The Growing Critiques of MBA Programs
Recently critiques about MBA programs have increased in number. Many believe that management
education focuses on learning of managerial skills that are needed in current ever changing business
environment. Research conducted in the past suggested that individuals with a Master s degree in
Business Administration generally perform better in managerial positions than those who do not
hold an MBA degree (Baruch Peiperl, 2000). In a dissenting view however, the author noted that an
MBA qualification does not adequately equip students with both soft and hard skills which are
needed for effective management. In addition, Researchers argue that in management education, the
soft skills are ignored and the hard skills are emphasized.
Empirical studies (Boyatzis Renio, 1989) demonstrated that MBA programme has significant
positive effect on graduates managerial competencies but they contend that did not appear effective
in enhancing soft skills. In overall view, an assessment of how MBA graduates fared after attaining
MBA degree, led (Sturges, Simpson, Altman, 2003) to deduce that the graduates become more
effective managers who display self confidence, people management and team working skills. In
their study on the motivators of choosing a management course, Nyaribo, Prakash Owino, (2012),
concluded that MBA education should combine explicit knowledge of the basic disciplines with
the tacit knowledge that comes from practice in order to provide MBA graduates with a

Media Influence On Children Essay
The powerful media is considered a leading influence in our society both directly and indirectly.
Media is available and readily accessible today more easily than ever. Printed materials,
television, sound recordings, internet, and radio all fall under the umbrella of the big bad or
seemingly bad word media. Is media bad? How is it controlled? And where does this all stem
from...? These are some of the major concerns parents are faced with in raising children in today s
times. Although most of our media appears to be superficial and meaningless fluff, violence and
chit chat, it is also a source of education, humor and non violent entertainment. Both salesmen and
individuals wishing to promote various things have at some point made... Show more content on

A study was conducted on 3,155 children ages 2 18, in regard to the impact of media on society.
The survey was done by The Kaiser Family Foundation, and independent national healthcare
philanthropy, and the results appeared alarming. Children ages 8 and above, 65% have a
bedroom TV and 21% have a bedroom computer. Of all kids, in all ages in our society 69% have
a computer at home and 45% with internet access. One of the many results researchers were
surprised to hear that of the children ages 8 and above, 61% live in homes without any rules
regarding TV and internet usage. Many researchers and educators were alarmed with the extreme
results and the percentage of time children spend watching television. They believe there is a
connection between too much media consumption and violence or acting out among children.
(Barbour, et al, 2008) (Clark Blackwell, 2002) In the discussions regarding the influences media
presents to our society two important factors must be included. On factor, called media literacy
was addressed by an educator, Renee Hobbs. Hobbs is quoted saying Just because our students can
use the media and technology doesn t mean they are effective at critically analyzing and evaluating
the messages they receive. Hobbs continues to express her ideas, by saying children need to be
taught the skills to ask important questions about the media they watch, see, listen to and

Helicopter Parent Research Paper
College is typically the prime of a young adult s life, it s where students get their first taste of
freedom and have a newfound independence and although this is what most teenagers so strongly
desire, there are some who do not know how to properly handle the world alone. These people are
those with helicopter parents. Helicopter parents are parents who, like their nickname, are always
hovering over their children to protect them and make sure all their needs are being met. These
parents usually go far beyond just being an attentive parent, so much so that they fully involve
themselves in the lives of their child, making it their duty for their child to succeed in any way
possible. Helicopter parentingalso appears to be on the rise and... Show more content on

Most research evidence is supporting the idea that helicopter parenting is harmful. It s clear that
there has been changes in recent years with students and the common factor happens to be
helicopter parenting. Mothers and fathers are their raising children that have had their abilities and
self assurance stripped away to be held by them. Being loving and supportive is also not enough to
help reverse the damage done by the smothering involvement so, no matter how helicopter parents
go about managing their children, they re still managing their children. The only way to solve this
problem is for parents to learn how to let go and find other ways to engage with their child without
controlling them, they must put their trust in them and believe that the young adult they raised is
as talented and gifted enough of a person as they believe them to

Attitudes of Christianity and Islam Toward Merchants and...
From their origins to 1500, the attitudes of both Christian and Muslims toward trade shifted as
conditions in the Christian and Islamic worlds changed. In the beginning, Christian attitudes were
more negative, while Muslims tended to encourage and respect trade and merchants. Over time,
Muslims became more like early Christians in that they were suspicious of traders whereas the
Christians became more like the early Muslims, equating merchants (at least honest ones) with
doing God s work, reflecting the changed importance of trade in the high Middle Ages in Europe.
At their origins, Christians and Muslims had different views about merchants and traders. This can
be seen in the first two documents which are excerpts from the holy books of ... Show more content

Commerce is the increasing of capital by buying goods and attempting to sell them at a price
higher than their cost. Waiting for a rise in the market price or by transporting the goods to
another place where they are more keenly demanded. It is necessary to have enough initial capital
to pay in cash the sellers from whom one buys goods, to sell for cash as honesty. Dishonesty leads
on the one hand to fraud and the adulteration of goods and on the other to delays on payment which
diminish profits because capital remains idle during the interval. (Document 5, fourteen century
Universal History.) Evasiveness, litigation and disputation, all of which are characteristics of the
profession and qualities lead to a decrease and weakening in virtue which can mistaken as bias
because some may say this persona to commerce makes one a human being. This shows a much
more respectful view towards merchants and may reflect the fact that Muhammad, the founder of
Islam was a merchant himself.
Since this question is about attitudes about trade it would be more complete with documents
portraying the views of more groups. For example, letters from Muslim merchants would allow us
to examine that group s view about trade. Documents from Orthodox Christians would give a more
complete picture of the attitudes of Christianity. Collection records from Muslim mosques or
Christian churches would allow us to compare how each benefited from merchants and so be able to

The Environmental Protection Agency ( Epa )
We live in a world where synthetic chemicals are routinely used for the production of essential
components of modern life. As more research emerges correlations are made, chemicals are tested,
and toxicants are identified, reengineered, and replaced with others equal in cause but unequal in
effect. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the national authority tasked with this
dynamic approach. The EPA defines hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) as pollutants that are known
or suspected to cause cancer or other serious health effects, such as... damage to the immune system,
as well as neurological, reproductive... developmental, respiratory and other health problems (About

air emissions, also called stack air are emissions that occur through confined air streams such as

Boulder, Colorado where I was born. Boulder County is home to an estimated 313,333 people
with a median age of 28.7. Furthermore, 5% of people are below age 5, 20.3% are below age

Boulder is over 5300 feet above sea level with an arid, sunny climate. The Rocky Mountains

fishing, or more.Toluene is the seventh largest fugitive air emission in the greater Denver area. In

Characteristics Of Irregular And Guerrilla Warfare During...
Irregular/Guerrilla Warfare in The Civil War William Beckman September 11, 2016 There are
usually three different categories to guerrilla operations. They are the people s war, Partisan
warfare, and raiding warfare. Each has there own characteristics that were commonly found
during the civil war years (1861 1865). The concept of the people s war during the Civil War in
the hinterland of Border States (Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Northwestern
Virginia/ West Virginia) it was marked as a vicious neighbor against neighbor as other grudges
got settled. It was very common for residents from one part of a county to take up arms against
people in another part of the county. In many cases union and rebel neighbors clashed over
control of their communities. Bushwhacking, murder, assault and terrorism were the same
characteristics of this type of fighting. Very few wore uniforms or were even formally in any
army. In most cases it was civilian on civilian or civilian against enemy or opposing forces.
Guerrilla activities had become a acute problem in areas where civil authority had broken down.

An exploration of the use Shakespeare makes of misunderstanding and deception in the play Much
Ado About Nothing
Misunderstanding and deception in Much Ado About Nothing are key themes in the play. In
Elizabethan times the word Nothing was pronounced Noting and so the title would have given the
audience the initial clue that in this play the importance of noting, spying, appearance and
eavesdropping will cause trouble throughout. It is important to define the difference between
misunderstanding and deception. Instances of misunderstanding are very often simple mistakes.
Misunderstanding means having an erroneous interpretation of the truth. Deception is to
intentionally mislead or provide untruthful information.

Hero also criticises Beatrice and condemns her attitudes towards Benedick and towards love. Hero
is much more scathing towards Beatrice than Don Pedro and Leonato were towards Benedick.
Hero says that Beatrice is too disdainful and self endeared . She further attacks Beatrice by
saying that Distain and scorn ride sparkling in her eyes. Misprising what they look on and her
wit. Values itself so highly . It seems that these scornful words are more than just a way to hook
Beatrice into feeling sorry for Benedick. I think that there is resentment behind them; Hero thinks
that Beatrice values herself too highly and is releasing herself from Beatrice s over bearing
influence. I also believe that what the audience witness is an exchange of roles in this deception.
Hero is starting to exercise her opinion while Beatrice hides in the orchard somewhat speechless.
Beatrice s deception is conveyed in blank verse as opposed to Benedick s longer gulling, in prose.

Disadvantages Of Enzymatic Browning
B rowning may be desirable, as in caramelization, or undesirable, as in an apple turning brown
after being cut. There are two types of browning, which are mentioned as follows:
1.Enzymatic Browning
2.Non enzymatic Browning
ENZYMATIC BROWNING
The phenomenon of Enzymatic browning is quite different from the rotting of food that comes
with decay. Browning foods can be safely eaten where as the rotten food become harmful. When
fruits such as avocadoes, apples, bananas and vegetables like potatoes become brown when cut.
This browning cannot only make the food look unappealing but also softens it and cause it to lose
flavor. It also severely limits the shelf life of the product decreasing its value. However the same
chemical reaction also develops the colors and tastes of tea, coffee, raisins, prunes and chocolate
that many people love. Thus, there are a few foods that benefit from enzymatic browning.

the cell wall come in contact with colorless phenols which are found inside the cell causing the

oxygen. The products of this chemical reaction cause the brown color. The PPO and polyphenols
are present in the plant cells and are released when the cells are cut or mashed. They react with the
oxygen that comes from the air. (Enzymes are chemical substances that start or speed up a chemical

Kaolin is very easy to refine and produce due to the abundant available quantities of its unrefined
form, kaolinite. And since kaolin is inert in its clinical form it does not cause an immune
response when introduced into a biological system, however it is not biodegradable so it must be
removed after use (Bennett et al., 2014; Trabattoni et al., 2010). Kaolin has been an attractive
hemostatic agent due to its ability to form clots and being inexpensive to produces, however a
major drawback is that it does not work when the host is in a state of coagulopathy.
Chitosan:
Chitosan is a polysaccharide made of polymers of ОІ (1 4) linked D glucosamine and N acetyl D
glucosamine (NAG), and is produced from a component of the exoskeleton of crustacean shells
called chitin. Chitosan s hemostatic effects are due to its amino groups reacting with the
membranes of circulating cells in the host s blood, leading to eventual clot formation that occurs
independently of the innate coagulation cascade. The positively charged residues present on
chitosan attract the negatively charged cell membranes of erythrocytes and thrombocytes, creating
a cross linkage of said cells and then the formation of a thrombus. Chitosan is also biodegradable
and is broken down inside the host. It also induces an immune response that activates macrophages
and stimulates cell proliferation leading to faster wound healing

3.4.1 Control Methods
Security controls include the utilization of technical and nontechnical strategies (NIST, 2002).
Technical controls are protections that are consolidated into PC hardware, programming, or

controls that includes security approaches; operational methodology; and physical and

Author Summary Shirley Jackson was born in San Francisco, California on December 14, 1919.
The family left California and moved to New York when she was sixteen. At age twenty Shirley
enrolled at the University of Syracuse. There she met Stanley Edgar Hyman. Her and Hyman
were later married in 1940. Her literary production increased tremendously after her marriage
and the birth of their four children. Unfortunately with all of her success she was still human,
with human problems. She was an agoraphobic and severely depressed. The may be why her
stories are so far out in left field compared to what was being written at the time, and even today.
Her writing was an outlet for her and this lead so many successful works of literature. Shirley
Jackson s stories always seem to center on one thing: almost every story is about a protagonist s
discovering or failing to discover or successfully ignoring an alternate way of perceiving a set of
circumstances or the world. Often a change in the character s perspective leads to terror, anxiety,
neurosis, or even loss of their identity. Jackson s most notable work The Lottery is a ghastly story
that tells of the way people blindly follow traditions and conform to their society. She also
published many short stories in periodicals such as the New Yorker, Good Housekeeping, Woman s
Day, The Hudson Review, and The Yale Review. She also published novels such as The

Analysis Of Forster s The Machine Stops
In 1909, E.M. Forster wrote a short story called The Machine Stops. Interestingly, this story
seemed to give a small prediction of our social media today. In it, humans have eschewed
physical interaction for solitary existences in separate underground rooms. However, they do
continue communicate audibly. This is just done through phone like pads and screens. In this
situation, The Machine provides everything that humans needs and it is not questioned. It is
basically the totalitarian manifestation of the Internet (Allfree). In Forster s story, The
Machine isn t questioned until Vashti s son, Kuno, who lives on the other side of earth wants to
see her (Allfree). Of course, this is not how we use social media as the majority of people still
leave their houses and at times don t use electronic devices and actually interact with each other
on a physical basis. However, it does sound like something theatrical and Neil Duffield did bring
an adaption of The Machine Stops to the United Kingdom where it will be directed by Julie
Forster in June 2016 (Allfree). Even more interesting is that while this is one way social media
may be approached in theatre, theatre can also be approached, appreciated, and reviewed via
social media. Social media gives people an ease of use, is a quick way to communicate, and it is
able to reach many people. Because of these things, social media is quickly changing trends and
agendas in topics that range from the environment

Protection of Intellectual Property Essay
Protection of Intellectual Property
Introduction
There is a lot of controversy about intellectual property and its application to software. There are
many difficult, fundamental questions that arise, such as exactly what aspects of a piece of
software should be protected under copyright or patent. [5] Despite the fact that applying existing
laws to software is not very straight forward, some sort of legal protection for intellectual property
is necessary, as it provides a significant amount of positive outcomes, which will be described
further in this paper. We will argue that the legal protection for intellectual propertyis an ethical
obligation from a rule utilitarian ethical framework because it promotes innovation and economic ...

[6]
One of the most useful aspects of the legal protection of intellectual property is the drive towards
innovation that it inspires. This is traditionally accomplished through a monetary incentive that is a
result of the exclusivity granted by a copyright or patent. The potential of being granted the
exclusive rights for the creation and distribution of a potentially new and useful idea or
technology is what drives people to create new ideas in a capitalist society. [4] By copyrighting
software, software developers are encouraged to create new and exciting software because they
have, at the very least, a monetary incentive to benefit from their work. Finally, copywriting
software allows the creator to determine how his software is to be used. For example, software
copyright has enabled licenses like the General Public License, which allows anyone to use the
software without restriction, but requires that any modification of the software be shared openly
like the original. [3] Clearly, the rights granted by legal protection of intellectual property have and
will continue to promote innovation.
The legal protection of intellectual property also promotes economic growth. The manufacturing
industry, as well as the pharmaceutical and publishing industries are among many industries in the

Abortion Is The Choice Of The Woman Holding The Fetus Essay
Abortion is a subject that sparks great debate either for or against. With the country that we live in
today, its moral standards are ever changing and its decisions are scrutinized. Abortions are
becoming justified and should be the choice of the woman holding the fetus. This choice should be
supported because government should not be involved in the choice of its individual people.
Religion, and science will always cause friction when educating people on how a human life is or
should be treated. Abortionis more than educating people, it has psychological factors, and it has
short term, and long term effects. The financial matters and who bears the overall long term
effect, society or the individual needs to be addressed. The Supreme Court of the United States
has been involved in highly publicized cases of abortion; Rowe v Wade, Gonzales v. Carnhart,
Ayotte v. Planned Parenthood of New England, are to name a few. The Supreme Court is the
highest form of government in the United States to decide these matters and should throw them
back down the state where each own can establish its guidelines to govern these laws and
regulations. Sexual Education in the school system is designed to teach the youth about sexually
transmitted diseases, and the risk of what can happen if a life is brought into this world unplanned.
It is at this point where abortion should be discussed and debated so that the future and those

Consent In The Great Leviathan
Consent is the single most important factor in all of Hobbes s theories along with the creation of
the Leviathan, and is the basis for creating covenants, also known as the social contract. Despite the
extreme power, the covenant is nothing more than an agreement, but it is the foundation of the
great Leviathanhe attempts to create. Such covenants begin in man s most primitive state, the
state of nature. The state of nature is the worst state as it is governed by chaos and despair.
Hobbes uses phrases to describe state of nature like, nature in that place which is most proper for
them; ascribing appetite, and knowledge of what is good for their conservation (which is more
than man has), to things inanimate, absurdly. To escape this wretched state of life, man makes
covenants, but the covenants in the state of nature still have problems such as: if three men are on

Each of the two men have gained land, an inanimate thing once lusted after; nevertheless, their
quality of life has declined considering they now live in a constant state of fear of their own

the emergence of the Leviathan, a powerful state. The Leviathan, is a sovereign power that has
gained much of its power by creating numerous amounts of contracts with its subjects. However, its
power is quite contested throughout academia, and even within Hobbes s Leviathan itself. What
extent does the Leviathan have power? Is it absolute? and further on. The biggest question is about

Argumentative Synthesis Of President Obama

ENG 101

Argumentative Synthesis
President Barack Hussein Obama was the forty fourth president elected into office in 2008 and the
first United States president, under the constitution, of African descent. He has worked his way up
from the Illinois State Senate to the US Senate then officially sworn in as president on January
20, 2009. Considering his background in politics, logically, he should be a responsible,
trustworthy candidate for president yet that does not stand for his mentality of how to run a
country. He has portrayed himself as a person of significance by supporting the same sex
marriage law, preventing the unnecessary travel of oil and petroleum, and fighting for paid
leave for company employees; nevertheless, he has caused grief to appear in the families of war
participants. Conversely, pre presidency, Obama promised to end the war of American troops
fighting in Afghanistan in the year 2014, he promised to direct revenues from oil drills to
increase coastal protection, he also promised to become a person who unites the American people;
however, has this so called president kept any of those promises or have they long been
abandoned? As Barack Obama s second term comes to an end, it is apparent that Obama is one of
the most hypocritical presidents in American history.
On Friday, November 6, 2015, President Obama refused an agreement with a Canadian oil
company about building the Keystone XL oil

Gabe; Alright, so today as a group we are going to demonstrate the nonverbal messages involved in
silence, how it affects communication, and show the proper way to handle a situation in which the
other person is giving the silent treatment
(Travion sits and Connor proceeds to try to talk to Travion)
Connor: So, how was your day today?
Travion: (Silence)
Connor: ...Ok, well my day was pretty boring if you want to know. I ended up studying for my
finals and watching Netflix.
Travion: (Silence + avoiding eye contact)
Connor: Is everything alright? Is there something bothering you?
Travion: (Silence + avoiding eye contact + arms crossed)
Connor: Ok, what s wrong? Why are you not talking to me all of a sudden?
Travion: (Silence + avoiding eye contact + arms crossed)
Connor: Did I do something wrong? Talk to me...

Carl Rogers Humanistic Psychodynamic Approach
EXISTENTIAL HUMANISTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
In the 1960 s a new momentum in counselling known as the third force spawned. This force
became known as the existential humanist approach developed by Carl Rogers and Abraham
Maslow. Like most psychologists of his era; Carl Rogers trained psychodynamically (Prochaska
Norcross 2010). However, he didn t stay psychodynamic for long. Rogers disagreed with many of
Freud s presumptions about therapy and more fundamentally, about people. Along with Abraham
Maslow, Rogers pioneered the humanistic movement in psychology. The humanistic approach
assumes that people arrive with an inborn tendency to grow, otherwise known as self actualisation

Divorce
Introduction
Divorce is a legal action between to married people to end their marriage (Meyer, 2015). Divorce is
a social problem in today s society; it has become an epidemic (Alwin McCammon, 2003). In
fact, it is very common for couples to get divorce (Alwin McCammon, 2003). There are several
types of divorce: at fault, no fault divorce and summary divorce (Meyer, 2015). No fault divorce
requires neither husband nor wife to obtain divorce; reasons are commonly known as
incompatibility, irreconcilable differences and irremediable breakdown of marriage (Meyer,
2015). Divorcees can transfer individual income if all assets were kept separate or income gained
during the marriage (Uunk, 2004). This type of policy helps with the financial consequences that
divorce has (Uunk, 2004).
Today, getting married seems to be an old way of thinking (Amato Hohmann Marriott, 2007).
Social influences by the media have encouraged the idea of betrayal and dissolvent of marriage
(Rosenfeld, 2014). Internet site have blogs about the thrill of cheating on your partner (Rosenfeld,
2014). Cultural differences have also influenced marriage (Rosenfeld, 2014). Studies have shown
there is a correlation between social media and the increase in divorce (Rosenfeld, 2014).

Why? The US fought to keep the South Vietnam, which was democratic, from becoming
communist like North Vietnam. The US felt responsible for protecting the world from communism
which is why they fought.
Difference from other American war it was different because, it wasn t a war for territory, but a
war to destroy an insurgency. This was also the first televised war.
Influence on American sentiment due to the fact that this was the first televised war, people saw
how horrifying the war was right from their television at home. This made Americans further
disapprove of the war making them protest even more.
Influence on literature and music the Vietnam War had an effect on music; musicians started
making songs that reflected the disapproval of the war as a way of protest. An example of a
song is The Times They Are A Changin by Bob Dylan. Anti war music posters were advertised
and a benefit dance was held on March 25, 1966. Another song was recorded, called Give Peace
a Chance by John Lennon regarding the disapproval of the war. The war also had an effect on
literature; many writers began writing works concerning war. Examples of poems written about
the Vietnam War was Gliding Baskets and Rice Will Grow Again by Frank A. Cross Jr. Those
had to do with the death of innocent Vietnamese civilians. Another writing was called We Regret

Within any company, managers must be reminded that the focus of a layoff is not on the actual
individual being released, but rather on the position itself. The layoff decision is made based on
the needs of the company and the position. If the individual is not fulfilling the position or if the
position is no longer necessary, the company must make the decision to let the person go. With this
perspective, managers can prevent as many negative emotions as possible and it will additionally
affect the communication between the manager and employee being laid off. When the employee

Three Ways the Layoff May Affect the Company
Even if a layoff is completed successfully and with little resistance, there are possible negative
effects in which the decision can have on the company. These include:
* Decrease trust among valuable employees
* Hidden costs, such as severance packages, may cause the layoff to be ineffective
* Workplace morale may decrease
Companies are oftentimes hasty to undergo layoffs as they feel they are eliminating their
ineffective employees and building an environment full of strong and effective employees.
However, this does not guarantee that the valuable employees will remain loyal to the company
and it is important that managers do not depend too much on these employees. Layoffs can also
decrease trust among the valuable employees as they may worry that they too could be

Essay On Emphysema
Emphysema
Around 2 million Americans suffer from emphysema. Emphysema is known as a disease of the
lung that cause shortness of breath due to over inflation of the alveoli or air sacs in the lungs. It
is a progressive and irreversible condition in which the alveoli are damaged by inhaled irritants. In
this paper I will be discussing with you the causes, the process in which this disease develops, signs
and symptoms, the diagnosis, and any treatment of emphysema.
Causes
Emphysema is caused by a plethora of problems that I will soon discuss, but the number one cause
of emphysema is due to smoking. It is known that 85% of patients who get emphysema smoke, but
not all smokers will develop emphysema depending on their genetics. Smoking destroys the lung
tissue obstructing the airflow and can also cause inflammation and irritate the airways causing an
obstruction. Smoke damages the cilia in the bronchial tubes which are basically tiny hairs that

symptom of emphysema is shortness of breath. Its noticed during the earlier stages of the disease
when you re exercising or doing strenuous activities, also a chronic cough would be present. In the
later stages patients start to feel breathless while at rest, catching infections in the lungs often,
wheezing, fatigue, cyanosis of the extremities and copious mucus. The most noticeable sign of
emphysema is when a patient has pursed lipped breathing. That s when the patient has a hard time
exhaling completely to empty the trapped air in their lungs, so when they purse their lips creating
a small opening, it increases the pressure in the restricted airways, allowing them to open to empty
the trapped air. Patients tend to develop barrel chest as a result from air trapping due to obstructed

Give Four Reasons Why Jesus Became A Man Essay
Throughout the universe, Jesus is unique. There is no other person like Him, for He is both God
and man. This is what we teach the Bible.
But why would Jesus want to become a man? What He did would be comparable to a rich man
leaving his beautiful mansion and everything I had to become poor and live in misery. It would
be like a great powerful king leaving to all those who respect and obey him to become detested and
abhorred. But Jesus did all this, and even more. By his own will He left his divine position with God
the Father. He wanted to take the man shape In fact, the title Son of Man arrives to be the one that

He had to be born, because every human being is born, and He was a human being. However,
there was an important difference. So that Jesus could be born as a descendant of Adam, it was
necessary that he had a human mother. But He did not have a human father. God was his Father.
By the miracle of virgin birth prophesied by Isaiah, God came to dwell among men and be one of
them. Lucas, the doctor, did an investigation of the facts, and wrote the following about the birth of
Jesus:
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, a

name was Mary. And entering the Angel where she was, said: Hail, very favored! The Lord is
with you; blessed you between women. But she, when she saw him, was troubled by her words,
and I thought what salutation this would be. Then the angel said to her: Mary, fear not, because
you have found favor before God. And now, you will conceive in your womb, and you will give
birth to a son, and you will call his name JESUS. This will be great, and he will be called Son of
the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father; and will reign over
the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end. Then Mary said to the angel: How

Listeria Monocytogenes
Description
Listeria monocytogenes is a gram positive motile facultative anaerobe that inhabits a variety of
environments. Using selective media it can be readily isolated from soil, water, vegetation and
processed products, including ready to eat products designated for human consumption (Graves et
al., 1992). The bacterium was named monocytogenes because one distinguish characteristic of
infection in rabbits, which was the production of monocytosis in blood (Shuin et al., 1982).
L. monocytogenes is phychrophilic, has a temperature for growth of 0В°C to 45В°C (Barbosa et

contaminated after pasteurization and stored under refrigeration may achieve very high populations
of L. monocytogenes after one week; Furthermore, temperature abuse may enhance the
multiplication of bacterial cells. L. monocytogenes can also be found in cheese because of its
relative hardiness to temperature fluctuations, ability to multiply at refrigeration temperature and
salt tolerance. During manufacturing process, L. monocytogenes is primarily concentrate in the
cheese curd, with only a very small portion of cells appearing in the whey. Then, during ripening
of the cheese, the numbers of cells may increase (Camembert), decrease gradually (Colby or

meat and poultry products have been implicated as the source of sporadic and epidemic listeriosis
on several occasions in North America and Europe (Schwartz et al., 1989). L. monocytogenes
attaches strongly to the surface of raw meats and is difficult to remove or inactivate. The
multiplication in meat and poultry depends on the type of meat, pH, and the type of cell
populations of competitive flora (Farber et al., 1999). However, it has been shown that poultry
supports the growth of L. monocytogenes better than other meats. Furthermore, the incidence of L.

The Narmer Palette Summary
The Narmer Palette in chapter 1 image 1.26 is One of the most famous artefacts found in ancient
Egypt, that is carved from a slab of carved greenish siltstone. The stone is tough enough to carve
without flaking and well consolidated and comes from a quarry used since pre dynastic times at
Wadi Hammamat. The stone has some of the earliest examples of hieroglyphics carved on its
shaped surface, along with a series of pictures whose interpretation has proved controversial. It
dates from 3,100 to 4500 BCE depending on which source you read. Some believe it to

Scout As A Role Model In To Kill A Mockingbird
Scout changes many times, but her presentation of herself remains the same. At the beginning of
the novel, Scout sees herself as gamine as she plays with her brother and never had a female
figure to be a role model. By the end of the novel, she receives a taste of the outside world and
what goes on beyond her house. With Tom Robinson and the court case, all the way to Boo Radley
the monster, Scout sees and lives everything. In the novelTo Kill A Mockingbird, Scout displays
herself as obstinate, inquisitive, and gamine. One way scout displays herself is obstinate. For
example, at the beginning of the book, Scout s teachers tell her she is not allowed to read at home
anymore with her dad. Scout is very upset when she is told that. That day when she runs home, she
tries to convince her father, Atticus, to let her not go to school because she wants to continue
reading with him every night. Another example where Scout is obstinate in the novel is when Jem,
Scout s brother, Dill, Scout s friend, and Scout go down to the courthouse to spy on Atticus and find
him confronting a mob of men. When Scout runs to see Atticus, Jem and Dill are forced to follow.
Scout then sees a man she knows, Mr. Cunningham, she tries many times to get his attention but he
does not respond. Hey, Mr. Cunningham... Hey, Mr. Cunningham. How s your entailment gettin

go when she tries to get his attention. Even when Mr. Cunningham continues to ignore her, she is
very stubborn about getting his attention to say hi. As Scout begins to see what is outside of her
home, she becomes an inquisitive person. For example, Scout sits with Atticus every night and
reads the daily newspaper, unlike most other kids her age. Scout loves reading, that is why she
never wanted to stop even when her teacher told her she had to. She learns new things every night,
even if she might not understand them at the moment, she will learn more in the future. She was

Development Of Sexual And Abnormal Fetishes
Development of Sexual Fetishes Sexual fetishes are a form of intense arousal due to a fixation of
an inanimate object or a specific human characteristic. Types of fetishes can be viewed as

factors that make up the defining line between normal and abnormal fetishes are somewhat
undetermined, however, it is interesting to study whether the causes of both share similarities in
their development. These fetishes can create changes in social behavior, thinking and overall
function. There is no definitive way to determine which fetishes are normal and which ones are
abnormal, however, the commonality of these fetishes can be evaluated by society and the
frequency of them. A study was done to attempt to define what makes up an unusual sexual fantasy.
The experiment was done through an internet survey of over 1,500 participants. The goal was to
determine sexual fantasies that were common and narrow down the ones that were rare according
to the statistics. One of the most important statements from this article discusses the difficulty in
categorizing fantasies as normal or abnormal. The conclusion of the experiment is that Care should
be taken before labeling an SF as unusual, let alone deviant. It suggested that the focus should be on
the effect of a sexual fantasy rather than its content

Character Analysis Of Miss Emily Grierson
Upon reading A Rose for Emily, penned by William Faulkner, one discovers several colorful
characters, including one Miss Emily Grierson, who may be best described as a wilting violet in a
time capsule. As the daughter of a colonel who was once the respected town mayor, Miss Emily
met a much different fate than one might have expected of someone with such a high societal
status. In keeping with the idea that humans are flawed beings, a tragic herois often described as an
individual with immense potential who meets a horrific end due to flaws within themselves, and
the main character in Faulkner s short story undeniably meets these criteria. In William Faulkners A
Rose for Emily, Miss Emily Grierson suffers an unfortunate fate due to her lack of willingness to
evolve as the times changed, her intense need to keep up appearances, and her withdrawal from
society which leads readers to accept her as a tragic hero.
Throughout the course of the story, it becomes evident to readers that Miss Emily lived her life
as though time was on pause, and nothing was allowed to be altered within the confines of her
reality; in regard to this realization, one notes that this is where she first began her long fall down
the well. In retrospect, she held fast to the days when she fancied herself a symbol of the
flourishing south and became stationary in an antiquated period of life when the times began to
change. She made it known that she wanted no part of change, and she never chose to

Racist Death Penalty
The Death Penalty is a racist practice and is costly to go through with. The death penalty must be
abolished for reasons such as punishing the poor, violating the human right to live, and being
incorrectly, or unfairly sentenced to death due to race or inaccurate evidence. What exactly gives
governments all this power to decide whether someone lives or dies? Along with inequality, the
death penalty punishes the poor. In recent studies if a defendant cannot afford good legal
representation they are more likely to head towards the death penalty. If the defendant can afford
good legal representation they are likely to get a lighter charge. In this situation money is key,
which is unfair to the poor as they cannot improve their situation. It is present that a large percent
of defendants cannot afford to hire a skillful defense lawyer and are required to use inexperienced

Some of these are as follows: * Clear communication with reasons why this could help * Establish
and discuss the conflicts with the people involved * Support and motivate the resident where
possible * Involve Specialist people where needed * Manage conflicts when they happen and
discuss them calmly 2.4. Support the individual to understand the plan and any processes,
procedures or equipment needed to implement or monitor it. People should always be involved and
in control of any development of their life and should be discussed with them throughout ensuring
that they understand both the gain they will receive as well as any risks involved. Support should
be given when and where needed, this could be anything from encouragement and motivation
through to equipment to help them. When equipment is provided it is essential that someone who
knows how to use this equipment shows them how to use and work it to receive the best benefit
from it to a level where they understand clearly and fully. 3.1. Provide agreed support to develop or

Wrestlemania Research Paper
Welcome to Wrestlemania! An introduction that has been around for three decades. Considered the
grandest stage of them all in the professional wrestling industry this show has been a staple mark
for World Wrestling Entertainment. It what was billed as the biggest professional wrestling event
the world has seen and the show certainly delivered. Setting a new WWE attendance record of
101,763 hardcore wrestlingfans.
The show s card featured twelve matches of the best that WWE has to offer. This show catered
greatly to not only the older wrestling fans but the newer generation of fans as well. With the
nostalgic return of The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin it was almost like the 90 s Attitude Era
had returned, even if only for a few short minutes.
Several superstars pushed the butterflies in their stomachs aside and made their Wrestlemania

African American Literature Reflection Paper
Before starting this class, African American Literature, I wasn t too sure what to expect. I had
never taken an AFAS class before but I had heard great things from my friends so I decided to
take one. Professor Carter was an amazing professor and always sounded to extremely passionate
and excited during class which I found very admirable. The way he spoke about the different
aspects of the class and the different pieces of writing was very intriguing and always held my
attention in class. We read a variety of African American
literature in this class which included
novels, poems, and short stories and each and every one of them related perfectly to what we were
talking about during that time in class. We studied different authors and their writing styles, as well
as different eras including the Harlem Renaissance.
The thing that set this class apart from the rest was the use of multimedia in the class. This
included the weekly voice threads, the live videos each class period, and the multimedia
projects throughout the semester. This was my favorite part of the class. I loved how the
professor didn t just want us to express our opinions of the literature in projects, but he wanted
us to express our opinions in the most creative ways. We were assigned weekly voice threads which
allowed us to answer several questions based off of our own opinions of the readings we read for
class. Personally, I loved this because I felt like I could proudly share what I felt about the reading

Christian Ethics Research Paper
Everyone in the world has some sort of ethics on how to live. It is a way to examine what is
good and right and an explanation of how people think and act. Everyone also has moral
absolutism, which acts as a moral compass for right and wrong. There are numerous types of
ethics but one main one I abide by are the Ten Commandments. This includes commands such as:
no other gods before Him, do not steal, murder, commit adultery, do not misuse the name of God,
and keep the sabbath holy. Each one has a reason I value and believe is important to keep. For
example, the first commandment is no other gods before Him , this is important for me to keep

Many worldviews have multiple opinions of psychology, but no one knows this better than
Christians. Scientists have confirmed that humans do have a spirit, but do not declare whether it
is needed for living. If one has a biblical worldview then one has a view on Christian psychology.
Christian recognize the metaphysical world and there are multiple verses in the Bible agreeing
with this view point, an example would be in John 4:24, God is spirit, and those who worship him
must worship in spirit and truth. The Bible states that man is more than just human, but also
contains a spirit. A well respected neuro physiologist, Sir John Eccles, believes mind and body
dualism explains the occurrence of hyper awareness and ultimately mind and body dualism. Paul
Weiss states , Even though I know I am constantly changing, all molecules are changing, everything
in me is being turned over substantially, there is nevertheless my identity, my consciousness of
being essentially the same that I was 20 years ago. However much I may have changed, the
continuity of my identity has remained undisrupted. Due to the constant changing, no one would
be able to have an identity if they have did not have a soul or in fact, something spiritual inside of
them. When Christians accept Christ as his savior he is not only declaring with his mouth but his
spirit as well. In Ephesians 6:11 17 it

Non Smoking Campus Essay
I love nothing more than to stroll around the beautiful campus at State University. The scenery is

The Tobacco Institute has consistently tried to confuse the public as to the health effects of
involuntary smoking. They tend to point out that the research and evidence concerning the subject
is inconsistent. However, research studies such as above offer a complete rebuttal to this claim.
How dangerous is second hand smoke? The Indiana Prevention Resource Center also tells us that it
contains more than 300 known poisons, including such deadly substances as nicotine, arsenic,
cyanide, carbon monoxide, phenol, and formaldehyde (internet). According to a study conducted
by the Department of Health and Human Services Center for Disease Control and Prevention, a
thorough analysis of the many respiratory studies on the health effects of second hand smoke
concluded that it caused lung cancer among non smokers (internet). According to Bill Alder and
Steve Allen, the Environmental Protection Agency and Naval Research Laboratory estimated that
between five hundred and five thousand non smokers die each year of lung cancer alone from
exposure to cigarette smoke (18). I, for one, am outraged by this! How can studies so obviously
prove the dangers of second hand smoke, yet action on campus against it is confined only to
buildings and not applicable to the entire campus? The risks that are inflicted upon non smokers by
second hand smoke are far too great to allow this jeopardous activity to continue.

would just have to stay the same. During the 17th century they started to diminish down because
of all the problems and having trouble making money. Q: What were the civic duties of the
guilds? Though they did at time s have their own purposes the guild would have to help with the
town or city they operated in. They were in charge for being the protectors of the town, they
would also have to construct the buildings in case of fights. They were expected to never try to
commit fraud on their customers because they were from their own town. They would also help

The Current State of the U.S. Economy Essay
The Current State of the U.S. Economy
The United States economy is racing ahead at dangerous speeds, and it may be too late to prevent
the return of widespread inflation. Ideally the economy should move ahead gradually and grow at
a steady manageable rate. Mae West once stated Too much of a good thing can be wonderful and it
seems the U.S. Treasury Secretary agrees. The Secretary announced that due to our increasing
surplus and booming economy, instead of having an outsized tax cut, we should use the surplus to
further pay down the national debt. A tax cut, though most Americans would favor it initially,
would prove counter productive. Cutting taxes would over stimulate an already raging economy,
and enhance the possibilities of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The federal reserve has raised interest rates five times in less then twelve months, and the
pervious raises are just barely beginning to take effect. The previous raises averaged around a
quarter percentage point, and since these raises failed to slow the economy, Greenspan, unable to
take anymore chances doubled the previous with a promise of more to come. The interest rates
are expected to reach 7.0% by June, the most severally effected by these constant raises are
shareholders. Because of these immediate effects market economists are largely against the
interest rate hikes. Their position is that the average inflation rate over the past three years has
been at around 2% close to the markets expected inflation rate of 1.9%. The economy is on a
sixteen year run, continually moving forward. The historical data is there however; the consumer
price index was at 1.6% over the past twelve months and the March year over year rate was at 3.7%
The market economists do not stop there due to the vast improvements in productivity, largely due
to increased technology and the internet, some market economists argue that Greenspan should
leave the economy as is. Ideally the growth rate of the economy should be set by the growth rate of
the labor force and productivity, and if the two were similar, inflation would not be a factor. The

Shopping Malls Are Becoming Extinct
Ever wonder what your favorite mall will look like if it was replaced by an empty lot? How
would you feel? Approximately 60 years ago when shopping malls were first built, it was
expected to be the gleaming symbols of America s future. Shopping malls were created to lure
customers from the city into the suburbs; thus allowing shopping be done under one roof.
However, according to recent studies conducted by Green Street Advisors, 10 percent of the
nation s 1,000 enclosed malls will fail by 2022. Although this may not seem detrimental, once
the malls begin to disappear, shoppers will be limited to where they shop. Shopping malls are
becoming extinct because of change in generation, economic issues, and the closing of major
anchor stores. As we enter a new generation, shoppers are gearing toward online and mobile
shopping, which contributes to the extinction of shopping malls. America reached a time period
where the number of adults who were born in a time where online shopping was not thought of
are retiring; resulting in old habits, such as shopping in malls, coming to a cease. The older
generation of adults tend to revert back to familiar habits such as shopping at malls or going to a
bookstore. The new generation of adults/teenagers do not use shopping malls as a hangout spot in
contrast to older generation, thus leading to the decline of shopping malls. Other than shopping,
shopping malls were once used for socializing. However, with the increase of social networks

Paul s Case Essay
Paul s Case
Paul was a self oriented boy, concerned with money, wealth, and glamour, raised in a Calvinist
household that supported these ideals. Through my research I have decided that Paul s eventual
fate was not any one person s fault. Paul was just as much to blame as his father and teachers for
Paul s suicide.
Paul was never content with his house on Cordelia Street and was always dreaming about movin
on up while he worked at Carnegie Hall and watched the actors and actresses move about in their
stately attire and live in the most luxurious of hotel suites. Because of this dream to get out of the
area in which he lived, Paul hardly ever got along with his teachers and his father. The thought of

Paul s only chance, it seemed was to steal the money he needed and live off of it for as long as he
could.
Paul stole more than $1000, enough to live for a month in New York City, at the time of the
story, and only if spent cautiously. But, no... Paul would have none of that. It would have been a
waste to have more money than he had ever seen in his life, and yet live just as he had
throughout his life. He wanted to live in style, the way the rich folks did. So, Paul spent the
money within a week on all the best clothes, the best food, the best hotel room, the best flowers,
and the best life. The money disappeared within a week and Paul was forced to leave it all behind
and return to the dreariness of middle class existence.
Paul s damaged psyche could not bear to return the living dead life that he hoped he had left
behind forever, so he removed the living part with the help of a very large, very loud locomotive.
Paul s father had abused him emotionally, and probably physically, throughout Paul s life. He did
so much to Paul s flagging self image that he had to boast to others to make himself feel big,
when he felt tiny inside. When he finally achieved that bigness that he always wanted, the
glamour of the good life, his father found him out and took that away from him, or rather, made
Paul give it up. This made Paul feel even smaller and made him feel that he would be better off
dead. So Paul decided to make his life better off and

  • 2. The Growing Critiques of MBA Programs Recently critiques about MBA programs have increased in number. Many believe that management education focuses on learning of managerial skills that are needed in current ever changing business environment. Research conducted in the past suggested that individuals with a Master s degree in Business Administration generally perform better in managerial positions than those who do not hold an MBA degree (Baruch Peiperl, 2000). In a dissenting view however, the author noted that an MBA qualification does not adequately equip students with both soft and hard skills which are needed for effective management. In addition, Researchers argue that in management education, the soft skills are ignored and the hard skills are emphasized. Empirical studies (Boyatzis Renio, 1989) demonstrated that MBA programme has significant positive effect on graduates managerial competencies but they contend that did not appear effective in enhancing soft skills. In overall view, an assessment of how MBA graduates fared after attaining MBA degree, led (Sturges, Simpson, Altman, 2003) to deduce that the graduates become more effective managers who display self confidence, people management and team working skills. In their study on the motivators of choosing a management course, Nyaribo, Prakash Owino, (2012), concluded that MBA education should combine explicit knowledge of the basic disciplines with the tacit knowledge that comes from practice in order to provide MBA graduates with a ... • 3. Media Influence On Children Essay The powerful media is considered a leading influence in our society both directly and indirectly. Media is available and readily accessible today more easily than ever. Printed materials, television, sound recordings, internet, and radio all fall under the umbrella of the big bad or seemingly bad word media. Is media bad? How is it controlled? And where does this all stem from...? These are some of the major concerns parents are faced with in raising children in today s times. Although most of our media appears to be superficial and meaningless fluff, violence and chit chat, it is also a source of education, humor and non violent entertainment. Both salesmen and individuals wishing to promote various things have at some point made... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A study was conducted on 3,155 children ages 2 18, in regard to the impact of media on society. The survey was done by The Kaiser Family Foundation, and independent national healthcare philanthropy, and the results appeared alarming. Children ages 8 and above, 65% have a bedroom TV and 21% have a bedroom computer. Of all kids, in all ages in our society 69% have a computer at home and 45% with internet access. One of the many results researchers were surprised to hear that of the children ages 8 and above, 61% live in homes without any rules regarding TV and internet usage. Many researchers and educators were alarmed with the extreme results and the percentage of time children spend watching television. They believe there is a connection between too much media consumption and violence or acting out among children. (Barbour, et al, 2008) (Clark Blackwell, 2002) In the discussions regarding the influences media presents to our society two important factors must be included. On factor, called media literacy was addressed by an educator, Renee Hobbs. Hobbs is quoted saying Just because our students can use the media and technology doesn t mean they are effective at critically analyzing and evaluating the messages they receive. Hobbs continues to express her ideas, by saying children need to be taught the skills to ask important questions about the media they watch, see, listen to and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Helicopter Parent Research Paper College is typically the prime of a young adult s life, it s where students get their first taste of freedom and have a newfound independence and although this is what most teenagers so strongly desire, there are some who do not know how to properly handle the world alone. These people are those with helicopter parents. Helicopter parents are parents who, like their nickname, are always hovering over their children to protect them and make sure all their needs are being met. These parents usually go far beyond just being an attentive parent, so much so that they fully involve themselves in the lives of their child, making it their duty for their child to succeed in any way possible. Helicopter parentingalso appears to be on the rise and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most research evidence is supporting the idea that helicopter parenting is harmful. It s clear that there has been changes in recent years with students and the common factor happens to be helicopter parenting. Mothers and fathers are their raising children that have had their abilities and self assurance stripped away to be held by them. Being loving and supportive is also not enough to help reverse the damage done by the smothering involvement so, no matter how helicopter parents go about managing their children, they re still managing their children. The only way to solve this problem is for parents to learn how to let go and find other ways to engage with their child without controlling them, they must put their trust in them and believe that the young adult they raised is as talented and gifted enough of a person as they believe them to ... • 5. Attitudes of Christianity and Islam Toward Merchants and... From their origins to 1500, the attitudes of both Christian and Muslims toward trade shifted as conditions in the Christian and Islamic worlds changed. In the beginning, Christian attitudes were more negative, while Muslims tended to encourage and respect trade and merchants. Over time, Muslims became more like early Christians in that they were suspicious of traders whereas the Christians became more like the early Muslims, equating merchants (at least honest ones) with doing God s work, reflecting the changed importance of trade in the high Middle Ages in Europe. At their origins, Christians and Muslims had different views about merchants and traders. This can be seen in the first two documents which are excerpts from the holy books of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Commerce is the increasing of capital by buying goods and attempting to sell them at a price higher than their cost. Waiting for a rise in the market price or by transporting the goods to another place where they are more keenly demanded. It is necessary to have enough initial capital to pay in cash the sellers from whom one buys goods, to sell for cash as honesty. Dishonesty leads on the one hand to fraud and the adulteration of goods and on the other to delays on payment which diminish profits because capital remains idle during the interval. (Document 5, fourteen century Universal History.) Evasiveness, litigation and disputation, all of which are characteristics of the profession and qualities lead to a decrease and weakening in virtue which can mistaken as bias because some may say this persona to commerce makes one a human being. This shows a much more respectful view towards merchants and may reflect the fact that Muhammad, the founder of Islam was a merchant himself. Since this question is about attitudes about trade it would be more complete with documents portraying the views of more groups. For example, letters from Muslim merchants would allow us to examine that group s view about trade. Documents from Orthodox Christians would give a more complete picture of the attitudes of Christianity. Collection records from Muslim mosques or Christian churches would allow us to compare how each benefited from merchants and so be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Environmental Protection Agency ( Epa ) We live in a world where synthetic chemicals are routinely used for the production of essential components of modern life. As more research emerges correlations are made, chemicals are tested, and toxicants are identified, reengineered, and replaced with others equal in cause but unequal in effect. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is the national authority tasked with this dynamic approach. The EPA defines hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) as pollutants that are known or suspected to cause cancer or other serious health effects, such as... damage to the immune system, as well as neurological, reproductive... developmental, respiratory and other health problems (About Air Toxics, 2015). This paper will hereafter discuss HAPs in Boulder, Colorado where I was born. Boulder County is home to an estimated 313,333 people with a median age of 28.7. Furthermore, 5% of people are below age 5, 20.3% are below age 18, and 12.2% of people are 65 or older. There are 405.6 people per square mile but that number jumps to 3987.4 in city limits. 90.8% of the population is white. 2.42 people on average occupy any given home, the median household income is $67,956 and 14.2% of people are living below poverty. Lastly, 11.23% of people are uninsured (State and County Quick Facts, 2015). Boulder is over 5300 feet above sea level with an arid, sunny climate. The Rocky Mountains provide a backdrop that beckons residents to explore either by skiing, biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing, or more.Toluene is the seventh largest fugitive air emission in the greater Denver area. In 2014 the EPA estimated that 22,906 pounds were released not through a confined air stream, and an additional 65,805 pounds were released through a confined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Characteristics Of Irregular And Guerrilla Warfare During... Irregular/Guerrilla Warfare in The Civil War William Beckman September 11, 2016 There are usually three different categories to guerrilla operations. They are the people s war, Partisan warfare, and raiding warfare. Each has there own characteristics that were commonly found during the civil war years (1861 1865). The concept of the people s war during the Civil War in the hinterland of Border States (Missouri, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Northwestern Virginia/ West Virginia) it was marked as a vicious neighbor against neighbor as other grudges got settled. It was very common for residents from one part of a county to take up arms against people in another part of the county. In many cases union and rebel neighbors clashed over control of their communities. Bushwhacking, murder, assault and terrorism were the same characteristics of this type of fighting. Very few wore uniforms or were even formally in any army. In most cases it was civilian on civilian or civilian against enemy or opposing forces. Guerrilla activities had become a acute problem in areas where civil authority had broken down. Many of these bands terrorized and plundered farms and towns, killing or wounding large numbers of people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Partisans were small conventional units controlled and organized by a military force for operations behind enemy lines. The 1862 Partisan Ranger Act passed by the confederate Congress gave the formations of these types of units and provided them as legitimate units. An exploration of the use Shakespeare makes of misunderstanding and deception in the play Much Ado About Nothing Misunderstanding and deception in Much Ado About Nothing are key themes in the play. In Elizabethan times the word Nothing was pronounced Noting and so the title would have given the audience the initial clue that in this play the importance of noting, spying, appearance and eavesdropping will cause trouble throughout. It is important to define the difference between misunderstanding and deception. Instances of misunderstanding are very often simple mistakes. Misunderstanding means having an erroneous interpretation of the truth. Deception is to intentionally mislead or provide untruthful information. Benedick is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Benedick has had a chance to reflect on his personality and is now changing his appearance (how he is noted by Beatrice). This criticism has also ensured Benedick s silence so neither he nor Beatrice will suspect the gulling. Hero also criticises Beatrice and condemns her attitudes towards Benedick and towards love. Hero is much more scathing towards Beatrice than Don Pedro and Leonato were towards Benedick. Hero says that Beatrice is too disdainful and self endeared . She further attacks Beatrice by saying that Distain and scorn ride sparkling in her eyes. Misprising what they look on and her wit. Values itself so highly . It seems that these scornful words are more than just a way to hook Beatrice into feeling sorry for Benedick. I think that there is resentment behind them; Hero thinks that Beatrice values herself too highly and is releasing herself from Beatrice s over bearing influence. I also believe that what the audience witness is an exchange of roles in this deception. Hero is starting to exercise her opinion while Beatrice hides in the orchard somewhat speechless. Beatrice s deception is conveyed in blank verse as opposed to Benedick s longer gulling, in prose. No rather will I go to Benedick, and counsel him to fight against his passion.. . There are two types of browning, which are mentioned as follows: 1.Enzymatic Browning 2.Non enzymatic Browning ENZYMATIC BROWNING The phenomenon of Enzymatic browning is quite different from the rotting of food that comes with decay. Browning foods can be safely eaten where as the rotten food become harmful. When fruits such as avocadoes, apples, bananas and vegetables like potatoes become brown when cut. This browning cannot only make the food look unappealing but also softens it and cause it to lose flavor. It also severely limits the shelf life of the product decreasing its value. The products of this chemical reaction cause the brown color. The PPO and polyphenols are present in the plant cells and are released when the cells are cut or mashed. Phaedra resolves to die, being weak minded and sees this as an escape of her current melancholy. Worn down by the guilt of this passion and the division it creates within her, she resolves to die. Chitosan: Chitosan is a polysaccharide made of polymers of ОІ (1 4) linked D glucosamine and N acetyl D glucosamine (NAG), and is produced from a component of the exoskeleton of crustacean shells called chitin. Chitosan s hemostatic effects are due to its amino groups reacting with the membranes of circulating cells in the host s blood, leading to eventual clot formation that occurs independently of the innate coagulation cascade. The positively charged residues present on chitosan attract the negatively charged cell membranes of erythrocytes and thrombocytes, creating a cross linkage of said cells and then the formation of a thrombus. Author Summary Shirley Jackson was born in San Francisco, California on December 14, 1919. The family left California and moved to New York when she was sixteen. At age twenty Shirley enrolled at the University of Syracuse. There she met Stanley Edgar Hyman. Her and Hyman were later married in 1940. Her literary production increased tremendously after her marriage and the birth of their four children. Unfortunately with all of her success she was still human, with human problems. She was an agoraphobic and severely depressed. The may be why her stories are so far out in left field compared to what was being written at the time, and even today. Her writing was an outlet for her and this lead so many successful works of literature. Shirley Jackson s stories always seem to center on one thing: almost every story is about a protagonist s discovering or failing to discover or successfully ignoring an alternate way of perceiving a set of circumstances or the world. Often a change in the character s perspective leads to terror, anxiety, neurosis, or even loss of their identity. Jackson s most notable work The Lottery is a ghastly story that tells of the way people blindly follow traditions and conform to their society. She also published many short stories in periodicals such as the New Yorker, Good Housekeeping, Woman s Day, The Hudson Review, and The Yale Review. She also published novels such as The ... • 17. Analysis Of Forster s The Machine Stops In 1909, E.M. Forster wrote a short story called The Machine Stops. Interestingly, this story seemed to give a small prediction of our social media today. In it, humans have eschewed physical interaction for solitary existences in separate underground rooms. However, they do continue communicate audibly. This is just done through phone like pads and screens. In this situation, The Machine provides everything that humans needs and it is not questioned. It is basically the totalitarian manifestation of the Internet (Allfree). In Forster s story, The Machine isn t questioned until Vashti s son, Kuno, who lives on the other side of earth wants to see her (Allfree). Of course, this is not how we use social media as the majority of people still leave their houses and at times don t use electronic devices and actually interact with each other on a physical basis. However, it does sound like something theatrical and Neil Duffield did bring an adaption of The Machine Stops to the United Kingdom where it will be directed by Julie Forster in June 2016 (Allfree). Even more interesting is that while this is one way social media may be approached in theatre, theatre can also be approached, appreciated, and reviewed via social media. Social media gives people an ease of use, is a quick way to communicate, and it is able to reach many people. Because of these things, social media is quickly changing trends and agendas in topics that range from the environment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many difficult, fundamental questions that arise, such as exactly what aspects of a piece of software should be protected under copyright or patent. [5] Despite the fact that applying existing laws to software is not very straight forward, some sort of legal protection for intellectual property is necessary, as it provides a significant amount of positive outcomes, which will be described further in this paper. We will argue that the legal protection for intellectual propertyis an ethical obligation from a rule utilitarian ethical framework because it promotes innovation and economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [6] One of the most useful aspects of the legal protection of intellectual property is the drive towards innovation that it inspires. This is traditionally accomplished through a monetary incentive that is a result of the exclusivity granted by a copyright or patent. The potential of being granted the exclusive rights for the creation and distribution of a potentially new and useful idea or technology is what drives people to create new ideas in a capitalist society. [4] By copyrighting software, software developers are encouraged to create new and exciting software because they have, at the very least, a monetary incentive to benefit from their work. Finally, copywriting software allows the creator to determine how his software is to be used. For example, software copyright has enabled licenses like the General Public License, which allows anyone to use the software without restriction, but requires that any modification of the software be shared openly like the original. [3] Clearly, the rights granted by legal protection of intellectual property have and will continue to promote innovation. The legal protection of intellectual property also promotes economic growth. With the country that we live in today, its moral standards are ever changing and its decisions are scrutinized. Abortions are becoming justified and should be the choice of the woman holding the fetus. This choice should be supported because government should not be involved in the choice of its individual people. Religion, and science will always cause friction when educating people on how a human life is or should be treated. Abortionis more than educating people, it has psychological factors, and it has short term, and long term effects. The financial matters and who bears the overall long term effect, society or the individual needs to be addressed. The Supreme Court of the United States has been involved in highly publicized cases of abortion; Rowe v Wade, Gonzales v. Carnhart, Ayotte v. Planned Parenthood of New England, are to name a few. The Supreme Court is the highest form of government in the United States to decide these matters and should throw them back down the state where each own can establish its guidelines to govern these laws and regulations. Sexual Education in the school system is designed to teach the youth about sexually transmitted diseases, and the risk of what can happen if a life is brought into this world unplanned. Consent In The Great Leviathan Consent is the single most important factor in all of Hobbes s theories along with the creation of the Leviathan, and is the basis for creating covenants, also known as the social contract. Despite the extreme power, the covenant is nothing more than an agreement, but it is the foundation of the great Leviathanhe attempts to create. Such covenants begin in man s most primitive state, the state of nature. The state of nature is the worst state as it is governed by chaos and despair. Hobbes uses phrases to describe state of nature like, nature in that place which is most proper for them; ascribing appetite, and knowledge of what is good for their conservation (which is more than man has), to things inanimate, absurdly. The Leviathan, is a sovereign power that has gained much of its power by creating numerous amounts of contracts with its subjects. During manufacturing process, L. monocytogenes is primarily concentrate in the cheese curd, with only a very small portion of cells appearing in the whey. Then, during ripening of the cheese, the numbers of cells may increase (Camembert), decrease gradually (Colby or cheddar), or decrease rapidly (blue cheese) and then stabilize. In addition, cooked and ready to eat meat and poultry products have been implicated as the source of sporadic and epidemic listeriosis on several occasions in North America and Europe (Schwartz et al., 1989). L. monocytogenes attaches strongly to the surface of raw meats and is difficult to remove or inactivate. The multiplication in meat and poultry depends on the type of meat, pH, and the type of cell populations of competitive flora (Farber et al., 1999). Types of fetishes can be viewed as acceptable and others can be seen as abnormal based on societal standards. However, the unknown factor of these fetishes is whether they are innate or adapted throughout the course of life. The factors that make up the defining line between normal and abnormal fetishes are somewhat undetermined, however, it is interesting to study whether the causes of both share similarities in their development. These fetishes can create changes in social behavior, thinking and overall function. There is no definitive way to determine which fetishes are normal and which ones are abnormal, however, the commonality of these fetishes can be evaluated by society and the frequency of them. A study was done to attempt to define what makes up an unusual sexual fantasy. The experiment was done through an internet survey of over 1,500 participants. The goal was to determine sexual fantasies that were common and narrow down the ones that were rare according to the statistics. One of the most important statements from this article discusses the difficulty in categorizing fantasies as normal or abnormal. In William Faulkners A Rose for Emily, Miss Emily Grierson suffers an unfortunate fate due to her lack of willingness to evolve as the times changed, her intense need to keep up appearances, and her withdrawal from society which leads readers to accept her as a tragic hero. Throughout the course of the story, it becomes evident to readers that Miss Emily lived her life as though time was on pause, and nothing was allowed to be altered within the confines of her reality; in regard to this realization, one notes that this is where she first began her long fall down the well. • 53. Shopping Malls Are Becoming Extinct Ever wonder what your favorite mall will look like if it was replaced by an empty lot? How would you feel? Approximately 60 years ago when shopping malls were first built, it was expected to be the gleaming symbols of America s future. Shopping malls were created to lure customers from the city into the suburbs; thus allowing shopping be done under one roof. However, according to recent studies conducted by Green Street Advisors, 10 percent of the nation s 1,000 enclosed malls will fail by 2022. Although this may not seem detrimental, once the malls begin to disappear, shoppers will be limited to where they shop. Shopping malls are becoming extinct because of change in generation, economic issues, and the closing of major anchor stores. • 54. Paul s Case Essay Paul s Case Paul was a self oriented boy, concerned with money, wealth, and glamour, raised in a Calvinist household that supported these ideals. Through my research I have decided that Paul s eventual fate was not any one person s fault. Paul was just as much to blame as his father and teachers for Paul s suicide. Paul was never content with his house on Cordelia Street and was always dreaming about movin on up while he worked at Carnegie Hall and watched the actors and actresses move about in their stately attire and live in the most luxurious of hotel suites. Because of this dream to get out of the area in which he lived, Paul hardly ever got along with his teachers and his father. The thought of taking full advantage of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paul s only chance, it seemed was to steal the money he needed and live off of it for as long as he could. Paul stole more than $1000, enough to live for a month in New York City, at the time of the story, and only if spent cautiously. But, no... Paul would have none of that. It would have been a waste to have more money than he had ever seen in his life, and yet live just as he had throughout his life. He wanted to live in style, the way the rich folks did. So, Paul spent the money within a week on all the best clothes, the best food, the best hotel room, the best flowers, and the best life. The money disappeared within a week and Paul was forced to leave it all behind and return to the dreariness of middle class existence. Paul s damaged psyche could not bear to return the living dead life that he hoped he had left behind forever, so he removed the living part with the help of a very large, very loud locomotive. Paul s father had abused him emotionally, and probably physically, throughout Paul s life. He did so much to Paul s flagging self image that he had to boast to others to make himself feel big, when he felt tiny inside. When he finally achieved that bigness that he always wanted, the glamour of the good life, his father found him out and took that away from him, or rather, made Paul give it up. This made Paul feel even smaller and made him feel that he would be better off dead. So Paul decided to make his life better off and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
