Anna Wintour is one the worlds most recognised creatives. Nowadays she is regarded as the most
influential figure in the fashion industry and her creative directive has allowed her to become one
of the most powerful people in fashion in the last twenty years. Anna Wintour has proven countless
times how her creative vision and directive is not only extremely relevant, but is also revolutionary.
Time and time again Wintour s ideas have not only shaped the course of Fashion, but have given us
some of the world s leading designers and artists some that would not have been successful without

Who Knew That Consciousness And Moral Responsibility
Who Knew that Consciousness and Moral Responsibility was Simple? In this paper, I will
explicate the views of George Sher and Neil Levy on moral responsibility. These philosophers
present different arguments on determining how and whether an individual can be held morally
responsible for their actions and omissions. To begin this paper, I will address the view of Sher,
following with Levy s view, and then concluding the paper with a contrast of the two views.
George Sher develops his argument in his book, Who Knew?. His main thesis is laid out in the
Full Epistemic Condition, also known as the FEC. Sher s FEC proposes three distinct conditions
under which a person is morally responsible, with the second condition having two subsets. To be
held morally responsible, an individual must fulfill only one of the three conditions. The first two
conditions are distinct conditions under which a person can be held morally blameworthy, while
the third condition specifies conditions under which a person can be held morally praiseworthy. To
explain Sher s view, consider a woman who owns a cat, is married, and has a child. Every evening
during dinner, this woman opens the window while she cooks and gives most of her attention to
her husband and child as they talk to her about their days. The family s cat remains in the kitchen
with them as they prepare for dinner. Whenever the cat approaches the window, the woman
normally yells at the cat to get away from it, in order to keep it safe

Global Warming is False Essay
A Flawed Opinion
Whenever someone thinks of CO2, they think of global warming. They are reminded of Al Gore
and his stance on global warming and they automatically think it is true. He has a lot of evidence
to back up his theory about how global warming exists and that it is the reason animals are going
extinct and also why the climate is changing. Well these facts are wrong and there is evidence to
prove it. Global warming is not real and the Earth might even be in a cooling period. There so
many reasons to blame people for the epidemic of this false global warming. CO2, a naturally
produced gas absorbed by oceans and trees could not be the reason, so what could? Well, nothing

People assume that just because there are clouds of smog over cities and industrial areas, that it is
because of all the carbon dioxide being released into the air. There is also type of smog called
photochemical smog which was recently discovered in the 1950 s. Aus e tute s The Chemistry
of Photochemical Smog refers to photochemical smog as, a type of air pollution produced when
sunlight acts upon motor vehicle exhaust gases to form harmful substances such as ozone (O3),
aldehydes and peroxyacetylnitrate (PAN). When some see this they think, wow, all the carbon
being released from the burning of fossil fuels in cars can lead to these toxic chemicals. That is
where they are wrong. Aus e tute also sets apart the type of gasses from cars that cause these
chemicals. They explain that, Motor vehicles produce exhaust gases containing oxides of
nitrogen such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and nitric oxide (NO). Again no carbon was the effect
of a potentially harmful chemical byproduct. Later in his article John Coleman explains some of
the main components of our atmosphere. Most of the air we breathe today is mostly nitrogen. He
says in page 3 of his article that ...in front of my face contains 100,000 molecules of atmosphere.

Bruce Lee s Accomplishments
There have been countless influential people in this world. It would take years to study each and
every person s life, because there have been so many influential people in the world. One of these
extremely important people was Bruce Lee. He is known for numerous things, such as his kung fu
skills, or his fantastic movies. All of these things greatly helped him to change acting. To do this
though, his childhood had to form him into who he was. Additionally, his career greatly defined
how he influenced acting. It is very clear when you examine Bruce Lee s life that he formed many
fantastic qualities and skills that allowed him to change the acting community forever. Bruce Lee s

Well, we can clearly see the great qualities he formed. One quality that Lee gained during his life
was perseverance. One way that he built this quality was in his childhood. For example, he must
of got into many fights while he was in gangs. To win those fights, he would have had to have
excellent perseverance. Additionally, when Lee was sent to America by his parents, it must
have been very tough for him. Despite this, he built amazing perseverance by moving on with
his life, despite being in a completely new place. Finally, Lee built perseverance during his adult
career. At one point, he hit a block in jobs (after The Green Hornet ended). Despite this, he was
able to persevere until he eventually began to get great acting jobs. Along with perseverance,
Bruce Lee also became a very hard working person as he went about his life. One point of his life
that built this mindset was when he was working through school. Obviously it is always hard to
do well in school, but since Lee went to college that shows that he was willing to work hard.
Additionally, all of Lee s success in the movie industry shows that he had a hard working mind
set. He would not have been able to achieve the success that he did if he had not worked
extremely hard. In today s world, we can still learn from Lee s qualities. His qualities show us that
if we work hard and persevere through tough times, then we can become extremely influential
people, who will positively change the world

Barriers And Challenges To Pursue Of Gender Equality
Although gender equality has continued to drastically improve over the years, a glass ceiling still
exists. Recent research continues to illustrate that the barriers that professional females face in
today s society is tremendous. While the barriers and challenges that professional women face is
well documented, it is also critical to evaluate the perceptions of those barriers held by women. In
education, men often hold leadership positions. Statistically, superintendents almost always come
from teaching backgrounds. When the majority of teachers are female, it is intriguing to ask why the
male teaching population tends to be of the select few who ultimately rise to higher leadership
positions. According to Wallace (2015), the proportion of females in the superintendency was
23% in 2012 and increases by only 0.7% annually. This statistic is shocking, as it would take
approximately 80 years for females to be proportionately represented in public school leadership. It
is critical to assess the barriers and challenges females face in regards to leadership attainment.
There are certainly internal and external factors that continue to plague this genderdiscrepancy.
Furthermore, proportional inequities continue to stem from historical contexts ranging from social
and cultural norms to professional networks. Additionally, gender bias and sexism challenges
continue to plague female authority figures. While there are many variables contributing to the
shockingly low

diversion that he composed over 100 years earlier. Basketball has changed over the times since it
was first developed. The basketball changed a few times before they came up with the perfect
style ball for this sport. The rules have changed from the original 13 rules to a whole book of
rules. Since 1890 to the present several rules have been established. For example, if a player
who is fouled can t shoot the free throw, the other team coach selects the free throw shooter from
the 4 players on the floor. The coach of the fouled player used to be able to select any player
from his roster to substitute. Another change in the rules are the formation around the free throw

the number of players around the lane from 8 to 6. Exchanging possession of the ball rule was
introduced in this time period. The jump ball is only to start the game and overtime periods. The

Based on the recent communications with Palm, it is clear that they are not interested in
negotiating with ttools despite the fact that they have reminded them about infringement. Palm is
already in a contract with IDEO to design a stylus similar to ttools which means that Palm will
cease to publish any ads about ttools products from their online newsletter. Negotiating or
competing without taking any action to stop infringement of its intellectual property would not
enable ttools to leverage its core organizational strengths in competing with Palm. In its current
state ads through the online newsletter is the most helpful marketing tool for ttools to reach out
to the PDA owners. If Palm stops publishing ads which is highly likely action from Palm s
perspective in order to promote their own product ttools need to develop their own marketing
capabilities. Even if they start their marketing campaign, ttools might not be able to compete Palm
in terms of resources and market reach. The other alternative of ceasing negotiation and competing
with Palm might not be very effective because of the fact that we do not have the capabilities to
set a solid ground for such competition. Even if ttools start competing based on its superior pricing
and material quality, Palm could easily match its pricing and material quality as long as they could
infringe ttools product design. If ttools does not file litigation charges, Palm has not compelling

Essay On Irish Immigration
Just recently, over 4 million immigrants came to the United States from Europe. According to A
Library of Congress Book: Immigrants, By 1890, New York City alone will have twice as many
Irish as Dublin... and as many Germans as Hamburg. Over 75% of the immigrants are from Ireland
and Germany. Now, since it was obviously not a coincidence that 4 million people were added to
the United Statespopulation so quickly, you wonder what the reasons were behind their large
movement. The Irish had the motivation to move when, in the mid 1840s, a potato blight, caused
the famine. The late blight , which is, according to Britannica.com, a disease of potato and tomato

They viewed the United States by its offer of greater economic opportunity. They thrived for
more freedom from government control and left Germany to find that. Most of the German
immigrants came to mid western states and became farmers. Those who were not hired as
farmers were anything from tailors to servants to clerks to food merchant at Urban Centers. In
my opinion, our country is populated enough and we do not need people from other countries
joining in now. There is a reason that Germans are called Germans, and that Irish are called Irish.
It is because of the fact that being a German is because you are from Germany and same with
any other country. As long as we are staying in our country, why must others leave theirs? We are
called Americans because we are from America and everyone else gets their title because of their
nationality, place of birth, or simply where the family originated. This could also cause problems
for our country with a largely increasing population. If you think about it, you realize that if our
country doesn t change with the new population, folks may have to either build new homes or
move in with residents of the area. People have different ideas but this can seriously cause major
issues for our country. I am not sure that the United States would even be considered as our country

Bilingualism Importance
Quynh Nhi Tran P. 4 The Importance of Bilingualism In my life, I must speak many different
languages: English at home, with my friends, in public, as well as Vietnamese with family. When
speaking to my parents, I show respect and sometimes humor. I often even combine English with
Vietnamese. With my siblings and friends, I use sarcastic and understanding tones. In public, I
carefully choose my words in order not to offend anyone. With extended family, I quietly speak in
the polite Vietnamese that my culture demands. Because I speak a variety of languages, my ability
to communicate with others heightens. To me, bilingualism means communicating in public or
private languages and embracing its culture. The dictionary definition does not encompass the
importance or connotation of bilingualism. MartГn Espada and Richard Rodriguez, esteemed
authors, write essays about the role of bilingualism in their lives. Espada s essay, The New
Bathroom Policy At English High School , describes the superiority English holds over other
languages, and Rodriguez s essay, Hunger of Memory , details the sacrifices of learning English.
Both authors speak Spanish and English, have received a myriad of awards for their writing, and
have experienced the difficulties maintaining two languages. Each author depicts their definitions
of bilingualism. Espada portrays it as the right to speak multiple languages, including keeping and

Punishment In Prisons
After four weeks of learning about punishment and the penal system I feel like I have learnt a lot
about the system as a whole. As I previously mentioned before enrolling in this unit I was naГЇve
about the system, how it operated, the living conditions of the inmates and the social demographics
that contributed to the prisonpopulation. With all of my recent knowledge from the lectures and
readings, I was still surprised to find out how much it cost to maintain a person in prison. I was
always aware that a proportion of the taxpayers money was spent on prisons but I was unaware
of how substantial that amount was. In the 2013 2014 period, 2.6 billion dollars was spent on the
prison system in Australia, this roughly equates to $292 dollars per day per prisoner and these
numbers are expected to increase. I am currently working as a causal and make around $250 per
week while the typical working Australian on average... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reflecting on these numbers it is hard for me to fathom how expensive it is to sustain a person in
prison. With the costs expected to increase, it is becoming more apparent that such high expenses
are putting financial pressures on the state government and are reducing the pool of funding and
resources that are needed for education and health.
After learning about the concept of less eligibility and the importance of treating inmates in
accordance with basic human rights, I do not think that the funding from these facilitates should be
reduced. However, I do agree with any scholars in this area who express the opinion that it would
be more cost effective for funding to be spent on the early detection of delinquent behaviour than on
prisons. If more funding was being spent on early prevention schemes it would be more beneficial
to the individual and community as a whole rather than spending that

management and leadership skills in balance. As the imbalance between these two can be harmful
for the person and for the organization he is working for. Book has also given the way you can

Griot Gender
In this paper I want to go in depth to share my understanding and perception of what I believe a
griot is, i am choosing to write about this because 1, I was captivated by the word, its meaning,
its influence in the story and 2 because I believe even till this day we still have areas where
people still carry out these functions and also because I was not satisfied with my digestion of
this word when we talked about it in our section groups due to limited time. Who is a griot?
According to the book, Sundiata griots were the counselors of kings, they conserved the
institution of the kingdoms by memory work alone and they also appear as one of the most
important people of the society two things I want to talk about 1. Gender 2. Position/power. As I

what the gender of a griot was and it turned out to my knowledge it was a male. This drew me back

Much will depend on the quality of the products or services. How we deal with customer enquiries

Racial Inequalities And Racial Inequality
Since America s beginning, race based barriers have mired the fulfillment of our shared principles
and many of these barriers still persist today. The institutionalized inequalities are detrimental on an
individual basis as well a societal basis. Racism does not only affect the individuals that are being
oppressed but also how society functions as a whole. Racial inequalities have manifested in
American society in ways that underlies a wide range of societal domains such as housing patterns,
educational opportunities, healthcare inequality, and incarceration rates. Current events and
experiences demonstrate moreover that racial inequality is still adamant in the American culture.
Long after slavery, the Jim Crow Era, and the civil rights movement, racial inequality has taken
distinctive forms which affect many people within a racially oppressed group. Racial segregation at
large is embedded within a structural matrix that not only permeates in the American culture but in
our private and public institutions. Disparities in the criminal justice system and housing patterns
remain a key barrier to racial equality in America. In order to eradicate racial inequality, there needs
to be policy solutions that place fundamental changes to a system with profound historical origins,
one that structurally disadvantages minority groups. The criminal justice system s high volume of
contact with people of color is a major cause of broader perceptions of injustice in many
communities.

The Theory Of Macroeconomic Analysis Deals With Economic...
The theory of macroeconomic analysis deals with economic aggregates. This theory is very critical
and important in decision making by planning agents in the economy (Mankiw, 2010).
Macroeconomics analysis is of great and paramount importance to the three entities that comprise of
any economy who are the households, firms and the government institution. The households in the
economy are majorly interested in the macroeconomic analysis to determine and know how a
slight change in general price level is likely to affect their welfare through what they can be able to
purchase with the same level of nominal income. It is also very crucial to the households in
explaining how changes in the nominal interest rates is likely to influence the cost of borrowing
money by the households for investment purpose. Macroeconomicsanalysis looks at the aggregate
effect of those changes putting into consideration all the households in the economy in order to
come up with just one decision measure that is characteristic of the overall economy (Samuelson,
2008). The firms in the economy consult macroeconomic analysis when they want to establish the
effect of increased production in the market. They would like to be certain about whether such a
move would be welcome by the consumers in the market and whether the consumers would have
enough money to purchase the products or whether the aggregate national demand for the product
is commensurate to the aggregate level of production for the

The Current Trends And Major Industries That Are Utilizing...
Introduction GIS is an abbreviation for Geographic Information Systems. GIS is a perfect blend of
geography and technology. People can accumulate various forms of location data (both tangible and
intangible) and produce living, breathing maps. By utilizing the power of Geographic Information
Systems, users can create powerful applications. These applications can range in size from being
small (surveying a single farm) to large (displaying real time voting across the country in a
presidential election). The paper will begin with a literature review on the sources used for research
including conference papers, lectures, and trade magazines. Immediately following the literature
review, there will be the discussion which entails a thorough explanation of the fundamental
concepts that contribute to the foundation of Geographic Information Systems. After the
explanation of concepts, there will be high level summary of Roger Tomlinson s GIS
implementation plan for companies. This paper will then discuss the current trends and major
industries that are utilizing GIS. In the end, there will be a conclusion that will include a future
analysis on GIS. Literature Review Discussion Geographic Information Systems is a basic input
/output mechanism. The user collects geo location data such streets, buildings, or rivers and non
geo information including populations, compensations, or other meta data. After careful research,
the user can compile the data and enter it into the system. With

Summary Of The Book By Peter Pan
As Trevor, Hannah and Sean wander around the separate world, Trevor flips through pages and
passages in the book that describes exactly what they are seeing. This brings up the theory that
someone must have stumbled upon this world, escaped and wrote a book (Journey to the centro of
the Earth) about it. The movie depicts an alternate universe where dinosaurs are still alive, birds
that are thought to have been extinct still wonder, fungus (mushrooms) grow to be larger than
houses and water that sparkles a bright blue. As the trio wander through the center of the Earth
they are speechless as to what they are seeing. Trevor realizes that Max wasn t as crazy as what
everyone thought him to be and Hannah realizes the same about her father.

The deal is that every spring, Peter can come and get Wendy to help him with cleaning his hut in
Nederland. However, as the years pass, Wendy starts seeing less and less of Peter Panand the island
Nederland, eventually becomes a smudge of dust in her memory, and Wendy matures into a young
woman who enjoys growing up. In Journey to the center of the Earth, the story literally takes place
in the center of the Earth. The place is thoroughly described in the book treasured by Trevor s
brother and Hannah s father. It is a place that was thought to be fictional but turned out to be a
reality, when Trevor, his nephew Sean and their guide Hannah fell into it. There, the trio are highly
fascinated with a world they did not believe existed but as they encounter many inhabitants of the
place wanting to kill them, which is the same as what Wendy and her brothers from Peter Pan
encountered, the trio continuously fight through every obstacle that they are faced with to get home.
One of the other connections that I made between my texts was also how the settings influenced

Brian s Accommodation Of Colloquial Language In Teenage Film
As one might expect from a teenage film, the characters use a large selection of colloquial
language, including taboo language. This slang is most often used towards each other than
towards the adults, likely due to the fact that it has perhaps been used to converge (Giles
Accommodation theory ) in order to unify the group; a goal crucial in the narrative of the film.
Despite the characters all belonging to different social cliques so the expectation is that they will
show differences and divergence more notably, convergence is quite clear, especially when studying
Brian.
In Scene 17 Brian echoes Bender by repeating the colloquial noun Cherry and verb Laid . In

As well as using abusives ( You are a bitch! ) for aggressive swearing, he also uses expletives and
phrasal verbs ( Shit! and Take a piss ) for social swearing to strengthen group affinity 4 and to

out from the others and maintaining his image as The Rebel which is, as Ljung states,
exhibitionist swearing. However, when bearing in mind his background, Bender might use it as a
way of dealing with his bitterness towards his family ( It was a banner fuckin year at the old

How Did The Roman Empire Change Over Time
Throughout the history of the Roman Empire, people of all parts of the society saw many
changes. A few of the changes that they experienced were the changes in how the different
emperors ruled, the dividing of the empire, economic stability and growth, and the expansion of the
empire. One of the greatest changes that the people saw was the change in religion. Due to changes
with the empire s most dominant and profound religion, there was much controversy over the

Pros And Cons Of Aspartame
Aspartame Controversy
There has been much research and controversy about the chemical C14H18N205, aka aspartame.
Even though a large amount of research has been done on aspartame, most people are unaware of
the dangers. As consumers, it is important to educate ourselves on what the FDA is approving for
human consumption.
Aspartame is the most common and one of three alternative sweeteners in the United States which
can be found in more than 6,000 products and is consumed by more than 200 million people
around the world (Calorie Control, 2015). You will find these man made sweeteners in many
reduced calorie foods; such as, jams and jellies, powdered soft drinks, maple syrups, chewing
gum, juice blends, frozen desserts, cereals, hard candy and the most popular of products being
sodas. Aspartame is also seen in little pink packets of Sweet Low on restaurant tables. Besides
being found in vitamins its important use is in many low calorie and sugar free beverages and ...

Aspartic acid significantly raises the blood plasma shortly after ingesting aspartame which leads
to a high level of those neurotransmitters in certain areas of the brain. Too much of the toxin will
stimulate the brain cells to death. Many people are not aware of the many issues and problems
surrounding aspartame because they are not reported in the newspapers or on the news. This is
because the incidents happen one at a time across the U.S. and mainly because people do not
associate their symptoms with the long term use of aspartame.
The FDA has set its acceptable daily intake for aspartame at 50mg. A 12 ounce can of diet soda
contains 180mg of aspartame; and Americans consume approximately 200mg of aspartame daily.
Nutritionists recommend that it would be best to avoid any and all additives in foods, including
aspartame, as they are synthetic chemicals. Instead, choose sweeteners that you recognize as foods
such as honey, pure maple syrup, stevia and apple

Descriptive Essay About Dance
Each year, in the month of Halloween and all things spooky, hundreds of supportive friends and
family members coalesce together in the Alpena public high school s dusty and chaotic
auditorium to view the spectacular dancers performing on stage. Each one of the dancers
prepare and anxiously wait for the big day in October where they can show their loved ones
what they have been rehearsing for all year long and when this suddenly creeps up everyone is
beyond delighted that it is finally here. The amount of families who unite and come together to
support the studio is extremely heartwarming and I was ecstatic that the recital was finally up on
me, but of course I was very unsteady about performing in front of hundreds of people. Months
before all the chaos of ordering costumes and preparing for the recital, the dancers all needed to
take time and practice. Everyone loved dancing in the quiet little studio each week. The
disadvantage was that each time you would step in, the air in the room would feel a lot like getting
stabbed in the back with an ice cold knife. The air awoke the dancers and I up as if the air was an
alarm that was blaring in our eardrums. As the dancer slipped on their tap shoes, I, of course, was
prepared for an exciting adventure filled lesson with some of my closest friends by my side. The
rush of adrenaline made my heart beat faster and faster. My stomach began doing somersaults as if
I was still in acro class. My recital was only a week away and the

Similarities Between The Abbasid And The Umayyad
The Umayyads were a family that took over after the death of Ali, they ruled the Islamic Empire
helping spread the faith through conquering. The Abbasids were the next family that took over
after the fall of the Umayyads. The Abbasids had many achievements, and helped expand the
empire further. The Umayyads and the Abbasids both ruled the same areas, and they both
conquered more area to spread their religion. Although they share features they also are different in
their government, and the treatment of the social classes. Some similarities between the Umayyads
and the Abbasids are their government, where they rule from, and how they treat the people they
conquer. For example both the Umayyads and the Abbasids left the monotheistic religions such as
the Christians and the Buddhists to their faith. They let them keep their faith, culture and follow
their own laws. Also both empires initiated the jizya, a tax, for all monotheistic non Muslims.
Religions like the Christians paid the tax so they did not have to convert, and the Muslims
collected the money for their own use. People of other religions like, religions of pagan gods, were
forced to convert. Another similarity is where the empires ruled from. During the Umayyad empire,
their capital was Damascus, on the coast of Persia. While during the Abbasid period, it was moved
to Baghdad, also in Persia. Both empires capitals were centered in Persia, which eventually
influenced their culture and traditions. Their last

The Characteristics Of Dilificity In Dubious Battle By Mac...
Diligence and dedication, two qualities that most people would consider quite admirable. In In
Dubious Battle, Mac McLeod radiates both of these traits and although these traits are admirable
as aforementioned, Mac s motives and actions cause some of his better qualities to be overlooked.
For Mac, most of what he does is to benefit his cause and what he is working towards, which is
ultimately a massive strike by thousands of workers on an apple farm. However, there are points
throughout the novelin which we see Mac force others to give up something, possibly even their
life for the cause which is what he deems to be the greater good. We see this when he uses
Anderson s farm, knowing that in all likelihood the farm would be damaged or destroyed one
way or another. Mac exudes a disregard for the well being of others as long as it benefits himself
and his cause, which he knows is bound to fail. He uses this cause as a cover to benefit himself
further making him selfish. Throughout the novel we see Mac continuously disregard the effects
that his actions will have on others. As aforementioned, Mac simply doesn t care that Anderson s
farm will get burned and destroyed at no fault of Mr. Anderson which we see when he tell Doc
Burton that the cause is worth the sacrifice. On top of this he consistently called upon others to
perform dangerous acts and missions, knowing well that there was a good chance they would get
arrested, beaten, or killed. Though Mac does show concern for

Israeli Security Concerns
Abstract The following essay takes a realist approach to the issue of Israel s refugee problem.
The essay addresses the security issue of the Right of Return where more than 4 million
Palestinian termed refugees clamor to return to their homes that they were displaced from during
the 1948 war. Whilst Palestinians demand the right to return to their Israeli located homes under
the right of United Nations General Assembly article 11 of Resolution 194, Israelis fear the
displacement of their state by a huge and exponential number of Palestinian refugees returning.
The essay summarizes historical points that constitute the problem. Analysis of the problems
shows that the traditional definition of refugee has been corrupted to suit UNRWA agenda where
the refugee number has grown and will continue to grow to absurd lengths. One policy therefore
recommends that the UN amend this definition to reflect a more solid reality. An alternate policy
recommends that the UNRWA be replaced by its more affective predecessor, the UNHRCA. The
essay, too, recommends that America work in amending this change since by so doing America
will be assisting her own terrorist problem. Table of contents A Realistic Approach to Regional

Laocoon s Influence on Renaissance Artists
The Renaissance was indeed a proud moment in history. It was a time of the revitalization of
antiquity, breakthrough scientific discoveries, and profound, inspirational artwork. The desire and
urge to establish stronger connections with the classical past brought about the search and
discovery of many ancient manuscripts and artworks. One of the most celebrated discoveries
occurred during the height of the Renaissance: The Laocoon. Perhaps one of the world s most
famous Hellenistic sculptures, it was originally located in the palace of Titus. It was then lost for
over a thousand years before its rediscovery in 1506. Pope Julius IIimmediately acquired it, and

The Trojans accepted the gift, and at night, the Greeks slipped out of the horse and opened the
city, which led to the fall of Troy. Laocoon was a high priest of Troy who warned against
accepting the wooden horse. Frustrated that the Trojans were ignoring his warnings, Laocoon
threw a spear at the giant wooden horse, and spurned the rage of Poseidon (who, along with the
other Gods favored the Greeks) to send giant sea serpents to strangle him.
One of the major significances of the Laocoon Group was the timing and effect of its celebrated
discovery. Prior to its discovery, the only known records of its existence were from ancient
manuscripts and records by Pliny the Elder. Buried underground for over a millennium, the
Laocoon Group emerged once again after its discovery near the baths of Titus in 1506. This was
during the height of the Renaissance, an era of the revitalization of the classics. Due to the strong
desire to possess the great works of antiquity, its discovery was an immediate success. Discovering
the Laocoon was like discovering the Titantic; an ancient treasure finally revealed after endless

Religious Conflict in Russia
RELIGIOUS CONFLICT IN RUSSIA
One of the great ironies of history is that Marxism, an atheistic theory, was first implemented in
RussiaВ—a land inhabited by millions of believers practicing most of the world s great religions.
In fact, religion is so integral to the culture and history of Russia, it would be impossible to gain a

reasons involving the Mortmain Acts. The obvious conclusion to draw is that any failure to
perform a secret trust is a fraud, regardless of why the secret trust was created.
CONCLUSION
From a wide range of available case law it can be safety suggested that secret trusts are enforced on
the basis of fraud prevention but the courts remain concerned as to the possible uncertainty and
confusion that could be created by upholding a doctrine that completely undermines all forms of
formalities.

The Effects Of Whitewashing In Hollywood
Given that the media is such a major part of how we see the world, it is important to dig deeper
into the message it often portrays. In this day, televisions and cellphones are staple devices in
every household, making it a simple and speedy platform to influence individuals of all
demographics. Hollywood in particular has all the potential to provide positive and true
portrayals of Asian culture through their work but they continue to do the exact opposite in
order to please American viewership which leads to the whitewashing of the material. Race is
sadly a factor that goes into choosing the right person for a role and this is where whitewashing
comes into play as white actors are casted in roles that were originally meant for non white
actors. This can be seen in Hollywood as early as the 1920 s up to modern day America. This can
have negative effects on our society and the way we view each other due to misrepresentation and
blatant disrespect towards cultures, however it can also bring awareness and spark change due to
the backlash it receives at the same time.
. The practice of whitewashing is extremely prevalent and has become somewhat of a tradition
among Hollywood s many works. Hollywood has a long history of whitewashing that dates back as
early as 1919 in D.W. Griffith s filmBroken Blossoms in which a white actor played the role of a
Chinese immigrant. Back then, whitewashing was overt and the roles were highly caricatured,
especially in the series of Charlie

Physical Development Of The Physical Brain And Body
Hereditary and environmental aspects are interconnected in the developmental of the physical
brain and body (Berk Meyers 2016, p.171). Physical development in early childhood is;
awareness of space, body and movement (Rogers Wright 2015, p. 24), development of motor
capabilities and physical growth (Berk Meyers 2016, p. 5). From birth to two years, children are
experiencing physical change; size and weight, brain development and refinement of motor skills
(Berk Meyers 2016, p. 5). The environment, social and genetic aspects all have an influence on the
physical development of children (Tatiana et al. 2017, p. 1).
Physical development is motor development through stage based milestones, where the progression
of physical skills and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the size of the head is much greater than the rest of the body, the brain developments in a very
quick pace (Berk Meyers 2016, p. 161). A majority of brain growth occurs rapidly in the early
years of an infant s life and is a crucial period in brain development (Fallik 2016, p. 7). During the
first two years, children are forming neurons that store and communicate information and synapses
(Berk Meyers 2016, p.162).
Nature refers to inborn factors influencing physical development stated in Estourgie van Burk
2006 (cited in Berk Meyers 2016, p. 171). Genes are in chromosomes that contain a genetic code,
which makes humans who we are (Berk Meyers 2016, p.51). Chromosomal abnormalities also
influence physical growth, such as children with Down syndrome have slower motor abilities
(Berk Meyers 2016, p. 59) therefore having a significant impact on physical development. From
birth, almost all children can learn to crawl, walk and grasp items (Berk Meyers 2016, fig. 5.2).
Berk and Meyers (2016, p. 171) considers the rate and growth of body size; height and weight are
largely influenced by genetics as long as there are no significant negative impacts on the child.
Jean Jacques Rousseau s ideas on child development were: children have a natural course of
growth (Berk Meyers 2016, p. 13). Arnold Gesell modified Rousseau s ideas which led to the
development of the maturational model of development (Berk Meyers 2016, p. 13), where he
believed that

How To Write An Autobiography Of Savannah
Early in the morning on the African savannah the sun begins to emerge from the horizon. The
morning sun continues to rise turning the sky a beautiful blood orange color. All types of animals
are called to attention by an African tribal chant; Nants ingonyama bagithi baba!
Groups of animals emerge from the thick fog walking across the grassy savannah. A flock of
flamingos fly across the still crystal water. Herds of antelope hop like frogs through the morning
mist. Meanwhile, a mother giraffe and her calf walk out from the shadows into the warm sunlight.
They stand on a grassy hill and notice below them groups of animals walking in the same
direction. They prance down the hill eager to join them. As they do this, a colonel of red ants
walk gracefully across a stick carrying large leaves. Below them, a large ... Show more content on

stomp up the hill loudly, their giant feet bringing up more and more thick clouds of dust with

animals gather. Zazu, a small blue bird with a large orange beak flies to the ledge. He bows with
gratitude to Mufasa, a strong powerful lion with a thick red mane. Emerging from the crowd of
animals Rafiki, an elderly baboon with white hair, slowly climbs up the ledge. He hugs Mufasa
warmly. They walk back to a cave where Mufasa s wife Surabhi is cradling a tiny lion cub.
Mufasa and Surabhi rubs their heads together showing their love for each other. Surabhi licks
Simba s head gingerly waking up the napping lion cub. Smiling, Rafiki bends over Simba shaking
his walking cane which has two large melons attached to it. Simba swats his paws at

The Wind Of The Willows, By Kenneth Grahame
Journeys provoke travellers, that may ultimately lead to transformation of self and leave the
traveller far richer for the experience
In both The Wind in the Willows, and Journey to the Interior, the idea that journeys may provoke
travellers and ultimately lead to transformation of self and richer experiences, is clearly exhibited
within. Depending on an entity s current perspective, they may either embody provocative views,
such as the Rat in the Wind in the Willows and also the persona in Journey to the Interior, or even
have an accepting perspective to journey, such as the character of Toad. Through the use of tone,
symbolism and also truncated sentences, the quote is partially accurate in The Wind in the

Ultimately, because of the nature of the character of Rat, it is clear that this individual despises and
fears the idea of journey, showcasing how an entity s current perspective, can impede on their view
on, and appreciation of journey.
Moreover, in The Wind in the Willows, the idea that journey can lead to transformation of self, and
rich experiences is exhibited in Toad s ecstatic perception of journey. In this extract of the novel,
Toad believes that adventure is the only means of fulfilling and experiencing a real animalistic life;
That s real life for you, embodied in that little cart . The cart is symbolic of Toad s ambitious nature,
which is manifested through his jubilant tone and positive attitude in response to change and
adventure. This optimistic view on journey proves that transformation of self and rich experiences
is attained by undertaking journey. Toad illustrates an image of journey as being something life
changing; Travel, change, interest, excitement! The whole world before you and a horizon that s
always changing . The cumulative listing of the intangible rewards associated with journey,
emphasizes how adventure can lead to richer experiences . Additionally the metaphoric phrase of
the changing horizon represents Toad s intention of adventure and acceptance of and fearfulness of
change. Subsequently, because of Toad s optimistic and accepting perspective on journey, the quote

Summary Of C. S. Lewis The Screwtape Letters
Do you ever tire of reading stories were the good guys always win? If so, The Screwtape Letters
is the book to read. C.S. Lewis portrays his good guy as a demon named Screwtape who has a
young apprentice named Wormwood. In the story, Wormwood has the task of tempting The Patient
and making sure that he goes to Hell. Throughout the book, Screwtape tries to advise Wormwoodon
how to tempt successfully. All is going well for Wormwood until The Patient becomes a Christian
and turns his life over to the Enemy . Screwtape initially tells Wormwood that all will be okay and
explains to him that it can be a simple fix. Unfortunately for Wormwood, things do not turn out to
be so simple and ultimately Wormwood fails to ensure The Patient s eternal damnation. The
punishment for the apprentice was to become Screwtape s dinner. Although one can be distracted
by the intriguing plotline, there are many things that can be found throughout the story. To name
some extracurricular items that can be found: Anthropology, bibliology, Christology, theology, and
soteriology.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anthropology can be simply defined as the study of human beings. How does the study of human
beings play into The Screwtape Letters? Throughout the Screwtape Letters there is a great deal of
craftiness on the part of Wormwood and Screwtape. Much of this craftiness is geared toward their
assumptions of human nature. Screwtape believes that by exploiting the weaknesses of humans
they can lead anyone to Hell. This turns out to be quite true in most cases. The only struggle that
Screwtape faces is the Enemy . The Enemy empowers The Patient to resist the temptations laid
before him by Screwtape and Wormwood. Though The Patient does resist the temptations presented
to him he is not perfect. The Patient does mess up but then is forgiven by the Enemy and returns
even stronger. As it is seen, anthropology is a key factor in the story of The

The Relation Between Prostitution and Human Trafficking Essay
Although the world is made up of a variety of people, every person is entitled to basic rights.
According to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, all human beings are born free and
equal. These rights apply to everyone throughout the world regardless of gender, race, religion,
sexual orientation, or age. However, although we are born with these rights, there have been many
cases throughout the world where people s human rights have been violated.
The analysis of this essay will focus on the sexual exploitation of women through trafficking and
prostitution within Ireland, the Netherlands, and the United States of America. In 2006 it has been

Ireland is familiar with prostitution. During the nineteenth century, in well known populated cities,
prostitution was apparent. According to William Logan, a mission worker visiting Ireland
claimed that the city of Cork had approximately eighty five brothels, which contained about 356
prostitutes collectively in the year of 1945. Logan also mentioned how young girls were sold by
family members for money. In 1870 the Garda (Ireland s police officials) instigated 11,864 women
because they were assumed to be prostitutes. During the 1800 s Magdalene asylums were also very
common. In Dublin specifically there were at least eleven workhouses, similar to the Magdalene
asylums, attempting to transform prostitutes into proper ladies (Luddy, 1997). The Dublin
Metropolitan Police (DMP) was not proactive during this time either. The DMP were only involved
in prostitution cases if it disrupted the public. The lack of government control over this issue is one
of the main influences that made human trafficking easily available in Ireland. However, it is
difficult to obtain research of trafficking. Before 2008, there have been no prosecuted cases on this
issue in Ireland (Coghlan and Wylie, 2011).
In a recent trip to Dublin I was

Real Business Cycles Hypothesis Sees Cycles
Introduction
Real Business Cycles hypothesis sees cycles as starting in frictionless splendidly focused economies
with for the most part finish markets subject to genuine stuns (irregular changes in innovation or
efficiency), it makes the contention that cycles are predictable with aggressive general harmony
situations in which all operators are levelheaded maximizers (The Economist). In opposition to
what Keynesian, Monetarist, and new traditional business analysts trusted, RBC scholars,
beginning with Nelson and Plosser in 1982, found that the theory that GDP development takes after

RBC models were for the most part fruitful in representing diligence and co movement, yet less
effective in offering persuading clarifications for changes in occupation (Real Business Cycle
Theory).
The Baxter and King paper, Fiscal Policy in General Equilibrium concentrates on four exemplary
financial approach tests inside a quantitatively confined neoclassical model. The creators primary
discoveries are as per the following: lasting changes in government buys can prompt short run and
long run yield multipliers that surpass one; perpetual changes in government buys instigate bigger
impacts than transitory changes; the financing choice is quantitatively more critical than the asset
expense of changes in government buys; and open venture affects private yield and speculation.
These discoveries stem from critical element collaborations of capital and work truant in prior
harmony investigations of monetary arrangement (Baxter King 1993).
In the event that business cycles are brought about for the most part by changes in efficiency,
instead of by money related and budgetary unsettling influences, what part do financial and
monetary arrangements play? In Satyajit Chatterjee s article he examines the likelihood that
countercyclical money related and financial arrangements have assumed a vital part in

  • 4. Who Knew That Consciousness And Moral Responsibility Who Knew that Consciousness and Moral Responsibility was Simple? In this paper, I will explicate the views of George Sher and Neil Levy on moral responsibility. These philosophers present different arguments on determining how and whether an individual can be held morally responsible for their actions and omissions. To begin this paper, I will address the view of Sher, following with Levy s view, and then concluding the paper with a contrast of the two views. George Sher develops his argument in his book, Who Knew?. His main thesis is laid out in the Full Epistemic Condition, also known as the FEC. Sher s FEC proposes three distinct conditions under which a person is morally responsible, with the second condition having two subsets. To be held morally responsible, an individual must fulfill only one of the three conditions. The first two conditions are distinct conditions under which a person can be held morally blameworthy, while the third condition specifies conditions under which a person can be held morally praiseworthy. To explain Sher s view, consider a woman who owns a cat, is married, and has a child. Every evening during dinner, this woman opens the window while she cooks and gives most of her attention to her husband and child as they talk to her about their days. The family s cat remains in the kitchen with them as they prepare for dinner. Whenever the cat approaches the window, the woman normally yells at the cat to get away from it, in order to keep it safe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Global Warming is False Essay A Flawed Opinion Whenever someone thinks of CO2, they think of global warming. They are reminded of Al Gore and his stance on global warming and they automatically think it is true. He has a lot of evidence to back up his theory about how global warming exists and that it is the reason animals are going extinct and also why the climate is changing. Well these facts are wrong and there is evidence to prove it. Global warming is not real and the Earth might even be in a cooling period. There so many reasons to blame people for the epidemic of this false global warming. CO2, a naturally produced gas absorbed by oceans and trees could not be the reason, so what could? Well, nothing can, none of man s efforts to control the climate will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People assume that just because there are clouds of smog over cities and industrial areas, that it is because of all the carbon dioxide being released into the air. There is also type of smog called photochemical smog which was recently discovered in the 1950 s. Aus e tute s The Chemistry of Photochemical Smog refers to photochemical smog as, a type of air pollution produced when sunlight acts upon motor vehicle exhaust gases to form harmful substances such as ozone (O3), aldehydes and peroxyacetylnitrate (PAN). When some see this they think, wow, all the carbon being released from the burning of fossil fuels in cars can lead to these toxic chemicals. That is where they are wrong. Aus e tute also sets apart the type of gasses from cars that cause these chemicals. They explain that, Motor vehicles produce exhaust gases containing oxides of nitrogen such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and nitric oxide (NO). Again no carbon was the effect of a potentially harmful chemical byproduct. Later in his article John Coleman explains some of the main components of our atmosphere. Most of the air we breathe today is mostly nitrogen. He says in page 3 of his article that ...in front of my face contains 100,000 molecules of atmosphere. Of those 100,000, 38 are CO2: 38 out of a hundred thousand. That makes it a trace component...how can this tiny trace disrupt the entire balance of the climate of Earth. It can not. It would take years to study each and every person s life, because there have been so many influential people in the world. One of these extremely important people was Bruce Lee. To win those fights, he would have had to have excellent perseverance. Additionally, when Lee was sent to America by his parents, it must have been very tough for him. Despite this, he built amazing perseverance by moving on with his life, despite being in a completely new place. Finally, Lee built perseverance during his adult career. At one point, he hit a block in jobs (after The Green Hornet ended). Despite this, he was able to persevere until he eventually began to get great acting jobs. Along with perseverance, Bruce Lee also became a very hard working person as he went about his life. One point of his life that built this mindset was when he was working through school. Obviously it is always hard to do well in school, but since Lee went to college that shows that he was willing to work hard. Additionally, all of Lee s success in the movie industry shows that he had a hard working mind set. He would not have been able to achieve the success that he did if he had not worked extremely hard. His qualities show us that if we work hard and persevere through tough times, then we can become extremely influential people, who will positively change the world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Barriers And Challenges To Pursue Of Gender Equality Although gender equality has continued to drastically improve over the years, a glass ceiling still exists. Recent research continues to illustrate that the barriers that professional females face in today s society is tremendous. While the barriers and challenges that professional women face is well documented, it is also critical to evaluate the perceptions of those barriers held by women. In education, men often hold leadership positions. Statistically, superintendents almost always come from teaching backgrounds. When the majority of teachers are female, it is intriguing to ask why the male teaching population tends to be of the select few who ultimately rise to higher leadership positions. According to Wallace (2015), the proportion of females in the superintendency was 23% in 2012 and increases by only 0.7% annually. This statistic is shocking, as it would take approximately 80 years for females to be proportionately represented in public school leadership. It is critical to assess the barriers and challenges females face in regards to leadership attainment. There are certainly internal and external factors that continue to plague this genderdiscrepancy. Furthermore, proportional inequities continue to stem from historical contexts ranging from social and cultural norms to professional networks. Additionally, gender bias and sexism challenges continue to plague female authority figures. While there are many variables contributing to the shockingly low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over 75% of the immigrants are from Ireland and Germany. Now, since it was obviously not a coincidence that 4 million people were added to the United Statespopulation so quickly, you wonder what the reasons were behind their large movement. The Irish had the motivation to move when, in the mid 1840s, a potato blight, caused the famine. In my opinion, our country is populated enough and we do not need people from other countries joining in now. There is a reason that Germans are called Germans, and that Irish are called Irish. It is because of the fact that being a German is because you are from Germany and same with any other country. As long as we are staying in our country, why must others leave theirs? We are called Americans because we are from America and everyone else gets their title because of their nationality, place of birth, or simply where the family originated. • 14. Bilingualism Importance Quynh Nhi Tran P. 4 The Importance of Bilingualism In my life, I must speak many different languages: English at home, with my friends, in public, as well as Vietnamese with family. When speaking to my parents, I show respect and sometimes humor. I often even combine English with Vietnamese. With my siblings and friends, I use sarcastic and understanding tones. In public, I carefully choose my words in order not to offend anyone. With extended family, I quietly speak in the polite Vietnamese that my culture demands. Because I speak a variety of languages, my ability to communicate with others heightens. To me, bilingualism means communicating in public or private languages and embracing its culture. The dictionary definition does not encompass the importance or connotation of bilingualism. MartГn Espada and Richard Rodriguez, esteemed authors, write essays about the role of bilingualism in their lives. Espada s essay, The New Bathroom Policy At English High School , describes the superiority English holds over other languages, and Rodriguez s essay, Hunger of Memory , details the sacrifices of learning English. Both authors speak Spanish and English, have received a myriad of awards for their writing, and have experienced the difficulties maintaining two languages. Each author depicts their definitions of bilingualism. Espada portrays it as the right to speak multiple languages, including keeping and developing a passion for it: Defending the right to use the tongue of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As I previously mentioned before enrolling in this unit I was naГЇve about the system, how it operated, the living conditions of the inmates and the social demographics that contributed to the prisonpopulation. With all of my recent knowledge from the lectures and readings, I was still surprised to find out how much it cost to maintain a person in prison. I was always aware that a proportion of the taxpayers money was spent on prisons but I was unaware of how substantial that amount was. In the 2013 2014 period, 2.6 billion dollars was spent on the prison system in Australia, this roughly equates to $292 dollars per day per prisoner and these numbers are expected to increase. After learning about the concept of less eligibility and the importance of treating inmates in accordance with basic human rights, I do not think that the funding from these facilitates should be reduced. However, I do agree with any scholars in this area who express the opinion that it would be more cost effective for funding to be spent on the early detection of delinquent behaviour than on prisons. If more funding was being spent on early prevention schemes it would be more beneficial to the individual and community as a whole rather than spending that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The institutionalized inequalities are detrimental on an individual basis as well a societal basis. Racism does not only affect the individuals that are being oppressed but also how society functions as a whole. Racial inequalities have manifested in American society in ways that underlies a wide range of societal domains such as housing patterns, educational opportunities, healthcare inequality, and incarceration rates. Current events and experiences demonstrate moreover that racial inequality is still adamant in the American culture. Long after slavery, the Jim Crow Era, and the civil rights movement, racial inequality has taken distinctive forms which affect many people within a racially oppressed group. Racial segregation at large is embedded within a structural matrix that not only permeates in the American culture but in our private and public institutions. Disparities in the criminal justice system and housing patterns remain a key barrier to racial equality in America. In order to eradicate racial inequality, there needs to be policy solutions that place fundamental changes to a system with profound historical origins, one that structurally disadvantages minority groups. • 22. The Theory Of Macroeconomic Analysis Deals With Economic... The theory of macroeconomic analysis deals with economic aggregates. This theory is very critical and important in decision making by planning agents in the economy (Mankiw, 2010). Macroeconomics analysis is of great and paramount importance to the three entities that comprise of any economy who are the households, firms and the government institution. The households in the economy are majorly interested in the macroeconomic analysis to determine and know how a slight change in general price level is likely to affect their welfare through what they can be able to purchase with the same level of nominal income. It is also very crucial to the households in explaining how changes in the nominal interest rates is likely to influence the cost of borrowing money by the households for investment purpose. Macroeconomicsanalysis looks at the aggregate effect of those changes putting into consideration all the households in the economy in order to come up with just one decision measure that is characteristic of the overall economy (Samuelson, 2008). The firms in the economy consult macroeconomic analysis when they want to establish the effect of increased production in the market. They would like to be certain about whether such a move would be welcome by the consumers in the market and whether the consumers would have enough money to purchase the products or whether the aggregate national demand for the product is commensurate to the aggregate level of production for the ... The amount of families who unite and come together to support the studio is extremely heartwarming and I was ecstatic that the recital was finally up on me, but of course I was very unsteady about performing in front of hundreds of people. Months before all the chaos of ordering costumes and preparing for the recital, the dancers all needed to take time and practice. Everyone loved dancing in the quiet little studio each week. The disadvantage was that each time you would step in, the air in the room would feel a lot like getting stabbed in the back with an ice cold knife. The air awoke the dancers and I up as if the air was an alarm that was blaring in our eardrums. The Umayyads and the Abbasids both ruled the same areas, and they both conquered more area to spread their religion. Although they share features they also are different in their government, and the treatment of the social classes. Some similarities between the Umayyads and the Abbasids are their government, where they rule from, and how they treat the people they conquer. For example both the Umayyads and the Abbasids left the monotheistic religions such as the Christians and the Buddhists to their faith. They let them keep their faith, culture and follow their own laws. Also both empires initiated the jizya, a tax, for all monotheistic non Muslims. Religions like the Christians paid the tax so they did not have to convert, and the Muslims collected the money for their own use. People of other religions like, religions of pagan gods, were forced to convert. Another similarity is where the empires ruled from. The essay addresses the security issue of the Right of Return where more than 4 million Palestinian termed refugees clamor to return to their homes that they were displaced from during the 1948 war. Whilst Palestinians demand the right to return to their Israeli located homes under the right of United Nations General Assembly article 11 of Resolution 194, Israelis fear the displacement of their state by a huge and exponential number of Palestinian refugees returning. The essay summarizes historical points that constitute the problem. Analysis of the problems shows that the traditional definition of refugee has been corrupted to suit UNRWA agenda where the refugee number has grown and will continue to grow to absurd lengths. One policy therefore recommends that the UN amend this definition to reflect a more solid reality. An alternate policy recommends that the UNRWA be replaced by its more affective predecessor, the UNHRCA. • 39. Laocoon s Influence on Renaissance Artists The Renaissance was indeed a proud moment in history. It was a time of the revitalization of antiquity, breakthrough scientific discoveries, and profound, inspirational artwork. The desire and urge to establish stronger connections with the classical past brought about the search and discovery of many ancient manuscripts and artworks. One of the most celebrated discoveries occurred during the height of the Renaissance: The Laocoon. Perhaps one of the world s most famous Hellenistic sculptures, it was originally located in the palace of Titus. It was then lost for over a thousand years before its rediscovery in 1506. Pope Julius IIimmediately acquired it, and displayed it in the Vatican Museums. The renowned discovery of one of the few... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Trojans accepted the gift, and at night, the Greeks slipped out of the horse and opened the city, which led to the fall of Troy. Laocoon was a high priest of Troy who warned against accepting the wooden horse. Frustrated that the Trojans were ignoring his warnings, Laocoon threw a spear at the giant wooden horse, and spurned the rage of Poseidon (who, along with the other Gods favored the Greeks) to send giant sea serpents to strangle him. One of the major significances of the Laocoon Group was the timing and effect of its celebrated discovery. Prior to its discovery, the only known records of its existence were from ancient manuscripts and records by Pliny the Elder. Buried underground for over a millennium, the Laocoon Group emerged once again after its discovery near the baths of Titus in 1506. This was during the height of the Renaissance, an era of the revitalization of the classics. Due to the strong desire to possess the great works of antiquity, its discovery was an immediate success. Discovering the Laocoon was like discovering the Titantic; an ancient treasure finally revealed after endless years of searching. Pliny the Elder (23 79) was an ancient author and philosopher who lived from the reign of Nero to that of Vespasian. His encyclopedia, Natural History, was a collection of much of the known knowledge of his time. In it, he describes the Laocoon as a work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Religious Conflict in Russia RELIGIOUS CONFLICT IN RUSSIA One of the great ironies of history is that Marxism, an atheistic theory, was first implemented in RussiaВ—a land inhabited by millions of believers practicing most of the world s great religions. In fact, religion is so integral to the culture and history of Russia, it would be impossible to gain a full understanding for the unique character of the country and its people without a careful examination of the religious factors at play throughout its history. As a result, there are more than 100 languages spoken throughout the nation, most tied to the particular ethnic groups from which they sprang. Economics and Education Perhaps the most significant impact of the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 has been the economic chaos which subsequently consumed the country. For five years following the collapse, Russia saw its comparatively developed centrally planned economy contract severely. It was not until 1997 that Russia began to show signs of recovery as a result of its new open market policies. Since that time, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country has grown by an average of 6.7 percent per year, largely on the back of oil exports, as well as a steadily developing service and industrial output. Currently, Russia s GDP by purchasing power parity (PPP) is approximately $1.5 trillion, making it the ninth largest economy in the world and the fifth largest in Europe. The remaining cases contain examples of secret trusts created for a multitude of reasons; for example, there are cases where the testator was persuaded to create the secret trust by a deceitful secret trustee, cases where the testator wanted to change his will at a very late stage and it appeared easier to create a secret trust than to amend the will, cases where the secret trust arose as a result of a poorly drafted will, cases where the secret trust was created in an apparent attempt to avoid tax liability, cases where the secret trust was created as a result of legal advice and cases where the secret trust arose out of the testator s indecisiveness. It is clear that the doctrine was not developed to allow testators to provide secretly for illegitimate families, or indeed for reasons involving the Mortmain Acts. The obvious conclusion to draw is that any failure to perform a secret trust is a fraud, regardless of why the secret trust was created. CONCLUSION From a wide range of available case law it can be safety suggested that secret trusts are enforced on the basis of fraud prevention but the courts remain concerned as to the possible uncertainty and confusion that could be created by upholding a doctrine that completely undermines all forms of formalities. • 42. The Effects Of Whitewashing In Hollywood Given that the media is such a major part of how we see the world, it is important to dig deeper into the message it often portrays. In this day, televisions and cellphones are staple devices in every household, making it a simple and speedy platform to influence individuals of all demographics. Hollywood in particular has all the potential to provide positive and true portrayals of Asian culture through their work but they continue to do the exact opposite in order to please American viewership which leads to the whitewashing of the material. Race is sadly a factor that goes into choosing the right person for a role and this is where whitewashing comes into play as white actors are casted in roles that were originally meant for non white actors. This can be seen in Hollywood as early as the 1920 s up to modern day America. This can have negative effects on our society and the way we view each other due to misrepresentation and blatant disrespect towards cultures, however it can also bring awareness and spark change due to the backlash it receives at the same time. . The practice of whitewashing is extremely prevalent and has become somewhat of a tradition among Hollywood s many works. Hollywood has a long history of whitewashing that dates back as early as 1919 in D.W. Griffith s filmBroken Blossoms in which a white actor played the role of a Chinese immigrant. During the first two years, children are forming neurons that store and communicate information and synapses (Berk Meyers 2016, p.162). Nature refers to inborn factors influencing physical development stated in Estourgie van Burk 2006 (cited in Berk Meyers 2016, p. 171). Genes are in chromosomes that contain a genetic code, which makes humans who we are (Berk Meyers 2016, p.51). Chromosomal abnormalities also influence physical growth, such as children with Down syndrome have slower motor abilities (Berk Meyers 2016, p. 59) therefore having a significant impact on physical development.
