Robert Frost Imagery
Robert Frost is an English poet who wrote several poems during the 1900 s. His poems include
The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Frost s Stopping by Woods
on a Snowy Evening is literally about a person who stops in the woods on the night of December
21st or the winter solstice. The owner of the woods lives in the village so he will not see the
speaker. When the speaker stops and looks into the woods, his horse shakes his bells. However,
the speaker wants to stay in the woods, but he has miles to ride before he can go to sleep.
Through his use of imagery, figure of speech, and sound effects, Frost illustrates the influences of
life and death in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening .
Frost uses several images to portray the ideas of life and death. For example, Frost writes to watch
his woods fill up with snow (Frost l. 4). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this poem, the rhyme scheme AABA remains constant for the first three stanzas. In the fourth
stanza, the rhyme scheme changes from AABA to AABB. The last line is repeated. Frost, wants
the reader to understand the importance of miles to go before I sleep . Frost repeats this line of
poetry because he wants the reader to see that people must fulfill their responsibilities before they
die. In this line, miles mean years, and sleep means death. The speaker has more years to live
before he dies. Another example of sound effects is Frost s use of alliteration in the form of only
other and sound s the sweep (Frost l. 11) in the line the only other sound s the sweep/ of easy
wind and downy flake (Frost ll. 11 12). This line is very soothing to the reader and implies that
death is silent. Then Frost adds of easy wind and downy flake (Frist l.12). This sound effect is
assonance, as one can hear the breeze of the wind and the snow falling to the ground. These two
sounds represent the ideas of death slowly

attention not to exploit, mislead, harm or further marginalize the participants. Researcher must be
objective and are charged with exploring bias and or areas of ethical concern; including but not
limited to personal bias and beliefs. Scholarly researchis seeking to answer questions that could
explain something of concern, or to describe causal relationships. Research should be geared
toward improving social issues and empowering the participants. Not an avenue to suppress, falsify

Essay on Thomas Malthus and the Principle of Population
1.Introduction
This essay deals with Thomas Malthus and the first two chapters of his Essay on the Principle of
Population . At first I will provide a short biographical note on Malthus and I will also mention his
main achievements. Then, a summary of Malthus main ideas of the first two chapters of mentioned
work follows. Afterward, the essay concludes with a personal note.
2.A short biography
Thomas Robert Malthus was born in 1766 (course textbook, n. d.) in Surrey, England, as the sixth
son of a wealthy intellectual family and he died in 1834 (Weikard, n. d.).
He was mainly concerned with population growth and poverty in the English society of his time. It
was an answer to the precarious human situation back then. Malthus ... Show more content on

This also puts a limit on the amount of procreation possible, but however, all species strive to
surpass these limitations (Malthus, p. 2). In this aspect, human beings are not any different from
plants or animals, but in contrast to them they do not only act out of instinct. Additionally, they use
their reasoning to determine whether they will be able to care sufficiently for their children
(Malthus, p. 2).
Malthus states that there are certain checks on population and points out that there is no society
without any check applied. An unchecked population increases in a geometrical ratio, what means
that it doubles itself every twenty five years. Instead, the available food does not increase
geometrically, but gradually diminishes, because of the limited amount of fertile land. In contrast to
the population, the agricultural production, under favourable circumstances, is able to only
increase in an arithmetical ratio (Malthus, p. 6). A gap between population growth and the amount
of food available rises. As a result, to further increase the food supply, it is necessary to improve
the quality of the soil (Malthus, p. 4). Malthus points out that there is still land which is not
cultivated, even in Europe, and that especially in this region it is possible to enhance the soil
quality due to the progress of the industrialization, but it will be gradually diminishing (Malthus, p.

Lord Brahm The Father Of Hindu Gods And God
Brahma, the father of Hindu gods and men, is depicted as the creator of the universe. He is the
first member of the Hindu Trinity and ruler of all. Brahma is acknowledged as the creator as he
periodically creates everything in the universe, periodically due to the Hindu cyclical belief of
everything being created for a certain period of time and destroyed only to be renewed in a new
form once again. Of the three greatest Hindu deities, Lord Brahmadominates the first position, that
of the creator. As creator of all things, Brahma must have people of his own flesh; the most
significant one, Goddess Saraswathy, consort and daughter of Brahma. Besides Saraswathy, there
are four sages that roam the universeas Brahma s first mind born creations and sons; Sanaka,
Sanatana, Sananadana and Sanatkumara. The four Kumaras were the only sons born out of
Brahma s mind rather than his body and were the only ones who refused his order to procreate,
therefore devoted themselves to Vishnuand celibacy. Brahma then went on to creating ten sons
(Prajapatis) from his mind, who are acknowledged as the fathers of the human race.
Lord Brahma s birth story is unique in its setting. He is said to have been born from Vishnu s navel
through the lotus flower. After the great flood, Vishnu summoned his creative powers and formed
earth in the shape of a lotus escalating from his navel. It is believed that Brahma developed from
this lotus, therefore having the lotus symbolize his birth. Brahma then

Meditation Not Medication
Meditation Not Medication Suicide from depression medication is becoming an issue.
Antidepressants should help you cope with your depression, not make you want to end your life.
Most antidepressants do not have the right kinds of effects on the prescription buyers. They have
serious risks and side effects but the users feel no different, if anything they feel worse. A risk on
the medication is the increase of suicidal thoughts. I have personally experienced the risk of
increased suicidal thoughts. In my personal experience antidepressants are ineffective and can do
more harm than good.
Research shows antidepressants do not work and can actually harm you. Killing yourself from the
side effects is something that americans are prescribed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Having depression since middle school, I have always had issues coping and keeping my
emotions under control. In high school I finally got the help I thought I needed. Going to my
doctor and having her prescribe me pills that, I hoped would help, made me feel like I was
finally in control of my sadness. Depression makes you feel hopeless, unworthy of life, and
many other emotions. You feel as if you are never good enough and you would be better off if
you just ended your sad story of a life. Once I started taking my daily dosage of the medication I
noticed that they were not working. My doctor gave me higher dosages in hopes I would start
feeling them work.
I noticed the pills affecting me but not in the way I had wished for. I felt as if I was blank and
emotionless. The pills made me feel dull and the actually made my depression worse. My
personality had vanished and I could no longer be myself. I have had multiple people come up to
me and tell me that I am a drag and that I bring down everyone in the room. They do not realize
how much that hurts someone who is battling themselves every moment they are awake. I have
tried the medication, the therapy, and staying positive but they have never been enough for my

The Similarities And Differences Between The Federalists...
The Federalists and the Democratic Republicans were the first political parties in the United States.
The Federalists were founded in 1790 and the Democratic Republicans were founded in 1792. They
had two different views on the constitution and how it should be interpreted. The Federalists wanted
the constitution to be interpreted loosely, while the Democratic Republicans believed the
constitution needed to be followed very strictly, almost word for word. There were many other
differences between the two parties, but one of the main ones was the way each of them interpreted
the constitution.
The two political parties views were different. Alexander Hamilton s party saw the United States

More Open Space By Jane Jacobs Summary
Jane Jacobs begins with an in depth explanation about neighborhood parks or park like open
spaces in her chapter, The uses of neighborhood parks . Essentially, city parks are based on their
usage. Jacobs explains that parks are volatile places and tend to run on extremes of popularity and
unpopularity. The self evident virtue, More Open Space, is talked about throughout the chapter.
Most cityplanners think it is good, but in reality, it is only good if it exists in a combination of its
uses. If a park is used all day, not on weekends or breaks, the park itself becomes a character of an
enjoyable neighborhood. Jacobs explains that it is important to understand general principles about
park behavior that is applied to all parks. She uses examples of the Penn s four squares to prove her

There are so many city parks that have been ruined by vandalism and other negative affects on
them. Coming from personal experience of being a full time nanny in the summer, I
acknowledge her explanation of good city parks. I would drive an extra 15 minutes to take the
children to a different park daily even though they had one, minutes away from their home. It
would take them away from watching TV and enjoying the simplicity of nature and socialize.
What attracts me to successful parks are fountains, flowers, shade, safety, views and most
important, the location of them. There are so many beautiful parks in my area but a few were
ruined based on the simple fact of bums taking them over. In Poland, where I go almost every
summer to visit my family, more parks filled with bums than there are for enjoyment. The
homeless saw these parks as a home and benches as beds. Jacobs clarifies that the worst problem
parks are located precisely where people do not pass by and likely never

The Cycle Of Fear In Monsters Are Due On Maple Street
Fear is the main source of superstition, and one of the main sources of cruelty. To conquer fear is
the beginning of wisdom. (Bertrand Russell). It is our fear that we must conquer, and none other
than The Twilight Zone shows such examples. The Twilight Zone is a television show from the
1960s that is made up of short stories in which an anomalous portal affects situations, giving a
pessimistic outlook on humanity as a species, especially on humannature. In the story, Monsters are
Due on Maple Street , the anomalies (aliens) create a series of events that make people have
suspicious thoughts, and the cycle of malicious thoughts lead to people scapegoatingeach other, and
eventually killing each other, finishing their job for them. We (humanity) are the monsters.
Humanity s thoughts are one of it s most deadliest weapons. For example, A last example of
thoughts is when Tommy began speak of about aliens. Tommy s thoughts kick off the entire event
that makes everyone kill each other. Not only that, but his fantasy world made Pete van Horn die.
(It s the monster!). A second example would be on page 7, when it says Charlie: He was an
oddball. Him and his whole family. Real oddball, (Serling, pg. 7). Even though he probably thought
that the Goodmans weren t that special, he thinks that someone is an alien, and that impairs his
ability to think rationally. And as another word on thoughts, on page 7, Nothing.... (then,
meaningfully) nothing except one car Yours!

Why Is The Oxford Comma Important
For me, writing this essay was difficult I had to find my passion, or something I am passionate
about, at least. And I had never really given this much thought. Even though I am in a high school,
where the primary goal is to get you to find what you care about, I had yet to have that moment of
realization. All I ve been doing is drifting through high school, passing all my classes, with no
predilection for any particular subject. So I had to think back to times where I cared about
something deeply. The first thing that I can think of is reading an article and finding outrage
when they refuse to use the Oxford Comma in a list. The Oxford Comma is the essential last
comma in a list, the crucial component of any fully formed list, and some have taken to
omitting it for some reason. While I do not fully understand why anyone would commit such a
crime, their omissions help me realize just how much we need the smaller pieces of something to
make it a whole. Whether it s the last piece of a puzzle or someone trying to make a living at the
bottom of the corporate ladder, every piece matters. Without a base, even the tallest tower would
fall. And the Oxford Comma has given me the ability to realize that. So this is why I... Show more

Unfortunately, journalists seem to totally disagree, which hurts me every time I read a list but I
digress. The Oxford Comma has shown me that other people may have different opinions than me,
and even though they may be totally and obviously wrong, that is okay. We all should accept the
fact that everyone may have different opinions; I think that, especially in our modern, on edge,
society, if we all take time to understand other people s opinions, whether we agree with them or
not, the world will be a better, more peaceful and calm

Irony In The Interlopers By Saki
The Interlopers is a short story written by Saki which details a feud between two men, Ulrich
von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym over a strip of land in a forest on the Carpathians. They plan to
fight to the death when they come across each other in the woods, but end up being pinned down
by a large tree. Eventually, they resolve their feud while they re stuck under the tree and become
hopeful as they hear a noise, assuming it s their fellow hunters coming to save them. It turns out
to be a pack of wolves, which allows the reader to assume the pair get killed in the end. Saki uses
irony in this short storyto show that one should let their past be the past and not let it interfere with
the present and future. Irony is a situation in which actions have an effect that is opposite from
what was intended, so that the outcome is contrary to what was expected (Dictionary.com).... Show

down on them (Saki). After so many years of their vendetta, it all came crashing down with the
tree because they were trapped by it, with nowhere else to go. The two, of course, came to a
mutual agreement to settle their conflict and become friends, all in a short time span despite the
fact that the controversy had lasted their whole lives. Finally, they hear a noise in the distance and
strain their eyes. They immediately assume it s a group of men coming to save them, but they are

How Does William Blake convey his anger in the poem...
How Does William Blake convey his anger in the poem London ?
The poem London by William Blake, relfects his feelings upon the society that he was living in ,
and how despreratly it needed help.
Blake thought that all of the poverty and misfortune that was happening on the streets were caused
by the political opression in
London. Blake was angered by what he saw in his homeland as other countries started fighting for
their indipendence and equality whilst his country stayed dormant, eventhough he felt that there
was a serious need for serious action.
Eventhough Blake wasn t a typical romantic writer, he too possesed the same beliefs of fighting

Another image that the writer creates, of an opressed scoiety, is the metaphor
mind for ged manacles , this is as the manacles are only forged by the mind thus, it not being real
so therefore anyone can break free from it anytime, but yet they chose to stay in self imprisonment.
The line mind for ged manacles also conveys Blake s anger towards the ignorance of the people in
country as he believed that they could break free from their imaginary prison cells, and fight the
authorities that were causing their poverty, just like in the French
Revolution.
One way that Blake uses to convey his anger on what he sees is through his constant repition on
certain words. In the first stanza,he repeats the word charter d twice. By repeating the word charter
d twice , it places furthur emphasis on the streets and thames being restricted by authority. The
word mark is then also repeated three times in the poem, by doing so, Blake is able to let the
reader take more awearness of the word mark and the story it is associated with, which is the mark
of Caine.
Caine was given a black mark on his face by God as he murderd his brother, the mark then
branded him as a sinner. However, eventhough the mark branded him as a sinner, it also protected
him from harm as anyone who harmed Caine was said to be punished with 30 times the damage
inflicted upon him. The story of Caine relates to London in a sense that

Self Evaluation Essay
The greatest start to the best speech is a good topic. The topic needs to be modern, up to date,
interesting and fun. All of this is depending on your audience as well, so you wouldn t want to
give a speech on the first phones invented to fifth graders. The topic should appeal to the
audience, and since most of my speeches will be done in my communication class my audience
will be current college students just like myself. This makes it a little easier preparing a speech
because I am a college student as well, so I have a bit of an idea of what may or may not appeal
to my audience. There are many things that I need to consider before giving a speech, things like,
how to be fully prepared with my information, how to not bore my audience to death,... Show more

And being a college student myself I know how easy it is to lose attention on something. So I need
to make sure during my speech to make it interesting and bring a visual aide because I know that,
that may help me share my information better with students who learn better with visual aids as
well as I do. As stated in our Frealeigh and Tuman textbook If you want audience members to
actively listen to your speech and ignore everything else going on you must motivate them to focus
on what you re saying. By selection supporting materials that appeal to your listeners interest, you
sweeten the odds that they will pay attention to you. So with this I feel that by getting something
that most of my classmates or audience can connect with, will make them feel the need to pay
attention to what I m saying and actually have their full attention the entire time.
I feel like also learning what my classmate s interests are may help me grab and keep their

famous people, or politics may help me peek their interest and keep their mind on me and what I

Negative Effect Of Video Games
Yesterday a child killed 16 people and injured many more in less than 20 mins. He is just a child,
how is this possible? Video games have become more popular with children, and adolescents,
copious amount of video games exposes children to violence. Did you know that children and
adolescents who played more violent games were most likely to report aggressive cognitions
and behaviors? (Toppo 2015) In today s society, violent video games such as Call of Duty have a
negative effect on health, growth and development, and posing a bad influence for children and
young adults. Due to the advancing technology video games are becoming more popular,
therefore having a negative effect on children and young adults. Call of Duty has a negative
effect on children due to the fact it is one of the most played video games. The plot of the story

Summary Of The Dooryard Bloom

April 10, 2015
When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Mourn When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d, one of
Walt Whitman s most popular poems was written to show his private mourning over President
Lincoln s death, in a public way. Whitman realizes his mourning is not his alone, it is a national
grief, and so he tries to vocalize his in a way that can be shared by everyone; he did so by
writing this poem (Rollyson). Whitman, drawn to the idea of a president that would emerge from
the frontier west, admired Lincoln more than most (Kreidler). His devastation by the loss of
President Lincoln, coming from his belief[s] and fervent admiration, can be seen in When Lilacs
last in the Dooryard Bloom s, but more notably in his most popular work, O Captain! My Captain!
(Kreidler). In writing, When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d Whitman showed his true colors
and took a highly personal note into his poetry, as well as incorporated symbols to describe the
depth his and the nation s desolation. In When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom, Whitman uses
symbols to express the nations, as well as his own, deep private mourning over President
Lincoln s death in a public way. Whitman s young life gives reason to this poem, as well as
adding to its overall tragic story. He was born in 1819 in West Hills, Long Island, the second of
nine kids; he was one of the few to be born in sound mental and physical condition. While Whitman

Relations Between China And China
Before establishing formal diplomatic relations with China, Singapore was already enjoying close
economic and political ties with China albeit on an informal basis. Both countries elevated their
relationship to a more formal level by establishing diplomatic relations on October 3 1990. Since
then, the economic and trade cooperation between the two nations has expanded steadily and
China has become Singapore s largest trading partner in 2014 with the bilateral trade amounting to
S$121.47 billion. From Singapore s perspective, being an entrepot city devoid of natural resources,
it had historically no choice but to be the middleman of all the trading nations, including China.
Due to its strategic and well located geographical position, Singapore had emerged as an important
middleman and reexport centre for natural rubber from Malaya to China and a distribution centre
for China s commodities to Southeast Asia. When reforms in China began to rejuvenate its internal
economy and to open it up to the global economy by signing a number of regional trade agreements
and by accessioning into the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in the year 2001, Singapore has
been actively pursuing economic opportunities in China. Singapore and China are contracting
parties to the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG),
which establishes a system of uniform sale of goods rules to govern the rights and obligations of
parties to international sales contracts

David Foster Wallace On Life And Work
David Foster Wallace widely considered one of the most brilliant writers of his generation. He
expresses the ideas that people these days need to learn on how to think and use that knowledge to
pay attention on what is going on in every day life. Also Wallace critiques people for thinking that
the world revolves only around them and disrespect other because of that. I find myself agreeing
with the author David Foster Wallace. Why? I ll answer that question furthermore in the essay. On
how do these theories relate to me, my own goals of who I want to be in the class, at this university

On David Foster Wallace on Life and Work he critiqued the generation now a days because not

False Superiority In Cinderella
Everything has a unique and individual purpose, whether it be philosophical conjectures, fantasy
stories with brilliant action packed scenes, or even silly children s movies that people disregard as
imaginary nonsense. Unsurprisingly, the story of Cinderella, written by the Grimm brothers, is not
excluded from the vast majority of objects that have a significant purpose and meaning behind
them. In the story Cinderella, numerous didactic lessons, meaningful morals, and thought provoking
themes are conveyed to the reader, including the conceptof false superiority, the idea of what being
kind despite difficult circumstances may lead to, and the widely believed in notion of karma. To
begin, the tale of Cinderella s upbringing and the people surrounding her portray the concept of
false superiority, which is the idea that people think they are superior as a result of superficial
characteristics when, in reality, they are inferior in a myriad of ways. For instance, Cinderella s
stepsisters exemplify false superiority because even though they were beautiful with fair faces,
they had evil and dark hearts (page 1). Furthermore, when Cinderella stood up, the prince looked
into her face, and he recognized the beautiful girl who had danced with him (page 6). This quote
depicts how societal standards for beauty and
Clarno 2 superiority are not accurate measures of self worth, for Cinderella was unquestionably the
true beauty from the prince s perspective. Moving on,

a question in a certain way. The interviewer must use more open questions to gain more in depth
information from the interviewee and then confirm this in depth by using closed questions to
ensure the data being collected is on track.
The open, axial and reflective coding method was used to analyse the data. Open coding is the
first coding method used in analysing the in depth interview data. Open coding helps to make
sense of the process and identify the root of the issue. The interviews were evenly split between
married and single women. Some of the issues for married women in the open coding stage were

Examples Of Consequentialism In Bhagavad Gita

World Civilization 111

Research Paper Hinduism (Bhagavad Gita)
Arjuna faces the tough decision of facing his own blood in war as he has to fight against his
relatives. As a result we get the distinction of duty and consequences, or deontology and
consequentialism. Deontology is the idea that believes that actions are right or wrong in
themselves, regardless of their consequence. On the other hand, consequentialism is defined as the
position that an action is right if it has good consequences and wrong if it has bad consequences.
This is an underlying theme in the Bhagavad Gita as Arjuna seeks help from his cousin, Krishna on
whether or not he should fight. The Bhagavad Gita shows the tension that Arjuna faces between
duty and consequences which ties into the belief of reincarnation and the purpose of the soul in
Hinduism.
Arjuna faces conflict when he has to make the decision to fight people that he was once friends
with and have to kill them in order to survive. When it comes time to fight Arjuna cannot bring
himself together to fight, but Krishna encourages Arjuna to fight by giving him advice through a
lot of philosophical matter. In the end this is what motivates Arjuna to fight again. Krishna provides
advice according to what Arjuna said about why he did not want to fight anymore. Arjuna s
argument can be summarized in two main points: the argument from personal happiness and the
argument from evil. The advice that

Adoption by Same-Sex Couples Essay example
Adoption by Same Sex Couples
19th Annual Robyn Rafferty Mathias Conference
I. Introduction
In recent years, there has been an increase in same sex couples applying to adopt children at both
infancy and from the foster care system. Although society s perception of a family normally
consists of a mother and father, the times are changing. According to the United States 2000
Census, this societal perception of a normal family, referred to as the nuclear family , only
represents less than 24%, of households in the U.S. The notion of the nuclear family is ever
changing in today s society, and with this change must come a more open view of who can adopt
children. It is clear that there are several issues regarding gay and ... Show more content on

By allowing same sex couples to adopt, children who would normally linger and age out of the
foster care system can be put into permanent and loving homes.
II. Parenting Capabilities of Same Sex Couples One of the main reasons that some individuals
feel that same sex couples should be banned from adopting children is due to the belief that they
are incapable. There are various amounts of scientific research compiled by the American Civil
Liberties Union that shows that the parenting practices of same sex couples are just as good as
those of heterosexual couples. The ACLU released a document entitled Too High a Price: The
Case Against Restricting Gay Parenting. In this document there is a detailed overview of the
scientific research done in this field. This research focuses on the psychological, emotional, social,
and cognitive developments of children raised by same sex couples, the quality of parenting of
these couples, and the sexual and gender development of the child or children in their home. In
looking at these key factors, researchers were better able to make comparisons between same sex
couples and heterosexual couples. These studies used various groups of people including single
lesbian mothers, gay fathers, heterosexual couples, and heterosexual single parents. In order to
conduct the studies, researchers used psychological tactics, which included both interviews and
intensive examinations of both the parents and children.

A Brief Note On Israeli And Japanese Pregnancy Processes
Tsipy Ivry s book on Israeli and Japanese pregnancy processes is an important work towards
feminist anthropology and the study of pregnancy and birth in anthropology. The focuses of
pregnancies brought to term in Israel and Japan, and the U.S. have many differences. The
importance of genetic testing in the U.S. and Israel, and the lack of importance of it in Japan is
very interesting and culturally based. In an updated paper from 2011, Rayna Rapp expands on
birthing practices and childbearing in New York City, in regards to genetic testing. Rapp also
spread their studies into how western reproductive technology has spread to developing nations
and the phenomena of wealthy westerners heading to less economically developed countries for
IVF, stem cell, and other reproductive treatments and services. For example, embryotic tissue is
regarded differently and more secularly in India than many Euro American discourses and thus
many seek medical treatment in India that are from other countries. The IVF process greatly
effects marriages and depending upon its success further impacts partnerships and marriages, as
well as gendered expectations of motherhood and fatherhood. Many women in rural countries, in
good health, will donate their eggs too for monetary gain. Furthermore, IVF can be complicated by
cultural and religious beliefs and practices. For example, in Israel traditional IVF is banned but
obtaining eggs from other non Jewish women is permitted, or in Sharia Iran, the

Family Values In American Family
In 1840s, Asian American community began to be formed when a large number of Chinese
immigrants arrived in the United States as contract laborers. Immigration from Asian countries has
increased since 1970s. The two types of Asian immigrants coming to America at this time were
voluntarily immigrants and refugees. While Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese are immigrants who came
to the United Statesfor business purposes, Vietnamese, Laos, and Cambodian are refugees who tried
to escape their countries in the World War II.
The majority of Asian Americanfirst generation come from a strong tradition of extended and
kinship ties. Although these ties are disconnected during migration, they have been quickly
reconstructed to shape family patterns in the historical periods (Zhou 29). Contemporary Asian
immigrants from different countries of origin mostly come with their families. They also bring their
cultures and values in their home country to the United States. There are some common family
values in the Asian American family that are distinguishable, such as emphasis on the centrality of
the family, filial piety, respect for the elders, and reverence for tradition and education. While these
traditional values offer a strong moral basis sustaining the Asian American family, they have often
clashed with dominant American cultural values and have caused emotional pain and detrimental
consequences in the family and community (Zhou 30). Other than that, when the first wave of

Before my recent clinical placement I had some awareness on how specific illnesses such as
CODP could affect a patients breathing, hence impairing quality of life, however I did not
realise the impact shortness of breath could have on a patients emotional and physical state. If a
patient is struggling physically to cope it is quite easy for a healthcare professional to observe
and as a result provide the correct level of support, however a patient s psychological condition
can not be as easily observed, so it is up to the healthcare professional to ask and monitor any
recognised changes in a patient s behaviour (DH 2010b). I was aware of the positive effects that
oxygen therapy could have on a patient s health and wellbeing, but lacked the necessary knowledge
regarding the negative effects of administering an inaccurate amount of oxygen to a patient (NMC
2006e). Oxygen is potentially a dangerous drug if administered inaccurately, for example over
oxygenation of a patient suffering from COPD can result in patient fatality (National Patient

on their level of hypoxia rather than the normal dependency on hypercapnia and this is why patient

Stand Your Ground Law And Black Youth
ABSTRACT
Stand your Ground Law and Black Youth
The controversies surrounding Stand your Ground Laws have recently captured the nation s
attention. From the infamous Trayvon Martin case, in Florida alone, 26 children have been killed
in Stand Your Ground cases. Since 2005, eighteen states have passed laws extending the right to
self defense with no duty to retreat to any place a person has a legal right to be. Despite the
implications that these laws may have for public safety, there has been little empirical investigation
of their impact on crime and victimization. In this paper, I will be researching reasons why Stand
your Ground Law was implemented, the impact of this law on crime and victimization against
black youth. Focusing on many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was claimed to have used justifiable use of force though he was told not to follow Trayvon,
and he was not suppose to have gun being the community watchman. Due to the conditions that
triggered the shooting this induced major media coverage and the big topic being discussed at the
time was using Stand Your Ground laws which allows individuals to use force, including lethal
force, in self defense when there is reasonable belief of a threat, without having any duty to retreat
first. Stand your Ground law states that a person may use deadly force in self defense without the
duty to retreat when faced with a reasonable perceived threat. When Stand your Ground laws
were advocated in Florida and other states, their proponents marketed them as a reestablishment
of a natural right, arguing the duty to retreat has not always been a part of the common law .
The historical context may be misleading, allowing self defense only when reasonably necessary,
and a duty to retreat when attacked outside one s home. The National Rifle Association seek to
influence the Stand your Ground Law as a away for people to protect themselves. Though
opponents who were against this law worried it would encourage the use of deadly force. For
example, a 2004 case James Workman, a seventy seven year old retiree who was sleeping in his RV,
where an intruder busted into the trailer. James shot the intruder and had to wait months for the
verdict. Prosecutors then decided the shots he

By this how many of us have an application on our phones that lock the usage while driving? I

Gothic Fiction And Traditional Fairytales
Gothic fiction is a product of human curiosity, fascination and fear. This genre of literature
represents human fears in a more symbolic and allegorical way, allowing readers to address their
phobias in a safe frame. Gothic fiction is mistakenly associated with adult fiction due to the
common belief that the gruesome events described in this mode of literature are inappropriate for
children. Nevertheless, kids are the ones who have the biggest questions and fears. Gothic fiction,
with its grotesque creatures and spooky places, turns kid fears into fictional characters that are

Of course, these elements do not appear as sinister as in adult Gothic fiction, but the basis is the
same. A proof for their presence is Karen Coats observation. As Coats puts it, traditional Gothic
stories for adults provide fairytale themes and motifs with an evil tone (78). If there were not any
similarities between these two genres of literature, traditional adult Gothic would not use fairytales
as a basis. Furthermore, considering that Charles Perrault s Little Red Riding Hood is a splendid
example of traditional fairytales, it is worth observing if Gothic elements can be traced in it. Little
Red Riding Hood includes characteristics that resemble Gothic fiction s characteristics as
presented by David Punter; an emphasis on portraying the terrifying, a common insistence on
archaic settings, a prominent use of the supernatural... (cited in Roberts 21). Firstly, the setting is
terrifying; a young girl alone in the woods. Secondly, the use of supernatural is profound; the wolf
can speak and think like humans. According to Coats, this kind of elements in classic fairytales,
like creepy settings, forbidden wishes and evil villains, are associated with children s dangerous
impulses and aggressions (78). The role of fairytales is to deal with these unwanted urges

Should Huckleberry Finn Be Taught In Schools Essay
Mark Twain s novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has caused controversy over whether it

Phone Call
Phone Call Texts can be interpreted in many different ways. Phone Call by Berton Roueche, is a
short story drama about a delivery man whose truck breaks down and gets into a bit of trouble.
This short story is a good example of how you can find two very different readings in the same
story. The dominant reading is that the male is innocent and the woman is just paranoid and overly
suspicious. The resistant reading is that the female is innocent and has the right to be suspicious
and the male is guilty with the intent to take advantage of her. In the dominant reading it is told
through a first person male point of view, this positions the audience to believe what the man is
saying. The dominant reading portrays the man as an innocent and... Show more content on

Is Ralph A Good Leader Essay
What makes up a leader? In the book Lord of the Flies, whose author is William Golding, this
question wasn t well thought through before a leader was chosen. Though the main characters
are only little kids, they had a challenging choice they had to make; they had not the slightest
idea that the choice that they would make might amount to some of them losing their lives. In
the Lord of the Flies, a group of boys from an all boys school, crash landed on an inhabited
island. Upon arriving on the island, they had to choose who would be chief. Mostly everybody
chose the same kid as a chief. Though, only a handful of boys, the choir boys were loyal to their
choir leader, Jack, voted him as chief. Yet the result was the same, Ralph was chief. The reason
behind why the kids nominated Ralph chief was because he looked more appealing than jack and
he seemed to know what to do. Like for instance, the kids were bewildered when they saw that
Ralph had the conch in his hands and that he was not the man with a trumpet. Then they realized
that Ralph was the man with the trumpet and perceived that he would make a fine leader. I say
overall: his honesty, his ability to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nicole smith writes in her article, What Ralph represents symbolically is more meaningful to the
boys at this point than his actual skills, (smith). This is true, even though the kids were not told that
ralph was supposed to symbolize leadership, order, and responsibility, they saw somehow that he
was made up of those things. This idea is supported in the novel where it says, They obeyed the
summons of the conch, partly because Ralph blew it, and he was big enough to be a link with
the adult world of authority, (Golding 59). The kids see Ralph as a natural leader. He keeps order
and is organized. The kids are satisfied that ralphs is responsible about doing his job as a proper

Estrogen Levels
Home
All men experience a drop in their levels of testosterone as they age. This usually begins as soon as
they are in their early 30 s. And though aging is nothing to fear, this natural diminishing of the
hormone causes unwanted side effects that can affect a man s fertility, sexuality, and health. This is
because low testosterone levels can lead to estrogen dominance in a man, and a hormone imbalance
is created. But to raise the testosterone levels, one must also lower the estrogen levels. Because of
this, some men are starting to use a natural anti estrogen product to help them regain their sense of
masculinity, so they look and feel younger.
Why Should Men Worry About Estrogen Levels?
Just as some people think that testosterone is strictly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Answer: There are many estroblockers available on the market. They all have different ingredients
and attributes that make them. To find the best one for you, do some research on each of them. But
be sure to only take the natural based kind because other pharmaceutical types can have some
dangerous side effects to them.
Question: Will changes to my estrogen levels affect my fertility?
Answer: Too much estrogen in a man s body decreases his sperm count and can also cause
impotence or difficulty performing sexually. By lowering high levels of estrogen, these negative
effects are reversed, so a man s fertility is improved.
Question: Will lowering my estrogen help with my acne?
Answer: Acne can be caused by an imbalance of hormones in the body, so by correcting this
imbalance, many men will find that their skin becomes clearer. However, initially there might be
an increase in acne until the hormones level out. Keeping the skin clean and free from oil and dirt
will also help to reduce blemishes though.

The Youth Justice And Other Legislation Act 2014
In 2014, the Government initiated the Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2014.
This act introduced new changes that were made to provide fair outcomes and reasonable
punishments. This assignment will focus on four of the changes made to the act and evaluate how
the introduction of the Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2014 has impacted on
consequences for youth in the youth justice system. Recommendations for changes the government
could make will also be stated.
Part 4 Division 2 of the Children s Court Act 2000 states that the Childrens Court will now be an

(Queensland Law Society 2014). This quote shows that, even after going to court once, children
will repeat offences and opening the Childrens Court will not help the rehabilitation of these
repeat offenders. However, the public is let in to see the cases and will learn about the court
processes, providing a better understanding, and if the case is of a sexual nature, the victim will
feel much more comfortable with the court being closed, and will be able to easily tell the complete
truth.
The Youth Justice and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2014 gives the media the authorisation to
publish identifying information of a repeat offender at any stage during a court proceeding.
(Department of Justice and Attorney General, 2014). A first time offender is anyone who has not
been found guilty, at any time throughout a proceeding. First time offenders being named publicly
remains prohibited by section 301. (Department of Justice and Attorney General, 2014). However,
Ian Brown, President of The Queensland Law Society, states that he strongly believes that publicly
naming a child coming before the courts should be prohibited. He believes letting the media
broadcast classified information of repeat offenders could become a major difficulty in terms of
getting the repeat offender back on the right track. (Department of Justice and Attorney General,
2014). The publishing of a repeat offender s name during a proceeding could

  • 2. Robert Frost Imagery Robert Frost is an English poet who wrote several poems during the 1900 s. His poems include The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Frost s Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening is literally about a person who stops in the woods on the night of December 21st or the winter solstice. The owner of the woods lives in the village so he will not see the speaker. When the speaker stops and looks into the woods, his horse shakes his bells. However, the speaker wants to stay in the woods, but he has miles to ride before he can go to sleep. Through his use of imagery, figure of speech, and sound effects, Frost illustrates the influences of life and death in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening . Frost uses several images to portray the ideas of life and death. For example, Frost writes to watch his woods fill up with snow (Frost l. 4). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this poem, the rhyme scheme AABA remains constant for the first three stanzas. In the fourth stanza, the rhyme scheme changes from AABA to AABB. The last line is repeated. Frost, wants the reader to understand the importance of miles to go before I sleep . Frost repeats this line of poetry because he wants the reader to see that people must fulfill their responsibilities before they die. In this line, miles mean years, and sleep means death. The speaker has more years to live before he dies. Another example of sound effects is Frost s use of alliteration in the form of only other and sound s the sweep (Frost l. 11) in the line the only other sound s the sweep/ of easy wind and downy flake (Frost ll. 11 12). This line is very soothing to the reader and implies that death is silent. Then Frost adds of easy wind and downy flake (Frist l.12). In this aspect, human beings are not any different from plants or animals, but in contrast to them they do not only act out of instinct. Additionally, they use their reasoning to determine whether they will be able to care sufficiently for their children (Malthus, p. 2). Malthus states that there are certain checks on population and points out that there is no society without any check applied. An unchecked population increases in a geometrical ratio, what means that it doubles itself every twenty five years. Instead, the available food does not increase geometrically, but gradually diminishes, because of the limited amount of fertile land. In contrast to the population, the agricultural production, under favourable circumstances, is able to only increase in an arithmetical ratio (Malthus, p. 6). A gap between population growth and the amount of food available rises. As a result, to further increase the food supply, it is necessary to improve the quality of the soil (Malthus, p. 4). Malthus points out that there is still land which is not cultivated, even in Europe, and that especially in this region it is possible to enhance the soil quality due to the progress of the industrialization, but it will be gradually diminishing (Malthus, p. ... • 6. Lord Brahm The Father Of Hindu Gods And God Brahma, the father of Hindu gods and men, is depicted as the creator of the universe. He is the first member of the Hindu Trinity and ruler of all. Brahma is acknowledged as the creator as he periodically creates everything in the universe, periodically due to the Hindu cyclical belief of everything being created for a certain period of time and destroyed only to be renewed in a new form once again. Of the three greatest Hindu deities, Lord Brahmadominates the first position, that of the creator. As creator of all things, Brahma must have people of his own flesh; the most significant one, Goddess Saraswathy, consort and daughter of Brahma. Besides Saraswathy, there are four sages that roam the universeas Brahma s first mind born creations and sons; Sanaka, Sanatana, Sananadana and Sanatkumara. The four Kumaras were the only sons born out of Brahma s mind rather than his body and were the only ones who refused his order to procreate, therefore devoted themselves to Vishnuand celibacy. Brahma then went on to creating ten sons (Prajapatis) from his mind, who are acknowledged as the fathers of the human race. Lord Brahma s birth story is unique in its setting. He is said to have been born from Vishnu s navel through the lotus flower. Essentially, city parks are based on their usage. Jacobs explains that parks are volatile places and tend to run on extremes of popularity and unpopularity. The self evident virtue, More Open Space, is talked about throughout the chapter. Most cityplanners think it is good, but in reality, it is only good if it exists in a combination of its uses. If a park is used all day, not on weekends or breaks, the park itself becomes a character of an enjoyable neighborhood. The Twilight Zone is a television show from the 1960s that is made up of short stories in which an anomalous portal affects situations, giving a pessimistic outlook on humanity as a species, especially on humannature. In the story, Monsters are Due on Maple Street , the anomalies (aliens) create a series of events that make people have suspicious thoughts, and the cycle of malicious thoughts lead to people scapegoatingeach other, and eventually killing each other, finishing their job for them. We (humanity) are the monsters. Humanity s thoughts are one of it s most deadliest weapons. For example, A last example of thoughts is when Tommy began speak of about aliens. And I had never really given this much thought. Even though I am in a high school, where the primary goal is to get you to find what you care about, I had yet to have that moment of realization. All I ve been doing is drifting through high school, passing all my classes, with no predilection for any particular subject. So I had to think back to times where I cared about something deeply. The first thing that I can think of is reading an article and finding outrage when they refuse to use the Oxford Comma in a list. The Oxford Comma is the essential last comma in a list, the crucial component of any fully formed list, and some have taken to omitting it for some reason. While I do not fully understand why anyone would commit such a crime, their omissions help me realize just how much we need the smaller pieces of something to make it a whole. Whether it s the last piece of a puzzle or someone trying to make a living at the bottom of the corporate ladder, every piece matters. Without a base, even the tallest tower would fall. Irony In The Interlopers By Saki The Interlopers is a short story written by Saki which details a feud between two men, Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym over a strip of land in a forest on the Carpathians. Eventually, they resolve their feud while they re stuck under the tree and become hopeful as they hear a noise, assuming it s their fellow hunters coming to save them. It turns out to be a pack of wolves, which allows the reader to assume the pair get killed in the end. Saki uses irony in this short storyto show that one should let their past be the past and not let it interfere with the present and future. The poem London by William Blake, relfects his feelings upon the society that he was living in , and how despreratly it needed help. Blake thought that all of the poverty and misfortune that was happening on the streets were caused by the political opression in London. Blake was angered by what he saw in his homeland as other countries started fighting for their indipendence and equality whilst his country stayed dormant, eventhough he felt that there was a serious need for serious action. The line mind for ged manacles also conveys Blake s anger towards the ignorance of the people in country as he believed that they could break free from their imaginary prison cells, and fight the authorities that were causing their poverty, just like in the French Revolution. One way that Blake uses to convey his anger on what he sees is through his constant repition on certain words. In the first stanza,he repeats the word charter d twice. By repeating the word charter d twice , it places furthur emphasis on the streets and thames being restricted by authority. Whitman realizes his mourning is not his alone, it is a national grief, and so he tries to vocalize his in a way that can be shared by everyone; he did so by writing this poem (Rollyson). Unsurprisingly, the story of Cinderella, written by the Grimm brothers, is not excluded from the vast majority of objects that have a significant purpose and meaning behind them. In the story Cinderella, numerous didactic lessons, meaningful morals, and thought provoking themes are conveyed to the reader, including the conceptof false superiority, the idea of what being kind despite difficult circumstances may lead to, and the widely believed in notion of karma. To begin, the tale of Cinderella s upbringing and the people surrounding her portray the concept of false superiority, which is the idea that people think they are superior as a result of superficial characteristics when, in reality, they are inferior in a myriad of ways. For instance, Cinderella s stepsisters exemplify false superiority because even though they were beautiful with fair faces, they had evil and dark hearts (page 1). Furthermore, when Cinderella stood up, the prince looked into her face, and he recognized the beautiful girl who had danced with him (page 6). Examples Of Consequentialism In Bhagavad Gita Rikin Patel Brian Donohue World Civilization 111 29 October 2014 Research Paper Hinduism (Bhagavad Gita) Arjuna faces the tough decision of facing his own blood in war as he has to fight against his relatives. As a result we get the distinction of duty and consequences, or deontology and consequentialism. Deontology is the idea that believes that actions are right or wrong in themselves, regardless of their consequence. On the other hand, consequentialism is defined as the position that an action is right if it has good consequences and wrong if it has bad consequences. This is an underlying theme in the Bhagavad Gita as Arjuna seeks help from his cousin, Krishna on whether or not he should fight. The Bhagavad Gita shows the tension that Arjuna faces between duty and consequences which ties into the belief of reincarnation and the purpose of the soul in Hinduism. Arjuna faces conflict when he has to make the decision to fight people that he was once friends with and have to kill them in order to survive. When it comes time to fight Arjuna cannot bring himself together to fight, but Krishna encourages Arjuna to fight by giving him advice through a lot of philosophical matter. In the end this is what motivates Arjuna to fight again. Krishna provides advice according to what Arjuna said about why he did not want to fight anymore. Introduction In recent years, there has been an increase in same sex couples applying to adopt children at both infancy and from the foster care system. Although society s perception of a family normally consists of a mother and father, the times are changing. According to the United States 2000 Census, this societal perception of a normal family, referred to as the nuclear family , only represents less than 24%, of households in the U.S. The notion of the nuclear family is ever changing in today s society, and with this change must come a more open view of who can adopt children. By allowing same sex couples to adopt, children who would normally linger and age out of the foster care system can be put into permanent and loving homes. II. Parenting Capabilities of Same Sex Couples One of the main reasons that some individuals feel that same sex couples should be banned from adopting children is due to the belief that they are incapable. There are various amounts of scientific research compiled by the American Civil Liberties Union that shows that the parenting practices of same sex couples are just as good as those of heterosexual couples. The ACLU released a document entitled Too High a Price: The Case Against Restricting Gay Parenting. In this document there is a detailed overview of the scientific research done in this field. This research focuses on the psychological, emotional, social, and cognitive developments of children raised by same sex couples, the quality of parenting of these couples, and the sexual and gender development of the child or children in their home. In looking at these key factors, researchers were better able to make comparisons between same sex couples and heterosexual couples. These studies used various groups of people including single lesbian mothers, gay fathers, heterosexual couples, and heterosexual single parents. In order to conduct the studies, researchers used psychological tactics, which included both interviews and intensive examinations of both the parents and children. ... • 30. A Brief Note On Israeli And Japanese Pregnancy Processes Tsipy Ivry s book on Israeli and Japanese pregnancy processes is an important work towards feminist anthropology and the study of pregnancy and birth in anthropology. The focuses of pregnancies brought to term in Israel and Japan, and the U.S. have many differences. The importance of genetic testing in the U.S. and Israel, and the lack of importance of it in Japan is very interesting and culturally based. In an updated paper from 2011, Rayna Rapp expands on birthing practices and childbearing in New York City, in regards to genetic testing. Rapp also spread their studies into how western reproductive technology has spread to developing nations and the phenomena of wealthy westerners heading to less economically developed countries for IVF, stem cell, and other reproductive treatments and services. For example, embryotic tissue is regarded differently and more secularly in India than many Euro American discourses and thus many seek medical treatment in India that are from other countries. The IVF process greatly effects marriages and depending upon its success further impacts partnerships and marriages, as well as gendered expectations of motherhood and fatherhood. Many women in rural countries, in good health, will donate their eggs too for monetary gain. Furthermore, IVF can be complicated by cultural and religious beliefs and practices. For example, in Israel traditional IVF is banned but obtaining eggs from other non Jewish women is permitted, or in Sharia Iran, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Family Values In American Family In 1840s, Asian American community began to be formed when a large number of Chinese immigrants arrived in the United States as contract laborers. Immigration from Asian countries has increased since 1970s. The two types of Asian immigrants coming to America at this time were voluntarily immigrants and refugees. While Korean, Chinese, Taiwanese are immigrants who came to the United Statesfor business purposes, Vietnamese, Laos, and Cambodian are refugees who tried to escape their countries in the World War II. The majority of Asian Americanfirst generation come from a strong tradition of extended and kinship ties. Although these ties are disconnected during migration, they have been quickly reconstructed to shape family patterns in the historical periods (Zhou 29). Contemporary Asian immigrants from different countries of origin mostly come with their families. They also bring their cultures and values in their home country to the United States. There are some common family values in the Asian American family that are distinguishable, such as emphasis on the centrality of the family, filial piety, respect for the elders, and reverence for tradition and education. While these traditional values offer a strong moral basis sustaining the Asian American family, they have often clashed with dominant American cultural values and have caused emotional pain and detrimental consequences in the family and community (Zhou 30). Administration of oxygen therapy is the aspect of nursing practice that I selected as a result of completing the case based learning scenarios. I will explain how the administration of oxygentherapy can have an effect on a patient s activities of daily living (ADL), including some of the psychological and ethical issues. Breathing is the selected ADL that has been chosen to demonstrate how I implemented the aspect of nursing practice on clinical placement. Before my recent clinical placement I had some awareness on how specific illnesses such as CODP could affect a patients breathing, hence impairing quality of life, however I did not realise the impact shortness of breath could have on a patients emotional and physical state. If a patient is struggling physically to cope it is quite easy for a healthcare professional to observe and as a result provide the correct level of support, however a patient s psychological condition can not be as easily observed, so it is up to the healthcare professional to ask and monitor any recognised changes in a patient s behaviour (DH 2010b). I was aware of the positive effects that oxygen therapy could have on a patient s health and wellbeing, but lacked the necessary knowledge regarding the negative effects of administering an inaccurate amount of oxygen to a patient (NMC 2006e). Oxygen is potentially a dangerous drug if administered inaccurately, for example over oxygenation of a patient suffering from COPD can result in patient fatality (National Patient Safety Agency 2009a). My mentor briefly explained how some patient s respiratory drive depends on their level of hypoxia rather than the normal dependency on hypercapnia and this is why patient s with COPD should be given oxygen with caution as it can ... From the infamous Trayvon Martin case, in Florida alone, 26 children have been killed in Stand Your Ground cases. Since 2005, eighteen states have passed laws extending the right to self defense with no duty to retreat to any place a person has a legal right to be. Despite the implications that these laws may have for public safety, there has been little empirical investigation of their impact on crime and victimization. Due to the conditions that triggered the shooting this induced major media coverage and the big topic being discussed at the time was using Stand Your Ground laws which allows individuals to use force, including lethal force, in self defense when there is reasonable belief of a threat, without having any duty to retreat first. Stand your Ground law states that a person may use deadly force in self defense without the duty to retreat when faced with a reasonable perceived threat. When Stand your Ground laws were advocated in Florida and other states, their proponents marketed them as a reestablishment of a natural right, arguing the duty to retreat has not always been a part of the common law . The historical context may be misleading, allowing self defense only when reasonably necessary, and a duty to retreat when attacked outside one s home. The National Rifle Association seek to influence the Stand your Ground Law as a away for people to protect themselves. As Coats puts it, traditional Gothic stories for adults provide fairytale themes and motifs with an evil tone (78). If there were not any similarities between these two genres of literature, traditional adult Gothic would not use fairytales as a basis. Furthermore, considering that Charles Perrault s Little Red Riding Hood is a splendid example of traditional fairytales, it is worth observing if Gothic elements can be traced in it. Though the main characters are only little kids, they had a challenging choice they had to make; they had not the slightest idea that the choice that they would make might amount to some of them losing their lives. In the Lord of the Flies, a group of boys from an all boys school, crash landed on an inhabited island. Upon arriving on the island, they had to choose who would be chief. Mostly everybody chose the same kid as a chief. Though, only a handful of boys, the choir boys were loyal to their choir leader, Jack, voted him as chief. Yet the result was the same, Ralph was chief. The reason behind why the kids nominated Ralph chief was because he looked more appealing than jack and he seemed to know what to do.
