Greed In Julius Caesar Research Paper
Greed is an intense desire for wealth or power which plays a pivotal role in human nature and in
personal life. Furthermore, greed plays an influential role in our government as well as in
modern day conflict. For instance, nations have greedily gone to war to protect important
commodities and politicians make legislative decisions in their own self interest. Centuries ago,
greed played an equally important role in politics and conflict. In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, set
in 44 BC, greed plays an integral role in the main conflict of the play. In both Shakespeare s Julius
Caesar and Thurber s The Tiger Who Would Be King , a power struggle emerges as a result of a
specific character s greed or ambition for glory. The power struggle in The... Show more content on

In The Tiger Who Would Be King , the tiger quickly reveals his ambition for glory by
proclaiming that when the moon rises, it will be a yellow moon with black stripes, in my honor
(Thurber 1). Thus, one of the tiger s motives for overthrowing the lion is to gain glory and honor
amongst the other creatures. In Julius Caesar, Brutus s motive for joining the conspirators and
assassinating Caesar seems clear. Brutus explains If then that friend demand why Brutus rose
against Caesar, this is my answer not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more (III, ii,
21 24). Consequently, Brutus establishes that his true motive for killing Caesar was the
wellbeing of Rome. Throughout the entire play, other characters perceive Brutus as a noble
man. However, he is the tragic hero of Julius Caesar and several of his tragic flaws come to light
throughout the play. For instance, Brutus demonstrates that he is arrogant and egotistical when
he tells Cassius he is not afraid of his threats because he is armed (III, iii, 69 77). Brutus is fully
aware of his portrayal as a nobleman and thinks very highly of himself. Hence, Brutus s reason
for joining the conspirators may have been to cling onto his title as a nobleman while gaining
the glory and support of Rome s citizens. Moreover, Brutus chooses to join the conspirators upon
receiving fake letters from citizens urging him to lead Rome (I, ii, 327 334). Undoubtedly,
Brutus is not greedy or interested in acquiring power. Brutus only wanted to assassinate Caesar to
save Rome from the potential negative effects which Caesar could cause during his rule. Yet,
Brutus has an underlying motive to gain honor and glory because he knows killing Caesar to save
Rome and please the citizens will allow him to appear heroic and honorable. Hence, Brutus
illustrates how a desire for glory can

Depravity In Catcher In The Rye
In this novel, the author creates Holden Caulfield, a boy that is the world s punching bag , and
illustrates his difficult life through presenting his failures clearly to the reader. Salinger shows
that Holden has had a deprived childhood by explaining to the reader that Holden s beloved
brother Allie died at a young age. Holden still has not gotten over this unfathomable loss. Another
way the author shows Holden s depravity is by making the parents look as if they are not part of
his life. Holden does not have a good relationship with his parents and this is presented very clearly
in the novel. This novel is predominantly about showing Holden s attempts at achieving his goals
in life only to fall flat on his face to fail. A first time reader of The Catcher in the Rye might not
know what to think after reading the novel. It is not the typical novel. The Catcher in the Rye, a...

Jane Gallagher was an old friend of Holden s, and he mentions her many times during the story.
He mentions that he will call her, but he never gets the nerve to. She is an important part of his
past that he misses a lot, and he wants to go back and be with her again. The Museum of Natural
History represents a different aspect of his past. While Jane Gallagher makes Holden want to
return to his past, the Museum of Natural History sort of changes his mind. He remembers how
he used to go there all the time, and how he was different, but the wax figures were always the
same. He realizes that he can t go back in time, because he is not the same as he used to be. He
also realizes that he will never be the same as he used to be. J.D. Salinger s use of symbolism in
The Catcher in the Rye is very helpful in conveying hidden messages. He uses different symbols to
use these messages, such as Jane, the Museum and the ducks. They all represent Holden, showing
the way he thinks and

Roles Of Women In The Great Gatsby
Women in the Jazz Age Interpreted by Fitzgerald
Class143 14090311 Crystal Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was an American novelist and short
story writer, whose works are paradigmatic writings of the Jazz Age, a period in the 1920s,
ending with the Great Depression. As Fitzgerald said, It was an age of miracles, it was an age of
art, it was an age of excess, and it was an age of satire. The First World War just ended. The
traditional moral code obeyed by Puritans, which calls for thrift and simplicity, has fallen apart. At
the same time, hedonism started prevailing in the whole country. Fitzgerald is also one of these
people who indulged in gay life and debauchery with his wife. So he has his unique interpretation of

Eventually, the business moved to the port town of Chesterton, Maryland, which gave them access

the plant in a public auction. 1890, Charles started another fertilizer business in Baltimore,
Maryland naming the new company C.W. Kennard Company and locating it at 220 South Charles

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou contains a plethora of life lessons Maya
learned while growing up, some of which that can pertain to my own life. On page 275, Maya
states, I knew her well enough to know that if I committed almost any crime and told her the truth
about it she not only wouldn t disown me but would give me her protection. This quote is relating
to Maya s mother, who values honesty and considers it to be a desirable quality to have. My own

When I was in the 7th grade, all students were required to take a Data Processing class, which
essentially just teaches you how to type on the computer at a proficient level. In the first few
months of school, your body s immune system is trying to get used to being surrounded by
germs and illnesses and sometimes responds by making you sick, so I had a cold. I had Data
Processing at the end of the day, and was really not feeling well. It was always a rule in the
classroom not to use your phone, but I was ill and my mom had asked my if I would like it if she
would pick me up from school. Of course that was way better than riding the bus, so I tried to
discretely respond that yes, I would like her to pick me up from school. It was in that moment
when the English Language Learner Aid (ELLA) caught me texting my mother and told the
head teacher. The ELLA and the teacher talked back and forth about what they should do about
my phone usage in front of the whole class! I was mortified, especially when the ELLA made the
comment, Wow! Caught using your phone so early in the year? I m sure my face was as red as
a tomato. Of course, I didn t know what to expect when I said that the only person I was texting
was my mother, but it definitely wasn t the response I got from the ELLA. She said, That s what
everyone says when they get caught texting. The women obviously didn t know my character,
but I relented. I don t really ever get in trouble, and I usually try and commit myself to pleasing
teachers, so I didn t know how to go about this embarrassment nonchalantly. Eventually, between
the two teachers, and in front of the entire class, they decided that I would not have my phone
taken away, and would just be let off with a warning. My mother did pick me up from school, and
as soon as I reached the car, I started hysterically recalling the day s events, and how I had been

The reuse of older art works in contemporary times is not an uncommon occurrence, and many
examples can be seen throughout the day as one goes from place to place. Even when one is

the example shown. This image was found on the internet at the American Express homepage (http:

The entablature and pediment rest on top of the columns, forming post and lintel construction. The
entablature often contains friezes in the Ionic order, and metopes and triglyphs in the Doric. The
metopes were often painted and the triglyphs may have symbolized wood cross beams that would
have been used before the knowledge of stone construction was developed. The Ionic friezes often
contained sculpted figures that relate in some way to the functionality of the temple or building.
The pediment, which rests on the entablature, usually has the shape of an isosceles triangle with
sculpture that varies from low relief to sculpture in the round.
The organization of the columns around the main body of the temple varies in about five major
styles. The first three have a small rectangular shaped building called a cella with two to four
columns in front, as with the in antis style and the prostyle, or with an additional four columns in
back as with the amphiprostyle temples. The last two styles consist of a larger rectangular building
divided into two rooms, one functioning as a cella. These two styles are mainly differentiated by
one row of columns surrounding the structure, called peripteral, or with two rows of columns,
called dipteral. If one looks at the picture with these standards of Greek architecture in mind, some
noticeable similarities and differences occur.

Concealed Handguns in College Campuses
Concealed Handgun Should college students be allowed to carry a concealed licensed handgun?
Should students be permitted individual security on college campus? In 1791, our founding fathers
established in the U.S Constitution the right that everybody has the right to bear arms . The right to
bear arms in the Second Amendment gives individuals the right to own guns and indicates that the
government cannot restrict this right. Colleges do not allow individuals to carry these weapons on
campus because most think it is too dangerous and can cause individuals to be in danger including
the law enforcement, staff and other collegestudents. Despite this right, weapons on college
campuses lead to dangerous situations, violence, and even death.
Point #1: More guns will lead to increased violence: Public and private colleges should prevent
their students from carrying concealed handguns into campus because violence has increased
more than ever in U.S history. According to an article on a student who carried a concealed
handgun on campus, authors Ian Shapira and Tom Jackman spoke to increased violence which can
be seen in the Virginia Tech Shooting where Thirty three people were killed Monday, April 17,
2007 on the campus of Virginia Tech in what appears to be the deadliest shooting rampage in
American history, according to federal law enforcement officials. Many of the victims were
students shot in a dorm and a classroom building. When students have access to weapons,

Robin Hood Genre Essay The book, The Adventures of Robin Hood by Roger Lancelyn Green
explains how Robin has numerous adventures of saving people and stealing from the rich to give
to the poor. Robin Hood was a well known hero, although he and additional subjects such as Maid
Marian and Friar Tuck are fictional. Evidence from many sources lead to Robin Hoodalso being a
fictional character, and having this story be a legend. Robin Hood is a legend and is fictional
based on evidence from the non fictionsupplement, the documentary, and the Robin Hood archery

Robin Hood Shot shows that skilled archers can hit another arrow with one shot like Robin
Hood. This may lead to evidence that he is real, but it took this archer over 900 tries to hit the
arrow from about ten to twenty feet away, which means Robin Hood may not be able to hit the
arrow with his first shot 100 feet away. A quote from Robin Hood Shot reads, To shoot his arrow
through this miniscule target, Bryon will need meticulous execution, perfect aim, and probably
some luck. This quote is significant because it shows what need to be done to make this shot
perfect, showing that hitting another arrow is possible, but there is a high chance that anyone
who is very skilled at archery could not his this shot on their first try with a longbow like Robin
Hood s. Evidence from Robin Hood Shot also shows Robin Hood is a legend because this action of
hitting another arrow with one shot of a longbow could also be an additional part to the book,
added to spice up the story even more. Overall, Robin Hood Shot shows shooting as accurate as
Robin Hood with a longbow like his is very unlikely, showing that Robin Hood is a Legend and is a

One of the most complex systems that researchers are continuously demand to understand is the
human brain. The human brain consists of billions of nerve cells or neurons connected via
electrical and chemical activities (NeuroPro). In the early 20th century, German physiologist and
psychiatrist named Hans Berger was the first to record these electrical activities in the brain ... Show

The picked up electrical signals from the scalp is then sent to the amplifiers that is used to reduce
noises in the signals (Teplan, 2002). After that, the signals will be translated from analog into
digital form precisely in a converter for which the acquired data are then stored and presented in the
personal computer (Teplan, 2002).
According to Roche and Dockree (2011), once the signal has been recorded, the researcher might
use two main approaches available namely event related potentials (ERPs) and Spectral Analysis to
further analyze the signal from brain neuronal activity. Event Related Potentials (ERPs) analyze the
changes of the continuous electrical activity in the brain caused by a cognitive, motor or perceptual
event that could determine what regions of brain are activated at a given time (Roche Dockree,
2011). Whereas Spectral Analysis shows the correlation between electrophysiological and mental
activity through decomposing brain rhythms into different frequency bands that can be measured
during times when the persons are alert and receptive (Roche Dockree, 2011).
Although, there are different methods in examining the brain neuronal activity such as MRI, MEG
and CT, the EEG is known to be a comprehensive and effective brain imaging technique (Michel
Murray, 2012). The EEG is categorized as a functional imaging method because it has the

Why Do Exotic Animals Be Kept As Pets
Not Allowing Exotic Animals to be kept as Pets Throughout humanity there has been an unstable
number of exotic animals to the world. To the point of where people started thinking it would be
smart to keep them as pets. For example, such as a snake, tiger, or a giraffe. Most people have
common sense enough to know those types of animals are not meant to belong as a pet. But there
are a few people who think differently. Exotic animals do not stay cute and adorable forever. Most
of the people fail to realize that the animalsseem innocent when young but grow into problematic
adults (Toto). To top it off, an exotic animal is quick to turn on another creature, human or not.

They get easily angered and will pounce no matter what they are up against. Those types of
animals are quick to get into fights with other animals around their neighborhood or even the
people around it. Having one in one s home can also leave damage to furniture, children, and
other household objects (Leith). Additionally, wild exotic animals carry many diseases. They
are carries of unknown one s that may not even be known to a man yet. The only way to
knowing if the animal has a disease is to be bite by it, and after that it is probably going to be too
late to do anything about it then. One is at very high risk of contracting a disease while keeping
a wild animal around. Furthermore, it is illegal to keep these types of animals, to a certain extent.
It is mainly illegal to keep them in one s possession without precise paper and license to do so.
One will be fined highly if caught with an exotic animal without the correct papers that allow the
animal to be in a human s care. Allowing exotic animals into one s home is a safety hazard to the
public, that one should

Nurses Are A Service For Quality Care And Promote...
Nurses are at the forefront of healthcare acting as the liaison between the doctors, patients, families,
social work, etc. Their goal is patient centered care that includes alleviating vulnerabilities, both
physiologic and interpersonal; it also includes therapeutic engagement and developing a relationship
in a manner that is reinforced by the information practices of a particular setting (Hobbs, 2009). In
order to provide quality care and promote successful consumer relationships, each nursemust take
on the responsibility of service, advocacy, teaching, and leadership.
Service orientation refers to patient focused care. Yoder Wise states that a service orientation
means delivering services in a manner that is least disruptive. When possible, services should be
as easy, comfortable, pleasant, and effective as possible (p. 416). In order for quality service to
be provided, nursing care must be clinically correct (product aspect) and satisfying to the
consumer (service orientation) (Yoder Wise, 2015). For instance, in the intensive care unit (ICU)
we have varying care bundles such as a foley bundle and PM care bundle. The product aspect of
the PM care bundle is to provide oral care, document intake and output, perform foley care, and
reposition the patient. The service orientation portion of the PM care bundle is to disrupt the
patient as little as possible. Sleep is important for overcoming illnesses and the ICU environment
makes that difficult for patients. By bundling

Essay on Media Analysis of Coverage of One Event
Media Analysis of Coverage of One Event
In various articles written about Louisiana governor Kathleen Blanco s visit to Cuba, the emphases
are placed on different points, as the event is described from various angles. The Cuban newspaper
Granma goes into more depth about Blanco and her entourage s activities during their visit to Cuba,
as well as giving a more detailed background of pertinent information about United States Cuba
relations, in the context of the embargo. La Nueva Cuba approaches the event from a different
angle by providing more specifics about how this particular transaction will take place. There is

The journalist appears to be attempting to create the image that Cuba has the upper hand and is in
control of the situation. A similar depiction of this Cuban dominance is shown by the description
of Governor Blanco having signed an agreement with Alimport, as opposed to Alimport and
Governor Blanco signing the agreement together. Again, this minor difference in phrasing
simultaneously suggests both a vested interest and compliance on the side of the United States.
Of course, this image of the US is one that would hardly come across in US domestic papers. Just
as a depiction of a strong Cuba boosts Cuban nationalism, so too does the representation of the
United States as an omnipotent force. Essentially, especially in conservative domestic sources, it
does not pay to weaken one s own nation being a paper tiger is better than being no tiger at all.
At first glance, Cuba planea esquivar reglas de importaciГіn con Estados Unidos, already shows a
marked difference between the articles in Granma and La Nueva Cuba. Instead of the United
States proposing the deal between Louisiana and Cuba, the depiction is that Cuba openly accepts
and appreciates the new plan. The two articles from Cuban sources share the same statistics that
Louisiana will be providing 10,000 tons of rice and 160 tons of powdered milk , neither

Pertussis or Whooping Cough Can Lead to Death Essay
Pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough, is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused
by a bacterium, Bordatella pertussis. In 2010 it affected 27, 5501 individuals and was responsible
for 262 deaths in the United States. Bordatella pertussis colonizes in the cilia of the respiratory
tract3 producing uncontrollable coughing with paroxysms (fits) followed with a high pitched
intake of air creating a whoop sound, posttussive emesis (cough induced vomiting), and
exhaustion.3 These symptoms can last up to 10 weeks.3 Adults can transfer Pertussisto infants who
are not fully immunized, subsequently, they are at a greater risk and may have serious
complications from Pertussis including pneumonia and death.4

Also, the analysis depicts the geographic distributions of pertussis mortality across the United States
. During 2000 2010, 184 deaths were directly attributed to pertussis, which occurred only in
California, Pennsylvania and Texas.2 California had the highest morality rate, at 35 deaths in the
ten year period.2 Notably, the White population of reported pertussis morality was at the highest
at 160 of 184 deaths.2 Also, there has been an increase in reported cases in the United Sates, in
2000 there were 12 reported deaths and in 2010 there were 26 deaths.2 94 percent of the pertussis
related mortality occurred in infants (less than 1 years old) who are not fully immunized.
The increase in pertussis incidences and morality may include diminished immunity, as childhood
pertussis vaccine does not provide lifelong immunity.4 Tdap booster shot at 11 or 12 years old and
expected mothers in their third trimester should be given to continue their protective antibodies and
those that would be passed to the infant.4 Also, the increased in pertussis may be a decreased usage
of the pertussis vaccine, increased doctor awareness and public health reporting.
Limitations to this analysis are pertussis is underdiagnosed and misclassified as severe cold,
influenza, or bronchitis.8 Also, mortality could be attributed to secondary infections such as

decided to pick this particular instrument because I truly enjoy the harmonic, lively and mysterious
melodies it produces when it is being played. Additionally, when the viola is played along with
other instruments its musical ranges complements the songs because it can alter between Soprano
and Bass. Even though it usually does not have solo music composed for it the viola is a string
instrument that with its elegant harmony can powerfully bring a deep and rhythmic tone to an

The Impact of Electric Vehicles on Greenhouse Gas...
The rising levels of atmospheric greenhouse gases (GHG) caused by the increased use of fossil
fuels for energy services notably transportation, heating, and the generation of electricity is known
to be one of the foremost drivers of climate change. The United States is responsible for one fourth
of the world s total greenhouse gasemissions, representing only 5% of the world population and it
becomes the world s single largest emitter of atmospheric greenhouse gasses (EPA, 2011) . Since
1970, the U.S. share of net import of crude oil and consumption had been increased significantly
and the majority of the imported liquid based petroleumfuels were used for U.S. transportation

According to the American Clean Energy and Security Act (ACES), the U.S. work towards an
economy wide CO2 cap and trade reduction program to reduce CO2 emissions to 17% below 2005
levels by 2020 (Morrow, Gallagher, Collantes, Lee, 2010).
As part of the United States planned greenhouse gas emissions reduction strategy, it is necessary
for U.S. to consider the effect of new electricity services coming to the transportation sector. One
such service that is gaining widespread interest is the electrification of personal transportation
(also referred to as passenger cars ) using Plug in Electric Vehicles (PEV s). The advantage of
electrification of personal transportation leads to improved air quality and to reduce the U.S s GHG
contribution to global climate change.
In 2007, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and the Natural Resources Defense Council
(NRDC) made a collaborated study on penetration of plug in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and
published it as Environmental Assessment of Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV), Volume

which is primarily collected from the 48 states of U.S.A. This study compared the well to wheels

Nintendo also made the intuitive interaction between gamer and video game to overcome the key

The Advocacy Of Women s Rights On The Grounds Of...
Feminism. The advocacy of women s rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic
equality to men. Why are some people so angry or offended when they hear this word? Why
does the idea of women being equal to men annoy and infuriate them? Do they not believe that
women should have the same rights as men? Should women have to cover up to avoid being cat
called by disgusting men? Should women have to cover up to avoid being molested or raped?
Should women have to stay quiet when they are raped or abused because no one would ever
believe them? Should womanbe told what to wear, say, or do with their body? I ask myself these
questions every day. The question that I ask myself the most is, Why are women of color, gay, and
transgender women constantly being disrespected?
Woman as a whole get disrespected on a daily basis. We get cat called, get told what to do with
our bodies, victim blamed, our bodies are over sexualized, and were viewed as weak and just a
piece of meat. Being a woman is already scary enough but being a gay, transgender, or woman of
color is the most terrifying experience. Its seems as if the more melanin your skin contains, the
more disrespect you receive. Why is that? Although being a woman is hard, being a white woman

The Importance Of Crime Rates In The United States
In the modern world, crime rates are becoming increasingly out of proportions. Even though crime
rates are currently on the decline, one crime represents one too many. Proponents against crime are
gradually becoming strict towards a culprit of crime including the reenactment of the death penalty,
a deterrent against crime, in hopes to reduce crime rates. Although people who commit serious
crimes, such as homicide, deserves a harsh punishment, death penalties are taking the concept of
punishment slightly too far. The reintroduction of death penalties as a deterrent against crime will
not serve as a deterrent against crime as it, similar to all other forms of political practices, can

the victim could have dependents and family members who needs him. Basing it off this, we don

his neighbor blackmailed him? Even if we accounted for motives, there exists a chance that there

Japanese Exclusionism Pros And Cons
The reasons for immigration to the land of opportunity called America in the early years of our
country are clear. America was seen as a place where an individual could start over with an equal
chance of success or failure, offered jobs, no matter what country he or she came from. This proved
to be true for Irish immigrants, German American immigrants, English and black immigrants that
came to America. However, this was not the same for many of the Japanese immigrants. One of the
many challenges Japanese immigrants faced when they arrived in the United Stateswas the efforts of
politicians, intellectuals, and community leaders to label Japanese an undesirable race. Known
collectively as the anti Japanese exclusion movement, these efforts ranged from introducing
discriminatory legislation that discouraged further Japanese immigration, encouraging and
enforcing boycotts of Japanese businesses, and spreading propaganda that offered a multitude of
reasons to justify the exclusion of Japanese from the United States. The Anti Japanese Exclusion
Movement came on the heels of the earlier Chinese exclusion movement. When Chinese laborers
began immigrating to the U.S., especially the West Coast, in the mid nineteenth century in pursuit
of work, other groups (some of which consisted of European immigrants) sought to exclude Chinese
on the premise that as Asiatics or Mongolians they were inherently unassimilable. In particular,
these exclusionists objected to the class background and what they argued was the questionable
morality of these immigrants who were mostly laborers and (in the case of women) prostitutes,
arguing that as non Christians these immigrants lacked basic morals and as such would be
detrimental to American society. Using tactics ranging from brute violence to more subtle legal
means particularly the Page Law and 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act these groups succeeded in barring
most Chinese immigration. By identifying Chinese as inherently undesirable and therefore not
worthy of being allowed into the U.S., and by laying the groundwork for associating Asia with a
paranoid vision of the impending onslaught of Asian invaders (also known as yellow peril), the anti
Chinese exclusion movement

In one and half month the single word of one mathematician has turned into a worldwide campaign

market, they may jump on this opportunity to deliver Pentium clones any time. Our strategy to stop
competitors copying our new products was heavy patent protection for the Pentium brand, however
if our brand image is continually damaged to such extent, that protection would not give us the

True Meaning Of Love In Marriage
True Meaning of Love in Marriage What is true love? True love is caring about the health, well
being, and happiness of another person to a greater degree than your own health, well being, and
happiness. In Their Eyes were watching God, the main character Janie, is involved in three
marriages that help with her self development. She is a 17 year old beautiful African American
with white ancestors.q?/ To begin, Janie is raised by her grandmother, Nanny, who wants Janie to
be happy and have a good life. Janie only knows about marriageand lovebased on what her
grandmother has told her. During the time of marriage, Janie spends most of her time to find out
the true meaning of love instead of living a life off of dreams and fantasies. She pursues her
dreams no matter what, even though they might not come true. Janie s life has been a journey
which is shown by the three different marriages she has been involved in. The first two
marriages with Logan and Joe are not what she hoped they would be and they never lasted well.
The third marriage with Tea Cake ends way too soon. In Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora
Neale Hurston, she uses Janie s marriages with Logan, Joe, and Tea Cake to show that true love

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Leader Election
2.3.1Introduction
Leader election is a primary problem in distributed systems where it is important to coordinate
processes group communications and activities. The leader is responsible for controlling and
coordinating all communications between processes in the network, absence of the leader makes
the overall system inconsistent, and loses the system reliability. To keep the system consistent, it
is necessary to nominate another leader, the LEA solves this problem by deciding which process
will be the new leader, and making it well known to other processes [(Akbar, et al., 2006), (Refai,
2010)].
2.3.2Fundamentals of Leader Election
Leader election algorithm is a program that is embedded in each node of the distributed system, any
node that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each node in the system has a state variable indicates its state value, when the process is in
ordinary operation and the leader is active in the system, then state variable contains the normal
value. Candidate state denotes that the leader is failed and the system is in the leader election
process, leader state is obtained by only one process when the election process terminates.
Moreover, every node in the system possess a local variable lead, which indicates the current
leader of the system [(Yadav, et al., 2012), (Gajre, 2013), (Lynch, et al., 2012), (Stroller, 1997)].
It is necessary that, all processes have the same LEA. As well, any LEA must satisfy the following
properties[(Murshed and Allen, 2012), (Stroller, 1997)]:
(a)Safety: The nodes in the system never disagree on the elected leader. All the nodes must
recognize the same node as a leader, after the termination of the election process, at most one node
will be elected as a leader, and all other nodes must have the same lead variable value.
In other words, for all nodes i and j in the system, if statei = normal and statej = normal, then leadi =

Thesis Of Freakonomics
AP Macroeconomics Summer Homework

Period 5
I) Introduction
Book Title: Freakonomics
Author name: Steven D. Levitt, Stephen J. Dubner
The author Steven Levitt studied economics at Harvard University and MIT. He is primarily
known for his work in the field of crime. The title Freakonomics means a study of economics based
on the principles of incentives. The title is related to the book since he emphasizes how incentives
drive and affect people s actions. Although this book does not have a single theme, the main focus
of the book is a new way of interpreting the world using economic tools. He explores incentives,
information asymmetry, conventional wisdom, crime and abortion, and parenting throughout the
six chapters of the book. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an example of incentive, Levitt introduces a daycare study in which a daycare center fines $3
for parents who comes late. The study finds out that the number of parents coming late increased
as they put a $3 of fine. He explains that the incentive of $3 was too small, and the fine made the
parents to not feel the moral guilt for showing up late, resulting in more parents being late.
Levitt next examines the incentives that cause people to cheat. The first example of cheating is a
story of teachers cheating in Chicago public schools. To avoid the risk of getting fired or getting
penalty by the government for low test scores, many teachers chose to cheat and inflate their
students scores. They cheated by allowing the students to have more time during test, giving away
answers, and even by changing students answers by themselves. In this case, we can see that the
schoolteachers are driven by economic incentives. For them, moral and social incentives are not as
strong as economic incentives. Similar cheating can be seen in sumo wrestling. In Japan, sumo
wrestling is a very popular sports and the high ranked wrestlers get great honor. Also, among sumo
wrestlers, their rank determines their salary, reputation, how they are treated, and even how much
he gets to eat and sleep. Because they are so desperate for higher rank, the incentive for cheating is
very powerful. In the crucial matches that determines sumo wrestler s ranking, they cheat by

HP have been contributing in the field of network architecture, SDN, BYOD virtualization from a
very long time. Market Research: In recent times, many companies are coming up with various
network monitoring analysis tools. But these tools are restricted in giving the network topology
and traffic analysis. Further such tools are too costly. Still such tools have huge demand in the
market, as it simplifies the network management process by a great deal. Also with the expansion
of Software Defined Network, network analysis space is gaining a tremendous amount of
importance since such tools are needed to refine the network performance. For example, Birch
Communications is planning to develop a real time monitoring tool (SAM) to assist its customer
for network analysis. Similarly, various companies like SolarWinds, Juniper Network and many
more are constantly striving hard to make progress in this perspective. Business Concept: The idea
of developing such product that automates routing and helps in analyzing network came from the
troubles that a network administrator had to face in resolving network issues in the backbone of the
Internet. External Gateway Protocol (EGP) are incapable of adjusting to the network anomalies
easily. Moreover, hackers can also introduce delays, loops that affect the network connectivity and
operations. Hence to resolve these issues at faster rate the network administrator requires a

Taxing Multinational Corporations, U.s. And Foreign...
While taxing multinational corporations, the U.S. and other foreign governments have faced many
problems. Treaties and laws were set up to avoid double taxation for these multinational
corporations but instead of avoiding double taxation it delineated a way for tax avoidance. With the
old laws, these multinational corporations were allowed to take a taxadvantage. They were allowed
to move their business revenues, which permitted them to go into a lower tax bracket and be
taxed at a tax haven . This allowed them to claim less tax and be more profitable. For example,
foreign owned corporations pay less tax if operating in the U.S. rather than elsewhere and vice
versa. This creates a tax advantage for these corporations because these companies try to transfer
their prices. Their attempt is to shift income away from the U.S. and deduct expenses toward the
U.S. This would create a lower taxable income for those companies that are foreign owned. Though
this was not the intention of the IRS. The IRS hoped to avoid double taxation for these
multinational corporations, because then they would have to pay tax in the country they are
subsiding and the country they are doing business in. However, it is important to note that the IRS
has tried to analyze almost every transaction of multinational companies in order to see if these
related party transactions are in arm s length or not. However even with these attempts to analyze
every transaction, some were still using the laws to

industry in France.

One of the items of the company, Item 345 a sole product for the company saw its price raised in
2002 from FF15 to FF20 a meter. This decision has been taken in order to strengthen the capital
position.
However, the competitors kept their price at FF15 for similar items and the company Lille

Question 3:Is there any possibility that competition might raise their prices if Lille Tissages
maintains its price of FF20? If so, how do you take this factor into your analysis?
Indeed, if Lille Tissages, S.A maintains its price of FF20 the competitors might raise their prices
even if it gives them a competitive advantage if they are lower. But because they all have higher
costs and some of them are in tight financial straits they might consider an increase of their price.
However, this raise of the competitors might be benefit to Lille Tissages, S.A. Indeed, we know
that Lille Tissages,S.A has a better quality than its competitor and the clients might choose a better
quality for a same price. And competitors will lose market shares which will benefit to Lille
Tissages, S.A that will gain those market shares.

Description Of The Image Of God
Description of the Image of God
Imago Dei which is Latin for the Image of God. In Genesis 1: 27 So God created mankind in his
own image... In the beginning it was Gods intent for mankind to posses the image of God as a
part of His creation. However, due to the fall of man into sin this image of God has been
corrupted from its original state and intent from what God intended it to be. In Genesis 9:6
Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has
God made mankind. Is an example that the image of God still existed even after the fall of
mankind into sin. John Calvin believed this to be true in his theology according to John S.
Hammet Calvin saw the image not as totally erased but hideously distorted and deformed. This
concept is what Calvin described as Total Depravity, nevertheless, the image of God was not lost
just distorted, and can be restored through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ if one chooses to
believe in Him. The New Testament affirms that Jesus Christ was sacrificed to cover our sins so
that we can be righteous in Him through His image. The apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 3:9 10
since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being
renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the one who created him. In this short but
powerful passage Paul tells us to restore the image of God within us which can now be
accomplished because of what Jesus

The Negative Consequences Of The Holocaust Genocide
The Holocaust was a mass extermination, otherwise known as a genocide, against the Jewish
population. Genocide refers to an intentional killing of an entire race or ethnicity. Hitler began to
attack the Jews after World War I, when looking for someone to blame for all the trouble and
negative consequences Germanyhad to face after the war. Germany had to face the immense cost for
reparations that were stated in the Treaty of Versailles. Hitler stated in his Mein Kampf (My
Struggle) that Germany had been stabbed in the back by Jews and Communists during the war
(Merriman, 1014). With this mindset, Hitler also developed his theory that the Aryan race (those
with blonde hair and blue eyes) were dominant over others. This pushed Hitler to intentionally

There existed concentration camps throughout Eastern Europe, but they were most prevalent in
Poland. Since before WWII, Poland held the highest number of the Jewish population in Europe.
Therefore, it was the core place for eliminating the Jewish people. In these camps, the people
were either sent to labor or extermination camps. As described by Levi, women, children, people
who were not capable of working were sent to extermination camps. Those who were overworked
in labor camps, faced deprivation of their humanity and of basic rights. As it states in, Reflections
on holocaust and Holocaust by David Caldwell, the disaster of the Holocaust was a failure of
civilization itself (11). Caldwell goes further in describing the chaos, or Shoah, as an exposure for
the human s capability and inclination to commit genocide, as well as others unwillingness to
confront what was happening. There were people in Germany and around the world who were well

The Speech By Frederick Douglas
The speech What to a Slave is the Fourth of July? was spoken, by Frederick Douglas, to the
supporters and abolitionists at the Rochester Ladies Anti Slavery Society of Fourth of July. In his
speech Frederick Douglas speaks heavily on the subject of abolitioning slavery. Frederick Douglas
provides comparisons and analogies, appeals to the audience s logic, and appeals to the audience s
emotion in order to convince the audience to more vigorously fight for the abolition of slavery.
Douglas provides comparisons between the founding fathers and the abolition movement. He does
this by using antithesis when he brings up that To side with the right, against the wrong, with the
weak against the strong, and with the oppressed against the oppressor! is what the founding fathers
had to do in order to fight against the oppression of Britain. Frederick Douglas use of antithesis
explains to the audience that the abolitionist movement may be fighting the losing side, but they
are fighting for the good of the country. The abolitionists and its supporters are led to believe that
the founding fathers faced the same odds and situation. The audience likely feels inspired to fight
more vigorously for the oppressed due to the fact that they admire the founding fathers greatly.
Frederick Douglas again supports this comparison through the use of asyndeton. When Douglas
says the founding fathers fought the oppression of Britain by Fully appreciating the hardship to be
encountered,

Health Care delivery is a social problem in Ontario for many reasons such as Emergency Room
wait times, shortage of health care professionals, and care of seniors.
On top of this, according to an article from August 2012 by the Toronto Star Ontario hospitals have

The Use Of Hack Into A Single Or Networked Computer
There are thousands of ways to hack into a single or networked computer. All hacker does not
have a notorious reason for trying to access a network. Many hackers are paid by a company to
find its network vulnerabilities. These hackers are known as white hackers or pen testers. The most
popular way to hack into a computer is with a certain attack named brute force.
The brute force attack is one of the most popular cracking methods., it is not just for password
cracking. Brute force attacks can also be used to discover hidden pages and content in a web
application. This attack is basically hit and miss until you succeed. This attack sometimes takes
longer, but its success rate is higher.
The success of the attack depends on various factors. Factors that affect most are password length
and combination of characters, letters and special characters. It does not make brute force
impossible but it makes brute force difficult. It will take a longer time to reach the password by
brute forcing. Almost all hash cracking algorithms use the brute force to hit and try. This attack is
best when you have offline access to data.
Brute force password cracking is also very important in computer security. It is used to check the
weak passwords used in the system, network or application. Brute force attack when an attacker
uses a set of predefined values to attack a target and analyze the response until he succeeds.
Success depends on the set of predefined values. If it is larger, it will

  • 4. Greed In Julius Caesar Research Paper Greed is an intense desire for wealth or power which plays a pivotal role in human nature and in personal life. Furthermore, greed plays an influential role in our government as well as in modern day conflict. For instance, nations have greedily gone to war to protect important commodities and politicians make legislative decisions in their own self interest. Centuries ago, greed played an equally important role in politics and conflict. In Shakespeare s Julius Caesar, set in 44 BC, greed plays an integral role in the main conflict of the play. In both Shakespeare s Julius Caesar and Thurber s The Tiger Who Would Be King , a power struggle emerges as a result of a specific character s greed or ambition for glory. The power struggle in The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In The Tiger Who Would Be King , the tiger quickly reveals his ambition for glory by proclaiming that when the moon rises, it will be a yellow moon with black stripes, in my honor (Thurber 1). Thus, one of the tiger s motives for overthrowing the lion is to gain glory and honor amongst the other creatures. In Julius Caesar, Brutus s motive for joining the conspirators and assassinating Caesar seems clear. Brutus explains If then that friend demand why Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more (III, ii, 21 24). Consequently, Brutus establishes that his true motive for killing Caesar was the wellbeing of Rome. Throughout the entire play, other characters perceive Brutus as a noble man. However, he is the tragic hero of Julius Caesar and several of his tragic flaws come to light throughout the play. For instance, Brutus demonstrates that he is arrogant and egotistical when he tells Cassius he is not afraid of his threats because he is armed (III, iii, 69 77). Brutus is fully aware of his portrayal as a nobleman and thinks very highly of himself. Hence, Brutus s reason for joining the conspirators may have been to cling onto his title as a nobleman while gaining the glory and support of Rome s citizens. Moreover, Brutus chooses to join the conspirators upon receiving fake letters from citizens urging him to lead Rome (I, ii, 327 334). Undoubtedly, Brutus is not greedy or interested in acquiring power. Brutus only wanted to assassinate Caesar to save Rome from the potential negative effects which Caesar could cause during his rule. Yet, Brutus has an underlying motive to gain honor and glory because he knows killing Caesar to save Rome and please the citizens will allow him to appear heroic and honorable. Hence, Brutus illustrates how a desire for glory can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Depravity In Catcher In The Rye In this novel, the author creates Holden Caulfield, a boy that is the world s punching bag , and illustrates his difficult life through presenting his failures clearly to the reader. Salinger shows that Holden has had a deprived childhood by explaining to the reader that Holden s beloved brother Allie died at a young age. Holden still has not gotten over this unfathomable loss. Another way the author shows Holden s depravity is by making the parents look as if they are not part of his life. Holden does not have a good relationship with his parents and this is presented very clearly in the novel. This novel is predominantly about showing Holden s attempts at achieving his goals in life only to fall flat on his face to fail. A first time reader of The Catcher in the Rye might not know what to think after reading the novel. It is not the typical novel. The Catcher in the Rye, a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jane Gallagher was an old friend of Holden s, and he mentions her many times during the story. He mentions that he will call her, but he never gets the nerve to. She is an important part of his past that he misses a lot, and he wants to go back and be with her again. The Museum of Natural History represents a different aspect of his past. While Jane Gallagher makes Holden want to return to his past, the Museum of Natural History sort of changes his mind. He remembers how he used to go there all the time, and how he was different, but the wax figures were always the same. He realizes that he can t go back in time, because he is not the same as he used to be. He also realizes that he will never be the same as he used to be. J.D. Salinger s use of symbolism in The Catcher in the Rye is very helpful in conveying hidden messages. He uses different symbols to use these messages, such as Jane, the Museum and the ducks. They all represent Holden, showing the way he thinks and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When I was in the 7th grade, all students were required to take a Data Processing class, which essentially just teaches you how to type on the computer at a proficient level. I had Data Processing at the end of the day, and was really not feeling well. It was always a rule in the classroom not to use your phone, but I was ill and my mom had asked my if I would like it if she would pick me up from school. Of course that was way better than riding the bus, so I tried to discretely respond that yes, I would like her to pick me up from school. It was in that moment when the English Language Learner Aid (ELLA) caught me texting my mother and told the head teacher. The ELLA and the teacher talked back and forth about what they should do about my phone usage in front of the whole class! I was mortified, especially when the ELLA made the comment, Wow! Caught using your phone so early in the year? I m sure my face was as red as a tomato. Of course, I didn t know what to expect when I said that the only person I was texting was my mother, but it definitely wasn t the response I got from the ELLA. She said, That s what everyone says when they get caught texting. The women obviously didn t know my character, but I relented. I don t really ever get in trouble, and I usually try and commit myself to pleasing teachers, so I didn t know how to go about this embarrassment nonchalantly. Eventually, between the two teachers, and in front of the entire class, they decided that I would not have my phone taken away, and would just be let off with a warning. The entablature and pediment rest on top of the columns, forming post and lintel construction. The entablature often contains friezes in the Ionic order, and metopes and triglyphs in the Doric. The metopes were often painted and the triglyphs may have symbolized wood cross beams that would have been used before the knowledge of stone construction was developed. The Ionic friezes often contained sculpted figures that relate in some way to the functionality of the temple or building. The pediment, which rests on the entablature, usually has the shape of an isosceles triangle with sculpture that varies from low relief to sculpture in the round. The organization of the columns around the main body of the temple varies in about five major styles. The first three have a small rectangular shaped building called a cella with two to four columns in front, as with the in antis style and the prostyle, or with an additional four columns in back as with the amphiprostyle temples. The last two styles consist of a larger rectangular building divided into two rooms, one functioning as a cella. These two styles are mainly differentiated by one row of columns surrounding the structure, called peripteral, or with two rows of columns, called dipteral. • 12. Concealed Handguns in College Campuses Concealed Handgun Should college students be allowed to carry a concealed licensed handgun? Should students be permitted individual security on college campus? In 1791, our founding fathers established in the U.S Constitution the right that everybody has the right to bear arms . The right to bear arms in the Second Amendment gives individuals the right to own guns and indicates that the government cannot restrict this right. Colleges do not allow individuals to carry these weapons on campus because most think it is too dangerous and can cause individuals to be in danger including the law enforcement, staff and other collegestudents. Despite this right, weapons on college campuses lead to dangerous situations, violence, and even death. Point #1: More guns will lead to increased violence: Public and private colleges should prevent their students from carrying concealed handguns into campus because violence has increased more than ever in U.S history. According to an article on a student who carried a concealed handgun on campus, authors Ian Shapira and Tom Jackman spoke to increased violence which can be seen in the Virginia Tech Shooting where Thirty three people were killed Monday, April 17, 2007 on the campus of Virginia Tech in what appears to be the deadliest shooting rampage in American history, according to federal law enforcement officials. Many of the victims were students shot in a dorm and a classroom building. When students have access to weapons, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evidence from many sources lead to Robin Hoodalso being a fictional character, and having this story be a legend. This may lead to evidence that he is real, but it took this archer over 900 tries to hit the arrow from about ten to twenty feet away, which means Robin Hood may not be able to hit the arrow with his first shot 100 feet away. A quote from Robin Hood Shot reads, To shoot his arrow through this miniscule target, Bryon will need meticulous execution, perfect aim, and probably some luck. This quote is significant because it shows what need to be done to make this shot perfect, showing that hitting another arrow is possible, but there is a high chance that anyone who is very skilled at archery could not his this shot on their first try with a longbow like Robin Hood s. Evidence from Robin Hood Shot also shows Robin Hood is a legend because this action of hitting another arrow with one shot of a longbow could also be an additional part to the book, added to spice up the story even more. According to Roche and Dockree (2011), once the signal has been recorded, the researcher might use two main approaches available namely event related potentials (ERPs) and Spectral Analysis to further analyze the signal from brain neuronal activity. Event Related Potentials (ERPs) analyze the changes of the continuous electrical activity in the brain caused by a cognitive, motor or perceptual event that could determine what regions of brain are activated at a given time (Roche Dockree, 2011). Whereas Spectral Analysis shows the correlation between electrophysiological and mental activity through decomposing brain rhythms into different frequency bands that can be measured during times when the persons are alert and receptive (Roche Dockree, 2011). Why are some people so angry or offended when they hear this word? Why does the idea of women being equal to men annoy and infuriate them? Do they not believe that women should have the same rights as men? Should women have to cover up to avoid being cat called by disgusting men? Should women have to cover up to avoid being molested or raped? Should women have to stay quiet when they are raped or abused because no one would ever believe them? Should womanbe told what to wear, say, or do with their body? I ask myself these questions every day. The question that I ask myself the most is, Why are women of color, gay, and transgender women constantly being disrespected? Woman as a whole get disrespected on a daily basis. We get cat called, get told what to do with our bodies, victim blamed, our bodies are over sexualized, and were viewed as weak and just a piece of meat. Being a woman is already scary enough but being a gay, transgender, or woman of color is the most terrifying experience. Its seems as if the more melanin your skin contains, the more disrespect you receive. Why is that? Although being a woman is hard, being a white woman gives you so much more privilege than what a woman of color gets. First of all, white woman are seen as beautiful and attractive because of their skin. They aren t constantly told that their skin is too dark or ugly because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even though crime rates are currently on the decline, one crime represents one too many. Proponents against crime are gradually becoming strict towards a culprit of crime including the reenactment of the death penalty, a deterrent against crime, in hopes to reduce crime rates. Although people who commit serious crimes, such as homicide, deserves a harsh punishment, death penalties are taking the concept of punishment slightly too far. • 34. Japanese Exclusionism Pros And Cons The reasons for immigration to the land of opportunity called America in the early years of our country are clear. America was seen as a place where an individual could start over with an equal chance of success or failure, offered jobs, no matter what country he or she came from. This proved to be true for Irish immigrants, German American immigrants, English and black immigrants that came to America. However, this was not the same for many of the Japanese immigrants. One of the many challenges Japanese immigrants faced when they arrived in the United Stateswas the efforts of politicians, intellectuals, and community leaders to label Japanese an undesirable race. Known collectively as the anti Japanese exclusion movement, these efforts ranged from introducing discriminatory legislation that discouraged further Japanese immigration, encouraging and enforcing boycotts of Japanese businesses, and spreading propaganda that offered a multitude of reasons to justify the exclusion of Japanese from the United States. The Anti Japanese Exclusion Movement came on the heels of the earlier Chinese exclusion movement. When Chinese laborers began immigrating to the U.S., especially the West Coast, in the mid nineteenth century in pursuit of work, other groups (some of which consisted of European immigrants) sought to exclude Chinese on the premise that as Asiatics or Mongolians they were inherently unassimilable. In particular, these exclusionists objected to the class background and what they argued was the questionable morality of these immigrants who were mostly laborers and (in the case of women) prostitutes, arguing that as non Christians these immigrants lacked basic morals and as such would be detrimental to American society. Using tactics ranging from brute violence to more subtle legal means particularly the Page Law and 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act these groups succeeded in barring most Chinese immigration. By identifying Chinese as inherently undesirable and therefore not worthy of being allowed into the U.S., and by laying the groundwork for associating Asia with a paranoid vision of the impending onslaught of Asian invaders (also known as yellow peril), the anti Chinese exclusion movement ... The title Freakonomics means a study of economics based on the principles of incentives. The title is related to the book since he emphasizes how incentives drive and affect people s actions. As an example of incentive, Levitt introduces a daycare study in which a daycare center fines $3 for parents who comes late. The study finds out that the number of parents coming late increased as they put a $3 of fine. He explains that the incentive of $3 was too small, and the fine made the parents to not feel the moral guilt for showing up late, resulting in more parents being late. Levitt next examines the incentives that cause people to cheat. The first example of cheating is a story of teachers cheating in Chicago public schools. To avoid the risk of getting fired or getting penalty by the government for low test scores, many teachers chose to cheat and inflate their students scores. They cheated by allowing the students to have more time during test, giving away answers, and even by changing students answers by themselves. In this case, we can see that the schoolteachers are driven by economic incentives. For them, moral and social incentives are not as strong as economic incentives. Similar cheating can be seen in sumo wrestling. In Japan, sumo wrestling is a very popular sports and the high ranked wrestlers get great honor. Also, among sumo wrestlers, their rank determines their salary, reputation, how they are treated, and even how much he gets to eat and sleep. Because they are so desperate for higher rank, the incentive for cheating is very powerful. In the crucial matches that determines sumo wrestler s ranking, they cheat by ... Treaties and laws were set up to avoid double taxation for these multinational corporations but instead of avoiding double taxation it delineated a way for tax avoidance. With the old laws, these multinational corporations were allowed to take a taxadvantage. They were allowed to move their business revenues, which permitted them to go into a lower tax bracket and be taxed at a tax haven . This allowed them to claim less tax and be more profitable. For example, foreign owned corporations pay less tax if operating in the U.S. rather than elsewhere and vice versa. This creates a tax advantage for these corporations because these companies try to transfer their prices. Their attempt is to shift income away from the U.S. and deduct expenses toward the U.S. This would create a lower taxable income for those companies that are foreign owned. Though this was not the intention of the IRS. The IRS hoped to avoid double taxation for these multinational corporations, because then they would have to pay tax in the country they are subsiding and the country they are doing business in. However, it is important to note that the IRS has tried to analyze almost every transaction of multinational companies in order to see if these related party transactions are in arm s length or not. In the beginning it was Gods intent for mankind to posses the image of God as a part of His creation. However, due to the fall of man into sin this image of God has been corrupted from its original state and intent from what God intended it to be. In Genesis 9:6 Whoever sheds human blood, by humans shall their blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made mankind. Is an example that the image of God still existed even after the fall of mankind into sin. John Calvin believed this to be true in his theology according to John S. Hammet Calvin saw the image not as totally erased but hideously distorted and deformed. This concept is what Calvin described as Total Depravity, nevertheless, the image of God was not lost just distorted, and can be restored through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ if one chooses to believe in Him. The New Testament affirms that Jesus Christ was sacrificed to cover our sins so that we can be righteous in Him through His image. The apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 3:9 10 since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices, and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the one who created him. The Speech By Frederick Douglas The speech What to a Slave is the Fourth of July? was spoken, by Frederick Douglas, to the supporters and abolitionists at the Rochester Ladies Anti Slavery Society of Fourth of July. In his speech Frederick Douglas speaks heavily on the subject of abolitioning slavery. Frederick Douglas provides comparisons and analogies, appeals to the audience s logic, and appeals to the audience s emotion in order to convince the audience to more vigorously fight for the abolition of slavery. Douglas provides comparisons between the founding fathers and the abolition movement. He does this by using antithesis when he brings up that To side with the right, against the wrong, with the weak against the strong, and with the oppressed against the oppressor! is what the founding fathers had to do in order to fight against the oppression of Britain. Frederick Douglas use of antithesis explains to the audience that the abolitionist movement may be fighting the losing side, but they are fighting for the good of the country. The abolitionists and its supporters are led to believe that the founding fathers faced the same odds and situation. The audience likely feels inspired to fight more vigorously for the oppressed due to the fact that they admire the founding fathers greatly.
