Cultural And Artistic Values And The Success Of Big Brother
An overview of cultural and artistic values which contribute to the success of Big Brother
By
Hasanein K Amori
Big Brother is an example of a distinctive game doc that caused a transitional stage to traditional
documentary and reality genre. Therefore, this essay will delve into its artistic and cultural value
that award the show this distinction. The work will approach different dimensions evaluating the
programme through a hierarchy of concepts. It will first approach the base of the hierarchy and
explain reality Tv genre as a covering topic that Big Brother related to. Then, it will introduce a
brief overview of the show structure. Subsequently, the work will briefly address the art of the
dramatic elements and the production and budget aspect. Finally, it will mainly focus on the
cultural appeal of Big Brother to its audience.
Big Brother programme is categorised as a reality TV show. However, The term of reality TV is
significantly broad. The reality TV is a representation of realism or actual aspects in different
forms and modes composing one genre. It is in effect a contrast to imaginary to refer to the
existence world in contrast to the fantasy world. Bignel (2005, P:61) clarified that The artificiality
of the scenario in some reality Tv programmes is countered by their use of non actor participants,
no scripts and a temporal progression which is close to the linear unfolding of lived daily time.
Also, Televisionreviewer Kerrie Murphy has a broader

Briefing on the Selection and Acquisition of a Healthcare...
Briefing on the Selection and Acquisition of a Healthcare Information System Executive Summary
In defining the selection and acquisition framework for the healthcare information system under
consideration, the creation of an Information technologies (IT) strategic plan is first needed. By
definition, an IT strategic plan defines in very specific terms how a proposed IT system will align
with and contribute to the strategic plans, objectives and goals of a healthcare organization (Davis,
Adams, 2007). The process of selecting and acquiring the healthcare information system under
development needs to take into account change management, process based, systems integration
and lifetime cost of ownership considerations. In addition to these factors, a balanced scorecard of
system performance and its contribution to each department in the organization also needs to be
assessed (Chow, Ganulin, Haddad, Williamson, 1998). Healthcare system planning and evaluation
has progressed beyond the basics of defining functional performance aspects of software towards
the inclusion and encompassing of how roles in a healthcare enterprise can be made more efficient
from their use (Spil, LeRouge, Trimmer, Wiggins, 2011). The process of selecting and acquiring the
information system then must be designed to take into account stakeholder s needs while also
delivering financially significant value to the enterprise over time (Davis, Adams, 2007). The intent
of this analysis is to define how the

Characteristics Of Montana Bats
Montana wants to keep its healthy population of bats. They are helpful to have around. Just one
little brown bat, one of the most common bats in Montana, can eat 1,200 nocturnal insects an hour.
Think of the mosquitoes that could be managed by a healthy population of bats. They also help
control beetles, leafhoppers, fleas and moths.
Montana has 15 known species of bats. Some of the bats are migratory bats. One of interesting
things about the bats and migration in Montana is that some bats migrate to stay and winter and
others migrate from the winter. Montana has bats coming and going.
Little Brown Myotis (Myotis luciguas)

Comparing The Voice, The Revolution, And The Key
I read The Voice, The Revolution, and The Key (650 pages!) in 3 large chunks. The book was
split into four acts that spanned 25 years. The plot progresses smoothly. It shows how America
became rebellious gradually. There is some mystery, some drama, and humor too. The story tells
us about Patrick Henry s family and his life as a kid. Additionally, it potrays the multiple conflicts
across the frontier. Gillamon and Clarie are spiritual animals in the Order of the Seven that give
missions and help on them too. Because it is fantasy, Gillamon and Clarie can tamper with history
because of their ability to shapeshift and time travel. Cato is an eagle, and he helps them get around
while not knowing the Order of the Seven are immortal. The enemy

Mozart Music In UW-Madison, School Of Music
The first event Mozart music was in UW Madison, school of music. I think the different
languages of music can help me improve my listening skills. when I came to this event, I was
surprised. A lot of old people were in music hall, and they were willing to pay 15 dollars in order
to listen this music. I didn t need to pay the money because I had a Wesli s student ID. Students
were free to join this musicale, but they didn t like it. I also didn t like it because I couldn t
understand what were they singing? I guess that the words of song were French. I got a content
about this music. In this content, I found two languages about words of song: one is French
(maybe), other is English that is a translate. However, the old people liked to hear... Show more

Another one was the General Chemistry class, which was talking about water in chemistry and
hydrolysis. In first lecture Animal Biology, the professor explained organization of animals and
four kinds of animals: Porifera, Cnidaria, Ctenophora, and Acoelemorpha. He was speaking
slowly and loudly, and students took notes and gave some their own opinions or questions in the
class. The professor was more focusing on power point, and he put a lot of information on the
power point because he was used many academic words. He tried to make a clear thinking. In
second lecture, the speaker asked their students some questions. So students gave their own
opinions actively. These classes are based around discussions of the material and teachers expect
students to be engaged in this dialogue. As a result, the classroom was very noisy. In China, the
class is quiet. Students do not always participate in the classroom because they cannot speak unless
picked by the lecturer. This is because the purpose is to sit in the classroom to copy and memorize
all the stuff that the instructor teaches. Then, they pasted it on the exam paper and got a good
grade. It also means that less interaction exists between the lecturer and

Caroline Lee Hoyle Analysis
The Sweet Southern Bell My full name is Caroline Lee Hoyle I always get told how my name
sounds like a sweet southern bell. Caroline means little womanly one which does not fit me at
all. I m a rowdy tomboy who loves getting dirty and being one of the guys. My dad calls me his son
Charlie for this reason Charlie means Strong Which fits me a lot better in my opinion. A girl
named Caroline to me is a girl who is weak and princess like. She waits for some guy to come along
to sweep her off her feet and live happily ever after. That to me is so unrealistic and so old
fashioned just like Caroline is. Also, when people think of the name Caroline they always think of
the song Sweet Caroline. Which I hate because I grew up like one of the guys

Differentiation of Cyclic Tertiary AmineCathinone Derivatives by
Product Ion Electron Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Abstract
Rationale
A number of synthetic cathinones (aminoketones, ?bath salts?) are tertiary amines containing a
cyclic amino group, most commonly pyrrolidine. These totally synthetic compounds can be
prepared in a number of regioisomeric designer modification and many of these can yield isomeric
major EI MS fragment ions.
Methods
A series of regioisomeric cyclic tertiary amines were prepared and evaluated in EI MS and MS
/MS product ion experiments. The cyclic amines azetidine, pyrrolidine, piperidine and azepane
were incorporated into a series of aminoketones related to the cathinone derivative drug of abuse
known as MDPV. Deuterium labeling in both the cyclic amine and alkyl side chain allowed for the

Food Dye Synthesis Lab Report
INTRODUCTION The result of the peripatetic nature of electromagnetic radiation through a prism,
or the spectrum, concluded the six distinctive colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet.1,5
These spectrum colors have been noted as constants of color that measure luminosity, chroma, and
wavelength.5 Wavelengths, in the range of 400 750 nm, have been ascertained by the absorbance
spectrum due to the way for which lightis absorbed by a compound, such as food dyes, and how the
observed colortends to complement the absorbed color, i.e. red paired with green, orange with blue,
and yellow with violet.2,3 Food dyes, added to foods and beverages to provide a certain
appearance and to meet customer expectations, have correlated to the absorbance... Show more

Each sample was tested against water, which was carefully calibrated. Furthermore, to determine
the concentration of the food dye found within a beverage sample, the ingredients label from the
beverage container was read and used to determine which food dye was present within the
sample. Subsequently, 50 mL of the food dye type was collected and separated into labeled test
tubes in 2 mL decreasing increments from 10 mL to 2 mL. Likewise, water was added to the test
tubes in 2 mL increasing increments from 0 mL to 8 mL, so that each test tube contained 10 mL
of solution. The absorbance of each solution was measured using the spectrometer, recorded, and
then used to determine the concentration of each solution. A scatter plot of the concentration of
the food dye in each sample versus absorbance was created, allowing or the equation of the
trendline to be found. The absorbance of the beverage solution was then ascertained, and was
calculated against the trendline for the scatter plot to determine whether it was within the same
range of standards as the food dye. If the beverage had not been within the same range of standards,
the beverage would have been diluted, recorded, and measured

Lord Of The Flies Simon Character Analysis
In the novel, Lord of the flies, written by William Golding illustrates symbolism through the life of
the boys; therefore we have simon s isolation and piggy s intelligence and jacks chaos.
Body 1 simons isolation
Simon, one of the main characters because of who he is and his feelings toward the whole thing.
He becomes isolated which is important because it shows how he feels. Simon is symbolized as
things such as depression and loneliness which is very important, in the book because there is one
point where simon says to the boys on the beach, which means that he thought about it while the
others did not think about it. He thought about the problem and the things that the boys did he
becomes the beast himself. The story states, maybe we are the beast (Golding). This shows that
simon has thought about it and is thinking about it more as he moves forward and ends up putting
on the pig to show everyone how he feels but ends up getting killed. Simon shut people out because
he was torn between doing the right thing and not doing the right thing. He understands that if he
just goes away that he won t have to be torn. Which shows that he would rather step back and think
and look then to just jump to conclusions. Simon is mature for doing what he did.
This is very important because it shows that people that you say you can trust you can t and they
stab you in the back. Simon is a very important person in the book and always will be. He

Character Analysis Of Mal Reynolds And Serenity
On occasion when watching a show or movie or when reading a book we can come across
characters to whom we can easily relate. For this assignment we were asked to do just that and
find characters with whom we felt we shared characteristics that could be used to describe
ourselves. The three fictional characters that I believe most represent my personality are Mal
Reynolds from the show fireflyand the movie Serenityfor his loyalty and courage, Jack Sparrow for
his silliness and free spirited nature, and Alucard from the anime Hellsing for his professional
demeanor and mannerisms.
Captain Mal Reynolds is from the short lived, but much loved show serenity. The show was short
lived but gained a loving audience and a Movie that was supposed to help close the rather
unfinished story. In both show and move Reynolds demonstrates extreme loyalty and
protectiveness for his crew. Risking his life to take care of their ship and liveliness. In the show
there are Multiple instances where Reynolds displace his loyalty and protectiveness, such as
when he took on an enemy crew by himself while injured to give his crew a chance to live. This
attribute is a boon to Reynolds as it has earned him the loyalty and love of his crew, more so than
an average crew, they are almost like a family. This has led to them saving him as well on multiple
accounts. Such events include shooting a guy off Mel as he was being strangled and coming back
to save him from suffocation due to air loss after having sent

The s Defense Of Icons
In Defense of Icons
Throughout history The Church and a number of Christians including myself have found
themselves defending their use of icons against the views of individuals who felt that the icons
were a form of idolatry. These individuals also know as Iconoclasts have a staunch position against
the use of icons. Their position is based on interpretation of the Old Testamentlaw stated in Exodus
20:4 You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens
or on the earth or in the sea . Is this truly contrary to the Old Testament law or is it simply
preserving through time the incarnation of Christ, the Gospels and the history of the Christian
church? I will give you a brief history, and then offer my personal opinion to the subject. Let s
define what is an icon and give a brief history of icons. An icon is sacred art, usually a fresco or
mosaic of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, martyred Saints or scenes from the bible that are given
special veneration. This type of sacred art first appeared in the catacombs were the first Christians
would gather to worship during periods of persecution. The scenes depicted were of Christ s
family, gospel stories or stories from the Hebrew scriptures. As Christianitybegan to grow, and
after the Edict of Milan the Emperor Constantine decreed that Christians were no longer to be
persecuted. In response to this new decree, by the fourth century icons became a way of teaching
the Gospel and a way to

Essay On Chipotle Mexican Grill
Restaurants and cuisines are seen all over the world today . We knew that we wanted to create
something different from your average mexican restaurant by doing so this concluded in the idea of
extending our business not only in the united states but around the world .
We came up with a significant amount of research regarding our business the well known Chipotle
Mexican Grill we conveyed to bring it to Sydney australia ; just like america our company will
have to adjust to the different appetites , we must understand what their likes and dislikes are .
Statistics show that in all total we have an annual revenue of 826.9 million dollars and employed
over 37,00 employees with an average of more than 1,500 locations. Moving the mexican grill that
specializes in serving burritos , salads , tacos , bowls and much more to sydney will result in a big

cuisines . The competitive advantage that makes chipotle such a great investment is there business
plan which requires them to incorporate the speed of a fast food industry by having high quality
products , even though these mexican grills target the same customers chipotle stays above the
others with their strategic strategies that differentiate the food ; Oppose to the competitors all of

Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Is Cheaper From Scratch Or From A...
As a frugal cook, I often make things from scratch rather than buying a mix or packaged food
item. This works well in many cases, but in others, it s actually cheaper to buy the pre packaged
item. Recently, I decided to look at whether spaghetti sauce is cheaper from scratch or from a
can. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Price Looking at price alone, it s actually an easy
call. At Winco Foods, I bought 26.5 ounce can of Del Monte Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce for 78
cents. At most stores, in fact, I can find canned spaghetti sauce for one dollar or less per can. For
comparison purposes, I also purchased one 14 ounce can and one 8 ounce can of tomato sauce,
and one four ounce can of mushrooms (stems and pieces). This came to over a dollar and that
doesn t even include the onions, herbs and spices that I already had at home. In terms of price
alone, the canned spaghetti sauce is obviously the better buy. But for me, there s more to it than
that. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Taste and appearance Do my family and I actually
prefer the canned sauce or the homemade sauce? Based on taste and appearance, I would favor the
homemade sauce. The canned sauce is overly sweet, and the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce are
nearly invisible they must be finely minced (probably leftover bits from something else).
Homemade sauce has tasty chunks and pieces of mushrooms, and I control the herbs and spices,
adjusting them to my family s taste. Canned vs. Homemade

Symbolism In Raktakarabi
In Rabindranath Tagore s play, Raktakarabi (Red Oleanders, 1924), set in an imaginary town called
Yakshapuri ruled under capitalism, minorities are dehumanized and exploited into becoming a
source of gold digging machines by a brutal King whose ever growing obsession with wealth had
turned him despicable until salvation became apparent in the hands of a woman named Nandini.
Nandini is the protagonist and the King is the antagonist of the play. Yakshapuri in Hindu
mythology is referred to as the abode of the god of its hoard of treasure. In the play, the King
symbolizes the oppressor of both humans and nature by fear and power and Nandini symbolizes the
nature that restores its equilibrium by shaking everything into its righteous place by beauty, love
and strong character. What s left in between are the oppressed: the miners along with their families
who are undoubtedly and hopelessly stuck in a rollercoaster where their freedom is nowhere to be
apparent. Tagore shows his concern over the materialistic industry oriented mentality of men and
the lust of controlling the resources of the earth as well as the inhabitants by exploiting, estranging
and circumscribing the underdogs.

Alpha Male Stereotypes
The Stereotype of The Alpha Male
For past years to current times striking fear and rejection of society, has forced men to create a
stereotype that compensates their deep insecurities, low esteem, and incompetence to value women.
In the course of time, the Alpha Male has developed different characteristics which can easily
distinguish him from everybody else. If those characters are analyzed, it can be understood
furthermore more deep the reason behind this behavior. From a scientific definition, the Alpha Male
is considered in the animal kingdom the leader of his social group, although his leadership comes
with the benefits he is not driven by narcissistic purposes but for the well being of his pack. In
contrast with the social Alpha male, the just mentioned attributes are not present.
Media has portrayed this character in different ways, but for most researchers online, Ryan
Gosling in his portrayal of his character Jacob Palmer from the movie Crazy Stupid Love is the
perfect example of the modern Alpha Male. The famous scene that takes place in the bar in which
his character is set alone in a dark bar club with dimmed lights illuminating the bar counter, reclining

Comparison Of Various Metallization Schemes For Ohmic...
Comparison of various metallization schemes for ohmic contacts to n type GaN.
Abstract:
Three ohmic contact metallization schemes to n type GaN (n GaN) namely Ti/Al/Ni/Au, Ti/Al/Mo
/Au and Ti/Al/Re/Au are compared with respect to their contact resistance, root mean square values
of surface roughness, annealing temperature and the mechanism of ohmic contact formation.
Introduction:
Gallium nitride (GaN) is a binary III/V direct bandgap semiconductor with a bandgap of 3.4 eV
commonly used in light emitting diodes since the 1990s. GaN has a low sensitivity to ionizing
radiation which makes it a suitable material for solar panels on satellites. Various military and
space application also benefit from the usage if this radiation hardened material. Besides the wide
bandgap, high breakdown field and high saturation velocity of GaN make it very promising for high
power, high speed and high temperature electronic devices. GaN devices offer five key
characteristics: high dielectric strength, high operating temperature, high current density, high
speed switching and low on resistance. These characteristics are due to the properties of GaN,
which, compared to silicon, offers ten times higher electrical breakdown characteristics, three times
the bandgap, and exceptional carrier mobility. Low resistance Ohmic contacts with a smooth
morphology, and good edge acuity and thermal stability are imperative in the successful
implementation of all these devices, particularly high power devices

Bion documented three behaviors that occur during dissonance as; (1) dependence, (2) fight
flight, and (3) pairing (Bright, 2011). Dependence in a group is seen as members blaming
someone or something else for their awkward feeling and either becoming dysfunctional when
the group becomes overly dependent on members, or having a positive outcome if the group
comes together and rallies to succeed (Bright, 2011). I experienced both sides of dependence
when my former employer made major changes to the leadership of the organization. The leader
that was put in place was rarely there and had a separate agenda from the organization. At first a
few of us banded together to keep things at status quo, but after a while we gave up and I became
emotionally detached from the organization. Fight flight behavior is evident when there is
ambiguity. Disruptive conflict between members of the group is the fight aspect and the flight
aspect is when members mentally shut down and no longer participate in the group (Bright, 2011).
Neither behavior is productive in a group, but can be turned into a positive if recognized and dealt
with proactively; communication is the key. During the reorganization mentioned above, there
were several disruptive conflicts that resulted in terminations. Becoming emotionally detached
wasn t a bad thing for me on a personal level because I didn t take work home with me and I

Essay On Progressive Movement
Michael Dudash
Professor Kersey
U.S. History (Post 1877)
28 September 2016
The Progressive Movement
The progressive movement, the era of change in a New America , occurred in the late 19th century
into the early 20th century. Debated as the most influential time in history, this period birthed three
amendments (17th, 18th, and 19th) along with much social and political change. Sandwiched
between societal depression , this was a breath catching interlude of reform and social justice. This
movement was definitely a people s movement. But what caused it? How did it start and why?
One of the sparks in the blaze called the Progressive Movement was the shadow cast upon the
working class by big business and corrupt politics (The Gilded Age). The big business interacted
with and basically controlled politics (mainly because of monetary control). John Powell said in his
article, Unraveling the Progressive Movement , Men such as ... Show more content on

The big cities often favored middle class and upper class individuals. The standard and quality of
life was much higher for those with money. This may seem obvious, but the lower class
individuals were in diseased, highly populated areas in the slums of the city. These ghettos and
slums of the cities held a high number of immigrants. These immigrants were competing for low
wage jobs, swarming into heavy industrialized areas. Dr. Hansan, the author of the article, The
Progressive Era , says, The progressives came from a long tradition of middle class elites
possessing a strong sense of social duty to the poor. Progressives felt an obligation to help the
lower class. The biggest group that helped were middle class women. These women helped
immigrants to speak English, helped with child care, and helped with health care (Red Cross).
Along with immigrants, lower class citizens were also helped. Labor Unions were formed to

My Research on Comets
For my spring semester project I decided to research on comets. I settled upon comets because
comets have always intrigued me and I have never really known the full extent of them. I have
known that comets come across the Earth with their spectacular light but I have never really
known the whole story behind them such as how they come across the Earth, the specialty of
them, and how there is light coming from them. After researching extensively, I have learned a
great deal about them such as their origins, where they form, and also what comets were thought
to be. I believe comets are one of the greatest and most spectacular objects that travel in the
universe because they are rarely seen but they give a wonderful experience and show for people.
To begin with, comets are called dirty balls of ice because they are mixed with sooty ice, dust and
many more. The word comets have had lots of names in cultures, and to the Greeks it s called
kometes which means hairy stars. A cometis made of three main components which are: the
nucleus, coma, and the tail. The nucleus is also called the center core and it is made up of icy
gases and grains of dust. The nucleus is not very hard but can hold elements such as oxygen,
nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen. Also the dust in the nucleus is made by silicates and metal in the
ice. The next part is the coma which is a cloud of hydrogen atoms that cover the nucleus. A process
occurs called resonance fluorescence which sublimates the ice

Lasell College Graduation Analysis
Please provide an account of what you have been doing since leaving Lasell and a clear
explanation of why you wish to return:
The last four years have led me to realize just how big of a mistake I had made by leaving Lasell
College in 2012. As it had happened, I was put on academic suspension my first semester and at
the time, I was immature, unmotivated and indecisive unable to come to terms with the rapidly
shifting dynamics of my life. I was not at all prepared for adulthood; and my adolescent mentality
did not cope well with my newly founded independence. I did not know what I wanted to do with

Correlation Of Chirpss
In the real world, we are constantly looking for ways to make connections between things. When
you try to find a correlation between two variables, the variables are known as bivariate data. This
is done so that we can analyze things like the connection between a number of ice cream cones
bought each day compared to its temperature. In this study, we are calculating the correlation
coefficient of the number of chirps a cricket makes per second and the temperature. This is another
form of bivariate data since we are measuring the temperature, and we are measuring the chirps per
second. For each temperature measure and corresponding chirps per second, we can graph it on a
scatter plot and analyze it from there using things like the correlation... Show more content on

This leads us to believe that one variable caused the other. In this scenario, we are lead to believe
that when the temperature decreases, it directly leads to crickets chirping more. While there is a
definite relationship here, it might not be a cause and effect relationship. This can be known as
causation. For instance, when looking at the number of people affected by cancer each year, and
the number of deaths each year, these will have a direct cause and effect relationship indicating that
it has a strong causation and correlation. The cricket situation doesn t happen to have a strong
causation, while crickets do chirp faster when the temperature rises, it is only because the warm
temperature gives them energy, and the energy is what makes crickets chirp

Coca Cola And Its Impact On The World Essay
Coca cola is a well known brand throughout the world. The start of Coca cola was in 1886 by a
pharmacist named Dr. John S. Pemberton in Atlanta who originally intended for the the
beverage to be patience medicine. (The Coca Cola foundation, 2016) Dr. Pemberton made the
drink formula but a partner and friend of his, Frank M. Robinson, named this new drink.
Robinson decided to name the drink Coca Cola because, when it was first made the drink did
contain small amounts of cocaine. In 1888, Pemberton started to sell portions of business, a
majority of the the company sold was to businessman named Asa G. Candler. (Coca Cola History,
2016) With Chandler s help that same year, Coca Cola expanded to soda fountains in Atlanta as
well as many other states in the U.S, Coca Cola now being in popular demand all over the U.S,
Chandler brought it from soda fountains to the portable bottles. The first bottling machinery was
available in Mississippi and eventually grew from there. In 1899, just three years after the first
bottling machinery; three enterprising businessmen in Chattanooga, Tennessee secured exclusive
rights to bottle and sell Coca‑Cola. The three entrepreneurs purchased the bottling rights from
Asa Candler for just $1. Benjamin Thomas, Joseph Whitehead and John Lupton developed what
became the Coca‑Cola bottling system. (Coca Cola History, 2016) The more popular the drink
became the more people would talk about the effects it had on people. With negative publicity

The Life of Zora Neale Hurston Essay
Zora Neale Hurston, known as one of the most symbolic African American women during the
Harlem Renaissance in the 1930 s. Hurston was known as a non fiction writer, anthropologist and

celebrating black dialect and their traditions. Most of her published stories depict relationships

Fidel Castro s Influence On Cuba
In 1959 Castro launched his guerilla army into Havana to overthrow dictatorial leader of Cuba,
Fulgencio Batista. Many Cubans welcomed Castro and his ideas to reduce American influence in
Cuba. However, this power change became a concern for the Americans. Batista had been
considered pro american and an ally of America. Castro on the other hand disapproved of the
American approach to business and interests in Cubaand believed it was time for Cubans to assume
control of their own nation. In 1960 Castro began to establish diplomatic relations with the Soviet
Union, effectively severing former ties with the Americans. The Eisenhower, and later Kennedy
administrations authorized the CIA to come up with a way to remove Castro. The Americans...

The invaders were vastly outnumbered, and they surrendered after less than 2 days. There was
no way to overthrow Castro without a strong political opposition, and no such opposition was
present inside or outside of Cuba. During the battle, Castro fought directly alongside his people,
proving his loyalty to them and demonstrating the effectiveness of his personality by rallying his
people behind him. He personally took charge of the defense, commanding troops, and air forces.
Steadily the invaders were pushed back and inevitably surrendered. This battle was a substantial
win for Castro, his revolution, and his people. With the loss of the invasion for America, came the
solidification of power for Castro. Castro became a hero to his people, as the emergence of
America as a foreign threat rallied the Cuban people behind Castro.
After the invasion Castro and his army captured roughly 1100 men of the American protected
Brigade 2506. In the late spring of 1961 Castro wanted to make a deal with the US, exchanging
the prisoners for a ransom. Initially Castro requested agricultural equipment and 500 caterpillar
type tractors , that were essentially bulldozers at a value of $28 million. The American
government offered Castro much cheaper tractors valued at $17 million, which Castro found
insulting. He told the Americans there would be no deal. Nearly a year later at the end of March,
1962 Castro put the men of Brigade 2506

Road Trip Research Paper
Why didn t you put on some sunscreen? What were you thinking? These are some of the
questions that arose on a long summer road trip. During the summer of 2016, my family and I
went on a three week road trip starting in Chestertown, NY, and going as far west as Yellowstone
National Park. The first stop on the trip was Niagara Falls. We went at night, and the water was
lit up in various colors, it was pretty cool. These days heading out west were mainly long days in
the truck followed up with even more long days in the truck. Before we went to on the trip, I
thought that the trip down to Albany took forever, but a couple of fifteen plus hour drives going
out west made going to Albany seem like it was just down the road. After two, maybe three days
we were driving through Chicago at 3 in the morning (that s the time of night I saw several
major cities along this trip) I thought it looked nice from what I could see, but then again it was
3 in the morning. That night, we didn t have any reservations, so we ended up trying to just
spend the night in a Walmart parking lot on the outskirts of Chicago (what an idea). We tried to
go to bed for like 10 mins, and I swear I could hear a gun firing off in the distance, and you could
hear people walking by the camper, and not to mention the cop sirens you could hear too. We
basically got back in the truck and left real quick. Next, we went north and ended up staying at a

Analysis Of Sunsets And Sunsets
In the poems, She sweeps with many Colored Brooms , by Emily Dickenson, and Sunsets , by Carl
Sandburg; the authors compare sunset to women. The beauty of sunset is the central in both poems
however, they each contain different ideas about sunset. For example, Dickenson, focuses more on
the beauty of sunsetwhile, Sandburg, compares a sunset to a womans demeanor, and brings out the
different kinds of ways the sunsets. In the poem, by Emily Dickenson she compares sunset to a
housewife. The poem cites She sweeps with many colored brooms [line 1 2], the quote is
portraying the true beauty of a housewife s chores. It is also indirectly referring to the rays of a
sunset. A diligent woman sews her own beautiful garments. She uses all different colors and
types of thread to sew each of her garments. The colorfulness of the thread can compare to a
magnificent sunset. The poem quotes, And now you ve littered all the East, with duds of
emerald! [line 7 8]. Literarily, this is referring to the threads and clothes that litter a woman s
home. However, Dickenson is referring to the sun setting east, and shining its glow onto the
world. The author, uses emerald to portray this beautiful scene since, emerald is a considered a
beautiful stone. In the poem Sunsets , by Carl Sandburg, he compares a woman s demeanor to
sunset. A woman naturally carries a major role in life, and is also considered a symbol of beauty
and elegance. The poem states Ribbon at the ears, sashes at

Elementary Secondary Education Act Of 1965 And Its...
Education is valued as one of the most important aspects of socio economic group mobilization and
social elevation in the United States. Operating under a human capital ideology education in the
U.S. is a means to provide education to individuals in an effort for continued economic
advancement for our nation. However, as times change educationfails to completely change with it.
Secondary educationis no longer seen as a means to earning financial stability. Primary education
encompasses complexity of issues that still remain to be addressed wholly. With the creation of the
U.S. Constitution states are given power to construct education. Educational reform continues to be
complex with ever changing politicians and platforms failing to have the time to create long lasting
systematic changes but also not fully grasp educational challenges collectively. Educational reform
such as Elementary Secondary Education Act of 1965 and its versions No Child Left Behind Act
and Every Child Succeeds Act 2015 has changed the way students learn and teachers teach. The
need for continued educational innovations is of the utmost importance. We as a society continue to
strive for creating organizational policies and pedagogies that not only enhance research but a allow
for a greater society understanding and applicability to enhance education for millions.

Compare And Contrast Edmund Spenser And Sonnet 5
How does one gain immortality? According to Edmund Spenser (c. 1552 1599), William
Shakespeare (1564 1616) and Michael Drayton (1563 1631) you do it through poetry. In their
respective sonnets Sonnet 75 (One day I wrote her name upon the strand), Sonnet 18 (Shall I
compare thee to a summer s day?) and Sonnet6 (How many paltry, foolish, painted things) they
each tackle the topic of living forever through writing. While all three of these sonnets share the
common subject matter of preserving someone through sonnets, do they present them in a similar
manner? What senses do each poet use to get his point across? That will be the point of discussion
in this essay, first looking at each of the sonnets separately and then comparing the different ways in
which they appeal to the senses.
Edmund Spenser s Sonnet 75 (One day I wrote her name upon the strand) is written in the
Spenserian sonnet form, with 14 lines brought together in 3 quartets and 1 couplet with a rhyming

Both Shakespeare and Spenser have the conflict of the natural, with Spenser and the waves and
Shakespeare with the metaphorical changing of seasons. Drayton s conflict seems to be on a more
human level, as his focus is what women to come will think of his woman and how they will see
her as superior. Unlike Spenser who preserves the object of his sonnet through the dialogue,
Shakespeare preserves it through the visual imagery. Drayton also has a clear visual emphasis
throughout his sonnet, even though his language has an added pride and sense of superiority to it
that are not present in the others. While the object of his sonnet is their sex s only glory
(Drayton, line 12) there is little to describe the woman herself, and more as to how others shall
remember her in awe and how she will live on through his words. This sets Drayton s sonnet a bit

Vertical integration is the process of combining firms, usually under a single ownership, that are
different parts of a larger production scale. This could be anything from two firms to all of the
firms that make up the supply chain. Due to combining multiple smaller firms, this form of
integration has an effect on the market power that the firm(s) has (Riordan, 2008). This differs to
horizontal integration which is the combination of firms or expansion of a single firm at one
particular point of the production process (Black, Hashimzade, Myles, 2009, p. 206 7).
Vertical integrationis usually carried out in one of two ways. Upstream, which can be referred to

248). As well as this they will benefit from having a reliable retailer that will have a consistent
demand for their products. Although they will have a consistent buyer for their products the
subsidiaries will have to receive a lower unit price for their products as a result of bringing down
their costs after the integration. This is not a negative as the demand for their product is consistent
and the fall in market price will be proportional to the fall in costs.
As well as Smithfield, other meat and poultry production firms have benefitted from having highly
integrated production chains such as Tyson, ConAgra and Swift (Pepall, Richards, Norman, 2008,
p. 449). The integration of these firms is consistent with Lieberman s views (1991, p. 452) of why
upstream integration may take place. The main reason which is applicable to this situation is that if
the inputs in question account for a large proportion of total cost (which animals being bred for
meat will do) then the downstream firm is more likely to integrate.
Although all these firms are highly integrated and could offer much lower prices than they already
do to the consumers they choose not to. Having a higher mark up allows them to receive higher
profit margins from the lower input costs while keeping similar market prices for their final output.
This is a form of non price

  • 3. Briefing on the Selection and Acquisition of a Healthcare... Briefing on the Selection and Acquisition of a Healthcare Information System Executive Summary In defining the selection and acquisition framework for the healthcare information system under consideration, the creation of an Information technologies (IT) strategic plan is first needed. By definition, an IT strategic plan defines in very specific terms how a proposed IT system will align with and contribute to the strategic plans, objectives and goals of a healthcare organization (Davis, Adams, 2007). The process of selecting and acquiring the healthcare information system under development needs to take into account change management, process based, systems integration and lifetime cost of ownership considerations. In addition to these factors, a balanced scorecard of system performance and its contribution to each department in the organization also needs to be assessed (Chow, Ganulin, Haddad, Williamson, 1998). Healthcare system planning and evaluation has progressed beyond the basics of defining functional performance aspects of software towards the inclusion and encompassing of how roles in a healthcare enterprise can be made more efficient from their use (Spil, LeRouge, Trimmer, Wiggins, 2011). The process of selecting and acquiring the information system then must be designed to take into account stakeholder s needs while also delivering financially significant value to the enterprise over time (Davis, Adams, 2007). • 5. Comparing The Voice, The Revolution, And The Key I read The Voice, The Revolution, and The Key (650 pages!) in 3 large chunks. The book was split into four acts that spanned 25 years. The plot progresses smoothly. It shows how America became rebellious gradually. There is some mystery, some drama, and humor too. The story tells us about Patrick Henry s family and his life as a kid. Additionally, it potrays the multiple conflicts across the frontier. Gillamon and Clarie are spiritual animals in the Order of the Seven that give missions and help on them too. Because it is fantasy, Gillamon and Clarie can tamper with history because of their ability to shapeshift and time travel. Cato is an eagle, and he helps them get around while not knowing the Order of the Seven are immortal. The enemy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I think the different languages of music can help me improve my listening skills. when I came to this event, I was surprised. A lot of old people were in music hall, and they were willing to pay 15 dollars in order to listen this music. I didn t need to pay the money because I had a Wesli s student ID. Students were free to join this musicale, but they didn t like it. I also didn t like it because I couldn t understand what were they singing? I guess that the words of song were French. I got a content about this music. In this content, I found two languages about words of song: one is French (maybe), other is English that is a translate. However, the old people liked to hear... In first lecture Animal Biology, the professor explained organization of animals and four kinds of animals: Porifera, Cnidaria, Ctenophora, and Acoelemorpha. He was speaking slowly and loudly, and students took notes and gave some their own opinions or questions in the class. The professor was more focusing on power point, and he put a lot of information on the power point because he was used many academic words. He tried to make a clear thinking. In second lecture, the speaker asked their students some questions. So students gave their own opinions actively. These classes are based around discussions of the material and teachers expect students to be engaged in this dialogue. As a result, the classroom was very noisy. In China, the class is quiet. Students do not always participate in the classroom because they cannot speak unless picked by the lecturer. This is because the purpose is to sit in the classroom to copy and memorize all the stuff that the instructor teaches. Then, they pasted it on the exam paper and got a good grade. • 7. Caroline Lee Hoyle Analysis The Sweet Southern Bell My full name is Caroline Lee Hoyle I always get told how my name sounds like a sweet southern bell. Caroline means little womanly one which does not fit me at all. I m a rowdy tomboy who loves getting dirty and being one of the guys. My dad calls me his son Charlie for this reason Charlie means Strong Which fits me a lot better in my opinion. A girl named Caroline to me is a girl who is weak and princess like. She waits for some guy to come along to sweep her off her feet and live happily ever after. That to me is so unrealistic and so old fashioned just like Caroline is. Also, when people think of the name Caroline they always think of the song Sweet Caroline. Which I hate because I grew up like one of the guys ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Likewise, water was added to the test tubes in 2 mL increasing increments from 0 mL to 8 mL, so that each test tube contained 10 mL of solution. The absorbance of each solution was measured using the spectrometer, recorded, and then used to determine the concentration of each solution. A scatter plot of the concentration of the food dye in each sample versus absorbance was created, allowing or the equation of the trendline to be found. The absorbance of the beverage solution was then ascertained, and was calculated against the trendline for the scatter plot to determine whether it was within the same range of standards as the food dye. Body 1 simons isolation Simon, one of the main characters because of who he is and his feelings toward the whole thing. He becomes isolated which is important because it shows how he feels. Simon is symbolized as things such as depression and loneliness which is very important, in the book because there is one point where simon says to the boys on the beach, which means that he thought about it while the others did not think about it. He thought about the problem and the things that the boys did he becomes the beast himself. The story states, maybe we are the beast (Golding). This shows that simon has thought about it and is thinking about it more as he moves forward and ends up putting on the pig to show everyone how he feels but ends up getting killed. Simon shut people out because he was torn between doing the right thing and not doing the right thing. He understands that if he just goes away that he won t have to be torn. Which shows that he would rather step back and think and look then to just jump to conclusions. Simon is mature for doing what he did. For this assignment we were asked to do just that and find characters with whom we felt we shared characteristics that could be used to describe ourselves. The three fictional characters that I believe most represent my personality are Mal Reynolds from the show fireflyand the movie Serenityfor his loyalty and courage, Jack Sparrow for his silliness and free spirited nature, and Alucard from the anime Hellsing for his professional demeanor and mannerisms. Captain Mal Reynolds is from the short lived, but much loved show serenity. The show was short lived but gained a loving audience and a Movie that was supposed to help close the rather unfinished story. In both show and move Reynolds demonstrates extreme loyalty and protectiveness for his crew. Risking his life to take care of their ship and liveliness. In the show there are Multiple instances where Reynolds displace his loyalty and protectiveness, such as when he took on an enemy crew by himself while injured to give his crew a chance to live. This attribute is a boon to Reynolds as it has earned him the loyalty and love of his crew, more so than an average crew, they are almost like a family. This has led to them saving him as well on multiple accounts. The s Defense Of Icons In Defense of Icons Throughout history The Church and a number of Christians including myself have found themselves defending their use of icons against the views of individuals who felt that the icons were a form of idolatry. These individuals also know as Iconoclasts have a staunch position against the use of icons. Their position is based on interpretation of the Old Testamentlaw stated in Exodus 20:4 You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea . Is this truly contrary to the Old Testament law or is it simply preserving through time the incarnation of Christ, the Gospels and the history of the Christian church? I will give you a brief history, and then offer my personal opinion to the subject. Let s define what is an icon and give a brief history of icons. An icon is sacred art, usually a fresco or mosaic of Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary, martyred Saints or scenes from the bible that are given special veneration. This type of sacred art first appeared in the catacombs were the first Christians would gather to worship during periods of persecution. The scenes depicted were of Christ s family, gospel stories or stories from the Hebrew scriptures. • 19. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Is Cheaper From Scratch Or From A... As a frugal cook, I often make things from scratch rather than buying a mix or packaged food item. This works well in many cases, but in others, it s actually cheaper to buy the pre packaged item. Recently, I decided to look at whether spaghetti sauce is cheaper from scratch or from a can. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Price Looking at price alone, it s actually an easy call. At Winco Foods, I bought 26.5 ounce can of Del Monte Mushroom Spaghetti Sauce for 78 cents. At most stores, in fact, I can find canned spaghetti sauce for one dollar or less per can. For comparison purposes, I also purchased one 14 ounce can and one 8 ounce can of tomato sauce, and one four ounce can of mushrooms (stems and pieces). This came to over a dollar and that doesn t even include the onions, herbs and spices that I already had at home. In terms of price alone, the canned spaghetti sauce is obviously the better buy. But for me, there s more to it than that. Canned vs. Homemade Spaghetti Sauce: Taste and appearance Do my family and I actually prefer the canned sauce or the homemade sauce? Based on taste and appearance, I would favor the homemade sauce. The canned sauce is overly sweet, and the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce are nearly invisible they must be finely minced (probably leftover bits from something else). Homemade sauce has tasty chunks and pieces of mushrooms, and I control the herbs and spices, adjusting them to my family s taste. Canned vs. Homemade ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Symbolism In Raktakarabi In Rabindranath Tagore s play, Raktakarabi (Red Oleanders, 1924), set in an imaginary town called Yakshapuri ruled under capitalism, minorities are dehumanized and exploited into becoming a source of gold digging machines by a brutal King whose ever growing obsession with wealth had turned him despicable until salvation became apparent in the hands of a woman named Nandini. Nandini is the protagonist and the King is the antagonist of the play. Yakshapuri in Hindu mythology is referred to as the abode of the god of its hoard of treasure. Abstract: Three ohmic contact metallization schemes to n type GaN (n GaN) namely Ti/Al/Ni/Au, Ti/Al/Mo /Au and Ti/Al/Re/Au are compared with respect to their contact resistance, root mean square values of surface roughness, annealing temperature and the mechanism of ohmic contact formation. Introduction: Gallium nitride (GaN) is a binary III/V direct bandgap semiconductor with a bandgap of 3.4 eV commonly used in light emitting diodes since the 1990s. GaN has a low sensitivity to ionizing radiation which makes it a suitable material for solar panels on satellites. Various military and space application also benefit from the usage if this radiation hardened material. Besides the wide bandgap, high breakdown field and high saturation velocity of GaN make it very promising for high power, high speed and high temperature electronic devices. GaN devices offer five key characteristics: high dielectric strength, high operating temperature, high current density, high speed switching and low on resistance. These characteristics are due to the properties of GaN, which, compared to silicon, offers ten times higher electrical breakdown characteristics, three times the bandgap, and exceptional carrier mobility. Low resistance Ohmic contacts with a smooth morphology, and good edge acuity and thermal stability are imperative in the successful implementation of all these devices, particularly high power devices ... Dependence in a group is seen as members blaming someone or something else for their awkward feeling and either becoming dysfunctional when the group becomes overly dependent on members, or having a positive outcome if the group comes together and rallies to succeed (Bright, 2011). I experienced both sides of dependence when my former employer made major changes to the leadership of the organization. The leader that was put in place was rarely there and had a separate agenda from the organization. At first a few of us banded together to keep things at status quo, but after a while we gave up and I became emotionally detached from the organization. Fight flight behavior is evident when there is ambiguity. Disruptive conflict between members of the group is the fight aspect and the flight aspect is when members mentally shut down and no longer participate in the group (Bright, 2011). Debated as the most influential time in history, this period birthed three amendments (17th, 18th, and 19th) along with much social and political change. Sandwiched between societal depression , this was a breath catching interlude of reform and social justice. This movement was definitely a people s movement. But what caused it? How did it start and why? One of the sparks in the blaze called the Progressive Movement was the shadow cast upon the working class by big business and corrupt politics (The Gilded Age). I settled upon comets because comets have always intrigued me and I have never really known the full extent of them. I have known that comets come across the Earth with their spectacular light but I have never really known the whole story behind them such as how they come across the Earth, the specialty of them, and how there is light coming from them. After researching extensively, I have learned a great deal about them such as their origins, where they form, and also what comets were thought to be. I believe comets are one of the greatest and most spectacular objects that travel in the universe because they are rarely seen but they give a wonderful experience and show for people. To begin with, comets are called dirty balls of ice because they are mixed with sooty ice, dust and many more. The word comets have had lots of names in cultures, and to the Greeks it s called kometes which means hairy stars. A cometis made of three main components which are: the nucleus, coma, and the tail. The nucleus is also called the center core and it is made up of icy gases and grains of dust. The nucleus is not very hard but can hold elements such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, and hydrogen. Also the dust in the nucleus is made by silicates and metal in the ice. The next part is the coma which is a cloud of hydrogen atoms that cover the nucleus. When you try to find a correlation between two variables, the variables are known as bivariate data. This is done so that we can analyze things like the connection between a number of ice cream cones bought each day compared to its temperature. In this study, we are calculating the correlation coefficient of the number of chirps a cricket makes per second and the temperature. This is another form of bivariate data since we are measuring the temperature, and we are measuring the chirps per second. For each temperature measure and corresponding chirps per second, we can graph it on a scatter plot and analyze it from there using things like the correlation... For instance, when looking at the number of people affected by cancer each year, and the number of deaths each year, these will have a direct cause and effect relationship indicating that it has a strong causation and correlation. The cricket situation doesn t happen to have a strong causation, while crickets do chirp faster when the temperature rises, it is only because the warm temperature gives them energy, and the energy is what makes crickets chirp ... • 37. Fidel Castro s Influence On Cuba In 1959 Castro launched his guerilla army into Havana to overthrow dictatorial leader of Cuba, Fulgencio Batista. Many Cubans welcomed Castro and his ideas to reduce American influence in Cuba. However, this power change became a concern for the Americans. Batista had been considered pro american and an ally of America. Castro on the other hand disapproved of the American approach to business and interests in Cubaand believed it was time for Cubans to assume control of their own nation. In 1960 Castro began to establish diplomatic relations with the Soviet Union, effectively severing former ties with the Americans. There was no way to overthrow Castro without a strong political opposition, and no such opposition was present inside or outside of Cuba. During the battle, Castro fought directly alongside his people, proving his loyalty to them and demonstrating the effectiveness of his personality by rallying his people behind him. He personally took charge of the defense, commanding troops, and air forces. Steadily the invaders were pushed back and inevitably surrendered. This battle was a substantial win for Castro, his revolution, and his people. With the loss of the invasion for America, came the solidification of power for Castro. Castro became a hero to his people, as the emergence of America as a foreign threat rallied the Cuban people behind Castro. After the invasion Castro and his army captured roughly 1100 men of the American protected Brigade 2506. In the late spring of 1961 Castro wanted to make a deal with the US, exchanging the prisoners for a ransom. Initially Castro requested agricultural equipment and 500 caterpillar type tractors , that were essentially bulldozers at a value of $28 million. The American government offered Castro much cheaper tractors valued at $17 million, which Castro found insulting. He told the Americans there would be no deal. • 38. Road Trip Research Paper Why didn t you put on some sunscreen? What were you thinking? These are some of the questions that arose on a long summer road trip. During the summer of 2016, my family and I went on a three week road trip starting in Chestertown, NY, and going as far west as Yellowstone National Park. The first stop on the trip was Niagara Falls. We went at night, and the water was lit up in various colors, it was pretty cool. These days heading out west were mainly long days in the truck followed up with even more long days in the truck. Before we went to on the trip, I thought that the trip down to Albany took forever, but a couple of fifteen plus hour drives going out west made going to Albany seem like it was just down the road. After two, maybe three days we were driving through Chicago at 3 in the morning (that s the time of night I saw several major cities along this trip) I thought it looked nice from what I could see, but then again it was 3 in the morning. That night, we didn t have any reservations, so we ended up trying to just spend the night in a Walmart parking lot on the outskirts of Chicago (what an idea). We tried to go to bed for like 10 mins, and I swear I could hear a gun firing off in the distance, and you could hear people walking by the camper, and not to mention the cop sirens you could hear too. We basically got back in the truck and left real quick. Next, we went north and ended up staying at a place on the Missouri River for a couple of nights. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Compare And Contrast Edmund Spenser And Sonnet 5 How does one gain immortality? According to Edmund Spenser (c. 1552 1599), William Shakespeare (1564 1616) and Michael Drayton (1563 1631) you do it through poetry. In their respective sonnets Sonnet 75 (One day I wrote her name upon the strand), Sonnet 18 (Shall I compare thee to a summer s day?) and Sonnet6 (How many paltry, foolish, painted things) they each tackle the topic of living forever through writing. While all three of these sonnets share the common subject matter of preserving someone through sonnets, do they present them in a similar manner? What senses do each poet use to get his point across? That will be the point of discussion in this essay, first looking at each of the sonnets separately and then comparing the different ways in which they appeal to the senses. Drayton s conflict seems to be on a more human level, as his focus is what women to come will think of his woman and how they will see her as superior. Unlike Spenser who preserves the object of his sonnet through the dialogue, Shakespeare preserves it through the visual imagery. Drayton also has a clear visual emphasis throughout his sonnet, even though his language has an added pride and sense of superiority to it that are not present in the others. While the object of his sonnet is their sex s only glory (Drayton, line 12) there is little to describe the woman herself, and more as to how others shall remember her in awe and how she will live on through his words. Vertical integration is the process of combining firms, usually under a single ownership, that are different parts of a larger production scale. This could be anything from two firms to all of the firms that make up the supply chain. Due to combining multiple smaller firms, this form of integration has an effect on the market power that the firm(s) has (Riordan, 2008). This differs to horizontal integration which is the combination of firms or expansion of a single firm at one particular point of the production process (Black, Hashimzade, Myles, 2009, p. 206 7). Vertical integrationis usually carried out in one of two ways. Upstream, which can be referred to as backwards, and downstream, or forward, and the definition is linked to the ... Although they will have a consistent buyer for their products the subsidiaries will have to receive a lower unit price for their products as a result of bringing down their costs after the integration. This is not a negative as the demand for their product is consistent and the fall in market price will be proportional to the fall in costs. As well as Smithfield, other meat and poultry production firms have benefitted from having highly integrated production chains such as Tyson, ConAgra and Swift (Pepall, Richards, Norman, 2008, p. 449). The integration of these firms is consistent with Lieberman s views (1991, p. 452) of why upstream integration may take place. The main reason which is applicable to this situation is that if the inputs in question account for a large proportion of total cost (which animals being bred for meat will do) then the downstream firm is more likely to integrate. Although all these firms are highly integrated and could offer much lower prices than they already do to the consumers they choose not to. Having a higher mark up allows them to receive higher profit margins from the lower input costs while keeping similar market prices for their final output. This is a form of non price ...
