Essay My Favorite Food
Writing an essay about my favorite food might seem straightforward at first glance, but it's
actually quite challenging. The difficulty lies not in describing the flavors or textures of the dish,
but in capturing the essence of why it's my favorite.
Firstly, there's the task of conveying the sensory experience of the food in a way that truly does it
justice. It's not enough to simply list its ingredients or describe its appearance; I must find the
right words to evoke its aroma, taste, and even the emotions it elicits when I indulge in it.
Then comes the deeper exploration of why this particular food holds such significance for me. Is
it because of childhood memories associated with it? Or perhaps it represents a cultural
connection or a comforting ritual in my life. Unpacking these personal connections requires
introspection and careful reflection.
Furthermore, there's the challenge of making the essay engaging and meaningful to the reader
beyond just a list of personal preferences. I need to convey why my favorite food matters, not
just to me, but in a broader context that others can relate to or find interesting.
In essence, writing an essay about my favorite food demands more than just describing its taste;
it requires delving into personal experiences, emotions, and cultural contexts to truly capture its
significance. It's a task that requires careful thought and skillful expression to do justice to the
subject.

How Does The Global Population Increase In Urban Areas
Geographers are fundamentally concerned with how places differ, and why places
differ. Accessibility has a profound influence on the way that humans use land. The
city is perhaps one of the greatest human innovations and is a tool used to maximize
and facilitate accessibility. Cities are constructed deliberately as a means to facilitate
access between firms and people, bringing both as close as possible.
According to the United Nations, the world populations is expected to grow from
7.0 billion today to 9.3 billion in 2050, increasing by 2.3 billion (UNESA, 2012).
The United Nations also estimate that, global urban populations will grow from 3.6
billion in 2011 to 6.3 billion in 2050, gaining 2.6 billion (UNESA, 2012). Based on
these estimates, it is fair to assume that total global population growth will occur
predominantly in urban areas and that global urban population growth will account
for the total population increase as well as drawing in migration from the rural
population to urban areas. As a further consequence, the global rural populations is
expected to start decreasing in a decade s time and resulting in estimates of 0.3
billion fewer rural inhabitants in 2050 than there are today.
The process of urbanization first began in the more developed regions of the
contemporary world. Almost a century ago, 1920 saw below 30 per cent of the
developed world in living urban areas. Only decades later, over half of their populace
were residing in urban areas. Today, the

The City of Mounds View, located in the northwest corner of Ramsey County,
Minnesota, contains a residential population of over 12,000 and over 150 businesses.
The city is situated at the connection of Interstate 35W and State Hwy 10, and is
conveniently ten miles from Minneapolis and St. Paul. Mounds View is renowned
for its large, wooded residential lots and wide housing variations. The cityhas a total
area of 4.12 square miles, of which 4.03 square miles is land and 0.09 square miles is
water.
Mounds View got its name from the mounds or small hills that once existed, but
were removed during World War II when the land became used for an arsenal
location. The mounds were mostly littering the northwest corner of the township,
and were tall enough to be seen from almost anywhere in the area. The Township of
Mounds View was established the same day that Minnesota became a state, 1858.
With a substantial population, and neighbored by Blaine, Arden Hills, New
Brighton, and Spring Lake Park, Mounds View is fully established. This city is a
great location in which to live, as it is large enough to offer everyday amenities, but
small enough to contain calm residential neighborhoods. ... Show more content on

The Epic Of The Ramayana
The Ramayana The story Ramayan is the oldest version, is the basis of all the

The Bible and The Koran
A Comparative Analysis Christianity and Islam have several similar aspects. Both
religions praise the same God, although they each have a different given name.
Muslims refer to their god as Allah, and Christians simply refer to their god as God.
Both religions are monotheistic, and both even have a set of religious laws that all
who are righteous abide by. Muslims follow the Five Pillars of Islam, while Christians
follow the Ten Commandments. Both religions even have their own religious texts:
The Bible and The Koran. Christian missionaries declare that The Bible consists of
true narratives based on actual revelations, and establish that the ... Show more

Contrary to The Koran, although he was a man who walked with God, Noah was
not a prophet. In The Koran, Noah s sons were unbelievers, but The Bible
portrayed them differently. In fact, all three of Noah s sons entered the ark along
with their wives. It was they, along with Noah and his wife, who Christians claim
replenished the earth after the flood. It is hard to believe that only eight people
could replenish the entire earth. Another distinct difference between the stories of
Noah in The Bible in and in The Koran is that the Bible speaks of the mixing of
races that took place between the sons of God, and the daughters of man. This was
supposedly a very important factor that led to the flood. The Koran, on the other
hand, never mentions anything about race mixing, and according to the creator of
The Bile of The Koran, Savasan Yurtsever, there was no
Culver 4 race mixing at all. In fact, the only reason the flood took place was to
punish those who ignored Noah s prophecy.
Lastly, Noah s curse is explained in complete detail in the Bile. The Koran,
however, says nothing about any such curse. It is also a claim in The Bible that the
Mountains of Ararat as the resting site of Noah s ark. Conversely, Al Judi is where
Noah s ark can be found according to The Koran. In short, the Prophet Noah was
given commandments by God just as the Prophet Muhammad was after him.
Christians argue that the reason for similarities between the two stories is because
Essay on Internet Taxation
Internet Taxation
The advent and expansion of the Internet have brought the issue of the application of
state and local sales taxation to Internet, telephone, catalog, and other remote sales to
the forefront of the policy debate. Under current law, states cannot require
corporations without a substantial presence within their borders to collect and remit
sales taxes. While all states do require residents to remit the taxes owed in the form
of use tax payments, few people send in use tax forms, rendering remote sales
essentially tax free. The revenue loss due to the lack of taxation on Internet sales has
been minimal thus far; however, states are concerned that the growth of the Internet
will lead to a substantial drain on revenue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Note that the high court s decision was in 1992, a full two years before the
commercial Web existed. The states argue that it is legally easier for them to go
after the Web sites. And therein lies the implicit threat and the only stick the states
hold: They are making a not so subtle threat to start suing e commerce sites unless
they start collecting state sales tax. The SSUTA group set Oct. 1 as a target date
for states to start enforcement. The legal standing that the states would have to
force e commerce sites to comply is weak at best, but it s the classic lawsuit threat:
We may lose, but you ll be forced to spend tons of money for lawyers and appearing
in courtrooms and giving depositions. And, heck, there s always a chance that we ll

Argument Against Internet Sales Taxes
Remote Sales and Taxation Issue
In a series of opinions, the Supreme Court has ruled that states cannot compel firms
without a substantial nexus within the taxing state to collect and remit use taxes. The
most important cases are National Bellas Hess, Inc. v. Department of Revenue of Ill.
and Quill Corp. North Dakota. Substantial nexus has been interpreted to mean a
physical presence, and precludes states from requiring vendors whose only
connection to the state is by mail, phone, or Internet to remit taxes. In their 1992
decision in Quill, the court ruled that requiring out of state vendors to collect the use
Vodafone Case
the Vodafone Case We start of with making the calculations for the premium that
Vodafone is going to pay for Mannesmann. We know that Mannesmann will own
47.2% of the equity of the newly combined company. This is 47.2% from € 275
375 million, which is €129 997 million. Vodafone is offering 53.7 shares of the
value of December 17, so € 4,957, for every share of Mannesmann. Mannesmann
has 517,9 million shares, so Vodafone would pay 517,9 million * 53,7 * € 4,957
= € 137 860.3 million. This would be a premium of € 137 860.3 million €129
997 million = €7 863 million. This premium we are going to compare with some
possible different estimates for the synergy that will follow from the acquisition. (1a)

7.7%. A leverage of 5% (or D/V =1/20) and a given risk free rate of 5.5%. Also we
assume the cost of debt (rD) to be 7%. We find the return on equity (rD), by using the

Poverty is the Main Cause of Social Class Differences in Educational Achievement
This essay will assess the view that poverty is the main cause of social class
differences in educational achievement. There are many causes of these differences
which can be linked to cultural deprivation, and will be discussed in this essay.
Material deprivation is lack of money and things which money can buy, and is the
main cause of poverty. Item B suggests that that this is the main cause of social class
differences in educational achievement as it says that most truants come from poor
working class backgrounds and are less likely than their middle class counter parts to
obtain a good formal education. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Douglas 1964, claimed that middle class children received more attention and
encouragement from their parents which was the single most important factor
affecting their attainment whereas working class pupils received little encouragement
and lacked the motivation to succeed at school.
Also sugarman believed that the working class subculture was fatalistic, concerned
with immediate gratification and present time orientated. This meant that they
wanted to earn money straight away rather than sacrifice for the future. Middle
classes were however prepeared to sacrifice for the future they were future time
orientated and concerned with deferred gratification. However a criticism of
immediate gratification in this case is that the students aren t usually sacrificing as
the first year of uni is enjoyable.
In addition to this Basil Bernsteins research shows that schools can contribute to
social class differences in educational achievement and his research did not support
the view that poverty is the main cause. He claimed that there were two forms of
speech patterns restricted code and elaborated code. The restricted code was a kind
of shorthand speech which was used by working class children and the elaborated
code spelled out meanings and details. Middle class children are socialised in both
forms of speech teachers use the elaborated code
Solution Of A Weak Acid And Sodium Hydroxide Solution
Objectives:
To conduct a reaction between solutions of a weak acid and sodium hydroxide.
Determine the half way point of titration of an acid base reaction.
To calculate the pKa and the Ka for the weak acid.
To calculate Molar Mass of a weak acid from the titration results.
To determine the identity of a weak acid.
Introduction: The purpose of this experiment is to identify an unknown weak acid by
titration with a standard sodium hydroxide solution.
The pH of the titration solution will be monitored using a pH meter. The resulting
titration curve will then be used to determine the equivalent molecular weight and
dissociation constant (Ka ) of the unknown weak acid. These values will then let you
determine the identity of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the halfway point of each titration, the concentration of acid remaining in the
solution is equal to half of its initial concentration.
At the halfway point of the Titration 1 the concentration of H2X is

Taking the negative log of this yields: pH = pKa
From the titration curve, we can determine the pH at the halfway point of the titration
and thus determine the pKa of the acid. From pKa = пЂLog Ka we can determine
the Ka of the acid. Since this is a diprotic acid, this corresponds to Ka1. This
information can be used to help identify the acid because pKa and Ka values for a
large number of mono and polyprotic acids are known.

Methods Of Birth Control
Birth control is a way for men and women to prevent pregnancy. There are many
different methods of birth control, including hormonal contraception such as the birth
control pill.
Women take the pill by mouth to prevent pregnancy, and, when taken correctly, it is
up to 99.9% effective. However, the pill does not protect against sexually transmitted
diseases, including HIV (the virus that causes AIDS). The latex male condom
provides the best protection from most STDs. Other types of combined estrogen and
progestin hormonal contraception include the patch and the vaginal ring.

School Counselors job isn t to teach students moral rules and values or to prevent
students from making their own choices based on their values. Admittedly, it can be
a fine line to walk between not imposing our values yet helping students develop
social skills and self understanding that will enhance their efforts to become
successful adults. In the leadership role it s not up to the counselor to fix all
problems. All through the years the role the school counselors play in using
information uniquely available to them to examine and change current policy and
practice. Whether it be course taking patterns, student placements, or student success
and failure rates, school counselors are poised to be key change agents within the
school. That is a big job that I feel school counselors don t get credit for enough.
Many times, school counselors are told what to do by administrators who fail to
understand the contribution the school counselor can make to the school. If anything
that I feel I disagree is that credit that the counselors don t get. Some of the duties that
have historically been assigned to the school counselor are data entry; clerical record
keeping; registration and scheduling of all new students; coordinating or
administering cognitive, aptitude and achievement tests; responsibility for signing
excuses for students who are tardy or absent; performing disciplinary actions; sending

Why I Choose French Language Course Essay
If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk
to him in his own language, that goes to his heart, Nelson Mandela once declared.

million, which is 8.3% of the world population are second language speakers

European countries. In France, cutlery is used in the continental manner, this mean
the fork in the left hand, prongs facing down and the knife in the right hand. French
etiquette prohibits the placing of hands below the table and the placing of elbows on
it. Those are some French food culture that I think we should learn from them.
Other fact that I have learned about French culture is they almost have a similar

its respect of religious freedom, there are no issue of racism and religious doctrine.

Representation Of Violence In The Media
Media provides a false representation of what relationships are supposed to be, as
well as look like. Violence, as female degradation and male empowerment in the
media are leading factors to relationship violence. Canada has traditionally been a
patriarchal society. Today, men believe that they have more power over the women,
leading to violence. Videogames are linked to poor relationships among family and
friends, which is a factor to relationship violence. Television, movies, and magazines
are also failing victims of relationship violence by portraying that violence is
acceptable. Lastly, the social media provides a platform for domestic violence.
Firstly, video games are linked to poor relationships with family and friends. A new

Fashion magazines use sexual violence with alarming, frequency, depicting sprawled
dead eyed models. One advertisement from Doice and Gobonna, showed a shirtless
man pushing a woman to the ground, while four men stood around observing what
was going on around them. The media tends to portray domestic violence cases as
individualized or isolated, rather than a thematic and contextually societal issue.
Melissa McEwan, Feminist (2016) found, Rape culture is encouraging male sexual
aggression. It is regarding violence as sexy aswell as sexuality as violent. Rape
culture is treating rape as a compliment, as the unbridled passion stirred in a
healthy man by a beautiful woman, making irresistible urge to open her bodice or
slam her against a wall. This point proves how advertisements are encouraging
male empowerment. Males believe that they have more power over the females,
causing them to be looked down upon. The four men stood and watched the women
fall to the ground, making it appear as a normal act. They did not feel the need to
have to help the fragile women. Television also abuses the issue of relationship
violence. Throughout television shows such as; Criminal Minds and Law Order the
women characters are systematically introduced only to be bound, gagged, leashed,
collared, trashed, chained, raped, and murdered for entertainment. The women are
degraded and appear to be vulnerable. McEwan, Feminist (2016) also found, .. or any
one of a million other images fight sexual maturities in movies and television shows
and on the covers of romance novels that convey violent urge and inextricably linked
with sexuality. This demonstrates how multiple movies and television shows are
linked with the sexual behaviour of others. According to Lakeman (2010), There are a
lot of things in the culture that promote rape. This indicates that

Police Power
Abstract
Controversial issues associated with police power are at the very front of current
public debate. In the current crime control environment, law enforcement officers
enjoy a privileged status, and the legitimacy of policing has recently been questioned
because of several highly publicized incidents involving police violence. The
justification of the police actions and accurate portrayal of occurrences where
(sometimes lethal) bodily damage is caused is of utmost importance to the society
as a whole as balance needs to be achieved between the legitimate use of power and
its abuse.
It will be argued that the objective reasonableness standard developed by the legal
practitioners is a viable means of maintaining the balance between the ... Show more

The widespread violent reaction of the public could have been avoided had there
been a clear rationale behind the officers actions been not only adhered to, but also
communicated by the media. Instead of trying to insulate the public from some facts
they may have difficulty in digesting, it is vital to take the time and effort to disclose
all the facts backed with an adequate commentary of the events.
While acknowledging that there are justly documented instances of police brutality,
such as the killing of Michael Brown (Onyemaobim, 2016), which also must be
portrayed fairly in order to avoid the police misusing the power granted to them, the
main conclusion is that ensuring ethical use of the police force and presenting the
facts to the public correctly is the matter of prime importance on a national level and
the matter of journalist ethics as
Kristeva s Powers Of Horror Essay
Bell Hook s Marginality as a Site of Resistance, is an engaging and powerful
comment on the solicitude for all those colonised on the perimeter of society. That
one must embrace this position and identify as, but not be defined as the
marginalised. Hooks argues in her essay, that succumbing solely to the identity of the
oppressed be it race, genderor class, stifles one individualism and creativity. This
space that is the margin, that is a site of creativity and power, that inclusive space
where we recover ourselves. (Hooks, 1990, p.343) To instead use this site of

Kristeva is attempting to explore the different ways in which abjection works within
human societies as means of separating out the human and non human. (Creed, 1993,
p.8) It will focus on Kristeva s theory of the abject and the construction of the human
subject in relation to the border, the mother child relationship and the feminine body.
It will also explore how the representation of woman as abject is almost always in
relation to her mothering and reproductive functions. The representation of women in
relation to Freud s castration and the religious abject as discussed in Powers of
Horror will also be examined. This chapter will also include a discussion on Kristeva
s abject through Barbara Creed s The Monstrous Feminine. All human societies have a
conception of the monstrous feminine, of what it is about women that is shocking.
(Creed, 1993, p.1) Creed gives an interesting insight to Kristeva s abject and Freud s
theory on castration in horror films. By looking at the construction of female
monsters and what it is about them that is monstrous, in particular the archaic

should have worked with Harriette to make realistic expectation of the therapeutic
sessions. A realistic expectation of the therapeutic sessions is right considering that
clients from disenfranchised backgrounds may be at a heightened vulnerability to
therapist exploitation due to increased power differentials (Capawana and Walla,
2016, para. abstract). Thus, he should have been a therapist who knows the
boundaries between client and counselor; he should have considered the risk. There
are many risks in engaging in sexual encounters with a client. For example, she is
thinking of consulting with a lawyer because she feels that her therapist abused his
power. According to Capawana and Walla (2016), Professionals who engage in this
behavior are subject to ethical complaints, malpractice suits, and licensing board
hearings (para. 3). He will soon be faced with ethical complaints, malpractice suits,
and licensing board hearings (Capawana and Walla, 2016, para. 3). To comply with
ethical standards, he should have remembered two things: his training on how to
assess his sexual attraction to Harriett and the legal precedents such as the Hippocratic
Michelangelo Contributions
Michelangelo was born in Caprese, region of Florence Italy on March 6, 1475,
was born to a family that had for several generations belonged to minor nobility in
Florence but had, by the time the artist was born, lost its patrimony and status. His
father was an official with a well off position in the city and his mother died when he
was 6 years old.
Son of the Florentine arts, this magnificent sculptor, painter and architect, of the
Italian Renaissance manifested his artistic talent since very early on, being the art of
the sculpture where he begins to emerge.
Having to overcome the opposition of his family, at the age of 13 a family friend
took him to the workshop of the painter Domenico Ghirlandaio, particularly known
for his murals, where he entered in April of 1488, as an apprentice for a three year
term. He remained there for only a year, after which, under the tutelage of Bertoldo di
Giovanni, he began to frequent the Medici Garden of San Marco, and his talent drew
the attention of Florence s leading citizen and art patron, Lorenzo de Medici, who
enjoyed the intellectual stimulation of being surrounded by the city s most literate,
poetic and talented men. De Medici extended an invitation to Michelangelo to reside
in his palatial home of Via Larga, where Buonarotti meet Poliziano and other
humanists of the Medicean circle, where he got in touch with the idealist theories of
Plato, which become in one of the fundamental pillars of his life, and later on there
were reflected in his artistic work as a poet. From this youthful phase, the art of
Michelangelo presented original features that went beyond the simple imitation of the
old. His figures showed an intense strength, and appeared as if seized by an internal
tension. The obsession with the representation of the human body was a constant in
his career. This interest in the human figure, and more specifically in men, has been
explained through the homosexuality of the artist, since his relationship with the
young patrician Tommaso dei Cavalieri is documented during his years of maturity.
Between 1490 and 1492, Michelangelo made his first drawings, studies on the
Gothic frescoes of Massacio and Giotto and the first reliefs, the Virgin della Scala
Theme Of Sin And Redemption In The Kite Runner
In Khaled Hosseini s Kite Runner, Amir says I became what I am today at the age
of twelve... But it s wrong what they say about the past, I ve learned, about how
you can bury it. Because the past claws its way out. Looking back now I realise I
have been peeking into that deserted alley for the last twenty six years... It was my
past of unatoned sins . Sinis like an albatross around ones neck and atonement is the
only way to redeem oneself. This means that when one commits a sin, they are
burdened with guilt and the only way to get rid of this burden and attain peace and
redemption is to atone for one s sins. Same was the case with Amir, his past full of
unatoned sins kept haunting him even when he had tried to move on in life. And
finally after... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Amir from The Kite Runner had committed the sin of not standing up for a friend
and then lying about it. However, his past sins caught up to his present day
pretentious living. Similar was the case with Kunti, she never accepted Karna as her
son, however in the end repentance led her to acceptance. Dimmesdale, just like Amir
was a coward who did not stand up for those loyal to him and accept his sins.
However Dimmesdale lived a contrite and torturous life to punish himself. Briony and
Amir were both of tender age when they committed their sins but guilt took them on
the right path of atonement, so they could redeem
Young Offenders Into The Community
REINTEGRATING YOUNG OFFENDERS INTO THE COMMUNITY
Chapter 1
1.1 Introduction
This paper is a report of an analysis of the concept of working with young offenders
to prevent them from reoffending. The aim of this paper is to learn about the
experiences of individuals who have been released from prison into the community so
as to make contributions into developing relevant interventions based on the
difficulties/barriers faced by these individuals. To add to this, this paper will explore
whether every one of these offenders experiences are different or similar from
another. This paper aims to answer a number of questions, among them whether the
offenders ever have the thought that by reoffending or breaching their conditions they
would go back to prison. Whether they used drugs. Whether they had any children
and if they did whether they had contact with them if they see them when they are
released or when they last saw them and if they have not seen them the reason why.
Where do the offenders consider to get more support; Community or prison?
1.2 Progression of care through transition from prison into the community
On 9 May 2013, the government published Transforming Rehabilitation which is a
paper on A Strategy for Reform. The document set out the plans for changing how
management of offenders in the community to decrease reoffending rates are. The
document stated that for the first time offenders released from prison would be given
statutory supervision and rehabilitation in
The Use Of Secondary Steelmaking Techniques On The
Control...
Introduction
The use of secondary steelmaking techniques has made a major input to the
optimisation of inclusion population for the control of modern steel properties. The
development of new secondary steelmaking techniques was due to an increasing
demand for improved and consistent qualities of high grade steels for chemical,
petroleum, aerospace, and nuclear industries (Kiessling, 1989).( pg45). Secondary
steelmaking includes provision for temperature control, bath agitation, efficient slag
metal interaction and precise addition of alloying elements and reactants. With those
technologies of secondary steelmaking process the number, size, morphology, and
composition of inclusions can be controlled (Kiessling, 1989). (pg45).
The global demand for clean steel has increased in the last years due to the demand
for better performance. There is need to develop steel with fewer inclusions to
improve performance. Steel inclusions impede performance as they may act as
sources of crack growth and propagation. Some inclusions affect steel properties such
as fatigue, ductility and weldability. According to Riyahimalayeri et al. oxide
inclusions reduce the rolling contact fatigue life of steel products even when the total
oxygen content is below the 10 ppm (Riyahimalayeri, et al., 2013). Inclusions like
sulphur reduce steel toughness which hinders performance. It is imperative to
develop methods that are aimed at reducing steel inclusions for better performance.
Improved steel cleanness
Crime And Punishment Ap Psychology
Crime and Punishment Part III Essay Prompt Psychology stems from the Latin root
psyche and translates to the study of the mind. In the novel, Crime and Punishment,
the author Fyodor Dostoevsky, ventures into the psyche of his main character,
Raskolnikov. Raskolnikov suffers greatly in this novel both physically and mentally.
Dostoevsky depicts his mind through the utilization of various literary devices, clever
diction, and abrupt phrases and in turn, he is able to display the fractured mind of
Raskolnikov. The structure of the novelplays a key role in the depiction of
Raskolnikov s sanity. The author is able to create a climactic scene that alters the life
of Raskolnikov. He creates two major phases. During the beginning of the novel...

The author uses symbolism, entwined with specific language from Raskolnikov s
speech, to reflect the fractured state of mind of Raskolnikov. In the quote thought
by Raskolnikov, So I killed the principle, but I didn t step over, I stayed on this
side..., the phrase step over symbolize Raskolnikov s morality line internally. By
changing the idea of the woman into something abstract like a principle,
Raskolnikov is able to justify that the murder was a moral act since he did not
murder a person. He also often uses repetition to demand attention on specific
topics. In the provided prompt, ... it wasn t a human being I killed, it was a
principle! So I killed the principle, but I didn t step over, I stayed on this side... All
I managed to do was kill, the repetition of the word kill is evident. He uses this
word purposeful to direct the mind of his audience. It is used to symbolize how
Raskolnikov feels in regards to death. Dostoevsky repeatedly uses kill to
demonstrate that Raskolnikov does not care about the killing aspect of the murder.
Raskolnikov is fully aware that he killed the old woman and he is able to admit that
fact to himself. One may argue that Raskolnikov was concerned about the physical
kill of the woman, but that is not the case. In that prompt, Raskolnikov s main
attention is not on the killing. His main focus is on his justification. He never admits
that he was wrong for the murder, yet he admits that he killed

Conversion of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides
Title: Conversion of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides
Abstract: In this experiment the conversion of alcohols to alkyl halides are
investigated through reflux and simple distillation. These are common procedures
used to separate substances. After the reflux and distillation is complete 13C
NMR and IR spectrum is used to identify the product or products for each reaction:
1a, 1b, and 2. Every individual in the group was assigned either 1a (1 propanol) or
1b (2 pentanol), and 2 (1,4 dimethyl 3 pentanol). The purpose of this experiment was
to understand and become familiar with the reaction mechanisms and be able to
observe and compare the product or products for each of the reactions using 13C
NMR and IR. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To prevent the escape of organic vapors, the reaction mixture is cooled with an ice
bath before removing the condenser. The next technique used in this experiment was
simple distillation. This is a physical separation of the components of the mixture.
This technique is accomplished once the drip rate of the product into the collection
vessel diminishes considerably. After the reflux and distillation is complete 13C
NMR and IR is used to identify the product or products for each reaction. 13C NMR
is used to observe the carbon skeleton of an organic molecule. Analysis of this
spectrum allows certain stretches to be observed. An IR spectrum has energy
measured as frequency recorded on a horizontal axis and intensity of the absorption
on the vertical axis. Analysis of the IR allows us to differentiate between certain
characteristics and functional groups in organic chemistry.

Then there is their common way of self provision for their basic needs through
agriculture. Rice, potatoes, peanuts, fruits, eggs, cotton, corn, wheat, tomatoes,
tobacco, tea, sweet potatoes, and soybeans are the staples of agriculture, also to
include beef and dairy cattle, chicken, and hogs (Julia Furtaw and Carol Nagel, 2009).
The most common culture characteristic across China is their language, which is
Mandarin, also known as Putonghua. Mandarin is spoken in different ways in
different areas, yet it is Chinas official language and is now taught in all the schools.
China is the third largest country in the world and is located in eastern Asia. With a
land mass of 3,692,674 square miles, the extreme differences of Chinas climates and
terrain through its regions range from long and bitterly cold winters in Northern and
Western China, too mild to warm winters in central and southern China (World Book,
Inc., 2009). Eastern China and southern Manchuria summers are hot and humid,
while summer temperatures are extremely hot and dry in the northwestern deserts.
Winter temperatures average from 0 degrees F in Manchuria and Tibet through
January, and July temperatures average about 80 degrees F through much of China
but may reach over 100 degrees F in the northwestern deserts. Rainfall ranges from
light in the northern deserts to heavy in the southeast (World Book, Inc., 2015).
Chinas terrain is as diverse as its temperatures with the highest mountain
What Is Effective Altruism As A Philosophy And Social...
Peter Singer, author of The Most Good You Can Do, defines effective altruism as a
philosophy and social movement which applies evidence and reason to working
out the most effective ways to improve the world (Singer, 2015, p. 4 5). Given this
definition, who are effective altruists? They are individuals who wish to make
positive contributions to society by considering their course of action in an
objective manner. To make this clearer, Singer contrasts effective altruists from
warm glow givers (Singer, 2015, p. 5). Warm glow givers donate to charities to feel
good without truly understanding how their donations are utilized to help people.
Hence, these givers will offer their donations not to the most pressing causes, but to
causes that appeal to their heart. On the other hand, effective altruists do not
immediately act based on their emotions. Instead, they take a moment to step back
and critically analyze if a certain action will help as much people as they hope it
will. In short, they want to target the most urgent issues by maximizing whatever
resources they have for the benefit of a larger group of people. Since effective
altruism is a movement aimed at helping the most people, who are these people that
altruists hope to help? It is clear to me from this chapter that so far, the goal of
effective altruism is to uplift the poor. In this chapter, Singer states that money will
be utilized best if it is directed towards uplifting the needy in developing countries.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy Essay

John Fitzgerald Kennedy (Jack) was born in Brooklyn Massachusetts on May 29,
1917, to Joseph Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald, who were the children of Patrick
Kennedy and John Fitzgerald (Honey Fitz), whose parents both emigrated from
Ireland in 1858. Honey Fitz was governor of Boston and served on the House of
Representatives. Both men were influential in politics.
Joseph and Rose Kennedy had nine children: Joseph Jr., John, Rosemary, Kathleen,
Eunice, Patricia, Robert, Jean, and Edward (Teddy). They set up a million dollar
trust fund for each of their children for their education, so that they would never have
to worry. This let them devote their lives to public good. The parents divided supper

John wrote a collection of tributes to him. In 1948, Kathleen was also killed in a
plane crash. Joe s death affected John deeply, because he had wanted a career in
politics, but couldn t because his brother had chosen that field. When Joe died,
John decided to go into politics because it was his natural calling. He decided to
run for the 11th district Massachusetts House of Representatives seat. The district
was predominantly Democratic, and so was Kennedy, so he was sure to win. His
family came to his side to help him. He defeated eight other candidates. He was
reelected in 1938 and 1950. His back injury continued to bother him. He ran for
senate in 1952. His family gathered once again to help him. He won by a landslide.
He was one of a few Democrats to be elected. John helped pass many bills important
to his home state s textile industry.
In Washington, D.C., John met his future wife, Jacqueline Lee Bouvier. They were
married on September 12, 1953. Jackie was born on July 28, 1929, in Southampton,
Long Island, New York. She attended private schoolsin America and Paris. Caroline,

Essay on The Oresteia
The War of the Sexes in Eumenides
In this essay I will examine the war of the sexes taking place in The Eumenides, the
final play of The Oresteia. The plot of The Eumenides pits Orestes and Apollo
(representing the male gods and, to a certain extent, male values in general) against
the ghost of Clytemnestra and the Furies (equally representative of female values.)
Of more vital importance, however, is whether Athene sides with the males or
females throughout the play.
The character of Orestes is somewhat down played in The Eumenides and in fact his
role is far less significant than that of Apollo. Our first sight of Orestes sees him in a
contradictory stance at Delphi, Orestes holds a suppliant s branch in one hand, ...

Commanded him to avenge his father, what of it? (Aeschylus, The Eumenides,
Robert Fagles Trans., lines 200 201, Penguin Classics, 1977.) Throughout the play
the character of Apollo is used to draw attention to the physical discrepancies
between the male and the female with his references to light and darkness but more
importantly with the vital question of birth, I give you proof that all I say is true.
The father can father forth without a mother. Here she stands, our living witness.

The Furies provide the stark contrast to Apollo s character. He is the new god, he
stands for patriarchy, light and politically he is far more liberal. (Orestes) O God
of the light, Apollo, how will the verdict go? (Leader) O Night, dark mother, are

Francisco Goy Deaf Man s Villa
Between the years 1820 and 1823, Francisco Goya casted himself away from
society in his farm house outside of Madrid. In this house, also known as Deaf Man s
Villa, Goya painted what is now known as the Black Paintings. One painting stuck out
more than others due to its horrifying depiction of Saturn Devouring His Son. The
name of this paintingwas not given by Goya himself, but rather later after his death.
Goya painted the painting originally with no intent of showcasing it to the public.
The painting was no ordinary painting since it was painted on the walls of Goya s
estate. Today, the painting currently resides in the Museo del Prado in Madrid
where the target audience is anyone who would like to see the magnificently
horrifying piece of work for themselves. Goya s purpose for this painting was to
seek people s attention and stand out, leave a mark or message, and overall question
what that message. Goya is able to successfully fulfill his purpose by using high

Many wars have broken out during the time that Goya was alive. Goya was a
painter for many high class families and his works were generally joyful and bright

dark. He would start painting battles of war that displayed gruesome violence and
later called his series The Disasters of War (1810 1820). Toward the end of his
career, Goya had a sour and poor look on what was happening around him, which
drove him to isolation where he painted the Black
History of the Internet
Internet
The Internet is a child of the 1960s. 1969 was when the first network of computers,
ARPANET, communicated with one another. I took a full decade before the Internet
was developed. In 1984, domain names were introduced, bringing with them, the
familiar suffixes of com and org (Anonymous, 2013).
It didn t become widely used until the 1990s when two significant developments
arrived. In 1991, the World Wide Web(Web 1.0) was released, along with hyper
links, which made navigation easier than in previous years, and, in 1993, the first
Web browser, Mosaic, arrived, making for a graphical user experience. By the mid
1990s, an estimated 45 million people were using the Internet (Anonymous, 2013).
However, today s internet use isn t a side activity, it s quite the opposite. It s the
main. Everyone is now connect to the internet around the clock
While yesteryears websites were static, todays are quite dynamic. This vast medium
that is the internet allows users to engage with one another, shop online, bank online,
connect with friends/family/colleagues, create media, do business online, and this list
just keeps on going.
The internet affects the way we live our lives today.

Belief and Grumbling in Israel s Experience at Meribah and Jesus Statement of
Living Water Kye Courtright BIBL 5253 John Harrison March 24, 2015
Introduction Jesus claims in John 7:37 38 about living water are often deemed
important by readers, but the average reader does not see the importance of the
cultural backdrop of the Feast of Booths and the historical events of Israel at
Meribah coming to a climax at this moment. The water imagery of John 7 is
sourced in Old Testament narrative; Israel s experience at Meribah overflows into
Jesus encounter, and the story challenges readers with the age old choice between
grumbling and belief. Jesus claiming to be the source of living water and call for all

Jesus says in this passage that whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said,
streams of living water will flow from within him. Claiming this is vital to John s
narrative, the listener of Jesus and reader of the Gospel. The importance is
increased through the historical significance of the Feast of Booths. Water and
Feast of Booths Jesus statement of living water comes at an opportune moment.
John did not place this event unwittingly into the narrative of the story. The Feast
of Booths, according to Josephus, was the greatest and most holy of the Jewish
festivals. The celebration would have drawn large crowds; many would have been
gathered as each Jewish male was expected to make the pilgrimage to Jerusalem
for the celebration (CITATION). Jesus made his claims around the Temple; there
would have been plenty of festival goers around to listen and hear him. His
audience also would have understood the significance of his statements in relation
to the events occurring around them. The feast makes sense of Jesus use of water
imagery. A water libation ceremony was one of the most visual sacraments
performed at the feast. Each day, priests, along with a following of pilgrims, would
walk to the Pool of Siloam and fill a jar with its water. Walking back into the city
through the Water Gate, the priest would take the jar to the Temple where an

The Influence of American Industrialization on the Projects of Le Corbusier: the Ville
Contemporaine.
The end of the twentieth century was marked by the unprecedented scale of
construction, huge advances in science and technology: new advanced designs,
building materials, construction technology and strategies.1 Along with that,
architects have been disclosing the failure of the traditional aesthetic concepts in the
art of postmodern architecture, which were based on the assumption that politics
should no longer be connected with the disciplines of administration.2 Therefore, the
consequence of this failure was enormous number of debates occurred during that
time: whether to reject the modernity and to return to conservative values or to
embrace the imperatives of modern technology .3 In the quest for reshaping human
industry based on the highly effective systems of nature 4, the French architectural
leaders were looking at vitality of American development and, thus, the results of
World War II had virtually halted new construction in France .5 According to Bacon,
French building practices could no longer be satisfying in the age of industrialization:
in fact, this notion of industrialization would be a critical factor in reconstruction 6.
To keep up with this new period of extensive consumption and mass production based
society, French architects were not only against the anarchy and uncontrolled
experimentalism of the pre war avant garde 7, but also organized
The Lessons I Learned From Failure
The crowd around me had mixed emotions. Some people were excited they made
the All State Choir, however, some were devastated that they didn t make it. I was
devastated. I was so confident I was going to make it that I didn t consider what
would happen if I didn t make it. After the results were called, I silently cried on
my mom s shoulder thinking about the work I put into the audition process. Two
years later, I finally recognized the lessons that I learned from failure. Failure
taught me to not to be conceited, to consider every possibility, and whenever I am
knocked down I need to stand up stronger than I was before. My failure was
engendered by being conceited. Every day I regret it more and more. The year
before, my freshman year, I had made the All State Choir. Accomplishing that as a
freshman has been the greatest achievement I have ever had. However, the next
year I didn t practice like I did the year before. I slacked off on my competition
music, my solo, and my sight reading. Life as I knew it changed after that
competition. The world came crashing down on me, suffocating from the fluffy
dream I was living in. Confidence failed me for the rest of that year; I no longer
believed that I was the amazing singer I thought I was. However, the lack of
confidence boosted my urge to practice more; to prove that it was only a flaw of not
making the choir. As it turns out, failing to make the choir was a salient part in
making me who I am today. Many would argue that the

environment, improvement processes, the combination of control and treatment with
storm water, the effluent disposal and possible reuse of wastewater, removal of bio
solid and its reuse, and small flows on site treatment and disposal (Qasim, 1998,
p.35). The design of the treatment plant must incorporate effectiveness and flexibility
in order to deal with changes in the season, including the long term wastewater quality
changes. Thus, the design must also be appropriate according to both the local and
national government s future regulations. This will ensure that the community will
benefit from the Wastewater Treatment plant on a long term basis, as it
INTRODUCTION CHAPTER 1 1.1PROJECT
INTRODUCTION CHAPTER 1 1.1PROJECT SUMMARY: пѓ Unstructured data
on opinions, emotions, and attitudes contained in sources like social media, blogs,
online product reviews and customer support interactions is called the sentiment data.
пѓ An enterprise may analyze sentiment about products, services, competitors and
reputation. In twitter people post real time messages about their opinions on a variety
of topics and express sentiments for products they use in daily life. пѓ Each tweet is
140 character in length.Twitter generates around 250 million tweets daily. пѓ It is a
challenge to gather all such relevant data, detect and summarize the overall sentiment
on a topic. пѓ For this purpose, all the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Starting from being a document level classi п¬Ѓcation task, it has been handled at the
sentence level and more recently at the phrase level. Microblog data like Twitter, on
which users post real time reactions to and opinions about every thing , poses newer
and different challenges. The platform used for this system is the R language.
Features of R: пѓ It is easier to create graphics and animations. пѓ R is capable of
working with big data. Matrix manipulation and sorting becomes easier. пѓ It is open
source. пѓ R is an interactive programming language. пѓ Statistical analytics
becomes easier with R. SYSTEM ANALYSIS CHAPTER 2 2.1 STUDY OF
EXISTING SYSTEM: пѓ Currently, there are many offline software for analysis
wherein we need to provide the data to be analyzed пѓ The user needs to manually
get the data related to specific hash tags from twitter. It is a cumbersome process.
пѓ The accuracy of the sentiment analysis done on such analytics software is about
30 40% as these software are not dedicated for analysis of microblogs. 2.2
PROBLEM WITH EXISTING SYSTEM: пѓ Data is to be gathered manually. пѓ It
is time consuming. пѓ Format of the gathered data must be converted as required by
the software. 2.3 REQUIREMENT OF NEW SYSTEM: пѓ The task of retrieving
the tweets can be made automatic пѓ The task of formatting the tweets can be
reduced пѓ The accuracy
Why A Balloon Will Be Affected By Temperatures
The experiment will prove that the sizes of balloons can be affected by
temperatures whether very cold or extremely hot. I want to do this experiment to
see whether a balloon will grow or shrink when I put it in the freezer. I m looking to
see much the sizes change when the balloon is in the freezer as opposed to when
leave it out at room temperature. My research will be based on what I will see, books ,
and a few websites. I will be measuring all four of my balloons daily. I will also be
recording my data for fourteen days onto a table. My hypothesis states that if a
balloon is in the freezer as opposed to leaving it out at room temperature the balloon
in the freezer will expand more than the one at room temperature. In the following...

SI defines the Kelvin scale in two different points: 1) Absolute zero and 2) the
triple point temperature of water. Absolute zero is the lowest possible
temperature. It is assigned a value of 0 K. 0 K is equivalent to absolute zero. The
triple point of water occurs at 0.06 atmosphere of pressure and at a temperature
that is defined as 0.01 degrees celsius or 273.16 K. That is how we know that all
units of temperature are related. (World Book Encyclopedia. Kieran Mullen). The
other two units of temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit. The lowest temperature
in Celsius is zero degrees celsius which is also absolute zero for both Celsius and
Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit is the most common of the units of temperature. It is the one
that is mostly used in thermometers. We use Fahrenheit to measure the temperature
of most things such as food, liquids, and many other things. We also use in the
refrigerator and microwave. One degree Fahrenheit is equivalent to 17.2222
degrees celsius. One degree celsius is equivalent to 33.8 degrees celsius. The World

In these following paragraphs, the paragraphs will be about about balloons. There
are three different types of balloons such as gas balloons, hot air balloons, and sport
balloons. According to Russell Lee, gas balloons can be filled with gases such as
hydrogen, helium, natural gas, or any other gases that are lighter than air. Hydrogen

Stress in Military Recruiting

Introduction The Indiana Army National Guard was officially established in 1846 in
support of the Mexican American War and has been present at every military
engagement since. There are three primary units that make up the Indiana Army
National Guard: the 38th Infantry Division, the 219th Battlefield Surveillance
Brigade, and the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. In total, there are over 12,000
soldiers serving the great state of Indiana in every Military Occupational Skill
(MOS) available. In addition, there are two major units in the Air National Guard that

If the economy is weak, such as it is now, more people look to the military for
employment. Second, the Army has been tasked to reduce its force by nearly
50,000. Simply put, no new bodies are needed so only the best are accepted.
Unfortunately, the number of recruiters or their assigned mission has not changed
in the last seven years. There is the same number of recruiters in the field today as
there was in 2005. They have to put in the same number of people today as they did
in 2005. One does not need an advanced degree to see the difficulties in this
undertaking.
2. O Harrow Jr. R. (March 14, 2012). The Washington Post. In Recruiters for Army
Guard, Reserve suspected of fraud. Retrieved August 10, 2012, from http:/
/www.lexisnexis.com.proxy.devry.edu/hottopics/lnacademic/. Unfortunately,
impossible tasks lead some people to do unspeakable or illegal things. The National
Guard has a program that helps the every day soldier earn some money by recruiting
an individual. Each person they bring in earns them $2,000.00. Recruiters and those
in the Recruiting Command are ineligible for this program. This report discusses
what happens when the line is crossed. From the moment the program was
implemented, there were problems. It is very difficult to catch those who act
unethical. Although these individuals were caught, many are not. While in the
command, I witnessed this firsthand several times. One of the
What Is The Purpose Of King Arthur
Introduction The choice of subject is based on the importance of Arthur s figure and
characteristics in medieval times and the fact that the Arthurian legend has inspired
heaps of literature in the times after the legend was first published. This synopsis uses
the recognizable themes and symbols as a starting point for the analysis and
discusses whether the famous legend has had purpose and an influence.
Statement of purpose The purpose of this assignment as well as the chosen topic is to
investigate the literary figure of King Arthur. There will be a primary focus on how
the authors of medieval times interpreted the developing figure Arthur, and how
perennial themes as well as capturing human traits has fascinat ed the audience ...

Australopithecus Research Paper
Discovery
Australopithecus afarensis was discovered in Ethiopia on November 24, 1974 by
paleoanthropologists Donald Johanson, Maurice Taieb, Yves Coppens, and Tom
Gray in the Afar Depression in Ethiopia, Africa. The first fossil was found by
Johanson in 71 when he discovered a shinbone and femur. They returned in 1974
and the team found several hundred fragments of bones all belonging to a single
individual. The individual was deemed to be a female based on the width of the
pelvic opening. The fossil samples were argon argon dated by Robert Walter in
1992 and it was determined that she was approximately 3.22 3.18 million years old.
The species itself lived between 3.85 and 2.95 million years ago. This specimen was
named Lucy after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Characteristics
Male Australopithecines are on average 4 11 and weigh about 94 pounds while
females average 3 5 and weigh close to 64 pounds. The most notable characteristic
of Lucy was found in her knee, which indicated that the species walked upright or
was bipedal. Lucy s limb proportions also provide insight to her bipedality. Human s
hind limbs (legs) are longer than their fore limbs (arms). The ratio between arms
and legs is called an intermembral index. The average intermembral index for
humans is between 68 70 , while chimpanzees fall around 106 . Lucy s
intermembral index is 88 , which falls between both. This suggests that A. afarensis
probably walked on the ground with hind limbs and climbed in trees with fore
limbs. Lucy s pelvic blades are human like in that they are short and curved forward,
making the case for bipedality while on the ground. The location of Lucy s shoulder,
however, provides insight that she spent time climbing in trees. Furthermore, Lucy s
sacrum is wide and short at the top and goes in laterally like in humans. A wider and
shorter sacrum is better for distributing weight through the pelvis. This follows with
bipedal theories because this shaped sacrum is better
Analysis Of The Passage By Dalton Trumbo
ВЁParents act so strong for us, that we often forget just how fragile they are.ВЁ As
we grow we often find ourselves not spending as much of our free time with our
parents as we had when we could barely speak a sentence without having bad
grammar. This maturing state is something all of us experience. We become more
interactive with sports, friends, relationships, and we forget who gave us this
wonderful life. In the following stories of ВЁ The PassageВЁ, ВЁThrough the
TunnelВЁ , and ВЁAmerican HistoryВЁ the author utilizes dialogue to indicate the
disconnection from their parents in the journey to adulthood.
In the story The Passage By Dalton Trumbo, the author portrays coming of age and
the beginning of a new chapter in life through the dialogue between the
protagonist, Joe, and his father. The bond between Joe and his father is exhibited
as very stable and happy. Their bond displays the attachment every adolescent
acquires with their parents; as we learn almost everything basic to life from our
parents. This short story suggests that at one period in time we start to grow out of
adolescence into young adults and begin to detach from our forever known
guardians and heroes. We begin to mature and become more distracted with friends,
school, sports, etc.. Joe, in this short story, depicts this detachment from our parents
as we grow for example in paragraph two: Now he was 15 and Bill Harper was going
to come tomorrow... Tomorrow for the first time in all their trips

Essay My Favorite Food

  • 1. Essay My Favorite Food Writing an essay about my favorite food might seem straightforward at first glance, but it's actually quite challenging. The difficulty lies not in describing the flavors or textures of the dish, but in capturing the essence of why it's my favorite. Firstly, there's the task of conveying the sensory experience of the food in a way that truly does it justice. It's not enough to simply list its ingredients or describe its appearance; I must find the right words to evoke its aroma, taste, and even the emotions it elicits when I indulge in it. Then comes the deeper exploration of why this particular food holds such significance for me. Is it because of childhood memories associated with it? Or perhaps it represents a cultural connection or a comforting ritual in my life. Unpacking these personal connections requires introspection and careful reflection. Furthermore, there's the challenge of making the essay engaging and meaningful to the reader beyond just a list of personal preferences. I need to convey why my favorite food matters, not just to me, but in a broader context that others can relate to or find interesting. In essence, writing an essay about my favorite food demands more than just describing its taste; it requires delving into personal experiences, emotions, and cultural contexts to truly capture its significance. It's a task that requires careful thought and skillful expression to do justice to the subject. • 2. How Does The Global Population Increase In Urban Areas Geographers are fundamentally concerned with how places differ, and why places differ. Accessibility has a profound influence on the way that humans use land. The city is perhaps one of the greatest human innovations and is a tool used to maximize and facilitate accessibility. Cities are constructed deliberately as a means to facilitate access between firms and people, bringing both as close as possible. According to the United Nations, the world populations is expected to grow from 7.0 billion today to 9.3 billion in 2050, increasing by 2.3 billion (UNESA, 2012). The United Nations also estimate that, global urban populations will grow from 3.6 billion in 2011 to 6.3 billion in 2050, gaining 2.6 billion (UNESA, 2012). Based on these estimates, it is fair to assume that total global population growth will occur predominantly in urban areas and that global urban population growth will account for the total population increase as well as drawing in migration from the rural population to urban areas. As a further consequence, the global rural populations is expected to start decreasing in a decade s time and resulting in estimates of 0.3 billion fewer rural inhabitants in 2050 than there are today. The process of urbanization first began in the more developed regions of the contemporary world. Almost a century ago, 1920 saw below 30 per cent of the developed world in living urban areas. Only decades later, over half of their populace were residing in urban areas. Today, the

Both religions are monotheistic, and both even have a set of religious laws that all who are righteous abide by. Contrary to The Koran, although he was a man who walked with God, Noah was not a prophet. In The Koran, Noah s sons were unbelievers, but The Bible portrayed them differently. In fact, all three of Noah s sons entered the ark along with their wives. It was they, along with Noah and his wife, who Christians claim replenished the earth after the flood. It is hard to believe that only eight people could replenish the entire earth. Another distinct difference between the stories of Noah in The Bible in and in The Koran is that the Bible speaks of the mixing of races that took place between the sons of God, and the daughters of man. This was supposedly a very important factor that led to the flood. The Koran, on the other hand, never mentions anything about race mixing, and according to the creator of The Bile of The Koran, Savasan Yurtsever, there was no Culver 4 race mixing at all. In fact, the only reason the flood took place was to punish those who ignored Noah s prophecy. Lastly, Noah s curse is explained in complete detail in the Bile. Essay on Internet Taxation Internet Taxation The advent and expansion of the Internet have brought the issue of the application of state and local sales taxation to Internet, telephone, catalog, and other remote sales to the forefront of the policy debate. Under current law, states cannot require corporations without a substantial presence within their borders to collect and remit sales taxes. While all states do require residents to remit the taxes owed in the form of use tax payments, few people send in use tax forms, rendering remote sales essentially tax free. The SSUTA group set Oct. 1 as a target date for states to start enforcement. The legal standing that the states would have to force e commerce sites to comply is weak at best, but it s the classic lawsuit threat: We may lose, but you ll be forced to spend tons of money for lawyers and appearing in courtrooms and giving depositions. This meant that they wanted to earn money straight away rather than sacrifice for the future. Middle classes were however prepeared to sacrifice for the future they were future time orientated and concerned with deferred gratification. However a criticism of immediate gratification in this case is that the students aren t usually sacrificing as the first year of uni is enjoyable. The restricted code was a kind of shorthand speech which was used by working class children and the elaborated code spelled out meanings and details. Middle class children are socialised in both forms of speech teachers use the elaborated code

Fashion magazines use sexual violence with alarming, frequency, depicting sprawled dead eyed models. One advertisement from Doice and Gobonna, showed a shirtless man pushing a woman to the ground, while four men stood around observing what was going on around them. The media tends to portray domestic violence cases as individualized or isolated, rather than a thematic and contextually societal issue. Melissa McEwan, Feminist (2016) found, Rape culture is encouraging male sexual aggression. It is regarding violence as sexy aswell as sexuality as violent. Rape culture is treating rape as a compliment, as the unbridled passion stirred in a healthy man by a beautiful woman, making irresistible urge to open her bodice or slam her against a wall. This point proves how advertisements are encouraging male empowerment. Males believe that they have more power over the females, causing them to be looked down upon. The four men stood and watched the women fall to the ground, making it appear as a normal act. They did not feel the need to have to help the fragile women. Television also abuses the issue of relationship violence. Throughout television shows such as; Criminal Minds and Law Order the women characters are systematically introduced only to be bound, gagged, leashed, collared, trashed, chained, raped, and murdered for entertainment. The women are degraded and appear to be vulnerable. He remained there for only a year, after which, under the tutelage of Bertoldo di Giovanni, he began to frequent the Medici Garden of San Marco, and his talent drew the attention of Florence s leading citizen and art patron, Lorenzo de Medici, who enjoyed the intellectual stimulation of being surrounded by the city s most literate, poetic and talented men. De Medici extended an invitation to Michelangelo to reside in his palatial home of Via Larga, where Buonarotti meet Poliziano and other humanists of the Medicean circle, where he got in touch with the idealist theories of Plato, which become in one of the fundamental pillars of his life, and later on there were reflected in his artistic work as a poet. From this youthful phase, the art of Michelangelo presented original features that went beyond the simple imitation of the old. His figures showed an intense strength, and appeared as if seized by an internal tension. The obsession with the representation of the human body was a constant in his career. This interest in the human figure, and more specifically in men, has been explained through the homosexuality of the artist, since his relationship with the young patrician Tommaso dei Cavalieri is documented during his years of maturity. Between 1490 and 1492, Michelangelo made his first drawings, studies on the Gothic frescoes of Massacio and Giotto and the first reliefs, the Virgin della Scala

Young Offenders Into The Community REINTEGRATING YOUNG OFFENDERS INTO THE COMMUNITY Chapter 1 1.1 Introduction This paper is a report of an analysis of the concept of working with young offenders to prevent them from reoffending. The aim of this paper is to learn about the experiences of individuals who have been released from prison into the community so as to make contributions into developing relevant interventions based on the difficulties/barriers faced by these individuals. To add to this, this paper will explore whether every one of these offenders experiences are different or similar from another. This paper aims to answer a number of questions, among them whether the offenders ever have the thought that by reoffending or breaching their conditions they would go back to prison. Whether they used drugs. Whether they had any children and if they did whether they had contact with them if they see them when they are released or when they last saw them and if they have not seen them the reason why. Where do the offenders consider to get more support; Community or prison? 1.2 Progression of care through transition from prison into the community On 9 May 2013, the government published Transforming Rehabilitation which is a paper on A Strategy for Reform. The document set out the plans for changing how management of offenders in the community to decrease reoffending rates are. • 23. The Use Of Secondary Steelmaking Techniques On The Control... Introduction The use of secondary steelmaking techniques has made a major input to the optimisation of inclusion population for the control of modern steel properties. The development of new secondary steelmaking techniques was due to an increasing demand for improved and consistent qualities of high grade steels for chemical, petroleum, aerospace, and nuclear industries (Kiessling, 1989).( pg45). Secondary steelmaking includes provision for temperature control, bath agitation, efficient slag metal interaction and precise addition of alloying elements and reactants. With those technologies of secondary steelmaking process the number, size, morphology, and composition of inclusions can be controlled (Kiessling, 1989). (pg45). The global demand for clean steel has increased in the last years due to the demand for better performance. There is need to develop steel with fewer inclusions to improve performance. Steel inclusions impede performance as they may act as sources of crack growth and propagation. Some inclusions affect steel properties such as fatigue, ductility and weldability. According to Riyahimalayeri et al. oxide inclusions reduce the rolling contact fatigue life of steel products even when the total oxygen content is below the 10 ppm (Riyahimalayeri, et al., 2013). Inclusions like sulphur reduce steel toughness which hinders performance. It is imperative to develop methods that are aimed at reducing steel inclusions for better performance. Improved steel cleanness
  • 24. Crime And Punishment Ap Psychology Crime and Punishment Part III Essay Prompt Psychology stems from the Latin root psyche and translates to the study of the mind. In the novel, Crime and Punishment, the author Fyodor Dostoevsky, ventures into the psyche of his main character, Raskolnikov. Raskolnikov suffers greatly in this novel both physically and mentally. Dostoevsky depicts his mind through the utilization of various literary devices, clever diction, and abrupt phrases and in turn, he is able to display the fractured mind of Raskolnikov. The structure of the novelplays a key role in the depiction of Raskolnikov s sanity. The author is able to create a climactic scene that alters the life of Raskolnikov. He creates two major phases. In the quote thought by Raskolnikov, So I killed the principle, but I didn t step over, I stayed on this side..., the phrase step over symbolize Raskolnikov s morality line internally. By changing the idea of the woman into something abstract like a principle, Raskolnikov is able to justify that the murder was a moral act since he did not murder a person. He also often uses repetition to demand attention on specific topics. In the provided prompt, ... it wasn t a human being I killed, it was a principle! So I killed the principle, but I didn t step over, I stayed on this side... All I managed to do was kill, the repetition of the word kill is evident. He uses this word purposeful to direct the mind of his audience. It is used to symbolize how Raskolnikov feels in regards to death. Dostoevsky repeatedly uses kill to demonstrate that Raskolnikov does not care about the killing aspect of the murder. Raskolnikov is fully aware that he killed the old woman and he is able to admit that fact to himself. One may argue that Raskolnikov was concerned about the physical kill of the woman, but that is not the case. In that prompt, Raskolnikov s main attention is not on the killing. His main focus is on his justification. He never admits that he was wrong for the murder, yet he admits that he killed

Alcohol and Ir Spectrum Conversion of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides Title: Conversion of Alcohols to Alkyl Halides Abstract: In this experiment the conversion of alcohols to alkyl halides are investigated through reflux and simple distillation. These are common procedures used to separate substances. Every individual in the group was assigned either 1a (1 propanol) or 1b (2 pentanol), and 2 (1,4 dimethyl 3 pentanol). The next technique used in this experiment was simple distillation. This is a physical separation of the components of the mixture. This technique is accomplished once the drip rate of the product into the collection vessel diminishes considerably. After the reflux and distillation is complete 13C NMR and IR is used to identify the product or products for each reaction. 13C NMR is used to observe the carbon skeleton of an organic molecule. Analysis of this spectrum allows certain stretches to be observed. An IR spectrum has energy measured as frequency recorded on a horizontal axis and intensity of the absorption on the vertical axis. • 27. What Is Effective Altruism As A Philosophy And Social... Peter Singer, author of The Most Good You Can Do, defines effective altruism as a philosophy and social movement which applies evidence and reason to working out the most effective ways to improve the world (Singer, 2015, p. 4 5). Given this definition, who are effective altruists? They are individuals who wish to make positive contributions to society by considering their course of action in an objective manner. To make this clearer, Singer contrasts effective altruists from warm glow givers (Singer, 2015, p. 5). Warm glow givers donate to charities to feel good without truly understanding how their donations are utilized to help people. Hence, these givers will offer their donations not to the most pressing causes, but to causes that appeal to their heart. On the other hand, effective altruists do not immediately act based on their emotions. Instead, they take a moment to step back and critically analyze if a certain action will help as much people as they hope it will. In short, they want to target the most urgent issues by maximizing whatever resources they have for the benefit of a larger group of people. Since effective altruism is a movement aimed at helping the most people, who are these people that altruists hope to help? It is clear to me from this chapter that so far, the goal of effective altruism is to uplift the poor. In this chapter, Singer states that money will be utilized best if it is directed towards uplifting the needy in developing countries.

Water and Feast of Booths Jesus statement of living water comes at an opportune moment. John did not place this event unwittingly into the narrative of the story. My hypothesis states that if a balloon is in the freezer as opposed to leaving it out at room temperature the balloon in the freezer will expand more than the one at room temperature. Absolute zero is the lowest possible temperature. It is assigned a value of 0 K. 0 K is equivalent to absolute zero. The triple point of water occurs at 0.06 atmosphere of pressure and at a temperature that is defined as 0.01 degrees celsius or 273.16 K. That is how we know that all units of temperature are related. (World Book Encyclopedia. Kieran Mullen). The other two units of temperature are Celsius and Fahrenheit. The lowest temperature in Celsius is zero degrees celsius which is also absolute zero for both Celsius and Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit is the most common of the units of temperature. It is the one that is mostly used in thermometers. We use Fahrenheit to measure the temperature of most things such as food, liquids, and many other things. We also use in the refrigerator and microwave. One degree Fahrenheit is equivalent to 17.2222 degrees celsius. One degree celsius is equivalent to 33.8 degrees celsius. If the economy is weak, such as it is now, more people look to the military for employment. Second, the Army has been tasked to reduce its force by nearly 50,000. Simply put, no new bodies are needed so only the best are accepted. Unfortunately, the number of recruiters or their assigned mission has not changed in the last seven years. There is the same number of recruiters in the field today as there was in 2005. They have to put in the same number of people today as they did in 2005. One does not need an advanced degree to see the difficulties in this undertaking. 2. O Harrow Jr. R. (March 14, 2012). The Washington Post. In Recruiters for Army Guard, Reserve suspected of fraud. The National Guard has a program that helps the every day soldier earn some money by recruiting an individual. Each person they bring in earns them $2,000.00. Recruiters and those in the Recruiting Command are ineligible for this program. This report discusses what happens when the line is crossed. From the moment the program was implemented, there were problems. It is very difficult to catch those who act unethical. Although these individuals were caught, many are not. While in the command, I witnessed this firsthand several times. One of the

Australopithecus Research Paper Discovery Australopithecus afarensis was discovered in Ethiopia on November 24, 1974 by paleoanthropologists Donald Johanson, Maurice Taieb, Yves Coppens, and Tom Gray in the Afar Depression in Ethiopia, Africa. The first fossil was found by Johanson in 71 when he discovered a shinbone and femur. They returned in 1974 and the team found several hundred fragments of bones all belonging to a single individual. The individual was deemed to be a female based on the width of the pelvic opening. The fossil samples were argon argon dated by Robert Walter in 1992 and it was determined that she was approximately 3.22 3.18 million years old. The species itself lived between 3.85 and 2.95 million years ago. This specimen was named Lucy after the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Characteristics Male Australopithecines are on average 4 11 and weigh about 94 pounds while females average 3 5 and weigh close to 64 pounds. The most notable characteristic of Lucy was found in her knee, which indicated that the species walked upright or was bipedal. Lucy s limb proportions also provide insight to her bipedality. Human s hind limbs (legs) are longer than their fore limbs (arms). The ratio between arms and legs is called an intermembral index. The average intermembral index for humans is between 68 70 , while chimpanzees fall around 106 . Lucy s intermembral index is 88 , which falls between both. This suggests that A. afarensis probably walked on the ground with hind limbs and climbed in trees with fore limbs. Lucy s pelvic blades are human like in that they are short and curved forward, making the case for bipedality while on the ground. The location of Lucy s shoulder, however, provides insight that she spent time climbing in trees. Furthermore, Lucy s sacrum is wide and short at the top and goes in laterally like in humans. A wider and shorter sacrum is better for distributing weight through the pelvis. This follows with bipedal theories because this shaped sacrum is better

Analysis Of The Passage By Dalton Trumbo ВЁParents act so strong for us, that we often forget just how fragile they are.ВЁ As we grow we often find ourselves not spending as much of our free time with our parents as we had when we could barely speak a sentence without having bad grammar. This maturing state is something all of us experience. We become more interactive with sports, friends, relationships, and we forget who gave us this wonderful life. In the following stories of ВЁ The PassageВЁ, ВЁThrough the TunnelВЁ , and ВЁAmerican HistoryВЁ the author utilizes dialogue to indicate the disconnection from their parents in the journey to adulthood. In the story The Passage By Dalton Trumbo, the author portrays coming of age and the beginning of a new chapter in life through the dialogue between the protagonist, Joe, and his father. The bond between Joe and his father is exhibited as very stable and happy. Their bond displays the attachment every adolescent acquires with their parents; as we learn almost everything basic to life from our parents. This short story suggests that at one period in time we start to grow out of adolescence into young adults and begin to detach from our forever known guardians and heroes. We begin to mature and become more distracted with friends, school, sports, etc.. Joe, in this short story, depicts this detachment from our parents as we grow for example in paragraph two: Now he was 15 and Bill Harper was going to come tomorrow... Tomorrow for the first time in all their trips
