South Italy Research Paper
Southern Italy Mezzogiorno also known as South Italy, is a land of contrasts; on the one hand,
it is the poorest part of Italy, and in the past much of the population subsisted on an almost
exclusively vegetarian diet, eating greens and bread or pasta. The South consisted of regions
and they are Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, and Calabria, Campania. Here, you will find
rich and spicy tomato sauces and the almost exclusive use of olive oil in cooking. Some of the
best olive oil comes from these regions, but very little of it is exported. The south is home to
citrus fruits, fields of durum wheat for pasta, olive groves and vineyards. The sea is used to its
fullest extent, with all manner of seafood enjoyed, from tuna to anchovies,... Show more content on

2.1 Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneur And Enterprise Skills.
2.1 Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneur and Enterprise Skills
Defining the very essence of entrepreneurship is part of a longstanding theoretical debate (Henry,
Hill Leitch, 2005, p. 99). Definitions are particularly important in the field because many of the
terms associated with the discipline, such as entrepreneurship, entrepreneur and enterprise, are often
used interchangeably. For the purpose of this review, the definition of entrepreneurship is
synonymous with Gibb (2007), who describes entrepreneurship as sets of behaviours, attributes and
skills that allow individuals and groups to create change and innovation, cope with and even enjoy
higher levels of uncertainty and complexity (Gibb, 2007, p. 1). Meanwhile, the term entrepreneur

2.2 Importance of Entrepreneurship Education
The importance of the role of EE and enterprise skills is highlighted in both European and global
development views (Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development (OECD), 2015).
While a strong emphasis on economic success and job creation has propelled EE at tertiary level,
there has not been an integrated approach in the secondary education sector (OECD, 2015).
However, development is underway, with international education institutions facing policy pressure
to explicitly embed EE in the curriculum (Mwasalwiba, 2012).
A crucial reason for teaching entrepreneurial skills to youth is to help prepare them for employment
and, in some cases, influence self employment and choosing entrepreneurship as a career path.
However, EE is not about simply creating entrepreneurs and businesses. It is about teaching students
enterprise skills, transferable to the real world. Taking part in incubator style programs teaches
students that failure is acceptable; they learn resilience which is key in the competitive 21st
Century employment landscape. This is reflected in the following textbook quote: Businesses fail,
but entrepreneurs do not. Failure is often the fire that tempers the steel of an entrepreneur s
learning and street savvy (Timmons, 1999, p. 47). Resilience, along with skills such as problem
solving and creativity, are highly desired by Australian employers, as demonstrated in recent

How The Color Green Has A Calming Effect
The color green has been said to have a calming effect, people have investigated the connections
between colors and the way they make people feel emotionally for years and have declared green to
be a psychologically soothing color.
His eyes are green.
Not quite green like the color you see when you look down early in the morning when the sun is
peaking over the skyline and the morning dew is still clinging desperately to the verdant blades.
When the droplets are glistening and you can see the faint glow of the day before. Art and nature
evoke such beautiful colors but this green wouldn t be found in the most beautiful of paintings or
diverse of gardens. Soothing doesn t match up with how you d describe it. His eyes are the color of

Often, I must remind myself that he did this because he never loved me (I learned not to take
this personally) as impossible as it sounds, but I grew to accept that he was never going to be
capable of love in the way every little girl needs her dad to be. I started to see it when I was still
understanding the concept of healthy love, the warning signs were always there, but I had not
been able to see through lies and truth yet. Oh, he was always such a good actor too. Yet I saw it
when I looked at his smile, his teeth reminded me of a brick wall, painted white, but over time
chipped and smudged and the color faded into a vague cringey cream. The damage to the wall
became more apparent the longer it got exposed to the natural deterrents of the world. Each

When he smiled I knew every single muscle he moved was strategically planned and each grin

English Language Learners For My Assessment
Profile
The intended English language learners for my assessment would be primary aged students who
are at the beginning level, according to WIDA. Primary aged students are students in kindergarten
through grade 2, and WIDA describes students as beginning if they (a) understand and speak
conversational and academic English with hesitancy and difficulty, (b) understand parts of lessons
and simple directions, and (c) are at a pre emergent or emergent level of reading and writing in
English, significantly below grade level. (http://ell.dpi.wi.gov/sites/default/files/imce/ell/pdf/elp
levels.pdf). Although my students would be young, they could be classified as significantly below
grade level if they cannot identify letters and perform poorly on the kindergarten screening and
running records. Most ELL students at this age are not literate in their native language, which may
make learning English literacy more difficult.
Rationale
The test I designed I could currently use with some of the students in my classes. I teach
kindergarten and first grade English Language Arts and Social Studies and we have a moderate
number of immigrant students whose parents do not speak English. Although we do not have an
ESL program, our bilingual program draws many native Spanish speaking students to our school
because their families want them to maintain their Spanish. We also have immigrant students from
other countries, such as Middle Eastern and African countries. This exam covers some of

The Dangers of Metabolife Essay
The Dangers of Metabolife
Obesity:
The term obese implies that one is very fat , extremely overweight, and often carries negative
connotations. However the scientific definition describes obese in a non judgmental way that
simply expresses ones weight as a number, a certain body mass index (BMI). Since the early 1980s,
BMI has been the medical standard for obtaining obesity measurements (http:/
/www.quantumhcp.com/obesity.htm). Government researchers and scientists developed the BMI
to take height into account in weight measurements. It is important to realize that one cannot
determine if one is obese based solely on ones weight. For example, if one weighs 145 pounds, is
he or she considered to be obese? The answer to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fact must be faced; obesity is increasing in numbers. However, it is interesting to note that as
the number of overweight individuals increases, so too does the various methods of reducing
caloric and fat intake. In today s busy society Americans are willing to try almost any weight loss
product on the market in order to reach their goal of thinness. Americans are turning to herbal
supplements in record numbers as a means of attaining their dietary needs and goals. One of the
best selling herbal supplements on the market is Metabolife 356Гў (http://www.metabolife.com
/news/100199.htm).
What is Metabolife?
Metabolife 356Гў is an herbal supplement whose purpose is to increase weight loss by burning fat
and increasing energy levels, (http://www.w8lossbiz.com/metabolife/index.html). Simply put,
Metabolife 356Гў raises the body s metabolism and creates a thermogenic (increase in metabolism
and fat burning) response. Metabolife 356Гў is one of America s best selling herbal supplements,
but where did it come from?
The Origins of Metabolife 356Гў
Michael J. Ellis developed the herbal supplement in the early 1990s as a means to help his father
counter the fatigue of cancer treatment. Ellis, a former California police officer has had no
medical experience; however, he was linked to a methamphetamine lab bust in 1990 (Cowley Reno,
1999). Methamphetamine is also known as meth and is an illegal street drug chemically related to
ephedrine. In 1992

Speculative Desires and an Unchanging Western Hostility
The article US Policy Toward Political Islam by Stephen Zunes is a thoroughly researched topic.
His depictions of a greedy, judgmental America are accurate and to the point. While there is a
good chunk of useful suggestions that may have created less hostility from our Eastern
counterparts, it is not logical or possible to say that following these sanctions out would have
changed the outcome of the last ten years. What can be said of these ideas, is that following a
more honest approach to politics through US policies would have given America a much needed
transparency. Many of the extremist groups are founded on the hatred of American downfalls such
as our tendency to overtake their lands by military force in order to exploit the lands... Show more

This has led to the extremist groups attack of American policies and ideals. While it was
necessary for our involvement in the first World War, it is not necessary now. The Palestinians
living in East Jerusalem are living in horrible conditions at the hands of their Israeli oppressors. In
this case, not taking a stand would at the very least strain our relationship with Israel, but improve
our relations with Islamic countries of the Middle East.
While there are a host of options laid out by Zunes in his article to directly affect our policies
abroad, we must consider teaching tolerance at home. Children should be required to attend
ethnicity/cultural sensitivity courses in elementary school. Colleges should require all freshman
to take a more advanced study of global cultures. These classes would expose the world s top
religions, compare them with our American values, and explain why different is not bad. If
schools took a more direct approach to prejudices and just plain wrong information, as nation, we
could create children devoid of ignorant opinions. Perhaps had this course been taken years ago,
Miss. Teen USA could have answered the question regarding why American children cannot read
maps. While it is impossible to create a completely aware and culturally sensitive generation, we
can eliminate a huge amount of misplaced ill will towards those who come from different cultures
and religions. It is possible to make the outcomes possibilities, but we will never

Comparing Rappaccini s Daughter And The Birthmark
The male gaze is a philosophical concept that implies that men use the eyes to communicate with
females in a manner that is both critical, or can be described as sensual in nature. This is the case
in Nathaniel Hawthorne s short stories, Rappaccini s Daughter and The birthmark. In The
Birthmark Aylmer s gazeof the birthmark is not only an obsession, but an erotic feature that leads
him to commit unethical practices to get rid of his wife s imperfection. Rappaccini s Daughter
makes Beatrice feel guilty for her sexual allure. In addition, both male characters feel the need to
dominate and control the women in their lives for feared of being overpowered by their sexuality.
The male characters regard the femalecharacter as a symbol of sin for simply being women. Both

inexperience and secluded Beatrice is who lack familiarity with modes and forms, that Giovanni

Knockin On Heaven s Door Meaning
Knockin On Heaven s Door One of Guns N Roses popular songs is Knockin On Heaven s Door,
but what many may not know is that this song was only a cover of the original song written by
Bob Dylan. Although the song is comprised of very few lyrics, it has a deep meaning for people.
The song was written by Bob Dylan in 1973 for the western film, Pat Garret and Billy The Kid. It
is written from the perspective of a dying sheriff (Songfacts). The song reached number 12 on
the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (Aloisio). After it hit the charts, the song s popularity grew.
Many famous artists have covered the song, but another that stands out is the cover sung by
Warren Zevon around 2003. While the original and the covers sung by Guns N Roses and
Warren Zevon are similar, the artists all bring their own emotion and meaning to the song. Bob
Dylan s version of Knockin On Heaven s Door is number 192 on Rolling Stone s 500 Greatest
Songs of All Time list (Rolling Stone). It starts off with a series of guitars to set the mood of the
song (Dylan). This is not an upbeat song, but a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

song for a western film, and Guns N Roses performed it for a tribute concert. Warren Zevon
seems to have had a more personal meaning of the song due to his battle with lung cancer as he
was recording the song for his album. Although Warren Zevon added a few things to his version
of the song, his and Bob Dylan s were still very similar. Both portrayed a darkness and sadness to
the song which I believe was the intention of the song when it was written by Bob Dylan. Guns
N Roses added a different touch with their unique voices, and rock feel to the music. The energy
of the song was more up beat, and less somber. The songs were a joy to listen to, but the one that I

Reason Why Us Copiers Manufactures Cartridges And Copiers
a)
The reason why US Copiers manufactures cartridges and copiers is because of the opportunity
cost. If they produce just cartidiges and no one bought them, they would have all this material with
no alternative use. It also costs money to store. Having no alterative would lead to waste when they
could have reused the material to make something else. It gives them variety. They would not be
dependent on others because they only produce one thing. Other companies do not specialize for
the same reason because of opportunity cost. If I grew just potatoes I would get sick of just
eating potatoes, and they would go to waste. I also would be dependent on others. If I grew carrots

The Incarnation Of Jesus The Christ
Christopher Davis
THE380 Christ Church
Integrative/ Research Essay 2
March 17, 2015
Interpretation: The Incarnation of Jesus the Christ Over 2,000 years there has been endless
debates pertaining to Jesus the Christ. The main issue is how a man can be truly divine and fully
human? It seems paradoxical because of the combination of two separate natures, but it is a unique
act of forgiveness by God. There are in fact clues to show how and, why Jesus is in fact fully divine
along with fully human. There are links that trace Jesus historically. Due to these historic biblical
resources, it makes understanding the divine subdivision of Jesus hard to understand. How does
one come to terms with the fully divine side of Jesus? Is it only mythicized biblical texts or devout
faith in the biblical tradition?
There is no definite way to prove history because there is no way to go back in time. But there
are clues within biblical text to show the humanity of Jesus. The first trace of evidence to show
that Jesus was fully human is displayed in the Gospel of John. The word became flesh (John 1:14).
This is evidence to show that Jesus took on the logos; which brings God s word, and will into
humanity directly. Indication shows that Jesus exhibited human traits such as emotion. Jesus
offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears (Hebrews 5:7) Jesus was fleshly, and
maintained human qualities that were hard to deny. More evidence that proved the incarnation of

does with other people. The Op stood his ground and would not abide by his request, especially
since completing the job is so intertwined with his code of honor and conduct as a detective. In
addition, I found it amazing how he was able to talk to Elihu, someone described to be

Vertebrates Are Chordates, From The Subphylum Vertebrata
Vertebrates are chordates, from the subphylum Vertebrata, are continually evolving. Sometimes
evolution and adaptation are easily confused with each other. Evolution is changes in traits of a
whole population. Overtime populations, not individual organisms, evolve. Survival is important to
all vertebrates and adaptation helps vertebrates survive. Adaptation is a structural difference to
make it better for a species to live in and to improve the species survival and reproductive rates.
Adaptation essentially has three meanings. The first meaning of adaptation has to do with animals
physiologically, which means that vertebrates adjust to its environment immediately (Gittleman,
2010). The second meaning of adaptation focuses on the progression on how vertebratebecomes
adapted (Gittleman, 2010). The third meaning of adaptation focuses on how vertebrates evolved via
natural selection over time (Gittleman, 2010).
Over time, vertebrates have evolved and adapted to the environment for different reasons, such as
predator defense, food security, and to respond to changes in deal with temperatures, just to name
a few. Although adaptations are present in all animals there are a few differences between larger
and smaller vertebrates. Migration and hibernation are a few of the different types of behavioral
adaptations to help make it easier for them to survive.
Vertebrates have also had time to make adaptions to their body to also help them with predator and
prey relations and how to

Pacemaker In Canada
There are a number of distinguished Canadian inventions through out the years. Notably, the most
significant invention in Canadian history was the creation, of the innovative artificial cardiac
pacemaker. John Hopps, who is more prominently known as the father of biomedical engineering ,
was the prodigy behind this invention. He collaborated with two other doctors, Wilfred Bigelow
and John Callaghan at the Banting Institute Toronto to introduce the first external pacemaker in
1950.
The initial model of the pacemaker monitored as well as controlled the patient s heartbeat. A
pacemaker consists of electrodes, battery and a computerized generator. The main purpose of the
pacemaker is to stabilize your heart rhythm. If there s a change in the rhythm of your heartbeat and
it is inconsistent with the normal values then the computerized generator receives a stimulus, which
in turn produces electrical signals. These electrical signals are further transmitted to the heart
through electrical wires whereby they help maintain a normal heart rhythm. ... Show more content

Symptoms And Treatment Of Hypochondriasis Disorder
Hypochondriasis Disorder
Hunter Boumans
Central Louisiana Technical Community College
DEFINITION
Also referred to as Illness anxiety disorder (IAD) , these patients are convinced they have a certain
disorder or disease despite not having any symptoms or possibly having mild symptoms. They may
worsen their symptoms on purpose or fabricate symptoms to exaggerate to the physician that they
have the diseases (different from malingering because with this, they believe they have the disease).
These patients are genuinely worried for their health and when medical exams reveal that there is
nothing wrong with them, severe anxiety may consume them to the point that they develop an
actual illness.
POSSIBLE CAUSE

The Classical Cultures Of China Vs. China
India vs China The classical civilizations of China and India were two of the most important and
extant civilizations with major political development. The advanced technology like the ox drawn
plows, paper, silk roads, etc shaped China s development. India was manifested by artistry, trade,
and exceptional advances in mathematics. There were three main dynasties in classical China
known as the Zhou, Qin, and Han Dynastywhile India was founded by three empires: the Mauryan,
Kushan, and Gupta empires. Even though these civilizations evolved around the same time, there
are crucial differences and similarities. Religion, beliefs, hierarchical and patriarchal systems, and
government reveal the distinction between the two civilizations. Confucianismand Daoism were the
major belief systems in classical China that shaped their society. These belief systems were not
exactly religions;they were created to teach individuals how to live life. Confucianism was
introduced by Confucius, also known as Kung Fuzi, around 570 BCE. It focused on reverence for
elders, self humility, and respect for rulers and the people being ruled. During the reign of Wu
Ti, he emphasized values of Confucian philosophy and recorded the Confucian doctrine in a book
called The Analects. The problems Confucius set out to rectify, notably political disorder, were
approached through an emphasis on individual virtuous behavior (World Civilizations The Global
Experience). When the Han Dynasty was first founded, it was heavily influenced by Shi Huangdi,
a brutal and strict leader of the Qin Dynasty who ruled people under many rules and regulations.
Confucius wanted to terminate that method of ruling and knock some sense into people on how to
live life without brutality. Instead of living under hundreds of regulations/laws, Confucius
developed a sense of shame that changed the society as a whole. People began to understand
morals and values which formulated peace and prosperity. As a result, the Mandate of Heaven was
passed which stated that the ruler is blessed by Gods and once the ruler becomes too corrupt, the
dynasty would collapse. Contrary to Confucianism, legalism indicated that only rules and
regulations would create order in a

Gullivers Travels Comparison Between Book and Movie Essay
Gullivers Travels Comparison Between Book and Movie It is common in today s media driven
society to reach into the past for inspiration and ideas. A trend has developed where original
works are transformed into other mediums. For example: books are turned into movies and/or
plays, movies are turned into weekly sitcoms, and cartoons will spawn empires (Disney). These
things happen so often that an audience rarely stops to question the level of authenticity that
remains after these conversions. Perhaps it is only when a project is not well received that people

However, this appears nowhere in the original text. The viewer must ask him/herself why this
was added and the consequences of the change. The movie version of this story portrays
Gulliver as a travel that has been gone for eight consecutive years and had been searching for his
way home the entire time. He merely falls into unfortunate circumstances that prevent this return.
In the book, however, it is less clear that Gulliver desires to be home at all. He very rarely speaks
of his family and seems to have little emotion at being reunited with them after each journey or
when he leaves them again. The movie s alternate portrayal of Gulliver seems incongruent with the
added scene. Instead, this extra scene would appear to make more sense if the character of Gulliver
was depicted as he was in the book.

Explain How Is Dubai A Capitalist Model
Is Dubai a capitalist model in the Middle East? Even that Dubai has its own challenges to deal
with, but it dazzled the world s attention in the last few years from its remarkable success story.
Dubai is a city that considered as one of the fastest growing country in the world. It has gone from
strength to strength. In every year Dubaiis developing by working hard on its self and its goals.
Dubai is a capitalist model because of its hard work at building its road infrastructure, having more
entertainment places, and making a comfortable environment for the people from different cultures.
One of the main reasons that makes Dubai a capitalist model is that the way they have built and
organized their roads. Dubai s streets have a reputation for their width and infrastructure. The Dubai
roads instructor helped the people to move around easily. Davidson, (2008) Said that the annual
budget of Dubai Municipality s exceeds Dh1.28 billion (US$350 million), with almost 90 % billed
to infrastructure development. In other words, Dubai Municipality s budget spends approximately
billions on the infrastructure every year. To illustrate, Dubai has built and constructed amazing
roads that would get you to your destination comfortably and most importantly, that it could take

The Importance Of Religion In Islam
Until what point can faith and beliefs dictate what is right or wrong? Practicing a religion can
provide emotional well being, happiness and guiding; however, in some cases religion can have a
negative effect in a society because it can be used to justify violence or social inequalities. One of
the most controversial religion is the Islambecause it has many interpretations that can lead to
power abuse and manipulation for personal interests. Moreover, Saudi Arabiais considered the
birthplace of Islam, where Muslims practice what is known as Wahhabi Islam, which is also highly
controversial and criticized by western cultures because of its extreme regime and promotion of
violence. The kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the most conservative Muslim country in the world, and it
is mired in 13th century ideals. (video) Now, the kingdom is going through a transition state, which
has trapped the country in a conflict between cultural development and religion ancestral traditions,
which has specially affect women in many aspects.
In Saudi Arabia the monarchy uses the Quran as the constitution and seeks guidance from religious
clerics when passing new laws, (video) which has driven the country to cope with a growing
struggle between the monarchs and the religious clerics. Gender segregation is demanded by the
Islamic laws in Saudi Arabia, and the country has a system of women full exclusion. Therefore, all

Negative Effects Of Sexism
Eradication of Sexism
Sexism is another social problem troubling human societies all over the world. Though the roots of
sexism are a lot less broad when compared to racism (when taking into account there are only two
flexible, recognizable human sexes), there is still a large amount of conflict surrounding the social
problems between men and women. If one might not know sexism (or gender discrimination) is
prejudice or discrimination based on a person s sex or gender. Sexism is something that can be
affected by anyone. It has been effective mostly in history as well as the present, which has
predominantly targeted many women and girls. As many people believed in Laurel Ulrich s
quote Well behaved women seldom make history meant women who behave themselves as
women should, rarely make history. This quote is accurate because each woman who made
history had to portray themselves in a terrible manner or behave badly at some point in time to
get there point across or make themselves significant . The eradication of sexism needs to be
enforced because sexism creates disadvantages towards women in the world, substantially in the
workplace. Sexism allows the development of negative emotions in young girls and women, and it
impacts the self perception of men. I would like to change the issue of sexism towards women in
our society. This conflict troubles societies around the country in several ways, and taking several
forms. Sexism is a recurring problem in our country that has

Creating A Planner
Whether it s through memory loss, aging or sheer forgetfulness, it can be hard to remember your
life s To Do list. Life can be so stressful at times that you might want to forget what you need to
do. However, if you create a planner, you ll simultaneously free your mind to focus on task
completion instead. To create a planner you ll actually use, consider these three tactics.
1. Take a look at your goals.
Write down all the things you d like to accomplish this year. Whether the goal involves losing
weight, saving money or going on a vacation, write it down. In order to succeed with a goal, you
ve got to break it down into bite size chunks. When you break the big goal down and create a plan,
you re more likely to accomplish it. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you have a family, they probably have their own schedules as well. It s not fun when you
realized you ve forgotten something important to attend or do. When you keep a planner, you ll
have a better chance of remembering important dates and tasks. Look at your planner as your
personal assistant. Just before you head to bed each night, pull out the planner and take a look at
what you have scheduled for the following day. If there are any additions, you ll want to write
them down at this time. This one habit can really help you center your mind and mentally prepare
yourself for what the day has to offer. A planner also takes the guesswork out of the equation. By
maintaining a planner, you ll know what s next.
3. Use visual cues.
If you love colorful stickers or brightly colored pens, use them in your planner. Visual stimulation
can really motivate you to look and see what s going on in your planner. If you love motivational
quotes, try to find a planner that has a few already etched in. It s all about incorporating the things
you love so you can accomplish the things you ve set out to do.
Overall, having a system to keep you organized is always beneficial in more ways than one. A
planner is merely the best tool to keep everything in one place. After using this tool for a few

Comparing God And God In Greek Mythology
I had taken a particular liking to Greek mythology when I read a certain book series. I knew very
well about god at the time so despite me liking Greek mythology, actually believing it never
crossed my mind. I will explain the overall difference between Gods sovereignty and that of Greek
fatalism.
If you so happen to be a Christian that knows about Greek mythology, then one thing stands out the
most; there is only one god in Christianity besides there are several gods in Greek mythology.
Zeus (the highest and most powerful god) created all gods in Greek mythology, as in our god
that has been here since the beginning of time. Zeus is not a loving god. Zeus is more of a
figure that plays with puppets in this huge play room, he s more of an image of power and
greatness that wished to be worshiped at all times. Our God is a loving God that created
everything and controls everything. He has an image of power and love though has a personal
relationship with his followers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He can produce lightning bolts and alter the weather. Unlike God, Zeus has weaknesses which
basically means he could be defeated. Zeus s two brothers Poseidon and Hades are also the most
powerful gods among most other gods. All of these gods can sometimes have children called
demigods which is a being that is half God half Man. God only has one child, Jesus. Since Zeus
could be defeated, he is not as almighty and powerful as God. God granted us the ability of free
will while as Zeus and all other Gods can manipulate, control and destroy its people at will. When
you die you would go the three realms, with God there is only heaven or

Afternoons by Philip Larkin Essays
Afternoons by Philip Larkin.
A poem which reflects on the subject of marriage is Afternoons by
Philip Larkin. The poem deals with Larkin s view on young mothers watching their kids playing in
a playground and on this he concludes that marrying young and having children young, lead to the
mothers losing their identity and destiny. The techniques used by the poet such as theme, imagery
and tone deepened my understanding of the issue. The structure of the poem is simple; there are
three stanzas with eight lines in each. However, unlike every other poem by Larkin this layout has
no direct meaning. The lines are unrhymed. The first stanza deals with Larkin s rather cynical view
of marriage and deals with the idea that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using the idea of wind in the poem, Larkin is able to add his own personal views. The wind
acts as an idea of change. This is continued moreover in the third stanza via the use of enjambement.
This enables
Larkin to carry on and develop his point.
Larkin s use of imagery is very effective. The courting places which were once used by the young
mothers are changing but so are their children. The courting places are still being used, however,
the people of whom should be using them now have the burden of children and can no longer have
the fun this place entails. The unripe acorns as described by Larkin, are the children who are still
in school .
This implies Larkin, as an outsider observing and looking in, believes that as generations pass
romance is lost further and that people have children far to young. The children within the school
are not mature enough to realise what courting means. A grim humour is assumed when the reader
realises these children still have a future wereas the young mothers do not.The tone of the poem has
become increasingly more cynical. Larkin refers to how regimented the mothers lives are again
when they are expected to pick up their children from school. The women have changed immensely
with the pressures and responsibilities that the child has brought, they are putting on weight and
losing their looks, probably due to having the children. Their beauty has thickened .

13.XYZ Affair
President John Adams had sent several delegates, one of them being John Martial, to France to help
sort out the issues between France and the US, such as the United States not honoring the Franco
American Treaty, formed back during the American Revolution, when France had its revolution, by
meeting with minister Talleyrand of France. Three of Talleyrand s men met with the delegates and
told them Talleyrand refused to meet unless a large amount of money was payed. The delegates
returned home and informed President Adams, who was outraged. The name of the Affair comes
from the substituting of the three French men s names with X, Y, and Z in a Congress report.
This event was significant to the United States during this time because, instead of helping our
relations with France, like the US had hoped for after they accused us of allying with the British
when Jay s Treaty was formed, it only made things worse. The United States was enraged by
France s outrageous demands, and France was still angered by lack of promised US support during
the French Revolution.

What Is The Rising Tide Of Nationalism In Trade
Responding to the Rising Tide of Nationalism in Trade: Evolving the Nation s Role to Make Trade
Great Again
21119851
University of Western Australia
IINTRODUCTION
A resurgence of rising nationalism in recent years has prompted a slew of trade protectionist
policies defending against the perceived threat to national sovereignty by trade globalisation. Recent
trends in trade demonstrate a shifting reliance towards bilateral agreements and regional trading
while shrinking away from multilateral participation. This implementation of nationalist trade
protectionism has in solitude served to corrode the openness, trade, and global growth which vitally
fuel the national interests which these ideologies seek to defend. While ... Show more content on

As a matter of practice, nationalism frequently entails the implementation of policy which seeks to
reclaim national resources from foreign groups, and redistribute those resources to the nation s
citizens or government. This may be achieved through trade protectionism practices: where
governments intentionally safeguard domestic industry from foreign competition, usually through
policy regulation including tariffs or import quotas. By contrast, globalisation prioritises the
exchange of goods and services, the interaction of people, and the sharing of information and
technology across nations as enabled through domestic policy and international agreement. The
prosperity of any nation is therefore intertwined with the prosperity of others, creating an
environment of the shared pursuit of national interest, which fosters the sharing of success between
nations through communal global growth.
BModern Resurgence of Nationalism
The WTO has warned that the recent global increase in nationalism may threaten the global
economy more than any time in recent history, stating that as long as global economic weakness
persists, protectionist pressure will build and could eventually become overwhelming . As
economic stagnation continues, both dominant and emerging economies are now implementing
policy designed to safeguard against the employment losses, high ratio of capital outflow, and
foreign exploitation which threaten to undermine their national economic interests.

Apocalypse Now Analysis
In Francis Ford Coppola s critically acclaimed movie Apocalypse Now he portrayed a journey of
five soldiers into psychological madness down the harsh Vietnamese jungle river, and through
these four specific scenes in cinematic order of the boat s landings, Francis used this screenplay
to boast utter psychological madness of the human mind. The first scene that deconstructs the
stages of madness is the beach landing scene where the crew launches their patrol boat and
destroys a village alongside Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore. Throughout this montage of scenes,
also the longest shot segment in the movie, shows the men descending into the first stage of
evil, which is the love of war; dehumanization of the enemy . Throughout these scenes at Charlie
Beach , we really see an unfair fight led by Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore. Kilgore has installed a
philosophy upon his men to disregard the military and fight this war as a game. In the first
opening shots of the battle scene, Francis uses a beautifully done shot of the Helicopters
descending Into the village in preparation for an assault. From this scene, we see how unfair the
fight is. Right before the guns fire, we get two shots. The first shot is the raging helicopters that
look like cowboys on horses or Calvary. The second shot is the peaceful and quiet Vietnamese
villages. With these two shots, it demonstrates how the platoon sees war as playing cowboys and
Indians. In many of the background shots of the village siege, we

Lottery by Shirley Jackson portrays a story about a small town American community who takes part
in an annual lottery in which the winner gets stoned to death by her family and friends. In both

The Theme Of Companionship In Of Mice And Men
How does the author, John Steinbeck, suggest the death of companionship and inevitability of
loneliness, in the novella Of mice and Men? In the novella Of mice and men there is a consistent

Kino And Juana Alternate Ending
Kino and Juana headed towards the forest as the soundless night grew and they knew that some
evil person would follow and eventually kill them. Coyotito was still sound asleep and Juana
hung him around her hip as she walked with Kino. Suddenly, Kino came to a stop and warned
Juana that he heard footsteps and he knew that someone was following them. They heard the
click of the carbine and figured that they had to hide before the devil fired. They ran until they
were sure that no one was there but they didn t know that everyone wanted the pearl and they
would do anything for it. That night, as Kino and Juana found a place to stay, they were followed
by several strangers, some avarice people who belonged from La Pazand other indigent people who
heard about the pearl. Juana who was now really tired wanted her family to be warm so she went
outside the cave to gather wood. Before she left, Kino warned her to be judicious... Show more

With all the anger, he ignored Coyotito, but he tried his best for his baby to realized that his
mother was still there. Kino traveled really fast without stopping until he came to the end of a
steep cliff. He decided to take a break and look at the beautiful scenery of the estuary of two river
that were miles away from their brush houses. He remembered how Juana would always walk to
the river to get fresh water for her family and she would never complain about the hard work she
did to keep the family running. He felt so guilty for letting Juana go into the dangerous world
alone, where everyone hated them. Kino thought about the time when he hurt Juana when she tried
to throw the pearl in the water. Eventually, Kino began to see how the pearl had precipitated to all
the greed he had for getting the money. He tried to forget all the dreams he had for the future but
now his only goal was to get Juana

Being A Clarinet Essay
To start off my coat of arms I drew a clarinet in the middle. This clarinet represents something that
I want to get better at in the next year. Recently I have started playing clarinet so that I could join
Marching Band and Wind Ensemble. I believe that if I keep practicing every day and make a goal
for a year from now to be at 2nd clarinet level, I can succeed. My motto is work hard a stay strong,
so practicing and believing in myself will help me to be an expert next year. I used the colors red,
blue, and green. Green symbolizes balance and growth which I need to complete my goal. Red
symbolizes passion and ambition which I believe are two important qualities needed when
wanting to get better at something. Blue symbolizes trust and peace. If I stay calm and trust
myself I will be able to accomplish many goals, not just learning clarinet. Next, in the top right
corner, I drew me saying polite phrases that I use every day. This is the one thing I have learned
from somebody else. When I was young, my parents taught me how to be polite and use
manners. This skill that I learned from my parents has helped me so much in my lifetime
especially when being a guest or speaking to an adult. My motto, work hard and stay strong,
applies to this because you can do both those things well with manners, especially if you need
help, and can use manners to ask for help. I used the colors orange, yellow, and blue. Blue
symbolizes integrity which I possess with the ability to use manners.

Metropolitan Museum Of Modern Art Analysis
The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art trip was amazing, I have the pleasure of seeing
numerous art work that I have heard about. But going there give me a real taste of the struggle as
well as the accomplishment of these artists like Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Vincent Van Gogh,
Henri Rousseau, Fernand Leger and so much more. These paintings were the expression of the free
liberty of their imagination where the artist did feel have the freedom to portrait anything that he
was please to. But the two ones that attract my attention were from the same artist Vincent Van
Gogh; these paintingwere really different from what you could have actually seeing from the
reality. The starry night painting portrait the raise of the sun on a sleeping village,

Publication And Dissemination Biases In Survey Research
Chapter 6 of Advertising and Society an Introduction presents both an argument and
counterargument for alcohol advertising. One argument in favor of alcohol advertising is titled
Publication and Dissemination Biases in Survey Research. Often, results from these studies are
skewed for drinking onset and behavior. Sometimes investigators even distort the results of a paper
s conclusion or abstract. In an examination of 15 studies about adolescent drinking and advertising,
all of them presented distorted views. An example was a nationwide survey by Fleming and
colleagues which found that exposures to liquor ads on billboards and in magazines are unrelated to
alcohol expectancies, youths intentions to drink, and alcohol use by young adults (Blackwell 93).
Additionally, beer advertisements have been found to have a negative association with alcohol
expectancies. Exposure to alcohol... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

application of learned intermediary into 3 sections.
1.Defining Learned Intermediary and what it means to the case in South Dakota Law.
2.How this applies to the deceit claim
3.How this applies to the failure to warn claim
Learned Intermediary doctrine places the responsibility on the manufacturer to clearly warn
physicians of the risks of their product. In this case, it was clear that the company had neglected to

2002); see also Arnoldy v. Mahoney, 791 N.W.2d 645, 660 (S.D. 2010).
The court decided that based on the facts laid out by the prosecution, there was more than sufficient

The testimony of Owens stating she was aware of the risks that the plaintiff experienced and that
this was not included in the warning labels of the product.
Another Ethicon medical director s testimony, Hinoul, stating the brochure did not include

The consistent neglect of Ethicon that resulted in the delay of printing of the warnings on labels
despite them receiving the information before the product s launch, all because they did not want
to delay the product launch. The delay in adding these warnings which was supposed to be added

Financial Planning Career
For my occupation I chose Financial Planning. I chose financial planning because I like helping
other people and balancing their life. Being a financial planner would also help me balance my life
and have everything in order. A financial plan is a full evaluation of a person s current and future
finances in a given time, and taking this information to plan the future.
Financial planning started in the 1960s, after the World War 2. When World War 2 ended people
started creating careers to help Americans that were struggling succes. On December 12th of 1969
13 men gathered and created this profession. It started getting bigger and bigger over the years, they
started creating new things like the Institute of Certified Financial Planners and many other creative
things.
There were many earlier pioneers in the field of financial planning. One of the first and most
important was Donald Pitti. His role was significant because he worked successfully for the
financial planning association. Long after his role was changed, he would still be admired for his
countless efforts towards this profession.

The World Is Absurd And The Human Existence Of The United...
Jean Paul Sartre was an existentialist born in France in the early 1900s. He was a philosopher,
novelist, and teacher who was heavily influenced by the acts of World War II. Some of his major
philosophical works included Being and Nothingness and Consciousness. His works revolved
around the human existence in the world. Some of his ideas could have a significant impact on
educationin the United States, but most are not relevant in today s society because of the very
nature of public education in the United States. One of Sartre s major ideas is that the world is
absurd and the human is a lonely individual in this world. He believed that our existence had no
meaning. Because there is no meaning attached to human existence, it is up to the human to create
meaning. Therefore, there is nothing to stand in the way of a person making whatever they want
out of their life and becoming anything they want. One of the foundations of the United States of
America is that it is the Land of Opportunity, implying that a person can come to the United
States and make a life for him or herself. So a modern United States education should be based on
this idea and provide the platform for a student to become what they want. The reality is we teach
the majority of students the same, in essence taking away that individuality that needs to be
allowed for a person to become what they want. In the modern classroom, things should look very
different from what we are used to. In such a

The Poverty Of The United States
Poverty can be defined as a condition that people suffer from due to lack of economic resources.
For being such a prosperous country, the United States possesses a persistent problem. The
problem is the poverty rate in America and how it has become a force that continuously grows.
One fact that American citizens are not aware of or do not wish to implement in their minds is that
nearly 50 million people in the United States live in poverty. Amongst the 50 million people in the
United States that live below the poverty line, over 5 million more were women than man. This
phenomenon as to in which women experience poverty at far higher rates than men is described as
feminization of poverty, a term coined by Diana Pearce in 1978 (3: Thibos).... Show more content

One of his main arguments was that federal welfare became so generous that it led to women
preferring unwed motherhood and indolence over getting married and obtaining jobs (315: Edin
and Lein). An associate professor of sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, Kathryn Edin,
teamed up with Laura Lein, a senior lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin, in order to
express whether the benefits of living off the welfare program in the United States actually
enabled single mothers to make ends meet. Edin and Lein conducted a study by interviewing
379 single mothers in Boston, Charleston, Chicago, and San Antonio and displayed their studies
in Making Ends Meet: How Single Mothers Survive on a Welfare Check . Amongst these single
mothers, 214 were welfare reliant mothers and they were the people that Edin and Lein focused
on in order to test the assumption of whether the welfare system was being abused or not. All
214 of these women and their 464 children relied on the Aid to Families with Dependent Children
(AFDC), the government income transfer program for poor families that consisted of non elders.
On average these single mothers spent $213 a month on housing, $262 on food, $336 on other
necessary expenses, and $64 on items that were not necessarily essential. This summed up to be a

German Art Observation Paper
I visited Los Angeles County Museum of Art for the exhibition named Form in Fragments:
Abstraction in German Art, 1906 1925 which highlighted in abstraction in German Expressionism.
The exhibition was composed of over 60 works including works by Wassily Kandinsky, Franz
Marc, Lyonel Feininger, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Erich Heckel, Otto Dix, and an abstract
film by Hans Richter. Among the many works on view, one of the Paul Klee s prints titled
Hoffmannesque Scene caught my eye.
Hoffmannesque Scene is a lithograph printed in black and colored inks on a wove paper that was
created in 1921 in Germany. The title of the print tells you that it recounts a particular scene that
was inspired by something. This abstract print depicts the freeform shapes of objects including
human and animal with shaded blocks. The depiction of the scene resembles cave and ... Show more

The print is presented with antique brass, pastel brown, pale gold, wheat, and pale chestnut. These
undertones of colors that are softened or moderated create a feeling of gloom and calm at the same
time. In addition, Klee used the technique of color blocking by overlapping squares. There is no
particular color that dominates the entire image or completely catches a viewer s attention.
However, Klee emphasized on harmonization of colors by considering not only the combination
of the colors but also the composition and the scale of the blocks. Each block blends
harmoniously into one another so that it creates a sense of rhythmical or rhythmic changes, even
though those colors used are analogous. Therefore, the print reminds me of lyrical melody,
especially moody and gentle jazz music. While the background of the print presents a sense of
color, the artist detached color from physical description and the objects are drawn childlike.
Thus, the print looks like an illustrated page of a child s diary that depicts an image of his or her

  • 2. South Italy Research Paper Southern Italy Mezzogiorno also known as South Italy, is a land of contrasts; on the one hand, it is the poorest part of Italy, and in the past much of the population subsisted on an almost exclusively vegetarian diet, eating greens and bread or pasta. The South consisted of regions and they are Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, and Calabria, Campania. Here, you will find rich and spicy tomato sauces and the almost exclusive use of olive oil in cooking. Some of the best olive oil comes from these regions, but very little of it is exported. The south is home to citrus fruits, fields of durum wheat for pasta, olive groves and vineyards. The sea is used to its fullest extent, with all manner of seafood enjoyed, from tuna to anchovies,... • 3. 2.1 Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneur And Enterprise Skills. 2.1 Entrepreneurship, Entrepreneur and Enterprise Skills Deп¬Ѓning the very essence of entrepreneurship is part of a longstanding theoretical debate (Henry, Hill Leitch, 2005, p. 99). Deп¬Ѓnitions are particularly important in the field because many of the terms associated with the discipline, such as entrepreneurship, entrepreneur and enterprise, are often used interchangeably. For the purpose of this review, the definition of entrepreneurship is synonymous with Gibb (2007), who describes entrepreneurship as sets of behaviours, attributes and skills that allow individuals and groups to create change and innovation, cope with and even enjoy higher levels of uncertainty and complexity (Gibb, 2007, p. 1). Meanwhile, the term entrepreneur ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2.2 Importance of Entrepreneurship Education The importance of the role of EE and enterprise skills is highlighted in both European and global development views (Organisation for Economic Co operation and Development (OECD), 2015). While a strong emphasis on economic success and job creation has propelled EE at tertiary level, there has not been an integrated approach in the secondary education sector (OECD, 2015). However, development is underway, with international education institutions facing policy pressure to explicitly embed EE in the curriculum (Mwasalwiba, 2012). A crucial reason for teaching entrepreneurial skills to youth is to help prepare them for employment and, in some cases, influence self employment and choosing entrepreneurship as a career path. However, EE is not about simply creating entrepreneurs and businesses. It is about teaching students enterprise skills, transferable to the real world. Taking part in incubator style programs teaches students that failure is acceptable; they learn resilience which is key in the competitive 21st Century employment landscape. This is reflected in the following textbook quote: Businesses fail, but entrepreneurs do not. Failure is often the fire that tempers the steel of an entrepreneur s learning and street savvy (Timmons, 1999, p. 47). Resilience, along with skills such as problem solving and creativity, are highly desired by Australian employers, as demonstrated in recent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How The Color Green Has A Calming Effect The color green has been said to have a calming effect, people have investigated the connections between colors and the way they make people feel emotionally for years and have declared green to be a psychologically soothing color. His eyes are green. Not quite green like the color you see when you look down early in the morning when the sun is peaking over the skyline and the morning dew is still clinging desperately to the verdant blades. When the droplets are glistening and you can see the faint glow of the day before. Art and nature evoke such beautiful colors but this green wouldn t be found in the most beautiful of paintings or diverse of gardens. Soothing doesn t match up with how you d describe it. Often, I must remind myself that he did this because he never loved me (I learned not to take this personally) as impossible as it sounds, but I grew to accept that he was never going to be capable of love in the way every little girl needs her dad to be. I started to see it when I was still understanding the concept of healthy love, the warning signs were always there, but I had not been able to see through lies and truth yet. Oh, he was always such a good actor too. Yet I saw it when I looked at his smile, his teeth reminded me of a brick wall, painted white, but over time chipped and smudged and the color faded into a vague cringey cream. The damage to the wall became more apparent the longer it got exposed to the natural deterrents of the world. Each brick placed strategically so that it doesn t collapse and I always did find it ironic that he did construction the bricks are glued in tight with hopes of never falling apart. I saw through it. When he smiled I knew every single muscle he moved was strategically planned and each grin was premeditated with the hopes that his facade would never collapse; because behind his humor, and his lies, he couldn t hide in his art. • 6. English Language Learners For My Assessment Profile The intended English language learners for my assessment would be primary aged students who are at the beginning level, according to WIDA. Primary aged students are students in kindergarten through grade 2, and WIDA describes students as beginning if they (a) understand and speak conversational and academic English with hesitancy and difficulty, (b) understand parts of lessons and simple directions, and (c) are at a pre emergent or emergent level of reading and writing in English, significantly below grade level. (http://ell.dpi.wi.gov/sites/default/files/imce/ell/pdf/elp levels.pdf). Although my students would be young, they could be classified as significantly below grade level if they cannot identify letters and perform poorly on the kindergarten screening and running records. Most ELL students at this age are not literate in their native language, which may make learning English literacy more difficult. Rationale The test I designed I could currently use with some of the students in my classes. I teach kindergarten and first grade English Language Arts and Social Studies and we have a moderate number of immigrant students whose parents do not speak English. Although we do not have an ESL program, our bilingual program draws many native Spanish speaking students to our school because their families want them to maintain their Spanish. We also have immigrant students from other countries, such as Middle Eastern and African countries. This exam covers some of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Dangers of Metabolife Essay The Dangers of Metabolife Obesity: The term obese implies that one is very fat , extremely overweight, and often carries negative connotations. However the scientific definition describes obese in a non judgmental way that simply expresses ones weight as a number, a certain body mass index (BMI). Since the early 1980s, BMI has been the medical standard for obtaining obesity measurements (http:/ /www.quantumhcp.com/obesity.htm). Government researchers and scientists developed the BMI to take height into account in weight measurements. It is important to realize that one cannot determine if one is obese based solely on ones weight. For example, if one weighs 145 pounds, is he or she considered to be obese? The answer to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact must be faced; obesity is increasing in numbers. However, it is interesting to note that as the number of overweight individuals increases, so too does the various methods of reducing caloric and fat intake. In today s busy society Americans are willing to try almost any weight loss product on the market in order to reach their goal of thinness. Americans are turning to herbal supplements in record numbers as a means of attaining their dietary needs and goals. One of the best selling herbal supplements on the market is Metabolife 356Гў (http://www.metabolife.com /news/100199.htm). What is Metabolife? Metabolife 356Гў is an herbal supplement whose purpose is to increase weight loss by burning fat and increasing energy levels, (http://www.w8lossbiz.com/metabolife/index.html). Simply put, Metabolife 356Гў raises the body s metabolism and creates a thermogenic (increase in metabolism and fat burning) response. Metabolife 356Гў is one of America s best selling herbal supplements, but where did it come from? The Origins of Metabolife 356Гў Michael J. Ellis developed the herbal supplement in the early 1990s as a means to help his father counter the fatigue of cancer treatment. Ellis, a former California police officer has had no medical experience; however, he was linked to a methamphetamine lab bust in 1990 (Cowley Reno, 1999). • 8. Speculative Desires and an Unchanging Western Hostility The article US Policy Toward Political Islam by Stephen Zunes is a thoroughly researched topic. His depictions of a greedy, judgmental America are accurate and to the point. While there is a good chunk of useful suggestions that may have created less hostility from our Eastern counterparts, it is not logical or possible to say that following these sanctions out would have changed the outcome of the last ten years. What can be said of these ideas, is that following a more honest approach to politics through US policies would have given America a much needed transparency. Many of the extremist groups are founded on the hatred of American downfalls such as our tendency to overtake their lands by military force in order to exploit the lands... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has led to the extremist groups attack of American policies and ideals. While it was necessary for our involvement in the first World War, it is not necessary now. The Palestinians living in East Jerusalem are living in horrible conditions at the hands of their Israeli oppressors. In this case, not taking a stand would at the very least strain our relationship with Israel, but improve our relations with Islamic countries of the Middle East. While there are a host of options laid out by Zunes in his article to directly affect our policies abroad, we must consider teaching tolerance at home. Children should be required to attend ethnicity/cultural sensitivity courses in elementary school. Colleges should require all freshman to take a more advanced study of global cultures. These classes would expose the world s top religions, compare them with our American values, and explain why different is not bad. If schools took a more direct approach to prejudices and just plain wrong information, as nation, we could create children devoid of ignorant opinions. Perhaps had this course been taken years ago, Miss. Teen USA could have answered the question regarding why American children cannot read maps. While it is impossible to create a completely aware and culturally sensitive generation, we can eliminate a huge amount of misplaced ill will towards those who come from different cultures and religions. Comparing Rappaccini s Daughter And The Birthmark The male gaze is a philosophical concept that implies that men use the eyes to communicate with females in a manner that is both critical, or can be described as sensual in nature. This is the case in Nathaniel Hawthorne s short stories, Rappaccini s Daughter and The birthmark. In The Birthmark Aylmer s gazeof the birthmark is not only an obsession, but an erotic feature that leads him to commit unethical practices to get rid of his wife s imperfection. Rappaccini s Daughter makes Beatrice feel guilty for her sexual allure. In addition, both male characters feel the need to dominate and control the women in their lives for feared of being overpowered by their sexuality. Knockin On Heaven s Door Meaning Knockin On Heaven s Door One of Guns N Roses popular songs is Knockin On Heaven s Door, but what many may not know is that this song was only a cover of the original song written by Bob Dylan. Although the song is comprised of very few lyrics, it has a deep meaning for people. The song was written by Bob Dylan in 1973 for the western film, Pat Garret and Billy The Kid. It is written from the perspective of a dying sheriff (Songfacts). The song reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart (Aloisio). After it hit the charts, the song s popularity grew. Many famous artists have covered the song, but another that stands out is the cover sung by Warren Zevon around 2003. While the original and the covers sung by Guns N Roses and Warren Zevon are similar, the artists all bring their own emotion and meaning to the song. Bob Dylan s version of Knockin On Heaven s Door is number 192 on Rolling Stone s 500 Greatest Songs of All Time list (Rolling Stone). Although Warren Zevon added a few things to his version of the song, his and Bob Dylan s were still very similar. Both portrayed a darkness and sadness to the song which I believe was the intention of the song when it was written by Bob Dylan. If they produce just cartidiges and no one bought them, they would have all this material with no alternative use. It also costs money to store. Having no alterative would lead to waste when they could have reused the material to make something else. It gives them variety. • 12. The Incarnation Of Jesus The Christ Christopher Davis THE380 Christ Church Integrative/ Research Essay 2 March 17, 2015 Interpretation: The Incarnation of Jesus the Christ Over 2,000 years there has been endless debates pertaining to Jesus the Christ. The main issue is how a man can be truly divine and fully human? It seems paradoxical because of the combination of two separate natures, but it is a unique act of forgiveness by God. There are in fact clues to show how and, why Jesus is in fact fully divine along with fully human. There are links that trace Jesus historically. Due to these historic biblical resources, it makes understanding the divine subdivision of Jesus hard to understand. How does one come to terms with the fully divine side of Jesus? Is it only mythicized biblical texts or devout faith in the biblical tradition? There is no definite way to prove history because there is no way to go back in time. But there are clues within biblical text to show the humanity of Jesus. The first trace of evidence to show that Jesus was fully human is displayed in the Gospel of John. The word became flesh (John 1:14). This is evidence to show that Jesus took on the logos; which brings God s word, and will into humanity directly. Indication shows that Jesus exhibited human traits such as emotion. Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears (Hebrews 5:7) Jesus was fleshly, and maintained human qualities that were hard to deny. His speech showed his formidable strength and how he was not going to let Elihu manipulate him like he does with other people. The Op stood his ground and would not abide by his request, especially since completing the job is so intertwined with his code of honor and conduct as a detective. In addition, I found it amazing how he was able to talk to Elihu, someone described to be Poisonville due to his immense power and influence without any fears. Sometimes evolution and adaptation are easily confused with each other. Evolution is changes in traits of a whole population. Overtime populations, not individual organisms, evolve. Survival is important to all vertebrates and adaptation helps vertebrates survive. Adaptation is a structural difference to make it better for a species to live in and to improve the species survival and reproductive rates. Adaptation essentially has three meanings. The first meaning of adaptation has to do with animals physiologically, which means that vertebrates adjust to its environment immediately (Gittleman, 2010). The second meaning of adaptation focuses on the progression on how vertebratebecomes adapted (Gittleman, 2010). The third meaning of adaptation focuses on how vertebrates evolved via natural selection over time (Gittleman, 2010). Over time, vertebrates have evolved and adapted to the environment for different reasons, such as predator defense, food security, and to respond to changes in deal with temperatures, just to name a few. Although adaptations are present in all animals there are a few differences between larger and smaller vertebrates. Migration and hibernation are a few of the different types of behavioral adaptations to help make it easier for them to survive. Notably, the most significant invention in Canadian history was the creation, of the innovative artificial cardiac pacemaker. John Hopps, who is more prominently known as the father of biomedical engineering , was the prodigy behind this invention. He collaborated with two other doctors, Wilfred Bigelow and John Callaghan at the Banting Institute Toronto to introduce the first external pacemaker in 1950. The initial model of the pacemaker monitored as well as controlled the patient s heartbeat. A pacemaker consists of electrodes, battery and a computerized generator. The main purpose of the pacemaker is to stabilize your heart rhythm. If there s a change in the rhythm of your heartbeat and it is inconsistent with the normal values then the computerized generator receives a stimulus, which in turn produces electrical signals. These electrical signals are further transmitted to the heart through electrical wires whereby they help maintain a normal heart rhythm. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... China India vs China The classical civilizations of China and India were two of the most important and extant civilizations with major political development. The advanced technology like the ox drawn plows, paper, silk roads, etc shaped China s development. India was manifested by artistry, trade, and exceptional advances in mathematics. There were three main dynasties in classical China known as the Zhou, Qin, and Han Dynastywhile India was founded by three empires: the Mauryan, Kushan, and Gupta empires. Even though these civilizations evolved around the same time, there are crucial differences and similarities. Religion, beliefs, hierarchical and patriarchal systems, and government reveal the distinction between the two civilizations. Confucianismand Daoism were the major belief systems in classical China that shaped their society. These belief systems were not exactly religions;they were created to teach individuals how to live life. Confucianism was introduced by Confucius, also known as Kung Fuzi, around 570 BCE. It focused on reverence for elders, self humility, and respect for rulers and the people being ruled. During the reign of Wu Ti, he emphasized values of Confucian philosophy and recorded the Confucian doctrine in a book called The Analects. The problems Confucius set out to rectify, notably political disorder, were approached through an emphasis on individual virtuous behavior (World Civilizations The Global Experience). When the Han Dynasty was first founded, it was heavily influenced by Shi Huangdi, a brutal and strict leader of the Qin Dynasty who ruled people under many rules and regulations. Confucius wanted to terminate that method of ruling and knock some sense into people on how to live life without brutality. Instead of living under hundreds of regulations/laws, Confucius developed a sense of shame that changed the society as a whole. People began to understand morals and values which formulated peace and prosperity. As a result, the Mandate of Heaven was passed which stated that the ruler is blessed by Gods and once the ruler becomes too corrupt, the dynasty would collapse. Contrary to Confucianism, legalism indicated that only rules and regulations would create order in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These things happen so often that an audience rarely stops to question the level of authenticity that remains after these conversions. This second Gulliver states You know the way home, but you ll never find it because deep in you heart, you don t want to to which the original Gulliver replies That s not true! The movie version of this story portrays Gulliver as a travel that has been gone for eight consecutive years and had been searching for his way home the entire time. He merely falls into unfortunate circumstances that prevent this return. In the book, however, it is less clear that Gulliver desires to be home at all. He very rarely speaks of his family and seems to have little emotion at being reunited with them after each journey or when he leaves them again. The movie s alternate portrayal of Gulliver seems incongruent with the added scene. Though the roots of sexism are a lot less broad when compared to racism (when taking into account there are only two flexible, recognizable human sexes), there is still a large amount of conflict surrounding the social problems between men and women. If one might not know sexism (or gender discrimination) is prejudice or discrimination based on a person s sex or gender. Sexism is something that can be affected by anyone. It has been effective mostly in history as well as the present, which has predominantly targeted many women and girls. As many people believed in Laurel Ulrich s quote Well behaved women seldom make history meant women who behave themselves as women should, rarely make history. This quote is accurate because each woman who made history had to portray themselves in a terrible manner or behave badly at some point in time to get there point across or make themselves significant . The eradication of sexism needs to be enforced because sexism creates disadvantages towards women in the world, substantially in the workplace. Sexism allows the development of negative emotions in young girls and women, and it impacts the self perception of men. I would like to change the issue of sexism towards women in our society. The techniques used by the poet such as theme, imagery and tone deepened my understanding of the issue. The structure of the poem is simple; there are three stanzas with eight lines in each. The courting places are still being used, however, the people of whom should be using them now have the burden of children and can no longer have the fun this place entails. The unripe acorns as described by Larkin, are the children who are still in school . This implies Larkin, as an outsider observing and looking in, believes that as generations pass romance is lost further and that people have children far to young. The children within the school are not mature enough to realise what courting means. A grim humour is assumed when the reader realises these children still have a future wereas the young mothers do not.The tone of the poem has become increasingly more cynical. Larkin refers to how regimented the mothers lives are again when they are expected to pick up their children from school. This event was significant to the United States during this time because, instead of helping our relations with France, like the US had hoped for after they accused us of allying with the British when Jay s Treaty was formed, it only made things worse. The United States was enraged by France s outrageous demands, and France was still angered by lack of promised US support during the French Revolution. 14.Revolution of 1800 The Revolution of 1800, as it was called by Thomas Jefferson, was the election that took place for presidency in 1800. What Is The Rising Tide Of Nationalism In Trade Responding to the Rising Tide of Nationalism in Trade: Evolving the Nation s Role to Make Trade Great Again 21119851 University of Western Australia IINTRODUCTION A resurgence of rising nationalism in recent years has prompted a slew of trade protectionist policies defending against the perceived threat to national sovereignty by trade globalisation. Recent trends in trade demonstrate a shifting reliance towards bilateral agreements and regional trading while shrinking away from multilateral participation. This implementation of nationalist trade protectionism has in solitude served to corrode the openness, trade, and global growth which vitally fuel the national interests which these ideologies seek to defend. While ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a matter of practice, nationalism frequently entails the implementation of policy which seeks to reclaim national resources from foreign groups, and redistribute those resources to the nation s citizens or government. This may be achieved through trade protectionism practices: where governments intentionally safeguard domestic industry from foreign competition, usually through policy regulation including tariffs or import quotas. By contrast, globalisation prioritises the exchange of goods and services, the interaction of people, and the sharing of information and technology across nations as enabled through domestic policy and international agreement. The prosperity of any nation is therefore intertwined with the prosperity of others, creating an environment of the shared pursuit of national interest, which fosters the sharing of success between nations through communal global growth. BModern Resurgence of Nationalism The WTO has warned that the recent global increase in nationalism may threaten the global economy more than any time in recent history, stating that as long as global economic weakness persists, protectionist pressure will build and could eventually become overwhelming . As economic stagnation continues, both dominant and emerging economies are now implementing policy designed to safeguard against the employment losses, high ratio of capital outflow, and foreign exploitation which threaten to undermine their national economic interests. ... • 35. Apocalypse Now Analysis In Francis Ford Coppola s critically acclaimed movie Apocalypse Now he portrayed a journey of five soldiers into psychological madness down the harsh Vietnamese jungle river, and through these four specific scenes in cinematic order of the boat s landings, Francis used this screenplay to boast utter psychological madness of the human mind. The first scene that deconstructs the stages of madness is the beach landing scene where the crew launches their patrol boat and destroys a village alongside Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore. Throughout this montage of scenes, also the longest shot segment in the movie, shows the men descending into the first stage of evil, which is the love of war; dehumanization of the enemy . Throughout these scenes at Charlie Beach , we really see an unfair fight led by Lieutenant Colonel Kilgore. Kilgore has installed a philosophy upon his men to disregard the military and fight this war as a game. In the first opening shots of the battle scene, Francis uses a beautifully done shot of the Helicopters descending Into the village in preparation for an assault. From this scene, we see how unfair the fight is. Right before the guns fire, we get two shots. The first shot is the raging helicopters that look like cowboys on horses or Calvary. The second shot is the peaceful and quiet Vietnamese villages. With these two shots, it demonstrates how the platoon sees war as playing cowboys and Indians. My motto is work hard a stay strong, so practicing and believing in myself will help me to be an expert next year. I used the colors red, blue, and green. He was a philosopher, novelist, and teacher who was heavily influenced by the acts of World War II. Some of his major philosophical works included Being and Nothingness and Consciousness. His works revolved around the human existence in the world. Some of his ideas could have a significant impact on educationin the United States, but most are not relevant in today s society because of the very nature of public education in the United States. One of Sartre s major ideas is that the world is absurd and the human is a lonely individual in this world. He believed that our existence had no meaning. Because there is no meaning attached to human existence, it is up to the human to create meaning. Therefore, there is nothing to stand in the way of a person making whatever they want out of their life and becoming anything they want. One of the foundations of the United States of America is that it is the Land of Opportunity, implying that a person can come to the United States and make a life for him or herself. So a modern United States education should be based on this idea and provide the platform for a student to become what they want. The reality is we teach the majority of students the same, in essence taking away that individuality that needs to be allowed for a person to become what they want. In the modern classroom, things should look very different from what we are used to. In such a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. The Poverty Of The United States Poverty can be defined as a condition that people suffer from due to lack of economic resources. For being such a prosperous country, the United States possesses a persistent problem. The problem is the poverty rate in America and how it has become a force that continuously grows. One fact that American citizens are not aware of or do not wish to implement in their minds is that nearly 50 million people in the United States live in poverty. Amongst the 50 million people in the United States that live below the poverty line, over 5 million more were women than man. This phenomenon as to in which women experience poverty at far higher rates than men is described as feminization of poverty, a term coined by Diana Pearce in 1978 (3: Thibos).... One of his main arguments was that federal welfare became so generous that it led to women preferring unwed motherhood and indolence over getting married and obtaining jobs (315: Edin and Lein). An associate professor of sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, Kathryn Edin, teamed up with Laura Lein, a senior lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin, in order to express whether the benefits of living off the welfare program in the United States actually enabled single mothers to make ends meet. Edin and Lein conducted a study by interviewing 379 single mothers in Boston, Charleston, Chicago, and San Antonio and displayed their studies in Making Ends Meet: How Single Mothers Survive on a Welfare Check . Amongst these single mothers, 214 were welfare reliant mothers and they were the people that Edin and Lein focused on in order to test the assumption of whether the welfare system was being abused or not. All 214 of these women and their 464 children relied on the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), the government income transfer program for poor families that consisted of non elders. On average these single mothers spent $213 a month on housing, $262 on food, $336 on other necessary expenses, and $64 on items that were not necessarily essential. This summed up to be a total of $876 being spent on an average family of 3.17 people. Although the money they were receiving was helping them reach their goal of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 56. German Art Observation Paper I visited Los Angeles County Museum of Art for the exhibition named Form in Fragments: Abstraction in German Art, 1906 1925 which highlighted in abstraction in German Expressionism. The exhibition was composed of over 60 works including works by Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Lyonel Feininger, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Paul Klee, Erich Heckel, Otto Dix, and an abstract film by Hans Richter. Among the many works on view, one of the Paul Klee s prints titled Hoffmannesque Scene caught my eye. Hoffmannesque Scene is a lithograph printed in black and colored inks on a wove paper that was created in 1921 in Germany. The title of the print tells you that it recounts a particular scene that was inspired by something. This abstract print depicts the freeform shapes of objects including human and animal with shaded blocks. The depiction of the scene resembles cave and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The print is presented with antique brass, pastel brown, pale gold, wheat, and pale chestnut. These undertones of colors that are softened or moderated create a feeling of gloom and calm at the same time. In addition, Klee used the technique of color blocking by overlapping squares. There is no particular color that dominates the entire image or completely catches a viewer s attention. However, Klee emphasized on harmonization of colors by considering not only the combination of the colors but also the composition and the scale of the blocks. Each block blends harmoniously into one another so that it creates a sense of rhythmical or rhythmic changes, even though those colors used are analogous. Therefore, the print reminds me of lyrical melody, especially moody and gentle jazz music. While the background of the print presents a sense of color, the artist detached color from physical description and the objects are drawn childlike. Thus, the print looks like an illustrated page of a child s diary that depicts an image of his or her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
