Hearing Loss Association Of America
Background Hearing loss is one of the most common physical conditions in the United States. It
has been referred to as an invisible condition, as we can t see it occurring; all we see is the
effects of it (Hearing Loss Association of America). The severity of the loss can range in the
classifications of mild, moderate, severe, or profound. It can also occur in just one ear, or both.
Hearing loss can occur at any age. People can be born with deafness (which is known as
congenital hearing loss), or lose their hearing over a gradual period of time. Causes of why
hearing loss occurs vary per person. The most common cause of loss is noise and aging. Buildup
in the air, injury, ear infection, rupture eardrum are other causes as well. For children who suffer
from hearing loss, most are born with it. Today, in the United States, every two thirds of every
one thousand children are deaf or hard of hearing (Hearing Loss Association of America). This
causes their everyday lives to be shaped much differently than normal children. They may have
cochlear implants to help them hear. In fact, In the United States, more than 25,000 children have
received cochlear implants (Lenihan 2010). The child may also have a translator in the classroom
to help them understand their regular teacher or may using American Sign Language (ASL) to
help them in terms of speaking to another. How They Learn Professor Donald Moores says: The

Mein Kampf And The Formation Of Hitlers Ideas Essay
Mein Kampf And The Formation Of Hitlers Ideas
The dominant political figure of German history in the twentieth century, Adolf Hitler, was born
in a lower middle class family in the provincial Austrian town of Braunau am Inn on 20 April
1889. In 1907 Hitler applied to enter the Vienna Academy of Art but his application was rejected.
After the death of his mother Klara, Hitler decided to move to Vienna. He drifted from job to
job, often selling sketches or painting scenes of Old Vienna and it was a period that he himself
later called the most miserable period of his life. Many of Hitler s views of the world were shaped
by his experiences on the streets of Vienna and it is probable that his violent anti Semitism dates
from this time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A central theme of Hitler s thinking was the concept of struggle. In the nineteenth century the
naturalist Charles Darwin had explained how in the world of nature when the environment changed
some of the species with favourable variations survived better that others. Darwin called this natural
selection .
Social Darwinism was a concept that emerged later in the nineteenth century suggesting that what
applied to nature could also apply to human society that the strong prevail over the weak, that
superior races prevail over inferior races. This concept with its theme of struggle and survival of
the fittest appealed to Hitler. Struggle wrote Hitler is the father of all things...He who wants to live
must fight and who does not want to fight in this world where external struggle is the law of life
has no right to exist *.
In Mein Kamph Hitler offered some insight into his thinking on exercise of power and in
particular the important role of propaganda, his contempt of parliamentary democracy and the
Weimar Republic. Hitler also wrote of the need for a national revival and the quest for living
space. Hitler linked his hatred of communism with his hatred of Jews. In Hitler s mind Russia was
the centre

Benefits Of The Uk Retaining An Unwritten Constitution
Constitution is a body of fundamental principles that sets out a framework of precedent which
regulates the functions, powers and duties amongst the organs of the government. It provides
authority to how such organs as the executive, legislative and judiciary must operate under a
constitution law. The fundamental purpose of a constitutionis being able to establish the roles and
powers of different branches of a state alongside the perspectives and rights of its citizens. The
United Kingdomis considered to have a constitution however, unlike the substantial countries like
the United States of America and Australia, who currently have a sole codified document. In
comparison, to the UK, Israel and New Zealand who are amongst the only three countries in the
world that have a distinctive constitution which does not have a single codified constitution. This
essay will be exploring and evaluating the advantages of the UK retaining an unwritten constitution,
in comparison to the potentials of the UK drafting a written constitution and its capability of being
flexible, alongside referencing made to John Alder and further academics.
A significant feature of the British constitution, is arguably said to be flexible to a certain extend,
in contrast to a rigid constitution such as the USA. Albert Venn Dicey defined a flexible
constitution as one under which every law of description can legally be changed with the same
ease and in the same manner by one and the same body.

Gender Issues in August Strindberg s Miss Julie
August Strindberg was undoubtedly a contemporary writer, but where gender issues were
concerned, he preferred to support the past. His work reflected the cultural and societal
environment around him in 1887; this suggests themes throughout Miss Julie, such as gender
inequality and women s rights, were inflicted by his own struggle between classes and
promiscuous relationships with women. It becomes apparent in the play that Miss Julie, a self
portrait of Strindberg, typifies Strindberg s creative energy and the close relationship between his
writing and lifestyle. Miss Julie s downfall can be associated with many aspects of her life, ranging
from the masculine influence in her life, to her degenerated brain, thus making her a damaged,...

Mind you, Strindberg believed women to be of secondary form, despite him preaching equality
of the sexes in marriage in The Red Room . Strindberg cleverly blurs the divisions of class and
sex within Miss Julie , as in his patriarchal society, men had control of who is at the top, and who
is at the bottom, hence the use of metaphors I m on top of a high pillar . Therefore, it is applicable
that the battle of sexes and gender inequality are responsible for Miss Julie s inevitable fate.
Because I m a man, I m young conveys Jean s desire to the audience, while the sinister language
is used to suggest that Jean is allowed to play with fire empowering himself over Miss Julie. On
top of this, Miss Julie is also presented as a dominant character, suggesting a sense of competition
from the start She was training him . On the other hand, this clarifies the battle of the sexes, as the
struggle for supremacy appears in Miss Julie s failed effort to dominate her fiancГ©.
Certainly, it seems that the winner of the battle claims power as a prize, and thus Jean s feeble
attempt to climb the social ladder represents the infamous battle. I listen when my betters are
talking, listen and learn suggests that Jean is channelling her position in authority, whilst his use of

Maritime Silk Road Research Paper
The Maritime Silk Road also played an important historical role. The Han Dynasty s ocean trade
routes reached as far as South Asia. There have been records of trade between the Han Dynasty, the
Persian and Roman empires. These trade accounts were all achieved using these methods or
maritime routes. The imported goods from this route were mainly small ornaments. Later, these sea
routes connected coastal cities. This helped make trade flow more smoothly. Some of the routes
also went through the Strait of Malacca to the Indian Peninsula. Chinas wealthier class prospered
from the beneficiaries of the luxury products given to them during the Han Dynasty. However, the
usage of the maritime Silk Road was limited for various reasons. Out of the Han Dynasty, there
was the establishment of a shipping lane between Guangdong and India. This helped spread the
material culture of all the countries involved in the intricate routes of the Silk Road. The usage
of a maritime Silk Road encouraged the spread of trade to a more vast area. This can be seen
when the routes extended to the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. It touched the Arab Empire and
the East African coast as well. The Maritime Silk Road had other names as well. It was also known
as the Maritime Chinaware Road. It is interesting because these names reflected the goods that had
been transported there.
The maritime Silk Road had many aspects to its complex self. The Maritime Silk Road, similar to
the older Silk Road was

Martin Luther King Jr was a famous Civil Rights leader, and widely known for his I have a

also very active in building her own career in activism of her own rights. Working hand in hand
alongside her husband, they both continued to persuade the people and grab the attention of
millions across the nation. Just as biography.com stated Among many roles, she worked as a
public mediator and as a liaison to peace and justice organizations. Mrs. King was a very hard
working woman but some seem to underestimate her of being such a vital part of the American

This woman was influential in so many ways. Through her speeches, work, making it known

Prejudice And Racism By John Edgar Wideman
Racism has been one of society s major issue, which still has no resolution. Many Americans are
still unaware of the presence racism holds in their society, schools, and workplaces. The lack of
acknowledgment for modern day racism stems from the idea that African Americans are no longer
subjects to the violence of slavery and laws have been passed that not only protect their rights, but
prevent such acts of violence from happening again, therefore African Americans have reached
equality and racismhas been resolved. However, the circle of racism and its perverse logic remains
unbroken (Weidman 32). This statement is not to discredit the progress African Americans have
made in achieving equal opportunities, but rather show that although racism... Show more content

U.s. Healthcare Systems Of The United States
U.S. Healthcare Systems
The United States has a broad history of diversity and challenges that no other country has faced.
One of those challenges has been providing healthcare for its citizens. Healthcare in the United
States started out with many religious groups that wanted to help those in need. This form of
care for the people of this country has grown to a healthcare system that accounts for 3.2 trillion
dollars of the nation s gross domestic products (CMS (2016). This staggering number has grown
each year and clearly shows the impact that it can have on the economy. As the years have passed
by, so has the political landscape. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) was signed into law by President
Barack Obama on March 23, 2010 with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patient s diets have changed over the last 100 years and have created a large increase in chronic
illnesses and higher needs for medical care. This demand has created the need for a much greater
system of healthcare that includes hospitals, providers, and insurance companies. Over the years,
there have been a lot of changes to improve healthcare. With all of the spending and advancements
in health care, the United States is still very behind in health care costs compared to other
countries in the world. According to Stoltzfus Pollack (2016) the median household income in the
United States in 2014 was $53,657,10 so the average household with a median income would have
spent almost 46 percent of its income on health care were costs and income evenly distributed
across the population. These numbers are staggering in comparison to other countries and even
worse put the United States at the bottom of the list for healthy countries. These numbers have all
proven the overall impact that the U.S health care system has on the economy. In 2017, Current
President Donald Trump vowed to make a major change to the ACA that had been placed into law
seven years ago. During this period when Republicans tried to tally the votes needed to make
changes the U.S stock markets projected the uncertainty of the votes. These numbers represented by
the U.S economy projected just how big of an impact the health care system can have on the
economy.

Teaching A Strategic Plan For The Goals And Objectives
interpreters to make life easy and service provided. We should know which type of communication
is suitable to each service user. (Aldworth et al., p16, 2010).
Proper Planning. Accordingly, it is often proffered that failure to plan is synonymous with planning
to fail. Planning is very important in ensuring good planning. Through planning, managers can
evaluate the future and make arrangements that is plan for the attainment of the organisational
goals and objectives. Planning is regarded as the primary management function or first among
equals because it initiates and provides the framework for the other functions. It also avoids errors,
waste, or delays in executing organisational activities. It allows managers the ability to adjust their
organisations to the environment instead of merely reacting to it. Good planning is critical to the
success of any organisation. Developing a strategic plan takes discipline, foresight, and a lot of
honesty, regardless how well you prepare, you are bound to encounter challenges along the way.
(forbes.com.,2016).
Education and Training. In ensuring good planning without education and training, there will not be
good quality. It means acquiring knowledge and skills or new information on how to do things per
the recommended regulations and standards, (Steve, 2004). Training and education will help staff
know the new trends. The trip we had to NEC Birmingham was a revelation because a lot has

It has become part of our everyday lives whether it is out of the mundane habit of following the
daily news or from the communication between the people around you. What is seen or heard in
the media can be a conversation starter. The media has also changed drastically through time
expanding the original medium of printed papers and radio broadcasts to those we have today of
television and digital media, including social media such as, Facebook, twitter and blogs. There is
a vast variety of media to choose from not just in form but also in type, whether it is political,
celebrity, sport, international or local. Sometimes you do not know that you are even affected by
what is on the media. Mass media affects societies socially and politically by providing opinions
and outlooks on things, although the masses have the power to control the judgment that they
have over it. (Sturken and Cartwright, 2009) The media is very powerful in today s world where
it is conveniently accessible. Social media gives an invitation for the audiences to leave their

Essay on We Were Soldiers Once-- and Young
We Were Soldiers Once and Young
We Were Soldiers Once and Young is a history book written by LT. GEN. Harold G. Moore
(RET.) and Joseph L. Galloway. The history book is based on the Vietnam War, which took
place in 1965. The Battle of Ia Drang was said that it was the battle that changed the war in
Vietnam. The book is a tribute to all the soldiers in the war and for their great braveness, love,
and care for one another. It was a bloody war, but very inspiring to read about the courageous
soldiers who put their lives on the line for the United States of America. Lt. Col. Hal Moore, Maj.

soldiers who fought in the Vietnam War. Lt. Col. Hal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sometimes this is known as foreign policy. National policy was important to the soldiers
because they believed in the purpose of the war and they were willing to defend their countries
honor with their lives. The wartime lives of the soldiers who fought in the war were in a state of
mind of mixed feelings. Happiness and devastating are two adjectives that can describe the
soldier s feelings in the war because at one second they can be happy that they succeeded on a
mission, but on the other hand, it can be very devastating because one of their own soldiers
could have been killed during the war. Aside from physical danger losing one of your own
soldiers or having your family worry about you every day and night are some negatives and
unpleasant parts about fighting in a war. For example, soldiers loved ones worried each day, and
hoped that they would not get a knock on their door by someone who was going to tell them that
their fathers, husbands, sons, or brothers have died in the war. Before I opened this book, I
thought to myself that this was going to be a difficult and boring book to read. After the first
twenty pages of reading, I was hooked on the book and started to find out more information page
by page. It was interesting to me mostly because it was based upon facts that actually occurred
during the Vietnam War. The one part of the book that I enjoyed most was towards the end of the
book where they said how

Characteristics Of Bluefin Tuna
There are many interesting species of ocean fish. Possibly one of the most economically important,
diverse, and interesting species is the tuna. Different species in general have different physical
characteristics and appetite. However, across the different species, there are similar migration
patterns and fishing techniques. There are five primary kinds of tuna: Bluefin, Yellowfin, Long Tail,
Albacore, and Big Eye.
While some characteristics are similar among the different species of tuna, in general each species
is distinct. The Bluefin tuna, Thunnus thynnus, is the biggest of the species. They can reach
astonishing sizes and average ...up to 1500 pounds and...6 10 feet long. (World Wildlife Fund 1)
The Bluefin tuna are built like torpedoes. With traits like retractable fins and eyes that are set
flush to their body, they were made for speed. They have the longest life span, living up to forty
years. The next largest is the Big Eye tuna, Thunnus obesus. They are long and streamlined. They
have a distinct coloration to protect thenselves from predators. In order to avoid predators from
above, they have dark metallic blue on their backs and upper sides. Likewise, to avoid predators
from below, they are nearly white on their lower sides and belly. Their two sided coloration allows

36). Teaster and Blieszner (1999) say the term distance learning has been applied to many
instructional methods: however, its primary distinction is that the teacher and the learner are
separate in space and possibly time (p. 741). However, distance learning is not a new phenomenon.
The history of distance education could be traced back to the early 1700s in the form of
correspondence education, but technology based distance education might be best linked to the
introduction of audiovisual devices into the schools in the early 1900s. With the development of the
postal service in the 19th century, commercial correspondence colleges provided distance education
to students across the country. This trend continued well into the 20th century with the advent of
radio, television, and other media that allowed learning from distance. In the last decade, distance
education has changed significantly with the use of computer mediated learning, two way
interactive video, and a variety of other technologies. Colleges and universities are forging ahead to
provide learning at a distance, and many institutions are making substantial investments in new
technologies for teaching.

she gave the impression that she did. In the party where she was catering, she broke the crystal
not because she was careless, moreover, she was upset because of the guests in a table talking;
in her mind, she believed she was smarter and better than them. The other point I fail to notice,
was when she talked about her mom, the mom was someone who was very critical about black
actors. She believed black actors gave a bad impression of blacks because they were giving
condescending role, hence she said blacks don t belong in movies. However, she was a light
skin woman pretending to be a French maid, because her employer wanted that from her. She
was lying about everything, she believed. The essay reflects the problems with dreams. They
were in Hollywood because they liked the movies, the movies made them dream and by living
there, they were closer to their dreams, but when dreams chattered we have nothing, dreams are
the problem and the narrator finally sees that in the end, hence I missed this point when I wrote
my response. In the third essay, Under the Influence , I did identify the dad s drinking problems. I
was able to pin some of the main points, like

Stormbreaker Analysis
Have you ever had a time where you had to think fast and use what was around you to prevent
something bad from happening? When I was 13 my cousins were riding their bikes down a
steep hill with a jump at the end and a lake about 30 feet after that. The more I watched them the
more I wanted to ride my bike down the hill too, so I grabbed my bike and when they all went
inside to watch tv I snuck out and got ready to go down the hill. When I was finally ready to go
down I pushed off and pedalled as fast as I could, but when I jumped the ramp I realized that I did
not have brakes on my bike so I had to do something to try and stop before I got drenched. So I
swerved to the side and reached out for my grandma s hammock that was there and held on... Show

One example of how Alex is resourceful is when he was trapped in a giant aquarium with a
dangerous jellyfish inside. In order to survive he had to use what he had with him. According to
the story ВЁAlex held the tube against the metal corners at the front of the tank and did his best
to squeeze a long line of cream all the way down the length of the metalВЁ (Horowitz 162) This
shows Alex s resourcefulness because when it didn t look like he was going to survive because
he was close to drowning and getting stung by a poisonous jellyfish he escaped by using a
special cream he had to melt through the metal support beams on the tank which made the tank
break open. Another example of how Alex was resourceful is when he used the karate move that
he had learned when he was younger to take down an armed guard. One example from the text is
where it states ВЁAt that moment Alex struck. It was another classic karate blow this time
twisting his body around and driving his elbow into the side of the mans head just below the ear.
The guard didn t even cry outВЁ (Horowitz 140). This shows that Alex is resourceful because if
he wouldn t have knocked to guard out with his special move he most likely would have either
gotten shot by the guard or tortured for spying on the company to find out what they were doing
that they where trying to hide. Through Alex knocking out the guard and Alex breaking out of the
tank he manages to escape these two life or death

Impossibility Within The Fantasy Of The Book Alphabet Of...
Impossibility within the Fantasy realm in Alphabet of Thorn and the Year of Our War
As Farah Mendelsohn stated, the most obvious construction of fantasy in literature and art is the
presence of the impossible and the unexplainable. In my perspective, both McKillip and Swainston
brilliantly expand our perception of the impossible by introducing us to different elements of fantasy
such as time travel in Alphabet of Thorn and an alternate reality known as the Shift in The Year of
Our War. The fantasy genre encourages us to keep an open mind as we delve into other worlds;
simply put, fantasy shows the readers how to perceive the world differently. While both of these
novels clearly create a delineation of the impossible through an ... Show more content on

It s important to note that even though the audience is aware of the impossibility of giant, flesh
devouring insects, we are persuaded that this world of fantasy is indeed real. After analyzing
both novels, one of the most significant similarities between the two would be the author s
intentional system of rules placed in the story in order to explain how the world operated. In the
Year of Our War, after god left the Fourlands, the Empire created a circle of 50 immortals to fight
the war (93). Mortals and immortals coexisted peacefully because of the hierarchal power
system placed upon the Empire and the King; not to mention their common enemy of swarming
insects attacking all living beings. On the other hand, the Alphabet of Thorn provided a history
of the 12 Crowns of Raine and the individual roles associated with the floating school, Royal
Library etc. The authors, in their own writing style, have revealed to us what is possible and
considered the norm within their worlds. This makes it easier for us to differentiate the reality
from the impossible when those fantasy elements are introduced later on in the plotline. For
instance, in our mundane world, we perceive magic to be impossible, but it s very much real in
Raine. What deems to be impossible in one world becomes possible in another story.

CHAPTER FOUR: LOW POWER DESIGN
4.1 Introduction:
In earlier stages of VLSI circuit design the emphasis is on Area and Speed optimization giving
concerns to Packaging and Efficient designing. As the technology scales down according to
predictions of Moor s Law, it is advent that the CMOS dimensions have been scaled down
drastically. But due to increase in use of Portable Devices Such as Cellphones, Laptops, Personal
Health Monitoring systems, there has been a demand of higher battery life for Portable devices.
Whereas big data centers which contains large set of circuits consumes tremendous power and
dissipates large amount of heat which incurs huge cost to maintain. The solution for these problems
is to design circuits which consume low power which give rise to the concept of Low Power VLSI
designing.

Evolution Of A New Species Of Homo Essay
In 2003 archaeologists discovered the remains of a possible early human ancestor in Indonesia.
These remains were found in the Liang Bua cave on Flores Island, Indonesia, and so far this is
the only location where similar specimens have been found. It is estimated that H. floresiensis
lived between 74,000 and 17,000 years ago (Olszewski, 2016). If this is accurate, it would have
lived contemporarily with Homo erectus, Homo neanderthalensis, and most recently Homo
sapiens. Homo floresiensis had an unusually short body and small brain size for a Homo in the
Late Pleistocene. It displayed a Homo erectus cranial shape but not size, earlier Hominid like
limb proportions, and other primitive, advanced, and unique skeletal features. It was well suited
for life on a densely forested isolated island that would have had a limited food source thus
contributing to its small size (Lyras et al., 2008). There is much debate on whether these fossils
represent a new species of Homo, whether it is a late survivor of the Homo erectus migration out
of Africa, or even be classified within a group of hominids that migrated out of Africa pre Homo
erectus.
There are several unique identifying features of H. floresiensis that are crucial in how to classify
this collection of specimens. These remains represented an individual with small stature, standing at
about only 1 meter (3.5 ft.) tall (Olszewski, 2016). These estimates are based on the measurements

Analysis Of George Orwell s The Elephant
George Orwell began the essay with his perspective on British domination. He stated that it is
evil and alongside of that it is oppressive. He felt hatred and guilt toward himself and the
Burmese people. The people of Burma did not feel threatened because the narrator of the story
had killed the elephant. The Burmese people have lost their dignity and integrity while trying to
fight off the British imperialism. Orwell uses allegories to describe his experience of the British
imperialism and he had his own view of the matter of slaying the elephant. He successfully used
ethos, pathos, and logos by attracting the audience to read his story. He had to make a scene in the
story to make the people of Burmafeel the same emotion. The elephant was the one reason why it
makes this story emotional. He used logos to show that he can killthe elephant even if he does not
want to so that it does not make him look fool.
Logos is used to show logic and persuade an audience by reason. When the author talks about the
irony and the reality of imperialism, he compares himself to the figure of a sahib. The comparison
to the sahib is a term that was used to name aristocratic rulers. It is an important symbol of their
cultural image. British imperialism is a hostile environment and does not justify exploitation by
controlling the Burmese people. The story sets the tone of the author s story to be un comforting.
This story shows his flaws and how he taunts others, even his own people of Burma.

Case Analysis Of SWA Airlines
1. SWA s Competitive Strategies and Execution
Cost Leadership: Under low cost leadership strategy, SWA emphasize on low cost fares offer.
SWA has tried to price the same fares within a state a method to strengthen its position as low cost
leader in airline industries. This strategy can be achieved through simplifying their fare system by
less relying on artificial intelligence and eliminates unnecessary costs. Another step to keep the
fares low, SWA only provides snacks on flights instead of costly meals service. Not only that, SWA
eliminates unnecessary cost in various methods, such as reusing passengers boarding pass and
eliminating intermediaries costs (i.e. travel agents). Moreover, SWA is equipped with exceptionally
productive work force to support this strategy. For instance, the pilots and flight attendants even go
as far to help cleaning aircraft and checking in passengers at the gate.
Differentiation: SWA make a great distinction by delivering outstanding services to their customers.
To actualize this, SWA is extraordinarily selective for recruitment

twentieth century historical and social context. The processes of transformation that are evident

Claudius character demonstrates the theme of appearance or reality in Act One, through adopting
an act as though he is grieving the loss of his brother. This is demonstrated in the line, and that it
us befitted/to bear our hearts in grief, and our whole kingdom/ to be contracted in one brow of woe .
However, his tone of sorrow is really an appearance, as it was Claudius himself who murdered
Hamlet Senior. This is proven in Claudius soliloquy, the second climax to the play when he is
praying. O, my offence is rank; it smells to heaven...a brother s murder . His tone is filled with
guilt and it is here the value of truth is displayed. Elizabethan s would have seen Claudius deception
and value the truthfulness of this climactic soliloquy, in a social context that recognised sin and
believed in God s punishment and reward.
This is juxtaposed by Stoppard in R and G... through using the Player to proclaim that everyone is
acting. When Guildenstern asks the Player aren t you going to change into your costume? the
Player replies I never change out of it, sir . This concept symbolises how life is a continual

reality in general. This can be linked with Guildenstern s [Guil] speech in R and G ... about the

The Effects Of Music On Children s Music
ESSAY SUPER FINAL:
Music is important to children. Some of them want to listen to it alone trough headphones, others
are wishing to sing, hum, whistle, or chant it. Some want to play musical instruments solo or with
friends. Others enjoy dancing to it. Some wish to create new music .
Whether listening, singing, playing, moving, or creating music, musical experiences are prominent
in the lives of children.
All children are musical. In different forms and degrees, children possess the capacity to become
musical than may currently demonstrate. They listen, sing, dance, play and express themselves
musically with little or no previous training.
Children are capable of careful and attentive listening, so they are able to perceive and understand
the musical language, they can create and recreate. Because most children most children possess
the physical capability to hear sounds, they can be led to listening intelligently to the manner in
which these sounds are organized as a music.
Children can response to music through movement in controlled and expressive way. To follow of
the musical pulse is one of the initial milestones in movement development. This skill is directly
related to attentive listening.
Musical performance on an instrument is more sophisticated musical activity. All children who are
good listeners, and who have the interest and discipline to take daily time to build both physical
and musical skills, will make good players.

Good Vs. Evil In Rikki-Tavi
In Rikki Tikki Tavi, I think the primary theme is good versus evil. If we look at the story from a

The author was born in British India, eight years after the Indian Rebellion. As a child, he

it s bedtime children s story on the surface, but deeper within, a look into postcolonialism. Rikki

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association
The question of whether the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) should
separate public and private schools into their own divisions has been a topic of discussion for
years. As a product of 14 years of Catholic education, I was fortunate enough to be able to
participate in athletics during my high schoolcareer. Many of the teams that we played were public
schoolteams from small communities where athletics were almost more important than an
education. Unfortunately, I have witnessed firsthand the animosity that has surfaced between
public and private schools.
The PIAA is the governing body of high school sports in the state of Pennsylvania. The PIAA
was founded in 1913 and initially included only public schools as members. Parochial and private
schools were admitted to the PIAA in the late 1970 s. In 1997, the PA Charter School Act was
passed which allowed for the creation of charter schools. The emergence of charter schools,
particularly in the Philadelphia area, created even greater animosity between private and public
schools. The Philadelphia schools, many of which are charter schools, were not members of the
PIAA until 2003. Their athletic success at the state championship level has raised many concerns
from the public sector.
The primary problem that the PIAA faces today is the dominance of private schools winning the
majority of state titles in all sports. Public schools have geographic boundaries that determine the
school a student must

many isomerization reactions, such as the interconversion of cis 2 butene and trans 2 butene.
Let us first consider the forward reaction, A в†’ B. Reactant molecules (A) in the system with
enough energy to reach the energetic peak, the transition state(symbolized by the double dagger,

This minimum energy required is the activation energy. For the forward reaction, this is

Both heroes created environments where women could feel superior to men. The second trait that
both heroes possess is inspiration to the public. People look up to both Athena and Jacqueline for

horses. She also was Zeus s favorite child and was the only other god permitted to use his thunder

got her piolets license she began to do air races. she broke two national speed records in one year,
and broke the international open class speed record ( Jacqueline ). Both people inspired many to
achieve and peruse things they could never dream of. The final trait that both Athena and
Jacqueline acquire is courage. Throughout Athena s time she had to show that she was strong
enough, brave enough, and smart enough to hold up to the reputation of a goddess. She surpassed
these characteristic by a mile, becoming Zeus s favorite and completely earning his trust. She also

The Relationship Between Troilus And Criseyde
The relationship between Troilus and Criseyde in Geoffrey Chaucer s adaptation of their tragic
love story notably hinges on the perception of Troilus s manhod. The interpretation of Troilus as
a feminized male character, and the consequent view that he was not manly enough to keep
Criseyde as his lover, exemplifies the importance Chaucer places on gender roles in the poem.
Troilus s passive nature, as a result of his lovesickness, led to his failure to obey the normative
masculine patterns of behavior. His lack of action is ultimately the reason why his relationship
with Criseyde fails. While we know the tragic ending to their story is inevitable, Chaucer s Troilus
and Criseydepresents gender as a central cause for its ending. In the first portrait of Troilus, Chaucer
presents us with a manly young knight at ease with his respectable and authoritative position:
This Troilus, as he was wont to gide
His yonge knyghtes, lad hem up and down
In thilke large temple on every side,
Beholding ay the ladies of the town,
Now here, now there; for no devocioun
Hadde he to non, to reven hym his reste,
But gan to preise and lakken whom hym leste (I. 183 189)
Troilus is represented here as a strong leader. He guides the knights through the temple and gazes
at the ladies of the town as he pleases. He mocks the other knights who foolishly fall in love; Troilus
is above that type of behavior. After the God of Love shoots him with his arrow, Troilus becomes
smitten with Criseyde in one

Festinger s theory of cognitive dissonance, as well as many of the other related theories. We often
do not realize the psychological events that take place in our everyday lives. It is important to take
notice of theories, such as the balance theory, the congruency theory and the cognitive dissonance
theory so that one s self persuasion occurs knowingly. As psychologist and theoristgain a better
understanding of
Festinger s cognitive dissonance theory manipulation could occur more easily than it already does
in today s society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The action taken would create psychological consistency in one s mind. These theories are very
interesting and have been quite researched, but none more so than Leon Festinger s theory of
cognitive dissonance.
Leon Festinger s theory, unlike the others I have described, deal with quantitative aspects, as well
as qualitative. That s what is so different and revolutionary about Festinger s theory. Robert
Wicklund and Jack Brehm (1976), in their book Perspectives on Cognitive Dissonance, write, Most
notably, the original statement of dissonance theory included propositions about the resistance to
change of cognitions and about the proportion of cognitions that are dissonant, both of which
allowed powerful and innovative analyses of psychological situations (p.1). The term dissonance
refers to the relation between two elements. When two elements do not fit together they are
considered dissonant. Cognitive dissonance can be broken down into a number of elements. As
Brehm and Cohen (1962) write, A dissonant relationship exist between two cognitive elements
when a person possesses one which follows the obverse of another that he possesses. A person
experiences dissonance, that is, a motivational tension, when he (or she) has cognitions among
which there are one or more dissonant relationships

Addiction Caused by a Wounded Soul
Modern society has failed bring the burgeoning problems of addiction under control. The word
addiction was applied to drug use in the 20th century, but now it refers to a wider variety of non
drug hobbies, such as eating, gambling and sex. To treat the devastating flood of addiction
problems, it is important to understand that addiction is not just a physical problem but more of a
social and psychological problem. Dislocation caused by the free market society and the pressure
from family can lead to addiction.
To begin with, people who refuse to contribute to the free market society will become dislocated

Alexander and Shaler state that at the beginning of the 21st century, for rich and poor people
alike, jobs disappear on short notice, communities are weak and unstable, people routinely change
lovers, families, occupations, coworkers, technical skills, languages, nationalities, therapists,
spiritual beliefs, and ideologies as they navigate the shopping malls, real estate markets and
employment agencies. (4) A free market society is supposed to maximize people s wellbeing,
happiness and wealth, but the truth is people are forced to compete against each other and lose
their sense of belonging, meaning and identity, eventually turning into slaves in a money oriented
society. Whether rich or poor, people become disconnected from their cultural identity and fail to
fail to establish their intimate relationships with friends, communities an co workers. According to
Alexander and Shaler, this is when people cannot achieve a reasonable degree of psychosocial
integration (5) and become dislocated from the society. Dislocation cannot simply be eliminated
by food, shelter or the attainment of wealth. The poverty of spirit leads people to search for a
substitute lifestyle to fill the emptiness of fast moving life. As a result, people turn to substitute
lifestyles that can be dangerous and addictive. Bruce and Shaler argue that today s free market
ignore all previously understood limits and have gone too far to the extreme.

Essay about Security in dorm halls
Security in dorm halls on universities across the nation is a huge problem that each campus must
address, due to the amount of people living in such close quarters. Residence hall security should
be an important factor in the college decision making process. Today s college freshman arrives for
the first day of his/her college career hampered with personal property of substantial value. Most
students come to college equipped with an advanced computer systemand can be the target of
burglary. Many other itemsof value accompany the student. Sexual assaults are also a potential
problem. The possibility of theft and sexual assaults make residence hall and individual room
security a basic prevention strategy. To ensure a safe campus, it is... Show more content on

When students graduate from college, most will purchase their own home or rent an apartment.
They must learn NOW how to secure their belongings and protect themselves from intruders. How
many people do you know would let complete strangers walk right into their own homes, no
questions asked? Students need to learn to take pride in their possessions and dwellings while they
are in college to prevent future break ins once they graduate.
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is taking steps to ensure the safety of their students
that the would normally neglect. For instance, during spring break, campus police walked the
mostly empty halls of Hawthorn Hall and locked any door that was left unlocked. Also, security
guards and residence coordinators are trained to issue citations to any student who breaches
security. One student caught with a security infraction, Andrew Greer, was even made to write a
two paper on why it is imperitive to secure residence halls. With the addition of yet another paper,
this could be a very useful deterent that could be used on campuses across the nation.
Ultimately, residence hall security is up to the students who live there. Students must take
responsibility for their own possessions and own well being. Since college is a time for learning
and change, what better time to learn this

Art In An Art World
Art is not just a picture on a wall or in a museum, art comes in many forms. It can be a song you
just heard, a video you watched, or a painting you saw in a gallery. Art can also be just text but
no matter what all forms of art grasp you in different ways and make your thoughts evolve to
new distances. Art can bring you feelings you did not think you had. This is what an art world
truly is, a combination of all the work that was put into the art and how it impacted people s
lives. Art worlds consist of all the people whose activities are necessary to the production of the
characteristic works which that world, and perhaps others as well, define as art (Becker, p. 34).
Becker also says an art world is the network of people whose cooperative activity, organized via
their joint knowledge of conventional means of doing things, produce the kind of art works that
art world is noted for. An art world is very similar to an industry but the art business is so small
that the social factor isn t strong enough to consider it an industry. The people who create the
artwork will see the same people interested in the same artwork at the same art shows, galleries,
and other events year after year. In order to have an art world and artwork in it, we need the artists
to create art and an audience to critic and appreciate the art. Without an audience there would be no
variation in the types of art as the audience has a huge influence in what artists make. For instance,
without the reaction

It has been referred to as an invisible condition, as we can t see it occurring; all we see is the effects of it (Hearing Loss Association of America). The severity of the loss can range in the classifications of mild, moderate, severe, or profound. It can also occur in just one ear, or both. Hearing loss can occur at any age. People can be born with deafness (which is known as congenital hearing loss), or lose their hearing over a gradual period of time. Causes of why hearing loss occurs vary per person. The most common cause of loss is noise and aging. Buildup in the air, injury, ear infection, rupture eardrum are other causes as well. For children who suffer from hearing loss, most are born with it. • 3. Mein Kampf And The Formation Of Hitlers Ideas Essay Mein Kampf And The Formation Of Hitlers Ideas The dominant political figure of German history in the twentieth century, Adolf Hitler, was born in a lower middle class family in the provincial Austrian town of Braunau am Inn on 20 April 1889. In 1907 Hitler applied to enter the Vienna Academy of Art but his application was rejected. After the death of his mother Klara, Hitler decided to move to Vienna. He drifted from job to job, often selling sketches or painting scenes of Old Vienna and it was a period that he himself later called the most miserable period of his life. Many of Hitler s views of the world were shaped by his experiences on the streets of Vienna and it is probable that his violent anti Semitism dates from this time. ... In the nineteenth century the naturalist Charles Darwin had explained how in the world of nature when the environment changed some of the species with favourable variations survived better that others. Darwin called this natural selection . Social Darwinism was a concept that emerged later in the nineteenth century suggesting that what applied to nature could also apply to human society that the strong prevail over the weak, that superior races prevail over inferior races. This concept with its theme of struggle and survival of the fittest appealed to Hitler. Struggle wrote Hitler is the father of all things...He who wants to live must fight and who does not want to fight in this world where external struggle is the law of life has no right to exist *. In Mein Kamph Hitler offered some insight into his thinking on exercise of power and in particular the important role of propaganda, his contempt of parliamentary democracy and the Weimar Republic. Hitler also wrote of the need for a national revival and the quest for living space. Hitler linked his hatred of communism with his hatred of Jews. In Hitler s mind Russia was the centre ... This essay will be exploring and evaluating the advantages of the UK retaining an unwritten constitution, in comparison to the potentials of the UK drafting a written constitution and its capability of being flexible, alongside referencing made to John Alder and further academics. A significant feature of the British constitution, is arguably said to be flexible to a certain extend, in contrast to a rigid constitution such as the USA. His work reflected the cultural and societal environment around him in 1887; this suggests themes throughout Miss Julie, such as gender inequality and women s rights, were inflicted by his own struggle between classes and promiscuous relationships with women. It becomes apparent in the play that Miss Julie, a self portrait of Strindberg, typifies Strindberg s creative energy and the close relationship between his writing and lifestyle. Strindberg cleverly blurs the divisions of class and sex within Miss Julie , as in his patriarchal society, men had control of who is at the top, and who is at the bottom, hence the use of metaphors I m on top of a high pillar . Therefore, it is applicable that the battle of sexes and gender inequality are responsible for Miss Julie s inevitable fate. Because I m a man, I m young conveys Jean s desire to the audience, while the sinister language is used to suggest that Jean is allowed to play with fire empowering himself over Miss Julie. On top of this, Miss Julie is also presented as a dominant character, suggesting a sense of competition from the start She was training him . On the other hand, this clarifies the battle of the sexes, as the struggle for supremacy appears in Miss Julie s failed effort to dominate her fiancГ©. There have been records of trade between the Han Dynasty, the Persian and Roman empires. These trade accounts were all achieved using these methods or maritime routes. The imported goods from this route were mainly small ornaments. Later, these sea routes connected coastal cities. This helped make trade flow more smoothly. Some of the routes also went through the Strait of Malacca to the Indian Peninsula. Chinas wealthier class prospered from the beneficiaries of the luxury products given to them during the Han Dynasty. However, the usage of the maritime Silk Road was limited for various reasons. Out of the Han Dynasty, there was the establishment of a shipping lane between Guangdong and India. This helped spread the material culture of all the countries involved in the intricate routes of the Silk Road. The usage of a maritime Silk Road encouraged the spread of trade to a more vast area. This can be seen when the routes extended to the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. It touched the Arab Empire and the East African coast as well. The Maritime Silk Road had other names as well. According to the story ВЁAlex held the tube against the metal corners at the front of the tank and did his best to squeeze a long line of cream all the way down the length of the metalВЁ (Horowitz 162) This shows Alex s resourcefulness because when it didn t look like he was going to survive because he was close to drowning and getting stung by a poisonous jellyfish he escaped by using a special cream he had to melt through the metal support beams on the tank which made the tank break open. Another example of how Alex was resourceful is when he used the karate move that he had learned when he was younger to take down an armed guard. One example from the text is where it states ВЁAt that moment Alex struck. It was another classic karate blow this time twisting his body around and driving his elbow into the side of the mans head just below the ear. The guard didn t even cry outВЁ (Horowitz 140). This shows that Alex is resourceful because if he wouldn t have knocked to guard out with his special move he most likely would have either gotten shot by the guard or tortured for spying on the company to find out what they were doing that they where trying to hide. • 23. Impossibility Within The Fantasy Of The Book Alphabet Of... Impossibility within the Fantasy realm in Alphabet of Thorn and the Year of Our War As Farah Mendelsohn stated, the most obvious construction of fantasy in literature and art is the presence of the impossible and the unexplainable. In my perspective, both McKillip and Swainston brilliantly expand our perception of the impossible by introducing us to different elements of fantasy such as time travel in Alphabet of Thorn and an alternate reality known as the Shift in The Year of Our War. The fantasy genre encourages us to keep an open mind as we delve into other worlds; simply put, fantasy shows the readers how to perceive the world differently. While both of these novels clearly create a delineation of the impossible through an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s important to note that even though the audience is aware of the impossibility of giant, flesh devouring insects, we are persuaded that this world of fantasy is indeed real. After analyzing both novels, one of the most significant similarities between the two would be the author s intentional system of rules placed in the story in order to explain how the world operated. In the Year of Our War, after god left the Fourlands, the Empire created a circle of 50 immortals to fight the war (93). Mortals and immortals coexisted peacefully because of the hierarchal power system placed upon the Empire and the King; not to mention their common enemy of swarming insects attacking all living beings. On the other hand, the Alphabet of Thorn provided a history of the 12 Crowns of Raine and the individual roles associated with the floating school, Royal Library etc. The authors, in their own writing style, have revealed to us what is possible and considered the norm within their worlds. This makes it easier for us to differentiate the reality from the impossible when those fantasy elements are introduced later on in the plotline. For instance, in our mundane world, we perceive magic to be impossible, but it s very much real in Raine. What deems to be impossible in one world becomes possible in another story. These remains were found in the Liang Bua cave on Flores Island, Indonesia, and so far this is the only location where similar specimens have been found. It is estimated that H. floresiensis lived between 74,000 and 17,000 years ago (Olszewski, 2016). If this is accurate, it would have lived contemporarily with Homo erectus, Homo neanderthalensis, and most recently Homo sapiens. Homo floresiensis had an unusually short body and small brain size for a Homo in the Late Pleistocene. It displayed a Homo erectus cranial shape but not size, earlier Hominid like limb proportions, and other primitive, advanced, and unique skeletal features. It was well suited for life on a densely forested isolated island that would have had a limited food source thus contributing to its small size (Lyras et al., 2008). There is much debate on whether these fossils represent a new species of Homo, whether it is a late survivor of the Homo erectus migration out of Africa, or even be classified within a group of hominids that migrated out of Africa pre Homo erectus. There are several unique identifying features of H. floresiensis that are crucial in how to classify this collection of specimens. These remains represented an individual with small stature, standing at about only 1 meter (3.5 ft.) tall (Olszewski, 2016). • 29. Analysis Of George Orwell s The Elephant George Orwell began the essay with his perspective on British domination. He stated that it is evil and alongside of that it is oppressive. He felt hatred and guilt toward himself and the Burmese people. The people of Burma did not feel threatened because the narrator of the story had killed the elephant. The Burmese people have lost their dignity and integrity while trying to fight off the British imperialism. Orwell uses allegories to describe his experience of the British imperialism and he had his own view of the matter of slaying the elephant. He successfully used ethos, pathos, and logos by attracting the audience to read his story. He had to make a scene in the story to make the people of Burmafeel the same emotion. The elephant was the one reason why it makes this story emotional. He used logos to show that he can killthe elephant even if he does not want to so that it does not make him look fool. Logos is used to show logic and persuade an audience by reason. When the author talks about the irony and the reality of imperialism, he compares himself to the figure of a sahib. The comparison to the sahib is a term that was used to name aristocratic rulers. It is an important symbol of their cultural image. The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association The question of whether the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) should separate public and private schools into their own divisions has been a topic of discussion for years. As a product of 14 years of Catholic education, I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in athletics during my high schoolcareer. Many of the teams that we played were public schoolteams from small communities where athletics were almost more important than an education. Unfortunately, I have witnessed firsthand the animosity that has surfaced between public and private schools. The PIAA is the governing body of high school sports in the state of Pennsylvania. The PIAA was founded in 1913 and initially included only public schools as members. Parochial and private schools were admitted to the PIAA in the late 1970 s. In 1997, the PA Charter School Act was passed which allowed for the creation of charter schools. The emergence of charter schools, particularly in the Philadelphia area, created even greater animosity between private and public schools. The Philadelphia schools, many of which are charter schools, were not members of the PIAA until 2003. Their athletic success at the state championship level has raised many concerns from the public sector. The primary problem that the PIAA faces today is the dominance of private schools winning the majority of state titles in all sports. • 41. The Relationship Between Troilus And Criseyde The relationship between Troilus and Criseyde in Geoffrey Chaucer s adaptation of their tragic love story notably hinges on the perception of Troilus s manhod. The interpretation of Troilus as a feminized male character, and the consequent view that he was not manly enough to keep Criseyde as his lover, exemplifies the importance Chaucer places on gender roles in the poem. Troilus s passive nature, as a result of his lovesickness, led to his failure to obey the normative masculine patterns of behavior. His lack of action is ultimately the reason why his relationship with Criseyde fails. While we know the tragic ending to their story is inevitable, Chaucer s Troilus and Criseydepresents gender as a central cause for its ending. In the first portrait of Troilus, Chaucer presents us with a manly young knight at ease with his respectable and authoritative position: This Troilus, as he was wont to gide His yonge knyghtes, lad hem up and down In thilke large temple on every side, Beholding ay the ladies of the town, Now here, now there; for no devocioun Hadde he to non, to reven hym his reste, But gan to preise and lakken whom hym leste (I. 183 189) Troilus is represented here as a strong leader. The poverty of spirit leads people to search for a substitute lifestyle to fill the emptiness of fast moving life. As a result, people turn to substitute lifestyles that can be dangerous and addictive.
