The Science Of Human Physical Activity
In Chapter one of our text, Introduction to Kinesiology the Science of Human Physical Activity by
Stephan Wallace. We are introduced to three major types of movement, Sportive movement,
symbolic movement, and supportive movement. At the basis of all three movements they are very
similar although they highlight different attributes of an athlete or a person living an everyday
lifestyle. Sportive movement is identified as a skill related physical activity, meaning any
competitive activity that has a clear winner or loser. Sportive movement also has the implication
that one person can be superior to another in that sport because, their skill level is significantly
higher than other teammates. An example would be a varsity football athlete and a college
football athlete. What can make the college player superior than a varsity player is that his muscle
mass has a higher density, making the hits have a greater force than that of a varsity player.
Another possibility that could make the college athlete s performance be superior is the skill level
at which they train at. Symbolic movement refers to physical activity that expresses thoughts and
feelings through the body; the main emphasis being physical expressiveness (Wallace 2013). This
type of movement is seen in the art division, such as dance, music, poetry, literature. With symbolic
movement, we are expressing our thoughts; our feelings by using more than just words, we paint a
visual picture with our language or our

The praxis test that I am required to pass is the Mathematics content and Knowledge (5161) test
in order to complete my degree program. I have taken this paper version of the test one previous
time. Unfortunately, I fell just short of passing the test by a few points. The next available test
date for this test was May 20, 2016; however, I am currently scheduled to retake the test on
Saturday June 11, 2016 at 3:30 pm. What I learned from my previous experience of taking the
test is that it is best to complete the test when all of the required knowledge is fresh on your brain.
I made the mistake last time of scheduling my test over the summer. This was a huge mistake,
because after my test prep class ended after spring semester, I never studied

Dulce Et Decorum Est Tone Analysis
In his poem, Dulce Et Decorum Est poet Wilfred Owen utilizes horrific imagery, angry and
disgusted tones, and a contrasting title to engage readers.
Throughout the poem, Owen makes clear two major tones. Anger and Disgust. To establish this
point, the poet says Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge (lines 2 3). This
reveals how the poet was angry about being in the war because he wasn t experiencing the
romanticism of war he was experiencing suffering of fighting. An additional example is when
Owen adds But limped on, blood shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to
the hoots (lines 6 8). These lines imply Owen s disgusted tone towards the war because the
soldiers were worked to death. However the title has a completely different tone. The translated
title states It is sweet and fitting to die for one s country. This is a huge contrast to the rest of the
poem because all the poet describes is the horror of being in the war, when the title puts a
glorified image in your mind that serving is heroic and honorable. For instance, Owen states My
friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, the old

For example, Owen conveys He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning (line 16). This
constructs an extremely horrific image in the reader s mind that helps the reader better understand
the horribleness of war by displaying a tragic event Owen experinced. Another representation of this
is when the poet states Come gargling from the froth corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as
the cud (lines 22 23). This additionally recreates the horrors Owen went through as a soldier in their
mind. Furthermore, the horrific imagery present in Dulce Et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen assists
the poet in educating the readers that war should not be

Overcoming Obstacles Of Determination
Victory is like gaining trust; hard to earn, but you also have to put some effort in. Victory is not
also about winning; it s also about changing, as one cannot progress without change. Victory is
not always about winning; it s also about how you are determined to succeed so therefore
determination is like a soldier; to survive a conflict, you must persevere to continue. This is why
Freedom Writers directed by Richard Lagravenese, Divergent by Neil Burger, Glory Road directed
by James Gartner, and The Pursuit of Happiness by Gabriele Muccino, all set in different times
were attempting to express the message that, overcoming obstacles takes effort, resilience, and
determination. The films are mainly about how the protagonist who struggles in life overcame their
obstacles by having determination, being resilient. The director cleverly use Dialogue to justify that

REGRESSION
In statistics, regression analysis is a statistical process for estimating the relationships among
variables. It includes many techniques for modeling and analyzing several variables, when the
focus is on the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables.
More specifically, regression analysis helps one understand how the typical value of the dependent
variable (or criterion variable ) changes when any one of the independent variables is varied, while
the other independent variables are held fixed.
SIMPLE LINEAR REGRESSION
In simple linear regression, we predict scores on one variable from the scores on a second variable.
The variable we are predicting is called the criterion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The coefficient of determination (denoted by R2) is a key output of regression analysis. It is
interpreted as the proportion of the variance in the dependent variable that is predictable from the
independent variable. Range from 0 to 1.
For example, if r = 0.922, then r 2 = 0.850, which means that 85% of the total variation in y can be
explained by the linear relationship between x and y (as described by the regression equation). The
other 15% of the total variation in y remains unexplained.
Overall Model Fit
Dependent variable: Science Score
Parameter Estimates
math The coefficient for math is .389. So for every unit increase in math, a 0.39 unit increase in
science is predicted, holding all other variables constant. female For every unit increase in
female, we expect a 2.010 unit decrease in the science score, holding all other variables constant.
Because femaleis coded 0/1 (0=male, 1=female), the interpretation is easy: for females, the
predicted science score would be 2 points lower than for males. socst The coefficient for socst is
.050. So for every unit increase in socst, we expect an approximately .05 point increase in the
science score, holding all other variables constant. read The coefficient for read is .335. So for
every unit increase in read, we expect a .34 point increase in the science score.

The Importance Of Replicants In The Movie Blade Runner
In the movie Blade Runner, humans create androids that resemble humans physically and have
human emotion, implanted memories and the purpose to work as slaves. Throughout the course of
the movie these androids, which are later referred as replicants, start to realize their desire to live
longer as humans do and to try to prevent their death. Humans are threatened by this desire the
replicants build and start killing them off to prevent any destruction replicants might cause. A belief
that these replicants should not be granted humanrights comes into play and sets the audience to
question whether replicants can be perceived as human or not. Replicants are seen as non human
throughout the movie Blade Runner, yet still live lives filled with emotion as humans do. Therefore,
rather than calling replicants non human, they should be called persons and should be granted
human rights because they reflect real human emotion and had no part in their own creation. This
constitutes their innocence making them undeserving of punishment. Humans in the film create
replicants to reflect what a human would act, think and look like. They mirrored their image for
these androids intending for them to be created with a lifespan of four years, implanted memories,
and to be used as slaves. Human rights should be granted to replicants because it is unfair to give
a life memories and an emotional quotient, to then take away their life when their job is done or
when their due date is

From the Journal of Sofonisba Anguissola:

I have painted many self portraits in my life, but the one that sticks out the most to me is the one
in which I painted myself holding a book. I was born in a time, when women typically were not
encouraged to obtain an education. My family, however, went against the grain, and actively
supported my sisters and I in our education. Even today, as I write this, my society celebrates
women for our virtue and beauty, (Niyazi, 2011) with our sole purpose being solely the ambition
to marry and bear children (Niyazi, 2011). Nowadays, women in Italy are consigned to sit in their
palazzos and pursue needle work (Burke, 1995) when not occupied with ... Show more content on

I avoided these female signifiers (Niyazi, 2011) so that the audience would not connect my image
with beauty, which is something that is traditionally connected to women in my society. I created
this image to look masculine in order to show that I am mature, independent, and self possessed
(Niyazi, 2011). Even the background behind me has nothing that would detract from this; the
background is a rich green color that only makes my figure stand out to the viewer.
I can only hope that the women that have looked at this portrait of me are inspired to pursue their
goals and dreams, no matter how foolish they may seem to be by society. I have been fortunate
enough to be allowed to break away from my expected norms and go after the arts. I hear that I am
the first known woman artists to achieve international fame, (Clara, 2012) which means that my
efforts and my talents have not gone in vain. It is my humble wish that decades from now, women
can look at this painting and see that their efforts to be more equal to men are worth and so
important.
Amongst the paintings that I have created, there are several others that I think are an important
contribution to the study of art. The first one is The Family Group, which I painted in 1558. In this
painting, the central figures are my father, Amilcare, my sister Minerva, and my only brother,
Asrudbale. In the painting, my father s attention is focused on my brother, while my sister stands
behind them. This painting represents

Second Great Awakening Essay
During the Second great Awakening, new ethics and morals in the U.S were formed which molded
the changes in our government and beliefs in the Antebellum Period. The Second Great Awakening
created Protestant based religions that were the main influences that shaped the Antebellum Period.
Slavery reforms, sobriety, women s rights, and Temperance in the Antebellum Period, between the
War of 1812 in the Civil War, all descended from the Second Great Awakening. The Second Great
Awakening gave birth to a whole new set of religions and increased the membership in many
Protestant based religions. The Second Great Awakening turned the U.S into a religious country.

This idea carried into the Antebellum Period and was the backbone for the reforms that occurred in
it. The belief of a perfect Community meant that there should be equality even in skin color. For
example, the Abolitionist Movement, lead by people like William Lloyd Garrison, Frederick
Douglass, and Harriet Tubman, was a movement to end slavery and discrimination of African
Americans. The Abolitionist Movement was a movement for equality. Equality was one of the
main goals and influences in The Second great Awakening that carried into the Antebellum Period.
The religions created in the The Second Great Awakening also included the creation of
perfectionism. Perfectionism was not fully supported by Baptists and methodists because they did
not believe it would stop all sins. The main sin they did not think could be stopped by perfectionism
was drinking alcohol. In the Antebellum period, the Temperance Movement was one of the biggest
social reforms. The Temperance Movement was a movement during the Antebellum Period that
was against the consumption of alcohol because drunkenness was considered a sin. The Second
Great Awakening influence in the Antebellum Period is clearly shown with the pursuit of
perfectionism that transferred into the Antebellum Period. Without

Marine Insurance
INTRODUCTION
Insurance is a form of risk management in which the insured transfers the cost of potential loss to
another entity in exchange for monetary compensation known as the premium.
Insurance allows individuals, businesses and other entities to protect themselves against
significant potential losses and financial hardship at a reasonably affordable rate. We say
significant because if the potential loss is small, then it doesn t make sense to pay a premium to
protect against the loss. After all, you would not pay a monthly premium to protect against a Rs.
1000 loss because this would not be considered a financial hardship for most.
In one form or another, we all own insurance. Whether its auto, medical, liability, disability or ...

property like house and belongings against fire and theft or vehicles against accidental damage or

motor third party insurance.
General insurance companies have willingly catered to these increasing demands and have offered
a plethora of insurance covers that almost cover anything under the sun.
Any insurance other than Life Insurance falls under the classification of General Insurance. It
comprises of: * Insurance of property against fire, theft, burglary, terrorism, natural disasters etc
* Personal insurance such as Accident Policy, Health Insurance and liability insurance which
covers legal liabilities. * Errors and Omissions Insurance for professionals, credit insurance etc. *
Policy covers such as coverage of machinery against breakdown or loss or damage during the

At this bay they felt as though they were in a Christian country because they saw the Mexican flag

that there is little or no surf here. Here he learned that the Mexican revenue laws are very strict
and required the whole cargo to be landed, examined, and taken on board again. All the officers

Poe s The Raven Essay
Raven
During a cold, dark evening in December, a man is attempting to find some solace from the
remembrance of his lost love, Lenore, by reading volumes of forgotten lore. As he is nearly
overcome by slumber, a knock comes at his door. Having first believed the knock to be only a
result of his dreaming, he finally opens the door apologetically, but is greeted only by darkness.
A thrill of half wonder, half fear overcomes the speaker, and as he peers into the deep darkness, he
can only say the word Lenore. Upon closing the door, another knock is immediately heard from the
chamber s window. The narrator throws open the shutter and window, and in steps a large, beautiful

Again, the word nevermore is the only answer. Shouting maniacally now, demanding that the bird
take its leave, the narrator attempts to dispatch the bird back to the Plutonian shore of Hell from
whence it came. The bird, the emblem of Mournful and Never ending Remembrance, replies again
nevermore, and sits there on the bust of Pallas to this day, ever a torment to the speaker s soul, and
a reminder of his lost love.
Importance of the Work:
The Raven is without a doubt the work for which Poe is best known. Through this poem, Poe has
taken his favorite theme, that of the untimely death of a beautiful woman, and made that theme
universally understandable and fascinating, earning himself literary immortality in the process.
There is no doubt that The Raven takes direct influence from Poe s life experiences. Poe was a
moody bookworm, and Virginia Poe s health had been declining since 1842. Poe s friend, R. H.
Horne, wrote of The Raven, the poet intends to represent a very painful condition of mind, as of
an imagination that was liable to topple over into some delirium or an abyss of melancholy, from
the continuity of one unvaried emotion. Poe s life was varied in experience, but, as Horne s letter
said of Poe s poetry, static in outlook, and his life s entire tone is perfectly encapsulated in The
Raven. Poe,

My Experience With Mental Illness
Growing up, I experienced a wide variety of mental illnesses within my family. In my younger
years, I always wondered why my family had so many issues different from most families (or so I
thought). As I have gotten older, had my own experiences, had friends with mental illnesses and
learned more about the brain in my General Psychologyclass; it actually began to amaze me more
people do not experience mental illness because of how complex the brain is. I attribute my
curiosity in Psychology to my own experiences with mental illness and with the experience of my
family members and friends.

on heroin in her basement. Later on it came out that she had experienced a personality disorder.
To this day, I have no idea which personality disorder she had, but most rumors said it was multi

Kay Redfield Jamison s prologue opens with Jamison not wanting to hide her manic depressive

with more people talking about their mental illness, the stigma against them would have to

a big problem for the students and for the RCMP. For the students it means that it will take
longer for them to get the job that they have studied for and will have to wait a while for them to
pay off the debt. The reason why this is a big problem for the RCMP is because they have to do
a background check on anyone. The Toronto police get around 200 new requests for checks each
day, which cased the backlog of almost 17,00 request. Also if the request is the same gender and
birthday of a wanted criminal the RCMP requires finger prints to determine if the person did not
change their name without the government knowing causing a bigger delay because of the
amount of people in each province. The RCMP have to require finger prints from everyone who
needs vulnerable sector screening but they find that it could cause more a backlog for the system
that keeps all the records. Article 2 Canadian dream tougher to attain for immigrants(Mon,March

Hinduism And The Beliefs Of Christianity And Hinduism
All around the world, there are billions of people who practice whatever religion they support.
Today I am here to talk about a couple of religions which are called Christianity and Hinduism. I
will talk about their origins, there beliefs, and how it has impacted the community around it. My
first religion will be one of the most popular religions that are used today due to its number of
followers is Christianity. This is a monotheistic religion, meaning that its people only believe in
one god. It was developed from Judaism, but has a few differences in its teachings. It was
developed in Judea, which Is now known as Israel in the middle east next to the Mediterranean
sea.. It was founded by Jesus of Nazareth and his disciples who helped him spread his teachings
in the year 30 CE. One of their beliefs is that there is only one god and only one. As you saw
earlier that is called a monotheistic religion. They were taught to call his father due to Jesus
Christ teachings. Jesus is god s son. He was sent down from above to save mankind from death
and sin. In other words he was sent to fulfil god s job, not teach it. Another one of their beliefs is
what happens to them after they die. They believe that they either go to heaven or hell. They
believe that even though they are buried or cremated that their soul can still live on and be
brought up into a new life with god. They believe that this is possible because three days after
Jesus died he arose from the ground and they

Driverless Cars Essay
Driverless cars also known as autonomous vehicles seem futuristic. But it is a vision that is
unfolding before our eyes as the technology is nearly ready. By 2020, the first wave of
autonomous vehicles are expected to enter the market, turning driving tedium over to computers.
We ll look at the history of self driving cars, where they are now and what it will take for us to get
there.
History of Self Driving Cars
Autonomous vehicles are nothing new. At least the testing of these vehicles to get them ready for
public streets has been going on for years. As far back as 1478, Leonardo da Vinci imagined what a
driverless conveyance might look like, although his self propelled vehicle was designed to travel
just 130 feet on a predesigned track.

The Future is Now: Almost
The transition to self driving cars won t happen all at once. After all, there are more than 255
million registered vehicles in the US. It will take decades for the fleet to turn over and there will
always be people who prefer to drive themselves.
Other concerns include cost and consumer adoption. With a record number of recalls in recent
years, only risk taking early adopters may jump in. Autonomous cars will also cost more and must
pass regulatory scrutiny. The insurance companies will also need to be onboard to make driverless
cars a reality in 2020.

The Benefits Of Lake Mead
Lake Mead, the largest man made reservoir, 32 miles from Vegas has been dropping water levels
at an alarming rate. In ten more years with no change in attitude, the city will dry out along with
the lake. Satellite views of the city and the lake show a negative correlation between the lake and
the city. As the city grows, the lake shrinks. Unless somebody can explain to me why we need
grass and pine trees in the desert, I propose we remove all this unnecessary shrubbery and learn to
appreciate what nature naturally grows here. Our city continues to expand outward with beautiful
houses, and equally beautiful yards. However in order to reduce our water use there should be a
new policy to have more native plants. Once we control what we add onto

The Second President Of The United States
The third president of the United States, the writer of the Declaration of Independence, the creator
of the University of Virginia, and the Statue of Virginia for religious freedom are all terms that
have been used to describe one of the most influential and devoted people in American history,
Thomas Jefferson. He published many works that expressed his views of how to strengthen
government in America and put power in the hands of the citizens (Wagoner, 2004, pg.19).
Throughout my learning experience, Jefferson has been one of the three presidents, besides
Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln, who I have gained an interest in because of what he
accomplished during his presidency and his advocacy for a better system of government in the
premature years of the United States. Jefferson is important to American history because he
immediately made a huge impact on American society by envisioning the way he wanted to see
America operate and what he envisioned is reflected through the lives of many Americans today
including myself. For instance, Jefferson and Education is a book that was focused on his
viewpoint of education, while Jefferson and Nature was about nature. During Jefferson s lifetime,
his views on education and nature have influenced the school system and the ways Americans rights
have been established.
Jefferson was born April 13, 1743 and lived until July 4, 1826. Jefferson was the governor of
Virginia during the Revolutionary War. As governor of Virginia, he wrote

Class Conflict and the Significance of Color in A Streetcar Named Desire The award winning
Class conflict has always been a big problem in the United States because the lower and upper

represents class conflict in various ways through characters, symbols, ideas and language.
Williams uses color to emphasize the theme of class struggle, the lower class characters are
described as being bright, and the upper class characters are described as losing their color. Class

Summery and Response of Webster’s Article on Archeology in...
In Webster s article, she talks about the different things that make Beowulf the poem what it is
today. In her article she talks about different things like swords, shields, halls, and cultures. She
takes these subjects and talks about where they originated and why they are in the poem. She takes
the poem and breaks it down into the different subjects, and shows the readerhow they add to the
texture of the poem. Webster ends her article by stating that the poem would not be what it was
today without these subjects, and these subjects were the reason that Beowulfhas so much texture.
The author, in this case Leslie Webster, did a very good job of persuading the readers that these
subjects were the only things that brought texture to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This makes it easier for the reader to understand and comprehend what she is saying. When
Webster talks about a subject, she has so much information that she simply puts that subject into its
own category and just lets it be. This helps to keep the subjects from running together, and this
helps the reader because the they only have to read about one subject at a time instead of having
them all run together. Second, Webster does an amazing job at backing up her information. After
she states a point or introduces a subject, she presents the information about that subject and backs
it up with facts. For example, she introduces the topic of helmets. Once she does this, Webster
starts to talk about how helmets came from the Germanic warrior. She does this throughout her
whole article. This helps the readers to understand where exactly all the information they are
reading about is coming from. This also brings a whole other aspect to Beowulf in that it shows the
readers where everything came from. The poem Beowulf was written so long ago and by an
unknown author; therefore, having all this information helps the reader to understand what is
happening in the poem and really shows the reader where what they are reading about is coming
from. Another example of her providing this information is when she is talking about the mail coats
and how they originated around the tenth century. The last thing that really helps prove Webster is

deployment of troops. Geospatial analysists make sure this gets done. The military uses GIS for
intelligence, production mapping, and military operations. In a land situation, an assembly

Toni Morrison And Virginia Woolf s The Bluest Eye
Essentialists claim that women writers tend to avoid difficult societal issues, such as gender, race,
and political concepts. They critiqued that women prefer to be safe when it comes to the style of
their works, but that could not be farther than the truth. These women, have in fact, made a
tremendous impact on society and sculpted the way we see things in the world today. Toni
Morrison, author of The Bluest Eye, challenged the Essentialists claim by making a novel about
racism, and how it affected African American culture in the 20th century. Margaret Atwood, author
of The Handmaid s Tale, challenged this notion by addressing issues about sexual violence and
political issues, except in the shape of an extremist and dystopian world.... Show more content on

The characters who were apart of the African community are forced to accept themselves as the
outsiders , which has been told to them by the upper class white community. Morrison shows
how these stereotypes tormented the brains of many, sometimes to the point of losing their
minds. The black community was taunted by the white people, and Morrison made the focus of
the novel a young group of little girls who are just realizing the horrors of the world. Not only
does the novel discuss racism and it s effect on the black community, but it discusses the
unrealistic expectations of beauty in our society. Even the title of the novel The Bluest Eye
displays a stereotypical viewpoint of beauty. For example in the story Pecola Breedlove yearns
to have blue eyes. She hopes that one day she will be able to transform, and therefore be loved
by others because of her new blue eyes. Eventually, Pecola goes crazy, thinking that she has the
bluest eyes. Toni Morrison discussing an issue such as racism and unrealistic beauty standards is
surely not what I call a safe call, but instead, a bold and intimidating one. Personally, this felt like a
way of describing what happens to a person who wants to change themselves physically and
becomes distorted in the process...because it is, in fact, unrealistic to drastically change one s
appearance. Margaret

The world consists of many opposing views on how the world should function and how to best
interact with it. The first points describes different environmental worldviews and the second point
describes the importance of resource conservation.
1.1 Environmental Worldviews and Values
Environmental worldviews are how people think the world works, where they fit, and how they
think ethically and morally. These views can be human centred, earthcentered or a combination of
the two(Tucker and Grim, 1994).
Human Centered and Life Centered Environmental Worldviews
Human centered views consider humans to be the most important species and stewards(a person in
charge of looking after something) of the earth.
Planetary management worldview
Humans are thought to be the dominant species. They believe that humans should manage the
earth, all other life forms have some sort of instrumental value for human use.
Problems are solved with more economic growth and development, and better management and
technology and that the planet should have a free market global economy(Tucker and Grim, 1994).

The Bitch Manifesto By Joreen Freeman
Feminist Movements started long before 1960, with the advancement of women earning the
right to vote. However, it did not stop with that change. There were many other items that the
women in history hoped to change, not only to better their own lives, but also the women of the
future. With the use of many documents, such as flyers, letters, and boycotts, women of the past
changed many different aspects of life for women in the world today. Boycotting the Miss
America Pageant in 1968 and 1969, circulating flyers around America, was just the beginning of
this second movement. They also used to write to convey their thoughts. One of which was
titled The Bitch Manifesto and was written in 1968 by Joreen Freeman. The second was a spin
off from a children s book entitled There was a Young Women Who Swallowed a lie which was
written in 1970 by Meredith Tax. Slavery Exists! Reported by a flyer that circulated around
America in 1968. At this time, slavery as we remember was over, so to many at the time, what the
women were proclaiming may have been confusing to some. This circulated around before the Miss
America pageant. The Washington Women s Liberation were portraying the pageant to slavery
because Miss America was a slave to cultural norms of the time, the image of sex, virginal
prettiness, glory of war, mindless conformity, acceptance of racism, cult of youth, the competitive
spirit, and the capitalistic system. With this flyer, they were hoping to gather others who

Advantage Of Using Computer Essay
Advantages of Using Computers
Computers obviously wouldn t be as popular as they are now if they did not offer advantages
over doing tasks manually. Some of these advantages are: Computers can perform calculations
much more quickly and accurately than humans. For example, modern computers can perform
hundreds of millions of calculations per second. Large amounts of data can be stored in a small
amount of space. For example, hundreds of pages worth of text can be stored on a 31вЃ„2inch

Computers have revolutionized businesses, relieving workers from the burden of calculating and
record keeping with pen and paper. While there are a few holdouts and computers in certain
businesses collect dust, the majority of businesses throughout the world use a computer in some
capacity.
Organization
The organizational skills of companies have improved substantially since the 1970s and 1980s due
to the use of computers. Years ago, most contact information between clients, including phone
numbers and addresses for mailing lists, were kept in files or a Rolodex, which made searching for
information time consuming.
Today, customer information is easily accessible and updatable and this is far from the only
organizational area that s been transformed by computers. Product information, inventory, and
descriptions for sales companies are uploaded to computers and placed into databases or on the
internet for easy access by customers. Business accounts and invoices are also kept on computers
so that a customer service representative is only a few clicks away from aiding clients.

viability of most businesses is linked to the ability to produce products quickly and effectively.
Computers aid in this process in a number of ways: * They allow for companies to make models of

In retrospect, it was clear that cutting these vital positions simply because they were vacant was
a poor strategy for reducing costs. It also should be noted that Mecklenburg County is a highly
political environment, with the political majority of the board of county commissioners open to
change in virtually every two year election. Changes in the elected majority are often
accompanied by swings in political priorities, resulting in changes in funding for services.
However, prior to 2001, there was no consistent model used for making decisions based on
priorities. This resulted in a very unstable and non sustainable approach to achieving desired
results. Essentially, the community and County staff seemed to be experienced alternating
between two diametrically opposed views. On one hand was the view that county government
could be all things to all people; the other philosophy was that there is never a good reason to

about 12 jurors that in an uncomfortable room have to discuss a life and death case about a boy

Juror 9. Juror 8 is important because he is smart, brave, and fair. Juror 3 was important because he

Digital Piracy And Its Impact On Society Essay
When Game of Thrones premiers to a HBO audience of 10.3 million viewers through legitimate
channels, an additional 4.3 million viewers is estimated to watch the premier illegitimately. These
digital pirates cause quite a controversy for the show`s industry, legitimate viewers, and the show
runners themselves, even. Mixed thoughts, reactions, and even discrepancies in quantitative
numbers shroud the perception and comprehension of modern digital piracy. Examining the
culture of piracy, how and why people pirate content, as well as the legal and industrial
components of piracy can provide a contextualized understanding of piracy in the digital age, and
the future of piracy. Understanding technological and ethical factors that lead to piracy, and legal
and industrial repercussions to digital piracy are essential to navigating a discussion about
whether or not piracy has a great impact on industry or society as a whole. Defining digital piracy
is the first and foremost step towards understanding its role in today s world. For our purposes,
looking to Miriam Webster s definition of piracy as the act of illegally copying someone s product
or invention without permission, is an excellent starting point. Theft, by comparison, Miriam
Webster defines as felonious taking and removing of personal property with the intent to deprive
the rightful owner of it. To contrast theft and piracy, digital piracy does not deprive the rightful

This paper was prepared for PPOL V371, Section 01, Spring 2016, taught by Professor Aitalieva.
Abstract
The main purpose of this research is to give further knowledge about the Temporary Assistance for
Needy Families Program offered in the United States (TANF). With looking at the history of the
program, it allows the reader to get an improved understanding of why the need for the program
was developed, and have an understanding at which direction the program is going to be going.
The research will share the environments of the current policy, effectiveness and efficiency, and
offer some possible policy alternatives that will either benefit the program or make it more difficult
to allocate the proper funding in order to continue to help low income families in need.
Policy Description
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program (TANF) was created to help and provide
cash assistance and supportive services to help assist families that have children under the age of
18, including pregnant women. The assistance that is given to the individual or families allows
the financial assistance to help pay for utilities, food, and shelter. Temporary Assistance for Needy
Families Program (TANF) is administered by OFA, which is Office of Family Assistance. TANF

Arrow Of God And Smoke Signals
Arrow of God and Smoke Signals have similar patterns of fiction, archetypes and philosophies. If
you notice Campells typical hero sequence of actions can be detected in both Arrow of God and
Smoke Signals. There is a certain typical hero sequence of actions which can be detected in stories
from all over the world from many periods of history. Essentially, it might even be said there is but
one archetypal mythic herowhose life has been replicated in many lands by many people.
(Archetypes pg 6) This sequence is made apparent in Arrow of God. The birth of Ezeulu is unusual
because he is born into priesthood. This priesthood later requires him to travel to Okperi. While in
Okperi, Ezeulu confronts his ego simultaneously while conflicting with the imposing British
Government. Ezeulu then returns to Umuaro having been reborn psychologically.
Campells typical hero sequence holds truth in Smoke Signals as well. Victor s unusual birth in
Smoke Signals is symbolic; he is saved from a tragic house fire as a young baby. This house fire is
the same event that drives his father away from the Coeur d Alene Indian Reservation. Inevitably
this later requires Victor to leave home and confront his ego while retrieving his father s remains.
In both Arrow of God and Smoke Signals the events after the heroes birth are considerably unusual.
This unusual birth is later the motive for the hero to leave home which ultimately results in the
heroes confronting their egos. The heroes then return

Carlos Williams Influences
Kasper
William Carlos Williams poetry was greatly influenced by his family s beliefs and his
experiences as a child and young adult. Williams writing reflects the chaos of his early adulthood
when he pursued two different professions at once. His parents wanted him to be a doctor, and he
practiced medicine for a period of time, but his true calling was writing. Williams owned his own
medical practice, and at the same time, he was a published poet. This lack of direction and
pressure in Williams life is displayed in his poem Overture to a Dance of Locomotives .
Additionally, Williams own experiences with women are reflected in his admiration for women in
his poetry. Williams has a love for women, but he is reserved about it and keeps intimate ... Show

Williams conveys his ideas as a poet by using metaphors and similes, as well as imagery. These
components help build William s poetry and make it compelling to read. When growing up, a
lot was asked of Williams. His parents wanted him to be a doctor, but he wanted to be a poet.
The chaos in his life is translated into his poetry and visible in the way he writes. The message
Williams is trying to convey in many of his poems is that life becomes more chaotic as a person
grows up, and someone cannot be innocent his or her entire life. Williams was also raised by a
loving, interesting and intellectual woman, and was happily married himself. Therefore, Williams
poems reflect both respect and love for women. William Carlos Williamsfamily and his own strong
desire to be true to himself influenced his poetry and reflect both his understanding that life can be
chaotic and women are beautiful and

Teachers Students And The Learning Environment
Teachers conducting action research in there class Action research is a means through which an
educator stays informed of the on going trends in education with specific interest in individual
content areas or classroom management techniques. Teachers need to understand these trends to
better serve the students. By participating in these research activities, teachers embrace change in
pedagogical strategies and learn how to best understand their students and the learning environment.
These in turn opens avenues for differentiated instruction. Differentiated instruction is a teaching
strategy that varies teaching techniques depending on individual student needs to meet the student
at their points of need. Meeting students at their points of need and teaching them required content
based using the most appropriate method should be the sole purpose for every educator. Therefore,
teachers should conduct action research in their own classrooms to be better educators. Action
research in classrooms can also yield new teaching and testing strategies. Action research project
Problem statement, An action research statement that I have considered in the past is; effective

Gender Expectations In Ancient Mythology
In our current world, gender expectations apparent in our society be traced back to ancient
mythology. Women of today find inspiration in beauty and fashion often unknowingly form ancient
cultures. Similarly, popular masculine attributes are relatable to the myths of heroes and important
gods. Basing current social standards upon mythological texts however creates problems. In
striving to achieve such physical greatness people of this era are attempting to reach the
impossible: to become a god or goddess of immortal standards themselves. By relating ancient myths
to that of the current media, one can view the effect that the ancient world has upon the social
standards apparent in our society today. Divinity in ancient mythology was not always... Show more

If they, or at the minimum their leader does not fit into the standard and accepted body
standards, then they are overlooked. Hephaestus, the Greek god of smithing fits into this
category with his lame leg. Other than his leg, Hephaestus is often described and pictured as a
fit and athletic looking male. As Homer writes in the Iliad, Hephaestus had a massive neck and
hairy chest and his shrunken legs moved lightly beneath him ( Hephaestus ). This description
makes Hephaestus appear as a strong man whose disability is apparent but does not fully take
away his immortality. Similarly, characters in superhero stories with the unusual attribute of being
overweight are frowned upon by society. Superheroine Big Bertha, otherwise known as the
Ample Amazon uses her overweight characteristic to fight evil; her large size makes her
bulletproof and gives her immense strength ( Overweight Superheroes and Supervillains. ).
However, Bertha s large size is only apparent during her heroic adventures in the comic world.
During her regular life, she is a slim figured supermodel who is famous throughout the globe for
her gorgeous figure and looks. Characters similar to Bertha would find it difficult to gain
popularity in the world today due to the prevalent body

History Of Eugenics
Since the mid 1800s, standardized tests have played a part in America s education system. In 1969,
the Federal Department of Education began focusing on the educational achievement of students.
In 1994, the Clinton administration revised the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, created
during the War on Poverty, to reduce achievement gaps in kindergarten through twelfth grade public
education. The Clinton administration made every state that received money from the federal
government for high poverty schools begin testing their students annually. In 2002, President
George W. Bush created another reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act
the No Child Left Behind Act; which focused on giving all children the opportunity... Show more

  • 2. The Science Of Human Physical Activity In Chapter one of our text, Introduction to Kinesiology the Science of Human Physical Activity by Stephan Wallace. We are introduced to three major types of movement, Sportive movement, symbolic movement, and supportive movement. At the basis of all three movements they are very similar although they highlight different attributes of an athlete or a person living an everyday lifestyle. Sportive movement is identified as a skill related physical activity, meaning any competitive activity that has a clear winner or loser. Sportive movement also has the implication that one person can be superior to another in that sport because, their skill level is significantly higher than other teammates. An example would be a varsity football athlete and a college football athlete. What can make the college player superior than a varsity player is that his muscle mass has a higher density, making the hits have a greater force than that of a varsity player. Another possibility that could make the college athlete s performance be superior is the skill level at which they train at. Symbolic movement refers to physical activity that expresses thoughts and feelings through the body; the main emphasis being physical expressiveness (Wallace 2013). • 5. Dulce Et Decorum Est Tone Analysis In his poem, Dulce Et Decorum Est poet Wilfred Owen utilizes horrific imagery, angry and disgusted tones, and a contrasting title to engage readers. Throughout the poem, Owen makes clear two major tones. Anger and Disgust. To establish this point, the poet says Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge (lines 2 3). This reveals how the poet was angry about being in the war because he wasn t experiencing the romanticism of war he was experiencing suffering of fighting. An additional example is when Owen adds But limped on, blood shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots (lines 6 8). These lines imply Owen s disgusted tone towards the war because the soldiers were worked to death. However the title has a completely different tone. The translated title states It is sweet and fitting to die for one s country. This is a huge contrast to the rest of the poem because all the poet describes is the horror of being in the war, when the title puts a glorified image in your mind that serving is heroic and honorable. This is why Freedom Writers directed by Richard Lagravenese, Divergent by Neil Burger, Glory Road directed by James Gartner, and The Pursuit of Happiness by Gabriele Muccino, all set in different times were attempting to express the message that, overcoming obstacles takes effort, resilience, and determination. It includes many techniques for modeling and analyzing several variables, when the focus is on the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. The Importance Of Replicants In The Movie Blade Runner In the movie Blade Runner, humans create androids that resemble humans physically and have human emotion, implanted memories and the purpose to work as slaves. Throughout the course of the movie these androids, which are later referred as replicants, start to realize their desire to live longer as humans do and to try to prevent their death. Humans are threatened by this desire the replicants build and start killing them off to prevent any destruction replicants might cause. A belief that these replicants should not be granted humanrights comes into play and sets the audience to question whether replicants can be perceived as human or not. Replicants are seen as non human throughout the movie Blade Runner, yet still live lives filled with emotion as humans do. Therefore, rather than calling replicants non human, they should be called persons and should be granted human rights because they reflect real human emotion and had no part in their own creation. This constitutes their innocence making them undeserving of punishment. Humans in the film create replicants to reflect what a human would act, think and look like. I was born in a time, when women typically were not encouraged to obtain an education. My family, however, went against the grain, and actively supported my sisters and I in our education. Even today, as I write this, my society celebrates women for our virtue and beauty, (Niyazi, 2011) with our sole purpose being solely the ambition to marry and bear children (Niyazi, 2011). Even the background behind me has nothing that would detract from this; the background is a rich green color that only makes my figure stand out to the viewer. I can only hope that the women that have looked at this portrait of me are inspired to pursue their goals and dreams, no matter how foolish they may seem to be by society. This is a monotheistic religion, meaning that its people only believe in one god. It was developed from Judaism, but has a few differences in its teachings. It was developed in Judea, which Is now known as Israel in the middle east next to the Mediterranean sea.. It was founded by Jesus of Nazareth and his disciples who helped him spread his teachings in the year 30 CE. One of their beliefs is that there is only one god and only one. As you saw earlier that is called a monotheistic religion. They were taught to call his father due to Jesus Christ teachings. Jesus is god s son. He was sent down from above to save mankind from death and sin. In other words he was sent to fulfil god s job, not teach it. Another one of their beliefs is what happens to them after they die. They believe that they either go to heaven or hell. They believe that even though they are buried or cremated that their soul can still live on and be brought up into a new life with god. They believe that this is possible because three days after Jesus died he arose from the ground and they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Second President Of The United States The third president of the United States, the writer of the Declaration of Independence, the creator of the University of Virginia, and the Statue of Virginia for religious freedom are all terms that have been used to describe one of the most influential and devoted people in American history, Thomas Jefferson. He published many works that expressed his views of how to strengthen government in America and put power in the hands of the citizens (Wagoner, 2004, pg.19). Throughout my learning experience, Jefferson has been one of the three presidents, besides Andrew Jackson and Abraham Lincoln, who I have gained an interest in because of what he accomplished during his presidency and his advocacy for a better system of government in the premature years of the United States. Jefferson is important to American history because he immediately made a huge impact on American society by envisioning the way he wanted to see America operate and what he envisioned is reflected through the lives of many Americans today including myself. For instance, Jefferson and Education is a book that was focused on his viewpoint of education, while Jefferson and Nature was about nature. During Jefferson s lifetime, his views on education and nature have influenced the school system and the ways Americans rights have been established. Jefferson was born April 13, 1743 and lived until July 4, 1826. Jefferson was the governor of Virginia during the Revolutionary War. As governor of Virginia, he wrote ... In her article she talks about different things like swords, shields, halls, and cultures. She takes these subjects and talks about where they originated and why they are in the poem. She takes the poem and breaks it down into the different subjects, and shows the readerhow they add to the texture of the poem. Webster ends her article by stating that the poem would not be what it was today without these subjects, and these subjects were the reason that Beowulfhas so much texture. This makes it easier for the reader to understand and comprehend what she is saying. When Webster talks about a subject, she has so much information that she simply puts that subject into its own category and just lets it be. This helps to keep the subjects from running together, and this helps the reader because the they only have to read about one subject at a time instead of having them all run together. Second, Webster does an amazing job at backing up her information. After she states a point or introduces a subject, she presents the information about that subject and backs it up with facts. For example, she introduces the topic of helmets. Once she does this, Webster starts to talk about how helmets came from the Germanic warrior. She does this throughout her whole article. This helps the readers to understand where exactly all the information they are reading about is coming from. This also brings a whole other aspect to Beowulf in that it shows the readers where everything came from. The poem Beowulf was written so long ago and by an unknown author; therefore, having all this information helps the reader to understand what is happening in the poem and really shows the reader where what they are reading about is coming from. Another example of her providing this information is when she is talking about the mail coats and how they originated around the tenth century. The last thing that really helps prove Webster is ... • 33. Toni Morrison And Virginia Woolf s The Bluest Eye Essentialists claim that women writers tend to avoid difficult societal issues, such as gender, race, and political concepts. They critiqued that women prefer to be safe when it comes to the style of their works, but that could not be farther than the truth. These women, have in fact, made a tremendous impact on society and sculpted the way we see things in the world today. Toni Morrison, author of The Bluest Eye, challenged the Essentialists claim by making a novel about racism, and how it affected African American culture in the 20th century. Margaret Atwood, author of The Handmaid s Tale, challenged this notion by addressing issues about sexual violence and political issues, except in the shape of an extremist and dystopian world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The characters who were apart of the African community are forced to accept themselves as the outsiders , which has been told to them by the upper class white community. Morrison shows how these stereotypes tormented the brains of many, sometimes to the point of losing their minds. The black community was taunted by the white people, and Morrison made the focus of the novel a young group of little girls who are just realizing the horrors of the world. Not only does the novel discuss racism and it s effect on the black community, but it discusses the unrealistic expectations of beauty in our society. Even the title of the novel The Bluest Eye displays a stereotypical viewpoint of beauty. For example in the story Pecola Breedlove yearns to have blue eyes. She hopes that one day she will be able to transform, and therefore be loved by others because of her new blue eyes. Eventually, Pecola goes crazy, thinking that she has the bluest eyes. Toni Morrison discussing an issue such as racism and unrealistic beauty standards is surely not what I call a safe call, but instead, a bold and intimidating one.
