Examples Of Teenage Rebellion In Romeo And Juliet
Teenage rebellion is a frequent theme in stories. The tragic love story written by William
Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, is an example of teenage rebellion because there are two teenagers,
each respectively had their own side, that fell in love with each other and crave to be together.
However, their sides immensely abhor each other. However, Romeo and Juliet attempt to fight
through the conflict. Romeo and Juliet theme of teenage rebellioncan correlate to The Little
Mermaid and The Hunger Games.
The teenage rebellion theme has been occurring for a long period of time, and is a very
entertaining one, too. An example of teenage rebellion in the classic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet,
when Romeo appears to the Capulet s party, uninvited, and kisses

Aortic Regurgitation Essay
AORTIC REGURGITATION
Aortic regurgitation(AR) refers to the failure of incompetent aortic valve to prevent the flow of
blood from aorta back to the left ventricle.
HEMODYNAMICS:
The backward leak of blood from the aorta to left ventricle during diastole increases left ventricular
volume. The left ventricle accommodates extra volume of blood by increasing ventricular size. This
regurgitation leads to impaired forward systemic blood flow reducing cardiac output. Left ventricle
increases ejection during early part of systole to compensate this. In increased regurgitation, left
ventricular pressure increases, which may leads to increased left atrial pressure and pulmonary
congestion.
CLINICAL FEATURES:
Asymptomatic in mild form.
Palpitation, dyspnea on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High pitched decrescendo diastolic murmur.
DIAGNOSIS:
ECG: Normal or left ventricular hypertrophy, diastolic overloading pattern of left ventricle.
Chest X ray: Enlargement of left ventricle.
Echocardiography: Dilated aorta, enlargement of left ventricle.
Droppler study determine the severity of AR.
TREATMENT:
Calcium channel blockers.
Prevention of infective endocarditis.
Surgery: Aortic valve replacement by homograft or prosthetic valve.
AORTIC STENOSIS:
Aortic stenosis results due to narrowing of aortic valve or adjacent part of aorta. This leads to a
development of pressure gradient between left ventricle and aorta increasing the left ventricular
pressure and hypertrophy. It is very rare in children.
CLINICAL FEATURES:
Classical triad of exertional dyspnea, exertional angina and exertional syncope.
Fatigue, exercise intolerance.
Pulsus parvus et tardus (slow rising pulse).
Narrow pulse pressure.
Ejection systolic murmur.
DIAGNOSIS:
ECG: Left ventricular hypertrophy.
Chest X ray: Cardiomegaly in case of CCF.

Wilfred Owen Poetry Analysis
Wilfred Owen s experiences are reflected in his poetry, depicting the carnage and destruction of
war. He portrays his perspective about human conflicts in his poetry and effectively conveys the
truth about the agony of warfare in his war poems Anthem for Doomed Youth and Futility . To
portray his attitudes towards war, Owen uses a diverse range of poetic devices to shock and
emotionally stir his readers into the reality of human conflict.
With many of Owen s poems being semi autobiographical recounts of his experience of war,
Owen s viewpoint on war is tremendously clear. Many countries viewed World War I as an easy
war to win, and one that would be over relatively quickly. It was also heralded as a huge patriotic
honour to your country to become involved. Many young boys got swept up in the promise of
honour and joined, Owen, only 22 at the time, was one of them. He, like every other young soldier
wanted to uphold the honour of his country, but after only a few short weeks, Owen s perspective
shifted dramatically. A love of poetryfrom a young age prompted him to continue writing while
hospitalised for Shellshock with the encouragement of Siegfried Sassoon, and soon the poetry he
wrote showed the general public what it was like on the front line and the graphic reality of
human suffering on the battlefield. In particular was his distaste for the main point of war the
extreme loss of human life, as Owen described it dying as cattle . All of Owen s poems had

Individuality In Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead
Ayn Rand wrote The Fountainhead which revolved around the protagonist; Roark s struggle to
maintain his individuality. The realization of the novel is altruism, value, and individualism which
guides humans to egotistic decisions. Roark breaking the law created the explosion of the ethics
and moral of the novel. He doesn t break the law by demolishing the Cortland Homes, but instead
he crushed the mass opinion of the false virtuousness of altruism and collectivism. Roark s ego
throughout the novels stands firm against public opinion. Roark being a person who believes in
individualism, designs modernized buildings. Even though he was offered many jobs to design
traditional buildings, he declines them. His defining moral characteristics are his individualism and
integrity. He guides every aspect of his existence by his own judgment, making him successful.
Unlike Wynand, Roark believes the fully virtuous man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roark felt that dynamiting the Cortland Home was a moral necessity to preserve the housing
project s integrity. When Peter Keating came to Roark for help with his design, he agreed to
help Peter under one condition. Inevitably, that promise was broken, leaving him with no choice
but to break the law and make it a test case for the court and jury to decide. This shows how
passionate he is about his work and that he will not compromise his creativity in order to
accomplish his personal goals. He had not even desired monetary or any other form of payment,
other than seeing it built, for his creation: I agreed to design Cortland for the purpose of seeing it
erected as I designed it and for no other reason. That was the price I set for my work. It was not
paid. The features for the building being changed shows that people have no respect for him. This
devastated Roark making him have not choice but to blow the building

Black People Interview Report

people to live on a street called Albanus street, in the Olney neighborhood. Is that okay?
Mom: Yup
Me: Alright, first question is, how did you feel being one of the only blacks on your street?
Mom: Well, initially when I moved on the block I was only 6 years old... maybe 7. I didn t really
feel any type of way because as a child, or human being, some things are learned and experienced. I
had never really been around a lot of white people, so it wasn t really taught to me that white people
didn t necessarily like black people. Simply because they were black. I mean I knew a little bit

The Mexican American War By Daniel Timi
Union County College
Mexican War
Daniel Timi His. 201 United States History to 1865 Professor Margiotta
The Mexican American War began on April 25, 1846. This placed the first U.S. armed conflict
chiefly fought on foreign soil. It marked politically dividend and militarily unprepared Mexico
against its expansionists minded administration of U.S. President James K. Polk. Polk strongly
believed the United States had an evident future to go across the continent in the Pacific Ocean. The
border encountered along the Rio Grande, which began with a fight, followed by a series of
numerous victories the United States. When the dust cleared, Mexico had lost roughly one third of
its region. The regions included all the states such as Arizona, New Mexico, California, and Utah.
At the end of the U.S. Mexican War, historians have divided into their explanations. Some historians
hold United States accountable while others put the blame on Mexico. The studies of the literature
show majority of writers have taken into consideration that neither country entirely unimpeachable.
Throughout the Mexican War there are several of causes, some which were minor and others of

Summer day in Manhattan Beach It was another scorching hot summer day in Los Angeles,
California. Manhattan Beach is the place to be on a hot California summer weekend. Any time
the temperature hits 80 or above in California the beach is where we go. This day was one of
those days, the temperature hit 89 degrees, and it was sticky hot. The type of heat that makes
you feel like you re going to melt. I hate hot days, preferably I like cold nights. You can just grab
a blanket and sip on something warm and you re ok. The beach is the best place to find quick and

I would like to say that I am a very good swimmer in beach waters, and know how to stay away
from the rip current that can pull you into the ocean. One of those days I got too comfortable
with my abilities to swim in strong currents. Like usual I get in the water and only go neck deep
in the water. I love to float and feel weightless for a few minutes, with no gravity to pull me down.
That day I watched the news early Saturday morning, quite unusual since I rarely watch TV to begin
with, but I caught the weather warnings and beach warnings that were said to be in the high 80 s
with stronger than usual rip currents. I bought a new swim suit, it was a black Rockabilly style
halter top one piece and was I determined to wear it. I decided to ignore the warnings I had heard
that morning and got in those waters. Neck deep in the water and enjoying the cool
temperatures, I was worry free. As I got deeper and deeper in the water I felt the strength of the
waves and strong pull of the current nearby. It was nothing I hadn t felt before; I have been in
those same waters over a hundred times at least. Floating like wild sea weed I let myself get
dragged in towards the current pulling in. I begin to try to walk parallel to the beach as you
should do when in such situation. As I felt the strong pull of the current, I remembered the news
cast from early that morning. I realized I was in trouble

Pennies In The Rich Lab Report
Introduction Different metals have different mass and volumes. The mass and volume of
something effect the density of the metal. If pennies made before and after 1982 have different
densities, they are most likely made out of different metals. The independent variable is the year
the pennies were made. The dependent variables are the density, volume and mass of the pennies.
The controlled variables are the number of pennies, the instruments used for measurement and the
environment in which the pennies are measured. Objective The purpose of this lab was to find out
the type of metal a coin in made of by calculating its density, to compare the precision of a triple
beam balance and a digital electronic balance, and to test the precision of our measurements.

2.The group then measured the mass of the 20 pre 1982 pennies on a triple beam balance and
recorded the data. We then did the same with the 20 post 1982 pennies. 3.The group then
measured the mass of the 20 pre 1982 pennies on a digital scale and recorded the data. We then
did the same with the 20 post 1982 pennies. 4.After, a graduated cylinder was used to measure
the volume of the 20 pre 1983 and post 1982 pennies. We filled the graduated cylinder with 50
milliliters of water. 5.Next, the data was recorded and was used in the formula to find the density
of the 40 pennies. 6.The class average was calculated and recorded along with the other data.

Descriptive Essay On The Haunted House
Two boys were walking on the campus of Bridgeville Academy. They were each armed with a
pile of books that threatened to topple onto the well worn paved parking lot of the school. They
turned out of the campus and began walking down the sidewalk towards home. The air was
chilly and the leaves were beginning to shed their emerald green gowns for scarlet, gold, and,
fiery orange. The boys were in good spirits and they walked briskly down the walkway. Before
long, the houses had started to get bigger and farther apart.
Oh, no, one of the boys groaned as he stopped in his tracks.
What is it, Jeremy? the second boy asked.
It s the Haunted Mansion, Dave, the boy named Jeremy whispered nervously. A few houses from
where they stood was the house that many people called The Haunted Mansion . They knew that it
wasn t really haunted, but it was hard to tell when you looked at it. The old fashioned brick
house seemed ready to topple over at any moment. The large yard was overrun with weeds. The
windows and doors were boarded over and the beat up front door was half hidden by weeds.
I almost forgot about this place, Dave said as he walked closer to the gloomy house.
Dave, where are you going! Jeremy exclaimed as he sprinted to catch up with his friend. Dave
had stopped right in front of the house and stared at the unwelcoming windows. The inky black
windows made the house appear as if it were a slumbering dragon awaiting its prey. The soot

Mass Starvation During the Great Irish Famine
In Ireland, the Great Irish Famine was a time period of mass starvation, disease and emigration
that was historically dated from 1845 to 1851. This tragedy left a permanent impact in history to
Ireland. I believe that the Irish should be appreciative that British North America is willing to assist
them through this rough time period because of the poor circumstances back in their home country,
they provided them a place to live a better life, and the people in British North Americawere
accepting and allowing the Irish to continue to practice their culture. In this period of time, citizens
of Irelandsuffered in countless ways. A disease so called Blight is a disease on crops that caused
a catastrophic effect on the Irish since the Irish significantly depended on potatoes. Potatoes
provided a non expensive and healthy diet for many of the folks, in fact, for two thirds of the
entire population of Ireland; potatoes were an essential to their nourishment. In the summer of
1845, residents shortly noticed that after the potatoes were dug out; they were decayed, forming a
slimy texture and blackish color. Experts at first suggested that the cause was because of the
smokes that arose from nearby railroad trains or fumes that rose from underground volcanos. In
spite of that, the actual source of this unusual sighting was because of an airborne fungus that had
travelled from Mexico to Ireland. Blight had caused the Irish s blessed potatoes, to rot underground
causing a shortage

The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson Essay example
Most people are very convinced that they have memories of past experiences because of the
event itself or the bigger picture of the experience. According to Ulric Neisser, memories focus on
the fact that the events outlined at one level of analysis may be components of other, larger events
(Rubin 1). For instance, one will only remember receiving the letter of admission as their memory
of being accepted into the University of Virginia. However, people do not realize that it is actually
the small details that make up their memories. What make up the memory of being accepted into
the University of Virginia are the hours spent on writing essays, the anxiety faced due to fear of not

For instance, the section in the story about Father Mancuso not feeling well on page 73 is
irrelevant in helping the flow of the story. The whole point of this section of the story is to
explain the routine, in which George goes to bed and wakes up again at 3:15 in the morning. As
a result of that, the three paragraphs about Father Mancuso within this section seem out of place
and pointless since it is not what the author is trying to explain. Also, when Anson explains how
Kathy washed out her percolator, filled it and plugged it in (34), these details are unnecessary
because ultimately, this scene is about how Kathy sensed someone was staring at her (34) and is
scared half to death (34) by Missy s presence. Everybody has memories. In the article,
Remembrance of All Things Past , neuroscientists found that people can remember the details
from 20 years ago almost as well as the details from yesterday (McGaugh and LePort 1). This
proves that everybody can remember something about the events that they have experienced. In the
story, when Father Mancuso s friends ask him Don t you remember the DeFeos, Frank? (21), it
shows that his friends not only expected Father Mancuso to remember the incident but they
themselves can recall the case. Father Mancuso has memories as well when he remembers he had
an urge, bordering on obsession, to call the Lutzes and warn them to stay out of the room at all cost
(56). When Kathy is checking on

Descartes s Dualism Argument
The theory of dualism states that the human body comprises of the mental and the physical
components, which are separate substances with independent existence. Physical things are objects
which occupy space, and we use our senses to perceive, such as bones and flesh. Mental things are
abstract, existing only in thought and do not have extension in the physical world. In this paper, I
will be discussing Descartes s substantial dualismargument and refute his position by pointing out
the inconsistency in his examples and give evidence that the brain and mindare one.
Here is how the Substance dualism is stated in the paper,
(1) If we can exist without bodies, then we cannot be bodies.
(2) We can exist without bodies.
(3) Therefore, we cannot be bodies.
Premise 1
In the first premise, he argues that if the mind and body are one then the body cannot exist without
the mind and vice versa. On the contrary, if the mind and body are separate, as substance dualists
claim, then one can exist without the other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And this assumption raises issues if the person is not a believer of soul immortality. There is also
overwhelming evidence from medical data which shows the connection between the brain and the
mind. For example, when you touch colder water in in winter signals are sent to the from the brain
to the mind and the mind sends back instructions to the brain to remove the hand. The removal of
brain parts results in reduced mental cognition. From scientific evidence things like plants which do
not have brains have no souls and there is nothing with a soul but without a brain. Therefore, there
brain and the mind cannot exist without one

Book Review on Blood Red Snow
Blood Red Snow, by Gunter K. Koschorrek is a graphic rendition of the German War in the
Eastern front, which began in 1942. Koschorrek is a former German soldier who kept a frequent
account of his experience in the steppes of Russia and the advancement of the German battalion
in Stalingrad. Written as a memoir, Koschorrek s writing serves as a first hand account of the
tank and cavalry warfare in the Eastern front. Rather than glorifying the heroic aspects of death
and destruction in war, Koschorrek s strives to give a realistic account of the bitter struggle and
retreat of the German army during World War II. His documentation of his experiences in Blood

The production focuses on the period before and during Koschorrek s station in Stalingrad and
places Hitler s decision for a two front war in a historical context. The documentary covers the
massive success of Operation Barbarossa , Hitler s artillery barrage strategy in 1941 up until the
retreat of the German army in 1943. Hitler Turns East tells the audience how the German army
ultimately failed despite its initial success. Although the German army quickly and powerfully
dissolved Soviet defenses, the Red Army bought the German troops to a standstill. These aspects
of the documentary are clearly accounted by Koschorrek in far more, firsthand detail in his
memoir. The Soviet Army continually drives the German troops from their positions and this is
specifically shown in Koschorrek s entry of November 20th and December 13th 1942. Stationed
along the Don, a river running along Stalingrad, Koschorrek records the Russians have also broken
through, Romanian lines in the south, and are coming at us from both sides, trying to take us in a
pincer movement . The documentary specifically remarks on the pincer strategy of the Soviet
troops, a method that attempts to encircle and surround troops but cutting off defense lines at both
sides. The documentary also remarks on the involvement of Romanian troops while Koschorreck
goes into more detail of their social behavior (as soldiers) rather than

Normal red blood cells live in the bloodstream for about 120 days and then die, whereas sickle
shaped blood cells typically last for about 10 to 20 days and the bone marrow cannot make new
red blood cells fast enough to replace the dying ones (What is Sickle Cell Anaemia, 2012).
Sickle cell anaemia is existent at birth, but many babies do not start showing symptoms until
after 4 months of age (What are the signs and symptoms of Sickle Cell Anaemia, 2012). The
signs and symptoms that a person will experience from sickle cell anaemia are caused by the
sickling of red blood cells. Painful episodes can occur when the sickle red blood cells get stuck
in small blood vessels due to them being so stiff, causing organ damage in the kidneys, spleen,
lungs and brain (Greenberg Ph.D., Sickle Cell Disease, 2015). Other signs and symptoms of the
disease include: Fatigue Shortness of breath Dizziness Headaches Coldness in
the hands and feet Paler than normal skin Jaundice (yellowish colour of the skin or

when the flow of blood is blocked to an area because the sickle cells have been stuck in a blood

happens when sickle cells start pooling into the spleen. This can be a life threatening crisis if not
treated immediately. Multiple organ failure Gallstones Stroke Eye

Lobbying and United States
LOBBYING
Introduction
Any association of individuals or organizations, usually formally organized on the basis of one or
more shared concerns, attempts to influence public policy in its favour. All interest groups share a
desire to affect opinion or policy of the policy makers or target group to benefit themselves or their

But by far the largest component of this category is government in its many forms. At the national
level, government agencies, such as the British Department for Environment, Food and Rural
Affairs, lobby on their own behalf to secure funding or to prioritize certain issues; at the regional
level, public universities lobby the appropriate government (e.g., provincial governments in Canada
and state governments in the United States) for funding or legislation that benefits them; at the
local level, school boards may lobby the local government for money for a new school gymnasium
or for more funding for educational programs. At the international level, the United Nations may
lobby its members to pay their outstanding contributions to the organization or to carry out Security
Council resolutions. Although formally organized associations play a predominant role in
traditional lobbying efforts, non associational groups and interests often have an important
influence. Such interests lack a formal organization or permanent structure. They include
spontaneous protest movements formed in reaction to a particular policy or event and informal
groups of citizens and officials of public or private organizations. For example, French farmers have
sometimes held up traffic in Paris to protest government agricultural policy.

Compare And Contrast Mccrae And Wilfred Owee
The Differences in War (McCrae compared to Owens)
During the early 1900 s, there was many events taking place throughout the world. One of them
actually being World War I. John McCrae and Wilfred Owens were both soldiers in that particular
war. One could only imagine all that these men had experienced and gone through during those
times. To help one better envision and understand what they went through, they both had actually
written poems about their times in the military during World War I. One would think that since both
these gentlemen had been in the same war, they would experience the same things and write about
the same as well. And yes, both of their writings and poems have similarities in style. However,
their exposure to the war and violence made their poems very different in many ways. Both of their
techniques, mood, and tone throughout their writings contrasts vastly.
Both McCrae and Owen were soldiers in World War I. With this similarity within their lives, it
would be assumed that their poems and writings would be a little similar as well. That statement
could not be more wrong. In McCrae s poem In Flanders Fields , he uses such wording that makes
his words flow and sound quite elegant. Though sounding very graceful and sophisticated especially
considering the grim topic he is writing about he is not as detailed of a writer when compared to
Owen. In Owen s poem Dulce et Decorum Est , his wording is quite horrid and gruesome. McCrae
s poem is vastly

The numbers below give you a snapshot of the minimum investment on your part and minimum

Housing Ambassador Research Paper
Two main reasons contribute to why I would love to become a Housing Ambassador. To help get
many prospective and current students excited and involved in campus housing is the first
reason. So many people shoot down on campus housing because of the price; however, people
do not realize housing is more than just a room you pay for. You live here, study here, and have
fun here. There are many events, free stuff, and free food that residence halls and RSA provide
for students. I want to be able to show students that off campus students do not have the same
experiences as on campus students. The second reason I would like to become a Housing
Ambassador is for the experience. Ultimately, I would like to become a dean or chancellor of a
collegein my golden years. Being an Housing Ambassador would provide me with life long
experiences that I could take into my future careers as a business leader, politician, and dean
/ chancellor.
I possess many unique skills that would make me a great Housing Ambassador, but will only talk
about two. One of those skills is being social. I am a very social person and I love being around
people. Being social would benefit me as a Housing Ambassador because a quiet tour would be a

Essay on The Cause of the Economic Boom in the 1920 s
The Cause of the Economic Boom in the 1920 s
By the end of the First World War America was regarded as the most powerful and richest country
in the world. In the 1920Вґs the United States economy was booming. This was a period of
prosperity, when the country s economy was doing well and some of the people were sharing in it.
A long term cause of the American boom in the 1920Вґs was America s natural advantage and
regional diversity. The South was mainly used for farming but also had large amounts of oil. The
North of America and the East Coast were the richest parts of America because there was lots of
industry, business and many new factories were being built providing new jobs. This large area of ...

America was only able to do all these things as the country was rich and full of resources.
America did not suffer any damages in the war (apart from loss of military lives) whereas it s
business rivals such as Britain suffered hugely. There was a huge rise in production at this time.
There were many important short term causes as well as the obvious long term cause and
turning point that contributed to the boom. One short term reason for the boom was the policy
of the Republican Party. From 1920 to 1932 all the US presidents were Republican. Republicans
believed that the government should interfere as little as possible in the everyday lives of the
people. When the Republicans came to power they introduced tariffs, this made it expensive to
buy foreign goods. The tariffs protected US businesses from competition. The Republicans kept
taxation as low because of this everybody had more money and they would buy American goods
(because they were cheaper) or invest it in the American economy. The Republican attitude was to
interfere as little as possible in business and let people handle it the way they saw fit, the result of
this was a richer and happier America for about 60% of the people.
Another short term reason for the boom was the emergence of new industries in America.
Americans loved new products such as the automobile, by 1929 millions of people owned cars. A

Bandura ( 1977 ) Derived Self Efficacy As A Sub Theory...
Bandura (1977) derived Self efficacy as a sub theory stemming from Social cognitive theory.
This was defined by Bandura as Belief s in one s capabilities to organize and execute the courses
of action required to produce given attainments. The model of self efficacy was reinvented via
Bandura (1997) in order to incorporate elements that are individually specific that directly
influences a person s level of self efficacy. One of the most important factors to determining an
individual s self efficacy was that of mastery experience coupled with the person s perception of
those prior accomplishments. Imaginable experiences within more recent years has started to
appear more and more as another important factor to pre determining athlete s self efficacy.
Therefore this case study will look into both of these areas in terms of Tyson Fury s latest bout
against Wladimir Klitschko. Martin, and Hall (1995), showed individuals in the imagery conditions
spent significantly more time practicing the technique. McKenzie, and Howe (1997) also studied
the effects of imagery within a task of dart throwing, and concluded that imagery could aid the
performance in such a task. Interestingly though, individuals who had prior experience within the
area, elicited a belief in the performance enhancement of imagery. However, Cumming, and Hall
(2002) showed that athletes of different levels (National, Provincial, Recreational) show different

The Blade Artist Essay
Irvine Welsh s latest novel The Blade Artist (released this year) was a novel that caught my eye
while I was looking along the shelves of my local library. The Blade Artist is a crime and thriller
novel that keeps you guessing until the end. Frank Begbie s first son, Sean Begbie is found dead
in his hometown Leith and he makes it his mission to find the killer. He also encounters some old
friends and enemies from before he basically changed his whole identity which is now an artist
from Los Angeles with a family. Things that I liked in this novelwere the idea People aren t always
who they say they are and Frank Begbie as an interesting character.
Frank Begbie was an interesting character for me because he has lived two different lives over
his life and they feature two very different people with very different personalities. His
personality as Jim Francis is a very calm character who is happy with life as a sculptor whereas
Frank Begbie which is his original identity is obsessed with violence and loved to play tricks
which would harm people. Occasionally one character will appear while acting as or being the
other like when Jim was punching and kicking Santiago on the beach. The conversation between
the pair went like this. Santiago screams in pain Please don t hurt me anymore Jim! Please oh

1984 Nazi Regime Essay
1984 and the Nazi Regime George Orwell, in his dystopian novel 1984 written shortly after World
War II, creates an allusion between Nazi Germany s past and Oceania s future in regards to the
attitude and structure of the two societies. The novel is told by an omniscient narrator following
Winston, a man questioning his memory and the morality of Big Brother s government, which is
most effective for this novel. Thus, through Winston s internal dialogue, Orwell alludes to Nazi
Germanys past to predict Oceania s future in order to create a parallel between the structure and
attitudes of the two nations, which communicates his theme (and warns his readers) that certain
trends in government will lead to violation of individual rights, and therefore... Show more content

The society is divided into three classes: the proles (working class, comparable to early treatment
of the Jews), the outer party (educated members given administrative jobs, or Nazi soldiers), and
the inner party (those in power, Hitler and his cohorts). Both the inner and outer party looked
down on the proles and paid them no mind with the idea that the proletariats were inferior.
Additionally, members of the inner and outer parties shared the same characteristics as those in
power of the Nazi regime: tall muscular youths and deep bosomed maidens, blond haired, vital,
sunburnt, carefree (60). In addition to the similarities in structure, Oceania also destroyed all
books created before Big Brother gained power. Therefore, the structure of Oceania is a direct
parallel to Nazi Germany and conveys Orwell s message that an initial breach of individual
liberties will continue until all originality is destroyed. However, Oceania had slight variations
from its predecessor. One example of this is the absence of labor camps orchestrated to contain the
proles. Instead, the proles and the parties intermingled at the

The History of Nonprofit Organizations in America Essay
The nonprofit sector in America is a reflection some of the foundational values that brought our
nation into existence. Fundamentals, such as the idea that people can govern themselves and the
belief that people should have the opportunity to make a difference by joining a like minded group,
have made America and its nonprofit sector what it is today. The American civil society is one that
has been produced through generations of experiments with government policy, nonprofit
organizations, private partnerships, and individuals who have asserted ideas and values. The future
of the nonprofit sector will continue to be experimental in many ways. However, the increase of

57). Before the Great Depression of the thirties, the popular opinion was that the federal
government should not be heavily involved in providing social welfare. However, the
urbanization and industrialization of the early twentieth century, as well as the economic
pressure of the 1930s, proved to be more than what state and local governments or private
organizations could provide for. These pressures gave way for President Franklin D. Roosevelt to
lead America into the New Deal. This included the creation of the U.S. Social Security Program,
unemployment assistance, and needs tested assistance (Salamon 1999, p.58). Roosevelt s New
Deal still left limited coverage, limited funding, and left much of the delivery of social service to
state and local governments. Even with all the changes that have occurred in federal programs and
policy over the years, Salamon shows that combined state and local governments continued to
nearly match the amount of federal spending from 1950 through 1994 (p.59). This again reflects
the tension and nature of the American system, which was intended to lean on the strength of the
public to innovate and provide for itself. The debate over the amount of government involvement
in providing assistance for Americans is still a very important issue as it relates to the role of
nonprofit organizations in American society. In the mid 1960s more reforms were made in
response to increased poverty. Lyndon Johnson dreamed of a

Business Law Development Issues in Mongolia Mongolia is a developing country, which is
encountering challenges to develop modern business law. During the twentieth century, Mongolia
had been a socialist country and developed almost fifty years of non private property regime.
However, the end of the twentieth century, the country changed its regime to democratic and
resulted mass privatization of its state property. The government of the country distributed an
interest of the state property to its people and made more than half of Mongolian population as
shareholder. However, many of policy makers, lawyers, business people and general public
encountered considerable lack of understanding about a business law. Thus, it was necessary to
start and develop business related law in all fields. Nevertheless, due to lack of experts who
understand modern law on businesses, Mongolia has faced significant challenges to build its
business law and still been in a process of business initial stage of business law development. For
Mongolia, it has been strenuous process in transition from centrally planned economy to market

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Tribals
ii.Problems of assimilation with the non tribal People: The indigenous people of the Dooars were
the Koch Rajbanshis, the Mech, the Rabhas and the Lepchas. They were well dependent on their
traditional village economy of agriculture, hunting, fishing, and forest based economy. After the
introduction of tea plantation in Dooars, the planters encouraged the immigration of the Nepalese,
and then the tea planters decided to bring labourers from the Santal Parganas and Chhotonagpur
plateau. In the second part of nineteenth century, a large number of tribal people mainly of Oraons,
Santals, Mundas and Malpaharis in migrated to the Dooars. Again after the partition of the country
in 1947, and emergence of Bangladesh in 1971, streams of immigration or infiltration from East
Pakistan and Bangladesh occurred in the areas. The immigrated Bangladeshi people occupied a
vast areas in almost everywhere. Thus the Dooars grew into a new hub of multi racial and multi
lingual people, and of course, this led the demographic and cultural environment to be too complex
for the future.
iii.Loss of Control over Natural Resources: Before coming of the British, the tribals enjoyed

Question1
The achievement motive emphasized the notion that links the personality traits and social
background check of a person with his or her level of need for achievement. David McClelland
stressed that the need for achievement is an apparent human motive that can be distinguished from
other needs. He believed that the achievement motivated people, do not turn down rewards but the
rewards are not important as the accomplishment itself (Bernstein, 2006).
Motivation is based on the individual s emotions and the achievement related goals. The
achievement motivation is aimed at attaining success and achieving all of our ambitions in life. As
a result of this the achievement goals can influence our natural behaviour (Rochester Institute,
2005).
Situational factors also affect achievement behaviour. The search for achievement is likely to
increase when the possibility of success and the incentive value of success are high (Rochester
Institute, 2005). This can be attributed to the following reasons:
a)As duties get easier, success becomes more fulfilling and as tasks get harder success becomes
less fulfilling.
b)Reasonably challenging tasks seem to offer the best overall worth in terms of maximizing the
person s sense of accomplishment.
c)People differing in their desires to avoid failure, emphasizes that emotion and motivation are

Meaning Of Sacrament
The word sacrament comes from Latin word Sacramentum the Greek word mysterion is equivalent
to Sacramentum and it is used by Paul in Ephesians when he is speaking about marriage. This is a
great foreshadowing Mysterion; I mean that it refers to Christ and the church. In later usage, the
term Sacramentum emphasizes the visible sign of the hidden reality of salvation which was
indicated by the term Mysterium. In this case, Christ himself is the mystery of salvation For there
is no other mystery of God, except Christ Jesus. The synonymous of the word Sacramentum in the
Bible is Mysterion, Orthodox Church uses the word mystery to mean sacrament.

three things may be considered, the very cause of our sanctification, which is Christ s passion.
The form of our sanctification, which are grace and the virtues, and the ultimate end of our
sanctification, which is eternal life. And all these are signified by the sacraments. Consequently,
a sacrament is a sign that is both a reminder of the past that is the passion of Christ and an
indication of that which is effected in us by Christ s passion. That is grace and a prognostic that
is a foretelling of future. St Augustine has a different way of explaining the sacraments, for him
the sacraments are visible words and relationship with Christ and the Church when He identifies
them as visible words to be received in faith. Sacraments are visible signs of invisible reality.

B) Stem cells. A relative of a friend of yours had a spinal cord injury after a bad car accident. The
medical team has decided that this patient is a good candidate for a clinical trial using stem cell
therapy. Your friend has not had a biology course since high school, so you are going to write for
him or her a two page discussion of stem cellinformation. In your discussion, include a description
of the biology of stem cells, and explain how these cells are unique in their ability to treat diseases
and injury. The following website from NIH regarding stem cell research will be very helpful: http:/

Many wonder why the spinal cord is not able to heal itself like the other parts of the body such
as how the skin injured on a leg can regenerate and heal itself or how muscle can repairs itself is
it gets strained. But the spinal cord is different. That is because some of the cells in the central
nervous system are so complex and specialized that they do not have the ability to regenerate.
In come a stem cell which is an immature cell that can become a different cell, or even transform
into one of many different cells. Most stem cells can also renew or divide themselves
indefinitely. These two characteristics are what present a new pathway to repairing damage to
the human body caused by trauma, degeneration and disease. Stem cells keep on generating in
the body and take place of the cells which have died such as in a spinal cord injury. The process of
using stem cells for spinal cord injury is controversial for some and involves taking one s own
bone marrow or a donated human umbilical cord. A licensed anesthesiologist harvests bone marrow
from both hips under light general anesthesia in a hospital operating room, the procedure takes
about one and half to two hours. The bone marrow derived stem cells have to pass rigorous testing
for quality and to ensure there is not bacterial contamination before they are administered to the
patient. In the same fashion

Education of the Black Male in America Essay
Today s education is often viewed as failing in its goal of educating students, especially those
students characterized as minorities, including African American, Hispanic, and Appalachian
students (Quiroz, 1999). Among the minority groups mentioned, African American males are
affected most adversely. Research has shown that when Black malestudents are compared to other
students by gender and race they consistently rank lowest in academic achievement (Ogbu, 2003),
have the worst attendance record (Voelkle, 1999), are suspended and expelled the most often
(Raffaele Mendez, 2003; Staples, 1982), are most likely to drop out of school, and most often fail to
graduate from high school or to earn a GED (Pinkney, 2000; Roderick, 2003).... Show more content

There is no single overriding factor to explain this lack of success, but most scholars and researchers
point out that beginning in the colonial era and continuing through most of our nation s history, the
experiences of Black males in White society have been so negative and psychologically damaging
(Pinkney, 2000; Staples, 1982) that they have given birth to and nurtured a deep seated and
tenacious belief in their own, and the entire Black community s, inferiority. At the beginning of this
history, Black male slaves were looked upon by White society as the most undesirable and least
trust worthy of people, and they were treated accordingly. Black male slaves were closely
associated with and compared to animals, and were said to have a deceptive and violent nature and
to be uncontrollable and in need of the whip (Kunjufu, 1986). Given this formative experience in
slavery, the fact that Black males have continued to be disadvantaged from birth to death throughout
our nation s short history hardly seems to need explanation.
A Broader Problem that plagues Black males are not totally the responsibility of the public
schools, but are a responsibility of society as a whole (Delpit, 1995). We can say, however, that
the public schools do play a major role in addressing the problems of Black male students. The
educational experiences and the support services afforded Black male students could play an

To Sir John Lade On His Coming Of Age
Welcome to the grown up world of legal age. Experience life at its best with all your own bills,
problems and worries. Happy Birthday. ~Unknown Author This quote, briefly summarizing a
new outlook one can potentially take on life after turning 21, focuses on experiencing life at its
best , yet in the midst of being plagued by a number of new responsibilities such as bills and
other problems. The terse (PSAT Vocab) Happy Birthday at the end serves as a smart aleck
method of introducing a new 21 year old into a true adult role, one with more responsibilities and
worries than have been dealt with before. Just like this quote, the poems To Sir John Lade, on His
Coming of Age by Samuel Johnson, and When I Was One and Twenty by A.E. Housman,
embody messages of advisory to new 21 year olds, embodying the new possibilities and freedoms,
yet also detailing some cautions to take along with new found responsibilities. Both of these works
give counsel and warning about joys and responsibilities of turning 21, however, Johnson s
rendition mainly portrays the joys and excitement of a gained freedom, while Housman stresses the
importance of avoiding foolish mistakes such as carelessly falling in love.
Both of these poems serve to enlighten a new 21 year old on how he should live his life,
including similar messages of advice and warning. The narrators in each of these works speak of a
proverbially care free and affluent lifestyle, encouraging his respective

Chinua Achebe s novel Things Fall Apart chronicles the life of Okonkwo, a strong man whose
existence is dominated by fear and anger, and the Ibo tribe, a people deeply rooted in cultural
belief and tradition. As events unfold, Okonkwo s carefully constructed world and the Ibo way
of life collapses. The story of Okonkwo s fall from a respected and feared leader of the Ibo tribe
to an outcast who dies in disgrace dramatizes his inability to evolve beyond his personal beliefs,

fifteen year old boy and a virgin to Umuofia as retribution for the killing, and it is decided the
boy, Ikemefuna, will stay with Okonkwo until the elders decide his fate. Ikemefuna s stay in
Okonkwo s home was supposed to be a temporary arrangement until the clan decided what was to
be done with him but he ended up living as a member of the family for three years (Akwani,
2011, para. 11). Okonkwo places Ikemefuna in the home of his most senior wife, who is also the
mother of Okonkwo s oldest son, Nwoye. Ikemefuna is very well liked by Okonkwo and his
family, and becomes a mentor and best friend to Nwoye. Okonkwo feels dismay that Nwoye is
taking on the torpid characteristics of his grandfather, Unoka, and is quite pleased that Nwoye is
thriving and maturing under Ikemefuna s guidance. Okonkwo was inwardly pleased at his son s
development, and he knew it was due to Ikemefuna (Achebe, 1958, p. 52, para. 2). Okonkwo s
pride, and fear of demonstrating any perceived sign of weakness, does not allow him to show any
favorable emotion to Ikemefuna; he treats him with the same severity he does the rest of his family.

What is Gnosticism?
According to Bentley (1987): Gnosis derives from Greek, and connotes knowledge or the act of
Knowing . (On first hearing, it is sometimes confused with another more Common term of the same

The tragic love story written by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, is an example of teenage rebellion because there are two teenagers, each respectively had their own side, that fell in love with each other and crave to be together. • 3. Aortic Regurgitation Essay AORTIC REGURGITATION Aortic regurgitation(AR) refers to the failure of incompetent aortic valve to prevent the flow of blood from aorta back to the left ventricle. HEMODYNAMICS: The backward leak of blood from the aorta to left ventricle during diastole increases left ventricular volume. The left ventricle accommodates extra volume of blood by increasing ventricular size. This regurgitation leads to impaired forward systemic blood flow reducing cardiac output. Left ventricle increases ejection during early part of systole to compensate this. In increased regurgitation, left ventricular pressure increases, which may leads to increased left atrial pressure and pulmonary congestion. CLINICAL FEATURES: Asymptomatic in mild form. Palpitation, dyspnea on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... High pitched decrescendo diastolic murmur. AORTIC STENOSIS: Aortic stenosis results due to narrowing of aortic valve or adjacent part of aorta. This leads to a development of pressure gradient between left ventricle and aorta increasing the left ventricular pressure and hypertrophy. It is very rare in children. • 4. Wilfred Owen Poetry Analysis Wilfred Owen s experiences are reflected in his poetry, depicting the carnage and destruction of war. He portrays his perspective about human conflicts in his poetry and effectively conveys the truth about the agony of warfare in his war poems Anthem for Doomed Youth and Futility . To portray his attitudes towards war, Owen uses a diverse range of poetic devices to shock and emotionally stir his readers into the reality of human conflict. With many of Owen s poems being semi autobiographical recounts of his experience of war, Owen s viewpoint on war is tremendously clear. Many countries viewed World War I as an easy war to win, and one that would be over relatively quickly. It was also heralded as a huge patriotic honour to your country to become involved. Many young boys got swept up in the promise of honour and joined, Owen, only 22 at the time, was one of them. He, like every other young soldier wanted to uphold the honour of his country, but after only a few short weeks, Owen s perspective shifted dramatically. A love of poetryfrom a young age prompted him to continue writing while hospitalised for Shellshock with the encouragement of Siegfried Sassoon, and soon the poetry he wrote showed the general public what it was like on the front line and the graphic reality of human suffering on the battlefield. In particular was his distaste for the main point of war the extreme loss of human life, as Owen described it dying as cattle . All of Owen s poems had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Individuality In Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead Ayn Rand wrote The Fountainhead which revolved around the protagonist; Roark s struggle to maintain his individuality. The realization of the novel is altruism, value, and individualism which guides humans to egotistic decisions. Roark breaking the law created the explosion of the ethics and moral of the novel. He doesn t break the law by demolishing the Cortland Homes, but instead he crushed the mass opinion of the false virtuousness of altruism and collectivism. Roark s ego throughout the novels stands firm against public opinion. Roark being a person who believes in individualism, designs modernized buildings. Even though he was offered many jobs to design traditional buildings, he declines them. His defining moral characteristics are his individualism and integrity. This shows how passionate he is about his work and that he will not compromise his creativity in order to accomplish his personal goals. He had not even desired monetary or any other form of payment, other than seeing it built, for his creation: I agreed to design Cortland for the purpose of seeing it erected as I designed it and for no other reason. • 12. The Mexican American War By Daniel Timi Union County College Mexican War Daniel Timi His. 201 United States History to 1865 Professor Margiotta The Mexican American War began on April 25, 1846. This placed the first U.S. armed conflict chiefly fought on foreign soil. It marked politically dividend and militarily unprepared Mexico against its expansionists minded administration of U.S. President James K. Polk. Polk strongly believed the United States had an evident future to go across the continent in the Pacific Ocean. The border encountered along the Rio Grande, which began with a fight, followed by a series of numerous victories the United States. When the dust cleared, Mexico had lost roughly one third of its region. The regions included all the states such as Arizona, New Mexico, California, and Utah. At the end of the U.S. Mexican War, historians have divided into their explanations. Some historians hold United States accountable while others put the blame on Mexico. I love to float and feel weightless for a few minutes, with no gravity to pull me down. That day I watched the news early Saturday morning, quite unusual since I rarely watch TV to begin with, but I caught the weather warnings and beach warnings that were said to be in the high 80 s with stronger than usual rip currents. I bought a new swim suit, it was a black Rockabilly style halter top one piece and was I determined to wear it. I decided to ignore the warnings I had heard that morning and got in those waters. It was nothing I hadn t felt before; I have been in those same waters over a hundred times at least. Floating like wild sea weed I let myself get dragged in towards the current pulling in. If pennies made before and after 1982 have different densities, they are most likely made out of different metals. The independent variable is the year the pennies were made. The dependent variables are the density, volume and mass of the pennies. The controlled variables are the number of pennies, the instruments used for measurement and the environment in which the pennies are measured. They were each armed with a pile of books that threatened to topple onto the well worn paved parking lot of the school. They turned out of the campus and began walking down the sidewalk towards home. The air was chilly and the leaves were beginning to shed their emerald green gowns for scarlet, gold, and, fiery orange. The boys were in good spirits and they walked briskly down the walkway. Before long, the houses had started to get bigger and farther apart. Oh, no, one of the boys groaned as he stopped in his tracks. What is it, Jeremy? the second boy asked. It s the Haunted Mansion, Dave, the boy named Jeremy whispered nervously. A few houses from where they stood was the house that many people called The Haunted Mansion . They knew that it wasn t really haunted, but it was hard to tell when you looked at it. The old fashioned brick house seemed ready to topple over at any moment. The large yard was overrun with weeds. The windows and doors were boarded over and the beat up front door was half hidden by weeds. I almost forgot about this place, Dave said as he walked closer to the gloomy house. Dave, where are you going! Jeremy exclaimed as he sprinted to catch up with his friend. Dave had stopped right in front of the house and stared at the unwelcoming windows. • 16. Mass Starvation During the Great Irish Famine In Ireland, the Great Irish Famine was a time period of mass starvation, disease and emigration that was historically dated from 1845 to 1851. This tragedy left a permanent impact in history to Ireland. I believe that the Irish should be appreciative that British North America is willing to assist them through this rough time period because of the poor circumstances back in their home country, they provided them a place to live a better life, and the people in British North Americawere accepting and allowing the Irish to continue to practice their culture. In this period of time, citizens of Irelandsuffered in countless ways. A disease so called Blight is a disease on crops that caused a catastrophic effect on the Irish since the Irish significantly depended on potatoes. Potatoes provided a non expensive and healthy diet for many of the folks, in fact, for two thirds of the entire population of Ireland; potatoes were an essential to their nourishment. In the summer of 1845, residents shortly noticed that after the potatoes were dug out; they were decayed, forming a slimy texture and blackish color. Experts at first suggested that the cause was because of the smokes that arose from nearby railroad trains or fumes that rose from underground volcanos. In spite of that, the actual source of this unusual sighting was because of an airborne fungus that had travelled from Mexico to Ireland. Blight had caused the Irish s blessed potatoes, to rot underground causing a shortage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 17. The Amityville Horror by Jay Anson Essay example Most people are very convinced that they have memories of past experiences because of the event itself or the bigger picture of the experience. According to Ulric Neisser, memories focus on the fact that the events outlined at one level of analysis may be components of other, larger events (Rubin 1). For instance, one will only remember receiving the letter of admission as their memory of being accepted into the University of Virginia. However, people do not realize that it is actually the small details that make up their memories. What make up the memory of being accepted into the University of Virginia are the hours spent on writing essays, the anxiety faced due to fear of not making into the university and the happiness upon hearing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the section in the story about Father Mancuso not feeling well on page 73 is irrelevant in helping the flow of the story. The whole point of this section of the story is to explain the routine, in which George goes to bed and wakes up again at 3:15 in the morning. As a result of that, the three paragraphs about Father Mancuso within this section seem out of place and pointless since it is not what the author is trying to explain. Also, when Anson explains how Kathy washed out her percolator, filled it and plugged it in (34), these details are unnecessary because ultimately, this scene is about how Kathy sensed someone was staring at her (34) and is scared half to death (34) by Missy s presence. Everybody has memories. In the article, Remembrance of All Things Past , neuroscientists found that people can remember the details from 20 years ago almost as well as the details from yesterday (McGaugh and LePort 1). This proves that everybody can remember something about the events that they have experienced. In the story, when Father Mancuso s friends ask him Don t you remember the DeFeos, Frank? (21), it shows that his friends not only expected Father Mancuso to remember the incident but they themselves can recall the case. Father Mancuso has memories as well when he remembers he had an urge, bordering on obsession, to call the Lutzes and warn them to stay out of the room at all cost (56). When Kathy is checking on ... • 18. Descartes s Dualism Argument The theory of dualism states that the human body comprises of the mental and the physical components, which are separate substances with independent existence. Physical things are objects which occupy space, and we use our senses to perceive, such as bones and flesh. Mental things are abstract, existing only in thought and do not have extension in the physical world. In this paper, I will be discussing Descartes s substantial dualismargument and refute his position by pointing out the inconsistency in his examples and give evidence that the brain and mindare one. Here is how the Substance dualism is stated in the paper, (1) If we can exist without bodies, then we cannot be bodies. (2) We can exist without bodies. (3) Therefore, we cannot be bodies. Premise 1 In the first premise, he argues that if the mind and body are one then the body cannot exist without the mind and vice versa. On the contrary, if the mind and body are separate, as substance dualists claim, then one can exist without the other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And this assumption raises issues if the person is not a believer of soul immortality. There is also overwhelming evidence from medical data which shows the connection between the brain and the mind. The removal of brain parts results in reduced mental cognition. • 19. Book Review on Blood Red Snow Blood Red Snow, by Gunter K. Koschorrek is a graphic rendition of the German War in the Eastern front, which began in 1942. Koschorrek is a former German soldier who kept a frequent account of his experience in the steppes of Russia and the advancement of the German battalion in Stalingrad. Written as a memoir, Koschorrek s writing serves as a first hand account of the tank and cavalry warfare in the Eastern front. Rather than glorifying the heroic aspects of death and destruction in war, Koschorrek s strives to give a realistic account of the bitter struggle and retreat of the German army during World War II. His documentation of his experiences in Blood Red Snow serves as a tribute to the survivors as well as the fallen soldiers of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The production focuses on the period before and during Koschorrek s station in Stalingrad and places Hitler s decision for a two front war in a historical context. The documentary covers the massive success of Operation Barbarossa , Hitler s artillery barrage strategy in 1941 up until the retreat of the German army in 1943. Hitler Turns East tells the audience how the German army ultimately failed despite its initial success. Although the German army quickly and powerfully dissolved Soviet defenses, the Red Army bought the German troops to a standstill. These aspects of the documentary are clearly accounted by Koschorrek in far more, firsthand detail in his memoir. The Soviet Army continually drives the German troops from their positions and this is specifically shown in Koschorrek s entry of November 20th and December 13th 1942. Stationed along the Don, a river running along Stalingrad, Koschorrek records the Russians have also broken through, Romanian lines in the south, and are coming at us from both sides, trying to take us in a pincer movement . The documentary specifically remarks on the pincer strategy of the Soviet troops, a method that attempts to encircle and surround troops but cutting off defense lines at both sides. The documentary also remarks on the involvement of Romanian troops while Koschorreck goes into more detail of their social behavior (as soldiers) rather than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lobbying and United States LOBBYING Introduction Any association of individuals or organizations, usually formally organized on the basis of one or more shared concerns, attempts to influence public policy in its favour. All interest groups share a desire to affect opinion or policy of the policy makers or target group to benefit themselves or their causes. Their goal could be a policy that exclusively benefits group members. They attempt to achieve their goals by lobbying that is, by attempting to bring pressure to bear on policy makers to gain policy outcomes in their favour. At the national level, government agencies, such as the British Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, lobby on their own behalf to secure funding or to prioritize certain issues; at the regional level, public universities lobby the appropriate government (e.g., provincial governments in Canada and state governments in the United States) for funding or legislation that benefits them; at the local level, school boards may lobby the local government for money for a new school gymnasium or for more funding for educational programs. At the international level, the United Nations may lobby its members to pay their outstanding contributions to the organization or to carry out Security Council resolutions. Although formally organized associations play a predominant role in traditional lobbying efforts, non associational groups and interests often have an important influence. Such interests lack a formal organization or permanent structure. They include spontaneous protest movements formed in reaction to a particular policy or event and informal groups of citizens and officials of public or private organizations. For example, French farmers have sometimes held up traffic in Paris to protest government agricultural policy. The role of interest groups in public policy making: pluralist ... One of them actually being World War I. John McCrae and Wilfred Owens were both soldiers in that particular war. One could only imagine all that these men had experienced and gone through during those times. To help one better envision and understand what they went through, they both had actually written poems about their times in the military during World War I. One would think that since both these gentlemen had been in the same war, they would experience the same things and write about the same as well. And yes, both of their writings and poems have similarities in style. However, their exposure to the war and violence made their poems very different in many ways. Both of their techniques, mood, and tone throughout their writings contrasts vastly. Both McCrae and Owen were soldiers in World War I. With this similarity within their lives, it would be assumed that their poems and writings would be a little similar as well. That statement could not be more wrong. In McCrae s poem In Flanders Fields , he uses such wording that makes his words flow and sound quite elegant. Though sounding very graceful and sophisticated especially considering the grim topic he is writing about he is not as detailed of a writer when compared to Owen. In Owen s poem Dulce et Decorum Est , his wording is quite horrid and gruesome. McCrae s poem is vastly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the 1920Вґs the United States economy was booming. This was a period of prosperity, when the country s economy was doing well and some of the people were sharing in it. A long term cause of the American boom in the 1920Вґs was America s natural advantage and regional diversity. The South was mainly used for farming but also had large amounts of oil. The North of America and the East Coast were the richest parts of America because there was lots of industry, business and many new factories were being built providing new jobs. America did not suffer any damages in the war (apart from loss of military lives) whereas it s business rivals such as Britain suffered hugely. There was a huge rise in production at this time. There were many important short term causes as well as the obvious long term cause and turning point that contributed to the boom. One short term reason for the boom was the policy of the Republican Party. From 1920 to 1932 all the US presidents were Republican. Republicans believed that the government should interfere as little as possible in the everyday lives of the people. When the Republicans came to power they introduced tariffs, this made it expensive to buy foreign goods. The tariffs protected US businesses from competition. The Republicans kept taxation as low because of this everybody had more money and they would buy American goods (because they were cheaper) or invest it in the American economy. The Republican attitude was to interfere as little as possible in business and let people handle it the way they saw fit, the result of this was a richer and happier America for about 60% of the people. Another short term reason for the boom was the emergence of new industries in America. Americans loved new products such as the automobile, by 1929 millions of people owned cars. A ... This was defined by Bandura as Belief s in one s capabilities to organize and execute the courses of action required to produce given attainments. The model of self efficacy was reinvented via Bandura (1997) in order to incorporate elements that are individually specific that directly influences a person s level of self efficacy. One of the most important factors to determining an individual s self efficacy was that of mastery experience coupled with the person s perception of those prior accomplishments. Imaginable experiences within more recent years has started to appear more and more as another important factor to pre determining athlete s self efficacy. Therefore this case study will look into both of these areas in terms of Tyson Fury s latest bout against Wladimir Klitschko. Martin, and Hall (1995), showed individuals in the imagery conditions spent significantly more time practicing the technique. McKenzie, and Howe (1997) also studied the effects of imagery within a task of dart throwing, and concluded that imagery could aid the performance in such a task. Interestingly though, individuals who had prior experience within the area, elicited a belief in the performance enhancement of imagery. However, Cumming, and Hall (2002) showed that athletes of different levels (National, Provincial, Recreational) show different belief s on imagery suggesting an engagement with the ... The novel is told by an omniscient narrator following Winston, a man questioning his memory and the morality of Big Brother s government, which is most effective for this novel. Thus, through Winston s internal dialogue, Orwell alludes to Nazi Germanys past to predict Oceania s future in order to create a parallel between the structure and attitudes of the two nations, which communicates his theme (and warns his readers) that certain trends in government will lead to violation of individual rights, and therefore... The society is divided into three classes: the proles (working class, comparable to early treatment of the Jews), the outer party (educated members given administrative jobs, or Nazi soldiers), and the inner party (those in power, Hitler and his cohorts). Additionally, members of the inner and outer parties shared the same characteristics as those in power of the Nazi regime: tall muscular youths and deep bosomed maidens, blond haired, vital, sunburnt, carefree (60). In addition to the similarities in structure, Oceania also destroyed all books created before Big Brother gained power. Therefore, the structure of Oceania is a direct parallel to Nazi Germany and conveys Orwell s message that an initial breach of individual liberties will continue until all originality is destroyed. Before the Great Depression of the thirties, the popular opinion was that the federal government should not be heavily involved in providing social welfare. However, the urbanization and industrialization of the early twentieth century, as well as the economic pressure of the 1930s, proved to be more than what state and local governments or private organizations could provide for. These pressures gave way for President Franklin D. Roosevelt to lead America into the New Deal. This included the creation of the U.S. Social Security Program, unemployment assistance, and needs tested assistance (Salamon 1999, p.58). Roosevelt s New Deal still left limited coverage, limited funding, and left much of the delivery of social service to state and local governments. Even with all the changes that have occurred in federal programs and policy over the years, Salamon shows that combined state and local governments continued to nearly match the amount of federal spending from 1950 through 1994 (p.59). This again reflects the tension and nature of the American system, which was intended to lean on the strength of the public to innovate and provide for itself. The debate over the amount of government involvement in providing assistance for Americans is still a very important issue as it relates to the role of nonprofit organizations in American society. Meaning Of Sacrament The word sacrament comes from Latin word Sacramentum the Greek word mysterion is equivalent to Sacramentum and it is used by Paul in Ephesians when he is speaking about marriage. In later usage, the term Sacramentum emphasizes the visible sign of the hidden reality of salvation which was indicated by the term Mysterium. In this case, Christ himself is the mystery of salvation For there is no other mystery of God, except Christ Jesus. She appeared in front of people in a humanly way to reveal the orders of Zeus or of any god to them. Iris was not only the goddess of the rainbows but she was also a messenger, the gods messenger. Iris also had another duty, she carried the water from the Styx River every time the gods had to take a solemn oath. Her duty might seem like an easy duty, but it was actually very important one. Iris had a couple of strengths one of them being faithful to her husband, Hera, and to the Olympians as well. She also had a couple of weaknesses such as her defined role in life. The medical team has decided that this patient is a good candidate for a clinical trial using stem cell therapy. Your friend has not had a biology course since high school, so you are going to write for him or her a two page discussion of stem cellinformation. In your discussion, include a description of the biology of stem cells, and explain how these cells are unique in their ability to treat diseases and injury. The following website from NIH regarding stem cell research will be very helpful: http:/ /stemcells.nih.gov/index.asp. Many wonder why the spinal cord is not able to heal itself like the other parts of the body such as how the skin injured on a leg can regenerate and heal itself or how muscle can repairs itself is it gets strained. But the spinal cord is different. That is because some of the cells in the central nervous system are so complex and specialized that they do not have the ability to regenerate. In come a stem cell which is an immature cell that can become a different cell, or even transform into one of many different cells. Most stem cells can also renew or divide themselves indefinitely. These two characteristics are what present a new pathway to repairing damage to the human body caused by trauma, degeneration and disease. Stem cells keep on generating in the body and take place of the cells which have died such as in a spinal cord injury. The process of using stem cells for spinal cord injury is controversial for some and involves taking one s own bone marrow or a donated human umbilical cord. A licensed anesthesiologist harvests bone marrow from both hips under light general anesthesia in a hospital operating room, the procedure takes about one and half to two hours. The bone marrow derived stem cells have to pass rigorous testing for quality and to ensure there is not bacterial contamination before they are administered to the patient. In the same fashion ... Yes, this sample average is unusually high, as the Standard Error for the Average is only .2, which means the margin of error is .4. • 46. Education of the Black Male in America Essay Today s education is often viewed as failing in its goal of educating students, especially those students characterized as minorities, including African American, Hispanic, and Appalachian students (Quiroz, 1999). Among the minority groups mentioned, African American males are affected most adversely. Research has shown that when Black malestudents are compared to other students by gender and race they consistently rank lowest in academic achievement (Ogbu, 2003), have the worst attendance record (Voelkle, 1999), are suspended and expelled the most often (Raffaele Mendez, 2003; Staples, 1982), are most likely to drop out of school, and most often fail to graduate from high school or to earn a GED (Pinkney, 2000; Roderick, 2003).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no single overriding factor to explain this lack of success, but most scholars and researchers point out that beginning in the colonial era and continuing through most of our nation s history, the experiences of Black males in White society have been so negative and psychologically damaging (Pinkney, 2000; Staples, 1982) that they have given birth to and nurtured a deep seated and tenacious belief in their own, and the entire Black community s, inferiority. At the beginning of this history, Black male slaves were looked upon by White society as the most undesirable and least trust worthy of people, and they were treated accordingly. Black male slaves were closely associated with and compared to animals, and were said to have a deceptive and violent nature and to be uncontrollable and in need of the whip (Kunjufu, 1986). Given this formative experience in slavery, the fact that Black males have continued to be disadvantaged from birth to death throughout our nation s short history hardly seems to need explanation. A Broader Problem that plagues Black males are not totally the responsibility of the public schools, but are a responsibility of society as a whole (Delpit, 1995). We can say, however, that the public schools do play a major role in addressing the problems of Black male students. The educational experiences and the support services afforded Black male students could play an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Happy Birthday. ~Unknown Author This quote, briefly summarizing a new outlook one can potentially take on life after turning 21, focuses on experiencing life at its best , yet in the midst of being plagued by a number of new responsibilities such as bills and other problems. The terse (PSAT Vocab) Happy Birthday at the end serves as a smart aleck method of introducing a new 21 year old into a true adult role, one with more responsibilities and worries than have been dealt with before. Housman, embody messages of advisory to new 21 year olds, embodying the new possibilities and freedoms, yet also detailing some cautions to take along with new found responsibilities. Both of these works give counsel and warning about joys and responsibilities of turning 21, however, Johnson s rendition mainly portrays the joys and excitement of a gained freedom, while Housman stresses the importance of avoiding foolish mistakes such as carelessly falling in love. Ikemefuna s stay in Okonkwo s home was supposed to be a temporary arrangement until the clan decided what was to be done with him but he ended up living as a member of the family for three years (Akwani, 2011, para. 11).
