Evolution Of Horse Evolution Essay
Evolution is the change of species over many generation. This topic allows people to learn where
other animals come from. One animal that I am interested in is a horse because I show horses, and
have a passion for them. In this paper I will present researched information about the evolution of
the horse. The horse, a mammal of the family Equidae(extant horses, donkeys, and zebras). It
came around 50 million years ago, transforming to a small dog sized. After a period of time it
changed into regular horse size. The horse belongs to Perissodactyla (odd toed.)They are all
members who share hooved feet with an odd number of toes, also their upper lips and similar tooth
structure. Horses have a common ancestry with rhinoceroses. Modern horses are... Show more

Domesticated about 3,000 years ago, the horse had a huge impact on human history. Therefore they
were found in areas like, migration, farming, sport, communication, and travel. The species of
Equus lived from 5 million years ago until present. Living species include horses, donkeys, and
zebras. These fossils are found on every continent except Australia and Antarctica. The pictures on
the right show the Equus and Orohippus. Those are just a few examples of horse evolution, now i m
going to tell you about it s inherited structures and some other body structures. First i m going to
tell you about what you need to know about its inheritance. Horse breeds change and can develop
differently over time. Horse breeders found that characteristics and traits can be passed on from
parents and their offspring. Horse breeders selected those who had desirable characteristics and
traits to breed each other. Horses within a breed can be closely related to each other, or interbred,
which can have positive and negative affect. Most horse breeds are established by few horses.
Therefore, a breed s strengths are passed on to its offspring. Many horse breeds are established by a

Compare And Contrast Mental Illnesses
Mental and physical illnesses are both very serious, but also very different. Mental illnesses are
often overlooked, as well as overshadowed by physical illnesses. Mental and physical illnesses,
while vastly different, do have similarities. Both can require intense treatment, and both can get
overlooked. The difference is that mental illnesses are more difficult to diagnose. Say if you
break your arm, you know the bone is broken or fractured. Nobody could argue that. Where if
you are always sad and melancholy, it s just assumed you are having a bad day, or blamed on
mood swings. Physical illnesses are often caused by something specific, whether if it runs in your
family, you caught it from somebody else, or any other reason, there is almost... Show more content

Ableism is described as discrimination in favor of able bodied people. It applies to physical as
well as mental illnesses. It is a problem that most people are not aware of, and also accidentally a
part of it. Using terms such as stupid, retarded, crazy, freak, lame, as well as many others. To
most people they are viewed as innocent terms, not as ableist slurs. The best comparison that
could be made is that it s the same situation as using racial slurs. Racial slurs are more well
known and fought against compared to ableist slurs. Ableism is a very real problem, often
pushed aside as not a real problem . Most problems dealing with mental illnesses are overlooked,
including ableism. When someone is corrected on using an ableism, most claim it is because of
how they were raised or because they don t find it offensive . They generally are resistant to

Catullus Before Death Do Us Analysis
Until Death Do Us Part After a long and perilous journey from Verona, Catullus had finally arrived
at Rome. As he stood by the entrance to that magnificent and intimidating city, his emotions
overtook him like a tempestuous storm. He had left his family and his filial duties in order to
pursue a glorious career in his vocation and avocation: poetry. For Catullus, the small town of
Verona was a cultural wasteland; it suffered from a paucity of playwrights, poets, and prose
writers. Only in Rome, with its diverse and cultured populace, could he truly fulfill his dreams of
becoming one of Latin s greatest poets. Thus, as he stood by the gates of Rome, he felt a mixture
of feelings; excitement and apprehension at the future lying beyond the entranceway s ivory
veneer, and a sense of sadness and melancholia at the past he was forever abandoning. Catullus
had not yet taken two full strides in Rome before being suddenly accosted by a pulchritudinous
young lady. Introducing herself as Lesbia, the voluptuous woman graciously invited Catullus into
her house for a meal. Catullus did not hesitate for a moment to accept Lesbia s invitation, indeed
he had little choice; Lesbia s roseate cheeks and comely features had already put Catullus under her
amorous spell. Once inside Lesbia s capacious lodgings, Catullus... Show more content on

Photosynthesis Essay
Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is the most important part of the lively hood of humans and animals.
Without photosynthesis we would not be able to receive energy. We should be more appreciate of
plants, without them we would not survive. This paper will explain the basic components require
for photosynthesis, the role of chlorophyll, how energy is transferred, and photosystems I and II
and the most precious product results of photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is a reproductive system that occurs in plants. The main components required for
photosynthesizing are sunlight, energy, water and mineral from soil, and carbon dioxidefrom the air.
Once these components are combined they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One could say that it is the house where photosynthesize occur. The chlorophyll never changes from
its original form nor is combined when photosynthesis occurs.
Plants absorb energy from the sunlight whether on land or in the water. The energy is transferred to
humans and some animals that eat plants. Some animals are not able to eat plants so they eat
other animals who has energy stored up in them. Humans also receive a source of energy from
animals that we eat. What is quite amazing is that maggots receive energy from animals that have
been dead for a long period of time.
Photosynthesis has a two stage performance before plants produce the two products they are known
to produce. These stages are Photosystem I and II. Photosystem II is dependant on light reactions
for energy which causes the electrons to be react and be transferred to Photosystem II. The electrons
are transported through the Photosystem II electron transport system, however some energy is
used to drive ATP synthesis. Meanwhile, light is being absorbed by the Photosystem I, which
causes the electrons to react. This process sends the electrons to the Photosystem I transport
system where some energy is released as electrons travel through the electron transport system and
is captured as NADPH. When this process is completed oxygen is released from the plant and
glucose has been

Olive Oil Chromatography Lab Report
The experimental densities were quite close to the true/theoretical densities throughout all the
solids. Aluminium had an experimental value of 3g. and a theoretical value of 2.7
(Coolmagnetman.com, 2017), causing it to have an 11% percentage error. This percent error is
invalid as it is over 10%, therefore not precise enough to draw accurate and reliable conclusions
from. This consequently means that the experimental and theoretical density do not represent each
other. The percent error in the experiment (11%) is due to random error/s as it is lower than the
percent uncertainty (80%). Random errors are due to uncontrollable variables in the experiment
such as restrictions of the measuring apparatus, but can be reduced by a higher number of... Show

Olive oil both had an experimental density of 0.92and theoretical density of 0.92
(Hypertextbook.com, 2017). As a result, olive oil had an exceptionally accurate percentage error
of 0%, and means that the experimental and theoretical density precisely represent each other.
Therefore, this data is highly valid (0 5%) and can be used to draw accurate and reliable
conclusions from. Due to the lack of percentage error, there is no random or systematic errors
present. Although this data may in fact be inaccurate as there is a wide range of different brands
and versions of olive oil, and both the experimental and theoretical data weren t based on the exact
bottle of olive oil. Both density experiments could have been completed at different climates
/temperatures at the time of data collection. Additionally, the data was rounded at many points
throughout the experiment to obey the rules of significant figures, losing the accuracy of the data.
Ethanol (rubbing alcohol), obtained an experimental density of 0.76 and a theoretical density of
0.78 (Ausetute.com.au, 2017). Subsequently, ethanol received a small percentage error of 2.6%
because, even though the difference in density was 0.02, in ratio it is larger due to the small
density. This data is highly valid as it is between 0 5% percentage error, meaning it can be used to
draw very close to accurate and reliable conclusions from. The percentage error (2.6%) is smaller
than the percent uncertainty (7.9%) and therefore means that the error was due to a random error.
Random errors result from uncontrollable elements/variables unavoidable in the experiment, which
in this case would be the limitations of the measuring apparatus. It can never be fully eliminated but
can be reduced by an increased number of trials. However, the experimental and theoretical densities
may have been accomplished at different temperatures and the densities

The Miranda Warnings
Miranda Warnings The so called Miranda warnings were developed in response to the Supreme
Court s decision in Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436 (1966). Many people believe that this
landmark decision invented the rights that are in the Miranda warning. It did not. The rights that
are included in the Miranda warning are guaranteed in the Constitution. Furthermore, the e
foundations for Miranda v. Arizona (1966) were laid in Malloy v. Hogan (1964) which applied the
privilege against self incrimination to state criminal proceedings and Escobedo v. Illinois (1964)
which allowed consultation with an attorney about the privilege against self incrimination
(Anonymous, 2004). However, prior to this decision, law enforcement officials did not have to
ensure that criminal suspects were aware of their rights prior to engaging in an interrogation. In the
underlying case, Ernesto Miranda was arrested for the kidnapping and rape of a woman. After two
hours of police interrogation, he signed a written confession. Miranda was never informed of his
right to council, his right to remain silent, or of the fact that statements he made could be used
against him. Miranda s attorney attempted to have his confession excluded at trial, but the trial
court allowed the confession and Miranda was subsequently convicted of rape and kidnapping.
Miranda appealed the decision to the Arizona Supreme Court, which affirmed, based on the notion
that Miranda had not sought out an attorney. The U.S.

Depression Among Older Adults
Alcohol is often associated as a mild case among substance use disorders despite that there are
many persons diagnosed with alcohol use. Based on the survey conducted by the World Health
Organization (2005), the worldwide per capita consumption of alcoholic beverages equaled 6.13
litres of pure alcohol consumed by every person aged 15 years or older. Likewise, it was
reported that each person consumes 28.6% or 1.76 litres of homemade and illegally produced
alcohol and is considered unrecorded alcohol. Since most studies on alcohol abuse focuses on
the younger generations, only few literatures were found on cases among older adults. Elderly
people are hospitalized due to alcohol abuse due to higher sensitivity and poorer ability to
metabolize alcohol (Saitz, 2003). They are advised to moderately drink with no more than two
drinks on a single occasion as they are at risk for interpersonal and functioning problems
(Merrick et. al., 2007). Though less prevalent, it was found by Fiske and colleagues (2009) that
older adults are more prone to depression than the younger ones. In fact, most of them who are

Our country would be stronger if it had universal health care, or at least more and cheaper health

for everyone to have universal health care. Research shows that in the three branches of our

sometimes they think the cost is too great. First of all, in the executive branch, presidents are the
most important. Many people think that President Obama was the only president to say people

A Study On Green Fluorescent Proteins
Question:
Would the GFP gene in a pGLO transformed E. coli be activated by a sugar other than arabinose?
Introduction:
Green Fluorescent Protein, produced by the bioluminescent jellyfish Aequorea victoria, is a protein
that fluoresces green under ultraviolet light. Since its discovery, properties of the protein have been
improved by mutations in the gene resulting in the expansion of its spectrum, which now contains
brighter variants and multiple different colors. GFP is used in a wide variety of applications and
technologies. Its many different applications have contributed greatly, and continue to do so, in
numerous fields of study including, but not limited to, cellular and molecular biology,
microbiology, biotechnology, and medicine.
In the pGLO Bacterial Transformation lab, Escherichia coli is transformed with a gene encoding
green fluorescent protein by inserting a plasmid containing the GFP gene, beta lactamase, and
arabinose into the bacterium. Successfully transformed bacteria will grow in the presence of
ampicillin and glow a bright green color under ultraviolet light. The sugar arabinose is responsible
for switching on the GFP gene in the transformed cells, without it, the gene will not be expressed.
The requirement of the presence of arabinose in the pGLO lab in order to activate the gene for the
green fluorescent protein highly intrigued me. The idea that a simple sugar held the key to the final
step of the transformation, made me wonder if other sugars,

Comparing The Once And Future King
Written by T. H. White, The Once and Future King tells the life of King Arthur. In four books, T.
H. White chronicles the rise and fall of King Arthur. The Sword and the Stone, the first book of
The Once and Future King, details what King Arthur learned as a child when he was not known to
be the next King of England under the influence of his pacifistic tutor Merlyn. He learns that being
fair and just is better than power and tyranny. In the next book, The Queen of Air and Darkness,
King Arthuris guided by Merlyn and applies what he learned as a child to his reign as King to
create the Round Table , where all knights are equal and will use their Might for Right , using
their power for good, not tyranny. In the third book, The Ill Made Knight, King Arthur tries to
keep his Round Table from splitting, all the while his wife, Guenever, and his best knight and
friend, Lancelot, are rumoured to be having an affair. In The Candle in the Wind, the last book,
King Arthur creates laws and uses trials, juries, and evidence to instil justice as his last attempt to
create a perfect society. Throughout his life, King Arthur is seen as benevolent, brave, chivalrous,
open minded, progressive, determined, optimistic, and faithful. King Arthur s traits portray him
positively, but he is not perfect and his flaws can sometimes portray him negatively. King Arthur
was told he would be a squire for his brother, Kay, who would be knighted. Arthur did not know

Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare and Valentine by Carol...
The two poems Sonnet 130 and Valentine present similar ideas about love, though they are
written centuries apart. Sonnet 130 (written by William Shakespeare) is like a love poem turned
on its head. Instead of describing her in a positive light, he criticise her physical features. He
describes the flaws of her body, her smell, even the sound of her voice. Then, at the end, he
changes his tune and tells us about his real and complete lovefor her. Valentine (written by Carol
Ann Duffy) describes a gift for a lover; such as you would give on Valentine s Day. It is a rather
unusual present an onion. The poem explains why it is a powerful gift of love, much more than
the clichГ©d roses or box of chocolates. The onion becomes a metaphor for love, and so the poem
is about love as well as Valentine gifts.
Both of the poems are quite cynical about the old fashioned presentation of love. The moods of
the poems portray a dark but realistic version of love and they try to tell you that you shouldn t
go over the top with love and be all lovey dovey. They both feel the physical features are not what
you should be judged on, but the characteristics and actual person itself. They are both truthful
and as a result can be quite critical and harsh in tone. Valentine shows this when Carol Ann Duffy
says that the onion is a wobbling photo of grief, she is being very blunt and trying to tell us that
when you open up the onion, it will make it cry. This is like a metaphor for the juice,

Government As A Market Economy
1.What do you think about the role of government in a market economy? Do you think government
should intervene in a market economic system? Why? Explain.
The government plays a critical role in a market economy, for it establishes the strategies of
providing key services, redistribution, regulation and subdivision. Concerning provision, the
government plays the role of providing public goods and services such as national security, which
is imperative for a stable economy. Within the American economy for example, the Lorenz curve
provided information towards the existence of unequal distribution of income. By carrying out
redistribution therefore, the government will be making distribution of income and other important
resources less unequal (Gregory et al, 2004). By carrying out regulation within a market economy,
the government will be setting grounds for a free and fair market, which is the foundation upon
which a stable economy operates. Over and above, I harbor the perception that the government
should intervene in a market economic system, for such a strategy guarantees that, the ideal
monetary and fiscal policies are in place to prevent the market from fluctuations.
2.What are the proprietorship business organizations and corporations? Which one do you think is
more important for the American economy? As a macro economic policy maker, would you
support the growth in the number of proprietorship businesses or corporations? Why?

I am not against creative financing to help individuals obtain the homes of their dreams. I was
just not happy about the way that sub prime mortgages were presented to customers who did not
fully understand what their particular mortgage note detailed. Therefore, the lessons that we
have learned is that a buyer needs to be fully informed on how the process actually works. I
recall one former client who was wiser than most, and she had decided that despite what the
bank told her what she could afford ($140K) , she searched for a home priced ($100K) so she
could afford it on her own. Years later, she told me about her husband s infidelity and sure
enough he left their home within 14 months and she was stuck with the payments. Nevertheless,
she made her payments and even though she was late several times, her resilience and
determination paid off. She sold her house to a contractor for more than doubled its worth
because of the two lots that the house was on. She had a success story. That is why it is very
important to know what you are getting yourself into. I felt very sad when I would witness the
lack of understanding of newly arrived immigrants who could barely understand the English

Analysis Of Joe Painter, A Political Geographer, And The...
The definition of state is ambiguous. The meaning can change depending on the context. For
instance, it could relate to agencies within the state such as government bodies, or the practices
carried out by individuals. Furthermore, the state is part of everyday life and manifests itself
through the combination of institutions, practices, people and discourses. This creates social order
(Blakeley and Saward, 2009, p. 360).
We encounter the state through people such as police officers or doctors; people we may recognise
as professionals. These people work for government bodies such as the police force or the National
Health Service. Joe Painter, a political geographer, mentions every day discourses of state actors
(Painter, cited in Blakeley and Saward, 2009, p. 354). By this he means that the people
representing the government bodies are state actors and the actions they carry out as part of the
role are the every day discourses . These people are physical examples of the state in action but it
is possible for the state to operate in invisible ways. Jill s story illustrates both of these aspects.
Firstly, the presence of the school inspectors and health visitor are examples of the visible
presence of the state. There are also examples of state institutions namely the post office and
school. Additionally, the requirement for Jill to have an MOT certificate for her car is evidence of
the state operating in invisible ways. The state also dictates Jill s routine at

The Benefits of Responsible Human Cloning Essay

On an unremarkable afternoon in July of 1996, in an unremarkable shed in Scotland, a lamb was

era. This lamb, simply named Dolly (after Dolly Parton in reference to the mammary cell used as

The fact that the lamb was cloned from these specialized cells such as muscle cells, liver cells, or
mammary cells is what made this discovery of such importance. Before this, scientists had thought
that these cells had lost their ability to grow into a new embryo. They had already cloned embryos,

commonly associated with those opposed to cloning.
Cloning is immoral.
As the procedure stands now, the cloning of humans is immoral. The procedure used has a low
success rate and disfiguration and death is not uncommon, but that is because it has only been
developed to be used on animals, with which these types of losse s are far more acceptable. All
reasonable scientists agree that the process should not even be attempted until the process is
refined to meet acceptable success rates and that those higher success rates will be feasible in the
near future.

Physics in Cameras
Cameras have been a popular device ever since they were invented during the late 1800 s.
Cameras are electronics that give us the ability to capture a moment with the push of a button.
These little machines allow a real life image to be seen on paper and to be kept as a memento.
The way that cameras are able to do this is through physics. Cameras are relatable to physics
because they involve visible light, light refraction, light reflections, and electromagnetic fields in
the motor. Cameras are involved with physics because they use visible light to capture a picture.
Visible light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The electromagnetic spectrum contains
different wavelengths and frequencies. The visible light spectrum is the part of the electromagnetic
spectrum that humans can see. Specific wavelengths in the spectrum are represented by specific
colors. This is how humans are able to perceive colors, through visible light. When a camera
captures an image, it uses visible light to capture the different wavelengths. These wavelengths are
seen as different colors which come together to create the image. Visible light is what allows the
colors that create the image to be seen when the picture is captured.
Cameras are also involved with physics because they use light refraction to focus the image. Light
refraction is the change in the speed of light when it enters a medium of a different speed. For
example, lenses on a camera are mediums that refract light. The light wave

Abraham Whitfield
Prologue
By 1920, Abraham Whitfield was a successful surgeon. He was popular for his expertise in
orthopedic surgery, his name has become a household word. And with success comes the wealth
he could only dream of as a young struggling resident physician in his place of business. Thus, he
lived the life of comfort and built a Victorian mansion in the woods of Natick, Massachusetts. The
mansion fronted a sprawling garden of about 70 meters from the road. With his affordability,
Abraham married Victoria Mansfield, a beautiful young well bred lady, from a similarly wealthy
family. Over time, Victoria bore him three children, the eldest was a girl named Freda and the two
boys thereafter, named Andy and Joseph. Living a life of high culture, they ... Show more content

The story was handed down to me by my grandfather. Kele, who was Native American by
descent, saw Sally sitting under one of the trees in the front yard. Sally found out Abraham was a
doctor who was married to Victoria and had three kids. The bodies of his family were discovered a
month after they died when they have been reported missing. The authorities found them lying
neatly on their beds either strangled or smothered with a pillow...except for Joseph. The youngest
child was found inside the broom closet under the stairs with a broken neck. It seemed he woke up
in the middle of the night, saw what was happening and ran to the closet to hide. Abraham found
him when he heard a whimper coming from under the stairs. He forced it open and broke his neck.
No one knows what happened to Abraham, a few believe he went in hiding, still, others think he
killed himself somewhere in the house...his body was never found.
Chapter 8
Packing as fast as she could, Sally almost felt the joy of relief the semester break offered. She
was going home. As she rode her car and maneuvered the pathway, she stopped to take one last
look at the house and all the miseries it holds. Glancing up, she saw a man looking out the small
window in the attic watching her leave. Now, at last, she knew who he was...and she knew too she

To enhancement of my professional and academic knowledge, the internship program might be an
essential tool and supporting element. Working with the Fairfax County s ADR office, I have been
gaining some knowledge in the field of workplace conflict, where facilitation, intake, and conflict

following targeted objectives have been addressing through the different program implementation
strategies.
1. Learning the techniques that can be used in the organizational conflict facilitation/mediation;
2. Enhancing my effective communication skill by outreaching to other agencies in Fairfax
Government and community;
3. Developing my research skill through information gathering, verifying, and analyzing from the

What Does It Mean To Say That The Rich Get Richer And The...
There, the poor are not oppressed, the rich are not privileged. . . . Their taxes are few because their

riots and tumults. I m asking for the vote of every single African American citizen. You re living in
poverty. Your schools are no good. You have no jobs.
African Americans, now 45 percent poverty in the inner cities. The education is a disaster. Jobs
are essentially nonexistent. In the end, you re measured not by how much you undertake but by
what you finally accomplish. These quotes are all by our current president, Donald Trump. Pain
states that the poor are not oppressed, the rich are not privileged . Trump and Paine have two
totally different views when it comes to money. The sad thing is that what Trump believes most
Americans also believe. I have been on both sides of poor and wealthy. I have seen both sides from
both perspectives. Many wealthy people would say who provides the jobs? and others would reply
saying we do! and thinks it is fine. The only reason why the poor are offered jobs is that the so
called wealthy people are too lazy to do the work. The phrase the rich get richer and the poor get
poorer is very accurate in the US today. I believe that Paine s beliefs in 1791 and views would
change if he lived in 2018. I am a firm believer that people are judged more on money than any
other aspects of life. Some of the most successful people today have

The Anatomy Of The Cerebral Cortex
The cerebral cortex is a vital component of the brain, and is responsible for bodily functions that
would be difficult to live without. To have a more suitable expertise of the cerebral cortex
scientist divided the brain into for lobes contingent to the purpose of what each lobe is responsible
for. Each lobe of the cerebral cortexplays an essential role in humans every day life. If one of the
lobes were absent being successful at the University of Oklahoma would be difficult if not
unviable. The cerebral cortex has numerous functions, each being unique to how it affects the
human body. Scientist categorized the cerebral cortex into four different lobes depending on their
purpose to improve our understanding and assist our research of the cerebral cortex. The four
lobes of the cerebral cortex are the Frontal, parietal, occipital, and temporal lobes. The frontal lobe,
located at the front of the brain close to our foreheads, is in charge of more intricate and complex
work of the brain. It manages jobs such as contemplating, making decisions, and planning, but the
frontal lobe is also in charge of emotions and communication proficiency. The frontal lobe is an
important component of the cerebral cortex and is associated in most every day life experiences.
Whether it be deciding on an outfit for the day, or having a conversation with a friend. The parietal

From the perspective of the lessee, this case would be treated as a finance lease because it
reflects the relevant requirement in AASB117 Leases for finance lease. AASB 117 define finance

contingent rent, transfer of ownership, bargain purchase option, lease term, economic life, and
minimum lease payments (AASB 117 par 10 11). In this case, we can see that some of the

Lastly, it also satisfied the minimum lease payment, where the inception of the lease the present
value of the minimum lease payment amounts to at least substantially all of the fair value of the

b) Present Value First, as the lease is non cancellable and at the inception of the lease the present
value of the minimum lease payments amounts to at least substantially all of the fair value of the
leased asset (calculations provided below), the lease is a finance lease.
Present value of 4 lease payments of $100,000discounted at 20% (we eliminate the executory
costs)$100,000 x 3.106=$310,600
Present value of unguaranteed residual$80,000 x 0.482= $38,560 $349,160
c) Schedule of Lease Receipts for the Lessor
Note: Because the first receipt occurs immediately it is not discounted.
The implicit rate is the rate that, when applied to the minimum lease payments plus unguaranteed
residual, causes the sum of these present values to equal the fair value of the asset at lease
inception. It is emphasised that unguaranteed residuals are not part of the minimum lease payments
because the lessor is not required to make such payments. However, knowledge of the unguaranteed
residual is necessary to determine the interest rate implicit in the lease. Using 20 per cent, the
present value of the minimum lease payments, plus the unguaranteed residual, is:

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum s Art Collection
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum s art collection blends history and culture to aesthetically
define a single individual: Isabella Stewart Gardner. From the Mosaic Floor: Medusa of the inner
courtyard, to The Coronation of Hebe (Paolo Veronese) on the ceiling of the third floor Veronese
Room, Gardner determined every inch of both the interior and exterior of the structure housing her
personal collection of masterpieces. This museum was specifically designed to resemble a 15th
century Venetian palazzo, inspired from the city that captured Gardner s heart and ultimate vision
of her legacy (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum). Assisted by Renaissance revival architect,
Willard T. Sears, the palazzo like structure was realized in its full glory, albeit Renaissance
ornamentation had no logical place in early 20th century Boston, Massachusetts. However, Isabella
Stewart Gardners fascination with the Renaissance was not solely because the works and buildings
were visually pleasing. A palazzo, for a wealthy family, was a lasting symbol of status. Gardner s
choice to create a museum inspired by this Renaissance structure demonstrates how this
Renaissance mindset can be translated into her modern context when crafting her own legacy.
The exterior of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is drastically more modest than the interior. In
the same fashion as the traditional palazzos of the Renaissance, the masonry is smooth and
understated. The flat roof resembles that of the Palazzo

The Comparison of Marxists and Elitists Accounts of...
The comparison of Marxists and Elitists accounts of political power.
In this essay we will try to compare the Marxists and the Elitists views of political power and
what makes these views different. Before we start analyzing it should be remarked that the
Elitists approach is closely connected to the works and ideas of Gaetano Mosca, Roberts
Michels and C. Wright Mills and the founder of such an approach to studying political power (W.
Pareto), who opposed his ideas to those of Marx and Gramsci. Therefore, there is a conflict of
ideas, which is to be unveiled in this essay.

This idea reminds of the Nietzsche s Ubermensch, who is the one to power the others. The
similarity of these ideas lies in the fact that in Elitist s theory they assume that all people are not
created equal: some are stronger, more intelligent, more artistic, etc. Of course, not all abilities
lead to economic wealth or political power however, those people who have the most of the
particular abilities which a society rewards become the political elite. Here we can draw a line to
cross out Marx s idea that people are born equal and the only thing that makes them different is
being attributed to certain social class and therefore, there personal characteristics defer the social
structure the economic structure. Another Elitist Gaetano Mosca proposed the idea that there is
a ruling elite, so called Classe Politica (political elite) and Social forces those social and
economic categories on whom the society depends on because of their particular abilities. In

social forces have a major influence in them. Moreover, political elite are also the representatives

characteristics based on the social classto which they belong. During the eighteenth century, social

social classes based on the level of power they have. One class is the rulers such as the King of

The narrator says that when the King saw how Imoinda, a young woman with whom he has
fallen in love, reacted to the gift he sent her in Oroonoko s name, it gave him some affliction, but
he salved it (Behn 2143). Here, the narrator explains that the King was very upset when he saw
that Imoinda was in love with Oroonoko, but he ridded himself of these sad feelings by sending
her the royal veil which forced her to become one of his wives. This shows that the King has a
selfish nature because he could not overcome his desire for Imoinda and let her marry
Oroonoko. This selfishness leads him to betray Oroonoko. Both the King and Byam show
disloyalty since they betray Oroonoko which establishes negative character. This disloyalty is
also distinct to those who are of a high social class position because they are deliberately
betraying Oroonoko as opposed to doing it unintentionally. Because negative traits, such as
disloyalty, are given to characters who have governmental power, a link between negative
character and high social class characters can be established. Another link which can be seen
between social class positon and character is through the characters who are neither rulers nor
slaves having positive character traits. These characters are a middle class by the fact that they do

Earworm Essay
Can t Get It Out of My Head
Chances are, you have listened to the radio at some point today. Maybe even right now, you are
still humming a song you heard hours ago. You are not alone. Many people today suffer from the
same thing you are experiencing. This sometimes annoying experience is called an earworm. The
earworm effect is very real.
What is an earworm? An earworm, a term derived from the German ohrwurn is defined as a
cognitive itch or the inability to dislodge a song and prevent it from repeating itself in one s head
(Synapse). It is also described as a catchy piece of music that continually repeats itself through a
person s mind. Some people may hear the term and think that it is a myth. Others may hear the term
and take it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The earworm strongly relies on the phonological loop which is a short term memory system
located in your auditory cortex. The phonological loop can best be pictured as a record that
plays over and over again without stopping, but only playing a part of the song. That may be a
reason why you only remember parts of the song; the phonological loop is a short term memory
system. A lot of the time, people may get the song stuck in their head because they can t remember
how the song ends, only the particular chorus of the song. Another reason why you may only
remember parts of the song is because certain pieces of music may have properties that excite an
abnormal reaction in the brain. (Synapse) The songs will most likely be catchy, which will
contribute to the earworm effect. There may also be a psychological reason to why some songs
are more likely to stick in your head. They include memory triggers, emotional states, and stress
levels. Psychologist researchers may even be able to treat patients with memory loss by studying
music memory. Tracking an earworm in a scientific setting can be a near impossible task .
(BrainFacts). How long does the earworm effect last? According to researchers, about 98% of all
people have gotten songs stuck in their heads at one time or another.

Consequences Of Urbanization During The Progressive Era
Many industries like the railroad, steel, and oil industries transformed American society in the early
20th century. The railroad industries was one of the most important since thanks to it, the costs of
products decreased and the population increased because food was available in a large variety and
quantity. Along with the increase of these industry, also came the rise of urbanization. This is called
industrialized or the rize of many industries. Industrialization impacted urbanization by crating
economic growth and job opportunities that drew people into cities included european immigrants.
Although everything was not quite bright. Some of the consequences of urbanization were poor
housing conditions, sanitation problems, disease, and overcrowding. Three issues that Americans
addressed in the Progressive Era were women suffrage, public health reform, and child labor.
Reformers attempted to solve these problems by forming organizations and raising government
awareness. During the Progressive Era, American women were fighting for suffrage or the right
to vote. Women were viewed as supporters of men and had to be responsible for managing the
homelife. While middle class women lived in cities as clerks, teachers, and nurses, lower class
women had to work either on farms or in factories. Document B suggests that prohibiting women to
vote is forcing them to work under hard conditions. The smaller wage and harder conditions
imposed on the women worker are due to the lack of

Rhetorical Theory Of Identification And Hillary Clinton s...
Rhetorical Theories of Persuasion:
Theory of Identification and Hillary Clinton s 2016 Campaign Video
The theory of identification is one of the rhetorical theories of persuasion. Under the theory of
identifications, there are several key assumptions. One assumption is that the speaker has at least
one quality that is similar to one of the qualities of the audience. At the least, the speaker must have
the ability to make it appear to the audience that they have one similar characteristic. Another
assumption is that being able to identify with the traits of the speaker can persuade the audience to
agree with the speaker s argument. This means that the audience is receptive to the speaker s
portrayals of his or her traits. In all of these, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, identification comes in full circle when the audience members are able to relate with the
projected qualities or beliefs (Burke and Zappen 336). This relational process is contingent on
whether the projected qualities or beliefs are similar or the same with the qualities or beliefs that
the audience members possess. In other words, audience members must have a prior understanding
of their own qualities and beliefs.
Symbolism is another concept in the theory of identification. In a nutshell, symbolism, as its name
suggests, uses symbols in order to represent ideas or values. In theory of identification, symbols
are used in order to compel the audience to identify with the values or ideas that the symbols stand
for (Taboada and Mann 571). In a sense, the meaning of symbols may vary from one person to
another. Nevertheless, given the proper context, the meaning of certain symbols may be established
with more clarity. This implies that symbols are also able to project certain identities. For example,
a monument may elicit upon the viewer the memories of a bitter event in a particular community
and the lessons that the event continue to bring to the same community. When applied to a larger
group, symbols may induce cooperation among their intended audience (Taboada and Mann 575).
In other words, the audience members are not only able to identify with the symbol but also with
one another. Indeed,

Rectification Of Cameras Captured Documents Images For...
Rectification of camera captured document images for Camera based OCR technology Abstract
Due to the rapid progress in digital cameras industry, camera captured documents becomes as
another possibility or choice for document capturing and understanding for OCR applications.
However, image quality degradations arising from the image acquisition process have severe effect
on these applications. The distortion results from digital camera may take the shape of skew,
perspective distortion or geometric distortion. We propose fully automatic preprocessing techniques
to enhance the digital camera captured images to improve the performance of OCR applications.
Our algorithms depend on the features of the text lines and letters and do not need any especial
equipment. Experimental results on a real camera captured images demonstrate 10~15 %
enhancement in current commercial OCR packages. 1.Introduction Textual content in books,
newspapers and articles have been traditionally digitized using scanners and read with the help of
optical character recognition (OCR). Recent technical advances in digital cameras have led the
OCR community to consider using them instead of scanners for document capture. Compared with
the scanner, the digital camera is quite easier to use, being able to capture images from any
viewpoint. Cameras can be easily integrated with portable computing devices such as PDAs, cell

The sacred American tradition of free public education is in turmoil. The values, knowledge and
creativity which forged America into the greatest nation of the world originated in the classroom.
Classrooms which thrived in the past, are suffering in the present. Inequalities in the American
education system are apparent and vivid; most prominent are those regarding income. Poverty s
relationship with education is parasitic, and the barrier its erecting between the student and the
American dream grows every day. American s must quickly agree upon a cure for this disease if
America is to be a healthy and prosperous nation for the future.
The first step in any plan for recovery is to diagnose the illness. Combining their ... Show more

The previously mentioned educational professors Greg J. Duncan and Richard J. Murnane
combined their knowledge in a Sage Journal publication proposing a solution which takes
advantage of advances in research knowledge provides important school supports for teachers and
school leaders and includes sensible systems of accountability [with] high academic standards
(Duncan 50). Reaching the educational needs of low income students requires a community of
dedicated professionals. Once this community is created, federal funding should be provided to
support community directives and goals. Continuing, educational expert Susan B. Neuman
professor of Teaching and Learning at New York University advocates for extra funding to support
poor communities along with additional human resources (Neuman 18). Neuman contends that an
increase of professionally trained educators along with federal funding will benefit any community
suffering from economic disadvantages. An education system with professionals has the ability to
develop community oriented goals and programs to assist underprivileged students in their
educational careers. Furthermore, if federal funds are allotted to such programs, their effectiveness
will increase significantly. Fortunately, the viability of this educational strategy is

Theme Of The Graveyard Book
CORE The Graveyard Book (Neil Gaiman)
In The Graveyard Book , the author, Neil Gaiman conforms to the conventions of fantasy genre, by
making the novel have a deep and much hidden meaning, which the reader may not identify at first
glance. However, Neil Gaiman also subverts from the conventions of fantasy genre, because of the
reversal in roles of traditional characters, in typical fantastical stories. The Graveyard Book by Neil
Gaiman, is a children s fantasy novel. This book is about a boy, named Nobody (Bod) Owens,
who is taken in, raised and educated by supernatural inhabitants of a graveyard, after his family
was murdered by the man Jack . How and why Neil Gaiman chooses to conform to and subvert
from the fantasy genre, will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clear examples of this are Mr and Mrs Owens, who are ghosts, but still agree to take care of Bod.
Mrs. Owens and her husband have taken the child under their protection. It will take more than
just a couple of good hearted souls to raise this child. It will, said Silas, take a graveyard. This
quote shows that although Mr and Mrs Owens are ghosts, they can still be kind and loving
towards others. Another character in The Graveyard Book , who has an unordinary
characteristic, compared to traditional fantasy characters, is Silas, who is a vampire, but
nonetheless, looks after and provides for Bod, as his guardian. This shows how Neil Gaiman s
book subverts from traditional characters, because in typical fantastical stories, supernatural
characters, such as ghosts and vampires, are constantly portrayed as having a bad or evil nature.
In The Graveyard Book , Neil Gaiman most likely subverted from the fantasy genre, to make his
book original and unique, rather than to follow the conventional story line. Another reason as to
why Neil Gaiman subverted from the fantasy genre, is to show a pleasant and friendly side to
supernatural characters, which are often portrayed as evil. This is because most readers have the
common mindset, that creatures such as vampires and ghosts must be

The Changing Role of Science Fiction Essay
Science fiction means a lot of things to a lot of different people, thus a variety of definitions have
arisen to allow for this. Perhaps the most simple of these can be found in the The Merriam Webster
Dictionary, which states that science fiction is fiction dealing principally with the impact of actual
or imagined science on society or individuals (652). Most of academia, however, prefers an
extended version from DarkoSuvin, who says SF is:
A literary genre whose necessary and sufficient conditions are
the presence and interaction of estrangement and cognition, and
whose main formal device is an imaginative framework alternative
to the author s empirical environment (Online 4).
While either of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also says that Proto SF has to embody a sense [. . .] that the marvels it depicts can be argued for,
if necessary by example and analogy from the existing world (35).
One of the first examples of this can be seen in The True History of Lucian of Samosata which
was written c. 175 C.E. Lucian was aware of the beginnings of true astronomy, which had, with
reasonable accuracy, determined the Moon s diameter and its distance from the Earth. He used
all known science of the time to write his book, but did not know that air wasn t present for most
of the way between the two heavenly bodies, therefore his device of having a ship lifted by a
waterspout and carried to the Moon on a whirlwind seemed quite possible to him (Del Rey 13).
Proto SF is a vast genre containing many well known and not so well known texts. Among these
can be found Shakespeare s Othello and Swift s Gulliver s Travels as well as Baron Ludvig
Holberg s Journey of Niels Klim to the World Underground, just to name a few.
Many scholars agree that the birth of science fiction came about in 1818 with the publication of
Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Shelley wrote in the popular style of the time, which lead many to
believe her novel more Gothic than SF, but the creation of the monster and

integrative approach yields better results (Fells, 2012).
There are several common strategies and behaviour with approach in distributive negotiation.
Different with integrative approach, information exchange while using distributive approach is
limited, especially just the part that help for own side. Fells (2012) generalize the discussion of
Walton and McKersie s (1965), which stated that both party aimed to shape own expectation with
adopting firm positions and commitments between the parties. This has been further explained by
Riley (2001), negotiators tried to turn the other party to agree while concession may be made to
reach an agreement.
Mediation
Mediation is the third party intervention within a negotiation in order to find way to resolve
problems. Beber (2010, p.3 4) defined that mediation is the non coercive intervention by a third

  • 2. Evolution Of Horse Evolution Essay Evolution is the change of species over many generation. This topic allows people to learn where other animals come from. One animal that I am interested in is a horse because I show horses, and have a passion for them. In this paper I will present researched information about the evolution of the horse. The horse, a mammal of the family Equidae(extant horses, donkeys, and zebras). It came around 50 million years ago, transforming to a small dog sized. After a period of time it changed into regular horse size. The horse belongs to Perissodactyla (odd toed.)They are all members who share hooved feet with an odd number of toes, also their upper lips and similar tooth structure. Horses have a common ancestry with rhinoceroses. Modern horses are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Domesticated about 3,000 years ago, the horse had a huge impact on human history. Therefore they were found in areas like, migration, farming, sport, communication, and travel. The species of Equus lived from 5 million years ago until present. Living species include horses, donkeys, and zebras. These fossils are found on every continent except Australia and Antarctica. The pictures on the right show the Equus and Orohippus. Those are just a few examples of horse evolution, now i m going to tell you about it s inherited structures and some other body structures. First i m going to tell you about what you need to know about its inheritance. Horse breeds change and can develop differently over time. Horse breeders found that characteristics and traits can be passed on from parents and their offspring. Horse breeders selected those who had desirable characteristics and traits to breed each other. Horses within a breed can be closely related to each other, or interbred, which can have positive and negative affect. Most horse breeds are established by few horses. Therefore, a breed s strengths are passed on to its offspring. Many horse breeds are established by a few ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mental illnesses are often overlooked, as well as overshadowed by physical illnesses. Mental and physical illnesses, while vastly different, do have similarities. Both can require intense treatment, and both can get overlooked. The difference is that mental illnesses are more difficult to diagnose. Say if you break your arm, you know the bone is broken or fractured. Nobody could argue that. • 4. Catullus Before Death Do Us Analysis Until Death Do Us Part After a long and perilous journey from Verona, Catullus had finally arrived at Rome. As he stood by the entrance to that magnificent and intimidating city, his emotions overtook him like a tempestuous storm. He had left his family and his filial duties in order to pursue a glorious career in his vocation and avocation: poetry. For Catullus, the small town of Verona was a cultural wasteland; it suffered from a paucity of playwrights, poets, and prose writers. Only in Rome, with its diverse and cultured populace, could he truly fulfill his dreams of becoming one of Latin s greatest poets. Thus, as he stood by the gates of Rome, he felt a mixture of feelings; excitement and apprehension at the future lying beyond the entranceway s ivory veneer, and a sense of sadness and melancholia at the past he was forever abandoning. Catullus had not yet taken two full strides in Rome before being suddenly accosted by a pulchritudinous young lady. Introducing herself as Lesbia, the voluptuous woman graciously invited Catullus into her house for a meal. Catullus did not hesitate for a moment to accept Lesbia s invitation, indeed he had little choice; Lesbia s roseate cheeks and comely features had already put Catullus under her amorous spell. This paper will explain the basic components require for photosynthesis, the role of chlorophyll, how energy is transferred, and photosystems I and II and the most precious product results of photosynthesis. Once these components are combined they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One could say that it is the house where photosynthesize occur. The chlorophyll never changes from its original form nor is combined when photosynthesis occurs. Plants absorb energy from the sunlight whether on land or in the water. The energy is transferred to humans and some animals that eat plants. Some animals are not able to eat plants so they eat other animals who has energy stored up in them. Humans also receive a source of energy from animals that we eat. What is quite amazing is that maggots receive energy from animals that have been dead for a long period of time. Photosynthesis has a two stage performance before plants produce the two products they are known to produce. These stages are Photosystem I and II. Photosystem II is dependant on light reactions for energy which causes the electrons to be react and be transferred to Photosystem II. The electrons are transported through the Photosystem II electron transport system, however some energy is used to drive ATP synthesis. Meanwhile, light is being absorbed by the Photosystem I, which causes the electrons to react. This process sends the electrons to the Photosystem I transport system where some energy is released as electrons travel through the electron transport system and is captured as NADPH. When this process is completed oxygen is released from the plant and glucose has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aluminium had an experimental value of 3g. and a theoretical value of 2.7 (Coolmagnetman.com, 2017), causing it to have an 11% percentage error. This percent error is invalid as it is over 10%, therefore not precise enough to draw accurate and reliable conclusions from. This consequently means that the experimental and theoretical density do not represent each other. The percent error in the experiment (11%) is due to random error/s as it is lower than the percent uncertainty (80%). As a result, olive oil had an exceptionally accurate percentage error of 0%, and means that the experimental and theoretical density precisely represent each other. Therefore, this data is highly valid (0 5%) and can be used to draw accurate and reliable conclusions from. Due to the lack of percentage error, there is no random or systematic errors present. Although this data may in fact be inaccurate as there is a wide range of different brands and versions of olive oil, and both the experimental and theoretical data weren t based on the exact bottle of olive oil. Both density experiments could have been completed at different climates /temperatures at the time of data collection. Additionally, the data was rounded at many points throughout the experiment to obey the rules of significant figures, losing the accuracy of the data. Ethanol (rubbing alcohol), obtained an experimental density of 0.76 and a theoretical density of 0.78 (Ausetute.com.au, 2017). Subsequently, ethanol received a small percentage error of 2.6% because, even though the difference in density was 0.02, in ratio it is larger due to the small density. This data is highly valid as it is between 0 5% percentage error, meaning it can be used to draw very close to accurate and reliable conclusions from. The percentage error (2.6%) is smaller than the percent uncertainty (7.9%) and therefore means that the error was due to a random error. Random errors result from uncontrollable elements/variables unavoidable in the experiment, which in this case would be the limitations of the measuring apparatus. It can never be fully eliminated but can be reduced by an increased number of trials. • 7. The Miranda Warnings Miranda Warnings The so called Miranda warnings were developed in response to the Supreme Court s decision in Miranda v. Arizona, 384 U.S. 436 (1966). Many people believe that this landmark decision invented the rights that are in the Miranda warning. It did not. The rights that are included in the Miranda warning are guaranteed in the Constitution. Furthermore, the e foundations for Miranda v. Arizona (1966) were laid in Malloy v. Hogan (1964) which applied the privilege against self incrimination to state criminal proceedings and Escobedo v. Illinois (1964) which allowed consultation with an attorney about the privilege against self incrimination (Anonymous, 2004). However, prior to this decision, law enforcement officials did not have to ensure that criminal suspects were aware of their rights prior to engaging in an interrogation. In the underlying case, Ernesto Miranda was arrested for the kidnapping and rape of a woman. After two hours of police interrogation, he signed a written confession. Miranda was never informed of his right to council, his right to remain silent, or of the fact that statements he made could be used against him. Miranda s attorney attempted to have his confession excluded at trial, but the trial court allowed the confession and Miranda was subsequently convicted of rape and kidnapping. Miranda appealed the decision to the Arizona Supreme Court, which affirmed, based on the notion that Miranda had not sought out an attorney. The U.S. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Likewise, it was reported that each person consumes 28.6% or 1.76 litres of homemade and illegally produced alcohol and is considered unrecorded alcohol. Since most studies on alcohol abuse focuses on the younger generations, only few literatures were found on cases among older adults. • 10. A Study On Green Fluorescent Proteins Question: Would the GFP gene in a pGLO transformed E. coli be activated by a sugar other than arabinose? Introduction: Green Fluorescent Protein, produced by the bioluminescent jellyfish Aequorea victoria, is a protein that fluoresces green under ultraviolet light. Since its discovery, properties of the protein have been improved by mutations in the gene resulting in the expansion of its spectrum, which now contains brighter variants and multiple different colors. GFP is used in a wide variety of applications and technologies. Its many different applications have contributed greatly, and continue to do so, in numerous fields of study including, but not limited to, cellular and molecular biology, microbiology, biotechnology, and medicine. In the pGLO Bacterial Transformation lab, Escherichia coli is transformed with a gene encoding green fluorescent protein by inserting a plasmid containing the GFP gene, beta lactamase, and arabinose into the bacterium. Successfully transformed bacteria will grow in the presence of ampicillin and glow a bright green color under ultraviolet light. The sugar arabinose is responsible for switching on the GFP gene in the transformed cells, without it, the gene will not be expressed. The requirement of the presence of arabinose in the pGLO lab in order to activate the gene for the green fluorescent protein highly intrigued me. The idea that a simple sugar held the key to the final step of the transformation, made me wonder if other sugars, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the next book, The Queen of Air and Darkness, King Arthuris guided by Merlyn and applies what he learned as a child to his reign as King to create the Round Table , where all knights are equal and will use their Might for Right , using their power for good, not tyranny. • 14. Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare and Valentine by Carol... The two poems Sonnet 130 and Valentine present similar ideas about love, though they are written centuries apart. Sonnet 130 (written by William Shakespeare) is like a love poem turned on its head. Instead of describing her in a positive light, he criticise her physical features. He describes the flaws of her body, her smell, even the sound of her voice. Then, at the end, he changes his tune and tells us about his real and complete lovefor her. Valentine (written by Carol Ann Duffy) describes a gift for a lover; such as you would give on Valentine s Day. It is a rather unusual present an onion. The poem explains why it is a powerful gift of love, much more than the clichГ©d roses or box of chocolates. The onion becomes a metaphor for love, and so the poem is about love as well as Valentine gifts. Both of the poems are quite cynical about the old fashioned presentation of love. The moods of the poems portray a dark but realistic version of love and they try to tell you that you shouldn t go over the top with love and be all lovey dovey. They both feel the physical features are not what you should be judged on, but the characteristics and actual person itself. They are both truthful and as a result can be quite critical and harsh in tone. • 15. Government As A Market Economy 1.What do you think about the role of government in a market economy? Do you think government should intervene in a market economic system? Why? Explain. The government plays a critical role in a market economy, for it establishes the strategies of providing key services, redistribution, regulation and subdivision. Concerning provision, the government plays the role of providing public goods and services such as national security, which is imperative for a stable economy. Within the American economy for example, the Lorenz curve provided information towards the existence of unequal distribution of income. By carrying out redistribution therefore, the government will be making distribution of income and other important resources less unequal (Gregory et al, 2004). By carrying out regulation within a market economy, the government will be setting grounds for a free and fair market, which is the foundation upon which a stable economy operates. Over and above, I harbor the perception that the government should intervene in a market economic system, for such a strategy guarantees that, the ideal monetary and fiscal policies are in place to prevent the market from fluctuations. 2.What are the proprietorship business organizations and corporations? I recall one former client who was wiser than most, and she had decided that despite what the bank told her what she could afford ($140K) , she searched for a home priced ($100K) so she could afford it on her own. Years later, she told me about her husband s infidelity and sure enough he left their home within 14 months and she was stuck with the payments. • 19. Analysis Of Joe Painter, A Political Geographer, And The... The definition of state is ambiguous. The meaning can change depending on the context. For instance, it could relate to agencies within the state such as government bodies, or the practices carried out by individuals. Furthermore, the state is part of everyday life and manifests itself through the combination of institutions, practices, people and discourses. This creates social order (Blakeley and Saward, 2009, p. 360). We encounter the state through people such as police officers or doctors; people we may recognise as professionals. These people work for government bodies such as the police force or the National Health Service. Joe Painter, a political geographer, mentions every day discourses of state actors (Painter, cited in Blakeley and Saward, 2009, p. 354). By this he means that the people representing the government bodies are state actors and the actions they carry out as part of the role are the every day discourses . These people are physical examples of the state in action but it is possible for the state to operate in invisible ways. Jill s story illustrates both of these aspects. Firstly, the presence of the school inspectors and health visitor are examples of the visible presence of the state. There are also examples of state institutions namely the post office and school. Additionally, the requirement for Jill to have an MOT certificate for her car is evidence of the state operating in invisible ways. The state also dictates Jill s routine at ... This lamb, simply named Dolly (after Dolly Parton in reference to the mammary cell used as the donor), was the first clone to be born using specialized cells from an adult mammal. The fact that the lamb was cloned from these specialized cells such as muscle cells, liver cells, or mammary cells is what made this discovery of such importance. Although many opinions have been expressed, finding anyone who is stating the facts of the issue and not just venting his fears and misconceptions has become extremely difficult. We cannot afford to l et our emotional biases deter us from allowing this research to continue. To better understand why this is, one must look at the arguments and misconceptions most commonly associated with those opposed to cloning. Cloning is immoral. As the procedure stands now, the cloning of humans is immoral. The procedure used has a low success rate and disfiguration and death is not uncommon, but that is because it has only been developed to be used on animals, with which these types of losse s are far more acceptable. All reasonable scientists agree that the process should not even be attempted until the process is refined to meet acceptable success rates and that those higher success rates will be feasible in the near future. ... • 21. Physics in Cameras Cameras have been a popular device ever since they were invented during the late 1800 s. Cameras are electronics that give us the ability to capture a moment with the push of a button. These little machines allow a real life image to be seen on paper and to be kept as a memento. The way that cameras are able to do this is through physics. Cameras are relatable to physics because they involve visible light, light refraction, light reflections, and electromagnetic fields in the motor. Cameras are involved with physics because they use visible light to capture a picture. Visible light is part of the electromagnetic spectrum. The electromagnetic spectrum contains different wavelengths and frequencies. The visible light spectrum is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum that humans can see. Specific wavelengths in the spectrum are represented by specific colors. This is how humans are able to perceive colors, through visible light. When a camera captures an image, it uses visible light to capture the different wavelengths. These wavelengths are seen as different colors which come together to create the image. Visible light is what allows the colors that create the image to be seen when the picture is captured. Cameras are also involved with physics because they use light refraction to focus the image. Light refraction is the change in the speed of light when it enters a medium of a different speed. For example, lenses on a camera are mediums that refract light. The light wave ... Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum s Art Collection The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum s art collection blends history and culture to aesthetically define a single individual: Isabella Stewart Gardner. From the Mosaic Floor: Medusa of the inner courtyard, to The Coronation of Hebe (Paolo Veronese) on the ceiling of the third floor Veronese Room, Gardner determined every inch of both the interior and exterior of the structure housing her personal collection of masterpieces. This museum was specifically designed to resemble a 15th century Venetian palazzo, inspired from the city that captured Gardner s heart and ultimate vision of her legacy (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum). Assisted by Renaissance revival architect, Willard T. Sears, the palazzo like structure was realized in its full glory, albeit Renaissance ornamentation had no logical place in early 20th century Boston, Massachusetts. However, Isabella Stewart Gardners fascination with the Renaissance was not solely because the works and buildings were visually pleasing. A palazzo, for a wealthy family, was a lasting symbol of status. Gardner s choice to create a museum inspired by this Renaissance structure demonstrates how this Renaissance mindset can be translated into her modern context when crafting her own legacy. At the least, the speaker must have the ability to make it appear to the audience that they have one similar characteristic. In other words, audience members must have a prior understanding of their own qualities and beliefs. Symbolism is another concept in the theory of identification. Proto SF is a vast genre containing many well known and not so well known texts.
