What Is The Theme Of The Book Of Job
The Book of Job is one of the most thoughtful and wonderful pieces of literature that has ever
come to light. It is the story of the man, Job, who maintains his fidelity to God, even when being
subjected to horrific trials. The work is understood as a masterpiece of Hebrew poetry. To
emphasize that point, the famous French novelist Victor Hugo allegedly has said that if all the
world s literary efforts were to be destroyed, and he could save but a solitary sample, it would be
Job.
Job thinks that his exemplary life makes him deserve better treatment from God than he was
getting, and he says so over and over again. It makes the key message of the book, why do bad
things happen to good people? As bad things are happening to Job, the story ... Show more content

But transforming life s challenges into positive self propellants takes self mastery. A strong
conviction that what he stood for was right gave him strength to carry on, despite his terrible
circumstances. Mandela recited the poem to himself and other prisoners as a way to bolster their
spirits, and motivate them to press onward. He didn t allow fear to paralyze him. He took a stand,
believing in something that he felt was right. He felt empowered by the message of self mastery.
Horace once said, Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances
would have lain dormant. He continued saying, Adversity reveals genius; prosperity conceals it.
There are some people who thrive on adversity. Adversity will define them. They know the
choices: either give in or take hold of the situation and turn it around, and make it better. In the case
of Job, Churchill, and Mandela, adversity brought out the best of them. For some people, all the
adversity they have had in their lives all their troubles and obstacles they needed to overcome have
strengthened them. For true leaders, times of great calamity brought out the best in them. It brought

College Decision Analysis

Decision Analysis
Introduction: An important decision that I have had to make recently is making the decision of
what college I will be attending after I finish here at Blue River. Deciding on what college to
attend next involves a few things; it involves more than one good option, uncertainty or chance to
the outcomes of each option, and contains balance. Picking a college is a hard decision. Choosing
the right college for someone has several things to think about when deciding where you will
finish school, such as the school being to far or to close to home, does it have the major you want to
study, what s the food like, are you playing a sport while attending school, tuition, along with
several other factors. The things that are most important to me when deciding on the next college
are tuition, soccer team, good financial aid options and if they have the major of sports management.
Fully explain situation, all aspects of it that are relevant: Finding a new school is a difficult task,

This statement is an example of a fallacies of probability. A fallacy of probability is an invalid
argument. Such an argument is invalid when the interference from the premises set to the
conclusion violates the laws of probability. Representative bias in my decision of deciding a

parents ends up figuring out who they are as a person. This is a representative bias because it

Narrative About Jasper
Jasper lives pretty far from my apartment. We ve been driving for about half an hour. So, what s on
the menu? I ask, turning the music down. Jasper likes a wide variety of music but his favorite is
old bands like AC/DC, The Beatles, Guns n Roses, The Red Hot Chili peppers, and Bon Jovi. I
would have taken Jasper for the type of guy to like nothing but classical music. I guess I shouldn t
judge a handsomely dressed book by its cover. It s a surprise. He answers. Is it a surprise or do you
just not know yet? I ask. He laughs. The second one. He answers and turns the music back up.

market for agricultural and construction equipment? Do a five forces analysis and identify the
key driving forces and key success factors to support your answer. After looking into the Balance

forces are: Supplier power. Deere managed to keep its other competitors from driving up the price
because of suppliers pricing by building its own supply channels. In each of its six identified key
regions Deere established manufacturing plants that supported its main production assembly line.
For example Deere built plants across the U.S.A (Iowa, Illinois, North Dakota, Georgia, Louisiana,

Argumentative Essay On Wild Pigs
Unlike their counterparts in the southern United States and their native cousins in Eurasia, wild
pigs (Sus scrofa) habitat use and selection have yet to be studied in Canada. Use being defined as
the proportion of recorded locations within a given habitat (Manley et al. 1993) and selection as
the proportion of recorded locations within a habitat divided by the proportion of the habitat
available within the home range (Manley et al. 1993). Wild pigs were first introduced to North
America when they were brought the United Statesin the sixtieth century from Eurasia (Brook Van

They are successful invaders due to their high adaptability to novel environments (McClure et al
2015; Michel et al 2017) and food sources (Stolle et al 2015). Wild pigs also have a high
reproductive rate, with females averaging 5.6 fetuses in Saskatchewan (Koen et al. 2018), though
it is important to note that this value is from a small sample size and was not determined to be
statistically significant (Koen et al. 2018). It is however the only estimation of wild pig
reproductive rate available in Canada. High birth rate plus a quick gestation period that allows
pigs to potentially breed at least twice a year (Bieber Ruf 2005), coupled with the fact that wild
pigs have no natural predators in Canada, population growth and expansion is inevitable. Pigs
are known to be carriers and transmitters of a number of diseases like swine brucellosis,
pseudorabies, and Escherichia coli (Michel et al 2017). All of which pose potential health risks
for not only livestock and wildlife but humans as well. Second, it is well established that wild
pigs contribute to the billions of dollars in agricultural damage done by invasive species in the
United States each year (McClure et al 2015). While claims of reported crop damage in Canada
associated with wild pigs has been minimal to this point, the ever expanding populations all but
ensure that crop damage claims will increase

Henderson Levee Diversity
Diversity of species along an environmental gradient on the Henderson Levee
Abstract
Habitats that contain an environmental gradient, such as the Henderson Levee, attribute to a
diverse speciation of plants. There are multiple factors that determine the assortment of species
along a disturbance gradient, including competition and the availability of nutrients, water, and
light. This paper focuses on the differences in diversity and composition of species in response to an
environmental gradient. Three parallel transects were measured along the Henderson Levee and the
stems for each species of plants were counted within sampling intervals along those transects.
Statistics were used to calculate diversity and to determine how the species changed along the
gradient. The diversity of plant species was determined to be highest at the top of the levee for
transects 1 and 3 and highest at the bottom of the levee for transect 2.

For wetlands, it has been found that richness and species composition is related to flooding
frequency and seasonal water levels as opposed to the availability of nutrients (2). For floodplain
habitats, the composition of species is related to flooding and the availability of light (2). The
arrangement of plant species can be explained by the number of floods that occur as well as the
texture of the soil, with wetter soil near the canal and moist, dry soil towards the top of the levee
(6). In this type of environment, vegetation generally becomes more abundant going up an
elevational gradient from the canal to the top of the levee (1). It is hypothesized that if a floodplain
wetland habitat has an environmental and elevational gradient, then there is a difference in the
diversity of plant species and richness across that gradient, with a higher species composition and
richness at higher

Essay about Jacob A. Riis
Jacob Riis book How the Other Half Lives is a detailed description on the poor and the destitute
in the inner realms of New York City. Riis tries to portray the living conditions through the В‘eyes
of his camera. He sneaks up on the people flashes a picture and then tells the rest of the city how
the В‘other half is living. As shocking as the truth was without seeing such povertyand horrible
conditions with their own eyes or taking in the experience with all their senses it still seemed like a

Although he does possess quite a bit of bigotry that boarders on the line of prejudice when it
comes to African Americans he recognizes that they are suffering from racism and he sympathizes
with them. With his sympathy comes an attitude of superiority, he looks down on the people in
poverty because he was once there and knows with hard work, like he has done, you can pull
yourself up by the bootstraps and make something better with your life.
Riis covers many aspects of the poverty that has stricken the tenement lodgers but when talking
about one end of the spectrum (poor) you also need to discuss the other (rich). With out telling
people how the other half of the other half lives he s leaving out a crucial part of how people live
in New York. By avoiding, that topic he s giving the illusion that all people in New York live in
such cramped housing as tenements. When in reality New York was and is presently not composed
of strictly tenement housing. There was a В‘rich part of town where the thought of not having any
money was never even contemplated. In addition, where the industrial revolution only touched
higher societies on positive outcomes such as economics the industrial revolution only made it
harder for the immigrants to get ahead. By this, meaning, that they worked harder, got paid little to

The last of the Mohicans review The last of the Mohicans was a movie that really appealed to
me from the beginning because of the heroism and the action into it. The main characters in this
movie were Daniel day Lewis as Nathanial Poe (Hawkeye) and Madeline Stowe as Cora Munro.
The movie could be described as a romantic action like a Spiderman or a superman movie always

has begun which is during the very early stages of planning. The survey involves a number of
different things like the internet, books, maps, geological maps and council offices which all play
a part within the survey. A good starting point is to consult a number of large scale maps of the
proposed site to check the site boundaries, building lines, existing buildings and other man made, or
natural, features which will affect the future buildings. A comparison with older maps may give

P1.2:
Ground investigations are a crucial part of the survey as they determine the nature of the land and
explains the different types of soil which helps identify the type of foundations that should be used
or how water absorbent the soil is. A few stages of a ground investigation include; Trial Pitting,
Dynamic Probe testing/Sampling, Cable Percussive Boreholes and Rotary Boreholes.
Trial Pitting Trial pits can easily be performed by hand but it will take triple the amount of time
and you won t be able to get a good depth to get a good samples. Trial pits are usually dug
mechanically because it is finished much faster and can be dug a lot deeper. Trial pits are
normally excavated at 4.5m deep as this provides a good insight of what the foundations will be
sitting on and it provides information if deeper foundations are needed. The advantages of
machinery is that greater depths can be achieved which would result in a more detailed soil sample
test etc. A disadvantage of this would be minor ground disturbance which could cause problems.
Dynamic probe testing/Sampling This can be performed with a tracked percussive or pneumatic
samplers which then collect the samples in plastic test

Feminization Of Poverty And Gender Roles Essay
Assignment #4 Feminization of Poverty It is the term given to the trend where women represent a
disproportionate percentage of the world poor. Here are many factors that contribute to this trend.
The factors that got my attention was being a single mother or just being a female. Often now days
society claims to give womanthe same right as man. But in real life woman do not get the same
right as a man. A woman can get to the same position a man is but the struggle and the effort
would be bigger. According to the theory of social roles, genderstereotypes arise as a consequence
of the existence of gender roles social expectations, prescribing a person a certain behavior
depending on his gender. In other words, watching how representatives of different genders deal
with different things, people conclude that they are fundamentally different from each other. At the
same time, gender stereotypes are the mechanism for maintaining gender roles: beliefs about the
unique qualities and distinctive features of a particular gender are used to justify the need to
behave in accordance with the appropriate gender role. The United Nations considers this problem
global and encourages States to modify existing gender model, preserving a system of unequal
values and double standards. In terms of gender mainstreaming, gender based discrimination and
gender inequality are the major problems in the labor market, which leave their mark on the
development of individual regions and the country

Joseph Campbell s Theory Of The Monomyth
What makes a hero? In our current society we tend to have a certain perception on the
fundamentals of what it is to make or be a hero. Through the hit action movies that hit the box
office every year, to the firefighter that risks his life to save a child stuck in a burning house. It is
highly doubtful that anyone would disagree that a that such a fireman is not regarded as a hero. Yet,
when looking into our past and the myths that we hold close to our hearts as well as those that
ancient civilizations held in their beliefs can we categorize all of these heroes into a formula?
Joseph Campbell, a philosopher in the mid 20th century came up with a theory that shows the cycle
of what it takes to become a hero. In understanding his theory this... Show more content on

Happiness Is The Best Thing Essay
For Aristotle, happiness is the best thing, for it is a thing for and in itself. Happiness is derived
from ethics, and ethics is answer to how you achieve happiness. Virtue is a means in which ethics
are preformed and are derived from passions and actions. That is, passions and actions are means in
which ethical virtueis performed in order to gain happiness. Aristotlebelieves that for anything to be
known it must derive from four causes. From these causes we understand what ethicsis and its
relation to the soul, virtue and how these are used to obtain happiness. Though happiness is the
final goal it still must be journeyed through introspective and active movements by the self. The
four causes are a means to argue a philosophical question. They include efficient causes; the
source of movement that will be understood as the why or by which. Material cause is concerned
with the out of which and formal cause deals with form or shape and is understood as the into
which or what was being. The purpose of these causes is to come to a conclusion, the final cause,
or rather an end or goal; the desire that the original philosophical question is concerned with and it
is understood as for the sake of which. It is by these four causes we can understand what ethics
deals with and how we understand it s purpose. Ethics is concerned with what is the good life for
me, and the final cause will be happiness. The remaining causes will help in understanding why
activity and emotions

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Natural Fibers
Natural fibers represent environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional reinforcing fibers
(glass, carbon, kevlar). Because of their hollow and cellular nature, natural fibers perform as
acoustic and thermal insulators and exhibit reduced bulk density [33, 34]. Some of the
disadvantages and limitations of natural fibers, when used as reinforcement for composites, are
related to the lack of proper interfacial adhesion, poor resistance to moisture absorption, limited
processing temperature to about 200В°C, and low dimensional stability (shrinkage, swelling).
Researches are being done to improve these properties and are implemented continuously [35, 36].
The fibersurface heterogeneities such as surface defects, impurities, surface flaws, etc. affect the
mechanical properties of the composites remarkably. Modification of fiber surface is generally
used in order to reduce the surface defects, improve the adhesion between the fiber and the matrix,
and hence the mechanical properties of the composites [37].
The disadvantages of natural fibers can be handled by modifications of the fiber but may make
composites expensive. Apart from the use of these fiber composites in outdoor applications, these

Roast Beef Ciabatta $9
I ordered the Roast Beef Ciabatta and it arrived within 10 minutes, the warmth of the bread

Alright, banana bread may sound so ordinary, it being one of the easiest things to bake. But I m

The homemade mildly sour yogurt sauce was what set this apart from the others out there mild
acidity contrasted the sweetness of the banana bread from its bath in toffee syrup and those
perfectly caramelized ripe but firm bananas toppings. The contrast added an interesting twist for my
sweetened buds. Little details matter and the additional toasted macadamias gave this a natural

Sustainable development is the current holy grail of developers planners across the globe. It is a

(congestion, pollution, overpopulation etc.). Sustainable Urban transport sector was chosen to
study compare transport planning, policy implementation of different countries across the globe. It
was found that countries already heavily developed in vehicular mode (private vehicle) is having
hard time shifting modal preference to sustainable urban transport systems (MRT, BRT, NMV); as
this requires huge initial capital investment, enthusiastic public participation political statesmanship
sagacity willingness to face hostile public reaction to change over (ie; Singapore modal shift from
vehicular to public transport) (MoT, Singapore website, 2014). Countries like USA also faces
huge public opposition (perception of curtailment of freedom) legal barrier (4th amendment, US
constitution), (Richard, 2009). USA (San Francisco, Portland, New York, and Milwaukee) has
deconstructed freeways (Norquist, 2000); France (Paris) has converted Georges Pompidou
Expressway into Paris Plage (Paris Beach) (Charles Siege, 2007) and South Korea (Seoul) has
removed Cheonggye freeway to restore Cheonggyecheon river (Natalie, 2013). Achieving the
balance between progress and impact is a delicate dance choreographed through sustainable
development planning, policy and pragmatic implementation. How the described countries are
faring will now be scrutinized.

Differences And Similarities Between The Aztec And Mayan...
Maya and Aztec Comparison Essay
In ancient Mesoamerica, there were two great empires; the Aztec and Mayan Empires. The Mayan
Empire developed in southeastern Mexico, surrounding the Yucatan Peninsula and Sierra Madre
mountains. Similar to the Mayan Empire, the Aztec Empire also developed in Mexico. They spoke
their the Nahuatl language, while the Mayans spoke Hieroglyphics (no exact name). Two
civilizations both used terrace farming and human labor for agriculture. Wars between towns,
cities, and empires did cause two empires to fall, but Mayan Empire mostly fell because of rulers
forcing farmers to farm for them, unlike the Aztecs. Both empires had similarities and differences in
many aspects. In terms of geography, Mayans and Aztecs both settled in... Show more content on

What s more, they all had some sort of volcanic belts. The Aztecs had Iztaccihuatl mountains,
located in the southeastern part of Mexico, and the Mayans had Popocatepetl, also located in the
southeastern part of Mexico. Not just these two, but there were many volcanic belts in the ancient
Aztec and Mayan Empires. As I mentioned earlier in this paragraph, they all lived in a swampy
land. Of course, there must have been some detriments, but they used their swampy lands as an
advantage in agriculture! Also, two empires used human labor when they were farming. As we
learned, Aztecs transported food and farmed using humans, same with the Mayans. Plus, they
used terrace farming as their technique. Terrace farming, aka terracing , is a type of farming
using steps of a mountain or a hill. Believe it or not, they also had similarities with the fall of
them. Leaders poor, catastrophic decisions eventually led to the decline. If Moctezuma II did not
choose to make Cortes and his men stay, Aztec would be still be here... who knows? And for the

Dr. Archie Logan Church History Essay
Church History Notes: Compiled by Dr. Archie Logan Reflecting on the notes of Church History
by Dr. Archie Logan, I am in agreement with the persecution of Christians in the early church as
well as in the church today. In my opinion, Christians have been harassed constantly for their
faith, which leads me to the Book of Psalm 119:86, All your commands are trustworthy; help me,
for men persecute we without cause (NIV). The Christians of the early church (OT) were
harassed for asserting God s truths, commands also adhering to them. There was much suffering
endured by the Jews because of their refusal to embrace idolatry. Looking at this ministry in the
world today it s much the same; Christians standing on the Word of God, living holy are the ones
who get passed over, talked about also treated badly due to their faith also those proclaiming the

Walmart And Macy s Retail Stores
The two retail stores I have selected are JCPenny and Macy s. These two retail stores can be
found together at many malls. For example, Westfield South Shore Mall in Bayshore on Long
Island contains both JCPenny and Macy s. Although they are not directly next to each other
they are most certainly competitors. They contain many of the same brands however they both
have a different approach to how they display the brand. I focused on Levi s for men and within
the Levi s department there was other garments and accessories other than jeans. The assortment
in JCPenny was clearly superior. Other than jeans they had long sleeves, graphic long sleeves,
flannels, winter jackets, denim jackets, socks, underwear, belts, and a variety of hats. Every
section was well stocked and had numerous different sizes. In addition every style was placed on
its correct rack or shelf. Macy s on the other hand, was very unorganized. It was quite hard to
determine what style I was looking at because nothing was where it belonged and there was pile
of pants just thrown onto display tables. However they did have a small selection of ski hats,
very few belts, underwear, thermals, and winter jackets. The only thing that seemed fully stocked
was the men s underwear however I was only able to reach from the side because there was a cart
blocking my reach. The cart was stocked with various different styles and colors of jeans that were
just left there. The layout in JCPenny was much more appealing than

Alice Neel And Schiele Analysis
Alice Neel and Egon Schiele were some of the most daring artists of their time. Neel was
especially known for her uncaring attitude of what was in at the time, while Egon Schiele was
similarly known to paint some of the most bold nude figures of his time. Both painted what they
wanted, not a thought towards what was socially acceptable. They both focused on painting
people around them, or in Neel s case, random people on the street, and Schiele was often
compared to Picasso in his obsession with self portraits. Either way, while Alice Neel and Egon
Schiele were from opposite sides of the planet, they shared a remarkably similar style of painting
and rendering of the subjects in those paintings. Alice Neel wasn t noticed until much later... Show

In Andy Warhol we see a sense of shame, but also acceptance and contentment by the light clasp
of his hands, and the slight straining of his shoulders. His eyes are closed, which could either be
out of fear of being seen, or a sense of peace at finally being seen. His lips are delicately pursed,
which, again, shows that he could either be fighting the urge to cower and hide, or his own
frustration with this desire, and his determination to continue. In addition to these many subtle
expressions of emotion, we know that the actual man was known for his cool and confident
attitude, which tells us just how much of a big deal his utter vulnerability truly is. Neel has
stripped all outside masks, and has unearthed the frightened, old man beneath Warhol s suave
persona. Conversely, we see nothing but aloofness and an impassioned gaze within Schiele s
Self Portrait with Chinese Lantern. Schiele has drawn himself looking at the viewer with his

Google Books and the Controversy
Google Books and the Controversy
The progress in relation to Google books has of late sparked a cause for closer look in relation to
the issue. All these problems have emanated from the argument by Google in the year 2005, that
the company would start a scanning process on books and digitalize them in order to create a web
based library for the world. By the year 2011, Google had gone ahead and rolled out this plan
working with various partners in the scanning certain books and availing them online. Google books
have faced controversy because of various issues such as copyright infringement. As pertains to
copyright infringement, there has been raging debate that Google was violating the provision by
scanning contents of books whose authors had not died in the past 70 years (Baksik 405).
There have also been issues regarding censorship and invasion of privacy, which probe a closer
look into this issue. Economic implications have also been among the important mention as
pertain to Google books with incisive looks also essential to help gather all the essential details.
Controversy has also stemmed in the basis of agreements, which seems to give Google an upper
hand in the arguments, an issue which is believed to be unfair to other players in the agreements.
Thus speaking, it can broadly be accepted that there are serious issues pertaining Google books that
have to be resolved if fairness is to be realized.

The super Bowl is an American sports event i.e. enjoyed the most byamerican people. American
Super Bowl sometimes becomes very dangerous for players as it involves greater chances of
accidents. In the year 1998, Terrell Davis a player from Denver Broncos, got injured and fainted
in the field while carrying the Super Bowl in his hand (Walker 72). This incident led to several
complications and the player finally recovered completely after a good amount of time.
A similar accidental case occurred in the soccer field and famous sportsman Anthony Van Loo
fainted in the field because of his pre existing heart condition. Anthony experienced the devastating
moment in his life and he could not continue with his football career further due to the incident.
These three incidents of sports illustrates that injuries can be unpleasant in any sports given and
athletes have great amount of risks while they continue their game in the field, in order to amuse
their viewers (Bird 91). Apart from the examples mentioned above, there are several small and large
accidents that have occurred in the past and they have made the life of sportsmen bitter and even
their future uncertain, with respect to their ability to work.

Pros And Disadvantages Of Delusion
Delusions
Variable Disadvantage
Delusions are beliefs that have no basis in reality. The character refuses to abandon such beliefs
even in the face of evidence to the contrary or at best comes up with rationalizations to explain
away any contradictions.
Prejudice: The belief that a group of people has certain characteristics. While everyone has some
prejudices in some way or another, a delusional person staunchly holds to these beliefs. In some
cases, the person refuses to trust or befriend any member of such a group, regardless of the merits
of the individual person. Such a Delusion is worth 1 to 3 points, depending on how intense the belief
is, how large a group it applies to, and how it dominates the character s life. At the 1 point level, the
character could be an Archie Bunker type bigot; at 3 points, he would be a rabid Human/Faunus
supremacist.
Delusions of Grandeur: This person thinks they are somebody far greater and more powerful
than they really are. The most common type has an exaggerated sense of overconfidence: I am a
genius, but nobody understands me which is why the best job I ve held is the cashier at a 7 11 (1
point); I am the Messiah; prepare for the Second Coming! (3 points).
Phobia: This Disadvantage is worth 1 to 3 points depending on the severity. 1 point represents a
mild discomfort while 3 points represent an intense fear, maybe even to the point of anxiety.
Emotional Problems
Variable Disadvantage
Those with Emotional Problems react in unreasonable ways to some situations. The reaction can be
anger, sadness or anguish, typically more extreme than normal. These emotional problems can be
triggered by distressful but relatively ordinary events in normal life; they prompt a very strong
reaction.
Fear of Rejection: This person is afraid of rejection. People with this problem may be afraid to
make friends or approach people they are attracted to. If their fears come true they will harbor a
great deal of resentment. This is a 1 point Disadvantage.
Depression: This character s emotional problems make the very act of living seem like a hard
chore. Common symptoms of Depression include sleep problems, severe procrastination, and a lack
of interest in anything. A character with

A Comparison OfThe Legends Of King Arthur And Merlin
The King Arthur story takes on many perceptions and interpretations. These perceptions and
interpretations can be very different. The show Merlin is an adaptation of the King Arthur story but
Merlin is the main hero in the story not King Arthur. In the book, The Legends of King Arthur and
His Knights, the main hero is King Arthurnot Merlin. These two versions both incorporate King
Arthur s last battle but are both very different. Merlin and The Legends of King Arthur and His
Knights are different by Merlin tries to save King Arthur from dying but in the The Legends of
King Arthur and His Knights Merlin is not even mentioned.
The death of Arthur is different in both texts because the show wants to appeal to a bigger
audience. The main difference is that in The Legends of King Arthur, Arthur dies right after he
gets stabbed from Modred, but in the show Merlin, he lives for a another couple of days while
Merlin tries to find the place where Arthur will be saved. Merlin showed Arthur s death the way
it did because they wanted the audience to be on edge. In the show, Merlin is the main hero and
reveals that he has magical powers to Arthur while Arthur is dying. In the book Merlin is never
mentioned and never was this close to Arthur. The show focuses on Merlin being the main hero
because they wanted to portray that a common day person can be a hero. Merlin has magical
powers and the show is based off of these magical powers. For example, in the middle of King
Arthur s last

Comparing Novel and Film Version of Snow Falling on Cedars
It is no easy task to create a work through writing or film that has an impact on society. In writing,
one must discuss and analyze a relevant topic that will have an impact on the readers. One must

bitterness toward Hatsue for ending their childhood romance. In delving deeper into the issues that

Snow Falling on Cedars explores human emotion and behavior with astonishing accuracy.
In the novel, David Guterson spent significant amounts of time exploring the way language can be
used to convey a story line. Guterson went back and forth with scenes from past and present in the
novel, combining both and portraying them thickly with literary devices. One of the most
predominant literary devices in the novel was the use of imagery. The prevalent image of the story
is the snow as it fell upon the cedars that populated San Piedro Island. Guterson invoked this image
on page after page throughout the novel, making it apparent that the snow veiling the cedar forests
could be a metaphor for the way prejudices veil honesty and truth in human behavior. The fact that
the island was stricken with the worst snowstorm in twenty years during Kabuo Miyamoto s trial

Comparison Of The Ebola Virus
Essay 1;2014 Comparison of the Ebola outbreak and the CDC study module for Gastroenteritis at a
University in Texas
1) Ebola Virus Belongs to the family Filoviridae. It has a single stranded sRNA genome, so it
uses a RNA polymerase to create the +sRNA template, which acts as mRNA inside the host cell.
The envelope is made up of peptidoglycan; the structure is made up of 7 structural proteins and 1
non structural protein. This means it is an enveloped and susceptible to the outside environment.
The Ebola virus replicates in Monocytes, Macrophages and Dendritic Cells. When the Ebola

These symptoms are also similar to the symptoms caused by the common cold or the flu. Most
people are not going to be running to the emergency room if they have a slight fever, headache,
or nausea. This can make it difficult to contain these viruses once an initial infection happens in
the host. An infected person may travel to another area unaware that they are carrying one of
these diseases. Both of these viruses do not have a vaccine or real treatment. The best ways to
treat these are to let them pass and allow the immune system to fight the virus off. Norovirus is
not as serious as the Ebola and most of the persons infected can fight it off in a few days. Getting
rest and keeping the body healthy. The Ebola is more serious, the fatality rate according to
WHO is 50%. The best way to handle this is to isolate the person and give them IVs and hope
their immune system is strong enough to fight off the virus. If they can fight off the virus they
will recover, but if not then the virus kills the host. Since Ebola has no cure this plays to the
advantage of controlling the virus. When someone has contracted the virus action is taken very
quickly to isolate and quarantine. The source of the virus is put as top priority to stop the spread.
Because it is so serious controlling it when it arises is the number one objective. The Norovirus is
foodborne virus. So tracking the source and removing it in

deemed important in a particular individuals life and norms are the expected way individuals
should act in given circumstances. We all have cultural differences which provide us with more
diversity in the way we see the world and the way we think. A few major characteristics of culture

In America alone, we have so many different cultures that allow us to build diverse communities
and appreciate new things. Culture is essential because it defines an individual s identity. It helps
us connect to one another and share the same values. It bonds us with a group and links us to our
past. Culture is very meaningful and shapes us into who we are. It instills different morals and
traditions into our lives that get passed down from generation to generation.
What are some of the unique aspects of the police culture? How do they impact the police role?
Working as a police officer is associated with a lot of stress and tension. Officers encounter
countless dangers on the job and have a lot of pressure put on them to fairly serve and protect
communities. All these aspects of police work shape police subculture and how officers use their
powers. Typically, police culture is associated with cynicism, social isolation, and secrecy. Police
culture is unique because it is influenced by a number of factors and hostility from the public has
a major toll on an officer s values. All these factors influence how the police view the public and
how they view their colleagues. They have strong loyalty among themselves and protect each other
at whatever cost known as the Code of Silence. Loyalty matters more than anything to an officer
this can take a toll on building personal relationships outside of the workplace and learning how to

Argumentative Load Theory Paper
It is a hot afternoon, you come home no AC but you have a small fan. As usual, you turned it high
and seat in front of it seeking cooling. We can both agree you did not have to think a lot to put that
in to your imagination. Communication sounds pretty simple but those that assume it is simple are
usually the ones who communicating skills are difficult to understand. It s not always about
presenting a messagethat makes it valuable, it is how that message was communicated that
determines the value. The value of message is based on how much of the information is retain by

Superman And Me Sherman Alexie Analysis
Family values have an enormous impact on children. These impacts constantly reveal altered
outcomes. In the essay Superman and Me, a Native American boy is empowered by his heritage
to break through stereotypes of intelligence. Likewise, Stone Soup presents a single mother who
breaks through stereotypes to see her differences as a normality. Although both of these authors are
faced with harsh situations, these essays lead to unlikely empowerment in the end. Whereas
Alexie perceives pride as encouraging others to look past stereotypes of race through intelligence,
Kingsolver perceives pride in the strength of a single mother, a mother who doesn t make her
children any less happy. In the essay Superman and Me, Sherman Alexie tells an inspirational story
of how he managed to push through standards and encourage Native Americans to want better for
themselves. The author s parents had a significant repercussion on what he wanted of his future.
Alexie states, We were poor by most standards, but one of my parents usually managed to find
some minimum wage job or another, which made us middle class by reservation standards... We
lived on a combination of irregular paychecks, hope, fear, and government surplus of food. (Alexie).

Annie managed to get Helen into Perkins collage. As a matter of fact Annie did so well teaching
Helen that when it came to her exams Helen received the highest test scores. When Helen was
little she had terrible manners. She ate from other people s plates, so whatever she smelled and
liked she just grabbed it from your plate and ate it. Helen didn t use napkins, forks, knives,or
even a spoon. Well that was until Annie arrived. When Annie had her first meal with Helen she
saw the way Helen acted. Annie was very well not pleased. Annie saw Helen go to everybody s

Helen attempted several more times Annie sent every one out of the room. Helen began
pinching and slapping but Annie very well did back. After several hours though Annie managed
to get Helen to fold her napkin and use silverware. Meanwhile, a couple weeks after Annie began

Big Fish Quotes
Big Fish produced by Tim Burton consist of much spiritual significance. For example, one might
think the fish was a symbol of Christianity, because of the Jesus fish that we often see on bumper
stickers, but there is one true spiritual significance. The one true spiritual significance that sticks
out the most is the Christ like figure. Edward Bloom, the main character represents the Christ like
figure in this film. Like Jesus, Edward Bloom is a storyteller who tells the stories of his father.
Storytelling is a strong trait that is used in every conversation today. In the film, a quote says A
man tells stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him and he becomes
immortal. essentially this quote is saying that

Sewing Is An Art That I Have It
Sewing is an art that I have yet to master. As a Fashion Merchandising major, it is better to be
safe than sorry. Meaning, the more crafting skills you possess, the better. Missing out on career
opportunities due to lack of skills is not acceptable for me. I aim to gain vast amounts of
knowledge of the creation process of fashion through this project. When people first started to
wear clothing, about 60,000 years ago, they did not sew at all. They wrapped themselves in
leather and furs to cover up. When people first began living in Central Asia, where the
temperatures usually were lower, people wanted stronger clothing. They began to use sharp pointed
sticks or stone tools called awls (pronounced OLLS) to poke holes in their clothes so they could
run the cords through the clothes instead of just around them. They used the awls to poke the end
of the cord through the holes, too. Both Neanderthals and modern people used awls this way (K.E.
CARR). In the 20th century, sewingmachines became more affordable to the working class.
Therefore, the demand for sewing patterns increased. Textile industries in Western countries have
declined as textile industries compete for cheaper labor in other parts of the globe. According to
the U.S. Department of Labor employment of sewers and tailors is expected to experience little
or no change, growing 1 perfect from 2010 to 2020 . Textile workers who apply tasks with sewing
machines, or make projects by hand, are still a vital component of

Allied Counter Invasion In WWII
Allied Counter Invasion in WWII
On September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany began what would be later known as World War Two.
After the Axis invasion in China and in parts of Europe during World War Two, the Allies began
to push back. One way the Allies pushed the Axis back was the Allies were going through Africa
to the boot toe of Italy to capture Italy. Another way the Allies fought back began on D Day when
America and Britain pushed their way into France from Britain and at the same time, the USSR had
been fighting the Nazis and began to take back their land pushing toward Germany. The final way
the Allies kept the Axis reign to a minimum was the battles in the Pacific Ocean and the
Surrounding countries. Then America would island hop to get ... Show more content on

The Americans began to regain control of Japanese controlled islands. One group of soldiers went
south by Australia and began to push up. Another group began to push east, toward Japan. Then,
President Franklin Roosevelt died in office, leaving Vice President Harry Truman to decide how to
make Japan surrender. Truman then met with the Allied leaders and sent a message to Japan asking
them if they wanted to surrender or face utter destruction. The Japanese decided not to surrender
and America dropped the first two nuclear bombs on Japan. The Japanese then surrendered,
bringing the second World War to a close.
The Allied powers in World War Two had a great problem on their hands. They had to stop the
Axis powers from taking over more of the world. The Allies had four different fronts to attack the
three main Axis countries and they finally overthrew all three. Even with the war over, the effects
and the advancing Cold War were far from over.

Benefits And Benefits Of Forgiveness
One the other hand, there are various benefits from forgiveness. An individual who is more opt to
forgiving is more likely to have better mental, physical, and emotional health. When an individual
grants forgiveness, it is seen to build on the core of empathy which involves positive emotional,
behavioral, and cognitive responses (Witvliet et al., 2001). Bringing upon a more positive and

Individuals who were more likely to forgive were also seen to have higher levels of empathy.
Empathy involves the thinking of the offender as a human and trying to understand what
influenced their behavior. While also offering the offender compassion is seen to reduce the intense
arousal and negative grudges while offering a more positive emotion towards the offender (Witvliet
et al., 2001). This is seen to decrease the negative emotions that one feels towards another which
will help them develop more positive emotions. With forgiveness there is also the connection of
decreased chronic blaming, anger, hostility, increase in optimistic thinking, an increase in social
support, and transcendent consciousness with forgiveness (Lawler et al., 2005). Forgiveness has a
lot of benefits to an individual overall emotional well being.
Mental/ Physical Health Benefits
Has also been proven to be various mental and physical health benefits from forgiveness.
Forgiveness is seen to be an important positive antidote for hostility, which is seen to improve
coronary health by reducing the physical effects that anger and hostility inflict (Lawler Row et al.,
2008). Most of the negative consequences of un forgiveness, are seen to be reserved from the
benefit of forgiveness. An individual who is seen to

Juvenile Justice And The Juvenile Court System
Placing a juvenile in a detention center early in the court process increases the risk that youths will
be found to be delinquent and damage their prospects for future success. A majority of the youths
that are placed in these facilities pose little or no threat to the public and essentially do not need to
be there. This portion of the juvenile court process is detrimental to the future and mental aspects of
a youth s life. We desperately need to change the way that we handle the juvenile court system
because we are only reinforcing the delinquent behavior that these youths have been exposed to. We
need to focus on the rehabilitation and prevention efforts for these youths not the punishment aspect
and until then (insert a better ending). The state juvenile corrections systems in the U.S. detain
youth in several different types of facilities such as, group homes, residential treatment centers,
wilderness programs, boot camps, country run youth facilities, and some of these are locked or
secured through staff. Richard Mendel stated (2012), The latest official national count of youth in
correctional custody, conducted in 2010, found that roughly 48,000 U.S. youth were confined in
correctional facilities or other residential programs each night on the order of a juvenile
delinquency court (p 1). This amount of juveniles in these facilities is roughly the same amount of
adolescents that live in cities like Louisville, Kentucky or Portland Oregon. America relies heavily

Example Of Discourse Community
INTRODUCTION: Finding people who share common interests and enjoy the same activities as
yourself can often be difficult to find, but is necessary to have. Especially during college, a time
where you are receiving your independence, but unsure of what that truly means, feeling lonely is
valid and expected. However, college can offer many resources to aid you in these emotions, by
having plenty of discourse communities you can join, or even offering you the opportunity to
create your own. As quoted by Herzberg in The Concept of Discourse Community, the idea of a
discourse community is not well defined yet (469). Despite the vague concept John Swales offers,
he further goes on to elaborate on what six characteristics discourse communities can be identified
through. A discourse community which one of my roommates participates in is the Vietnamese
Student Association (VSA). The VSA is a cultural club for students at University of California,
Davis, who identify as Vietnamese, and want to come together with others a part of the same
background. The VSA is a perfect model of a discourse community, as it passes the checkpoints
Swales provides to identify one.
METHODS: To fully understand how the Vietnamese Student Association operates and functions
as a discourse community, I interviewed a member of the club, Alyssa. Alyssa is a first year
biology major who just joined VSA a mere month and a half ago. Despite her short time
participating in the club, she was still very

The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald is seen as one of the greatest American writers, admired by his contemparies and
by modern audiences of today. Fitzgerald was very much in tune with the early twentieth century
American culture. He is credited with capturing the Jazz Age , which he described as a
generation grown up to find all Gods dead, all wars fought, all faiths in man shaken . Fitzgerald
observed the culture around him with a critical eye. Despite being able to depict America like few
others could, many see Fitzgerald s writing as an indictment on its values.

I suppose he d had the name ready for a long time, even then. His parents were shiftless and

Preparing For Senior Night, My Last Home Volleyball Game
Preparing for senior night, my last home volleyball game, I found myself sorting through pictures
of my high school years and noticed a recurring theme: a bittersweet memory, my walking boot.
As silly as it may sound, I have derived much of my identity from this boot. When I meet new
classmates, they ask about the status of my injury. How is your foot? Can you play volleyball
again? I cannot blame them for noticing my bum ankle. For more than a year (on and off), a
bulky, grey piece of plastic masked the lower half of my leg. For a part of this time, I even rode
through the hallways on a rented medical scooter that my friends affectionately dubbed Ricky
Bobby. This boot, the thing that once caused me anxiety is now a symbol of my determination.
Additionally, it opened my eyes to the field I want to spend the next chapter of my life pursuing:
physical therapy. The summer before my junior year, I worked harder than I ever had to train for
my first varsity season. Immediately after an intense run, I would go home and ice my ankle to
relieve the pain that I ignored during the workout itself. Push through; I would tell myself, be
strong! I thought that I was being strong by working through the pain. Sports media always praises
the athletes who played the championship game on a broken foot or a sprained ankle, but you never
hear about the kid who trains through the everlasting two a days of preseason and never makes it to
the first game. I thought that by pushing

Blaise Pascal s Argument For The Existence Of God
Blaise Pascal was born on June 19th 1623 in Clermont Ferrand, France. As he established himself
to be a prominent French mathematician, physicist, inventor, and religious philosopher, he
advanced the fields of study in all of these subjects, such as inventing the calculator or improving
the study of fluids. When it comes to philosophy, he laid the foundation for the modern theory of
probabilities. The idea of Pascal s Wager was one of his most prominent pieces of thought. Pascal s
Wager argues that we don t know whether Godexists, therefore we should play it safe and believe
in him instead of being sorry. Reason can not settle which way people incline, but a belief of a
relevant outcome can. The determination of this theory was based off of finite or infinite gains or
losses. There were four possible outcomes of probability where Pascal used to promote the belief in
the existence of God. His arguments for the existence can be defined between the Super dominance
argument, the expectations argument, and the dominating expectations argument. All arguments
put a wager on believing in God, basically putting a bet on their lives. As philosophers... Show more

Intellectualists state that is is impossible to adopt a belief just because we determine to. Believing
and disbelieving are choices that are made by each individual, no one should decide what people
believe in. For example, if a person walked up to you and said I will pay you one million dollars for
believing that grass is red. Can you adopt this belief by simply wishing to? No, many people
object to Pascal s Wager because of this reason. You can not force a person in believe something
they don t want to. Pascal s Wager gives no legitimate evidence to convince that God exist, it
simply states that we would be well advised to gable in believing for the existence of God.
Evidently, people should not believe in God if they don t already do

  • 2. What Is The Theme Of The Book Of Job The Book of Job is one of the most thoughtful and wonderful pieces of literature that has ever come to light. It is the story of the man, Job, who maintains his fidelity to God, even when being subjected to horrific trials. The work is understood as a masterpiece of Hebrew poetry. To emphasize that point, the famous French novelist Victor Hugo allegedly has said that if all the world s literary efforts were to be destroyed, and he could save but a solitary sample, it would be Job. Job thinks that his exemplary life makes him deserve better treatment from God than he was getting, and he says so over and over again. It makes the key message of the book, why do bad things happen to good people? As bad things are happening to Job, the story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But transforming life s challenges into positive self propellants takes self mastery. A strong conviction that what he stood for was right gave him strength to carry on, despite his terrible circumstances. Mandela recited the poem to himself and other prisoners as a way to bolster their spirits, and motivate them to press onward. He didn t allow fear to paralyze him. He took a stand, believing in something that he felt was right. He felt empowered by the message of self mastery. Horace once said, Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant. He continued saying, Adversity reveals genius; prosperity conceals it. There are some people who thrive on adversity. Adversity will define them. They know the choices: either give in or take hold of the situation and turn it around, and make it better. In the case of Job, Churchill, and Mandela, adversity brought out the best of them. For some people, all the adversity they have had in their lives all their troubles and obstacles they needed to overcome have strengthened them. For true leaders, times of great calamity brought out the best in them. It brought out who they really were. Self pity is not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

College Decision Analysis Sara Simpson Brandon Gillette Philosophy 08 May 2017 Decision Analysis Introduction: An important decision that I have had to make recently is making the decision of what college I will be attending after I finish here at Blue River. Deciding on what college to attend next involves a few things; it involves more than one good option, uncertainty or chance to the outcomes of each option, and contains balance. Picking a college is a hard decision. Choosing the right college for someone has several things to think about when deciding where you will finish school, such as the school being to far or to close to home, does it have the major you want to study, what s the food like, are you playing a sport while attending school, tuition, along with several other factors. The things that are most important to me when deciding on the next college are tuition, soccer team, good financial aid options and if they have the major of sports management. Jasper likes a wide variety of music but his favorite is old bands like AC/DC, The Beatles, Guns n Roses, The Red Hot Chili peppers, and Bon Jovi. I would have taken Jasper for the type of guy to like nothing but classical music. I guess I shouldn t judge a handsomely dressed book by its cover. It s a surprise. He answers. I don t say anything, I just kiss him. He kisses me back. When he kisses me, it s not like the fireworks some people describe. It s more like magma moving in my chest. After looking into the Balance sheet and financial charts for each top 4 rivals company who are almost dominating the current agriculture equipment manufacturing are not very strong compared to Deer Company. The five forces are: Supplier power. Deere managed to keep its other competitors from driving up the price because of suppliers pricing by building its own supply channels. • 6. Argumentative Essay On Wild Pigs Unlike their counterparts in the southern United States and their native cousins in Eurasia, wild pigs (Sus scrofa) habitat use and selection have yet to be studied in Canada. Use being defined as the proportion of recorded locations within a given habitat (Manley et al. 1993) and selection as the proportion of recorded locations within a habitat divided by the proportion of the habitat available within the home range (Manley et al. 1993). Wild pigs were first introduced to North America when they were brought the United Statesin the sixtieth century from Eurasia (Brook Van Beest 2014; Michel et al. 2017). They are successful invaders due to their high adaptability to novel environments (McClure et al 2015; Michel et al 2017) and food sources (Stolle et al 2015). Wild pigs also have a high reproductive rate, with females averaging 5.6 fetuses in Saskatchewan (Koen et al. 2018), though it is important to note that this value is from a small sample size and was not determined to be statistically significant (Koen et al. 2018). It is however the only estimation of wild pig reproductive rate available in Canada. High birth rate plus a quick gestation period that allows pigs to potentially breed at least twice a year (Bieber Ruf 2005), coupled with the fact that wild pigs have no natural predators in Canada, population growth and expansion is inevitable. Pigs are known to be carriers and transmitters of a number of diseases like swine brucellosis, pseudorabies, and Escherichia coli (Michel et al 2017). All of which pose potential health risks for not only livestock and wildlife but humans as well. Second, it is well established that wild pigs contribute to the billions of dollars in agricultural damage done by invasive species in the United States each year (McClure et al 2015). While claims of reported crop damage in Canada associated with wild pigs has been minimal to this point, the ever expanding populations all but ensure that crop damage claims will increase ... • 7. Henderson Levee Diversity Diversity of species along an environmental gradient on the Henderson Levee Abstract Habitats that contain an environmental gradient, such as the Henderson Levee, attribute to a diverse speciation of plants. There are multiple factors that determine the assortment of species along a disturbance gradient, including competition and the availability of nutrients, water, and light. This paper focuses on the differences in diversity and composition of species in response to an environmental gradient. Three parallel transects were measured along the Henderson Levee and the stems for each species of plants were counted within sampling intervals along those transects. Statistics were used to calculate diversity and to determine how the species changed along the gradient. The diversity of plant species was determined to be highest at the top of the levee for transects 1 and 3 and highest at the bottom of the levee for transect 2. Introduction The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For wetlands, it has been found that richness and species composition is related to flooding frequency and seasonal water levels as opposed to the availability of nutrients (2). For floodplain habitats, the composition of species is related to flooding and the availability of light (2). The arrangement of plant species can be explained by the number of floods that occur as well as the texture of the soil, with wetter soil near the canal and moist, dry soil towards the top of the levee (6). In this type of environment, vegetation generally becomes more abundant going up an elevational gradient from the canal to the top of the levee (1). It is hypothesized that if a floodplain wetland habitat has an environmental and elevational gradient, then there is a difference in the diversity of plant species and richness across that gradient, with a higher species composition and richness at higher ... Riis tries to portray the living conditions through the В‘eyes of his camera. He sneaks up on the people flashes a picture and then tells the rest of the city how the В‘other half is living. As shocking as the truth was without seeing such povertyand horrible conditions with their own eyes or taking in the experience with all their senses it still seemed like a million miles away or even just a fairy tale. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he does possess quite a bit of bigotry that boarders on the line of prejudice when it comes to African Americans he recognizes that they are suffering from racism and he sympathizes with them. With his sympathy comes an attitude of superiority, he looks down on the people in poverty because he was once there and knows with hard work, like he has done, you can pull yourself up by the bootstraps and make something better with your life. Riis covers many aspects of the poverty that has stricken the tenement lodgers but when talking about one end of the spectrum (poor) you also need to discuss the other (rich). With out telling people how the other half of the other half lives he s leaving out a crucial part of how people live in New York. By avoiding, that topic he s giving the illusion that all people in New York live in such cramped housing as tenements. When in reality New York was and is presently not composed of strictly tenement housing. There was a В‘rich part of town where the thought of not having any money was never even contemplated. In addition, where the industrial revolution only touched higher societies on positive outcomes such as economics the industrial revolution only made it harder for the immigrants to get ahead. By this, meaning, that they worked harder, got paid little to nothing, and still had to compensate for the short comings that where being pressed against them because ... Last of the Mohicans Movie Review Essay example The last of the Mohicans review The last of the Mohicans was a movie that really appealed to me from the beginning because of the heroism and the action into it. The main characters in this movie were Daniel day Lewis as Nathanial Poe (Hawkeye) and Madeline Stowe as Cora Munro. The movie could be described as a romantic action like a Spiderman or a superman movie always needs the girl to give motivation to the main character but it is a historical drama. The movie was 112 minutes long, it contains three languages English, French and Mohawk, it was filmed in the USA, it was released in September 1992 and its tagline was the first American hero, it is also based on the novel of James Fennimore cooper. The movie does not harm the native s picture to the world because they were the ones who were weak and hurt in the movie it gave people something to think about like how the English and French could do this to the natives and what are the consequences of the actions that were taken by the French or the British. The movie also gives the feeling of sympathy towards the natives and fills you up with hatred towards the Europeans who invaded the natives land. The movie also shows us the way the natives dressed which were just long pieces of cloths and leather pants which were cut off at the crouch for a relaxed fit, also the way they ate which was hunting deer and elk and gathering berries and vegetables, it also showed their language and a little spiritual scenes when they shot an elk. Since his youth, Tim Delaney was a hard working and determined person which continued to demonstrate during his path. Before starting University, he did labour work which steeled his determination to being paid to think . He showed a lot of flair and creativity during his studies and won a first prize for best business plan. His undergraduate in Entrepreneurship Marketing empowered him with the technical knowledge required to start his own business. Beside George, Neverfail obtained financing from an investor from Seattle, who made an initial offering of $50.000, followed by a second one of $100.000, one year later. In our opinion Neverfail was not ready for the initial external financing, they didn t have the appropriate strategy or innovative projects in that moment. However, to grow the company needed expand its sales (besides the related with big distributors). Therefore, money obtained from Business Angels where invested almost totally into Sales. Looking at the Neverfail s Statement of Operations from March 1994, we can notice that SG A constituted approx. 92% of all operating expenses while the other 8% was generated by R D. In the financial year ended March 31, 1994, Neverfail had a current ratio of 1.12 and the acid test showed that its current assets minus inventories can cover only 0.63 times its current liabilities, what is a bad signal taking under consideration the fact that George acted already in that time as a factor. Since the companyВґs products were directed to a low end market, its gross margin was low (32% of revenue). The survey involves a number of different things like the internet, books, maps, geological maps and council offices which all play a part within the survey. A good starting point is to consult a number of large scale maps of the proposed site to check the site boundaries, building lines, existing buildings and other man made, or natural, features which will affect the future buildings. Trial Pitting Trial pits can easily be performed by hand but it will take triple the amount of time and you won t be able to get a good depth to get a good samples. Trial pits are usually dug mechanically because it is finished much faster and can be dug a lot deeper. Trial pits are normally excavated at 4.5m deep as this provides a good insight of what the foundations will be sitting on and it provides information if deeper foundations are needed. The advantages of machinery is that greater depths can be achieved which would result in a more detailed soil sample test etc. A disadvantage of this would be minor ground disturbance which could cause problems. • 13. Feminization Of Poverty And Gender Roles Essay Assignment #4 Feminization of Poverty It is the term given to the trend where women represent a disproportionate percentage of the world poor. Here are many factors that contribute to this trend. The factors that got my attention was being a single mother or just being a female. Often now days society claims to give womanthe same right as man. But in real life woman do not get the same right as a man. A woman can get to the same position a man is but the struggle and the effort would be bigger. According to the theory of social roles, genderstereotypes arise as a consequence of the existence of gender roles social expectations, prescribing a person a certain behavior depending on his gender. In other words, watching how representatives of different genders deal with different things, people conclude that they are fundamentally different from each other. At the same time, gender stereotypes are the mechanism for maintaining gender roles: beliefs about the unique qualities and distinctive features of a particular gender are used to justify the need to behave in accordance with the appropriate gender role. The United Nations considers this problem global and encourages States to modify existing gender model, preserving a system of unequal values and double standards. In terms of gender mainstreaming, gender based discrimination and gender inequality are the major problems in the labor market, which leave their mark on the development of individual regions and the country ... Through the hit action movies that hit the box office every year, to the firefighter that risks his life to save a child stuck in a burning house. It is highly doubtful that anyone would disagree that a that such a fireman is not regarded as a hero. Yet, when looking into our past and the myths that we hold close to our hearts as well as those that ancient civilizations held in their beliefs can we categorize all of these heroes into a formula? • 17. Happiness Is The Best Thing Essay For Aristotle, happiness is the best thing, for it is a thing for and in itself. Happiness is derived from ethics, and ethics is answer to how you achieve happiness. Virtue is a means in which ethics are preformed and are derived from passions and actions. That is, passions and actions are means in which ethical virtueis performed in order to gain happiness. Aristotlebelieves that for anything to be known it must derive from four causes. From these causes we understand what ethicsis and its relation to the soul, virtue and how these are used to obtain happiness. Though happiness is the final goal it still must be journeyed through introspective and active movements by the self. The four causes are a means to argue a philosophical question. They include efficient causes; the source of movement that will be understood as the why or by which. Material cause is concerned with the out of which and formal cause deals with form or shape and is understood as the into which or what was being. The purpose of these causes is to come to a conclusion, the final cause, or rather an end or goal; the desire that the original philosophical question is concerned with and it is understood as for the sake of which. It is by these four causes we can understand what ethics deals with and how we understand it s purpose. Ethics is concerned with what is the good life for me, and the final cause will be happiness. Because of their hollow and cellular nature, natural fibers perform as acoustic and thermal insulators and exhibit reduced bulk density [33, 34]. Some of the disadvantages and limitations of natural fibers, when used as reinforcement for composites, are related to the lack of proper interfacial adhesion, poor resistance to moisture absorption, limited processing temperature to about 200В°C, and low dimensional stability (shrinkage, swelling). Researches are being done to improve these properties and are implemented continuously [35, 36]. The fibersurface heterogeneities such as surface defects, impurities, surface flaws, etc. affect the mechanical properties of the composites remarkably. Modification of fiber surface is generally used in order to reduce the surface defects, improve the adhesion between the fiber and the matrix, and hence the mechanical properties of the composites [37]. Most people are not going to be running to the emergency room if they have a slight fever, headache, or nausea. This can make it difficult to contain these viruses once an initial infection happens in the host. An infected person may travel to another area unaware that they are carrying one of these diseases. Both of these viruses do not have a vaccine or real treatment. The best ways to treat these are to let them pass and allow the immune system to fight the virus off. Norovirus is not as serious as the Ebola and most of the persons infected can fight it off in a few days. Getting rest and keeping the body healthy. The Ebola is more serious, the fatality rate according to WHO is 50%. The best way to handle this is to isolate the person and give them IVs and hope their immune system is strong enough to fight off the virus. If they can fight off the virus they will recover, but if not then the virus kills the host. Since Ebola has no cure this plays to the advantage of controlling the virus. When someone has contracted the virus action is taken very quickly to isolate and quarantine. The source of the virus is put as top priority to stop the spread. They wrapped themselves in leather and furs to cover up. When people first began living in Central Asia, where the temperatures usually were lower, people wanted stronger clothing. They began to use sharp pointed sticks or stone tools called awls (pronounced OLLS) to poke holes in their clothes so they could run the cords through the clothes instead of just around them. They used the awls to poke the end of the cord through the holes, too. Both Neanderthals and modern people used awls this way (K.E. CARR). In the 20th century, sewingmachines became more affordable to the working class. Therefore, the demand for sewing patterns increased.
