The Discovery Of Saudi Arabia
I asked a friend of mine to come with me to visit the Asian Art Museum. I told him that the
Museum is exhibiting pieces of recent archeological discoveries of Saudi Arabia. Since we were
both Saudis, we felt curious to explore the museum for the first time. When we arrived to the
museum, we paid 15 dollars each because we were adults. It was not until we finished our visit
that we realized that we could have used our student identification cards to pay only 10 dollars
each. However, we did not feel bad about it because we agreed that our visit was totally worth the
price; if not, what we paid for the entrance was very little.
Brief exploration of the Museum s galleries:
I was taking notes about my visit while exploring the content of the museum. The Asian Art
Museum is exclusively exhibiting recent discoveries of Saudi Arabia, under the title of Roads of
Arabia. The Roads of Arabia section is divided into four galleries. Each gallery contains objects
that present a theme. For example, the first gallery, which takes place in the Ocher gallery, has the
theme of Prehistoric Arabia. The gallery contains archeological objects and tools that date back to
a million years ago. Some archeological discoveries such as tools and stones show the presence of
prehistoric human settlements in today s Saudi Arabia. The theme of the second gallery is Incense
Roads, as it is held in the Hambrecht gallery. This gallery contains ancient objects that are
associated with the incense

The Little Rock Nine was a group of nine African American students who enrolled in Little Rock
Central High School in 1957. Their enrollment was very controversial and sparked many protests,
and was then followed by the Little Rock Crisis, in which the students were initially prevented from
entering the racially segregated school by Orval Faubus, the Governor of Arkansas. They then
attended after the involvement of President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The U.S. Supreme Court issued its historic Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas, on
May 17, 1954. Involved in the 14th Amendment, the decision declared all laws instating segregated
schools to be unlawful, and it called for the desegregation of all schools throughout the nation. After
the decision, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) attempted
to register black students in previously all white schools in cities throughout the South. In Little
Rock, the capital city of Arkansas, the Little Rock School Board agreed to comply with the high
court s ruling. Virgil Blossom, the Superintendent of Schools, submitted a plan of measured
integration to the school board on May 24, 1955, which the board unanimously ratified. The plan

In Aristophanes play the Frogs he exercises some privileges such as criticizing the politicians and
playing fun with the gods to make the situation seem more light and fun. He mostly sticks to the
main problem that their society is losing the Peloponnesian war and that if they don t return to the
old ways of thinking and doing things then the kingdom will fall. Through his play he points out
several flaws in their society and what they can do to fix them but refraining from offending anyone
by saying it through the humorous situations and tones of the play. Throughout the play
Aristophanesamuses and informs his audience through the songs of the chorus and the actions
and words of his characters. The chorus allows for a humorous and lovely way to sum up what

The question is why children are being affected by these games. Is it that the child are
mimicking what they see or is it effecting the child s brain. At Indiana University, Dr. Vincent
Matthews decided to create a study to watch brain patterns after playing violent video games.
They performed three different tests to find out how these games impacted the brain. They
picked out 28 students from campus to play either violent video games, first person shooter
games, or non violent games. What they found was after a couple hours playing these games
that those who play violent video games showed no brain activity in areas involving emotions,
attention, and impulses. There is science behind violent video games and their negative effects
on people. Researchers ran another test after the participants played the games. They held up
cards with non violent words like run or walk, and they were in different colors. They also held
up cards with violent words like hit or push which were also in different colors. Those who play
violent video games were equal to the non violent video gameplayers in the original testing but
when it came to the violent words, violent video gamers should no brain activity in the area of

Friday night the Trenton Tigers hosted the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks in one of their most
anticipated games of the season, with Port St. Joe as the reigning 1A state champions (for the

(and veteran) Greg Turner led the Tigers in saluting the Flag in remembrance of those who

the Baltic deportations. One day the Soviet secret police break into Lina Vilkas house ripping
her family apart. The NKVD demands Lina, her brother, and her mother to leave their house
immediately. They are captured and taken into crowded trains in which they are barely given any
food. Many people die inside the trains. The NKVD was trying to sell them for slaves, but Lina s
group was not taken, so they later go into working camps in which they suffer many obstacles
including starvation. Throughout the story, Lina is trying to understand the reason for her family s
deportation. She also has no idea where her dad Kostas is. She uses her talent of drawing... Show

Through work in this graduate programs here has been a constant gain of knowledge and new
perspectives being brought into light. For my interview, I chose a recent graduate looking to
start teaching business, health, and other life skills to high school students; this is mainly do my
inability to find the one area in student affairs I am truly passionate about, so I chose to speak
with one of the most passionate individuals I know. She did not wish for her name to be
included, so I am going to refer to her as Abby Rock. Abby places strong personal value on health,
wellness, nutrition, and wants to go back into high school to teach basic principles, from health and
business, to teenagers. To help her reach this goal, Abby chose to work towards getting her master s
degree in education with a focus on teaching. This was done simultaneously while she ran the
operations of her family s gym, completing her personal trainer certification, and observing
teachers in various classrooms to find her teaching style. I chose Abby because she is honest and
does not stray far from her beliefs; this interested me in how she will adapt to the classroom
environment instead of the typical gym environment she has been in.

Real life examples would be campuses across the United States, and individual municipalities across
Canada advocating against sweatshops, and advocating for sweat free goods. Student activists in
universities in the United States have started to disallow purchasing university merchandise from
factories that don t respect worker s rights. This push is coming from the United Students Against
Sweatshops, who have over the years organized strikes, rallies, and charity events to demand that
American universities make stronger policies to disallow clothing for students to come from
sweatshops. Pressure from students have made numerous universities support this cause.

factories are used to make university merchandise, and Nike did give the locations and names of its

worker s economic and social human rights. Student organizations in universities are also making
companies pay their workers more in order for them to meet the living wage. While this does
make prices for merchandise higher, it has a minimal impact on the consumer and a huge impact on
the worker. In this way students are improving the lives of many sweatshop workers around the

been trying to ensure that goods purchased by the city are not from sweatshops, and meet universal

States. Odd Girl Out by Rachel Simmons brings to light the hidden culture of aggression in girls.
Throughout the novel, Rachel goes over every aspect of female bullying. She includes first person
accounts with high schooland middle school students and some of the pressures from classmates,
friends, parents and teachers, and themselves. Every novel has its strengths and weaknesses. In
Odd Girl Out, Rachel Simmons does a nice job bringing to light a subject that is not explored very
often, however there is still so much we don t know and it is very hard to stop this activity from
happening.
Elaborating deeper on the strengths of this novel in general, this novel again explores teenage
aggression in girls that is often justified as a stage that will eventually pass. This is part of the
