Pvr Case Study Essay
Unit II Case Study Instructions 1. Discuss how PVRs will affect the demand from advertisers.
In order to examine the effect that PVR has on advertising companies, we need to consider the
needs of society and how will it benefit from this video recorder.
Comfort is an important issue in today s society. The easy programming and the large video
recording space, which reaches up to 60 hours, makes this devise very desirable. Moreover, the
flexibility to play the recorded program repeatedly at the viewers most convenient time removes the
need to schedule your day based on the programs.
Advertising Companies depend on programs to promote products or services based on the client.
However, because of PVR the viewer is capable of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Suppose that the expected number of viewers is one million people. What price should you
charge? How many minutes of advertising will you sell? What is total revenue? b) Suppose price
is held constant at the value from part (a). What will happen to the quantity demanded if due to
PVRs the number of expected viewers falls to 0.5 million? Calculate the viewer elasticity based on
the two points. Explain in words what this value means.
3. As more viewers begin using PVRs, what happens to the revenues of the major networks (CBS,
NBC, ABC, and FOX)?
Networks such as CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX obtain most of their revenue through
advertisements. The popularity of the network defines the how reliable they are. However, with
the increase usage of PVR in every household, networks such as ABC, CBS and NBC filed a
lawsuit against SonicBlue, maker of the ReplayTV personal video recorder. Their argument was
that the latest version of the ReplayTV device would remove them of revenue and reduce their
incentive to create programming.

4. Discuss the long run effects if a significant proportion of the viewers begin adopting these
advertising snipping systems.
Considering all the benefits that PVR has given to the viewer, it is understandable that the affect
that this device will have on them can be considered to be positive as well as negative.

Theory Of Teaching And Learning
Theory of Teaching and Learning Part 1. What I Believe about Teaching and Learning It is my
opinion that conventional teaching strategies cannot meet the requirements of the classroom
environment. First, the classroom environment has been culturally diversified. Second, not all
students have similar capabilities or work at the same rate even if they are of the same age. Third,
each student has their own learning style. In addition, some students do not react well to the
conventional strategies of teaching and, as a result, there is a lack of learning (Heimlich Norland,
2002, p. 18). A Constructivist teaching environment affords more opportunties for both teachers
and students, and makes learning more efficient and effective. The Montessori teaching technique
is one of the best techniques because of its eight fundamental principles (Lillard, 2005, p. 29).
These principles include: The premise that cognition and movement are closely interrelated, and
that movement can improve cognition and learning in students. It also holds that the process of
learning and well being are enhanced when an individual or student has some degree of control
over their lives. Individuals learn well when they develop an interest in what they are being taught.
The technique also holds that associating learning activities with a certain reward such as monetary
rewards and promises for better grades, adversely affects the learning process and negatively
motivates the students to learn

Disadvantages Of Virtual Learning Environment
The past decades were marked by the rapid development of the technology and the Internet. Such
rapid development has enabled the development of many other modern methods and approaches,
such as virtual learning environment (VLE), i.e. learning via the Internet []. A virtual learning
environment allows learners and all others engaged in educationand teaching to free themselves
from the limitations of timeand space, and carry out learning interactions in a flexible timeframe
and virtual sites that are not physically tied to one another. So, the VLE can be consider as a kind
of online learning platform which allows teachers to share educational materials with their students
via the web. Additionally, the development and presence of the computer... Show more content on

Due to that, the use of the VLE has increased and most of schools and universities now have a
functioning Virtual Learning Environment as a part of their teaching and learning programs. For
instance, even in primary and secondary schools the Internet based activities are generally added to
enrich presently learning activities.
It is important to highlight the deference between the virtual learning environment and the virtual
campus, which people usually equate. The virtual campus relates just to the University courses,
while the virtual learning environment relates to many other sectors. Also, if we are talking about
the VLE intended just for the university education, the virtual campus covers a set of courses which
is in the most of cases the whole education course which ends with diploma, while the virtual
learning environment can be employed even for smaller parts of the education

Short Stories In Native American Literature
Native American literature is in its self a very unique way of telling stories. In these types of
stories, I found that the stories were much different than the stories of the northern American
writers I was used too. What I found was the most interesting about the native American writers
that I was reading about is how similar the short stories and poems seemed. Erna Gunther, the
author of the Native American Literature article stated, These include ancient hieroglyphic and
pictographic writings of Middle America as well as an extensive set of folktales, myths, and
oral histories that were transmitted for centuries by storytellers and that live on in the language
works of many contemporary American Indian writers (Gunther). There was a very clear idea
that the native American writes were more alike in the themes and ideas that they were writing
about. It is not a surprise when I read and come across writers who have very different ways in
telling a story or poem. But what seemed to interest me when reading the work of two different
Native American writers is how similar they are and not as different as one would imagine. The
different prospective of writers are their true identities as a writer so it is amazing to see when
some writers can see through the same lens. When researching Native American writers, I came
across two writers, both women, with a similar back ground and also a very similar was of
showing amazing imagery when telling the stories. It was very clear

How Has Basketball Changed Over The Years
Basketball has been played all around the world and there are many different rules and
regulations when playing this sport. Basketball has many different levels of experience. There is a
level at the fifth and sixth grade level, the seventh and eighth grade level, the junior varsity level,
the varsity level in high school, the college level, and the professional level or National Basketball
Association (NBA). Basketball was invented in 1892 by a Canadian doctor named James Naismith.
He started with having simple rules so all the players were able to get used to playing the sport
very easily. Basketball has changed over the years and it will continue to change in the future.
For all the different levels of basketball, there are different rules and judgments on how the game
should be played. Basketball has many different ways to play effectively. It is a very competitive
sport and as a player it is his/her job to figure out which is the best way to beat the opponent on

The game was not very new and the people were very unsure about how to go about playing.
They say that it looked as if the players were just running around more than trying to play the
actual sport (Basketball in America). The early Olmec people were actually the first people to
start playing the game of basketball and this took place in Mexico. They started playing this
sport as far back as five hundred years ago. Basketball was played differently around the world.
When they first started playing basketball, nobody was for sure about how to go about the rules
and how to play it so they just had many different techniques and their own rules on how they were
about going about playing it (Basketball in

The Texas General Land Office
The Texas General Land Office or TGLO, has many responsibilities throughout the state of Texas.
Their main responsibility is to earn funds for the Permanent School Fund. The main way that
they raise money for this goal is by leasing out the land that has been set aside for this purpose.
The Texas General Land Office has around 700,000 acres for this purpose. This land is usually
leased for the production of oil and gas, development of commercial property, agriculture and
renewable energyprojects. This fund was created to raise money for Texasschools and was created
when Texas became a country in 1836.
The organizations other responsibilities include the preservation of the state s history, the
conservation of state resources, surveying the land within the state, providing veterans with land
and housing, maintaining the Alamo and veteran cemeteries in the state. They also educate the
public about environmental problems on the coast and how to prevent them. They also monitor the
coast for any oil spills and are there to help clean them up when they do happen. The TGLO
achieves this goal by being split into five different divisions. These are the history and archives
division, the energy and minerals division, the state lands division, the caring for the coast division,
and the veterans land board division. The history and archives division is responsible for
maintaining the records and maps of the state throughout its history. They also maintain all the

What Is The Purpose Of The Custom House Introductory Letter
The first third of the book I read consists of the first eight chapters of the book. I chose this book
since it is about a tale of crime and it seems intriguing since it can be relatable in my time period
even though it was written in the 1850. It can be relatable since their is sin from adultery of
Hester and how society works and judges people like how they shame Hester which is how our
culture and society is today. This book is different from other books since the book first starts off
with a long introductory essay which was called, The Custom House : Introductory . I can see
how people may skip over the essay since it seems to long and unimportant, but the essay serves
certain purposes. One purpose was to explain to the reader how he

The Effects Of Alcohol On Alcohol Abuse
As of January 2015 alcohol related deaths were represented as accountable for approximately 6%
of deaths worldwide. That is 3.3 million deaths from alcohol related car accidents to alcohol
poisoning. The consumption of alcohol can be tied with being a factor in a variety of diseases,
disabilities, tragedies, and crimes. An estimate of over 76 million people suffer from alcohol
dependence and abuse. Consumption of alcohol can become a serious threat to personal and
public health when an individual engages in activities such as binge drinking or drinking while
driving. In other words, harmful drinking is anytime an individual becomes unable to have full
perception and control of his/her surroundings because of alcohol. Harmful drinking can also be
defined as a pattern of alcohol consumption causing health problems that are directly connected to
alcohol. Underage drinking contributes to the 3 leading causes of death (unintentional injury,
homicide, and suicide) among persons aged 12 to 20 years. Most commonly teens experience
acute intoxication from binge drinking. On average, underage drinkers consume more drinks per
drinking occasion than adult drinkers. In 2010, there were approximately 189,000 emergency
rooms visits by persons under age 21 for injuries and other conditions linked to alcohol. The abuse
of alcohol in teens around the world is a significant problem to our society for the safety of others
and the younger generations. The issue at hand is whether establishing a

Raymond Starkey s Popular Mechanics
Among all the short story in Starkey s text, the one that really caught my attention is the Popular
Mechanics by Raymond Carver. The main element I focused on while reading is his style of
writing. The application of a very intense tone is nicely play out through the story and even within
the first sentence, his chose of word already uses the setting to foreshadow the problematic future.
In most of the cases, whenever we think about snow, it will be more about its momentary beauty of
falling pure white than its consequence of melting into dirty water. However, after more reading, I

Was Leni Riefenstahl A Nazi Sympathizer
A Nazi sympathiser is referred to be someone who is a member of the National Socialist German
Workers Party and agrees with opinion, and ideology. Since the end of World War II many have
debated whether Leni Riefenstahl was truly a Nazi sympathiser, a propagandist, or purely an
artist. Through the analyses of the evidence gathered in this case it is clear that Riefenstahl was
not a Nazi sympathizer; she purely did what she had to do to survive, just as every other citizen
whom lived through Nazi regime period did. Paragraph 1 Leni Riefenstahl was very passionate
about all hobbies and career paths she under took. As a film director Riefenstahl claimed to have
opposed Hitler s initial demands to direct Victory of Faith and Triumph of the Will . Though this
places question on why she hesitated to undertake this task at first. Due to her persistence for
what she loved to do which is clearly exemplified in her earlier childhood, this supports the idea
that she had a reason to decline. In Source E Riefenstahl does not seem to be pleased or passionate

Food Bank Volunteerism
Brisk fall air was wrapped around us as we inhaled the faint smell of musk in the fairly large
warehouse building. Around us was rows and rows of grocery store products all organized in
categories such as pasta, tomato products, and fruits. Our job here was to take boxes and carts full
of food and stock the shelves. These donations came from community members that did local food
drives for the Food Bank... This was four very long years ago. I was a freshman and was a
member of the Business Professionals of America which is an organization based off of business
and technology, but is enormously involved within the community and is consistently doing work
with different community services. In BPA one of the first community service projects I was
involved with was the Food Bank as described at the beginning. My fellow members and I
worked multiple hours at the Milford Food Bank and held numerous food drives to donate to
them. We also volunteered at different events they held and met some of the people that depend on

Forbes.com there are five overall benefits of volunteerism which include the feeling of having
more time, gaining and improving skills, becoming a healthier person, building experience, and
feeling more loved, (Horoszowski, 2015, para. 5). I agree with all five of these benefits from
personal experience. Volunteering is like ice cream, you can never have enough. After your first
project, you want to do more and broaden the variety of different projects you work with. When

The Preparation Plan for Redesigning Gadgets INC. Network
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to start redesigning the network for the small company. They are
requesting that the budget is kept as minimal as possible. The company Gadgets INC. has many
file and print servers that they would like to remain online in the newly done network. This
network has 100 workstations. With the workstations they have 20 Windows 8 computers, 60
Windows 7 computers, 20 Windows XP computers and four Windows Server 2003 machines. We
have been told from the ISP our internet access will be configured for us on the site. The ISP has
routers and will be giving us a static IP address. The agreement is that we have only one leased line
from our site to the ISP, the provided address is 64.249.169.4.
The newly configured network will have more capability and advantages to allow the servers to
get the data where needed quicker. With the new changes we will roll out a new IP addressing
scheme and it will not be static, it will be DHCP. This network will have static IP s only
addressed to servers and printers. We are going to have DNS, WINS roles put onto some of the
servers. We plan on delegating the group policies where needed, any group policy that will be
implemented will be stated in the Group Policy section.
The advantages of this network will be to provide faster intranetworking, faster speeds and allow
the servers to delegate the permissions in a more efficient manner. There are going to be
exclusions, and reservations made for select

A social mindset prevails in various parts of Croatian society. It is important to keep in mind that
Croatia has recently recovered from the Homeland war just twenty two short years ago. The
country has made tremendous strides towards reconstruction and recovery within the last decade.
Some major setbacks the country deals with today are that the majority of Croatian income comes
from government funding, social insurance, or public monopolies. Not from the revenues of truly
competitive companies. Therefore, any reforms that are introduced that are in opposition to or
address corruption, public overspending, or judicial inefficacy usually faces strong opposition
from privileged majority on top. On a more optimistic note Croatia has a growing force of
entrepreneurs who have innovative and vibrant ideas which are changing the way business in
conducted in many industries in Croatia. These entrepreneurs and their businesses follow strong
EU regulations and rules which make them perfect potential partners for American companies
looking to expand in the region. Market Challenges Croatia s developing Economy is still after its

include Judiciary inefficiencies infested with case back logs and a lack of expertise in commercial
affairs, and a complex non transparent bureaucracy. Corruption is also a major issue that people

The Face Behind Bitcoin
The Face Behind Bitcoin The Newsweek has gone too far by invading Satoshi Nakamoto s
private life without his consent. The reporter goes to the extent of going to confront Nakamoto
from his residence in temple city where he decides to involve the police because he never
consented on speaking with the reporter. In the letter he accuses Newsweek of printing false
reports concerning his life, and this has created a great deal of confusion and stress to him and
the family members. He finishes by asking the Newsweek to respect his privacy. The allegation
made on Mr. Nakamoto is not justifiable in any sense since he personally denied being involved
in the programming and invention of the bitcoin technology. The magazine is seen to have
developed its own thesis on the programmer s identity by matching Nakamoto s name and career
to the alleged creator of the digital currency system. He even argues out that he never heard the
term Bitcoin until his son told him. The reporter goes ahead to his home even after noticing Mr.
Nakamoto s character of not being social to the public. In the story he is described to be a man
with few words and very intelligent. The initial program document carried the name of Satoshi

Das Neue Kino cannot be characterized by a single ideology or style because the efforts of the
filmmakers of this movement were singular, yet the movement in its own respect expressed a wide
sense of dislocation induced by post war tendencies of German culture to repress its past. The New
German Cinema movement derives from the Young German Cinema movement, which attempted
to create a new cinema; however, resulted in a failed Germanyfilm that lacked a German audience.
It was the combined efforts of the Oberhausen group and the younger filmmakers of the Authors

In Italy, directors focused on the moral and economic conditions that came with the postwar
generation quickly after the war and addressed the war instead of not acknowledging as German
cinema did for so long. Unlike Alice in the Cities and The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, films
such as Bicycle Thieves depicted dislocation during the postwar period in the Neorealist style,
made in 1948, this film differs greatly from the two former films discussed. In Bicycle Thieves,
Vittorio De Sica delivers a political message regarding the difficulty of survival in postwar Italy,
but also conveys a sense of psychological dislocation through the character development of
Antonio Ricci. In many ways, Italy s economy is much to blame for Ricci s two year
unemployment in which the film begins, however, Ricci has as many internal struggles as he
does externally. Neorealism lies heavily on the depiction of real life problems depicting
common people and often used people from the street as actors, in this film the man who played
Ricci, Lamberto Maggiorani, actually was a factory worker, which helps solidify the film s
authenticity. Towards the end of Bicycle Thieves, Ricci s efforts to retrieve his stolen bicycle fail

Conservative And Liberal Argumentative Analysis
America s greatest battle ever fought is an ongoing clash between conservatives and liberals.
Conservatives and liberals is arguably the greatest rivalry in American history for the simple
fact that is has been going on since the beginning of politics. Naturally some people want to
make changes to progress and move forward toward greater and bigger things, while some tend
to to stick closer to the way thing are at that time because they benefit from it or are scared of
changes. All the conflicting topics between conservatives and liberals can be placed in either the
structure of the society, the role of the government or the progress of the nation. Liberals see the

When it comes to the structure of society, liberals tend to be more open to equal opportunities
and equality and, like to have society more in control of decisions that directly affect them. For
example, according to Giulia Squadrin in her essay Difference Between Conservatives and
Liberals , liberals strongly believe in freedom of choice with the belief that Women have the
right to decide what happens to their own body. To liberals this belief that people have the right
to there own body should not be alarming and is a given. Liberals believe people are not
properties and need to be allowed to make his or her own choices. On the other hand,
conservatives believe that the right to abortion is not for women to have. Conservatives believe
abortion is murder and a serious sin because they are very stuck to their religious views. Also,
when it comes to Euthanasia, the act ending a life to stop further suffering, liberals have the same
viewpoint that they do for abortion, to let the person decide what is best for his or her self. While
conservatives see Euthanasia as illegal and unethical for a doctor to deliberately

Hot Coffee, By Susan Saladoff
Homework Assignment I: Hot Coffee The movie, Hot Coffee , is a documentary film that was
created by Susan Saladoff in 2011 that analyzes the impact of the tort reform on the United States
judicial system. The title and the basis of the film is derived from the Liebeck v. McDonald s
restaurants lawsuit where Liebeck had burned herself after spilling hot coffee purchased from
McDonald s into her lap. The film features four different suits that may involve the tort reform. This
film included many comments from politicians and celebrities about the case. There were also
several myths and misconceptions on how Liebeck had spilled the coffee and how severe the
burns were to her. One of the myths was that many people thought she was driving when she
spilled the coffee on herself and that she suffered only minor burns, while in truth she suffered
severe burns and needed surgery. This case is portrayed in the film as being used and misused to
describe in conjunction with tort reform efforts. The film explained how corporations have spent
millions of dollars deforming tort cases in order to promote tort reform. So in the film Hot Coffee
it uses the case, Liebeck v. McDonalds, as an example of large corporations trying to promote the
tort reform, in which has many advantages and disadvantages to the United States judicial system.

Suffering In Toni Morrison s Beloved
Many people often associate various colors to different elements. Each color can represent many
stories and anything can gain a certain meaning from them. Whether it is the luscious bed of ripe
and fresh green grass, presenting the element of life, or the tiny black hole, displaying the element
of lack of freedom, or the alarming hot redand whiteflashes, blinding the eyes, demonstrating the
element of suffering. Similarly, in the novel, Beloved, Toni Morrison utilizes an assortment of
colors as a way to symbolize the multiple elements people go through: suffering, lack of freedom,
and life.
Throughout the novel, the element of suffering is seen through the color of red. The memory of that
suffering can be scarring, as well as acting as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when Baby Suggs is given the house 124 on Bluestone Road by Mr. Bodwin after
she is freed from being a slave, she repeatedly exclaims to Stamp Paid of how the white folks
came in [her] yard (211). This emphasizes the fact that the men are violating the rights of her
property. The blue represents the lack of freedom Baby Suggs is given as her rights are uncared
for on Bluestone Road. By violating those rights, they are essentially violating Baby Suggs s
rights of being a free woman. The system of the whites establishing ownership over Baby Suggs
by believing they could violate these terms of freedom by trespassing her property illustrates the
corrupt system of the slavery foundation. Thus, the author s use of blue which is represented in
Bluestone Road demonstrates her lack of freedom as the slave owners violate her property on
this road. Slavery influenced people to think that they could do whatever they want, when in
reality, they are violating the rights of a human being and her privacy. Thus, Baby Suggs still
remains a slave of the whitefolks. It may seem as though the color blue from the Bluestone Road
represents freedom as Paul D arrives there to the house 124 to begin a new life with a newfound
freedom, as seen through Denver, Sethe, and Paul D s shadows...holding hands (56). However,
the fact that Beloved is able to control and move Paul D as a ragged doll stripps his freedom and
establishes control over his life at house 124 on Bluestone Road (261). Thus, blue represents the
lack of freedom Paul D possesses at Bluestone Road. Additionally, when Stamp Paid is explaining
what had happened to his wife Vashti, he describes how she was instructed to wear a black ribbon
by the young master who slept with her (274). By forcefully making her give up her married life

Why Are Do Underdogs Win in Malcolm Gladwell s Blink and...
History has it that the underdogs of our society are ought to win due to their disadvantages. In
David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell (the author of Blink and Outliers) explores why the
disadvantaged misfits were able to win their greatest opposing giants. Gladwell initiates his
discovery with the Biblical story of David, an Israeli shepherd boy, who killed Goliathwith a
slingshot. He explains how the chances of the underdogs increase when they fight
unconventionally. In our society, our advantages can limit us to do the average rather than find a

There are times and places, however, when all of us depend on people who have been hardened
by their experiences (Gladwell 178). Remote misses overcame their battles because of the
unfavorable conditions; Nazis might have been better off if they had never bombed London.
Through the book, Gladwell talks about the inverted U curve that resembles a camel s hub. It
explains how having too many disadvantages (end of the tip) is as bad as having too many
advantages. He describes through statistics how too little classrooms are as bad as a classroom
full of 48 students, We have become obsessed with what is good about small classrooms and
oblivious about what also can be good about large classes. It s a strange thing isn t it, to have an
educational philosophy that thinks of the other students in the classroom with your child as
competitors for the attention of the teacher and not allies in the adventure of learning (Gladwell
201). Likewise, we often think poverty is a bad thing, but do not be surprised to know that the
richest of all people who drive the nicest of cars came from extreme remote misses of financial
shortages. Their harsh childhood has made them motivated to overcome by ways no one can
imagine. Gladwell s main purpose was to inform readers that smart can be dyslexic; genius can go

Personal Narrative-Lucid Dreaming
Lucid Dreaming
How do you know the difference between being awake and being asleep? Is it the feeling of

John Locke On Land Violation Of Labour
Hardin states that a finite world can support only a finite population; therefore population growth
must eventually equal zero (1243). Currently we live in a finite world with finite resources but use
them as though they are not. With the world population growing exponentially, one must
contemplate the potential of largescale resource loss. With Locke placing the greatest value of
propertyon the labour put into it and being absolutely essential for liberty then this has to give
some form of responsibility to whoever has placed labour on to the area. Before labour has
enhanced the quality of a land making it more productive it is essentially a natural waste land.
Therefore if you have enhanced the land with your labour then it is your responsibility to make
sure it is always productive and kept at this enhanced level. This is to insure that this natural
land is not wasted or spoilt. Locke strongly opposes waste or spoiling Nothing was made by God
for man to spoil or destroy (31). The concept that the wasting of property is a violation of natural
law implies one who earns property accepts some responsibilities for it. He was only to look that
he used them before they spoiled, else he took more than his share, and robbed others (46).You only

The Hound Of The Baskervilles By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay
Most often, people have an image in their mind when they think of detectives, whether the image
is a man in a trench coat holding a magnifying glass, a beloved childhood character like Nancy
Drew or the Hardy Boys, or the classic Victorian detective. While all of these may hold true, one
specific person comes to mind at the mention of a detective, Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Along with
images of detectives come preconceived ideas of what a detective or mystery novel should be or
what it should contain. Within the genre, numerous authors have stood out among the others and
set their own standard for these works of literature. In The Hound of the Baskervillesby Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle, Doyle employs juxtaposed settings, descriptive imagery, and the symbolism that each
convey to establish an immense attention to detail which maximizes the effectiveness of his
writing in the genre of detection in this classic Sherlock Holmes story.
Throughout the novel, Doyle sets up an immense contrast between the settings of the story which
acts as a guide to clearly distinguish between the locations and give insight into their symbolism.
In The Hound of the Baskervilles there are two distinct locations in which the story takes place,
London and Dartmoor. London is where the story begins, where Sherlock and Watson are first
introduced to the case, and where things first start to seem peculiar. Though these first events that
set up the mystery of the novel take place in London, London is a symbol of

A computer is a programmable machine that receives input, stores and automatically manipulates
data, and provides output in a useful format.
The first electronic computers were developed in the mid 20th century (1940 1945). Originally,
they were the size of a large room, consuming as much power as several hundred modern personal
computers (PCs).[1]
Modern computers based on integrated circuits are millions to billions of times more capable than
the early machines, and occupy a fraction of the space.[2]Simple computers are small enough to fit
into mobile devices, and can be powered by a small battery. Personal computers in their various

DEFLATION, AND BY COMPARING THEIR ECONOMIC EFFECTS CONSIDER HOW BOTH
CAN AFFECT THE CORPORATE SECTOR.
The essay will describe causes of inflation and deflation and explain how they can affect the
corporate sector.
1. INTRODUCTION DEFINITION OF INFLATIONAND DEFLATION
Inflation is a process in which the price level is rising and money is losing value. (Parkin, Powell,
Matthews p654)
Inflation tends to rise when at the current price level, demand for goods and services in the
economy are greater than economy s ability to produce goods and services.

As a respond to that workers demand pay increase and with higher cost business need to increase
its prices again В–that is called cost push inflation spiral.
Cost push inflation usually leads to a slower growth of company profits which can then feed
through into business investment decisions.
An increase in output prices, such as rise in wage rates or the cost of raw materials, increases firm
s costs. With higher costs, firms are less able to make profit. Some firms exit the market and, as a
result, aggregate supply is less and shifts to the left. The macroeconomic equilibrium changes, with
input prices push up inflation across the economy.
Cost push inflation usually leads to a slower growth of company profits which can then feed
through into business investment decisions.
THE ECONOMICS EFFECTS OF INFLATION AND DEFLATION
Inflation is costly when it is unanticipated because it redistributes income and wealth and creates
inefficiency in the economy.
(Parkin,Powell,Matthews p676)
There is widespread agreement that high and volatile inflation can be damaging both to individual
businesses and consumers and also to the economy as a whole.
However, economists disagree about the relative seriousness of inflation. The revision notes below
cover some of the main economic and social costs associated with persistent inflation in goods and
services.

character of the story is Scarlet O Hara. She is very full of pride and gets around a lot. As the
book begins she finds out the news that one of her beaus, Ashley Wilkes, is going to get married
to his cousin Melanie. Melanie is the opposite of who Scarlet was. She was nice, considerate,
always thinking of others before herself. Throughout the novel, a lovetriangle goes on with Scarlet,

big conflict. The only reason she married her first husband was to make Ashley jealous. This
however did not work for her. She still finds herself madly in love with Mr. Wilkes, as she thinks.

Framing Climate Change As An Issue Of Sustainable Development
Framing climate change as an issue of sustainable development also has positive impacts for the
governance of adaptation measures. It has been recognized that mitigation efforts have not sufficed
to stop or even minimize the damage of global warming, with experts agreeing that the INDCs will
not reach the intended reduction target of 2 degrees (International Energy Agency 2015). This has
been argued to be the result of a top down approach that centers on nation states making
international treaties concerning climate change(Harris 2012: 285). This is often unsuccessful
because, not only do states have competing interests, but this approach divorces the problem
from important economic issues (O Brien 2006: 3) However, the discourse of sustainable
development recognizes that the causes and effects of climate change are integral to all aspects
of global society. This entails that climate change policy is not only environmental but is also
concerned with decisions concerning aid lending, energy markets, and such decisions, are not
only made by states but by corporate bodies, but also by civil society and the everyday person
(Bulkely and Newell 2010: 106).
There has been a clear lack of leadership and direction within the global community prioritizing
climate change. Transnational corporations, especially those concerning the energy sector, are huge
contributors to the problems associated with climate change. Yet these corporations are extremely
politically powerful, such

Why Video Games Have Made A Shift Into Mainstream Pop Culture
The term pop culture can be defined as The culture of the people a culture that flourishes through
social interaction and mass media that is most actively involved in by the public. Pop culture can
cover a wide range of materials and as such should be looked at as a topic open to discussion,
interpretation as to why it is popular and what makes it popular. Since pop cultureincludes an
expansive spectrum of subjects I am going to be focusing on one of those and that is Video
games. In this essay I will be exploring the ideas and theories of why I believe video games have
made a shift into mainstream pop culture.
Culture
Before I start discussing video games I would like to explore the ideas of how cultures emerge
and how this eventually relates to my study. Lehman, D. R., Chiu, C. Y., Schaller, M. (2004) in
Annual review of Psychology define culture as represents a coalescence of discrete behavioural
norms and cognitions shared by individuals within some definable population that are distinct
from those shared within other populations These beliefs and behaviour whatever they may be in
any culture can give us a backing for realising individual or group goals that can often be
categorised in a variety of formal or informal ways. For example we could look at the eSports
international events of League of legends as a formal organization of a culture in effect, we have

experience beginning with novice and moving up to the final stage of expert. She describes how
every stage builds on and is dependent on the previous stage(s), and how one can learn from all of

These are all good examples of the multiple hats we as nurses must wear throughout caring for

Freedom is often viewed by having the right to be independent or to be free from servitude,
constraint, inhibition, and liberty (Oxford Dictionary). The word freedom derived from a
Germanic culture. Freedom has a different meaning to different people; for example kids, adults
and different races. Socially, politically, and religiously the word freedom fits into different
categories with different meanings depending on who thinks about the word. Freedom has a wide

When it comes to politics, people become very serious. Kids do not have much of a say in
politics when they are younger than 18, but once they turn 18, they can vote to elect someone to
run office. The problem with this is most young teens today do not know what is actually being
said in office. Teens think it would be funny or cool to vote for someone when the whole world
could crash. The word freedom effects teens in this way because they think oh, I have the right to
be free and have free speech which is true but that statement can not be taken lightly. Most young
teens do not have a clue about politics and vote anyways causing the voting pole to increase
towards one person running in office and it could be where that person is not favorited by the
older generation. Adults on the other hand are from an older generation who has deeper knowledge
of politics. The word freedom for adults politically could mean that they can vote for who they want
to because they are free to do so. Having two generations of people and different races politically
can cause problems with the freedom to vote. Also, African Americans have a different view on
freedom politically. African Americans can have very much the same view of an adult as well as
having their own independent view. In this case politically the word freedom means anyone can
have the right to vote and have free speech. Religious beliefs can often affect the word freedom as

Dooley, and Pyzalski (2009) cyber bullying by definition is an aggressive, intentional act carried
out by a group or individual, using electronic forms of contact, repeatedly and over time against a
victim who cannot easily defend him or herself. Cyber bullying is most prominent among today s
teenagers and youth. The motivation for this type of harm is stemmed from different agents and

Most often the bully lacks affection within their household or has been victim to some mode of
bullying which impels them to bully others. A families dynamic plays a key role in how a child
preserves themself and the people around them. If the parents exhibit violent and aggressive
behavior then the children tend to display the same traits. Research consistently finds that families
of bullies are lacking in warmth and closeness and are focused on power and dominance. Research
also indicates that bullies are likely to grow up without a father figure and that they are often
victims of physical and emotional abuse. (Duncan, 2009)
Another component that can spark cyber bullying is jealousy or envy. When an individual has
something he or she desires, a sense of envy or jealousy can arise. It can be envy of materialistic
items such as clothes, cars, money, or even jealously of social standing or relationships. Often times
this envy is the root of cyber bullying. What may begin as normal venting of frustrations can lead to
rumors and threats? Constantly individuals compare themselves them to their so called
competition. They feel that if they bring others down by means of bullying then they can improve
their own self esteem or self worth.
A third component that can induce bullying is a person who is different from them. They can be
different in several mannerisms such as cultural, physical and socio economic differences or even

A Perfect Competitive Market Structure
In the economy, market structures are examined thoroughly. There are four basic kinds of market
structures in economics: perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly.
Perfect competition is the one that is being focused on predominantly. A perfectly competitive
market is a market in which all market participants are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). Price takers
are producers and consumers whose actions have no effect on the market price of the good
(Krugman Wells 1). A perfect competitive market structure consists of three aspects that will be
discussed. When perfect competitioncomes to mind, the Organic FoodMarket structure can be
associated to it or the perfectly competitive market industry. In the Organic market, all the farmers
in the industry are each producing the same product for the buyers and sellers. The consumption
of the individual consumer or the production of the individual producer will not affect the market
price of the goods. In a perfectly competitive market all participating producers and consumers are
price takers (Krugman Wells 1). As stated by Paul Krugman and Robin Wells, in a perfectly
competitive market neither consumption decisions by individual producers affect the market price
of the good (Krugman Wells 1). There are two necessary conditions for perfect competition, the
first being that none of the producers have a large market share, and the second being that the
goods produced are being regarded as a

Charles Darwin s Theory Of Evolution
In January of 1925, the State of Tennessee passed a law called The Butler Bill that prohibited any
teacher within the State of Tennessee to teach any theory that denies the story of the Divine
Creation of man and that man descended from a lower order of animals. 1 Fundamentalism was the
basis of The Butler Bill. Fundamentalism is the belief in the literal interpretation of religious texts.
In June, a Tennessee high school substitute teacher named John Scopes was accused of teaching
Charles Darwin s theory of evolutionto students. The theory of evolution was a hypothesis that
species survived through natural selection , meaning the adaption of species evolving to better
themselves to a changing and threatening environment and that man evolved from apes. His theory
that Scopes taught was completely against the Butler law. Even though Scopes teaching of
evolution violated the Butler Law, he should have had the right to teach Darwin s theory because
religion should not have had any involvement with the education system.
The Scope Monkey Trial July 10, 1925, the trial of John Scopes began. The case attracted a lot of
attention that it broadcasted throughout the United States via radio. In Scopes defense, The
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), together with Clarence Darrow, a famous attorney from
Chicago, came to Scopes defense for the trial. . For the prosecution, Tennessee acquired the
attention of William Jennings Bryan, a three time Democratic presidential

Racial And Ethnic Disparities Of Health Care
Racial and Ethnic Disparities in Health Care Ksenia Bruner University of St. Francis Racial and
Ethnic Disparities in Health Care Introduction Although the United States is a leader in healthcare
innovation and spends more money on health care than any other industrialized nation, not all
people in the United State benefit equally from this progress as a health care disparity exists
between racial and ethnic minorities and white Americans. Health care disparity is defined as a
particular type of health difference that is closely linked with social or economic
disadvantage...adversely affecting groups of people who have systematically experienced greater
social and/or economic obstacles to health and/or clean environment based on their racial or ethnic
group; religion; socioeconomic status; gender; age; mental health; cognitive, sensory or physical
disability; sexual orientation or gender identity; geographic location; or other characteristics
historically linked to discrimination or exclusion (National Partnership for Action to End Health
Disparities [NPAEHD], 2011, p. 3). Overwhelming evidence shows that racial and ethnic minorities
receive inferior quality health care compared to white Americans, and multiple factors contribute to
these disparities, including geography, lack of access to adequate health coverage, communication
difficulties between patients and providers, cultural barriers, and lack of access to providers

Euthanasia Is A Form Of Doctor Assisted Suicide
Euthanasia is a form of doctor assisted suicide. There are many different types of Euthanasia and all
are currently illegal in the United States with the exception of the state of Oregon. When a patient
is being Euthanized they can be given an injection intravenously which causes their death this is
called Euthanasiaby action. A person could also be assisted to deaththrough euthanasia by omission;
this is when the patient is not provided with the appropriate things such as food or water. Also
patients can be given a medication that renders them into a deep sleep in which they are left to die,
either through the progression of their illness or through starvation. The most important aspect of
doctor assisted suicideis whether it is voluntary, involuntary or non voluntary. The difference
between non voluntary and involuntary is that non voluntary is when the patient does not request
to be euthanized but they are. Involuntary euthanization is when a person specifically asks that
they not be euthanized and they are. Although euthanasia is illegal some forms of it are still
regularly practiced in today s healthcare system. Euthanasia dates back to as early as 1828 when
the first law was written to outlaw anyone from providing a person with a dangerous weapon and
or a harmful chemical that would knowingly be used in the taking of a person s own life. This
would include taking the life of another person with their permission. In 1920 the book Permitting

Bolivar, By Simon Bolivar
When Hugo ChГЎvez was seventeen years of age, he joined the military in Venezuela and
embraced his country. When we speak of ChГЎvez, there were many before him who influenced
the man he wanted to be and became. ChГЎvez and most of Venezuela admired greatly SimГіn
BolГvar, SimГіn BolГvar was a
South American soldier who was instrumental in the continent s revolutions against the Spanish
empire. After France invaded Spain in 1808, he became involved in the resistance movement and
played a key role in the Spanish American fight for independence. In 1825, the Republic of
Bolivia was created in honor of the inspirational leader, hailed by many as El Libertador (The
Liberator). He died on December 17, 1830 in Colombia (SimГіn BolГvar). BolГvar was a
globetrotter and was a huge and crucial component to the revolutionary movement in South
America; he resisted the Spanish in many fronts and battles and succeeded.
BolГvar is the most significant character in South American history; he is seen as a hero and
liberator who brought independence to the people of South America and united them. Further, the
military of Venezuelaremains to resemble BolГvar s influences and his guidance. ChГЎvez as a
child was brought up with the teachings and history of BolГvar and this gave him great perspective

Uses And Methods Of A Magnetic State Reaction
Gadolinium (Gd) doped antiperovskite compounds Mn3Cu1 xGdxN were synthesized by the
conventional solid state reaction. With increasing Gd concentration, two magnetic transitions
appeared, at a high Curie temperature (TC1) corresponding to paramagnetic (PM) ferromagnetic
(FM) transition and a low temperature (TC2) ascribed to the FM antiferromagnetic (AFM)
transition. The magnetic relaxation results show the formation of a magnetic metastable state after
the FM AFM transition at low temperature(lower than TC2), forming a novel magnetic step feature
in the process from AFM to FM under a certain magnetic field.

However, besides conventional transition metal (TM) atoms, utilizing the rare earth atoms with 4f
electrons to replace Cu has not yet been achieved and may introduce new magnetic couplings such
as the f d and f f f couplings. These new exchange interactions may induce novel physical features in
the antiperovskite structures. Thus, a systematical investigation on the physical properties of rare
earth elements doped Mn3AN is required and may also benefit us in further understanding their
intrinsic physical properties and designing a new type of the device based on the antiperovskite
compounds.
In this study, Gd with a high TC of 289 K was selected to replace Cu, and a series of Mn3Cu1
xGdxN (x = 0.15, 0.17, 0.19, and 0.25) were synthesized. Both the structural and magnetic properties
measurement showed that with increasing Gd content, a typical FM PM transition appeared and
gradually shifted towards high temperature. Simultaneously, a FM AFM transition accompanied by
a crystal transition from cubic to tetragonal was observed and moves to low temperature with
increasing Gd content. With x in the range from 0.17 to 0.19, a typical magnetization step
characteristic was observed at 50 K owing to the magnetic phase separation.

called Basecamp, which is a virtual project management platform that is easy to use and can be
organized by specific topic, message, or subject matter. Another digital media platform is Zoho,
which is a CRM tool that provides collaboration both internally and externally. It runs on the cloud

However, many of the worlds irrigation systems are found in arid, semi arid environments,

are affected by salinization (Schwabe et al., 2011e). Saline environments tend to hinder
agricultural production by lowering crop yields, often quite substantially. The traditional
response to the threat of salinity induced crop yield reductions is to apply water in excess of
plant requirements so as to leach the salts out of the root zone. (Letey and Dinar, 1986). This
approach becomes particularly problematic in the case of climate change as reduced water
supplies likely in arid and semiarid regions where salinity is an issue work against such a response.

was established in order to combat the effects of dry land salinity. Working in cohesion with
landowners the management team in 2004, launched the Indigo Valley

The novel The Sari Shop focuses on the disproportionate distribution that exists in society. Both
Kamla and Ramchand are representative of it. They revolt against the higher classes. Kamla s
prolonged revolt ends with her death. But on the opposite side, Ramchand s revolt lasts for
twelve days and he locks himself up in his room. Ramchand very soon realizes about the futility
of human endeavor and the inability of the under privileged. He apologises before Mahajan and
gets back his job. Here the condition of the working classes gets reflected and the need to bring

Fame And Fortune By Horatio Alger Summary
After reading the first couple of chapters of Horatio Alger s novel Fame and Fortune or, The
Progress of Richard Hunter, I saw a lot of issues in relation to work. The one that stood out the
most, was the issue of education. The amount of education a person has should not define who
they are as a person, or have restriction on the kind of work they can or cannot do.
The book takes place in a time period were educations defines who you are as a person. If a person
has little education or no education at all they are looked down on, but if a person went to school
and was fully educated, they are not looked down on. People look up to them, and they start to

American truly is? Is a person American simply because of geography? According to Identities,
?America is a confluence of cultures.? Americans are people whose lives depict men and women
who are trying to be as successful and robust as possible, this quest is symbolic to citizens of many
other countries. This is why America illustrates the Statue of Liberty, a structure that symbolizes
freedom throughout the world. America is composed not only of these peoples, but the cultures and

person. Two Americans from the same country, living on the same street, have different ways of
practicing their religions, celebrating holidays, and pursuing their culture in general. Americans
can act freely, just as the Statue of Liberty depicts freedom to Americans. The Statue of Liberty is
a statue of freedom, giving Americans the right to live and practice their culture however they
want. There is no such thing as a true American identity. According to the essay Identities,
?Identity has always been a difficult question nagging the collective American mind.? No two
Americans are the same, no two live in the same manner. One person cannot tell another how to
live ones life; one person cannot define him/herself as living the American way of life. This is
because the Statue of Liberty symbolizes to people all over that America is the land of the free.
Americans are free to make their decisions about what it is to be an American and how one lives.
According to Identities ?Americans have argued and wondered about who they are.? The Statue of

  • 2. Pvr Case Study Essay Unit II Case Study Instructions 1. Discuss how PVRs will affect the demand from advertisers. In order to examine the effect that PVR has on advertising companies, we need to consider the needs of society and how will it benefit from this video recorder. Comfort is an important issue in today s society. The easy programming and the large video recording space, which reaches up to 60 hours, makes this devise very desirable. Moreover, the flexibility to play the recorded program repeatedly at the viewers most convenient time removes the need to schedule your day based on the programs. Advertising Companies depend on programs to promote products or services based on the client. However, because of PVR the viewer is capable of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Suppose that the expected number of viewers is one million people. What price should you charge? How many minutes of advertising will you sell? What is total revenue? b) Suppose price is held constant at the value from part (a). What will happen to the quantity demanded if due to PVRs the number of expected viewers falls to 0.5 million? Calculate the viewer elasticity based on the two points. Explain in words what this value means. 3. As more viewers begin using PVRs, what happens to the revenues of the major networks (CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX)? Networks such as CBS, NBC, ABC, and FOX obtain most of their revenue through advertisements. The popularity of the network defines the how reliable they are. However, with the increase usage of PVR in every household, networks such as ABC, CBS and NBC filed a lawsuit against SonicBlue, maker of the ReplayTV personal video recorder. Their argument was that the latest version of the ReplayTV device would remove them of revenue and reduce their incentive to create programming. Reuters, Dish and EchoStar Settle Patent Dispute With TiVo, May 2, 2011, The New York Times 4. Discuss the long run effects if a significant proportion of the viewers begin adopting these advertising snipping systems. Considering all the benefits that PVR has given to the viewer, it is understandable that the affect that this device will have on them can be considered to be positive as well as negative. • 3. Theory Of Teaching And Learning Theory of Teaching and Learning Part 1. What I Believe about Teaching and Learning It is my opinion that conventional teaching strategies cannot meet the requirements of the classroom environment. First, the classroom environment has been culturally diversified. Second, not all students have similar capabilities or work at the same rate even if they are of the same age. Third, each student has their own learning style. In addition, some students do not react well to the conventional strategies of teaching and, as a result, there is a lack of learning (Heimlich Norland, 2002, p. 18). A Constructivist teaching environment affords more opportunties for both teachers and students, and makes learning more efficient and effective. The Montessori teaching technique is one of the best techniques because of its eight fundamental principles (Lillard, 2005, p. 29). These principles include: The premise that cognition and movement are closely interrelated, and that movement can improve cognition and learning in students. It also holds that the process of learning and well being are enhanced when an individual or student has some degree of control over their lives. Individuals learn well when they develop an interest in what they are being taught. The technique also holds that associating learning activities with a certain reward such as monetary rewards and promises for better grades, adversely affects the learning process and negatively motivates the students to learn ... • 4. Disadvantages Of Virtual Learning Environment The past decades were marked by the rapid development of the technology and the Internet. Such rapid development has enabled the development of many other modern methods and approaches, such as virtual learning environment (VLE), i.e. learning via the Internet []. A virtual learning environment allows learners and all others engaged in educationand teaching to free themselves from the limitations of timeand space, and carry out learning interactions in a flexible timeframe and virtual sites that are not physically tied to one another. So, the VLE can be consider as a kind of online learning platform which allows teachers to share educational materials with their students via the web. Additionally, the development and presence of the computer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to that, the use of the VLE has increased and most of schools and universities now have a functioning Virtual Learning Environment as a part of their teaching and learning programs. For instance, even in primary and secondary schools the Internet based activities are generally added to enrich presently learning activities. It is important to highlight the deference between the virtual learning environment and the virtual campus, which people usually equate. The virtual campus relates just to the University courses, while the virtual learning environment relates to many other sectors. Also, if we are talking about the VLE intended just for the university education, the virtual campus covers a set of courses which is in the most of cases the whole education course which ends with diploma, while the virtual learning environment can be employed even for smaller parts of the education ... • 5. Short Stories In Native American Literature Native American literature is in its self a very unique way of telling stories. In these types of stories, I found that the stories were much different than the stories of the northern American writers I was used too. What I found was the most interesting about the native American writers that I was reading about is how similar the short stories and poems seemed. Erna Gunther, the author of the Native American Literature article stated, These include ancient hieroglyphic and pictographic writings of Middle America as well as an extensive set of folktales, myths, and oral histories that were transmitted for centuries by storytellers and that live on in the language works of many contemporary American Indian writers (Gunther). There was a very clear idea that the native American writes were more alike in the themes and ideas that they were writing about. It is not a surprise when I read and come across writers who have very different ways in telling a story or poem. But what seemed to interest me when reading the work of two different Native American writers is how similar they are and not as different as one would imagine. The different prospective of writers are their true identities as a writer so it is amazing to see when some writers can see through the same lens. When researching Native American writers, I came across two writers, both women, with a similar back ground and also a very similar was of showing amazing imagery when telling the stories. It was very clear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Basketball has many different levels of experience. There is a level at the fifth and sixth grade level, the seventh and eighth grade level, the junior varsity level, the varsity level in high school, the college level, and the professional level or National Basketball Association (NBA). They say that it looked as if the players were just running around more than trying to play the actual sport (Basketball in America). That is 3.3 million deaths from alcohol related car accidents to alcohol poisoning. The consumption of alcohol can be tied with being a factor in a variety of diseases, disabilities, tragedies, and crimes. An estimate of over 76 million people suffer from alcohol dependence and abuse. Consumption of alcohol can become a serious threat to personal and public health when an individual engages in activities such as binge drinking or drinking while driving. In other words, harmful drinking is anytime an individual becomes unable to have full perception and control of his/her surroundings because of alcohol. Harmful drinking can also be defined as a pattern of alcohol consumption causing health problems that are directly connected to alcohol. Underage drinking contributes to the 3 leading causes of death (unintentional injury, homicide, and suicide) among persons aged 12 to 20 years. The main element I focused on while reading is his style of writing. The application of a very intense tone is nicely play out through the story and even within the first sentence, his chose of word already uses the setting to foreshadow the problematic future. In most of the cases, whenever we think about snow, it will be more about its momentary beauty of falling pure white than its consequence of melting into dirty water. • 13. Was Leni Riefenstahl A Nazi Sympathizer A Nazi sympathiser is referred to be someone who is a member of the National Socialist German Workers Party and agrees with opinion, and ideology. Since the end of World War II many have debated whether Leni Riefenstahl was truly a Nazi sympathiser, a propagandist, or purely an artist. Through the analyses of the evidence gathered in this case it is clear that Riefenstahl was not a Nazi sympathizer; she purely did what she had to do to survive, just as every other citizen whom lived through Nazi regime period did. Paragraph 1 Leni Riefenstahl was very passionate about all hobbies and career paths she under took. As a film director Riefenstahl claimed to have opposed Hitler s initial demands to direct Victory of Faith and Triumph of the Will . Though this places question on why she hesitated to undertake this task at first. Due to her persistence for what she loved to do which is clearly exemplified in her earlier childhood, this supports the idea that she had a reason to decline. In Source E Riefenstahl does not seem to be pleased or passionate in anyway when shaking hands with Hitler after being referred to as his favourite cinematographer , Riefenstahl body language of lowering her face lightly downwards,... Around us was rows and rows of grocery store products all organized in categories such as pasta, tomato products, and fruits. Our job here was to take boxes and carts full of food and stock the shelves. These donations came from community members that did local food drives for the Food Bank... This was four very long years ago. I was a freshman and was a member of the Business Professionals of America which is an organization based off of business and technology, but is enormously involved within the community and is consistently doing work with different community services. In BPA one of the first community service projects I was involved with was the Food Bank as described at the beginning. They are requesting that the budget is kept as minimal as possible. The company Gadgets INC. has many file and print servers that they would like to remain online in the newly done network. This network has 100 workstations. With the workstations they have 20 Windows 8 computers, 60 Windows 7 computers, 20 Windows XP computers and four Windows Server 2003 machines. We have been told from the ISP our internet access will be configured for us on the site. The ISP has routers and will be giving us a static IP address. The agreement is that we have only one leased line from our site to the ISP, the provided address is 64.249.169.4. The newly configured network will have more capability and advantages to allow the servers to get the data where needed quicker. With the new changes we will roll out a new IP addressing scheme and it will not be static, it will be DHCP. This network will have static IP s only addressed to servers and printers. We are going to have DNS, WINS roles put onto some of the servers. We plan on delegating the group policies where needed, any group policy that will be implemented will be stated in the Group Policy section. The advantages of this network will be to provide faster intranetworking, faster speeds and allow the servers to delegate the permissions in a more efficient manner. The country has made tremendous strides towards reconstruction and recovery within the last decade. Some major setbacks the country deals with today are that the majority of Croatian income comes from government funding, social insurance, or public monopolies. Not from the revenues of truly competitive companies. Therefore, any reforms that are introduced that are in opposition to or address corruption, public overspending, or judicial inefficacy usually faces strong opposition from privileged majority on top. On a more optimistic note Croatia has a growing force of entrepreneurs who have innovative and vibrant ideas which are changing the way business in conducted in many industries in Croatia. In Italy, directors focused on the moral and economic conditions that came with the postwar generation quickly after the war and addressed the war instead of not acknowledging as German cinema did for so long. Unlike Alice in the Cities and The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant, films such as Bicycle Thieves depicted dislocation during the postwar period in the Neorealist style, made in 1948, this film differs greatly from the two former films discussed. In Bicycle Thieves, Vittorio De Sica delivers a political message regarding the difficulty of survival in postwar Italy, but also conveys a sense of psychological dislocation through the character development of Antonio Ricci. In many ways, Italy s economy is much to blame for Ricci s two year unemployment in which the film begins, however, Ricci has as many internal struggles as he does externally. Neorealism lies heavily on the depiction of real life problems depicting common people and often used people from the street as actors, in this film the man who played Ricci, Lamberto Maggiorani, actually was a factory worker, which helps solidify the film s authenticity. Hot Coffee, By Susan Saladoff Homework Assignment I: Hot Coffee The movie, Hot Coffee , is a documentary film that was created by Susan Saladoff in 2011 that analyzes the impact of the tort reform on the United States judicial system. The title and the basis of the film is derived from the Liebeck v. McDonald s restaurants lawsuit where Liebeck had burned herself after spilling hot coffee purchased from McDonald s into her lap. The film features four different suits that may involve the tort reform. This film included many comments from politicians and celebrities about the case. There were also several myths and misconceptions on how Liebeck had spilled the coffee and how severe the burns were to her. One of the myths was that many people thought she was driving when she spilled the coffee on herself and that she suffered only minor burns, while in truth she suffered severe burns and needed surgery. This case is portrayed in the film as being used and misused to describe in conjunction with tort reform efforts. The film explained how corporations have spent millions of dollars deforming tort cases in order to promote tort reform. So in the film Hot Coffee it uses the case, Liebeck v. This emphasizes the fact that the men are violating the rights of her property. The blue represents the lack of freedom Baby Suggs is given as her rights are uncared for on Bluestone Road. By violating those rights, they are essentially violating Baby Suggs s rights of being a free woman. The system of the whites establishing ownership over Baby Suggs by believing they could violate these terms of freedom by trespassing her property illustrates the corrupt system of the slavery foundation. Thus, the author s use of blue which is represented in Bluestone Road demonstrates her lack of freedom as the slave owners violate her property on this road. Slavery influenced people to think that they could do whatever they want, when in reality, they are violating the rights of a human being and her privacy. Thus, Baby Suggs still remains a slave of the whitefolks. • 28. John Locke On Land Violation Of Labour Hardin states that a finite world can support only a finite population; therefore population growth must eventually equal zero (1243). Currently we live in a finite world with finite resources but use them as though they are not. With the world population growing exponentially, one must contemplate the potential of largescale resource loss. With Locke placing the greatest value of propertyon the labour put into it and being absolutely essential for liberty then this has to give some form of responsibility to whoever has placed labour on to the area. Before labour has enhanced the quality of a land making it more productive it is essentially a natural waste land. Therefore if you have enhanced the land with your labour then it is your responsibility to make sure it is always productive and kept at this enhanced level. This is to insure that this natural land is not wasted or spoilt. Locke strongly opposes waste or spoiling Nothing was made by God for man to spoil or destroy (31). The concept that the wasting of property is a violation of natural law implies one who earns property accepts some responsibilities for it. The Hound Of The Baskervilles By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Essay Most often, people have an image in their mind when they think of detectives, whether the image is a man in a trench coat holding a magnifying glass, a beloved childhood character like Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys, or the classic Victorian detective. While all of these may hold true, one specific person comes to mind at the mention of a detective, Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Along with images of detectives come preconceived ideas of what a detective or mystery novel should be or what it should contain. Within the genre, numerous authors have stood out among the others and set their own standard for these works of literature. In The Hound of the Baskervillesby Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Doyle employs juxtaposed settings, descriptive imagery, and the symbolism that each convey to establish an immense attention to detail which maximizes the effectiveness of his writing in the genre of detection in this classic Sherlock Holmes story. Throughout the novel, Doyle sets up an immense contrast between the settings of the story which acts as a guide to clearly distinguish between the locations and give insight into their symbolism. In The Hound of the Baskervilles there are two distinct locations in which the story takes place, London and Dartmoor. • 39. Framing Climate Change As An Issue Of Sustainable Development Framing climate change as an issue of sustainable development also has positive impacts for the governance of adaptation measures. It has been recognized that mitigation efforts have not sufficed to stop or even minimize the damage of global warming, with experts agreeing that the INDCs will not reach the intended reduction target of 2 degrees (International Energy Agency 2015). This has been argued to be the result of a top down approach that centers on nation states making international treaties concerning climate change(Harris 2012: 285). This is often unsuccessful because, not only do states have competing interests, but this approach divorces the problem from important economic issues (O Brien 2006: 3) However, the discourse of sustainable development recognizes that the causes and effects of climate change are integral to all aspects of global society. This entails that climate change policy is not only environmental but is also concerned with decisions concerning aid lending, energy markets, and such decisions, are not only made by states but by corporate bodies, but also by civil society and the everyday person (Bulkely and Newell 2010: 106). There has been a clear lack of leadership and direction within the global community prioritizing climate change. Transnational corporations, especially those concerning the energy sector, are huge contributors to the problems associated with climate change. Yet these corporations are extremely politically powerful, such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why Video Games Have Made A Shift Into Mainstream Pop Culture The term pop culture can be defined as The culture of the people a culture that flourishes through social interaction and mass media that is most actively involved in by the public. Pop culture can cover a wide range of materials and as such should be looked at as a topic open to discussion, interpretation as to why it is popular and what makes it popular. Since pop cultureincludes an expansive spectrum of subjects I am going to be focusing on one of those and that is Video games. In this essay I will be exploring the ideas and theories of why I believe video games have made a shift into mainstream pop culture. Culture Before I start discussing video games I would like to explore the ideas of how cultures emerge and how this eventually relates to my study. Lehman, D. R., Chiu, C. Y., Schaller, M. (2004) in Annual review of Psychology define culture as represents a coalescence of discrete behavioural norms and cognitions shared by individuals within some definable population that are distinct from those shared within other populations These beliefs and behaviour whatever they may be in any culture can give us a backing for realising individual or group goals that can often be categorised in a variety of formal or informal ways. For example we could look at the eSports international events of League of legends as a formal organization of a culture in effect, we have official merchandise, promotions, advertising, a massive fan base and of course the athletes ... One of Benner s messages is that a well rounded professional does not miss out on opportunities to learn from life as well as in nursing school and in the nursing practice. In her theory Benner describes the 5 stages of nursing experience beginning with novice and moving up to the final stage of expert. The word freedom effects teens in this way because they think oh, I have the right to be free and have free speech which is true but that statement can not be taken lightly. Most young teens do not have a clue about politics and vote anyways causing the voting pole to increase towards one person running in office and it could be where that person is not favorited by the older generation. The word freedom for adults politically could mean that they can vote for who they want to because they are free to do so. There are four basic kinds of market structures in economics: perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly. Perfect competition is the one that is being focused on predominantly. A perfectly competitive market is a market in which all market participants are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). Price takers are producers and consumers whose actions have no effect on the market price of the good (Krugman Wells 1). A perfect competitive market structure consists of three aspects that will be discussed. When perfect competitioncomes to mind, the Organic FoodMarket structure can be associated to it or the perfectly competitive market industry. In the Organic market, all the farmers in the industry are each producing the same product for the buyers and sellers. The consumption of the individual consumer or the production of the individual producer will not affect the market price of the goods. In a perfectly competitive market all participating producers and consumers are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). As stated by Paul Krugman and Robin Wells, in a perfectly competitive market neither consumption decisions by individual producers affect the market price of the good (Krugman Wells 1).
