Personal Reflection Of The Body
The ninth field exercise asked us to focus on the concept of bodies and how we present them to
society. I visited a Walmart and went to the personal care/hygiene section. While mapping the
store, I noticed that although the placement of most of the products made sense, the layout of the
store was a little strange. The first rows of makeup were at a strange angle, but the next couple
of rows were parallel to the rest of the rows in the store. I could not tell why they were angled that
way, as it seemed like it was just wasting space.
The personal care section seemed to into two categories: necessary health items and cosmetic
items. The first section I looked at was the health items. For the most part, they were all located
near each other. I noticed they had eye drops and contact solution next to each other, which are
meant to correct vision and dryness issues in the eyes. They also had foot gel inserts at the end of
the aisle, which I thought was an odd place to put them. These are used to help with foot and arch
support. In the opposite aisle there were baby shampoos and soaps, to aid in cleaning babies. The
next aisle had toothpaste and toothbrushes. A distinguishing characteristic of the toothpastes, were
the adjectives that accompanied them, such as whitening , protective , sensitive , and complete .
Toothbrushes and toothpastes are used to brush your teeth, in order to prevent cavities in your
mouth. The deodorant aisle also had condoms at the end, which seemed

The, The Inner World Of The Outcast
Essay 1: Fantastical Realities in the works of Tim Burton I get so tired of people saying, Oh,
you only make fantasy films and this and that , I m like Well no, fantasy is reality , that s what
Lewis Carroll showed in his work, spoke animator, writer, producer, and director Tim Burton in
regards to the themes of depression, isolation, and fear within his collection of work. Influenced by
Gothic fiction and the art and film movements of Expressionism, Surrealism, and Noir, Burton
crafts the inner world of the outcast and explores the ideas of Jungian and Freudian psychoanalysis
in his films, particularly in Vincent (1982), Beetlejuice (1988), and Edward Scissorhands(1990).
This paper will explore Burton s aesthetics of chiaroscuro lighting, color symbolism, and
composition to recreate the realism of human emotions through the eyes of a misunderstood
character s solitude in a highly fantastical world. Burton breaks conventions of narrative Hollywood
cinema and focuses less on the script, but largely on the psyche of the character and the visual outer
world that portrays their inner anxieties. Although, Burton s films are directly influenced by the
work of Fritz Lang, F.W. Murnau, Robert Wiene, and Salvador Dali, he creates his own auteur style
by mapping out the psychological journey of his characters through symbolic hand drawn concept
and costume designs that mirrors his own struggles of displacement throughout his life. In Tim

Yasukuni Shrine is really about? Do you wonder if the biased Chinese and American views on
Yasukuni actually defy it? Well look no further! The Yasukuni Shrine s purpose is to honor those
who died in Japan s Wars, not to start conflict. Countries like China, and South Korea criticize
Japanese Politician s Visits to Yasukuni because they fell victim to Japan s Aggressive Military

I Am A Man On Social Media
There was a soft wind blowing that morning. The birds were chirping in the trees and the glow of
the rising sun tinted the sky with shades of yellow and orange. As I walked to the car, I could feel
the soft breeze pass through my hair so gently as if an angel ran its fingers through each strand. I
paused for a moment to enjoy that delightful feelingbefore I began my journey to work.
On the way to work, began to think of the guy that has stolen my heart. Every song that played
reminded me of him. As I listened to Baby, Hold on to me by Gerald Levert, I began to envision
us looking into each other s eyes and slowly dancing the night away. I met this wonderful man on
social media. Never had I imagined that I would ever fall for someone that I have never met in
person. This man is one of a kind. He is handsome, intelligent, loving, and an all around good
guy. No one is perfect but he makes me feel as if I am in a fairytale; I am Cinderella and he is
Prince Charming. With his words he assures me that he is not here to hurt me but to cherish me.
With every passing day, I feel more connected to him than ever. After months of courting, he
called and notified me of a surprise that is coming for me. For days I wait anxiously for the
unknown surprise. Friday s are normally a quiet day in the office and this Friday was no
different. My morning was really slow and it was nearing my lunch break. While sitting at my
desk, I hear a knock on the door. I assumed it was a client arriving

Write An Essay On My Papaw
My Papaw, Ronald Christie Smith has inspired strength and in almost everyone he meets.
Whether it be helping around in a lower class house as a kid, working for his family after his father
s death, or even raising a family of six at such a young age, Ron has always been a major
stronghold for his family.
Ronald Ron/Ronnie Smith was born on March 26th, 1936. As a kid, Ronnie partook in many
activities outside such as hide and seek and nurse and Doctor with his only neighborhood friend.
On rainy days he would play Chinese checkers and play with a little metal car he still has today.
He went through elementary school with no thought of what he was doing or studying. Ron
dedicated his life to Christ at twelve years old and remembers going to church every Sunday and
Wednesday for as long as he can remember.
As a kid, Ron s economic situation was in the lower class system. As he says, we were dirt poor
but we didn t know it. He lived in a house under 1500ft2 with a dad that was a barber for men s
hair, and a mom who cooked, cleaned, and ironed in the house. Although his situation was a little
less than fortunate, Ronnie still got 6 10 gifts for his birthday and Christmas each, but he did
chores throughout the year to make up for it like walking the dog and taking out the trash. He ...

Whether it is an experience in which they face that day, or it is something that they hear, it will
always stay with them as the greatest moment in their life. In Looking for Alaska the characters
talk about their best and worst days in a drinking game made up by Alaska. To these characters,
their best days are with them all and each one has a special meaning to them. For Miles, he takes
a brief moment to think about it, then starts saying how his best day was the same day they
played the game. He described how everything that he did that day involved being with his new
friends from Culver Creek. To Miles, this is clearly his best day because he came to realize that
he finally has friends he can rely on and that he is not invisible to classmates, like he felt in
Florida. For these characters, the best days have helped them live their lives better and pickup
them up when they are down. With every best day in someone s life comes with a worst day.
Worst days will make you sad for a length of time and you will feel hopeless during these
stretches of time. People will come to see that worst days will involve the death of a loved one
in a family. There were two instances of this for characters in Looking for Alaska. Alaska had a
terrible loss of someone very close to her. After her and her mother went to the zoo, Alaska went
upstairs to do homework so she could watch TV later at night. She heard her mother scream then
fall down on the floor, where she held her head and started jerking around. Alaska freaked out
and thought that she should have called 911 but she laid there crying and figured her mother
had fallen asleep and waited for her father to come home. Her father came home and started yelling
at her and asked why she did not call 911 and tried to give her CPR, but it was too late. This event
in Alaska s life plays major roles in why she does things that she does. Worst days in people s lives

Spunk Zora Neale Hurston
Spunk Zora Neale Hurston s short story Spunk was a short story that immediately held my interest
from beginning to end. Hurston provided a gateway to life in her hometown that people could relate
to all over the country and has been able to not disconnect from an audience through the test of
time. I thought that it was interesting that Hurston decided to write a story using the dialect of a
small southern town rather than than proper english grammar and pronunciation. Hurston s
decision to use dialect to enhance her story and for me it brought the story to life. I could picture
the characters talking as it switched from the narrator to each individual , which gave more
personality to the person talking. Zora Neale HurstonWrote Spunk in a very similar setting as the

Zora Hurston also showed the depth of a community that might have been similar to the one she

townspeople in the story, but you could see how a black community was also very similar to many

Achieving Attainment And Second Language Acquisition
Introduction
In second language acquisition research, ultimate attainment refers to the outcome of acquisition,
interchangeably ultimate attainment is used with the terms final state.
It is found the ability to attain native like phonological skills in second language acquisition
begins to decline at the age of 6, and in many individuals before the later age of 12. It is found
that native like morphology and syntax is only possible for those under the age of 15 in second
language acquisition.
In most general terms second language acquisition (L2A) challenges the similarity to first language
acquisition (L1A). It is found that L1A is usually successful with all normal children, but in L2A
results can be controversial.

In Flege, Yeni Komshian and Liu (1999) individuals were required to live in the US for at least
eight years and Birdsong and Flege (2001) approximated at least ten years of residence for L2
ultimate attainment.
Although these estimates are granted, a resident that has lived in a country that is not their origin,
may have lived in the country for ten years or more and not been exposed to the language, in other
words are isolated from the native speakers. This would therefore mean that the individual will
more than likely not have reach the levels of L2 competence they are capable of. This tell us that
native likeness can have an impact on the ultimate attainment of L2 acquisition, because like L1
acquisition for children, a certain amount of what they learn is influenced by adult interaction.
The ultimate attainment should be native like in L2 acquisition, at least with respect to core
grammar. Universal grammar is a theory which provides restrictions on linguistic representation, it
places limitations on grammars, constraining their form and as well how they operate.
It is found from research that L2 learners are subject to universal grammar principles but cannot
reset parameters. (Clahsen and Muysken 1989; Liceras et al. 1997; Tsimpli and Roussou).
Where others argue that L1 settings prevail initially with subsequent acquisition of other values.

America s Postindustrial Western Culture
America s postindustrial western culture has afforded many citizens with a quality of life that that
can sometimes blind them from the realities of the social, political, and environmental injustices
that the majority of the world is suffering from. Sheltered from these exploited countries, we are
generally left to rely on the often bias and sensationalized media to inform our nation. Only when
destruction lies before us are we humbled and inspired to implement change. Events that open
unknowing eyes to vulnerability are the ones that shift the public interest. This catalyst can include

Though most are blaming the drought for these frustrating new norms, the farmers are not buying
it. Not with controversial legalities such as the Endangered Species Act blatantly standing in
between them and available water. Environmental regulations and the United States laws are
receiving backlash for their representation of the resources exploited by human production. Though
farmers and consumers will be forced to continue to adapt, regulations protecting highly
underrepresented species and habitats should not be overlooked in order for Americans to continue
to live blind to the fact that resources are limited. We can only resist adapting to accommodate
species other than ourselves for so long before reality humbles us to the point of our own
devastation.
The California Delta Smelt are a species of fish that exclusively inhabit the San Francisco Bay

threatened species depend and the species themselves, because rare species retain esthetic,

The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Fusion And Nuclear Fission
In the nuclear world, nuclear fission and nuclear fusion are two of the most basic concepts that
should be known in the nuclear family. Nuclear fusion and nuclear fission are very distinct from
each other.
In the modern world, nuclear fission is the fundamental process of a nuclear bomb and nuclear
reactor. The reaction produces a chain reaction of atom splitting that produces 24,000,000 kilowatts
per hour of energy. On the other hand, nuclear fusion is a reaction where two or more nuclei come
close enough to one another to create one or more atomic nuclei and subatomic nuclei. As a result,
this reaction produces a massive amount of energy; fusion reaction is the energy source of the sun,
the energy produced by fusion is the answer to why the sun is hot.
Presently, nuclear fusion and nuclear fission are being studied, and even used in some countries as
a power generator. The enormous energy produced by nuclear fission and fusion could light up a
big city for a hundred years or more and we do not have to worry about it polluting our
environment because nuclear energy is a green energy. Moreover, in a long term, the cost to
generate power using nuclear is far less than the cost of generating power using fossil fuel.
However, before heading towards a nuclear future, we have to learn the basics these two nuclear
reactions. This teaching document will only explain the basic nuclear fusion and nuclear fission
process description. Some technical jargon will be explained before the process description. There
will be an introduction to some of the types of subatomic particles, some talk about the nuclear
fusion mechanism, and a general description for the chain reaction.

1.An atomic particle is like a cell and nucleus is the control center of the cell. The nucleus is where
the mass of the atom and all of its subatomic particles is concentrated.

activities in the Ferguson area, The Denver Post reports. Police arrested 57 individuals for breaking

Technology becomes the backbone of industries in the 21st century. That being said, we believe
that in order for an industry to remain competitive in the business world, industries must be
adapted to the new era of e business technology. In this project, we identified several key factors
that we think are critical to MBB s success. Hence, the ultimate goals are to transform the
traditional business into e business, cut costs and generate revenues. It has been proven that
transforming to e business will not only increase sales, but also cut costs, generate sales, and

Friar in Canterbury Tales Essay
Friar in Canterbury Tales Chaucer s attitude towards the friar is one of sarcasm. The friar is
wanton and merry, but this pleasant sounding description is actually packed with mockery. By
the 14th century, friars, who were supposed to give up all worldly things and live only by
begging for food and alms, were almost totally corrupt. They were known for flattering the rich
and deceiving the poor, and especially for seducing women in outright disregard for their vow of
celibacy. Chaucer s Friar, Hubert, is a limiter, one who is licensed to beg in a certain area. He s
married off women giving each of his young women what he could afford her which implies that he
seduced them first. He s highly believed and intimate with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He knows all the bars and is more familiar with barmaids and innkeepers than the lepers or
beggars he s supposed to be soliciting for. Ideally, after buying necessities, friars were supposed to
donate to the poor and sick any leftover money from begging. To make it more ironic, Chaucer says
it s not right for someone of Hubert s profession to be acquainted with lepers, since after all there s
no money there but when it comes to the rich and the food sellers, suddenly he s courteous and
humble. He couldn t care less about giving money to charity.
His holy how d ye do is so pleasant that he can always get a farthing from her . Here it is clear
that the Friar gets more money from his illegal takings than his legal calling. He wears clothes
better suited to a pope than to the cloistered scholars with thread bare habit hardly worth a dollar,
but much more like a Doctor or a Pope . He also meddles in civil disputes out of court, to arbitrate
disputes on settling days (for a small fee) . Friars were allowed to represent the poor, but had strict
orders not to interfere in such cases. Hubert even lisps to make his English sound more appealing,
presumably to women, he lisped a little

The purpose of any budgeting or forecasting activity is to obtain a forward looking view of the

Everyone has access to Microsoft Excel and it is possible to build very effective budget systems
with this software. You need to be particularly aware of the risks of spreadsheets and the ease with
which errors can creep in.
Don t exclude the use of specialist budgeting software. Well implemented, it can dramatically
reduce timescales and improve accuracy. Look for a product that allows you to control different
versions of the budget and that integrates well both with Excel and your main business software.
In the first year of use, you need to allow plenty of time for implementation.
You will probably end up with myriad versions of the budget applying different assumptions. Keep

Review of Herbert Schlossberg s Book, Idols for...
Writing in the late 1980s, Herbert Schlossberg provides a thorough analysis of current trends in
American culture in his book Idols for Destruction: The Conflict of Christian Faith and American
Culture. Many scholars have examined Western civilization and concluded that we are in its
declining years. Some use analogies of space: rise, zenith, and fall; others use analogies of
biology: birth, maturity, and death. Schlossberg refuses to see all cultures as following these
patterns, but rather attempts to use the concept of judgment, based on the biblical example of the
prophets: With their silver and gold they made idols for their own destruction (Hos. 8:4). If the
idols are destroyed, and we return to worship the true God, we can expect... Show more content on

In dealing with idols of humanity and money, Schlossberg emphasizes the overarching role of
envy in Western societies. Envy is often the cause of what he calls resentiment (a term originating
with Nietzsche) a festering mental condition that wishes injury to someone whose possessions or
qualities are envied. Where a Christian ethic once encouraged an equality of opportunity, which
necessarily produces unequal results, resentiment desires an equality of results. So the gap
between the rich and the poor is seen as an evil in itself, and poverty is redefined from the lack of
food or other necessities to the lack of an affluent lifestyle. When combined with materialism, which
implies that wealth can be the only measure for quality of life, resentiment leads to all sorts of
redistributive policies: welfare, government induced inflation, credit assistance, corporate bailouts,
trade regulations, etc. However, these policies are deceptive, since they never actually help the
poor, but instead make them dependent, while at the same time enriching the people in charge of
the redistribution. They have become a legal form of stealing and one in which the majority of
people in Western society gladly participate. Idols of nature include the material and the immaterial.
Materialism claims that matter is all

Compare And Contrast In Another Country And Ambush
In both In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway and Ambush by Tim O Brien, there are
aspects that are similar. To get a clear aspect of what both texts look at, Hemingway writes about
a short story that is based on the impacts of World War I on soldiers. The short story mainly
focuses on how these particular soldiers experienced the traumatic event of having to participate in
the war which was both psychologically and physically harmful to them. In Ambush O Brien
narrates from a first person perspective of his account when he was a soldier, the story is based on
his last war story that aims at telling her daughter the truth when she gets older. The two texts have
a number of similarities and contrasts as well. In terms of the similarities,... Show more content on

The theme is similar to the one presented by Hemmingway because of the notion or concept used
to develop it. War is a common factor in both texts, seeing that in the text by Hemmingway, war
is the central theme while in Ambush, it has been used to develop the main theme of the text. O
Brien s regret is from throwing the grenade and having to kill all those people he killed. The
regret is from killing the soldiers and all he wished for was that the soldiers had just walked
away past him, that way he wouldn t have had to throw the grenade. In developing the theme, O
Brien uses visions to show the regret and also to contemplate on what would have happened if
things were to happen differently. The two stories were both similar in their story line which was
about war. However, the main themes in both stories differ. While one explores World War 1 and
the effects it had on the soldiers who played a part in it, the other explores the resentment one ex
soldier has for killing a soldier while at war and he wishes the circumstances were

THE ROLE OF LEARNING ORGANIZATION IN KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT PROCESS
Ph.D. Student B loi Ionu Cosmin University of Craiova Faculty of Economics and Business

Abstract: The content and the organization of work represent dimensions which do not only
involve mobilizing competencies but are also dimensions in which competencies are developed. In
an organization people create, accumulate or transfer knowledge, ideas, values, attitudes, feelings or
experiences. The goal of a learning organization is to improve competency diffusion, to enrich
them and to capitalize experiences. Chaos arises when the level of learning of the enterprise

If we refer to organizations and learning we must also mention what Reg Revans called Active
Learning, a method used for personal training, training specialists and organizational learning.
Grouped in small teams (named active learning groups) people approach important and learn from
achievements in order to change things. Active learning includes four elements: the person itself,
the active learning group, the respective problems and the measures taken in order to solve the
problems which allow learning. The set of values that organizations work with and which
constitutes the subject of learning is a complex one and has determined theoreticians to establish
conceptual hierarchies of knowledge. The model of the five levels 15 that we present below reflects
the progressive accumulation of the value of the data as they turn into competencies (see figure 1).
Therefore, it is obvious that the data are a priori than isolated elements. When elements are placed
into context and combined within a structure, the information acquires higher values. The
information acquires new meanings by interpretations and assimilations, thus turning into
knowledge. On this level, information is placed inside a mental structure and can be consciously

Program Implementation Of Public Policy
Program Implementation Steps Public policy may be defined as organizing framework of purposes
and rationales for government programs that deal with specified societal problems or a complex of
programs enacted and implemented by government. Program implementation is that set of activities
directed toward putting a program into effect. Three activities, in particular are significant in
program implementation. They are organization, interpretation and application. The activity of
organization is the establishment or rearrangement of resources units and methods for putting a
program into effect. This can happen in several ways. One is the creation of a totally new agency,
such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affair. Another is merging, upgrading, or dividing existing
agencies. More often, programs are assigned to existing agencies, which must still interpret and
apply the laws or regulations and develop appropriate implementation methods. Program
implementation starts broadly with the intention on the public interest, convenience, and needs.
Laws and regulations may be more or less specific in their details, goals, timelines, and intended
results. Thus, the responsible agency is in charge of developing operating guidelines and
substantive procedures. The agency has the opportunity to shape legislated programs and possibly
modifying congressional intent. Agencies responsible for implementing congressional and
presidential directives feel constant political pressure.

William Shakespeare s The Elizabethan Era
William Shakespeare, possibly the greatest writer in English language, had different views about
the world than most writers. Shakespeare completely disagreed with the Elizabethan society he
lived in and with the concept of time. He found his society s views unproductive and incorrect
and he believed that time should not be a part of life, since it causes too much harm. His work
showed how he viewed the concept of loveand friendship and how someone cannot live his or her
life properly without loving someone and being loved in return. Shakespeare s worldview and the
society he resided in become illuminated throughout his work, especially in his sonnets. His work
reflects the importance of love and friendship as well as his disagreement with time and the
Elizabethan Eras views. William Shakespeare lived his life and wrote his works during the
Elizabethan Era. His writing in his sonnets often differed with the Elizabethan worldview. For
example, the Elizabethan society believed in a strong hierarchal system. However, Shakespeare
often wrote about a strong female. And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare/ As any She belied
with false compare (Shakespeare, Sonnet130). Shakespeare believed that a female can be just as
strong, sometimes even stronger, than a male. His rejection of feminine qualities continue to
intrigue today s writers. Shakespeare s insistence through his speaker in Sonnet 130 to have a real,
flesh and blood mistress rather than an ideal goddess is

Eliot s The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock Essay
Individuals strive to be a part of the dominant culture in their society by being a member of the
governing group who is in the majority or has more power than other groups. No one wants to be an
outcast from their society because they do not fit into the mainstream social customs. Being that the
dominant cultureis accepted without any opposition, when members of groups that are not a part
of this already established culture are presented the possibility of conflicts or tensions might
arise. Either the individual themselves will feel a developed sense of anxiety over what others
will think or the rest of society will decide that they must do something to deal with this
individual s status. The characters of Homer in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and
Prufrock in T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrockare both portrayed as cultural outsiders.
Although the reason that they are seen as cultural outsiders is different, neither one of the
characters is truly accepted by the rest of the societies that they live in. Therefore, both characters
represent an individual who stands outside what is accepted by the majority of the population,
which results in varying tensions that are dealt with in their corresponding works. Following the
social norm is equivalent to partaking in the dominant culture. Those who do not conform to this
are a part of the counterculture which is a subgroup that opposes the lifestyle that is dominant in
society. However, the dominant

Catholic Christian. The people that one meets is quite interesting. I never can quite wrap my

try to find a conclusion on how a person ended up in a position where they have no food.
Standing face to face with a stranger and giving them what they need is one of the most
perplexing and gratifying sensation one can experience. At the very core of giving food to the
hungry is that you gave person hope that day, a chance to continue that day, but yet you know
nothing of that person. One does not know what the persons name is, what they like to do, where

ambiguous to me. I learned from the experience that people who are hungry or homeless are quite
numerous and that one might never know their story but that very fact is what makes such an act
unique. Giving food to the hungry is linked to Catholic teaching because that is one of the main

By jumping and crossing arms, she sinks to earth and then she rises. Strong steps and

Persuasive Essay On Technology Vs Technology
When we, as a society, are faced with a difficult question or even asked a question, our solution is
to go straight to technology. We have followed what s in trend for the longest time. That is the
world of the internet, T.V, and the convenience of our phones. A difficult thing for us to
understand was that nearly 30 years ago we did not have any of these things. How has this put an
effect on our minds? Do you think we have turned our minds into a computer, or do we just rely on
the answers to come right into our brains and have stopped thinking by ourselves?
In the book Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman talks a little bit about the book 1984, by
George Orwell and says how our rights to thinking might be taken away and how another author
named Aldous Huxley says that we might just hand them away for no reason. Both Orwell and
Huxley are English authors. Us as a society is allowing information to be fed to us by T.V., and
the internet blends opinions and facts together that we don t understand. Yet we process this
information, we build our thoughts and opinions around what the other misinformed people
insists is fact. But as a society we are aware of these lies and these facts that are not fully to its
truth. Because of this, when the truth does come out, we don t recognize the truth. Nicholas Carr

The Struggle Of Women By The Sherlock Holmes Stories By...
In crime fiction, many themes are encountered in crime stories, enabling the reader to reflect on the
cultural and moral values of the society. These stories discuss various topics such as race, ethnicity,
sexism, and femininity. In the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the
independence of women is shown as a conflict in society that must be solved and controlled by
men. This may be demonstrated by the poor representation of single women present in the Sherlock
Holmesstories, such as Mary Morstan and Irene Adler who are considered as a problem in this
society, because they do not have the presence of a male figure guiding them in their everyday
lives. In the stories, the issues caused by these women are redundantly resolved by marrying a man.
This implies an unacceptable prejudice towards the female gender.
Firstly, in the stories, single women who are alone appear to be problematic due to the lack of
men in their everyday lives. Mary Morstan is isolated, and must be saved by men, whereas Irene
Adler is presented as being a scandalous woman who must be restrained. As Mary Morstan first
approaches Holmes and Watson to state her case, she explains that her mother has deceased, her
father has disappeared, and that she does not have any other family member close by to be there
for her, therefore, she is alone. She says: My father was an Indian regiment, [...] My mother was
dead, and I had no relative in England. (Conan Doyle,

have criss crossed here, but here the same discussion is more looked from the prism of overall
security rather than arbitrarily which was the case earlier. 9.1 Isolated Execution Environment
Isolating execution also often referred as trusted execution environment (TEE) gives the device
and so the service and providers and OEMs the ability to run a software modules in complete
isolation from untrusted code. Executing code and data in complete isolation provides secrecy and
integrity of that module s code and data at run time. Conventional rich mobile... Show more content

they can t be accessed either by network attacks, physical tampering or access by unauthorized
software en tities in the device. Often embedded devices can be reprogrammed remotely as a part
of fixing bugs and adding new features. In due course, devices should ensure that attackers don t
attack and insert their own malicious code and hi jack confidential data as it flows through the
system. 9.3 Device Identification (via Remote Attestation) Remote attestation allows remote entity
to verify that a particular message orig inated from a particular software entity[18]. Putting this to
business terms, ser vice provides widely use remote attestation to make sure that the device they are

Ethical Issues In Incident At Morales
The video Incident at Morales shines light on many different ethical issues that come up in the
engineering profession. The three main ethical issues are the fact that ethical considerations are an
integral part of making engineering decisions, ethical obligations do not stop at state or national
boarders, and engineers should always strive to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
Other ethical issues brought up in the film are hiring workers that once worked for a competitor to
get an inside on how the company runs, and willingly using ingredients that you know the be
damaging. These all raise and ethical concern and can be applied to the main ethical theories. When
practicing engineering, ethical considerations are an integral part of making engineering decisions.
As an engineer, one makes numerous decisions on a daily basis. When making these decisions, is
important to always make sure the decisions being made are ethical. Right and wrong come up
often when making decisions. If the result of a potential decision would not be beneficial to society,
that decision should not be made. Although legal requirements may vary among states and nations,
ethical obligations do not stop at state of national borders. This is a very important ethical issue in
the engineering profession. There are many things in the engineering... Show more content on

I believe the most responsible issue is engineers should always strive to protect the health, safety,
and welfare of the public. The ethical issue impacted the events in many different ways. The
engineers got too focused on making money, and lost sight of making sure the welfare of the public
was protected. They did not think about important safety considerations when working through the
engineering process. If the engineers would have focused more on ensuring the health, safety, and
welfare of the public was protected, this incident could have been

Poverty In The United States Essay
As poverty spreads, there are carving broader arcs of desperation throughout the country. A rising
number of Americans are struggling to make it from one paycheck or unemployment check to the
next (Abramsky, 2012). In the United States, families and individuals are classified as being in
poverty if their annual money income before taxes and other deductions falls below the official
povertythresholds (Betson, 1977). According to the United StatesCensus Bureau, poverty is based
on the number of people in a family, and who share an income less than three times the cost of
food for that household. The recent United State recession has pushed the number of poor young
children to their highest levels of poverty since 1994. Poverty is more pervasive... Show more

The average rate of child poverty is lowest among Whites, but Asian children are less likely to be
poor than Blacks and Hispanics (Bratter and Kimbro, 2013). Although poverty is borne more
heavily by minorities, the notion that poverty is only a minority problem is a meth. (Abramsky,
2012). Poverty is not shared equally across different demographic groups. African Americans
children, Latino children, and children in mother only families are disproportionately poor
(Corcoran and Chaudry, 1977). About 47 million Americans of all color ethnicities and
backgrounds are living at or below the poverty line (Abramsky, 2012). While the poor are barely
protected by a frayed social safety net and often disengaged from the decision making processes
that structure their lives, confronting the root causes of poverty is discouraging and increasingly
urgent (Abramsky, 2012). Dramatic changes in the family, society, and the economy have altered
the lives of children. Children are now more likely to live with a single parent with low levels of
schooling and work experience making it more difficult for parents to support a family above the
poverty level (Corcoran and Chaudry,

  • 2. Personal Reflection Of The Body The ninth field exercise asked us to focus on the concept of bodies and how we present them to society. I visited a Walmart and went to the personal care/hygiene section. While mapping the store, I noticed that although the placement of most of the products made sense, the layout of the store was a little strange. The first rows of makeup were at a strange angle, but the next couple of rows were parallel to the rest of the rows in the store. I could not tell why they were angled that way, as it seemed like it was just wasting space. The personal care section seemed to into two categories: necessary health items and cosmetic items. The first section I looked at was the health items. For the most part, they were all located near each other. I noticed they had eye drops and contact solution next to each other, which are meant to correct vision and dryness issues in the eyes. They also had foot gel inserts at the end of the aisle, which I thought was an odd place to put them. These are used to help with foot and arch support. In the opposite aisle there were baby shampoos and soaps, to aid in cleaning babies. The next aisle had toothpaste and toothbrushes. A distinguishing characteristic of the toothpastes, were the adjectives that accompanied them, such as whitening , protective , sensitive , and complete . Toothbrushes and toothpastes are used to brush your teeth, in order to prevent cavities in your mouth. The deodorant aisle also had condoms at the end, which seemed ... The, The Inner World Of The Outcast Essay 1: Fantastical Realities in the works of Tim Burton I get so tired of people saying, Oh, you only make fantasy films and this and that , I m like Well no, fantasy is reality , that s what Lewis Carroll showed in his work, spoke animator, writer, producer, and director Tim Burton in regards to the themes of depression, isolation, and fear within his collection of work. Influenced by Gothic fiction and the art and film movements of Expressionism, Surrealism, and Noir, Burton crafts the inner world of the outcast and explores the ideas of Jungian and Freudian psychoanalysis in his films, particularly in Vincent (1982), Beetlejuice (1988), and Edward Scissorhands(1990). This paper will explore Burton s aesthetics of chiaroscuro lighting, color symbolism, and composition to recreate the realism of human emotions through the eyes of a misunderstood character s solitude in a highly fantastical world. Burton breaks conventions of narrative Hollywood cinema and focuses less on the script, but largely on the psyche of the character and the visual outer world that portrays their inner anxieties. Although, Burton s films are directly influenced by the work of Fritz Lang, F.W. Murnau, Robert Wiene, and Salvador Dali, he creates his own auteur style by mapping out the psychological journey of his characters through symbolic hand drawn concept and costume designs that mirrors his own struggles of displacement throughout his life. Although these estimates are granted, a resident that has lived in a country that is not their origin, may have lived in the country for ten years or more and not been exposed to the language, in other words are isolated from the native speakers. This would therefore mean that the individual will more than likely not have reach the levels of L2 competence they are capable of. The ultimate attainment should be native like in L2 acquisition, at least with respect to core grammar. Universal grammar is a theory which provides restrictions on linguistic representation, it places limitations on grammars, constraining their form and as well how they operate. • 16. The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Fusion And Nuclear Fission In the nuclear world, nuclear fission and nuclear fusion are two of the most basic concepts that should be known in the nuclear family. Nuclear fusion and nuclear fission are very distinct from each other. In the modern world, nuclear fission is the fundamental process of a nuclear bomb and nuclear reactor. The reaction produces a chain reaction of atom splitting that produces 24,000,000 kilowatts per hour of energy. On the other hand, nuclear fusion is a reaction where two or more nuclei come close enough to one another to create one or more atomic nuclei and subatomic nuclei. As a result, this reaction produces a massive amount of energy; fusion reaction is the energy source of the sun, the energy produced by fusion is the answer to why the sun is hot. Presently, nuclear fusion and nuclear fission are being studied, and even used in some countries as a power generator. The enormous energy produced by nuclear fission and fusion could light up a big city for a hundred years or more and we do not have to worry about it polluting our environment because nuclear energy is a green energy. Moreover, in a long term, the cost to generate power using nuclear is far less than the cost of generating power using fossil fuel. However, before heading towards a nuclear future, we have to learn the basics these two nuclear reactions. This teaching document will only explain the basic nuclear fusion and nuclear fission process description. Some technical jargon will be explained before the process description. Many scholars have examined Western civilization and concluded that we are in its declining years. Some use analogies of space: rise, zenith, and fall; others use analogies of biology: birth, maturity, and death. Schlossberg refuses to see all cultures as following these patterns, but rather attempts to use the concept of judgment, based on the biblical example of the prophets: With their silver and gold they made idols for their own destruction (Hos. 8:4). If the idols are destroyed, and we return to worship the true God, we can expect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In dealing with idols of humanity and money, Schlossberg emphasizes the overarching role of envy in Western societies. Envy is often the cause of what he calls resentiment (a term originating with Nietzsche) a festering mental condition that wishes injury to someone whose possessions or qualities are envied. Where a Christian ethic once encouraged an equality of opportunity, which necessarily produces unequal results, resentiment desires an equality of results. So the gap between the rich and the poor is seen as an evil in itself, and poverty is redefined from the lack of food or other necessities to the lack of an affluent lifestyle. When combined with materialism, which implies that wealth can be the only measure for quality of life, resentiment leads to all sorts of redistributive policies: welfare, government induced inflation, credit assistance, corporate bailouts, trade regulations, etc. However, these policies are deceptive, since they never actually help the poor, but instead make them dependent, while at the same time enriching the people in charge of the redistribution. They have become a legal form of stealing and one in which the majority of people in Western society gladly participate. Idols of nature include the material and the immaterial. Materialism claims that matter is all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Compare And Contrast In Another Country And Ambush In both In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway and Ambush by Tim O Brien, there are aspects that are similar. To get a clear aspect of what both texts look at, Hemingway writes about a short story that is based on the impacts of World War I on soldiers. The short story mainly focuses on how these particular soldiers experienced the traumatic event of having to participate in the war which was both psychologically and physically harmful to them. In Ambush O Brien narrates from a first person perspective of his account when he was a soldier, the story is based on his last war story that aims at telling her daughter the truth when she gets older. O Brien s regret is from throwing the grenade and having to kill all those people he killed. The regret is from killing the soldiers and all he wished for was that the soldiers had just walked away past him, that way he wouldn t have had to throw the grenade. In developing the theme, O Brien uses visions to show the regret and also to contemplate on what would have happened if things were to happen differently. The two stories were both similar in their story line which was about war. However, the main themes in both stories differ. In an organization people create, accumulate or transfer knowledge, ideas, values, attitudes, feelings or experiences. If we refer to organizations and learning we must also mention what Reg Revans called Active Learning, a method used for personal training, training specialists and organizational learning. Grouped in small teams (named active learning groups) people approach important and learn from achievements in order to change things. Active learning includes four elements: the person itself, the active learning group, the respective problems and the measures taken in order to solve the problems which allow learning. The set of values that organizations work with and which constitutes the subject of learning is a complex one and has determined theoreticians to establish conceptual hierarchies of knowledge. The model of the five levels 15 that we present below reflects the progressive accumulation of the value of the data as they turn into competencies (see figure 1). Therefore, it is obvious that the data are a priori than isolated elements. When elements are placed into context and combined within a structure, the information acquires higher values. The information acquires new meanings by interpretations and assimilations, thus turning into knowledge. On this level, information is placed inside a mental structure and can be consciously used, for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Program Implementation Of Public Policy Program Implementation Steps Public policy may be defined as organizing framework of purposes and rationales for government programs that deal with specified societal problems or a complex of programs enacted and implemented by government. Program implementation is that set of activities directed toward putting a program into effect. Three activities, in particular are significant in program implementation. They are organization, interpretation and application. The activity of organization is the establishment or rearrangement of resources units and methods for putting a program into effect. This can happen in several ways. One is the creation of a totally new agency, such as the U.S. Department of Veterans Affair. Another is merging, upgrading, or dividing existing agencies. More often, programs are assigned to existing agencies, which must still interpret and apply the laws or regulations and develop appropriate implementation methods. Program implementation starts broadly with the intention on the public interest, convenience, and needs. Laws and regulations may be more or less specific in their details, goals, timelines, and intended results. No one wants to be an outcast from their society because they do not fit into the mainstream social customs. Being that the dominant cultureis accepted without any opposition, when members of groups that are not a part of this already established culture are presented the possibility of conflicts or tensions might arise. Either the individual themselves will feel a developed sense of anxiety over what others will think or the rest of society will decide that they must do something to deal with this individual s status. The characters of Homer in William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily and Prufrock in T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrockare both portrayed as cultural outsiders. Although the reason that they are seen as cultural outsiders is different, neither one of the characters is truly accepted by the rest of the societies that they live in. Therefore, both characters represent an individual who stands outside what is accepted by the majority of the population, which results in varying tensions that are dealt with in their corresponding works. In crime fiction, many themes are encountered in crime stories, enabling the reader to reflect on the cultural and moral values of the society. These stories discuss various topics such as race, ethnicity, sexism, and femininity. In the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the independence of women is shown as a conflict in society that must be solved and controlled by men. This may be demonstrated by the poor representation of single women present in the Sherlock Holmesstories, such as Mary Morstan and Irene Adler who are considered as a problem in this society, because they do not have the presence of a male figure guiding them in their everyday lives. In the stories, the issues caused by these women are redundantly resolved by marrying a man. This implies an unacceptable prejudice towards the female gender. Firstly, in the stories, single women who are alone appear to be problematic due to the lack of men in their everyday lives. Mary Morstan is isolated, and must be saved by men, whereas Irene Adler is presented as being a scandalous woman who must be restrained. As Mary Morstan first approaches Holmes and Watson to state her case, she explains that her mother has deceased, her father has disappeared, and that she does not have any other family member close by to be there for her, therefore, she is alone. Poverty is not shared equally across different demographic groups. African Americans children, Latino children, and children in mother only families are disproportionately poor (Corcoran and Chaudry, 1977). About 47 million Americans of all color ethnicities and backgrounds are living at or below the poverty line (Abramsky, 2012).
