Statues of David Essay
There have been many staues of David sculpted by famous artists like Donatello, Verrocchio, and
Michelangelo. Bernini s version of David and is about to begin his attack on Goliath, as he appears
posing. The statue seems to be moving through space and the action suggests that the action of
flinging the stone requires a lot of room around David. The statue forces the observer to look past
the actual subject and focus more on the surroundings. He seems to have very muscular legs, and
appears to be ready to turn and throw a stone from his sling. This is the most dramatic pose that
Bernini could have picked and was chosen because it shows a sudden burst of energy and a
moment of suspense as well. Bernini s David is different from that of... Show more content on

In addition, it is different from the narrative form that Bernini created. Verrocchio shows David
standing over the giant s head with pride. This bears resembles Donatello s David where David is
standing with a foot on top of his oppressor.
Michelangelo was another artisan who portrayed David in a unique matter. He didn t represent
David standing over a defeated Goliath, but instead made him look like he was patiently
awaiting his enemy. The body has a very classical form and is muscular and very tense. The
form makes David look powerful. Michelangelo made David very strong with well defined
features, iand even included enlarged hands to show the viewer of the strength that David had
before attacking Goliath. Unlike other versions at the time, Michelangelo didn t create a version of
a prideful David, but instead a David who was amongst or aware of his enemy.
Donatellos, Verrochio s, and Michelangelo s figures compare in the sense that none of them show
any physical activity and are shown as prideful as they stand over oppressors. Bernini s rendition
of David is unique in the sense that he creates a more narrative figure instead of one that is poised
and more classical in style. Protestants strongly believed that imagery presented in the church could
cause people to venerate figures in statues rather than focus all their attention on God during the

Decision Analysis Study
Introduction
This paper will Be providinG a memo that includes many Tasks related To project planning and
operations management. All memos are present accordingly to the separated tasks discussed. We
will be using the case study of Shuzworld . As the operations consultant for Shuzworld, we will be
following all the tasks and then will provide Recommendations by analyzing the problems given in
the task prompts. We will also apply the appropriate decision analysis tool to make reliable and
valid Recommendations.

The profitability problem is one of the most important problems of future profitability when
opening a new store process and is the important content of the course of operation management.
By recommending the use of this crucial tool, we need to understand, that this will give Shuzworld
a direction, to which one of the three options is the best (the stand alone option, opening of a brand
new store or to do nothing now) for the most cost effectively and profitability option.
Also I am recommending this tool, because the decision tree analysis process, which are of great
importance in the industrial production of high quantity standardized products (Shoes, sandals, etc)
and lately has gained importance in the low volume production of customized products. Due to the
high capital requirements when looking for the opening of a new store, decision tree analysis is of
great relevance for the manufacturing business. Because of it, this attracted the attention of the
manufacturing industry, who tried to support practical cost effectively analysis by using the proper
profitability models.
Now, we will analyzed, which one of the three options is the most cost effective and profitable,
than the other two. To finally be able to make the proper recommendation. We need to find out,
which one of the exact EMV, in which process (option), will become more cost effective and

Unit 7 Deuteronomy 6
Unit #7 Biblical Reflection
In Deuteronomy 6, Moses reminded the people of Israel about all that the Lord had and would
continue to do for them. He also reminded them that the Lord is the only true God, and He
demands complete devotion from His people. If the Israelites obeyed the commands of the Lord,
He would cause life to ...go well with you..., and the Israelites would ...increase greatly in a land
flowing with milk and honey... (Deut. 6:3). However, the Lord would punish disobedience with
disaster. Thus, Moses described the Lord as gracious and benevolent, but He is also the rightful
ruler and judge of all peoples. He alone is God, and He demands to be worshipped as such. Over
one thousand years later, the apostle Paul discussed some of the same attributes of God in his
letter to the Corinthians. Specifically, in the first few verses of chapter 8, Paul discussed the
authority of the Lord as the one true God, and he declared that ...whoever loves God is known by
God (1 Corinth. 8:3). Interestingly, in Paul s brief discussion of the authority of God, he
referenced and expounded upon the Shema, which Moses had initially declared in Deuteronomy 6.
The Shema proclaims Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one (Deut. 6:4). Paul further
explained that There is no God but one (1 Corinth. 8:4b), but the one true ... Show more content on

Moreover, an understanding of the various roles of the Godhead also provides comfort as we
serve God in our individual lives. For example, knowing that the Spirit is our permanent, always
present guide and comforter is a tremendous encouragement. A proper view of the Trinityis also
critical as we share the Gospel with others: because the doctrine of the Trinity informs our worship,
we must be able to articulate this doctrine to others so that they can rightly relate to and worship

Definition Of Success In The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
In The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Jeannette to most people is considered successful, while
her parents are not. The odd thing is that it is all perspective and the parents find themselves
successful. This is a difference in how people constitute success. There is no set definition to

Successcan vary in many different fields as well, like family, money, fame, religion, sports and
anything else your mind can think of. The Glass Castlecan be seen as a success story even though

The Different Levels Of Law Enforcement
The Different Levels of Law Enforcement in the United States There are three different level of law
enforcement within the United States who penalizes citizens who violate them. These agencies
include federal, state, and local law enforcement who conducts operation on different levels. Each
law enforcement agency is assigned specific duties within their jurisdiction. In order to maintain
peace and order within the United Stateslaw enforcement officers are called to duty to serve day in
and day out to protect public safety. Some believe that law enforcement is unorganized. However,
these different agencies aide each other in certain situation to makes sure the mission is
accomplished. For example, there are wide ranged federal law enforcement agencies that operate
within the United States and Internationally. They include the Federal Bureau of Investigations

I do not think that there should be a specific duty which should be assigned to any agency. They
should maintain cooperation with each other in order to maintain balance and order with their
respective duties in law enforcement.
I think the multiple layers of police agencies within the United States benefits and provides better
outcome for the community as a whole. This has allowed some communities to gain the police
trust making it a part of the solution. However, a regional police force which would include
different participants from all communities could be useful during certain cases. For example, a
drug dealer is wanted in one city and is known to operate elsewhere within the state. The local law
enforcement has a lead but cannot execute a warrant based on the limitation of the authority it has.
A special organized crime unit (regional) could be assembled including the different officers from
all communities to serve this

Carleton of the Union Army would oversee the process of destroying Native American powers
throughout the Territory until his reassignment in 1867. The Navajo s or DinГ© , in their
language, were one such power that Carleton set about destroying. The process of destruction took
many forms as the tribes faced both physical and cultural assaults from the American military,
while the New Mexican citizens, and rival tribes of Native Americans engaged in raids, attacks,
and taking captives from the Navajos. In its final stage, this destruction took form as Bosque

Bosque Redondo and Fort Sumner were located together where there had been a grove of

last step to Indian removal in the area, seeking to drive the Navajos from their homeland to the
reservation by way of violence. Furthermore, he made various attempts to have it explained to
the Navajos that Bosque Redondo was their only means of salvation. To Navajo chiefs
Barboncito and Delgadito, Carlton wished it explained that those Navajos who claimed not to be
guilty of murder and robbery, that for their own preservation and as a means of validating their
innocence, must come to Bosque Redondo as a means of separating themselves from the guilty

the Navajos, and that they must explain the conditions by which surrender could be accepted,
stating that if approached by Navajos seeking peace it should be explained to them that they

Obergefell Vs. Hodges Case
Same sex marriage has always been a sore spot in American Politics. Republicans used the
religion card as the stanzas for disapproval, while Democrats fought to allow the freedom to love
who we love in this world. The Obergefell vs. Hodges case legalized same sex marriage
throughout all fifty states. The fight to legalize same sex marriagehad been ongoing since the early
nineties. With the right to for lasting legal bonds until and after death do them part, questions
remain. What made this case so much more effective than those that proceeded it? In what ways
are the right to marry whom we want being protected? And with the current elected officials, will
this ruling stand or be overturned? The Obergefell vs. Hodges case originated with a same sex

This being said the court could have taken another route to answer a completely different
question, if the Constitution doesn t require states to grant marriage licenses to same sex
couples, does it at least require every state to recognize same sex marriages consecrated in
another state? (Teicholz 1) . This questioned seemed to have more fluidity to it instead of
granting total upscale domination to states not yet pardoning same sex marriage. If the officials
were to have gone this route, couples of same sexes orientation who married in a state that
allowed for a legal marriage yet lived in one that didn t, the state of residence would at least have
to acknowledge the marriage as binding and legal. With time this idea would have allowed for
slow acceptance for conservative based states to come to terms with the idea of legal marriage
between same sex partners. It would also give Obergefell the ability to be placed on his deceased
husband s death certificate. With the gravity of both answers the court still dragged

How to Respond to Major Natural Disasters by Remote Sensing
How to respond to major natural disaster by using Remote Sensing
Introduction
The increasingly frequent disasters in the world are damaging people s property and security.
Moreover, the catastrophes bring massive negative effects on the development of society. In the
meanwhile, it is impossible to obtain the accurate data of disaster areas by traditional observations or
detection modes. Though natural disaster is a tough problem to human beings, remote sensing (RS)
could help people better deal with it. According to Mei (2008), remote sensing is a reliable
method of measurement which could acquire information about the property of a phenomenon
or object by an observation device which is not in physical contact with the phenomenon or
object under study. For example, bats are good users of RS. They can emit super sonic waves at
25000 70000 Hz and receive the acoustic echo by which means they can locate their prey and
navigate. There are two main categories of RS data: aerial data and satellite data. High precision
is the most advantage of airborne images. Unlike aerial data, satellite data aim at collecting
information from wide range of areas.
There are numerous incomparable advantages of RS which could help respond to natural
calamities, such as wide field of view, non contact and low cost. The advanced technology could
fulfill ample tasks because of its various kinds of probes. For instance, thermal infrared probes
could collect information to predict earthquake and

Megan McArdle states During the time when people are supposed to be learning to face an
often hard world as adults, and going through the often uncomfortable process of building their

their beliefs or recall unpleasant facts to their mind. If you are removed from anything that goes
against your beliefs, then you won t be able to adapt to the really world. The real world is all

Short Story On The Roof Woof
Woof, woof! is a simple expression of feeling that makes my day better. You most likely already

Dogs every day pass on to a better life than what we gave them. At least that s what I believe in. I
believe in an afterlife for all. Humans and animals all deserve a better life. But when you think
about it, dogs have feelings and can feel pain too. Leaving dogs outside this season is wrong, and
you need to do something about it.
Let them at least go outside and do their business, but take them inside and wrap them up in a

Nathan Bedford Forrest And Thomas Jackson Essay
Nathan Bedford Forrest and Thomas Jackson, both where extraordinary individuals living for the
cause which they saw fit.
General Nathan Bedford Forrest was a man born with determination and Grit. He started off with
nothing and lost his father when he was only 16 years old. He lived with his uncle for some time
but before long his uncle was killed in the streets over a dispute. Forrest then rode out in search of
those who killed his uncle, hunted them down and killed two of the murders. At the break out of
the American Civil WarForrest who sided with the confederacy, was quite a wealthy man owning
his own plantation with slaves. Forrest brought along 45 slaves. They fought just as any other
soldier in the Confederate army. This always interested me that General Forrest placed his men
together both black and white and they were all one body of men united, while the Union army had
segregated units for African Americans.
On the field of battle Forrest was a magnificent fighter, and a very Tactical Commander. He fought
in battles like Shiloh in Chickamauga. Here is the crazy part about General Nathan Bedford
Forrest when he served as a general in the Confederate Army.
He had 29 horses shot out from under him he killed Thirty union men with his own hands. If that

The Copyright Law Of Canada Connected With An Ethical Line...
This paper discusses the copyright law in Canada connected with an ethical line in music sharing.
Before embarking on the discussion, it is imperative to understand what copyright entails under the
umbrella of intellectual property; the latter refers to intangible property, which is entirely a creation
of the mind (Alexander Penalver, 2012, p. 188). Copyrightis the exclusive right granted to the
original author of literary work. In this effect, it prevents other people from using an authorship
without authorization by the original author. The latter grants license for the reproduction of
copies of the work, its usage, as well as distribution in lieu of some fee, i.e. royalty. Merges (2011)

After the period elapses, any person can use, print, publish, and distribute the original work. The
music industry has been in dispute for many years in respect to music piracy. It went after
software and website developers, as well as consumers in the courts (Easley, 2005, p.163). As a
result, this may be why governing the expansion of the music industry towards later benefits for
the industry; however, not toward those who pirate from them (Easley, 2005, p.163). There is
clear evidence of a willingness to pay for online music in general through legal download services
such as iTunes (Easley, 2005, p.163). It is clear that some new markets are emerging; for example,
services such as 4G LTE combine music with other services. These markets may provide both better
margins and better copyright protection to the music industry. Nevertheless, some forms of music
piracy may ultimately come to be seen as an effective marketing channel for those services (Easley,
2005, p.163). Clearly the industry is adapting piracy issues. Based on the information mentioned
above, the objective of this paper is to emphasize the ethical dimensions of sharing music in the
Canadian context. There are different ways of such sharing like burning, lending, downloading, and
uploading among others. The argument is that burning and downloading are unethical while

Pros And Cons Of Xenotransplantation In Australia
INTRODUCTION Allotransplantation is the prime treatment available to humans with
damaged organs (Cowan, 2011). However, due to a shortage of suitable organ donors,
approximately 100 Australians die each year while waiting to receive an organ transplant
(McCredie, 2010). To fulfil the need for organs, transplant specialists use the method of cross
species transplantation, also known as xenotransplantation. Xenotransplantation involves
grafting or transplanting live organs (heart, kidney, liver etc.), tissues (skin tissues) or a
collection of specialised cells (pancreatic cells, brain cells etc.) from one species to another (i.e.
pig to human)(NHMRC, 2002). Along with any risks to the recipient of the transplant,
xenotransplant carries risks for the community as well. The general public is concerned about
viruses transmitted through a transplanted organ from animals to humans which makes this
topic a social and ethical issue. Hence, the government imposed a temporary ban of 5 years on
xenotransplantation in Australia and New Zealand in 2004 (Vincent, 2009)(Writers, 2010).
This essay argues if xenotransplantation should be banned permanently in Australia by equally
considering the advantages and disadvantages of the treatment. BIOLOGICAL
BACKGROUND To obtain organs for xenotransplantation, pigs are considered the most suitable
species because their organs are of similar size to those of humans (NHMRC, 2002). An example
of xenotransplantation is growing a human pancreas in a pig for a patient suffering from chronic
pancreatitis. This process of producing chimeric pigs is described below: The DNA of a
fertilised pig embryo (1 day old) containing the gene responsible to grow pancreas is removed for
gene deletion. Cas9, a DNA cutting enzyme, snips a section of DNA using a complimentary guide
RNA which is used to identify the gene of interest (TRTWorld, 2016)(Belfast, 2016). Deleting this
section results in pig foetus unable to grow a pancreas. Image.1 Step.1 of Xenotransplantation

blood or skin cells which have been reprogrammed to an embryonic pluripotent state. This

How To Write A Paper On Totem Poles
Did you ever wonder what these scary looking figures were that was on totem poles? Totem poles

unicorn, monkey, elephant, lotus, dolphin, dog and the color blue because they represent my story.
The first item I chose was the unicorn. I chose this because it represents my positivity and
creativity. This majestic animal is unique just like me. Everyone is different in their own ways, just

The fourth item is a lotus flower. I chose a lotus flower because it symbolizes my calm and

beautiful but once you observe more you can see all the little details that make up this flower.
Despite the fact that a lotus begins on a muddy surface. It grows up to be a beautiful flower.

not enjoy happiness that results from the immoral, discriminatory victimization of someone
else. Upon first look, the city of Omelas seems like a fairy tale utopia where everyone is happy,
yet underneath this veil of splendor, there is a child that is neglected and abused to the point of
where some people are so sickened that they must leave Omelas. All of Omelas s glamour and
joy depends solely on the suffering of this child, and if the child were to be rescued, all goodness
in Omelas would be destroyed. The people of Omelas know that theirs is no vapid irresponsible
happiness. They know that they, like the child, are not free (47). The passage reveals that the
people fully understand the terms of the child s misery.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, their happiness is not even true happiness because it is constantly shadowed by the
knowledge of the child s suffering, and yet paradoxically, they feel morally obligated to be
happy for the sake of the child. In a sense, they are so bound to the child that they do not have
any more freedom than the child itself. In contrast, there are also people who are so disturbed by
this dark secret of the child that they leave Omelas...toward [a] place...that [possibly] does not
exist. But they seem to know where they are going (47). To leave Omelas for the unknown would
need considerable courage, but they know that they will never be truly happy staying in Omelas.
Just like how the people of Omelas know that the joy built upon successful slaughter is not the
right kind of joy, those who leave understand that happiness at the expense of a scapegoat, such as
the child, is also not the right kind of joy

Production in Nigeria has also increased in cost. This leads to the downfall of industries. The
devaluation of currency is a major plank of World Bank and IMF policies for the development
of the economies of Third World countries. Nigeria s compliance with this demand was allegedly
tied to further rescheduling of Nigeria s external debt and fresh aids. Purchasing power of
citizens would reduce with increases in price level and this would worsen the pervasiveness of
poverty. Speculative activities in the economy will increase as a result of instability. REVIEW OF
RELEVANT LITERATURE There is a vast body of empirical literature on the impacts of
devaluation on output and prices. In many of the existing studies, it has been recognized that the
possible effects of devaluation on output could be contractionary. To this extent, several channels
through which devaluation could be contractionary have been identified. First, Diaz Alejandro
(1965) examined the impacts of devaluation on some macroeconomic variables in Argentina for the
period 1955 61. He observed that devaluation was contractionary for Argentina because it induces a
shift in income distribution towards savers, which in turn depresses consumption and real
absorption. He equally observed that current account improved because of the fall in absorption
relative to output. Cooper (1971) also reviewed twenty four

Sherlock Holmes and Dupin are both very good detectives, however they both have their merits and
disadvantages. In this essay I will argue that Sherlock Holmes makes a better Detective than Dupin.
Dupin is arrogant, selfish, and imaginative, while Sherlock Holmes is Selfless, Confident, and he is
also imaginative like Dupin, but he does not let that imagination interfere with is work. Even
though Dupin and Sherlock Holmesboth have merit with imagination, Sherlocks ability to not let

Gospel Of Luke And Mark Differences Essay
One of the biggest differences between the Gospel of Mark and the Gospel of Luke is the length.
The Gospel of Luke goes more in depth of the life of Jesus; in the Gospel of Luke, there is a section
about Jesus as a child, Lk 2:41 52. Jesus birth and childhood is omitted from the Gospel of Mark,
Marks Gospelstarts with Jesusas an adult. The Gospel of Mark is a more condensed version of the
accounts of Jesus s life. There are also differences between the Gospel of Matthew and the Gospel
of Luke. The Gospel of Luke begins with a Dedication to Theophilus, in this dedication; the author
tells Theophilus that he has constructed this gospel after much research. Both Matthew and Mark
do not have this dedication. Also, the Gospel of Matthew omits the birth of John the Baptist, but
the Gospel of Luke has it. Another difference between Matthew and Luke is the genealogy. Both
gospels have some account Jesus genealogy but The Gospel of Mathews is longer (Mt 1:1 18); the
Gospel of Luke is shorter and happens much later on (Lk 3:23 38).... Show more content on

Prologue (1:1 15), mission in and around Galilee (1:16 8:26), journey to Jerusalem (8:27 10:52),
and the mission in Jerusalem and the passion narrative and resurrection (11:1 16:8). One of the
differences between the Gospel of Luke and the Gospel of Mark is that the Gospel of Mark puts
the Passion Narrative and journey to Jerusalem together; but, the Gospel of Luke, separates the
two. Other differences are minor, the Gospel of Luke includes Jesus childhood and the Gospel of
Mark does not; the Gospel of Luke is longer than the Gospel of

Overview Of The Jinn
Introduction
The topic of Jinn in Islam is definitely a fascinating one, as man has an innate curiosity about the
supernatural and unseen. Unfortunately, this topic is also one that is replete with misconceptions.
This essay will explore the world of the Jinn through the Qur aan and authentic Sunnah.
Creation and Existence of Jinn
The Jinn possess some characteristics of human beings, such as the ability to think and reflect and
the ability to choose between good and evil, but they are different in their origin and creation. We
are informed by Allah that the Jinn are created from fire:
And the jinn, We have created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. (Qur aan 55:27)

The teacher said, What would you do if you passed by some sheep and the sheepdog kept barking
at you and kept you from continuing on your way?
He replied, I would keep on until I drove him off.
The teacher said, You should ask the shepherd s help in keeping the dog away from you!
This analogy teaches us the best way to protect oneself: by seeking refuge and protection in Allah.
We are equipped with many weapons against Shaytaan and the Jinn in general from the Sunnah.
These include being in constant remembrance of Allah, seeking refuge in Allah before entering the
bathroom, reciting the Qur aan or sleeping, as well as the last two Surahs of the Qur aan and Ayatul
Kursi.
Conclusion
The world of the Jinn is one which is both sinister and intriguing. Knowing about it can explain
many of the mysteries of the seen world. By learning the monotheism of Allah, we defend ourselves
from these hidden allies of

Urbanization And Urbanization
Urbanization has been a universal huge ordeal that has been going on everywhere for some time
now, and puts a huge strain on infrastructure, economics, and the order of a society making it hard
to maintain sustainability. Urban Sprawl is the uncontrolled expansion of urban areas, and has
recently become an important issue here in Kennesaw Georgia. Urban Sprawl also known as
Urbanization has caused problems here such as air pollution, due to the amount of trafficdaily,
construction due to the rapid growth, economic slowdowns, car accidents, etc. It is rare to travel
to a location 10 miles away in less than 30 minutes due to the abundance of traffic on the
interstates and on the roads. The lines of automobiles at red lights are outrageous, and it s
common to see stand still traffic at green lights because of road blockages from cars not moving
efficiently due to the timing of traffic lights. All these events: Lights not working efficiently,
traffic backed up, and construction, has led to an increase in car accidents due to confusion,
which has contributed to traffic as you guessed, but the problem is in many situations the ones
injured have to wait for extended periods of times due to traffic, killing the efficiency of local
emergency services. The infrastructure here is definitely not considered efficient for the
population. The population in Kennesaw has increased nearly 35% since the year 2000 which is a
huge spike according to (kennesaw ga.gov.) This spike is due to

ALL AMERICAN PIPELINE CASE WRITE UP
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The business nature of the project pipelines affected many of our assumptions and approaches to
our calculations for our ultimate decision. The case provided two sets of cost estimates from an
outside consultant and from Goodyear after hiring a general contractor. We utilized both sets of
costs that directed us to the same decision that Goodyear should not go ahead with the Pipeline
Project.
Once we obtained the UFCF, the terminal value was calculated in three different ways, treating the
pipeline as an asset on our books, finding the value of project if cash flows are received for
perpetuity an finding the annuity value of cash flows for 30 years by assuming that after 1992 cash

We made projections and calculations using estimates of Goodyear s contractors as well as did a
sensitivity test using the data of outside consultants, and the negative NPVs of both the projects
showed that Goodyear should not go ahead with the project.
ASSUMPTIONS
Working Capital:
In the CF statement given, no separate values for working capital accounts are given so the
calculations are done assuming working capital to be 0.
Contingency:
We disregarded contingency. We did not treat it as a cash component of working capital or as a
capitalized expense because it was unclear in the case if the contingency was ever spent.
Growth:
We assume that the revenues from pipelines grow at the rate of inflationwhich is 5%, after reaching
capacity.
Tax credit:
We assume that Goodyear benefits from tax credits from this project and therefore the benefit is
added to the cash flows.
For calculating terminal value:
Using the Asset Method
The Depreciable PPE calculated for North American Pipeline was sum of total cap ex in 1985
and 1986 excluding the land and right of way, contingency fund. 50% of Investment tax credit was
not subtracted from the value of depreciable PPE because it does not affect the value of assets.
This is unlike the calculation done for tax purpose, as shown in Exhibit 8.
As mentioned in the case, PPE is depreciated on a straight line method for 30 years, for calculating
the remaining asset worth.

Examples Of Mechanical Inelasticity In Modern Times
Henri Bergson believes mechanical inelasticity (Bergson ) is essential to laughter. In Chaplin s
movie Modern Times, there are many illustrations of such technique that not only composes
humorous but also contribute to its theme capitalists exploit low social status workers. After giving
the very basic elements of laughter: lack of emotions, connection to human traits, relationship to
social context Bergson introduces mechanical inelasticity as the main cause of his main idea
regard to laughter. Inelasticity is rigidness. When people are insensitive to changes and remains
the last state of their bodies, their bodies are lack of elasticity. The example provided by Bergson is

People laugh harder at his clumsiness when he screws his coworker s nose than when, during his
first break, he keeps the screwing movement without the wrenches. This scene serves crucial role
in the movie. It shows both sarcasm and humorous. The president is a representation of the upper
class people. He has power; he controls the speed of the assembly lines. He is cruelcurial; he cares
only about the profit and exploits the workers like they are machines. While the mechanical
movement rises laughter, it also exposes the dark society during the great depression.
A similar example is the scene which Tramp wears skates and is being robbed when he is the night
watchman of a department store. The robbers threaten him with a gun and ask him to stay where he
is, but Tramp cannot control his own movement wearing the skates. He stumbles and falls. The
robbers fire and break the wine cask. Tramp becomes drunk and even harder to control his
movement. His movements when he should stay still are the prolonged momentum during
inappropriate situations. People laugh at his inability to control himself, which is exactly the

Tupac said that, number one, when this song came out, no male rappers at all anywhere were

By using abstract words to describe these long suffering patients, Mayes forces dramatic images
into the reader s mind. While reading the book The Discovery of Poetry by Frances Mayes, I
learned a lot about figurative imagery. Figurative imagery is used throughout Edward Mayes
poem to make connections between two ideas we typically would not associate with one
another. A concrete example of figurative imagery in Mayes poem is found in the line that reads,
Men looking like they had been/attacked repeatedly by a succession /of wild animals. I know
that these patients most likely had not been attacked by wild animals over and over again, but
when the speaker plants these images in a reader s mind, the suffering that these patients have
endured become more realistic to the reader. Sometimes using figurative imagery is much more
effective than using a literal image. Mayes wants readers to know how ill some of the patients
are. He goes on by describing the 200 miles of scars of a patient and how a boy who [had] shot
his face off. Mayes figurative images make a stronger point because they are so blunt. He doesn t
seem to beat around the bush; he tells every detail exactly how the speaker saw it. This poem
would not give readers the same powerful emotions without the intense imagery and literary tropes
Mayes utilizes. Toward the end of the poem, the speaker

Not Being Earnest in The Importance of Being Earnest
While some critics contend that The Importance of Being Earnest is completely fanciful and has
no relation to the real world, others maintain that Oscar Wilde s trivial comedy for serious people
does make significant comments about social class and the institution of marriage. These
observations include the prevalent utilization of deceit in everyday affairs. Indeed the characters
and plot of the play appear to be entirely irreverent, thus lending weight to the comedic, fanciful
aspect. However, this same factor also serves to illuminate the major points that Wilde tries to
convey about the English society in which he lived. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wilde s conception of deceit as an accepted custom in English aristocracy is also existent in this
scene. The practice of Bunburying is established, an act where each man lies to his family about an
imaginary invalid friend present somewhere else, in an attempt to pursue leisure activities
elsewhere. It is in this discussion that Jack admits to his friend Algernon that he has been lying to
his friend in order to maintain the disguise. Thus, it seems as though the very relationship between
the two men is founded on deceit. Later in this act, Lady Bracknell and Gwendolyn are introduced.
Even though Lady Bracknell is married, it is obvious that the two women are merely female
counterparts of Algy and Jack. Both spend the day making visits to others in their social sphere, as
Algy and Jack do, holding these visits with utmost importance.
It is at this point, also, that the reader is presented with Wilde s views of marriage practices. Earlier
in the scene, when Ernest(Jack) announces his intention of proposing to Gwendolyn, Algernon does
not congratulate him, rather he denounces the entire institution. At Ernest s announcement of the
proposal, Algy exclaims, I thought you had come up for pleasure? I call that business . Later, Algy
s comments support the idea of adultery once one is married. When Ernest finally does propose to
Gwendolyn, he first must proceed through established flirting rituals

Streetcar Named Desire Critical Analysis
The second day of the show, On October 11th, 2017. I had an opportunity of seeing one of
Tennessee Williams s playwright, A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Stephen Thomas.
Performed excellently at Tarrant County College Northeast Playhouse. The purpose of my visit
was to learn about all aspects of theatre, from basic acting skills to technical designing. Also, this
was my first time attended to watch a live performance by the college student.
A Streetcar Named Desire is the story about of a girl named Blanche DuBois, travels from the town
of Laurel to live with her sister in the New Orleans French Quarter. Her sister, Stella live in a two
room flat with her brother in law, Stanley Kowalski. She finds Stanley vulgar, boisterous, and
dominant husband. However, Stanley does not like her presence and thinks that Blanche comes
with a secret. Unfortunately, they do not like each other. Stanley feels that while she is staying

India does not have one consolidated Consumer Price Index, instead we have different indices
for different population groups each giving more weightage to the goods consumed by members
of the respective group. Earlier India had separate CPIs for Industrial Workers, Agricultural
Labourers, Rural Labourers and Urban Non Manual Employees. However, the last index has
been replaced in 2011, by one that measures prices changes in goods and services consumed by
the rural and urban population. We used the Consumer Price Index as opposed to using the price
data from the Wholesale Price Index as the later measures wholesale price changes whereas we
are mainly interested in studying variations in retail or consumer s purchase prices for the
purpose of this project. Hence, we obtained price data from the Labour Bureau of India website.
The price index we used was Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers. This was chosen as it
is the index mostly widely used for calculating salaries and allowances and as our product, being
part of individual s diets, will be a major constituent of the expenditure incurred by consumers and
calculating arbitrage possibilities using consumer prices from this index seemed most

Business Decision of River s Dance School Essay
Business Decision of River s Dance School
When making a drastic business decision such as the one proposed by River s Dance School, it is
important to go about making the decision in the appropriate manner, through the use of a formal
decision making model process. This should be done with the aid of relevant information generated
in the accounting process and through an evaluation of the effectiveness of the dance school s
ownership structure.
When deciding whether or not to close the River s Dance School, it is in the best interests for
Dana and David to follow a formal decision making process such as the CACE decision making
model.

Having established the problem, Dana and David now need to gather any information relevant to
the problem that may aid them in making a decision.
This step in the CACE decision making model is where the accounting process plays a vital part.
The final step of the accounting process in which final reports are prepared provides Dana and
David with the opportunity to analyse and interpret these reports, calculate ratios and compare these
with the industry average providing them with necessary information regarding the profitability of
Rivers Dance School. These reports include a statement of financial performance, which shows
revenue earned and expenses incurred calculating the businesses profit and loss. Other statements
prepared in this part of the accounting process are also necessary as they may enable Dana and
David to see what the business may have done differently in the past three years that has resulted in
the change in profitability.
Other information sourced outside of the accounting process may also be of help such as the
management of competitors businesses or student feedback. Having gathered all the relevant
information, Dana and David must now put aside the idea of closing the business for the moment
and first look at ways of improving the schools profitability and solving the problems of the
business, while meeting its objectives, using information gathered.

Examples Of Causative Verbs
Causative verb is used when talking about something that someone else did for another person. It
means that the subject caused the action to happen, but didn t do it themselves. Maybe they paid,
or asked, or persuaded the other person to do it. Causative verbs express an action which is
caused to happen. In other words, when someone has something done for me him cause it to
happen. In other words, he does not actually do anything, but asks someone else to do it for him.
This is the sense of causative verbs. Intermediate to advanced level English learners should study
the causative verbas an alternative to the passive voice (Dixon, R.M.W. 2000b:87).

In The devil made me do it. the verb made causes the do to happen. Here is a brief list of
causative verbs, in no particular order: let, help, allow, have, require, allow, motivate, get, make,
convince, hire, assist, encourage, permit, employ, force. Most of them are followed by an object
(noun or pronoun) followed by an infinitive: She allows her pet cockatiel to perch on the
windowsill. She hired a carpenter to build a new birdcage (Ibid:65 68) . Three causative verbs
are exceptions to the pattern described above. Instead of being followed by a noun/pronoun and
an infinitive, the causative verbs have, make and let are followed by a noun/pronoun and the base
form of the verb (which is actually an infinitive with the to left off). Causative verbs also indicate
that some person or thing helps to bring about a new state of affairs In other words, a causative
verb shows that someone or something somehow causes something to happen. The verb might be
strong in meaning and imply force. The Longman Grammar of Spoken and Written English divides

Food Safety And Food Security
Food Safety
Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. It is usually of plant or
animal origin, and contains essential nutrients, such as fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals. The
substance is ingested and passed by organism s cells to provide energy, maintain life, or stimulate
growth. Historically, people secured food through two methods: hunting and gathering and
agriculture. Today, the majority of the food energy required by the ever increasing population of
the world is supplied by the food industry. Food safety and food security are monitored by agencies

Fungi are used in the preparation of fermented and pickled foods like alcoholic drinks, cheese,
pickles, and yogurt. Food products produced by animals include milk produced by mammary
glands, which in many cultures is drunk or processed into dairy products . In addition, birds and
other animals lay eggs, which are often eaten, and bees produce honey, a reduced nectar from
flowers, which is a popular sweetener in many cultures. Some cultures and people do not consume
meat or animal food products for cultural, dietary, health, ethical, or ideological reasons.
Vegetarians choose to forgo food from animal sources to varying degrees. Vegans do not consume
any foods that are or contain ingredients from an animal source. Production Most food has always
been obtained through agriculture. With increasing concern over both the methods and products of
modern industrial agriculture, there has been a growing trend toward sustainable agricultural
practices. In popular culture, the mass production of food, specifically meats such as chicken and
beef, has come under fire from various documentaries, most recently Food, Inc, documenting the
mass slaughter and poor treatment of animals, often for easier revenues from large corporations.
Several organisations have begun calling for a new kind of agriculture in which agroecosystems
provide food but also support vital ecosystem services so that

Are Your Thoughts Your Own Analysis
Are Your Thoughts Your Own? In today s technology based society, there arises a question. How
much do the everyday things that we do affect us. If we were to take an inventory of how much
media we let ourselves be influenced by every day, we would be shocked. When you read a book,
watch television, or look at a magazine, you are opening your mindto the opinions represented.
However, it is not the obvious messages that are the most dangerous. The scariest opinions are the
ones that are hidden in subtle messages that maybe only the subconscious picks up on. There are
many ways that a person can be influenced to change their ideas, thoughts, and even personal
beliefs. In the article Media s Use of Propaganda to Persuade People s Attitude, Beliefs... Show

The Models Of Fayol And Barnard Essay
Introduction
In this essay, I will analyse and compare the traditional models of Fayol and Barnard together
with the more contemporary model of McGregor. The theories will be linked with my personal
working experience by which I will demonstrate their relevance and role in practice. The essay will
try to critically analyse and explain the differences between the three models and their applicability
in today s modern business environment. At the end, I will give my perspective of what management
might mean for contemporary business organisations.
In short, my working experience comes from the hospitality sector where I have been working
the most. The name of the company is ASA Recruitment which is a Scottish based company that
basically search and recruit stuff members for other businesses in plenty of sectors including
hospitality, engineering, accountability and others. I am a temporary worker on a zero hours
contract, and work within various hospitality events in Glasgow. The way it works is my
consultant Greg offers me shifts via a text message or a phone call for various locations, and
then I would be working with different managers or supervisors depending on the place. In the
essay, I would talk about Greg s approach as well as some of the managers/ supervisors on the
working place. My role varies, but it is mostly a waiter, a bartender, or a hospitality assistant who
just helps with the organisation of the event and sometimes leads a small team.
Barnard s theory

A Time That Has Changed The Life Of Farmers
In a time that was not that long ago, in a village that wasnt that far from this one. There live a
young boy, Skylar, and his parents. They lived the hardworking life of farmers. They worked
from sunup to sundown, only stopping to eat a simple lunch of bread and water. On there good
days they may even have the luxury of an apple. Skylar s parents could not afford to pay help while
Skylar was in school, and he told them that he did not want them to struggle for him. So he never
went. This devastated him. But he would never tell anyone, or let it show. He knew if he did, he
would break his parent s heats. One day while walking to the market to get the water from the
town well and the food for the day he started to think about books and his farming chores. He was
no longer paying attention to where he was going and he bumped into someone. Skylar
frantically said Oof. Sorry, sorry. I wasn t looking where.. as he spoke he looked up and saw a girl
around the same age as him. He had seen her around town before but never really noticed her. Oh
no. Its entirely my fault. I was reading my book on the way to school. I wasn t watching where I
was going. She sounded very flustered as she gathered up her school books and her lunch.
He thought to himself I suppose this is what people call pretty.
Her curly blonde hair was tied down in pigtails. She was wearing a simple blue dress with a white
ribbon around the middle of her dress the ends of which met in the middle of her

  • 2. Statues of David Essay There have been many staues of David sculpted by famous artists like Donatello, Verrocchio, and Michelangelo. Bernini s version of David and is about to begin his attack on Goliath, as he appears posing. The statue seems to be moving through space and the action suggests that the action of flinging the stone requires a lot of room around David. The statue forces the observer to look past the actual subject and focus more on the surroundings. He seems to have very muscular legs, and appears to be ready to turn and throw a stone from his sling. This is the most dramatic pose that Bernini could have picked and was chosen because it shows a sudden burst of energy and a moment of suspense as well. Bernini s David is different from that of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, it is different from the narrative form that Bernini created. Verrocchio shows David standing over the giant s head with pride. This bears resembles Donatello s David where David is standing with a foot on top of his oppressor. Michelangelo was another artisan who portrayed David in a unique matter. He didn t represent David standing over a defeated Goliath, but instead made him look like he was patiently awaiting his enemy. The body has a very classical form and is muscular and very tense. The form makes David look powerful. Michelangelo made David very strong with well defined features, iand even included enlarged hands to show the viewer of the strength that David had before attacking Goliath. Unlike other versions at the time, Michelangelo didn t create a version of a prideful David, but instead a David who was amongst or aware of his enemy. Donatellos, Verrochio s, and Michelangelo s figures compare in the sense that none of them show any physical activity and are shown as prideful as they stand over oppressors. Bernini s rendition of David is unique in the sense that he creates a more narrative figure instead of one that is poised and more classical in style. Protestants strongly believed that imagery presented in the church could cause people to venerate figures in statues rather than focus all their attention on God during the ... The profitability problem is one of the most important problems of future profitability when opening a new store process and is the important content of the course of operation management. By recommending the use of this crucial tool, we need to understand, that this will give Shuzworld a direction, to which one of the three options is the best (the stand alone option, opening of a brand new store or to do nothing now) for the most cost effectively and profitability option. Also I am recommending this tool, because the decision tree analysis process, which are of great importance in the industrial production of high quantity standardized products (Shoes, sandals, etc) and lately has gained importance in the low volume production of customized products. Due to the high capital requirements when looking for the opening of a new store, decision tree analysis is of great relevance for the manufacturing business. Because of it, this attracted the attention of the manufacturing industry, who tried to support practical cost effectively analysis by using the proper profitability models. Now, we will analyzed, which one of the three options is the most cost effective and profitable, than the other two. To finally be able to make the proper recommendation. • 5. Unit 7 Deuteronomy 6 Unit #7 Biblical Reflection In Deuteronomy 6, Moses reminded the people of Israel about all that the Lord had and would continue to do for them. He also reminded them that the Lord is the only true God, and He demands complete devotion from His people. If the Israelites obeyed the commands of the Lord, He would cause life to ...go well with you..., and the Israelites would ...increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey... (Deut. 6:3). However, the Lord would punish disobedience with disaster. Thus, Moses described the Lord as gracious and benevolent, but He is also the rightful ruler and judge of all peoples. He alone is God, and He demands to be worshipped as such. Over one thousand years later, the apostle Paul discussed some of the same attributes of God in his letter to the Corinthians. Specifically, in the first few verses of chapter 8, Paul discussed the authority of the Lord as the one true God, and he declared that ...whoever loves God is known by God (1 Corinth. 8:3). Interestingly, in Paul s brief discussion of the authority of God, he referenced and expounded upon the Shema, which Moses had initially declared in Deuteronomy 6. The Shema proclaims Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one (Deut. 6:4). Paul further explained that There is no God but one (1 Corinth. 8:4b), but the one true ... • 11. How to Respond to Major Natural Disasters by Remote Sensing How to respond to major natural disaster by using Remote Sensing Introduction The increasingly frequent disasters in the world are damaging people s property and security. Moreover, the catastrophes bring massive negative effects on the development of society. In the meanwhile, it is impossible to obtain the accurate data of disaster areas by traditional observations or detection modes. Though natural disaster is a tough problem to human beings, remote sensing (RS) could help people better deal with it. According to Mei (2008), remote sensing is a reliable method of measurement which could acquire information about the property of a phenomenon or object by an observation device which is not in physical contact with the phenomenon or object under study. For example, bats are good users of RS. They can emit super sonic waves at 25000 70000 Hz and receive the acoustic echo by which means they can locate their prey and navigate. There are two main categories of RS data: aerial data and satellite data. High precision is the most advantage of airborne images. Unlike aerial data, satellite data aim at collecting information from wide range of areas. There are numerous incomparable advantages of RS which could help respond to natural calamities, such as wide field of view, non contact and low cost. The advanced technology could fulfill ample tasks because of its various kinds of probes. For instance, thermal infrared probes could collect information to predict earthquake and ... If you are removed from anything that goes against your beliefs, then you won t be able to adapt to the really world. General Nathan Bedford Forrest was a man born with determination and Grit. He started off with nothing and lost his father when he was only 16 years old. He lived with his uncle for some time but before long his uncle was killed in the streets over a dispute. Forrest then rode out in search of those who killed his uncle, hunted them down and killed two of the murders. At the break out of the American Civil WarForrest who sided with the confederacy, was quite a wealthy man owning his own plantation with slaves. Forrest brought along 45 slaves. They fought just as any other soldier in the Confederate army. This always interested me that General Forrest placed his men together both black and white and they were all one body of men united, while the Union army had segregated units for African Americans. On the field of battle Forrest was a magnificent fighter, and a very Tactical Commander. He fought in battles like Shiloh in Chickamauga. Here is the crazy part about General Nathan Bedford Forrest when he served as a general in the Confederate Army. He had 29 horses shot out from under him he killed Thirty union men with his own hands. • 16. The Copyright Law Of Canada Connected With An Ethical Line... This paper discusses the copyright law in Canada connected with an ethical line in music sharing. Before embarking on the discussion, it is imperative to understand what copyright entails under the umbrella of intellectual property; the latter refers to intangible property, which is entirely a creation of the mind (Alexander Penalver, 2012, p. 188). Copyrightis the exclusive right granted to the original author of literary work. In this effect, it prevents other people from using an authorship without authorization by the original author. The latter grants license for the reproduction of copies of the work, its usage, as well as distribution in lieu of some fee, i.e. royalty. As a result, this may be why governing the expansion of the music industry towards later benefits for the industry; however, not toward those who pirate from them (Easley, 2005, p.163). There is clear evidence of a willingness to pay for online music in general through legal download services such as iTunes (Easley, 2005, p.163). It is clear that some new markets are emerging; for example, services such as 4G LTE combine music with other services. These markets may provide both better margins and better copyright protection to the music industry. Nevertheless, some forms of music piracy may ultimately come to be seen as an effective marketing channel for those services (Easley, 2005, p.163). Clearly the industry is adapting piracy issues. Based on the information mentioned above, the objective of this paper is to emphasize the ethical dimensions of sharing music in the Canadian context. • 17. Pros And Cons Of Xenotransplantation In Australia INTRODUCTION Allotransplantation is the prime treatment available to humans with damaged organs (Cowan, 2011). However, due to a shortage of suitable organ donors, approximately 100 Australians die each year while waiting to receive an organ transplant (McCredie, 2010). To fulfil the need for organs, transplant specialists use the method of cross species transplantation, also known as xenotransplantation. Xenotransplantation involves grafting or transplanting live organs (heart, kidney, liver etc.), tissues (skin tissues) or a collection of specialised cells (pancreatic cells, brain cells etc.) from one species to another (i.e. pig to human)(NHMRC, 2002). Along with any risks to the recipient of the transplant, xenotransplant carries risks for the community as well. The general public is concerned about viruses transmitted through a transplanted organ from animals to humans which makes this topic a social and ethical issue. Hence, the government imposed a temporary ban of 5 years on xenotransplantation in Australia and New Zealand in 2004 (Vincent, 2009)(Writers, 2010). This essay argues if xenotransplantation should be banned permanently in Australia by equally considering the advantages and disadvantages of the treatment. BIOLOGICAL BACKGROUND To obtain organs for xenotransplantation, pigs are considered the most suitable species because their organs are of similar size to those of humans (NHMRC, 2002). An example of xenotransplantation is growing a human pancreas in a pig for a patient suffering from chronic pancreatitis. This process of producing chimeric pigs is described below: The DNA of a fertilised pig embryo (1 day old) containing the gene responsible to grow pancreas is removed for gene deletion. Cas9, a DNA cutting enzyme, snips a section of DNA using a complimentary guide RNA which is used to identify the gene of interest (TRTWorld, 2016)(Belfast, 2016). Deleting this section results in pig foetus unable to grow a pancreas. Image.1 Step.1 of Xenotransplantation Genetic Modification. Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPS Cells) are derived from the patient s blood or skin cells which have been reprogrammed to an embryonic pluripotent state. This reprogramming allows the iPS ... The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas Rhetorical Analysis In The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas, the author Le Guin establishes the idea that one can not enjoy happiness that results from the immoral, discriminatory victimization of someone else. Upon first look, the city of Omelas seems like a fairy tale utopia where everyone is happy, yet underneath this veil of splendor, there is a child that is neglected and abused to the point of where some people are so sickened that they must leave Omelas. All of Omelas s glamour and joy depends solely on the suffering of this child, and if the child were to be rescued, all goodness in Omelas would be destroyed. In contrast, there are also people who are so disturbed by this dark secret of the child that they leave Omelas...toward [a] place...that [possibly] does not exist. But they seem to know where they are going (47). To leave Omelas for the unknown would need considerable courage, but they know that they will never be truly happy staying in Omelas. In many of the existing studies, it has been recognized that the possible effects of devaluation on output could be contractionary. To this extent, several channels through which devaluation could be contractionary have been identified. First, Diaz Alejandro (1965) examined the impacts of devaluation on some macroeconomic variables in Argentina for the period 1955 61. He observed that devaluation was contractionary for Argentina because it induces a shift in income distribution towards savers, which in turn depresses consumption and real absorption. I know that these patients most likely had not been attacked by wild animals over and over again, but when the speaker plants these images in a reader s mind, the suffering that these patients have endured become more realistic to the reader. Not Being Earnest in The Importance of Being Earnest While some critics contend that The Importance of Being Earnest is completely fanciful and has no relation to the real world, others maintain that Oscar Wilde s trivial comedy for serious people does make significant comments about social class and the institution of marriage. These observations include the prevalent utilization of deceit in everyday affairs. Indeed the characters and plot of the play appear to be entirely irreverent, thus lending weight to the comedic, fanciful aspect. However, this same factor also serves to illuminate the major points that Wilde tries to convey about the English society in which he lived. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wilde s conception of deceit as an accepted custom in English aristocracy is also existent in this scene. The practice of Bunburying is established, an act where each man lies to his family about an imaginary invalid friend present somewhere else, in an attempt to pursue leisure activities elsewhere. It is in this discussion that Jack admits to his friend Algernon that he has been lying to his friend in order to maintain the disguise. Thus, it seems as though the very relationship between the two men is founded on deceit. Later in this act, Lady Bracknell and Gwendolyn are introduced. Even though Lady Bracknell is married, it is obvious that the two women are merely female counterparts of Algy and Jack. Both spend the day making visits to others in their social sphere, as Algy and Jack do, holding these visits with utmost importance. It is at this point, also, that the reader is presented with Wilde s views of marriage practices. Earlier in the scene, when Ernest(Jack) announces his intention of proposing to Gwendolyn, Algernon does not congratulate him, rather he denounces the entire institution. At Ernest s announcement of the proposal, Algy exclaims, I thought you had come up for pleasure? I call that business . Later, Algy s comments support the idea of adultery once one is married. When Ernest finally does propose to Gwendolyn, he first must proceed through established flirting rituals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Streetcar Named Desire Critical Analysis The second day of the show, On October 11th, 2017. I had an opportunity of seeing one of Tennessee Williams s playwright, A Streetcar Named Desire, directed by Stephen Thomas. Performed excellently at Tarrant County College Northeast Playhouse. The purpose of my visit was to learn about all aspects of theatre, from basic acting skills to technical designing. Also, this was my first time attended to watch a live performance by the college student. A Streetcar Named Desire is the story about of a girl named Blanche DuBois, travels from the town of Laurel to live with her sister in the New Orleans French Quarter. Her sister, Stella live in a two room flat with her brother in law, Stanley Kowalski. She finds Stanley vulgar, boisterous, and dominant husband. However, Stanley does not like her presence and thinks that Blanche comes with a secret. Unfortunately, they do not like each other. Stanley feels that while she is staying with them, Blanche tries to convince Stella that he is loud and rough as common. He wants Blanche to leave, so he gives her a bus ticket back to Laurel for her birthday. Later on, Stanley gossips to Stella that he has gathered on Blanche, telling her about what did Blanche do in the past. At the end of the play, he brutally rapes Blanche, while Stella is at the hospital with their first child. Blanche becomes psychotic crisis by destroying her both physically and mentally from what Stanley did to her. Blanche tells the truth about Stanley s assault to Stella, but her sister disbelieves her. Blanche has suffered a complete mental breakdown and is to be committed to a mental hospital. The genre of the play is the domestic drama that mentions the concept of human desire in the form of an adult content and situations. A technique such as physical acting, suspense, and the violence are used throughout the play. All these techniques need to be applied successfully in order to create the atmosphere intended. By using the technique of suspense, it builds up a state of mental insecurity, uncertainty or excitement within the person. Alongside this adding the technique of anticipation gives the audience the impression that something is going to happen, but didn t know what or when therefore building ...
