I found that the part where I see this interfering with the elements most would be in
consequentialism. Consequentialism states that an action s morality can only be determined by
its direct consequences to you and everyone around you. I disagree with this. The best way to
show why is to give an example. Imagine a doctor in the middle of surgery. The patient they
have on the table is bleeding out and the chances to save them are 50 50. Now in the other
operating rooms, there are 3 patients that need immediate transplants to survive. Should the

the one. Take another example, let s say a simple promise. Imagine a friend asked you to make a

The domain of leadership theory and research has had many conceptualizations proposed over the
last few years (Avolio Bass, 2003). These conceptualizations seem to have generated recent interest
in the distinction among transformational, transactional, and laissez faire leadership research (Bass,
1990). Yukl (1998) noted that transformational leaders get followers to do as they desire by
transforming them or changing the followers themselves. According to Barlow, Jordan, and
Hendrix (2003), a transformational leader generates an image that awakens trust from subordinates

knowledge, skills, and material resources to accomplish that end. Unlike transformational leaders,
transactional leaders pursue a cost benefit exchange approach that does not change subordinates and
uses portion or organizational resources to meet subordinates needs in return for contracted needs

opposed, most theorists agree with Bass that they are not mutually exclusive. While

Queen Elizabeth I ruled England during a turbulent time in its history. She was beset on all
sides by those who wished to take her throne for themselves, whether it be through marriage or
outright treason. With these threats, as well as the unstable political atmosphere across much of
Europe, Elizabeth I could not afford for others to see her as weak. Although she distances herself
from the stereotypes of women at the time, and even paints herself as a masculine figure to give
herself an aura of strength that would deter potential usurpers, Elizabeth I s language indicates
that she is not ashamed of her femininity. The Renaissance was a point in history where it was
hard for women to hold political power. It was a commonly held belief that women were
inherently inferior monarchs; this was likely reinforced by a significant number of female rulers
failing to successfully rule their nations (Taylor Smither 48). Despite educational opportunities
for noble woman being at an all time high, women who held positions of power had to fight tooth

depressing, I m not too crazy about sick people anyway ,what made it more depressing , old
spencer had on this very sad , ratty old bathrobe that he was probably born in it or something, I
don t much like to see old guys in their pajamas and bathrobes anyway (11) this introduces us to
the way adults view Holden and the way he views them in return this a big lack of understanding

Sonnet 31 is an attempt to capture the sorrow and desolation experienced in heartache, through the
focal symbol of the poem, the moon. This acts as a metaphor for the narrator s deteriorated mental
state, evoking sympathy in the reader. Sidney s sonnet offers us an insight into the narrator s
anguish, brought into the reader s mind through his choice of form, rhyme and meter. Sonnet31
forms a part of Sidney s collection Astrophil and Stella, a sequence of 108 sonnets and 11 songs,
telling the story of the narrator Astrophil, chasing after his unrequited lover Stella. It has been said
the sonnet sequence is partly autobiographical; many believe it is based upon Sidney s own
feelings for Lady Penelope Rich. The name Astrophil translates to star crossed lover and Stella
means star, the continuation of this theme provides a route for all the sonnets to follow, Sonnet 31
being no exception as the reader witnesses our narrator finding solace in the moon.
As a reader we become instantly aware of the metaphorical qualities the moon holds. The poem
begins With how sad steps, Oh Moon, thou climb st the skies, the pathetic fallacy here giving
direction to the rest of the poem. The notion of the moon coming up signifies a transition from day
to night, light to dark, perhaps revealing the movement of Astrophil s mental state, from one of
peace to one of frustration and confusion. Sad steps (l.1) further exposes this idea as the
personification of the moon becomes noticeable.

Nursing is a field that many enter with the intention of helping and providing care to those with
mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Lombardo Eyre, 2011). Many consider nursing as
their calling; yet have not prepared themselves for the emotional and physical implications that
come from having interpersonal relationships with families and patients. As nurses care for the ill,
traumatized, and vulnerable patients in their charge, they inadvertently expose themselves to the
pain, suffering, and trauma that their patients are experiencing on a regular basis.
When the continued stress of this field is not dealt with, one can become a victim of the
overwhelming need that surrounds them, which can result in burnout or compassion fatigue. This
not only effects ones physical and emotional health, but also results in decreased productivity and
job satisfaction, as well as increasing job turnover rate (Lombardo Eyre, 2011; Boyle, 2011). This
concept is predominantly true of those working in the Emergency Department, and is actually
where the context of compassion fatigue was first noted approximately two decades ago, but is
also seen across the spectrum of health care providers in all areas (Boyle, 2011).
