A Research On Educational Vision
Educational Vision
Since the age of five, I have wanted to become an educator. Coming from a household where my
mother worked for the Board of Education created a desire in me to want to make a difference at
that early age. As the director of youth and adult programs, I have seen the challenges that
educational facilities and non profits are faced with. At times, it was very difficult to execute
successful and meaningful programs due to the lack of funding options. I have also seen how it
effects students first hand when classes or programs are dropped or no longer funded. My
professional and personal desires have prompted me to want to become an effective leader and
administrator in education, which will allow me to develop strategies in ... Show more content on

As an educational leader, it will provide opportunities to help design educational studies that reflect
the very best of basic learning with 21st century preparedness for current and future job
opportunities and careers. There have been too many instances where students do not have a
chance to flourish by using their full potential because of budget cuts and various administrative
decisions that in the long run can affect them negatively. As a leader in education, I believe I can
make a difference by establishing universal administration and academic policies that will make
resources available and allocated. The policies will garner enough support to improve the
educational experience. This process will ensure that students will accomplish their goals and in
turn develop them into successful future leaders. My vision is to be forward thinking by having an
anticipation of barriers. However, allocating backup plans will allow for resources to be plentiful in
turn will support the educational needs of the student. My vision will also include a framework that
will promote the demands and essentials of the student. Leadership that is exemplary understands
and knows the importance of expression of values and beliefs. This type of leadership has a voice
that expresses principles that guide decisions and actions. Leadership that is efficient has
philosophy and tools that

How Did The Olympics And It s Impact On America
The 1992 Olympics was a huge impact on America and the Olympics games. The Dream Team
was a success on proving what a genuine team was. People had concerns that pro basketball
shouldn t be played in the Olympics. Originally amateurs against other college teams played
basketballs in the Olympics. FIBA allowed professional to play in the Olympics outside the U.S.
America was unsure for professionals to play. The Olympic team lost in the Seoul games in1998
and brought home the bronze medal. The NBA wanted to win the Gold medal. It was a priority for
the NBA and the United States. The best players would be put together to come home with the Gold
medal. This was a marketing dream to have the absolute best basketballplayers working together at
the Olympics. On April 7th 1989 was official that professionals would play on the Olympic
basketball team. Soon after the Dream Team was created for the Olympics.... Show more content on

Some of the players had hesitation to be apart of the Olympic history. Some of the players were
excited while some had to think about if they really wanted this. Michael Jordon, 6 6 Guard,
played ninety day of golf in the summer. Jordon originally did not want to be apart of the
Olympic team. He then later was convinced to play since he was one of the best players and this
game is bigger than the NBA finals. He had concerns since we absolutely wanted to play with the
best players around. Magic Johnson, 6 9 Guard, automatically said yes. He wanted to be apart of
the Olympics. He was one of the players to say yes first hoping that the other players would follow
his lead. Larry Bird, 6 9 Forward, felt it was very important that Magic was on the team. He felt this
would be a great ending for both of their

Middle-Class Somali-American Identity
As a middle class Somali American, I have an identity that very few individuals in the United
States have. As a result, I have never fit into a particular group of people. I had not realized this
until college because I had always gone to small schools throughout my academic career. From
elementary school to high school, I never belonged to a particular group; instead, I associated
marginally with all of them due to the small class size. I had created a superficial sense of
belonging with a large amount of acquaintances; however, college s different environment exposed
this superficiality immediately. I go to a large public university which boasts over thirty six
thousand individuals. From my personal observation, it seems that individuals

Impact of Race in Othello Essay
Impact of Race in Othello
One of the major issues in Shakespeare s Othello is the impact of the race of the main character,
Othello. His skin color is non white, usually portrayed as African although some productions
portray him as an Arabian. Othello is referred to by his name only seventeen times in the play. He
is referred to as The Moor fifty eight times. Webster s Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) states
that a Moor is Any individual of the swarthy races of Africa or Asia which have adopted the
Mohammedan religion. In Spanish history the terms Moo, Saracens, and Arabs are synonymous.
This indicates that Othello is constantly being degraded and set up as an evil person throughout the
play. What this really means is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shakespeare occasionally used the word to mean brunette or just dark complected1. Roderigo s
comment that he has thick lips indicates that he is of African descent, though (1.1.67). Using the
modern understanding of these references, Othello would most likely be portrayed as an African on
modern stage or film.
Othello himself was a slave before he was an important military official (1.3.137). However, he
wasn t sold into slavery as most African slaves were. He was captured by the enemy and forced
into slavery as a prisoner of war. Hence, the slavery of the play and of the time is viewed as a
financial or military misfortune rather than a racial inferiority which would be commonly
accepted for several hundred years after the play was written. Black and slave were not
interchangeable terms at the time as it was during America s early history. European slaves were
commonly Tartar, Greek, Armenian, Russian, Bulgarian, Turkish, Circassian, Slavonic, Cretan,
Arab, or African. As if to distance the issue of slavery even further, it was often portrayed as
happening long ago or far away on the English Renaissance stage2. As Shakespeare wrote the
play, feudalism was eroding, but it was still strong in the minds of the audience. Slavery is very
similar to feudalism in that they both involve the lower classes being subject to higher classes.
Slavery had to be distanced from the English in order to not be threatening and to reassure them

to enslave him emotionally like she molds her adopted daughter, Estella. (Houston,1992) Miss
Havisham uses Estella as an instrument of revenge against Pip, with my praises, and with my
jewels and with my teachings, and with this figure of myself always before her a warning and

Estella will draw men as a candle attracts moths, and she will treat them as Compeyson treated Miss
Havisham. For Joseph Miller, Miss Havisham had deluded herself into thinking she is only letting
her state of abandonment be a punishment. Through Estella, she will take an indirect, guiltless
revenge and break a hundred hearts for her own heart that was broken. (1958,p.258) She is willing
to enjoy the power of the oppressor without feeling guilty that she is the direct cause behind Estella
s cruel behavior to her suitors, where she feels that men are her natural enemies. For instance, Miss

Test Crt Should Be Used Rather Than Norm Referenced Tests
Criterion Referenced Tests CRT Should Be Used Rather Than Norm Referenced Tests NRT The
assessment looks at the wide variety of methods that educators use to evaluate and determined the
achievement of the student s educational need. The focus of this essay is to look at the Criterion
Referenced Tests (CRT) and the Norm Referenced Tests (NRT) usage to see why the Criterion
Referenced Tests should be used rather than the Norm Referenced Tests. The learningstandards and
the curriculum will be discussed to help determine why the CRT should be used rather than the
NRT. Also, we will take a look at the principal use of how the two methods differ by one using
survey testing and the other mastery testing. I will give my informed opinion throughout the essay.
The Criterion Referenced Tests measure the performance against a fix set of predetermined learning
standards. This means that there will be written descriptions of what students are expected to know
and are able to do in each learning outcome unit stage in the course. This method of assessment is
done to evaluate what skills the student has learned. The learning standards will measure how well
a student has mastered the specific skill described in the national learning standards (Waugh
Gronlund, 2013). Since the teachers and the schools can develop their own learning standards, this
will help the students to be able to accomplish the learning objective performance outcome expected
in my opinion. The curriculum will

The Criticism Of Spinoza
There have been numerous criticisms on Spinoza as well as plentiful interpretations. A common
label of Spinoza s philosophy is pantheism a doctrine defined by Merriam Webster as equating
God with the forces and laws of the universe. This is understandable for on the surface, one may
interpret Spinoza s Godas an equation with the forces and the laws of the universe inasmuch as God
is Deus sive natura where natura is natura naturans. But a more accurate label had emerged:
panentheism. Panentheism, unlike pantheism, maintains a distinction between the divine and non
divine and the significance of both. In pantheism, there is no distinction between the divine and the
universe they are equal while in panentheism, the divine and the universe... Show more content on

The sub categories for these then will be as follows.
For theism, there are numerous sub categories: polytheism, pantheism, monotheism, and finite
godism . There are possibly more than these but these are the most dominant. In all these beliefs,
there is the existence of a God. It may refer to the existence of only one God (like that of
monotheism and pantheism) or many (like that of polytheism and finite godism) simply put, there
is a common denominator in these beliefs and this is the existence of God.
For atheism, there are still sub categories but these sub categories may be better referred to as
classifications or degrees. In a lecture delivered by Alfredo P. Co before the Graduate School of
the Divine Word Seminary, three classifications of atheism were given: philosophical, moral, and
philosophical moral.
In the above excerpt, one may understand a philosophical atheist as a partial atheist wherein the
lifestyle and the philosophical orientation are not in harmony. The atheism is only one side of the
coin, and not the whole coin

North Connex Tunnel
a) Where is the issue located?
The North Connex Project is a nine kilometre underground motorway, beneath Pennant Hills Road,
which links the M2 to the M1. This development has been approved for construction due to the
issue of traffic congestion for motorists travelling between Sydney and the north coast. The Hills
M2 is the motorway connecting Sydney s north shore and north western regions. Furthermore, the
M1 Pacific Motorway links Sydney to the Central Coast, Newcastle and Hunter regions. The issue
of traffic congestion is located in the West Pennant Hills area, where the M2 is, and it extends
further up north to the Wahroonga area, to the M1. The development will also affect the suburbs

There has been much care and time put into making this project as safe for the environment as
possible, and surprisingly the impacts on the environment are quite minimal. The only major
environmental impact of the NorthConnex Tunnel is where there has been the clearance of land for
the infrastructure needed, and this is likely to have an impact on the flora and fauna in those areas
as their habitats are removed. The maps on the following page shows the endangered...vegetation

Apart from during the construction of the tunnel, the local air quality is expected to improve, as
the ventilation stacks are to have an insignificant effect on the air quality as they are being built
high enough so that any pollutants are pumped high into the atmosphere. Also, the air quality
modelling that has been carried out (figure 4.1) has shown that the human made particulate matter
(PM 2.5) is to have a 38% reduction with the NorthConnex Tunnel, in 24 hour average
concentrations, by 2029 as shown in the graph below. When the NorthConnex tunnel is in use,
there will be a reduction in the exhaust emissions and the fuel usage in the area, as there will be
higher average travel speeds than on Pennant Hills Road, a more flat and level road road, and
there will be no need to stop and start at traffic lights like the current

only is Virgin one of Britain s most respected brands, but it is also becoming an international
superbrand. They are involved in planes, trains, finance, soft drinks, music, mobile phones,
holidays, cars, wines, publishing, bridal wear, and more. What unites all these businesses is the

Vague neologisms leave individual minding to define what the new word means and creates the
opportunity for language to create a new reality.
What is known of a virgin is through carefully selected words and images that narrate what ought to
be thought and understood. If language changes the reality of what virgin becomes (Lakoff, 2001,
p.20), what does the company Virgin then stand for?
В•Traditional: Untouched, pure, raw, innocent, inexperienced, naГЇve. В•New Brand: Exciting,
alive, fun, confident, unconventional, bold, provocative. В•Mediating:Virgin employs tactics to
counter potentially negative pre conceptions of the word virgin e.g. Virgin Atlantic s slogan more

The Ultimate Sign
Virgin has been described as the brand that is so many different things for so many people. In
fact, Virgin is often cited as an example to silence those claiming that no brand can be everything
to everyone. They are able to do this because they have successfully leveraged polysemy В– the
potential of signs to carry multiple meanings (Lewis, 2002, p.260). Audiences variously draw on
the raw materials and the deliverables of the Virgin culture to make sense of these signs.
Virgin s most recognizable sign is not their logo В– it is CEO and Chairman, Sir Richard Branson.
Branson has become an integral part of the brand itself and is regularly

Theodore Roosevelt And The Progressive Era
Upon the arrival of the Progressive Era, America shared several common characteristics of the
industrialized countries: drastically increased population, overcrowded cities, poor working
conditions, and significant economic disparity. Three presidents Theodore Roosevelt, William
Taft, and Woodrow Wilson during the Progressive Era made essential domestic reforms and
launched new foreign policies in order to construct America into a more prosperous country and a
leading power around the globe. A driving force in the Progressive Era, Theodore Roosevelt
believed that the government had the right to regulate big business and that the government should
use its resources to help achieve economic and social justice. In his first term, he launched the
Square Deal, which focused on the control of corporations, the consumer protection, and the
conservation of natural resources. In order to achieve his goal of controlling the large corporations
and railroad companies, Congress, under Roosevelt s urge, created the Department of Commerce
and Labor to monitor corporations, help dissolve monopolies, and promote fair competition
between companies. At the same year, Roosevelt initialized the Elkins Act of 1903 to end the
practice of railroad granting shipping rebates to certain companies, and three years later, Theodore s
administration issued the Hepburn Act, which gave the Interstate Commerce Commission the
power to regulate shipping rates on railroads. The second element in the

Causes Of Eyewitness Testimony
Intellectuals and experts alike share a common belief that the most significant cause of unjust
convictions is due to inaccurate eyewitness testimonies. Scepticism of the validity of eye witness
testimonies has increased dramatically; scientific credibility of forensic evidence has weakened its
reliability. Thus, resulting in this being the dominant root of false convictions (Coolican, 1996). In
2007, The Innocence Project stated that over 75% of unjust convictions contained eye witness
testimonies (Innocence Project, 2007). Further studies have also had comparable results, for
example Brandon Davies (1973). Is it feasible that an individual s memory is so imprecise that it is
unreliable in producing faultless memory recall? Furthermore, if memory is so undependable why
is it still frequently used in the criminal justice system today if the consequence is innocent people
being incarcerated?
Historically, eyewitness testimony has been frequently practised, and has played a consequential
role in the conviction of criminals. Monumental amounts of unsolved crimes lacking sufficient
evidence has meant that an eyewitness testimony could help secure a much needed verdict in an
otherwise unsolvable crime. However, in this contemporary society, experts claim that many factors
can be responsible for faulty eyewitness testimony. For example, post incident events, most
specifically suggestive police strategy (Brace and Byford, 2012). Milgram s (1963) study into
obedience highlighted

The Importance Of Stakeholder Inclusion On Agricultural...
1.2 Enumerating the importance of stakeholder inclusion in agricultural innovation system
Devaux et al. (2009) noted that the involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation systems
have enhanced rapid diffusion, adoption, development of knowledge and technological output.
Consequently, the active involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation system has been
integral in enhancing sustainable growth in agriculture (Ojijo et al., 2013). Correspondingly, the
collaboration of diverse heterogeneous stakeholders bring about active interaction, strong linkages
and effective communication. (Ojijo et al., 2013). Also, it facilitates knowledge development
among actors by helping them in identifying their challenges and opportunities by building
coherence through dialogues in setting priorities (Klerkx et al., 2012b). Furthermore, the
stakeholders participation allow actors to voice their needs and concerns in the process of design
and implementation (Birner et al., 2009). Also, it brings the closeness of farmers to other actors,
thereby facilitating large scale production and high marketability. Moreover, the stakeholders
involvement in agricultural innovation system influence their decision and direction of production,
market formation and resource mobilization (Anandajayasekeram, 2011). Also, their participation
brings about better leveraging of human and capital resources for reduction of the transaction costs

Compare And Contrast In Another Country And Ambush
In both In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway and Ambush by Tim O Brien, there are
aspects that are similar. To get a clear aspect of what both texts look at, Hemingway writes about
a short story that is based on the impacts of World War I on soldiers. The short story mainly
focuses on how these particular soldiers experienced the traumatic event of having to participate in
the war which was both psychologically and physically harmful to them. In Ambush O Brien
narrates from a first person perspective of his account when he was a soldier, the story is based on
his last war story that aims at telling her daughter the truth when she gets older. The two texts have

The theme is similar to the one presented by Hemmingway because of the notion or concept used
to develop it. War is a common factor in both texts, seeing that in the text by Hemmingway, war
is the central theme while in Ambush, it has been used to develop the main theme of the text. O
Brien s regret is from throwing the grenade and having to kill all those people he killed. The
regret is from killing the soldiers and all he wished for was that the soldiers had just walked
away past him, that way he wouldn t have had to throw the grenade. In developing the theme, O
Brien uses visions to show the regret and also to contemplate on what would have happened if
things were to happen differently. The two stories were both similar in their story line which was
about war. However, the main themes in both stories differ. While one explores World War 1 and
the effects it had on the soldiers who played a part in it, the other explores the resentment one ex
soldier has for killing a soldier while at war and he wishes the circumstances were

Aquinas Cosmological Argument
Aquinas was a Catholic priest who tried to prove the existence of God using his five cosmological
arguments. I disagree with the validity of these arguments. The arguments presented by Aquinas are
questionable and most certainly do not prove the existence of the Christian God. Aquinas states that
God s existencecan be proved in five ways. The first way he tries to prove God is proof by motion.
He states that motion is a reduction of something from potentiality to actuality. It is impossible for
something to be in potentiality and actuality at the same time. It is obvious that some things in the
world are in motion. Whatever is moved is moved by something else, because nothing can be put
into actuality without being first in potentiality, and something in potentiality can only be put into...

The arguments combined prove a being which is a prime mover, first cause, necessary being,
root of all perfection, and intelligent being. The arguments, however, do not prove the Christian
God as described by the Bible. First, the arguments do not prove that there is only one god.
There could be several gods and Aquinas arguments do nothing to prove otherwise. Furthermore,
a god could have all of these attributes yet never have done anything that was described in the
Bible. For example, I can envision a god with all of these attributes who enjoys to eat cheese. I
could even write a book about such a god and the different types of cheese he eats. And, based on
Aquinas arguments, as my god has all the qualities described by Aquinas, my god is equally as
likely to exist as the Christian God. There are infinitely many gods that can be envisioned which all
have the attributes described by Aquinas. Therefore, there is no way of proving, even if Aquinas
arguments are true, that the Christian God described by the Bible

A low profile tire looks great from the side because of the aggressiveness character, but your ride
quality will definitely suffer when riding over bumps, humps or the occasional pothole. And if
you want to go off roading, then low profile tires are an absolute no no. Driving through rough
terrains require you to have a high profile tire so that you have more sidewall height to have
extra suspension and to cushion your rims from damage. If you dare to use low profile tires to

consider if you will be doing serious mud bogging. If so, you will need special mud tires as these
are specially designed for extra rough road conditions. The tire tread pattern is vastly different
from conventional road tires. Not only are the spaces in the pattern made wider so as to help clear
out the mud more efficiently, the tread pattern itself is designed to provide extra grip and traction
to crawl through the sticky mud. Without using mud tires, you will be stuck in the mud in no time

and sufficient knowledge of axial forces. Bending is defined as a behavior of any structural element
that undergoes the external load, which is applied perpendicularly to longitudinal axis. That
experiment helps us to find the maximum load that can be applied to the beam with rectangular

manner as in the previous example with only the difference in direction for positive moment.
∑MR1(left)= ∑MR1(right) ; R1*0.2 P2*0.34=(R2 P3)*0.24; The resultant bending moment
was found to be maximum at the point where shear forces are minimal and thus equals to
approximately +0.3856 N.m Regarding the moment about the cut, here our group was able to find
the minimum difference between the measured and calculated values applying the same formulas
and assumptions. The resultant moment was calculated to be 0.225N.m , which is approximately
3% difference and thus can be neglected. It is clear from the bending moment diagram that there
is a point except ends where bending moment equals to zero. Such a point have a different of
bending moment on its two sides (left and right) is known as a point of contra flexture. It can be
easily found by using moment equation about that point and equate it to zero. Taking that

point of contra flexture for those specific loads equals 0.223m or 223mm from P1 Figure 7.

Mary, mother of Jesus. Although it is clear that the name Maria is used by the church to honor
Mary, mother of Christ, but according to many, Maria comes from the New Testament Greek
name Mariam, which comes from the Hebrew name Ayam. The word Ayam and Mariam s
meaning s not possibly known, although there are some theories that Maria refers to a sea of
bitterness, or the wish for child . And there s also a theory that Maria is actually an Egyptian name,

This theory suggests that as a mother of Lord, Maria has the power to dominate everything on
earth. The Greek Orthodox Church recognizes Maria as the Holy Mother and celebrates its
memory both August 15 when she died and November 2 1st when Mary s parents took her to the
temple for the first time. The name Maria means almightiness ad omnipotence, but also refers to
wisdom, kindness and mildness. Maria is a responsible person and has tendency to perfection.
She likes seeming very capable and skilled and she counts other people s opinion a lot. But
Maria can also be quite selfish and serious. Alyssa is a Hebrew name meaning Rational and

Charlottesville Protests Argument Analysis
Since the beginning of the Internet s birth as ARPANET in 1969, communication has improved
massively. As with all great wonders there comes a cost the Internet is slowly becoming much
more regulated and observed. With the Internet, the government, whether it be local or national, is
slowly progressing towards an Orwellian future. It is extremely difficult to situate borders for
privacy, and that brings multiple questions to the table. Is it moral to allow people like white
supremacists an unchecked platform to offer their ideas? Is it okay for the government to censor
content it deems immoral? Will observing and profiling people actually help counter any threat of
terrorism? In order for such significant issues to be dealt with, we the people must learn to adapt....

A Report On A Government
A government should always be open to criticism, be held accountable for their actions, and be
honest when notifying the public of any events. This creates government transparency and allows
its citizens to hold their leaders accountable for their actions. In order to create this transparency in
today s society, a technical system must be set in place. This technical system needs to contain
governmentdocuments which are easily accessible to the public. But, not all documents should be
housed in this accessible database. Some government knowledge should be kept secret and
inaccessible, because it could fall into the wrong hands. Documents containing economic
information, such as budgets and spending should be readily available on a database for the public
to access. Without a transparent government, citizens can become unruly and no longer trust their
government due to the high volume of secrets or hidden documentation.
Solution I My first solution to this issue is to open a cloud database which would house any
documents containing government budgets, spending, and/or salaries. This database would be
accessible to everyone with the means to access a cloud database. The database could be accessed
via an application downloaded onto a computer or mobile phone. There is already an app with
these specifications available for Montgomery County in Maryland. The app was built by Socrata, a
Seattle based cloud software company, in order to encourage citizen engagement within their

Analysis Of The Book Werewolves By Gaius Petronius...
Werewolves through the times
Werewolves were first mentioned in 60 C.E. by Gaius Petronius Arbiter in his work satyricon.
The widespread belief in werewolves was parallel to the time people believed in witches. It was
also made popular by christian interpretations and european folklore during that time. The spread of
werewolf belief can be credited to colonialism by the europeans. In China and east asia this similar
belief like werewolves was in weretigers. An ancient story of the werewolves come from a Roman
myth. In 1 A.D. Ovid wrote metamorphoses, where he told the tale of king Lycoan. King Lycoan
offended the gods by serving human meat to them at dinner. Jupiter punished this transgression by
transforming Lycaon into a werewolf. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the belief in werewolves as a dangerous and killing monster has been dispelled in the 21st
century we are still fascinated by the werewolves and these creatures have a presence in our
present society as well. They are referenced in movies of 1981 An american werewolf in london ,
recently in 2009 Underworld Rise of the Lycans and very recently in 2014 wolves . Killer Wolf,
She Wolf, Of Wolf And Man, Wolfshade are some of the songs in the 21st century inspired by
werewolves. Although these movies and songs describe werewolves as dangerous monsters, the
false belief in werewolves have changed and we now view it as a fiction in the fantasy world.
In the movie X Men, Wolverine and several continuations of the X men storyline Wolverine is
shown as a mutant werewolf. Wolverine is a fictional character who is a mutant from birth. In the
movie he helps in the saving the world. The concept of thick hair growth was and sharp claws was
replaced by a furry mustache and steel claws that come out at will and super strength along with
healing powers.
Twilight is a teen movie that shows the love between a girl, Bella and vampire Edward. In the
movie Twilight New moon Jacob has a significant role as a werewolf that is friends with Bella (a
human) and also saves her from multiple attacks. The legend of werewolves was also used by JK

The Nightingale Quotes
This quote is a flashback from an elderly Vianne, and it is the first line in the book. This quote
foreshadows the effect that war has on many characters, and how such a horrible event can put
everything under a microscope and show the courageous battles fought, and not just by the soldiers.
War is an abhorrent event that has the ability to destroy everything. That is no different in the novel
The Nightingaleby Kristin Hannah. The Nightingale is about two French sisters, Vianne and
Isabelle Rossignol and tells their stories while living in a German occupied France. Right from
the very beginning, it seems that the two sisters have completely opposite characteristics. When
Vianne was 14 and Isabelle was 4 their mother died. This is obviously a very emotional time for
the two and they both cope with the death of their mother in very different ways. Vianne is
forced to take over the mother role which is courageous at any age, but at 14 it is simply gallant:
You will be the mother now. Her father said to Vianne while her eyes were swollen from crying,
her grief unbearable (7). Vianne did not even have the opportunity to cope with her mother s
loss before she had to fill her mother s shoes, whose shoes were not easy to fill by any means.
Isabelle on the other hand is a fiercely rebellious girl who refuses to listen to anyone. She is
expelled from a dozen boarding schools throughout her teenage years, and she is unwilling to
settle down and be the proper lady her father so desperately wishes her to be. At the beginning of
the novel, both sisters appear to have distinctive differences in regard to their personality and values.
In 1940, the war begins to intensify at a rapid rate, and it appears that when the war begins the
rebellious side of Isabelle will end up costing her her life or someone around her. The difference
in the two sisters is evident when Sophie questions why they have to relinquish their radio to the
Germans, and Isabelle immediately decides to hide it , and Vianne reacts by telling Isabelle that
they will do as we are told (99). This is a perfect example of different types of courage between the
two sisters. Isabelle s courage is bold and impulsive as she never thinks about the consequences

Skywest Case Study

Strategic Management
Fall 2011

1. The dominant characteristics of the U.S. regional airline industry are they are mostly
controlled by larger airlines or have a contract with them to secure flights. . Most regional airlines
are there for smaller communities to access a flight to the major hubs. Most of the regional
airlines service to major airports, so they are connected or part of a servicing contract with national
airlines, who in turn are part of the operations of the global airline industry. Smaller aircraft and
retired aircraft from the national and global airline industry are used for regional flights.

As major airlines go bankrupt, opportunities to take over the flights and collect on that revenue that
was going to the majors can be realized for Sky West. It can go global. External threats include
rising fuel costs, and limited domestic opportunities.
7. The company s future is promising. Revenues are increasing and its load factor is improving.
Operating expenses are decreasing and compared to other regional airlines, SkyWest offers better
benefits and compensation packages. It is performing efficiently; more so as each year passes.
8. SkyWest, Inc. must seek global markets to enter that allow joint ventures and potential for growth
to strengthen the company s competitive position. I would recommend the management stay on top
of technological advances in aircraft and purchase fuel efficient jets to lower fuel costs. Also, a
plan to consolidate ASA offices with the offices of SkyWest would cut down operating costs.

2. Five Forces Analysis for SkyWest.
Threat of New Entrants. The threat of new entrants is not a strong threat for SkyWest, Inc. because
of its control of distribution channels is high (i.e. service contracts with major airlines), its
proprietary knowledge is high as the company is an established company with experience in the
industry, and capital requirements are high.

Psychological Research And Its Impact On Society
Drawing on examples from chapters 3, 4 and 8 of Investigating Psychology, examine and assess
the extent to which psychological research is of value to society. Psychological research
describes investigations psychologists undertake in order to review and analyse a specific
hypothesis, (a theory about the relationship between defined variables). Research allows theories
to be confirmed, amended or rejected and often leads to further research as requirements evolve.
Psychological research can take many forms, from laboratory based experiments to non invasive
viewing of subjects in their own environment. This research can take place using human or non
human subjects and the analysed results applied to human behaviour or experience within many
disciplines including, education, legal or occupational. Psychological research may be
undertaken on a subset of society; however the importance of the results may have an effect way
beyond the group tested. The value of psychological research varies and the same results can be
used in different ways by different groups of society. I will be looking at three areas of
psychological research that affect the way we interact with and can be affected by technological
advances. These pieces of research were not undertaken as a result of current hypotheses, but were
the early examples of research within their areas and led onto further research. I will be showing
how psychological research can provide awareness, can be used to manipulate

Intro:
During our lifetime we face a varied amount of internal and external conflicts. Some of those
conflicts are physically challenging and some mentally. In the epic poem, The Odyssey by Homer,
translated by Robert Fitzgerald Odysseus triumphs, his external and internal conflicts using his
traits of loyalty, bravery, and intelligence.
Odysseus, though promised immortality by a fair goddess, chose wisely after some inner conflict.
He did not be base and undignified, but candid towards his inner conflict about what he felt on the
inside. As stated, My quiet Penelope how well I know would seem a shade before your majesty,
death and old age being unknown to you, while she must die. Yet, it is true, each day I long... Show

While the Cyclops he encounter is a bloody monster who is possibly fifteen times taller than what
he is, Odysseus as captain comes up with a plan that can harm him and his men. Stated in the
text, I drew it from the coals and my four fallows gave me a hand, lugging it near the cyclops as
more than natural force nerved them; straight forward they sprinted, lifted it, and rammed it
deep into his crater eye, and I leaned on it turning it as a ship wright turns a drill in a planking,
having men below to swing the two handed strap that spins it in the groove. (374 380) This
shows that Odysseus, dauntless, knowing the facts that it might be near impossible for a human
to beat such a monster, shows his bravery by overcoming this external conflict. Furthermore,
Odysseus faces a setting which he battles both externally and internally to not acknowledge the
provoked feelings of fear. From every side they came and sought the pit with rustling cries; and I
grew sick with fear. But presently I gave command to my officers to flay those sheep the bronze
cut down, and make burnt offerings to flesh to the gods below to sovereign death, to pale
Persephone. (598 603) This statement shows how even admitting to having fear, Odysseus does
not let it get in the way of his survival, thus showing bravery. These two quotes not only show
Odysseus bravery with the Cyclopes and his internal willpower, but also his

A Research Proposal On The Civil Rights Movement
Abstract No matter varying ideas as to success, it is difficult to ignore that American culture has
undergone immense changes since the 1950s. The Civil Rights movement, the emergence of
feminism, and gay activism have literally revolutionized the society and how it functions, with
many changes going to the promotion of equality and heightened awareness of the needs of others.
At the same time, unfortunately, sexual criminality and violence remain critical issues, with
women being the primary victims. The patriarchal foundation of the society has diminished, yet
norms still providing men with entitlement remain in place, and this is a reality supported by
modern research still referring to a rapeculture. This same research also presents disturbing
evidence of how young college students widely maintain norms affirming male dominance and
aggression. No simple solution is then possible, and any effective course must rely on as in depth
research as may be conducted. To that end, the following assessment of study on the subject
concludes with a research proposal, and one utilizing Structural Functionalism Theory and the
innate value in interviewing students in both collective and individual ways.
To what extent do mainstream sexuality norms impact sexual criminality? It is inescapable that
elements within a culture or society, and even of the most violent kinds, are linked to how that
society functions and how its norms influence behavior. Certainly, few if any

The Fight For Equality In The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret...
In the U.S., women earn 79 cents for every dollar that a man makes, and the difference between
men and women s median wages is $10,762 enough money to cover 14 months of average U.S.
rent or over a year of full time infant care (in 2014). Instead of diminishing, this drastic gender
wage gap augments over time; for women 15 24 years of age working full time and year round, the
wage gap is about $4,373 per year, but by the time they are 45 64 years of age, they are making
$15,404 less than men. In the workplace, as well as in other aspects of life, women s fight for
equality is strong willed and never ending. Margaret Atwoodunderstood this need to fight for
equality between men and women, and in her cautionary tale The Handmaid s Tale, she describes
a society that forfeits the battle for women s equality and shows how everyone suffers
accordingly. Using the descriptive principal, Atwood writes her cautionary tale from the first
person narration of Offred, who meticulously chooses each scene with the intent of describing her
new world and the lack of freedom it encompasses. The scene in which Offred meets the
commander in his office alone for the first time is carefully written and furthers the plot with its
probability and underlying themes of deception and corruption, which ultimately leads the readers
to the emotional end of relief when Offred escapes this oppressive society. A commander and his
handmaid are forbidden from being in the same room alone, but this scene is

Vulnerability Scanning
Vulnerability Scanning is the art of using one computer to look for weaknesses in the security of
another computer (Houghton, 2003). Just like any other security tool or software available, there
are many forms of vulnerability scanning. Each of these methods provides a specific task to help an
organization determine the security of their networks. These forms of vulnerability scanning are
called:
External
Internal
Active
Passive
These forms of vulnerability scanning are then applied by two types of vulnerability scanners that
scan an organization s network, they are:
Network based
Host based
Finally, the most important thing to understand about vulnerability scanning is that it is a
requirement for Bank Solutions to conduct these scans to meet compliance with Federal regulations.
Costs
The costs for vulnerability scanners run from free to tens of thousands of dollars. It is up to the
CISO and the IT staff to assess what services they require and to choose a scanner that best fits their

Ways People Respond To Conflict Essay
People respond to conflict in many ways. A few such ways include responding to conflict through
lying, deception, and caving in to survive. These are the cases with Diary of Anne Frank. and HItler
youth.
Lying is one way people deal with conflict. Why wouldn t it be. An example would be from the
Diary of Anne Frank. The Diary is in the point of view of a young girl and her family hiding from
the Nazis. She details her experiences in the annex as well as her thoughts and feelings of herself
and others around her. Essentially, Anne and her family lie to the government and neighbors. There
have even been many times when the Nazis have lied. They have lied to Jews by telling them they
would be taking showers and killed them. Lying seems normal in situations of conflict. People may
lie to save themselves or to save others. People may also lie to achieve a sort of goal, whether it be
good or bad. It seems to be a very common way of responding to conflict.
Deception falls into a similar, if not the same, category of lying. It is a trick or scheme to get what
you want. Again the example of this would be when Anne and her family hid in the annex. This,
like I said before, was to escape the Nazis and concentration camps. It ... Show more content on

The excerpt describes how life was for some people living under Hitler. Boys would join the

The Different Ways to Tame a Shrew in Kiss Me Kate and The...
There is not only one method to tame a shrew and the movies Kiss Me Kate and The Taming of
the Shrew prove that this is true. The question is, which method is more effective, and which
method truly succeeds in taming the shrew. To decide which method is the better of the two, the
audience has to look deeper into the methods of Fred and Petruchio. They must study the approach
of each of the tamers by deciding whether their approach is physical or psychological, honest or
deceitful. They must also look at the other methods that each tamer uses and take into account their
motives for taming. When all of these aspects are considered, Fred s method of taming is obviously
the better of the two because it results in a shrew that has truly been tamed. The methods that
Petruchio uses to tame Katerina in the movie The Taming of the Shreware simply not effective. By
the end of the movie the audience has to ask themselves; is Kate actually tamed or is she just
putting on an act? Judging by Kate s actions it is easy to see that she is in fact not tamed, and is
only trying to please Petruchio. When Kate has her speech about how women should treat their

Mexican American And Mexican-American Cultures
After reading the article, my understanding of the terms have changed drastically, when i personally
think about Mexican American or Chicana/O s, i think that they choose to identify as a certain
culture that represents them best.
When identifying as a culture or a best representation of how you feel in your heart, i feel it
comes from the way you are raised and brought up, if your family identifies as a Mexican
American than you will believe that is what you are, and it goes on from generation to generation.
Even 5 or 6 generations ago the family could have identified as Hispano s or even Spanish, but as
times change cultures change and people have change of heart.
These terms are not only culturally related but they are derived from struggle and identification
from a political standpoint, as what was taught in class the term Chicana/O is a political positioning
for people who have been positioned by the government.
From the outside looking in, when knowing someone identifies as a certain culture i notice that it is
not only a way of self identification that was passed down from suffering and scrutiny but it is also
a way of moving on from a certain struggle that has oppressed them for so many years.
Yes, these terms are a way of self identification, heritage, culture and a way of life, it goes back to
the same way you are brought up and the environment in which you live in.

In Black Matters, Toni Morrison discusses knowledge and how it seems to take on a Eurocentric
standpoint. The knowledge she discusses is the traditional literature that is unshaped by the four
hundred year old presence of the first Africans and then African Americans in the United States
(Morrison 310). Morrison also addresses the treatment of African Americans in current society
dealing with racial discourse (311), in addition, to ignoring matters of race. Morrison strongly
argues that the traditional canon, taught and respected by much of society, ignores black s
contribution to society. She is also concerned with the lack of true African representation within the

This statement is depicted in Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, through the Negro servant named
Tobe. Although he is a character in the story, the reference to him is as a doddering Negro man
to wait on her #8230; He talked to no one, probably not even to her, for his voice had grown harsh
and rusty, as if from disuse (Faulkner 76). I feel through literature, society and white writers show
the African American experience or (black life) as valueless. Morrison also argues that society
ignores issues of race by disguising the actual subject. She demonstrates this idea using a famous
book within the canon, Huckleberry Finn . She says that, the critique of class and race is there,
although disguised or enhanced through a combination of humor, adventure, and the naГЇve #8230;
the novel masks itself in the comic, the parody and exaggeration of the tall tale (Morrison 320).
Despite the serious subject matter within the book it simulates and describes the parasitical nature
of white freedom (321). Morrison also claims that society reduces the importance of the African
American experience by perpetuating negative stereotypes. She states that the ending of
Huckleberry Finn has been labeled as a brilliant finesse that returns Tom Sawyer to the center stage
where he should be (321). By replacing the black slave, Jim, with the white character of Tom at the
end of the book, racial stereotypes are confirmed.

The Impact Of Social Media And Its Impact On Society
It is proven that social media has had a huge impact on the way we live our daily lives. Not only
has it changed the way we go about our days, it has changed the way we communicate and
interact with the ones we care the most about. Social media has positively and negatively
impacted our relationships with others. The original intent of social network was to allow
people to more readily stay connected with friends and family (Qualman, 286). Yet, how
regularly do we judge how much social media has affected the way we interface with those that
we are closest to? Social media has allowed us to connect with more people in various parts of
the world that we wouldn t necessarily meet on a week to week basis. With the expansion in the
number of contacts, we can observe that we have access to numerous more thoughts and assets.
It is a lot easier to meet people that have the same traits as you, and it is shown when out of five

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Membrane Distillation
Chapter One
Introduction
1.1 Introduction
The demand of clean water has always been a major universal concern and this issue is becoming
more urgent with the expectation of water deficiency to an alarming rate by the year 2025. Hence,
there are needs a new technologies for desalination and wastewater treatments, to meet the
requirement water demands with credible and affordable water sources. [Teoh and Chung, 2009] (1)
Desalination is a process in which saline water is separated into two parts using different forms of
energy. One that has a low con centration of dissolved salts (fresh water), and the other which has a
much higher concentration of dissolved salts than the original feed water (brine concentrate).[

1.3 The advantages and disadvantages of membrane distillation
The membrane distillation process offers some benefits compared to other separation processes [
Pangarkar et al., 2011, Alcheikhhamdon et al., 2015](4):
1.Operating at lower temperature than the boiling point of feed solution.
2.Can be performed at lower operating pressure compared to pressure driven separation processes,
resulting in reduced costs for the process and membrane.
3.Reduced vapor spaces.
4.Unlimited by high osmotic pressure and fouling.

Herodotus Sparknotes
Herodotus, consider as the father of history, was born in the ancient Halicarnassus, current Turkey,
and lived between 485 and 425 BC, about 150 years previous to the creation of the Library of
Alexandria. Moreover, due to Persian rule over greece, Herodotus fled to Samos resulting from his
conflicts with the local government and will not return until 450 BC, when he participated part in
the campaign to defeat Lygdamis, to once again leave the city after the completion of the campaign.
Furthermore, Herodotustraveled to Athens at the time of its peak, allowed him to contemplate the
great political and cultural boom of the city. During his stay in Athens, Herodotus met Pericles, and

Such direct contact with other cultures, as well their intellectual, and social evolution, obligated
Herodotus to separate himself from the beliefs and visions of the natives.. He described the
heritage and ancient past of the egyptian culture. Continuously, Herodotus specifically focused on
the Ionian belief which expressed, that the Nile delta represented all of egypt. Herodotus challenge
this belief and stated that Egypt already existed before the appearance of the river s delta.
expressing that Egypt, was the country watered by the Nile and its floods, and that the people who
live downstream were egyptian, as the drank and benefited from its waters. Furthermore, the
historian acknowledges antiquity of egyptian men and consider them to the oldest in the world ,
and question the statement by expressing a tale of two babies who are fed by a goat. Finally, the
author contradict himself when after questioning the antiquity of egyptian men, by later supporting

Without The Gold Rush Persuasive Speech
Without the discovery of Gold Victoria would not be the place that it has become today. I believe
this statement is true, without the Gold Rush, Australia wouldn t be nearly as established as it is
now. The Gold Rush in Victoria caused mass colonisation and population growth, and it made
Australia the diverse and multi skilled society.
The Gold Rush made Australia largely colonised and continually expanding. In 1852, 370,000
immigrants arrived in Australia from many different countries. The economy boomed and many
different cultures were introduced. Countries like England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, America,
China and Germany showed up as the majority of diggers on the Australian census. The population

Receiver Of Memory In The Giver, By Lois Lowry
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Giver is a Utopian and Dystopian fiction ; Meaning that the book starts off in a community
where everything is idealistic yet as the story progresses, the setting appears to be an
environmentally degraded one. In this book, there is a boy named Jonas who lives in a
community where everyone is assigned a role at Twelve . Jonas is selected for the role Receiver of
memory and receives the memories of the past through his training to become the Receiver. During
his training, he receives memories that reveal the truth about his community. Jonas dislikes the fact
that his community is hidden from the truth and decides to change it by leaving so that since he is
gone, all the memories of pain, color, love and choices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He passed through forests, rivers, and snow which he only saw in his memories. He finally
experienced it himself. He travelled as far as he could trying to find a new community he could
live in. The community he saw was one he recalled from one of the memories he received. Jonas
stared at the neighbourhood decorated with colorful lights with the snow falling and the people
singing. The memories drifted as he came closer to the neighborhood which meant that the
memories were slowly going back to the

Developing Fluency Requires A Balance And Connection...
Developing fluency requires a balance and connection between conceptual understanding and
computation proficiency. Computational methods that are over practiced without understanding are
forgotten or remembered incorrectly. Understanding without fluency can inhibit the problem
solving process. (NCTM, Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, 2000). Adding It Up
(National Research Council, 2001), and influential research review on how children learn
mathematics, identifies the following five strands of mathematical proficiency as indicators that
someone understands (an can do) mathematics (Van de Walle, Lovin, Karp, Bay Williams, 2014, p.
2). The five strands the National Research Council (2001) identified are: Conceptual understanding,
procedural fluency, strategic competence, adaptive reasoning, and productive disposition. These
five strands are interdependent and interwoven, as the development of one strand aids the
development of the other strands. Conceptual understanding is an important component of
proficiency, along with factual knowledge and procedural competence. O Connell SanGiovanni
(2013) noted there are no tricks in math and the understanding math makes it easier (p. 6). Setting
up opportunities for students to discover rules or generalizations allows them to exercise reasoning
skills as they are making sense of math concepts. Once students understand the process of
multiplication they are ready to focus on the number patterns and

Innateness of Children’s Language Acquisition
The subtlety of language acquisition has been the most fundamental question in the study of
linguistics and human development. From Bow wow Theory to Yo He Ho Theory, major theories
on the origins and learnability of language have emerged in mid 20th century and heavily debated
ever since. Among them, the idea of universal grammar in which is usually credited to linguist
Noam Chomsky, remains the most notable and controversial theory over time. He introduced and
developed the theory from 1950s to 1970s, as he proposed and championed linguistic nativism in
language acquisition. Chomsky supports that language mastery involves knowledge of linguistic
rules and conventions, which he later named that as cognizance . He believes that cognizance...

Subtle measures of surprise (e.g., duration of looking toward the new sounds) are then used to
assess whether the infant perceives the new sample as more of the same, or something different. In
this fashion, we can ask what the infant extracted from the artificial language, which can lead to
insights regarding the learning mechanisms underlying the earliest stages of language acquisition. ,
according to Saffran. During this infant period, the discovered elements in sounds and gestures in
language are beyond children s understanding if only just based on intelligence. They have shown
early inborn and involuntary assemblage of words and sounds, combining them into meanings
without previous acknowledgements. They simultaneously crack the linguistic codes and rules
surround them, integrating their capacities in learning process. Children have revealed excellent
ability in solving linguistic puzzles, always surpassing other animal species in the mastery of
communication in which, highly champions the theory of innateness in human language acquisition.
Focusing on the later stages of language developments ,Chomsky suggested that children use
language rules and generalisations from the very moment they begin to speak; there are numerous
examples drawn from the observations in which children acquires language intuitively without any
pre existing knowledge. Psychologist and

The Basic Political Writings Written By Jean Jacques Rousseau
In the book The Basic Political Writings written by Jean Jacques Rousseau, Rousseau in the
beginning of the book states a very important question that he hopes to answer in parts
throughout the book, the question being: What is the origin of inequality among men, and is it
authorized by the natural law? Rousseau takes a different approach than all the other
philosophers on trying to figure out the origin of man and their so called inequality. Rousseau s
point of view on the state of nature differs from other philosophers such as Locke and Hobbes.
How do you find the origin of man? Where can the origin of civil society be traced back too? How
are men perceived in the state of nature? Does inequality exist in the state of nature? In what...

Man being in the state of nature causes tyranny and in the end does cause some inequality
among men, whether or not it changes the moral code of society is the bigger question.
Although Rousseau does not believe that inequality exists in the state of nature he wrote a
whole essay answering the question of where does man originate from and is he equal in the
state of nature? Rousseau sees the first step of exiting the state of nature and getting closer to
origin of tyranny is when man decides to leave the lifestyle of being alone and always wandering
to settling down and making a house and trying to provide for his basic needs and the ones that
are not as necessary as: nourishment, rest, shelter and self preservation. This is the stage where
you see the element playing a part in man s life and in the way civil society came to be. Man is
no longer just worried about himself he has to provide not only for himself but for his entire
family which he is searching for. Natural man or savage man lives within himself whereas
Rousseau argues that civil man lives in the judgement of others. This is one of the big reasons has
to how inequality fomed. All the inequalities Rousseau does take about or basically economic
things that happen in nature. This type of economic ineuality is among the many other inequalities
but is one of many that inequality originated from. If man had stayed restricted to working by
themselves they would have remained free, healthy, good and happy as

The Book Of Haggah By Zechariah
The author of the book is Zechariah, he whom the lord remembers. The book was written to the
Jews in Jerusalem that had returned from their captivity in Babylon. The book was written in
and around 520 B.C. The major theme of the book, is rebuilding the Temple, only the first step.
When we read Zechariah, it is almost like reading Haggai all over again. The messages are very
similar and they are written around the same time. There was said to be a year between the two
and their message of encouragement. The biggest difference of the two writings is that in
Zechariah s account, words like Messiah and Kingdom appear. There is more prophecy in
Zechariah s account than there was in Haggai. There is nothing negative about this; I liken it unto...

Like Israel, we too loose focus a lot, in our day to day lives. There are so many distractions; I
truly believe that we have more than they had in their day. Regardless, the focus should be on
the mission I like to call it, our fathers business. Zechariah, experience many visions as we read
this great book it puts us in the mind set of an Revelation or Daniel. It s hard not to get caught up
in the apocalyptic style of writing. The writer sucks you in to this almost dream world before
you have to pull back and reexamine were you were and the real message that he s conveying. To
keep it simple his message was about encouraging the people to finish what they had started.
Rebuilding the temple, throwing in the golden nuggets about the Messiah would come. After the
temple was completed, Zechariah gave several prophecies about Israel s future. It vividly
describes the first and second coming of our lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This book contains more
about the person, work, and glory of Christ than any other minor prophets combined. Israel s king
would come, but his people would reject him. They would later repent and be restored to God.
The king is going to come again for the Judgment, we pray that when he comes again that we have
been faithful and he will find us pure in his sight. The building of the temple is important here. Our
bodies are our temple and we must continue to work on them until Christ comes again to claim us,
the Church the people of

Russian Vladimir Putin Addressed The World Concerning The...
March 18, 2014, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the world regarding the annexation
of Crimea. A referendum that took place only days before resulted in an 82% turnout rate, with
over 90% of the ballots casting in favor of Crimea s reunification with Russia ( History: What does
Crimea, 2014). Many questioned the reasoning behind Russias sudden need to reestablish its hold
on Crimea; legally a Ukrainian territory. The Russian Ukrainian relationship dates back to the ninth
to the mid thirteenth century in the Eastern Slavic state of Kievan Rus; an area that expanded from
the Baltic to the Black Sea (Bates, 2014). The two countries have been linked to each other for
centuries; they share a similar culture and sense of nationalism... Show more content on

By losing Ukraine to its independence, Russia lost thousands of armed forces and military
equipment; this coupled with the effect the separation had on Russia s trade agreements with
Europe meant that Russia was left weak, and economically unstable. It was one of the biggest
partitioned nations in the world. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in December of 1991,
Russia was left in a fragile state, especially after getting accustomed to being treated as a world
superpower; its sphere of influence significantly declined. Russians see this as a time of economic
and political instability leaving them vulnerable to the West (Larrabee, 2010), one of its biggest
reservations being the potential for a Western stronghold along its international border. Because of
its weakened state, much of Russia s distress towards Western policies was noticeably dismissed.
Despite having unwaveringly opposed NATO s expansion to include previously Russian territories
such as Ukraine and Georgia (Mearsheimer, 2014), in the mid 1990s, the Clinton administration
openly disregarded Russia s concerns by pushing for NATO s expansion towards previous
members of the Soviet Union. By 2004, Latvia, Romania, Estonia, Poland, Hungary and many
more were admitted to NATO (Mearsheimer, 2014). This raised numerous concerns in Moscow as
Putin had made it clear that Russia would not tolerate NATO s enlargement into Russia s most

How To Write An Essay On The Nuremberg Trials
Nuremberg Trials Final Draft
J.E.B. Spredemann once said, Choices made, whether bad or good, follow you forever and affect
everyone in their path one way or another. This is especially true for the war criminals that were
involved in the Holocaust. The Nuremberg Trials were a series of trials that consisted mostly of
criminals that led Nazi Germany during World War II with a goal to punish them for the crimes they
had committed. The trials are named after the place at which they were held: Nuremberg, Germany
.(Writers at United States Holocaust Memorial Museum) This was the place chosen for this due
to the Nazi roots that led to this place. They were held within the years of 1945 to 1949.(Writers
at World Encyclopedia) The first parts of the trials was specifically reserved for only twenty four
Axis nation criminals.(The History Learning Site) These are the most famous parts of the trials
because it judged the people that were behind the mass murder known as the Holocaust. The
Nuremberg trials consisted of thirteen different trials. (Writers at History) There were a total of
eight judges that decided the verdicts of the criminals. (New World Encyclopedia Contributors)

  • 2. A Research On Educational Vision Educational Vision Since the age of five, I have wanted to become an educator. Coming from a household where my mother worked for the Board of Education created a desire in me to want to make a difference at that early age. As the director of youth and adult programs, I have seen the challenges that educational facilities and non profits are faced with. At times, it was very difficult to execute successful and meaningful programs due to the lack of funding options. I have also seen how it effects students first hand when classes or programs are dropped or no longer funded. My professional and personal desires have prompted me to want to become an effective leader and administrator in education, which will allow me to develop strategies in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As an educational leader, it will provide opportunities to help design educational studies that reflect the very best of basic learning with 21st century preparedness for current and future job opportunities and careers. There have been too many instances where students do not have a chance to flourish by using their full potential because of budget cuts and various administrative decisions that in the long run can affect them negatively. As a leader in education, I believe I can make a difference by establishing universal administration and academic policies that will make resources available and allocated. The policies will garner enough support to improve the educational experience. This process will ensure that students will accomplish their goals and in turn develop them into successful future leaders. My vision is to be forward thinking by having an anticipation of barriers. However, allocating backup plans will allow for resources to be plentiful in turn will support the educational needs of the student. My vision will also include a framework that will promote the demands and essentials of the student. Leadership that is exemplary understands and knows the importance of expression of values and beliefs. This type of leadership has a voice that expresses principles that guide decisions and actions. People had concerns that pro basketball shouldn t be played in the Olympics. Originally amateurs against other college teams played basketballs in the Olympics. FIBA allowed professional to play in the Olympics outside the U.S. America was unsure for professionals to play. The Olympic team lost in the Seoul games in1998 and brought home the bronze medal. The NBA wanted to win the Gold medal. It was a priority for the NBA and the United States. The best players would be put together to come home with the Gold medal. As a result, I have never fit into a particular group of people. I had not realized this until college because I had always gone to small schools throughout my academic career. From elementary school to high school, I never belonged to a particular group; instead, I associated marginally with all of them due to the small class size. I had created a superficial sense of belonging with a large amount of acquaintances; however, college s different environment exposed this superficiality immediately. I go to a large public university which boasts over thirty six thousand individuals. From my personal observation, it seems that individuals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Impact of Race in Othello Essay Impact of Race in Othello One of the major issues in Shakespeare s Othello is the impact of the race of the main character, Othello. His skin color is non white, usually portrayed as African although some productions portray him as an Arabian. Othello is referred to by his name only seventeen times in the play. He is referred to as The Moor fifty eight times. Webster s Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913) states that a Moor is Any individual of the swarthy races of Africa or Asia which have adopted the Mohammedan religion. In Spanish history the terms Moo, Saracens, and Arabs are synonymous. This indicates that Othello is constantly being degraded and set up as an evil person throughout the play. What this really means is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Shakespeare occasionally used the word to mean brunette or just dark complected1. Roderigo s comment that he has thick lips indicates that he is of African descent, though (1.1.67). Using the modern understanding of these references, Othello would most likely be portrayed as an African on modern stage or film. Othello himself was a slave before he was an important military official (1.3.137). However, he wasn t sold into slavery as most African slaves were. He was captured by the enemy and forced into slavery as a prisoner of war. Hence, the slavery of the play and of the time is viewed as a financial or military misfortune rather than a racial inferiority which would be commonly accepted for several hundred years after the play was written. Black and slave were not interchangeable terms at the time as it was during America s early history. European slaves were commonly Tartar, Greek, Armenian, Russian, Bulgarian, Turkish, Circassian, Slavonic, Cretan, Arab, or African. As if to distance the issue of slavery even further, it was often portrayed as happening long ago or far away on the English Renaissance stage2. As Shakespeare wrote the play, feudalism was eroding, but it was still strong in the minds of the audience. Slavery is very similar to feudalism in that they both involve the lower classes being subject to higher classes. Slavery had to be distanced from the English in order to not be threatening and to reassure them ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She also tries to manipulate Pip to enslave him emotionally like she molds her adopted daughter, Estella. (Houston,1992) Miss Havisham uses Estella as an instrument of revenge against Pip, with my praises, and with my jewels and with my teachings, and with this figure of myself always before her a warning and point my lessons, I stole her heart away and put ice in its place. (p.434) Being heartless and cruel, Estella will draw men as a candle attracts moths, and she will treat them as Compeyson treated Miss Havisham. For Joseph Miller, Miss Havisham had deluded herself into thinking she is only letting her state of abandonment be a punishment. Through Estella, she will take an indirect, guiltless revenge and break a hundred hearts for her own heart that was broken. (1958,p.258) She is willing to enjoy the power of the oppressor without feeling guilty that she is the direct cause behind Estella s cruel behavior to her suitors, where she feels that men are her natural enemies. Test Crt Should Be Used Rather Than Norm Referenced Tests Criterion Referenced Tests CRT Should Be Used Rather Than Norm Referenced Tests NRT The assessment looks at the wide variety of methods that educators use to evaluate and determined the achievement of the student s educational need. The focus of this essay is to look at the Criterion Referenced Tests (CRT) and the Norm Referenced Tests (NRT) usage to see why the Criterion Referenced Tests should be used rather than the Norm Referenced Tests. The learningstandards and the curriculum will be discussed to help determine why the CRT should be used rather than the NRT. Also, we will take a look at the principal use of how the two methods differ by one using survey testing and the other mastery testing. I will give my informed opinion throughout the essay. The Criterion Referenced Tests measure the performance against a fix set of predetermined learning standards. This means that there will be written descriptions of what students are expected to know and are able to do in each learning outcome unit stage in the course. This method of assessment is done to evaluate what skills the student has learned. The learning standards will measure how well a student has mastered the specific skill described in the national learning standards (Waugh Gronlund, 2013). Since the teachers and the schools can develop their own learning standards, this will help the students to be able to accomplish the learning objective performance outcome expected in my opinion. • 8. The Criticism Of Spinoza There have been numerous criticisms on Spinoza as well as plentiful interpretations. A common label of Spinoza s philosophy is pantheism a doctrine defined by Merriam Webster as equating God with the forces and laws of the universe. This is understandable for on the surface, one may interpret Spinoza s Godas an equation with the forces and the laws of the universe inasmuch as God is Deus sive natura where natura is natura naturans. But a more accurate label had emerged: panentheism. Panentheism, unlike pantheism, maintains a distinction between the divine and non divine and the significance of both. In pantheism, there is no distinction between the divine and the universe they are equal while in panentheism, the divine and the universe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sub categories for these then will be as follows. For theism, there are numerous sub categories: polytheism, pantheism, monotheism, and finite godism . There are possibly more than these but these are the most dominant. In all these beliefs, there is the existence of a God. It may refer to the existence of only one God (like that of monotheism and pantheism) or many (like that of polytheism and finite godism) simply put, there is a common denominator in these beliefs and this is the existence of God. For atheism, there are still sub categories but these sub categories may be better referred to as classifications or degrees. In a lecture delivered by Alfredo P. Co before the Graduate School of the Divine Word Seminary, three classifications of atheism were given: philosophical, moral, and philosophical moral. • 11. Theodore Roosevelt And The Progressive Era Upon the arrival of the Progressive Era, America shared several common characteristics of the industrialized countries: drastically increased population, overcrowded cities, poor working conditions, and significant economic disparity. Three presidents Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, and Woodrow Wilson during the Progressive Era made essential domestic reforms and launched new foreign policies in order to construct America into a more prosperous country and a leading power around the globe. A driving force in the Progressive Era, Theodore Roosevelt believed that the government had the right to regulate big business and that the government should use its resources to help achieve economic and social justice. In his first term, he launched the Square Deal, which focused on the control of corporations, the consumer protection, and the conservation of natural resources. In order to achieve his goal of controlling the large corporations and railroad companies, Congress, under Roosevelt s urge, created the Department of Commerce and Labor to monitor corporations, help dissolve monopolies, and promote fair competition between companies. At the same year, Roosevelt initialized the Elkins Act of 1903 to end the practice of railroad granting shipping rebates to certain companies, and three years later, Theodore s administration issued the Hepburn Act, which gave the Interstate Commerce Commission the power to regulate shipping rates on railroads. • 12. Causes Of Eyewitness Testimony Intellectuals and experts alike share a common belief that the most significant cause of unjust convictions is due to inaccurate eyewitness testimonies. Scepticism of the validity of eye witness testimonies has increased dramatically; scientific credibility of forensic evidence has weakened its reliability. Thus, resulting in this being the dominant root of false convictions (Coolican, 1996). In 2007, The Innocence Project stated that over 75% of unjust convictions contained eye witness testimonies (Innocence Project, 2007). Further studies have also had comparable results, for example Brandon Davies (1973). Is it feasible that an individual s memory is so imprecise that it is unreliable in producing faultless memory recall? Furthermore, if memory is so undependable why is it still frequently used in the criminal justice system today if the consequence is innocent people being incarcerated? Historically, eyewitness testimony has been frequently practised, and has played a consequential role in the conviction of criminals. Monumental amounts of unsolved crimes lacking sufficient evidence has meant that an eyewitness testimony could help secure a much needed verdict in an otherwise unsolvable crime. However, in this contemporary society, experts claim that many factors can be responsible for faulty eyewitness testimony. For example, post incident events, most specifically suggestive police strategy (Brace and Byford, 2012). Milgram s (1963) study into obedience highlighted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(2009) noted that the involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation systems have enhanced rapid diffusion, adoption, development of knowledge and technological output. Consequently, the active involvement of stakeholders in agricultural innovation system has been integral in enhancing sustainable growth in agriculture (Ojijo et al., 2013). Correspondingly, the collaboration of diverse heterogeneous stakeholders bring about active interaction, strong linkages and effective communication. (Ojijo et al., 2013). Also, it facilitates knowledge development among actors by helping them in identifying their challenges and opportunities by building coherence through dialogues in setting priorities (Klerkx et al., 2012b). Furthermore, the stakeholders participation allow actors to voice their needs and concerns in the process of design and implementation (Birner et al., 2009). Also, it brings the closeness of farmers to other actors, thereby facilitating large scale production and high marketability. Moreover, the stakeholders involvement in agricultural innovation system influence their decision and direction of production, market formation and resource mobilization (Anandajayasekeram, 2011). • 14. Compare And Contrast In Another Country And Ambush In both In Another Country by Ernest Hemingway and Ambush by Tim O Brien, there are aspects that are similar. To get a clear aspect of what both texts look at, Hemingway writes about a short story that is based on the impacts of World War I on soldiers. The short story mainly focuses on how these particular soldiers experienced the traumatic event of having to participate in the war which was both psychologically and physically harmful to them. In Ambush O Brien narrates from a first person perspective of his account when he was a soldier, the story is based on his last war story that aims at telling her daughter the truth when she gets older. O Brien s regret is from throwing the grenade and having to kill all those people he killed. The regret is from killing the soldiers and all he wished for was that the soldiers had just walked away past him, that way he wouldn t have had to throw the grenade. In developing the theme, O Brien uses visions to show the regret and also to contemplate on what would have happened if things were to happen differently. The two stories were both similar in their story line which was about war. However, the main themes in both stories differ. • 15. Aquinas Cosmological Argument Aquinas was a Catholic priest who tried to prove the existence of God using his five cosmological arguments. I disagree with the validity of these arguments. The arguments presented by Aquinas are questionable and most certainly do not prove the existence of the Christian God. Aquinas states that God s existencecan be proved in five ways. The first way he tries to prove God is proof by motion. He states that motion is a reduction of something from potentiality to actuality. It is impossible for something to be in potentiality and actuality at the same time. It is obvious that some things in the world are in motion. Whatever is moved is moved by something else, because nothing can be put into actuality without being first in potentiality, and something in potentiality can only be put into... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The arguments combined prove a being which is a prime mover, first cause, necessary being, root of all perfection, and intelligent being. The arguments, however, do not prove the Christian God as described by the Bible. First, the arguments do not prove that there is only one god. There could be several gods and Aquinas arguments do nothing to prove otherwise. Furthermore, a god could have all of these attributes yet never have done anything that was described in the Bible. For example, I can envision a god with all of these attributes who enjoys to eat cheese. I could even write a book about such a god and the different types of cheese he eats. And, based on Aquinas arguments, as my god has all the qualities described by Aquinas, my god is equally as likely to exist as the Christian God. There are infinitely many gods that can be envisioned which all have the attributes described by Aquinas. Even though we usually don t see such humongous vehicles on our roads, most people still associate 4x4 trucks with extra big tires. And indeed, making the right tire choice is a critical part in determining the fun and performance you can get from your truck. In making an educated tire choice for your specific truck, you have to bear in mind several considerations. But chief among all the considerations involved, you must remember the guiding principle that usage comes first. Don t be carried away by the looks of the tire. A low profile tire looks great from the side because of the aggressiveness character, but your ride quality will definitely suffer when riding over bumps, humps or the occasional pothole. Driving through rough terrains require you to have a high profile tire so that you have more sidewall height to have extra suspension and to cushion your rims from damage. If you dare to use low profile tires to go off road, I can certainly guarantee that your rims will be dented or spoilt. Then you ll want to consider if you will be doing serious mud bogging. If so, you will need special mud tires as these are specially designed for extra rough road conditions. The tire tread pattern is vastly different from conventional road tires. Not only are the spaces in the pattern made wider so as to help clear out the mud more efficiently, the tread pattern itself is designed to provide extra grip and traction to crawl through the sticky mud. Bending Moment Lab Report Applied mechanics laboratory report Measurement of bending moment and shear forces for structural analysis Azamat Omarov ID201102658 1.Theory and background 1.1 Summary That performed laboratory session on bending moments and shear forces requires good understanding and sufficient knowledge of axial forces. Bending is defined as a behavior of any structural element that undergoes the external load, which is applied perpendicularly to longitudinal axis. That experiment helps us to find the maximum load that can be applied to the beam with rectangular cross section. Moments are calculated by using statics theory, or multiplying perpendicularly directed load by the respective distance to the pivot point. 1.2 Objective The main objective... Moment was calculated in the same manner as in the previous example with only the difference in direction for positive moment. ∑MR1(left)= ∑MR1(right) ; R1*0.2 P2*0.34=(R2 P3)*0.24; The resultant bending moment was found to be maximum at the point where shear forces are minimal and thus equals to approximately +0.3856 N.m Regarding the moment about the cut, here our group was able to find the minimum difference between the measured and calculated values applying the same formulas and assumptions. The resultant moment was calculated to be 0.225N.m , which is approximately 3% difference and thus can be neglected. It is clear from the bending moment diagram that there is a point except ends where bending moment equals to zero. Such a point have a different of bending moment on its two sides (left and right) is known as a point of contra flexture. It can be easily found by using moment equation about that point and equate it to zero. Taking that reference point as X , we obtain: ∑MX(left)= ∑MX(right); 5.26*(X 0.14) = 1.962*X Thus the point of contra flexture for those specific loads equals 0.223m or 223mm from P1 Figure 7. • 22. A Report On A Government A government should always be open to criticism, be held accountable for their actions, and be honest when notifying the public of any events. This creates government transparency and allows its citizens to hold their leaders accountable for their actions. In order to create this transparency in today s society, a technical system must be set in place. This technical system needs to contain governmentdocuments which are easily accessible to the public. But, not all documents should be housed in this accessible database. Some government knowledge should be kept secret and inaccessible, because it could fall into the wrong hands. Documents containing economic information, such as budgets and spending should be readily available on a database for the public to access. Without a transparent government, citizens can become unruly and no longer trust their government due to the high volume of secrets or hidden documentation. Solution I My first solution to this issue is to open a cloud database which would house any documents containing government budgets, spending, and/or salaries. This database would be accessible to everyone with the means to access a cloud database. The database could be accessed via an application downloaded onto a computer or mobile phone. • 24. The Nightingale Quotes This quote is a flashback from an elderly Vianne, and it is the first line in the book. This quote foreshadows the effect that war has on many characters, and how such a horrible event can put everything under a microscope and show the courageous battles fought, and not just by the soldiers. War is an abhorrent event that has the ability to destroy everything. That is no different in the novel The Nightingaleby Kristin Hannah. The Nightingale is about two French sisters, Vianne and Isabelle Rossignol and tells their stories while living in a German occupied France. Right from the very beginning, it seems that the two sisters have completely opposite characteristics. When Vianne was 14 and Isabelle was 4 their mother died. This is obviously a very emotional time for the two and they both cope with the death of their mother in very different ways. Vianne is forced to take over the mother role which is courageous at any age, but at 14 it is simply gallant: You will be the mother now. Her father said to Vianne while her eyes were swollen from crying, her grief unbearable (7). Vianne did not even have the opportunity to cope with her mother s loss before she had to fill her mother s shoes, whose shoes were not easy to fill by any means. Isabelle on the other hand is a fiercely rebellious girl who refuses to listen to anyone. She is expelled from a dozen boarding schools throughout her teenage years, and she is unwilling to settle down and be the proper lady her father so desperately wishes her to be. At the beginning of the novel, both sisters appear to have distinctive differences in regard to their personality and values. In 1940, the war begins to intensify at a rapid rate, and it appears that when the war begins the rebellious side of Isabelle will end up costing her her life or someone around her. The difference in the two sisters is evident when Sophie questions why they have to relinquish their radio to the Germans, and Isabelle immediately decides to hide it , and Vianne reacts by telling Isabelle that they will do as we are told (99). This is a perfect example of different types of courage between the two sisters. Isabelle s courage is bold and impulsive as she never thinks about the consequences ... Psychological Research And Its Impact On Society Drawing on examples from chapters 3, 4 and 8 of Investigating Psychology, examine and assess the extent to which psychological research is of value to society. Psychological research describes investigations psychologists undertake in order to review and analyse a specific hypothesis, (a theory about the relationship between defined variables). Research allows theories to be confirmed, amended or rejected and often leads to further research as requirements evolve. Psychological research can take many forms, from laboratory based experiments to non invasive viewing of subjects in their own environment. This research can take place using human or non human subjects and the analysed results applied to human behaviour or experience within many disciplines including, education, legal or occupational. Psychological research may be undertaken on a subset of society; however the importance of the results may have an effect way beyond the group tested. The value of psychological research varies and the same results can be used in different ways by different groups of society. I will be looking at three areas of psychological research that affect the way we interact with and can be affected by technological advances. Odysseus, though promised immortality by a fair goddess, chose wisely after some inner conflict. He did not be base and undignified, but candid towards his inner conflict about what he felt on the inside. The Civil Rights movement, the emergence of feminism, and gay activism have literally revolutionized the society and how it functions, with many changes going to the promotion of equality and heightened awareness of the needs of others. At the same time, unfortunately, sexual criminality and violence remain critical issues, with women being the primary victims. The patriarchal foundation of the society has diminished, yet norms still providing men with entitlement remain in place, and this is a reality supported by modern research still referring to a rapeculture. This same research also presents disturbing evidence of how young college students widely maintain norms affirming male dominance and aggression. No simple solution is then possible, and any effective course must rely on as in depth research as may be conducted. To that end, the following assessment of study on the subject concludes with a research proposal, and one utilizing Structural Functionalism Theory and the innate value in interviewing students in both collective and individual ways. To what extent do mainstream sexuality norms impact sexual criminality? It is inescapable that elements within a culture or society, and even of the most violent kinds, are linked to how that society functions and how its norms influence behavior. In the U.S., women earn 79 cents for every dollar that a man makes, and the difference between men and women s median wages is $10,762 enough money to cover 14 months of average U.S. rent or over a year of full time infant care (in 2014). Instead of diminishing, this drastic gender wage gap augments over time; for women 15 24 years of age working full time and year round, the wage gap is about $4,373 per year, but by the time they are 45 64 years of age, they are making $15,404 less than men. In the workplace, as well as in other aspects of life, women s fight for equality is strong willed and never ending. Margaret Atwoodunderstood this need to fight for equality between men and women, and in her cautionary tale The Handmaid s Tale, she describes a society that forfeits the battle for women s equality and shows how everyone suffers accordingly. Using the descriptive principal, Atwood writes her cautionary tale from the first person narration of Offred, who meticulously chooses each scene with the intent of describing her new world and the lack of freedom it encompasses. The scene in which Offred meets the commander in his office alone for the first time is carefully written and furthers the plot with its probability and underlying themes of deception and corruption, which ultimately leads the readers to the emotional end of relief when Offred escapes this oppressive society. These are the cases with Diary of Anne Frank. and HItler youth. Lying is one way people deal with conflict. Why wouldn t it be. An example would be from the Diary of Anne Frank. The Diary is in the point of view of a young girl and her family hiding from the Nazis. She details her experiences in the annex as well as her thoughts and feelings of herself and others around her. Essentially, Anne and her family lie to the government and neighbors. There have even been many times when the Nazis have lied. Morrison also addresses the treatment of African Americans in current society dealing with racial discourse (311), in addition, to ignoring matters of race. I feel through literature, society and white writers show the African American experience or (black life) as valueless. Morrison also argues that society ignores issues of race by disguising the actual subject. She demonstrates this idea using a famous book within the canon, Huckleberry Finn . She says that, the critique of class and race is there, although disguised or enhanced through a combination of humor, adventure, and the naГЇve #8230; the novel masks itself in the comic, the parody and exaggeration of the tall tale (Morrison 320). Despite the serious subject matter within the book it simulates and describes the parasitical nature of white freedom (321). Morrison also claims that society reduces the importance of the African American experience by perpetuating negative stereotypes. She states that the ending of Huckleberry Finn has been labeled as a brilliant finesse that returns Tom Sawyer to the center stage where he should be (321). By replacing the black slave, Jim, with the white character of Tom at the end of the book, racial stereotypes are confirmed. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. The Impact Of Social Media And Its Impact On Society It is proven that social media has had a huge impact on the way we live our daily lives. Not only has it changed the way we go about our days, it has changed the way we communicate and interact with the ones we care the most about. Social media has positively and negatively impacted our relationships with others. The original intent of social network was to allow people to more readily stay connected with friends and family (Qualman, 286). Yet, how regularly do we judge how much social media has affected the way we interface with those that we are closest to? Social media has allowed us to connect with more people in various parts of the world that we wouldn t necessarily meet on a week to week basis. With the expansion in the number of contacts, we can observe that we have access to numerous more thoughts and assets. It is a lot easier to meet people that have the same traits as you, and it is shown when out of five couples meet online (Qualman, 274). Websites like E Harmony, Tinder, and Match.com make it easier for single people to find other s online and communicate before even meeting them. Social media has made it simpler to broaden your effective reach and grow it to incorporate individuals you d get the chance to meet, or might want to know better. Hence, there are needs a new technologies for desalination and wastewater treatments, to meet the requirement water demands with credible and affordable water sources. [Teoh and Chung, 2009] (1) Desalination is a process in which saline water is separated into two parts using different forms of energy. One that has a low con centration of dissolved salts (fresh water), and the other which has a much higher concentration of dissolved salts than the original feed water (brine concentrate).[ Shatat et al., 2013] 1.2 Water... • 44. Developing Fluency Requires A Balance And Connection... Developing fluency requires a balance and connection between conceptual understanding and computation proficiency. Computational methods that are over practiced without understanding are forgotten or remembered incorrectly. Understanding without fluency can inhibit the problem solving process. (NCTM, Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, 2000). Adding It Up (National Research Council, 2001), and influential research review on how children learn mathematics, identifies the following five strands of mathematical proficiency as indicators that someone understands (an can do) mathematics (Van de Walle, Lovin, Karp, Bay Williams, 2014, p. 2). The five strands the National Research Council (2001) identified are: Conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, strategic competence, adaptive reasoning, and productive disposition. These five strands are interdependent and interwoven, as the development of one strand aids the development of the other strands. Conceptual understanding is an important component of proficiency, along with factual knowledge and procedural competence. O Connell SanGiovanni (2013) noted there are no tricks in math and the understanding math makes it easier (p. 6). Setting up opportunities for students to discover rules or generalizations allows them to exercise reasoning skills as they are making sense of math concepts. From Bow wow Theory to Yo He Ho Theory, major theories on the origins and learnability of language have emerged in mid 20th century and heavily debated ever since. Among them, the idea of universal grammar in which is usually credited to linguist Noam Chomsky, remains the most notable and controversial theory over time. He introduced and developed the theory from 1950s to 1970s, as he proposed and championed linguistic nativism in language acquisition. Chomsky supports that language mastery involves knowledge of linguistic rules and conventions, which he later named that as cognizance . He believes that cognizance... The Basic Political Writings Written By Jean Jacques Rousseau In the book The Basic Political Writings written by Jean Jacques Rousseau, Rousseau in the beginning of the book states a very important question that he hopes to answer in parts throughout the book, the question being: What is the origin of inequality among men, and is it authorized by the natural law? Rousseau takes a different approach than all the other philosophers on trying to figure out the origin of man and their so called inequality. Rousseau s point of view on the state of nature differs from other philosophers such as Locke and Hobbes. How do you find the origin of man? Where can the origin of civil society be traced back too? How are men perceived in the state of nature? Does inequality exist in the state of nature? In what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Man being in the state of nature causes tyranny and in the end does cause some inequality among men, whether or not it changes the moral code of society is the bigger question. Although Rousseau does not believe that inequality exists in the state of nature he wrote a whole essay answering the question of where does man originate from and is he equal in the state of nature? Rousseau sees the first step of exiting the state of nature and getting closer to origin of tyranny is when man decides to leave the lifestyle of being alone and always wandering to settling down and making a house and trying to provide for his basic needs and the ones that are not as necessary as: nourishment, rest, shelter and self preservation. This is the stage where you see the element playing a part in man s life and in the way civil society came to be. Man is no longer just worried about himself he has to provide not only for himself but for his entire family which he is searching for. Natural man or savage man lives within himself whereas Rousseau argues that civil man lives in the judgement of others. This is one of the big reasons has to how inequality fomed. All the inequalities Rousseau does take about or basically economic things that happen in nature. This type of economic ineuality is among the many other inequalities but is one of many that inequality originated from. Russians see this as a time of economic and political instability leaving them vulnerable to the West (Larrabee, 2010), one of its biggest reservations being the potential for a Western stronghold along its international border.
