Judgment at Nuremberg is a movie which was directed by Stanley Kramer and was written by
Abby Mann based on a true story of a tribunal that happened in Nuremberg, Germany in 1948 until
1949. The film with 179 minutes duration shows us the tribunal to trial four NAZI judges who
were very famous in the NAZI era. They were Dr. Ernst Janning, (Burt Lancaster), Emil Hahn
(Werner Klemperer), Warner Lampe (Torben Meyer) and Friedrich Hofstetter (Martin Brand). The
judges who were presiding in the tribunal were JudgeDan Haywood (Spencer Tracy) with two other
judges who were American judge and arrived in Nuremberg in 1948.

There is one lesson that we can learn during the tribunal, soft power. Soft power is doing the
diplomacy, negotiation to overcome a problem. The conflicts that happened in the tribunal were

Cryptococcus neoformans is a fungus that lives in the environment around the world. This fungus
can be found in bird droppings, on rotted wood, or hollowed trees. C. neoformans is mostly
contracted by children, since they play outside around areas where the cohabitate. In order to be
infected with the fungus, one just needs to breath in or around it. However, this fungus is not
harmful to those who are healthy. It is especially harmful to anyone with a weak immune system,
such as those with HIV/AIDS.

affected the secondary plot of a reporter investigating his last words. The narrative strategy, in
which the whole story is told in flashback from slightly different points of view (the equivalent of
the unreliable narrator in fiction), was unprecedented in a Hollywood film. The technique of
telling the story of Kane from multiple points of view dispels the illusion that we are learning

The Effect of Jim Crow Laws on the American South
Soon after the Civil War, the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the Constitution abolished
slavery, granted citizenship, and provided equal protection to formerly enslaved people. However,
most southern states figured out ways to avoid these new laws and continued to deny the social
and political rights of African Americans. Laws were passed and other measures were enforced by
white southerners to produce a society separated by race. Specifically, southern legislatures passed
new segregation laws which were referred to as the Jim Crow laws. These laws were apparently
created to regulate social interactions between whites and blacks. In reality, the Jim Crow laws
made life very challenging for African Americans in the post Civil War South because these laws
intended to keep society segregated, reject the human and civil rights of African Americans, and
keep blacks at the bottom of the social hierarchy.
In the 1870s, white southerners implemented a racially segregated society across the South through
the creation of the Jim Crow laws. For instance, whites only and colored signs rapidly increased
throughout the American South as a constant reminder of the enforced racial order. These laws
affected almost every aspect of daily life, mandating segregation of schools, parks, libraries,
drinking fountains, restrooms, buses, trains, and restaurants ( Jim Crow ). Jim Crow intended to

Paul Laurence Dunbar was an African American writer who lived during the late 1800s. This
tumultuous time period was filled with racism that limited the freedom and the voice of African
Americans everywhere. This racism existed not only in the day to day lives of African
Americans, but also in the sphere of literature and, thus, severely impacted Dunbar s life.
Sympathy , published in 1899, is a poem that addresses the difference in treatment of white
Americans and African Americans as well as African Americans desire for freedom from both a
personal standpoint as a writer and also as a public figure speaking on behalf of the African
Americancommunity.
Sympathy is a reflection of Dunbar s own struggle as an African American poet during the late
19th century. During this time, African Americans were judged as socially and economically
inferior and lacking the tools of upward class mobility: proper English speech, literacy, and a
Western education (Roman 33). This view of African Americans was translated into the literary
field by the leading elite literary figure William Dean Howells, who believed that dialect poetry
was the only form of authentic and proper African America speech (Roman 33). Howells beliefs
led to editors choosing to only publish dialect poetry which forced Dunbar to discontinue writing

I have been a mentee throughout various phases of my career as well as in school. I have had
great mentors who have been very open and honest about strengths and weaknesses and who have
