First time meeting with HV was interesting because by the end of our visit I was
able to rule out my assumptions. Prior to meeting with clients I like to read up on
their files. Having access to a file gives workers a glimpse into a client s life.

the 75,000 war victims. The names are organized in alphabetical order. It is 85 feet
long and 15 feet tall. The monument also has the name of the massacres that took
place during the war such as La Masacre del Izote in which an entire town was
burned down and 10,000 civilians were killed. The project begun in 1994 and it was
finished in 2003. The monument was made to pay the government s moral debt to the
population, as stated by the current president of El Salvador. It is meant to be a
symbol of memory and reconciliation. However, the reconciliation aspect of it can be

Available treatment options for diseases are limited by our knowledge. At the local
hospice center, where I volunteered 2 years, these limitations were evident. The
majority of my clients were disadvantaged due to a lack of treatment options. The
limitations I saw firsthand instigated my pursual of research to explore an in depth
relationship between disease and host.
My interest in host pathogen interactions started when I found a strong relationship
between my Microbiology and Human Physiology courses the fall of 2013. For
example, while I was learning about the bacteria Clostridium botulinum in
Microbiology, I was also learning about the nervous system in Human Physiology. In
Microbiology we learned that Clostridium botulinum releases neurotoxins that
interfere with neuron signaling, leading to muscle paralysis. The course did not go
into depth about how the neurotoxins cause paralysis, but I was able to piece
together how it would affect the nervous system through what I learned about
neuronal signaling in Human Physiology. These classes prompted me to enroll in
the Microbiology Laboratory course where I worked with my peers to plan and
execute an experiment of our combined interests the effects of varying glucose levels
on oral microbes. These classes and Microbiology Lab allowed me the opportunity to

international terrorist organization that was founded in the late 1980 s by Osama bin

This line compares the mother to some kind of a beast, whom stalks her prey and
entraps it right before she devours it s helpless flesh. In addition, the crippling fat ;
paints a grotesque image of the mother allowing us to form a bias of this fat, ugly,
child beating beast. Hayden has set the foundation for his poem with his brilliant
usage of the setting and characterization. Hayden uses his third stanza to develop the
action in the poem.

from his past. Hayden uses the colon marks to show that the preceding text is going
to be the narrator s woundlike ; memories.
The fourth and fifth stanzas are used to show the thoughts of the narrator. The
narrator is remembering an incident that has happened in the past when he was

Dehumanization is thought to be done by bad men that appear in movies and in the
distant past. It seems as a figment of imagination that nobody must face anymore
because people are so obviously above being slowly changed into anything less than
human. Little do they know, that this little dream that seems so far is, in fact, right
on their doorsteps and has dug its way into their most intimate part of their lives, their
childhood. Education, a simple way to spend 17 years, is a machine that cranks out
people that have been so dehumanized that they don t even realize it happened. While
there are various aspects that help create the dehumanization, the largest tool is
grades. Placing numbers upon young children to assign them value, to have them
begin to assign their self value to them, to use them to show the amount of success,
all strip people of the human factor of curiosity. Why question when it won t be on
the test, quiz, exam, etc. is what all students quickly learn to not worry about as they
only need the high marks to be happy. Little do they know; a pass fail system could
show them how question to the world and how to genuinely learn. It would rely not
on the students memorizing facts, but truly understanding that while they ll never
understand the ever changing reality of their world, they can keep learning in their
attempt to.
Education was not made to teach children how to learn, no it was made to have the
students memorize facts and recite them back at a later date. This type of education

and teacher rather, it involves a narrating Subject (the teacher) and patient, listening
objects (the students) (240). The teacher just talks of the information they deem
important and the students don t question it. Instead, they quietly listen while

making learning a flat experience words are emptied of their concreteness and

The importance of this lab is to see if the temperature changes during a chemical
reaction. A chemical reaction is accompanied by a change in temperature.
Endothermic reaction is when the temperature drops. Exothermic reaction is when

Everyone is affected by the environment they grow up in. Not everyone will have
the same opportunities in life because of where they live. Similarly, the setting
influences characters into their decisions and beliefs. The setting is a major factor

Indians made Frank feel that his actions were acceptable. On page 112, David s
