Rod Blagojevich Research Paper
Rod Blagojevich was at the height of his political career in 2008, he was seating in his second
gubernatorial term as the Governor of Illinois. Before his was the Governor he was elected to
the Illinois House of Representative in 1992 and then won the US House Seat for Illinois in
1996. All of this was nice for the ascetic view of his political resume, but behind the veil he was a
devious, cynical, crass and corrupt politician . He wouldn t for anything to get what he wanted
and the people that he wanted in the seats around him. This view began all the way back in 1992
and it only picked up speed from there. In 2008, he was impeached by the House of
Representatives 114 1 and by the Senate 59 0, this was the first time in Illinois State history... Show

Some of the key events that were caught by the Tribune happened between the years of 2004
2008. Most of the people that were arrested were indicted by the courts and all of them either
worked for Blagojevich or directly worked with Blagojevich or his people. Some of the
prominent people that were indicted were: Stuart Levine (R) who was on the board of the
Health Facilities Planning Board and the Teachers Retirement System. Levine was a well known
Republican but abruptly resigned from both positions and began the first stages of the
investigations of Blago. Levine was eventually charged with extortion and contributions to
Blago. Another key individual was Antoine Resko who was a top fundraiser for Blagojevich
campaign. He was also in a prominent professional relationship with Blagojevich s wife Pamela
as they worked together with her Real estate business. Resko was also charged with extortion and
when he was caught giving multi million dollar kickbacks. The individuals that were charge

Creativity And The Mad Genius
Creativity and the Mad Genius On July 2, 1961, Ernest Hemingway put a gun to his head.
Seventy one years earlier, on July 29, 1890, Vincent van Gogh shot himself in the abdomen
while painting a wheat field. Robin Williams hung himself on August 24, 2014, less than two
centuries after Vincent van Gogh. Along with Ludwig von Beethoven, who died of natural
causes in 1827, four of the greatest creative minds each suffered from bipolar disorder,
depression, or epilepsy, usually suffering from other physical ailments as well. Ernest
Hemingway was the only one to seem to have a genetic disposition towards mental illness. None
of these men led similar lives. Van Gogh only saw one of his paintings sold, while Beethoven
was an acclaimed composer by the age of twenty nine. Hemingway was friends with some of the
greatest literary minds of the day, and Robin Williams was one of the most successful comedians
to date. The common link, besides their mental illnesses, is the idea that each of these men were
searching for something more within their respective arts. Four fields of fine arts that require the
constant creation of something new claimed the lives of four men who gave it all they had, some
losing, and some finding themselves along the way. Over the past sixty years, facts about
depression and the reality of it have come to light; however, there are still negative stigmas
concerning the mental illness and how people ought to endure through the pain. Despite these

Final paper
Intro
Poverty and crime has a relationship that goes hand in hand and have been portrayed by specialists
from all fields, from sociologists to market analysts. Today, the legislature is attempting to manage
poverty and confront the issues of criminal activities as they attempt to build up their nation s
economy and society. Beginning from the 1970s, researchers in the US pointed increasingly at the
connection between unemployment, crime, and destitution (Steinbuch, 2013). An assortment of
social, financial, and mental components may bring about dangerous practices, for example, armed
robbery. A sociological hypothesis that states armed robbery might be brought about by variables

This syndrome happens when a hostage choose not the cooperate with the hostage takers. This
particularly incorporates conduct, for example, debating the philosophy of the terrorist bunch
included, contending with the hostage takers, or turning out to be physically testing toward the
hostage takers (Lee, 2013). The relationship that it creates is one of irritation, disdain and hatred
form the hostage taker. The typical result of this relationship amongst hostage and hostage taker is
not quite the same as that of the Stockholm Syndrome. A hostage takers may come to disdain a
hostage so strongly that at the first change he gets he kills the hostage.

Literacy In Health Care
When I was younger, doctor s offices were a big part of my life. One appointment, I walked into
the office, of course with my mother because of my father s low attention span, and chose the
seat that had the fewest people surrounding it. My mom grabbed a magazine and we would
discuss what was going on in the news, or in our lives. I could hear my heart beating up until the
nurse called my name, so I did not listen to much of what my mother was talking about. I would
just stare at the pale brown walls, and wish I could just disappear in the lifelessness of it all. I
always felt a rush as the nurse called my name. I would walk over and the nurse would begin to
make small talk, which I was never interested in having. I just wanted to get out of there. Each
time I knew I was going to hear something I didn t want to. Whether I had to start a new

In order to understand a diagnosis, you need to know what is actually being said to you. Part of this
understanding is knowing the severity of your condition. Whether you will be needing to simply
take a pill, or if you will be dying within the next few months and there is nothing you can do. All
of this can be overwhelming, but somehow our literacy allows us to take in the information and
understand it. Sometimes, it feels as if literacy is something we don t understand; however, for
most of us it just comes naturally. Growing up, I was always at higher reading levels than my
classmates, and was able to write very well. When it came to basic literacy, I was golden. But I
had to understand a higher level of literacy, something that would change my life forever. I had a
challenge to face that no one else my age had to deal with. Because of the medical condition I was
born with, I had to understand literacy on an entirely different level. I had been born with insulin
resistance and the doctors were always explaining what this meant, and I had to understand

India s Political Double Standard in Releasing Rijiv...
The Tamil Nadu state government s decision to release the convicts in India s former prime
minister Rajiv Gandhi s assassination case caused a ripple across the nation. The Tamil Nadu
cabinet on February 19, 2014 declared that they will release all the convicts with due consultations
with the centre.
The state chief minister J Jayalalithaa in her statement informed The cabinet has taken a decision
to release the three convicts, Perarivalan, Murugan and Santhan, along with those four, Nalini,
Robert Pyas, Jayakumar and Ravichandran who are undergoing life sentence. The decision will be
conveyed to the Centre for appropriate action. If we don t get their response in three days, we will
release all convicts in accordance with the rights granted under the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The state government s decision came a day after the Supreme Court commuted death sentences on
three men involved in the assassination to life imprisonment citing the 11 year delay in deciding
their mercy pleas. The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam and comprising
of Justices Ranjan Gogoi and S K Singh then left the decision of remission for the three convicts
Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan on the Tamil Nadustate government.
The Tamil Nadu government s decision resulted in an emotional outburst from Rajiv Gandhi s son
and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in his political rally the same day. Rahul said I am sad

Defective Bacteria Experiment
Discussion and Conclusion: The original plates were swabbed with defective bacteria that did
not grow to show sufficient, so new plates were made in replacement and the following results
and conclusions are based off of observations from the new plates. The hypothesis stated earlier
was rejected by this experiment because in the hypothesis rubbing alcohol was predicted to have
the largest zone of inhibition, but according to the class and overall average, Betadine has the
largest zone of inhibition diameter at 42.2 mm for the class average and 39.6 mm for the overall
average. As shown in the graph and table, the largest diameter lengths in order from least to
greatest was Betadine with a class average of 42.2 mm and an overall average of 39.6... Show more

As stated in the introduction Betadine contains iodine which, through iodination, can quickly
kill the cells, whereas rubbing alcohol has to dehydrate the cell which takes longer than the
Betadine, thus explaining the result because of the ability of Betadine to kill more bacteria in a
less amount of time. Group 4 s was similar to all the other group except for rubbing
alcohol, which was 28.5 compared to the class overage of 20.6. The group that had the closest
result was Group 5, who got 27.0 mm. For rubbing alcohol, the zone of inhibition was an ellipse,
so the group decided to take the average of the longest and shorted diameters; therefore, two
possible sources of error could have been either in the measuring itself, or in the calculation of the
average. Taking the ideas from this experiment, some other tests could be proposed to investigate
the topic further. One experiment could be trying new products that have the same active
ingredient. The results would show whether the active ingredient has the largest effect or if the
bacterial growth is mainly affected by the combination of ingredients in a certain product. Another
experiment could be changing the bacteria. This experiment would reveal if the products are more
effective on a certain type of bacteria or if Betadine is the effective

Slavery Is The Key For Achieving Freedom
In today s society, we take many things for granted because they come easy to us. Education, in
many of our lives, is something that is dreaded, something that we do only because we have to.
But 200 years ago, things were much different. Slavery unfortunately existed in our society, and
slaves weren t granted the gift of education. By not having an education, they were not able to
completely understand their situation, and therefore unable to get out of it. Slaves had a limited
option in achieving freedom, and in order to do so, they had to become educated, enough to be able
to understand slavery, and they had to be religious to be able to see through the hypocrisy of the
religious slaveholders.
For slaves, education is the key to achieving freedom. It develops one s sense of curiosity, and
allows the mind to question things, and to develop it s own ideas and opinions. For slaves, the
gift of education was rare, but if one was lucky enough to have it, they began to see the true
nature of slavery, and it made them more likely to try and become free. When Frederick
Douglass was a young boy, he befriended a few white children who gave him a glimpse of what
having an education is like. When remembering this important time in his life, he says, With their
kindly aid, at different times and different places, I finally succeeded in learning to read (66 67).
The young boys gave Douglass a book, called the Columbian Orator, the first book he had ever laid
hands on. This

Gulf Real Estate Properties Case
Gulf Real Estate Properties has gathered information on condominium sales in the gulf coast of
Mexico to provide information on the current real estate market. Condominium characteristics
are listed along with list price, sale price and days to sell. Condominiums characteristics are
classified by Gulf Views and Non Golf Views. We will take the information provided to conduct
an analysis that will assist other parties in understanding the real estate market of the Gulf Coast.
First, we found that the average (mean) figures for the Gulf View condominiums are: List price
$537,080, Sell price $515,800, days to sell 186.65. From these figures and the data provided, we
can calculate outliers of the Interquartile range. The Interquartile range is a series of figures taken
from data that are clustered to a central figure, the mean (Elizabeth Staple, 2015). The median for
the list price is $480,000, the first quartile figure is $331,000 and the third quartile is $666,000.
The first and third... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We estimate with a 95% certainty that the mean will be included in a 112 sample size. As well,
management requested a sales mean estimate for the No Gulf view category with an allowed
standard error of $15,000. We estimate with 95% certainty that the No Gulf view condominiums
will have a mean with in 32 samples. Finally, management has added two listing, one for a Gulf
View at $589,000 and a No Gulf View at $285,000. Using our correlation coefficients, we notice
that there is a very close correlation between listing price and selling price, representedby .998 for
Gulf views and .993 No Gulf Views. In addition if we create a ratio of mean listing price to sale
price. For example, we use the sale price and divide it by the list price, 515.8 / $537.08 = .96 and
multiply this result by 100 to get a percentage of 96%.Therefore we calculate that the sale price will
be $565,440 for a Gulf View

Aortic Stenosis Is Recognised As The Most Prevalent Form...
Aortic Stenosis is recognised as the most prevalent form of valvular heart disease in the ageing

patients being referred for consideration of an aortic valve replacement. Although surgical aortic
valve replacement (AVR), or open heartsurgery, remains the best type of treatment for symptomatic
severe aortic stenosis, other treatment options include: Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation

Each patient entering the procedure may have different expectations about the outcome of the
procedure, but there is little evidence supporting patient expectation and patient satisfaction.
However, the specialist nurse is a key role in this, and they can set realistic and achievable goals
for the patient at each step along the process. The aim of this experiment was to ensure that the
patient understands that a decision will be reached that will reflect the specialist team s views
as to the best interests of the individual patient (Frame 2015). In regards to the age of the patients
receiving a TAVI procedure, in general the patients are elderly. Several of the studies I read
listed the mean age of their patients as 79 +/ 9 years (Ye et al 2015) (Cordoba Soriano et al

procedure. Feasibility and good early outcomes associated with transcatheter aortic and mitral
valve in valve (VinV) implantation into failed surgical bioprostheses have been confirmed, but the
mid term and long term outcomes are unknown (Ye et al 2015). These patients were followed for

The No Child Left Behind
We, as a country, have some of the lowest scoring in international tests in reading, math, and
science when compared to several other countries. In order to improve education in America, we
have to go to the root of our problem in the school system and find better ways to enforce new rules
and regulations that wouldn t be detrimental to both students, schools, and educators alike. The No
Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act is having a negative effect on our educationsystem because it
reduces the choices of schools for parents, and the distribution of qualified teachers. It also has a
negative impact on the amount that kids are able to learn in school. The NCLB was signed into law
in 2001 by President George W. Bush. The act is was meant to give assistance in establishing
good reading and math programs. Programs such as reading first funded at $1.02 billion in 2004
were made to help states and their districts set up scientific, research based reading programs for
students in K 3 grades by having districts compete for federal money (Editorial Projects in
Education Research Center 8). Billions of dollars had been put towards programs like reading first
but much of that said money has either been cut or never reach the set target goal of promised
money. Despite the intention to increase student academic achievement, the act has failed to do so
in several cases arguably putting us in a worse situation than before. Proficiency requirements was
something that NCLB brought in that

Effects Of Artificial Lighting On Sea Turtle Populations
Barbara Garrow
Effects of Artificial Lighting on Sea Turtle Populations
Abstract
Significant numbers of sea turtles from around the world nest on Florida beaches, although, the
human population of Florida happens to be extremely concentrated around coastal areas as well.
The development of coasts brings an increase in artificial light, which can be quite the problem for
nesting sea turtles. The development and increase in artificial light has contributed greatly to the
decline of populations in recent years (Conserve Sea Turtles). Artificial lightinghas a detrimental
effect on sea turtle reproduction in many different ways. For instance, lighting can cause the turtles
to avoid nesting in the area because they consider it bad habitat. Even if they decide to nest there,
there is still the chance that their nests may potentially fail (Salmon 2003). Nestlings will often
deter their emergence from the nest in the presence of artificial lighting (Salmon). If the nestlings
hatch, they begin the process of locating the ocean from the nest, called seafinding . This task is
accomplished mostly visually. An effect called hatchling disorientation occurs when hatchlings
become disoriented and wander the opposite direction and inland, which then often leads to them to
die of dehydration or predation (Witherington 2003). According to scientists, hatchlings have an
innate instinct that leads them in the brightest direction , which is usually moon light creating light

How Does Orwell Use Language In Animal Farm
In the book, 2 pigs, Napoleon and Snowball fight for absolute power on their farm. They follow
the ideals of animalism (adapted from Karl Marx s communism by Orwell) and use propaganda
tactics to overthrow Mr. Jones, the owner of the farm. Orwell uses Napoleon from the allegory to
show that language can be used as an instrument to abuse power.
You can see this on page 59/the first page of chapter XI when Napoleon has just added to the
required labor on the farm, making animals also work on Sundays when they previously hadn t.
The book says in August Napoleon announced that there would be work on Sunday afternoons as
well. This work was strictly voluntary, but any animal who absented himself from it would have his

the last two words had slipped out of the animals memory. They had slipped the animals memory
because they were never there to begin with. If you refer back to pages 24 and 25, the sixth
commandments read 6. No animal shall kill any other animal. meaning that when Muriel read the
sixth commandment on page 91, the commandments had been edited. This editing was most
likely done by Napoleon himself, or one of the other pigs because none of the other animals had
sentenced death or executions on any other animals, or killed another animal because they
remembered the original sixth commandment. This doesn t only happen on page 91, but also a bit
further back in the book. On page 67, Muriel is reading off another commandment. With some

Pueblo Revolt Research Paper
The Pueblo Revolt of 1680 is an important event in U.S. history having been the first complete
victory for Native Americans against any European nation. One of the major conflicts between the
Pueblo Indians and the Spanish colonists was their different religions. Many historians believe that
the Pueblo Indians revolted against the Spanish in order to eliminate Catholicism because it was
threatening their own beliefs. Many Spanish officials interpret the Pueblo Revolt as being
unnecessary and guided by the devil. The continuing study of this historical event will allow current
Pueblo villages to learn about their ancestors history and the major role religion had on the revolt.

Many of those documents, however, were destroyed during the Pueblo Revolt when the natives
burned down government buildings and records. However, previously to the Pueblo Revolt,
Spanish government officials had sent out reports which shed a light on the relations between
Spaniards and Pueblo Indians prior to the revolt. With new understanding of popular Indian beliefs,
historians are now able to adjust the one sided interpretations that European nations developed
when documenting their relationship with the natives. Historians who are well informed of
popular Indian beliefs, have interpreted the Pueblo Revolt was an act to reject Catholicism
because it was threatening their own culture. The Pueblo Revolt was an attempt to preserve the
kind of life which they thought the gods had ordained and which aliens were obviously destroying
(Weber, 1999, p. 227). The Pueblo Indians feared that the Spanish colonist would destroy all
aspects of their religion, like sacred texts and structures, which were indispensable and would be

My Reflection Of A Trip To The Courtroom
I went to the Lindsey Flanigan Courthouse on Friday August 25, 2017. Before the visit, I
expected the courthouse to look like the courthouses I have visited in New York or Atlanta.
Inside the courtroom was different than expected and the rooms were smaller, but I think that is
because it was only a docket. I have never sit in on a docket case, but I assumed the courtroom
etiquette would be the same as all other cases. I expected there to be silence in the gallery, with
some hushed whispers if conversation was necessary. In the case that I watched, other lawyers
were having full conversations in the first row of the gallery, right behind the prosecutor. I also
expected the prosecutor and defense to address the judge and question the witness from the
same general area, but the prosecutor spoke from a podium closer to the judge while the defense
spoke from a podium right next to his desk. The docket case that I watched was about felony
menacing. I was unsure what felony menacing was prior to visiting court that day, but as the
case progressed the definition became a little bit clearer. The key players in the case were the
judge, prosecutor, defense and defendant, and the key witness was the arresting officer. The
defendant was arrested because the police received a call about a driver on the road waving his
gun around threatening other drivers. One of the officers responding to the call stayed with the
victim, while the other went to look for the car described in the call. Following a hint, the arresting
officer found the car in a parking lot and pulled in behind it. Upon seeing the officer exit his car, the
defendant walked out of a business with his hands in the air, saying I didn t do it. The officer had
the defendant walk toward him with his hands still in the air; when the defendant was close enough,
the officer handcuffed him. After the defendant was handcuffed through questioning the officer
determined that the defendant had weapons in the car and had an altercation with the victim that
his partner was with. The defense made a motion to suppress some of the defendant s statements
because he believed they were made during an unlawful interrogation. The defense believed that

Employees maintain a display that showcases a picture and small biography of each fellow worker

Children Who Suffer With Learning Disabilities
Children who suffer with learning disabilities struggle with communicating not only at school, but
even within their very own family. The desired lifesaving cure may not exist yet, but with the help
of a community, a child can develop the imperative skills he or she desperately needs to become
literate. Literacy means to be able to participate in a society. It does not matter if someone s
languageis perfect without a grammatical error in sight or if their language is filled with
insufficient mistakes. All that matters is if a person is capable of understanding the other s main
concept. I recently learned this eye opening lesson about literacy from my three year old cousin
battling with a recent diagnosis of autism. I remember the day she was born. Everyone cheered
when it was announced that there was a beautiful baby girl being added to the family. We had all
been so anxious to find out because her parents had everyone suffering with them as they waited
nine long months for the big reveal. After waiting what felt like forever, April and Jacob finally
decided on a name. Our new family member was Blakely Ann Hickman. In that moment, we were
all bubbling with joy because we thought this baby was born without a scratch on her health
record. In our eyes, she was already perfect. However, two years passed and she still hadn t said her
first word. Ordinarily, babies start to at least attempt to talk somewhere between an advanced six

Public Green Spaces At The Mouth Of Mill Creek
[Introduction]
Cincinnati s riverfront is misused and neglected. Once the backbone of the city s economic
activity, much of it now lies vacant and abandoned. Scarred by the derelict remains of its industrial
past and cut off from the city by roads and railways, these sites are largely forgotten by the public
and show little signs of their untapped potential.
The landscape is in clear need of repair.
In some other locations, sections of the waterfront have been converted into riverfront parks. While
such public green spaces are an important factor in the success of a city, we should not be content
with merely building a standard park. Cities should use the elements given to them in their
landscape to create placemaking spaces unique to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality, there is no evidence of residential or recreational activities taking place in the area. In
some places the riverfront was used as a construction material dump site, with evidence of the waste
being burned on site.
Non commercial use is hampered by a lack of accessible and legal ways into the site. The site is
currently almost completely blocked off by railroads and raised roadways, with the exception of a
private road entrance on the east end, making trespassing required to access the riverfront. In
addition, the banks along the river are steep and highly susceptible to erosion. No access to the
water is possible with these conditions.
The site is completely within the flood zone and temporary flood protection only exists a fourth of
a mile beyond the site. The area along the river and mill creek is in the floodway, meaning even
minor flooding affects the area. The rest of the site is within the 100 year floodplain, meaning it
has annual flood probability of 1%.
[Proposal]
The landscape itself can serve as protection from flooding. By raising the elevation along the
riverfront, water is held back from the city. This can be done with a series of berms. When
looking at FEMA s flood maps we can see that already there are two natural exceptions to the
floodplain. On the site there are two existing berms excluded from the floodplain zone providing
protection to the area beyond them.
Innately, the landscape can be employed as

The Argument That The Internet Is Making Us Stupid
1.According to Carr, our current information technologies affect our general thinking processes by
making it harder to focus on tasks. Carr found that people who are constantly using technology have
a harder time retaining information. For example, in an experiment at a university, half of the
students in a lecture where instructed to use their laptops and the other half were instructed not to.
The group that used their laptops during the lecture scored lower on a test than the group that did
not use their laptop during the lecture. Trying to multitask between using technology and trying to
pay attention to a lecture show how technology negatively affects the way we think. 2.The division
of attention encouraged by the internet limits our concentration because the internet is filled with
distractions. The internet does not allow us to focus on one thing because while we can be doing
our homework on the internet we can, at the same time, use multiple social media outlets which
render our attention span. Limits on our concentration effect our thoughts, our memories, and even
our personalities. Research has found that our brains struggle with multitasking which leads to us
having difficulties understanding complex information because our brains are simply too busy
thinking about other things. 3.To support his argument that the internet is making us stupid, Carr
includes studies done on groups of people who use technology. One of the studies that Carr talks
about is how a

My Love For Photography Essay
Late elementary school afternoons at 2601 Parkside Drive were where my thirst for exploring
the world s clandestine beauties blossomed into something new. Whilst others engrossed
themselves in competitive foursquare and portable video games, I immersed myself in
sketching images of places I dreamt of visiting. All I needed was a pencil in my hand, a
picturesque landscape on my mind, and my Canson sketchbook on the table. The possibilities
were then endless. Slowly, the tabula rasa of this book filled to the brim with a lust to explore
and innovate. Inside, Vietnamese villages that I had once seen on the Internet were now laden
with sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. Iceland s greenery was now characterized by tropical
rainforests and towering skyscrapers. Venice s magnificent canals were now surrounded by great
expanses of icy mountain ranges. Over the years, as this lust diffused into every nook and cranny...

perspective diversity leaving shots overexposed, oversaturated, too wide and too narrow revealed
life in different lights. As a child, I placed my finger on the shutter release of my curiosity and
heard two simultaneous clicks, one for sketching and the other for photography. They changed me;
they caused the pitch black display of my individuality to fade into a beautiful mГ©lange of

Buddhism On Indian Society Essay
How Has Buddhism Influenced Indian Society, Education, and Political System?
Buddhism, which emerged in ancient India (The Kingdom of Magadha) has a substantial impact on
Indian social, educational and political life. Although Buddhism could not be a primary religion due
to the dominance of Hinduism, it still played a considerable role. Buddhism in India, was not
confined to only ritual, ethical or social practice ; it drove a new world view that involves different
perspectives of the life (Wickramasinghe, 2009, p. 24). Buddhism provided a nascent morality
framework bringing equality, justice, and prosperity to the society that was suffering from religious
manipulation. People, who were exhausted from unjust system emerged from doctrines of
Hinduism, willingly accepted Buddhism, which brought equality, education, and democracy to the
Indian society.
I.Equality
a.Social Dimension: In this paragraph, we will shed a light on the social effect of Buddhism in
India. Buddhism can be referred as a new outlook in ancient Indians life: it changed Vanna system,
which determined the society according to various grades (Banerjee, 2007, p. 5). During the revival
of Buddhism, the Indian society was divided into four groups, which were Khatiyya, Brahmana,

Buddhism, if science uncovers some facts against the teaching of Buddhism, Buddhism will adjust

The Value of Education Essay
The Value of Education
Learning and knowledge are highly prized in all societies, especially here in Ireland, where there
is a strong tradition of respect for education. The choices that individuals make when leaving
school, in particular whether to pursue higher education or not, are likely to have a long lasting
effect on their lifestyle. The main purposes for a University education involve: social, national and
educational purposes and for the individual personal purposes and moral development. These topics
will be addressed in the following paragraphs.

The advantage of widespread education is the cultivation of international skills and attitudes,
contributing to the values of university education.
This intermingling of cultures and social differences causes a change in the attitudes and
outlooks of society. The levelling up of living standards in our economy has created a greater
sense of human dignity and freedom replacing an earlier and traditional view of inferiority.
Opportunities for education, leading to promotion at work are richer and more varied. Universal
education has enhanced individuals view of the world and has created an awareness of the stream
of events in other parts of the world. Which up to 1900 was prerogative of perhaps one fifth of the
population. (K.G. Collier, 1959:33)
Not only does this diversity benefit social purposes but it also has certain national purposes.
National reforms in higher education were a result of Europe s ability to collect information from
these diverse Universities, and adapt to beneficial procedures. (Robbins report: 41) Consequently
this encouraged efficiency throughout the education system, due to high levels of mobility between
different European countries, and high standards were therefore demanded. These mutual
exchanges of solutions to higher education problems benefit Europe as a community and benefit

wove together in intricate patterns leaving a trail of light behind for the sun. The concoction of
colours slowly revealed the barren world filled with nothing but white snow, sprinkled on its

after you are done free falling. In the middle of the loop, you will feel air resistance and also
gravity pulling you down. After the loop, you will go up another hill but you will have some

Haiti s Healthcare System Essays
The story of Haiti s healthcare system is unfortunately tied all too closely to disaster, both man
made and nature born. This paper will briefly discuss the pre 2010 earthquake healthcare
environment in Haiti as the uncertainty that exists provides little opportunity to provide a reasoned
understanding of its current national healthcare status. As the most basic indicator of health, the
life expectancy from birth in Haiti based on estimates by the World Health Organization is
reported to be approximately fifty five (55) years (although there are a variety of competing
numbers provided by other sources). The infant mortality rate is approximately eight percent (8%)

In health care spending, Haiti ranks last in the western hemisphere, spending only US$83 per
capita annually on health care. An even more striking figure is that there are only 25 physicians
and 11 nurses per 100,000 population, although that number has been increasing recently due to an
influx of Cuban trained Haitian doctors (MEDICC). Even in the capital city of Port au Prince
medical care is limited with doctors and hospitals often requiring immediate cash payment for
health services. Compounding this lack of care, Haitians also lack clean drinking water and proper
sanitation systems. Less than half the population has access to clean drinking water, a rate that is
only surpassed by civil war torn African nations. Even worse, half the population of Haiti can be
categorized as food insecure, and this malnutrition has created a generation where half of all Haitian
children are undersized (IFRC, 2010). In addition, this poor sanitation and hygiene, coupled with
inadequate nutrition, have contributed to exceptionally high levels of individuals with chronic, yet
often at best ill treated, conditions. Obviously, the extreme lack of quality health care services
creates many opportunities for a much deeper review of the current health care system and its
overwhelming limitations. Hopefully

The Rise of a Mash-up Culture Essay
A great deal has been said about the move from physical media to a ubiquitous, digital culture.
Some decry the downfall of the vinyl record, falling compact disc sales, the cheapening and
degrading of an art form. I ll try to stay away from unverifiable judgements about the direction
modern culture is moving in. More interesting is the way musical creation is changing as a result of
new technologies, whether we like it or not. What comes to mind is hyperrealitywhat Jean
Baudrillardcalled the generation by models of a real without origin or reality (166). Digital
representations, originally intended to recreate the original sound waves of the music, are losing
their point of origin and becoming musical works on their own.... Show more content on

Its pointless to look for the original blueprint of a digital representation, because it s independent of
the hardware it s stored in, and meaningful only in the information it encodes. Hyperreality results
from a loss of distinction between the representations and the things they re intended to represent.
In our culture, the separation between a song and the digital file of a song is becoming trivial.
Computers allow information to be torn free of its original context, and reinterpreted upon retrieval.
Representation engines are the ideal enablers of hyperreality, giving almost limitless power to
reorder simulacra upon simulacra.
The internet takes the representational capacities of computers, and spreads them over a vast
symbolic network. Anyone with an internet connection instantly gains manipulative control over a
whole world of digital abstractions. These have the unique property of not being tied down to any
specific physical origin. It follows that they re infinitely recreatable, and intimately tied to their user
defined context. This decontextualization began, to a lesser extent, with the advent of audio
cassettes, allowing the creation of mix tapes. A mix tape lets the listener take small parts (usually
whole songs) from different physical source material (records), and combine them into a new
whole, consisting of copied parts. This process, known as dubbing, creates an experience that is, at
least in part, distinct from each

Effects Of Second Hand Vehicles In The Zimbabwean Economy
INTRODUCTION
The Zimbabwean economy is nose diving and experiencing huge cash shortages of the currency
in circulation ,this is being seen as the banks are now rationing the payments, giving each
individual about $100 per day and sometimes less or no cash , also money is now not easily
accessible from mobile bankers like eco cash, telecash and one wallet, this is being caused by the
imports which are outweighing the exports and among these imports there is the importation of
second hand cars which is seen to have dominated the imports of Zimbabwe. In 2013 between
January and November the Zimbabweans imported about 206 519 cars worth over $606 million
(ZIMSTATS,The Herald 23 April 2014).Thus the importation of second hand vehicles is worsening
the trade deficit that is already unfavorable as in 2013 the budget deficit stood at
$3billion(ZIMSTAT).
Willowvale Mazda Motor Industry s production slumped from 18 000 vehicles per year in 1997
to below 4 000 vehicles and stopped producing in 2012 (Zimbabwe Independent 22 May 2015),this
was mainly due to the importation of second hand vehicles by the Zimbabweans as they were less
costly and complied with their budgets, the other players such as Quest motors and Croco motors in
the automobile sector are being affected in the same manner leading to unemployment due to low
capacity utilization in these companies as the demand new vehicles was estimated to be 25
000(Zimbabwe Independent 22 May 2015).

Absolutism In King Louis Xiv s The Palace Of Versailles
The Palace of Versailles is one of the most infamous works of European architecture known to
man throughout history. Brought to life by King Louis XIV, otherwise known as the Sun King,
his reign of absolutism directly affected the architecture and design of the Palace, turning it into a
lasting symbol for absolutism. Louis XIV had the longest reign in European history, ruling from
1643 to 1715 for a total of 72 years. He was born on September 5th, 1638, succeeding his father on
the throne at the age of four. Because he was too young to rule Francehimself, his mother, Anne of
Austria, became regent and ruled in his place. During his mother s rule, the noble and judges of the
parliament of Paris launched a civil war revolt known as the Fronde... Show more content on

A direct quote from Louis XIV himself illustrates the induction of the new political institution: Up
to this moment I have been pleased to entrust the government of my affairs to the late Cardinal. It
is now time that I govern them myself. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism, Steingrad) He began his rule in
1661 at the age of 23. Many feared that Louis XIV was a bit too immature to assume the throne,
including his mother, but he took his role as an absolute monarch quite seriously, bordering on
excessively. Rather than rely on high nobility and princes, Louis called on ministers from nobles of
newer aristocratic families. If any one were to step out of line, Louis had them arrested and
imprisoned. For example, when his minister of finances, Nicholas Fouquet, began to boast about his
authority and wealth, Fouquet was immediately incarcerated. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism, Steingrad)
Religion was another source of tension. Louis XIV did not want Protestants practicing their faith in
Catholic France. His motto in regards to religion was one king, one law, one faith, encapsulating the
ideals of absolutism. He believed that the existence of the Protestants undermined his authority, and
began attempting to entice them to conversion by offering rewards. Eventually, he moved to
forced conversions. Louis XIV was a proponent of Gallicanism, which is the belief that the
monarchy held certain rights over the Catholic Church, regardless of the papal powers. Pope
Innocent XI denounced King Louis XIV and in response, Louis ordered the French clergy to
establish the Declaration of Gallican Liberties. The document maintained that the pope s authority
was limited to spiritual matters and that even in spiritual matters, the pope was subject to the
decisions of a general council. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism, Steingrad) This caused a large amount of
tension between the king and church, to the point where a split was possible. However,

Two Ways a Woman Can Get Hurt , an article by Jean Kilbourne bitterly rags on sex in

likely to sell sex in advertisements for products that, in reality, are entirely unrelated. Kilbourne
focuses primarily on how this is harmful to society especially women and children and how they
are viewed by men, though men may also be targeted if not nearly as frequently. In a similar article
called Taking a Bite Out of Twilight, Carmen D. Siering shares her disapproval of the popular
novel adored by so many: Twilight. Represented by the iconic red apple held in a women s palm
with a sinister black backdrop, Twilight is a modern fairytale where the prince belongs to a
monstrous society of blood sucking models, and the princess is your average, plain Jane

Bella is objectified and downgraded in the Twilight series; a character created solely to
compliment the plot propelled by male characters. Where the majority of the population sees an
aching, beautiful and dangerous romance, Siering sees a controlling relationship and a dull female
lead. Kilbourne s article brings to light how Siering s article, directed at Stephenie Meyers readers,
is so accurate with the the recommendation that everyone become more aware of the messages

Michigan University Of Michigan Football Team
The title says it all. The University of Michigan Football Team has been transformed into a
monster from the start of the Harbaugh Era. Before Jim Harbaugh took over as head coach
Michigan suffered a devastating 5 7 season and missed a bowl game under Brady Hoke. The team
is now on the up rise. Even though the statement may offend some, it is true. There are those critics
that firmly disagree because of the big plays the defense sometimes allows, an inexperienced
quarterbackand weak schedule. Despite their few flaws, Michigan has a championship caliber team
capable of monumental wins because of their; prodigious coaching staff, unmatched defensive line,
a developing quarterback, improved offense, and the man himself, Jabrill Peppers.... Show more

The staff combines to have an impressive thirty two years of experience in the NFL. (Kenyon
1). Many coaches have also worked with head coach Harbaugh in his past coaching gigs, which
includes his own son. Michigan has a plethora of notable names to their coaches roster. Names
like Jedd Fisch, Tyrone Wheatley, Jay Harbaugh, Michael Zordich, Brian Smith and new coach
Don Brown to name a few. Brown coached the number one defense in the nation last year at
Boston College. He along with the other remarkable coaches has put together a defense that is
unmatched anywhere in the nation. The Michigan defense so far this year has been nothing short
of superb. In their first six games, the defense only allowed two rushing touchdowns and less than
one hundred total rushing yards a game. (Brouwer 1). Outstanding. As sports reviewer Chris
Peterson proclaims in his review for gbmwolevrine.com, [...] when you dive deep into the numbers,
[it is] hard not to call Michigan football s defense the best in the country (3). With their great plays
on defense frustrating opposing offenses game after game, Michigan has definitely rebuilt their
defense. The defense is one of the main reasons why the team is national championship worthy.
Another area that the team is working on is developing their fresh quarterback. Junior Wilton
Speight leads Michigan s offense this year, taking over the quarterback position for Jake Rudock.

Active listening, thinking, and speaking are skills that help the doctor to discern the problems
that the patient is undergoing (Occupation Profile 1). The cardiologist needs to be able to be
competent in complex problem solving and comprehension because information about patients
symptoms are relayed to the doctor by an assistant. Reasoning, dexterity, near vision, and
sensitivity are all examples of some of the abilities that are beneficial to cardiologists
(Occupation 3). Many patients are fearful of the future (Field 11). It is crucial that cardiologists
are compassionate and caring people that are able to communicate well with others. Some
patients survive, but some do not. Cardiologists are intrusted with the responsibility to tell the
family members that a patient has died, which is a truly arduous job. Emotional stability and
stamina are necessary when working long hours (Field 11). There is a possibility that one would
have to work a full eight hours or longer. One could also be called on at any time for a variety of
emergencies (Field 11). Cardiologists have many duties throughout the day at the hospital. They
have to examine patients, obtain medical orders, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests,
prescribe treatment, and conduct treatment procedures (Encyclopedia 589). Cardiologists have

The Ethical Standing On The Delivery System Of The United...
Environmental Footprint of Mail Distribution Most of us don t consider how our mail is
transported each and every day and the impact it has on our environment. Thousands of letters are
shipped out daily, but what steps do these messages take in order to arrive in our mailboxes? This
mail delivering process uses mailtrucks to carry our letters. Can the vehicles we use to transport our
mail have a negative impact on our environment, and if so are there any programs in place to help
reduce this impact? In this paper I will discuss the ethical standing on the delivery system of the
United States Postal Service. I will research the statistics of their vehicles pollution rates and what
it takes to use these services. In this paper I will uncover the current circumstances of postal
transportation vehicles and discuss ways to improve these methods. In this paper you will come to
a greater understanding of the environmental footprint of the distribution of our letters. You will
recognize the emissions produced through this transportation. I will present the solutions in
progress to help reduce the amount of pollution from these mail delivery vehicles. The United
States Postal Service has put green policies in place. Not only have they been working to reduce
fuel emissions and pollution through their new trucks, they have begun using recyclable stamps to
conserve the environment. They have been working to establish a more ethical supply chain. Folks

The Hepatitis C Virus
Acute viral hepatitis is the most common form of infectious hepatitis. There are five distinct viruses
types A, B, C, D, and E. Diagnostic markers of viral hepatitis include elevation of aspartate
aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, gammaglutamyl transferase, white blood cell count,
and prothrombin time.
Hepatitis C is an infectious disease that primarily affects the liver, caused by the Hepatitis C virus
(HCV).
The cause of HCV, is a spherical, enveloped, single stranded RNA virus belonging to the
Flaviviridae family and Flavivirus genus. The natural targets of HCV are hepatocytes and,
possibly, B lymphocytes. Lauer and Walker reported that HCV is closely related to hepatitis G.
HCV can produce at least 10 trillion new viral particles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lichen Planus
Lichen Planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory cutaneous disease that frequently involves oral
mucosa. Common symptoms are oral pain or a burning sensation, especially with acidic or spicy
foods. Symptoms are often irrespective of the clinical presentation. There is evidence of an
association between HCV and Oral Lichen Planus (OLP); however, this varies by region and
further studies are needed to fully confirm the relationship.
Diagnosis of OLP should involve a referral to a trained clinician in oral medicine or maxillofacial
surgery. The principles behind treatment of OLP are symptom management, immune modulation,
monitoring and education. Treatment of OLP is usually reserved for disease that is symptomatic.
Topical corticosteroids are normally the main choice of treatment for OLP.

Human Immune Suppression Of The Host
Abstract
Cancer is associated with global immune suppression of the host. The human immune system
fights the pathogens and harmful antigens that may invade the body. However, this is not always
the case as there are autoimmune diseases which turn the body against itself. The cell surface
coreceptor cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen 4 (CTLA 4) has emerged as a critical attenuator of T
cell activation and an essential component of the regulatory systems that serve to maintain
peripheral tolerance. CTLA 4 expression is induced on the surface of T cells after they have
received a costimulatory signal from antigen presenting cells (APCs) via engagement of CD28 on
the T cell surface. In addition, Cytotoxic T Lymphocytes antigen 4 is protein that is... Show more

In the battle against cancer, there are three critical components. Prevention, early diagnosis and
treatment. Oncology incorporates these three elements to ensure that they can detect and be one
step ahead in this fight. Cancer is associated with the immune suppression of the host. CTLA
4(cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated protein 4) also known as CD152 (cluster of differentiation
152), is a protein receptor that functioning as an immune checkpoint, ward off the immune system.
CTLA 4 ensure that the T cells are not able to recognize and eliminate foreign antigens and thus,
most often tumour cells can evade immune recognition and destruction (Oudard, 2013). The study
will focus on the role of hematology and oncology in CTLA treatment, the role of CTLA treatment
in graft survival and its role in autoimmune diseases. Structure of CTLA 4
Goals of the study
There are several goals of this study. First is to understand how hematology and oncology can be
used to combat the effect of CTLA 4. Second, to illustrate the role of CTLA treatment on auto
immune diseases. Third, to understand the role of CTLA treatment on graft survival.
Important methods used
The method used to carry out this study was the collection of data from secondary sources. These
includes web sites, books, and journal articles. The data obtained was then precisely compiled to
come up with this presentation.

The Importance of the Electoral College Essay
The Importance of the Electoral College
Though our founding fathers created the Electoral College over 200 years ago, it has been changed
with time to accommodate modern needs and is still an important and necessary part of our
electoral system. The Electoral College ensures political stability in our nation by encouraging the
two party system and also protects the interests of minorities. Furthermore, the Electoral College
helps maintain a united country by requiring widespread popular support of a candidate in order
for him or her to become president.
The Electoral College was first introduced to America at the Constitutional Convention of 1787,

According to the first draft of the Constitution, electors voted for two presidents, at least one of
which was from a different state than the elector was representing. Whichever candidate received
the most votes would become president and the runner up would be vice president. This method
worked for several years until, in 1800, the unforeseen effect of political parties resulted in a tie for
the presidency between Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson, both of the same party. The resulting
dispute over who the president would be led to the 12th Amendment to the Constitution.
The 12th Amendment changed the rules of the electoral process by having electors make
separate votes for president and vice president. It goes on to say that if no candidate wins a
majority of electoral votes, the House of Representatives would select a president from the top
three candidates. The Amendment also stipulates that the Senate would choose a vice president
from the top two candidates in the event of a tie for that office. This second design of the
Electoral College provides for the workings of a two party system in America and is still in effect
today.
From their vast knowledge of history, the American Founding Fathersknew that unlimited political
power cannot safely be trusted to anyone not to appointed officials of government, not to elected
representatives of the people, not to the people themselves, says

Moving To A New Country
Moving to a new country, state, or home can be very rough at times, but also very rewarding at
the same time. Even though people move all the time it can still be scary and nerve racking.
People can move for many different reasons, sometimes by choice, and sometimes because they
are forced too. However, people mostly move because of hard times, new opportunities, or they are
newlywed couple searching for a new start and a place to raise a family. Whatever the cause of
moving, people will soon either hate or love the effects that will become upon them. Rough
times fall on everyone, no exceptions. My family fell on really hard times back in the day but
we learned from it and moved on. Some people are able to handle the hard times while others
cannot. The people that can t withstand the hard times are usually forced to move to a cheaper
place or evicted with nowhere to go. These people lose everything they have because they simply
can t afford the rent or the mortgage. Entire families are forced to leave their homes with just what
they can carry in their arms. This could majorly affect not only the parents, but also... Show more

country, or a very dangerous situation can affect a person for the rest of their lives. Getting a

The Life of Carl Friedrich Gauss
Mathematicians have always formed a very important role in history. From the Greeks to the
modern era, mathematicians have made spectacular discoveries and critical contributions to the
world of mathematics. Because of great mathematicians, the human race is exploring and
discovering unknown boundaries of space and technology. The life of Carl Friedrich Gausswas full
of phenomenal adventures and discoveries. He was born in Brunswick, Germany on April 30th,
1777 to poor working class parents. Gauss father was known as a hard worker and an honest
man but heavily discouraged Gauss from attending school to follow a family trade. On the other
hand, Gauss mother and uncle recognized his remarkable intelligence at an early age. Gauss
intelligence was so powerful that one day at the age ten solved the problem that his arithmetic
instructor gave him with one number, 5,050. The simple math problem for Gauss was to write
all whole numbers between one and 100 and add up their sum. Furthermore, he first went to
college at the age of fourteen and was financially sustained by Carl Wilhelm Ferdinand who was
the Duke of Brunswick. While studying language at Caroline College, he discovered that a regular
polygon with seventeen sides could be drawn with a compass and a straight edge. He was so
impressed with his discovery that he turned to study mathematics. Mathematics composed a vital

The Importance Of Deaf Education
Whether someone responds to a person knocking on a door, a car honking down the street, or
speakers blasting loud music, our hearing plays a significant role in providing us with vital
information. Hence, hearing is an important sense, and the significance of hearing often goes
underappreciated until it is no longer available (Saint Joseph s University, 2017). In spite of
that, research proves that children who experience hearing loss must have opportunities to enjoy
a quality of life that does not remind them of their disabilities, but experience a quality of life
that makes necessary modifications to augment their abilities. It is fair to state that Deaf
education evolved over a course of centuries, with Pedro Ponce de Leon making history as a
pioneer teacher for students who were deaf. As a 16th century Spanish monk, Ponce de Leon
received recognition for revolutionizing the education of children by creating one of the original
manual alphabets (Saint Joseph s University, 2017) for speaking and fingerspelling. Concurrently,
Geronimo Cardano joined the movement for Deaf education in 1550 by disclosing that hearing
loss should not deny people opportunities to learn (Saint Joseph s University, 2017). With
significant gains from Ponce de Leon s innovative system for communication, along with Cardano
s experience as a father of a son who had a hearing disability, both individuals established
themselves as credible sources proving that children are capable of learning by

Origin And History Of Dance
Origin and History of Dance
The archaeological evidence for early dance includes 9,000 year old paintings found in India at the
Rock Shelters of Bhimbetka, and Egyptian tomb paintings depicting dancing figures, dated 3300
BC. Before the invention of written languages, dance was the one of the most important method of
passing stories down from generation to generation. The use of dance in ecstatic (ubjective
experience of total involvement of the subject) or altered state of mind and healing rituals, as today
in many cultures from the Brazilian rainforest to the Kalahari Desert, is thought to have been
another early factor. Greek dance (horos) is referred to by Plato, Aristotle, Plutarch and Lucian.
The Bible and Talmud refer to many events related to dance, and contain over 30 different dance
terms.
During the first millennium in India, many texts were composed which attempted to codify
aspects of daily life. Bharata Muni s Natyashastra (literally the text of dramaturgy ) is one of the
earlier texts. It mainly deals with drama, in which dance plays an important part in Indian culture.
It categorises dance into four types secular, ritual, abstract, and, interpretive and into four regional
varieties. The text elaborates various hand gestures (mudras) and classifies movements of the
various limbs, steps and so on. From these beginnings rose the various classical styles recognised
today. Many contemporary dance forms can be traced back to historical, traditional,

Analysis Of The Wedding At Cana
The artwork by Paolo Veronese were known for being created on large platforms and were
centered on religious topics. One notable works of his was The Wedding at Cana. This piece is a
depiction of Jesus first miracle as he turned water into wine for a wedding celebration. Based in
Venice, Veronese s life was heavily influenced by the Christian culture and was esteemed by the
community and church officials for his artistic abilities. As Veronese painted in the Mannerist
style, The Wedding at Cana was an asymmetrical painting with elegant principles. Also, Veronese
heavily used vibrant colors to show the richness of the subjects and to create light. This painting
has lived through several interesting eras and owners. Wars and political overlords dominated the
geography of this painting and even damaged the canvas. Since Veronese s style and talents were
sought after, his work, religious and secular, was mostly commissioned by patrons of the Venetian
community. Veronese was a painter fond of the Mannerist style in the High Renaissance era. As he
aged, art and religion were important aspects of Veronese s life. He fully embraced the traditions
and regulations of his God and was even commissioned because of his talent and devotion to the
church. While a teenager, many church officials in his area asked Veronese to paint important
works of art in their churches. The Giustiniania family esteemed Veronese so highly that they
wanted him to paint inside of their Roman Catholic

Before his was the Governor he was elected to the Illinois House of Representative in 1992 and then won the US House Seat for Illinois in 1996. All of this was nice for the ascetic view of his political resume, but behind the veil he was a devious, cynical, crass and corrupt politician . He wouldn t for anything to get what he wanted and the people that he wanted in the seats around him. This view began all the way back in 1992 and it only picked up speed from there. In 2008, he was impeached by the House of Representatives 114 1 and by the Senate 59 0, this was the first time in Illinois State history... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Creativity And The Mad Genius Creativity and the Mad Genius On July 2, 1961, Ernest Hemingway put a gun to his head. Seventy one years earlier, on July 29, 1890, Vincent van Gogh shot himself in the abdomen while painting a wheat field. Robin Williams hung himself on August 24, 2014, less than two centuries after Vincent van Gogh. Along with Ludwig von Beethoven, who died of natural causes in 1827, four of the greatest creative minds each suffered from bipolar disorder, depression, or epilepsy, usually suffering from other physical ailments as well. Ernest Hemingway was the only one to seem to have a genetic disposition towards mental illness. None of these men led similar lives. Van Gogh only saw one of his paintings sold, while Beethoven was an acclaimed composer by the age of twenty nine. Hemingway was friends with some of the greatest literary minds of the day, and Robin Williams was one of the most successful comedians to date. The common link, besides their mental illnesses, is the idea that each of these men were searching for something more within their respective arts. Four fields of fine arts that require the constant creation of something new claimed the lives of four men who gave it all they had, some losing, and some finding themselves along the way. Over the past sixty years, facts about depression and the reality of it have come to light; however, there are still negative stigmas concerning the mental illness and how people ought to endure through the pain. Despite these negative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Literacy In Health Care When I was younger, doctor s offices were a big part of my life. One appointment, I walked into the office, of course with my mother because of my father s low attention span, and chose the seat that had the fewest people surrounding it. My mom grabbed a magazine and we would discuss what was going on in the news, or in our lives. I could hear my heart beating up until the nurse called my name, so I did not listen to much of what my mother was talking about. I would just stare at the pale brown walls, and wish I could just disappear in the lifelessness of it all. I always felt a rush as the nurse called my name. I would walk over and the nurse would begin to make small talk, which I was never interested in having. I just wanted to get out of there. Each time I knew I was going to hear something I didn t want to. Whether I had to start a new medication, or have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to understand a diagnosis, you need to know what is actually being said to you. Part of this understanding is knowing the severity of your condition. Whether you will be needing to simply take a pill, or if you will be dying within the next few months and there is nothing you can do. All of this can be overwhelming, but somehow our literacy allows us to take in the information and understand it. Sometimes, it feels as if literacy is something we don t understand; however, for most of us it just comes naturally. Growing up, I was always at higher reading levels than my classmates, and was able to write very well. When it came to basic literacy, I was golden. But I had to understand a higher level of literacy, something that would change my life forever. I had a challenge to face that no one else my age had to deal with. Because of the medical condition I was born with, I had to understand literacy on an entirely different level. I had been born with insulin resistance and the doctors were always explaining what this meant, and I had to understand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Tamil Nadu state government s decision to release the convicts in India s former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi s assassination case caused a ripple across the nation. The Tamil Nadu cabinet on February 19, 2014 declared that they will release all the convicts with due consultations with the centre. The state chief minister J Jayalalithaa in her statement informed The cabinet has taken a decision to release the three convicts, Perarivalan, Murugan and Santhan, along with those four, Nalini, Robert Pyas, Jayakumar and Ravichandran who are undergoing life sentence. The decision will be conveyed to the Centre for appropriate action. If we don t get their response in three days, we will release all convicts in accordance with the rights granted under the Code of Criminal Procedure. The state government s decision came a day after the Supreme Court commuted death sentences on three men involved in the assassination to life imprisonment citing the 11 year delay in deciding their mercy pleas. The Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice P Sathasivam and comprising of Justices Ranjan Gogoi and S K Singh then left the decision of remission for the three convicts Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan on the Tamil Nadustate government. • 10. Defective Bacteria Experiment Discussion and Conclusion: The original plates were swabbed with defective bacteria that did not grow to show sufficient, so new plates were made in replacement and the following results and conclusions are based off of observations from the new plates. The hypothesis stated earlier was rejected by this experiment because in the hypothesis rubbing alcohol was predicted to have the largest zone of inhibition, but according to the class and overall average, Betadine has the largest zone of inhibition diameter at 42.2 mm for the class average and 39.6 mm for the overall average. As shown in the graph and table, the largest diameter lengths in order from least to greatest was Betadine with a class average of 42.2 mm and an overall average of 39.6... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As stated in the introduction Betadine contains iodine which, through iodination, can quickly kill the cells, whereas rubbing alcohol has to dehydrate the cell which takes longer than the Betadine, thus explaining the result because of the ability of Betadine to kill more bacteria in a less amount of time. Group 4 s was similar to all the other group except for rubbing alcohol, which was 28.5 compared to the class overage of 20.6. The group that had the closest result was Group 5, who got 27.0 mm. For rubbing alcohol, the zone of inhibition was an ellipse, so the group decided to take the average of the longest and shorted diameters; therefore, two possible sources of error could have been either in the measuring itself, or in the calculation of the average. Taking the ideas from this experiment, some other tests could be proposed to investigate the topic further. One experiment could be trying new products that have the same active ingredient. The results would show whether the active ingredient has the largest effect or if the bacterial growth is mainly affected by the combination of ingredients in a certain product. Another experiment could be changing the bacteria. This experiment would reveal if the products are more effective on a certain type of bacteria or if Betadine is the effective ... • 11. Slavery Is The Key For Achieving Freedom In today s society, we take many things for granted because they come easy to us. Education, in many of our lives, is something that is dreaded, something that we do only because we have to. But 200 years ago, things were much different. Slavery unfortunately existed in our society, and slaves weren t granted the gift of education. By not having an education, they were not able to completely understand their situation, and therefore unable to get out of it. Slaves had a limited option in achieving freedom, and in order to do so, they had to become educated, enough to be able to understand slavery, and they had to be religious to be able to see through the hypocrisy of the religious slaveholders. For slaves, education is the key to achieving freedom. It develops one s sense of curiosity, and allows the mind to question things, and to develop it s own ideas and opinions. For slaves, the gift of education was rare, but if one was lucky enough to have it, they began to see the true nature of slavery, and it made them more likely to try and become free. When Frederick Douglass was a young boy, he befriended a few white children who gave him a glimpse of what having an education is like. When remembering this important time in his life, he says, With their kindly aid, at different times and different places, I finally succeeded in learning to read (66 67). The young boys gave Douglass a book, called the Columbian Orator, the first book he had ever laid hands on. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Increasing life expectancy has resulted in a significant increase in the number of older patients being referred for consideration of an aortic valve replacement. Although surgical aortic valve replacement (AVR), or open heartsurgery, remains the best type of treatment for symptomatic severe aortic stenosis, other treatment options include: Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI); balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAV); medical therapy. The aim of this experiment was to ensure that the patient understands that a decision will be reached that will reflect the specialist team s views as to the best interests of the individual patient (Frame 2015). In regards to the age of the patients receiving a TAVI procedure, in general the patients are elderly. Several of the studies I read listed the mean age of their patients as 79 +/ 9 years (Ye et al 2015) (Cordoba Soriano et al 2015). However, the age of the patient does not always have a lot to do with the result of the procedure. Feasibility and good early outcomes associated with transcatheter aortic and mitral valve in valve (VinV) implantation into failed surgical bioprostheses have been confirmed, but the mid term and long term outcomes are unknown (Ye et al 2015). In order to improve education in America, we have to go to the root of our problem in the school system and find better ways to enforce new rules and regulations that wouldn t be detrimental to both students, schools, and educators alike. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act is having a negative effect on our educationsystem because it reduces the choices of schools for parents, and the distribution of qualified teachers. It also has a negative impact on the amount that kids are able to learn in school. The NCLB was signed into law in 2001 by President George W. Bush. The act is was meant to give assistance in establishing good reading and math programs. Programs such as reading first funded at $1.02 billion in 2004 were made to help states and their districts set up scientific, research based reading programs for students in K 3 grades by having districts compete for federal money (Editorial Projects in Education Research Center 8). Billions of dollars had been put towards programs like reading first but much of that said money has either been cut or never reach the set target goal of promised money. • 15. Effects Of Artificial Lighting On Sea Turtle Populations Barbara Garrow Effects of Artificial Lighting on Sea Turtle Populations Abstract Significant numbers of sea turtles from around the world nest on Florida beaches, although, the human population of Florida happens to be extremely concentrated around coastal areas as well. The development of coasts brings an increase in artificial light, which can be quite the problem for nesting sea turtles. The development and increase in artificial light has contributed greatly to the decline of populations in recent years (Conserve Sea Turtles). Artificial lightinghas a detrimental effect on sea turtle reproduction in many different ways. For instance, lighting can cause the turtles to avoid nesting in the area because they consider it bad habitat. Even if they decide to nest there, there is still the chance that their nests may potentially fail (Salmon 2003). Nestlings will often deter their emergence from the nest in the presence of artificial lighting (Salmon). If the nestlings hatch, they begin the process of locating the ocean from the nest, called seafinding . This task is accomplished mostly visually. An effect called hatchling disorientation occurs when hatchlings become disoriented and wander the opposite direction and inland, which then often leads to them to die of dehydration or predation (Witherington 2003). According to scientists, hatchlings have an innate instinct that leads them in the brightest direction , which is usually moon light creating light by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Orwell uses Napoleon from the allegory to show that language can be used as an instrument to abuse power. You can see this on page 59/the first page of chapter XI when Napoleon has just added to the required labor on the farm, making animals also work on Sundays when they previously hadn t. • 18. My Reflection Of A Trip To The Courtroom I went to the Lindsey Flanigan Courthouse on Friday August 25, 2017. Before the visit, I expected the courthouse to look like the courthouses I have visited in New York or Atlanta. Inside the courtroom was different than expected and the rooms were smaller, but I think that is because it was only a docket. I have never sit in on a docket case, but I assumed the courtroom etiquette would be the same as all other cases. I expected there to be silence in the gallery, with some hushed whispers if conversation was necessary. In the case that I watched, other lawyers were having full conversations in the first row of the gallery, right behind the prosecutor. I also expected the prosecutor and defense to address the judge and question the witness from the same general area, but the prosecutor spoke from a podium closer to the judge while the defense spoke from a podium right next to his desk. The docket case that I watched was about felony menacing. I was unsure what felony menacing was prior to visiting court that day, but as the case progressed the definition became a little bit clearer. The key players in the case were the judge, prosecutor, defense and defendant, and the key witness was the arresting officer. The defendant was arrested because the police received a call about a driver on the road waving his gun around threatening other drivers. One of the officers responding to the call stayed with the victim, while the other went to look for the car described in the call. Following a hint, the arresting officer found the car in a parking lot and pulled in behind it. Upon seeing the officer exit his car, the defendant walked out of a business with his hands in the air, saying I didn t do it. The officer had the defendant walk toward him with his hands still in the air; when the defendant was close enough, the officer handcuffed him. After the defendant was handcuffed through questioning the officer determined that the defendant had weapons in the car and had an altercation with the victim that his partner was with. Literacy means to be able to participate in a society. It does not matter if someone s languageis perfect without a grammatical error in sight or if their language is filled with insufficient mistakes. All that matters is if a person is capable of understanding the other s main concept. The landscape is in clear need of repair. In some other locations, sections of the waterfront have been converted into riverfront parks. In some places the riverfront was used as a construction material dump site, with evidence of the waste being burned on site. Non commercial use is hampered by a lack of accessible and legal ways into the site. The site is currently almost completely blocked off by railroads and raised roadways, with the exception of a private road entrance on the east end, making trespassing required to access the riverfront. In addition, the banks along the river are steep and highly susceptible to erosion. No access to the water is possible with these conditions. The site is completely within the flood zone and temporary flood protection only exists a fourth of a mile beyond the site. The area along the river and mill creek is in the floodway, meaning even minor flooding affects the area. The rest of the site is within the 100 year floodplain, meaning it has annual flood probability of 1%. [Proposal] The landscape itself can serve as protection from flooding. By raising the elevation along the riverfront, water is held back from the city. This can be done with a series of berms. • 22. The Argument That The Internet Is Making Us Stupid 1.According to Carr, our current information technologies affect our general thinking processes by making it harder to focus on tasks. Carr found that people who are constantly using technology have a harder time retaining information. For example, in an experiment at a university, half of the students in a lecture where instructed to use their laptops and the other half were instructed not to. The group that used their laptops during the lecture scored lower on a test than the group that did not use their laptop during the lecture. Trying to multitask between using technology and trying to pay attention to a lecture show how technology negatively affects the way we think. 2.The division of attention encouraged by the internet limits our concentration because the internet is filled with distractions. The internet does not allow us to focus on one thing because while we can be doing our homework on the internet we can, at the same time, use multiple social media outlets which render our attention span. Limits on our concentration effect our thoughts, our memories, and even our personalities. Research has found that our brains struggle with multitasking which leads to us having difficulties understanding complex information because our brains are simply too busy thinking about other things. 3.To support his argument that the internet is making us stupid, Carr includes studies done on groups of people who use technology. Even in the capital city of Port au Prince medical care is limited with doctors and hospitals often requiring immediate cash payment for health services. Compounding this lack of care, Haitians also lack clean drinking water and proper sanitation systems. Less than half the population has access to clean drinking water, a rate that is only surpassed by civil war torn African nations. Even worse, half the population of Haiti can be categorized as food insecure, and this malnutrition has created a generation where half of all Haitian children are undersized (IFRC, 2010). What comes to mind is hyperrealitywhat Jean Baudrillardcalled the generation by models of a real without origin or reality (166). Digital representations, originally intended to recreate the original sound waves of the music, are losing their point of origin and becoming musical works on their own.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its pointless to look for the original blueprint of a digital representation, because it s independent of the hardware it s stored in, and meaningful only in the information it encodes. Hyperreality results from a loss of distinction between the representations and the things they re intended to represent. In our culture, the separation between a song and the digital file of a song is becoming trivial. Computers allow information to be torn free of its original context, and reinterpreted upon retrieval. Representation engines are the ideal enablers of hyperreality, giving almost limitless power to reorder simulacra upon simulacra. The internet takes the representational capacities of computers, and spreads them over a vast symbolic network. Anyone with an internet connection instantly gains manipulative control over a whole world of digital abstractions. These have the unique property of not being tied down to any specific physical origin. It follows that they re infinitely recreatable, and intimately tied to their user defined context. This decontextualization began, to a lesser extent, with the advent of audio cassettes, allowing the creation of mix tapes. A mix tape lets the listener take small parts (usually whole songs) from different physical source material (records), and combine them into a new whole, consisting of copied parts. This process, known as dubbing, creates an experience that is, at least in part, distinct from each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Effects Of Second Hand Vehicles In The Zimbabwean Economy INTRODUCTION The Zimbabwean economy is nose diving and experiencing huge cash shortages of the currency in circulation ,this is being seen as the banks are now rationing the payments, giving each individual about $100 per day and sometimes less or no cash , also money is now not easily accessible from mobile bankers like eco cash, telecash and one wallet, this is being caused by the imports which are outweighing the exports and among these imports there is the importation of second hand cars which is seen to have dominated the imports of Zimbabwe. In 2013 between January and November the Zimbabweans imported about 206 519 cars worth over $606 million (ZIMSTATS,The Herald 23 April 2014).Thus the importation of second hand vehicles is worsening the trade deficit that is already unfavorable as in 2013 the budget deficit stood at $3billion(ZIMSTAT). Willowvale Mazda Motor Industry s production slumped from 18 000 vehicles per year in 1997 to below 4 000 vehicles and stopped producing in 2012 (Zimbabwe Independent 22 May 2015),this was mainly due to the importation of second hand vehicles by the Zimbabweans as they were less costly and complied with their budgets, the other players such as Quest motors and Croco motors in the automobile sector are being affected in the same manner leading to unemployment due to low capacity utilization in these companies as the demand new vehicles was estimated to be 25 000(Zimbabwe Independent 22 May 2015). Brought to life by King Louis XIV, otherwise known as the Sun King, his reign of absolutism directly affected the architecture and design of the Palace, turning it into a lasting symbol for absolutism. Louis XIV had the longest reign in European history, ruling from 1643 to 1715 for a total of 72 years. He was born on September 5th, 1638, succeeding his father on the throne at the age of four. Because he was too young to rule Francehimself, his mother, Anne of Austria, became regent and ruled in his place. A direct quote from Louis XIV himself illustrates the induction of the new political institution: Up to this moment I have been pleased to entrust the government of my affairs to the late Cardinal. It is now time that I govern them myself. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism, Steingrad) He began his rule in 1661 at the age of 23. Many feared that Louis XIV was a bit too immature to assume the throne, including his mother, but he took his role as an absolute monarch quite seriously, bordering on excessively. Rather than rely on high nobility and princes, Louis called on ministers from nobles of newer aristocratic families. If any one were to step out of line, Louis had them arrested and imprisoned. For example, when his minister of finances, Nicholas Fouquet, began to boast about his authority and wealth, Fouquet was immediately incarcerated. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism, Steingrad) Religion was another source of tension. Louis XIV did not want Protestants practicing their faith in Catholic France. His motto in regards to religion was one king, one law, one faith, encapsulating the ideals of absolutism. He believed that the existence of the Protestants undermined his authority, and began attempting to entice them to conversion by offering rewards. Eventually, he moved to forced conversions. Louis XIV was a proponent of Gallicanism, which is the belief that the monarchy held certain rights over the Catholic Church, regardless of the papal powers. Pope Innocent XI denounced King Louis XIV and in response, Louis ordered the French clergy to establish the Declaration of Gallican Liberties. The document maintained that the pope s authority was limited to spiritual matters and that even in spiritual matters, the pope was subject to the decisions of a general council. ( Louis XIV: Absolutism, Steingrad) This caused a large amount of tension between the king and church, to the point where a split was possible. However, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In a similar article called Taking a Bite Out of Twilight, Carmen D. Siering shares her disapproval of the popular novel adored by so many: Twilight. Represented by the iconic red apple held in a women s palm with a sinister black backdrop, Twilight is a modern fairytale where the prince belongs to a monstrous society of blood sucking models, and the princess is your average, plain Jane highschool girl with a knack for getting into trouble. Siering s opinion is most basically this: Bella is objectified and downgraded in the Twilight series; a character created solely to compliment the plot propelled by male characters. Where the majority of the population sees an aching, beautiful and dangerous romance, Siering sees a controlling relationship and a dull female lead. According to the first draft of the Constitution, electors voted for two presidents, at least one of which was from a different state than the elector was representing. Whichever candidate received the most votes would become president and the runner up would be vice president. This method worked for several years until, in 1800, the unforeseen effect of political parties resulted in a tie for the presidency between Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson, both of the same party. The resulting dispute over who the president would be led to the 12th Amendment to the Constitution. The 12th Amendment changed the rules of the electoral process by having electors make separate votes for president and vice president. It goes on to say that if no candidate wins a majority of electoral votes, the House of Representatives would select a president from the top three candidates. The Amendment also stipulates that the Senate would choose a vice president from the top two candidates in the event of a tie for that office. In spite of that, research proves that children who experience hearing loss must have opportunities to enjoy a quality of life that does not remind them of their disabilities, but experience a quality of life that makes necessary modifications to augment their abilities.
