Mount St. Helens Analysis
Volcano Eruption The Eruption of Mt St. Helens (1980) Rare Footage Video Review
Mt. Saint Helens is a natural wonder. It was quite a beautiful and majestic sight, however along
with its beauty came its danger. In the video Volcano Eruption The Eruption of Mt St. Helens
(1980) Rare Footage, a video made by the USDA Pacific Northwest Forest Service (quite an old
video at that), an overview of the events is given along with the successive events leading up to the
explosions. It also goes on to describe the devastating effects that were left on the surrounding
environment, wildlife, and communities. As the title of the video suggests, there are images and
footage of the explosions, plumes, and real time reactions of those who witnessed ... Show more

With many evacuating and being evacuated by officials, some were stubborn and either stayed of
traveled to witness. Time passed relatively peacefully for a while until about May of that year. On
May 18th at 8:32am, in true stratovolcano characteristic fashion, Mt. Saint Helens erupted with a
violent and intense explosion. The plume created stretched approximately 22.5km into the sky,
blanketing most of eastern Washington in smoke and ash causing the skies to become pitch black
by noon. The blast was approximately 100 times greater than ever seen before and the blast was so
great that Northwest face of the mountain was essentially removed. The explosion caused a massive
landslide and decreased the height of the peak of the mountain by approximately 396 meters

Andrew Luth What Is Orthodox Theology Analysis
Andrew Louth in his article What is theology? , warns that there is a danger of setting theology
down alongside all other academic studies and assuming that theologia is one of them. The
difference being the very purpose of the study. Yet within this specific discipline, namely theology,
it entails a dimension beyond the disciplines of all other human learning, that academes must bear
witness to. To consider theologyas simply the study of Godin scholastic terms, will almost 1
inevitably lead into all sorts of possible misuse of a theologian s apparent theophany. These
knowings about God cannot be presented without making clear that at its heart there is an
engagement, ultimately an engagement with God. When theology becomes a purely ... Show more

If we seek to understand it, we will only understand in part. But there is something to understand
nonetheless, and such understanding is what we might well call theology.21
In the Orthodox Church and tradition, theology has a very different meaning from the one we give
it today. It is a gift from God, a fruit of the purity of the Christian s spiritual life. Theology is
identified with the vision of God, with the immediate vision of the personal God, with the personal
experience of the transfiguration of creation by uncreated grace. Theology is not a theory of the
world, a metaphysical system ... not an intellectual discipline but an experiential participation, a
communion. 22
Revelation is also preserved in the church. The church today is a great, living storehouse of the
knowledge of God. From within the church revelation can sprout an inner revelation. In the church
the fullness of her understanding is given through doctrine, but, the knowledge of this world is
always only partial, awaiting the fullest revelation in the Parousia. It is very important to

Descriptive Essay On Suburban Life
I don t know if the American Dream in its current form is dead, with the large homes fenced off
with white picket fences, a lush green yard in the front, an expansive yard in the back, and the
entire family together in that home that they own. I m honestly not sure if people still want that
specific idealized image of a house in the suburbs as their actual permanent home. As a young
person who is sometimes considered a Millennial depending on who you ask, I can only speak
of my own experiences as well as of those around me. As a city kid, growing up in a small walkup
in the middle of Queens, I was kind of in between the suburb/urban lifestyle where I was only a
few minutes from the city life and on a very quiet Sunday afternoon, lived the suburban life. It
sucked. I was in a neighborhood where the rents were constantly rising but the actual condition of
the area was getting worse. There was constant construction, grifters, rats, bad neighbors, car
accidents, and decaying infrastructure. Trees were cut down near my house and the roots were left
to rot. Yet, everywhere I went, houses were being bought, renovated, and rented out. And people
were moving in. I couldn t understand why. And then I went to college where dorming was an
option. And my sister wanted to move out and was apartment hunting. We both so desperately
wanted that chance of being independent from our parents, living it out in Manhattan. But we
couldn t. It was too expensive to move out. Coming from a upper

Tender Is The Night Symbolism
Many people reflect upon their lives and think fondly of their youth. Often, youth is seen as a
rebirth of sorts as well as hope for the future, whether it is a parent living vicariously through his
or her children or viewing a child as an expectation for a better future. Tender is the Night, a novel
written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, focuses on human deterioration and pride in adolescence by
romanticizing youth. Fitzgerald shows his regard for childlike innocence through his use of
symbolism and diction. The novel follows Dick Diver through his life, his affair with Rosemary

moral dissolution. Dick continues to act self destructively; his actions lead to the development

Charles Darnay (born Charles EvrГ©monde), author of Women s March on Versailles in Diderot
and d Alembert s EncyclopГ©die, was the son of a French noble and the nephew of the Marquis
St. EvrГ©monde. Raised in aristocracy, Darnay grew to resent the opinions from men, such as
his uncle, who had little sympathy for those in poverty. Darnay, like his mother, displayed
kindness when in contact with his lower class neighbors, giving whatever support he could (both
financially and emotionally). After the death of his mother, Darnay was left in the care of the
Marquis and faced criticism for his charity. Growing to despise his wealthy family members in
France, Darnay chose to leave the care of his uncle and found a new life in England under his

My Struggles with English Composition Essay
My Struggles with English Composition
...As for all the seniors, I want you to challenge yourselves this year and don t think you re going
to cruise through to graduation. Mrs. Smith, County High School. Although some seniors in high
school refuse to take a hard schedule, I decided to take a challenging composition course my last
year of high school and learned more than ever before from it. My teacher, Mr. Bacz, focused
mostly on vocabulary, grammar, and how to right an essay. Each one of these subjects combined
to give me a year of hard work, which eventually paid off.
Since, I have always struggled in English, I thought this class was just going to be another hardship.

Along with vocabulary, grammar is another area in which I had problems. For instance, I was
still getting confused about proper sentence structure. I worked on this by completing a 30 page
workbook full of different sentences to assist me. From learning verbs to compound complex
sentences the worksheets covered it all. I was starting to realize this class and Mr. Horbacz
were all about fine tuning me for my big transition into college. The next thing I did was learn
how to organize my thoughts onto paper and write an essay. I knew how to write a basic five
paragraph essay, but my skills were limited. These are all things I struggled with at the beginning
of the year, but soon I started to grow in each area.
After the first couple of months, improvements in my school work were beginning to show, and
I liked it. My vocabulary abilities were revealing themselves as well. For example, when I would
read homework in other classes the words that would sometimes confuse me began to make sense.
I would also listen to other people s conversations on the street and it seemed as if the vocabulary
words that I had just studied the week before, could be heard. It was the weirdest thing. Likewise,
my grammar was developing nicely. For instance, when I would read books I could see the
different ways sentences were portrayed. Things that I never picked up before were coming to me
so much easier. This class that

Alexander III of Macedon was born on July 356 BC in Pella Greece into the Argead Dynasty.
Even before he was born, several people predicted that he would be very successful and would be

about Alexander that was written in 75 A.C.E.:
It is agreed on by all hands, that on the father s side, Alexander descended from Hercules by

Because his brother, Leander, was Bishop of Seville, when Leander died on March 13th, around

Copyright Law On The Planet
Only one thing is impossible for God: To find any sense in any copyright law on the planet
(Mark Twain). The concept of copyright in the United States has a large history. The first form of
copyright in the United States stems from Article 1, Section 8, Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution
in the year 1787, where Congress shall have power . . . to promote the progress of science and
useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their
respective writings and discoveries. These exclusive rights were originally extremely limited, as the
first CopyrightAct of 1790 only applied to maps, charts, and books. As time has advanced, copyright
practices in the United States have undergone several reforms, among the most recent being the
infamous Digital Millennium Copyright Act(DMCA) of 1998. Said act updated United States law to
the requirements of the World Intellectual PropertyOrganization (WIPO), such as placing
limitations on the liability of online service providers for copyright violations made by users. The
act, however, has been a subject of controversy in recent times, as some content creators abuse it to
control access to their content. This is accomplished through methods such as copyright trolling, in
which the copyright holder produces works solely for the purpose of litigation rather than
distribution. Oftentimes, these practices are thought to be a violation of fair use, which enables
copyrighted work to be used without

INTRODUCTION
PAINT INDUSTRY IN INDIA
The Indian paint industry has been growing rapidly since past few years. The future of paint
industry in India is even brighter as the per capita consumption of paints in India is as low as
1.25 kg. The size of the Indian paint industry is approximately 940 million litres/annum valued at
approximately $2 billion. Over the last ten years, the industry has grown at a compounded annual
growth rate (CAGR) of 12 13% and in the next five years, it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 11
12%. Growth in housing, automobiles and construction are all driving the rise in current
consumption. The paint industry is broadly divided into two segments:
Decorative paints

Quality And Capacity Of Software Testing
5.0 Introduction
Testing is the process to execute the program and find the bugs and fix on the spot. It evaluates the
quality of the software, and done during the development and after the implementation process.
Software testing is the process of executing the program with intend to find the errors.
It is a verification and validation process.
Verification is the process which make sure the product to satisfy the specific requirements at the
start of the project.
Validation it is the process to make sure the product which satisfies the specific requirements at the
end of the development phase.
5.1 Software Testing Basics
In the start of testing process the basic and primary thing is requirements of development cycle, this
phase the testing will be easier for testing.
The quality and capacity of software can be examining by executing the code and check the code at
different conditions such as software testing by subjecting it to different sources as input and
evaluating the results with respect to the inputs.
There are two basics types of software testing.
Black box testing
White box testing
These two basic types of testing are explained at lower part of this chapter.
5.1.1 Functional and Non Functional Testing
Functional testing defines the specific function of a particular code in the program. The functional
testing gives us the information about the performance and security of a program.
Non functional testing defines the capabilities of a specific software, and it

As one attempts to have a closer and more personal relationship, the other pulls back. Estragon
fears becoming too intimate with Vladimir because he wants to keep his masculinity. The chasm
between Vladimir and Estragon continued to grow throughout the play. Within Fight Club, the
characters show love but in a sense of ownership in order to hold their masculine title. They also
are afraid to love in hopes of becoming vulnerable. Palahniuk wrote, This isn t about love in
caring. This is about property as in ownership (Palahniuk 14). This view of love is not positive,
as it is used to control others. However, there is irony within this because none of the characters
within the novel want to be controlled. Not falling in love can also serve as a reason to uphold
masculinity. The readers could tell that the narrator was head over heels for Marla Singer, one
of the few female characters in the novel, but he refuses to approach it. He said, I tell Tyler,
Marla Singer doesn t need a lover, she needs a care worker. Tyler says, Don t call this love
(Palahniuk 62). The narrator and Tyler agree with each other that they are most certainly not in
love with Marla, but the readers know he is. Another example is present when the narrator
believed he liked Marla but claimed he did not love her. It s not love or anything . . . But I think I

The Success Of The Goal
The targets supporting the achievement of the goal can be measured, are indeed being measured
but fail to provide built in incentives or sanctions should these targets not be met or fulfilled.
The idea is to put a stop to deforestation, restore land and water ecosystems, protect the planet s
biodiversity and various species. Key to the success of the goal is the target to significantly
increase financial resources to support conservation, sustainable development and ensure
equitable sharing and access to resources. Although these targets can be measured, the accuracy
of the data can be called into question because government sources are not always the most
trustworthy. Some geographical areas of the world have shown to have skewed the facts ( Spot
the Rancher ). The failure of the Kyoto accord and the Canadian tar sands illuminate the uphill
battle the UN faces in attaining their goal. As long as elected officials choose to favour economic
growth and profit over sustainable development and equality the goal will not be achieved and the
targets are irrelevant. The targets are measurable. Organizations such as the World Resources
Institute have been working to create an international forest watch. With the use of satellites and
technology that provides new ways of detecting deforestation patterns, forests can be far more
easily monitored an analyzed. This gives governments an ability to police their forests and allows
them to be alerted when certain areas are in danger

Gait means locomotion and evaluating locomotion by professionals is called gait analysis. Pattern
of walking differ from one individual to another. A gait cycle consists of the activities that occur
from the point of initial contact of one lower extremity to the point at which the same extremity

phase covers from heels strike to toe. In this phase foot is on ground which acts as a shock
absorber. Swing phase is non weight bearing phase in which weight is only on one foot during
walking. Gait constitutes movement of whole body which involves biomechanical abnormalities

The Impact Of Gold On The City Of Potosi
The Impact of Silver
The city of Potosi, which is now modern day Bolivia, was once a vast mining town located in the
Andean highlands in the mid 1500 s. This town was the world s leading producer of silver; the
mountain contained enormous amounts of silver that then created many opportunities for many
different people all around the world. The population of Potosi at this time was around 160,000
large enough that it was comparing to that of cities like London and Amsterdam. This great
mountain supplied many people with all sorts of different jobs. This was a very dangerous and
fatal job for the people and many ended up dead or injured from working in the mines. Once
inside, they spend the whole week in there without emerging, working with tallow candle. They
are in great danger inside there, for one very small stone that falls injures or kills anyone is

(Strayer614). Mining in this mountain was very risky and you never knew if you would survive
the day or make it out of mine safely. Once the silver was mined from the mountain in Potosi it
was sent off to many different places all around the world. Mexico, the Philippines, China, and
Japan were all places that silver was exported to. But, the main destination of this silver was to
Spain. The Spanish used this silver for many different things. In Spain itself, which was the initial

Theories Of The Utimatum Game
We consider a two player game, where one player (the proposer) makes an offer to split an
endowment/an amount of money between the two players and the other player (the responder) can
accept or reject the offer in an ultimatum game (but has no choice in the dictator game).
In an ultimatum game, if the other player accepts, the money is split according to the proposal and
if the other player rejects, neither player receives anything. As suggested by game theory, the only
sub game perfect Nash equilibrium of the game is the strategy pair in which player one offers zero
and player 2 accepts all offers. Rational responders should accept even the smallest positive offer,
since the alternative is getting nothing. In a large number of human studies, ... Show more content

As per what the theory predicts (based on non cooperative game theory), the dictator will allocate
nothing to the receiver in a simple dictator game. When property rights are introduced in the
dictator game, dictator earnings treatment , we expect dictators to produce as much wealth as
possible and give nothing to the receiver and in the receiver earnings treatment, we expect
individuals in group Y to produce the lowest earnings level possible and the proposer to offer a
higher share. (Spraggon, 2008).
Thus, this theory will be validated if we observe in the experiment that the give rate of the
participants fall in the dictator game when property rights are given to proposers. In that case, we
will accept the hypothesis.
In the ultimatum game, the responder will not be willing to accept low offers if he/she has earned
the money and the dictator will not be expected give zero amount knowing this. If the property
rights are with the proposer, then too, he will give be expected to give more to the responder than
in a dictator game, fearing that very low offers will make the partner reject his/her proposal. If we
observe such a behavior, then the expected theory is

Kosovo Humans
Telling the Story of Kosovo Humans Elaine Monaghan traveled to Kosovo in 1999 for six weeks
to report on the Kosovo war. She was prompted to go there after she saw a specific image of
thousands of Kosovo citizens confused, lost and scared. She realized that these were human

The Global Debate on Death Penalty
The death penalty is one of the most hotly debated legal issues in the democratic world today. This
is particularly the case in the United States, where some states have implemented capital
punishment as a response to major crimes and others have abolished the practice. Among
legislators, policy makers, and the general public, there appears no likelihood of resolving the
debate. The wide array of moral, religious, humanitarian, and criminological views simply appears
too divergent to ever meet. At the basis of the debate is the issue of whether capital punishmentis a
suitable response to severe criminal activity such as murder, or if there are better and more effective
ways to respond to these. While there are compelling arguments both in favor of and against
capital punishment, one may draw the conclusion that the death penalty serves little purpose
beyond revenge, which ultimately does little to compensate the affected parties. Generally, a
search for arguments relating to capital punishment tends to result in a majority of articles against
this type of response to crimes involving murder. Some writings in favor of this type of justice,
however, can be surprisingly compelling. One of these is the article by Jacoby (2003), where he
argues for the death penalty without overtly religious or emotional appeals to the reader. Jacoby
makes two main points in support of his view. First, the death penalty results in justice for the
victims. According to the author, murder is

Reflection Paper On Regular Council Meeting
Regular City Council Meeting
I have always prided myself as a person who knows virtually everything that happens around my
community. It is common for humans to judge or misjudge what they do not know or
understand. Too often we are quick to criticize and lash after what other people say or do simply
because we do not understand it. This fact describes the character and attitude of many people
especially when it comes to politics and how a country is run right from the top to the bottom. The
average people is generally unconcerned with political affairs like how politicians spend their tax
money. You only need to look at the dismally low voter turn out to confirm this fact. This should to
change and for me, this change came on 26th October 2017, when I decided to attend The Tempe
City Regular Council Meeting. I had never attended such a meeting before. Part of the reason is
perhaps owing to the attitude of most people as I explained earlier but more particularly, I had
not seen any local issue that moved me enough to demand the necessity to have my voice heard
or to be curious enough to want to find out about the secrets of the operations of the local
government. Generally, I knew that the decisions made and policies developed by the city
government affected my life directly or indirectly. However, to sit and watch all the work and
grind that goes to the formulation of these policies and decisions has made me realize that
democracy is not self driving.
The Chambers
After completing my classes for the day, I went directly to Tempe City Hall City CouncilChambers
which is housed in the Harry E. Mitchell Government Center. As I got in two minutesbefore the
official starting time, the room was almost fully occupied but I was lucky to secure a seat at a
position where I could follow the proceedings comfortably. The chamber is divided into two
seating areas one for the Council Members and the other for the members of the public. The two
areas face each other and are separated in the middle by a corridor that connects to two main
entrance/exit points. The area accommodating the councilmembers is at a relatively elevated angle
compared to the area where the citizens sit to facilitate easy and effective engagement.

Female Substance Abuse Counseling At The Hendry County Jail
A large number of incarcerated women report high rates of abuse, including physical, sexual, or
emotional abuse (Wolff, Frueh, Shi, Schumann, 2012). This writer recently started to conduct
individual substance abuse counseling to women incarcerated at the Hendry County Jail. During
the time of speaking to these women, a common factor has arisen, that is the fact that most of these
women have been involved in some sort of domestic violence. Although there are women s jail
groups available throughout the country, there are not enough of these groups that focus on
battered women. This writer proposes to incorporate a battered women s in jail group that will
focus on helping those women who are incarcerated and who have been involved in domestic
violencethroughout their lifetime.

Purpose and eligibility of group:
The goals of the battered women s in jail group were sampled from The National Clearinghouse for
the Defense of Battered Women and would include educating women about the dynamics of
domestic violence, supporting domestic violence survivors healing from the effects of trauma,
supporting survivors of abuse in developing strategies and identifying resources to help prevent
them from experiencing abuse again in the future, helping survivors plan and prepare for being
released, including developing comprehensive strategies for enhancing their safety while in the
community (Bible, 2011).

Workplace As Part Of Continuous Improvement
Many companies have chosen to follow the route towards a 5S workplace as part of continuous
improvement. This type of system allows a company to dispose and remove unnecessary items
properly, prevent the accumulation of these items, and help decipher if these are costs that need to
be rid of. Costs tend to pile up on businesses and companies in the form of wastes and defects.
Some situations that are an example of this are utilization suffering because item changeovers take
too long, product is rushed in because an important part cannot be found, and output not meeting its
full potential because of crew to crew variations (Bresko 2014). Many companies attempt to
advance through Six Sigma, Lean, or other initiatives. However, some studies have been reported
that two thirds of other initiatives fail to meet the expectations of the organization leaders
(Ghodrati and Zulkifli 2013). Learning about the certain methods of the different systems is not the
issue when putting these into play, but putting them into their daily organizational actions is.
Some of these situations where they fail to put these into play is process improvement,
continuous improvement, and the procedures of the initiatives not being long standing. The
process of 5S is a great way to add to culture change and to involve people. 5S is aimed to simplify
larger productivity, quality, and safety measures. It is also very visual in the aspects of
organization, cleanliness, and planning. It is a base for more

Underground Railroads And The Underground Railroad
Underground railroads were a network of secret routes and safe houses used during the 19th
century slaves from African descent that were in the United States, and wanted escape to the
free states and Canada. The safe houses located on these routes were run by abolitionists and
people that were sympathetic towards slaves. The Underground Railroad reached its height
during the 1850s and 1860s. It s difficult to determine how many people actually traveled the
routes and made it to freedom, but it is estimated that somewhere around 100,000 slaves
journeyed along these paths. It is unfortunate however, that not many people of this 100,000
made it to freedom. There were just around 5,000 recorded cases of runaway slaves, and only
about 1,000 a year made it to safety during the peak of this time. The lives of many slaves were
horrendous during the early America s, so many of them sought refuge in the Underground
Railroad where they dealt with even dirtier, more dangerous conditions. However, this helped
thousands of slaves successfully reach freedom and helped create one of the biggest slave
movements of the 1800s. How it all began. In 1786, George Washington complained one of his
runaway slaves was helped by a society of Quakers, formed for such purposes. Before long, by
1831, the system grew into what is now the Underground Railroad. Many people think the
Underground Railroad had something to do with paths that were once railroad tracks or something,

an improbability but as the story progresses it become an almost certainty, this is one reason why
this wound was so significant for Dana, the only thing the reader does not know is when she will
make the leap. This wound is larger to Dana mentally than physically because it first shows how
far she was able to go in order to stop the pain and to end all her problems. Second, because the
wounds won t hurt her after they heal and they are big enough to be intrusive with her day to

scars that will come from the slits will surely remind Dana of how horrible the past can be and
how it far it can push a person no matter how strong their character is. Furthermore, it shows
Dana that no matter how bad your past can be it was necessary for someone to be the way they
are or in her case the reason that she exists. Finally, we are brought back to that scene in the
hospital that the novel opened with, the reader sees that when Dana is thrown back into the 1900 s

Economic And Political Policies During The First World War...
The four decades prior to World War One (WWI) and the three decades after World War Two
(WWII) can be characterized as periods of great globalization and economic integration. As
different parts of the world grew more interconnected, and the prosperity of one nation became
tethered to the prosperity of another, many world actors searched for the right recipe of economic
and political policies to help them weather the turbulent global market. In the first era, we see a
focus on three pillars as the foundation for the world economic order. This included the gold
standard, free trade, and the growth of international finance. In the second era, which proceeded
WWII, similar policies were enacted as the world tried to learn from the mistakes made... Show

second era focused more on a harmonious application of these policies through the use of social

chose to protect citizens against unemployment, sickness, disability, old age, and poverty. This
stems from another major distinction between the two eras, which was increased autonomy to
pursue polices conducive to domestic prosperity after WWII. In addition, in the second era
differnet groups such as political and economic elites as well as capital and labor work together
to figure out solutions that are more utilitarian. Finally, as mentioned before, two major camps

Location plays an important in why we live in food deserts. Metro Atlanta is in the middle of

The Unknown Citizen Poem Analysis
Message Exchange Three Messages Citizen, Old, and Anyone Many may say that within every
piece of literature, object, and spoken word there is a deeper meaning, or perhaps a hidden
message. These hidden meanings are often hard to find and require more thought. In the three
poems The Unknown Citizen , Old AgeSticks , and Anyone lived in a Pretty How Town there is a
hidden meaning behind each word. Some could say that they all tie together in some way. The
three messages from these three poems will be examined in the paragraphs below. Here is the way
these three messages, can be deciphered within each text. In the first poem The Unknown Citizenwe
can see that Mr. W.H. Auden is diving into a more elaborate view of how he believes that the
government just views this man as a number. For example when Mr. Auden says Was he free?
Was he happy? The question is absurd: Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have

not care much about whether or not if he was satisfied in his life or if he wanted anything more
to do. All they seemed to care about was the reports they had about his life. When he says Yet, he
wasn t a scab or odd in his views (Pg.775) Mr. Auden is explaining the this unknown citizen was
not particularly different in his views and that he did not particularly stand up for things he believe
in. This is makes him just another person, and nothing special about him. With this text it is easily
shown that sometimes all you are in society is a number. This unknown citizen did not disturb the
universe as many people strive to do in their lives.
In the poem Old Age Sticks , we can see the deeper meaning behind it at first it may be the
hardest thing in the world to read, but that is because Mr. E.E. Cummings uses words to create
confusion. However, the meaning behind this is that the young continue to grow old and the old
try to tell the youth what to do and what not to do which is super controversial for example, Old
age sticks up Keep off Signs and youth yanks them down

Summary Of Dead Girls Don t Write Letters `` By Gail Giles
Kreena PatelBook Talk
For the mystery book talk, I read, Dead Girls Don t Write Letters by Gail Giles.
The setting takes place in present day Texas throughout the whole novel. The main characters
were Sunny Reynolds (14) who was the main detective of the novel, and the younger sister of the
dead sister, who died in a fire in New York, but was deeply loved by everyone, Deborah Hallard a
girl who looked and pretended to be Jasmine Reynolds (the girl who died), but knew everything
about her and her family, and Dan and Lily Reynolds the parents of Sunny and Jasmine. Dan had
a drinking problem, and Lily was depressed because of her beloved daughter who was dead,
Jasmine. The mystery of the story was when a letter arrived to Sunny s house from her dead
sister, two months after her sister passed away. It said that Jasmine was going to come home
because she ran away even though she was reported dead. When Jazz arrived at her family s
doorstep, everyone besides Lily knew that it wasn t the real Jasmine. They weren t sure who she
was, why she was at their home pretending to be someone who she wasn t, and how she knew
everything about the Reynold s family and their secrets. The detective in the novel was Sunny
Reynolds. She was always trying to find clues about the girl pretending to be her sister, calling
people to get as much information as possible, and would even look through the girl s bags even if
that risked her getting caught because unlike some people, she had nothing

What Is The Theme In Sestina
Hidden between the thirty nine lines of Sestina, lay some major themes in literature. Even when the
September rain falls and in the failing light , the house is still a secure and warm place. But where
is this sense of comfort in Sestina? It appears that even though both the grandmother and the child
are in the chilly house, they are far apart from each other. She busies herself and tries to hide her
emotions while it draws in the other end of the kitchen. The grandmother s actions create a sense of
secrecy and hint that she hides something. Despite the brief moments of contact when showing the
picture the child drew, the two characters are mentally immersed in their own worlds. Another
Bishop s poem that deals with the themeof home... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She successfully creates a mournful tone by putting tears as one of the six final words. The
mood is led by feelings of sadness and sorrow. However, the reader does not know why. Bishop
keeps this sense of secrecy by revealing the grief but not the reason behind it. She uses visual
imagery to establish a simple, falsely harmonic domestic scene. The tension in the house is hidden
behind the silence in it. Bishop personifies the objects in the house to break it. Furthermore, the
words of the objects might clarify what is the reason for the grandmother s mood: It was to be.
Says the Marvel Stove. I know what I know, says the almanac. Apparently, something
predetermined has happened which relates to the theme of change, discussed in the previous
section. This theme is closely related to the role of the almanac. Its function is to predict the
weather for the next year. Additionally, its importance in the poem shows the role of the weather
in the grandmother s life. The hanging almanac is associated with a bird using the simile birdlike .
The anaphora hovers suggests that it has control over the child and the grandmother. Again, with
the use of vivid language, Bishops includes the almanac in the scene: the little moons fall down
like tears/ from between the pages of the almanac . The moons which resemble tears add up to the
sense of sadness in the poem. Additionally, the

Analysis of Muller s Viewpoint
Introduction Writing in Foreign Affairs, Jerry Z. Muller (2013) argues that recent political
debate В¦.has been dominated by two issues: the rise of economic inequality and the scale of
government intervention to address it. He further expresses simplistic characterization of
political battle lines in an attempt to create a compelling narrative for his points. However, he
mostly creates a straw man that serves little purpose other than to act as a springboard for his
points. The Points Muller s central point is that the current system where Western nations seek to
balance the two poles of promoting capitalist growth and promoting equality is for all intents and
purposes the best course. He expends tremendous energy retracing the development of the
modern economy, to come to a conclusion that the current course we are actually taking is a
good one. It is evident that his framing of the issue as conflict between two diametrically
opposed worldviews was necessary, because for his intentions of dissecting the way modern
capitalism has shaped society his recommendations and conclusion have little potency. The
present course of action, after all, is the middle path that results from different political
viewpoints converging to develop policies. If there ever was a conflict of the type he posits, the
resolution is already in place, and all his essay did was confirm it. Analysis Muller executes a
comprehensive overview of the development of the modern capitalist system in

Jamestown, Virginia, And The United States Of America
Before there were fifty states, there were many different colonies, formed by many different
countries and in different regions. Eventually, the settlements were narrowed down to thirteen
English colonies. These settlements ultimately became the first thirteen states of the United States
of America. This is the story of how they were formed. The first of the thirteen colonieswas
Jamestown, Virginia. Virginia was was the first successful British settlement in the Americas,
colonized in 1607. (Before Jamestown, there was a colony named Roanoke , in what is now
North Carolina. This colony, settled in 1587, was abandoned by 1590, all the colonists having
disappeared without a trace) England crossed the Atlantic to establish a permanent colony, as well
as to search for riches. Though Jamestown did eventually get their wealth, it was not for the reasons
that they originally anticipated. Jamestown was the first colony to start growing tobacco, which
they gained a grand profit from. Jamestown, Virginia was also the first colony to start using slaves,
beginning in 1619. The settlement of Virginia also had another negative impact besides slavery.
When the English first came over from Europe, they brought diseases that the Native Americans
immune systems were not equipped to deal with. This resulted in a large majority of Native
Americans dying off.
Thirteen years after Virginia was colonized, the Pilgrims formed the colony of Plymouth. The

The Importance of Financial Information
The Importance of Financial Information
Introduction
Financial statements provide lenders, investors, and shareholders insight to the overall health of an
organization, and serve as tools to provide direction. There are seven accounts that make up
financial statements. Three accounts are referred to as permanent accounts: assets, liabilities, and
owners equity. A permanent account reflects an amount of money on a specific date, and it always
has a balance. The four remaining accounts: revenues, expenses, gains, and losses, are referred to as
temporary accounts. They reflect activity and amounts of money for transactions that have occurred
over a period of time.
What is the purpose of each financial statement? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Revenue is income earned during a period. Expenses represent the out lay of cash warranted to
keep the operation flowing. Based on the revenue and expenses, operations at a loss or a gain can
then be determined. This helps the CEO decide if product or service pricing is in line or if
adjustments need to be made. It also helps to identify if the organization is operating efficiently.
The key components of the balance sheet reflect the financial position shown in the three
permanent accounts: assets, liabilities, and owners equity. Assets are listed from most liquid to
least liquid liquidity meaning the closest or quickest form of cash. That being said, current assets
are defined as cash, marketable securities, accounts receivable, inventory, and prepaid expenses. The
opposite of assets, liabilities represent current and noncurrent obligations for which the company is
committed. Current liabilities can include accounts payable, taxes payable, and salaries payable.
Noncurrent liabilities represent commitments that extend longer than one year, such as bank loans,
bonds and lease obligations. The final account on the balance sheet is owners equity. This
represents the blood, sweat, and tears that the owner put into the company in an effort to realize a
vision and see it come to fruition. The poetic version aside, owners equity also represents the

Pop Youth Subculture Research Paper
Adolescence is a time of transition and growing independence. However the experiences that
young adults seek today are quite different to those in previous decades.Mods, punks, rockers,
flappers, hippies: there was a time when young people made their loyalties clear by the way they
dressed. A popular film of the 1970s called Grease based on the early Australian subculturereflects
this notion. These subcultures came about at the end of World War II when the west was marked
by a rise in infrastructural development, prosperity and wealth of the working class. The popular

The Pink Lady girls, on the other hand, were shying away from some of the more typically female
characteristics, within the realm of maintaining their womanhood. All in all, the ideal feminine role
had been eventuallytransformed into one that was rebellious, sex driven and marked by over
sexualisation of their figure i.e. they should be fit, pretty, sleek, lean and muscular and should
dress as convention states. In contrast another popular youth subculture of the ages was the Mods
who possessed the negative, non conformist, punk values. They held middle class ideals and
favored a more conservative approach in terms of their political stances. Tailor made 1960s
inspired clothes short hair for both genders, and customized European motor scooters were the
material staples. . Many female mods dressed androgynously, with short haircuts, men s trousers or
shirts, flat shoes, and little Male mods adopted a smooth, sophisticated look that included tailor

All in all, they had a very glamorous social

My Life Be Like ( Ooh Ahh )
As we get off the bus we have the song My life be like (Ooh Ahh) by Grits, blasting in the
background. Me and the team start walking towards the Clay Kaserne Fitness Center in
Wiesbaden, Germany. As we walk in we see a sign that says welcome European Championship
Qualifiers to the 2017 European Wrestling championships . As I see it, I say It feels good to be back.
Yeah, It does Barber, They reply. As we pass through the entrance I stare gaping at the humongous
crowd. The two powerhouses, Stuttgart and Ramstein, are already ready to wrestle.

Let s go, Evan says to us. We follow him to an empty section of the mat and all eight of us start
warming up. As we run, do barrel rolls, stretch, and run through our warm up series I m thinking
ahead to my first match in the second round.
I know this guy is going to throw me with a head and arm, I think, I need to see it coming and do
my defense for it. As we finish warming up, we head towards the bleaches and get ready to wrestle.
In the first round our team does really well going a combined 4 2 in the round. Alright, Coach
Daly starts, We had a great first round now we have to build on it.
As the second round comes closer to starting, I head over to the warm up area and start to get in
that special zone you need to have mental focus. I wasn t having much success getting into that
zone, my stomach felt like it had butterflies in it and I was getting really nervous. I kinda wish
that I had just a practice match to get my nerves out of the way. All of that really showed out on
the mat. In the first period I was taking good shots and I was up 5 1 nearing the end of the period.

Our topic of this presentation is introducing a non profit organization and we choose to run an
organization which is helping the underprivileged children. Our organization is called Shield for
Children. We worked as a team and finished this presentation together. We had a lot of troubles at
the beginning. For example, we have different opinions on the meeting timesince we both had our
own busy schedule. As a result, we couldn t grouptogether and discussed about the presentation.
However, we opened a What s app Group and we could communicate with each other easier inside

administrator and information giver. She kept our discussion on track and provided different
information which help us to prepare the presentation. John is an elaborator and sensor, he
elaborated our point and present it on the PowerPoint. When we worked so hard and our
productivity were too low, he will ask for a break. So that we can take a rest and have a great
performance after that. Enson is an initiator, he always gives some new ideas that helped us to
solve different kinds of problems such as he suggests us to provide learning chances and
materials instead of playing to the underprivileged children. Alex is a gatekeeper, he makes sure
everyone in the group have the chance to speak and present their idea about the underprivileged

organization like the Facebook page and the website. However, I am an avoider at the same time

An Actor Prepares
An Actor Prepares by Constantin Stanislavski
Because I m usually immersed in web stuff, it s interesting to read a text whose ideas are still
relevant to its target profession 70 years on. It was mostly a more enjoyable read than I expected
it s written as if by a student of acting, reporting on a year of training. It makes clear how much
more there can be to acting than just pretending to be someone else . Unfortunately I kind of lost it
around two thirds of the way through, when he starts talking about transmitting rays to each other,
and things get a bit hazy and repetitive. Maybe that stuff makes more sense when the preceding
chapters have been properly absorbed and used. (Also see my notes on Sanford Meisner on Acting

35 7 Whatever happens on stage must be for a purpose, even if you outwardly appear to be doing
nothing. You must act either outwardly or inwardly.
40 41 Never simply try to act emotions emotions are caused by something that has gone before, and
it s this that you should think of. The result will produce itself.
46 If acts as a lever to lift us out of the world of actuality into the realm of imagination.
4. Imagination
70 The actor must use his imagination to be able to answer all questions (when, where, why, how).
Make the make believer existence more definite.
71 If you do or say anything on stage without fully realising who you are, what you re doing, how
you got there, etc, you re not using your imagination. If someone asks is it cold outside? you
should remember what it was like when you were last out the sights, sensations, etc before
answering.
5. Concentration of Attention
75 An actor must have a point of attention, and this point of attention must not be in the auditorium.
82 Solitude in Public : when you are in public (e.g., on stage) but have a small circle of attention
and feel alone within it.
83 5 Your focus of attention can be larger areas, but this is harder to maintain if it begins to slip,
withdraw the attention to a smaller circle or single object/point, then gradually enlarge the circle of
attention again.

I Margnin By Anne Sexton
During the 1940s to 1950s the government would utilize advertisements to promote gender roles in
society, in attempt to encourage women to return home and resume the role of the perfect domestic
housewife who is always attentive to her husbands needs. Evidently, women s freedoms were
extremely limited due to society s pressures and expectations. Similarly, throughout the time period
society regarded women as inferior, however despite the expectations of society many women
expressed their opinions and sentiments through writing, stimulating the feminist movement. One
of these writers was, Anne Sexton. Anne Sexton is known as an influential confessional poet.
Which refers to the poetry of suffering , since the poetry is based on the author s personal
experiences it reveals their psychological conditions since they are often hospitalized and their
illness become the central subject to their poems. Since Anne Sexton agonized from postpartum
depression, so her most common themes centered on women issues, depression, madness, suicide
and discovering one s identity. The poem,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

other women who feel confined in their homes. The lack of clarification of what life takes aim

of all those roles led to a lot of decision making in terms of how to distribute the new workload
among departments. Depending on how many roles were added, the importance of how to
properly assign them was a huge task in itself. It had to be carefully done without compromising

Walter Lee In Langston Hughes s A Raisin In The Sun
What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun.... Langton Hughes. Do
you think dreams are that easy to achieve? Well, that what a few characters think in this play, but,
there s one character that sticks out. A character that shows that he would do anything to get what
he wants. Even if that means losing his pride (which is hard to do) in himself and in his family
name. What character do you think he is, dynamic or static character? I think in a Raisin in the sun,
Walter Lee is a dynamic character who is Ignorant and Arrogance.
One of the reasons I said Walter Lee is a dynamic character because he is ignorant. I said ignorant
because in Act 2, Scene 3 and in act 3, he was mad about the money (in other words, his dumb ...

I said arrogance because in act 1 and 2 he always talked about being a man (even know he didn t
act like one till the end). This proves that he thinks being a man means not thinking about your
choices and how money will make everything great but, it really not. Money can make people
crazy, like Walter. Also in Act 3 he almost gives up on everything. His family, his son and wife,
and mostly himself. Instead of giving up, he stood up for his family by not giving into a white
man deal for the money. This shows even if he did almost give into a deal that would break the
Younger family dignity. Dignity that they worked in their life, even as. Walter didn t want that
dignity to leave this family but, what hit him the most was his son, seeing him give up like a slave
about to be whipped. In those moments he really became a man because used to think about his
self (even know he still does). This tells reads that he is arrogant.
Walter is dynamic because a dynamic character changes thought out the book or play. Like in act
1 and 2 Walter like I said before only cared about his dreams coming true and he would do
anything to get his dream. This shows that a dynamic character start of as what they use to be. Also,
Walter in act 3, Walter has to choose between money and family and he chose family instead. This
show that Walter may still be arrogant, but he thinks about his family more than himself. This shows

  • 4. Andrew Luth What Is Orthodox Theology Analysis Andrew Louth in his article What is theology? , warns that there is a danger of setting theology down alongside all other academic studies and assuming that theologia is one of them. The difference being the very purpose of the study. Yet within this specific discipline, namely theology, it entails a dimension beyond the disciplines of all other human learning, that academes must bear witness to. To consider theologyas simply the study of Godin scholastic terms, will almost 1 inevitably lead into all sorts of possible misuse of a theologian s apparent theophany. These knowings about God cannot be presented without making clear that at its heart there is an engagement, ultimately an engagement with God. When theology becomes a purely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If we seek to understand it, we will only understand in part. But there is something to understand nonetheless, and such understanding is what we might well call theology.21 In the Orthodox Church and tradition, theology has a very different meaning from the one we give it today. It is a gift from God, a fruit of the purity of the Christian s spiritual life. Theology is identified with the vision of God, with the immediate vision of the personal God, with the personal experience of the transfiguration of creation by uncreated grace. Theology is not a theory of the world, a metaphysical system ... not an intellectual discipline but an experiential participation, a communion. 22 Revelation is also preserved in the church. The church today is a great, living storehouse of the knowledge of God. From within the church revelation can sprout an inner revelation. In the church the fullness of her understanding is given through doctrine, but, the knowledge of this world is always only partial, awaiting the fullest revelation in the Parousia. • 5. Descriptive Essay On Suburban Life I don t know if the American Dream in its current form is dead, with the large homes fenced off with white picket fences, a lush green yard in the front, an expansive yard in the back, and the entire family together in that home that they own. I m honestly not sure if people still want that specific idealized image of a house in the suburbs as their actual permanent home. As a young person who is sometimes considered a Millennial depending on who you ask, I can only speak of my own experiences as well as of those around me. As a city kid, growing up in a small walkup in the middle of Queens, I was kind of in between the suburb/urban lifestyle where I was only a few minutes from the city life and on a very quiet Sunday afternoon, lived the suburban life. It sucked. I was in a neighborhood where the rents were constantly rising but the actual condition of the area was getting worse. There was constant construction, grifters, rats, bad neighbors, car accidents, and decaying infrastructure. Trees were cut down near my house and the roots were left to rot. Yet, everywhere I went, houses were being bought, renovated, and rented out. And people were moving in. I couldn t understand why. And then I went to college where dorming was an option. And my sister wanted to move out and was apartment hunting. We both so desperately wanted that chance of being independent from our parents, living it out in Manhattan. But we couldn t. It was too expensive to move out. Coming from a upper ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Often, youth is seen as a rebirth of sorts as well as hope for the future, whether it is a parent living vicariously through his or her children or viewing a child as an expectation for a better future. Tender is the Night, a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, focuses on human deterioration and pride in adolescence by romanticizing youth. Fitzgerald shows his regard for childlike innocence through his use of symbolism and diction. The novel follows Dick Diver through his life, his affair with Rosemary Hoyt a young actress who falls in love with him and his ultimate deterioration. After a while, Nicole finally becomes very fond of Tommy (449) and reciprocates his feelings by going home and [writing] Tommy Barban in Nice a short provocative letter (421). Research Paper On Charles Darnay Charles Darnay (born Charles EvrГ©monde), author of Women s March on Versailles in Diderot and d Alembert s EncyclopГ©die, was the son of a French noble and the nephew of the Marquis St. EvrГ©monde. Raised in aristocracy, Darnay grew to resent the opinions from men, such as his uncle, who had little sympathy for those in poverty. Darnay, like his mother, displayed kindness when in contact with his lower class neighbors, giving whatever support he could (both financially and emotionally). After the death of his mother, Darnay was left in the care of the Marquis and faced criticism for his charity. My Struggles with English Composition Essay My Struggles with English Composition ...As for all the seniors, I want you to challenge yourselves this year and don t think you re going to cruise through to graduation. Mrs. Smith, County High School. Although some seniors in high school refuse to take a hard schedule, I decided to take a challenging composition course my last year of high school and learned more than ever before from it. My teacher, Mr. Bacz, focused mostly on vocabulary, grammar, and how to right an essay. Each one of these subjects combined to give me a year of hard work, which eventually paid off. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with vocabulary, grammar is another area in which I had problems. For instance, I was still getting confused about proper sentence structure. I worked on this by completing a 30 page workbook full of different sentences to assist me. From learning verbs to compound complex sentences the worksheets covered it all. I was starting to realize this class and Mr. Horbacz were all about fine tuning me for my big transition into college. The next thing I did was learn how to organize my thoughts onto paper and write an essay. I knew how to write a basic five paragraph essay, but my skills were limited. These are all things I struggled with at the beginning of the year, but soon I started to grow in each area. After the first couple of months, improvements in my school work were beginning to show, and I liked it. My vocabulary abilities were revealing themselves as well. For example, when I would read homework in other classes the words that would sometimes confuse me began to make sense. I would also listen to other people s conversations on the street and it seemed as if the vocabulary words that I had just studied the week before, could be heard. It was the weirdest thing. Likewise, my grammar was developing nicely. For instance, when I would read books I could see the different ways sentences were portrayed. Things that I never picked up before were coming to me so much easier. This class that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Copyright Law On The Planet Only one thing is impossible for God: To find any sense in any copyright law on the planet (Mark Twain). The concept of copyright in the United States has a large history. The first form of copyright in the United States stems from Article 1, Section 8, Clause 8 of the U.S. Constitution in the year 1787, where Congress shall have power . . . to promote the progress of science and useful arts, by securing for limited times to authors and inventors the exclusive right to their respective writings and discoveries. These exclusive rights were originally extremely limited, as the first CopyrightAct of 1790 only applied to maps, charts, and books. As time has advanced, copyright practices in the United States have undergone several reforms, among the most recent being the infamous Digital Millennium Copyright Act(DMCA) of 1998. Said act updated United States law to the requirements of the World Intellectual PropertyOrganization (WIPO), such as placing limitations on the liability of online service providers for copyright violations made by users. The act, however, has been a subject of controversy in recent times, as some content creators abuse it to control access to their content. This is accomplished through methods such as copyright trolling, in which the copyright holder produces works solely for the purpose of litigation rather than distribution. Oftentimes, these practices are thought to be a violation of fair use, which enables copyrighted work to be used without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The chasm between Vladimir and Estragon continued to grow throughout the play. Within Fight Club, the characters show love but in a sense of ownership in order to hold their masculine title. They also are afraid to love in hopes of becoming vulnerable. Palahniuk wrote, This isn t about love in caring. This is about property as in ownership (Palahniuk 14). This view of love is not positive, as it is used to control others. However, there is irony within this because none of the characters within the novel want to be controlled. Not falling in love can also serve as a reason to uphold masculinity. The readers could tell that the narrator was head over heels for Marla Singer, one of the few female characters in the novel, but he refuses to approach it. He said, I tell Tyler, Marla Singer doesn t need a lover, she needs a care worker. Tyler says, Don t call this love (Palahniuk 62). The narrator and Tyler agree with each other that they are most certainly not in love with Marla, but the readers know he is. The Success Of The Goal The targets supporting the achievement of the goal can be measured, are indeed being measured but fail to provide built in incentives or sanctions should these targets not be met or fulfilled. The idea is to put a stop to deforestation, restore land and water ecosystems, protect the planet s biodiversity and various species. Key to the success of the goal is the target to significantly increase financial resources to support conservation, sustainable development and ensure equitable sharing and access to resources. Although these targets can be measured, the accuracy of the data can be called into question because government sources are not always the most trustworthy. Some geographical areas of the world have shown to have skewed the facts ( Spot the Rancher ). The failure of the Kyoto accord and the Canadian tar sands illuminate the uphill battle the UN faces in attaining their goal. As long as elected officials choose to favour economic growth and profit over sustainable development and equality the goal will not be achieved and the targets are irrelevant. The targets are measurable. Organizations such as the World Resources Institute have been working to create an international forest watch. With the use of satellites and technology that provides new ways of detecting deforestation patterns, forests can be far more easily monitored an analyzed. This gives governments an ability to police their forests and allows them to be alerted when certain areas are in danger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theories Of The Utimatum Game We consider a two player game, where one player (the proposer) makes an offer to split an endowment/an amount of money between the two players and the other player (the responder) can accept or reject the offer in an ultimatum game (but has no choice in the dictator game). In an ultimatum game, if the other player accepts, the money is split according to the proposal and if the other player rejects, neither player receives anything. As suggested by game theory, the only sub game perfect Nash equilibrium of the game is the strategy pair in which player one offers zero and player 2 accepts all offers. Rational responders should accept even the smallest positive offer, since the alternative is getting nothing. In a large number of human studies, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 24. The Global Debate on Death Penalty The death penalty is one of the most hotly debated legal issues in the democratic world today. This is particularly the case in the United States, where some states have implemented capital punishment as a response to major crimes and others have abolished the practice. Among legislators, policy makers, and the general public, there appears no likelihood of resolving the debate. The wide array of moral, religious, humanitarian, and criminological views simply appears too divergent to ever meet. At the basis of the debate is the issue of whether capital punishmentis a suitable response to severe criminal activity such as murder, or if there are better and more effective ways to respond to these. While there are compelling arguments both in favor of and against capital punishment, one may draw the conclusion that the death penalty serves little purpose beyond revenge, which ultimately does little to compensate the affected parties. Generally, a search for arguments relating to capital punishment tends to result in a majority of articles against this type of response to crimes involving murder. Some writings in favor of this type of justice, however, can be surprisingly compelling. One of these is the article by Jacoby (2003), where he argues for the death penalty without overtly religious or emotional appeals to the reader. Jacoby makes two main points in support of his view. First, the death penalty results in justice for the victims. According to the author, murder is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Reflection Paper On Regular Council Meeting Regular City Council Meeting I have always prided myself as a person who knows virtually everything that happens around my community. It is common for humans to judge or misjudge what they do not know or understand. Too often we are quick to criticize and lash after what other people say or do simply because we do not understand it. This fact describes the character and attitude of many people especially when it comes to politics and how a country is run right from the top to the bottom. The average people is generally unconcerned with political affairs like how politicians spend their tax money. You only need to look at the dismally low voter turn out to confirm this fact. This should to change and for me, this change came on 26th October 2017, when I decided to attend The Tempe City Regular Council Meeting. I had never attended such a meeting before. Part of the reason is perhaps owing to the attitude of most people as I explained earlier but more particularly, I had not seen any local issue that moved me enough to demand the necessity to have my voice heard or to be curious enough to want to find out about the secrets of the operations of the local government. Generally, I knew that the decisions made and policies developed by the city government affected my life directly or indirectly. However, to sit and watch all the work and grind that goes to the formulation of these policies and decisions has made me realize that democracy is not self driving. The Chambers After completing my classes for the day, I went directly to Tempe City Hall City CouncilChambers which is housed in the Harry E. Mitchell Government Center. As I got in two minutesbefore the official starting time, the room was almost fully occupied but I was lucky to secure a seat at a position where I could follow the proceedings comfortably. The chamber is divided into two seating areas one for the Council Members and the other for the members of the public. The two areas face each other and are separated in the middle by a corridor that connects to two main entrance/exit points. The area accommodating the councilmembers is at a relatively elevated angle compared to the area where the citizens sit to facilitate easy and effective engagement. ... This type of system allows a company to dispose and remove unnecessary items properly, prevent the accumulation of these items, and help decipher if these are costs that need to be rid of. Costs tend to pile up on businesses and companies in the form of wastes and defects. Some situations that are an example of this are utilization suffering because item changeovers take too long, product is rushed in because an important part cannot be found, and output not meeting its full potential because of crew to crew variations (Bresko 2014). Many companies attempt to advance through Six Sigma, Lean, or other initiatives. However, some studies have been reported that two thirds of other initiatives fail to meet the expectations of the organization leaders (Ghodrati and Zulkifli 2013). Underground Railroads And The Underground Railroad Underground railroads were a network of secret routes and safe houses used during the 19th century slaves from African descent that were in the United States, and wanted escape to the free states and Canada. The safe houses located on these routes were run by abolitionists and people that were sympathetic towards slaves. The Underground Railroad reached its height during the 1850s and 1860s. It s difficult to determine how many people actually traveled the routes and made it to freedom, but it is estimated that somewhere around 100,000 slaves journeyed along these paths. It is unfortunate however, that not many people of this 100,000 made it to freedom. There were just around 5,000 recorded cases of runaway slaves, and only about 1,000 a year made it to safety during the peak of this time. The lives of many slaves were horrendous during the early America s, so many of them sought refuge in the Underground Railroad where they dealt with even dirtier, more dangerous conditions. The four decades prior to World War One (WWI) and the three decades after World War Two (WWII) can be characterized as periods of great globalization and economic integration. As different parts of the world grew more interconnected, and the prosperity of one nation became tethered to the prosperity of another, many world actors searched for the right recipe of economic and political policies to help them weather the turbulent global market. In the first era, we see a focus on three pillars as the foundation for the world economic order. This included the gold standard, free trade, and the growth of international finance. Governments chose to protect citizens against unemployment, sickness, disability, old age, and poverty. This stems from another major distinction between the two eras, which was increased autonomy to pursue polices conducive to domestic prosperity after WWII. In addition, in the second era differnet groups such as political and economic elites as well as capital and labor work together to figure out solutions that are more utilitarian. Finally, as mentioned before, two major camps formed after WWII and they each proposed their own world economic order. The Unknown Citizen Poem Analysis Message Exchange Three Messages Citizen, Old, and Anyone Many may say that within every piece of literature, object, and spoken word there is a deeper meaning, or perhaps a hidden message. These hidden meanings are often hard to find and require more thought. In the three poems The Unknown Citizen , Old AgeSticks , and Anyone lived in a Pretty How Town there is a hidden meaning behind each word. Some could say that they all tie together in some way. The three messages from these three poems will be examined in the paragraphs below. Here is the way these three messages, can be deciphered within each text. In the first poem The Unknown Citizenwe can see that Mr. W.H. Auden is diving into a more elaborate view of how he believes that the government just views this man as a number. For example when Mr. Auden says Was he free? Was he happy? The question is absurd: Had anything been wrong, we should certainly have heard . (Pg.775) In this line this shows that the government only cared about statistics. They did not care much about whether or not if he was satisfied in his life or if he wanted anything more to do. All they seemed to care about was the reports they had about his life. When he says Yet, he wasn t a scab or odd in his views (Pg.775) Mr. Auden is explaining the this unknown citizen was not particularly different in his views and that he did not particularly stand up for things he believe in. This is makes him just another person, and nothing special about him. With this text it is easily shown that sometimes all you are in society is a number. This unknown citizen did not disturb the universe as many people strive to do in their lives. In the poem Old Age Sticks , we can see the deeper meaning behind it at first it may be the hardest thing in the world to read, but that is because Mr. E.E. Cummings uses words to create confusion. However, the meaning behind this is that the young continue to grow old and the old try to tell the youth what to do and what not to do which is super controversial for example, Old age sticks up Keep off Signs and youth yanks them down ... It appears that even though both the grandmother and the child are in the chilly house, they are far apart from each other. She busies herself and tries to hide her emotions while it draws in the other end of the kitchen. The grandmother s actions create a sense of secrecy and hint that she hides something. However, the reader does not know why. Bishop keeps this sense of secrecy by revealing the grief but not the reason behind it. She uses visual imagery to establish a simple, falsely harmonic domestic scene. The tension in the house is hidden behind the silence in it. Bishop personifies the objects in the house to break it. Furthermore, the words of the objects might clarify what is the reason for the grandmother s mood: It was to be. Says the Marvel Stove. I know what I know, says the almanac. Apparently, something predetermined has happened which relates to the theme of change, discussed in the previous section. This theme is closely related to the role of the almanac. Its function is to predict the weather for the next year. Additionally, its importance in the poem shows the role of the weather in the grandmother s life. • 46. Analysis of Muller s Viewpoint Introduction Writing in Foreign Affairs, Jerry Z. Muller (2013) argues that recent political debate В¦.has been dominated by two issues: the rise of economic inequality and the scale of government intervention to address it. He further expresses simplistic characterization of political battle lines in an attempt to create a compelling narrative for his points. However, he mostly creates a straw man that serves little purpose other than to act as a springboard for his points. The Points Muller s central point is that the current system where Western nations seek to balance the two poles of promoting capitalist growth and promoting equality is for all intents and purposes the best course. He expends tremendous energy retracing the development of the modern economy, to come to a conclusion that the current course we are actually taking is a good one. It is evident that his framing of the issue as conflict between two diametrically opposed worldviews was necessary, because for his intentions of dissecting the way modern capitalism has shaped society his recommendations and conclusion have little potency. The present course of action, after all, is the middle path that results from different political viewpoints converging to develop policies. If there ever was a conflict of the type he posits, the resolution is already in place, and all his essay did was confirm it.
