This will attract more customers to rent from Enterprise because one they will help to contribute
to keep the environment clean and also because they have hybrid cars they will also be able to
save money because they will get more miles to the gallon. Political, Legal Politics also plays a
major role in factors that affect Enterprise. Two examples, one if there is a political upheaval in
another country it may cause oil prices to rise and second, if the government decided to raise
taxes on cars. Both of these situations would affect Enterprise because to compensate for these
added costs they may have to increase the cost of rentals and the demand for rentals will go
down, as some consumers may not be able to afford to rent a car. The company should be
focused and aware of what is going on in the world both locally and abroad so that if a situation
occurs or they see where a situation could cause a threat for them they have a system where they
can use the price of one rental to offset the other so that consumers will not have to pay that much
more for a rental. Technological In the 21st century the world has become so technologically
advanced that businesses now need to take part in social media. Enterprise has begun taking part
in this, as they are on Facebook and Twitter. As the case has stated Enterprise is still lacking
certain aspects of social media, example an iPhone app and YouTube, but hopefully within the near
future they will be able to

Harriet Tubm The Moses Of Her People
Harriet Tubman: The Moses of Her People
On a cold night in the middle of winter, a weary slave ran across the field to the woods. There he
met Harriet Tubman, the conductor, and the rest of her sore footed but hopeful passengers who
were ready to start the long, treacherous journey to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Harriet
Tubman, later called Moses , was a runaway slave who came back to her people and helped over
300 of them gain freedom. Harriet Tubman was born in Maryland to her slave parents Harriet
Green and Ben Ross in 1822. Her mother worked as a cook for the Brodess family and her father
was a skilled woodsman who managed the timber work on the Thompson s plantation (Harriet
Tubman par. 2). Because her mother was so busy in the kitchen, Harriet cared for her younger
siblings, till she reached the age of six. When she was six, Brodess hired her out to be a nurse
maid to Miss Susan. She was told to watch the baby while it slept but when the baby woke up
and cried she was whipped. Her next job was to work for a planter named James Cook. She was
assigned to checking the musket traps, even after she contracted measles. Sadly, she got so ill she
was sent back to Brodess were her mother nursed her back to health.
When Harriet was 13 a slave tried to run away. The overseer threw a 2 pound metal weight at him
but Harriet stood in the way. The weight hit her in the skull and caused her to be unconscious for
days. Harriet never fully recovered and for the rest of her

Crime Scene Searches
The Legal Challenges to Crime Scene Searches The examination of the crime scene is the most
vital phase conducted at the scene of a crime. Investigation of crime scene is more than just
showing up, taking a few photos, and calling it a day; there is more to it that. There are some legal
challenges to crimescene investigation that unfortunately as vital as this portion is can get screwed
up sometimes, sometimes even intentionally. Throughout an investigation mistakes, ethics, and
biases play a vital role. When mistakes or bad ethnical decisions occur and individuals either gets
off on a technicality or possibly are falsely accused through bad evidence; these types of blunders
expose why it is critical that a crime scene is processed properly.

Reasons to Not Allow Women in the Front Lines
About 200,000 plus women are on active duty for the military out of 1.4 million serving. Out of the
200,000, 2.7 percent of them make up the front line units (CNN). This is approximately 5,400
women that are enlisted and are fighting on the front lines. This number is very low and should be
much higher. This number represents the idea that the militarybelieves women should not be on
the front lines. Many people in society believe that what the military is doing is wrong and
females should be able to fight on the front lines. There has been an official ban on women fighting
on the front lines by the military. Recently many people are discussing the idea of lifting the ban
and giving females the ability to fight in the front lines while the other party believes that women
should not.
This ban was stated in 1994 when the Pentagon restricted women from artillery, armor, infantry and
other combat roles. In recent years, women had found themselves in combat in Iraq and
Afghanistan and according to the Pentagon, hundreds of thousands of these women have been
deployed in those conflicts (NYTIMESBANLIFT). One major benefit of lifting the ban will be the
amount of jobs that will be created. This will allow a boost in job openings in the army. No matter
how strong you are, the only thing that matters is the will to fight and to protect the nation.
Reasons to not allow women on the front lines
The British military determined that 1 in 100 trained female soldiers

Solution Focused Therapy ( Sft )
Clients come for mental health treatment for a variety of different reasons and there are a variety
of different approaches that can be used to assist those clients. Solution focused therapy (SFT) is
one of those approaches. Examined are the treatment approach of SFT, the theory associated,
evidence to support the treatment, the effectiveness with youth and culturally diverse clients, and
the limitation of the approach. SFT treatment approach can be used with an individual and or
families. The treatment emphasizes the strengths and sources of resiliency that a client or family
has to promote positive change (Hook, 2014). The therapy enables the client to focus on solutions
from the past that could be helpful in creating new realities (Hook, 2014). One of the inventors of
SFT referred to it as a way to carry on a practical conversation with clients (Jong, 2015). The
conversation is used to co construct solutions. The clinician asks questions not knowing the
response (Jong, 2015). Furthermore, the conversations focus on what the client wants to be
different and how to make that occur (Jong, 2015). While using SFT the clinician has several
assumptions that guide the sessions. First, a client is competent to co construct goals (Jong, 2015).
Second, the client is the expert of their own life (Jong, 2015). Third, the problemand solution do not
necessarily have a connection (Jong, 2015). Fourth, the client has to do something different for
change to occur (Jong, 2015). Fifth,

Biography Of Cosimo De Medici
Cosimo de Medici was born on September 27, 1389 in Florence, Italy at the time his family was
middle class bankers. At a young age his father Giovanni, introduced his son to the family business
of banking. As Cosimo grew older, he took on more duties in the family business and eventually
became the head of the bank the family owned. When he was a young man he had an important
relationship with the Catholic Church, at this time the Church was the dominant religious faith of
Europe, the one most powerful men in Europe was the Pope. Cosimo recognized the important role
of the Catholic Church and made a friendship with the Pope. After this relationship the Medici
banks were handling most of the Church s financial accounts. Some... Show more content on

In 1539, Cosimo married Eleonora, who has daughter to the Spanish viceroy of Naples and they
had eleven children, seven sons and four daughters. Two of their sons, Giovanni and Garzia, died
of malaria in 1562, two years later Cosimo stepped down from his government post, and gave
Francesco reins over Florence. In 1569, Pope Pius V crowned Cosimo as Grand Duke of Tuscany,
at Vatican in the Sala Regia in Rome. Cosimo married his mistress, Camilla Martelli in 1570.
Cosimo traditionally has been accused of destroying Florentine liberties, these ancient liberties
are more of an illusion than a reality, he only had to make the formula of those he was evicting.
To not be taken by surprise like the Albizzi, he perfected the system by not changing in the law s
actual administration, but in the spirit of law he changed everything, it was a rule to fill high
official positions by drawing lots. The process was manipulated so that only the names of the men
who could be depended upon were drawn. The independent mood of the two municipal assemblies
neutralized by making an exceptional procedure the rule by dictatorial powers were now granted

Charlie s Intelligance In Daniel Keyes Flowers For Algernon
Why did Charlie want to become smarter? Charlie Gordon wanted to be smarter so he got a brain
operation and he learned a lot faster than normal and then started loosing what he learned and what
he knew before the operation. In the story, Flowers for Algernon Daniel Keyes explains that a
person should not compare his/her intelligance with others.
Charlie supports the theme First, Charlie compaired his intelligance to other people he realized that
he was dumb compared to everyone. Then, Charlie compared himself to Algernon and noticed the
rat was smarter than him and he said i hate that rat. Joe Carp and Frank Reilly support the theme
when they compare their intelligence to charlie s. After, they realized they were smarter than

Reaction Paper On Quidditch
When on Reddit I used the sub section of Quidditch to access more information. One interviewee
from reddit said Communication between clubs is through public Facebook events and directed
invitations, public advertisement such as posters, word of mouth (messaged or spoken), and by
messages (email, FB, WhatsApp) between committees. Communication intra club is generally
through the same means. Communication from official bodies is through the same means, but
using more advanced/expensive means of public communication. Freelance events operate in a
similar way to events hosted by local teams in terms of communication and advertisement.
Communication between teams is relatively the same, it switches between phones and email. The
teams also meet in person to discuss important information. Many of these players use the game as
an outlet from their daily life. It adds an element of fun and excitement to anyone s normal life.
Quidditchteams are not only found in universities. There is a map found on the website that gives
you the location of the team in America, the ones connected to a school and also those who are
not. Teams found outside of schools and universities are organized differently. Official teams
have a captain who, like the president, send out all the information and run practices. Like many
other sports the goal of the team is to win the game. But during my interview I learned the
players are more interested in the social aspect of the game. One of the men I interviewed said
the goal of the club was to improve our skills and have fun playing against other teams. But, of
course the players are hoping to win the game because many are involved for the competition. In
the movie the players are depicted wearing a cape, long pants and padding. The teams in real life
has a slightly different uniform. Because they are not flying the cape is not needed, and padding
is optional. Their uniforms are similar to that of a soccer uniform and usually has their name and
number located on the back. Sports are something normalized by American society. Boston
magazine posted an article saying 45 million kids are involved in a sport while growing up, but
many of these children drop the sport because their parents

Defense Mechanisms That The Child Uses Essay
Part A: Answer any 3 of the following questions: 1) Discuss 2 defense mechanisms that the child
uses, and whether each appears to be adaptive or maladaptive. Susana is in denial of her current
situation and uses crying and hostile behavior as her way of coping. As mentioned by Robbins
et al. (2011), denial is seen as declining to believe or perceive reality. Susana is in denial of her
current situation and tries to remain as the active child she used to be by interacting with her
mother Jacquie as much as she can. A reason why Susana is in denial of her situation is because
she is often eager, has hope, and is happy to see her mother Jacquie when she gets home from
work despite her lack of presence as a nurturing mother. Susana remains optimistic that Jacquie will
be there for her and play with her when she gets home. In this case Susana is trying to adapt to her
environment as much as she can and her efforts show that Susana is a very strong child. In addition,
being in denial of her current situation appears to be adaptive to Susana because she remains
hopeful of her situation getting better despite of the lack of motherly love or lack of attention from
her mother Jacquie. Another defense mechanism that can fit into the previous scenario is reaction
formation . Although, Susana is not given the attention and proper care she needs she is being
happy about her current situation by replacing all the negativity of not socializing with others as
much, not having her mother

Solving the Foreclosure Crisis- Decrease Interest Rates,...
Foreclosure is an important issue in the United States and needs to be ended or decreased
rapidly as soon as possible for the sake of America s economy. The foreclosure of homes has
decreased the state of the economy, and rendered millions of Americans homeless. There are four
key solutions that will stop foreclosures in the United States and able millions of American to keep
their homes. The first solution is having banks lower their interest rates for all citizens who are in
financial need of an interest rate deduction. The second solution is creating jobs that are able to
sustain through an economic crisis. The third solution is for states and towns to conduct public
seminars on how to manage and budget ones finances during financially... Show more content on

The disadvantages of having banks lower their interest rates are, people may feel less obligated to
pay their mortgage payments on time because the interest rates are lower, despite the jobs that are
available through people owning homes there still may not be enough jobs to go around causing
there to be very little change in the amount of homes in foreclosure. Creating jobs that are able to
sustain through an economic crisis will stop foreclosures because if citizens lose their jobs in an
economic crisis they will be able to quickly find another job. This would be beneficial in the fight
to end foreclosures because people would have the funds to pay their mortgage and any other
financial obligations. How one would go about creating new jobs is by developing new
technology, products, and services that would change the way people live their everyday life while
helping them to save money. Hybrid vehicles are an example of a new technology that has
currently kept and created new jobs for citizens in the U.S. Hybrid vehicles are perfect examples
of a new technology that has changed the way people live their life while helping them to save
money. There are two types of hybrid vehicles such as, hybrid electric vehicles (HEV s), and plug
in hybrid vehicles (PHEV s). Hybrid electric vehicles save money through regenerative braking in

How Is Diction Used In Emily Dickinson s Poetry
One of three children Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was an American poet born in Amherst,
Massachusetts, 50 miles from Boston, born December 10, 1830. Dickinson is known for her
unusual social life and reserved lifestyle. Dickinson went to Mount Holyoke Female Seminary in
South Hadley But she only attended for one year. Dickinson was a very rare but bright
individual at a young age Dickinson was not allowed to read different types of literature
including Walt Whitman which like Dickinson was a great poet but was discovered after his
lifetime. Her father Edward Dickinson did not allow any types of inappropriate readings in his
home. He was a father who believed in fairness, and personal restraint to a point. When Dickinson
was young she obeyed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people believed the Dickinson lived a lonely and sad life with no friend or family, always
isolated with no one to talk to. In this last paragraph I started early took my dog will be the poem
that I will be discussing. A 135 word poem with only 6 stanzas it was published in 1896. 10 years
after Emily Dickinson died. In stanza 1 Dickinson provides a calm but yet, magical setting for
this poem. The imagery would make you think that you are walking on the ocean. She creates
the magical setting with the quote the mermaids in the basement that looked up at her.
Dickinson makes you think that you are being watched by a mermaid but we all mermaids are
in our imagination. Dickinson feels as if she is worthy of being looked at by something that s
not real. In stanza 2 Dickinson links magically with real events because the frigates is a type of
warship used in the U.S. Navy. The explanation of a warship suggests that Dickinson is aware of
the magical and peaceful parts of her life, such as the sea and the mermaids, but she is also
aware of reality, such as war. While Dickinson openly sees the warship on the sea, she also sees
the mermaids at the bottom of the sea floor looking at her. Dickinson continues to give the sea
human like characterization. In stanza 3 Dickinson talks about her personal life. Dickinson first
describes the sea as a man; Dickinson makes it very clear that No

Pinderfield Hospital Interview Report
06 01 2017: Interview as a Safety Support Worker for MidYorks Hospital.
I had an interview for a new job today at Pinderfields Hospital. The interview went really well
and the Senior Sister gave me an offer instantly. However upon realising that I could only work
part time (23 hours/ week) and not a bank position, I started to wonder whether the job will be
suitable for me.
Initially was really keen in getting the job because I was fed up of cleaning the wards for
mediocre results. I was even more delighted that there was an opportunity to work at Dewsbury
Hospital, as I missed volunteering there a lot. However I was upset that a bank position was not
available (despite advertising it) and that I had to work contracted hours.
The interview went well. This was no surprise as a lot of the questions were based on protocols
and the job description (which I knew fairly well). There was one question that did throw me;
asking how I could improve a patient s memory (and therefore, decrease the risk of dementia). I
tried to stay calm throughout, however, I did feel like I mumbled a lot in my answers. However the
Senior Sister insisted that I worked on her ward (a stroke rehab), so I m glad I ... Show more content

In A Worn Path by Eudora Welty the protagonist, Phoenix Jackson is on a quest to go to town.
Jackson faces many obstacles in her way. The first obstacle is a hill; at her old age she mentions
how Something always take a hold of me [her] on his hill informing the reader that she has gone
up this hill plenty of times to know that it is a challenge (Welty 457). She then faces an
aggressive dog that makes her fall in a ditch. A white man comes and helps her up and ask her
Anything broken, Granny? almost assuming that she is so old and weak that she might had
broken something (459). The last obstacle she challenges is trying to remember the reason why
she made such a quest. The nurse asks Jackson why she had come to the doctor s office and

Prejudice And Racism Exposed In The Bible
Generalities and blanket statements can be refuted because of the all or nothing aspect, and this
certainly is the case with the statement that everyone is a little bit racist. Racism does exist; that is
without question. However, I am not willing to say that every human has racist tendencies within
his/her heart.
In the beginning of time, God created man in his image (Genesis 1:29, New King James Version).
In both the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 10:17, New King James Version) and the New
Testament (Romans 2:11, New King James Version), we read that God does not show respect or
partiality to any person. Therefore, if man is created in God s image, and God does not show
partiality to any person, then the possibility exists that not everyone is a little bit racist. To say
otherwise is equivalent to saying that God is racist.
Another reason for my belief is my niece. Her dearest friend, Stina, had different color skin. The
two befriended each other in kindergarten and spent many nights together until Stina passed away
seven years ago. To this day, my niece grieves the loss and has a... Show more content on

One reason for this belief is found in Proverbs 28:21. The Bible teaches that showing respect of
persons is not good (New King James Version). This demonstrates that showing partiality, or
superiority as some view racism, came into play because teaching against the behavior is found
here and other places in the Bible. Another reason for the belief can be seen within my school s
walls. Lunch tables filled with various nationalities and kids getting along with other kids
regardless of skin color are common. This type of behavior often stops as the kids age and are
influenced by some source. As a middle school teacher in a K 8 school, I have witnessed shifts in
some students behaviors, and racist tendencies appear out of the blue. Because of the Bible s
teachings and my personal observations, I believe that racism is a learned

Why Homework Is Homework
There are many students who realize that it is important to get good grades. But those students
are also stressed, exhausted, and frustrated. How would you feel if you had to study for more
than three hours a day just to earn a good grade? If you re a student, you probably fall into the
category of those who do not have time to do things other than school. You may also feel as though
homeworkdoesn t actually do anything. Most students get so busy with activities outside of
school and just simply do not have time to do homework or study for a test for 5 hours. So ask
yourself, is all of this necessary? Or can all of this unnecessary stress be avoided?
Of course, nobody truly knows if homework is actually effective or not. It may be stressing
student out for no good reason. Many students said they often do homework they see as pointless
or mindless in order to keep their grades up. Homework should have a purpose and a benefit. It
should be designed to actually teach kids instead of stress them out. It would be one thing to have
as much homework that is assigned if students actually learned or benefited from it, but it doesn t
do anything besides worry them.
In addition, most kids do not have hardly any time to do anything other than school related things.

George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. Just like other presidents,
he had his good times and his bad times. He was the forty third president of The United States.
Because of those who had preceded him in The Oval Office, he understood the importance of
being the Commander in Chief. In all of the events that happened during his presidency he never
gave up on his country (Biography; Gale: Vol 21). The Bush family moved to Texas when
George was only two years old. George Herbert Walker Bush, George s father, had just graduated

some of his classmates believe that being a stickball commissioner and the head cheerleader

faced conflicts at school for being a male cheerleader, and some agree that this prepared him for
the world of politics. Bush himself claims that his student activities qualified him for the White

powerful intellect or dazzling policy but rather an exceptional ability to make friends, work a

he was the governor of Texas, he worked with both Democrats and Republicans, and built

Mars Versus Earth
Mars VS Earth
Mars and Earth are both part of the four terrestrial planets that orbit within the inner solar system
and are from the same origin. They are both made of rock and metal. Mars has an extremely weak
magnetosphere however, so probably doesn t have a liquid metal core. Earth on the other hand
does have a liquid metal core, which provides its strong magnetosphere. Solar radiation can
therefore directly penetrate Mars, while Earth can reflect solar radiation. Mars is much further from
the sun than Earth making it much colder. This distance from the Sun also makes a big difference
in the length of their years, with Mars year being about twice as long. Further, Mars orbit around
the sun is more eccentric than Earth s, which leads ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within this space will have to create our own oxygen and water. Instead of managing resources and
having regulations on how to allocate them, we will have to create all our resources.
Perhaps this will give us a cleaner and simpler way to live, because we are creating only what we
need, and only using what s necessary. I believe political design will be heavily influenced by
efficiency and necessity. And because it s going to be the year 2060, much of our work will be
handled by intelligent machines, so I believe politics will be focused less on crisis issues, and
more on how to manage and foster creativity, and maximize leisure and fulfillment of curiosities
and self expression. I believe on Mars, politics will have a better name. Another thought I m
having is how the need to create and live in an enclosed dome to survive also indicates our
settlement is vulnerable and critical to keep in tact for the good of every single person there. I
believe the very nature of this structure will mandate a greater sense of cooperation. In this setup
I would see that wars starting and shooting bombs at each other would be a self defeating
strategy. I am seeing that s the politics of war and conflict should be minimal if any. Also the
argument about land ownership will definitely matter if we have a limited dome area. But since
there s so much space on Mars, I guess

Mathematics Is That Of Pi ( О )
One of the oldest and most commonly known and used concepts in mathematics is that of Pi (ПЂ).
In the earliest of know human civilizations, people realized the importance of finding the exact
value of ПЂ for practical reasons. Even by todays standards, we still only need to know the exact
value of ПЂ to a few decimal place values, although that hasn t stopped mathematicians from
pursuing a more accurate representation for its value throughout time.
The earliest know approximations for the value of ПЂ have been identified on ancient clay tablets,
dated 1900 1650 BC, from the Babylonian civilization which states the value of ПЂ as (25/8) =
3.125 (4) and from the Egyptian civilization, from the Rhind Papyrus(1650BC), which
approximates the value of ПЂ to be (16/9)^2 = 3.1605. (4) Although these earliest of
approximations have been proven to be within 1 percent of todays actual know value, it marks the
point of obsession for mathematicians to find an exact value for ПЂ.
The next advancement in determining a more accurate value didn t occur for more than another
1000 years. Around 250 BC, the Greek mathematician Archimedes developed an approach using
circumscribed and inscribed polygons to prove that the value of pi to be between (223/71) ПЂ (22
/7) (3.1408 ПЂ 3.1429). (23) This geometrical approach was predominantly used by
mathematicians for the next 1000 years, were in 1630 an exact value of ПЂ was found to 39
decimal palaces. (12)

Homework Is No Homework
In recent years, the argument over assigning students tremendous amounts of homework each night
continues to grow. In a few districts scattered across the country, superintendents refuse to allow
teachers to assign homework to children. The superintendent of Marion County Public Schools in
Florida recently assigned a no homeworkpolicy for the current schoolyear, joining districts in
Massachusetts and Vermont. Most parents and students across the country admired the district s
decision and hoped their own school system would follow suit. A study from Duke University in
2006 showed that assigning homework did improve academic performance, but an excessive
amount could hurt student s mentality. The famous saying practicemakes perfect does prove to help
people achieve their goals. The more one practices something, the easier it will come to them.
Teachers assign homework to give students more opportunities to practice what they have learned

homework becomes unhelpful to the student. For instance, if a math teacher starts on a new

ten problems at the maximum. At that point, the teacher should answer any question a student

My parents taught me to always remember the less fortunate, encourage them, embrace them and
share wisdom with them. The teachings of both parents are quite vivid in my mind even today.
This is why I am such an ardent advocate in assisting underachievers that are below grade level,
and propel them to greater educational opportunities. It is my desire to serve, teach and engage
with the underserved children of Low Income Urban communities. The reason why I am motivated
to become an effective teacher in a public school, is based upon my years of volunteering my time
as a tutor mentor to students who lived in the Chicago Housing Authority buildings. During the
1980 s, under the Chicago Mayor Harold Washington, the passion for volunteering propelled me to

The Ultimate Change In The Ultimate Change
Ultimate Change
O. Henry s short story, A Retrieved Reformation, shows a man s journey through rehabilitation.
In the story, Jimmy Valentine is in jail for robbery. He is then allowed to leave in hope he has
finally learned from his past mistakes, and will stop robbing people to get what he desires.
When Jimmy leaves, he robs many more banks, but does not get caught. Jimmy then goes to a
small town so the cops will not be able to find him, and the town has a train station for him to
make a quick getaway. When Jimmy first arrives to the town, he sees a woman named Annabel
Adams and everything changes. He knows she will not like him if he keeps acting like his old
self. Therefore, he decides he will finally change for the better. He changes his name to Ralph
Spencer and starts acting different. This short story demonstrates change and how you affect
people every day whether you realize it or not. At the beginning of the coming of age story,
when Jimmy gets let out of jail, we see how Jimmy has not changed and he had went back to his
old ways. To show this, the author explains multiple robberies that happened within weeks of
each other. Then, Ben Price, the detective trying to find who has been robbing the banks, realized
it was Jimmy Valentine who was back to his old ways. To show this, the author wrote, Ben Price
knew Jimmy s habits. He had learned them while working on the Springfield case. Long jumps,
quick get aways, no confederates, and a taste for good society

Commodity Vs. Conformity
Let s start by looking at the domesticated dog. Majority of the domesticated dog population s job is
a companion for humans and the minority fulfilling guardian, guide, or protection jobs. With the
job of being a companion the selective pressures (from consumers verses nature) have shifted from
functionality to cuteness. Taking a closer look at the cuteness factor, or movie popularity opposed
to functionality have driven drastic changes in the phenotypic appearance of today s dog.
Unfortunately what the everyday dog owner may not realize is a great majority of their traits that
are considered cute are actually genetic deformities. These deformities would have never persisted

Movie Reflection In The Movie Drai Santoshi Maa
Movie Reflection
In the film Jai Santoshi Maa the goddess Santoshi Maa is depicted in many different forms.
Santoshi Maa is the goddess of happiness , she has many forms in which she provides hope for
the people. She wears an elegant sari using the gesture of blessing with her hand, and at when
she takes her many different forms she has a very calm demeanor which provides hope for her
devotees. This idea of hope is shown in the movie multiple times, Satyawati, who is a very
faithful devotee of Santoshi Maa, falls in love with Birju who comes from a farming family.
The two are able to get married without any problems but the during this time Parvati, Brahmani,
and Lakshmi had noticed that Santoshi Maa had been becoming more and more popular and
they get jealous. As a result of this they decide that they wanted to torture Sarasvati as she was a
big fan of Santoshi Maa. We see this torment right on the day of the wedding as Satyavati s sister
in laws are horrible human beings who do everything in their power to bring her down. They
give similar treatment to Birju as well as they disrespect him, they feed him left overs and call
him useless. This idea of feeding a son of the family leftover as a sign of disrespect is still
prominent in India today, because of the idea that women are suppose to provide the men of the
family with fresh cooked food not leftovers. Eventually Birju gets fed up with all this and leaves
the house to prove his worth. When leaving the goddess send a

Woman Of Algiers Essay
The woman of Algiers was a group of North African woman who inspired Delacroix to paint a
portrait of them during his voyage to North Africa. His painting was a great work of art that gave
us the perfect synthesis between romanticism and classicism and let us view the woman in their
relaxed state in the Muslim Haram. Now Eugene Delacroix wasn t the only one to paint the woman
of Algiers, although he was the creator of the original painting. Pablo Picasso was another
influential painter who was inspired by the painting Delacroix did of the women and decided to
create his own unique version. Both the paintings are well known and of the same scene but have
unique characteristics to make them their own. This essay will go through some of the similarities...

Muslim harems were heavily guarded and so it was difficult to enter one. Delacroix was
fortunate enough to meet a man named Victor Poirel who owned a private harem and so he was
granted his wish to enter and stay for some time and was even given permission to paint several
watercolor sketches. These sketches like mentioned before were painted in morocco, a country
in Northern Africa in 1834. It wasn t made specifically for any one person but was merely a
representation of a lifestyle that was vastly different from the French. Delacroix seemed to be
refreshed by the culture that Morocco presented; from the brightly colored, flowing costumes, the
Arabs and their women, and the enchanting horses all of these seemed to captivate the artist
which inspired this work and many of Delacroix other pieces. From these sketches Delacroix
painted Women of Algiers in their apartment upon his return home and aimed to convey its
serenity and sacredness to the outside world. In the painting we can see four women, three of a
lighter complexion and one of a darker complexion. They seem to be in a relaxed state with their

called antidepressants. Antidepressants first started being marketed in the late nineteen nineties to
adults for the treatment of depression and anxiety. Studies done during this time showed that
SSRI s had less negative side effects compared to depression medications that were already being
used. Prozac was the first drug in this classification of antidepressants. Today not only are SSRI s
used for the treatment of depression and anxiety but they also are prescribed to treat post traumatic

Physical symptoms can include changes in appetite, changes in sleep, vocal outbursts or crying,
difficulty concentrating, fatigue and low energy, and physical complaints such as stomachaches,
headaches. In most cases there tends to be a reduced ability to function during events and
activities at home or with friends, in school, extracurricular activities, and in other hobbies or
interests that are caused by feelings of worthlessness or guilt (Cummings et al., 2014). It is
important to note that not all children have all of these symptoms. Most children will display
different symptoms at different times and in different settings. Although some children may
continue to function reasonably well in structured environments, most kids with significant
depression will suffer a noticeable change in social activities, loss of interest in school and poor
academic performance, or a change in appearance. It is also common that children may also
begin using drugs or alcohol, especially if they are over the age of twelve. Suicide is a very real

Stereotypes In The Outsiders
Stereotype; a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of
person or thing. In the realistic fiction novel, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, and in the short story,
Geeks Bearing Gifts , written by Ron Koertge, stereotypes are defied by ordinary people. In The
Outsiders, Johnny Cade and Darry Curtis face many struggles throughout their lives. Their town in
separated into two: the rich and dangerous Socs, and the quiet, tough Greasers. For them, living
dangerously is a reality. As a result of their lifestyle, Johnny has become fearful and Darry is
considered the toughest man in the gang. In Geeks Bearing Gifts aspiring journalist, Renee,
interviews her fellow classmates who are classified as outcasts. After meeting several students, she
realizes her assumptions were incorrect about them. After reading both of these stories, the reader
learns that our thoughts about others often revolve around stereotypes and assumptions, but most
of these ideas that we have about other peopleare proven wrong.
In The Outsiders, Johnny and Darry find themselves struggling with the stereotype society has
labeled them with. While in the park, Johnny and his friend Ponyboy are jumped by five Socs.
Unexpectedly, Johnny stands up for himself and protects his friend. On page 56, the text states,
I killed him, he said slowly. I killed that boy . Bob the handsome Soc, was lying there in the
moonlight, doubled up and still. This demonstrates that although Johnny is considered a timid
and innocent person, he proves that how he acts in the gang is different from how he acts in the
outside world. This is unexpected because Johnny is always the one being cared for in the gang.
However, he protected his friend by killing someone. Johnny s actions prove that our assumptions
about others are wrong. This matters because society needs to realize that based on stereotypes,
we incorrectly judge others before getting to know them. Johnny is a clear example of what
happens when one is judged based on assumptions. Another example of this theme is reflected
when Darry breaks down at a hospital after finding out that his younger brother, Ponyboy, is going
to be okay. On pages 98 99, the text states, Darry,

The Role Of The Doctrine Of Precedent
The purpose of this essay focus on the important role of the doctrine of precedent in Australia
legal system. The doctrine of precedent, in a simple words, is the principle that binds the
common law together. As a general rule it means the courts were bound to follow the decisions of
all courts superior to it in its own court hierarchy. This paper is divided into four parts. The first
part mentions a background of the topic, the second part concentrates on analyzing the principle as
well as the advantages and disadvantages of the doctrine of precedent. Finally the conclusion sums
up the outcome of the research.
The doctrine of precedent, as mentioned, was settled in the nineteenth century. Before that,

The diagram above show the Australia Court hierarchy. The diagram is also demonstrate how the
concept of Doctrine of Precedent applies.
A further question that arise is when the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of
Victoria will depart from their previous decisions. First of all, the High Court of Australia will
normally follow its own earlier decisions and will depart from them if there is a strong reason to
do so. In the case in which the High Court did not follow its own previous decision, it said that:
while stare decisis is a sound policy because it promotes predictability of judicial decision and
facilitates the giving of advice, it should not always trump the need for desirable change in the law
especially we would add if the change is necessary to maintain a better connection with more
fundamental doctrines and principle . For example, in the case of Imbree v McNeilly (2008) 249
ALR 647 7, the decision of the previous case named Cook v Cook (1986) 162 CLR 376 8 was no
longer a good law to be follow therefore the court decided to overruled this previous case.
Conversely, a court of appeal will normally follow its own previous decision and the situations
that it determines not to do so will be rare. For instant, the Victorian Court of Appeal only depart
from its own previous decision where it is convinced that the decision is clearly, or plainly, wrong

Corporate Capacity And Authority
Corporate capacity and authority were essential legal concepts which contained rules for when
and how a company ought to be legally recognised as having validly acted and entered into a
binding contract with third parties. Broadly speaking, the rules which applied to corporate
capacity were the ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice. In regard to the
concept of corporate authority, both the ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice
also applied however their application was curtailed by the Turquand rule. The Turquand rule
therefore only applied when the authority of directors was in question. A definitional overview of
the concepts of corporate capacity and authority will be provided below, along with brief
description of the doctrine of constructive notice and the Turquand rule. The thesis deals with the
above concepts and discusses how the Companies Act 71 of 2008 (the Act) modified the law,
particularly, by extending the legal capacity of a company and extinguishing or modifying the
above rules which had previously restricted a company s ability... Show more content on

For a company to transact with third parties and to enter into valid business dealings there must be
a valid contract concluded in order to create legally binding obligations enforceable between the
company and the third party. For a contract to be valid the company must have the requisite legal
capacity to enter into the contract and the directors or officers representing the company must have
the authority to act on its behalf. Within company law, capacity and authority are interrelated
principles however it is important to note that each is an entirely different and separate legal
concept from the other. Capacity relates to the legal competency and the powers of the company

Thermoregulation in the Neonate
THERMOREGULATION IN THE NEONATE
By: Shubhada Ponkshe
[pic]
INTRODUCTION:
Thermoregulation is a critical physiologic function that is closely related to the transition and
survival of the infant. An understanding of transitional events and the physiologic adaptations that
neonates must make is essential to helping the nurse provide an appropriate environment and help
infants maintain thermal stability.
Optimizing the thermal environment has proven significant for improving the chances of survival
for small infants. Understanding the basic physiologic principles and current methodology of
thermoregulation is important in the clinical care of these tiny infants.
Thermoregulation is the ability to balance heat production ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These conditions make newborns are at risk because Infants have more skin surface per pound of
body weight than older children or adults, more skin means more radiant heat and more insensible

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HYPOTHERMIA / COLD STRESS:
Peripheral vasoconstriction: acrocyanosis, cold extremities, decreased peripheral perfusion.
CNS depression: lethargy, bradycardia, apnea, poor feeding
Increased pulmonary artery pressure: respiratory distress, tachypnea
Chronic signs: weight loss, failure to thrive
PREVENTION OF HYPOTHERMIA:
Hypothermia can be prevented by maintaining a neutral thermal environment and reducing heat
loss. For prevention in reduction of heat consider the four ways by which the neonate experiences
heat loss and intervene appropriately.
Convective heat loss can be prevented by:
Providing warm ambient air temperature Placing infants less than 1500 grams in incubators
Keeping portholes of the incubator closed Warming all inspired oxygen On open warmers keeping
sides up and covering infant if possible Using Infant Servo Temperature Control
Radiant heat loss can be prevented by:

Christendom Sects
Although today one might recognize Christendom as having three main sects, this is not entirely
true. Within each mainstream denomination, there are countless subsects, each with their own
distinctive beliefs and practices. If one attempted to unite the all the groups, they would find it
incredibly difficult. Originally, Christendom was made of of one mainstream sect, Roman
Catholicism, and other sects united under its main ideas. In 1054, relations between the East and
the West Church rapidly deteriorated. Eventually, the Eastern Church would split from Roman
Catholicism to form a new sect of Christianity, Eastern Orthodoxy. Later, another sect,
Protestantism, would emerge after Martin Luther nailed a copy of his 95 Theses to the door of the
Wittenberg Castle church on October 31, 1517. There were several key differences between Roman
Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, and Protestantism. Even after many other denominations of
Christendom had given up allegiance to the pope, the Roman Catholic population stayed faithful. In

Jack Zipes Fairy Tales And The Art Of Subversion
The tradition of storytelling is as old as civilization itself. Man has always been fond of
adventures and legends. Tales from epics have been sung by bards in all parts of the world. The
Iliad, as a story, has existed long before Homer put it to paper. Owing to our intellectual prowess,
humans have been capable of deciphering countless number of phenomenon. However, that which
we could not account for, we feared or worshiped, labeling it as other worldly. When man
assigned the unintelligible as supernatural, he was absolutely smitten. He created fantasy a world

delight, or horror. Jack Zipes in his work Fairy Tales and the Art of Subversion, emphasizing on
the origin of fairy tales, states, Though it is impossible to trace the historical origins and evolution

Often the solitary one finds grace for himself the mercy of the Lord. Although he, sorry hearted,
must for a long time move by hand (in row) along the waterways, along the ice cold sea, tread the

So spoke the wanderer, mindful of hardships, of fierce slaughters and the downfall of kinsmen
(comrades):
Often I had alone to speak of my trouble each morning before dawn. There is none now living to
whom I dare clearly speak of my innermost thoughts.

And so He destroyed this city He, the Creator of Men, until deprived of the noise of the citizens, the
ancient work of giants stood empty.
He who thought wisely on this foundation, and pondered deeply on this dark life, wise in spirit,
remembered often from afar many conflicts, and spoke these words:
Where is the horse gone? Where is the rider? Where is the giver of treasure? Where are the seats
at the feast? Where are the revels in the hall? Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior!
Alas for the splendour of the prince!
How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it had never been! Now there
stands in the trace of the beloved troop a wall, wondrously high, wound round with serpents. The
warriors taken off by the glory of spears, the weapons greedy for slaughter, the famous fate (turn of

Then dark comes, nightshadows deepen, from the north there comes a rough hailstorm in malice
against men. All is troublesome in this earthly kingdom, the turn of events changes the world under
the heavens. Here money is fleeting, here friend is fleeting, here man is fleeting, here kinsman is
fleeting, all the foundation of this world turns to waste!

Zombieism In Santa Clarita Diet
Zombieism in Santa Clarita Diet is represented in a way that represents being undead as a path

changing characteristic is presented as a betterment of self without any groaning, loss of identity

is characterized by behavior. It could also be attempting to metaphorically represent zombieism as

This chapter tells us that regardless of our temperament or preferences, we can all appreciate the
importance of being flexible and adaptive, particularly in social situations. It focuses on when
introverts should act more extroverted. A theory called the free trait theory is discussed in this
chapter, according to this model individuals can take on different personality types for short
spurts at a time, but doing this also has its effects. It leads to fatigue and exhaustion. An important
question which follows leads to an important concept, the question is not whether you can fake it,
but rather if you should fake it? The concept explains that you can take on different personality
types for short spurts of time but taking on traits that are otherwise outside your normal comfort
zone is taxing even under the best of circumstances. When you find yourself doing things for a

no one is around to listen to what she has to say, causing her to act as if she were dead, buried
underground which is just another way of feeling as if no one is there for you. But since the
artist described her emotions as being trapped underground, she has simply overemphasized her
emotions to produce a greater effect because when an individual feels as if no one seems to hear

This will attract more customers to rent from Enterprise because one they will help to contribute to keep the environment clean and also because they have hybrid cars they will also be able to save money because they will get more miles to the gallon. Political, Legal Politics also plays a major role in factors that affect Enterprise. Two examples, one if there is a political upheaval in another country it may cause oil prices to rise and second, if the government decided to raise taxes on cars. Both of these situations would affect Enterprise because to compensate for these added costs they may have to increase the cost of rentals and the demand for rentals will go down, as some consumers may not be able to afford to rent a car. The company should be focused and aware of what is going on in the world both locally and abroad so that if a situation occurs or they see where a situation could cause a threat for them they have a system where they can use the price of one rental to offset the other so that consumers will not have to pay that much more for a rental. Technological In the 21st century the world has become so technologically advanced that businesses now need to take part in social media. Enterprise has begun taking part in this, as they are on Facebook and Twitter. • 3. Harriet Tubm The Moses Of Her People Harriet Tubman: The Moses of Her People On a cold night in the middle of winter, a weary slave ran across the field to the woods. There he met Harriet Tubman, the conductor, and the rest of her sore footed but hopeful passengers who were ready to start the long, treacherous journey to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Harriet Tubman, later called Moses , was a runaway slave who came back to her people and helped over 300 of them gain freedom. Harriet Tubman was born in Maryland to her slave parents Harriet Green and Ben Ross in 1822. Her mother worked as a cook for the Brodess family and her father was a skilled woodsman who managed the timber work on the Thompson s plantation (Harriet Tubman par. 2). Because her mother was so busy in the kitchen, Harriet cared for her younger siblings, till she reached the age of six. When she was six, Brodess hired her out to be a nurse maid to Miss Susan. She was told to watch the baby while it slept but when the baby woke up and cried she was whipped. Her next job was to work for a planter named James Cook. She was assigned to checking the musket traps, even after she contracted measles. Sadly, she got so ill she was sent back to Brodess were her mother nursed her back to health. When Harriet was 13 a slave tried to run away. The overseer threw a 2 pound metal weight at him but Harriet stood in the way. • 5. Reasons to Not Allow Women in the Front Lines About 200,000 plus women are on active duty for the military out of 1.4 million serving. Out of the 200,000, 2.7 percent of them make up the front line units (CNN). This is approximately 5,400 women that are enlisted and are fighting on the front lines. This number is very low and should be much higher. This number represents the idea that the militarybelieves women should not be on the front lines. Many people in society believe that what the military is doing is wrong and females should be able to fight on the front lines. There has been an official ban on women fighting on the front lines by the military. Recently many people are discussing the idea of lifting the ban and giving females the ability to fight in the front lines while the other party believes that women should not. This ban was stated in 1994 when the Pentagon restricted women from artillery, armor, infantry and other combat roles. In recent years, women had found themselves in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan and according to the Pentagon, hundreds of thousands of these women have been deployed in those conflicts (NYTIMESBANLIFT). One major benefit of lifting the ban will be the amount of jobs that will be created. This will allow a boost in job openings in the army. No matter how strong you are, the only thing that matters is the will to fight and to protect the nation. Reasons to not allow women on the front lines The British military determined that 1 in 100 trained female soldiers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Solution Focused Therapy ( Sft ) Clients come for mental health treatment for a variety of different reasons and there are a variety of different approaches that can be used to assist those clients. Solution focused therapy (SFT) is one of those approaches. Examined are the treatment approach of SFT, the theory associated, evidence to support the treatment, the effectiveness with youth and culturally diverse clients, and the limitation of the approach. SFT treatment approach can be used with an individual and or families. The treatment emphasizes the strengths and sources of resiliency that a client or family has to promote positive change (Hook, 2014). The therapy enables the client to focus on solutions from the past that could be helpful in creating new realities (Hook, 2014). One of the inventors of SFT referred to it as a way to carry on a practical conversation with clients (Jong, 2015). The conversation is used to co construct solutions. • 9. Reaction Paper On Quidditch When on Reddit I used the sub section of Quidditch to access more information. One interviewee from reddit said Communication between clubs is through public Facebook events and directed invitations, public advertisement such as posters, word of mouth (messaged or spoken), and by messages (email, FB, WhatsApp) between committees. Communication intra club is generally through the same means. Communication from official bodies is through the same means, but using more advanced/expensive means of public communication. Freelance events operate in a similar way to events hosted by local teams in terms of communication and advertisement. Communication between teams is relatively the same, it switches between phones and email. The teams also meet in person to discuss important information. Many of these players use the game as an outlet from their daily life. It adds an element of fun and excitement to anyone s normal life. Quidditchteams are not only found in universities. There is a map found on the website that gives you the location of the team in America, the ones connected to a school and also those who are not. Teams found outside of schools and universities are organized differently. Official teams have a captain who, like the president, send out all the information and run practices. Like many other sports the goal of the team is to win the game. But during my interview I learned the players are more interested in the social aspect of the game. One of the men I interviewed said the goal of the club was to improve our skills and have fun playing against other teams. But, of course the players are hoping to win the game because many are involved for the competition. In the movie the players are depicted wearing a cape, long pants and padding. The teams in real life has a slightly different uniform. Because they are not flying the cape is not needed, and padding is optional. Their uniforms are similar to that of a soccer uniform and usually has their name and number located on the back. Sports are something normalized by American society. • 10. Defense Mechanisms That The Child Uses Essay Part A: Answer any 3 of the following questions: 1) Discuss 2 defense mechanisms that the child uses, and whether each appears to be adaptive or maladaptive. Susana is in denial of her current situation and uses crying and hostile behavior as her way of coping. As mentioned by Robbins et al. (2011), denial is seen as declining to believe or perceive reality. Susana is in denial of her current situation and tries to remain as the active child she used to be by interacting with her mother Jacquie as much as she can. A reason why Susana is in denial of her situation is because she is often eager, has hope, and is happy to see her mother Jacquie when she gets home from work despite her lack of presence as a nurturing mother. Susana remains optimistic that Jacquie will be there for her and play with her when she gets home. In this case Susana is trying to adapt to her environment as much as she can and her efforts show that Susana is a very strong child. In addition, being in denial of her current situation appears to be adaptive to Susana because she remains hopeful of her situation getting better despite of the lack of motherly love or lack of attention from her mother Jacquie. Another defense mechanism that can fit into the previous scenario is reaction formation . Although, Susana is not given the attention and proper care she needs she is being happy about her current situation by replacing all the negativity of not socializing with others as much, not having her mother ... Foreclosure is an important issue in the United States and needs to be ended or decreased rapidly as soon as possible for the sake of America s economy. The foreclosure of homes has decreased the state of the economy, and rendered millions of Americans homeless. There are four key solutions that will stop foreclosures in the United States and able millions of American to keep their homes. The first solution is having banks lower their interest rates for all citizens who are in financial need of an interest rate deduction. The second solution is creating jobs that are able to sustain through an economic crisis. The third solution is for states and towns to conduct public seminars on how to manage and budget ones finances during financially... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The disadvantages of having banks lower their interest rates are, people may feel less obligated to pay their mortgage payments on time because the interest rates are lower, despite the jobs that are available through people owning homes there still may not be enough jobs to go around causing there to be very little change in the amount of homes in foreclosure. Creating jobs that are able to sustain through an economic crisis will stop foreclosures because if citizens lose their jobs in an economic crisis they will be able to quickly find another job. This would be beneficial in the fight to end foreclosures because people would have the funds to pay their mortgage and any other financial obligations. How one would go about creating new jobs is by developing new technology, products, and services that would change the way people live their everyday life while helping them to save money. In stanza 1 Dickinson provides a calm but yet, magical setting for this poem. The imagery would make you think that you are walking on the ocean. She creates the magical setting with the quote the mermaids in the basement that looked up at her. Dickinson makes you think that you are being watched by a mermaid but we all mermaids are in our imagination. Dickinson feels as if she is worthy of being looked at by something that s not real. In stanza 2 Dickinson links magically with real events because the frigates is a type of warship used in the U.S. Navy. The explanation of a warship suggests that Dickinson is aware of the magical and peaceful parts of her life, such as the sea and the mermaids, but she is also aware of reality, such as war. While Dickinson openly sees the warship on the sea, she also sees the mermaids at the bottom of the sea floor looking at her. Dickinson continues to give the sea human like characterization. However I was upset that a bank position was not available (despite advertising it) and that I had to work contracted hours. The interview went well. • 16. Prejudice And Racism Exposed In The Bible Generalities and blanket statements can be refuted because of the all or nothing aspect, and this certainly is the case with the statement that everyone is a little bit racist. Racism does exist; that is without question. However, I am not willing to say that every human has racist tendencies within his/her heart. In the beginning of time, God created man in his image (Genesis 1:29, New King James Version). In both the Old Testament (Deuteronomy 10:17, New King James Version) and the New Testament (Romans 2:11, New King James Version), we read that God does not show respect or partiality to any person. Therefore, if man is created in God s image, and God does not show partiality to any person, then the possibility exists that not everyone is a little bit racist. To say otherwise is equivalent to saying that God is racist. Another reason for my belief is my niece. Her dearest friend, Stina, had different color skin. The two befriended each other in kindergarten and spent many nights together until Stina passed away seven years ago. To this day, my niece grieves the loss and has a... Another reason for the belief can be seen within my school s walls. Lunch tables filled with various nationalities and kids getting along with other kids regardless of skin color are common. This type of behavior often stops as the kids age and are influenced by some source. If you re a student, you probably fall into the category of those who do not have time to do things other than school. You may also feel as though homeworkdoesn t actually do anything. Most students get so busy with activities outside of school and just simply do not have time to do homework or study for a test for 5 hours. So ask yourself, is all of this necessary? Or can all of this unnecessary stress be avoided? Of course, nobody truly knows if homework is actually effective or not. It may be stressing student out for no good reason. Many students said they often do homework they see as pointless or mindless in order to keep their grades up. Homework should have a purpose and a benefit. It should be designed to actually teach kids instead of stress them out. In the earliest of know human civilizations, people realized the importance of finding the exact value of ПЂ for practical reasons. Even by todays standards, we still only need to know the exact value of ПЂ to a few decimal place values, although that hasn t stopped mathematicians from pursuing a more accurate representation for its value throughout time. The earliest know approximations for the value of ПЂ have been identified on ancient clay tablets, dated 1900 1650 BC, from the Babylonian civilization which states the value of ПЂ as (25/8) = 3.125 (4) and from the Egyptian civilization, from the Rhind Papyrus(1650BC), which approximates the value of ПЂ to be (16/9)^2 = 3.1605. (4) Although these earliest of approximations have been proven to be within 1 percent of todays actual know value, it marks the point of obsession for mathematicians to find an exact value for ПЂ. The next advancement in determining a more accurate value didn t occur for more than another 1000 years. Around 250 BC, the Greek mathematician Archimedes developed an approach using circumscribed and inscribed polygons to prove that the value of pi to be between (223/71) ПЂ (22 /7) (3.1408 ПЂ 3.1429). • 21. Homework Is No Homework In recent years, the argument over assigning students tremendous amounts of homework each night continues to grow. In a few districts scattered across the country, superintendents refuse to allow teachers to assign homework to children. The superintendent of Marion County Public Schools in Florida recently assigned a no homeworkpolicy for the current schoolyear, joining districts in Massachusetts and Vermont. Most parents and students across the country admired the district s decision and hoped their own school system would follow suit. A study from Duke University in 2006 showed that assigning homework did improve academic performance, but an excessive amount could hurt student s mentality. The famous saying practicemakes perfect does prove to help people achieve their goals. The more one practices something, the easier it will come to them. Teachers assign homework to give students more opportunities to practice what they have learned in class. In that case, some homework should be assigned, but on the other hand, too much homework becomes unhelpful to the student. For instance, if a math teacher starts on a new section, practice problems will help the student prepare for the next class. Except, assigning thirty questions of the same type of problem becomes too monotonous. A math teacher should only assign ten problems at the maximum. At that point, the teacher should answer any question a student might have the following day. Teachers tell students that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Stereotypes In The Outsiders Stereotype; a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. In the realistic fiction novel, The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton, and in the short story, Geeks Bearing Gifts , written by Ron Koertge, stereotypes are defied by ordinary people. In The Outsiders, Johnny Cade and Darry Curtis face many struggles throughout their lives. Their town in separated into two: the rich and dangerous Socs, and the quiet, tough Greasers. For them, living dangerously is a reality. As a result of their lifestyle, Johnny has become fearful and Darry is considered the toughest man in the gang. In Geeks Bearing Gifts aspiring journalist, Renee, interviews her fellow classmates who are classified as outcasts. After meeting several students, she realizes her assumptions were incorrect about them. After reading both of these stories, the reader learns that our thoughts about others often revolve around stereotypes and assumptions, but most of these ideas that we have about other peopleare proven wrong. In The Outsiders, Johnny and Darry find themselves struggling with the stereotype society has labeled them with. While in the park, Johnny and his friend Ponyboy are jumped by five Socs. Unexpectedly, Johnny stands up for himself and protects his friend. On page 56, the text states, I killed him, he said slowly. I killed that boy . Bob the handsome Soc, was lying there in the moonlight, doubled up and still. This demonstrates that although Johnny is considered a timid and innocent person, he proves that how he acts in the gang is different from how he acts in the outside world. This is unexpected because Johnny is always the one being cared for in the gang. However, he protected his friend by killing someone. Johnny s actions prove that our assumptions about others are wrong. This matters because society needs to realize that based on stereotypes, we incorrectly judge others before getting to know them. Johnny is a clear example of what happens when one is judged based on assumptions. Another example of this theme is reflected when Darry breaks down at a hospital after finding out that his younger brother, Ponyboy, is going to be okay. On pages 98 99, the text states, Darry, ... • 31. The Role Of The Doctrine Of Precedent The purpose of this essay focus on the important role of the doctrine of precedent in Australia legal system. The doctrine of precedent, in a simple words, is the principle that binds the common law together. As a general rule it means the courts were bound to follow the decisions of all courts superior to it in its own court hierarchy. This paper is divided into four parts. The first part mentions a background of the topic, the second part concentrates on analyzing the principle as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the doctrine of precedent. A further question that arise is when the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Victoria will depart from their previous decisions. First of all, the High Court of Australia will normally follow its own earlier decisions and will depart from them if there is a strong reason to do so. In the case in which the High Court did not follow its own previous decision, it said that: while stare decisis is a sound policy because it promotes predictability of judicial decision and facilitates the giving of advice, it should not always trump the need for desirable change in the law especially we would add if the change is necessary to maintain a better connection with more fundamental doctrines and principle . For example, in the case of Imbree v McNeilly (2008) 249 ALR 647 7, the decision of the previous case named Cook v Cook (1986) 162 CLR 376 8 was no longer a good law to be follow therefore the court decided to overruled this previous case. Conversely, a court of appeal will normally follow its own previous decision and the situations that it determines not to do so will be rare. For instant, the Victorian Court of Appeal only depart from its own previous decision where it is convinced that the decision is clearly, or plainly, wrong 9. In the case of ... Corporate Capacity And Authority Corporate capacity and authority were essential legal concepts which contained rules for when and how a company ought to be legally recognised as having validly acted and entered into a binding contract with third parties. Broadly speaking, the rules which applied to corporate capacity were the ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice. In regard to the concept of corporate authority, both the ultra vires doctrine and the doctrine of constructive notice also applied however their application was curtailed by the Turquand rule. The Turquand rule therefore only applied when the authority of directors was in question. A definitional overview of the concepts of corporate capacity and authority will be provided below, along with brief description of the doctrine of constructive notice and the Turquand rule. The thesis deals with the above concepts and discusses how the Companies Act 71 of 2008 (the Act) modified the law, particularly, by extending the legal capacity of a company and extinguishing or modifying the above rules which had previously restricted a company s ability... But since the artist described her emotions as being trapped underground, she has simply overemphasized her emotions to produce a greater effect because when an individual feels as if no one seems to hear a word they say, they often feel lost and it may feel as if you are trapped underground but in reality you re not and being trapped underground feels much worse.
