Entrepreneurial Self Efficacy
Business opportunities are like buses, there s always another one coming. Richard Branson, founder
of Virgin Enterprises
With a plethora of new ideas, innovations, skills and opportunities, entrepreneurship has become a
new trend in employment across the world. It is a good way to alleviate the pressure on
employment. Entrepreneurship can improve economic efficiency, bring market innovation, increase
employment opportunities and maintain employment levels (Shane, amp; Venkataraman,2000).
Keeping this in mind, in the recent years, universities now focus their attention to promote
entrepreneurship through education so as to instill motivation, confidence, interest and ... Show

(Source: Entrepreneurial self efficacy and business start up: developing a multi dimensional
definition by DrnovЕЎek M. et al).
Theories in the past suggest that education targeted towards entrepreneurship can plays an
important role in developing levels of self efficacy. A bulk of researches has been done on how
education has affected the entrepreneurial self efficacy among the students. Bandura has said that
self confidence in our abilities to successfully perform specific tasks comes from four key sources:
mastery experiences, modeling, social persuasion, and judgments of our own physiological states.
Thus by providing education that is focused towards developing skills and interest for
entrepreneurship, can develop self efficacy in individuals. However, this is not always true.
Sometimes entrepreneurship education can also have a negative impact. Particular combination of
personal, perceptional and situational factors can lead to entrepreneurship education actually
decreasing the level of entrepreneurial intentions. Researchers like Fayolle et al (2006) and
Brockner et al (2004) have suggested that education programs can have a counter effect too.
Nevertheless, my personal belief is that entrepreneurship education has a positive impact on
entrepreneurial self efficacy.
Earlier reviews on the entrepreneurship education reveal that entrepreneurship education should
take the action learning or experience oriented learning approach in order to increase the

What Is The Theme Of Her First Ball
Katherine Mansfield s short story Her First Ball introduces us to Leila, a country girl on her way
to her first ball with her cousins, the Sheridan sisters. A range of language features convey Leila s
attitude of naive and excitement as the ball begins, and her transition to a young woman who is
more socially experienced and mature by the end of the story. The story conveys the message that
loss of innocence is an inevitable and vital part of the transition from adolescence to adulthood.
At the beginning of the story, Leila s attitude towards the ball is one of exuberance as she has ever
experienced anything like it before. Mansfield uses language features such as similes,
personification and metaphors to emphasize Leila s breathless excitement ... Show more content on

The text starts off with a giddy tone that accentuates Leila s excitement for the ball Exactly when
the ball began Leila would have found it hard to say. this gives a sense that Leila has lost track
of reality, from being whisked away by the glamour and grandiose of the ball when she first
enters the hall. Around the middle of the text the tone transitions from giddy and cheerful to a
more depressing tone when Leila encounters the fat man. This is shown by the quote It hardly
bears thinking about, does it? said the fat man gloomily. Leila looked at his bald head, and she
felt quite sorry for him. Which shows us the change in tone when Leila meets the fat man. Leila
s time with the fat men is characterised by her being pulled away from the fantasy of the ball and
back to reality as she gets shocked by the fat man s realist/pessimist view. After Leila s encounter
with the fat man ends the tone of the text changes back to cheerful and exuberant with the quote
The lights, the azaleas, the dresses, the pink faces, the velvet chairs, all became one beautiful
flying wheel. this shows us that immediately after the fat man leaves the ball goes back to normal
and Leila forgets him and carries on with her youthful fantasy version of the ball. The changes in
the tone of the text shows how adolescents live in the moment and tend to easily pass things

Gender Inequality And The Aristotelian Society
Gender Inequality in an Aristotelian Polity Aristotle s philosophies were deeply influenced by his
upbringing and interest in biology. He believed that the reason of a thing lies in its function.
Everything that exists has a purpose, and that purpose is the reason that thing is the way it is. For
example, all the substances that make up a seed are there because the way those particular
substances interact with each other causes that seed to grow. When the seed grows, it reaches its
full potential as a plant. Humans are the same. Humanbeings have a potential to live up to, which
is finding true happiness by living an honorable life. One lives an honorable life by complying
with societal standards, which are built through community based on three levels of
organization. The first of these is the household, which is designed to manage the necessities of
individual existence, such as procreation, sleep, nourishment, and shelter (pg. 35). The second is
the village, which in simple terms is the market place of society, where people buy and sell
goods and services. The last of the levels is the polis, the political community in charge of making
collective decisions in the public s best interest. Each of these levels performs an essential,
inescapable function in any society (pg. 35) Species survival is crucial to any society, and is
covered under the household level of government. But because species survival is so important,
those who are capable of bearing children will be

1. Introduction
Nuclear conversion of an atomic nucleus from one form to another is known as radioactivity.
These conversions are accompanied by nuclear radiations, major nuclear radiations are alpha, beta
and gamma radiations these are ionisations radiations and hence are dangerous to living beings
these radiations can cause radiation sickness and sometimes can even lead to death. However these
nuclear radiations can be detected and measured and considerable research is also being done on
eradicating these nuclear radiations. [1] Molecules and ions ... Show more content on

There are primarily three different types of nuclear radiations О±, ОІ and Оі radiation.Figure 2

Fig: 2 Penetrating capabilities of О±, ОІ and Оі particles.
Alpha radiations consist of two protons and two neutrons, these mainly occur at the time of alpha
decay , Since alpha radiation travel a very short distance hence they can be easily stopped by paper
or normal clothes, Alpha radiations are harmful when in contact directly with the skin or the source
being swallowed.
Beta radiations are high speed and high energy electrons and positrons which occur are produced
at the time beta decay, beta radiation may travel meters in air and is moderately penetrating, these
radiations can penetrate up to germinal layer of the skin where new skin cells are produced and
hence can harm the skin quite effectively.
Gamma rays are high frequency electromagnetic radiations and contain high energy per photon;
these are produced by the decay of higher energy atomic nuclei. These rays can travel many meters
in the air and can penetrate the skin up to centimetres. Dense materials are needed to shield from
gamma radiation.

In the process of decontamination radiation detection is the most important process, A

The Meaning Of The Word Nigger
The word nigger has been around since the beginning of our nation. It has made an appearance in
numerous songs, speeches, and even literary classics such as The Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn. Over the years, the word and its meaning have changed drastically to mean positive things
in the black community, however the original insult is still present in some contexts. Many
believe we should prohibit the use of the word as best we can in order to put an end to the
negative uses. However, I believe that we should instead be working towards changing the meaning
of the word forever instead of condemning it. Although many argue the n word should be censored
at all times, I believe it should not be censored because it is vital in understanding out nation s past,
the meaning of the word has adapted throughout time to be positive, and condemning it would only
allow the word to sustain its negative meaning. The word niggeris crucial to understanding our
history. Some argue that the word is always attributed with the nation s past blunders such as
discrimination and slavery and for that reason it should be banned. For example, the article ____
states that the word has long conjured images of lynchings, oppression, bigotry, and discrimination
(OBAMA). Although this is true, these images are necessary in describing our country s
background. Without the use of this word to do so, it would be impossible to understand the extent
of prejudice that this country had present

Similarities Between The English Reformation And The Puritans
The English Reformation and the Puritans:

The Vitality of England and its culture grew stronger throughout the sixteen century and on into
the seventeenth. It was a time of literary splendor, climaxed by the incomparable works of
William Shakespeare. This was a time to comparable to exam plified by the sea captains Sir
Francis Drake and John Hawkins, who defected the Spanish Armada in 1588. It was a time of
population growth and economic activity with new wealth flowing to several levels of society. And
it was a time of religious tumutt and renewal. Henry VIII initiated the reformation of English

It was the English who played the major part in setting British North America were Protestants of a
distinct type. When the youthful Edward VI succeeded Henry VII in 1547, his Protestant advisors
greatly accelerated the pace of religious change in England. They enhanced the authority of such
leaders as the Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer, whose liturgical theology was a subtle
blend of Lutheran and reformed emphases seasoned by the wisdom of the early church. And they
encouraged the removal of Roman Catholic practices and customs that had survived under Henry
VIII. In this reforming context the most advanced group of Protestants seized the opportunity to
push reform in England to what they thought was its logical conclusion. King Edwards died in
1553 and was successful by his half sister Mary Tudor. Under her rule, Protestants, common
people as well as leaders such as Cranmer, went to the flames for their conviction. Others laid low
in England or escape. When Mary Tudor died in 1558, the refugees were to be return home. And
the greater purity in the church led to rise of puritanism in

A hazard is a situation that poses a level of threat to life, health, property, or environment. There
is a very big difference that helps prepare for a volcanic hazard and that is whether you are in a
MEDC or a LEDC. In a MEDC monitoring volcanic zones and potential hazards is an option many
LEDC s don t have. In Italy at Mt Etna they have Geochemical monitoring programs currently run
by INGV which focus on the analysis of temporal changes, chemical changes and seismic activity.
This option open to the Italians is not an option for LEDC who don t have the wealth or public
education to set up these stations. In Montserrat their where no levels of monitoring at all due to

There are other factors predicting and preparing wont help for. One is the type of volcanic hazard
such as a sudden pyroclastic flow is much more violent then a slow lava flow. With pyroclastics
you can only reduce the hazard by vacation but lava flows can be diverted and slowed down with
dam wall trenches and spraying water As they did in ice land on the 1973 Heimaey eruption which
started on 23 January.
Some times warning isn t enough because of peoples different circumstances and beliefs they
might not leave. One example is in Columbia in 1985 where they where warned but didn t listen
as they didn t think they would be affected and didn t trust the people telling them. About 20,000
people are feared dead after a volcanic eruption in northern Colombia. Four towns in the Andes
region are reported to have been buried when ash spewed out of the volcano, Nevado del Ruiz,
causing a mudslide. These people weren t told to evacuate until 2 hours before the major eruption
casing massive loss of life. The reason for this late call was because the country didn t trust the
people observing the volcano this meant the potential hazard was far greater then it should have
been ad the results where horrific. This is one example of how poor education and different
situation can greatly increase the hazard.
The Nevado del Ruiz Volcano eruption is also a great example of how the physical environment
affects the hazard. In Armero two

Speech About Naps
As a child, it is common for one to fight not to take a nap. Children do not like being told to nap.
At some point, however, often in one s teen or young adult years, one generally grows to
appreciate an afternoon nap, and even to view it as a luxury. Yet, it may still remain stigmatized
in some people s minds that napping is just for young children. In addition, in a typical adult s
daily life, he does not have time to stop his day and lie down to nap for two hours. He is too busy
at work, or taking care of other responsibilities he has. In more recent years, however, researchers
have begun to observe incredible benefits to midday naps, such as improved performance, mood,
and memory. These observations have lead researchers to ask a few questions on how a person
should run his day. What are the advantages of a midday nap? What are its disadvantages? For
how long should a person ideally nap in order to avoid negative effects? What are the ideal
conditions for napping? An afternoon nap... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

way to overcome the hump. Naps were proven to be most effective, in comparison to sleeping

after approximately sixteen hours of wakefulness, tiredness tends to set in. If one is awake for

Beach Erosion in Southern California
Beach erosion is a serious issue today especially with human civilization building cities near the
coast and disrupting the natural distribution of sediment deposition for our own convenience.
Especially in southern California, beach erosion has some serious social, economic and
environmental impacts on our society as a whole. Along with the rise of our sea levels due to
global warming melting our polar ice caps, this erosionis having profound effects on coastal
societies and has damaging effects on infrastructure worldwide. With human ingenuity, we have
come up with various methods such as hard and soft engineering in order to both prevent and
mitigate the effects of beach erosion.
Introduction
There are 2 types of beaches. One is erosion dominant and the other is deposition dominant. The
erosion dominant one has more erosion than deposition so the beaches shrink.
In the other case, if there is more deposition than erosion, then the beaches grow due to more sand
being deposited upon it. The only reason why beaches shrink is due to erosion and this can
happen for a variety of reasons. One reason being that if a shore tends to receive more destructive
waves than constructive waves, then the beach will erode over time. This is because destructive
waves erode and constructive waves deposit sediment. A very relevant example is that the beaches
in southern California are naturally shrinking right now because they aren t receiving enough
sediment from the San

working if the new system fail. Throghout this stage the replacement can work smoothly. From the
case study I also realise that the staff of Comair does not play their own role. This is because they
did not check with their competitor as other competitor already using the new system. For me, I
will always check with the competitor current information system. Checking does not mean to be a

Was there anything Delta executives could have done during the merger to have avoided this
type of exposure from their new acquisition? Yes, there was things that should be done by Delta
executives during the merger to avoid this tyoe of exposure from their new acquisition. The
exposure could been avoided if Delta had done a comprehensive analysis of the risk that this new
system posed to the airline s daily operation and taken the step to test the work or mitigate the risk.

Gun Control Argumentative Essay
Gun control has been a topic of conversation for a long time. With that comes the issue of gun
violence that has taken over America, from concerts and movie theaters to schools and churches,
mass shooting have taken many lives. Data has shown that 19 children are hospitalized every day
from a gun related injury and 1,300 children are killed each year from guninjuries. And there are
many people who are opposite sides of the firearmissue. Some people believe that it is their
constitutional right to be able to own as many guns as they want while the opposite side of the
spectrum believes that the second amendment should be erased from the constitution and make
guns illegal. However, many people on both sides agree that kids need to be taught gun safety....

Many article about guns or gun related issues tend to start the article by describing something
that has happened because of a gun to evoke a sense of sorrow. The .45 caliber pistol that killed
Lucas Heagren, 3, on Memorial Day last year at his Ohio home had been temporarily hidden
under the couch by his father. But Lucas found it and shot himself through the right eye. (Lou,
McIntire) This comes from an article in The New York Times titled Children and Guns: The
Hidden Toll. This example is followed by many more gut wrenching child gun deaths. Yet, the
case of Lucas Heagren is a bit more in depth, an image of him and his father on Christmas with
Lucas holding his present, a .22 rifle. This image was evidence for Mr. Heagran s negligent
homicide trial after Lucas shot himself. The anecdotes bring empathy so that the reader may side
with the view of the article. The New York Times also give a clear understanding of who the
audience is by stating that gun deaths happen everywhere, in the households of police officers and
drug dealers, in broken homes and close knit families, on rural farms and city

Analysis Of Qantas Collaborative Strategy
TOPIC 1:
QANTAS COLLABORATIVE STRATEGY
In today s highly competitive business environment, companies must continually seek out
initiatives that will bring about competitive advantage, which occurs when a firm implements a
strategy that is costly or impossible for their competitors to duplicate (HANSON HITT
IRELAND HOSKISSON TB). An approach that has been rising in popularity for resource based
firms in the past two decades (KALE SINGH) is cooperative strategy, whereby two or more firms
work together to achieve the aforementioned competitive advantage.
Capabilities of a firm are created through tangible and intangible resources and allow them to
perform everyday tasks. These capabilities become core competencies when they develop into a ...

This allows them to capitalise on the core competencies of other firms, resulting in competitive
advantage if successful. The major benefits of strategic alliances rather than acting independently
include a new source of revenue, a vehicle for firm growth, faster responses to market opportunities,
technological changes and global conditions, and grants experiences to draw new knowledge from.
In the aviation industry, strategic alliances come in the form of bilateral or multilateral agreements
where allied airlines share similar business objectives and coordinate their services to achieve their
common goals. According to Doganis (2006), they involve use of a common brand, a uniform
service standard, and the asset co mingling of aircraft, staff, traffic rights, terminal facilities or
capital resources to identify the airlines that are in a strategic alliance. Global airline alliances also
exist in the aviation industry. Alliance, OneWorld
, and SkyTeam were launched between 1997 and
2001, and each contain a dozen or more members. Figure 1 displays the differing levels of
coordination between partners in the various partnership types.
An example in aviation industry that has successfully employed a strategic alliance is Qantas
Airlines, who entered into a non equity strategic alliance with the large Middle Eastern airline
Emirates. Strategic alliances are evident

Similarities And Differences Between Beowulf And Iliad
Beowulf and Iliad are some of the most famous stories in literature. In both stories we can see
how the characteristics of heroic is presented in many sorts of different ways. Although they
bear some superficial similarities, the differences between Beowulf and Iliad are clear. They
both involved heroic events, but the settings and the way both stories are being told involved
many dissimilarities. The both heroes in the stories are also interacted with supernatural beings
and many different sorts of events. In Beowulf we see characteristics such as bravery, loyalty,
honor, superhuman physical strength, and the willingness to risk his life for the greater good.
Beowulf shows bravery when he hears about how Grendel is attacking the Hrothgar and the hall.
Grendel was attacking the men at night and Beowulf wanted to go help. In his far off home
Beowulf, Higlac s follower and the strongest of the Geats greater and stronger than anyone
anywhere in this world heard how Grendel filled nights with horror and quickly commanded a
boat fitted out, proclaiming that he d go to that famous king, would sail across the sea to
Hrothgar, now when help was needed. (Beowulf 111 116) In this section we see how Beowulf was
not afraid to go up against Grendel . He shows his willing to risk his life for the greater good when
he is not afraid to go up against the dragon in his last battle. I ve never known fear, as a youth I
fought in endless battles. I am old, now, but I will fight again,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Inventory Management Systems
3.2 Inventory Management Systems
Inventory management system is a system that combines the use of desktop software, barcode
scanners, barcode printers, and mobile devices to streamline the management of inventory. This
system involves procurement, storage, identification, retrieval, transport and construction methods.
Each is indelibly linked to safety, productivity and schedule performance. There are some inventory
management problems that can occur in the companies.
3.2.1 Too much distressed stock in inventory
Distressed stock is materials or products in inventory that has or will soon pass the point where it

The job order costing system determines the cost of a product or service based upon three
components of price. They include direct materials, direct labour and manufacturing overhead such
as the electricity used to run machines on a production line. There are some weaknesses of using
job costing system in the calculation of the cost in the companies.
3.3.1 Combination of Actual and Estimated Cost
One of the main problems of using job order costing is the incompatible between when the
quotation is made and when the costs actually become known. Generally, prices need to be quoted
before production starts, but by using this system, the costs are known only after completing the
job. The companies are able to calculate the actual cost of labour and material charges but for the
overhead cost, only able to estimate. Therefore, there is an inaccuracy because the companies may
take a loss if they quote too low or will loss customers if they quote too high. The construction
industry and ship building industry always face these problems as the companies works on
individual projects rather than standardized

Why Was Lebron Important
Why is LeBron the person he is? How did he become good at leading his team to the NBA
finals? Did one day he just woke up with this ability and then used it to play basketball or
something? The reason why LeBron is the person he is today is because he practice. He made
steps and plans on how to do things. In addition to that he started at a young age at being a good
leader and a good student at school. Even though that LeBron was extremely good at basketball, he
had to do his work in order to play the game he loved so much. Most people in the world would
like to be him. Those who ask him how to become like him wonder, what steps and plans should

The purpose of this literature review is an exploration into effective instructional strategies to ensure
fifth grade mathematics readiness. This two part study investigates what teachers consider to be
key elements in instructional design and implementation to support mathematics curriculum across
the elementary grade levels. It will also investigate specific mathematics skills that teachers believe

Unless a learner enters a grade with a full proficiency of the skills learned in prior years, that
learner must be retaught or face the very real risk of falling even further behind.
While reteaching is seen in a negative context, one in which students need remedial instruction to
help them become proficient in heir current grade level skills, it is also seen as an effective
instructional tool in the mathematics classroom. Incorporating curriculum review in daily
instruction assists educators in finding deficiencies in foundational mathematics skills and
addressing those needs in a timely manner.
Early Numeracy in the Lower Elementary Grades Standardized testing has become a controversial
topic. Contrasting opinions either support or oppose the use of standardized testing to truly
measure a learner s proficiency. These tests base their content on what a learner should know by
their respective school year. When a learner reaches the end of the fifth grade year, but is
performing below average on their state s standardized test, one cannot help but wonder where the
breakdown has occurred. The natural response is to want to locate the disconnect in a student s
learning pattern and correct this for future students. By beginning early numeracy skills in early
elementary grades, specifically kindergarten and first grade, students are beginning the scaffolding
they need to successfully transition to subsequent grade levels. Using student centered instructional

How Did The Beatles Become So Popular
The appeal of the Beatles in 1964 could be attributed to many different things. One important
reason was that their style of music was like nothing else people would have heard on the radio.
A lot of the music on the radio was either pop or blues. The Beatles were heavily inspired by
American pop and blues acts such as Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley.
They combined aspects of both genres to make very radio friendly music that was still unique to the
American public.
Their appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show along with a largely promoted tour of the United
States also helped launch them into superstardom in America. The Beatles were heavily promoted
to be the biggest band in the world, and it was extremely successful. They performed dozens of
concerts all over the United States, each of which was attended by thousands of screaming fans
who were so loud that the music was barely audible. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are by far the most popular band of all time. Everybody knows who they are, and everyone in

start a band. They also have influenced hundreds of musical acts, such as The Rolling Stones,
Nirvana, U2, The Beach Boys, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and countless other acts.
The Beatles also were responsible for bringing more popularity to psychedelic and experimental
music. Nothing that The Beatles wrote was new or groundbreaking, but they exposed millions of
people to music that otherwise would have never been heard. The Beatles, along with The Beach
Boys, were the first acts to have psychedelic songs that were high charting. If they weren t

The Link Between Science And Crime
The link between science and crime was originated days back in 1840 s in Europe and when
Spanish physician Soler made reference to the concept of the born criminal.
No one in the history of criminology has a reputation like Cesare Lombroso.
Darwin s hypothesis of development, with its startling decisions and cautious arrangement
frameworks, in view of point by point physical portrayals of many finch mouths and ocean turtle
carapaces, is a prime sample of this new science. Taking up from where Darwin left, Cesare
Lombroso s deliberate investigation of criminal physiognomy tried to support society by
recognizing crooks. Lombroso particularly inspired by the thought of Charles Darwin that some
men are hereditarily closer to their primitive heritage of the concept of born criminal.
Lombroso was a multifaceted researcher who took a gander at for all intents and purpose each part
of the lives, minds, bodies, state of mind, words, lifestyles, and practices of criminal guilty parties
with expectations of discovering the conclusive reason for crime. He was the pioneer in actuation of
investigative systems to criminology. Lombroso turned into a well known positive criminologist.
The essential thought behind constructive criminology is that lawbreakers are conceived as being

that brings about criminal inclinations. Lombroso s fundamental theory was his concept of atavism,

Effects Of Sexting In Teenagers
Most teenagers see sexting or sending nudes as a normal teenager thing. One thing they don t know
is the risks they re running by sending inappropriate messages or pictures to another person. In
order to try and prevent sexting amongst teens, multiple laws have been enforced throughout the

Sexting nude images of teens under the age of 18 is seen as child pornography and is illegal in the

Bullfrogs as most of the other frogs and toads, are faced with an unusual locomotory challenge.
They have to swim and jump using primary the hind limbs. The foot possess five rays and hand
posses fore rays. Hind limbs and fore limbs posses a web like structure to help frog locomotion also
in water (Nauwalaerts, Sandra et al, 2007).
Respiratory system
Bullfrogs as many other amphibians use three respiratory surfaces for gas exchange: skin, mouth,
and lungs. In bullfrogs lungs are present in adults
(Hickman, 2006). On land Bullfrogs breath with their mouths closed. Bullfrogs present a positive
lung pressure for breathing (Heckman, 2007). Their throat movements pull air through the nostrils
to the lungs. Then breathe out with body contractions. Bullfrogs can also respire under the water

Peaceful Protest Essay
In the past few years, protest movements have surged across the United States. Various issues,
thought to have been resolved, have explosively re entered political discourse. In light of these
demonstrations and their outwardly unsubstantial effect, many have begun questioning the purpose
of peaceful protest. The majority of the issues being rallied against still exist, after all. However,
civil disobedienceis needed to preserve the well being of any free society, including America. Due to
nonviolent resistance, individuals are able to diversify perspectives, preserve their integrity, and
resist a pernicious self satisfaction in a nation s progress. Firstly, civil disobedience promotes the

It is too easy to assume that all is well, that all are treated equally, that America is truly the land of
the free. Accepting a facade of perfection is much simpler than confronting injustices. With
nonviolent protest, however, that facade is not allowed to persist. Many spokespeople, in reaction
to the outcry against Trump s controversial actions, have dismissed violent and nonviolent objectors
as restless troublemakers. While that may be true of the violent protestors, that argument implies
that peaceful protest is inherently an unworthy pursuit because it upsets the serenity of a free
society. I beg to differ: it is because protest disrupts the social order that it is so greatly needed.
Without protest, we are lulled into the trap of security. We begin to think that endorsing outlawed
torture tactics, attacking the free press, and violating the First Amendment is normal and morality
suddenly diminishes in importance. Yet, by protesting, we are able to resist the temptation of

Cost Of Art Education
Pablo Picasso once said Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he
grows up. Think about this, when a child is young they are given crayons and paper to occupy
their time; mothers sing to their babies or play them classical music. From a young age we are
taught to create, and we really are all artists. We create until creation is deemed nonessential, and
the art projects we work into our everyday routine are demoted to electives. Funds for Education
have been cut in over 80% of U.S. schools in the last 10 years, and the first programs to leave are
often art education. Harvard President Drew Faust recently wrote. The same classes we as a nation
are deeming unnecessary are mandatory in countries that rank consistently... Show more content on

School System needs to stop defunding art programs because art is important in our history.
Without art, we would have less interpretation of our history. In any history class we study the
artists of each time period and how they interpreted their times. Most of what artists do is tell
stories, they help us make sense of the world. It can connect us to the past, present and the future.
Throughout history our greatest minds have often merged discovery and art, the geniuses we learn
about in history aren t only math matachins or scientists, but artists on top of that. Einstein stressed
the importance of having a creative mind, once saying I m enough of an artist to draw freely from
my imagination, which I think is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited.
Imagination encircles the world. Without art we would have a much more narrow view of our past,
and future generations will have a narrow view of our current events. Sure, you could say that we
still have a history without art; but without photos, paintings, and sculptures would we really fully
grasp our past? By cutting our generation off from art education we are cutting off future
generations from learning too. Without artists to document our history, our great grandchildren will
be without that connection to what s going on today. While art connects us to the past, and the
world s history, it connects us to so much

North Carolina And South Carolina
Moving to North Carolina In different parts of the world, people do things differently. Someone
from the United States is not going to say hi the same way someone in Europe will. In the
United States people from New York are not going to be the same as people from North Carolina.
This was a big change for me when I moved from New York to North Carolina. People in the south
have a different dialect than from people in New York. When I first moved to North Carolina it
was a different place. I was used to the buildings and the busy highways, and when I moved here
it was nothing like that, it was very open with farms and golf courses. The surroundings were not
the only thing that changed people from the south were completely different. The first couple of
weeks living here, I just thought that people did not know how to speak. I was thirteen at the time
and I was very ignorant. I thought people in North Carolina were just stupid. I remember walking
into a Walmart and buying a few items, then checkout. The cashier was a big old women with short
black hair. She said, Your change is eight dollars and fifty two cents.
I just looked at that women and thought she was from a different country, she did not sound like
me at all. I asked my mom when I got to the car. What did that women say? she replied, Honey, she
was just telling me my change.
I looked at my mom with big eyes, and then I started to laugh. My mom joined me, but I do not

My Breaching Social Norm Experiment
For my breaching social norm experiment, I was determined to do something I would never do
even if it was a dare, especially since my ability to interact with strangers is not what I consider
advanced. So, I decided to make people feel uncomfortable by holding their hand. What I would
do is walk up to the person from behind and slowly make my way to their handto make them feel
even more uncomfortable. People normally hold hands with their significant other, or with
someone they know, like a friend or family member, so to be holding hands with a stranger is
infrequent and abnormal. In preparation for starting our experiment, it took my confidant,
Carla, and I about an hour to finally initiate the first move. Before even holding hands with
strangers my mind was swirling with multiple questions and thoughts, like Why am I even doing
this? , I don t appreciate making people feel uncomfortable. , Why is Mrs.Henry torturing me! ,
Can I just not do it? , and so on. In addition to my thoughts and questions, I felt myself sweating
and my stomach felt as if it was in a twisted knot. While I approached my first victim I felt the
temperature of my body raise up to boiling point and the color of my skin turn from snow white
to lava red in a split second. To make things worse, once I held onto the lady s hand, she was
gripping onto mine and was holding on tight, and my reaction was to laugh because when you are
in an uncomfortable situation you honestly don t know how to

The Concept of Advanced Civilization Led to the European...
During the European conquests of the 16th and 17th centuries, the concept of an advanced
civilization was essential most of the time. This can be supported by the strategic Spanish
conquests, Portuguese exploration, and the Dutch trading empire.
To begin with, North and South America, which had existed in isolation for thousands of years,
came into contact with the rest of the world via the Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus. In
1492, he was sent by Spain to look for a route to India. Rather, Columbus came into contact with a
Caribbean island. This marked the beginning of Spanish invasion of the Americas, who were in
search of gold. Perhaps the most profound Spanish conquistadors were Hernan Cortez and
Francisco Pizzaro, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Incas had no knowledge of the wheel, arch construction, or writing, but they managed a
society in the Andes. Pizzaro arrived with 180 men and 30 horses, and decided to meet with the
ruler, Athualpa, under an agreement of having unarmed body guards. As the gold covered ruler
agreed, he was immediately stripped of his gold headband and one blast of his cannon and small
army slaughtered the Inca warriors 50,000. Atuhualpa tried to free himself by offering a 17ft by
22ft by 9ft room of gold. The Spanish took the offer, but still murdered Atuahulpa to show that they
could not be trusted so that others would abide by their rule. The contact between the Americas
and the Old World began biological exchange of animals and foods which greatly benefited trade.
Additionally, Vasco de Gama was a Portuguese explorer who discovered an ocean route to India,
in 1498, by going under the tip of Africa, or Cape of Good Hope. This way avoided conflicts with
the Ottoman Turks and led one directly into the fast moving currents of the Indian Ocean. This
plan was carefully devised by skilled Portuguese mapmakers and navigators. Since this way was
known, many rulers such as the Sultan of Manindi, offered the Portugese captain a pilot to guide
his ships to trade for spices, gems, and fine (cotton, paper, porcelain, silk, glass, carpets) textiles.
The Asian trading network, however were not interested in Portuguese goods such as iron

de Vere, Aubrey the Monk, Chamberlain and Queen s Chamberlain Although it is often said that
the de Vere family came across with William at the time of the Conquest, it is more likely that
the de Vere family were in England as landowners from around 1000 AD, being related to the
Frankish knight, Godfroi de Vere and the Norman knight Alphonsus de Vere. This does not
preclude Albericus from being at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, as recounted by contemporary
historians, since many Norman knights gathered to William s standard from all around Europe.

Dominate Cultural Patterns of Switzerland Essay

Dominant Cultural Patterns in the United States as Compared and Contrasted to Dominant Cultural

Switzerland is one of the most mountainous countries in Europe. The Alps cover more than half of

into 3 areas: the Alps, the Mittleland (plateau), and the Jura mountains.

The Swiss are more thoughtful and create a community of trust and loyalty.
Like each state in the United States, the Swiss cantons have their own constitution, legislative,
executive, and judiciary branch. Patriotism and loyalty are established by military service.
According to the reference book, Culturgram, every physically fit male serves in the Swiss Army.
They train on occasion and keep their gun and uniform at home always ready to form a militia to
defend the country (278).
When comparing and contrasting equality between the two countries, the citizens of both the
United States and Switzerland consider themselves equal. Both countries provide constitutions that
guarantee freedoms and liberties for their citizens. Freedom of religion is guaranteed in the first
amendant of the constitution in the United States. In 1973, a referendum repealed articles of the
constitution of Switzerland that were responsible for banning the Jesuit order and the founding of
new religions houses, guaranteeing freedom of worship (Bram 65).
When comparing and contrasting the dominant cultural pattern of materialism, I can only infer that
the Swiss citizens enjoy creature comforts just as much as the citizens of the United States. The
Swiss are known to be conservative and value thrift. The United States is credit orientated. We seem

A Research Study On Pharmaceutical Compounds
Continuous growth in population of the world has led to rapid increase in demand and competition
for water. Also, Canada is one of the highest water users per capita in the world(Government of
Canada). Therefore, removal of contaminates from water that threat the quality and integrity of
water resources is an important issue and demands vast researches to be conducted in this field.
Pharmaceutical compounds, as one of the pollutants of water resources, are continuously emerging
aquatic environment due to their extensive usage in human and veterinary medicines and this has
become a scientific and social concern. Moreover, these compounds are only partially removed in
waste water treatment plants (WWTPs); hence are entered to the treated outlet effluents of these
systems (Lydia M. Barrett 2015, Jia, Y 2012). Antibiotics are one of the most important groups of
pharmaceutical compounds and are extensively used for either prevention or treatment of disease
(Hao Chen 2011). Occurrence of antibiotics in aquatic environment causes the development of
antibacterial resistance bacteria and genes(Lydia M. Barrett 2015) that causes the normally
effective antibiotics in use to not work well or fail completely(Vera Homem,2011). For instance,
the Canadian Intensive Care Unit (CAN_ICU) conducted a survey on the prevalence of antibiotic
resistant bacteria in intensive care units (ICUs) in 19 hospitals over the Canada. Their research
revealed that about 20% of overall sampled bacteria

COMMERCIALIZATION OF ORGAN TRANSPLANTS
Arguments in favor of organ commercialization
Commercialization of human organs from consenting adults will lead to an increase in the supply
of organs needed for transplants (Kanniyakonil, 2005). The major challenge in hospitals is the lack
of organs needed for transplantation to the increasing number of patients. Currently, organs are only
accepted from victims of altruism suicide and this does not cover the medical needs throughout the
world. Thus, by commercializing organs for transplants, the number of organ will ... Show more

Commercialization of organs will also lead to degradation in the medical ethics. Patients who are
incapable financially may not be given the same medical care quality as people with money.
Medical incompatibility is another reason why commercialization of human organs is not
advisable. Family members are advised to donate due to enhanced chance of molecular
compatibility. However, if organs are sold over the counter unknowing public may buy the organs
without the knowledge of the required medical compatibility. Thus, their loved ones may develop
serious medical complications or even die as a result of the transplant.
My position on the debate
My position on the debate of commercialization of organ transplants is that it should not be
allowed. This, however, does not mean that people are not participating in the practice.
Commercialization of organ transplant is a lucrative business. However, this is morally wrong and
is against human ethics. This is due to the fact that commercialization of human organs even if it
results in saving lives has a bigger negative impact on the society and on the individual. The major
moral problem is that people donating will be under the obligation of benefiting. Like is said
earlier, in places where organ commercialization is being practice, the business is very lucrative.
The need to benefit from the organ donations violates the ethics that are aligned with human

Ethos Pathos In Pepsi
Advertisements are everywhere; while driving you may see them on a billboard, while watching tv,
looking through your phone, and even while watching your favorite youtuber. Advertisements have
been around so long that the techniques behind them are down to a science. Advertisements have
been around for so long that they are as apart of our culture as much as television or music. Many
times, advertisements will use certain strategies in order to sell their product. The most common
being Aristotle s three modes of persuasionethos, logos, and pathos. Ethos is an appeal to someone
s ethics, their character, it is used to convince the audience of the author s credibility. The third
appeal, pathos, is an appeal to the audiences emotion. These strategies have been proven to work
very well, so what if an advertisement implemented many of these strategies and still received
backlash or wasn t well received. Well, Pepsi found themselves in that position with their
advertisement featuring Kendall Jenner. The advertisement used appeals to pathos, ethos, and even
implemented many parts of North American culture, so why did it receive so much backlash? By
analyzing pathos, and ethos, I will determine why it received much backlash despite having
everything a commercial should.
The advertisement begins with a Pepsi can being opened with the song Lions by Skip Marley
playing in the background. The camera then cuts to a man on the roof playing a violin. The camera
then cuts to what a

The Earth s Need for Population Limitation Laws Essay
Earth s population is increasing, and areas which are already home to millions are continuing to
expand. As these cities continue to grow, when the population reaches a certain point it is
referred to as a megacity, a megacity is a metropolitan area with a total population of 10 million
plus. These megacities are so large that they are becoming out of control settlements, cities like
Los Angeles and Tokyo are being forced to expand upwards due to having to accommodate for the
thriving population. These cities are also faced with the issue of not having enough resources such
as food and water to support the demand required. With megacities rampant growth with it bring a

By doing this not only is it costly, but they must ensure that the water is shared with other smaller
neighboring cities and rural areas.
Just like Los Angeles, Tokyo, Japan is another example of how megacities are out of control
settlements. Tokyo is located in the southern Kanto region, positioned in approximately the centre
of the Japanese archipelago (islands that formed the country of Japan) (see appendix three). Toyko s
population in the metropolis as of 2012 was approximately 37.2 million people (Allianz, 2014).
With such a high population in such a dense urban area these megacities are being forced to
expand upwards in order to accommodate for the citizens (see appendix Three). However by
doing this many risks are associated, for example, Tokyo sits on fault lines that make up a part of
the Ring of Fire, meaning that there are high chances of natural disasters to occur at any time (The
telegraph, 2011). Megan Linkin, a natural disaster expert from Swiss re states:
This quotation is stating that due to Tokyo s geographical placement that a natural disaster like
earthquakes, tsunami s or volcanic activty could occur at any given moment. So when a natural
disaster does occur it is likely to result in a high number of collapsing buildings and other
infrastructure which were designed for large numbers of residents. This will result in a large
number of casualties and because of the

  • 2. Entrepreneurial Self Efficacy Business opportunities are like buses, there s always another one coming. Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Enterprises With a plethora of new ideas, innovations, skills and opportunities, entrepreneurship has become a new trend in employment across the world. It is a good way to alleviate the pressure on employment. Entrepreneurship can improve economic efficiency, bring market innovation, increase employment opportunities and maintain employment levels (Shane, amp; Venkataraman,2000). Keeping this in mind, in the recent years, universities now focus their attention to promote entrepreneurship through education so as to instill motivation, confidence, interest and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Source: Entrepreneurial self efficacy and business start up: developing a multi dimensional definition by DrnovЕЎek M. et al). Theories in the past suggest that education targeted towards entrepreneurship can plays an important role in developing levels of self efficacy. A bulk of researches has been done on how education has affected the entrepreneurial self efficacy among the students. Bandura has said that self confidence in our abilities to successfully perform specific tasks comes from four key sources: mastery experiences, modeling, social persuasion, and judgments of our own physiological states. Thus by providing education that is focused towards developing skills and interest for entrepreneurship, can develop self efficacy in individuals. However, this is not always true. Sometimes entrepreneurship education can also have a negative impact. Particular combination of personal, perceptional and situational factors can lead to entrepreneurship education actually decreasing the level of entrepreneurial intentions. Researchers like Fayolle et al (2006) and Brockner et al (2004) have suggested that education programs can have a counter effect too. Nevertheless, my personal belief is that entrepreneurship education has a positive impact on entrepreneurial self efficacy. Earlier reviews on the entrepreneurship education reveal that entrepreneurship education should take the action learning or experience oriented learning approach in order to increase the ... • 3. What Is The Theme Of Her First Ball Katherine Mansfield s short story Her First Ball introduces us to Leila, a country girl on her way to her first ball with her cousins, the Sheridan sisters. A range of language features convey Leila s attitude of naive and excitement as the ball begins, and her transition to a young woman who is more socially experienced and mature by the end of the story. The story conveys the message that loss of innocence is an inevitable and vital part of the transition from adolescence to adulthood. At the beginning of the story, Leila s attitude towards the ball is one of exuberance as she has ever experienced anything like it before. Mansfield uses language features such as similes, personification and metaphors to emphasize Leila s breathless excitement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The text starts off with a giddy tone that accentuates Leila s excitement for the ball Exactly when the ball began Leila would have found it hard to say. this gives a sense that Leila has lost track of reality, from being whisked away by the glamour and grandiose of the ball when she first enters the hall. Around the middle of the text the tone transitions from giddy and cheerful to a more depressing tone when Leila encounters the fat man. This is shown by the quote It hardly bears thinking about, does it? said the fat man gloomily. Leila looked at his bald head, and she felt quite sorry for him. Which shows us the change in tone when Leila meets the fat man. Leila s time with the fat men is characterised by her being pulled away from the fantasy of the ball and back to reality as she gets shocked by the fat man s realist/pessimist view. After Leila s encounter with the fat man ends the tone of the text changes back to cheerful and exuberant with the quote The lights, the azaleas, the dresses, the pink faces, the velvet chairs, all became one beautiful flying wheel. this shows us that immediately after the fat man leaves the ball goes back to normal and Leila forgets him and carries on with her youthful fantasy version of the ball. The changes in the tone of the text shows how adolescents live in the moment and tend to easily pass things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Gender Inequality And The Aristotelian Society Gender Inequality in an Aristotelian Polity Aristotle s philosophies were deeply influenced by his upbringing and interest in biology. He believed that the reason of a thing lies in its function. Everything that exists has a purpose, and that purpose is the reason that thing is the way it is. For example, all the substances that make up a seed are there because the way those particular substances interact with each other causes that seed to grow. When the seed grows, it reaches its full potential as a plant. Humans are the same. Humanbeings have a potential to live up to, which is finding true happiness by living an honorable life. One lives an honorable life by complying with societal standards, which are built through community based on three levels of organization. The first of these is the household, which is designed to manage the necessities of individual existence, such as procreation, sleep, nourishment, and shelter (pg. 35). The second is the village, which in simple terms is the market place of society, where people buy and sell goods and services. The last of the levels is the polis, the political community in charge of making collective decisions in the public s best interest. Each of these levels performs an essential, inescapable function in any society (pg. 35) Species survival is crucial to any society, and is covered under the household level of government. But because species survival is so important, those who are capable of bearing children will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are primarily three different types of nuclear radiations О±, ОІ and Оі radiation.Figure 2 shows different types of radiation and their penetration capability. Fig: 2 Penetrating capabilities of О±, ОІ and Оі particles. Alpha radiations consist of two protons and two neutrons, these mainly occur at the time of alpha decay , Since alpha radiation travel a very short distance hence they can be easily stopped by paper or normal clothes, Alpha radiations are harmful when in contact directly with the skin or the source being swallowed. Beta radiations are high speed and high energy electrons and positrons which occur are produced at the time beta decay, beta radiation may travel meters in air and is moderately penetrating, these radiations can penetrate up to germinal layer of the skin where new skin cells are produced and hence can harm the skin quite effectively. Gamma rays are high frequency electromagnetic radiations and contain high energy per photon; these are produced by the decay of higher energy atomic nuclei. These rays can travel many meters in the air and can penetrate the skin up to centimetres. Dense materials are needed to shield from gamma radiation. 1.2Radiation Detection In the process of decontamination radiation detection is the most important process, A ... • 6. The Meaning Of The Word Nigger The word nigger has been around since the beginning of our nation. It has made an appearance in numerous songs, speeches, and even literary classics such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Over the years, the word and its meaning have changed drastically to mean positive things in the black community, however the original insult is still present in some contexts. Many believe we should prohibit the use of the word as best we can in order to put an end to the negative uses. However, I believe that we should instead be working towards changing the meaning of the word forever instead of condemning it. Although many argue the n word should be censored at all times, I believe it should not be censored because it is vital in understanding out nation s past, the meaning of the word has adapted throughout time to be positive, and condemning it would only allow the word to sustain its negative meaning. The word niggeris crucial to understanding our history. Some argue that the word is always attributed with the nation s past blunders such as discrimination and slavery and for that reason it should be banned. For example, the article ____ states that the word has long conjured images of lynchings, oppression, bigotry, and discrimination (OBAMA). Although this is true, these images are necessary in describing our country s background. Without the use of this word to do so, it would be impossible to understand the extent of prejudice that this country had present ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was a time of literary splendor, climaxed by the incomparable works of William Shakespeare. This was a time to comparable to exam plified by the sea captains Sir Francis Drake and John Hawkins, who defected the Spanish Armada in 1588. It was a time of population growth and economic activity with new wealth flowing to several levels of society. And it was a time of religious tumutt and renewal. It was the English who played the major part in setting British North America were Protestants of a distinct type. When the youthful Edward VI succeeded Henry VII in 1547, his Protestant advisors greatly accelerated the pace of religious change in England. They enhanced the authority of such leaders as the Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer, whose liturgical theology was a subtle blend of Lutheran and reformed emphases seasoned by the wisdom of the early church. And they encouraged the removal of Roman Catholic practices and customs that had survived under Henry VIII. In this reforming context the most advanced group of Protestants seized the opportunity to push reform in England to what they thought was its logical conclusion. King Edwards died in 1553 and was successful by his half sister Mary Tudor. Under her rule, Protestants, common people as well as leaders such as Cranmer, went to the flames for their conviction. • 9. 1 9 †To what extent can preparedness and planning mitigate... A hazard is a situation that poses a level of threat to life, health, property, or environment. There is a very big difference that helps prepare for a volcanic hazard and that is whether you are in a MEDC or a LEDC. In a MEDC monitoring volcanic zones and potential hazards is an option many LEDC s don t have. In Italy at Mt Etna they have Geochemical monitoring programs currently run by INGV which focus on the analysis of temporal changes, chemical changes and seismic activity. Some times warning isn t enough because of peoples different circumstances and beliefs they might not leave. One example is in Columbia in 1985 where they where warned but didn t listen as they didn t think they would be affected and didn t trust the people telling them. About 20,000 people are feared dead after a volcanic eruption in northern Colombia. Four towns in the Andes region are reported to have been buried when ash spewed out of the volcano, Nevado del Ruiz, causing a mudslide. These people weren t told to evacuate until 2 hours before the major eruption casing massive loss of life. The reason for this late call was because the country didn t trust the people observing the volcano this meant the potential hazard was far greater then it should have been ad the results where horrific. This is one example of how poor education and different situation can greatly increase the hazard. The Nevado del Ruiz Volcano eruption is also a great example of how the physical environment affects the hazard. In Armero two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Speech About Naps As a child, it is common for one to fight not to take a nap. Children do not like being told to nap. At some point, however, often in one s teen or young adult years, one generally grows to appreciate an afternoon nap, and even to view it as a luxury. Yet, it may still remain stigmatized in some people s minds that napping is just for young children. In addition, in a typical adult s daily life, he does not have time to stop his day and lie down to nap for two hours. He is too busy at work, or taking care of other responsibilities he has. In more recent years, however, researchers have begun to observe incredible benefits to midday naps, such as improved performance, mood, and memory. • 11. Beach Erosion in Southern California Beach erosion is a serious issue today especially with human civilization building cities near the coast and disrupting the natural distribution of sediment deposition for our own convenience. Especially in southern California, beach erosion has some serious social, economic and environmental impacts on our society as a whole. Along with the rise of our sea levels due to global warming melting our polar ice caps, this erosionis having profound effects on coastal societies and has damaging effects on infrastructure worldwide. With human ingenuity, we have come up with various methods such as hard and soft engineering in order to both prevent and mitigate the effects of beach erosion. Introduction There are 2 types of beaches. One is erosion dominant and the other is deposition dominant. The erosion dominant one has more erosion than deposition so the beaches shrink. In the other case, if there is more deposition than erosion, then the beaches grow due to more sand being deposited upon it. The only reason why beaches shrink is due to erosion and this can happen for a variety of reasons. One reason being that if a shore tends to receive more destructive waves than constructive waves, then the beach will erode over time. This is because destructive waves erode and constructive waves deposit sediment. A very relevant example is that the beaches in southern California are naturally shrinking right now because they aren t receiving enough sediment from the San ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The majority of the issues being rallied against still exist, after all. However, civil disobedienceis needed to preserve the well being of any free society, including America. It is too easy to assume that all is well, that all are treated equally, that America is truly the land of the free. Accepting a facade of perfection is much simpler than confronting injustices. With nonviolent protest, however, that facade is not allowed to persist. Many spokespeople, in reaction to the outcry against Trump s controversial actions, have dismissed violent and nonviolent objectors as restless troublemakers. While that may be true of the violent protestors, that argument implies that peaceful protest is inherently an unworthy pursuit because it upsets the serenity of a free society. I beg to differ: it is because protest disrupts the social order that it is so greatly needed. Without protest, we are lulled into the trap of security. We begin to think that endorsing outlawed torture tactics, attacking the free press, and violating the First Amendment is normal and morality suddenly diminishes in importance. Yet, by protesting, we are able to resist the temptation of normalization and abetting unjust practices, and we instead make a change for the better, as witnessed in a federal judge s nationwide block of the Muslim ban within a week of its implementation, following nationwide demonstrations (NPR, 2017). During the European conquests of the 16th and 17th centuries, the concept of an advanced civilization was essential most of the time. This can be supported by the strategic Spanish conquests, Portuguese exploration, and the Dutch trading empire. To begin with, North and South America, which had existed in isolation for thousands of years, came into contact with the rest of the world via the Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus. In 1492, he was sent by Spain to look for a route to India. Rather, Columbus came into contact with a Caribbean island. As the gold covered ruler agreed, he was immediately stripped of his gold headband and one blast of his cannon and small army slaughtered the Inca warriors 50,000. Atuhualpa tried to free himself by offering a 17ft by 22ft by 9ft room of gold. Moreover, these compounds are only partially removed in waste water treatment plants (WWTPs); hence are entered to the treated outlet effluents of these systems (Lydia M. Barrett 2015, Jia, Y 2012). Antibiotics are one of the most important groups of pharmaceutical compounds and are extensively used for either prevention or treatment of disease (Hao Chen 2011). Occurrence of antibiotics in aquatic environment causes the development of antibacterial resistance bacteria and genes(Lydia M. Barrett 2015) that causes the normally effective antibiotics in use to not work well or fail completely(Vera Homem,2011). For instance, the Canadian Intensive Care Unit (CAN_ICU) conducted a survey on the prevalence of antibiotic resistant bacteria in intensive care units (ICUs) in 19 hospitals over the Canada. Their research revealed that about 20% of overall sampled bacteria ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. commercialization of organ transplants Essay COMMERCIALIZATION OF ORGAN TRANSPLANTS Student: Patrick Frost Instructor: Professor Edwin Martinez del Rio Business Ethics 309 October 21, 2013 Strayer University COMMERCIALIZATION OF ORGAN TRANSPLANTS Arguments in favor of organ commercialization Commercialization of human organs from consenting adults will lead to an increase in the supply of organs needed for transplants (Kanniyakonil, 2005). The major challenge in hospitals is the lack of organs needed for transplantation to the increasing number of patients. Currently, organs are only accepted from victims of altruism suicide and this does not cover the medical needs throughout the world. Thus, by commercializing organs for transplants, the number of organ will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Commercialization of organs will also lead to degradation in the medical ethics. Patients who are incapable financially may not be given the same medical care quality as people with money. Medical incompatibility is another reason why commercialization of human organs is not advisable. Family members are advised to donate due to enhanced chance of molecular compatibility. However, if organs are sold over the counter unknowing public may buy the organs without the knowledge of the required medical compatibility. Thus, their loved ones may develop serious medical complications or even die as a result of the transplant. My position on the debate My position on the debate of commercialization of organ transplants is that it should not be allowed. This, however, does not mean that people are not participating in the practice. Commercialization of organ transplant is a lucrative business. However, this is morally wrong and is against human ethics. This is due to the fact that commercialization of human organs even if it results in saving lives has a bigger negative impact on the society and on the individual. The major moral problem is that people donating will be under the obligation of benefiting. Like is said earlier, in places where organ commercialization is being practice, the business is very lucrative. The need to benefit from the organ donations violates the ethics that are aligned with human ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Ethos Pathos In Pepsi Advertisements are everywhere; while driving you may see them on a billboard, while watching tv, looking through your phone, and even while watching your favorite youtuber. Advertisements have been around so long that the techniques behind them are down to a science. Advertisements have been around for so long that they are as apart of our culture as much as television or music. Many times, advertisements will use certain strategies in order to sell their product. The most common being Aristotle s three modes of persuasionethos, logos, and pathos. Ethos is an appeal to someone s ethics, their character, it is used to convince the audience of the author s credibility. The third appeal, pathos, is an appeal to the audiences emotion. These strategies have been proven to work very well, so what if an advertisement implemented many of these strategies and still received backlash or wasn t well received. Well, Pepsi found themselves in that position with their advertisement featuring Kendall Jenner. The advertisement used appeals to pathos, ethos, and even implemented many parts of North American culture, so why did it receive so much backlash? By analyzing pathos, and ethos, I will determine why it received much backlash despite having everything a commercial should. The advertisement begins with a Pepsi can being opened with the song Lions by Skip Marley playing in the background. The camera then cuts to a man on the roof playing a violin. The camera then cuts to what a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. The Earth s Need for Population Limitation Laws Essay Earth s population is increasing, and areas which are already home to millions are continuing to expand. As these cities continue to grow, when the population reaches a certain point it is referred to as a megacity, a megacity is a metropolitan area with a total population of 10 million plus. These megacities are so large that they are becoming out of control settlements, cities like Los Angeles and Tokyo are being forced to expand upwards due to having to accommodate for the thriving population. These cities are also faced with the issue of not having enough resources such as food and water to support the demand required. With megacities rampant growth with it bring a decline in the quality of life, to prevent this from getting worse laws... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By doing this not only is it costly, but they must ensure that the water is shared with other smaller neighboring cities and rural areas. Just like Los Angeles, Tokyo, Japan is another example of how megacities are out of control settlements. Tokyo is located in the southern Kanto region, positioned in approximately the centre of the Japanese archipelago (islands that formed the country of Japan) (see appendix three). Toyko s population in the metropolis as of 2012 was approximately 37.2 million people (Allianz, 2014). With such a high population in such a dense urban area these megacities are being forced to expand upwards in order to accommodate for the citizens (see appendix Three). However by doing this many risks are associated, for example, Tokyo sits on fault lines that make up a part of the Ring of Fire, meaning that there are high chances of natural disasters to occur at any time (The telegraph, 2011). Megan Linkin, a natural disaster expert from Swiss re states: This quotation is stating that due to Tokyo s geographical placement that a natural disaster like earthquakes, tsunami s or volcanic activty could occur at any given moment. So when a natural disaster does occur it is likely to result in a high number of collapsing buildings and other infrastructure which were designed for large numbers of residents. This will result in a large number of casualties and because of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
