Anabolic Steroids In Sports
In society today, winning is considered everything. Man is always trying to beat their opponent no
matter what it takes. Some athletes are willing to do anything that could potentially be life
threatening in order to get their 15 seconds of fame. This something is known as anabolic steroids.
Anabolic steroids have come to improve many athletes physical activity, but also ruin an immense
amount of lives forever. Although it may give someone the power to feel good, be stronger, and
build up more muscle, the negative effects strongly outweigh the positives. All athletes dream big.
They have the desire to stand on the podium with a gold metal, receive an athletic award, or win
the world championships. Sometimes the desire to achieve gets so high... Show more content on

Unfortunately, it is not completely uncommon for athletes to test positive for steroids. Amazing,
talented competitors like Barry Bonds, Marion Jones, and Lance Armstrong were all illegal users
of steroids. They did as many things as they could to not get caught, but eventually they did.
Imagine all of the die hard fans that found out that their favorite athlete cheated through sports.
Kids look up to athletes as role models and aspire to be like them one day, but the let down of
discovering that an athlete wasn t competing the way its body naturally could is devastating.
Seeing all this success through the use of steroids could actually promote people to use it. This is
an extremely bad idea because anabolic steroids ultimately lead to a path of physical and mental
hopelessness. Anabolic steroids can be extremely harmful. If the body is already producing a proper
amount of testosterone, there is no reason to be adding more. It is unhealthy for the body and
results in abnormal effects. Acne, liver disorders, blood pressure increase, possible HIV, sexual
diseases, atrophy, infertility, prostate enlargement, lower speaking voice, thinner hair, aggressive
behavior, depression, and lower hormonal levels are just a few of the side effects as a result of
taking steroids. None of these are positive, so why should athletes be using them if they have

Americans Should Be Allowed To Have Freedom Of Speech
In the first amendment it clearly states that we have the right to say anything we feel. We
Americans have what is called freedom of speech . We can express this right in many ways: like
protesting against something we do not believe in, saying what we want when we feel it or
posting what we want to online. People have just recently become too emotional. They get their
feelings hurt too easily and find a way to take offense to every little thing we say that they don t
like. Unlike most I do not think we should have a limit on our speech. if people want to post
online what they think, then they should be able to post it without backlash from others. Our
social media pages are for our own personal enjoyment. It is a place where we are able to post our
feelings and thoughts on current events. If someone posts something you do not like there are two
simple ways to handle it. You could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone has a different upbringing and you should not be angry when someone expresses their
feelings. You should be able to say what you want in public without being attacked. If you get
angry at someone for stating their personal opinion, then you are in the wrong. Most people say
that you are not mature when you voice what comes to your mind, but the truth is if you are
unable to ignore things that people say that you do not agree with then you are the immature one.
Some people are more filtered than others and it is not your job to control that. In conclusion,
people have the right to free speech. At the end of the day we have the right to say what comes to
our mind. Not everything that comes out of people s mouth may be right or always appropriate,
but as adults we should be able to ignore it. Unless they are planning on changing this amendment
any time soon everyone should try and get used to the fact that at the end of the day people will say
what comes to their mind no matter how unethical it may

Mahatma Gandhi vs. Mao Essay
Gandhi vs. Mao
Mao and Gandhi became key leaders in each of their countries, India and China. Although they both
wanted very similar things to happen to their countries, they used very different tactics. The main
points in their rules where economical, political and social. And all points affected their people in
many ways.
First, to make each of their countries stronger economically Ghandi and Mao changed laws and
broke rules. During the British rule in India there was a salt tax, which made it very hard for the
people of china to buy salt, but it was illegal for them to make their own salt. Because Ghandi did
not think this tax was righteous, on. In 1930, March 12th, he and eighty other people walked in the
salt march. The salt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mao used violence and killed many of the landlords so that the people of the countryside could
become more powerful economically, but Gandhi used peaceful protests and never wanted to use
violence or war against the British. (China in Revolution Video Dr. Sue Williams, China Guidance
Packet), (Gandhi the film), (China Guidance Packet), (India Guidance Packet). These are my
resources.
Second, to make each of their countries stronger politically, Ghandi and Mao generally treated
the people equally, and changed key parts of the old ways which gained each of them political
support. Gandhi, held peaceful protests, such as passbook burnings that he first created in South
Africa. Mao on the other hand, known for not being a great speaker reached out and gained
support by the things he did. He, gave his people better education, gave woman more rights, by
stopping the foot binding. Took out Confucianism and said that people could marry for love not
because the man wanted to marry a women or a marriage being arranged. Although they used
theses tactics in similar ways they were different in the ways that they lived. For example Mao gave
women rights, ironically however kept many young girls with him at home and slept with them,
and a more common phrase for the things that he did where his Friday night dances. Gandhi on the
other hand became celibate, which means that he would not have

Hairbrush History
Part 1
For As long as people have had hair, they have needed a way to tame their hair s tangles. It has
provided mankind with a method of detangling their hair for thousands of years, though it has
evolved and improved over time. Many types of hairbrushes have been dated back to ancient times.
We cannot pinpoint the exact time and place of the invention of the hairbrush as it has been utilised
by so many cultures and civilisations such as Ancient Egypt, since the beginning of mankind. What
started out as a very basic grooming implement, the hair brush has morphed into a highly
specialised grooming and styling tool.

Causes Of Fragile X Syndrome
Fragile X Syndrome
Fragile X Syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by a disruption in the FMR1 gene and is the
most recurrent inherited form of intellectual disability (Bagni, et al., 2012). It can cause a variety
of mental effects ( Fragile X syndrome , 2017). For these reasons, Fragile X Syndrome has the
chance of being a model of translational neuroscience (Jayaseelan, Tenenbaum, 2012).

Fragile X Syndrome (FXS) is a trinucleotide repeat expansion disorder where triple expansion is
preventing expansion of the FMR1 gene. (Bagni, et al., 2012; Fragile X syndrome , 2017).

Homemade Education By Malcolm X Analysis
Trying to communicate, but words aren t used, writing isn t used, it s simply impossible. When
communicating with others we use words, we speak, write, and read. But if one can t perform
those tasks, communication is simply out of reach. The essay Homemade Education by Malcolm
X, a minister and a civil right activist, describes how his experience of learninghow to read and
write in prison changes his life as he became both an articulate speaker and writer. Similarly, Helen
Keller, an author and political activist shares her experience being both deaf and blind in an
excerpt called A Word for Everything. She explains how learning a new languageopened her to all
the joys and horrors of the world. I, like many other authors, also had an experience concerning
language and how it changed my perspective of the world. Speaking Chinese and Vietnamese as
my first languages in the United States made me run into societal barriers and restrictions.
However, by learning English, I could open myself to new possibilities and experiences. By
learning and struggling through the experience of language; new perspectives are opened up such
as how one views themselves, the world, and society. There is a motive each person has that
causes them to want to learn, experience, and struggle with language. Malcolm X lacked writing
skills and claimed that when he tried to write in simple English, [he] not only wasn t articulate, [he]
wasn t even functional (143). Malcolm X learned and

Introduction
This is an absurd play written in 1953 by Samuel Beckett. It features two main characters Vladimir
and Estragon who wait tirelessly for Godot. These two seem not to undergo any transformation
throughout the scenes. In the same play, Pozzo, a master and Lucky, his slave becomes blind and
dumb respectively in Act II. The character Godot, a mute character, is the reason Vladimir and
Estragon wait patiently at the roadside after his messenger, a boy delivered the message of his
coming. The author utilizes the same setting throughout the play which a secluded road with only
one tree.
Unlike other plays which have a progressive story line and climax at the end, Waiting for Godot has
only two Acts and it ends in almost the same state in which the main characters were in Act I. The
play employs the style of repetition in various occasions. An author replicates the setting of the play
all through and the characters tend to use the same wordings. In any creative writing, repetition is
used to create attention, rhythm or to emphasis on a specific theme (William Kolbrener, (2010).
Impact of repetition in Waiting for Godot
Waiting for Godot play has to scenes. Both scenes take place in the same setting, which is by the

Diabetes is a very sensitive chronic condition that involves high levels of blood glucose in the

sensitivity is reduced to insulin (U.S. National Library of Medicine). Individuals who have
untreated type II diabetes are prone to other severe diseases such as atherosclerosis and
hypertension, therefore it is very important to stay active and eat healthy (U.S. National Library of
Medicine).
Prevalence of the disease: Incidence: this is statistical how many people get/have the disease in
various populations
Type II diabetes is often diagnosed later on in life so it is referred to as adult onset diabetes (U.S.
National Library of Medicine). In 2012, the World Health Organization reported that 1.5 million
deaths were directly caused by diabetes (World Health Organization, 2015). The WHO reported
that 90% of diagnosed diabetes results in type II diabetes (World Health Organization, 2015). In
2014, they also reported that in low and middle income families more than 80% of deaths occur
because of diabetes (World Health Organization, 2015). These deaths simply occurred because
people were not eating healthy and receiving enough nutrients as well as not getting enough
exercise (World Health Organization, 2015). Individuals who live in a community that lacks
healthy food sources such as grocery stores are more likely to develop type II diabetes (World
Health Organization, 2015). In the United States alone, over 9% of the total population have

The Protagonists In The Last Of The Mohicans
The characters in The Last of The Mohicans; specifically Hawkeye, Uncas, and Chingachgook,
because these three protagonists remind me of the heros I remembered in video games and
movies. I seen not only the main protagonists in other stories act similar to Hawkeye, Uncas, or
like Chingachgook; but I seen people who are viewed as supporting characters in a way.
Hawkeye was given advice from Chingachgook to listen, so Hawkeye won t hear a lie. I view
Hawkeye as a man who would listen to advice for a better path to follow that is best for not only
himself, but for his group. I watched a movie with a character who was constantly nervous, worried,
and overthinks his situations. The main character then has made a terrible mistake by leading a

The Trials Tribulations of a Transformational Leader
Brandon Kent
ASU, PAF 410
September 22, 2016
Throughout time, many books and papers have been written to study the birthplace of leadership
failure, its causes, results, and ultimately, the best way to oversea these situations to avoid future
failures. Some leadership experts, may argue that the best way to learn how to lead, is to study
successful leadership outcomes and more importantly, how former miscalculations were committed
and as a result, what gran plan was used that resulted in the leaders turnaround success. To be a
great leader, the individual has to be cognate of what elements, including external and internal
impact, resulted in their failure, as well as, how to avoid leadership oversight in the future. In this
paper, I will attempt to do just that, as I will incorporate the transactional and transformational
leadership theory from this course and apply them to the leadership failures of one of the most
entertaining leadership failures of all time: the DeLorean Motor Company. From a business
perspective, the ramifications of leadership failure differ in size depending on the severity of the
situation. If market conditions are fixed and the competitive atmosphere is not extraordinarily
punishing, leadership failures may not be that bad for the business. If, however, the market is going
through dramatic change, which demands equally dramatic change in the organization, failure to

A Comparison of The Passionate Shepherd to his Love and The Nymph s Reply to the Shepherd
In Elizabethan times poetry was a very important part of Elizabethan life. Elizabeth 1st adored
plays and poetry and was a major patron, meaning that in a way she encouraged sponsorship of the
writers and poets of her time, so that they were encourage to perform and write. These two poems
are examples of pastoral poetry, a form of poetry that deals with the lives of shepherds and shows
a contrast between the innocence and simplicity of rural life, compared with the artificiality of city
and court life. The pastoral dramas first appeared in the 15th and 16th century. The Nymph s Reply

Both of these poets were admired writers of their time and their poems are still highly
appreciated. Marlowe and Ralegh knew each other and Ralegh s poem is a witty response to his
friend s pastoral verse.
In verse one of The Passionate Shepherd to his Love , Christopher Marlowe gets straight to the
point by saying, Come live with me . This shows just how eager the shepherd is and then there is
a pause where he goes on to say, ...and by my love . This is more of a gentle tone and softens
what has just been said. In the next line there are two uses of alliteration, And we will all the
pleasures prove... , and the w s and p s add a persuasive definite feel to the verse. In the last two
lines of this stanza, Marlowe lists all the things the Nymph and the shepherd will do together, and
by listing them, he is making it seem as though there is an amazing variety of landscape to enjoy.
These areas he is listing are all dramatic, natural pleasures and have not been changed by man,
nothing is artificial. When it says, ...or steepy mountain yields , the shepherd is showing that there
is an extra sense of freedom and that together, the Nymph and himself will enjoy the natural
beauties. The Nymph s reply to Marlowe s poem is rather shocking. She stats by changing what the
shepherd has just said to what she thinks is reality. In the first line, If all the world... , the

Louis Riel Legacy
The nineteenth century included many well known, key figures such as Louis Riel. At this time in
history, actions of civilians, were setting the fundaments of Canada in motion. It was clear, from
the very beginning of his education, that riel was a standout student. Riel was identified as a strong
candidate for priest school, given a scholarship and attended a Sulpician school in MontrГ©al until
his father s death in 1864. His father, Louis Riel, Sr. was a businessman and political leader in the
mГ©tis community. His political legacy likely influenced his son, Louis Riel Jr. Who than returned

Finally, after all those years away from home, he was needed. The Red River rebellion had won
many laws and rights for manitoba and they wanted him to help Saskatchewan. After multiple
community meetings, Riel wrote up a petition which was signed by the community and later
dispatched to ottawa. (http://shsb.mb.ca/en/node/1377) It demanded that the settlers be given title
to the lands they then occupied, that the districts of Saskatchewan, Assiniboia and Alberta be
granted provincial status, that laws be passed to encourage the nomadic Indians and MГ©tis to
settle on the land and that the Indians be better treated. The government acknowledged the petition,
and promised to appoint a commission to investigate. However, similar statements had been made
before, and the saskatchewan mГ©tis, were wary of such promises. Angry with the governments
response, Riel put forward a motion to create a provisional government. When the motion did not
pass, a 10 point Revolutionary Bill of Rights was drafted. After word was received that the federal
government was sending five hundred soldiers to Batch in answer to the MГ©tis petitions, Riel
formed his own provisional government and assembled a small military force. They seized Batoche
s church and the surrounding area of Duck lake. The North West rebellion had begun. Riel decided
that they must capture Fort Carlton, he wanted this action to go without violence, alas there was no
time to conclude the negotiations because fighting broke out. The skirmish lasted roughly thirty
minutes and was dubbed the Duck lake battle , the initial conflict of the North West rebellion. The
rebel victory at Duck lake, encouraged multiple minuscule killings around the area, although the
canadiens ultimately overwhelmed the mГ©tis soldiers, and Riel surrendered

Transcendentalism In Young Goodman Brown
In Young Goodman Brown , Hawthorne demonstrates common inter turmoil, especially in regard to
spiritual state. In an attempt to discover himself and satisfy his innermost being, Young Goodman
Brown becomes a shattered, shell of a man. The question at hand is not religion, nor is it purely
spiritual, Hawthorne simply encourages his reader to search themselves with the understanding and
realization that once searched, the readers may not like what they find. Hawthorne himself seems to
struggle with this reality as he straddled his Puritan upbringing and transcendentalist revelations, as
expressed through Young Goodman Browns realization of the hypocrisy of the Puritan with whom
he resides. Hawthorne shows the potential horror of man to his readers as hidden evil inside of
man. As Hawthorne develops his story, the reader is challenged by the nature of man, and what the
reader wants the nature of man to be, which Hawthorne understands to be sinful. The traveling
companion, the third character introduced to the reader, is a symbol of the inner demon residing
within Young GoodmanBrown. The companion was waiting for Young Goodman Brown, and
apparently in the same rank of life as Goodman Brown, and bearing a considerable resemblance to
him, though perhaps more in expression than features (2). The readers see that the traveling
companion is a reflection of Goodman Brown because he looks like Goodman Brown, but the air
of the former reflects a tantalizing knowledge to

Penalties for Driving Under the Influence Essay
DUIs have blindly taken lives of citizens, and the punishment for this crime does not meet its
destruction. In Mississippi, the first offense of a DUI carries only a ninety day license
suspension. Drunk drivers kill people every year. If DUI punishment became stricter, and
careless drunk drivers paid the full consequence of their wrongdoing, the number of people killed
by drunk drivers would decrease. Some argue that if the government strengthened DUI laws, it
would have an economically negative effect on a city s social drinking aspect; however, DUI laws
would have a direct effect on repeated offenders and drinkers who disregard the law.
Some people argue that if stricter DUI laws existed, it will only have a negative financial effect on

Lee explains that even though offenders get punished, they still disregard the law: Only until the
time comes that we recognize that drunk driving should have serious consequences on the first
offense (license taken away, car impounded, jail time, higher insurance rates) will we be able to
reduce drunk driving and make ourselves safer (Lee). As long as DUI punishment for first
offenders remains the same, people will continue to ignore the law. If the government made stricter
DUI laws, then people would think twice before driving under the influence. In an online newspaper
at New Mexico Tech, an editor tries to convince a people that getting in vehicles while
intoxicated puts lives in danger. In Victoria Carreon s article, The Social Consequences of
Drinking and Driving, she reminds her fellow students of what they should think about while
drinking: One tip is simply to not drive after drinking and to remember that even a small amount
of alcohol can make a difference (Carreon). A person s BAC can become to high to drive by
drinking as little as one beer. Lives lost in drunk driving can decrease if people under the influence
would know whether or not they should drive. Law enforcement faces the problem of having repeat
offenders on the road after their first offense. In the website, Ignition Interlock Device, the author

Topic Introduction
Everyday both adults and children play video games. Some people argue that video games have
many negative effects including poor eyesight and inattention. The TED talk by Daphne Bavelier
(2012) discusses some of the current research regarding the effect video games have on your brain.
Bavelier (2012) talks more specifically about the effects of action video games such as Call of
Duty: Black Ops and similarly formatted games on a person s vision and attention span. This paper
will explore both the TED talk by Bavelier (2012) and other relevant research on the subject.
Description
On average, 90% of school aged individuals and 70% of head of households with a median age of
33, play video games. General wisdom says that playing video games leads to poor eyesight and
greater attention deficits with higher rates of distractibility. Bavelier (2012) states that research
does not support general wisdom and even refutes it strongly under certain conditions. Bavelier s
research has shown that people who play action games such as Call of Duty, actually have better
eyesight in at least 2 conditions and are also able to switch attention much more swiftly and with
fewer deficits than

The Pros And Cons Of Solar And Wind Energy
According to President Barack Obama, There is one issue that will define the contours of this
century more dramatically than any other, and that is the urgent threat of a changing climate. The
main reason for global warming is the increment of using fossil fuels as a key source of energy
across the board, so some developed countries have started to transform the non renewable power
sources to renewable resources. Solar and wind energysystems are two kinds of renewable source
of energy. Even if solar and wind powerdiffer in methods of generating power, they bring similar
benefits to the society and environment.
Solar and wind energy have different processes to produce electricity. Solar energy creates
electricity by making large amounts of heat, which is conducted through electrical conductors and
changed into electrical power. In most solar systems, solar panels mounted on the roof. These
panels contain photovoltaic cells made from silicon that convert incoming sunlight into electricity
instead of heat. ( Photovoltaic means electricity from light photo = light, voltaic = electricity.) The
photons of the sunlight knock the electrons from the silicon, as a result, the negatively electrons
accumulate in one side of the silicon cell to create electrical voltage. This current form
photovoltaic array and flows through PV array cables, which are terminated in one fused array
combiner box. It is designed to protect the PV cell cables, and to deliver DC (Direct Current)

DBQ # 2 Nationalism v. Sectionalism Era of Good Feelings The years following the War of
1812 became known as the era of good feelings . During this time you see the expansion of
nationalism within the United States. It started mainly in the 1816 shortly before Monroe took
office, and lasted until the end of his Presidency in the year of 1824. Before the era of good
feelings there were certain events taking place that will lead up to this era. The first of these is the
acquired land of the Louisiana Purchase from the French. Through this the United Stateswas able to

The south began to rely on agriculture as their basis of economic growth. For this to be success,
slavery was an almost a natural need for the people of the south. Cotton began to grow as a cash
crop for the South. Cotton was dependent on many workers needed for it to exist, thus the need
for such a large amount of work force. Slavery in the late 1700 s was beginning to die down and
cotton was paying the biggest price for it. Not until Eli Whitney s invention of the cotton gin did
the issue of slavery spark up again and cotton begins to thrive. In 1820 Missouri wished to be
part of the Union as a slave state. With there already being an equality of Slave states and Free
states it caused tension and sectionalism within the country; because of the edition of Missouri
would cause an unbalance of free and slave states. In hopes to resolve this conflict a compromise
was reached known as the Missouri Compromise. Through the Missouri Compromise Missouri
was able to enter as a slave state, while Maine was able to enter as a free state. However, as pointed
out, it created a line between slave states and Free states. Any state below Missouri was able to
practice slavery, and any state above was to be a Free State. Even John Quincy Adamsled to the
sectionalism, with his supportive views of the Compromise. (Document F) He expressed views in

He picked up the name Bob Dylanwhen he began singing in Greenwich Village. His songs are

Bob has a message in every song and just about every verse. His songs are very poetic and
powerful . Blowin in the Wind states it s message within the first two verses. How many roads
must a man walk down, before you call him a man? , it talks about racial justice. How many seas
must a white dove sail, before she sleeps in the sand? , this symbolizes people looking for peace.
He claims to have written Blowin in the Wind in just 10 minutes to the melody of an old slave

Research On The Learning Of An Educational Setup Essay
1.0 Introduction
New Zealand social researchers Carl Davidson and Martin Tolich (1999) point out that research
fulfils three roles exploring, describing and explaining (as cited in Mutch, 2005, p. 16). Research
helps to add more qualitative information to an existing body of knowledge or helps to decipher a
problem existing in an educational setup. Sometimes, research tends to bring into light certain issues
that required attention. Baumfield and Butterworth (2005) suggest that engagement in research by
teachers has a positive impact on the learning of the pupils in their classrooms (as cited in Menter,
Elliot, Hulme, Lewin, Lowden, 2011, p. 14).
Having taught General Science to primary and middle school students (ages 9 11) and Chemistry
to secondary section students (ages 13 15), I have observed a change in the students approach
towards the study of Science. As the students progressed to higher grades, they started losing their
interest in science. Applying scientific concepts in practical scenarios became a challenging
process and yet, many continued to study science simply due to the pressure of choosing a career
in the field of medicine or engineering.
2.0 Aim of my research
As a science teacher, lesson planning involves setting specific learning objectives and predicting the
expected outcomes. On learning a scientific concept, the students are taught to build up on the
concept and eventually look at the final scientific theory that resonates with their

Each new music genre introduces the counterculture or opposition of previous generation s values.
Led Zeppelin sparked the beginning of the heavy metal culture the counterculture to psychedelic

Vietnam War influenced the new, darker, generation of rock: heavy metal.
May Day Thousands of protestors congregated in Washington D.C. on May 3rd, 1971. After two
days of protest prior, federal troops finally made an appearance. The government placed over ten
thousand troops in various locations in Washington DC. According to David (2007), 25,000 young
radicals set out to do something brash and extraordinary: shut down the federal government through
nonviolent direct action. The result about 7,000 protestors were arrested. The largest mass arrest in
American history. Known as May Day, this date is still well known today (Network, 2012).

The Cause Of Destruction In Walden By Henry David Thoreau
What exactly does it mean to ruin something? Ruin is defined as the physical destruction or
disintegration of something or the state of disintegrating or being destroyed. In the
Romanticism literary period, we see how they appreciate the things in life like nature; however,
in today s society, we ruin many things such as, nature by building things that are unnecessary or
littering. People need to learn to respect and admire nature. If we would live based on the ideas
out of Walden by Henry David Thoreau, we would live a simple life and we would learn to
appreciate nature and admire the beauty of it. Often, more times than not, we take things for
granted. We are too busy with our lives today to stop and just let the little things settle in for a
minute. In a few of the writings, we even see how nature is a relaxer and helps different people
cope with things or calm them down. Nature is vital to life; it influences where we live, who we
are, and it also provides us with support. Numerous amounts of people do not understand what
we do and the affects of what we do until it is too late. Throwing trash out of a car window might
not seem like a very big deal, but in reality it builds up time after time and it starts to ruin the
prepossessing things we have life. Take pride in the world we live in. Help... Show more content on

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest
places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope, and happiness out of the air around
them. Even Muggles feel their presence, though they can t see them (Rowling 187). A major factor
driving the action and theme of J.K. Rowling s third book, Harry Potterand the Prisoner of
Azkaban, is the element of fear represented by the dementors upon the magical community and the
terror felt when witches and wizards were threatened by the Dementor s horrific Kiss. In the scene
(246 248) where Harry Potter and Professor Lupin are having a drink at the Three Broomsticks
tavern, Harry decides to ask about the dementors and the Dementor s Kiss. This scene is important
because it ties together all the previous information about the dementors, and emphasizes how
negatively they epitomize the forces of evil in the magical community, in which Harry Potter and
other witches and wizards live. Harry says to Professor Lupin What is under the dementor s hood?
(Rowling 246), the professor s answer is both truthful and frightening. Professor Lupin mentions
that the dementors are so evil that even the Muggle community fears their presence, but cannot see
them or know what kind of creatures they really are, and therefore, the Muggle community is only
aware of the strange cold feeling that makes them afraid of unseen entities. However, the wizarding

Colonist faced several challenges prior to the American Revolution. There were many limitations
and regulations for the colonist placed by Britain. The colonist were faced with harsh Acts that
altered their way of life and shifted their perspective on Britain.
One of the major actions to suppress the colonist were the use of Acts. The Stamp Act 1765was a
very influential Act that sparked high opposition from the colonist during this time. The Stamp
Act placed tax on every printed document in the colonies:
newspapers, almanacs, pamphlets, deeds, wills, licenses. [ The Unfinished Nation, Alan Brinkley
pg.93]. The colonists were left to pay taxes on everything they wanted to use. Most colonist
believed that there was nothing to do go against the Act from Britain. Yet this led to increasing
rebellion from the colonist all over America. The Sons of Liberty terrorized stamp agents and
burned stamps [ The Unfinished Nation, Alan Brinkley, pg.96]. The Stamp Act was repealed in
1766 after all of the rebellion and a testimony from Benjamin Franklin in the same year. Q: What

The Importance Of My Personal Identity
What is your identity? People think they know someone s identity by the external factors, but
there are internal factors that they don t know about the person. For example, people might
think people are happy, but deep down they might be sad and they don t want nobody to find
out. I define myself as a catholic heterosexual 15 year old Latina. My identity is very different
than what others think of me. I think my real identity is awesome, some people think that
because I am a teenager I m into parties,relationships,drugs and also how I m a teenager, I don t
like kid shows or playing with my little cousins also they think I don t do kid stuff anymore. My
real identity is very different from the other teenagers around me. I love to play with my niece
bella and my cousins. I love spending time with my family like if I would have to choose
between going with my friends to the movies or my family I would choose my family 1000times.
When my family and I go to beautiful places I m always taking pictures of nature, what going on
during the events. Nature is one of my favorite things because there are many beautiful things to
admire. Like when I go to the beach I like to stare at the waves and the sea shells come in and
leave. Another thingI like is summer because there are so many thingsyou can do than in the winter
or any other season. Summer is my favorite because we go to so many places and parties also you
re never home which means you ll rarely get bored. It also means you get to go on vacation. Art is
something I like because it s a way I can express myself, I love to draw and paint another thing I
like to do is observe art because I can imagine different things based on the art. Social media like
Snapchat, instagram, Facebook etc are amazing because you re able to see what other people are
going also a magnificent way of communicating with family and friends far far away. I love to be
under water even though I don t know how to swim but I m learning. One of my hobbies is to
cook, I also love to bake. Cooking makes me happy because I can use my creativity to make new
recipes I make really good food and mostly because they are my mom s recipes. Movie theaters are

China s Politics And Economy
In addition, China s politics and economy have great differences with western countries because of
the special national conditions, that the political power (or government) may have a prominent or
even overwhelming strength relative to the economy (or business), which may have a decisive
influence on economic development. First, the government lead economy has caused excessive
pursuit of economic development but neglect the quality of development (Zhou, Zhang Shen,
2015). Second is the government s control and allocation of resources and the dominant mode of
development of the state owned economy have caused a series of problems like the loss of
economic benefits to a certain extent (Dollar, 1990). So the excessive concentration of political
and administrative power caused by the low degree legalization and democratization in Chinese
economy may have resulted in some obstacles in the economic development to enterprises, and
this kind of rent seeking which has political power to control economic resources and the right of
examination and approval maybe one of the reasons caused China s corruption and damaged the
normal order of the market economy. In western countries, companies could hire a lobby group to
lobby government in order to gain some benefits and a lot of countries such as the United States
have the Federal Regulation of lobbying act that make constraint on lobbying (Hansen Mitchell,
2000). But for enterprises in China, to develop good relations ( Guanxi )

Analysis Of WhatLl I Go By Irving Berlin
Irving Berlin first wrote the piece What ll I Do? in 1923. This specific performance is by the
Nat King Cole Trio in 1947. Though this song has remained popular to this day, even being used
in the hit show Cheers, the height of its popularity came around the time it was written. In the
1920s, the popularity of social dance and jazz was at an all time high. This song, which was a mix
of a ballad and a jazz piece, was a sure hit. Originally written for a MusicBox Revue, it was
composed in AABA form, and had a distinct sombre feel to it. Irving Berlin wrote several Music
Box Revues from 1921 to 1924, adding this particular piece to the score of the Third Musical Box
Revue shortly before the closing of its run. After the initial run of this piece, the popularity
remained enough so that in 1947, The Nat King ColeTrio recorded it as a solo piece. Proving its
posterity it was later included on their CD: Cool Cole, The King Cole Trio Story , released in
2002. The performers in this recording included Nat King Cole as the vocalist, with Oscar
Moore and Johnny Miller on the instrumental backing. This was one of the last performances
given before Nat King Cole began to phase out of the group to focus on his own solo career. I
chose this piece to analyze because I have known the song for my whole life, though my
knowledge of it stems from a performance by a different type of star. Bea Arthur sings this song in
an episode of Golden Girls as her character Dorothy. In this sense, it

Analysis of Derek Thompson’s Essay, “How Headphones...
Headphones are a necessity for many people in today s society. Headphones allow a person to
listen to music without disturbing others; therefore people are listening to music all day while
they eat, sleep, or work. In Derek Thompson s essay, How Headphones Changed the World ,
Thompson addresses the problem of why workers use headphones even if studies have shown that it
interferes with their productivity levels. Thompson effectively uses precise language and organizes
his essayin a way that shows a breakdown of his thoughts on this topic. These two elements make
the essay easy to understand, which enhances the audience s reading experience.
To begin with, Derek Thompson uses precise language in his essay which allows for his essay to
be easily understood by the general public. First off, Thompson only addresses what is needed for
the readers to obtain a good level of understanding about the topic. One can argue that headphones
have the capacity to make our music like our thoughts. Something that nobody else can hear.
Something we can choose to share (Thompson 3). By reading that quote, the general public is able
to clearly understand that headphones can make music like our thoughts, and 2 specific reasons
why. There is no further explanationor additional examples, because it is simply not necessary.
There is not too little, or too much information and therefore allows for readers to understand the
Thompson s ideas clearer. Secondly, he makes his sentences precise. His

The Principles Of Radio Dequency Identification
The acronym RFID stands for Radio frequency Identification, which is one of the most prominent
technologies being used in the modern lifestyle, which has wide range of applications like
enabling physical security in an enterprise, tracking objects/merchandise on a shop floor etc. A
general RFID System has a Reader and Tags. The RFIDtags are nothing but small sized
transponders, which store small amount of data which can be either information about the product
that is being tracked or any unique serial number directly fed into it and the information can be
read multiple times by the reader . The RFID reader which is a two way trans reciever uses the
radio waves which enabling wirelesstransfer of data between tags and the reader.

A passive RFID tag has no on board power source. But they are passively powered by the energy
from the electromagnetic field of the RFID reader. The antenna present in the passive tag converts
the energy from electromagnetic field of the reader into an RF wave that is transmitted into the
coverage zone of the reader.

Passive RFID tags find eligibility in applications which require low range of detection like access
control, supply chain management etc. Apart from active and passive tags there is a new
classification called Battery assisted passive tags . These tags have a small on board batteries
which get activated in the presence of an RFID reader.
It is clear that the above classification is based on the availability of power source in the RFID
tag. Also it is known that the tags contain vital data regarding the object that is being tracked. The
memory in the tags can be either a read only type of memory (a unique serial code embedded into
the chip) or a read write/ programmable memory type in which the data in the tag can be written by
the end user.

Comparing The Hound Of The Baskervilles By Arthur Conan Doyle
The differences are obvious as Arthur Conan Doyle states. (Doyle, 51) As all stories that have
been both stories and books, there will he obviously some similarities and some differences
between the two versions. The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle and the more
recent movie in the 2012 TV series Sherlock , are two great examples to compare and contrast
story lines. It is these two pieces that I will be writing about. Returning to Doyle s quote, it is
obvious while looking for differences. It s what makes each version stand out. Now, the
differences may alter the story slightly, but the similarities bring back the most important details
back to the same main idea. As for my opinion on my personal preference, I will be writing about
that as well. The differences are what makes it unique from the other version, while the
similarities bring it back to the same story. Similarities, differences and my personal opinion will
be what this essay is about. To keep the same plot of the two versions of a story there must be
some similarities to keep it on the same track. The similarities are the main ideas that are found in
both versions of the stories. Mr. Holmes, they were the footsteps of a gigantic hound! (Doyle, 30).

The Theory Of The Second Pulley
For Case 1, in order for equilibrium to be achieved, the fourth pulley was at 259.44 degrees and 35
grams on the hanger. The experimental equilibrant force magnitude, 35 grams, was a little bit
higher than the calculated equilibrant force magnitude, 31.170 grams. The experimental equilibrant
force direction did agree with the calculated equilibrant forcedirection for this scenario. There was a
12.5% percent error for Case 1.
For Case 2, the fourth pulley was at 15 degrees and 50 grams on the hanger. The experimental
equilibrant force magnitude, 50 grams, was way higher than the calculated equilibrated force
magnitude, 35.64 grams. Additionally, the calculated equilibrant force direction, 194.99 degrees,
did not agree with the experimental equilibrant force direction, 15 degrees. During the
experiment, when the fourth pulley was put on 194.99 degrees and tested with different grams on
the hanger, the ring in the center of the force table was not able to hold firmly. So, different
angles and masses were tested to achieve equilibrium. After various trial and errors, 15 degrees
with 50 grams was the one that was able to hold the ring firmly in the center. Since the
experimental equilibrant force was found through trial and errors, there was a pretty high percent
error of 44.5%.
For Case 3, the fourth pulley was at 275 degrees with 50 grams. . The experimental equilibrant force
magnitude, 50 grams, was higher than the calculated equilibrated force magnitude, 45.28 grams.

United Nations Shortcomings
The United Nations is one of the most well known international organizations in the world. It tries
to serve the task of maintaining international order by promoting international collaboration
throughout its 193 member states and various agencies. The United Nations facilitates order by the
coordination of international security, international law, economic development, human rights,
social progress, and trying to maintain world peace. Overall, the United Nationshas failed to deliver
on its main objectives which has resulted in the organization having little to no power. The United
Nations shortcomings are evidently shown through the United Nations Security Council s (UNSC)
unsuccessful prevention of international conflicts, its organization s ignorance towards human
rights crimes, and the little to no authoritative power that the organization possesses in resolving
conflicts as a mediator.
The United Nations most widely known purpose is to prevent conflicts within and between
countries. However, the United Nations has failed to prevent a plethora of conflicts, resulting in
catastrophic consequences. An ongoing conflict, The Somali Civil War began in 1991. In 1992, as
the Somali Civil War crisis worsened, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) sanctioned the
Unified Task Force (UNITAF) to initiate a safe and protective environment to allow humanitarian
efforts to proceed. However, the UN s efforts completely failed, resulting in a crisis.

When you think of science and religion you automatically think that they are the polar opposite of
one another, and while yes they do tend to have conflicting sides to them, they actually have some
things in common. This goes without saying that they do have varying ideas on certain topics
which will be discussed. Of the plethora of different topics, we will be discussing the views of
science and religion on, homosexuals, evolution, afterlife, and purpose. Not only will we be
talking about those topics, we will also discuss the variety of conflicting views of different
religions. Many of these topics are controversial and many religions will have different views,
some may be violent, some peaceful, whilst others may be indifferent. Regardless of the position
that everyone takes we all just want to understand or feel like we understand the universe and
why we are here. We will start off with science, science in many cases is stoic and homosexuality
is not an exception, but regardless of the stoicism, the fact is you see it in nature, in a book
published by Simon LeVay, a neuroscientist from the University of Harvard, Gottingen, and
Cambridge, he states about 10% of rams (male) refuse to mate with ewes (females) but do readily
mate with other rams (LeVay, 2010, pg 70 71). The next topic for examination is Evolution, or as
some creationists may say the theory of evolution , and yes it is a theory, but in science when
something is a theory it is the

Role of Chinese History on People’s Imagination
As great philosopher George Santayana once said, Those who cannot remember the past are
condemned to repeat it. History plays a critical role in understanding why the present is the way
it is, and it allows us to make conscious decisions about the future. By examining and analyzing
historical events, we are able to dive into the past in order to gain insight on direction to the
future. One must be able to learn about the past, learn about mistakes and problems, in order to
move forward. In class, we had dove into the distinction between analyzing historical context.
We discussed how gigantic history takes a precedent model and is easily understood as a
trajectory of historical events. One can compare and contrast how courses were taken by the
active role of nations, their governments and revolutions, and how society has been molded to fit
specific ideologies. On the contrary, we also discussed the opposite of gigantic history, which
would be referred to as minuscule history. It posits that history is more of a collection of ideas
taken from personal experiences of people that are brought together to explain significant historical
events. Building a foundational historical pivot point from which to move is crucial to how China
perceived itself in becoming one of the world s global leading countries today. Role of Chinese
history on people s imagination of their country and themselves: China has had a profound
influence by western powers during the imperialist conquests

The World s Wife By. Duffy
As suggested by the title of the anthology, Duffy s poems within The World s Wife place the
focus on women in an inherently patriarchal and male dominated world. This is also true of Mrs
Beast , in which Duffy reimagines the traditional fairy tale of The Beauty and the Beast to give
Mrs Beast dominance over her husband, as well as financial and emotional independence. The
opening lines of Mrs Beast set the tone for the rest of the poem, linking all of the characters
mentioned throughout The World s Wife , as well as listing many other women with stories that
would fit the themes of the sequence due to their exploitation by men. This acts as a warning to
men from Mrs Beast, who sees these women in herself, commenting: so when you... Show more

This inversion of the traditional roles in a fairytale is also present throughout the rest of the
stanza, as Mrs Beast describes herself as no longer a girl, knowing my own mind, / my own gold
stashed in the bank, / my own black horse at the gates , demonstrating that she is able to take
care of herself with no need for help. Moreover, her financial and emotional independence is
highlighted by the anaphora of my own , with repetition similar to this used by Duffy throughout
The World s Wife , particularly in Little Red Cap . However, the effect of the use of anaphora in
Mrs Beast contrasts with its effect in Little Red Cap at the beginning of the sequence, which
describes a girl progressing from innocence and naivety at childhood s end to saving herself and
becoming independent ten years later. Despite these differences, both poems similarly
reimagine fairytales, with Mrs Beast being what Little Red Cap could grow up to become with
her new found independence, as Mrs Beast demonstrates her ability to take care of herself and
be carried off at one wrong word, / one false move, one dirty look . In juxtaposition with this, the
Beast is presented as submissive and similar to a slave rather than as the traditional handsome
and arrogant prince of fairytales. He is treated and described as an animal instead of a person,
falling to his knees at the door for Mrs Beast and kiss(ing) her glove with his mongrel lips ,
reflecting his

A Comparison of Irony in Crime and Punishment and A...
Use of Irony in Crime and Punishment and A Doll s House
There are many links between Crime and Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and A Doll s House,
by Henrik Isben. Each character goes through many ironic situations. Throughout both of the works
dramatic, situational, and verbal irony are used.
Dramatic irony is used throughout Crime and Punishment. The reader knows that Rodion
Romanovitch Raskolnikov killed the pawnbroker, Alyona Ivanovna, and her sister, Lizaveta
Ivanovna. A quote to support this is,
He took the axe right out, swung it up in both hands, barely conscious of what he was doing, and
almost without effort, almost effort, almost mechanically, brought the butt of it down on the old
woman s head. (Dostoyevsky ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In A Doll s House the reader is aware that Nora borrowed money from Krogstad without her
husband s permission. Nora also forged her father s name to gain the money. She says, You don t
know all. I forged a name. (Isben 44) In the following conversation between Nora and Christine it
is clearly stated that Torvald does not know of Nora s actions: Mrs. Linde. And since then have
you never told your secret to your husband? Nora. Good heavens, no! (Isben 13)
Another example of dramatic irony in A Doll s House is when Nora wants to practice a dance
called the Tarantella. When Torvald goes to look in the letter box Nora says, Torvald please don
t. There is nothing in there. (Isben 46) The reader knows that Nora has not forgotten the dance.
The reader knows this when Torvald goes to check the mail and Nora begins to play the
Tarantella. Nora then says, I can t dance to morrow if I don t practise with you. (Isben 46) The
reader knows that all Nora is trying to do is keep Torvald from reading the mail which contains a
letter from Krogstad.
Situational irony is also used throughout the two works. In Crime and Punishment Raskolnikov is
the one who murdered the two sisters. It was totally unexpected when Nikolai came to

Elizabeth Cady Stanton s Heroic Qualities
Introduction background on mid late 1800 s and the Civil Rights Movement. Define what it would
take to be a hero during that time period. (Thesis) Elizabeth Cady Stanton demonstrated how she
was a hero through her passion for women s rights, her courage to stand up for what she believed,
and her ability to overcome the discrimination that she faced all her life. Elizabeth Cady Stanton
showed heroism through her strong passion for women s rights. All throughout her life, Stanton s
actions showed how passionate and determined she was. It was these two things that were the
driving force behind everything she did. This passion made Stanton hero because she was willing to
go to lengths that no one else would. Though Elizabeth Cady Stanton showed her passion
throughout her whole life, it became unmistakable when she was studying in her fathers law office
after she graduated, when she traveled to London for the International Anti Slavery Convention,
and when she worked with Susan B. Anthony. Stanton s passion for women s rights started to
become evident when she studied in her father s law office. Elizabeth Cady Stanton graduated
from Emma Williams Female Seminary in 1833, and then began to study laws and government
history in her father s office (DISCovering Biography 4). While at Judge Cady s office, Stanton
saw a never ending flow of weeping women coming in, all looking for legal help that Judge Cady
could not provide. The more women that came in, the more Elizabeth became

Pros And Cons Of John Muir
John Muir is best known for his efforts to preserve the wilderness of the United States, which
greatly contributed to the preservation of countless natural areas of the US through the National
Parks Service. During his travels across the country and abroad, Muir recorded his thoughts and
beliefs about nature and the fundamental connection people share with the earth. By voyaging into
the wild and shedding the restraints and ideals of modern society, Muir argues that people can
expand their understanding of the world and experience life to its full potential through immersing
themselves in nature. First and foremost a researcher of the environment, Muir believed that by
spending time in nature, he could more deeply understand the earth and all of the knowledge it has
to offer. During one of his numerous expeditions in the Yosemite Valley
in 1869, Muir remarks that
...these lawless wanderings will be valuable as suggestive beginnings... if I should return to the
awkward rules laws of civilization be buried as a strand into the thick of society. He knows that if
he returns to civilization, his excursions will be no more than beginnings of research that will
serve no real purpose. He further comments that, These sweet free roamings be as little chinks
seams on life s horizon whence I may obtain narrow glimpses of the treasures of the Kingdoms of
Nature beyond. Just as the horizon blocks out sunlight, Muir argues that civilization blocks out the
opportunity to discover

  • 2. Anabolic Steroids In Sports In society today, winning is considered everything. Man is always trying to beat their opponent no matter what it takes. Some athletes are willing to do anything that could potentially be life threatening in order to get their 15 seconds of fame. This something is known as anabolic steroids. Anabolic steroids have come to improve many athletes physical activity, but also ruin an immense amount of lives forever. Although it may give someone the power to feel good, be stronger, and build up more muscle, the negative effects strongly outweigh the positives. All athletes dream big. They have the desire to stand on the podium with a gold metal, receive an athletic award, or win the world championships. Sometimes the desire to achieve gets so high... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, it is not completely uncommon for athletes to test positive for steroids. Amazing, talented competitors like Barry Bonds, Marion Jones, and Lance Armstrong were all illegal users of steroids. They did as many things as they could to not get caught, but eventually they did. Imagine all of the die hard fans that found out that their favorite athlete cheated through sports. Kids look up to athletes as role models and aspire to be like them one day, but the let down of discovering that an athlete wasn t competing the way its body naturally could is devastating. Seeing all this success through the use of steroids could actually promote people to use it. This is an extremely bad idea because anabolic steroids ultimately lead to a path of physical and mental hopelessness. Anabolic steroids can be extremely harmful. If the body is already producing a proper amount of testosterone, there is no reason to be adding more. It is unhealthy for the body and results in abnormal effects. Acne, liver disorders, blood pressure increase, possible HIV, sexual diseases, atrophy, infertility, prostate enlargement, lower speaking voice, thinner hair, aggressive behavior, depression, and lower hormonal levels are just a few of the side effects as a result of taking steroids. None of these are positive, so why should athletes be using them if they have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Americans Should Be Allowed To Have Freedom Of Speech In the first amendment it clearly states that we have the right to say anything we feel. We Americans have what is called freedom of speech . We can express this right in many ways: like protesting against something we do not believe in, saying what we want when we feel it or posting what we want to online. People have just recently become too emotional. They get their feelings hurt too easily and find a way to take offense to every little thing we say that they don t like. Unlike most I do not think we should have a limit on our speech. if people want to post online what they think, then they should be able to post it without backlash from others. Our social media pages are for our own personal enjoyment. It is a place where we are able to post our feelings and thoughts on current events. If someone posts something you do not like there are two simple ways to handle it. You could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone has a different upbringing and you should not be angry when someone expresses their feelings. You should be able to say what you want in public without being attacked. If you get angry at someone for stating their personal opinion, then you are in the wrong. Most people say that you are not mature when you voice what comes to your mind, but the truth is if you are unable to ignore things that people say that you do not agree with then you are the immature one. Some people are more filtered than others and it is not your job to control that. In conclusion, people have the right to free speech. At the end of the day we have the right to say what comes to our mind. Not everything that comes out of people s mouth may be right or always appropriate, but as adults we should be able to ignore it. Unless they are planning on changing this amendment any time soon everyone should try and get used to the fact that at the end of the day people will say what comes to their mind no matter how unethical it may ... Although they both wanted very similar things to happen to their countries, they used very different tactics. The main points in their rules where economical, political and social. And all points affected their people in many ways. First, to make each of their countries stronger economically Ghandi and Mao changed laws and broke rules. During the British rule in India there was a salt tax, which made it very hard for the people of china to buy salt, but it was illegal for them to make their own salt. Second, to make each of their countries stronger politically, Ghandi and Mao generally treated the people equally, and changed key parts of the old ways which gained each of them political support. Gandhi, held peaceful protests, such as passbook burnings that he first created in South Africa. Mao on the other hand, known for not being a great speaker reached out and gained support by the things he did. He, gave his people better education, gave woman more rights, by stopping the foot binding. Took out Confucianism and said that people could marry for love not because the man wanted to marry a women or a marriage being arranged. Although they used theses tactics in similar ways they were different in the ways that they lived. When communicating with others we use words, we speak, write, and read. But if one can t perform those tasks, communication is simply out of reach. The essay Homemade Education by Malcolm X, a minister and a civil right activist, describes how his experience of learninghow to read and write in prison changes his life as he became both an articulate speaker and writer. Similarly, Helen Keller, an author and political activist shares her experience being both deaf and blind in an excerpt called A Word for Everything. She explains how learning a new languageopened her to all the joys and horrors of the world. I, like many other authors, also had an experience concerning language and how it changed my perspective of the world. Speaking Chinese and Vietnamese as my first languages in the United States made me run into societal barriers and restrictions. However, by learning English, I could open myself to new possibilities and experiences. By learning and struggling through the experience of language; new perspectives are opened up such as how one views themselves, the world, and society. There is a motive each person has that causes them to want to learn, experience, and struggle with language. It features two main characters Vladimir and Estragon who wait tirelessly for Godot. These two seem not to undergo any transformation throughout the scenes. In the same play, Pozzo, a master and Lucky, his slave becomes blind and dumb respectively in Act II. The character Godot, a mute character, is the reason Vladimir and Estragon wait patiently at the roadside after his messenger, a boy delivered the message of his coming. The author utilizes the same setting throughout the play which a secluded road with only one tree. Unlike other plays which have a progressive story line and climax at the end, Waiting for Godot has only two Acts and it ends in almost the same state in which the main characters were in Act I. The play employs the style of repetition in various occasions. An author replicates the setting of the play all through and the characters tend to use the same wordings. In any creative writing, repetition is used to create attention, rhythm or to emphasis on a specific theme (William Kolbrener, (2010). • 12. The Trials And Tribulations Of A Transformational Leader... The Trials Tribulations of a Transformational Leader Brandon Kent ASU, PAF 410 September 22, 2016 Throughout time, many books and papers have been written to study the birthplace of leadership failure, its causes, results, and ultimately, the best way to oversea these situations to avoid future failures. Some leadership experts, may argue that the best way to learn how to lead, is to study successful leadership outcomes and more importantly, how former miscalculations were committed and as a result, what gran plan was used that resulted in the leaders turnaround success. To be a great leader, the individual has to be cognate of what elements, including external and internal impact, resulted in their failure, as well as, how to avoid leadership oversight in the future. In this paper, I will attempt to do just that, as I will incorporate the transactional and transformational leadership theory from this course and apply them to the leadership failures of one of the most entertaining leadership failures of all time: the DeLorean Motor Company. From a business perspective, the ramifications of leadership failure differ in size depending on the severity of the situation. If market conditions are fixed and the competitive atmosphere is not extraordinarily punishing, leadership failures may not be that bad for the business. If, however, the market is going through dramatic change, which demands equally dramatic change in the organization, failure to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Marlowe and Ralegh knew each other and Ralegh s poem is a witty response to his friend s pastoral verse. In verse one of The Passionate Shepherd to his Love , Christopher Marlowe gets straight to the point by saying, Come live with me . This shows just how eager the shepherd is and then there is a pause where he goes on to say, ...and by my love . This is more of a gentle tone and softens what has just been said. In the next line there are two uses of alliteration, And we will all the pleasures prove... , and the w s and p s add a persuasive definite feel to the verse. • 16. Transcendentalism In Young Goodman Brown In Young Goodman Brown , Hawthorne demonstrates common inter turmoil, especially in regard to spiritual state. In an attempt to discover himself and satisfy his innermost being, Young Goodman Brown becomes a shattered, shell of a man. The question at hand is not religion, nor is it purely spiritual, Hawthorne simply encourages his reader to search themselves with the understanding and realization that once searched, the readers may not like what they find. Hawthorne himself seems to struggle with this reality as he straddled his Puritan upbringing and transcendentalist revelations, as expressed through Young Goodman Browns realization of the hypocrisy of the Puritan with whom he resides. Hawthorne shows the potential horror of man to his readers as hidden evil inside of man. As Hawthorne develops his story, the reader is challenged by the nature of man, and what the reader wants the nature of man to be, which Hawthorne understands to be sinful. The traveling companion, the third character introduced to the reader, is a symbol of the inner demon residing within Young GoodmanBrown. The companion was waiting for Young Goodman Brown, and apparently in the same rank of life as Goodman Brown, and bearing a considerable resemblance to him, though perhaps more in expression than features (2). The main reason for global warming is the increment of using fossil fuels as a key source of energy across the board, so some developed countries have started to transform the non renewable power sources to renewable resources. Solar and wind energysystems are two kinds of renewable source of energy. Even if solar and wind powerdiffer in methods of generating power, they bring similar benefits to the society and environment. Solar and wind energy have different processes to produce electricity. Solar energy creates electricity by making large amounts of heat, which is conducted through electrical conductors and changed into electrical power. In most solar systems, solar panels mounted on the roof. These panels contain photovoltaic cells made from silicon that convert incoming sunlight into electricity instead of heat. ( Photovoltaic means electricity from light photo = light, voltaic = electricity.) The photons of the sunlight knock the electrons from the silicon, as a result, the negatively electrons accumulate in one side of the silicon cell to create electrical voltage. This current form photovoltaic array and flows through PV array cables, which are terminated in one fused array combiner box. It is designed to protect the PV cell cables, and to deliver DC (Direct Current) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Not until Eli Whitney s invention of the cotton gin did the issue of slavery spark up again and cotton begins to thrive. In 1820 Missouri wished to be part of the Union as a slave state. With there already being an equality of Slave states and Free states it caused tension and sectionalism within the country; because of the edition of Missouri would cause an unbalance of free and slave states. In hopes to resolve this conflict a compromise was reached known as the Missouri Compromise. Through the Missouri Compromise Missouri was able to enter as a slave state, while Maine was able to enter as a free state. However, as pointed out, it created a line between slave states and Free states. Any state below Missouri was able to practice slavery, and any state above was to be a Free State. • 22. Research On The Learning Of An Educational Setup Essay 1.0 Introduction New Zealand social researchers Carl Davidson and Martin Tolich (1999) point out that research fulfils three roles exploring, describing and explaining (as cited in Mutch, 2005, p. 16). Research helps to add more qualitative information to an existing body of knowledge or helps to decipher a problem existing in an educational setup. Sometimes, research tends to bring into light certain issues that required attention. Baumfield and Butterworth (2005) suggest that engagement in research by teachers has a positive impact on the learning of the pupils in their classrooms (as cited in Menter, Elliot, Hulme, Lewin, Lowden, 2011, p. 14). Having taught General Science to primary and middle school students (ages 9 11) and Chemistry to secondary section students (ages 13 15), I have observed a change in the students approach towards the study of Science. As the students progressed to higher grades, they started losing their interest in science. Applying scientific concepts in practical scenarios became a challenging process and yet, many continued to study science simply due to the pressure of choosing a career in the field of medicine or engineering. 2.0 Aim of my research As a science teacher, lesson planning involves setting specific learning objectives and predicting the expected outcomes. Ruin is defined as the physical destruction or disintegration of something or the state of disintegrating or being destroyed. In the Romanticism literary period, we see how they appreciate the things in life like nature; however, in today s society, we ruin many things such as, nature by building things that are unnecessary or littering. People need to learn to respect and admire nature. If we would live based on the ideas out of Walden by Henry David Thoreau, we would live a simple life and we would learn to appreciate nature and admire the beauty of it. Often, more times than not, we take things for granted. We are too busy with our lives today to stop and just let the little things settle in for a minute. In a few of the writings, we even see how nature is a relaxer and helps different people cope with things or calm them down. Nature is vital to life; it influences where we live, who we are, and it also provides us with support. Numerous amounts of people do not understand what we do and the affects of what we do until it is too late. Even Muggles feel their presence, though they can t see them (Rowling 187). A major factor driving the action and theme of J.K. Rowling s third book, Harry Potterand the Prisoner of Azkaban, is the element of fear represented by the dementors upon the magical community and the terror felt when witches and wizards were threatened by the Dementor s horrific Kiss. In the scene (246 248) where Harry Potter and Professor Lupin are having a drink at the Three Broomsticks tavern, Harry decides to ask about the dementors and the Dementor s Kiss. This scene is important because it ties together all the previous information about the dementors, and emphasizes how negatively they epitomize the forces of evil in the magical community, in which Harry Potter and other witches and wizards live. Harry says to Professor Lupin What is under the dementor s hood? (Rowling 246), the professor s answer is both truthful and frightening. Professor Lupin mentions that the dementors are so evil that even the Muggle community fears their presence, but cannot see them or know what kind of creatures they really are, and therefore, the Muggle community is only aware of the strange cold feeling that makes them afraid of unseen entities. China s Politics And Economy In addition, China s politics and economy have great differences with western countries because of the special national conditions, that the political power (or government) may have a prominent or even overwhelming strength relative to the economy (or business), which may have a decisive influence on economic development. First, the government lead economy has caused excessive pursuit of economic development but neglect the quality of development (Zhou, Zhang Shen, 2015). Second is the government s control and allocation of resources and the dominant mode of development of the state owned economy have caused a series of problems like the loss of economic benefits to a certain extent (Dollar, 1990). So the excessive concentration of political and administrative power caused by the low degree legalization and democratization in Chinese economy may have resulted in some obstacles in the economic development to enterprises, and this kind of rent seeking which has political power to control economic resources and the right of examination and approval maybe one of the reasons caused China s corruption and damaged the normal order of the market economy. Though this song has remained popular to this day, even being used in the hit show Cheers, the height of its popularity came around the time it was written. In the 1920s, the popularity of social dance and jazz was at an all time high. This song, which was a mix of a ballad and a jazz piece, was a sure hit. Originally written for a MusicBox Revue, it was composed in AABA form, and had a distinct sombre feel to it. Irving Berlin wrote several Music Box Revues from 1921 to 1924, adding this particular piece to the score of the Third Musical Box Revue shortly before the closing of its run. After the initial run of this piece, the popularity remained enough so that in 1947, The Nat King ColeTrio recorded it as a solo piece. Proving its posterity it was later included on their CD: Cool Cole, The King Cole Trio Story , released in 2002. The performers in this recording included Nat King Cole as the vocalist, with Oscar Moore and Johnny Miller on the instrumental backing. This was one of the last performances given before Nat King Cole began to phase out of the group to focus on his own solo career. We will start off with science, science in many cases is stoic and homosexuality is not an exception, but regardless of the stoicism, the fact is you see it in nature, in a book published by Simon LeVay, a neuroscientist from the University of Harvard, Gottingen, and Cambridge, he states about 10% of rams (male) refuse to mate with ewes (females) but do readily mate with other rams (LeVay, 2010, pg 70 71). The next topic for examination is Evolution, or as some creationists may say the theory of evolution , and yes it is a theory, but in science when something is a theory it is the ... • 40. Role of Chinese History on People’s Imagination As great philosopher George Santayana once said, Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. History plays a critical role in understanding why the present is the way it is, and it allows us to make conscious decisions about the future. By examining and analyzing historical events, we are able to dive into the past in order to gain insight on direction to the future. One must be able to learn about the past, learn about mistakes and problems, in order to move forward. In class, we had dove into the distinction between analyzing historical context. We discussed how gigantic history takes a precedent model and is easily understood as a trajectory of historical events. One can compare and contrast how courses were taken by the active role of nations, their governments and revolutions, and how society has been molded to fit specific ideologies. On the contrary, we also discussed the opposite of gigantic history, which would be referred to as minuscule history. It posits that history is more of a collection of ideas taken from personal experiences of people that are brought together to explain significant historical events. Building a foundational historical pivot point from which to move is crucial to how China perceived itself in becoming one of the world s global leading countries today. Role of Chinese history on people s imagination of their country and themselves: China has had a profound influence by western powers during the imperialist conquests ... • 41. The World s Wife By. Duffy As suggested by the title of the anthology, Duffy s poems within The World s Wife place the focus on women in an inherently patriarchal and male dominated world. This is also true of Mrs Beast , in which Duffy reimagines the traditional fairy tale of The Beauty and the Beast to give Mrs Beast dominance over her husband, as well as financial and emotional independence. The opening lines of Mrs Beast set the tone for the rest of the poem, linking all of the characters mentioned throughout The World s Wife , as well as listing many other women with stories that would fit the themes of the sequence due to their exploitation by men. This acts as a warning to men from Mrs Beast, who sees these women in herself, commenting: so when you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This inversion of the traditional roles in a fairytale is also present throughout the rest of the stanza, as Mrs Beast describes herself as no longer a girl, knowing my own mind, / my own gold stashed in the bank, / my own black horse at the gates , demonstrating that she is able to take care of herself with no need for help. Moreover, her financial and emotional independence is highlighted by the anaphora of my own , with repetition similar to this used by Duffy throughout The World s Wife , particularly in Little Red Cap . However, the effect of the use of anaphora in Mrs Beast contrasts with its effect in Little Red Cap at the beginning of the sequence, which describes a girl progressing from innocence and naivety at childhood s end to saving herself and becoming independent ten years later. Despite these differences, both poems similarly reimagine fairytales, with Mrs Beast being what Little Red Cap could grow up to become with her new found independence, as Mrs Beast demonstrates her ability to take care of herself and be carried off at one wrong word, / one false move, one dirty look . In juxtaposition with this, the Beast is presented as submissive and similar to a slave rather than as the traditional handsome and arrogant prince of fairytales. He is treated and described as an animal instead of a person, falling to his knees at the door for Mrs Beast and kiss(ing) her glove with his mongrel lips , reflecting his ... Use of Irony in Crime and Punishment and A Doll s House There are many links between Crime and Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and A Doll s House, by Henrik Isben. Each character goes through many ironic situations. Throughout both of the works dramatic, situational, and verbal irony are used. Dramatic irony is used throughout Crime and Punishment. The reader knows that Rodion Romanovitch Raskolnikov killed the pawnbroker, Alyona Ivanovna, and her sister, Lizaveta Ivanovna. A quote to support this is, He took the axe right out, swung it up in both hands, barely conscious of what he was doing, and almost without effort, almost effort, almost mechanically, brought the butt of it down on the old woman s head. And since then have you never told your secret to your husband? Nora. Good heavens, no! (Isben 13) Another example of dramatic irony in A Doll s House is when Nora wants to practice a dance called the Tarantella. When Torvald goes to look in the letter box Nora says, Torvald please don t. There is nothing in there. (Isben 46) The reader knows that Nora has not forgotten the dance. The reader knows this when Torvald goes to check the mail and Nora begins to play the Tarantella. Nora then says, I can t dance to morrow if I don t practise with you. (Isben 46) The reader knows that all Nora is trying to do is keep Torvald from reading the mail which contains a letter from Krogstad. Situational irony is also used throughout the two works. • 47. Pros And Cons Of John Muir John Muir is best known for his efforts to preserve the wilderness of the United States, which greatly contributed to the preservation of countless natural areas of the US through the National Parks Service. During his travels across the country and abroad, Muir recorded his thoughts and beliefs about nature and the fundamental connection people share with the earth. By voyaging into the wild and shedding the restraints and ideals of modern society, Muir argues that people can expand their understanding of the world and experience life to its full potential through immersing themselves in nature. First and foremost a researcher of the environment, Muir believed that by spending time in nature, he could more deeply understand the earth and all of the knowledge it has to offer. During one of his numerous expeditions in the Yosemite Valley in 1869, Muir remarks that ...these lawless wanderings will be valuable as suggestive beginnings... if I should return to the awkward rules laws of civilization be buried as a strand into the thick of society. He knows that if he returns to civilization, his excursions will be no more than beginnings of research that will serve no real purpose. He further comments that, These sweet free roamings be as little chinks seams on life s horizon whence I may obtain narrow glimpses of the treasures of the Kingdoms of Nature beyond. Just as the horizon blocks out sunlight, Muir argues that civilization blocks out the opportunity to discover ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
