7. There are different modes of planning, ranging from secretive
sessions to open discussions and solicitation of ideas from employees. There are different standards
of notice of terminations, including relatively harsh same day terminations as well as more
generous 90 day or longer notices. There are even differences in intentionality, i.e., reductions can

Optimism And Racism
Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year. This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson
appears to be a charming, quaint sentiment, although a sentiment which is seemingly not applicable
to modern society. However, is it possible that each individual could establish an optimisitc,
sanguine attitude throught all the days of their life? In retrospect, I sincerely believe that this is
attainable, through a conscious, caring attitude to our thoughts.
Genuinely unadulterated optimisim and joy is so recherere in modern society. However, optimisim
and an audcaious thrist for a jovial life is wildly infectious. The significant question still stands.
How do we obtain this unshakeable optimism through the storms of life, through clossal challenges,
through unfair critisim and rejection?
When we see unabashedly optimisic indivudals who rejoice in life and modify the way we look at

Serious Case Reviews in Childcare Sector
Unit 25Understand how to Safeguard the Wellbeing of Children and Young People
Outcome 1.4
Explain when and why inquiries and serious case reviews are required and how the sharing of the
findings informs practice.
Serious Case Reviews (SCR s) are undertaken when a child dies (including death by suspected
suicide), by a local authority (and more often than not by the Local Children s Safeguarding
Board) if abuse or neglect is known or suspected to be a factor in the death. SCR s are not enquiries
into how a child died or who was responsible; that is a matter for the Coroner s and Criminal
Courts to determine. Instead the purpose of Serious Case Reviews is to:

The inquiry, chaired by Lord Laming, found massive failings on the part of as many as twelve
agencies with a role to play in protecting children. The findings led to recommendations for a
radical reform of services, particularly in the areas of better joined up working and information
sharing.
Following this, several programmes and frameworks were later implemented into all
establishments that worked with children, and these included Every Child Matters services,
planned around children s and young people s needs and the improvement of the five key
outcomes which contribute to their well being: be healthy, stay safe, enjoy achieve, make a
positive contribution and achieve economic well being. There was also the implementation of the
Common Assessment Framework (CAF) system which enables multi agencies to access and add
information about a child s needs. The CAF is used at the earliest opportunity when it is
highlighted that a baby, child or young person may need help in their lives in order to progress. It
is used when there is concern about a child, or agencies have recognised a child has additional
needs, that require further exploration and a multi agency response. The assessment provides
further information and understanding of the child s circumstances.

Physical Body And Genitali The Biological Perspective
Compare and Contrast Essay
Biological Perspective: The biological perspective posits the idea that one s biological makeup is
responsible for determining one s gender. The idea is that a physical body and genitalia is what
mandates the person s gender. Some researchers have suggested that on top of this biological
determinism, genes pass on gender stereotypes like an increased ability for math in people
biologically assigned male and maternal instincts in people assigned female at birth. Others have
suggested that evolution has cemented men and women s roles in society because it always was
that way. A simplistic explanation of chromosomes states that those with Y chromosomes are male
and those without are female but as we know, it s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, once these intersex individuals are identified, corrective surgery is suggested to
reassign the child within the traditional gender binary so that their gender identity will match
expectations. Some scientists have suggested that gender identity is permeable within the first 18
months so that the intersexuality of their bodies can be addressed, while others suggest that
identity is fluid throughout childhood until puberty, when the body changes caused will cement
their gender identity. The process of acquiring a gender identity is simple within this framework.
Because it is solely focused on biology, the identity is assigned based on which side of the gender
binary it is closest to and that is all the nuance available. Later perspectives take this and define it
as the biological sex, which they then separate from gender. However, this process is similar
throughout all the perspectives for people who are cisgender, because they have no need for the
further nuance that other perspectives can provide.
Psychological Perspective
Freud believed that gender identity was built from our interactions and learned from our
environment, but was informed by our biological makeup. His theory of gender identity
development is constructed in stages as the child grows older, first the oral stage, then the anal
stage, then the critical stage in which the child s gender identity is constructed called the genital
stage. The genital stage requires

Sonnet 130 Analysis Essay
The explication of Sonnet 130 When you think of a sonnet from Shakespeare s time, you think of
a lovey, mushy poem about how the love the writer has for one. Sonnet 130, written by William
Shakespeare, totally goes against the typical sonnets of the time. Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 was
written in the early 1600s. Though it was written in this time, it was not like the rest of the sonnets.
Most of the sonnets at this time were modeled after Petrarch s famous sonnetsequence. He idolized
and idealized his mistress, named Laura. In his sonnets, he praises her beauty, her worth, and her
perfection using metaphors based on natural beauties. While these metaphors had already become a

There is also the possibility that she is of a darker race. In line four, he compares her hair to
black wires, which is not as flattering. Black is also not a color found in nature, but the absence
of light. Which also signifies sadness, darkness, and evil. In the past, men set a high value on
women s hair; it was a sign of femininity and beauty. Moving to the second quatrain which states,
I have seen roses demasked, red and white, / But no such roses see I in her cheeks;/ And in some
perfumes is there more delight/ Than in the breath from my mistress reeks. First, the reader
starts with an explicit I , which means he is only talking for himself and his mistress. In lines
five and six, the speaker does not see the red and white roses in her cheeks. Both colors were
already used, which means that neither the noble white or passionate red, are found in her. Roses
are also a sign of love and passion. The smell of the mistress is described in lines seven and eight.
The idea that reek and stink are the same thing did not develop until a century later. The mistress
breath was not as pleasant as some perfumes. Perfume was an expensive and worthy object, but
can be a pleasant smell in nature too. The last quatrain states, I love to hear her speak, yet well I

The Treaty of Versailles
In 1919 at the Paris Peace Conference The Treaty of Versailles was formally drafted and World
War I was finally brought to an end. The treaty was drafted by the Allied Powers, which consisted
of Great Britain, France and the United States. This treaty blamed the war solely on Germany, and
it required them to pay an amount of $33 billion dollars in reparations, cede all of colonies,
dismantle their air force, and greatly reduce their other military operations (German Delegation,
291).
The German army was reduced to 100,000 men, and they were not allowed to have access to any
tanks for their military. They were only given permission in the treaty to only be granted access to
6 capital naval ships to help defend their coastline, but they were not given any access to
submarines which would help them attack, or become undetected. They were also to agree that the
area that was to the west of the Rhineland and the area that was 50 kms east of the River Rhine was
to be made into a demilitarized zone or (DMZ). A (DMZ) is an area of which no German
soldiers or German aiding weapons are to be allowed. The Allies had agreed that they were to
keep a standard army occupied on the west bank of the Rhine for 15 years to be able to hold up
these treaty agreements. Also, during the drafting of this treaty, Germanywas not allowed to give

My View Using Online Train Tickets Buying
Executive Summary:
In my view using online train tickets buying is very good, and also provides quicker service to
the customers, which is easily accessible to the public. As an enterprise architect (EA) I would
implement this advanced buying or booking system but we should keep it safer. Through a detailed
research there would be many number of advantages and disadvantages of this system. We can
know the availability and buying of the tickets online.
By implementing this system it reduces the public effort going to the train station and making a
booking there, the customer can book online while he is sitting in his home. Below SWOT analysis
describes about the online ticket buying or booking in functional and non functional point of view.
Though this system has weaknesses which have been mentioned in the SWOT analysis which can
be avoided by taking counter measurements.

Paula Hawkins s The Girl On The Train
Thrillers are one of America s favorite genres of movies to watch. If you are a bookworm, a

completely different to the character in the movie. There is nothing more devastating than when the
movie does not follow the book either. The Girl on the Train is the perfect example of this
inconsistency. Paula Hawkins famous thrillerThe Girl on the Train, was made into a movie in two

Letter To Danbury Baptist Rhetorical Analysis
The Separation of Church and State
The central idea is that church and state should not be considered mutual. In the article, Letter to
Danbury Baptist, Thomas Jefferson respectfully rejects the Danbury Baptist pursue to making their
religion the only religion known to state. He also explains that the separation of church and state is a
part of the first amendment and it is one that we are going to keep and adhere to. Another article,
First Amendment to the US Constitution it states the first amendment and all the freedom we have
as Americans. An image, No Union Upon Any Terms shows how religion is not part of state.
Therefore, church and state should be separate.
In the Letter to Danbury Baptist, the author Thomas Jefferson develops and refines the central idea
of separation between church and state by explaining the importance of keeping a good
relationship between himself and the Baptist people but also standing firm on the importance of
the first amendment. The danbury Baptist people wanted to change the division of church and
state but Jefferson used his rhetoric to help explain to the people that the separation of church and
state is good for all men and all religions. Jefferson states, religion is a matter which lies solely

U.s. War On Terrorism Essay
The United States vision of and for the world changed dramatically, and perhaps permanently, on
September 11, 2001. The aftermath frightened and impacted the nation s reputation, and in order
to measure the nature and extent of our policies, it is important to understand our efforts after this
national attack on US soil. Many interesting documents released earlier that year provides a
detailed perspective of America s economic policies and actions towards the War on Terror. The
U.S. came out with a massive debt that has impacted the nation in several ways, but this leads to a
basic question with a complex answer: How did the U.S. War on Terrorismimpact the American
Debt Crisis? After researching further into the 9/11 attacks, clearly most of the money put into
the war was wasted or misspent. Even though it was crucial going after the terrorists, especially
since they had taken many lives and were capable to repeating their attack caused fear throughout
the nation. It is important to signal out that the U.S. was attacked from a terrorist organization
that had their focus on the U.S. for a long time. The impact that this served after 9/11 plays a clear
role in defining the results of how these economic policies were taken into action. After looking
over this tragic event in the U.S. history, there should have been a very high consideration towards
how the money was going to be used in an effort to defeat terrorismbefore this event occurred. The
top priority for the U.S. has

Pros And Cons Of Ncaa Football
Over the years, changes have been made to the postseason of NCAA football. There have been
two major types of game series: the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) and the College Football
Playoffs (CFP). The BCS was introduced to have the best teams in the nation voted to secure
spots in bowl games, determining who is the best team of that year. The CFP let all games in the
regular season help a team reach the playoffs and play in the championship game to be declared
the NCAA champions. Although many people claim that the CFP s are the best option for the
NCAA, many people argue that the BCS is the better choice to conclude the footballseason, which
leads to think if the change to the CFP was the right choice. The BCS should be reinstated because
of its ability to have the top contenders for national champion play each other in order to be the
best in the NCAA.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An advantage of the BCS stresses how important it can be to win the weekly, regular season
games, and this makes the games more exciting for fans and players. Another advantage of the
BCS is that a conference cannot have a monopoly over the whole bowl series, this means that
one conference cannot hold a position in more than three bowl games. This form of post season
was instituted in 1998 to provide non typical match ups and determine the best teams in the
NCAA. This did not always work because the teams were also determined by a vote. People who
voted often chose the more popular team, because they did not always want to watch teams they
knew little about. Usually, the best team was picked in order to make for the most spectacular

Prejudice, Prejudice And Prejudice
These days, there is a marked prejudice against prejudice, and understandably so. More often than
not, prejudice refers to an antipathy based upon a faulty and inflexible generalization. 1 Insofar as
prejudice refers to thought or action beclouded by hatred, it warrants condemnation, not defense.
However, prejudicealso has a broader meaning. According to the Oxford Shorter Dictionary, it is: a
preconceived opinion; bias unfavorable or favorable. 2 It refers to life circumstances and perspective
. Prejudice is any source of judgment whose validity one has not ascertained for oneself. The
aspiration to banish prejudice in this broad sense reflects the assumption that rational judgment
must be untainted by prejudgments of any kind. This way of thinking about judgment, and the
renunciation of fixed ideas it implies, is misguided. Prejudice gives life experiences their subjective
meanings. But prejudice can also be both illuminating and consistent with freedom. The concept of
detached judgment (itself a kind of prejudice) was shaped during the Enlightenment (1685 1815).
As Hans Georg Gadamer points out, The history of ideas shows that not until the Enlightenment
does the concept of prejudice acquire the negative connotation familiar today. 3 The word prejudice
actually comes from prejudgment, which means [having] either a positive or negative value. This
meaning, he continues, was limited during the Enlightenment to the sense of an unfounded
judgment that

Black Tailed Prairie Dogs Case Study
Discussion on Black Tailed Prairie Dogs LRS Black tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus)
demonstrated an improved long term reproductive success until a disproportionate ratio of helpers
to breeders (exceeding amount of helpers to breeders) became injurious to the coterie. In addition,
we observed an increased aggression (25% increase) in coteries with more helpers present than
smaller ones. Lastly, we found that there was more communication within coteries that contained an
average helper pool size than in smaller and larger helper pool size coteries. These factors may have
created the results that we observe, such as less competition and how much helpers aid breeders.
Less Competition Our results suggest the improved long term reproductive success is due to the
number of helpers remaining relatively small. We suppose that having fewer helpers lowers the
need for completion and increases communication among individuals within the coteries between
individuals. Competition creates among individuals for resources and causes evolution, yet
competition can be harmful where too much exists. In brown capuchin monkeys, larger... Show

This indicates that when the helper to breeder ratio becomes too high, the coterie becomes too
competitive, thus lowering the black tailed prairie dogs long term reproductive success. From our
observations, prairie dogs seemed more disgruntled when there were more helpers, which may
have been instrumental in lowering the long term reproductive success. This disgruntled behavior,
which is a 25% increase in aggression, includes increased biting of other adults in addition to
continual collisions with other members within the coterie. There are two possibilities for this
increased aggression: used in a way to regulate how much helpers help or caused by year

United States Marine Corps ( Usmc ) Base Of Military Bases...
Jacksonville, North Carolina, and the surrounding area is full of military bases. The biggest
base is a United States Marine Corps (USMC) base called Camp Lejeune. Some of the other
bases: Air Station New River (USMC), Camp Geiger (USMC), Air Station Cherry Point, smaller
adjacent posts, and reserve stations (Google, n.d.). Every military personal that separates from
their given branch is required to turn in their individual issue gear. Camp Lejeune s
Consolidated Issue Facility (CIF) states Dirty, cracked, missing or broken gear is the last thing
on the mind of a Marine returning from Iraq (Muth, 2006). This can be a challenging thing for
Marines to accomplish the CIF department at Lejeune explains just one of the challenges that
they face The only thing about cleaning the gear is that Marines are taking the flak jackets apart
and drying them in a dryer. The problem with that is that the outer shell will shrink so it s harder
to get the SAPI (Small Arms Protective Inserts) plates back into them. If you wash it you have to
let the outer shell air dry (Muth, 2006). This causes an extra amount of stress while trying to
transition out of the military. The gear has to be clean, undamaged and the correct generation that
the service member was issued. A private origination that is dedicated to helping with the military
to civilian transition is USMC IIF they warn Again there is no reason to have dirty gear. Take

Saturday Night Fever Monologue
I stare at myself in the mirror. What do I see? I see a socially awkward teenager, I see someone
who is oblivious to the immensity of real life, I see a dancing phenom. I like to compare myself
to John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever, and it s not my groovy hairdo and careless attitude
that builds this parallel, it s the fact that we re both kings of the dancefloor. Unlike John, I m no

For as long as I can remember I ve been the black sheep of my Latino family, I lack street

By: Lama Iskandarani
Creativity is not a gift from the gods , says Twyla Tharp. It is the result of effort and preparation,
and it s within reach of anyone who puts in the willpower to nourish it. All it takes is the
commitment to make creativity a habit, an essential part of your life. Twyla, the author of this
book has been working in the creative field for over 35 years now, so it s not surprising that she
has accumulated so much knowledge along this fruitful journey. She s one of the nation s greatest
dance choreographers and dancers, and she s been remarkably successful at it. She believes that

Creativity requires planning and hard work, and unlike popular belief it is not only for artists, but
for everyone, engineers, parents, business people etc. That s the basic idea of The Creative Habit,
that she will tackle in the following chapters.
2.Rituals of Preparation
Tharp recommends starting the day with a ritual or routine that precede the creative practice. She
says that having a ritual makes it a habit, and for her, getting in the cab every morning to go to
the gym is the first very important step to start her day efficiently. A ritual allows you to suppress
the questions like Why am I doing this? which might come to mind when you wake up in the
morning, when your motivation is at its lowest. Rituals move us past our fears, and it can be as
simple as putting on music or lighting a candle. It is an indication that it is time to start your
creative work.
Another important part of the ritual is giving up certain habits (like social media) for a week to
decrease distractions and focus on what needs to be done. The elimination of distractions, even the
ones inside of us, like fears and self doubt is imperative to sustain a healthy creative mind.
3.Your Creative DNA
Tharp claims that everyone has creative DNA , a combination of our key experiences and natural
born skills that add up to diverse sources for creativity for each person. It shows up in different
ways, and notably in the distance from which

Cross Cultural Issues In Human Resource Management
Cross cultural management is the subject field management in a cross cultural context. Cross
cultural management takes place when a manager handles someone from a different cultural
background. This challenge in management is very common as businesses expand globally, hiring
immigrants and work to increase diversity. It includes the study of the influence of societal
cultivation on top management practices. Organizing a business in a diverse cultureenvironment can
be challenging but it is not something that cannot be achieved. Nowadays, some organizations have
started special awareness programs in cross cultural management so that they can work with less
cultural issues and embrace the benefits that they gain from cross cultural management. However,
there are many still fail to understand the importance of bringing individuals from diverse
backgrounds together. Most managers think that by implementing such programs are just waste of
time and resources.

Isthmus Of Panama
The formation of the Isthmus of Panama is seen today as one of the most transformative and
remarkable events of the Cenozoic. The formation of the land bridge that connects North and South
America and divides the Pacific and Atlantic oceans had profound affects on the climate,
atmosphere and the biodiversity of both marine and terrestrial organisms of the area encompassing
the Isthmus of Panama. It led to the Great American Biotic Interchange, which allowed for the
invasion of inhabitants from each side of the Americas. The dispersal of terrestrial organisms and
the vicariant separation of marine organisms produced dramatic transformations in the land
ecosystems of South America and Central America, which largely influenced the distribution...

The Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), which is a measure of the efficacy and accuracy of
statistical models for a given data set, was applied to the two most commonly debated migration
models for Isthmus formation. One migration model consisted of a single rate shift at around 3.5
Ma, the once widely accepted timing for the formation of Isthmus. The other migration model
consists of two rate shifts at 25 Ma and 10 M, consistent with the initial collision of South America
and the Panama Block and the closure of the CAS, respectively. Results from this test revealed that
the migration model consisting of two rate shifts was a more accurate model for the formation of
the Isthmus of Panama. As seen in figures 1A D, migrations between North and South America
occurred in gradual pulses over millions of years rather than just a sudden burst of migration events
occurring after closure of the Isthmus around 3.5 Ma, as indicated by the dashed

the relative merits of Microsoft s Windows versus the open source platforms, Linux being one of

offers action every bit as intense (LinuxDevices). Both Windows and Linux offer solutions for

Windows Server 2003 and supports AMD s AMD64 64 bit extension of the Intel IA 32 architecture

not lived up to the hype, at least not yet. In CNET tests, XP Pro x64 had in fact lower bench tests
when compared to XP Pro (32bit). Furthermore, according to users there exist many compatibility

William Browning And Elizabeth Barrett Browning Essay
The Two Authors Different Perspective Literatures in the Victorian Era
Many authors are influenced by the society, culture, politic and economy during their period.
Therefore, their literary works usually describe the condition of their period directly or indirectly.
The two authors, Roberts Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, also expose the culture and the
condition of the society of the Victorian era through their works. The authors are married couple
authors of the Victorian era. Roberts Browning s a typical literary work is My Last Duchess.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning s one of the most famous work is Aurora Leigh. In the two poems, the
authors mainly focus on the different gender roles. Even though the two Victorian era literatures,
Aurora Leigh and My Last Duchess, demonstrate the social issue, which is a sexual discrimination
during the Victorian era, each author emphasizes the seriousness of the issue by using different
perspectives on women s roles and positions. My Last Duchess, which was written by Roberts
browning demonstrates the horrible condition of the Victorian society by exposing the author s
perspective on the genders role in the Victorian era. The book, the literature of the Victorian era,
defines the poem a perfect picture of cold blooded heartlessness, a thing possible in any age though
fortunately (Hugh 427). The poem clearly shows the dreadful social condition for a woman in the
Victorian era. According to the author, Michael O Neill,

Nostalgia In Short Story
Moving away from your native home and country is never an easy task. Italian immigrants that
emigrated to America felt a wide range of emotional turmoil, and nostalgia for their home country.
These quotes and stories all relate to me personally, and made me either feel nostalgia for my own
home, or made a lasting mark on me for how much something at home meant to them. Some of
these concepts I personally related to when I moved out of my house into the dorms, while others,
made me feel their pain and nostalgia from the storytelling. A majority of the concepts in the tales
and documentaries were nostalgic over similar ideas, like family, or what they miss about home.
Others that contrasted each other were mostly focused on the reason people left Italy, and how they
lived their lives in America. The stories we have read in class have similar themes when it comes
to nostalgia, both from moving away from home a short distance, and overseas. One of the
repeating concepts that I found the stories agreed on, was the idea of having nostalgia for home
and family. in Corresca s story about the two boys that travel to the new world to make a life for
themselves, they left behind the fishing family that raised them from being, lying beggars into
young men. As they succeed in America they respond with, I often think of Ciguciano and Teresa.
He is a good man, one in a thousand, and she was very beautiful. Maybe I shall write to them about
coming to this country having sympathy for the

  • 2. The Important Aspects Of Effective Nursing Communication is one of the most important aspects in effective nursing. For a nurse to be successful, communicating with patients, families, physicians, peers and ancillary departments is necessary. Communication is not only verbal with language, words and sound, but also non verbal. Non verbal behaviors such as touch, facial expressions, eye contactand movement, posture and silence make up more than half of the art of communication(Giger, 2013). The population in the United States is comprised of various cultures with different views of the meaning of non verbal communication. Understanding the views of various cultures can create a positive and healing environment for the patient, as well as increase patient and employee satisfaction (Starr Wallace, 2011). Many patients feel comforted by touch; a hand on the shoulder can help to alleviate fear in the hospital setting. Many cultures from Latin America, Spain and France are extremely affectionate and communicate through touch (Giger, 2013). These cultures often share kisses on the cheek, hugs and handshakes when greeting one another. As a nurse, I have experienced the embrace of a family from Mexico showing appreciation for taking care of their loved one. It is important to understand that other patients with different cultural backgrounds such as those from Germany and England, might find this type of physical contact invasive and inappropriate (Giger, 2013). Therefore, it is important for the nurse to understand the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Is Saul s Impact On Residential School Life In my opinion, I do believe Saul s experience at the residential school will have a significant impact on his future. A survivor of past family struggles, will he turn out the same way? A survivor who was abused in schools, will he be able to live the expectations of a parent? Or a survivor who was traumatized with the Catholic church and the white race, won t he/she hate them? It is Saul s future that will be affected. Firstly, Saul s parents experienced the residential schools and went crazy. There is a chance of this occurring to Saul also. After his parents had left the school, they went into depression and resorted to drinking. This is an example of what can happen after Saul leaves the school. During the years of residential schools, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, some of them were controlled by the Catholic religion. Before the school, he was frightened of white men but didn t know much about Catholics. The only true time he saw what it was like was his parents. His parents had no hate for the church but were most traumatized by it. Saul now is seeing all the abuse and how wrong they teach the aboriginals about the Catholic religion can cause a hate against Catholics and the white race. To this day, Aboriginals have had problems with white people and their politics. Because of past history with white men, for example, The Oka Crisis the aboriginals had a conflict with white people. The schools have also brought the Aboriginals to have a hate for the white men. It is possible that Saul will have a hate for them too. A quote from the book says, In what seemed like an instant, the world I had known was replaced by an ominous black cloud. (47) This quote represented how Saul felt in the school after the first day. He had already thought he was in a different world, that isn t like the one he had. Him saying this can cause a hate for white men for taking him from the world he loved. The school took away his friends, his family, and most importantly it will try to take his culture and replace it, so in the future, he is no longer an Indian. Once he truly realizes he could have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pueblo Tribe Indian Culture The Culture of the Pueblo Long before what is known as today s civilization and even longer before technology had shown its face, the now United States of America was majority, if not entirely, populated by the Native Americans. Amongst the various well known Native American tribes, the Pueblo may very well be the most diverse. From their philosophical views on how our world came to be to their days on end labor in the fields to provide for their people, Puebloans were, or rather are, a very unique breed. Over the course of time, many stories (or tall tales) were told from generation to generation. Crime Scene Investigation Case Study | Crime Scene Investigation| Case Study #1| | | 1/26/2013| OBTAINING and RECORDING PHYSICAL EVIDENCE When it comes to identifying people that have committed a criminal act, the most positive means is through fingerprints. When we are born, our fingerprints stay with us until we die and our bodies start decomposing. To the human eye our fingerprints look the same, however, further investigation will show that each of us have a unique set of friction ridges that comprise our fingerprints and sets our identity apart from each other. At a crime scene, there are two different types of fingerprints that may be found. Patent prints are visible to the human eye. Latent prints are unintentional prints found on items of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the bi chromatic powder is used on dark surfaces it will look light and it will show up dark on light surfaces. The best rule for processing latent prints using powder is to use less lifting powder than you think you are going to need. Many latent prints can be ruined by over processing with powder. David suggests give the print powder jar a quick shake before opening the lid then goes on to say remove the lid and place the fingerprint brush inside the lid (Spraggs, 2007). The lid will retain enough powder to start processing the latent print. A precise amount of pressure applied while spinning the brush will produce a good print with good ridge detail. He mentions that too much powder will fill the ridges and over process the print and too little will not produce enough, keeping in mind that too much contact between the brush and the print will damage the print. Once the print has been developed it is time to begin lifting the print. Lifting tape comes in a variety of widths and compositions. General lifting tape is used on flat surfaces and polyethylene tape is great for curved surfaces like door knobs. An important key in applying the tape is to keep it evenly and as smooth as possible. • 6. What Is Miss Maudie s Role In To Kill A Mockingbird The Chameleon Lady The great American classic To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee features the inner workings of a young girl s mind as she recounts a story from her youth. Adult presence in the novel is confined to her impressions of adults and their actions, giving Miss Maudie Atkinson a key role in providing adult perspectives on certain events. However, to properly understand Miss Maudie s role in Scout s story, one must first become familiar with her character. One of the most prevalent remarks Scout makes about Miss Maudie is her ability to blend into any given situation, be it the garden or the front porch. This chameleon lady behaviour was accomplished both by her attire and by her demeanor. When Miss Maudie is busily tending to her garden, she works in a straw hat and overalls but, once done with her flowerbeds, she would re emerge from the house, sit or stand on the porch and reign over the street in magisterial beauty . ... Not only does she know when and how to deal with children, Miss Maudie seems to have a better understanding of why children act the way they do. However, although Miss Maudie is featured as a proud Southern woman, she is not as completely entrenched in the culture of the South as other women are. This Is shown by her actions after the fire. Rather than sending for a Negro slave to clean up her yard, she herself does the work, much to the confusion of Jem and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Problem Of Organized Crime Essay Organized crime is a major problem around the world and only grows larger as time goes on. They increase in size and influence daily and become more of a threat to anyone who has the displeasure of interacting with them. These gangs, as they re often called, deal in weapons, drugs, and human trafficking, selling means to kill people, ruin their lives, or just plainly sell people. Unfortunately actions such as these are commonplace nowadays among gangs as they become more and more ruthless. We need to rid ourselves of gangs, that much is clear. However, nowadays we re not in a position to do so. Everyone in the country needs to understand the dangers of gangs and how they can grow anywhere despite law enforcement. Because it s not the police that can do away with gangs for good, it s the citizen s responsibility to ensure these gangs never grow and prosper. A problem facing the common citizen regarding this problem is their perception of gangs, how they view gangs and how they think gangs operate. To the average person when they think of a gang, they think of some teenagers smoking on a street corner brandishing knives. And while that s partially true, it s very far from the whole truth. When it comes to organized crime, there is no one type of gang, there different types of gangs varying in their size, influence, and how dangerous they are. At the bottom of the food chain is the street gangs consisting of a few dozen members at most and, like the name implies, they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is very important we find a dealership in our community that has a great reputation. This dealership also needs a service department to assist us with any future mechanical needs. The vehicles will need a CARFAX report available to give a detailed list of possible accidents, service record, number of owners, and the states where the vehicle has been registered. This is the most important information needed to make a good decision. 4. This model allows us to choose based on what works best for our budget and our needs. There are simple things such as paint color that are not as important as price and mileage. Over all we were able to make the best choice since it was one we would be stuck with for a while. 5. Once airborne the albatross does not flap its wings and expends almost no energy through muscle use. For many years scientists have wondered how the energy requirement for this foraging strategy is sustained. New work has now uncovered the albatrosses secrets of flying for free. Lewis Inter/National Security Studies Lesson 8 22 June 2012 Instructor: Dr. Bruce Bechtol Jr. Air Command and Staff College Distance Learning Maxwell AFB, AL One of the security challenges facing the United States (US) is the US and North Korea relations. The US policy toward North Korea is diplomatic yet firm. North Korea is our longest standing adversary. Policy toward North Korea is one of the most enduring foreign policy challenges. In this essay I will discuss the security challenge of U.S. and North Korea, the theory of international relation, realism, how it illuminates this challenge and how the instruments of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first is external: the challenge posed by its nuclear weapons program and the threat of proliferation off the Korean Peninsula. The second is essentially but not wholly internal: the challenge posed by the pending transfer of power in Pyongyang and potential for instability as the process plays out. This complex reality underscores the need for balance and strategic patience if the twin dangers of proliferation and instability on the peninsula are to be successfully managed. In order to produce these changes in the policy, there must be a determination of the ends/ goals, ways for achieving the goals, and means as the instruments and activities for implementing ways. The history of the relationship between the United States and North Korea led up to today s policy of dealing with North Korea through diplomatic channels. The U.S. helped to divide the Korean peninsula at the end of World War II, and then waged war against North Korea in the 1950s. Although the U.S. signed a peace agreement rather than a peace treaty with North Korea after the war, its policy toward the country changed. Instead of trying to overthrow the North Korea government, the U.S. government adopted a policy of containing communism. During the 1980 s, associations between North Korea and the U.S. start to take on a new diplomatic form. North Korea s nuclear weapons program had become a pressing international issue ... ABSTRACT In the abstract, the researcher summarizes the main features such as the concept of empowerment and the significant factors that influence it. The results of this quantitative study are also described to be consistent with many other studies, finding that key elements to nurse empowerment are job satisfaction and organization commitment. INTRODUCTION Statement of the problem The problem statement is clearly stated, to find what factors through a quantitative study establish nurse empowerment. The problem statement does not establish a pervasive reason for a new study. The researcher states that there is existing researchaddressing this question and the existing evidence is consistent with this study s findings. The reasons for needing this study to be done when there is already significant evidence is not explained. Nurse empowerment has an impact on every area of nursing. It influences job ... Access to these vast deposits is helping to significantly decrease the United States reliance on foreign energy, as we have recently become the largest natural gasproducer worldwide ( Hydraulic Fracturing Natural Gas and Oil Development ). In addition to abundance, natural gas has several other benefits as well. Natural gas emits only half as much carbon dioxide when burned than coal does, and currently the cost per unit is only one third that of oil, giving it some clear advantages over other widely used fossil fuels (Harvey, Hal). What is even more concerning is that companies find a way to justify their use of harmful substances by claiming that they make up only a small fraction of the injected fluid; less than one percent. However, experts like Colborn believe that even a seemingly small percentage translates to tens of thousands of gallons of these chemicals being pumped underground, and their research shows that even very low doses of the compounds can cause significant damage (Lustgarten, Abraham). One of the most prominent concerns regarding the toxicity of chemical additives lies in the threat of groundwater contamination. • 14. Lake Colac Is Part Of The Corangamite Basin Lake Colac is part of the Corangamite basin that was formed in the early Pleistocene and Tertiary during the volcanic movement. Due to the volcanic commotion it had blocked the natural outflow of Lake Colac s two tributaries, Dean s Creek and Barongarook Creek causing the rivers to flow into the basin leaving muddy deposits (Williams 1992). Wind has also caused crescent shaped dunes to form creating many shallow lakes and wetlands. The surface area of Lake Colac is about 3,000 hectares and has the circumference of about 33km, which is relatively shallow with an average depth of no more than 2.5 metres (Colac Otway Shire Council, 2002a). It has very different areas of vegetation including the Otway hinterland forests, volcanic plains, farmland and a number of urban settlements (Management of Environmental Quality 2005). It has also been used by the Aboriginal people that goes back to at least 7000 calBP where they could cross the lake in times of drought and the use of eel traps and remains of twenty two skeleton remains from the area are held in the Museum of Victoria (McNiven 1998). When reading the play one must think of the controversies of the time when Shakespeare writes the play. Reformation and Renaissance opinions are reflected throughout. Shakespeare deals with very controversial attitudes and religious questions dealing with death, the existence of purgatory, morality, murder, suicide and marriage in his play Hamlet. At this point Hamlet is questioning whether he should live or die and whether it would be better to live his life in agony or end it and in turn end the pain. He is troubled that if he were to take his own life he would end up not in purgatory but in hell because taking one s life was considered to be an unforgiveable sin. It is unfortunate that Hamlet is in a place in his life where he thinks killing himself would perhaps be more of an option than living under the circumstances, which surround him. Hamlet decides that he does not want to risk eternal peace in heaven for peace he may find while on earth in a difficult situation. Hamlet also uses his Christian ideals when struggling with the idea of killing his step father. He has several opportunities to do so the primary one is when he walks in on Claudius praying. People should carefully weigh the price that they must pay and Camus is debating the idea of whether through world war, conflicts will actually be resolved once and for all; that if even after several generations of sacrifice, they will not come closer to a world society. In The Stranger, Meursault shows utter indifference to the man he had murdered. He did not consider the possible consequences before he shot the man, and simply instinctively kills the Arab without much consideration for what he himself would end up as. Camus explores the idea of existentialism; the role that man plays, and that he is responsible for his own actions, in the midst of a meaningless and empty world. From the ideologies expressed in Neither Victim nor Executioner, it seems as though Camus purposely made Meursault blind towards weighing the price he would have to pay upon murdering the Arab, and thus places focus on the process of his realization. The war can be thought of as a parallel to the physical fight that Meursault and the Arab engaged in; the ultimate conflict was not solved through murder and physical action. Society still remained the way it was, and instead of Meursault changing the views of society, he was instead forced to submit to it. * Camus wrote for L Express, from 1955 1956. Others have suggested that evolution has cemented men and women s roles in society because it always was that way. In general, once these intersex individuals are identified, corrective surgery is suggested to reassign the child within the traditional gender binary so that their gender identity will match expectations. Some scientists have suggested that gender identity is permeable within the first 18 months so that the intersexuality of their bodies can be addressed, while others suggest that identity is fluid throughout childhood until puberty, when the body changes caused will cement their gender identity. The process of acquiring a gender identity is simple within this framework. Because it is solely focused on biology, the identity is assigned based on which side of the gender binary it is closest to and that is all the nuance available. Later perspectives take this and define it as the biological sex, which they then separate from gender. However, this process is similar throughout all the perspectives for people who are cisgender, because they have no need for the further nuance that other perspectives can provide. Psychological Perspective Freud believed that gender identity was built from our interactions and learned from our environment, but was informed by our biological makeup. His theory of gender identity development is constructed in stages as the child grows older, first the oral stage, then the anal stage, then the critical stage in which the child s gender identity is constructed called the genital stage. Comparison Of Twenty Pink Questions And Rabbit-Proof Fence The two Australian texts, a short story published in 2006 titled Twenty Pink Questions by Fabienne Bayet Charlton and the 2002 film Rabbit Proof Fence directed by Philip Noyce, both explore the idea of the injustice of forced child abduction. Twenty Pink Questions, details an insightful conversation between an Aboriginal mother and her child who repeatedly ask questions about the history of the Stolen Generation in order to understand her personal story. In comparison, Rabbit proof fence depicts the lives of three Aboriginal girls who were removed from their families and placed in the Moore River Native Settlement in 1931, whilst exploring the unjust policy enforced by the Australian government during that time period that led to the mistreatment of Aboriginal people. Sonnet 130, written by William Shakespeare, totally goes against the typical sonnets of the time. Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 was written in the early 1600s. Though it was written in this time, it was not like the rest of the sonnets. Most of the sonnets at this time were modeled after Petrarch s famous sonnetsequence. Moving to the second quatrain which states, I have seen roses demasked, red and white, / But no such roses see I in her cheeks;/ And in some perfumes is there more delight/ Than in the breath from my mistress reeks. First, the reader starts with an explicit I , which means he is only talking for himself and his mistress. In lines five and six, the speaker does not see the red and white roses in her cheeks. Both colors were already used, which means that neither the noble white or passionate red, are found in her. Roses are also a sign of love and passion. The smell of the mistress is described in lines seven and eight. The idea that reek and stink are the same thing did not develop until a century later. The mistress breath was not as pleasant as some perfumes. Perfume was an expensive and worthy object, but can be a pleasant smell in nature too. The treaty was drafted by the Allied Powers, which consisted of Great Britain, France and the United States. This treaty blamed the war solely on Germany, and it required them to pay an amount of $33 billion dollars in reparations, cede all of colonies, dismantle their air force, and greatly reduce their other military operations (German Delegation, 291). The German army was reduced to 100,000 men, and they were not allowed to have access to any tanks for their military. They were only given permission in the treaty to only be granted access to 6 capital naval ships to help defend their coastline, but they were not given any access to submarines which would help them attack, or become undetected. They were also to agree that the area that was to the west of the Rhineland and the area that was 50 kms east of the River Rhine was to be made into a demilitarized zone or (DMZ). A (DMZ) is an area of which no German soldiers or German aiding weapons are to be allowed. The Allies had agreed that they were to keep a standard army occupied on the west bank of the Rhine for 15 years to be able to hold up these treaty agreements. The aftermath frightened and impacted the nation s reputation, and in order to measure the nature and extent of our policies, it is important to understand our efforts after this national attack on US soil. Many interesting documents released earlier that year provides a detailed perspective of America s economic policies and actions towards the War on Terror. The U.S. came out with a massive debt that has impacted the nation in several ways, but this leads to a basic question with a complex answer: How did the U.S. War on Terrorismimpact the American Debt Crisis? After researching further into the 9/11 attacks, clearly most of the money put into the war was wasted or misspent. Even though it was crucial going after the terrorists, especially since they had taken many lives and were capable to repeating their attack caused fear throughout the nation. There have been two major types of game series: the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) and the College Football Playoffs (CFP). The BCS was introduced to have the best teams in the nation voted to secure spots in bowl games, determining who is the best team of that year. The CFP let all games in the regular season help a team reach the playoffs and play in the championship game to be declared the NCAA champions. Although many people claim that the CFP s are the best option for the NCAA, many people argue that the BCS is the better choice to conclude the footballseason, which leads to think if the change to the CFP was the right choice. • 46. Prejudice, Prejudice And Prejudice These days, there is a marked prejudice against prejudice, and understandably so. More often than not, prejudice refers to an antipathy based upon a faulty and inflexible generalization. 1 Insofar as prejudice refers to thought or action beclouded by hatred, it warrants condemnation, not defense. However, prejudicealso has a broader meaning. According to the Oxford Shorter Dictionary, it is: a preconceived opinion; bias unfavorable or favorable. 2 It refers to life circumstances and perspective . Prejudice is any source of judgment whose validity one has not ascertained for oneself. The aspiration to banish prejudice in this broad sense reflects the assumption that rational judgment must be untainted by prejudgments of any kind. This way of thinking about judgment, and the renunciation of fixed ideas it implies, is misguided. Prejudice gives life experiences their subjective meanings. But prejudice can also be both illuminating and consistent with freedom. The concept of detached judgment (itself a kind of prejudice) was shaped during the Enlightenment (1685 1815). As Hans Georg Gadamer points out, The history of ideas shows that not until the Enlightenment does the concept of prejudice acquire the negative connotation familiar today. 3 The word prejudice actually comes from prejudgment, which means [having] either a positive or negative value. This meaning, he continues, was limited during the Enlightenment to the sense of an unfounded judgment that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Black Tailed Prairie Dogs Case Study Discussion on Black Tailed Prairie Dogs LRS Black tailed prairie dogs (Cynomys ludovicianus) demonstrated an improved long term reproductive success until a disproportionate ratio of helpers to breeders (exceeding amount of helpers to breeders) became injurious to the coterie. In addition, we observed an increased aggression (25% increase) in coteries with more helpers present than smaller ones. Lastly, we found that there was more communication within coteries that contained an average helper pool size than in smaller and larger helper pool size coteries. These factors may have created the results that we observe, such as less competition and how much helpers aid breeders. Less Competition Our results suggest the improved long term reproductive success is due to the number of helpers remaining relatively small. We suppose that having fewer helpers lowers the need for completion and increases communication among individuals within the coteries between individuals. Competition creates among individuals for resources and causes evolution, yet competition can be harmful where too much exists. In brown capuchin monkeys, larger... Even though the two Victorian era literatures, Aurora Leigh and My Last Duchess, demonstrate the social issue, which is a sexual discrimination during the Victorian era, each author emphasizes the seriousness of the issue by using different perspectives on women s roles and positions. My Last Duchess, which was written by Roberts browning demonstrates the horrible condition of the Victorian society by exposing the author s perspective on the genders role in the Victorian era. The book, the literature of the Victorian era, defines the poem a perfect picture of cold blooded heartlessness, a thing possible in any age though fortunately (Hugh 427). As they succeed in America they respond with, I often think of Ciguciano and Teresa. He is a good man, one in a thousand, and she was very beautiful. Maybe I shall write to them about coming to this country having sympathy for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
